Super poly trio. 18, 25, 30. Or if you wanna do one by one, then 18 scortrapta, 25 catrapta, and 30 Scorptra respectively.
18. Who leaves little notes in the other’s one lunch? (Bonus: what does it usually say?)
Scorpia 100% leaves little note in the other's lunches, but let's be real 99% of the time they are little doodles she's done. Often stick figures, maybe something cool she saw and wanted to share, a lot of very poorly drawn food stuffs too! ("What's this?" "It's a ham sandwich with extra cheese! You know, just like your lunch today :D" "...yes. The- absolutely. I can see this now.")
Entrapta is more likely to leave some little mini snack items in lunches, and sometimes a stick of 3-in-1 instant coffee if she thinks one of them will need it later in the day. Catra is more likely to actually make/pack the lunches than anything else, but on occasion she'll slip a note into Scorpia's lunch too. It's usually super schmoopy and ends with "burn after reading". Scorpia has a little scrapbook for them and the wrappers from Entrapta treats.
25. Who needs more assurance?
Catra needs the most assurance. She gets paranoid and anxious, and does a lot of pulling back and testing when she does. Verbally telling her is not a great way to do it though, as she tends to see it as lying or manipulative when she's worked up like that. So it has a lot more to do with respecting what she says and giving her space than anything else. Once she's started to calm down and feels shitty about having gotten so up in her head verbal assurance can really help out.
Entrapta usually doesn't need assurances because she meticulously tracks relationship data and that often is enough for her. But when she does need it, oh boy does she need it! Catra is good at following along with her interests and enjoys a good snuggle session but struggles with words. Scorpia is the big affirmations gal of the super poly trio and, in case you didn't know, gives excellent hugs. Entrapta needs a lot more, "Be logical about this, if we hated you would we-" sort of stuff but just some simply I love yous really does mean a lot too.
Scorpia tends to hide her worries better than the other two, so it's harder to know when she really needs the help. She's used to being the "positive helper" and so she also struggles to admit when she can't be. We've seen Scorpia catastrophize in the show and I think she let's her mind run away with things, but usually looking over the notes Entrapta takes (she specializes everything) helps and getting either of them to say something and then cuddle her helps more than you'd think.
I really see the trio as a group that often will see someone sitting alone on the couch at a random hour staring blankly at the wall, and then the other two have their ways of helping out.
30. One headcanon about this OTP that mends [your heart]
Not sure how to explain this honestly, but I see super poly trio as being pretty fluid with one another. Like, they've dated in different configurations as they fine tune the throuple and figured out boundaries. So one of them saying, "Actually I'm no longer comfortable with kissing" is met with "Okay, thank you for telling us, anything you want to do instead?".
I don't know man, I just think that after all they've been through, they might look really weird or dysfunctional to an outsider but are just really open and more understanding with each other, meeting at their own levels if that makes any sense?

catra
Ooh okay
Tumblr media
Favourite thing about them
I was a big fan of the parallel between her descent into despair versus her continuous rise through the ranks of the Horde until she had eventually all but deposed Hordak himself. She keeps fighting her way down this path and blaming her emotional problems on minor Horde-related because she's burying her real emotions. Seeing her begin to shed that mentality in the Crimson Waste was super cathartic, only for her to fuck it all up again once she learned that Shadow Weaver had left her for Adora.
Least favourite thing about them
Cats don't actually have prehensile tails The way she pushed Scorpia away was necessary for her character, but still felt needlessly cruel at times. Let the big scorpion lady be happy :(
Favourite canon relationship
The easy answer is Catradora and that's what I would have answered with 18 months ago when I first watched the show, but in our recent rewatch I really liked her dynamic with Glimmer. Not necessarily as a ship. I just think they work well together because they are each the sort of angry semi-chaotic part of their respective teams. Their relationship on Prime's ship was something special. Tipsy has also made me want to see a lot more of Entrapta and Catra.
Favourite non-canon relationship
That meme with a big book and a small book, and the big book says "SPOP" and the small book says "SPOP if Scorptra was canon". I think Shado might have literally made this meme, I can't remember.
Sexuality headcanon
She's canonically a lesbian so not much more to say here.
What I'd do if I could spend the day with them
Early seasons: attempt to survive. Post-Prime: I feel like she'd get overinvested in a violent shooter video game and I'd end up playing that with her. Alternatively I want to take part in a Roll With It-style DnD campaign with her because she never got that opportunity in the show.
Random fact that I like
By combining multiple Word of God statements you can argue that her full name is Catra Applesauce Meowmeow.

oh yeah since I have new peeps here is a rundown of myshe ra kiddos +finally adding some i never talked about. Ages are just to show gaps between kids, they are not "canon". Under the cut stuff. I uh....ramble
Glimmadora:
Harper-20, eldest daughter/child. Born Feb 1st. She/Her, Demi-Bi. Heir to Brightmoon, gets called 'AJ' (Adora Jr) a lot by Glimmer since she looks and acts a lot like Adora. Has shoulder length two toned blonde hair (top half light like She-ra, bottom darker like Adora) with sparkles at the edns, sparkling purple eyes shaped like Adora's, tan skin like Glimmer, glasses, sometimes wears a hearing aid in her right ear. Has cream/purple wing markings on her back that later will turn into feathery cream wings with purple tips.
Sound based powers (cause my brain was like light and sound) but still can create light stuff they just make sounds also. Also can turn invisible. Being unable to control the powers as a toddler, she lost her hearing in her right ear. Everyone in the family knows sign language.
Smart af, witty, as the eldest of all the kids can be protective to a fault, anxious, wants to not fuck up and be a great queen. Will overwork herself and is a perfectionist, though can be forgetful. Is a great shoulder to lean on/be listened to.
Grows to 6' (she got them angella genes (who is alive in this au, not micah) and athletic build like Adora. Named to match the 'er' at Glimmer's name, her sound powers, and the Lyra constellation. Glimmer was the one to have her.
Mira-13, youngest daughter eldest twin. Born July 9th. She/Her, Lesbian, about 5 mins older than Micah. Powerless Princess. Got her great aunt and grandpa's hair color, pale skin (same as Adora), ice blue eyes shaped like Adora's, freckles on face. Usually has hair in ponytail held up by that butterfly pin from princess prom. Also almost always has a red cloak around her. Called 'Mimi'
Born with no magic and not connected to the moonstone (long story short in my au, First Ones cannot use magic without help or it will kill them. Mira got the most FO genes thus she cannot use magic. Whole ass idea i need to explore). Tries to make up for it with fighting skills. While she doesn't show it a lot, she hates the fact she is powerless and will not grow wings either.
Clever, rebellious, loves to explore. Can have a temper to her, wears her heart on her sleeve. Natural born leader. Butts heads with her mothers the most and has run away a few times (once for a very very long time heh). At the end of the day, she doesn't want to be in the shadow of anyone/wants to make her own mark.
Grows to 5'6", chubby build like Glimmer. Named to match the 'ra' in Adora's name and the 'Mi' in Micah's name. OG she was going to have healing powers before I got rid of that so it was also sort for Miracles. 'Mira' is a star, one that is an actual shooting star. Adora was the one to have her
Micah-13, youngest child only son. Born July 9th. He/Him and They/Them. Demi-Boy. Bi, about 5 mins younger than Mira. Has spell powers. Messy, chin length dark purple hair (the same shade as the bottom half of Glimmer's hair), sky blue eyes with sparkles and shaped like Glimmer's, freckles on face. Light tan skin (between his sisters). Has purple wing markings on back and later will get purple feathered wings. Called MJ (Micah Jr) or Mickey
Like his grandfather, great aunt, and Ma before him, he can use spells. Struggles with it but eventually learns he is best at defensive ones. They look up to many of the guards in the castle and wants to be one when he grows up.
Quiet, soft spoken, nervous boy. Def keeps his twin sister from doing something totally stupid. Trusting, sometimes too much, can hold grudges if wronged badly. Tries to see the best in others. Named to honor his grandfather, they want to live up to them and be a great sorcerer
Grows to 5'11, more avg/a bit stocky build. Named to match the 'Mi' with Mira and as Micah is dead in this still (i made them a long time ago) after him. Adora was the one to have them.
Scorpia's Kid
Onca-13, only child of Scorpia. Born May 4th. They/Them. Non-binary Pan. Magicat/Scorpion. OG a scorptra kid but Catra no longer with Scorpia. Has medium length snow white hair, usually in a small pony tail, light brown skin, amber eyes (only iris has the color not the whole eye). Cat fangs and white cat tail. Has those scorpion shouler pads and venom their fangs (not as strong as their mother's) and blue blood. No fur. Called 'Onc' or by Scorpia her 'Lil' Kitling'
Has electrical powers like Scorpia. Venom will only make the part they bite numb, does not fully knock anyone out. Is quick on their feet.
Laid back, quick to adapt, resting bitch face, can be a little lazy, sometimes acts without thinking, and easily distracted. Before growth spurt, they were small and grew a hatred of being seen as always needing help. Just a gentle giant really.
Grows to 6'3, strong build like Scorpia. Named after the latin species name of the Jaguar.
(i so need to work and the following kids more rip)
Bowfuma
Robin-18, eldest son/child of Bow and Perfuma. Born March 20th, He/Him. Gay. Dark brown skin, dark brown, short hair, dark brown eyes. Wears glasses. Has plant powers. Called Robby. Heir to Plumeria.
Plant powers are a WIP kind of, might be like Perfuma or a little dif but is connected to the Runestone. Knows some archery but prefers a crossbow.
Self assured, he knows who he is and what he wants to do, fair-takes both sides of an argument into account. Is the least likely to cause shit. Can be messy and hates when his things are moved. Procrastinator.
Grows to 6', lean build. Named after both Robin Hood, the archer, and the bird
Eliza-16, only daughter. Born Sept 15th, She/Her, Aro/Ace. Dark brown skin, dark brown hair in two braids, dark brown eyes, freckles. Needs glasses but wears contacts. Powers allows her to talk to animals. Called 'Liza'.
Also connected to the runestone, Eliza and talk to animals. She actually started to talk to them before speaking to her parents. When she talks to them, to others it sounds like she is making the animal sounds.
Passionate and loves animals. While her cousin Mira puts her energy into trouble, she puts it into being outside and building things or helping her mom and dad. Hates being stuck inside. Can be whimsical. Loves to be challenged and doesn't back down from stuff, even when maybe she should. Can be a bit dense.
Grows to 5'8", lean build. Named after Eliza Thornberry.
Ash-15, youngest of their siblings. Born Nov 23rd. He/She/They genderfluid. No real label-uses queer. Medium brown skin, medium length, wavy blonde hair, dark brown eyes. Freckles. Has no powers but does not mind it at all.
Unlike his younger cousin, Mira, Ash does not care they do not have powers or are not next in line for the thorn. They are happy to just learn from their father or others. Kind of a jack of all trades.
Has a big heart and a love for all life. Once she is set on something, she sees it through to the end. Very observant of the world and what goes on in it. Can be impatient and doesn’t always take things seriously. Jokes way to often. Free-spirit
Grows to 5'10", thin build like his mom. Named after the type of tree which you could use to make a bow.
Seamista
Newt-18, oldest and only son of Sea Hawk and Mermista. Born Dec 11th, Trans Man He/Him, Pan ace. Dark brown skin, dark brown eyes, short blue hair. Has no runestone powers but can still turn into a merman when in the water.
Newt was next in line for the throne but stepped down, not liking the idea of being a king. He likes to spend time at the beach, swimming, and enjoying being in the sun. Usually keeps his sisters from killing each other.
Hard worker, does not usually slack off, does hate being in the spotlight. Humble. Good at reading emotions. Can lose track of time easily. Has his mother's dry sense of humor. Will faint at the sight of blood
Grows to 5'7", build like Sea Hawk. Named for the salamander that is associate with fire. And with it being an amphibian and transitioning from one stage to another, kind of works there also.
Sandra-15, oldest daughter. Born Mar 7th, She/Her, Pan. Medium brown skin, brown eyes, dark long brown curly hair. Has water based powers (still a WIP whoops). Can turn into a mermaid when in the water.
After her brother stepped down, she is now the heir to her kingdom. Still working a bit on her powers but is connected to the runestone. FIGHTS with her sister all the time.
Very much a girly girl, loves pink, skirts, sparkles, all that jazz. Takes her role as princess seriously. Dutiful and punctual. Hates messes, likes things to be neat. Does not like things randomly being dropped on her.
Grows to 5'8", Mermista's body build. Nickname is Sandy and is called that the most. Named cause yeah....sandy.
Yamuna-12, youngest child/daughter. Born Apr 13th, She/Her, Greyromo/sexual Lesbian. Long blue hair though will dye it many colors, usually orange, light brown skin, brown eyes. Water powers. Cannot fully turn into a mermaid when in the water, just gets webbing and gills.
She can control the temperature of the water around her, freezing it or boiling it at will. Is a great sailor
Pure Sea Hawk child, pretty much his clone. Wild, hyper, will set shit on fire. Takes pride in everything she does. Will blurt out things without thinking and can be pushy. Doesn't like to be told to do things. Zero filter.
Grows to 5'2", small body build. Named after one of the largest rivers in India.
(these guys are VERY WIP so not much to them)
Ada-Entrapta child, on the younger end. Adopted, trans woman, het. Does love robots and what not, helps their mom out a lot. Probably can run on little sleep and still be fine. Name was given to me by my good friend Dorku named after Ada Lovelace, a mathematician and first computer programmer. Very close with Onca
Luka and Felix-Catra's sons, adopted. Both magicats. Catra moves away from everyone and wouldnt really come into focus until much much later when Mira runs off. Luka and Felix idk ages yet but are only a year apart in age. Luka means light (he is one of Catra's lights now) and Felix is a cartoon cat. Would become close friends with Mira later on
(im too lazy to proof lmao and free to ask questions or change stuff up lmao god)

I’m not worried about She-Ra
Okay, for the anon who was asking about this, today I finally watched the “I’m worried about She-Ra” video. I agree with many of the op’s observations, like how it’s tricky to show shades of grey in kids’ media, and how with the expectation of a happy ending for everyone it’s hard to send healthy messages about how to handle abusive relationships. However, I think there are a few nuances she missed.
For one, the abuse is not strictly a chain. While Hordak did behave somewhat abusively towards Shadow Weaver at times, his aggressive behavior did not cause Shadow Weaver to become abusive. Shadow Weaver was already like that, even if she did perhaps take out some of her Hordak frustrations on other people (namely Catra). So, I don’t count her as a character who is both abusive and abused, unlike Hordak and Catra. This makes her prime fodder for the “you don’t have to forgive your abuser/everyone gets a happy ending” clause the op wanted to see.
Also, I don’t feel like the idea of there being a “honeymoon period” in Catra’s interactions with Scorpia and Adora makes sense. It definitely does for the way Shadow Weaver and Horde Prime treat people, but we never really see Catra act like she’s trying to win Scorpia or Adora over with kind behavior, purposely drawing them back in so she can abuse them some more. She definitely doesn’t with Adora, and with Scorpia their honeymoon phase of sorts was genuine - Catra really was coming to trust, rely on, and even like Scorpia. That only went south because of 1) Hordak imprisoning and banishing Catra and 2) Catra finding out that Shadow Weaver ran off to Adora when she escaped. Catra’s unstable behavior had nothing to do with Scorpia, nor was it an attempt to manipulate her. That doesn’t mean it’s okay, but it’s not the abusive pattern the op made it out to be.
Besides that, it’s really oversimplifying Catradora to just say Catra is an abuser and move on. Catra sees Adora as someone who was abusive to her because she made her feel like a worthless sidekick and wrecked her emotionally when she abandoned her, not to mention she was (at least in Catra’s eyes) complicit in Shadow Weaver’s abuse. And in season 1, Adora was actually a massive dick to Catra up until the point Catra helped her escape. This is a very complicated relationship and it’s not just one person abusing their power over the other.
Scorptra is an abusive relationship though, and I agree with the op that Scorpia telling Catra she can’t be friends with her again or needs time before she can be is a healthy message, much like her decision to leave in the first place. Personally, I do hope they will reconcile to some extent, but I also hope Catra will have to earn that. And when balanced with other abusive relationships not being forgiven, I don’t think that’s unhealthy. Because while kids (and adults) need to see that it’s not only okay but healthy to cut ties with abusers, they also need to see that there is a way back, that there is hope, that you can change. People who have been hurt and lashed out at others because of it need to know that they’re not destined to be monsters. Whatever happens with Scorptra, we need to see Catra redeemed, because she does fit the “abused character” profile more than the “abusive character,” even though she is both.
The op’s main point about what she’s worried about... thing is, I really don’t think the creators are planning to let Catra and Hordak’s sins go unaddressed, and certainly not Shadow Weaver’s. The show does seem to be making a point about people needing to take initiative themselves and take responsibility for their own actions. I don’t know how this will work with Hordak, if he will even remember anything or not, but yeah I don’t think the dictator/mass murderer is going to be happily accepted back into society. He may have to leave Etheria and forge a new path for himself, and honestly? That would feel like a satisfactory arc to me, because achieving independence and self-confidence would be a big win for him, but he would not be magically absolved of his sins by the power of friendship.
So yeah, basically I understand the op’s concerns, but I think she oversimplified things a little. And I have more faith than her in the writers given their work so far and their backgrounds, faith that they will continue to balance the dark themes with the light and treat the topic of abuse with the seriousness it deserves.

opinion on scortra?
It was an unhealthy dynamic for most of the show but I do have a soft spot for it.
I never really full on shipped it but ngl I did come close to shipping it in S3 lol. And while it obviously wasn't to the extent of how she felt towards Adora I DO think Catra had some feelings for Scorpia while they were in the Crimson Wastes, sort of similarly to how I think Adora had a crush on Huntara. She had a few blushy moments with Scorpia and when Scorpia asked her to stay with her in the Crimson Wastes, Catra looked like she was considering it for at least a few moments.
In a world where Catra wasn't in love with Adora and Scorpia didn't move on with Perfuma, I think Scorptra could have been cute once Catra worked on herself like she did in S5 and made amends. They had chemistry.

003 Catra
Alright! My feelings on Catra as a character are a little complicated. I tend to find myself in the minuscule side of the fandom when it comes to most of my thoughts about her. But, maybe hear me out and let me know what you think of my answers:
1.) How I feel about this character:
This is such a huge question. Catra is a super interesting character in the sense that I think she sort of falls into the same realm as big complex bad ladies like Azula. But at the same time, she doesn’t totally succeed for me in that realm, because at the heart of it, Catra (eventually showed us in season 4) and the writing have both stated, ‘her heart’s never really been in it’. Now, I would really argue this point based on a lot of various scenes throughout the show, but I do agree that she’s maybe never had the same vitriol or wherewithal as a villain like Azula--who was so dominating and heartless that it didn’t really matter if you sympathized with her as a character or not. She was just a fucking capable cool badass that acted as a narrative foil to Zuko.
I don’t think Catra pulls it off in the same way, although I feel like that’s where they were trying to take it. Catra is a good character in the sense that we need to see way more complex and messy female characters in media. She’s definitely complex, definitely messy, definitely sympathetic in some ways. But she’s also a really terrible person. And, in my opinion, not just after Adora leaves the Horde. She’s shown in episode one to be fairly selfish and self serving and petty. That just gets exacerbated as she gains power.
I’m hoping season 5 gives Catra a chance to show that she has a modicum of desire to be a decent person. But right now, she’s a disaster. I’ll get into what I hope canon does with her later.
2.) Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character:
Realistically, I don’t ship anyone with Catra. I don’t think she’s ready for it, nor will she be ready by the end of the series. I think she’s certainly had cute interactions with some characters. Before season 3, I really liked Scorptra. Scorpia struck me as the kind of person Catra needed. Someone who genuinely respected her for who she was and treated her well. But, Catra didn’t appreciate it in the same way. I think Catra needs to go through a lot of personal growth before she’ll ever truly be able to fit into any kind of relationship. But when she does.... Perfuma x Catra rights. That would be cute as hell.
3.) My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character:
I dunno if I feel super strong in the idea that these two had a ‘friendship’? But Double Trouble was someone Catra really needed in her life. She needed that absolute roasting wake up call. And DT was not afraid to dish it out. Considering their easily swayed loyalty, it’s hard to say if DT ever really considered Catra a friend (I think they did in their own way) but I’m certainly glad they met and ended the way they did.
4.) My unpopular opinion about this character:
I have a lot of unpopular opinions about Catra. And I’m pretty sure my above points have made most of them clear, so I’ll just fill this one in with I don’t ship Catradora. I believe firmly that Catra and Adora loved each other at one point, as much as they could in an environment like the Horde. But I also believe their relationship has changed so drastically, been broken so many times, that it could never go back to the way it was.
And it shouldn’t.
That’s now how relationships work. This story about Princesses has proven to be anything but a classic fairytale. I’m sure Catra and Adora will have a reunion, and they’ll both want to at least know each other again. But a romantic relationship feels so far-fetched to me at this point, when you add up how many times they’ve just been literally trying to kill each other. I don’t find that romantic or cute. The enemies to lovers trope has always been a looser way of describing characters as ‘rivals’, not necessarily two people genuinely out for the others lives.
Anyway.
5.) One thing I wish would happen in canon:
Okay so, my ideal ending for Catra as the series wraps up next month. I want her to work together with Glimmer to escape Horde Prime. I’m sure the two will talk and realize their mistakes through one another. I think Catra should willingly join the Rebellion’s fight against Horde Prime. After it all ends, I’d like her to apologize to Adora, certainly. But it would also be really fucking cool, and a great moment of growth for Catra if she could see what Adora has built, the family she’s made outside of the Horde, perhaps the love she’s found, and be genuinely happy for her. And to tell her that she is happy for her. I think it would be super fucking healthy and a great arc for Catra is she was able to let go of Adora, in the sense that her obsession for her attention/the need to be better then her goes away. If she could truly see Adora as a friend that has found happiness outside of her and be content with that, I would BAWL.
I think she should go back to the Crimson Waste on her own and try to find herself and carve out who she wants to be. Huntara is there, and I can actually see her being a really good role model for Catra. They both have the same attitude, but Huntara has a sense of duty and honor that she could easily imprint on Catra. Plus, they’re both Horde. They’d swap stories. Huntara would be the kind of mentor who would easily tell Catra she’s proud of her, and I think she needs that.
So yeah, ultimately, Catra taking time to just find and love herself would be my ideal ending. I think she’d discover she was right all along, she’s never ‘needed’ anybody else, per say. She can be strong and independent in herself, but having people who care about her is a definite plus and she can depend on them too.
6.) Favorite friendship for this character:
If and when Catra is able to grow and say she comes back to visit the princesses, I’d love to see her and Mermista interact. I think they’d be snarky buds and that would be super cool. I also loved Noelle’s concept of her and Netossa. Same vibe.
7.) My favorite crossover ship:
N/A, sorry Catra.
Those are my thoughts! Lemme know what you agreed/disagreed with! We’ll see her how arc ends up soon...

Alright I'm going to say something a little controversial for the she Ra fandom, but I kind of think it needs to be said before season 5 drops.
The most annoying thing that I've continued to hear in this fandom is about two ships scorpia and Catra, and Catra and adora. It safe to say that the people who ship catradora wear that badge very proudly and that's okay also it's probably gonna become cannon. I'm however not here to complain about the ship. Scorptra fans are cool they're just not a loud as other ships in the fandom. Overall the she Ra community is pretty chill and that's great after the disaster that was Voltron.
So to get to the point my complain is about the reactions to these ships, sort of. Like how they're seen I guess. People are perfectly fine with adora and Catra being together no complaints no questions. However when it comes to scorpia and Catra people are like no they can't be together if Catra doenst do better or be better. They shouldn't be together if Catra is the way she is. And it's really annoying because it's like double standards like it's okay for Catra to be mean and vindictive with adora because power or love or whatever, but before Catra can be with scorpia she needs therapy.
Just felt the need to point that out, I'm not trying to start a fight so don't come at me catradora shippers. I don't ship either of these really.

Okay, I keep seeing stuff about what it'll be like when Adora and Catra reunite, or when Adora and Glimmer reunite, but what about when Catra sees Scorpia again, now a full-blown princess?
l i t e r a l l y there are some days where i’m more excited about about scorptra than i am about anything else. just bc of the fact that scorpia deserves a FUCKING apology and i want both of them to get some closure, bc for a while like.... they were each other’s most important person you know??? scorpia got catra through some SHIT and honestly helped her believe in love again and just 😭 i’m 😭😭 THEY 😭😭😭😭😭😭
i think the princess thing is going to hit catra REALLY hard but in the end she’ll be happy that scorpia found happiness and will let her go graciously.. and weve all been sort of wary about how catra will deal with seeing scorpia using the same powers that sw used to abuse her but i think maybe it could be kind of healing for her bc the power’s being used by someone good and kind who catra can trust to never hurt her... does that make sense to anyone else? haha

Canon Catradora
So it’s almost here. The end of SPOP. I think we’re all a pretty even mix of excited and terrified to see how this all wraps up, but one of the biggest debates I’ve seen going on is concerning what will happen if Catradora doesn’t become canon. More specifically, there’s been debate over whether or not we fans have a right to be angry if it’s not made canon. To give my own short answer, I personally think that we do. Sort of. Maybe not necessarily even Catradora specifically, but I think that fans have a right to be angry if there’s not a main character WLW ship made canon by the end of the show. Imma explain under the cut.
Lemme preface with this: I know fans are scared about this turning into a Voltron situation. I get it, trust me. I wasn’t ever involved with the Voltron fandom or even really watched the show, but I know how ugly things got, so I don’t want this fandom to get that ugly either. Which is why I think that it’s crucial that no hate should be directed at Noelle or the writers if Catradora or some other major WLW ship isn’t made canon. At this point, I think they’ve proven that they genuinely do care about their queer viewers. If for some reason we don’t get canon Catradora/etc, it will likely be studio execs’ fault, not the showrunners themselves.
Here’s why I think we have a right to be mad. At this point, it’s been teased heavily throughout the show. Whether or not you ship Catradora, you have to admit that they have a LOT of romantically-coded scenes between them. Their romantic tension is used as a selling point for the show, as evidenced by all the “Hey, Adora~” fanservice in season promos. Even beyond Catradora, there are many obvious WLW-coded scenes in the main cast. Scorpia has very obvious romantic feelings for Catra which she basically outright confesses multiple times, and Glimmer and Adora also have a lot of scenes which can be read as romantically coded.
Beyond the show’s content itself, tweets from Noelle + the writers have often made comments/etc outright confirming that Adora is a WLW (Noelle saying she had a crush on Huntara, etc). Noelle has also retweeted a lot of Catradora art and liked tweets before that talk about fans needing to be patient and have faith in a Catradora canon.
The vast majority of people who watch this show accept that Adora, Catra, and Scorpia are WLW, and most others believe Glimmer is as well. At this point, because of the canon interactions as well as the writers’ interactions on Twitter, I feel like not having a major canon WLW couple in season 5 would be queerbaiting.
Personally, I ship Catradora, and the amount of times that it’s been teased to fans honestly makes me feel like it would be baiting if they didn’t become canon. But I would also love to see Glimmadora, Scorptra, Glitra, or basically any other main character-centered WLW ship become canon, and I think any of those outcomes could (if written well) be perfectly satisfying.
Simply put, I think the best outcome is that Adora ends up in a canon romantic relationship with another woman, preferably another main character. It will be the biggest love letter to the queer viewers of this show to finally, finally have a lead character of a show targeted towards kids be in an on-screen WLW relationship. The only comparable thing that I’m aware of would be Korrasami, and the rep there is notably less than stellar (again, mostly through the fault of studio execs).
I personally will be mad if at least one of the main characters isn’t in a canon WLW relationship. I’ll also be pretty disappointed if they try to rush or minimize it. I’ve already seen lots of people saying we shouldn’t be angry or disappointed, but I just don’t agree. Queer fans have a right to be mad about queerbaiting, especially when it’s used so heavily as a selling point for the show.
That being said, I honestly do have faith in Noelle + the team. I really do think they care about us, and I think they’ll do their best. I truly don’t want to see hate directed at them should a major WLW ship not become canon, even if some degree of anger is justified. I’m so excited for tomorrow, and I can’t wait to experience the end of an amazing era with y’all :)

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Season 4, Episode 1, First Impressions!
New season has FINALLY ARRIVED, which means I finally get it in front of my eyeballs! So, it’s first impressions time!
...however, since I’m watching it right after it dropped instead of being kind of late to the party like I was with the previous three, I’m gonna play it safe and seal off my thoughts under the spoiler cut. So yeah.
Anyway!
So the first part of my prediction was pretty much correct, in that it’s about Glimmer’s coronation, and she’s still really shaken up over Angella’s death (and why wouldn’t she be?) and Adora and Bow are trying to be supportive but it’s super stressful, though it did play out a bit differently. Turns out, rather than be nervous about whether or not she could fill her mother’s shoes and that everyone is looking down on her and judging her like I thought, she’s instead mega-pissed about how no one is even addressing the big THE QUEEN, WHO OH YEAH WAS MY MOM, IS SUPER DEAD! and is instead all going on and on about party arrangements and ceremonies and rituals and stupid stuff that doesn’t matter because her mom is dead and no one is even talking about it!
Bow and Adora certainly had the best of intentions, and I like how neither the show nor Glimmer made them out to be the bad guys in this despite them kind of making things worse. Glimmer’s hurting, but just not in the way they were thinking. Fortunately, in the end she got what she needed in hearing Angella’s final message to her, giving her some measure of closure and letting her accept her new position as Queen of Brightmoon and the leader of the Princess Rebellion, which is pretty much what she needed all along.
That having been said, I did kind of feel like her pain over losing her mom was resolved kind of...too neatly, I guess? I get that it’s a new season and they need to move the plot along, but even so. Still, just because she’s gotten some closure doesn’t mean that the wound is totally healed (because it never will be) and that this won’t come up again, so I’ll be keeping a close eye on her.
In other news, the other princesses were as delightful as always in their trying so hard to do things right but completely missing the point. Frosta was...kind of terrifying (poor Sea Hawk!), Mermista’s obsession with her “floral” arrangements were a hoot, and poor Perfuma really needs to get back to her hippie roots and get some meditation in while smoking some kush, because I feel that her patience for her fellow princesses is very close to running out and she’s just going to go all Poison Ivy on everyone. And jeez, someone rein Castespella in!
Though on a side note, I feel kind of bad for this, but Swift Wind continues to irk me. Yeah, I know he’s supposed to be a comic relief character, but at least the other characters were trying to do right by Glimmer in their weird, kind of egotistical ways, but he was making his thing all about him and...look, I’m sorry, but I just don’t like Swift Wind, okay?!
Also, give Netossa and Spinnerella something to do, already!
Ahem.
So, back to the bad guys’ side, that’s where things take a...fully predicted and interesting turn.
So, let’s talk about Catra.
Catra continues to be the most fascinating character in the entire show. On the one hand, she is very much an abuse victim, someone who was mistreated her entire life, who was forced to live in the shadow of her best friend, who was clearly starved for any kind of positive reinforcement but was constantly denied it, who was constantly told that she wasn’t good enough, that she was inadequate, that she was a failure, etc. It’s a terrible situation for anyone to be in, which is why her sympathetic moments play out so well.
But however, despite how she’s been treated by her so-called betters, Catra’s kind of the most competent character in the whole show. Every time she has the freedom to do things her way, she quite often comes out on top, and unless her deeply-seated issues get the better of her or some other happenstance that she couldn’t account for occurs, she tends to win. She is a master of psychological warfare and a terrific and cunning fighter, able to adapt to quickly changing situations and new environments scarily fast and get the drop on her opponents. Hell, she’s gone toe-to-toe with She-Ra and managed to hold her own just through her wits.
And that has led her to having a rocketship strapped to her back, sending her soaring upward.
Through sort of a fluke, she was made Force Captain in Adora’s place and kicked ass. She out-thought Shadow Weaver and deposed of her, taking her power and her job. She made herself out to be the biggest threat the Rebellion has ever seen (I can’t remember the figures, but Entrapta once said that under her leadership, the Horde saw a massive leap in efficiency). When she was exiled to the Crimson Waste pretty much to die, she took it over in a day, captured Mara’s ship, took Adora’s sword, and brought it back to Hordak when he had pretty much written her off.
Point is, when she has her eye on the prize, Catra is almost unstoppable. And here we are shown what that prize is. She wants the Rebellion crushed and Etheria ready to offer up on a silver platter when Horde Prime finally arrives, as expected, though I truly doubt that has much to do with actually believing in the Horde’s right to rule and has more to do with it being because the Rebellion is where Adora and Shadow Weaver are. But regardless, it’s always been made very clear that she is in it for herself, and not out of any kind of loyalty to Hordak. I mean, after he treated her last season, why would it be? And now she has had it up to here with his constant moping despite having a distinct advantage that he’s not pressing.
So she decides to do something about it. Namely, she does to him what she did to Shadow Weaver: exploit her knowledge of his weaknesses and make him her bitch.
Damn. I mean, we all saw it coming, but damn.
Catra’s...running the Horde now. I mean, Hordak’s probably still going to be the front, but she’s going to be the real power from now on, and that is really bad news for the good guys. And I have no doubt that that’s where Double Trouble comes in.
But anyway, as sympathetic as Catra’s story is, and as impressive as her actions have been, that doesn’t take away from the fact that she’s kind of become a really terrible person. Which is totally deliberate and the writing is great, don’t get me wrong! But she’s replaced both Shadow Weaver and Hordak, and like them, she has her own victim of her abusive behavior.
Scorpia.
That scene honestly broke my heart, even if I saw it coming. Scorpia honestly is pretty much my favorite character. I love how she’s this big, powerful, intimidating person with a totally sweet, caring, awkward, and kind of ditzy personality. Her crush on Catra was pretty obvious from the get-go, and I loved their dynamic...for the first couple of seasons anyway. But as much as I got into the Scorptra train, it’s clear that it’s not going to work out, given how toxic Catra’s become, and Scorpia knows it, and it’s tearing her up. I am very interested in how her arc is going to turn out this season. I mean, she’s got an entire solo episode coming up, which I am very much looking forward to. But I hope that this is the catalyst that causes her to finally stand up to Catra and break away from the Horde. At the very least she doesn’t buy what Catra did to Entrapta one bit, and I love that she’s still looking after Emily. Maybe she and Hordak can team up and go to Beast Island to rescue our favorite autistic gadgeteer princess.
But getting back to Catra, if the last season was seeing her at her lowest point, then this one will be seeing her at her highest, but on the side of evil. I predict that she’s finally going to get everything she’s convinced herself that she wants only to lose it all at the end, leading to her final arc in the final season. Now, will that be a true redemption arc like everyone is hoping for? Will Hordak redeem himself as well?
Well...probably not.
See, I am totally on board with the two of them finally confronting the years of abuse that made them the way they were, breaking away from it, and actually becoming better people, but redemption does kind of mean making up for all the pain and damage that you’ve caused, and I’m afraid that they’re in waaaaaaaaaay too much debt to do that.
However, they are perfectly capable of having a reformation arc. Because just because you can’t make up for what you’ve done doesn’t mean you can’t better yourself going forward.
Not Shadow Weaver though. Don’t think I didn’t notice you lurking around in that one scene. Honored guest my ass. She’s totally up to something.

Ok, so 2 questions. 1, do you think that since Catra has reached the lowest point she can go, she's gonna realize in Season 4 what she's become and that gets the ball rolling on her redemption? And 2, how do you feel about Scorptra (Scorpia and Catra) now that they're bonded a lot and have so much potential as a good ship?

To your first question...sort of. This is definitely her lowest low, but I think she'll probably be in denial for a little while about what she really tried to do, but I do think her redemption is coming, and maybe by the tail end of next season it could really get going.
Or I could be completely wrong but HEY.
And to answer your second question, I'm not sure how I feel honestly. Also I'm a big Catradora fan so they are the ship I would love to see come to fruition in the future, but of course I can look at the Scorptra ship and say they've had a lot of good moments too.
I think that after this season, Scorpia was obviously very hurt by Catra when she was spiralling and although yeah, they had bonded a lot, after what Catra did I definitely can't see Scorpia immediately running back to Catra like nothing happened.
Of course their relationship is salvageable, but I think that after this season Catra will possibly isolate herself even more, and this time, Scorpia will actually distance herself.

My She-Ra Ships
So, I know that there are charts made for the new She-Ra cartoon that people use to show where they stand on different pairings involving a good chunk of the characters. I’ve wanted to do one, but I can’t figure out a good way to do the visual version without it looking messy at best. So, I figured I’d just do something like this - basically the same thing, but as a list rather than a chart. I don’t really have any NOTPS, so basically the tiers are going to be OTP, Love, and Like. Pretty much anything not listed would be considered in a sort of tier that I’d just call “Respect”, meaning I don’t personally ship it, but can potentially see why others do, or at the absolute least, I will respect the opinions of the people who ship those characters together, because I have literally no right to tell people what they should and shouldn’t ship.
Now, this isn’t going to really go into why I put these pairings into their respective categories, it’s just going to be categorizing them. If anyone would like to see me give explanations/talk about why I put certain ships in certain categories, I will be happy to do so...eventually. Yeah, sorry, I literally cannot give a more precise timeframe than that for when answers would be given.
So, with that preamble out of the way, I suppose it’s time to start the actual post, beginning with my OTPs, and working down to the ships I just like alright.
OTPs
Glow/Glimbow
Seamista
Pertrapta
Catradora
Love
Spinnetossa
Merfuma
Angella x Micah
Scorptra
Bowfuma*
Glimadorawbow**
Like
Glimadora
Bowtrapta
Sconnie
Repkyle
Adorista
Perfumadora
The Poly Alliance (basically just a poly ship of all the young adults in the Princess Alliance)
*Admittedly, I see it more as a onesided thing on Perfuma’s part, but from that perspective, I think it’s adorable. As an actual ship, with the feelings being mutually romantic, it would probably be in the “Like” category, or maybe even just “Respect”
**Probably my OT3 of the whole lot, but I prefer Glow/Glimbow and Catradora overall, hence why this gets a Love and not in the OTP section.
