#also wondering how many of you are only siblings because I'm pretty sure the first place I learnt to throw a punch was at home #I also got in a lot of physical fights because I took no shit with homophobic bullying and cat calling #but but. both football and capoeira in my neighbourhood were important to me growing up because it gave me the knowledge that I could in #fact beat up a man because physical strength isn't the only thing at play #and I do think the fact most boys grow up having very physical games while girls don't plays a huge factor in women being conditioning to #not react #genuinely think the most important thing when you're in a real fight. is how many real fights you've been on before #a lot of men are very weak for pain. you can beat them in endurance. like I understand there's disadvantage but I hate the DOOMY way some #women talk about men being larger/stronger as someone who's successfully fought off many situations #but this is also why I hate most self defense. like regularly practicing martial arts does help. but a 10 hours course will not kick in a #desperate situation where you need muscle memory. my best advice is if you don't know how to throw a punch just DON'T you can do more with #your elbows or slapping. just. a lot of fights it's being willing to let the desperation kick in and go for the throat yk #honestly I KNOW how to throw a punch and even I tend to go for elbows because I'm 160cm and not that strong lol #anyways my worst opinion as someone who works with teens is that I think sometimes we should let kids solve some problems with their hands #will always pretend I don't see gay students or women who get harassed throwing punches #some of you truly should've caused more chaos in your school years #also it's really sad that women were banned from capoeira for a long time some 'tradicionalists' still complain #it's all about being nimble and smarter in order to beat an opponent you ASSUME it's stronger than you. it just feels great #gave me a lot of confidence when I really needed ot

Just a thought about my theater education but I feel like it might have been irresponsible to have a bunch of teenagers do intense method acting drills and use our personal (sometimes traumatizing) memories to draw on for characters instead of having us imagine hypotheticals? Even if there was more than the like 3% chance someone in that class would end up as an adult with a hobby or career in acting that involves character work that deep, that was kinda fucked up actually??

#i saw someone talking about how traumatizing the methods were of the acting theorists currently considered masters #like Meisner and Stanislavsky #and had a big Oh! moment about it #like i already knew those classes made a deep impact on my psyche and dissociation but its something else #to see someone talking about how traumatizing that shit is for adults who are already pro actors!! #some of the emotional and sometimes even physical trauma theater students go through reminds me of high school football in a certain way #all this damage to train people for a lifestyle only a small percentage of them will even PURSUE as adults let alone succeed at

I wish you could all understand italian because there is a site here who did an incredible long ass written piece on hakim at the end of june and it is so beautiful? Like I'm baffled, I was only reading it now. Who did it. Obviously it was written before the deal to saudi collapsed. And I don't agree with some of the tragic tones here (they say he did nothing more than a normal WC and I think that's not fair, i understand they meant in regards to what he showed at ajax, but he had a different role, and it was a pivotal role) but I thought it was cool how they summed up his talents and qualities and the pure joy of watching him play and tried to understand the whys on the last 3 year at chelsea and put reasonable thoughts into it. I think it's cool they articulated the fact you know, sometimes clubs buy players and really don't know what to do with them.

today's taxi driver was weird? I told him the following right road? and when I got in he was like (do you play football? bc of how you said the road instructions)

I was (???) but said (not me but my brother plays) and he goes (where does he play?) and I say smth like only recreational playing and he goes (I used to be almost pro football player, my kids play and teach at this club and that club, my father used to play professionally too)

so far so good random small talk but then this is where the weirdness starts, the taxi driver goes (I like active people, much like you. people [and later on I realise he means women] should be active because they are going to be raising the next generation. I don't like when people are legatheric. you [meaning me] should be active for your future kid you bring to the world)
