Pocky Game? (have you ever heard of the...)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dazai Osamu/Reader (oneshot)
Cws: gn! reader (he calls you "Belladonna" and "Beautiful" but gender is not explicitly stated), ada dazai, flirting, (one) mention of suicide because it's Dazai, mutual pining because I'm such a sucker for it, office love, pocky game, dazai osamu needs a hug, dazai being a (loveable) piece of work
About 1.5k words
Summary: Dazai and Reader play the pocky game in the office of the Armed Detective Agency.
A/n: In case anyone gets confused, the song reference is to I Want It That Way by Backstreet Boys. I can't believe I actually kept that joke in there. Anyways, I've never written for this trope before and I wanted to try, so I ended up with this!
Tumblr media
He’s such a goddamn tease.
Always has been.
With those big brown eyes, so deep yet so sharp. Like some cruel joke, the longer you stare the more difficult it gets to look away.
He knows the way your knees go weak when he brushes his hand along your spine. He knows you nearly can’t stand it when he drops his voice an octave and utters words far too close to your ear for you to comprehend the actual meaning of. Those coffee-colored eyes observe every detail of your reaction, then file it all away in that bewildering mind for god knows what reason.
So how, you wonder, did you ever end up with those eyes mere centimeters away from your own, the glint in them paired with a mischievous curl of his lips?
-
“Y/n-san!~” an all too familiar voice bursts through the office door. The tall man takes long strides up to meet you, sitting down with a plop in his office chair right across from yours. He wheels it out to the side, you hear something shuffling as he slips it into his pocket.
Kunikida would’ve condemned you for the stoicism you displayed. Finally, when Dazai bumps his seat into yours, you turn to look at him with a long, unfazed sigh.
“Dazai, I wanted to stay alone in the office during lunch so I could finish up a report, remember?” you remind him, hands still hovering over the keys of your computer.
“Let’s play a game,” he suggests, equally unfazed as he stares at you with a grin.
“The answer is no,” you turn back to your screen, just barely missing the start of a pout on his lips.
“But why?” he leans forward.
“No.”
“Y/n-san!”
“Dazai,” your tone is hard.
“Tell me why,” he insists, blinking those stupid brown eyes up at you like some kind of lost puppy.
“I need to finish this because someone didn’t complete their half of the report for the field job we did yesterday,” you remind him sternly.
He pauses for a moment before, very quietly, ever so softly, you hear, “Ain’t nothing but a heartache~”
“Oh,” you loudly scoff, “I think I’m actually going to kill you.”
Dazai’s mouth quirks into a grin.
“Ain’t nothing but a mistake,” he continues, that stupidly charming smile growing on his lips.
“Dazai,” you shove his shoulder, not being able to help the chuckle that slips from your throat.
“And I never wanna hear you say,” the brunette theatrically sings into an invisible microphone before holding it out to you. You make eye contact and a sigh leaves your lips.
“...That I want it that way,” you finish sheepishly. Dazai didn’t miss the faint dusting of pink on your cheeks.
“Ah~” he falls against the back of his chair with a dreamy sigh and a clenched hand over his chest, “my Belladonna is so talented.”
You almost blushed at the nickname.
He’s just a flirt, you’ve heard him use that same term with countless others, you remind yourself.
“Yeah yeah,” you reply. Dazai watches as you lean back in your chair again and cross your arms, but you don’t turn back to your desk.
“I promise the game won’t take long,” he adds, and you let out a sigh.
“Fine, one round,”  you hold up a finger and Dazai grins.
He hums, “Whatever you say, Beautiful,” pushing his chair forward so that the two of you are face to face. Your knees touch and he rests on his elbows. If you both leaned forward just a little more you’d probably-
Anyway.
“I’m sure it won’t last long, I’ll probably beat you without even breaking a sweat,” the detective says comfortably.
“As if,” you let out a huff; he has to restrain himself from cooing at the face you make when he gets under your skin.
“Is that a challenge?” he replies with a raised eyebrow, “You want to win?”
“Against you? Any day,” you make sharp eye contact and Dazai forces himself to ignore the stir in his chest.
“Alright then,~” his voice is smooth, his long fingers sliding the box out of his pocket. “Y/n-san, have you ever heard of the pocky game?” Dazai holds the pink box up next to his face, tilts his head to the side, and your heart nearly stops.
“I- what?” your eyes widen. You can feel blood rush to your cheeks. “You want to play the pocky game… with me?”
“That is what I’m suggesting,” he gives you a close-eyed smile.
“Well, I mean,” you trail off, wanting to curse the softness in your tone.
“Are you not up for it?” he says sadly, “Bella, you promised me at least one round, remember?” This man is going to hell.
“Okay,” you sigh, hoping your nervousness doesn’t bleed through your expression, “Just one round.”
“Of course, one round is all I need.”
Dazai opens the package and takes a singular strawberry-coated stick out. He holds it like a cigarette between two fingers, you internally roll your eyes when he gives himself the frosted end.
“Ready?” there’s a glint in his eyes as he hovers the pocky between your faces.
“Why wouldn’t I be?” you reply, clenching your hands together in your lap.
Dazai lets out a chuckle but says nothing more.
In the next moment, both of your lips are on the pocky, a mere sixteen centimeters apart.
You make eye contact and Dazai keeps his gaze steady but is unable to help the way his pupils dilate at the closeness. You notice, but shake it off. Probably just a refocus due to proximity. I wonder if my eyes did the same thing.
You stare back, and with a non-verbal affirmation, the nibbing starts.
It’s dead quiet in the office, you glance at the clock and exhale in relief when you see that there are still fourteen minutes left in lunch. If anyone were to walk in, you think you might actually jump out the window.
How did it even come to this? You wonder. The brunette’s persuasive powers would never cease to amaze you. You could never tell if it was his grin, demeanor, the way he walked, or the look in his eyes that got to you. Maybe it was everything.
On the flip side, Dazai could talk for hours about everything about you. He’d always found you charming, ever since you started working at the agency. He flirted, gave you sweet nicknames, held your hand delicately as he asked you to partake in a double suicide with him. Most others would lose patience after a while and resort to giving him the cold shoulder; disregard him, not that he expected any less. You, on the other hand, for some incomprehensible reason, never stopped looking at him like he might be worth something. You treated his wounds after a rough mission, told him to get home safely, covered for him when he wanted to nap, you even took him to a spicy curry place for his birthday knowing it was his favorite. He found himself craving the warmth you showed, any attention at all. He began to observe. He watched your reactions, tried to press your buttons, everything he could think of that would usually drive people away. Why you seemingly haven’t given up on him yet is something he cannot grasp, but hopes to one day understand.
Such a man so capable of love yet tainted by the world to walk the tightrope between life and death.
Eyes like two pools, drowning you, endlessly deep, slowly inching closer and closer. You can feel his breath fanning over your lips, and goosebumps rise on the back of your neck.
You’re struggling to balance the pocky between your lips now, each of your actions minuscule and calculated. A little bit closer. What if we actually meet in the middle? Almost there. Do I want this? Barely an inch left. Does he want this too?
The pocky snaps, and in the next moment, you’re left with part of the treat sticking out of your mouth while Dazai pulls back and swallows his half. The ghost of a smile resides in his eyes, you stare for a moment before finishing your half and sputtering out a sentence.
“W-what was that Dazai?” you question, embarrassment burning on your cheeks. “I thought… I…”  you slowly go silent, barely having the nerve to stare at him as he rises and leads his chair back around to his own desk.
“Pulling away is an automatic loss,” he replies with a complacent smile, hands resting in his pockets, “I thought you wanted to win, no?”
You sit there, nothing but dumbfounded as the detective saunters his way out of the office space. “Enjoy finishing your report Belladonna!~” he calls, casting you a glance over his shoulder before the office door shuts behind him.
You glance at the box of strawberry pocky left on your desk.
Such a goddamn tease.

i DO think laios is "autism creature" autistic. I think he's actually a great example of that. Most of the time i see the autism creature associated with special interests and hyperfixations and there's no way you could argue that's not a trait he has, it's a major plotnpoint that drives the story forward along with his other motivation. Something I also see a lot is the austism creature being used as an example of cluelessness, because of its expression. How are you gonna point to his social awkwardness, the fact that he's literally completely clueless about making people uncomfortable unless it's explicitly stated to him, and say he doesn't fit that description. I'n not sure what "tumblr" autism is supposed to mean, the person was probably talking about the more palatable traits people discuss more openly, but do you really think people aren't socially awkward in this webbed site?
i saw a rlly good post reacting to someone else's rotten take, unfortunately at the time i was too tired to read the full post and i ended up losing it, so i don't remember what all it said but basically the rotten take was calling laios creepy (in a "funny haha way" to disguise it) due to his traits, and op of the post i saw was explaining how that's fucked up. I think from what I skimmed it was very personal, comparing their own experiences to laios and honestly that might be my favorite thing about him. He doesn't just have the "palatable" traits that people are comfortable seeing. He is clueless, he had no idea someone disliked him, he even thought they were close friends, because that person never let him know when he was crossing a boundary until it was too much. Soon after this almost the opposite happens, where he doesn't believe someone else wants to be his friend, because now he's aware that he can't pick up on social cues, and he also knows he caused this person discomfort before, so why would they want to be his friend? He's "messy" in that he has a lot of traits people like to avoid when talking about autism, because it's stuff neurotypicals don't like.
He's literally that kid who people would be like "oh well if i knew he was autistic i wouldn't have treated him badly" (which is stupid, you should treat people well in general and not be an asshole then apologize because someone is actually neurodivergent or mentally ill). And guess what? He has friends who love him. They know he's awkward and clueless and has "weird" interests and they still love him. He has people who will stand up for him even after coming to the conclusion that he's "a little creepy" because they know he's a good person, and they like his honesty. Someone explicitly admits they envy his ability to be so openly himself, even after that same person tried to frame that trait as a bad thing, because they realized what they hated wasn't laios honesty but the fact that laios is able to act that way, while most people feel trapped by social rules and don't have that same freedom to be themselves. Laios can be himself not because society accepts him, in fact the first assumption when the elves learn he likes monsters is that he must be prone to evil. Because that's weird and creepy. Society does not accept him. His friends do. His sister does, she loves him and looks up to him as an adult as much as she did as a child. He has a support system. He is loved. Even people who don't necssarily love him know he could never become evil, even if they also think his special interest is a bit creepy. Because they know laios, actually know him, and they know that in his awkwardness he's still a kind person. He misses a lot of social cues, sometimes he says things that are tone deaf without realizing at all, and his friends know he means no harm. He just struggles with these things.
I think laios is a very good example of how nobody is unlovable, regardless of how awkward or clueless you might be, even if your special interest is something perceived as creepy. To me Laios is a reminder for anyone who needs to hear it that you are deserving of love too. Maybe you just beed to find a better support system, and that might take a while, but there's people who will love you the way you are, and accept you the way you are

A question I’ve had on my mind for a long time BPP: do you remember how Jungkook said the J on his ring finger stands for Jungkook? What do you think of that? He could’ve chosen not to answer that question but he answered it and said it means Jungkook. I’m as strong a jikooker as anyone but it made me wonder about the JM theory. Sorry if this is not in line with your blog themes, it’s OK if you ignore this ask, I just love your perspective on things and wanted to know what you think. Thanks BPP.
***
Hi Anon,
I'm pretty sure my opinion about this is unpopular lol, both with jikookers who think Jungkook didn't mean it when he said so, and with non-shippers who can't stand any sort of shipping theorizing about his tattoos.
But, yes I think Jungkook is telling the truth when he says the J on his ring finger stands for his name. It’s possible he's telling a small fib to downplay his attachment to Jimin - it wouldn’t be the first time he’s told a verified white lie to protect jikook’s honour, as it were, so yeah it’s possible that he lied. But I'm choosing to believe he's saying the truth when he says the J stands for his name. That is, as far as we can tell, the truth.
Something that is also true is Jimin calling himself ARMY. Jimin has referred to himself as ARMY several times over the years, in situations that make no sense and that get eyebrow raises from all the members.... except Jungkook. Which leads me to think it's something of an inside joke between jikook - that much is clear, but I also think it's something more than that. What that is exactly, I don't know, but here's my gut feeling about it:
Jungkook has said the person he connects most with on stage, when they are performing in front of ARMY, is Jimin. For all the members, performing on stage is their reason to live, but this is most explicitly said by Jimin and Jungkook. Some of their most heightened emotional experiences, have been on stage and/or tied to their performances. Whether it's Jimin breaking down during Rosebowl and Jungkook screaming that he loves ARMY and loves him; or Jimin crying during his performance of The Truth Untold and Jungkook moving to support him; or jikook changing the lyrics at the end of their performance of the same song and turning to look at each other as the lights dim; or a teenage Jungkook stopping in the middle of a performance to stare at an injured Jimin during their Red Bullet tour - the other members moving around them wondering why they are locked in a stare-down in the middle of the show; or how Jungkook broke down in tears during the last LY concert and turned to Jimin for comfort who then used his sweater paws to wipe Jungkook's tears...
Jikook have been doing this for years. Consistently. There's a peculiar chemistry they show only when they are on stage together in front of ARMY that frankly doesn't feel at all like the fanservice I'm used to seeing from idols. It's as though they lose certain inhibitions when they are in this heightened emotional state when performing. They connect on a level I can't fully explain to be honest, but I think it's a connection they both recognize and perceive that the presence of ARMY is one way to facilitate it.
Basically, at the intersection of Jungkook and ARMY, lies Jimin. Without Jimin convincing him during pre-debut to stay with BTS when he wanted to quit to become a dancer, Jungkook wouldn't even be in BTS. That's just one example. I don't doubt Jungkook is telling the truth when he says the 'J' stands for his name, but I think the placement of the 'J' is also intentional, and that he intentionally placed it above the 'M' in ARMY knowing that it spells out Jimin's initials. Because I think for Jungkook, he feels that the person he is, the Jungkook that's matured into a global superstar honed by hundreds of performances in front of ARMY, won't exist without Jimin.
Like I keep saying, what exactly jikook's relationship is, I have no idea. But there's something about them that's peculiar. It's wholesome and beautiful and perplexing and simple.

Tumblr media
you know you shouldn’t call him.
you know it’ll end up like it always does.
kissing in the back of his car late at night,  whispered silent goodbyes, before you’re both left with empty apartments at night and sorry little texts for some sort of remembrance that you weren’t making the whole thing up.
at times it sure felt like it, it was all a complete secret. heeseung was… a friend. a good friend… and that’s all. that’s all it should’ve been.
so why were you sat at this boring party that you had no business being at, wishing he’d walk out of the crowd, knowing damn well that he wasn’t here.
you’d been out all night, and your head throbbed from the alcohol hoping for a distraction though your heart was aching for something else.
who were you kidding? you knew what the "something" was.
him.
your finger hesitated on his contact, you didn’t know if you deserved the effects of this stupid game you were playing. you didn’t know if he deserved it either.
this had been going on for months. a cruel sort of limbo between being friends and the precipice of something more.
he wasn’t your boyfriend, which sounds absurd in hindsight. he was someone who knew everything about you. someone who had held you close while you cried and stayed by your side through thick and thin. someone who has kissed you more times than you can count, someone who you spend countless nights with talking about nothing and everything all at the same time.
hell this man even had his own extra toothbrush at your place.
he was the person that you thought of before you closed your eyes at night, the first name that you remember when you wake up.
you didn't quite know what to do but one thing ran clear : this can’t keep dragging on.
you swallowed, pressing “call” before holding your breath in nervousness briefly.
one ring,
two rings..
and on the third ring he picked up, his voice hitting you like a painful reminder of what you needed but didn’t deserve. he sounded tired, voice raspy from sleep.
“hey baby? you alright, you’re calling kinda late?” heeseung murmured.
“baby”, just the name reminded you of how damn close you two had gotten.. it’s not meant to be like this, but you’d be lying if you said you didn’t want it to be.
you checked the time.
fuck he was right, it was already 1am.
you didn’t quite know what to say. there was too much to say. it wasn’t fair to say "why can't we be more than this?" over the phone... even though that's what you so desperately wanted to spew out repeatedly into the receiver in the hopes that maybe it'd come true, so you simply said what was the usual between you two.
“wanna go on a drive?” your voice was meek, almost like you were embarrassed to even say it.
and of course, he fucking agreed, whispering that he’d be there in ten minutes. like he always does. like he always is.. never more that 2 minutes late.
you sat on the wall dangling your legs as you stayed deep in your own thoughts for a while, before you heard him calling your name cutting through the silent ambience of the night. you were so gone that you didn't even hear his car pull up.
you look up from the floor and he’s stood there in front of you gently. your heeseung.
except he’s not quite yours.
“why’re you moping like that, doll?” his voice is gentle, and he softly touches your hand, squeezing it as he gently helps you down from your seat. you didn’t quite know what came over you but you fell into his arms, wrapping him in a tight hug.
maybe it was the alcohol, but perhaps it was just easier to blame it on that than the fact your feelings were eating you alive.
heeseung froze lightly before reciprocating gently, hugging you back though his face was painted in slight confusion. your heart raced as he let out a soft little laugh. “what’s this hmh?” he whispered.
you couldn’t help but crack a smile at him, he had that effect on you. even when you were feeling like utter crap he had a way of flipping it all over till you were laughing over the most mundane little thing. “nothin’...” you mumbled, burying your face in his chest, “missed you is all”
you could hear his heart beat grow faster at that, your smile growing with the pace of the rhythm. “missed me hm?” he teased, “and why would that be-?”
you knew he was only half joking, expecting you to crack some sort of sexual innuendo, but you swallowed before speaking. “because i love you.”  it slipped out before you could even stop it.
he stopped, his smile replaced with a slight look of shock, “l...love me?”
you paused, you’d fucked up. messed it all up for closure. this was the end, your throat ran dry, not quite knowing what to say.
he stood forward gently, softly taking your hand in his. “why do you look so nervous pretty?” he jokes.
he fucking jokes. and you don’t quite know why.
“because.. i fucked us up by saying that didn’t i..?” you could barely speak, your head swimming with possible outcomes, but what he did next was not one of them.
his hand softly pulled you towards him, holding you back to his chest in a warm hug, tilting your chin up to meet his eyes. “say it again won’t you?” his heart raced in unison with yours, his gaze filled with anticipation, a blush gracing his cheeks.
“i.. love you” you murmured, unsure of what he was getting at exactly, until he softly pressed his lips to yours a gentle chuckle leaving his mouth as you felt him hum happily against your lips, a soft whispered confession slipping past against your lips, “i love you too, like a lot.” he whispered just loud enough that your brain barely comprehended it before you’re kissing him back.
his hands cupping your face holding you tight, just like all the times you've kissed before, but this time you feel whole knowing it was all really real. he did love you back. just as much.

Hey, love your blog! Something doesn't sit right with me about Aang's attachment problem. Didn't he let go of Katara? We see him give her up and then gets shot by Azula. But he still opened it. If that's the case, why is Aang still attached to her? And why is he braver about it? (Asking her for a dance and kissing her twice, not that kissing her was a good thing). Did overcoming his attachment meant he saw her as more (romantically) approachable? But it's weird for him to overcome an attachment while in the next episodes he's more in love than ever. What do you think?
Yeah, the thing is, getting rid of his attachment should make him romantically braver and should ultimately make him closer to Katara. Because the problem with Aang's attachment was that it was an insecure attachment. Which is what made him act in ways that reflected that insecurity, like being anxious that Katara would not reciprocate his feelings. This actually hindered his relationship with Katara in book one and two because it prevented him from being honest about his feelings with Katara for fear that she might reject him. (Remember the whole "I'd rather kiss you than die" debacle?) This insecurity about losing her is also why he imagined her in peril when the guru asked him to let his attachment go.
And no way, no way is Aang going to get over that insecure attachment in a moment when Katara is in dire danger, in the heat of battle, when he couldn't do it before when he was with the guru and we're explicitly shown that the thought of Katara in danger is what is keeping Aang tethered to that insecure attachment. It's just not possible. I don't believe it.
What would have happened if Azula's lightning had not neutralized that conflict by making it irrelevant, is that realistically, after failing to save Katara and Ba Sing Se, Aang should be more insecurely attached to Katara than ever. And that is what happens. He acts more on his feelings but in ways that show that he's more afraid than ever that Katara will not reciprocate, and that then translates to entitlement towards her and anger at her in Ember Island Players for not reciprocating his affection.
So not only does it not make narrative sense for Aang to be able to open his chakra when he did, the narrative carries on as if he didn't and the excuse they use for why Aang can't is "because Azula shot him with lightning." The plotline about Aang forming a more secure attachment to Katara is completely dropped in favor of putting the onus on Katara to reciprocate Aang's feelings.
That's a large part of why book three feels like a mess. It actually would have been a compelling narrative if Aang HAD learned to be more secure in his attachment to Katara. Which should not mean he doesn't love her, it means he's secure enough to accept it if she says no. Which actually would make him braver romantically because he would not be afraid of rejection. So much of Katara and Aang's narrative feels like nice guy bullshit because the narrative blames Katara for not automatically returning Aang's love instead of having Aang pluck up the courage to actually ask her out. The reason so called "nice guys" always think that girls love jerks instead of them is that they don't realize that you actually have to ask a girl out to get her to be your girlfriend, instead of waiting for her to just fall into your lap because you're too terrified she will say no. And by the time Aang does make his intentions clear to Katara, it's "why aren't we together?" instead of actually asking her how she feels and what she wants.
And I've theorized that it actually was the original intention to have Aang go through a period of being more insecure in his relationship with Katara than ever before learning to be more secure in his relationship and thus unlocking the Avatar State, also rounding out the parallels between Aang and Zuko in book three, which also feel like missed opportunities that are never really followed through, most likely because the writers were either unwilling or unable to take the same risks with Aang's narrative as they did with Zuko's.

About the COD fandom. I just came across a fic that was labelled 16+ yet it was explicitly porn! The blog was something like "Coquette" or whatever with no age in their bio. And I swear you can't explain to these kids WHY you have to label shit appropriately because they just don't get it. One has to state it's 18+ because if you brazenly let minors view explicit content, YOU (in general) can get into major shit.
There are too many minors in the fandom. Too many blogs writing and liking fics with no age in their bios. I remember when teens were told to shut the fuck up in fandoms, at least when they tried to encroach on the 18+ side of it. Yes I am old and yelling at the clouds lol
Oh and I've seen "AKCHULLY Price would date an 18-year-old! He would so nah nah! He's not real so I can write what I want!" Write what you want but it's still gross. Especially because they really make a point of bringing up an age gap. there are alarming pedophilic themes in said fics of price fucking/dating 18-year-olds.
"Controversial young reader!" has 11k notes. "DBF Price/Simon/Konig" and the fics are revolting in nature because the reader is heavily implied to be young and very inexperienced and not in an "I have no interest in this shit" kind of way.
TLDR it's like fics are being written by minors, for minors. Just seems that way...
Tumblr media
There's a meme w this same format that goes ''I wish all minors a very get off my blog'' but I can't find it bfehbjefbjhfe
YES!! istg it's always the coquette lana del rey stan girlies who are into weirdly pedophilic things. It's even worse when they're actual adults purposely targeting minors with NSFW content, such as saying Price would date a barely legal girl or wait until she turns 18 to date her like... are you insane? fejnfejhbh This man would definitely want someone around his own age OR with at least a fully developed brain. Sure, everyone can write whatever they want, but people can also talk about it when you're making these men straight up predators.
HEAVY on the too many minors in the fandom, TikTok viralized the masked men and now you have minors commenting sexual things on the media of cosplayers or people who simply like tactical gear. Not to mention they RARELY respect a ''MDNI'', saying things like ''oh but I turn 18 in 2 years'' hbfehjbef PLEASE. And I get it, I've been on many different fandoms ever since I was like 11, I understand wanting to interact with creators and their content— but at the very least respect what they ask if they don't want to interact with minors.
That goes to the other point of kids developing parasocial relationships with the VAs. God, the comment section of the VAs is pure nightmare fuel full of kids saying they're gonna marry them one day or straight up commenting weird sexual things to people who are in their 30s. It's WEIRD, especially because it's so painfully obvious the parasocial relationship they develop is fully one-sided 😭 like why are you commenting how much you want to fuck this married 40-year-old man with kids on a post with his WIFE? Not to mention the hate people close to them get, such as Alain's girlfriend.
I have a small series of DBF!Keegan, but I imagine the reader to be at least in her mid-20s rather than an 18-year-old (or even younger, I've seen some DBF stuff making the reader a minor). It's honestly a bit bizarre to see ADULTS making pedophilic/predatory content targeting a young audience bfehbjfewl

You know that thing Barbatos does when he has incredible luck and uses it in MC's favor? Yeah, I love that.
(Screenshots are from celestialrealms except for the nightbringer chat, which I took.)
So it's canon that he has excellent luck, and while some people would use this to their own advantage and gain, he will ALWAYS use it to make MC happy. What a sweetheart.
While he would use his luck when MC and him are on the same team so they'll win, I can also see him subtly using it to give MC's team luck when he's on another team. (Much to his teammates' dismay. Although he's so sneaky, they'd never suspect it anyways.)
At the end of the day, his goal is to always see MC smile, and I think that's SO CUTE!
Imagine you're pulling gacha, and Barbatos sees you from afar, so he gives you a little push of good luck and stands back to watch you celebrate when you get the card you wanted. He'd enjoy the show and slip away when you turn around to his direction after you hear a small chuckle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ah yes, I was thinking about this too after that chat about Simeon lol!
I've been thinking about why Barbatos has such good luck. I mean, you could just chalk it up to him being the powerful being that he is to the point that being in his very presence simply bestows luck upon you~
Buuuuut I kinda like thinking of it as part of him being a greed demon. I don't believe this is explicitly stated in the game anywhere and I'm pretty sure the headcanon for it stems from the fact that when you give Barbatos a glow stick in the OG, it's a yellow one for greed, thus implying that Barbatos himself is a greed demon.
If this is the case, it kinda makes sense that he'd have good luck. I can't quite remember where it says it in NB, but they did say something about how when Mammon likes someone, they have good luck. So I think it would be funny if that particular trait of greed also manifests in Barbatos.
In his case, I like to think of it as he's just so powerful it's kind of amplified to encompass anybody who happens to be near enough to him at the time. But then he can also deliberately direct it toward people he likes (such as MC).
But I fully agree that Barbatos would always use that good luck of his to make MC happy. He's done it enough times that there's no doubt that he just wants to see MC smile.
I love the idea that he does it without MC realizing, too. Definitely like that scenario you describe where he just sort of chuckles and disappears.
I personally am a somewhat superstitious person in that I like to believe in good luck. I have all kinds of good luck charms and little things I do for luck. And I just loooove the idea of Barb being my own personal good luck charm.

op ur post about post-cage sam with stockholm syndrome has changed my life how do u see that manifesting in sam. how does he feel about it. ur wise words. i want to know what u think.
Anon, this is such a lovely ask, I don't know if you'll ever see this but I'm really sorry this took me more than three months to answer 🙈🙈
I think Sam, no matter what scenario, would and does feel deeply, deeply ashamed for any kind of attachement or connection to Lucifer.
Anyway I think there are many different ways to stockholm syndrome!Sam:
S6B: Sam feels like there's something missing. He doesn't know what it is, but there's a deep ache within him. It's not for Dean. God, he wishes it was Dean. And the shame of that tastes like bile: that Dean is not enough for Sam. That he wants something else. He thinks of Ruby and the demon blood. He thinks about Jess dying on the ceiling. Wanting things has never worked out well for him. He wishes he knew what he was yearning for - . Then Castiel breaks his wall and Sam remembers - bits and pieces, but it is enough. Oh, he thinks, of course it is you.
S7: When Sam starts hallucinating, Lucifer doesn't threaten him. He tries to make Sam believe he's still in the cage, but it's not to hurt Sam. He's understanding, almost apologetic. I know you miss Dean, but he's not here. You're with me. He's pointing out lucky escapes, making pointed remarks about the events of S6+7 (Purgatory, Eve, Leviathans...does all this not seem absurd to you?), the state of his and Dean's relationship (I don't know why you do this to yourself, Sam. Why do you imagine Dean treating you like this? The brother who trusted you to defeat me, who stood by you just as my brother did not...). Sam tries to dismiss everything he says, yet sometimes as he lies in bed at night after a long, tense, depressing day, Dean long since lulled to sleep with the help of whisky, he can't help but wish Hallucifer was right and none of this was real. And sometimes Lucifer hits a particular apt point and Sam spends days staring at Dean, looking for signs that can tell him if he's real or not. Sometimes - sometimes Lucifer feels much more real than Dean.
S11-13: There's something very compelling (to me) about Sam remembering exactly what Lucifer did to him in hell and hating him for it and yet being drawn to him. After all the time in the cage together he knows Lucifer - too well. He knows how he thinks, how he sees the world, what motivates him, how he feels about everything he does. Lucifer's mindset is as familiar to him as if it was his own. The certainty of his own experiences of suffering from Lucifer's hands vs the certainity of Lucifer's righteousness in making him suffer. And Lucifer knows exactly what Sam feels and of course wants to exploit it. Needless to say in this scenario Jack would explicitly be Lucifer's attempt to babytrap Sam...

Did Luz ever believed that she could save Belos?
I think the bigger question is whether or not Luz ever CONSIDERED that she could save Belos.
Remember, in the first episode, she shoves a pack of fireworks directly into a dude's mouth. She sicks the cubes against the crunch publisher and then just leaves. She lets Willow do whatever she wants to the monster hunters. She straight up leaves Tibbles to be eaten by his miniature pets now that they're full size. Etc. etc. Luz is not exactly someone who seems to even question what she should do to an enemy, let alone their humanity versus her own.
This isn't even a complaint about her but just kind of a fact. I don't mind that she doesn't care about her villains. It admittedly places her mindset more on the axis of the Isles which actually isn't great for her ever disagreeing with them. It's why stuff like her clearing out Eda's cheat box honestly feels weird because her morality in general is pretty close to gray but she is clearly framed as morally better than the majority of the Isles, especially early on. It's just... Not really true by her actions. Remember, by episode three she's already sneaking out for her own self glory and on mass lying to get into the school she wants and only one of those required any pushing from others to do.
It also makes the jabs at SU kind of weird because like... The show never cared about its villains before now. The fact that they're not dead is mostly because Luz just leaves them to other people or can't kill them. She's just not that sort of protagonist. I mean, she fucking branded Belos back in King's Tide as a way to make sure everyone with a brand didn't die... Which you know, kind of means HE'S going to die. She literally uses his life as a trump card to get him to do as she wants. It's part of why people laud that moment as Luz being clever because even if the way she does it is bullshit, the idea is sound.
The ONLY exceptions to this are Amity and Hunter but... Only kind of. In the episodes where they are true antagonists, she has no way to actually fight back against them, ending up leaving both unscathed as she has to use trickery or just run for it. Then they're not primary antagonists but instead people in tension with Luz which is different. Luz is shown their humanity and suddenly gives them a chance. Why is a good question and uh... The fact that of her villains, these are the only two conventionally attractive, white people who she might want to date is NOT GREAT. To put it mildly. Especially when in their third proper episode together, Luz is stating that she'll befriend Amity explicitly as part of fulfilling narrative tropes. And if you want to say Kikimora disproves this: She doesn't. Luz explicitly helps Kikimora to prove a selfish point. If she wasn't freaking out about her own family, she'd have likely left Kiki to rot. It's not like she exactly ever tries again with the little demon after all.
No, for the VAST majority of villains, you fuck with Luz, Luz will fuck your shit up. It's honestly weird that it takes Luz so long during Winging it Like Witches to decide to go the violent route on Boscha, which I just assume is so she doesn't end up back in detention or expelled. Or because she thinks Boscha can and will kick her ass if she tries something like that on her own. But yeah, Luz isn't some sort of cinnamon roll. In fact, I think a lot of people's interpretations of Luz are much more based on what her archtype appears to be than what her actual character is (myself included while I was writing fanfic for the show). She's introduced as the quirky, nice girl in the first episode and she's not SUPER far away from it, that is the closest to an archtype she has besides just kind of morally questionable teenager, if she has really any archtype or structural base to her character. You know, besides audience surrogate and thus kind of bland and non-committal in order to serve that.
She has a couple interests but 99% of the time can keep them reigned in. Sure she knows what fanfic is but that just means she spends literally anytime online/with fandom. Her energy is cute but very erratic for it showing up... At all. Her kindness is extremely limited and she honestly just isn't that quirky. She has one series she supposedly obsesses about but quotes at most half a dozen times in the show which makes it more a character quirk than a defining characteristic.
It's kind of part of why Luz doesn't grow because the series seems to spend a LOT of time trying to figure out what Luz is. Is she a morally questionable teenager? Is she an excitable goof? Is she the moral center or the one having to learn morals? And yes, a character can absolutely serve several roles and be flexible. I think she actually does that well in the first half of the series where she shifts a bit for the sake of other characters' stories, which is one option for your main character. You know, before her narrative role changes and they get a VERY firm idea of who she is siiiiiiiigh but it's still weird with how they did it.
It makes so much of what we're told and what people latch onto end up feeling contradictory. As an example: Her being bullied. We only get maybe three moments in the entire series that even hint at her having any sort of bad experience with other people, let alone kids her own age. It informs nothing about how she behaves or her character. She could have just been a normal kid most people left alone and nothing would change. So this element, that so many agree universally on, is just... Almost purely fanon and the moments it comes up in canon are really awkward and just don't make much sense with literally EVERYTHING ELSE she does.
It makes her getting a shapeshifter as her palisman ironically make a lot of sense. Her character has always just been what's convenient for the writers and what others project on her. A lot of her canon character just isn't used a lot. Instead, people opt for what the fandom says about her.
And that version might have considered saving Belos. Might have thought taking a life actually mattered. But canon Luz is just worried about becoming the bad guy. That this is the start of her villain arc, not that she is finally having to murder someone. Just that her justifications might make people say she's like the villain in her story.
Because canon Luz never considered if Belos should live. Not from the second it inconvenienced her back in Hollow Mind. Earlier with what he did to Eda if you want to be REALLY generous, even though she never acts on what Belos did to Eda. She only becomes a revolutionary once she can't have magic cloak because of it.
Almost like Luz isn't the morally good person that the show told us she was. She's just a selfish teenager which can be a lot of fun, so long as you own up to that being your character. Shame TOH never did.
======+++++======
As a note: This blog is actually a LARGE part of why I stopped really being able to write Luz. I literally had a moment writing this one off where I went "Luz wouldn't do this. This is too nice and understanding." It was ROUGH. And what sucks is that with the morality around her, at least when characters are still interesting, her being a nice, caring person is the best dynamic for her. It just... Isn't actually her dynamic and that's rough.
Also that story is from a year and a half ago. Just... Man I wish my brain would unhook from this show already. *sigh*

Right, so I was looking over your recap of Worthy again and didn't see you mention how absolutely contrived the circumstances of the James vs Winter fight were. If you remember from Creation, Winter explicitly states "No. When we're finished, we'll move both of you to safety." when Jacques asks if she'd be leaving him there. Logically, this would mean the next we see of Winter she'd be transporting James and Jacques to the nearest available portal but she doesn't? She just conveniently forgets about them. And I'd be FINE with that if it was written as a deliberate choice by Winter. "Sorry Weiss, these two men have negatively affected my life beyond repair and I can never forgive them." and while I don't necessarily agree wholeheartedly with that line of thinking because no matter what, every life should be fought for and saved in a scenario with magic transportation portals such as this. It'd at least be SOME sort of explanation that's in line with the narrative CRWBY is trying to tell. Instead we get her walking around aimlessly in the Atlas Vault, trying to communicate with everyone on the plan's status. Which makes no sense given that we've already seen the ground shake elsewhere meaning SOMETHING has happened to notify everyone that Atlas is falling. And I thought maybe I'll give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she doesn't know since no portals have spawned in the vault yet and then I rechecked and they HAVE.
Tumblr media
She should be sprinting for the portal. Atlas is falling. She needs to go go go but instead she just calmly walks towards it? Is time not of the essence? Where's the urgency? Like I get that sprinting in heels up a flight of stairs that large would be absolute murder on her ankles but still. They dumb her down just for the sake of a stupid fight that nerfs her so she NEEDS Penny to die to give her the powers and win in a fight she should have no issues with.
If I'm also giving her the benefit of the doubt - and from what I can recall after an admittedly long hiatus from watching this particular episode - I think she intended to move Ironwood and Jacques after the evacuation is complete. "When we're finished." So yes, she knows Atlas is falling because that's a prerequisite of the portals appearing. She knows the evacuation is underway and that something is going on thanks to communications being down, but not what. Winter has her next step planned, but no indication of if she should start it yet because she's not able to contact anyone and presumably she wouldn't want to go through the portal until she's planning to leave Atlas permanently. (We know that they can use the portals to get around Atlas/Mantle thanks to Jaune portal hopping to look for survivors, but I'm not sure that's ever established among the other characters. AKA Winter might think she shouldn't go through one until she's ready to leave it all behind, but she can't do that until she's gotten Ironwood and her dad).
But all the above keeps it just as contrived and stupid? Why does Winter need to wait until "When we're finished" to move them? To my recollection the show never establishes anything like, "You're a security risk so we're going to ensure everyone else is through before dealing with you" or "Based on our battle we'll need the rest of the team present to move Ironwood" or even a variation of your idea: "In theory I believe that no one should be left to die, but considering you made our lives hell, Jacques, we're not going to worry about you until everyone else is safe. You get rescued if there's time left :)" It's just such a weird situation that, yes, exists to ensure that Ironwood is conveniently alone so that only his cell can conveniently open so that he can conveniently go find Winter who is all alone in the vault... because?
This could 100% be me forgetting some aspect of Volume 8, but why is she in there again? She's not guarding the Staff because the girls already have it. She's not guarding the portal because portals have opened up all over the city and Ironwood/the villains can slip through any of them to reach the same place (as Cinder did). She's not playing decoy - misleading others into thinking the Staff is still there - because she's totally blindsided by Ironwood's attack. I'm just trying to remember/figure out the justification for this because if there isn't any that makes the fact that Winter isn't rounding up the prisoners all the more absurd. Her role in this plan seems to be to twiddle her thumbs (in a random place she has no good reason to be in) until she's told that all the hard work is already done. Then she can do the one errand she could have been doing this whole time.
I will say, thinking about it now I'm not against Winter being at a disadvantage against Ironwood, regardless of whether or not she's nerfed in terms of the skill she displays. Her losing tracks for me in terms of her being the subordinate/having him as a mentor in the early Volumes (implying that he's stronger not just politically, but combat-wise too), age (again, the older character is likely to have more experience + time to train their skills), and the fact that just recently we saw Ironwood going toe-to-toe against her, Emerald, and all of team JNOR, holding his own until he was inevitably overwhelmed. Don't get me wrong, everything is still wrong with Penny dying to give Winter the Maiden powers, from how her death was orchestrated all the way to a semi-literal deus ex machina that lets Winter win via convenient magical powerup. We could have had the more interesting a) she wins through a really smart tactic or b) she looses and now Ironwood is thrown into the portal bridge fray instead of being left to presumably die off screen :/

I think we as a fandom don't talk enough about Aira being Hiiro's fan—y'know, as an idol.
It might be because most people don't read the main story, or because it's not blatantly stated in there like other things, but it's something I think is a very unique facet about their relationship.
As we know, Aira separates his professional life and his personal life a lot. He will wait in line to shake hands with Hiyori Tomoe and buy a dozen CDs just to have a couple of extra minutes just talk to him, even though he can do this at any time since they're both idols living in the ES dorms and friends from the same circle.
And while this is admittedly silly from Aira's part, he truly sees this something serious and actually, he's kind of justified in thinking this way? He takes pride in being an idol otaku, and he wants to play as fair as possible with fellow fans, he doesn't want to take advantage of the fact that he's living and working alongside these super stars, and in my eyes that just shows how pure-hearted and honest he is.
With that in mind, it would be obvious to conclude that Aira would be a fan of his unitmates. He's definitely a fan of Tatsumi and Mayoi, but it's explicitly said in the MS that Aira is a fan of Hiiro.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is from episode 89, "Grace"
(this episode may or may have not changed my brain chemistry forever lol)
Here, Aira makes the statement that he wants to protect Hiiro as an idol.
Hiiro is new to this world; he's a rookie, he's unpolished, far from perfect, but he's brimming with potential and he shines brightly on stage regardless of his imperfections — especially to Aira's eyes, and Aira wants to protect that, he wants to keep Hiiro's shine, and to help him grow and become the great idol Aira sees in him.
And I just can't express how much this means to me??? To their relationship??? This is why I can't understand people who say Aira doesn't care about Hiiro (these are opinions I've read way too often on twitter...), when Aira more than anyone wants to protect him not only as a person (like when he comforts him, cheers him up and motivates him after Rinne disowns him), but also as an idol. Aira trusts in Hiiro the idol. He sees his potential and he admires him deeply — not only as a fellow idol or as a friend, but as a fan.
And what gets me is the wording Aira uses here. He talks about wanting to protect Hiiro, to defend him. This is stated in another chapter and I don't remember exactly where (I believe it's one of the last episodes of the MS, but please correct me if I'm mistaken), but Aira states that he wants to protect Hiiro's purity — and this can be interpreted many ways, be it in that he wants to protect Hiiro's innocence as in his personality trait (his endearing naivety, his trusting and friendly nature, his endless curiosity, his earnestness and sincerity), or his purity as an idol, in the sense that because Hiiro is an idol, he has an appearance to keep, he has to be shining and to be pure and beautiful all the time (because that's the image idols give to the world, to their fans; the image that gives countless of people like Aira hope); this can include protecting Hiiro from the darker sides of the industry, such as toxic fans, unhealthy relationships with fame, corrupted producers or people from the industry, among other things. Aira seems to be aware of these issues (as he mentions in the second chapter of the main story, see below), so it makes sense that he wants to shield Hiiro, who knows absolutely nothing about this industry or the city, from those things.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Episode 24, "Suspicious"
And personally, I think Aira means both. He wants to protect Hiiro's purity as a person: he wants to protect the cheerful and positive Hiiro he knows and loves and admires (Aira himself states this. Multiple times. So much so that Aira often comments about how uncomfortable he feels when Hiiro is gloomy or troubled, that he is always the first to ask what is wrong or if something is bothering him.... but talking about Aira's high perceptiveness for Hiiro's emotions is a topic for another day) — but he also wants to protect Hiiro as an idol, wants to protect the immaculate image he gives to the world and to his fans, because Aira loves him, the same way he loves an idol from a fan standpoint. And he hopes that by protecting this purity, Hiiro will grow to be the talented and shining idol Aira knows he can be.
And what gets me is that after thinking of Hiiro this way, Aira snaps out of his self-deprecating thoughts and decides to give his best in the Ullambana (episode 89). Aira literally overcame his insecurities because of Hiiro. Thinking of having to do his best and keep working hard in order to keep up with him and with Alkaloid gave him the strength he needed to stop spiraling down his own insecurities and focus his efforts into something that was worth it: in keeping Alkaloid alive, and keeping Hiiro The Idol alive, because Aira believes he will become an idol that will soothe, delight and captivate hearts of many like Aira in the future — and Aira has to become an accomplished idol and a strong person if he is to be next to him on stage to protect him and to help him grow.
-
I say a lot, mostly jokingly between my friends, that Aira is the biggest HiiroP... but after writing this whole post, I realize I'm not so far off from this assumption. Aira loves Hiiro as a friend, we all know and understand that, but what is often overlooked is that Aira—who divides his professional and personal life so strictly—recognizes the rookie, unpolished, but talented Hiiro as an idol, and he wants to see him grow and succeed not only as his friend and unitmate, but also as a fan. Hiiro is so shining and wonderful on stage that it awakens the idol-ota instinct on Aira, it brings him back to his roots where he watched and admired idols from afar and inspired and soothed his lonely heart. And honestly? I think this is terribly wholesome, if not incredibly beautiful, and I'm getting emotional over hiiai once again, so I'm going to finish the essay here. Thanks for reading ahdjfk

out of all the people you write for in cod watchdogs and strangerthings who is most to least kinky
COD i dont think a lot of these men would be diabolically kinky, like they see enough shit on a daily basis, i think they just want to be loved.
BUT-
Konig and Ghost are at the top of the list, they're into some weird shit konig moreso they're both into size difference stuff, like,
ghost cant get over how small you feel in his hands, it turns him on so fast. he covers up for it by teasing you or playfully being mean, bullying your cock if its smaller than his, poking fun at how wet your cunt is when he hasn't even touched you yet, stuff like that...
i also think he might be into bullying or degradation, not to him of course, if you try to bully him he gets all fussy but as soon as the tables are turned hes relentless.
konig LOVES your size difference, i wholeheartedly believe this man is a sub-leaning, he can still dom he just needs to be in the mood for it first but thats pretty rare. so if you're tiny and you can still dom someone the size of him hes head over heals swooning for you. if you top him AND dom him hes actually in love.
hes got some other nasty kinks as well, i can feel it
third place is a close tie between soap and price,
price is super into taboo stuff, it just takes a minute to unlock that side of him. he likes being called daddy and sir and LOVES roleplay
soap is an exhibitionist, you can't argue with me on this one. he pulling you to every little nook and cranny he knows of and having at it. there was one point in his life where he couldn't have sex in normal places like he just couldn't get hard at all unless there was a chance you could get caught.
Stranger Things
first place is Johnathan, youu know that saying i think its like the quiet people are always the freakiest.
hes nasty, i can feel it in my bones.
he LOVES taking photos of you and himself, he gets off on knowing you're probably jerking off to one of his pictures.
slight exhibitionist, he likes going to develop his photos in public dark rooms, the thought of someone seeing one gets him all hot and bothered.
hes kind of into cnc, as far as his photos, nothing more than taking pictures of you without you knowing you've already consented before
next in line HAS got to be eddie, theres someone i cant remember the name of who hc's him as a virgin and i whole heartedly believe it, hes had so much time to just sit and think, hes got so many filthy little fantasies and hes so pent up
he likes being edged, hes only thought about it, every time hes tried he ends up getting too desperate and making himself cum anyway, if its by accident or not.
he gets off on being called a pervert, maybe a freak but only if its in an explicitly playful way, theres a fine line and honestly its better to steer clear of degradation unless he states he wants it outright.
he likes being made to say what he wants, he likes to act confident and stuff but as soon as it comes to actually having sex hes so nervous.
i also think he really latches onto nonsexual domination, not like anything aggressive just if you nonchalantly do something that strikes as dominant in your every day life he starts getting hot and bothered like, telling him to do something "answer the phone, I'm busy" or "move i need to get over there" he likes a man who can assert himself without being overly aggressive.
steve and controversially billy have to be the most vanilla,
as much as i want to say steve is a kinky degenerate, hes not. hes a rich white boy with no parents, he probably just wants to be comforted during sex.
but that doesnt mean he wont try things you want to try, hes open to suggestions you have. the kinkiest thing hes ever initiated would probably be heavy making out along with some frottage in a public bathroom.
billy is heavily traumatized and very like self-repressive and oppressive, he hates himself for being gay and he probably won't let you touch him like that for the longest time.
WATCH DOGS!!!!!!!!!!!! i was so excited to get this one, i never get watch dogs asks but i love my babies sm
first on the list is wrench, duh. the guys a fucking degenerate, he wants to try any and everything, no matter what it is.
i think his personal favorites are choking, cameras/filming, wearing women's underwear, and exhibitionism less so in legion
he doesnt like being called or calling you daddy unironically, it gives him the ick if its done seriously.
second is probably jordi. the more i think about it the more i think he might be kinkier than wrench but jori knows what he likes whereas wrench will do anything.
jordis into objectifying, hes not really the kind of guy to turn to a sex worker, i see him as a fuck buddies guy purely because he thinks hes too old/his job is too much to have a real relationship with you but he still acts like your boyfriend and he gets possessive in the way where he stalks you and your socials for more info about that new guy you're hanging out with. he wants to be the only guy you fuck and what he wants he gets.
jordi also favorites rough sex and choking and he likes cumming inside you whether you like it or not.
hes also super into spending money on you but only when it benefits him, he'll whine and complain if you ask him to buy you a charger or something but hes all over buying you like expensive ass lingerie or something
in last place is marcus, im sorry but he doesn't give me kinky vibes, the kiniest hes ever gotten was playing the weekend and turned the leds red while you fucked

I can do a Bloodborne problem with a character that no one addresses too, watch me!
*hides myself in a bunker to play a brave contrarian victim when I am in fact the biggest conformist ever, because if I address the risk of having strong disagreement it will force people to either stay silent or look bad by disagreeing*
"A point I see no one talks about is that Gascoigne is not a good person at all. He is to blame for the deaths of Viola and his daughters! Even if it was beasthood that he could not control why did not he do more to prevent it from getting so bad? Gascoigne has been explicitly stated to progressively lose his mind because of the hunt, to the point where Viola had to REGULARLY risk her life to carry a calming music box for him to remember himself. He should have gotten the hint so why didn't he stop hunting to keep his family safe from his own claws? Even his set hints it was stench of blood and hunt that corrupted him! He maybe didn't kill the daughters directly, but because of him they were left defenceless without either of their parents so he is unintentionally to blame for them dying anyways. AND GOD I WISH there was an evidence that not he killed Viola but since we don't have it I'll assume he did. All fiction is rooted in reality and we live in reality where domestic abuse with lethal outcome happens. Why can't we just declare fans fav problematic without going at each other's throats over it? I just wanted to discover a reason for both sides to hate him, I was not trying to instigate a conflict or act morally right! Also, no need to harass people that still love this misogynistic wife-killer and child-neglecter!"
See? It was really simple. But you never hear anyone say something like this because Gascoigne and every other character is a blorbo and Gehrman is a punching bag that people only remember to do an autopsy of how bad he is. If fandom loves circulating negativity about Bloodborne characters so much, at least don't discriminate! What about sins of Ludwig, Djura, Maria, Adella, Alfred and others whose wrongdoings are never so obsessively brought up. It is always JUST Gehrman.
💀
Lowkey, even if Moon Presence was luring Ludwig into further darkness through the guidance of the moonlight sword, WHY OH WHY, didn’t Ludwig just STOP listening to the false guidance?? Just stop being manipulated by eldritch horrors?? It’s not that hard??
Literally just kill the gods.

Can't remember if I've talked about this before on here so if I'm repeating myself, my apologies, but I do wanna talk about this regardless.
My thesis: There are two Flash and Kid Flash personality types and opposites attract.
Barry&Wally:
So let's look at the Barry&Wally combo. As the Flash and Kid Flash these two could not be stopped. They along like a house on fire. Barry was socially awkward, Wally was extremely social and socially oblivious. Barry liked to think things through, Wally liked to act. Barry was more serious and reserved, Wally didn't have those words in his vocabulary.
They weren't opposites in everything of course. They were both kind and brave people. There were just certain defining aspects about them that differed. Despite their differences (or because of them) these two worked phenomenally well together.
Wally&Bart:
These two were just- it's like-
They were so non-functional as a duo it's not even funny. Even calling them a duo feels wrong because that implies some level of being on the same page and they just did not have that.
Wally and Bart hated each other at first. Wally at multiple points states that it's because Bart was too similar to Wally as a child. It was like seeing the younger version of you do all the cringe things that keep you up at night. Wally barely restrained himself from throwing down with a child whenever he was in the same room as him. And Bart.... He really didn't help that in any way. I mean, first thing he did when he met Wally was punch him in the face.
Thankfully they actually have a really good relationship now and they can work together and have good results. It's just that they tend to not work together unless it's an emergency. They prefer to not work together. Which I get. Would you want your brother with you 24/7? It's just not preferable for them.
It is interesting and notable however that they have extremely similar personalities and that it's explicitly stated that they don't get along because of that.
Barry&Ace:
These two were a disaster. You thought Wally and Bart fought a lot? These two make Wally and Bart look like little angels.
Barry and Ace love each other and they respect each other but they're both so.... Serious? Reserved? Broody? Angst filled? Dramatic? That they got into an argument basically every time they did anything ever.
And not arguments like Wally and Bart had arguments. Worse arguments. Wally and Bart would pull pranks on each other, call each other names and make jokes and then like a minute later they'd be over it because they have the attention span of a goldfish. Barry and Ace??? They had actual serious fights about actual serious things. And they lasted for months. And when it got really bad they'd stop talking to each other. For months.
They're over it now and again, they do love each other, but man, they were a bad combo. They didn't lose a whole lot of battles as the Flash & Kid Flash but jeez it was still a bad time.
Barry&Bart:
They haven't really worked together much? But the few times they have worked together or hung out they seem fine? Not a lot to go off of.
Wally&Ace:
These two are so great together!! They've got a fantastic brothers dynamic going on and they work together all the time. They regularly patrol and Wally bribes Ace to babysit his kids.
These two are a duo. They are cohesive. They're a team.
Conclusion:
Wally and Bart have the same personality type (let's call it P1). Barry and Ace have the same personality type (let's call it P2). You can pair a P1 and a P2 speedster together and they will work flawlessly with zero arguments or issues. If you pair two speedsters of the same personality type together then your best case scenario is something blows up. Worst case scenario you have two speedsters giving each other the silent treatment.
Caveat:
You can pair two speedsters of the same type if they also have a third buffer speedster with them.
Example: Barry, Wally and Ace were a fantastic team because when Barry and Ace started to argue Wally would step in and calm everyone down.

Okay theory time: I've watched the gameplay footage from LNIII ten times or something like that, and I have some theories about it. Notably concerning the presence of normal-looking adults inside the Necropolis.
Tumblr media
While they are dead, they're unmistakably normal adults. As far as I know, it's the first time we see actual non-monstrous adults in the Nowhere. Which, of course, leads to the question: how the heck did they arrive here?
The Sounds of Nightmares is currently the only Little Nightmares source that explicitly states how one can enter the Nowhere: by being transported through dreams, with the potential implication of the Ferryman one way or another. But this process seems to only work with children, as Otto is denied access because he's too old.
So, those adults must have come another way, but how?
Well, I think that those dwellers came with their city. I think the Necropolis hadn't been built into the Nowhere, but that it had been taken from another world. Some (or maybe even all) of its adult inhabitants were taken with it inside the nightmarish realm, only to meet their end when Monster Baby decided that it was her new playground.
This could even applied to other locations in the Nowhere: the Pale City for instance. Some doors in the city are sealed off, but in a way that is impossible for a child.
Tumblr media
Plus we have numerous elements that seem to show that this city was once a regular city, but that it had been left to rot. Therefore, I think that it was effectively a normal city once, but that it was transported into the Nowhere. The denizens either started to turn into Residents or fell into despair, wanting to escape this world and their close ones who were now monsters. That feeling of wanting to escape was exactly what the Signal Tower - a being that feeds on escapism- needed to prosper and grow.
We can even argue that the township from the second issue of the 2017 comics is a place that is in the process of being assimilated: this is why we children don't seem to know about monsters while there are no other adults.
Tumblr media
The Residents are just starting to slip in, and while someone managed to understand that and trap the Mirror Man, most of the kids here believe the monsters to be some kind of fairy tale.
Maybe even the whole Nowhere is only made of such place, a patchwork of stolen cities and landscapes across the many other worlds around. It would reinforce the dream-like nature of this reality. You know, the way places of your reality show up in dreams, not as they are but as you perceive them, as you remember them, as you feel about them, so you always know that something isn't quite like it should but you can't tell what exactly?

@ship-of-skitties Ask and ye shall receive.
More thoughts swirling in my head regarding my OC Horaia and the AU she's written into.
I realized that the draft was getting inordinately long as I'm in the process of typing this damn thing (it's been more than half an hour of nonstop typing as of the moment I'm retroactively acting this paragraph and readmore in the draft, send help) so I'll put the rest under the cut:
I have talked before of how Horaia had been more yearning than person her whole entire life (until she got her memories back in full that is, and even then it's not as though the longing disappeared entirely it just... settled. more on that elaborated here), right? It's a huge component of her character concept. That emptiness. That disconnect from the rest of the world. The amorphous ineffable sort of want. The hollow in her heart. The sheer loneliness from the secure sort of knowledge that nobody in this world can understand her fully.
“God occupies me as a shapeless hunger.”
And y'know what said hunger/longing/yearning/want/loneliness reminded me of?
The God of Darkness.
His story is basically that he'd been alone for so long, aching for companionship that'd break this loneliness, until he met the Goddess of Light and had a bunch of kids with her, and even though I don't think this was stated explicitly I have to wonder if his desire to see more life be brought forth from Ewigeliebe and Geduldh's union was in part fuelled by the memory of said loneliness. Anything to lift it. Anything to expel it. It's not enough, never enough, he must simply try to make the world less empty just so maybe the silent void won't drive him to despair.
An all-consuming sort of want, if you will.
Just like a black hole.
It's also said that the reason Royal Academy students gotta wear predominantly black clothes is a reference to the God of Darkness, represents and symbolizes the desire to consume any and all knowledge like darkness itself— though I can't seem to find a direct reference of this on the English wiki. I saw it in the light novels, I swear I fucking saw it.
Anyways, kid Horaia. She hears about the story of the gods and latches real hard on the God of Darkness's story in particular because the shaking crying little animal part of her psyche (the one constantly clawing at the back of her throat, desperate to scream out loud, the manifestation of this nameless grief for things she won't ever get back) relates to him. The darkness, the all-consuming, the black hole— a gravitational phenomenon so strong it devours everything and lets nothing escape its grasp.
So at night, she prays.
Or more like desperately pleads to the God of Darkness for answers, girl's not doing okay.
She asks:
What do you do with this hunger? What do you do with this desire? This emptiness, the hollow in your heart?
She asks:
What do you do with this desolation? What do you do with this loneliness, this grief of solitude?
And there is no answer but the silence from the dark of the room but she thinks she feels the weight of a gaze, a heaviness in the air, almost solid enough to cut through.
Maybe.
Some of you who has read one of the two drabbles I put forth may remember Myne's mulling on the subject of monsters, how Horaia had labelled herself one with something like pride.
Monere to monstrum to monster.
To admonish, to warn, to advise.
Portent, sign, divine omen.
Monster, monster, monster.
Aka girl keeps receiving warnings and visions in her dreams a la Hildegard von Bingen and becomes an omen in of itself because well what else is she gonna become? Carrier of divine will, one who communicates the gods' desires to the earth. Like Myne (Enheduanna) the Saint who carries the will of mortals to the divine in order to retrieve blessings and protections from them Horaia is almost a Prophet by the gods' design.
Schlaftraum is her patron deity for reasons I've stated before (though I'd be more than willing to say them again if y'all so wish) but the God of Darkness is also among those she honors the most.
On that note it does trip me up that Schlaftraum is Ewigeliebe's subordinate and not the God of Darkness's, like, the dream/sleep thing is already close enough to the divine domain of night, I always have to do a double take whenever I remember that the God of Dreams isn't a subordinate of the God of Darkness whose cloak symbolizes the night sky but oh well. It's fine. It's fucking fine. Don't think too much about it, argh!
Where was I going with this? Oh, yeah, Horaia's intimate bond with the divine, with the God of Darkness in particular.
Maybe she encounters the shrines on the Academy grounds. Maybe the first shrine she finds is of the Dark God.
Maybe it's the only shrine she frequents to pray to, because he's the only deity among the Seven that she really feels a solid connection to until she's pushed to do otherwise. Maybe. The details still aren't ironed out, I'm just chucking pasta at the wall to see what sticks for now.
Either way though, let me jump onto a tangent regarding her Gender Identity Shenanigans™ and how that intertwines with her affinity to the God of Darkness: y'know how the husbands are often compared to the Dark God and their (first) wives the Light Goddess?
Yeahhhh no. The labels got flipped with Horaia and Ferdinand. Because of course they did. I will not elaborate for now bc my brain is starting to fry with all this typing when will I be free aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Myne is also dragged into this bullshit dynamic bc of course, she's most affiliated with Mestionora and while adoptive daughter isn't quite the same a one and only grandchild it could plausibly be stretched as similar, ey?
Myne-as-Mestionora may or may not guide Horaia-as-God-of-Darkness to the Wisdom to take over Yurgenschmidt—
Like I said. Still stamping details out. I originally hadn't planned for Horaia to potentially become Zent? But ah well let's just roll with it I'm not in control of the damn AU anymore.
My thoughts are becoming jumbled and I couldn't really find a way to incorporate this seamlessly so here it is as a bonus:
Horaia pleading, I cannot bear this world a moment longer.
And the God of Darkness replying, Then, child, make another.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
On that note, the God of Darkness and Goddess of Light are said to be the “progenitor of all gods” but the only deities acknowledged to be theirs are the four seasonal deities sooooo what's up with that, but it isn't quite relevant to our discussion so I'll set my theological confusion aside for now.
