alright! knew soemone took out the corkboard for this one. I totally agree though with all the stuff about the rebranding. I would suggest they are trying to rebrand themselves and make themselves better because on WW+ they do talk about how watcher wasn't exactly how they thought it would be and the pandemic really was rough for their company. And I would agree with the streamings service bc it is literally called www.watchertv.com but it is true that they are a suggested smaller company and have a relatively smaller audiance then their buzzfeed days. One thing on their part I wish they would have done differently when watcher first started was promoting watcher more on buzzfeed. They did a few times and at the very end but no one reads the discription and or the last little bits of the crdits. if they did promote it more, then maybe more of the audiance from unsolved would have come over to their company and have given them a bigger start. but with that comes its own problems of not having enough content or better content yada yada yada. One thing I did think of when I say the announcement was maybe it was a slouth of new shows were already ready to watch like a series. I quickly shot that down. Bc when would they have time to shoot 2-3+ shows? Between editing and keeping their current shows alive I doubt they had time (this is all speculation I have no fucking clue). Anyway I do think it might be stuff like maybe a new show announcements like maybe one with Sara and Joyce. As well as the somewhat annocued one with Steven and his crew. aybe a new tour and merch? Merch store has been pretty dry (minus the new patches) and we haven't had a tour since november which isn't long but idk what they do in HQ. Truly excited tho. I have my alarms set and everything. Anyway lol that's for reading my ramble too. Your theories were great, didn't mean to kind of debunk them though.
I believe you and I are on same the page and here are some of my responses to this.
With the whole BuzzFeed promoting: I don't think they had much of a say on what and how much they could promote Watcher over on BuzzFeed. If I remember correctly, BuzzFeed is very stingy on their employees/shows promoting other outside sources that could be seen as competition. Henceforth many BuzzFeed employees on contract could not appear in other YouTubers videos do to conflict of interest. In the end, it was really generous for the amount of promoting allowed of Shane and Ryan to put into the last seasons of BuzzFeed Unsolved.
The possibility of new shows: Yes, filming a lot of shows to add in this new slate would seem like a lot, but not in possible. It would seem more likely than touring as touring takes the boys away from the office and takes up a considerable amount of time and obstacles for filming schedules. Also I said how there are new names showing up in the credits of new editors and production crew, meaning they are hiring on new folks. Bigger team, more flexibility to work on new projects. Also if these new shows are less of Shane and Ryan, and more of other individuals like Steven and friends of the company it would actually mean a more balance flow of shooting. Letting Shane and Ryan have a break from constantly filming and to work on other projects within their own lives or through the company. Actually, Ronnie who was an intern for Watcher back in 2021 or 2022 I believe posted this on their instagram story:
Tumblr media
They actually left the company sometime in 2022 possibly after the internship was up. Then when to work for GMM though that internship has come to close. Basically what I am saying is they are continue to grow their employment and with more people on the team means more flexibly in expansion of shows.
Merch???: I feel like merch could be a possible in this announcement if it's a relaunch of sorts. Especially if it's like a rebrand, selling merch to fit the new rebrand? Perfect idea to generate some revenue as for long time fans it would be a refreshing site to their merch line... and who doesn't love fresh new merch?
Don't worry guy I am also so excited! I noticed I actually don't work on Friday so I can be fully present for the announcement day! Imma be on the internet as a menace all day watch me.

the COMPLETE list of AUs
[for real this time] [i promise]
-
REWRITE AUS
[AUs that exist in a completely different universe than canon]
Lighthouse AU - In a world where the population consists of humans and animal-like beings, Jay abandons the ninja after Nya merges with the sea, moving into a secluded lighthouse far from the city. After a kidnapping, he is forced back into the life he left behind, though this doesn’t end well.
Crreature AU - Lloyd is the main keeper of an organization meant to protect an endangered species known only as Creatures. He manages to find and save a group of them, but soon realizes they are much stranger than he realized. What’s this about a pool party..?
Band AU - An average set of instruments hide a not-so-average secret - at night, they become human, and work with their sensei, Wu, as a team of ninja to protect the city from what may endanger it. Their players, the members of the band they’re apart of, are none the wiser. Will it remain that way?
Gaming AU - Superstar Rockin’ Jay, a buddy NPC / secret final boss of a VR rhythm game, escapes his game after a failed test of a prototype VR portal. Zane, an android employee who works for the company, is given the brutal task of watching over him until he can be returned to his game.
Elemental AU - Lloyd, your average Subway employee, meets the manifestation of the element of Ice one fateful day, and is given an arduous task - find the rest of the Elements of Creation, and save them, before Ice’s premonition of ruin can come to pass.
Lost Lightning AU - For years, the element of Lightning has been missing, with no clues of where it could have gone. Master Chen, needing Lightning for his plan, decides to go straight to the source - the dragons of the First Realm. Kai, Cole, Zane, Nya, and Lloyd go after him, and discover...
Here Be Dragons AU - Firstborne and Wojira, the mothers of Dragons and Serpents, fled the First Realm long ago to the realm of Ninjago, disappearing soon after. Their children were left to fight over who rules the skies, though eventually both species went extinct. Lloyd, a researcher in an organization determined to find out more about both species, discovers a flight of both dragons and serpents - still very much alive, though they may very well be the last of their kind.
On the Run AU - In a world where magic is both common and feared, those who show signs of being able to wield such powers are sent away to special ‘prisons’, never to be seen again. Kai, Cole, Zane, Lloyd, and Nya are all secretly magic users, hiding in plain sight in a small town with the help of Skylor, the town’s famous restaurant owner. What happens when another magic user appears, clearly having escaped from one of the many prisons..? [inspired by Divinity: Original Sin 2]
Wings AU - In Ninjago, there exists a select few individuals known as the Dragon’s Gifted, labelled as such by the wings upon their backs. The Gifted aren’t just able to fly - being given a dragon’s wings gives one their elemental powers as well. The ninja, Ninjago City’s very own superheroes, are such Gifted, and use their powers to protect their home from criminals and anything else that may endanger it.
Cryptid AU - There exists a secret organization, one no one is aware of, that captures and contains creatures that it believes are dangerous. Such creatures in its hold are the Storm Serpent, the Guardian of the Mountain, the Aitvaras, the North Star Serpent, and Winter’s Emissary. Lloyd, a low-ranking worker there, decides against their containment, and seeks to break them out. [loosely inspired by the SCP Foundation]
Horror AU - Lloyd, owner of a popular ‘ghost hunting’ show, frequently visits haunted places to discuss the rumors about them with his friends, Cole, Nya, Kai, and Zane. It all comes to a stop when he visits the popular abandoned clocktower in the city, and sees... A monster. [vaguely inspired by Buzzfeed Unsolved]
Monsters & Men AU - The prophecy of Creation has failed. The elements of Earth, Ice, and Lightning have gone missing, leaving Kai, Lloyd, and Nya all alone to defend the city from threats. Until one day, a gang of pirates docks, and the missing elements are brought to light. But the pirate crew, especially its captain, want nothing to do with the ninja.
Dreamscape AU - PIXAL, an android built to protect the realm of dreams and nightmares, is defeated by an unknown entity. Realizing she needs help, she retreats to the real world and seeks out six teens who had previously encountered the mysterious realm. Together with the sentient mech, Nyx, PIXAL hopes they can one day restore the realm of dreams to its proper state. [inspired by a dream i had. yes i’m serious. it happened 3 times]
-
CANON AUS
[AUs that exist within the original universe of ninjago]
Big Sip AU - When the ninjas’ elements go out of control, it causes a near-crisis, leaving Wu the only one who can save his students. With a special tea in his hand, and his staff in the other, he’s prepared to do whatever it takes to get his students back.
Bigger Sip AU - The plot of its predecessor, Big Sip, yet the ninjas’ crisis is just that much more extreme. When Wu finds them, they’ve already combined with their elements, leaving him to have to find alternate means to rescue them. He does, and they return to their original forms. All is well...
Biggest Sip AU - A similar story to Bigger Sip, with one key difference. When Wu tries to return the ninja to their original forms, they don’t change back. Instead, they regain their sanity, if not their bodies. More effort is required to bring them fully back, but how..?
Forever Superstar Rockin’ AU - During Prime Empire, one key difference is Jay never switches out of his Superstar Rockin’ avatar. When he returns to Ninjago to fight Unagami, he doesn’t revert back to his true appearance, instead remaining how he appeared in-game. This doesn’t change. He is stuck looking how he did in Prime Empire, forever.
Frozen AU - In the Never Realm, during Boreal’s attack on the village, Kai isn’t so lucky to avoid the same fate as the villagers. When the rest of the ninja get back, they’re just in time to see him freeze among the rest. Without Kai, how do they face Boreal at the palace of the Ice Emperor? And how will said Emperor react to this news..?
Universes Rising AU - [DATA LOCKED UNTIL SEASON ‘Dragons Rising’ RELEASES]

Re: your response to the Roanoke post I reblogged - fair enough! I probably shouldn't have phrased my tags the way I did, since it was kind of unnecessarily dismissive. My annoyance was more at the conflation of things like Buzzfeed Unsolved with historians in general, since I don't feel that is a fair representation. But, I acknowledge that there are/were also sources of the "it's a mystery" telling that purported to be legitimate.
I figured you weren't really *intending* to be dismissive like that--it is *now* widely understood and accepted that it's really *not* a mystery, and I presumed that is what you learned in school, and based your statement off of. No biggie!
I get the annoyance, and I think Buzzfeed and such was brought up because content like that is marketed as "educational" and is often based on sensationalism as much as actual history (or historical theories). That's how I understood it, but I can see where you're coming from!

PLS pls share your theories on watcher’s origin story !!
WITH PLEASURE!! sorry this took so long i was in a meeting!
i think steven lim left buzzfeed first, or at least went part-time/freelance since he moved to new york in late 2018 and then back to los angeles in 2019.
we know from watcher weekly+ episode 3 and the beginning of the future is unscripted (which, yes, obviously dramatized, but i think there's some truth to it!) that steven approached them in the spring (march-april 2019), when i assume their contracts at buzzfeed were already ending and it was time to renew and asked about the future. also, we know shane and ryan got hired at buzzfeed at the same time so it makes sense that their contracts would be up for renewal at the same time. ryan mentioned that it was important for them to keep a good relationship with buzzfeed in leaving so that's why i think it was around the time their contracts would have been up anyway.
as far as who conceptualized the company - i really think it was ryan! whenever they talk about it they give so much of the credit to him. i think he and shane may have floated the idea but it wasn't a solid "yes, we're going to do this" because neither of them had the kind of business understanding that they needed. i think shane was probably the last on board, but only because i think ryan spoke to steven first as the more business-minded of the three of them and then the two of them approached shane so they could assure him that they had things covered (since we know shane doesn't always believe in himself and his abilities, having steven and ryan, in whose abilities he wholeheartedly believes, already on board would make him more inclined to agree).
the variety article where they announced watcher (dec 2019) says "the founders have spent the last six months producing the first batch of shows," which puts production officially starting in june 2019. we know journalists are vague with time estimations but june being the official start of producing shows that are specifically For Watcher Entertainment sounds right to me. shane's instagram puts them shooting puppet history season 1 in early july 2019 and we know that that pilot was the very first watcher thing they shot from shane's audio commentary on patreon.
sophie @psychicbergara and itze @monsteraficionado pointed out that tourist trapped was filmed earlier (april 2019), but that it was also made as a way for shane and ryan to explore their dynamic outside of unsolved and not specifically For Watcher at first. (i also remember this being said but i cannot place a source. it was probably a watcher weekly and i'm not going to go back and watch 200 of them to place it but. it's part of the theory!).
we also know from making watcher that their original plan was to fund everything themselves, but realized they needed investors a little later on. since shane mentions in the same puppet history audio commentary that they needed to do everything as cheaply as possible for puppet history, which, again, started shooting in july, it's safe to assume they hadn't pitched to investors at that point. steven's hair was pink when they secured their investors, which took two meetings a week apart from each other, so i think that last investment meeting happened in august 2019!
okay. i THINK that covered everything. maybe in terms of the exact months these things happened i could be off, but i think the timeline is right.
another gem from shane's instagram is this picture from february 2020 that makes me feel like my brain is just absolutely teeming with bees because you can feel all of the love and joy and excitement a month after launch.
also: i rewatched the first making watcher episode to re-check some of my facts and see if they made any reference to timing and i legitimately started crying when ryan said "i think we might be okay" after their investment meeting. "i'm working with my best friends. we assembled the best team we could have possibly assembled, we made the best content we could have made, and we did everything the right way. i believe in us" excuse me. i have to sob.

What kind of YouTube accounts do you think the grishaverse characters would have?
Oh gosh I love these questions! Hehe.
Alina: runs a pet channel with so many cute cats and puppies that she saves from the street and rehomes to loving owners. Has her own pet-products brand, everything is super high quality but also affordable, and she has struck partnerships with many vets and zoos! Harshaw is often a guest on her channels and gives tips on kitty care!
Aleksander: emo metal indie songs. Think Jonathan Young or Violet Orlandi, just edgier. He has a great voice (as we now Binbons does) and he plays the guitar while Ivan is his drummer. Both of them attract people of all genders and ages to their channel, especially Aleks, because he's just so dark and tall and handsome. Ivan has fewer fans since he doesn't like showing his face much, but his fanbase is extremely dedicated.
Fedyor: gaming channel! It's mostly him just getting his ass handed to him in games like CoD and LoL, but his commentary is always hilarious and he keeps all of his swear words appropriate. Never says fuck/damn/shit/etc on camera and never calls anyone an asshole. He substitutes these with "YIKES" "Oh nooo bestie", "that's sad" and, when on multiplayer, "stop asking for heals you barnacle!". Ivan also makes the occasional appearance (which their fanbase is delighted for, the fans just KNEW these two were dating) and he kicks Fedyor's ass if they play 1v1 or carries him throughout the game during co-op. Fedyor loves that uwu.
Genya: makeup and fashion tutorials ALLLL the way. She has such an eye for art and aesthetic, matches colors perfectly and gets so creative with different styles or makeup and outfits. She has her own makeup brand (as in @darbydoo22 's fic!) and hosts many different guests so as to spread diversity (for example, she calls Nina over for larger body types).
Zoya: tea/politics channel but she's actually serious about it, does extensive research and never falls for drama or clickbaits. She swears a lot, but her audience can always rely on her to deliver facts and listen all of her sources and proof. She's also known to have made trolls/haters run crying to their mamas.
Nikolai: runs a monthly Ravkan history podcast! He often invites Zoya to give her view on current events and compare them to similar situations of the past, also providing analysis.
Inej: gymnastics channel! Her tutorials range from easy for beginners to hard enough that may make you break your back. She always looks encouraging, positive and active without overselling it or filling her videos with sponsorships. She also films her acrobatics performances and uploads them to encourage her fans to try new things.
Kaz & Jesper: it's a buzzfeed unsolved channel and im not even kidding. It was Kaz's idea but Jesper tagged along and now it's a mess. Kaz has a deadpan, unimpressed face every time they enter a clearly haunted building and Jesper screams and jumps if he as much as sees a bat. Milo is their channel's mascot and Jesper's emotional support!
Nina & Matthias: they run a cooking channel together, though Matthias is just her helper. It's obvious in every video he's madly in love with her & their banter is hilarious. They have done collabs with Fedyor's channel where they all play cooking simulators or invite Fedyor to help them make traditional Old Ravkan recipes! Ivan has also joined along sometimes, but he looks a bit lost.
Wylan & David: they run a science and chemistry channel together! Wylan also makes crazy experiments such as "dropping 1000°C metal ball into a pool of orange juice!" and David keeps listing facts about why these experiments are usually a terrible idea.

Buzzfeed Unsolved: The Suspicious Crash of Stanley Pines
The theme for @stanuary week 3 is Crime... what about... TRUE CRIME? I started watching Buzzfeed Unsolved this last summer, so I’ve been wanting to do something like this.
If you don’t watch Buzzfeed Unsolved, this is probably gonna seem like a lot of rambling.
On the morning of July Fourth, 1982 in the sleepy logging town of Gravity Falls, Oregon, there was a firey explosion that wasn't part of the fireworks and festivities. A car had gone over the edge of the town's famed floating cliffs.
"Floating cliffs?" Shane asked
"They're like, giant overhangs. They're not just floating up in the middle of the air like Pandora or something." Ryan explained, showing Shane a photo on his phone.
"Oh, that's pretty."
"It is really pretty."
"What a beautiful place for a car to careen over a cliff."
Ryan cracked up.
"You get a lovely view as you plummet to your death." Shane imagined.
Between 6:15 and 6:20 PM, the Gravity Falls Police Department received six separate calls reporting seeing a yellow car in flames drive off the edge of the cliff and crash to the valley below.
When investigators arrived on the scene, they found the remains of a crushed and burnt 1971 Subaru DL Coupe. The police report notes finding that the brakes were cut, and evidence of gasoline being poured into the driver’s seat to start the fire. Strangest of all, no body was found in or around the crash, only a few burnt strands of hair.
“So, right off the bat, real suspicious.” Shane commented.
“Yeah, and it only gets more suspicious from here.” Ryan assured his co-host.
“And I’m assuming there’s no chance that they guy, y’know, got up and walked away from the crash?”
“Oh, no, no way. You saw the picture of the cliffs.”
“Oh yeah, no way.”
“There’s no way anyone in the car would have survived that fall.”
“And it was on fire.”
“And it was on fire.”
Despite the lack of a body, the police determined from the few burnt strands of hair and an anonymous tip they received at 6:15 PM on the day of the crash, the driver of the car was one Stanley Pines, a 31 year old man from Glass Shard Beach, New Jersey. Allegedly, he had been coming to Gravity Falls, Oregon to visit his twin brother, Stanford, who lived just a ten minute drive from the cliff Stan’s car had driven off.
“Wait, wait, wait--” Shane interrupted Ryan’s explanation, “Twin brothers. Named Stanley and Stanford.”
“Yeah.”
“Who the f___ names their kids like that?”
“I know, right?”
“Were they identical twins?”
“Uh, I couldn’t find anything saying they were definitely genetically identical, but, uh, with the way this case goes, it’s safe to assume they were identical enough.”
“Yikes, I feel sorry for them growing up, can you imagine how often people got them mixed up?”
“Yeah, but imagine the kinds of shenanigans they must have gotten up to!”
“Oh, that’s true. There would have been plenty of shenanigans. Lots and lots of shenanigans.”
“If you had twins, would you give them cutesy twin names?” Ryan asked.
“No.” Shane answered firmly.
“I think I’d just do like, alliterative names. Nothing too similar.”
“Yeah, no I think twins probably have to deal with enough confusion bull___ without having to throw similar names or the same initials into the mix.”
“Interestingly enough…” Ryan started.
“Yeah, I’m guessing from your comments that the twin thing plays into this.”
When interviewed by the police, Stanford claimed his brother never arrived at his house. However, testimonies of other townsfolk reported seeing a red 1967 El Diablo with a distinctive “STNLYMBL” vanity license plate driving up the road to Stanford’s house earlier that winter. The house is out in the woods, isolated from the rest of the town, so no one would drive up that way unless they were going to see the cabin.
“Well what if they just wanted to take a walk out in the woods?” Shane countered.
“It was in early February.”
“Snowshoeing.”
“In a blizzard.”
“Ok, you do not have a weather report for the exact day they saw this car!”
“Two of the testimonies mention there was a snow storm that day. Plus, the license plate says STANLEY MOBILE.”
“Well, Stanley is a fairly common name.”
“You-you’re just being contrary to bug me now, aren’t you?” Ryan accused.
Shane just grinned.
What’s more, that same red El Diablo was the car Stanford now drove.
“What!?” Shane laughed with disbelief for a moment before putting on a mocking tone. “Uh, yeah, he never showed up, but, uh, I have his car. I’m still driving it. Y’know, seemed like a waste to just let it sit in the driveway.”
“He didn’t even change the license plate.” Ryan added.
“Oh, of course not!” Shane said sarcastically. “Why go through all that trouble?”
Upon further inspection, the car that crashed was registered to Stanford, and had been reported totaled almost seven years prior.
“It’s interesting that they say it was totaled.” Ryan commented. “Because totalled just means that the damage is more expensive to fix than the car is worth, so it could have still been drivable.”
“And if you’re trying to fake a car crash, what better to use than an already worthless car?” Shane agreed.
“Exactly.”
Stanley Pines was declared dead by auto accident and the case was closed in September of 1982, due to lack of evidence and quote: “A lack of interest from the involved parties”.
“A lack of interest from the involved parties!? What the h___ does that even mean?” Shane asked in bewilderment.
“It’s odd, to be sure.”
It’s when we look into the background of the presumed dead Stanley, and his brother Stanford, that this case becomes truly bizarre.
Stanley Pines left home at the age of 17, and had brief but unsuccessful careers as an amature prize fighter and as a salesman, before he turned to a life of crime. Prior to his reported death, he had been in prison five times, in three different countries, and had lived under at least eight different assumed names, with several others that were never confirmed. He had known ties to the mob and drug cartels.
“Quite the shady character. That might explain why the police didn’t look too closely into his ‘death’.” Shane put air quotes around “death”.
“Well, does it? I mean, if they thought his death might have been related to the mob…” Ryan argued.
“They know better than to mess with the mob, even in Oregon.”
“I mean, we have seen in several past True Crime episodes, what can happen if you mess with the mob.”
“Oh yeah.”
“You don’t wanna do it.”
“Nope.”
His brother Stanford was no less strange. He was born with fully-functional polydactyly, meaning he had six fingers on each hand. It’s worth noting that after 1982, Stanford no longer had 6 fingers. He claims that he had them surgically removed, because, quote: “I was sick of people staring.”
“Uh-huh. Sure.” Shane said doubtfully.
“You don’t believe that explanation?”
“Let’s just say I find it highly suspect.”
Stanford was also a certified genius, graduating with the most PhDs Backupsmore University had ever awarded. As a graduate student, he worked as a researcher and inventor for the US Government. Some sources say he worked on top-secret experiments.
In 1975, he received a $100,000 research grant, which he used to move to Gravity Falls and become a Paranormal Researcher. When he arrived in Gravity Falls, he was the subject of many rumors throughout the town, due to his reclusive nature and strange area of study.
“Oh, so this guy was basically you.” Shane pointed out.
“He’s basically me if I didn’t have you.” Ryan agreed.
“Awww, that’s sweet!” Shane placed a hand over his heart.
Many residents reported seeing strange lights coming from Stanford’s home in the woods starting almost as soon as he moved in, as well as strange sounds.
“Well, it seems like Gravity Falls is a pretty small town. People gossip.” Shane reasoned.
“Ok, yeah, but people gossip about who’s cheating on who, or what business secretly sells drugs out the back. They don’t gossip about strange lights coming out of the new neighbor’s basement.”
“They could. It’s gossip. Gossip can be about anything.”
Reports of the lights stopped in late January of 1982. Just four months later, in March, Stanford began opening up his home for tours, and in a matter of weeks, transformed his home into a tourist stop called the “Murder Hut.”
“Oh my g__.” Shane stifled a laugh. “A little on the nose there, don’t you think?”
“He did rename it to the Mystery Shack about a year later.”
“Hmm, yeah I wonder why?” Shane asked facetiously.
Stanford also exhibited paranoid behavior on several occasions before the crash, especially in the early months of 1982.
One local reported seeing Stanford screaming “No it isn’t, you creeps! I can see you just fine!” down an alleyway. Several other eyewitnesses reported seeing him fall out of his seat at the Triple Digits Truck Stop Diner on Route 14 and scream for something to “get out of his mind” before fleeing the building.
“So, he definitely seemed to think something was out to get him.” Ryan commented.
“Not the words of a sane man.”
“Unless something really was out to get him.”
“Eeeeh, even then…” Shane wiggled his hand in a so-so motion.
Dan Corduroy, one of the few people who had regular contact with Stanford before he opened the Mystery Shack, had this to say about the sudden change from research lab to tourist trap:
“Oh, he’s definitely been acting differently. He was really shy before, hard to talk to even. He seemed uncomfortable spending a lot of time with people. I’d invite him over to one of my family’s cabins to visit, but he only ever wanted to visit the haunted one while we were all out of town. I’d say it was a good change, though. It wasn’t good for him to be alone all the time like that. I’m glad he’s finally spending time with other people.”
“He only wanted to visit our haunted cabin.” Shane repeated with disbelief. “Hey, do you wanna come over to visit one of our cabins?” He put on a voice. “Uh, that depends, what kind of cabins have you got?’ ‘Well there’s one by the lake, one with a nice view of the valley, and one that’s haunted.’ ‘Oh, I’ll take the haunted one!”
“What gets me is he only wanted to visit the haunted cabin while everyone else was out of town. We’ve stayed in our fair share of haunted places, and it was bad enough staying overnight, just me and you, but there is nothing that could convince me to spend the night in one of those places all by myself.”
“I mean, I’m pretty sure none of the places we’ve been to have actually been haunted, but I see what you mean. It’s not fun to go to a haunted house by yourself. It’s kinda boring.”
“Um, we’re not gonna get into this discussion now, because we still haven’t even gotten to the theories yet, but you’re wrong.”
The case came to light again in August of 2012, when Federal agents arrested Stanford Pines, and detained him for several hours for questioning. By the next day, he had been released, and officials stated that his arrest had been due to a false lead. What exactly that false lead was, however, was never stated.
Now that we’ve gone over the extensive background of this case, let’s get into the theories of what really happened that 4th of July in 1982.
Theory #1: The theory put forth by the police, that Stanley Pines died in a fiery car accident.
“So then how do they explain what happened to the body?” Shane asked.
“It doesn’t say.” Ryan.
“And why were the breaks cut?”
“No explanation given.”
“That’s a stupid theory, those cops ought to be fired.”
Ryan stifled a laugh. “You’re not wrong.”
Theory #2: That Stanley killed his brother, made it look like his own death, and took over his brother’s life. This would explain the loss of his extra fingers, the sudden change in behavior that led him to open up the Mystery Shack, and his sudden acquisition of Stanley’s car. It does not, however, explain the lack of a body in the crash.
“He could have disposed of his brother’s body somewhere else, and then just like, left an ice block on the gas pedal and let the car run itself off the cliff.” Shane theorized.
“That’s possible. I was also thinking, maybe the body was gone. Maybe Stanley didn’t necessarily kill Stanford, maybe they met up in the woods, Stanford got eaten by a bear, and Stanley, who was already in trouble with the mob, took advantage of the situation, and faked his own death.”
“How--why did you work your fear of bears into this?”
“That’s just my variation on this theory.”
“Then why all the secrecy? Why not say that he was the one who got eaten by the bear? Why fake the car crash and then say his brother never showed up?”
“Because if the mob knew he’d talked to his brother before he died, maybe they’d come question him?”
“Oh, yeah, that’s a possibility.”
Theory #3: That Stanford killed Stanley and made it look like an accident. People who support this theory say the psychological trauma and guilt of killing his own brother may have driven Stanford to change his appearance and behavior to more closely resemble that of his dead brother.
“That’s… kind of a stretch.” Shane said slowly. “I feel like, Occam's Razor, theory 2 is more plausible.”
“What makes you say that one’s more plausible?”
“I dunno, just saying ‘He killed his brother and took his place’ seems a lot more likely than ‘The other brother killed him and the guilt drove him to act like his brother. I don’t think that’s how psychology works.”
Theory #4: Both brothers are still alive. Stanley, on the run from the mob, came to his brother Stanford for help. Meanwhile, Stanford was worried about someone or something that was out to get him. They came to a solution that would solve both their problems: switching places. They would fake Stanley’s death, throwing the mob off of Stanley’s trail. Then, Stanley would take Stanford’s place in the public eye, while Stanford went into hiding.
This theory is supported by photos that surfaced on Facebook in 2012. Several photos of Gravity Falls after a series of earthquakes did extensive damage to the town show what is supposed to be Stanford. However, another man that looks just like him is seen standing in the background. Interestingly enough, both mens’ hands are obscured in all of these photos.
While the photos haven’t been analysed by any professionals to definitively determine if either of the men are Stanley Pines, it has been determined that the photos are not edited.
“Would the whole photo recognition software even work on identical twins?” Ryan wondered.
“I don’t think so?” Shane answered unsurely. “I mean, my Facebook facial recognition auto-tag doesn’t even recognize my mom half the time, so I wouldn’t be surprised if twins throw it off.”
“Just looking at some of these photos yourself, what do you think?” Ryan handed a few print-outs from his folder to Shane.
“Oh wow, yeah, they do look alike.” Shane nodded. “Alright, yeah, I’m convinced. We solved it, guys! Video over!”
“We actually do have one more theory.” Ryan informed him.
Theory #5: Stanford was abducted by aliens.
“Oh for f___’s sake--” Shane threw his hands up in frustration. “We have four perfectly good, plausible explanations, and you have to throw that in!”
“This one actually does have some evidence behind it.”
“Bull____, but go on.”
Stanford was a professional paranormal researcher. Although he was very secretive about his research, even to his grant committee, some of his research notes do list looking for proof of ancient aliens visiting the valley before European contact. Could it be the thing he was afraid of was aliens?
“... That’s it?” Shane asked. “When you said this one actually had some evidence behind it, I thought you meant there was a UFO sighting in the same area around the same time.”
“The negative space between the floating cliffs kinda looks like a UFO” Ryan pointed out.
“Yeah, but that doesn’t mean a random researcher in the 80’s was abducted by aliens! That’s like, if I found a ransom note for you in the office, but I said ‘Well, Ryan was afraid of bears. Bears used to live in California, there’s one on the state flag outside our building. He must have been eaten by a bear.’ That’s the kind of leap in logic we’re talking about!”
Was this a case of fratricide? Or is this the longest and most elaborate twin switch of all time? For now, this case remains… UNSOLVED.
 * * *
“It was really hard for me to stay on topic while I was researching this one.” Ryan admitted as they wrapped things up. “There is a lot of weird stuff related to Gravity Falls, we should go there for an episode one of these days.”
“I’d love to do that, it looks like a beautiful place to visit.” Shane agreed. “Are you sure you wanna do that though? It seems like the place is crawling with haunted cabins and bears.”
“Well, one could argue this entire series is about me conquering my fears, so… Why not?”

This idea won't leave my head so
Techno finds out about the Xisuma truthers from Squid, who thought Techno's sudden interest in obscure mythology was because he was part of the club and came to mock him for it
At this point Techno has talked with Dream and Drista a few times and learned 1) Drista won't trust him and 2) Dream remembered nothing about being the god of life. He was determined to find some kind of source. He also knows squid is his long time enemy in every life, though squid doesn't. This makes him want to beat squid at everything even more.
Squid finds him in the mythology section and confronts him about being in the xisuma truthers. It's basically the buzzfeed unsolved meme where Squid is like "I've connected the dots." and Techno is like "You didn't connect shit."
Squid also thought he was in it because of Wilbur. Wilbur didn't tell Techno he was in the Xisuma Truthers because he had the idea he was protecting the gods and in this au Tech is still the favorite and Wilbur wants to make Phil proud and confusing the club. So Techno confronts him about it and Wilbur is like *shrugs* it's fun.
THEN Techno finds out about the Starbucks antis and their rivalry with the truthers. He interviews them, thinking they'll be on his side. Hel's basically tunnel visions though as soon as he hears the word truther and goes into a caffine induced rage. He roundhouse kicks at Techno who of course dodges it and runs out of the store. No way, he is staying far away from them.
Techno is back to square one and Squid is laughing from the corner. Finally, he can be the only student in their department with a 4.0.

@demcnsinmymind asked: ‘  what do you expect? what insight are you trying to gather from here?  ’
buzzfeed unsolved starters || accepting
Tracking down someone who doesn’t really want to be found is no small task -- Miles should know. He’s gotten good at flying under the radar himself, and Murkoff had done a damn good job of making sure his story never saw the light of day. These days they’re the only ones he has to hide from. There had been that other footage, shot by the whistleblower, but the corporation had thrown enough resources around to effectively bury what happened at Mount Massive. Other than whatever obituaries his family published, Miles’ story -- and his death -- never made much in the way of news.
      Not like this guy.
He’d made connections before trying to hunt him down. Started putting together pieces of puzzles that seemed too different at first, but whose pictures showed enough similarities to warrant further interest. Maybe Miles is just grasping at straws, trying to make sense of things that exist outside the realm of reason. Or maybe he’s really on to something. Either way, it became increasingly clear that if he wanted to get any further, he’d need a primary source. And who better to answer his questions than the man of mystery himself? Finding him hadn’t been easy, and then after brief introductions he’d had to convince Preston to meet in person. Somewhere public enough to tread just this side of cautious, but not blatant enough to attract any unwanted attention. The quiet coffee shop Miles is currently sitting outside of fit the bill -- now it’s only a matter of waiting for him to show up.
He’s lost in thought, scribbling aimlessly in his notebook and trying to quiet the nagging itch at the base of his skull with another long drag off his cigarette. Lost enough that when someone sits down across from him Miles reacts with a start, drawing a thick line of ink across the page he’d been marking up and coughing on his lungful of smoke. He mutters a quick “Fuck, sorry,” and stubs out his cigarette in the ashtray sitting on the table, eyes shifting briefly to his notebook as he does. Under the startled slash of ink, he’d been writing. All capital letters, the words thick and scratch-like. Miles doesn’t read past the first line -- ‘DEMONS IN THE WALLS’ -- before he’s turning to a clean page with the hand not preoccupied with the cigarette. Someone, or something, is trying to tell him something, but with more pressing matters at hand he isn’t in a mood to listen.
Then, finally, he looks up. And there’s Lance Preston in the flesh. Looks only slightly better than complete shit, but pot meet kettle and all that. Before he can attempt to make any kind of introduction he’s being asked a question that sounds like a censored version of ‘so what the fuck you you want?’
Tumblr media
“Miles Upshur,” he responds dryly. “And you must be Lance Preston.” Sighing, he elects to leave the formalities there, not offering a handshake. “Like I said in my emails, I just want to talk. Which I’m sure you’ve heard a lot, but... whatever happened to you, it didn’t happen in a vacuum. There’s other shit going on in the world, and if your shit is related to that shit, it’d be nice if I could figure that out.”

Summary: A ghost is haunting Reader’s home, so they get in contact with a close-by Ghost Hunter, Raymond Wadsworth.
A/N: the final day of my 7days7fics!!! I had a lot of fun writing these this could be read as platonic, could be read as romantic, depends on how you want to read it :). Also I'm sorry if there’s ANY inaccuracies with this one, I just went off the knowledge that I knew… which is basically from buzzfeed unsolved… not a super trustworthy source… anyways… and lastly, my sister read this and she said she got spooked at some parts, so just… proceed with caution. thank you all so much for the support! i really do appreciate it. check out my masterlist!
My house isn’t haunted. It can’t be haunted. Right? I mean, all my life I’ve lived in houses that were normal. I’ve never lived in a haunted house. And if they were, I’m sure I’d remember that. Though, I did have an imaginary friend when I was a kid, and now that I think about it, I don’t think it was imaginary.
So, if my house isn’t haunted, can someone tell me why my reflection wasn’t my reflection… And was instead the face of a little girl…? She was pale and translucent and looked… lost.
She looked lost until she jumped at me, causing me to fall back in my chair.
“What the fuck!” I jumped off the ground and looked back at the mirror. The little girl was gone now, and I was left staring at my own reflection. It was like nothing happened. Everything was… normal.
I was quick as I finished getting ready for the day, trying hard to ignore anything… out of the ordinary. But it felt so hard when the room went from comfortable temperature to freezing cold. A shiver went down my spine, causing me to squeal.
My house seriously can’t be haunted…. I just moved in! Maybe that was why the house was for sale. The previous owners were sick and tired of a creepy little girl wreaking havoc in their lives. Aren’t realtors supposed to disclose whether a house is haunted or not? Or was that just a myth?
I did what any other sane person would do: I ignored my problems and hoped they would go away on their own. That’s the right thing to do, right? I mean, I’ve done it before and those issues went away.
It was hard. At first, it was the lights flickering on and off, then came the clattering from the attic, then I would find the chairs in weird spots or pulled out from the table… And then what it was… was waking up with scratches on my arms, legs, and torso. That was what got me worried and scared.
I decided to stop being a normal and sane person. I couldn’t live like that anymore. So, I called someone. I was half expecting them to laugh at me and hang up. But, instead, they were very understanding.
“Ghost Hunting and Psychic Medium,” a woman spoke cooly into the phone. I pulled the blanket tighter around my body as I looked around my home.
“Yeah... Hey, hi, I was just wondering how much your services are?” my voice was soft as I spoke. It was hardly a whisper. I wasn’t afraid that the ghosts could hear me. I was… Yeah, no, I was afraid the ghost could hear me.
“Well, that depends on what you’re looking for. If your house is haunted and you need help putting the ghost to rest. Or, if you want to reach out to a loved one…” she continued, her voice droning on as she talked. I wondered if she actually liked her job.
“Uh… I think my house… is haunted.” I wrinkled my nose as I looked at the coffee table, watching as a magazine dragged off the edge of the table by seemingly nothing. “I definitely think my house is haunted,” I nodded and spoke quickly.
“Do you know by what?”
“What? What the fuck does that even mean?”
“What kind of spirit is it? Like, is it a poltergeist, because if it’s that we don’t do that. Is it a normal spirit? A ghost? Do you know what type of spirit? And have you seen any orbs?”
“What the fuck are you talking about? I just… I don’t know! I need help. That’s all. I just need help.” I spoke quickly, “The fucking magazine just fell off the table! I woke up with scratches on my body from nowhere! I just need help."
“I’ll send Raymond to your place, right away. What’s your name and address?” she asked, her tone suddenly calming as she spoke. I took a deep breath before giving her my address. “He’ll be over when he’s done with this client.”
“Thank you.”
“Oh! Real quick! Do you have any pets? Cats, dogs…?”
“No?” I raised an eyebrow, trying to not think about how weird of a question it was, “Is… Is that important?”
“Mmm, a little bit. Raymond will ask you more questions when he gets there. But, I can tell that you need our help with the urgency in your voice.”
“Thanks, I… I think…” I furrowed my eyebrows as my eyes shifted across the room.
“He should be over soon!”
“Thanks, again,”  I swallowed roughly before hanging up the call. I held my phone in a tight grip as I stared at the front door, waiting for the bell to ring or there to be a knock with the knocker.
‘Stupid old house,’ I thought to myself as I slowly nodded off.
However I wasn’t asleep for very long because 20 minutes later, there was a knock on the door, causing me to jump awake and fall to the ground.
“Coming!” I shouted, pulling the blanket tighter around my body as I shuffled to the front door.
When I unlocked the door and pulled it open, I was met with a tall, scrawny-looking guy who looked nothing like a ghost hunter or psychic or medium. He just looked like a normal-looking dude.
“Are you…?” he asked my name, looking at me with a friendly smile on his lips. I stared at him and nodded, forgetting that I gave his secretary my name earlier. “Perfect! Nice meeting you, I’m Raymond Wadsworth,” he stuck a hand out with his introduction.
“It’s… It’s nice meeting you too,” I stared at him before stepping to the side, “Thanks for helping me, by the way. I just moved in and I swear my house isn’t haunted,” I lied as he entered my home. My lie was foiled as a loud clatter followed by a bang came from up the stairs. “That’s the cat,” I lied, again, although I wasn’t sure why I was lying to begin with. I’m the one who called for help. I think my nervousness is making me lie. I’m pretending that I don’t need help when I really do need it; it was just a defense mechanism.
“You said you didn’t have a cat,” Raymond looked down at me with a raised eyebrow. I swallowed roughly before shrugging.
“I… I don’t,” I widened my eyes before stepping into my house a bit more. “Roommate?” I glanced over my shoulder and at Raymond. He didn’t seem too convinced by my lie. And to be honest, neither was I. “I thought I lived by myself,”
“When did you say this house was built?” he asked, looking around at the old crown molding before looking down at the original hardwood floors that creaked with every step.
“Uh… 1901… I think. I don’t remember. I just know it’s very old.” I stepped so I was beside him, making the floor creak with my step. Raymond jumped slightly at the sound, forcing me to hold back my snicker.
“People definitely died in this house then.” Swallowing roughly, he looked towards the staircase. Another clattering came from somewhere upstairs, causing me to jump behind him. It wasn’t like that’d do much help, honestly. I mean, standing behind a ghost hunter… while we’re both looking for ghosts… doesn’t really make sense.
“Sorry,” I looked over at him as I felt the terror grow in my stomach, “I can’t move out either… I just moved here two months ago…” I spoke as I gave him the tour of my haunted house. I really wished I didn’t move into a haunted house.
“You definitely do have some angry spirits here,” he looked around my home. I froze as we walked through a cold spot. “Dining room?” he looked over at me. I swallowed roughly and nodded before taking the lead back to the dining room.
“Do you need anything? Like, uh, water? I don’t know. I’ve never thought I needed to do this before,” I looked up at him as he placed his bag on the table.
“Do you have any offerings to give the spirit?” Raymond asked as I sat across from at the table. I looked at him as my hands folded on the tabletop.
“Uh… Er… An offering? I thought you were the ghost hunter here! Not me!” I watched as he set up a Ouija board and candles.
“Not a ghost hunter,” he looked up from the candles as he lit them. I furrowed my eyebrows before standing back up. “Do you have anything?” he didn’t exactly clarify what sort of offering I would need. So, I went in blind.
“Yeah, yeah, let me… Let me check,” I tapped my fingers on the table before walking away. I slowly walked back to the kitchen, my phone flashlight safely guiding the way in the dark, spooky halls and rooms of my home.
“Stupid offering,” I scoffed, rummaging through the cabinets for something, anything that would work as some sort of “offering” for this stupid ass ghost.
It was near impossible to find anything for this ghost. Granted, my food situation was a little on the lower side, seeing as I needed to grocery shop. Maybe this dumb thing would like.…
“Rice Krispies!” I exclaimed as I spotted the blue boxed cereal treat. I grabbed a few Rice Krispies before running back to the dining  room. But, before I made it, I seemingly tripped over nothing.
“Fuck!” I shouted, landing hard face-first into the floor. My hand found its way to my nose, feeling blood trickling down my lips. “Shit, shit shit,” I muttered as I scrambled to my feet.
“Did you find something?” Raymond looked back at me. I smiled, ignoring the blood coming from my nose, as I held up the 3 Rice Krispie treats I had. “What happened to your nose?” his shoulders dropped and worry took over his face as he looked at me.
“Oh! Uh, I tripped over the rug,” I lied, looking at him as I approached the table. I have one rug in the whole house, and it’s in the dining room. It was obvious that I had lied. He’s picked up on my lies covering for my fears.“I have… I have Rice Krispies! Will these work?” I looked down at the snack before placing them on the table.
“No-Well, yeah, they’ll work,” he shook his head as he picked up the treats. I nodded before rushing back to the kitchen, grabbing paper towels to hold to my nose. I returned to the dining room to find Raymond sitting at the table. The candles he had set up on either side of the Ouija board were lit, and the lights were turned off.
“Do you do this with your girlfriend?” I laughed, looking at him as I slowly approached the table. Raymond looked up from his book and right at me.
“I… I don’t have a girlfriend,” he furrowed his eyebrows. I swallowed roughly before sitting across from him. “Now, we have to summon the spirit,” he looked at me, watching as I nervously tugged my finger tips.
“You… You want to summon the spirit… H-here? Are you sure that’s a good idea,” I could feel my body shaking with fear with his words. I was already dreading this. But I knew something had to happen because I couldn’t live in a haunted house. Something had to go, and it wasn’t going to be me.
“We need to figure out why it’s here, where it came from, what it wants, and how to get it to leave.” Raymond looked at me as he placed his hands, face up, on the table. I stared at them for a moment before carefully resting my fingertips in his hands.
“Are… Are you sure you need me for this? I could wait outside if you don’t really need me,” I stared at him. The way the small flames glowed off his face only mildly scared me. The intensity of his eyes told me I should stay here. “Okay, I’ll stay,” I whispered.
Raymond started talking, bringing the ghost to the dining room with us instead of where it lived upstairs. I jumped out of my skin the second a loud bang came from my room. Raymond looked back at me, his grip around my hands tightening slightly. I couldn't tell if he was doing it to keep me still, or he was doing it to reassure me. I hoped for the latter.
“Everything will be okay. I’m scared too,” he whispered as he looked at me. I swallowed roughly and nodded.
“Don’t you do this for a living? And you’re scared?”
“Everytime I do this, I’m scared. Because, if it’s a vengeful spirit… I’m fucked. I just started this business with my partner last year. I’m in no way equipped to deal with a vengeful spirit or poltergeist. I just do pissed off ghosts who need help crossing over.” The way he spoke was almost sad. I couldn't exactly put my tongue on it, but there was a certain sadness in his words. “They get a little lost and get stuck in the homes of their former lives.”
“That’s… That's really sad actually,” I whispered, looking down at the Ouija board in front of me. “Don’t make me feel bad for ghosts. This thing has been tormenting me since I’ve moved here.” I looked back at Raymond and scolded. He only smiled and shrugged.
“Ready?” he asked as he removed his hands from mine and placed them on the planchette. I swallowed roughly, resting my fingers opposite his. “Are you here?” his voice was low as he looked down at the tiny window on the board.
I watched as the planchette moved across the board, slowly moving towards ‘Yes’. My heart was in my throat as I stared at the yes. I had to convince myself that this was real, and it wasn’t just Raymond messing with me. I mean, this whole thing could be a total scam and this guy I invited over is a total scam artist.
“Can you tell us your name?” Raymond asked, causing me to look up at him. He had a crease in his brow as he looked down at the board.
I looked back down at the board as my hands were moving with the planchette. It moved between letters, giving us the name Marjorie.
“That… that’s the name of the little girl I dream about,” I looked up at Raymond. He looked back at me with a raised eyebrow. “I only have dreams about every so often, like once a week.”
“She must be trying to get a message to you,” he looked back down at the board.
“Hello Marjorie, I’m Raymond,” he introduced himself to the spirit that was with us. “Can you tell us how old you are, Marjorie?”
My eyes dropped back down to the board, watching the planchette move to the number 1 twice.
“She was 11 when she died,” I whispered, staring at where our hands sat. My heart slowed as I stared. Swallowing roughly, I looked back up at him. “She’s just lost…” I blinked as my eyes began welling up.
“We’re here to help her,” Raymond reminded me. I nodded, feeling as a tear rolled down my cheek. “Marjorie, are you lost? Do you need help finding your way home?”
I was too distracted to see the answer. And the reason why I was distracted was because there was a laughter of a little girl coming from behind me.
“R-raymond,” my voice shook as my body froze. Raymond slowly looked up from the board and right behind me. “Please tell me you heard that too,”
“I need you to stay very still,” he whispered before he stood up. I watched as he walked beside me and knelt to the ground. “You must be Marjorie,” he looked behind me as he spoke.
“C-can I move?” I asked, swallowing roughly. And, before he even got the chance to answer, the candles were blown out and the room got very cold.
“Fuck,” Raymond muttered as he stood up straight. I looked up at him with wide eyes.
“Fuck as in “fuck she’s gone for good” or Fuck as in “Fuck she's fucking gone”? Because I don’t like the way you said that,”
“The latter,” he paused when more clatter came from upstairs. I swallowed roughly before turning in my chair to look at the stairs. “She must’ve gone up there. I’m willing to bet her bedroom is your current room,” he looked down at me.
“I-I’m guessing you want us to… go up there?” I stared at him. He dropped his head before nodding. I looked back at the table, looking at the Ouija board.
“I’m never sleeping ever again,” I muttered as I stood.
“It’ll be that way for a long time. But then someday you’ll have the best rest of your life, and you won’t even realize it,” he looked down at me. “Trust me, I speak from experience.”
“I mean, I suppose I have to trust you. I’m paying for you to get rid of this ghost… Which I feel bad about now… Now that I know it’s a little girl,” I sighed as I slumped my shoulders.
“C’mon, we should go see if she’s up there,” Raymond nodded, taking the lead from me and brought us towards the stairs. And just as we made it to the top of the stairs, his hand brushed with mine. I looked over at him with wide eyes. “You don’t have to hold my hand… I’m not that scared,” I laughed as his fingers interlocked with mine.
“I don’t know how to tell you this…” his voice was low, and he audibly swallowed.
“Tell me what?” I shivered as a cool shock went down my spine.
“I’m… I’m not holding your hand,” he looked over at me as he slowly lifted his hands. Swallowing roughly, I very slowly looked down at the space between Raymond and I. The ghostly figure of Marjorie standing between us, her hand encased with mine.
“Fuck!” Raymond and I both screamed at the same time before we both ran towards my bedroom. I slammed the door shut before locking it and pressing my back to it.
“Offering!” Raymond looked at me with wide eyes. I stared at him, feeling my heart jump to my throat from the fear.
“I-I gave you something,” I stuttered over my words as I vaguely gestured towards the kitchen.
“Do you have, like, something important to you?” he placed his hands on my shoulders. I swallowed roughly as I looked around my room. A tattered stuffed rabbit sat on my bed. It was something I’ve had since I was little. My dad had given it to me for my 11th birthday. It was the last birthday I had with him before he died. “Something that isn’t a lunch snack.”
“Why do you need something important?” whispering as I asked. My eyes went back to him.
“Marjorie is lost. She’s a disturbed spirit in your home and she needs help crossing over. Giving her something of great importance will help her cross over,” he explained as he kept his eyes on me. I swallowed roughly before nodding.
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll have to look." I stepped away from him as I went deeper into my room.
“Okay, I need… a mirror,” he turned as he watched me look in my closet. I turned to look at him, my eyebrows raising in confusion.
“A mirror?”
“I need to leave a simple message for her to figure out what she wants or needs. She can give us a message to help us… help her,” he looked over at the mirror by my dresser. My raised eyebrows slowly became furrowed the longer I stared at him.
“A message?”
“That’s what I said,” he looked over at me as he went up to the mirror. “Stay here, keep looking for that offering. I’ll be right back,” he pointed at me before exiting my room.
I was going to have to  pretend that I didn’t have anything of great importance. I wasn’t willing to give up that stuffed rabbit. Not now, not ever. Marjorie was going to have to want something else.  Or she was going to have to become like Casper the Friendly Ghost if she was going to stay here longer.
The door opened and closed with a soft slam.
“Hey, I have… this,” I held up a book that I got a few years ago from an old friend. It had no real importance to me anymore, but what Raymond and Marjorie won’t know won’t hurt them….
I turned around to show Raymond the object, my eyes looking at the cover of the book. When I looked up, I didn’t see Raymond. It was Marjorie that I saw.
“H-hi Marjorie,” I whispered, lowering the book. She stared at me as she slowly lifted her finger, pointing right at me. “R-Raymond!” I shouted, taking a step back. Marjorie copied my step, except she moved closer to me. “Raymond!” I shouted again, this time a little bit louder.
Raymond came crashing into the bedroom, looking at me with panic on his face.
“Oh, I-I see,” he caught himself before he could crash into me or Marjorie. He looked between me and the ghost as he slowly walked towards us. Marjorie’s head turned, her body staying put, to face Raymond before screaming and vanishing.
“Something tells me this book won’t work,” I lifted the book back up and looked at it. I wrinkled my nose as I looked back at Raymond. He was looking at me, watching me carefully.
“Do you have anything else? Something more important to you, maybe?” Raymond stepped up to me, his arm extending out to take the book from me. I looked at the book before looking over at the stuffed rabbit.
“Y-yeah, I do…” I sighed deeply, my shoulders slumping as I walked over to the rabbit. I picked it up and looked down at it. “It’ll be gone forever if I give it to her,” I pushed the ears back before resting my hand on its stomach.
Raymond looked at me, a certain sorrow on his face. “It’s the only way,” he whispered softly. I looked up at him and sighed deeply.
“How do you know?”
“When I went down stairs… On the bathroom mirror, she had written stuffed animal,” he stepped up to me, looking down at the rabbit in my hand, “She must’ve left hers behind… and she can’t leave without it,”
“I…” I stopped, cutting myself off with a deep sigh, “I guess… I guess if it’ll help her, she can… she can have it,” I swallowed roughly and looked back up at Raymond.
“I’m sorry it has to be this way.”
I shrugged before looking at the rabbit. “She can have it,” my voice cracked. I wiped my cheek on my shoulder and shook my head.
“Come on, the quicker we give this to Marjorie, the quicker you can have your home back,” he looked at me with sad eyes. I looked up at him and nodded. Raymond took the lead back down to the dining room, his set up with the ouija board cleaned up and my room was back to normal.
“Do I just-” I stopped talking when the little girl appeared beside Raymond and I. I looked down at her, watching as she was looking between me and the tattered bear in my hands.
“She’s waiting for you,” Raymond nodded at the bear. I swallowed roughly before lowering to the ground.
“H-hi Marjorie,” I smiled at her before holding up the rabbit, “This… This rabbit is super important to me… You take care of him… O-okay?” I held the rabbit closer to her and blinked.
Marjorie looked at me and nodded lightly before grabbing the rabbit from my hands. I smiled softly as she cuddled the rabbit before vanishing on last time. With a deep sigh, I stood up and looked at Raymond.
“Thank you so much for your services, Raymond,” I smiled sadly at him and nodded, “I’ll uh… You’ll send me a bill?”
“Don’t worry about it.” Raymond smiled and shook his head. “Happy to help you get rid of your problem,” he spoke as he collected his belongings.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, really… It’s no problem,” he held his bag over his shoulder, “Hope you finally get a good night’s rest,” he smiled before leaving. I smiled, standing alone in the dark dining room. It took me a long time before I finally moved to get ready for bed. But, when I did get to bed, it was the best night of sleep I’ve had in a very long time.
And, when I woke up the next morning, sitting at the foot of my bed was the rabbit I had given Marjorie the night before.

re: Young Bucks Carry On Wayward Son, i actually spend a fair amount of time thinking about what AEW could do to become a Tumblr Fandom lol. pro wrestling is absolutely one of those things that media fandom people should theoretically be all about (source: i got into it), and it already has loads of overlap with nerd subculture, and yet... there is a divide.
some of it is definitely a gender thing, at least in America, because wrestling communities are often extremely hostile toward women (and AEW is legitimately struggling to build their audience among women). i kind of wish i’d paid more attention to some of the early fan studies scholarship i read, because one of the things they talked about was how wrestling and sports fandom were overstudied at the time (in comparison to media fandom) because those were of interest to the (predominantly male) academics, and media fandom communities were almost exclusively women. naturally, i was like “yeah who cares about wrestling and sports!! 😤” and did not even glance in the direction of any of that research. but now i want to know what they were studying!
because wrestling is chronically under-researched and under-reported and under-respected, and is seen as cheap, disposable entertainment. but, like, so were the pulps!
there are many things that appeal to me about pro wrestling, but i think part of the reason why it captured my entire heart like it did is because it felt like in many ways the combination of every other type of media i’d ever been obsessed with or had any passing interest in. you get long plot arcs like you see in shounen anime, there’s magic and fantasy stuff, fake things becoming real, super cool costuming and spectacular stunt work that appeals to the part of me that enjoys ballet, intertextual references to every single other media property under the sun, extremely subtle and complex stories woven over a period of many years, which require a lot of analysis and interpretation, a vividly elaborate and in-depth world, and really well-developed characters and relationships. and the whole thing is combined with the kind of real person personality-driven content like vlogs and streams, which appeal to the part of me that likes let’s plays and Buzzfeed Unsolved or whatever, and coupled with twitter and such, it basically becomes an extremely immersive ARG, where we as fans are ourselves characters in this world, and can shape and influence it based on our support.
but of course, i did not know all of this about pro wrestling until i cared enough to give it a chance. and even once i started to become interested, there’s a long, steep climb from there to actually learning the right language to be able to talk about it, and developing an eye for actually watching it, and understanding enough of the characters’ history in order to interpret it.
maybe it’s just too different. too insular, too weird, too repulsive to people outside of it. i guess wrestling is sort of one of those things that people tend to have strong opinions about. either they absolutely love it or they hate it and don’t see the appeal at all. i have been in both camps lol. there was never a time in my life where i was neutral about it.
in any case, this post sort of got away from me, but i legitimately wonder what would happen if the Young Bucks entered to Carry On Wayward Son on november 5 lol. would that be enough to get tumblr’s attention? i think at least one post would probably go viral, like Kenny’s Sans entrance did, but probably most of the people reblogging it and memeing it wouldn’t know that they were maybe one or two google searches away from discovering an industry-shaking decade plus long gay love story, which is something that supernatural fans are sort of primed to be really into.
it kind of makes me wonder about how many hyperfixations i only narrowly missed getting into because i didn’t look close enough at a funny viral post or something, lol

Shane: One of these days, I'd love my eyes to turn black. Ryan: I would like that day to never come. Shane: I'm tellin’ you right now, if my eyes turn black, murder me. Ryan: I'm telling you right now, I will not kill you. Shane: WHY?! Ryan: Because I need to save you - Shane: No! Ryan: - and you'll come back, and then - there's two reasons for it - one, you're my friend and I need to save you - Shane: That’s kind of you, yes. Ryan: - two - two, I need you to eat crow when it comes to demons being real, because then, after I save you from being possessed, you'll be like, ‘What happened? Did I eat too many hot dogs or something and pass out?’ And I'd be like, no, a demon went inside your body and danced you around like a little puppet-man.
