So sorry for the absolute spam of your narnia analyses. If there鈥檚 anything else you would like to say on the subject I would be more than happy to read it 鈽猴笍
you're fine, lovey!!! i'm honestly super proud of my narnia analyses posts, because they take me quite a while to put together, so i always appreciate people spamming them!!!
god i have a lot of thoughts about how Lucy and Edmund's domains are quite possibly the most important domains out of the four siblings.
like Edmund's woods should be obvious, right?
That was their first environment that they experienced in Narnia, it's where the lamppost is. it's where Lucy reunited with Aslan during "Prince Caspian", it's where the How was tucked away, and being outside is the entire catalyst for all four of the Pevensies coming into Narnia (they were playing outside when the cricket ball got hit into the house and broke the window).
but then you have Lucy's water, her sea.
In their world, the Pevensies live in the city. it's very likely that they weren't able to go to any oceans or beaches much before the war began, and even in the following movies + books, given where they're living, i can't imagine they're having beach vacations very often.
Cair Paravel, their home for so long, is sitting right up against Lucy's sea. It's where Aslan disappears to. The water is where Peter faces his fears against Maugrim and his seconds in "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe", it's where they meet Trumpkin in "Prince Caspian", it's where Lucy faces her own darkness during "Dawn Treader".
During "Prince Caspian", when they return to Narnia, Lucy is the first to react. They're right beside her domain, her sea, so of course she's the first one to egg her siblings into the water. The water is what defeats the Telmarine army, despite their disbelief.
"Dawn Treader", Lucy and Edmund's final journey in Narnia, takes place entirely on Lucy's sea. The water constantly guides Lucy, the naiads clearly have a close relationship with her if they are trying to warn her, and Aslan's country is literally located behind a wave.
Then you have Lucy and Edmund themselves, and their connections to the two domains.
We see how much Lucy loves the woods, how deeply she's connected to the trees, just as much as Edmund is connected to his woods.
And we see how at home Edmund is on the water, how it's easy for him to maneuver the ship's rigging during that final battle, how easy it is for him to fight on a moving ship.
i just have a lot of emotions and thoughts about Lucy and Edmund being so deeply connected to each other's domains, to the point where newcomers to Narnia never truly know which domain belongs to which younger sibling
also there's something to be said about water representing rebirth, and while i usually try not to get into Christian symbolism during my analysis posts for Narnia, water is used in baptism to purify and adopt newcomers into the faith, and so Lucy being the sibling with the most faith in Aslan vs. Edmund being the one with the least faith until he reconciles with Lucy and their final adventure completely involving water that also ends up changing Eustace and strengthening his own belief in Aslan and in Narnia.
