I pray that if I'm ever in a relationship, it must be with a man who dances.
I'm not looking for a professional. I will take one who can't find the rhythm just as long as we are on the dance floor.
So many of my major family functions devolve into dance circles of women and step songs because none of their husband's and boyfriends dance with them. I spent enough time being the girl nobody asked to dance to end up with a man who won't even two-step. Hell, we can just sway singing in each other's faces.
A girl can only Turbo Time so many times, and I don't have the capacity to learn a new one.
It didn't used to be like this. The men who danced have gotten older. However, the problem is twofold. Most of the men and women just want to drink and smoke. Imagine spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on a hall and a DJ just for your guests to spend the event in the parking lot smoking weed and drinking.
Men take Mary J. Blige's advice and get your ass on the dance floor!
Ya know what, it's not even just a wedding thing. It's a club thing, too. They don't have dance floors anymore they have sections because y'all have fallen for the scam of bottle service. Guess what guys the bottle girl didn't want to fuck you she wants you to empty your wallet. How you expect to meet people in your velvet rope cubical?
I think my favorite things from this episode are like. between getting to learn more about Edred's past self and also about the relationship he has with his brother. Like I love how even in the past he was just as reckless and irresponsible as he is now (which makes me wonder if he was also 20/around his early 20s when he first met Melinda, considering he's 20 right now and acts really similarly (a.k.a. no thought head empty/acts on emotion more than critical thinking). It makes him such a fun and messy character to both dissect and study under a microscope KJJSKLGDJKLG But I love how now that he has the knowledge of a thousand years worth of lifetimes, he's able to more clearly see the damage his really careless mistake caused his homeland and how you can tell he does deeply regret what happened. I also just super loved that little detail of him being That conflicted over whether to choose his family and his kingdom or Melinda/Emma/his friends, bc it shows that even back then it just wasn't an easy choice for him to make (the only difference is now he's experienced being with his friends/beloved for so long that it only makes that decision even harder for him to make, even when he clearly loves and cares about his brother, father and kingdom).
But!!!! Something that didn't hit me until after a second rewatch was just how much I ended up adoring the relationship between Edred and his brother Aelwuf. I really, really love that it showcases how families in the elven realm are affectionate with each other (via big hugs and forehead touches;;;;; ), but also man I have So many fanfic ideas for just the antics he and his brother must have gotten up to alone KJGJKFDJKLGJKLSLKG It's both really sweet and incredibly heartbreaking that they'd do anything for each other, even if that means literally just straight up abandoning their original body to inhabit the others'. You could definitely tell Aelwuf was only willing and able to do that bc he loves and cares about Edred that much and probably started to understand the gravity of the situation after the group talked to him about Unicorn (bc aside from the whole beloved thing, Unicorn is definitely Edred's biggest priority). It just really struck a cord with me that their bond is that strong and that, in spite of everything that's happened, at the end of the day they're brothers and they'll always care for each other;;;;
Also a teeny tiny headcanon: After talking it over with one of my siblings after watching the episode, we concluded that it'd be really neat if the Northern elves are in control of the flora whereas the Eastern elves are in control of the fauna, hence why it was that much more important that their families didn't break the unbroken line bc it'd literally just straight up kill off their entire ecosystem
Also also teeny tiny side note but I hate Edred (/joke) for making my stomach drop when I thought he genuinely was gone like I was Inconsolable for a bit and then the second he rose up completely fine I was just, "Edred you're such an asshole" (/lovingly /affectionately) KJJSDGJKSDKLGLJK
I *wish* I could handle even slightly sharp dogs I have loved every single cattle dog I have ever met they are terriers pretending to be herders and they love life so so much
current canon ( rebirth, and n52 before, ) washed down the idea & moral conflict behind jason todd as red hood on many instances, such as making jason promise bruce, he won't kill. i'm not about that with my portrayal. i am all about the conflicts concerning his moral code & whether or not he's the lesser evil or even a necessary evil vs. the ones he pulls the trigger for. my interpretation is mostly based on lost days, post-crisis' origin story of red hood. this run establishes a few key aspects of jason: he knows exactly who he's killing. it's a decision made after a long term of surveillance. jason soldifies his moral code upon why he's choosing to kill. and there is a pattern: #1, #2, #3 ... more often than not, it's about children. in one case he even uses the term "boy soldiers," and that's an alarming reference to his robin days before he died. his empathy toward victimized women, the poor & minorities in general is well established and widely respected. most notably though, his protective stance toward children. and all that ties in with his traumatic experiences throughout his own childhood.
