We're asking if you've heard them, not if you like them - and doing a background check on every submission is infeasible. ───♫───────────── ⏭ When will my submission be posted? You can check our progress by looking at the submissions spreadsheet. Finished submissions are the ones highlighted turquoise. Keep in mind that we post once per hour, and you can probably estimate the date from there.

───♫───────────── ⏭ Why didn't my submissions post in the order I submitted them? We rearrange the queue if there's a lot of bands of the same genre/vibe submitted in a row. Or for no reason.

───♫───────────── ⏭ Why didn't my submission get posted at all? A few reasons this could happen:

Your band is still in the queue, just not in order (see the question above this one)

Your band has been submitted before (search the blog or the data sheet for them)

Your band is so obscure we couldn't find album art or genre info for them

We genuinely made a mistake: thought we did them already, or accidentally skipped them, etc.

Feel free to submit them again (though, if possible, please first search the suggestions spreadsheet to make sure nobody else has submitted them again already). If you're positive your submission got skipped, you can also send an off-anon ask or DM a mod, and we'll post a poll for them ASAP if the submission is valid. Accidents happen.

───♫───────────── ⏭ How do I suggest songs for multiple-artist submissions? See here and here.

───♫───────────── ⏭ What's the policy on vulgar/offensive band names or album art? Generally OK, but it'll be decided at our own discretion. In the case of album art, we try to find one of the artist's other works at around the same popularity, and if we can't, we'll trigger tag it.

───♫───────────── ⏭ Why don't you tag polls with the band names? Tagging it would put the post in the lap of every fan who follows or searches for the tag. For popular bands, we feel this would skew the results too much.

───♫───────────── ⏭ Can you trigger tag [x]? We currently tag common triggers like gore, nudity, body horror, and suicide (as "#____ tw"); if we missed a post with one of those, please let us know! As for implementing new trigger tags, sorry, we have enough on our plate at the moment and probably wouldn't remember it. We recommend using Xkit Rewritten's post block feature and/or Tumblr's built-in tag/content filtering.

Dead Dove December

Hello everyone! This December I’m hosting an event for the Oscar Isaac and Pedro Pascal fandom that I’m calling, Dead Dove December! From 12/01/2023 - 12/31/2023 I’m encouraging others to create something that expresses their deepest and (most importantly) darkest desires. I will be reblogging all pieces of art or fanfiction, and will post a masterlist in January.

What is Dead Dove Do Not Eat?

Dead Dove: Do Not Eat, or DDDNE has its origins in one of my comfort shows!

The phrase comes from a meme referencing the 2003 Arrested Development episode "Top Banana", in which Michael Bluth opens a paper bag labeled "DEAD DOVE DO NOT EAT" and, upon discovering that there is a dead dove inside the bag, says, deadpan, "I don't know what I expected." - fanlore.org

In short, what you see in the tags is what you should expect to see in the fic. This can apply for any type of fic, including the fluffy ones, but it’s usually associated with darker themes. That being said, this is your warning that this is a DARK THEMED EVENT. If you aren’t comfortable with darker topics like non-con, excessive violence, blood/gore, death, toxic relationships, 18+ age gaps, and more, then I encourage you not to participate in this event.

How to Participate

For the month of December, post your Dead Dove fanfiction or fan art on your blog. Use the tag #deaddovedecemeber2023 and tag me. You can also send a link via ask or DM if you like! I will not be posting anything for you, just reblogging and linking. At the end of December I will post a masterlist with links to everyone’s works! Side Note - Since Tumblr doesn’t really allow for NSFW art, you can post your work on Twitter or any other site that allows it and just send me that link so I can add it to the masterlist.

Rules

You MUST be 18+ to participate. I will be checking your blog/social media to be sure. Please make sure your age is easy to find. If I find that you’re a minor or if your age isn’t readily present I will be blocking you and you will be unable to participate. You can just add that you are over 18 if you don’t want your age out on the internet. As the creator and promotor of this event, I need to know I’m not interacting with minors given the nature of this event.

The work MUST be dark in some way. There’s no limit to how dark your work needs to be or can be, but it needs to contain some sort of dark theme in order to qualify. If non con isn’t your thing, dub con via stockholm syndrome or brainwash can let you write a more comfortable scene while still remaining dark. Fics and art do not necessarily need to be NSFW.

Do NOT post anything before 12/01/2023. I will not count submissions prior to that date or after 12/31/2023. Masterlsit will be posted in January.

Your work MUST contain the proper tags. I won’t police how detailed your tags should be, but, for instance, if your work contains non-con, and you didn’t tag non-con then your work will not qualify. Please be inclusive in your writing where you can.

You may submit no more than two (2) pieces. This can include a fanfic and fanart, two fanfics or two fanarts. This is to allow someone to write a piece and make a work of art to accompany it.

I’m not going to yuck someone’s yum, but there are some things I’m just personally not comfortable with and since I’ll be reading/viewing all of these, I have a few things not allowed in the event. The list of what’s NOT allowed is shorter than the list of what IS allowed so here’s a list of the things that will NOT be tolerated in this event:

No underage/aged up minor content - To clarify, this includes things popular ships like - TLOU 1 or Show Ellie x Joel or Miguel O’Hara X Gwen Stacy. No "ageing up" minors for the purpose of a fic.

No Bestiality - To clarify, monsterfucking does NOT count as bestiality (at least to me). For example, werewolves, venom, Khonshu, e.t.c. are all allowed.

No incest - To clarify, step-sibling/step-parent relationships are permitted as long as everyone is 18+. Selfcest relationships are also allowed (like Moon Knight or Miguel with his alternate self, e.t.c.).

If you’re unsure if something is allowed or not, you can send me a DM or an ask for clarification prior to posting.

You can use any prompts you want or none, you aren’t tied to any one idea but here are some to get the ideas flowing if you need them!

Also, you can absolutely use a fic to inspire your art, or art to inspire a fic! Your inspiration piece, whether yours or someone else’s does not have to be from December, but you MUST obtain permission from the original creator before I promote your work. Most creators are happy when their work inspires others, and all my fics are open to being used for inspiration, but please reach out to the creator first.

I’m very excited! I’ve never done anything like this before so things may be updated as I go so bear with me! Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with!

How do I request a card?

You can request up to 3 cards for free during openaskbox events! During those, the /ask inbox opens up for a few hours, during which I try to write as many as I can live on twitch and post them on tumblr.

After the event is over and I close that inbox, there are still a BUNCH of leftover requests. This is how I fill the daily content queue, I use those up til it's empty again and then run another openaskbox.

On Sundays at 3pm EST I write all 28 cards due to go up for the week from that pool of leftover asks live on twitch and then queue them to go up after stream

What if I don't wanna wait?

If you'd like to throw a bit of cash around instead of waiting, you can buy via the etsy listing or you can tune in to those^ Saturday livestreams, there's a variety of ways to donate to get cards written for you on the spot

How do I buy the card I've requested?

The etsy listing is available here! Please remember to include in the notes of the purchase which card(s) you want to buy. If you'd like me to bundle together all the cards you've requested over a period of a few years, dm me here on the blog and I can quote you on a cheaper bundle price

Why did you answer all those asks, it messed up my dash?

Sorry about that! So to keep all of that ^ organized, at the end of the month, I answer about 112-140 leftover asks in order to record them to a proper "to-write document"

It helps me keep organized, it allows me to easily search for spelling issues, and it gets a few eyeballs on the request in case someone tries to slip an obscure slur into their request that I'm not cool with writing (it has happened)

Lots of the regulars are used to this dash nonsense, but there are folks who want to avoid it entirely. If you're on mobile I'd just recommend unfollowing for a while, but if you're on desktop, you can blacklist the tag "added to notepad" and go to xkit to tick the "fully hide blocked tags" option so it clears up your dash

Wait I thought requests were closed, why can I still send things?

That's because requests use /ask, but /submit is always open because it's for YOUR calligraphy, pet photos, fanart of man... etc. Requests are NOT open when it's not openaskbox day but feel free to send me cool shit YOU made anytime

Wait you have a twitch, do you do anything other than calligraphy?

I try! my schedule at work (restaurant) varies week to week so I try my best to stream whenever I've got free time to, nothing's really planned out though

What are your regular writing tools and paper?

I mainly just use speedball nibs, specifically the c-series (c-0 through c-4) because they're angled flat nibs that let me do most blackletter hands I write. I have a supply of leonardt thin tips for detailing and illustrating

As for paper, the cards you see on the daily are on plain index cue cards I buy from staples. When commissioned/doing larger pieces, I work with a variety of paper, including a 32 lb xerox paper that has juuuust a perfect amount of lamination that avoids ink feathering, black paper that I bought a hundred sheets of in 2019 and I no longer remember the label, and a BOATLOAD of southworth's ivory parchment paper at both 32 and 64 lb weights.

Welcome, one and all, to the 8th Annual Tickle Fandom Bloggers Squealing Santa Extravaganza!

This year’s humble host for 2023 on her second year is @hypahticklish - I'm ecstatic to continue stoking the fires of our wonderful tradition! We were so lucky last year to have not only our community artists join the fun, but to break our previous record of participants. I cannot wait to see all the magic our corner of tumblr is able to create 🥰 But enough of my shmoozing - let’s get on to the main event! 

Here are the general rules of engagement:

In order to get a peice of tickle fiction or art, you must be willing to create a new peice of tickle fiction or art for someone else.

Your work must be based on the fandoms and prompts provided by your giftee during registration. Examples of what those loose prompts may look like can be found here.

All creations must be posted during the month of December.

All creations must have a title and @ both their giftee and the event blog when posting.

All participants will have their DMs and Asks available for communication with the event Host.

For Our Writers

Fics must be at least 500 words, but there is no limit if you’d like to write more!

All authors must also include the total word count of their piece and a short summary.

Fics must be legibly formatted, i.e. not a block of text for the entire piece.

For Our Artists

Traditional art must be completed on an unlined surface with minimal remaining sketch lines. Color or grayscale is optional. Scanning is preferable when uploading your piece but at the very least needs to be clear and well-lit photo.

Digital art must minimally be in contrasted color or grayscale, and have finished line work. 

Comics must have a minimum of two medium-large panels OR two small panels and one medium-large panel, with minimal remaining sketch lines. Color or grayscale is optional.

All artists must include their own accessibility image IDs.

There is no limit if you'd like to create more or explore stylization!

Once sign-ups end, we’ll send out assignments and you’ll have until December 31st to finish your piece and send it to the person you’re creating for. In turn, your writer or artist will post a piece for you also by the end of December! No one will know who is working on whose prompts until the works are published, because surprises are fun!

Please note that the registration is conducted via Google Forms. While we have turned all email requirements off, there’s still a chance it will autofill that information if you’re logged in. We’d definitely recommend filling out the survey using incognito mode just in case for that reason. Should any emails be submitted accidentally, they will not be utilized or released.

IF YOU ARE ANON: you still must include a tumblr url that we can contact you at. We promise we won’t give it out to anyone; we just will need a way to contact you over the course of the exchange!

I was inspired by a post that I saw here that I was tragically unable to reblog because it suddenly disappeared from my dash on mobile when it decided to do a refresh to create this event. Essentially what the Fic Read & Comment Exchange is is a way to share fics that you love with others and encourage everyone to comment on fics. This is going to be shared here on tumblr AND on r/fanfiction. This is open to any and all fandoms.

Here's how it'll work:

You'll fill out the two forms, the reader preference form and the fic submission form. You cannot participate unless you fill out both forms. So I can make sure that you've filled out both forms, please be sure to use the same contact info on both forms.

I'll continue to accept submissions for the exchange until April 30, 2024.

After April 30, 2024, I will go through all of the submissions and pair everyone who's participating with TWO fics. You'll receive your two fics via the contact point you specified (here on tumblr, via email or through your reddit). These should go out some time during the first week of May. If you filled out the forms and don't receive a contact by May 12, 2024, please feel free to DM me and let me know!

Once you've received your "reading list" you'll need to go off and read the fics you got. For each fic, make sure to leave at least ONE comment on the fic. The comment should ideally be thoughtful, at least 2-3 sentences in length and address something specific about the fic (ie: lines, character interpretations, plot, worldbuilding, mood/tone, etc.). This is not an invitation for concrit. This is about the positive power of comments.

The Rules:

Do NOT submit ANY AI generated fic. AI generation of fanfiction stands in complete opposite of what fandom and fic writing culture is and should be, and generative AI tools are built using stolen creative works, and uncompensated labor of creatives. I will ban you from this exchange if I see you do this.

Please only submit fics that are hosted on either ff dot net or AO3. Do not submit fics on wattpad or other sites.

You MUST fill out BOTH forms to participate.

You will submit FOUR fics. Three of them MUST be fics written by someone who is NOT you. You are allowed to submit ONE fic that you wrote -- but be sure to indicate if a fic was written by you in your form. Try to submit less popular, less interacted or less well known fics, so we can share the love far and wide.

CRIMINAL MINDS FANDOM GIFT EXCHANGE 2023 • sign ups now open

Hello and welcome to year two of the Criminal Minds gift exchange! We had an amazing turn out last year, so let’s see if we can outdo ourselves in 2023!

Here’s a recap on what it is we do here:

Firstly, what is a fandom gift exchange I hear you ask? That’s simple. It’s like Secret Santa, but instead of receiving a candle that someone got from their grandma last Christmas and didn’t want, you get a fan creation made (or written) just for you.

Okay, so how does it work? Everyone will both receive a gift, and create a gift. After the 14th, you will get a DM from us with the details of your recipient’s wish list, so you can get started. There will be a week’s window to post your gifts - starting Dec 19th - and you can choose to do this publicly on tumblr or AO3, or via direct message.

Do I get to choose my own recipient/Santa? You will be assigned both a recipient and a Santa based on your answers to the form at the end of this post. You will be matched by the ships and characters you’re willing to create for/wish to receive works about, the content you’re able to create or wish to receive, and any other factors we think might be relevant. This is so you don’t end up having to write a story for a character you don’t like, or a ship you can’t tolerate. We’ll ensure that you also don’t receive anything that might be triggering, upsetting, or inappropriate in terms of rating - as these are all things you’ll answer about on the form.

Okay so what fan works are allowed? FanFiction (anything over 1000 words), fanart, video edits, fanmixes (min. 8 tracks) and creative gif sets will all be accepted as gifts - the important thing being you should present something you yourself would be happy to receive (in terms of quality, a finished piece etc.) In the form, you can select preferences for these, as well as letting us know what type of creation you’re willing to gift. We will match you to your recipient and Santa through this.

We are allowing NSFW content in this exchange, however, as minors will also be allowed to participate, please read the info of your recipient very carefully to ensure you don’t gift someone something inappropriate. Also be sure to use the community guidelines on tumblr, and the rating system on Ao3 (if applicable) to ensure this content is seen by the correct eyes!

Okay, this sounds great! I’m in! What next? Please fill out this form and submit it before November 14th - be sure to thoroughly answer all the questions. You will receive a DM from this page on the 15th assigning you your recipient, including all the info stated in the form. No personal or private information will be corresponded! This is a blog for making polls about giant/tiny size headcanons about characters from all kinds of different media, run by me, the one-and-only @tiny-brain. Yeah, you've probably (never) heard of me. I (don't) get around.

Each poll will be about a different character from a different piece of media, determining whether they should shrink, grow, or if they'd work better as a full-on sizeshifter!

2024 Cap-IM Reverse Bang Date Claims Information

The Cap-IM Reverse Bang Date Claims are coming—it's time for you to decide on a posting date! Date Claims will open on Saturday, April 27th, 9:00 AM EDT (what time is this for me?) and close on April 29th at 11:00 PM EDT. Remember that if no one on your team is available to claim a date, you can ask someone else to proxy-claim for you!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

By claiming a posting date, you are committing to having your work complete and ready for posting by the date you have picked; this counts as your check in for the RBB. If your team does not claim a date by April 29th 11:00 PM EDT or email the mods prior to claims, we will assign your team to a posting date.

If you have any special requests, such as pre-arranging a set posting date due to personal circumstances, please email [email protected] or DM Cap-IM Mods on Discord as soon as possible so we can try to accommodate you (please note that we cannot guarantee anything, and will consider requests on a first-come, first-serve basis).

If no team member is able to submit your date claims on behalf of the team, please use a proxy to submit a claim on your behalf. If you can't find a proxy, please email the mods at [email protected].

By submitting a claim, your team is committing to publishing your works on any of the dates chosen. If you believe you won't be able to finish your work by next month, please communicate your concerns with your partner(s) and the mods as soon as possible. HOW TO CLAIM YOUR DATE

31 posting dates are available from 1st May to 31st May. Only two teams will be posting on any given day so that your Stevetony content is staggered for people to enjoy! Before choosing the posting dates you will list, please make sure it will work for everyone on the team. You are required to have all works posted on your confirmed posting date by noon EDT so that you can send the mods the masterpost information on time. This means that if an artist is working with two creators (was double claimed), they will all post their fanworks on the same day. Posting date claims will be run via a Google Form on a first come, first-served basis.

The Date Claims Form is linked here, as is the live claims spreadsheet that will show the claims happening real-time. The form will only open when date claims start, but you can access the link beforehand.

Your posting team is determined by the artist's CODENAME as given to you in the RBB matching email.

The person claiming on behalf of a team needs to know their CODENAME and 3-5 posting dates to list in order of preference.

Posting dates will be allocated in the order that forms are received.

Teams that submit forms where all dates listed have already been picked will be asked to resubmit.

If your team has special requirements to due participant schedules, you must contact the event mods via email at [email protected] before April 24th.

Remember, only one person claims on behalf of their team.

Lovely of you two to host such a gift for Vessel! Just for clarification, when you say the Vessel book project result will be shown, you won't be showing any specific letter entries, right? Will those be kept private? On that sort-of same note, is there not a more anonymous way of sending in a letter submission? Is there consideration for a submission form, or would a dud/alt account to send it in on either platform be fine for this purpose? Of course nothing bad would be written, I'm just a tad anxious about sharing my thoughts. I also have been unsuccessful in getting a PDF to send via Tumblr DMs unless I save it as an alternate image file, so I'm not sure if that's what you meant in the post, or if I'm missing something? Apologies for the many questions!

This is a bit difficult since we want him to know his fans. You can add an alias, or you can add a certain letter. But we need something where we can contact you in case something goes wrong with your submission.

Since we are working from two different cities on it (and we are living kind of far away from each other), it is important to have your contact details (discord, tumblr username etc.) ready.

I can offer you that we can work on a solution together, if this isn't enough efford, we would like to work with you. You don't have to be anxious but I can offer you that we can work on this together, so I can give you feedback and stuff, whatever you need to be comfortable.

I added my discord (vesselsscarlet) but in case you don't have discord, we will open a separate E-Mail account, just for this project, otherwise it will be very hard to receive everything. The Tumblr direct was actually meant for digital artworks and questions.
