I was going through some soukoku posts and kept seeing the "I hate them (affectionate)" tag so I got curious and yknow, looked through every skk post I've ever interacted with (like a sane person ofc) to check and....

I think you single-handedly make up 75% of those tags 😭 you might've even popularised it and I thank you from the bottom of my heart because "soukoku's unconventional mating rituals" and that tag are the SUPERIOR skk tags and no one can tell me otherwise. Can't take off my mind this very specific flavor of sskk dynamics from a timeline that goes like: the doa arc never happened. Skip forward to bunch of years past the canon events, and you have sskk who can't really call each other enemies since it's now evident to everyone they enjoy seeing each other, but aren't friends either since they do very much still work for enemy organizations. And they just keep stumbling across each other on their respective missions from opposite fronts, trying to capture the same target for their own team, and they keep fighting and competing with each other in a way that is almost playful (but never going easy on each other because then where's the fun!), making them both almost look forward to meet and clash with the other on missions and to fight for the same target. And the mission accomplishment rate has now decreased to a 50% for both of them but neither of them can bring themselves to really care because for the first time they're having the carefree, mindless fun they never experienced in their lives and they have a person they enjoy to spend time with to the point they even got past denying it. And Atsushi telling Akutagawa “even if I let you go now, I'll still have to hunt you down” and Akutagwa replying “hunt me then” and theatrically disappearing out of a window or something leaving Atsushi laughing and just. them being together although nobody is going to say it out loud

Stupidly vibrant red hair and mismatched brown and blue eyes paired with a painfully pitiful height. Behold: Nakahara Chuuya, in the flesh.

“A sight to rival a million dollar masterpiece-”

Fuck.

He sounded the same; the unique rasp as prominent as ever curling around his words- the result of a lifetime of shouting and irreparable damage to his voice box from when he had crawled out of Suribachi city.

It wasn’t that Dazai was blind- he recognised that Chuuya managed to be an anomaly where most things were concerned. He just didn’t expect to have a heart attack from the sheer and abrupt concentration of Chuuya.

As someone with near unparalleled mastery of their body, being caught off guard wasn’t a common nor particularly pleasant experience. But, as he tended to do whenever in near vicinity of Chuuya, he fumbled.

Resisting the urge to ask something inane such as ‘You think I’m worth a million dollars?’ He went with something just as embarrassing but much less desperate.

“The worst,” he mutters, like an idiot. “Absolutely the worst.”

There, he’s fucked it up. 4 years of thousands of plans for their reunion, and not a single one of them without a genius insult granted to make Chuuya fly into rage. The age old fascination reared its ugly head and hit Dazai full force, merciless in its inelegance.

“What a lovely response, it makes me want to strangle you,” Chuuya says pointedly, as irritatingly observant in regards to Dazai as ever.

Cracking his fists menacingly, Chuuya smirks; the actor in the spotlight; the villain in the scene; on script as always, Mori would laugh watching the feed later.

Like a game of particularly tedious ping pong, it’s Dazai’s turn to respond. Awfully, embarrassingly, he fumbles. 

Again.

The problem, Dazai was beginning to realise, was that he had never accounted for the fact four years of no contact did absolutely nothing to smother the urge to pick Chuuya apart piece by meticulous piece to examine what exactly made Chuuya so… Chuuya.

“Well, well,” he starts, longing for a nice river. “The chibi in black is talking,” and then, because Dazai was a very sorry shameful being: “I’ve always wanted to ask why you bought that tacky hat.”

Why? Why would he say that? He was spying on Chuuya when he got the hat through the bug he snuck in. He was there during the entire Verlaine fiasco. He knew what the hat was for and who it came from.

Even Chuuya had paused at this, taken aback by his pathetically miserable attempt at gaining some sort of control over the play.

Just end me, he begs in the safe confines of his mind where he couldn’t possibly embarrass himself any further.

Well either way he got a new partner ( dazai not happy about it), became frenemy with ranpo ( if it's ada chuuya he Can even be his new partner) , solve misteries, got into shenaningan, have his new found family arc , he Can even get a dog and a Sword as a treat.

He have father and son bonding moment with murase and is convinced by him to go to school ( just imagine chuuya in the soccer club) , get into drama with dazai who didn't took his departure well with odasaku and ango trying their best to act as his not paid enough for this shit impulse control.

Soukoku get into shenaningan and get together after having make all of Yokohama suffer throught their unconventional mating ritual ™ ( ft jealous dazai and oblivious chuuya ).

And chuuya is happier ( well they're still angst but what is bungou stray dogs without angst) , as for mori you can have him been this sinister and manipulative villain but i prefer him as making plan more and more ridiculous to get chuuya's back while dazai suffer to having him moan about the loss of chuuya which dazai because he's petty like that count in his list of grievance ( which is a whole book serie at this point).
