⟅02.04.2024 — tem horas que eu sinto saudade de fazer uma capa rosinha* frufru e dessa vez, eu sinto no mais íntimo do meu ser que acertei FINALMENTE na fofura. Eu fiz essa capa ao som de Lana Del Rey – mais especificamente Summertime Sadness e Margaret – e juro, foi a uma hora que amei separar do meu dia para adocicar mais a minha vida pq estava precisando, eu estava sedento por algo mais leve. Aproveitando essa onda de pessoas aparecendo do boeiro pra dizer que conhece Soul Eater, eu tinha que dar as caras pq amo esse anime. Eu só tinha uma imagem de Crona e Maka e um sonho. Que bom que não desisti da capa, o começo dessa capa era horrível mas Laninha guiou minhas mãos e essa fofura nasceu, estou muito happy happy happy gente, não escondo e é sobre isso <3

Uma coisa legal que gostaria de dizer: Crona é um dos personagens que mais me confundiu quando eu comecei a ver anime e isso se deve pelo fato de que ninguém sabia que gênero desta criatura e foi justamente nesse personagem que criei meus primeiros headcanons de anime/mangá, um marco.

*Eu sei que não tá rosa rosa de verdade, e que essa cor é só um vermelho bem claro MAS eu vou dizer que é rosa sim, seguem o baile e finjam comigo pra minha felicidade.

Yeah tried to “finish” this meh piece so I had an excuse to share an “update” -

basically got hospitalised because of a reason, spend longer than expected because of incompetence of technicians, not sure how well my health is gonna be, so if I disappear again, it’s probably because of future complications and/or results of tests and doctor machinations.

Basically the real “desert of the real” is getting shocked by your defibrilator and having plumbers arrive half an hour before the ambulance.

But anyways, I know I’m sounding dramatic, and hopefully it all turns out alright so i don’t delay the story too much (or worse...)

Anyways to those that say that I had a lot of time before that I wasted while I was feeling healthy and that I should have done more during it - yeah...sorry

this is gonna be an insane thing to talk about to but one of the things that makes bmj so enjoyable to watch even as a very obviously limited animation kids show from the early 2000s is that it often surprises me in how colorful it is. one of the most consistent artistic elements of the show is the delicate mix of saturated nature tones combined with the often duller mechanical/alien ones, which bring to life a kind of washed, cel-like feeling to even some of the most mundane shots. see below

This is a kind of color grading and production quality that wasn’t even seen in a lot of more elaborate, higher budget productions in the 2000s. the transition to “digipaint” anime (aka digital animation over cel animation) often left many anime with drab, flat, and what I can only describe as “sun-bleached” colors in their final masters, which while probably deliberate for some productions, rarely looked good and resulted in a homogeneity of digital production stuck in the transition to new technology

Note the muted palettes, the lack of saturation in the skin, the grey shadows, the sometimes weird green color grading, etc.

I’m aware that this kind of groddy digital look has a place in anime history and also in the nostalgia and fondness of many people who watched anime in the early digipaint era. it can look good after all when the artists are more aware of color theory and how to properly utilize a more “degraded” color palette, such as the iconic soul eater:

But bringing this back to BMJ it’s just another of those subtle notches of effort in the show that peels back the love the artists put into the production. It gives a life life feeling to the characters and the lens through which the audience views the entire scene of events, a narrative steeped in automatic identities facing off against autonomy becoming itself and moving not just past grief but through it.

also it just looks nicer than 80% of the shows in the early 2000s and I think it deserves its chops

Toji: I just feel like Tojo calls women bitches. Like. Not his wife (most of the time) but I feel like he calls women bitches behind their back and too their face. Idk I js feel it.

Mahito: he doesn’t do it as in

“Bitch shut up” he’ll wait for someone else to do it and then go

“*gasp* how rude! You can’t call that bitch a bitch! That’s rude!” Or something like that

Gojo: gojo doesn’t call women bitches i js don’t think he would. But instead of saying “why are you being a bitch?” He’d go “what’re you on your cycle or something??”

Megumi: not to their face. Under his breath tho. Like imagine getting told off by your mom or sm, walking away, and mumbling “bitch” under your breath snf that’s what I think megumi does.

Nanami: no way, just wouldn’t.

Sukuna: sukuna calls everyone bitch including women. He’s just mean.

Itadori: same as megumi, I think there’s actually a scene where he did mumble “bitch” at nobara

Inumaki: yes. And here’s why. Who’s gonna know? He can call anyone anything but who’s rlly gonna call him out on it?? No one knows what he’s talking about half the time cuz he speaks in food. And if I were him I’d be saying vile things everyday in my food language.

Luffy:

“Hey! You can call her a bitch! Sure she’s rude, and short tempered, and snakelike but cmon!” That’s exactly what i think he’d do

Ussop: says it under his breath and when you ask him what he said he’ll smile and say “nothing!” Or “I was js talking to myself”

Zoro: yes. Not all the time cuz he doesn’t care that much but I just feel like he would.

Frankly: never he’s too old schooled for that

Sanji: wouldn’t dare

Ace: yes but not in a rude way if that makes sense.

Chopper: did it once. Only once. And got his ass kicked so he never did it again

Soul (soul eater): eh yeah

Kyoya (Oruan host club): no but it’d be so funny if he did
