Okay listen, I just need to talk rant about these two memes (pics?) That have been rotting in my camera roll for a sec because I'm bored and waiting for my flight

Not to be posting about UK politics again (I promise not to make a habit of it) but for those not following what's going on (can't blame you) we're currently in the middle of a leadership race for the new Prime Minister between Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak. Both candidates are desperately trying to be the most Thatcher-like, evil person to appeal to Tory members, and the newest move by Sunak is to attack the Equality Act.

And suddenly TERFs are all up in arms being like 'oh no, dont do that! You just need to target trans people, not all of us!' like... what did you fucking expect?!?!?!

You teamed up with the anti-women, anti-LGBT, anti-disabled, islamophobic, antisemitic, white supremacist party, and you're surprised when they roll back everyone's rights?

The same people who put a blanket do-not-resuscitate order on disabled people during the pandemic? The same people who have removed the right to protest after the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests? The same people who drown refugees in the Channel? You thought they had your back, just because you helped with their 'divide and conquer' strategy among LGBT people and cis and trans women?

Forgive me for showing my fangs a little here instead of being as delicate in phrasing as I usually am, but. Periodic reminder:

sweeping "humans suck, humans are evil, the world would be better off if humans disappeared/had never evolved" statements may be cathartic but they're thoroughly inaccurate (ie, the vast majority of uniquely bad effects of humans on the planet are a) extremely recent, like within the last couple centuries, b) the fault of an extremely small minority not the entire fucking species, and c) fixable)

hating being human isn't the same as hating humans. I get species dysphoria is a thing. I get that it's often hard to fit in as a nonhuman in human social groups and that can make it easy to slip into hating everyone around you. Please fight that instinct

villainizing people for traits they didn't choose, such as the species they were born into, is neither cute nor fair. No species is inherently good or bad

misanthropy is cathartic in short term vents or whatever but genuinely embracing it wholesale as a philosophy is liable to lead to you hating humans, human society, and being in a human body more and more over time and thus make your life worse by constantly reinforcing a thought pattern that makes you angry and upset

you are not immune to being part of human society (translation: just because you're nonhuman doesn't mean you're not included in statements about the effects of the human population on the world, ie "humans are killing the planet")

related, you are not better than humans for being nonhuman. looking at my fellow dragons in particular on this one. I get it, draconic pride is a thing, dragon brain probably says you're the supreme being and all else is beneath you especially anyone who annoys you. Mine does too. Please recognize that is an instinct you are supposed to FIGHT, not something that's TRUE AND THAT YOU SHOULD EMBRACE. Good fucking gods.

some nonhumans are also human (it's me, I'm some nonhumans) and you are making sweeping "humans suck, why would I ever want to be human, all humans do is kill the planet" statements in the presence of people included in those statements, which is insanely rude (and no, you don't get to "but you're different because you're nonhuman" me! you do not get to decide to ignore half of who I am because you don't like it, you do not get to decide I'm not "really" human, and also see the previous bullet point). this goes doubly if you're in a space like a DIscord server where people have expressly stated they're not comfortable being tacitly included in statements like that

saying "but I don't REALLY mean all humans, I just mean the specific ones at fault!" after the fact does not actually change anything if every other thing you say is constantly "humans humans humans" and not the group you're actually referring to, or at the very least doesn't change how it reads to everyone around you

idk the worst thing about tumblr (or just social media in general . I've just only used tumblr) is that your funny text posts that randomly popped into your head will get SIGNIFICANTLY more interaction than anything that you create whether it's illustration or writing or anything else it will always be like that and it doesn't make sense to me because it takes the same amount of effort to look at a funny post and reblog/share it as it does to look at any form of art that you like and reblog/share it . my top text post has over 1,000 notes and my top art post has a little over 100 because it was fanart for a blogger with a high following and that always fucks me up . Every single time I post art it'll get a few notes here and there but my text posts always get more . Always . There's even a better reblog/like ratio . literally what the fuck . Why is it worth it to reblog something funny but not something that took hours upon hours of effort and dedication. "Art is subjective ‼️>:[" so is humor . What's your point . at the moment, and for the foreseeable future i am saying no. just because there are copies of ahb! circulating around SEVERAL websites and vendors being sold for oodles and oodles of dollars. despite my requests for the sellers to stop.

i have had people (etsy vendors) in the past lie to me and say they've made "too many personal handbound copies and are only selling those extra ones" which ,,, was obviously a lie. also they were getting the copies through lulu and selling them just btw.

i have also had people tell me that they are binding them and selling them to others for personal use but not making profit off of them even though they're selling art heist for over $100 a book. so. yeah. another lie

so, sorry! but yeah!! there's not much i can do about people actually listening to me and respecting my wishes etc etc and lord knows they don't, but i would super appreciate it if we kept ahb! an ao3 exclusive for now!

it just makes me feel slightly better to put more rules and boundaries in place! though it's never stopped people in this fandom from bulldozing right through those anyway :/

really wish my one friend would quit flirting with me. and trying to goad me into hanging out more. and assigning us fictional characters that are oh-so-coincidently either couples or with romantic tension. and then interrupting our gameplay to ask me repeatedly if I think they’re “like us” (which they rarely are…). and matching my icon on discord without asking (again, usually by insinuating a couple connection). and giving me random things I do not want and did not ask to receive (and then forcing me to take them???).

Bringing this to Tumblr cuz I keep seeing people talk about it on Twitter but I'm not making a fucking thread right now.

Anyways, personally I just think it's a little weird how suddenly a bunch of the non English/poc qsmp members are under scrutiny for doing horrible things, to the point of people literally calling for their removal from the server, yet I have not seen a single person give any legit sources to prove these claims. Plus the accusations are never specific it's always "I think they maybe did [insert vague action] thing that's really bad" or "I've heard they did something horrible and they need to loose their platform.

Literally anytime I've seen someone ask what happened the replies have been VERBATIM, "several members have been found to be racist/homophobic/antisemitic/transphobic in the past." Like y'all can't even decide what you're even accusing them of might as well just chuck in every horrible label you know! I'm surprised misogyny isn't in there? Oh wait! That's right! These same people people are also calling for the only women on the server to be removed for things that are literally fucking harmless such as, attending the wedding of a person some people don't like, or, explaining their home country has flaws. So I guess accusing OTHER people of being sexist would be hypocritical of them.

Like no damn wonder Quackity hasn't addressed anything you guys cant even decide what needs to be addressed in the first place, just that everyone that's from a different culture than you (and sometimes even people from the same culture the way I've seen people talk about Bad and Jaiden is actually sickening) is somehow a horrific individual who is terribly bigoted. I've been watching this server almost every day for hours on end since it launched and I haven't seen anything from anyone that can't be quickly summed up to be a cultural difference or small misunderstanding that people are blowing out of the water. Like, if someone legit did something bad then it deff needs to be addressed, but that's if that thing happened less than a year ago, (especially not if it's from when they were A CHILD. Like people are trying to cancel Roier for shit he said when he was 13! 13! I'm the same age as him and I can promise that if you took shit I said from literally the same timeframe it wouldn't be pretty either!) If they haven't already apologized for it and moved on with their lives, or if it is something that is legitimately hurting people and not just something you find personally distasteful.

The qsmp is really fucking cool and it's clear that the creators involved have a lot of respect for each other so it's so disappointing that some of the fans don't have the same amount of respect. It's incredibly shameful and it makes me feel horrible just to be associated with some of these people. The whole point of this server is to break barriers and to make friends across cultures where there wouldn't have been an opportunity beforehand, and so many people are instead trying to sabotage that.

Especially from the English speaking community. We have the privilege of being an incredibly diverse and culturally complicated community (which isn't to say other communities aren't I think that ours just is especially here is the USA), and while the exposure of more cultures leads to more misunderstandings and unfortunately more straight up bigotry, we still have more exposure to diverse groups then other people do. If anyone should be understanding and welcoming it should be us! But some of you people are out here acting like fools. Once again, if someone legit did something bad, they do need to be held accountable for their actions. But way to many of you confuse being held accountable with having their entire lives upended. You also confuse "did a bad thing they need to take responsibility for." With, "they did this thing out of a lack of understanding and have since apologized, learned better, and moved on, but I'm still gonna bring it up again and hurt everyone involved because I think that making a mistake is grounds for being publicly ridiculed!" If there was something bad going on, and if people had legit proof that it IS INFACT happening because said person is a bigot and not just misguided, then I'll be behind it 100%, but after watching this dance over and over again I can't help but feel that instead of people actually being concerned that horrible people are in places of power, they're instead making up horrible accusations about normal people that are just trying to do their jobs. It really feels like there isn't an effort to actually understand where other people are coming from and instead to judge them and make them conform to your definition of socially appropriate, it's not fucking cool.

Us English speakers as a community should be holding ourselves to a higher standard because this type of behavior doesn't just make one person look bad, it paints a bad name for all of us. And please for the love of God dont immediately believe every fucking rumour you hear, and especially don't believe it if you can't find any evidence, and ESPECIALLY don't go and harass the person the rumors about! Like, I don't even know if some of the examples I used here are legit cuz I haven't seen sources/ cant find any for them, but even if they did have sources they would be total bullshit accusations anyways! Think for once instead of jumping on some hate train with all the other brainless idiots out there holy fuck.
