Prompt: Stained Glass
Pairing: Viktor x Reader
Word count: 559
Tw: none. tis fluff.
A/N: This is going towards my domestication of a feral scientist random blurb list. Reader is preggo with baby Aryn. this is sort of a tentative part two to HOME. Whoop, also, hello all. I am really sorry about the random time lapse. Life has been hectic. But I am back now to write up a storm.
Tumblr media
The weeks following the move into the new house were busy- mainly for Jayce and VIktor. They both refused to allow you to help with anything of consequence due to the pregnancy, despite your doctor stating that you were more than capable of helping, as long as it is something you would have normally done prior- nothing too strenuous but your job description rarely relied on strenuous tasks. There is little heavy lifting in being Mel’s aid.
While Viktor works on your shared room– doing what, you are unsure seeing as he, too, can not lift much– you work on the living room. There is little to lift, but plenty to clean. Jayce has cleared out the middle wall, separating the kitchen from the living area, opening the space dramatically.
Settled onto the coffee table is your record player, your parents. It is old and barely working, the sound coming out slightly more static-y than you remember it being as a child, but you don't care. Happily, you drop the arm, sighing in relief when the melody begins, quickly filling the space with its gentle melody. You have long forgotten the words your mother used to sing, but you still feel the warmth of her arms around you while she sings, the melody easing your fears. Spinning around with the broom, can't help the smile that stretches across your face as you swirl to a stop at the windows, opting to clear some of the residual dust and dirt from the vibrant stained glass windows you discovered the day prior- all covered and boarded up. The brilliant blues, greens and purples flood the room, staining the hardwood floors, shadows flickering amongst the fuzzy rays as you move, humming out loud.
In the all but empty home, the music echoes, dancing down the hall and into your room, making Viktor pause in his work. Listening intently, he softens, running his thumb over the hook of his cane as he wanders closer, careful not to make too much noise, sighing happily. He knows this song.
Pausing at the end of the hall, he leans against the wall, watching you dance in the light, swirling around with the broom. Your skirt flutters around your ankles, lifting slightly as you twirl making you feel like you're walking on air. The dancing lights remind him much of the mosaics you had shown him once, illuminating the warmth of your smile as you spin to a stop, a giggle escaping your lips as you continue to hum, only catching a glimpse of his form before you spin to a stop- half bowed, arm stretched in his direction, hand out.
An invitation.
Unable to stop his own smile, he steps forward slowly, settling his cane off to the side as he tugs you closer, settling your body neatly against his. Slowly, he wraps one arm around your waist, fingers curling around your hip lightly as he takes your hand with his free one, fingers slotting around yours as he tugs you to follow his steps. Grinning, you do so gladly, freezing only when he drops his head to rest his mouth next to your ear, softly singing the words as he spins you. Taking a weak breath, you tug him closer, resting your forehead to his shoulder, mouthing the words back as they come flooding back.

I would love to! This is for all the hopeless romantics out there who love Bokuto.
@janellion ... I hear you like stuff like this?
Downtown
Is it really this fun when you're on my mind? Is it really this cool to be in your life?
Bokuto x Reader, fluff. 2.2 K
Warnings: Nothing major. Suicide mentioned as part of a drink title. A little suggestive at the end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The automatic doors hiss open as you walk into the humid Osaka night, wincing. The AC inside the 7/11 had made it easy to forget how hot it was. The slurpee you just bought is sweet and takes the edge off, but beyond that, you couldn’t say what the flavor was exactly. You let Bokuto take both of your cups to the machine and make suicides out of every option - “So none of ’em feel left out!” - like you always did.
He was following you out, eyes gleaming in the fluorescent lights of the signs above you.
"It's good to just hang out like this again. We haven't done this in forever!" He was waving animatedly in your general direction, the drink in his flailing hand getting dangerously close to spilling on your shirt.
"Woah! My bad! Nothing got on you, right?"
You nod. He responds with a thousand watt smile that pushes his eyes closed and makes you want to grab his stupid hair spikes and drag him into a kiss.
You’ve got it so bad for your best friend that it’s almost funny, if it wasn’t also completely pathetic. It's only recently that you realized you liked him as more than a friend- but now that you’re reminiscing with him, the signs were very, very obvious. To you, at least.
The pair of you are moving from the eye-piercing light of the storefront and over to the far side of the parking lot. The plan? To loiter, just like you did in high school when volleyball practice got out. Usually, you'd have 3 or 4 of his teammates with you, eating garbage snack food and joking around on the curb until the manager would chase you away.
You can see in your mind how you would gravitate towards Bokuto on those nights, sitting next to him in the parking lot, bumping your foot or your knee into his while you talked. How you laughed at his jokes and would ask for his jacket when it got cold. His presence was magnetic, and you got pulled in deep. It wasn’t until after you both had graduated and started down separate paths that you were able to really see what you had. What you missed so deeply.
It's just the two of you tonight, Bokuto fresh out of practice and talking excitedly about his teammates' antics, just like he used to. The only things that are different now are the names of the players. He’s telling you a story about his germophobic friend, Sasuke? You think? Bokuto talks so fast sometimes he doesn’t really annunciate well - and you sigh at the familiarity of it all. Maybe this would turn out alright; maybe you had been avoiding meeting up with Bokuto for no reason?
You had thought that seeing him in person again, not just on a grainy phone screen, would be disastrous. It was hard enough to try and keep your feelings inside over video calls and text messages, but having him in front of you? You knew you’d do something to tip him off on how you felt toward him, and even though you knew he would never stop being your friend, the fear of your love being unrequited held you back.
He'd been asking for weeks to meet up, and you had been successfully blaming college on your schedules not working - until he offered you to meet him late night on Friday, just like you used to. With no excuse and an irrationally heavy heart, you agreed to meet up.
Perhaps it was just a crush? Maybe you sought him out between classes and waited for hours after school just so see him because you just…. Liked him. And you had halfway convinced yourself that's all it was, until he had smiled at you brightly and reminded you just how dull things were without him in your life.
He’s sitting now on a parking block with his back against a bollard, slapping the spot next to him invitingly. Bokuto whoops when you drop down next to him, slush flying from his cup as he whips it excitedly. "You gotta see this!"
He scoots closer to you, phone in hand. There's a paused youtube video onscreen: a highlight reel someone had made of his spikes. He hits play as soon as you lean in a little, grinning wildly and giving a play by play commentary as you watch. The outside of his thigh presses into yours warmly.
Here's hoping he can’t somehow feel the heat creeping up your neck.
He beams at you from over the phone, looking at you expectantly as the video ends. “Wasn’t I great?”
You feel like you’ve run a mile and all he did was press his leg to yours. He’s too great. “Yes, Bokuto, you were amazing.”
He’s really grinning now, eyes crinkling shut. “You’ve gotta come to one of my games and see me in action! I promise, it’s waaaay better in person! You could even,” he pauses for a moment, thinking, “bring one of the guys you’ve been seeing? Watching me win would be an awesome date.”
Oh god, your dates. You had tried going on a few recently, another attempt to distance yourself from your best friend. Nothing serious - just coffee shop conversations, but they easily lost a competition they weren't even aware they were in. None of them could even begin to make you feel the way Bokuto did. And the thought of taking one of them to see your best friend and unrequited crush in his element? There’s no way that wouldn't find a way to blow up in your face.
“That’s a great idea, man,” you lie. “I’m not seeing anyone right now though.” Bokuto’s giving you a spectacular double eyebrow raise above his cup. “Oh ho?”
You flick his arm gently. “Don’t be mean, Bo. I’ll just come to a game and hang out in the stands with your date instead.”
Why did you say that. Why did you say that. Why did you say that.
The eyebrows come down. He’s smiling, but it’s not quite reaching his eyes, which aren’t meeting your own. “Nah, you can’t do that. We broke up.”
You feel terrible for the little thrill that sends through you.
“Oh, Bokuto, I’m sorry.” You are. He’s your best friend. The cruel joy you feel does not go away.
His eyes flicker to you momentarily. “Nah, it’s fine. They weren’t the one, you know?”
Who is? You want to ask. What comes out instead is, “How did you know?”
Bokuto hums inquisitively. “Know what?”
“That they weren’t the one. How did you know?”
He’s still not looking at you when he replies, “I just know.”
Silence falls. You use the quiet moment as an excuse to turn away as well. This is really unlike him. Had he changed that much in the time since you last saw him? Nothing else about Bokuto seems different - maybe the issue was just you?
Stop it. Don’t think things like that.
The silence drags on. You pull the straw of your drink into your mouth and chew, trying to think of something not romance-related to talk about. Nothing is coming to mind - Bokuto has been all you can think about for a solid week, and being next to him is NOT helping. It’s just the two of you, alone together in silence. It’s late enough that there aren’t any pedestrians on walks to distract you, the night quiet and dark outside of the strangely illuminated parking lot. Desperate to think of anything else, you look up at the hazy summer sky.
It’s hard to see stars through the light pollution, but you can make out Vega, you think. Some stars were bright enough to see even in the middle of the city. The straw pops out of your mouth as you point it out loudly, getting Bokuto’s attention.
“Check it out Bo, you can see part of Lyra. That star’s got to be Vega. You remember?”
Bokuto jerks slightly before he turns to face you, looking startled. His gaze follows your finger up, mouth still pursed around the straw in his mouth. His smile returns as he tilts his head to peer up at the sky with you. “You told me about that one once! It’s a summer constellation, right?”
You drop your hand as Bokuto starts pointing out the faint other stars of the summer triangle. It may be hard to see stars in the city, but with Bokuto shining next to you, it’s hard to see anything else at all. The weird fluorescence of the parking lot light should have washed him out, but somehow he was aglow, soft shadows instead of harsh lines shading him lightly. He really was a star, and he burned the brightest out of any that you could see tonight.
You were staring at him again.
It’s no surprise when he catches you this time, golden eyes meeting yours and matching your gaze. The delight is still present on his face but it’s sobering, turning serious. Your heart is racing as Bokuto continues to stare you down in silence. His eyebrows draw together as he raises his hand slowly, reaching for your face.
A finger grazes your cheek. You might have stopped breathing. He opens his mouth.
“You had some slush on your face.” His finger remains there, rubbing at the stuck on sugar.
...
Okay. Something has to change. There’s only so much your heart can take.
You reach up and cup your hand over his, holding it in place. Bokuto stills at the sudden contact, bewildered. You aren’t sure what you are doing, much less how to say what you want, but you hope that somehow he understands. No sound escapes your mouth as you maintain eye contact and slot your fingers together. Bokuto stares, still uncharacteristically silent - but he’s not just looking anymore. His eyes are searching, gaze sharp and analytical. You couldn’t look away from them if you wanted to.
Bokuto blinks first, eyes flitting over to your joined hands as you press your cheek into the heat of his palm. His thumb drags lightly over to your skin, meeting your bottom lip and tracing along the curve of it. He watches, entranced, as they part slightly from the touch.
Even if this doesn’t work out. Even then. Just having this moment would be enough. Your eyes close as you huff out the breath you had been holding. The hot coil of anxiety snaking through your stomach makes you hesitant to open them again. When Bokuto’s thumb moves from your mouth to pad at your cheek, you steel yourself and open them again.
You shouldn't have worried. There’s nothing in his golden eyes but understanding when you finally dare to open them again. Bokuto’s remaining hand is impossibly gentle as he places it on your shoulder, leaning into your space. His shoulders shake minutely with barely contained excitement from the breakthrough he’s just had - you like him, just as much as he likes you. There’s no way he can’t feel the heat in your skin rising now as your pulse skyrockets.
“Kou…”, you whisper into the shrinking space between you.
Bokuto doesn’t bother with a response. His lips are a little chapped when they capture yours, but they're warm and eager and pressing in with the weight of half a decade of unconfessed feelings.
You know immediately what he meant earlier about knowing ‘the one’. No kiss from any of your dates was ever this electric. None of them made you feel like time was stopping when their lips met yours, or made your heart beat like it was about to fly from your chest. None of them made you feel like you were finally home, held in strong arms and with a familiar hand gently running along your cheek.
There really was no one like Bokuto, and you were so glad there was no one else for him but you right now.
You push forward until you chests are touching, desperate for closer contact now that you know you’re allowed to get it. The back of his head is cradled in your free hand, fingers tangling in the short spikes at the nape of his neck. Bokuto hums against your mouth, tongue slipping out to trace where his thumb had been earlier. He starts backward slightly as you meet it with the tip of yours, breaking away with a gasp.
“Woah! Not on the first date!”
“You used tongue first.” Your deadpan expression doesn't faze him. He wraps a heavy arm around your shoulders and pulls you close to his side, laughing.
Wait a minute.
“Did you say date? Is this a date?”
Bokuto freezes. He glances at you side-eyed and inquires quietly, “Do you... want it to be one?”
It’s much easier to be truthful when you’ve had his tongue in your mouth. “I’d love it to be one.”
Bokuto whoops loudly, the exclamation echoing in the empty lot.
First dates usually sucked. This one, however, was going to stick with you for a long time. You run your tongue over your lips as you bump your head to his shoulder. Who knew slurpees tasted even better on someone else's mouth?
“Y'know, If we don’t leave soon,” you tease, “the manager might chase us away again.”
He hums dismissively and bends to press a kiss to your temple.
“Let’em.”

Dragon Age: Origins, day 8.
Heh, Alistair got in the killing blows on both dragons this time. Good for you, kid. Especially in light of certain planned future developments.
Daiwen was frankly horrified by Oghren’s attempts at flirting with Felsi and was in no mood to do his work for him, so I deliberately threw the quest to get them back together. Not that it ultimately matters, aren’t they married by Awakening regardless?
OK, now let’s go get Shale.
Daiwen’s default team for much of the game has been Alistair/Zevran/Wynne, aka Team Three Men With Very Sharp Blades And Their Spell-Slinging Grandma. I was about to give them another nickname, but apparently I’d forgotten that Zevran was an elf? Whoops.
Oh Maker, this puzzle. Time to make good friends with the walkthrough again.
And Shale has been grabbed, and several inventory slots blessedly freed up. Well, let’s start winding this up and go talk to Arl Eamon.
*sigh* Fine time for the game to get the crashies. I’ve had to play through the conversations with Eamon and Loghain three times so far, please let it not be more.
Hey, it’s Riordan! Time to have a nice long conversation so I can listen to his voice.
Oh look, it’s Anora. Wearing some absolutely unnecessary boob plate.
Under other circumstances, Daiwen might stand down, but Cauthrien was patronizing enough before that he at least wants the chance to punch her in the face. Churl? He’ll show you churlish.
OK, time to escape Fort Drakon. As funny as the rescues are, let’s try Warrior Boys Doing It For Themselves this time.
Well, that was quite amusing. Thanks, game.
And now we start getting the wheels turning on our Landsmeet plan. First up, convincing Anora and Alistair to get married. Oh, kid, I’m sorry.
It definitely adds to the creepy atmosphere in the orphanage when the game gets the graphical glitchies and refuses to load any of the floor or wall textures, so everything is just floating in an inky void.
Welp. Landsmeet time.
Cauthrien. Cauthrien. Looking a Dalish in the face and telling him that selling elves into slavery is fine if you really need the money? It’s like you want to die.
Oh shit, Wynne and Zevran are down, time to break out some health poutines. (What? That’s their name now. I have spoken.)
This is...quite a moment for you to be giving Daiwen that earring, Zevran.
Is that bird in the rafters meant to be a raven? A large-beaked, melanistic sparrow? An especially svelte kiwi?
Loghain has now been recruited. Oh, my heart. Oh, Alistair, I’m sorry. I am never doing this again.
I’m not sure how well I can justify it with this character, but fuck it, it’s done now. We’ll just say Daiwen has grown patient enough that the temptation of shoving Loghain in the path of some darkspawn for proper poetic justice became stronger than that to simply kill him like he would’ve a few months ago.
I am, as it happens, a sentimental old fuck with an overfull inventory, so I was half tempted to let Alistair keep Cailan’s armor as payment for being so mean to him, but...nah. Maybe Daiwen will wear it in Awakening and pass along the Juggernaut armor to Justice or something, I don’t know.
Welp. Dark Ritual time. Yep, I still hate this.
The point of recruiting Loghain was always to push him onto the grenade. It’s just a very differently shaped grenade now. Much more...curvaceous. (For me the player, half the reason I made Daiwen was to play through Awakening with him, so he can’t die, and the reason I wanted to try out recruiting Loghain was to see him as the Warden ally in II and Inquisition, so he can’t die either. So, Dark Ritual it is.)
It’s certainly not sparing Loghain’s life Daiwen cares about—he wants the extra insurance for his own. And Riordan’s, he supposes. He seems nice, and keeping one of the Wardens’ elders around can only be a good thing.
You know, as much as I loathe absolutely everything about the Dark Ritual, I have to give a special mention to the fact that the sex scene uses the same music as the ones from the romances. NO. GAME. YOU DO NOT GET TO DRAW PARALLELS BETWEEN THE ROMANCES AND THIS RAPEY-ASS BULLSHIT. STOP IT. NOW.
Whoa, when did it get to be after midnight? I guess I’ll continue the process of ripping my own heart out and stomping on it tomorrow.

Pretty Rhythm: My☆Deco Rainbow Wedding Chapter 17+18 English Translation
(Tumblr's new text editor doesn't support moving images so I'll leave this up here)
Tumblr media
Chapter 17: A Pop Test with a Testy Rhythm
Mia: You’re soooo lucky you got to face up against Serenon! I love their manzai~! You keep piling up experience, huh? Though, I was wondering… have you seen Rinne at all since that fashion show? She didn’t even enter the Gold Spiral Cup. I’ve seen her on TV, in magazines and in movies, but I can’t get her sad expression out of my mind… Whenever we come close to learning about Rinne’s secret, we end up back at square one!! What we know right now is… Rinne wants the Rainbow Wedding, and she’s forgotten something. But the thing I’m most concerned with is how she always looks really sad. She’s your rival in terms of getting the Rainbow Wedding, but she’s also a fellow idol. We can’t just leave her alone… And she looks her happiest when she gets to watch your shows, or when she gets to talk to you, Player. Maybe you’re not the only one who wants to save Rinne from her sorrowful heart!? ...Is what I want to say, but I still have no idea what I can do! It’s really pissing me off!!!
??? (Rizumu): Morni~ng!
Mia: Ahh!! Who’s there!? What kind of idiot goes around hugging people from behind!?
Rizumu: Ta-dah! It’s Rizumu!
Mia: Wha- Rizumu-san!! You scared the hell out of me!!
Rizumu: Sorry, sorry. You looked like your were having a bummer of a convo so I wanted to lighten the mood a bit! Ahahaha! Ooh? No way, are you Player? I totally know about you! Aira and Mion, hell even Serenon have told me all about you. You’re collecting the power of the seven coords to complete the Raingowdam…
Mia: It’s called the Rainbow Charm, Rizumu-san!
Rizumu: Yeah, that’s it! Ahaha, must’ve gotten a bit mixed up there!
Mia: Jeez… and people say that I should be a funny guy… I’m the straight man compared to Rizumu.
Rizumu: Aw, c’mon! Keep complimenting me and I’ll get flustered! Ahaha!
Mia: It wasn’t a compliment!!
Rizumu: Anyway, I was thinking of helping you get the power of the seven coords… Aira helped you before, right? By giving you a Coord Rank Test?
Mia: Oh, that makes sense! Rizumu’s a member of MARs too, so she can give these tests too! But… Rizumu’s sense of style is, uh… unique. Honestly… it’s a bit… weird…… Y’know, she wore a pumpkin mask, and she centred a coord around radish sprouts. What’ll you do? Are you really going to trust Rizumu enough to take her Coord Rank Test?
Choice: Of course! / I’m… a bit scared…
Mia: What do we do!? I wouldn’t even be able to look at you in whatever weird outfit you’d be forced to wear!
Rizumu: What are you two whispering about? We’re starting the Coord Rank Test now, hurry up!!
Mia: No!! Player’s being taken away! Well, looks like you can’t escape anymore, Player! Good luck!
Rizumu: I’m testing your pop coord rank! Bring me 10 pop My☆Deco stones! Once you do that, we’ll compete in a prism show! This test has a special edition prism show! We’ll be competing in an all-dance prism show. All-dance mode doesn’t have any jumps, so as the name suggests it’s a prism show that’s always in dance mode! Doesn’t it sound fun?? Just letting you know, my dancing skills are unbeatable! So, will we start the test? My spirit is fully charged!
(prism show. Also zenbu dance mode is the best mode, i hate doing prism jumps lmao)
Rizumu: Oka~y! That was such a poppy show~! Congrats, you’ve passed the pop Coord Rank Test!
Mia: Ah!! The Rainbow Charm…
(5 slots filled, 2 left)
Mia: The power of the pop coord returned to the Rainbow Charm!
Rizumu: I’m glad I could help. How was all-dance mode? Shows without jumps are good too once in a while! It’s perfect for when you just want to dance your heart out!
Mia: Thank you, Rizumu-san! This is great, Player! We only have… feminine and star left. It feels like we’re really close to finishing the Rainbow Charm! Though… does being close to getting the Rainbow Wedding also mean you’ll have to face off against Rinne? If only we could just get it over and done with!
Rizumu: Whenever you talk about this Rinne girl, you seem pretty testy, huh? Is Rinne your friend, Player? …...Looks like you can’t answer. But you’re interested in her? I’m sure you’ll eventually be able to become friends with her, since she makes you feel that way. I’ve been through a lot with Aira and Mion, too. We’ve fought a lot, but in the end our fights brought us all closer together, and gave us a deeper understanding of each other. And now we’re the best of friends!
Mia: But how do we become friends with Rinne…? It’s pretty hard to befriend someone you know nothing about…
Rizumu: It’ll be fine! We have prism shows after all, right? MARs became close through prism shows, we formed our bonds on the path to the Aurora Rising. You’re bonded to Rinne because you’re both after the Rainbow Wedding. Believe in your heart and work hard! I’ll definitely be cheering you on, Player!
Chapter 18: Aurora Wings
Mia: Rizumu has a really good point! Her advice has a way of worming itself into your heart! 'Bonds that form through prism shows’, huh~
Rizumu: Player and Rinne will definitely end up as close friends.
Aira: Rizumu-chaaan!
Mia: Grrr…!! That voice must be… Harune Aira!
Mion: Mion’s here too, you know.
Penguin-sensei: Me too!
Mia: Gah! Mion-san! ...and Penguin-sensei…
Mion: What do you mean by ‘gah’!?
Mia: Yikes. I feel another test coming~
Penguin-sensei: We won’t be giving you another Coord Rank Test. MARs have gathered here for something else… They have a special lesson for you, Player!
Mia: What kinda special lesson?
Penguin-sensei: The rainbow is not the only light that shines in the sky.
Mion: We want you and Rinne to create another light… MARs will tell you all about the light of the aurora!
Mia: The light of the aurora!? Wait, you can’t mean…
Aira: You’ve worked hard on lessons and prism shows up until now, Player. Your current self can definitely pull off the Aurora Rising!
Mia: You want Player to perform the legendary jump, Aurora Rising!?
Mion: It will be fine. We’ll all help out.
Aira: Wear the Gold Spiral Dress, and you’ll be able to perform the Aurora Rising! The light of the aurora is the light of dreams that brings the world together.
Rizumu: The colours of the aurora will give your heart power too. They’ll become the key to opening up Rinne’s sorrowful heart! Like, ‘that is it, the Aurora Rising!’ So, will you show the new light of the Aurora Rising to Rinne?
Choice: I want to show her / Can I really do it?
Mion: Nice prism! Your straightforward heart will definitely allow aurora wings to form.
Rizumu: It may seem impossible at first, but you still have to try! It’s better to try and fail than to not try at all! I’ll make a wish for the Aurora Rising to link Rinne and Player’s hearts!
Mion: It seems that Rinne is currently in Sweets Café. Let’s go there at once.
Rizumu: Whoop! Let’s goooo~!!
(they go to the sweets cafe)
Mia: We’ve finally arrived, but is Rinne still even here?
Rinne: Player……
Mia: Rinne!?!?
Rinne: ………
Aira: Aw, don’t look so sad! We came here today to give you a present, Rinne.
Rinne: A present……?
Aira: A very happylucky present from Player to you!
Rinne: Happylucky…… for me?
Mion: Now, Player! It’s time!!!! Wear this dress!!!! And fly!! With aurora wings!!!!
(prism show)
Rinne: Amazing…… Amazing……. The aurora’s light… was beautiful…… It was shining in all the colours of the rainbow. It was as if a curtain was drawn over the night sky.
Aira: That was the light of Player-chan’s heart, Rinne-chan.
Rinne: The light of Player’s heart…
Mion: A girl’s heart is a prism, you know.
Mia: It is! When we experience lots of happy or sad moments, when we cry or laugh… our hearts spin round and round, changing colours and creating shining bright!! That’s why they’re so beautiful…
Rinne: But I… don’t know my true self. I’m empty…
Aira: It’s alright.
Rinne: Huh…?
Aira: Player-chan’s heart is overflowing with light.
Mia: Player could definitely My☆Deco your heart, Rinne.
Rizumu: That’s right! After all, you looked so happy during Player’s show! If you cry together and laugh together, if you have lots of experiences together… you’ll be able to see hearts with many more colours of light!
Mion: Split the happy times in half. Split the sad times in half, too… That’s what friendship is.
Rinne: Friendship… Player and I…
Aira: Now, join hands! Together with Rinne-chan!!!!
Rinne: Aurora…… RISING!!!!
(white flash)
Mia: The light of Rinne’s heart mixed with Player’s… is shining in the sky!
Rinne: Player… I… don’t know my true self. Where did I come from? What do I want to do? I don’t know that, either… Even so… Will you be my friend? ………...Thank you. Your heart is so warm. I want to make my heart shine like yours… no, I will make it shine!!!!
(white flash, and… refer to the image above)
Rinne: ……
Mia: Ah! Rinne’s coord… changed again!
Rinne: What is this…?
Penguin-sensei: H… How is this possible!? That’s the Seventh Coord Star Dress! How on earth…!?
Aira: What a happylucky coord… Your clothes are so happy they seem like they’re shining.
Mion: The shining white light of a star. That’s the colour of Rinne’s heart!
Rinne: I’m not lost anymore, Player. My seven-hued heart, not being able to remember anything… Everything…
Aira: The power of on of the seven coords, star, seems to have returned to Rinne-chan.
Mion: In order to complete the Rainbow Charm, you’ll need Rinne’s star power. Completing the Rainbow Charm and getting the Rainbow Wedding… Who will do it? Rinne… or Player? I won’t be able to look away from you too until one of you wins.
Rizumu: But, but! There’s an important tournament to think about before the Rainbow Cup! The last Spiral Cup, the Platinum Spiral Cup. If you put your passion towards reaching the Rainbow Cup, there’s no way you’ll lose!
Rinne: Player, here…
(meganee screaming about the deco parts rinne just gave us)
Mia: Hm, what’s this? A My☆Deco frame?
Rinne: It’s to thank you for today, Player… For My☆Deco-ing my heart. I know you’ll be abel to make a wonderfully lovely or cool coord…
Mia: Then it’s the frame of friendship! With this, you’ll be able to win the Platinum Spiral Cup like kaboom!!
Rinne: Thank you, Player. For… becoming friends with me. I’ll look forward to the Rainbow Cup.

How the Capitals' second-period goal taught the Flames a lesson in puck-watching
A video breakdown of even-strength wizardry.
For a few seconds on Tuesday, the hottest team in the NHL looked woefully over-matched in Washington, D.C.
While Sidney Crosby left jaws hanging in Buffalo for three periods, Alex Ovechkin and his counterparts left mouths agape for a brief moment. But what a moment!
I bet the Flames would like to forget it. But it’s a nice teaching moment. Calgary got carved up on T.J. Oshie’s second period goal so thoroughly, so quickly, that we had to break it down in video form.
The result? A lesson in puck-watching. As in: don’t do it.
The Play
youtube
Hey look, it’s the first 30-goal season for T.J. Oshie. What a guy. What a wealthy guy. (That sentence is from the offseason future.)
So at first glance, that’s a beautiful play. Pretty tempting to just leave it at that and lavish praise on the silky-smooth Capitals. I’m sure the Flames would prefer that.
But that’s easy. Let’s shine floodlights on the Flames’ defending here.
This is not a penalty kill
I know it seems like one, but it isn’t. The reason it does? The Flames are so not aggressive. I don’t know why. But they just sit back and wait for the Capitals to carve them up.
It also feels like a Capitals power play because every player is set up in their usual spot: Nicklas Backstrom (with the puck) is at the half-wall. Ovechkin is waiting for a one-timer at the circle. There’s a point man at the blue line and two players heading for the net.
This is typical Capitals power play stuff. But since this is EVEN-STRENGTH, Flames, Backstrom has less options to work with and more Calgary sticks to avoid.
From right here, he could:
Toss a puck to the net and hope for a miracle rebound as Oshie crashes the crease
Try to hit his teammate in the slot, but risk a turnover and an odd-man rush the other way
Pass back to the point and re-set the whole thing
He does none of these things.
Change your perspective
He moves.
And now the playing field is much differe—
[slams hand on Ovi slap shot alarm]
Sorry, forgot to turn that off.
Yes, Ovechkin is Backstrom’s target here. But there’s a reason why A) Ovechkin becomes available and B) Oshie ends up scoring.
We now turn to the Flames.
I JUST DISCOVERED THE MAGNIFYING TOOL
This dude. (Names have been omitted to protect dignity.) (Also, I can’t find my glasses.)
He’s the only thing stopping Backstrom from completing his pass to Ovechkin. If I hopped into his brainhead right now, he’s probably dying to intercept a pass and take it the other way for a 2-on-1 chance. He can sense it.
What he can’t sense, though, is Ovechkin’s location. Flames Man is floating up in anticipation. Ovechkin already floated down to await Backstrom’s pass when the lane clears up.
Boom.
Hey look, the whole zone changed again. Why are there four Flames high and two Capitals all alone down low?
‘Cuz they done messed up, y’all
What we have here is a textbook case of puck-watching. Teams usually fall into this trap when they’re on the penalty kill, transfixed by the high odds of a goal against.
Let’s track their vision spheres across the play.
Backstrom gets the puck ...
Backstrom moves the puck ...
... whoops. To Mikael Backlund’s fleeting credit, he does seem to recognize that Oshie is slipping behind him toward the crease.
And yet ...
Dagger.
No time to re-adjust
Normally, every one of the Flames would over-react and try to prepare for an Ovechkin slap-shot. But there wasn’t even enough time to do that. The puck was on Ovechkin’s stick for half a second before it hurtled to Oshie and into the net.
I suppose that’s why the Capitals are so deadly. Too many weapons. Too many threats to register in the offensive zone at any given point. Give them time to set up, and opponents will fall into observer mode as Washington carves them up.
Even when you know what each of them will do (Backstrom will look to pass, Ovechkin will wait for a slap-shot), that knowledge can keep you thinking. Your feet stop moving, your eyes lock onto the puck and before you know it, the Capitals have made you look like you’re two defenders short at even-strength.
It’s a unique group in Washington. Whether they can keep these tricks up in the playoffs has yet to be seen.
