Most successes are unhappy. That’s why they are successes—they have to reassure themselves about themselves by achieving something that the world will notice… The happy people are failures because they are on such good terms with themselves that they don’t give a damn.

Sparkling Cyanide
After reading it for awhile, I felt like I used to read it somewhere. And then I realized this book expands the plot from a short story, “Yellow Iris”, with Colonel Race in place of Poirot. I like the way she approached her characters one by one in the first part (like she did in “Five Little Pigs”). Love the double murder with the same circumstance. At one point, readers might feel sorry for each suspect, hoping he/she is not a murderer. The ending, I suppose, is a happy one but some might be disappointed.
PS Mrs.Drake is really annoying even though she only exists in the book.

You know the people who always have a good and noble reason to mask their meaner actions? The people who 'have to be honest' when they want to be unkind, who 'thought it their duty to repeat so and so,' who are such hypocrites to themselves that they go through to their life's end convinced that every mean and beastly action was done in a spirt of unselfishness!
