What Can I Do in an Impossible Situation? (Daniel 2:1-23)
Throughout the book of Daniel, a prominent theme is the importance of prayer as the prerequisite to receiving wisdom.
Daniel Interprets King Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream, by Mattia Preti (1613-1699) In the second year of Nebuchadnezzar’s rule, he had many dreams. The dreams made him anxious, but he kept sleeping. The king summoned the dream interpreters, enchanters, diviners, and Chaldeans to explain his dreams to him. They came and stood before the king. Then the king said to them: “I had a dream, and I’m anxious…

Who Does Wondrous Things?
“Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things.” Psalm 72:18 ESV Sometimes during my everyday life with my children I find myself saying to my children, “I’m so glad God made blank,” but the fill-in for that blank could be something like Oreos or fuzzy blankets or vanilla almond tea. As soon as the words come out of my mouth the jaded, agnostic gremlin that lives in my…

An Unlikely Start to Advent, but A Necessary Perspective
As we begin the month of December, we turn our focus on Advent and the birth of our Lord and Savior. Each year for the last 10 years I have written each day in December to help bring myself closer to His celebration and truths instead of focusing on the world’s obsession with buying, gift giving and making or saving money. I pray that my blogs will stimulate your thinking and help you to focus on…

Who are we?
God alone, single-handedly, created all things, the heavens and the earth, and everything in it.
God has a plan for how things will come to pass, the reasons for which we cannot comprehend.
God told us that there are 2 ways from which we can choose, to honor Him alone which leads to eternal life, or to reject Him and perish.
We say, we will not accept this proposal, for it is unfair and unjust. How is it that you gave us 2 impossible choices? What if we don't like either way? Why are we forced to choose between honoring You and facing death?
We have not say it out loud, but deep down, this rebellion comes from not accepting that we are but a part of His work. We like to say 'We deserve this. We deserve more.' But do we really? By what heritage or achievements do we claim to deserve anything, much less to challenge God's plan for the fate of all creation?
This was how the great had fallen. This was how we have fallen. Why put a tree there and then make a rule that its fruits must not be eaten? We did not like being ordered because we thought that we 'deserve better' and so ate it in defiance. We thought that perhaps by standing up for ourselves in the face of an opponent, we would become greater. We thought that, if not greater, we were at least an equal. But are we? Is a created mortal an equal to an infinite immortal creator? Is a lump of clay an equal to the potter who shapes it into a vessel? Is a piece of lego an equal to the kid who uses it to build a castle?
The strings on the harp did not like being tied up so tight and thought that they 'deserve better', so they broke off from the pin and 'be free' and 'let it go'. The moment they 'let it go' was also the moment they died. Freedom they had not gain. The only path left for them, was to be thrown into the trash for they were then of no other use.
We simply are not worthy enough to question the plan. It is what it is. We must know and accept who we are. We must not want to be more than who we are. Look what the Lord has in store for us if we would just lay down our pride and honor Him! Look and be wondered at His grace, His forgiveness, and His promises that never fail.
Such, is our lot.

Unconditional Faith
16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. 18 But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which…

Whoever Is Not With Me Is Against Me
Whoever Is Not With Me Is Against Me
26 “Your rowers have brought you out into the high seas. The east wind has wrecked you in the heart of the seas. 27 Your riches, your wares, your merchandise, your mariners and your pilots, your caulkers, your dealers in merchandise, and all your men of war who are in you, with all your crew that is in your midst, sink into the heart of the seas on the day of your fall. 28 At the sound of the cry…

Trusting God in the Senseless
Trusting God in the Senseless
Yesterday I blogged about the times when we MUST trust! We have a host of reasons to have a problem with trusting, especially when it comes to relationships and our heart gets broken or when dreams crush or our dream vacation turns into a nightmare or when we’re let down by a sickness reoccurrence. We have proof of those who weathered their crisis by trusting in God’s promises and Word and came…

Too wonderful!
O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me.Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high,…

I should get an award for my restraint in not automatically blocking people who say things like "I hate paladins, they suck so much, they're the worst class bc their vibes are so bad" on my posts that even just mention paladins.
RIP that you and most people do not understand paladins as a class and do not understand that their narrative is not just "stick in the mud who loves being a cop", but I'm different and I think they're incredible and they're one of the classes with the best inherent narrative

A Divine Appointment (2 Kings 8:1-6)
In order to allow the good to completely fill us, we must be totally emptied of everything else.
The prophet Elisha and the Shunammite woman, by Pieter Lastman, 1620 Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had brought back to life: “You and your household must go away and live wherever you can, because the Lord has called for a famine. It is coming to the land and will last seven years.” So the woman went and did what the man of God asked. She and her household moved away, living in…

Enjoy It While You Can
Enjoy It While You Can
1 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Now you, son of man, raise a lamentation over Tyre, 3 and say to Tyre, who dwells at the entrances to the sea, merchant of the peoples to many coastlands, thus says the Lord God: “O Tyre, you have said,     ‘I am perfect in beauty.’ 4 Your borders are in the heart of the seas;     your builders made perfect your beauty. 5 They made all your planks     of fir…
