Rayaari pregnancy headcanons for the soul:
Namaari was the one to bring up the idea of kids a couple years after they got married
She’s always known she wanted a kid or two
Raya was pretty apprehensive to the idea at first, mainly because she lacked a mother figure growing up and was worried she’d be a bad mom because of it
(Boun and Noi softened her up to the idea because she loves them more than she likes to admit)
After much reassurance, Raya was on board on the condition that they would only have one
Namaari was more than okay with that
So they started looking into adoption for obvious reasons but they’re a little sad they can’t have a child together that’s 100% theirs
Raya mentioned it to Sisu one day so then Sisu was like “oh don’t even stress we have magic for this very reason! We’ve helped plenty of same sex couples have bio kids before the Druun”
Raya brought it up to Namaari and she was all for it
They ultimately decided Raya would carry the pregnancy. A big reason is because of how much of a workaholic Namaari is
When Raya actually becomes pregnant Namaari is SO supportive but she is also SO protective. Like Raya simply does not leave Namaari’s sight
Raya winced one time because the baby kicked and Namaari sprinted her down to the emergency room
“MOVE BINTURIS MY WIFE IS IN PAIN” “can you maybe chill babe-“
Namaari is a worried wife
Raya also experienced INTENSE mood swings
She will go from laughing to crying to murderous to apologetic in the span of three minutes
Namaari is very good at soothing her
“Maari? I’m sorry for, ahem, threatening to shove you off a five story building” “Oh don’t worry about it, it’s like we were teens again. I enjoyed it very much”
Namaari telling Raya how beautiful she is 24/7
“Why are you staring at me, you freak?” “Because you’re the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen” “I’m the size of a planet” “I know what I said”
Raya gets very irritated when she can’t do things she typically would. Not being able to train slowly drives her insane
“I WANNA PUNCH SOMETHING! I WANNA SWING MY SWORDS” “Raya you are in your third trimester DONT SWING SWORDS”
The serlots become Raya’s bodyguards. She is the queen of the kitties
Tuk Tuk gets annoyed that other animals follow Raya around like cmon he was there first
During the actual birth Raya cusses Namaari out so hard
“I SWEAR TO GOD IF THIS BABY INHERITED YOUR BIG ASS HEAD I AM RUNNING AWAY TO JOIN THE CIRCUS” “Okay, that’s fair, I completely understand”
(Benja had a really hard time in the delivery room because it reminded him too much of when his wife was in labour but he stuck through it)
It was long and difficult, but they both ended up being okay
Everyone in the room was crying
Namaari was probably crying more than anyone tbh
“I just- I’m- I can’t” “There there, dep la. There there”
Raya held her first and then she started crying more too
“I was so worried that she was going be born with like 18 fingers and 23 toes. She’s actually really cute for a baby that was just born” “We do have superior genes”
They’re a happy family that love each other very much!

Namaari is lost in thought and doesn’t hear a familiar voice call out to her.
“Namaari?”
She turns her head and it’s raya.
“Oh hey.” She says as she gives her a half smile.
“Jade for your thoughts?” Raya asks as she leans over the balcony.
Namaari let out a breathy laugh.
“I just needed some time away from everyone.” Namaari says as she rubs her palms together.
Raya takes a moment to respond gathering her thoughts before she speaks.
“I get it socializing can be hard sometimes and it’s overwhelming especially being alone for the past six years.” Raya says as she looks over at Namaari.
Namaari visibly winces at that and raya notices.
“I didn’t mean it that way.” Raya says quickly biting her lip absentmindedly.
She says almost a little to quickly for her liking.
“I know i did a lot of fucked up things, and i know it’ll take some time to be forgiven but i want to start over and be friends this time so i have something i want to give you.” Namaari explains as she pulls out a gold hair loom.
Raya takes a moment as she sees namaari’s out stretched hand in front of her.
Namaari notices her facial expressions trying to process everything so she waits.
Raya visibly laughs actually laughs.
Namaari blushes at that.
“You kept my hair loom?” Raya says with a soft smile as she pulls out something gold from her pocket.
“And you kept my dragon pendant?” Namaari questions as she looks at raya’s hand.
A smile appears on her face as she looks at raya.
Shit she’s cute.
“I’d like to start over to, it’ll take some time but we can do it together.” Raya explains as she gives namaari her dragon pendant and namaari attempts to give raya back her hair loom.
“Keep it.” Raya says.
Namaari has a shocked expression on her face as she looks at raya thinking on her next words.
“Guess i’ll be holding onto this then?” Namaari says as she gives raya a sheepish smile placing the dragon pendant in her pocket.
Curiosity gets the best of raya and she can’t help but blurt out before thinking.
“Why’d you keep it?” Raya questions as she looks down from the balcony at everyone laughing and having a good time.
Namaari thinks for moment before answering becoming suddenly nervous.
“I could ask you the same thing.” Namaari says as she has a cocky tone in her voice.
“I asked you first.” Raya says as she notices namaari’s cocky demeanor.
Damn she’s good.
“I honestly don’t know.” Namaari says fidgeting with the hair loom.
That was a complete lie she wants to tell her why she kept it but is visibly struggling to do so and raya notices this.
“Is it because you wanted something to remind you of me?” Raya says as she gives off that knowing smirk the one namaari knows when raya is being challenging.
Namaari blushes hard at that and she thanks the dark because she’s lucky raya can’t see how red her face is right now.
“I could ask you the same thing about the dragon pendant.” Namaari says giving raya a smirk.
Now it’s raya’s turn to blush.
“I kept it because I wanted hope.” Raya simply says as she chews the inside of her cheek.
Suddenly feeling the shift of the atmosphere change.
Namaari thinks for a moment on what to say.
“I never wanted any of this to happen i genuinely wanted kumandra but i let my selfish needs get the best of me and i fucked everything up and for that i am deeply sorry raya.” Namaari says as her voice slightly cracks.
She can tell namaari is being genuine but she struggles on what to tell her before she can speak namaari interrupts her train of thought.
“I don’t expect forgiveness or to be trusted right away, but i’m willing to try again with you if you’ll let me.” Namaari says as she gives raya a genuine smile.
One raya wishes to see more often.
Wait what…
What is her brain thinking right now-
“I know, i’m willing to try again with you to.” Raya says as she gently places her hand on top of namaari’s.
Ignoring her thoughts from moments ago.
They stay like that for a moment when raya realizes how close they are in proximity.
They both don’t dare make eye contact with the other until namaari is the first to speak.
Without thinking she takes raya’s hand in her own.
“Raya.” Namaari says softly as she looks at raya.
Raya turns to look at namaari but her brain is all over the place her heart is beating so quickly right now all she can think about is the fact that namaari is holding her hand.
It’s soft but yet firm.
She thinks of all the ways namaari’s hands exploring her body how it would feel for-
Raya immediately stops those thoughts as she doesn’t think before she speaks.
“Yes?” Raya says as her voice cracks noticing this she chews the inside of her lip.
Namaari notices her anxiousness and tries her best to comfort her by rubbing her hand.
“I’m happy we’re getting a fresh start.” Namaari says giving raya a soft smile.
They stay like that for a moment not noticing how close they’re getting.
“There you guys are everyone has been looking for you guys.” A familiar voice says.
They immediately pull apart cheeks flushed.
“Sisu.” They both say as they form the respectful gesture towards her.
“You guys don’t have to do that.” She says lightly pushing them towards her with her tail.
“So what’s my favorite gal pals doing up here?” Sisu says giving raya a knowing smirk.
Raya visibly rolls her eyes at that as she crosses her arms.
“We were just talking.” Raya says simply looking over at namaari.
“Are you guys coming back to the party?” Sisu questions as she looks between the both of them.
They think for a moment and decide that will after feeling better after their much needed talk.

A behind the scenes blooper, with some on set chemistry. Staring yours truly, Rayaari.
Namaari, holding Raya by the collar, pinned to a wall, and intensely glaring right into Raya’s eyes: "Surrender the gem pieces Binturi. Or else-"
Raya, slyly (and very cleverly going off script): “Or else what? You'll slaughter me? End me? Make me an eternal prisoner? Something tells me you think I'm worth that prize. Aren’t I depla?”
Namaari, inching closer to threaten, and drops the growl going all red in the face: “Damn it Raya!” *lets go of Raya as she winces trying to deal with her “sudden rush of emotion”*
Director: “CUT!” *is completely ignored by both* “HEY ARE YOU GUYS EVEN LISTENING TO ME?”
Raya, smug and seductive, inching closer to Namaari’s face: “You’re blushing, you fell for it, again.”
Namaari, muttering under her breath: “You really really enjoy making me suffer just because I love you.”
Raya: “Sorry what was that?” *whispering into Namaari’s ear (in a breathy voice if I might add)* “Almost sounded like a confession...”
Director, with a literal mike this time: “THAT’S THE FIFTH DAMN TIME RAYA! NAMAARI YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO THREATEN HER! FROM THE TOP!”
They pull shenanigans on set mi amor.

Power bottom Raya ańd service top Namaari 😈
Tumblr media
Rated M, ahhhh also written on my phone so here’s hoping it’s edited correctly 😂 and the read more actually works.
:readmore: -IDKSHQSJ I HATE THIS WEBSITE
It was rare that Namaari consumed liquor. Yes, every guard partook in it every now and then, but not Namaari. She had far too much at risk to allow herself to enjoy it as often as her fellow guards did, taking her role with a professionalism that most of them scoffed at. Typical, her closest friends knowing this of her and, although they did try, often let her be about it. Knowing that wasn’t her style, nor did she bend for them for such cheap thrills that offered greater consequences.
Still- that didn’t mean she never drank.
She had gone out for drinks with Atitaya and the other guards the night she first met Raya, in fact. A key point that Namaari forget at times, needing a reminder now and then that their business was a tavern. A place for eating and sleeping, but mostly a place for where lonely souls sought to gather for a good time. Passing around mugs filled with the amber liquid that’d knock them out cold in a few hours. Often times packed to the brim with patrons. Though, if the traveling season was lacking, the tavern would be as it was tonight where barely any entered in through the door.
Business was slow and Raya’s Ba was clearly exhausted with the week’s work, shutting down the tavern early. Raya waving him off to bed so she could clean and close the bar properly, Namaari helping with the dishes and wiping down tables. Their conversation light, tired as well, until Raya brought forth one of the bottles from under the counter. Halfway empty, popping the tab back before shaking it in the air.
“Want a drink?” She offered.
Namaari, wash towel in hand, shook her head as she was cleaning the furniture.
“Won’t your father mind?” She asked, humored as Raya rolled her eyes at her.
“Hardly, it’s about to go bad anyways-“
Namaari narrowed her eyes, letting those words sink into her mind.
“Go bad….but isn’t it like wine-?” She questioned, “doesn’t it just taste better the older it is?”
Raya laughed, at her words or at Namaari, she was unsure, as Raya tipped the bottle back and took a generous sip.
“You don’t need to worry about the finer details my love,-“ she said, ignoring her question with a wave of her hand, “not much is left anyways.”
Namaari deposited the rag in the sink, coming around to stand at Raya’s side as she took another long sip. Her eyes full of mischief, lips curling into a smile, tipping the bottle in her direction for her to take.
“You really don’t have to, but I’ll finish it all on my own with or without you.” She stated, her voice teasing as she oh-so-innocently tilted her head to the side.
Namaari was weak. She melted for her smile and, unable to accept that Raya wanted to finish the bottle all on her own, she’d gladly accept the proposal to drink with her.
Still-…she wanted to have some fun with her first.
Namaari took the bottle from her, waiting till she saw Raya’s eyes light up before tipping it towards the sink. Enjoying how her eyes went wide with panic and tried to snatch it back, Namaari holding it back just out of reach.
“Namaari-!” Raya whined.
Namaari chuckled and brought the bottle to her lips, hovering there as she spoke
“I’m teasing you, love.” Namaari laughed, her mouth curling much like Raya’s did, “giving you a taste of your own medicine-“
She knocked back the bottle, gulping back a large amount that she immediately regretted as it burned the entire way down and made her cough. Her wife going from a pout to a devilish grin, loving how Namaari looked flustered now in her attempt to be cool after that remark.
“That’s what you get-“ she laughed, kissing Namaari lightly on the lips before taking the alcohol back. Showing how she could take a larger hit than her.
Showing off more like it.
Back and forth they passed that bottle, Namaari making it a challenge to show Raya she could take just as big and long of a drink as her, especially without coughing or feeling the sting in her eyes when it burned through her nose. Each and every time it seemed it didn’t matter, Namaari wasn’t used to it and somehow Raya was. Though Namaari swore she had never seen her touch a drop of the liquid to her lips before.
“You just can’t accept it..” she teased, the two of them sitting now up in their bedroom now that everything had been closed up. Passing the bottle back and forth, drinking the last of its content now. Raya’s cheeks red, buzzed, but Namaari far more so as she felt like the world was teetering around her. Her words forming, but coming out sloppy. Chopped up with no real enunciation to it.
“Accept what?” She asked, though what she said was definitely not that. It was more of a “huh?”
Raya laughed, “Accept that I can drink you under the table!”
Namaari responded-…something? But Raya cut her off. Her eyes sympathetic, clearly seeing Namaari had enough.
“Okay, dep la- no more for you.” She insisted and when Namaari went to complain, she knocked the bottle all the way back and swallowed what was left. Placing the empty glass on the floor. “I fear I’ve gone a bit too far this time with our bantering...” she teased, pulling Namaari down into bed with her soothingly, “I’ve gone and made you drunk.”
Namaari came, reluctantly, but she did not come quietly. Trying to speak out and complain, Raya hushing her as she held her close and rubbed a thumb across her face affectionately.
“You should sleep now, dep la.” She insisted, “you’re going to have a killer headache tomorrow.”
But the longer Namaari laid there with her, the more she didn’t want to sleep. In fact- it seemed the longer she laid there the more she seemed to do a lot more than sleep. She wanted to do a lot more to Raya, who was looking far too good and feeling far too amazing to just stay there like this and do nothing about it. From resting on the swell of her breast, to feeling the curve of her body, it was clear Namaari wouldn’t be able to just sleep tonight.
Namaari was hazy, she was delightfully inebriated, and now she wanted Raya. Her body had hardly relaxed long into her wife’s embrace before she pushed up onto her hands, hovering over her as she bent down and captured her lips in a searing kiss.
Raya squeaked in surprise yet melted easily into it. Mouth parting as their tongues met, sloppy and wet, hints of the alcohol in her kiss that had Namaari’s head spinning all the more. Especially when Raya’s hands roamed, along her body and through her hair. Scraping her scalp as Namaari settled down on top of her. Legs spreading, welcoming her hips in.
“Huh-…someone’s excited.” She husked when Namaari barely drew back for either of them to breath, devouring her lips again once she had spoken. Raya not at all seeming to mind her eagerness:
Namaari’s body was pleasantly warm, her body feeling like it was light and airy and floating above Raya more than it was rocking into her. Her heightened lust for her felt sudden yet immeasurable, seemingly impossible not to react on when she was looking so beautiful like this. Namaari’s hips digging hard down into her, efforts doubled when Raya’s head bent back and released a loud moan into the air.
“Gods-…Namaari-“ she seethed, bucking up into her, “keep going-“
Namaari grunted in response, grounding deep into her core, the effect immediate as Raya’s voice lifted again. Her sound spurring her on, Namaari wanting to pleasure her in every way possible.
“Tell me what to do-“ Namaari said, or at least hoped she said, her mouth pressed against her lover’s ear as she writhed into her hard. Licking it, from pulse to the tip of her ear before biting down.
Namaari must have said something akin to it, for Raya immediately pressed a hand down against her shoulder. Pushing her down the length of her body, eagerly, both knowing without a single word between them what she wanted.
Still, Raya hissed out, “lick me-…eat me for all your worth..”
So Namaari got right to it.
Raya removed her top while Namaari swiftly tore her bottoms from her, undergarments and even doing away with her own clothes before she brought Raya closer by her legs, settling inside her with an eagerness that had her wife’s knees trembling with need. Namaari’s tongue lapped against her waters, long and firm, holding her hips down with her strong hands while Raya mewled in response to her cunt being tongued like candy.
God- It tasted like candy, sweet and sopping, Namaari sucking her clit into her mouth where she circled it with a pointed tongue before diving lower and inside her. Bobbing her head, penetrating her with the appendage again and again. Somehow even more drunk off her taste and the cries of pleasure that came out wildly from Raya’s lips.
“Ah! Yes!“ she moaned, bucking hard up into her mouth, “Maari-..yes!”
Namaari’s mouth quickly became shiny with her cum, her wife’s hands digging down through her hair as she held her close to where she needed her. Nails digging so sharp, her toes curling as her feet pressed hard into the bed. Seemingly about to cum, Namaari trying to help her reach it only for Raya to jerk her head back suddenly to get her attention.
What a sight it was too.
Raya, flushed and red all over, absolutely soaked and her body heaving with lust. Eyes lidded and her lip trapped between her teeth. Heavy and hot, only for Namaari, as their eyes connected.
“I want you to claim me..” she grunted, “go get it..”
Namaari wasn’t even sure she could stand up, yet she crawled to the edge of the bed and somehow managed to find the dresser. Finding their toy, preparing it as she worked on the straps, and climbing back onto their bed.
Namaari’s eyes wild like an animal as she saw Raya sprawled out on the bed looking so ready to be fucked. Taking her leg roughly and jerking it until she was on her belly. Ass raised, Namaari taking her own fingers first into her cunt where she teased two fingers inside, seeing she was wet and ready, before taking her cum once again to her lips. Savoring the taste, before she roughly took her wife’s hips and positioned her toy cock against her opening.
Raya huffed loudly, legs shivering impatiently as Namaari teased the head against her entrance. Slow, long strokes, waiting for Raya’s command which came all too quickly.
“Maari- put it inside me-“ she grunted, once again squeaking in surprise when Namaari knocked her legs apart. Making her front half dip low into the bed while she entered her, slowly, pushing up until skin met. Pulling out and then going back in, wet squelching noises filling the room as the toy drove into her wet channel.
“Ah~ yes!” Raya moaned again, “fuck me!”
Namaari felt a wave of pleasure fall down her body until it hit right in her gut, feeling it spike as the leather of the strap rubbed her own clit so well while she followed Raya’s command. Intending on giving her what she wanted as she worked up a good pace for her.
Again, again, again.
Harder and slow, then fast as their skin slapped together with each powerful thrust. Still, Raya wanted more-
“Spank me..” she ordered, Namaari following through with a sharp slap to her cheeks. Digging her nails from her lower back to hips to ass where she once again spanked her until it was warm and red beneath her touch. Raya praising her for her efforts, “yes- Gods yes-…give it to me so hard, Maari-“
Namaari once more grunted in her response. Hands roughly gripped Raya’s hips, using them as leverage to thrust down into her. Pinning her down into the bed, Namaari’s hips lifting up and then rolling back down. Focusing all her strength into pistoning the toy cock into her.
Raya cried out, burying her head into the mattress as she begged for her to continue. Unable to hold back, cumming loudly enough to wake the entire Kingdom it seemed. Namaari holding her position until she felt Raya’s body melt and her head began to lift. Pulling back to see the mess she had made. Her cum dripping down her legs, all over the mattress, her cunt still aching and red.
The sight spurring Namaari on.
Ready for round two.
She gasped when Namaari’s hands grabbed her ass and pushed until her tongue could run along her slit. Wet, wild, sucking her with just as much gusto as before. Raya’s head returning down into the bed as her legs spread, moaning, her words garbled as if they crashed into each other on the way out or her mouth.
Namaari only needed to hear her say “yes!” to know she was doing something exactly right.
Her clit was already sensitive, her body already on fire from the climax Namaari had given her. Yet Namaari was not satisfied with her work, wanting more of Raya’s taste. Eating her out until her wife had decided she was done with only being on the receiving end.
Namaari flopped onto her back, room spinning, her mind catching up moments later when Raya undid the leather belts to their toy. Removing it completely so that she could straddle Namaari. Legs spread, Raya’s cunt hovering above her own as she took one of Namaari’s legs for leverage.
Namaari’s eyes rolled back when Raya gave her a heated look, paired with a single roll of her hips. Their cores meeting, clits rubbing slippery against the other, blending them into one as Raya continued to ground herself into Namaari.
“Fu-ck…” Namaari hissed, matching Raya’s pace. The wet, tingly sensation that was their most sensitive area grinding against one another felt like it was all over her. The hot, messy liquid felt as if it were melting into her skin and driving her senses wild as she continued to buck harder into Raya. Her wife matched this, mouth fallen open as her eyes squeezed tight.
Seeing her give to her with such wild abandon had Namaari’s own climax spilling forth. Raya’s following, a second time, completely draining them both.
Namaari vaguely recalled Raya moving to be in her arms, the two passing out shortly thereafter, when she woke up that next morning with a mild headache. But they were together, the blankets awkwardly thrown on as if neither one could be bothered to completely cover up, and the bottle was still on the floor.
Even though her headache was mild, looking at it made Namaari feel nauseated.
“That’s normal.” Raya breathed into her neck, somehow knowing exactly what she was thinking. “You might not be able to drink that for awhile-“
“Or ever again-…” Namaari groaned, rubbing her sore temple until Raya took over the task for her.
“That’s just fine, my love.” Raya laughed, amused by her, kissing her affectionately against her cheek.
Namaari nearly asked if Raya had a headache, but decided against it, already knowing the answer. Wondering then how in the world she was able to handle her own like that with alcohol. Choosing to save the question for another time as thinking of any kind just seemed to make her headache worsen. For now- she’d reap the benefits of being taken care of by her wife. Getting to spend the majority of her day off in bed, held and loved by the woman or her dreams.

Mrs. Chickadee
(This was 100% inspired by Gilmore Girls. If you watched the show, you know exactly where this came from. Just wanted to make a short and cute Rayaari story! Also super sorry for the delay my tumblr shut me out and I could NOT remember my password so this app and I have beef. Modern au for this one!)
Raya may actually start crying right here, right now.
She checked the cage once, twice, three times, but there was nothing. Zilch. Nada. Not a thing, if you will. Oh god, Raya’s hyperventilating.
Man, why did Sisu have to take the stupid animal science class and have to take care of a stupid little bird for the rest of the semester? Raya’s squinting her eyes and scanning the room to try and find the little ball of fluff to no avail.
Raya had no clue how she was supposed to find this avian escape artist if she can’t even see properly. She accidentally cracked the lenses of her glasses earlier this morning and dropped them off at Costco to get them fixed. Thank god for the many uses of Costco.
But since Raya doesn’t use contact lenses, she has an incredibly difficult time seeing anything over five feet away from her. That being said, since she is taller than five feet, looking down is an issue. Trying to find the chick would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Shit, Raya could probably be stepping on the bird right now and she wouldn’t know. After quickly checking her shoe to thankfully find no birds stuck on it, she decided to call reinforcements.
“Hey, Maari? You uh, doing anything important right about now?” Raya asked once her friend picked up.
“My literature class starts in like ten minutes, why?” Namaari answered.
Damn, Raya totally forgot that Namaari was a freak and decided to take a Friday class.
“Never mind, don’t worry about it. It’s not serious, really,” Raya hurriedly assured her. Now she had absolutely no clue what to do.
“No, please, tell me why you called,” Namaari insisted.
Ugh, she’s so annoying. Raya knows for a fact that she’s not going to budge until Raya tells her.
“There’s a chick lose in my apartment!”
“.........care to repeat that, dep la?”
“I don’t like the sass in your tone, Namaari!”
“Right, I’m too sassy. Apologies, Raya.”
“You should apologize, I’m freaking out man! I don’t know how to lure Mrs. Chickadee back into her cage!”
“Mrs. Chickadee?”
“THE NAME OF THE CHICK, WOMAN, KEEP UP!”
“Woah, woah, woah, there is no need for such a high volume.”
“You’re right, I’m sorry, this is very stressful. The reason why I called was because I was going to bully you into coming over but I don’t want you to miss your class so I’ll just hang up and figure something out,” Raya groaned. Right when she was about to hit the end call button, Namaari spoke up.
“Hold on, it’s fine Raya I’ll help you,” the other woman said.
“But you’ll miss your class,” Raya weakly argued.
“My professor posts everything online, I won’t have any trouble catching up. I will come over,” Namaari firmly told her.
“Hey Maari, are you a diamond? Because you dazzle me. You are one dazzling lady. Now get over here! Quickly!” Raya yelled.
“I’ll be there in ten,” Namaari confirmed. With that, the call ended and Raya could sigh in relief.
Namaari was probably one of the best friends anyone could ever ask for. Whenever Raya needed anything, Namaari was ready to assist no matter the circumstances. Hell, it was Namaari who drove Raya to and from Costco when her glasses broke so that she wouldn’t have to take an Uber. And sure, Sisu is a great friend too and all, but it’s just different with Namaari in a way Raya can’t quite explain.
Raya then continued on for her search of the missing bird until she heard a knock at the door. She hurriedly walked to the door and opened it to reveal her good friend, Namaari Fang.
“Get in here, quickly! My god, you move like a drunk frat boy!” Raya hissed as she yanked Namaari into the apartment and quickly shut the door.
“I can’t believe I am missing out on my education to be insulted by you,” Namaari scoffed.
“Cry about it,” Raya huffed while tugging Namaari further into her humble abode.
“Oh my god, the hell happened here? This place looks like a pigsty,” the taller woman said.
“So the last birdie sighting was over there, behind the couch. Then she jumped off the side of the couch, so I’m pretty sure Mrs. Chickadee is suicidal, and then she scurried off in the direction of my bedroom and now I have no idea where she is!” Raya explained.
“Ah, yes of course. Suicidal bird in your room,” Namaari laughed with an odd tone of voice.
Then, miraculously, a tiny chirp resonated in the apartment. Yes! Mrs. Chickadee lives on!
“What on Earth was that?!” Namaari asked, sounding incredibly startled.
Raya shushed her and tried to beckon the bird to come out of hiding with no such luck.
“I’ll be damned, you really do have a chick in here,” Raya heard the other woman mumble.
“Of course I have a chick in here, I don’t lie about my chicks! Oh look, she’s making a break for it! Get her!” the long haired girl exclaimed.
The duo quickly followed after the bird only for Namaari’s foot to get dangerously close to the bright yellow ball of fuzz Raya can barely make out.
“Don’t squash her!” Raya yelled.
“She cut right in front of me!”
“Just be careful, she’s being graded! If Mrs. Chickadee chickadies, Sisu is going to chickakill me!”
“Well maybe you should tell Mrs. Chickadee to watch where she’s chickagoing!”
Unfortunately, in the chaos, they lost sight of the chick. So now Raya is taking an ice cream break as Namaari continues to hunt for the tiny bird. It’s probably for the best.
“I’m like, ninety percent sure she went by that chair,” Raya declared, using her spoon to point to the chair she spoke of.
“You’re blind, I don’t trust your judgement,” Namaari easily responded.
“First of all, don’t be a mean girl, I’ve had a long day. And second of all.....that’s fair,” the shorter woman sighed as she took another bite of ice cream.
“I am nothing if not fair,” Namaari agreed. “How exactly did this disaster occur?”
“Sisu’s got this animal science class and a big part of her grade is taking care of the little guy while tracking her progress. She went to her brother’s for the weekend because of a picnic thing they have once a month so she asked me to watch Mrs. Chickadee in her absence,” Raya explained.
“Apparently Sisu needed someone to watch both of you in her absence,” Namaari smirked.
Raya hates it when Namaari’s right.
She sighed and ate yet another spoonful of ice cream. Honestly, she should stop herself. She’s the high definition of a stress eater. At the rate she’s going, Raya will have to live in the gym to burn all these calories off.
Raya was going to try aiming the spoon in order to get ice cream on Namaari’s head to bug her, but she stopped when she remembered a certain part of their earlier conversation.
“Hey Maari, what did you mean earlier?” Raya asked without really thinking. She probably should have given her a little more elaboration.
“What are you talking about?” Namaari asked while moving a curtain to see if that was where the chick was hiding.
“Oh, you know, when you got here. You kinda sounded like you didn’t actually believe I had a chick in the house,” Raya clarified. All she got was a dismissive hum from the other girl. “I mean, if I didn’t have the obviously real chick, why did you think I was calling?”
“No no, I thought you were calling about the chick,” Namaari said in the most unconvincing tone of all time.
“Well I personally did not see it that way.”
“You can’t see shit without your glasses, your seeing is very off right now.”
“You are so rude for that.”
“You always think I’m rude- there she is!” Namaari exclaimed, finally finding the damned bird.
“Wait, seriously?” Raya asked hopefully.
Before she knew, it Namaari had lunged across the room to nab Mrs. Chickadee. Raya winced hearing Namaari’s body thud on the ground. That had to hurt.
The currently blind girl rushed over and picked up the little chick from Namaari’s hands. Faster than the devil himself, Raya put Mrs. Chickadee in her cage and locked it.
“I should put you in chains for what you’ve done tonight,” Raya huffed.
Now that the Mrs. Chickadee had been thrown into lockdown she rushed over to Namaari who was still laying on her stomach of the floor. Raya couldn’t help but laugh at the fact that Namaari seemed to have decided there was no point in getting up after that incident.
“How you doin’ down there?” Raya asked while sitting by Namaari’s head.
“I’m not talking to you. You left me for the bird,” Namaari grumbled.
“But Maari, if I didn’t get the bird, your sacrifice would have been in vain! I could never do that to you!” Raya exclaimed while trying really hard not to laugh.
“I suppose. Pretty sure I cracked several ribs though,” Namaari sighed.
She then rolled over so that she was now laying on her back instead of her stomach that she so painfully landed on. Raya scooted over so that Namaari could rest her head on Raya’s lap. Raya yawned as she began idly playing with the other woman’s hair. Namaari mimicked Raya’s yawn and closed her eyes.
“What’s up Undercut?” Raya smiled.
“Just getting injured because of you. Really, it’s just another day in the life,” Namaari said, not bothering to open her eyes.
“Oh come on, aren’t I worth the trouble?” Raya giggled, playfully pinching Namaari’s nose.
“You are,” Namaari simply stated.
Raya blushed at the apparent honesty. Her heart embarrassingly fluttered when Namaari opened her eyes and made eye contact with her. Before Raya could do anything stupid, Namaari’s phone rang.
“Could you get that for me? I’m very comfortable here,” Namaari said while closing her eyes again.
Given the fact that Namaari’s phone is on the table right next to them, Raya easily reached it and handed it to the woman that seemed to be a little too comfortable. Huh, the caller was Atitaya. Wonder what that’s about?
“Hey, what’s up?” Namaari asked. Some muffled sounds on the other end of the line was followed by Namaari’s loud groaning. “Can it seriously not wait?”
More muffled voices indicated that whatever was going on seriously could not wait because Namaari slowly began sitting up, much to Raya’s dismay. She tried to hide her disappointment. She was also choosing to ignore the fact that she missed the other woman’s warmth. This is fine. Totally normal bestie feelings here.
“My awful cousin needs to be picked up from the airport because apparently Uber no longer exists. Or lyft. Or a taxi,” Namaari grumbled as she ended the call.
With a whole lot of complaint, Namaari finally stood up on her own two feet. Raya held out both hands to her friend, silently demanding for her friend to help her up.
“Are you being for real?” the now standing woman deadpanned.
Raya simply smiled and made no move to lower her arms. Namaari rolled her eyes but nonetheless grabbed Raya’s hands and hoisted her up.
“Geez, what would you do without me?” Namaari smirked.
“Probably whither away,” Raya answered honestly.
“Thought so.”
“There’s no need to be so smug, Namaari.”
“First I’m sassy, then I’m smug. Man, I never get to win with you.”
“No, no you don’t because I’m perfect.”
“Well even a smug and sassy girl like me could have told you that.”
“See, here you are back at it again with the sass. Do you ever learn?”
Namaari opened her mouth to respond but was cut off by a loud buzz from her phone. She frowned seeing the message that was left and shoved her phone back in her pocket.
“Alright, I actually have to go because now she’s yelling at me virtually,” Namaari told her.
Raya smiled and gave her a tight hug. Namaari’s arms wrapped around her to give her a small squeeze back.
“Thanks for being the best Namaari ever,” Raya smiled while letting go.
“It’s what I’m here for. I’ll see you later, yeah?” Namaari asked as she was walking out the door.
“Unfortunately for you, yeah,” Raya confirmed.
“Goodnight Raya,” Namaari laughed.
“Goodnight,” Raya said as she closed the door behind Namaari.
As Raya was walking back to her room, she passed by Mrs. Chickadee. She sighed and sat by the bird’s cage.
“So. You think I got a chance with her?” Raya asked.
Mrs. Chickadee chirped.
“Yeah, I hope so too.”
**********************************************
“Hey bestie! How was chick sitting?” Sisu asked way too early on a Sunday morning.
“So you’re gonna laugh when I tell you this,” Raya began.
“OH MY GOD YOU KILLED HER!” Sisu screamed.
She shoved past Raya and threw her bedroom door open which was where Mrs. Chickadee’s cage resides. And there the cute bird was, just chirping away.
“Oh thank god. Okay, what happened?” Sisu questioned as she flopped on her bed now that she’s much more relaxed.
Raya hopped on the bed with her and gave her friend the spark notes version of what went down a couple days ago. Thankfully, since nothing bad actually happened to the chick Sisu did laugh when she heard the whole story.
“I’m just glad she’s okay,” Sisu smiled.
“Yeah, she’s certainly doing better than Namaari’s ribs right now,” Raya snorted.
“Oh? And what was Namaari doing here?” Sisu asked.
Only now did Raya remember she didn’t actually mentioned Namaari guest starring in the story of the chick that almost escaped this apartment.
“So while assessing the situation in my typical cool calm and collected manner, I had a breakdown before calling Namaari asking for her help,” Raya told her.
“That’s a very Raya thing to do,” Sisu nodded.
Raya laughed before contemplating whether to mention that situation that bothered her the other night. Ultimately, she decided she may as well bring it up. Maybe she can get some perspective.
“Let me tell you Sisu, she said the weirdest thing that night too,” Raya told her.
“What, may I break my ribs on your floor?” Sisu snorted.
“Good guess, but no. When we got there and started our chick hunt she said something along the lines of oh wow you really do have a chick in here. Like I made it up.”
“I mean come on.”
“Come on what?”
“If you call someone and say help me look for my loose chick, its sorta kinda...,” Sisu said trailing off.
“Sorta kinda what?” Raya frowned.
“Sorta kinda sounding like code for I don’t have any underwear on.”
“Thats not the code for I don’t have any underwear on! Is there even a code for that?”
“If there is, it is definitely everything you said to her when you wanted her to come over. It’s not exactly uncommon to make up some bullshit excuse to see the person you got the hots for,” Sisu laughed.
“Oh my god, one of the first things I told her was that I saw the Mrs. Chickadee in my bedroom! Now she thinks I’m a whore!” Raya groaned while face planting in the pillows.
“No she doesn’t, because you actually ended up having a chick. She was only hoping you were a whore,” Sisu grinned.
“Your words do not provide me comfort,” Raya’s muffled voice told her.
“Okay, get your ass up,” Sisu said while yanking on Raya’s arm. “It’s obvious you have feelings for Namaari. So come on, be a big girl and tell her how you feel. Call her.”
“What no, I’m not-” Raya tried to say before her beloved friend decided to be a jackass and take her phone.
Before Raya could even think about fighting back, Sisu opened her phone and pressed the contact name of a certain someone. As the phone was ringing, Raya lunged at Sisu.
“You seem pretty cheerful for a dead girl walking, you evil miscreant!” Raya seethed.
Lucky for Sisu, the phone stopped ringing. Unlucky for Raya, it was because Namaari answered the call.
“Hello? Did you lose another avian again?” Namaari’s voice crackled over the phone.
“Nope, no wandering creatures tonight!” Raya laughed nervously. She vowed to kick Sisu’s ass for this.
“Good, I was seriously wondering if you can be alone without adult supervision,” Namaari laughed.
“You are so annoying,” Raya said with no bite in her tone.
“Since it’s not that, why did you call?” Namaari asked.
Shit, Raya had to come up with an excuse and fast.
“Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,” Raya said.
You know, like a dumbass.
“Tell her the TV’s not working,” Sisu whispered in her ear.
“The TV’s not working! I try turning it on and all I see is weird static and stuff. Think you can help me out? Only if you’re not busy,” Raya spat out.
“Yeah, I have some time on my hands. I’ll be over in fifteen. Later,” Namaari told her.
“Thanks, you’re the best!” Raya told her before hanging up.
“Now all that’s left is for you to confess your undying feelings for her! I’ll make a beautiful bridesmaid at your guys’s wedding!” Sisu swooned.
“Great, no I actually did make up an excuse for to see her! Ugh, you are turning me into the whore Namaari was expecting!” Raya yelled while hitting Sisu in the face with a pillow.
“I’m doing you a favor, trust me. Now then, I’ll start packing now,” Sisu said.
With that, she hopped out of the bed and started to toss clothes into her backpack.
“I didn’t know your weekend was so jam packed. What have you got going on today, I don’t remember you telling me anything about it,” Raya frowned.
“Oh, there wasn’t a plan or anything, I just don’t want to be here when you guys go at it,” Sisu explained casually.
“I hate you so much,” Raya deadpanned.
“No you don’t!” Sisu cheerfully stated.
Damn, she got Raya there.
Not even five minutes later her friend was out the door. Within the following three minutes, Raya heard a knock. That meant Namaari has just arrived. God, Raya felt like she was gonna puke.
With embarrassingly shaky hands, she opened the door for her good friend. Her pal. Her compadre. Her buddy.
“Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Namaari,” Raya smiled, admittedly very awkwardly.
“You are so weird,” Namaari snorted as she entered the apartment.
When Raya could pretend her feelings didn’t exist, she had no problem with Namaari’s presence. Unfortunately, Sisu called her out. Raya is totally into Namaari.
So how the hell is she supposed to actually say it?
What’s to say Namaari even likes her back anyways? Raya isn’t one hundred percent sure what she’s supposed to be doing right now.
“Alright, let’s see what we’re working with here,” Namaari said.
Due to Raya’s pondering, she didn’t realize her friend had made her way to the television. When Namaari reached for the remote, Raya rushed over and swiped it before the taller woman could even touch it.
“Great, so you expect me to fix this TV with my mind?” Namaari frowned.
“No. That’s not it. I just, I gotta be honest with you here,” Raya sighed while fiddling with the remote.
“Of course. You can tell me anything,” Namaari said to her sincerely.
“Well, there’s sorta kinda nothing wrong with my TV. I lied. I’m a cheap liar. I lured you here under false pretenses,” Raya admitted.
To prove her point, Raya pointed the remote at the television and pressed the on button. As she just stated, the TV functioned normally. Sound on with very clear images. She then turned it off and tossed the remote on the couch.
“I see. Please, enlighten me. Why have you called upon me?” Namaari asked.
Namaari thankfully seemed more amused than anything. Raya’s pretty sure that’s a good sign.
“Okay. No prob. I just wanted to say that I.....,” Raya sighed and took a deep breath. “I like you. As in, more than a friend. And it’s totally okay if you don’t feel the same way! We can absolutely forget this ever happened and-”
Raya could physically feel the words tumble out of her mouth at a speed not even she can stop. Namaari did her a favor by simply putting her hand over Raya’s mouth.
“Okay, I seriously do not know how you’re so stressed about this confession thing. Was I not painfully obvious in the fact that I liked you too?” Namaari asked.
Raya’s entire being lit up at the news. Raya removed the hand that was covering her mouth and beamed.
“So You want to date me? As in, you really want to date me?”
“That’s correct. You’re a quick study, deo la.”
“Hmm. Well, I personally feel like you could have dropped a couple hints, but that’s just me. Now that that’s out of the way, I wanna know the real reason why you thought I didn’t have a chick in the house,” Raya demanded.
“Fine, I’ll give. You’re not the only cheap liar here. I had hoped that you were just making up an excuse to have me come over,” Namaari admitted.
Raya was very pleased to see the other woman’s cheeks develop a nice tint of red.
“I hope it makes you feel better that I literally just did that,” Raya smiled.
“Indeed it does,” Namaari confirmed.
“Now that we’re dating and all, I suppose this would be an appropriate time to kiss you?” Raya asked hopefully.
“You know, I think you’re onto something there,” Namaari agreed.
They stared at each other for a moment before colliding their bodies together. The kiss got intense at rather rapid pace and before Raya even knew it, they wounded up in her bedroom.
“I hope you realize that the last time I came over, I was hoping you’d want to do a lot more than just see me,” Namaari panted.
The taller woman paused, waiting for Raya’s response. She was giving her an out.
“Sisu’s not coming back until morning. We’ve got a lot of lost time to make up for,” Raya whispered as she pulled Namaari into her bedroom.
All Raya was willing to say about that night was that it’s a good thing Sisu decided to leave.

Love how Ethari chooses every word carefully to not startle Rayla... while Runaan just says it out loud directly...
Bloodmoon huntress actually confirmed my headcannon of Ethari being the deeply considerate one and Runaan being the more direct one! Yes!

Ok so as someone who lost a family member, let me tell you like one of the biggest fears (at least for me) is that you’ll forget the little things about that person. So you make lists and you have to constantly remind yourself about the facts you can remember about them, and just, I can so imagine Raya, after months in the woods alone, not remembering something small, something like what her dad’s favorite book was.
She has a basic idea, two or three that she thinks it can be, but the uncertainty, the fact she she can’t just ask him and be sure, has her near catatonic. She can’t believe it, she feels like she’s forgetting him already, and she has to convince herself that he’s not really gone so it’s ok. She’s ok. She’ll get to ask him again just as soon as she finds Sisu and brings everyone back.
But after that, she keeps a journal. A small little inconspicuous book that she uses to keep track of all his favorite things that she can remember, his favorite jokes, little sayings, special moments she can remember them sharing together.
And after everyone is back and Raya’s back to living with her Ba in Heart, she still keeps it with her because it’s one of the most important things that she owns. It’s always in her pocket or in her bag, and one day she gets ambushed by baby Noi or something when they come to visit and she doesn’t notice it slipping out of her bag, but Benja does.
He doesn’t know what it is, but he figures she’ll want it back so he goes to pick it up for her. It landed open to a random page, and he really doesn’t mean to read it but his eyes glance over a small excerpt about a day that he kind of remembers and he pauses:
“Remember when he took you to Tinago falls he and helped teach you how to scale a waterfall and you both sat at the top and the water made a rainbow and you said that the rainbow made the day perfect, and then he said that it was perfect because he was spending it with you”
And after that he can’t stop reading.
“Remember when you both raided the kitchen for butter cookies and you got caught but he distracted the cook for you and you managed to slip away and then you both ate them together in the garden. Note: Have a garden picnic when you get him back”
“His favorite color is yellow, but not orangey-yellow like a sunset, the bright kind like the inside of a fresh lemon”
“His favorite animal is the sunbird because he likes how colorful it is”
But then he notices that the language changes.
“His favorite folktale was the Locust and the Ant because he liked that it was about hard work”
“His favorite instrument was the butting Bamboo violin. The Bamboo violin. I think. Because he liked that-”
“His favorite food was Bulalo.”
“He loved...”
“Remember when...”
“He once said...”
And it goes on and on like that for pages. Facts about himself that he didn’t even ever notice. Towards the end, the entries get shorter and the information inside is sometimes wrong. He’s almost at the last page when he sees Raya come sprinting back toward him, eyes frantically sweeping the ground as if she were looking for something, before her eyes meet his and she freezes.
By now, tears are streaming down his face and he’s having a hard time breathing and she slowly walks up to him and stands shyly, almost ashamedly, in front of him.
“I was-” she starts with a stutter, “I was afraid I’d forget”
And then he realizes, she thinks he’s upset because she needed a list to remember him. That he’s hurt because it made him feel like he wasn’t important enough to just remember.
She opens her mouth again, and knowing his daughter, it’s to apologize, but before she can speak, he wraps her in the tightest hug he can, arms shaking and tears still streaming down his face. He knows that there’s still so much that they need to work through together, so much they still need to talk about.
But for now. For now he just wants her to know that he’s here.

(Needed some goofy fluff to distract myself from the angst im writing so buckle up, its long. Based on that one post I cannot find so if anyone can help a homie out, much appreciated)
Raya/Namaari Accidental Marriage Proposal
Its not a far stretch to assume that the different tribes have different practices and rituals. And given the 500 year gap in communication its also easy enough to assume that the tribes don't know about each others differing customs.
For example: marriage proposals. In Tail its as cut-and-dry as asking. Talon people propose with rings and jade coin. When you propose in Spine you chop down a tree to show your commitment and strength.
The Fang propose with blades. Fang people love their knives, daggers, spears, and other pointy weapons, so if you want to ask someone to marry you, you do it with a blade.
I like to imagine it'd be because offering a blade to someone- who isn't family -is the equivalent of trusting your life to that person. I like to think the Fang value not only a person's strength and honour, but their ability to care and protect their people. So giving a blade to your chosen love is like saying, "I'm giving you this weapon because I trust you with my heart, literally and metaphorically".
But again, 500 year old divide means others have no clue what giving a knife to someone from Fang entails...
So maybe its been a few months or so after the Druun have been vanquished. Raya is still re-learning how to be a 'princess' while playing liaison between the tribes, with Sisu as her partner in crime. She likes it because she still gets to travel and she gets to see her new friends from the other tribes: Boun's business is booming, Noi has started talking, and Tong has become the new Chief of Spine.
Then there's Namaari.
Six years of playing cat-and-mouse together (or rather angry kitten and homeless puppy) can be hard to overcome. At first it was a struggle. And incredibly awkward. Namaari, too guilt ridden over what she'd done, and Raya, still angry and socially stunted, could barely hold a conversation together.
Eventually Raya, fed up with the weird awkward talk, dragged Namaari to Fang's training grounds and challenged her to a sparring match. And only when it was over, the both of them exhausted and laying on the ground, did they start talking, actually talking. About what happened with the gem, with Sisu, what they can't let go of, not yet, but what they hope they can move past one day.
It made things after easier because it was familiar ground for them, but it also opened up new paths too. Now in the months since they saved the world and having spent that time working together, Raya would like to consider Namaari a close friend.
Which is probably why she's so surprised when Namaari off-handedly mentions her birthday is next week. Namaari, who's less than thrilled about her mother's plans for a big celebration, doesn't even notice how much Raya's caught off guard. Namaari doesn't really care for her birthday, much less when her mother makes a big deal about it, but she still brushes her hair behind her ear when she asks Raya if she's going to attend.
Raya recovers, nudging Namaari saying that she's obviously going, and boasting about the amazing gift she's going to bring.
Which then leads to her dragging Sisu to Talon in search of the perfect gift (Sisu being the only 'person' she knows who can help being that she's a master gift giver... Sisu's words, not Raya's, but still). They run around Talon for ages, with Sisu practically buying everything in sight (with the Heart Palace Credit of course) but Raya can't find a single thing she thinks Namaari would actually like.
And then she spots a Fang vendor selling blades.
The woman is nice and she asks Raya if she's looking for something in particular. Raya says she wants to get a dagger for 'someone special' from Fang (not wanting to rack up the price if the woman knew who it was for, but also completely unaware to what she's just implied).
The vendor seems a little surprised but she easily walks Raya through picking out the perfect dagger for her 'someone special'. Raya ends up buying a pretty, yet functional dagger with a dragon engraved in the blade and an ornate box to keep it in. As Raya's leaving the woman gives her a pat on the shoulder and says, "All the best for the both of you and I'm sure she'll say yes," which Raya can't really make sense of so she shrugs and leaves to go find Sisu and her mountain of trinkets.
So now its the party, and when Namaari said Virana was making a big deal about it, she really meant it. People from all the tribes are attending and Sisu's brought her brothers and sisters and there's music and food and fireworks...
And Namaari stands beside her mother in a beautiful dress that makes Raya's heart thud erratically (it's totally platonic). Her and her Ba walk up to them and start making small talk before her Ba and Virana break off to chat with other dignitaries, leaving Raya and Namaari together.
Raya likes how Namaari relaxes around her when its just them, despite the room full of people. They talk and banter and tease and laugh, but more than anything Raya just likes being with Namaari. And when Namaari mentions how much she hates formal wear, how dresses don't suit her, Raya makes it a game to see how many times she can mention how beautiful Namaari looks while they're talking, just because it makes Namaari flush and do the hair thing she does when she's shy. No other heart-related reason.
Its not until much later when Raya suddenly remembers the gift she brought and she runs off to fetch it. When she returns she hands Namaari the sleek box with a smile and a sheepish "Happy Birthday dep'la".
And Namaari's blushing and smiling as she takes the box, telling Raya she didn't have to as she opens the box-
And immediately slams it shut. Her face turns bright red and she whorls on Raya with wide eyes and a panicked, hissed "whatareyoudoing?!" And poor Raya's totally thrown, so sure she'd picked out the perfect gift. "You don't like it?" But Namaari shoves the box back into her hands, with another frenzied whisper "thatsnotit!"
Well now Raya's a little miffed because "You didn't even look at it" and before Namaari can stop her she's pulling the dagger from the box and offering it back to Namaari.
Meanwhile the room goes incredibly quiet as everyone from Fang suddenly notices what's happening between the princesses. Virana nearly spits out her drink. Everyone else carries on like normal, but a few people watch their new Fang friends with curious looks, completely out of the loop.
So now Raya's essentially down on one knee without realizing it, Namaari's about to have a heart attack, everyone from Fang is on the edge of their seat, and the dragons are having a rousing drinking contest with people from Spine.
So the party is going great.
Raya (oblivious to the world save for Namaari) is giving Namaari her strongest puppy dog eyes because she'd spent so long looking for the perfect gift dep'la, and "You're pretty special Namaari, special to me, and you deserve it."
Namaari, as red faced as she is, softens at Raya's admission, smiling a little to herself before she takes the dagger from Raya with a soft "it's lovely dep'la".
And suddenly the room's loud again as people from Fang start clapping and whistling. Everyone else is lost but soon they join in as well, despite having no clue as to what they're cheering for. Namaari's back to being flustered and she grabs Raya's hand and hauls her toward Virana and Benja. Raya, finally taking in the room around them, is confused as to why people are congratulating her and Namaari.
Virana has recovered by the time the two approach and if no one knew better it might've also appeared she was trying hard not to smile. Namaari hisses something to her mother Raya doesn't hear, and she shoots her Ba a questioning look. Benja looks a little pensive but he's got a quirk in his lips that Raya knows means mischief.
Virana gently pats her daughter's shoulder before turning to address the room, excusing the four of them. They turn to leave but not before Virana calls out to the crowd, "And it goes without saying you're all invited to the wedding as well," and then ushers her horrified daughter, her baffled betrothed, and Benja out the door.
Instantly Namaari's in hysterics, asking her mother why she'd say that when Raya obviously didn't know what she was doing. Virana, quite obviously playing ignorance, asks why Namaari accepted the blade if she knew what she was doing. And poor Namaari can only gape, red faced and no come back.
Raya has finally caught on to what she's done and yeah, okay now it all makes sense. The vendor, Namaari's (gay) panic, the congratulations... she just proposed to Namaari. She just proposed to Namaari. In front of most of Kumandra. Oh toi!
Benja, still smirking to himself, ruffles Raya's hair before turning to Namaari and Virana and saying, "To be fair... Namaari did propose first."
Marriage proposals in Heart are an exchange of necklaces. So when Namaari had given Raya the Sisu pendant back when they were kids, they'd essentially gotten engaged and since Raya kept it, they've technically been engaged for the past six years.
(Too) Long story short, Raya and Namaari get engaged, get married, fall in love, and live sapphically ever after.
End.
(Okay, I'm done. Back to angst.)
