The post about GitF has briefly revived my Moffat saltiness lol
Every single contribution he made during RTD’s era (aside from Blink) involved introducing a love interest for the Doctor or Rose, I mean come on!
I’m actually surprised he didn’t have Sally reveal she fell in love with the Doctor, but...GitF and the Library episodes are just so out of place 😭right smack in the middle of their respective seasons’ arcs suddenly here’s someone Ten is now apparently in love with and someone he’s going to marry sometime in the future😭 they really do feel more like Eleven episodes
and in s1 with Rose being so...idk how to word it maybe “ditzy” around Jack- like the lines about fainting or getting swept off her feet or how he’s talking to her about a bomb and she’s going “promises promises”
it always rubbed me the wrong way, she didn’t act that way around Adam (if anything he’s the one that fainted lol), Mickey or the Doctor
there was something just so passive about how she was behaving there compared to how fierce she was in ‘The Unquiet Dead’ or “Rose” or “The Long Game”
ok if I don’t stop rambling now I’m going to write an essay haha

I have been told that it’s just because the podcaster Jonathan Sims isn’t good at thinking of names, but it’s both hilarious and very annoying that theres at least 3 characters that have a name that’s some variation of John/Jon/Jonathan/Jonah… just go on babynames.com and look up popular names from the 90s like us all Jon…

My brain went down a rabbit hole ignore this unless you like to overthink inconsequential shit like kids shows.
Anyways I really like how in I Carly the kids all gravitated to Carly’s apartment. And, like, that was for a reason, right? Carly lived with her brother, who has his own issues but basically moves heaven and earth to raise his little sister since her dad isn’t there to do it. Thats some unconventional shit right there.
And Carly doesn’t mention it often but we do see that she’s missing her father, doesn’t have a mother figure, and really looks up to Spencer, who is trying to give her a stable life while also figuring out his own life.
And this man who is raising his sister since their parents aren’t there sees Carly’s friends and basically raises them too.
A girl that comes from a neglectful mother, no father to speak of? Fits right in, she’s welcome any time. There’s food for her, he’ll buy her whatever she needs, there’s always room for her for the night. She even shows up without Carly, she has a key. Sam basically lives there. And Spencer is okay with, if not entirely encouraging, of Sam being around more often than not. Vacation? Sam’s there. Out to eat? Sam’s there. Art event? Sam’s there. Spencer is Sam’s adult in any way he can be without scaring her off.
And a boy who has an extremely controlling, neurotic mother, no father figure either? Right across the hall? He makes nice with the mom, invites Freddy in. Soon enough Freddy’s there all the time. He listens when Freddy complains about not being able to so much as bathe without his mom breathing down his neck. He gives Freddy freedom to roam with the girls when he’s supposed to be in charge of them. He includes Freddy in reckless endeavors, lets him make mistakes, encourages and praises his ideas because this kid’s practically a genius.
He’ll do anything for them. He does ridiculous things on their web show and faces down with people who should intimidate him and tags along as an adult when needed. He even lets them help him, whether it be artistically or an actual problem, because they’re family and he’s a good role model like that. But mainly he just, lets them be kids. Because they deserve to be. Because he had to grow up quickly so that Carly wouldn’t have to.
And that’s not even mentioning Gibby sticking around since clearly that kid’s a bit weird so what better place for him, honestly?
I just love Spencer Shay and no I have not watched the reboot let m have this.

can't stop thinking about how tragic Maine's character is so im going to ramble
one point in particular that's sticking with me is how devastating it was for him to lose his ability to speak. it seems like he was always pretty quiet and introverted, but after his injury, he was more disconnected from the other people in his life than ever.
and if we look a little bit to the right at Locus's arc, where after his dehumanizing experience in the military he was convinced he needed to rid himself of all of his humanity, Maine must have felt something similar. not only was Maine dehumanized just by military experience, but also in his hamper ability to communicate. Maine was literally a soldier without an opinion.
so of course, when presented with Sigma's desire to become human, Maine must have sympathized.
on top of that, Sigma was given to Maine for the express purpose of helping him communicate. Even if Maine didn't fully agree with Sigma, it would have been hard, if not impossible, for Maine to tell anyone if the AI was driving him crazy. Maine was able to seek help for headaches, but who told the medical staff he was experiencing them? Sigma. Sigma was like a buffer between Maine and the people around him even more than his throat injury was.
and speaking on his being a soldier without an opinion, his opinions were never really respected even when he could talk. when he expressed the building was too high and he didn't want to jump, his own friend still pushed him out the window.
and for my final point i will leave you with this: at least Carolina was able to scream when she was implanted with 2 AI.

I keep seeing this negative talking point that Helluva Boss is losing popularity, each episode getting fewer and fewer views. So I thought I’d go look. Youtube videos, of course, get an initial burst of views and then a long tail of continuing views as more people discover and rewatch over time.
Dates are approximate ones from Youtube, I didn’t feel like spending even more time calculating exact ones from wikipedia but someone could.
Pilot: 55M views, 3 years Murder Family: 55M views, 2 years Loo Loo Land: 45M views, 2 years Spring Broken: 45M views, 2 years CHERUBS,  34M views, 2 years Harvest Moon Festival: 33M views, 2 years Truth Seekers: 35M views, 1 year Ozzie’s:  25M views, 1 year The Circus: 22M views, 9 months Seeing Stars:  17M views, 7 months Exes and Oohs 15M views, 2 months Western Energy: 7.4M, five days “Western Energy” has gotten almost half as many views in *five days* as “Exes and Oohs” did in two months.  “Exes and Oohs”, in turn, has almost as many views in two months as “Seeing Stars” got in seven. And so forth.
The only way I can read these numbers as being bad news is if people only watch videos when they’re first released and there is no significant “long tail”. I don’t think that can be true, is it?  Will look back later.
I also found an interesting analytics site called Socialblade.  Vivziepop has a B+ ranking with them and some very healthy looking graphs.  I looked to see how well they stack up to similar channels, too.
And Socialblade’s five year projections?
Tumblr media
I really don’t think there’s any reason to worry.  Hey, if you’re a hater, you can look forward to picking on the studio for years to come!
