Hulk Headcanon

Part of the reason my Hulk hides snacks is so Bruce has to find them when he's cleaning. It forces him to remember food.

The other part is Hulk enjoys eating.

Verse: Gryffindor Knights and SHIELD Lee Jordan and Bruce Banner Headcanons

Aka Bruce Banner stole Lee Jordan and refuses to help me.

-If It’s 2019 then Lee is actually 41 because he was born in 1978. So if Bruce was born in 1969 it’s more likely for them to be friends because that’s only a 9 year gap.

-It also means by the time Lee was forced to work as liaison with SHIELD he was already an established journalist/writer within the wizarding world. He’s also Lee Jordan and knows probably former Prime Minister Kingsley Shacklebolt, Some kind of politician Percy Weasley, Aurors Ron Weasley and Harry Potter,two professional Quidditch players Oliver Wood and Ginny Weasley-Potter,and the owner of a successful business and innovator George Weasley. So Lee avoiding jail actually makes sense.

-Also, Lee Jordan is still a stubborn Gryffindor with a nose for trouble so him getting mixed up in SHIELD business? Yeah, it could happen.

-Lee cast once sonorus on Bruce so he could pretend to roar like the Hulk on the first person who came around the corner.It was Melinda May. She was not happy. And now, Lee has to hide from her.

-Lee doesn’t always understand what Bruce is talking about, but he loves it when people are passionate about something. -Lee is also convinced Hulk transformations have to have a magical component to it. -Bruce is interested in what actually makes Transfiguration magic possible, but he doesn’t think it’s the same thing. -Bruce would be able to tell Tony he has wizard friends, too. Similarities:

-Bruce has a background in practical application of theory through experimentation.

-Lee helped the twins with their experiments? But honestly, Lee has always been better at hands-on learning. -They’re both suspicious of government authority. And are generally anti-registering people for things based on past experiences.Lee was anti-muggleborn registration.Bruce hasn’t enjoyed people trying to track him down because he’s “government property.” -Have been on the run and wanted by their respective governments. -They’d rather not fight anyone but will if push comes to shove. -They have to learn to live with their anger and loss. They try to channel it into something better. Lee does it with his words and trying to give voice to the voiceless and reluctantly fighting. Bruce dedicates himself to improving the world and (when he’s not trying to get rid of the Hulk) fighting for the good of the world. -They have a knack for getting in trouble that isn’t entirely their fault. -Bruce has a long history of abuse and traumatic experiences.

- Lee, canonically, had an authority figure force him to scar his own hand with the blood quill, forced to hide and was hunted for Potterwatch, and had to deal with helping move bodies in the aftermath of a battle that resulted in the deaths of multiple people he cared about including one of his best friends all before the age of 20/21.

-My Lee was captured for a week. In canon, we just know Potterwatch wasn’t able to broadcast regularly because of Death Eaters and Snatchers.

-Both of them have a friend with a building that once had their friend’s last name in flashing lights.

MCU Bruce Banner was born in 1969 so he would've been too young for Goncharov, but I think a film with even the implication of someone loving both men and women and it being complicated would resonate with him. Also, comics Joe Fixit was born from mafia movies and took inspiration from them so it's very possible Bruce has seen it.

Bruce's biological parents are dead. (TW: alcoholism, Child abuse, character death, DID, toxic use of religion) || Bruce's dad Brian never wanted him and was convinced his own work with radiation meant his son would be a monster. He was an alcoholic and physically abusive. Bruce's mom tried to escape with Bruce, but Brian killed her. Bruce witnessing this lead to his Dissociative Identity Disorder. Brian threatened Bruce with hell if he told anyone and made him lie in court.Brian slipped up and went to jail anyway.||

Bruce's father made him wary of any kind of strong emotion. Bruce was reserved but had bursts of anger.

Bruce's saving grace was his Aunt Susan Banner. She loved him.

And she's the reason Bruce is kind and compassionate and loving. And without her, Bruce would've been so much worse. And I don't think comics acknowledges her enough.

Bruce's most successful relationships have been with opinionated, loving, women. Betty, Jarella, ~~Caiera~~.

I imagine Aunt Susan was tough because she survived her father and her brother and she was a Banner, too. She was the nice scrapbooking Midwestern Aunt who would shoot at foxes for trying to eat her chickens. In comics, she was divorced and I need to read more but I headcanon she chose Bruce over Mr. Drake. And if any man had a problem with her nephew, she didn't need them anyway. She chose Bruce who would be shy but so angry sometimes.She chose him again and again. She chose everyday.

And choosing to love is why Bruce Banner saved some teen he didn't know. It's why he keeps fighting. It's why he keeps going. Because it's not just about loving other people, it's about loving yourself, too.

I headcanon Bruce thinks of having two mothers in his head. His bio mom who protected him until she couldn't and the mom who saved him.

They forget Aunt Susan when they retell Bruce's story over and over but I won't.

Hulk just wants to be loved.And he always wishes his Dad loved him, but he doesn't wish his mothers loved him. He already knows she and Aunt Susan did.

Headcanon: How Bruce Banner Sleeps

Because I never posted the how does Bruce wake up one:

Bruce sleeps the most after an unplanned, forced, Hulk out. They exhaust him the most.

He can sleep normally after a planned, no unexpected fight, Hulk out. But normally is usually 5 or less hours And not always 5 hours straight. If he has time, he'll try to squeeze in a few more hours.

This is all assuming he hadn't been sucked into an interesting project.

Early mornings used to be reserved for the few hours he and his mother didn't have to worry about Bruce's Father. Then, later, they were simply to have tea with Aunt Susan.

He's quiet in the mornings and tries to get in some light gardening by watering his windowsill plants or if he has a balcony his balcony garden plants.

I've been on board with "Bruce wanted to surpass his father academically out of spite" which is true. But...I also just read Immortal Hulk #0 which is about Brian.

It reprints a couple old Hulk stories and also put them in context with the Immortal Hulk run with some new story.

Bruce says he wanted to succeed and shine so Rebecca would forget Brian. Bruce Banner went overboard with science not just because he loved it, not just to spite his father, but because he loved his mother.

Bruce is a secret romantic, but for him love--in any form-- is bittersweet.

He loved his mother but she was taken. He wanted the love of his father but he was incapable of love. He loved Betty but the gamma bomb stole their chances of a happy ever after.

He loved Jarella, Caiera, and they stayed dead.

He loved his friends but if he can't die and have it stick, then eventually, it will just be Thor. Maybe Jennifer.

He believes he has much to offer the world but he'll always lose time to Hulk. He can start on something but Tony will crack it. And one of the reasons he feels he can't stop is he'll always be remembered for Hulk. He thinks Robert Bruce Banner will always be the asterisk, the sidenote, to his other self. He wants to fill the sidenote. Maybe if it's long enough they'll recognize him. Maybe if he puts enough good into the world it will mean something.

Bruce avoids the gambling ones to prevent Joe Fixit from making an appearance. He avoids the clown automa because they're just creepy.

Bruce and his Other Guys Headcanons: How They Think

Bruce thinks in words. Hulk thinks in images and experiences--this is why sometimes it's hard to get things into words for him.

Shadow thinks in both. Joe thinks in experiences.

All of them have the emotional aspect when they think.

Bruce thinks in words and his emotions feed into the words. It's a spiral of words and emotions and overanalyzing.

Hulk thinks in images and experiences and they're immediate and real. He's the most expressive with his emotions.

Shadow thinks in concepts like right, wrong, justice, family and usually how they connect to him personally. He feels strongly about any emotion but he's most expressive with anger and guarded with anything else.

Hulk reacts and responds and is most present, but he doesn't think very hard ahead or want to dwell on the past unless it's relevant to now. Joe thinks in experiences and feels strongly and is somewhere between Bruce and Hulk with how expressive. He actively pursues things that make him feel good or will benefit him. The past is valuable if it can give him an advantage now.

Headcanon:

Bruce considered multiple career paths when he was very young: astronaut, circus performer, traveling salesman. They were anything that involved getting away from his father. And when he was older what he considered were more practical: Doctors without Borders, Astrophysicist, something where he would help build bridges, nuclear physicist. Here, running away from Bryan was more symbolic. He wanted to help people, not hurt them.
