I usually wear skinny jeans and hoodies with some weird print. I love oversized hoodies, they are like my main source of comfort. I have chains attached to my pants, and I love wearing too many necklaces. I usually have ghearrings (the ghost crosses) in my ears and another one on a chain around my neck. Also wearing a Baphomet (like the goat head in a pentagram) necklace, a pride heart one, a matching besties necklace with Vic and occasionally a choker. I do occasionally do all out, wearing a white dress shirt, black skinny jeans, a leather jacket and the listed jewelry with my favorite rainbow sneakers and round sunglasses. With lots of rings, mostly something skull/plant/occult themed. Always silverish color, never gold. I don't like gold.

Outside from Ghost, I mostly listen to rock and different kinds of metal. And FNaF songs.

I was a Creepypasta kid. Aside from Polish and English I speak some German and bits of Italian, but very little. I can read most arabic letters (as in I know what sounds they make).

I have lots of different posters on my walls and I have stickers on my furniture because I grew up too fast and I'm catching up on my childhood now. I've got mental issues, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, depression, anxiety, mommy issues and daddy issues. I like calling them my pokemon.

I like writing (though I barely have time for that) and re-watching Total Drama (watched it 8 times just this year) since it manages to keep my attention, something most movies fail to do, which is why I barely watch anything. I get bored very easily. I play the Sims 4 a lot, but I can't build in it for the life of me. I'm amazing at building in the Sims 3. Big fan of Assassin's Creed (I don't like the new ones, though, since it doesn't feel like AC anymore to me). I own many true crime and paranormal activity books, though I can barely read at this point. I like manga, though. Currently collecting the Soul Eater series. I love plushies. I got a new one today. Their name is Pyza. (Yes, they're enby, I even got them a pin)

I know way more about butterflies than I should. I know lots of useless trivia in general. Most of it disturbing. I'm tired 24/7, but my body either wakes up before 7AM or after 6 hours exactly and it's impossible for me to fall asleep again. My room is usually a mess, but that's okay, so am I.

I'm a total introvert, but I'm also so tired with life I forced myself to become the extrovert of the group. I'm really loud if I like people, although my affection is usually random touches on someone's arms and shoulders with a strange noise. I make noises. A lot.

For some reason, babies love me. Even though I personally dislike children. I love pets, though. All sorts of pets. Cats, dogs, snakes, spiders... Anything. If I can pet it, I want to pet it. I love moths from the attacus family, I mean just look at this gorgeous girl!

As for my personality, aside from daily mental breakdowns, I'm relatively chill, just... Very unhinged. I talked about Secondo's dick piercings in McDonald's. Compared to the shit I say, Terzo's an angel.

I would say what I’m aware of in songwriting is that if you’re trying to fit a message into a song, it had better be a really catchy, exciting, fun song, because otherwise the message will not be heard. So I think I’m a songwriter first, and most of the songwriting I admire is what I would call American popular songs. So most of my favorite songwriters will just try to write a hit. That’s true in the ‘30s and ‘40s and in the Motown era. So that’s the writing I really admire. And I think in trying to get political messages into songs, I try to make the hook the thing that drives everything else. So it has to have the right energy, it has to have a catchy melody, or nobody cares to listen to the message.

Batman: Noël is a 2011 graphic novel written and illustrated by Lee Bermejo. dipping a toe back into reading with some batman comics. i love batman oneoffs bc there are eleven billion of them and i don't have to have read several thousand other comics to understand them. this one's schtick is: what if batman is scrooge? it's not very successful in the storytelling aspect of this, bc by DC editorial mandate batman and gotham cannot change or grow.

however! it is beautifully rendered. this spread was quite lovely imo, very funny to think sixties tv show batman and edgy grimdark 2010s batman are the same guy

pasta failure. i have two boxes of mostaccioli (penne with no grooves) from really early in the pandemic when instacart gave me that instead of normal begrooved penne. in the interest of eating my pantry down before i move, i made sausage and peppers with onions, threw the leftovers in some diced tomatoes, and threw all that on top of this pasta.

this did not work bc this pasta has no grooves and cannot hold the tomatoes. the peppers and onions, which are cut in strips (as sausage and peppers with onions is typically made) are a little more successful but this shit sucks man. and i still have another whole box. other than ziti (and even that's questionable, bc the sauce issue remains, also i hate ziti) i don't think there's a good use for this pasta and i'm not completely sure why it exists except as a cruel italian joke, maybe.

my experience in the Harry Potter fandom (before we all realized Rowling was a talentless hack, an attention whore, and a spiteful bitch) from ages 6 to 12 was blind adoration, until the last book came out and was a steaming pile of shit thus killing my interest in the series and turning me into the most jaded of teenagers you’ve ever met in your entire life.

i still read the odd fic here and there, but ages 13-16 I was way more into avatar the last airbender, avengers, pokemon, jak & daxter, warcraft, inheritance, death note, invader zim, and all of my contemporaries were into HP and twilight and thus by extension so was I. and I still occasionally was like okay yeah the books are mediocre schlock at best but hey they helped destigmatize the occult in the mainstream eye, and the movies did the best job they could with what they were given, and the books COULD have been good if only you’d just changed like 90% of them. the fandom wasn’t about the books themselves, it was all about the culture that the books had created. because nobody really read any of the books more than once because everybody just watched the movies (DON’T EVEN LIE AND SAY THATS NOT TRUE).

we all rolled our eyes at rowling jingling her keys to make us talk about it again and again but it’s like, ok so dumbledore is gay but you didn’t fucking show it and you made the actual gay character lupin die offscreen, ok so snape was apparently a good person underneath being a toxic shitlord but you didn’t fucking show it and you made the actual only good person hagrid a complete non-entity, ok so Anthony Goldstein was apparently your jewish representation but you didn’t fucking even say his goddamn name once in the entire series and the only black characters were racebent for the movies because you didn’t fucking even mention they were black because we know full fuckin well that every single character was white except for CHO. GODDAMN. CHANG.

all you really had to do was say, okay yeah in my youthful ignorance I accidentally made a contribution to problematic media and so I will now strive to fix my mistakes and write a new series that shows how I have grown as an author. except she didn’t do that. she just greenlit the cursed child and accepted royalties for fantastic beasts. and if it weren’t for eddie redmayne and the fact that it’s part of a licensed franchise, the movie would have totally flopped. it was not very good. and jude law and johnny depp did their best but the script was awful and it suffered from prequelitis (which so far only Star Wars has avoided and even then only very narrowly due to saturation). rowling didn’t even have any fucking writing credits on the movie but she made a fat stack of cash anyway. that’s a trend you’ll notice.

every single way I ever found enjoyment in the fandom was in reading people on here suggesting ways to improve it, or to parody it. like desi harry and black hermione, a very potter musical, potter puppet pals, a billion different rewrites that were all way better than the source materials. i even read my immortal, AND YES IT IS REALLY REALLY BAD not even in an ironic so bad it’s good kind of way, I mean that it was just absolutely godawful in every conceivable way, and was only a highlight of how not to write a fanfic. it was so bad that I reread the original books as a palate cleanser. and let me tell you this, harry potter and the sorcerer’s stone is one of the clumsiest books I’d ever read as a teenager. it’s completely amateur in every way, and it made me understand just why it was so popular with the 13-16 year old crowd. it was written at their reading level. the passages from the actual HP books are all virtually indistinguishable from fanfictions I read over a decade ago made by people who are in their early 20s now. in fact there are plenty of fanfictions written by teenagers that are better written than even the least shitty HP book which is defaulted to half blood prince if only because for once there’s actually some narrative cohesion that isn’t a complete and total ass pull and because if you’ve written five full length books then you goddamn well better understand the basics. engaging with the source material was not fun at all and the only way to milk any fun from it was to make fun of it. and by age 16 I was sick and tired of the cynicism. and around that age is when I joined the my little pony fandom.

and they were the two best years of my life at the time. it was nice to be engaging with wholesome content while also making memes that poked fun at its occasional harmless flaws. I watched other fandoms from a distance but MLP was my primary and honestly it still is, I just haven’t been as heavily involved with it these days beyond listening to the music and rebubbling fanart and even on occasion dabbling in the fanfic realm. but it was integral to me figuring out that hey wait a second I’m not a boy after all haha oops. so when I was 18 and finally transed my gender everything was… fine. ten years later I’m more into games that end with craft lmao

and then everything changed when the terf nation attacked.

by the time the queer parts of the Harry Potter fanbase (who weren’t abject pieces of garbage) were shocked & appalled by the betrayal I was the old coot in my rocking chair holding back the urge to say I FUCKING TOLD YOU SO. when people went back and were like, hey actually wow the books were full of racism and antisemitism, all of the black brown jewish etc parts of the former fandom did not hold back the urge to say we fucking told you so. but as a whole white trans people didn’t really seem to care about its problematic natures until it affected them. which is not a good enough reason to bully harass and suicidebait them especially since they were like 12. thankfully that seems to have done wonders in having the collective media literacy of white trans teenagers increase somewhat. that was a few years ago now and I’ll freely admit that I’m somewhat out of touch with the youth right now, I don’t have a tiktok, I don’t use twitter or instagram, I barely use tumblr. i couldn’t tell you the name of one single popular singer these days, and if I did it would be someone that the kids would roll their eyes at and call me a boomer because I said rihanna or beyonce or nicki minaj or something from the 00s and/or 10s. my favorite musicians all started in the 90s. if I asked out somebody who was only 20 it would be weird and creepy. i know where I stand in society these days and that’s fine. but I don’t exactly know where things stand as far as where most teenagers are at. i hope they’re doing fine. i hope they escaped the clutches of the damage HP did. oh wait I forgot about the blood libel game, gOD DAMN IT-

IT IS DONE

Took me a long while to finish the art, but here’s my Dynamorph AU Trainersona! Naturally I had to go with Victini, they’ve been my partner Pokemon and my personal sona online across pretty much all platforms for over 9 years. The two color schemes are Canon and the Personalized version, respectively. I’ll put more details under the cut, but for those not interested in the lore and minutia (aka Mystic put way too much thought into this), enjoy the doodles!

Background: Victini was my first ever defined favorite Pokemon, after I was introduced to the very first Victini ever made available - the one you rescue in-game from the lighthouse basement. For those who aren’t aware, the very first Victini you could ever acquire was available only during the first launch weeks of Black/White, with codes from the game box allowing you to access the lighthouse island. The lore is that the Victini was cared for from hatching by the old lighthouse keepers, who passed away, leaving it alone and locked away in the basement bedroom. When you first find it, Victini is level 15. For a supposed ‘Legendary’, it’s very low-level and weak. In the context of the game, it has never battled before, or so much as left that room. It’s still a baby, and you get to experience how it grows with you as you journey - as a result, it never felt like an invincible godlike Legendary to me. Victini joined my team and never left. The movie that featured Victini broke my heart and sealed the deal.

Resulting Mess: Combined with a small-time Legendary that possesses a bottomless wellspring of energy, fire powers, and the ability to turn invisible, the result is an absolute mess of a human being. The energy manifests in a lowkey constant state of hyperactivity and desire to be doing something or sharing that energy with other people who need it. However the crippling shyness inherent in Victini was amplified in the trainer, so they tend to lean heavily on the invisibility power to go about their day and not attract attention. It’s also an enabler for their worst habit - sneaking sweets and snacks incognito, with a sweet tooth ALSO magnified by fusing with a Pokemon whose favorite foods are cookies and cakes. The invisibility only works on herself and anything she’s wearing, but doesn’t extend to objects she carries, which frequently leads to her getting caught mid-snack. Due to being a partial Fire-type, my Trainer’s hot temper is more easily stoked, quicker to irritate and just as quick to burn itself out. She’s not good at the whole ‘flying’ thing yet, especially with a debilitating fear of heights. As a consequence of growing wings, my trainer was forced to cut holes in all her favorite shirts, and cried while doing so. She can often be found refusing to climb down trees she definitely didn’t crash into.

Pokemon Franchise Narrative Comparison

To this day, there have been only three other mediums that have run for as long as the core Pokemon game series has: the anime series, the Pokemon Adventures manga series, and the Trading Card Game. With the obvious exception of the TCG, these have all had narrative arcs within each passing generation, and I want to use this post to compare their quality.

GEN I Games: Red/Blue/Green/Yellow Anime: Original Series: Indigo League + Orange Islands (The Beginning) Manga: Red/Blue/Green Chapter, Yellow Chapter  

1st Place - Manga. The original R/B/G Chapter brings the world of the Game Boy games to life in stunning accuracy, while also its own spin on certain things and crafting a simple yet sophisticated coming-of-age narrative, with the Yellow Chapter being its Actionized Sequel that raises the stakes even higher and deepens everything within this manga series. Add to this clear influence from the anime and the fact that it’s the only Gen I product to feature the character of Green in it, and we have the definitive story for the franchise’s first generation.

2nd Place - Anime. While increasingly less faithful to the details of the games, the anime remained very faithful to the spirit of them while telling its own coming-of-age tale for Ash Ketchum in the Indigo League series, plus a “postgame scenario” equivalent with the Orange Islands series. The highlight of this story is definitely how it fleshes out the games’ main antagonists: Gary Oak, Team Rocket and Mewtwo, into interesting, memorable characters.

3rd Place - Games. The 8-bit adventure that started it all is incredibly bare-bones and basic: take the Pokemon League challenge, thwart the evil Team Rocket along the way, and if possible fill up that Pokedex with all 151 Pokemon (”Gotta Catch ‘Em All!”). As a story, it’s not very interesting, but as an excuse for gameplay it works marvelously and established a winning formula for the series, and to this day it’s still charming in its wholesome simplicity.

GEN II Games: Gold/Silver/Crystal Anime: Original Series: GS (Gold and Silver) Manga: Gold/Silver/Crystal Chapter

1st Place - Manga. It’s funny - in the first volume of the G/S/C Chapter, things seemed to be a definite downgrade from the Kanto-based arcs that came before in terms of artwork, characterization and narrative. But then the mysterious masked antagonist appears at the end, and from then on out things just keep escalating to such epic heights that it becomes the best Johto story in the franchise and arguably the best arc in the whole manga series! Practically everyone and everything from the previous two arcs end up joining up with the new elements and the series up to this point is brought to a satisfying, conclusive note. 

2nd Place - Games. While the League challenge and Pokedex narrative threads are basically the same as before, and the Team Rocket thread is actually weaker, this story also features a stronger regional setting, a stronger rival, and stronger characterization for side characters both old and new, especially in the special edition, Crystal, making it a welcome step-up.  

3rd Place - Anime. An attempt at a new narrative was notoriously abandoned early on, with Takeshi Shudo leaving the head writer position and the whole show devolving into formulaic Filler Hell. While the Johto League tournament that concluded the whole thing was good, there was barely a story to support getting there, and the main characters had all become Flanderized versions of their former selves by the end. Without question, the anime had jumped the shark. But Shudo did give us the best movie and an OVA that properly concluded Indigo League’s Mewtwo arc before he was through, so let’s not say it was a total waste.

GEN III Games: Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, FireRed/LeafGreen Anime: Advanced Generation (Ruby and Sapphire) Manga: Ruby/Sapphire Chapter, FireRed/LeafGreen Chapter, Emerald Chapter

1st Place - Games. The first time that the games get first place, but only on the technicality that the other contenders are worse, since this really isn’t that big an improvement over the previous two generations’ game narratives. The biggest difference is that your character is the child of one of the Gym Leaders, and the evil team narrative thread (Team Aqua and/or Team Magma this time) builds to an epic high-stakes event that involves the Legendary Pokemon mascot of the game which will become a mainstay of the formula from now on. There is also the remakes of the original Gen I games, and aside from some small tweaks of improvement and a postgame scenario in an island archipelago (anime-inspired, perhaps?), the narrative is basically the same as it was before. Nothing outstanding, but serviceable. 

2nd Place - Manga. Talk about a mixed bag...the R/S Chapter started out with promise but ended up going to shit in its second half, the FR/LG Chapter was fantastic only to conclude with a bullshit last-minute cliffhanger, and the Emerald Chapter that connects the two arcs is just stereotypical, badly-written shonen crap with only a few good elements in it (plus some ironic enjoyment to be had in its batshit insane climax). On the whole, this was the weakest period that the manga series has ever had, despite Kusaka and Yamamoto’s best efforts.  

3rd Place - Anime. Beyond May and her character arc which, by some lucky fluke, came together wonderfully, the anime hadn’t improved that much from the Johto days. Hoenn was not done any justice (even the manga did a better job with it!), and the FRLG/Emerald composite for the filler arc afterward was just weird in spite of how entertaining half of it was. All in all, the anime hadn’t gotten a real narrative back. It was just going through the motions.

GEN IV Games: Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, HeartGold/SoulSilver Anime: Diamond & Pearl Manga: Diamond/Pearl Chapter, Platinum Chapter, HeartGold/SoulSilver Chapter

1st Place - Manga. Pokemon Adventures retakes its crown in this generation, with a phenomental two arcs in the Sinnoh region that are so linked that they essentially make up one whole story, and a brief, adequate arc in Johto that properly bridges the gap between those Sinnoh arcs and the Emerald arc before them. Whenever I think of Sinnoh, it’s the region portrayed in this manga that comes to mind, which is a testament to its high quality.

2nd Place - Games. One word can describe the narratives of these games: overcooked. There are a lot of good ingredients here that elevate the series’ storytelling to a new level, but way too many cooks who don’t have a unified idea of how to properly mix them together means that it becomes a muddled mess of mythology, philosophy and vague character motivations. This particularly pisses me off when it effects the otherwise solid Gen II remakes. However, the good elements are still good regardless, and as showcased by the following generation this was a necessary learning curve to get through, so it deserves some respect.

3rd Place - Anime. Ugh. Newly appointed head writer Atsuhiro Tomioka tries to have his cake and eat it too here, maintaining the anime’s banal filler formula while also attempting to tell a legitimate narrative, but he as just one man somehow manages to clutter up that narrative more than the several writers did for the games in this generation! It is an increasingly insufferable roller coaster of plot threads and supposed character arcs that are drawn out to the point of disinterest across four years, with you really feeling the disastrous pace when it takes a years’ worth of time between Ash winning his 7th badge and him winning his 8th. Combine this with the source material of the games being disrespected or cast aside perhaps worse than ever, and you get what I will always believe is the lowest point for the anime.  

GEN V Games: Black/White, Black 2/White 2 Anime: Best Wishes + Best Wishes Season 2 (Black and White) Manga: Black/White Chapter, Black 2/White 2 Chapter

1st Place - Games. With this generation, particularly with its first set of games, the learning curve undergone in Gen IV paid off. This is quite possibly the richest narrative in the whole game series in terms of plot, characterization and themes, and the peak of the traditional formula. Combined with stellar gameplay, it creates a high point that has yet to be matched.

2nd Place - Manga. The Black/White Chapter had a rough start, just copying the games’ plot almost to the letter but with the characterizations for the main characters truly being less than ideal (see what I did there?) However, once Black and White go their own separate ways the arc starts rapidly improving until it ends on a phenomenal high note that segues perfectly in the Black 2/White 2 arc that, like the Yellow arc, is an Actionized Sequel and, like the Platinum arc, is essentially the continuation and conclusion of the same story as in the previous arc. The only real mark against it is that it can be too fast-paced which only adds to the frustrating irony of the absolutely Hellish schedule slip it underwent (8 fucking years for an arc of just 24 chapters / 3 volumes to be completed! It’s never going to live that fact down!)

3rd Place - Anime. Kind of the reverse of the manga: had a great start being the best that the anime has been in a long time, only to get progressively weaker, with the third and final year being a trainwreck of checking off plot points in a mad rush to promote the upcoming Gen VI and pander to the whiny fanboys who’d been complaining about the loss of the formula and D/P-style story writing (yes, they actually liked those) plus the “soft reboot” aspect going on, particularly with Ash. However, much like the Gen IV games, the Gen V anime proved to be a necessary learning curve for the future and is a highly impactful series in that regard, so it deserves respect for that (although I hate that both a natural disaster and the B2/W2 games screwed up the originally planned Team Plasma arc! It’s never going to live that fact down!) 

GEN VI Games: X/Y, Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire Anime: XY + XY&Z Manga: X/Y Chapter, Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire Chapter

1st Place - Manga. I thoroughly dislike the story of the X/Y games and the Delta Episode of OR/AS, so imagine my surprise when Pokemon Adventures actually makes something good out of them (or, in the Delta Episode’s case, something tolerable at best). The X/Y Chapter is a delightful deconstruction of a lot of what’s in the games, turning what was light and fluffy and hollow into something dark and suspenseful and meaningful. And the OR/AS Chapter gets points for being the best that Ruby and Sapphire have ever been characterized, to the point where they’ve been officially Rescued from my Scrappy Heap (Emerald’s still lame tho).

2nd Place - Games. Like I said, I dislike the X/Y games’ narrative and the Delta Episode of OR/AS; I think they are the worst writing the game series has ever seen to date. But the main narrative of OR/AS - the actual remake of the Gen III games which features a lot of new and necessary improvements - is solid, and that’s enough to put the games at second place here.

3rd Place - Anime. Similarly, the one thing the anime series does really well - the Myth Arc, which includes the Team Flare storyline - is not enough to elevate it beyond third place, because the rest of the series’ narrative is just as lame as the X/Y games’, there’s not much benefit from OR/AS elements, and everything that it positions in its shameful fan-pandering utterly fails to deliver or add up to anything meaningful in the end. The Mega Evolution specials pretty clearly demonstrate that this should have been Alain’s show, not Ash’s.

GEN VII Games: Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon Anime: Sun & Moon Manga: Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon Chapter

1st Place - Games. The Gen V games have serious competition story-wise with the Gen VII games. Both S/M and US/UM are excellent, with things not done so well in one being done better in the other and vice-versa to the point where they compliment each other beautifully.

2nd Place - Anime. Miracle of miracles! For the first time since Gen I, the anime series gets its narrative in second place, with Daiki Tomiyasu and Aya Matsui completely reinventing it in a refreshingly fun and vibrant way. There are some missed opportunities here and there, but overall it’s a perfect adaptation of the Alola region and everything that makes it so great.

3rd Place - Manga. While this is still an arc of good quality that I like, it’s also perhaps the most disappointing since Ruby/Sapphire back in Gen III. After doing so well with Sinnoh, Unova and Kalos, one senses that Kusaka and Yamamoto struggled to adapt Alola to that same standard, and while the decision to keep US/UM as part of the same arc rather than be a separate one was wise, it’s during the US/UM half of the arc that things really start falling apart and the wasted potential of stuff that got set up earlier becomes overbearing. It doesn’t help that the leads are an unlikable hero with an interesting, relatable goal and a likable heroine with an uninteresting, unrelatable goal respectively. Let’s hope that the patchwork done in the volume releases fixes some of the problems so that I can like this arc even more.

GEN VIII Games: Sword/Shield Anime: New Series (Journeys) Manga: Sword/Shield Chapter

1st Place - Manga. As I recently stated, Kusaka and Yamamoto are back at their A-Game with this arc, taking advantage of all that was lacking in the games’ story and utilizing them in an interesting narrative that I can’t wait to further experience alongside our surrogate, Marvin.

2nd Place - Games. If the Gen IV games’ narrative was overcooked, then the narrative of the games four generations later is most definitely undercooked. It’s not the worst story - that’s still Gen VI - but it’s possibly the most disappointing since it’s so easy to see how it could have been better and you are left baffled as to why the writers didn’t go in that direction.

3rd Place - Anime. This series is highly enjoyable thanks to the continued leadership of Daiki Tomiyasu, but not only is there not as much of a narrative as there’s been in earlier shows, it isn’t even uniquely Gen VIII-based: taking place across all regions in the Pokemon World and taking influence from mobile games like Go (released in Gen VI) and Masters (released in Gen VII).  Add to that the unfortunate hiatus it’s now on and it can’t help but be placed last.

Worldbuilding/Headcanon: Aura

To start with I’d like to say that my version of Aura is kind of a mix of the obvious canon aspects from the anime/games/manga, real-world aspects, and my own headcanons. So anything canon in the anime/game/manga worlds to aura is still canon in my version. As a summary these things include: -Aura can be used to heal, at the detriment of the healer -Able to read the minds and actions of others through Aura -Able to sense other’s aura’s and see surroundings through a blindfold and other objects. -Projection of one’s aura to attack or make barriers -Activate time flowers -Aura can be disrupted by air-based attacks as its a type of energy wave -Able to track using aura as long as there is a piece of aura to track -Able to prevent mind control of self and those around them

Real-world based things on aura are: -Every person’s aura is different, while blue is the go-to color in the anime when using aura, in actuality each aura is a different color and different in general, making an aura user able to identify a person just by their aura. Using this I’ve also somewhat expanded that if an aura user knows a person and their aura, well enough, they may be able to track without a base piece of aura to concentrate on. -Aura’s are like a veil around a person

Now to get into my own headcanons I’ll start with that every living thing has an aura, this is why Aura users can see their surroundings even when blinded. Now note that it’s a bit different, focus on ‘living’. Grass, plants, and the like all produce an aura, though it’s weaker than what one may call “intelligent life”, rocks, on the other hand, do not. Nor does brick, concrete, metal, or things like that. BUT, and here’s something that still helps it apply, nonliving objects can obtain an imprint of other’s aura’s from exposure. The amount of exposure and attachment to the object will make this imprint stronger and last longer. A well-beloved object may never actually lose it’s imprint, even if it dulls in strength over time. Aura is the literal life force of creatures, what one could say is the soul of living objects (this is why using one’s aura to heal another is dangerous), and the more a person loves an object and keeps it around the more ‘soul’ is imprinted into the object, a literal piece of the person. So, a common rock may have aura imprints from those who pass it or touch it, but it would be multitudes and fade away relatively quickly. If no one passes by for a long time, it will be an aura ‘dead’ zone, nothing seen. A well-beloved broach on the other hand that's constantly worn? That the owner has taken care of and loved for a long time? It will have such a strong imprint of the persons aura who cared for it that it will probably overshadow any other aura imprints. It may also dull a bit in ‘brightness’ of the aura over the years once the owner dies or loses it, but will never fully fade. If passed on to another who loves it, it may start taking on their imprint as well and revitalizing the imprinted aura. This is why Aura users can use objects to help them track an aura, the imprint is a permanent connection to the very person's life force.

 Now a little bit more back on the topic of seeing aura, intelligent life has a stronger aura, but there are still variants. Pokemon based on inanimate objects, like Geodude, Klink, and the like, and really steel type and rock types, in general, have weaker aura than other “intelligent’ life just from their basis not having its own aura at first, but it’s still more significant than a common plant. Most other Pokemon types have an average level of aura, varying to be a little weaker to normal humans to about the same, some even a bit stronger, next strongest would be Fairy and Grass types in general as they’re so close to life itself. Then would be Pokemon who can utilize Aura naturally, like Lucario, and finally, humans that can use Aura have the strongest aura. This is why Aura users can tell when they meet another Aura user.

Now getting really far into headcanon territory is something I’ve touched upon both in my Ash’s bio, and Rui’s villain verse. An Aura user is NOT restricted to using just their aura. They can pull from other sources, even weak ones like grass. Of course, touch is the best way to do it, but with enough concentration and training, they could pull from a distance, though not an overly great one. Of course, there are a few dangers in this, as pulling from another will most likely weaken them, and if pulling past a certain point, they can very much suffer the same consequences as an Aura user pulling from their own aura to heal, that being if stopped at a certain point a shortening of their lifetime, and if continuously pulled from too much, death (think Sir Aaron’s and Lucario’s death in the movies. It’s not automatic, but it is quick.) These dangers are easily avoided by being careful of course, you could say that there is always a certain level of ‘excess’ aura, with Aura users having the most ‘excess’ aura to pull from. If you only pull from it it will at most weaken and tire the other temporarily but will reaccumulate after a bit of rest.

Now a bit of expansion on some canon/real-world points that start delving into headcanon territory as well: Reading one’s “mind” through aura is a bit different than being able to through telepathy in my opinion. Telepathy can act much the same, but with enough focus can dig deeper. Using Telepathy one can dig into memories or the like, delving deeper into the consciousness and even subconsciousness. Aura, on the other hand, more skims the top, this allows for communication, and even reading what one’s next move might be, but in the end, it’s only surface level. Aura users can talk to Pokemon or communicate with a human without speech, but they won’t be able to, say, dig into the actual memory of a story. They pretty much have access to the base level stream of thought that flows through someone's head, such as when one is talking to themselves, or planning out what they’re going to do.

Now, this might make it seem odd that they can block mind control, but really they only need access to that base level first, and then they can pretty much make an aura barrier around them and block any access to the deeper levels as you can’t even reach the most shallow.

I’ve also already stated this, but I think I’ll go into detail. For a person an Aura user doesn’t know, they’d need an object that has the person’s Aura imprinted on it to even track a small distance, the more well-loved the object the better. For someone they know well (as an example, let's say if Rui was trying to track Wes) they can track their aura for short distances (I’ll say a few miles) without an item. For longer distances, an item is needed though, and admittedly even short distances are easier with one.

When it comes down to how aura is presented, as stated, every aura IS different, but they all follow a certain pattern. Closest to the person is what one would call the “core” aura. This is the personalized aura of the person, and can be one color to a mix of colors, and is usually a representation of a person. A core aura can change over time, but it’s so slow it won’t usually affect anything like tracking unless someone is using a REALLY old object that the person hasn’t been around for a long time. (For an example of aura’s changing: I headcanon Rui’s aura is a mixture of a soft blue and pastel pink when she first meets Wes. But I now imagine she’d have flecks of gold and purple in her aura that cropped up as she got closer to Wes (gold) and Charlotte (purple) as they both became such a big part of her life and who she is. She probably also has some Red (for Silver) coming in as well.) Then right outside the core aura is a more... flexible aura. We’ll just call it the mood aura. This is an ever-changing color of aura reflects the person's moods, every color representing a different emotion more or less. Of course, it’s not always the most specific. The other thing about this is that what each color represents can be different for each person, based on their own beliefs or feelings on the colors or what colors represent. This means that, unless you have an advantage like Rui with already having Empathy, most Aura users won’t be able to tell someone's emotions just from their aura unless they know them well. Though they can, of course, use context clues like a normal person, or if they want to intrude use aura to read the surface level of their mind to try and pick out their true thoughts/emotions to start putting together what each color represents to a person. Now on top of all this there is a connection to aura and health and aura and... well I guess you could say morality? But not really. How violent a person can be is more accurate, or cruel, but it’s not actually black and white. I’ll use a few art terms to describe these a bit, but what you could say is health is represented by Saturation, the higher the Saturation of the colors in the whole aura the healthier the person is, while the lower the Saturation (the more gray) the sicker a person is. Now on the other hand Value can represent "morality”, with the lighter the color is, the closer to white, the less likely they are to be cruel or violent, while on the other hand the closer to black one is the more they have a propensity towards cruelty and violence, or has done a lot in the past. Now, I’ll again state, this isn’t black and white. It doesn’t take in the “righteousness” of the violence per se, and can also be influenced by other factors and even how the person sees themselves. And that it’s incredibly rare for ANYONE to be fully on one end of the Value Spectrum or the other (in other words pure white or pure black.)

As a few examples of how the “Value system” works with aura, Rui’s Aura is on the lighter side but it is still relatively dark as she WILL use violence to save her friends or the like. She has even admitted to being willing to kill people before when she honestly believes them to be irredeemable (-cough-Ghetsis-cough-), this has made it so it’s darker than one might think, but she is still such an honestly kind and selfless person that her aura isn’t very dark. Ash, on the other hand, has a much darker aura. He can be a very kind and even selfless person with a bit of a hero complex, but the thing is the time he spent in Rocket kidnapped did change him, and the things he did afterwards. Ash will see no problem in hurting or killing if he thinks you deserve it, it doesn’t even matter how redeemable they may be most of the time. He’s killed poachers with no care for if they have families or a life outside of poaching that isn’t violent, he’s lost a lot of his optimism in the world, though not all of it. Just recently I did a bit of a plot point on Discord with friends where Ash went and killed the scientist lady in Galar who made the Fossil Reviver thing, after destroying the invention, as he felt it was too risky to keep her alive to make another one to create the abominations called Fossil Pokemon in Galar. This is why his Aura is actually a lot more on the dark side.

Other things that can also influence Aura is, obviously to be honest with one of my characters being from Colosseum, Shadowfication. Now while it’s obvious that Shadowfication in and of itself will change an aura, usually into hues of black and dark purple, it also leaves a mark on those shadowed, and those around shadow Pokemon for long periods of time. Rui and Wes both carry some taint, Rui less than Wes as Wes has spent more time than Rui actually handling the Shadow Pokemon and trying to heal them. The mark of Shadowfication can cause an aura to darken as well more than it may have ‘naturally’. It can also leave permanent “shadow” splotches that won’t fade away. Of course, the effects of Shadowfication and being around Shadow Pokemon are not well observed seeming as how there isn’t a lot of aura users to do the observing, not is Shadowfication a common thing, at least outside of Orre.

Another fun fact I didn’t quite delve into before, there is one more Pokemon type with a... I guess you could say weird interaction with Aura. That’s the Ghost-type. The thing you need to remember is Aura is pretty much the soul of a person, as well as life force. So while one might think Ghost types wouldn’t have one, it’s quite the opposite. Ghost types tend to be different in the fact that their whole BEING is aura, or will show up as aura. So, as an example situation, if an aura user is, say, blind or even temporarily blinded, and are using Aura to see, then when looking at a human or normal Pokemon they’d kindof see an aura “dead zone” that would show up as, well, nothing, a void, right in the middle of the aura of the being, where their physical body would be, pretty much allowing them to see a silhouette of the person, but not the person themselves. On the other hand, if a blinded Aura user sees a ghost, they wouldn’t really look any different than when they can see normally. A Gastly still looks like a Gastly, a Dreepy looks like a Dreepy, there is no difference, no aura “dead zone” The only exception being Mimikyu as they wear a disguise that isn’t actually a part of their being.

Anyways I think this about covers everything? If I remember anything else I’ll just post a smaller headcanon. I apologize for this rambling behemoth of a Headcanon.

1. Animated character that was my gay awakening:

Um . . . .Pocahontas? When I first saw her at five she became my new imaginary friend and we did everything together and I thought she was the most wonderful and beautiful person in the world. Though I didn’t know I was bi until like twenty years later, I think this was big indicator now that I’m looking back.

3. What show/YouTube video(s) do you put on in the background when you when you don’t have anything to watch but you want something on?

It changes all the time because mostly I don’t have the attention span to watch something if I’m not cross stitching or doing something else with it. Right now I like a lot of cooking shows, like the Great British Bake Off and Cutthroat Kitchen. I’m also rewatching Even Stevens on Disney plus since that was my most favorite show as a kid. Other times I put on something like Community or Brooklyn 99 because I’ve seen them so many times that I don’t have to be paying attention to know what’s going on.

5. Fav pair of shoes

My fav pair of shoes are the comfortable ones because I’ve got mild plantar fasciitis and I can’t really afford to be picky.

10. Do you own any signed memorabillia?

I do! I have a book signed by Tamora Pierce that I got at the Book Festival. Back in high school I used to jot all my writing ideas and brainstorming and stuff in journals that I toted with me EVERYWHERE. And in Austin there was this massive book signing event with a bunch of YA authors -- including John Green and Stephanie Myer before they got really famous -- and so I had it signed by all of them. I think Lauren Myracle was also there.

14. Favorite Mug

One of my coworkers gifted me a handmade mug that holds the perfect amount of coffee so I usually stick with that one. It’s green with a frog on it!

15. What coffee drink would you describe yourself as?

A mocha because that’s pretty much all I order haha.

18. What’s that one TV show that you’re a little bit embarrassed to watch but you still like nonetheless? 

I have zero shame so nothing embarrasses me. But some of my favorite shows are children’s shows -- like Pokemon or The Weekenders -- and I am having a blast reliving my childhood through Disney plus, so maybe for other people that might be embarrassing.

19. The book I was forced to read for class and enjoyed?

I was the only person in my English class who actually liked the Scarlet Letter. Like, the ONLY one. Hester was such a badass though that I got emotionally invested in her story, haha.

22. What was your “phase” when you were younger? (i.e., Mythology Nerd, Horse Girl, Space Geek, etc) 

Pokemon. Full stop. Every day at recess I played Pokemon with my BFF Laurie. She was a baby eevee and I was a wigglytuff and we wandered around the playground “foraging” for food and fighting team rocket and generally having a blast. I brought cards to school almost every day until some were confiscated. I met two other of my longest friends through Pokemon. I had the First Movie and the soundtrack to it and played the constantly.

Pokemon was life.

29. Who’s your go-to musical artist when you’re feeling upbeat? 

I don’t really have one artist, but I do have a playlist of songs that make me happy. Walking on Sunshine is on it, as is Lonely Boy by the Black Keys.

31. What’s that one outfit in your closet you never get the chance to wear but want to?

So my thing that I love is stars. I could slap stars on everything. I have a white shirt that’s got cutout of stars, I have a cute pink skirt with silver glitter stars, and I have this long mesh duster that’s covered in gold stars and I have tights that are mesh and covered in tiny velvet stars and I kind of really want to put it all together in one outfit, but I also feel like it would look like a ten year old trying to make her own magical girl OC and so I don’t.

But hell, now that I’m home every day there’s not really anything stopping me, is there?

49. What is something that you don’t have a picture of that you wish you did?

I really wish I had pictures of my bedroom in the places I lived in as a child. It might sound weird, but I have a lot of dreams where I visit those places again and I can’t remember exactly what it looked like anymore. And it’s a weird and awful feeling to know that there’s a place that sourced so much comfort and happiness and you will never set foot in it again.
