you wake up with blood on your hands and your family dead on the floor, you can't remember anything but black smoke and the smell of rotten eggs. the police arrest you. you're taken into custody, and at that point you're pretty desperate. you didn't kill your family. at least you're pretty sure you didn't. you don't remember anything. while you're pacing around in your cell, not knowing what to do, suddenly two Ken dolls in suits show up. they're your defense lawyers - finally, a silver lining! maybe they can help you! admittedly, they ask a couple of weird questions but maybe they're just extra thorough, surely they'll build one hell of a defense and you'll be out again in no time, they seem confident (even if one of them accidentally spills his water on you but that can happen to anyone) and competent (how else could they afford a pen that looks and feels like it's pure silver?!) and smart (one of them randomly says a phrase in what sounds like Latin - who speaks Latin these days?), and they look like they genuinely believe you when you say that you don't remember what happened. the guard takes you back into your cell and for the first time since you got yourself into this whole mess you're kind of reassured, now that two successful lawyers are on your case.

and then you never hear from them again. it's like they never even existed. at first, you assume they're just busy and that's why you don't hear from them. but as time goes by, you start to wonder what the hell that was. did your defense lawyers just... ghost you?

I’m not sure if someone else already made a post about this, but I was rewatching Tombstone and something just hit me. Dean wanted to stay alone with Cas a little bit longer in that cowboy hotel room. Sam takes Jack with him and pairs Dean up with Cas, after noticing how happy Dean was to get Cas back (which he even made a comment on earlier in the episode, we love a supportive brother). Dean agrees with this change of plan. Sam and Jack immediately gets up to leave and head for the graveyard. But when Cas is about to get up too and get ready, Dean does this:

And this is the same fucking goddamn episode where Dean makes Cas wear a fucking cowboy hat. And then gets offended when Cas didn’t immediately recognize his Tombstone reference. “I made you watch it,” not “we.” The same way “where Dean spread your ashes” is NOT “we.” And Dean has probably already seen ALL of those movies, probably a shit ton of times. He just wanted Cas to see them too. With him. Like a movie date night. And then Cas imitates a phrase from the movie, “I’m your huckleberry.” And then Dean, after averting his eyes and closing them and gulping down, says “Yeah, exactly.” immediately followed by “…it’s good to have you back, Cas.”

AND NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT DEAN TOOK A PHOTO OF CAS OFF SCREEN???????? AND THEN PRINTED IT OUT??????????

season 1 supernatural really was just so iconic because they took two of the grumpiest, ill adjusted, stubborn twenty year olds you could imagine, threw them into a cramped car that only played classic rock by law, and made them fight monsters and childhood trauma together. while they were actively dumbass twenty year olds whose version of research was going to the local library, doing a quick google, and harassing locals while pretending to be government agents. it was a mini horror film every week and the main characters were prissy tough guy idiots. and it was filmed on film so like the haze baby the haze! impeccable vibes
