MOTHER 3 at SpaceWorld 1997 - Part 2: Pig Warriors in the Desert
“Since Porky was to appear in the 64 version, too, I designed Porky, his team, and the place he lived in.” - Toshinao Aoki (Earthbound Central, January 20th, 2011)
A notable scene from MOTHER 3′s Spaceworld 1997 trailer features a group of Pig Warriors marching in a desert. Multiple different types of Pig Warrior ranks & machinery can be spotted in these shots.
This scene is a good example of this game’s animation. The Pig Warriors here are given two different walk cycles, a neutral one & a tired one (which can be seen more in the back). You can also see their massive canons, the Supreme Tank Zs, are very bouncy in their movement. The same also applies to the Pig Warrior riding in the Pork Bean. The background is very detailed (which is much more noticeable in the second shot) with large cliffs & canyons filling it.

honestly i think the idea that light’s classmates liked him because he was cool is basically untrue. there is no possible universe where light yagami is cool. he is a weird dorky kid who studies english too much to play tennis and kind of wants a magic notebook to be real. i think they liked him because he was nice, and a little odd, and because he’d help you with your homework even if you didn’t know him all that well. pre-death note light isn’t enigmatic and aloof, he’s the kid you go to when literally no one else understood the class well enough to take notes and who’ll get genuinely excited for you when you suddenly understand a concept. he wants to go to spaceland and have someone tell him how cool it is that he mends his own clothes. he’s a sweet kid and that’s why it’s so heartbreaking when he lets that seed of coldness in him become his core and then his whole being.
Another stadium style beta pokemon. This was my 2nd favorite of the bunch. So much personality in this guy even just from a sprite. Now, I’m trying not to be too hard on me from 5 years ago. . . but what happened with the ears? That aside, I’m still pretty happy with the rest of it.
These are all Spaceworld Pokemon that got cut from Gold and Silver before release- much hubhub has been previously talked about with them, but I drew them and did shiny variants for them as well
you ever become so hyper fixated on something you accidentally start a regional incident like a stack of dominos?
Some stuff with a Pokémon OC obsessed with the Beta Pokémon from the SpaceWorld97 demo. Fat Pichu deserves to exist. This is various stuff from the past year that I’ve been doodling.
MOTHER 3 at SpaceWorld 1997 - Part 3: The Claymen Mines
“I like this one. Claymen. Poor people…” - Shigesato Itoi (Famimanga, February 1998)
These shots here would be the world’s first introduction to the Claymen, a species of clay-like people created by the Pig Warriors to assist them with their mission. The design featured here are much more human-like in comparison to the designs found in the Gameboy Advance version.
The scene is a great example of the Pig Warrior’s cruelty, forcing them to work heavy machinery & attacking them if they do not perform up to standards. One on the very left of the first shot can be seen cowering away from a Pig Warrior, stabbing their spear at them. Much like in the released Gameboy Advance version, the Claymen here are digging, likely for the needles. The first room of the mines in the Nintendo 64 version is much more vertical, with the screen constantly busy from all the action happening (Claymen bringing rocks, being lifted/brought back down via a lift, moving a crane), with Lucas walking along the rafters of the place.
Kazuki was a lawyer and killed by Giovanni, leaving Hibiki and Ken as suspects.
Red is an ex lawyer, and Blue is an ex prosecutor. Still trying to figure out everything else along with Leaf's role and a future role for Blue.
Hibiki is a lawyer who trained with his father, wanting to be like him, and gets mentored by Red after Kazuki died. Ken is just trying to be a baker or electrician but gets accused of murder.
Silver and Galena were forced to be prosecutors by Giovanni and went with it to be better than him. Silver takes the role of defense when Hibiki is unable to, and with his sister, they land Giovanni in jail. Galena also raised Silver, so he's nicer but still very sassy.
Lyra and Krystal are spirit mediums and have the unfortunate fate of Dolos being their brother in this au. Dolos gets his ass landed in prison, too. Yes, this means Ken ate glass here.
-
The plot is different but still very alike to that in Ace Attorney. The differences come from the character's personalities and roles not quite matching those in the games to a T.
Silver and Hibiki are childhood friends, too. They met during one of the times Silver and Galena sneaked out of the house. Can't have gay lawyer au without gay lawyers.

Also, I've been working on this au with my friend @0erpro :3
