The Sibling Squad (Roxy’s Crew)

This particular thingy was something I came up with at some point at the very end of s1/very beginning of s2 (which is why the ages were retconned every so slightly at this point and Shirley didn’t start at Cloud Tower till season 3).

This is something I was very excited about and, even if very few of you care, I thought I might let you take a peek into my brain and see why I chose the siblings I chose for Roxy’s squad and what each one of them kinda represents/is a foil for.

I’ll go in the order that they were introduced in the series.

Starting off with!!!! Shirley.

I chose Shirley after building up her personality and I feel like she fits flawlessly in as the oldest of the squad. One reason I really wanted her there is for being a witch, to have a good witch tm (and also a fairy-witch romance but that’s neither here nor there) to show off the differences in the way they work.

Of course, there’s also the fact that Shirley has been really dependent on Riven for most her life and, aside from her brother, she’s been pretty much on her own and she’s also the youngest of her coven, so I thought that the dynamic of her suddenly being the oldest of a group she loves and feels responsible for could be very interesting.

Shirley is very protective, she wants to be the protector and not the protected when it comes to this squad, and I thought that could be a cool thing to explore, even if it’s more implied/observed than anything else.

I chose Shirley to be, perhaps not the leader, but the oldest and most protective of the group. You could say she’s almost the Stella of the group… but obviously not really.

Next up, Alexa. Alexa is Brandon’s little sister and I think I’d mentioned previously that she’s ever so slightly inspired by Alisson Argent from Teen Wolf, cause I loved her growing up and it just kinda fit with the character I pictured for Brandon’s sister.

I haven’t gotten to explore Alexa very much, I think she’s probably the least ‘known’ and with less ‘screentime’ in the sibling squad. I did however have her establish kinda what her main goal is in her first appearance in s4, that being to carve out her own place in Red Fountain and not just be recognized for her brother.

She wants to be her own person and, whilst she is incredibly proud of her brother, she doesn’t want to live in his shadow, thus why, she picks the bow as her main weapon, since her brother never excelled in that area, he was only ever ‘okay’ with the bow.

Alexa is probably one of the more outgoing in the group, she is very extroverted and she’s unapolagetic about who she is and what she wants. She grew up with Stella and Sky and learned a lot from both of them on how to just keep going and, just by watching them and her brother, she knows how to deal with different people.

Alexa is a leader, ambitious yet kind, and she will be (at least in battle) the leader of the sibling squad.

Then there’s Naten, who I think is one of the most beloved OC in the series.

Naten is the glue and heart of the group I feel, a farm boy with a heart of gold and more love than he knows what to do with.

He’s a jokester who hides a lot of his complexity behind his soft exterior. It’s not something he really does on purpose, he just doesn’t care how people may think of him or if they underestimate him for liking to joke around.

Like I’ve mentioned before he’s a bit of a jack of all trades and if there are 2 things that define him in Red Fountain it’s his versatility and his dedication. In his character moodboard, I mention that he has dyspraxia, and, despite having occupational therapy with his mom, who also has dyspraxia, he still struggles with it, so he tends to practice a lot to completely master every technique he can in Red Fountain.

Naten has layers, but his main traits are his dedication/stuborness and his love.

^All of them were introduced and had their personalities kinda written in profiles before I even had the idea for the sibling squad, so their ‘roles’ in the group felt very organic to me and were mostly happy coincidences. 

The final two are the ones that were written already knowing that they would be a part of this group.

I loved coming up with my version of Chimera. Making her a vulnerable, insecure girl and having her almost be a foil to Stella was just… ugh, light bulb moment for me, truly.

If you payed attention last chapter you may have noticed that Chimera seems to be getting more powerful. A lot of it is thanks to Stella giving her the staff but it’s also thanks to Chimera constantly practicing to be better.

Chimera has a dual role in the group. First, she’s the tank, the one with the power crawl that’ll eventually be a force to be reckoned with. She may seem a bit overpowered this last chapter but it was a very calm situation in which she had full control and already knew the environment and had created similar illusions there before, it wouldn’t exactly be the same in a fight.

Second, she’s the quiet one. She’s naturally introverted and a quite shy/socially awkward. Traits that were made worse after Valtor’s curse.

She’s 1 of the 2 introverts to balance out all the extroverts. She’s the studious one, the soft spoken one, that doesn’t always know how to stand her ground.

She’s also the one who was the loneliest and most isolated before joining the group, she feels a bit insecure about her spot in the group and is just happy to be included.

She’s learning to be a part of the group and is terrified of losing them.

Finally, the one I know you’ve all been waiting for, even though she isn’t technically a sibling, Roxy.

Roxy is the last to join the squad, and she’s the one who will truly bring them together. Cause, at the moment Alexa and Naten are the closest, and the others are more friendly than besties.

Roxy will be the missing piece to fully pull the group together.

Roxy will be the catalyst for the squad to truly become their own thing, to go from being the Sibling Squad, to Roxy’s Crew.

I won’t explain Roxy as much as the others since she’s already gotten a lot more screentime in 10 chapters than the others have had in 3 seasons.

Finally, some of you may or may not wonder why the whole Naten/Chimera mutual crush.

That’s mostly cause it’s cute and I came up with it on the spot when planning out their summer chronicle.

Then I truly stopped to think about it and realized once more, I am a fucking genius.

Chimera is insecure and doesn’t think much of herself, she’s working on herself and being true to herself, it’s logical she’d fall for a soft boy, a boy who wears his heart on his sleeve and is unapologetic about who he is.

Naten has more heart than anything else, yes, he at first glance, falls for Chimera’s looks (which by the way I thought it’d be adorable to have him fall for her first for her looks when Chimera has never felt pretty) and then he falls for yet another soft soul that is trying to be true. Who is just as dedicated as he is. 

They’re both triers. Both kids who have to practice time and time again because they don’t have natural talent, but they have an insane amount of determination. That’s something they can understand about each other.

So, going in age order; Shirley is the oldest and the protector.

Naten is the glue.

Chimera is the tank and the quiet one.

Alexa is the leader.

And Roxy is the missing piece.

And I… am very excited to explore them further and… their very first, full appearance, all 5 of them together will be in just two chapters, in chapter 17!!!

Meet The Seamstress!

Quite a long while ago, a young wizard just kicked out of magic academy found themselves in desperate need of company. Their only companion was a very rag-tag old plushie that they'd had since their hatchling days, and in an effort to apply their skill, they decided to try and animate their own familiar -- and succeeded! (much to their own surprise).

The Seamstress was her wizard's beloved companion of many years, eventually joined by other familiars said wizard chose to animate- her best friend being Fidget, an articulated dragon toy. Together with her creator, Seamstress helped to make the dilapidated tower they settled in a cozy home. She loved to assist said wizard in daily tasks, and was especially fond of being a book-finder for them, trotting about the grand library and returning with one book at a time.

Eventually, the wizard found themselves in old age and at peace with the life they had led. They passed on peacefully in their dreams, and in doing so, bequeathed their tower, magic, and legacy on to their dearest companion - The Seamstress herself.

Finding herself imbued with her old creator's magic, The Seamstress strove to make a safe home within the tower for all the familiars within it. And when she found herself feeling horribly lonely as the only soft toy familiar, she pulled out an encyclopedia of dragon species, tore down some of the wizard's old cloaks, and wrangled up some of the more sapient familiars to come together... and begin the monumental task of figuring out how to work a sewing machine.

The Seamstress is the creator and unofficial leader of the Agate Wizard's Tower's band of familiars. Over the years she's made a sizeable amount of plush dragons to befriend (even if to the detriment of the wizard's old wardrobe, curtains, and pillows) and together they live in (relative) peace in their secluded little tower :>

Oc-wise, I also have (Drumroll please).... STUFFING!

Stuffing is among the newest of the familiars, made in the image of a hatchling to better conserve on the gang's dwindling fabric supplies. She's easily exciteable, overly curious, and not too bright at the moment-- but she's all heart inside her cotton-wool chest, and she wears it proudly on her sleeve.

Of all the familiars created by the Seamstress, Stuffing is the only one that has taken a very keen interest in her work. Unbeknownst to the rest of the familiars, The Seamstress has been finding herself at peace, just as their wizard was-- and after centuries of living and creation, wishes to pass on her mantle to another. Stuffing is currently her first and only apprentice... And, she hopes, eventually her successor.

Toy Dragons in my clan are -- I guess an open concept? Feel free to make one, though I ask that you tag me so I can see! :) My general rules for them are:

The Seamstress is the oldest of them, and the creator of all of them

Stitched primary gene

The largest among them is only about 3ft tall. Guards are usually the biggest. More recent toy familiars are usually smaller, given dwindling fabric supplies.

Naming conventions usually follow sewing, knitting, crochet, or quilting terminology (i.e. Spindle, Spool, Thread, Thimble, Yarn, etc) But also can be anything.

Most toy familiars have a crystal, jewelry piece, or trinket inside their stuffing that acts as their 'heart.'

toy familiars must periodically imbue their heart with magic by eating or absorbing magic from spells, enchanted items, or other sources, to keep themselves animated. If they lose their magic, they will fall into a stasis-like hibernation, but retain all of their memories when they are awakened.

General materials include linen, velvet, cotton, silk, with wool, cotton, or down stuffing. Pebbles occasionally added for weight upon familiar's request.

As toy familiars don't hatch, typically what happens is an existing familiar goes to The Seamstress and is like 'i would like a baby/little sibling/friend' The Seamstress then helps them create a blank little 'first body' and animates it for them. As the new familiar grows into its personality, decides what it wants, and can communicate those wants, it and its parent/sibling/whatever will build it a new body to animate together, to its liking. The Seamstress then helps them transfer to this new body with her spells. As the new familiar wishes to grow, they can add more fabric onto themselves and shape themselves to their liking -- though this practice has recently become frowned upon given the lack of supplies.

Toy familiars are welcome to leave the tower for their own adventures as well!

I feel silly typing all this but I have been having fun. I will work towards building my perfect toy army <3

16. What are your writing strengths? Banter and character voice! The transcript project mostly means I've heard and read so much character dialogue that their voices are ingrained in my skull. I'm also told that I'm pretty good at grounding things in physical sensation.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I've always really struggled with head-hopping and under-explaining, I think.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I've never needed to, but it depends on the fic/language. If it's something the reader would already be familiar with like or a word or phrase, I'd write it in the language, but for longer lines or a full conversation, I would either summarize for the reader or write the conversation in italicized English.

i've shared kaiya before but anyway: some of this is a wip because this is essentially me revamping older ocs and I'm still reworking their stories

for example originally their magical girl mascots were little like orbs inspired by hanko-kun's haku-joudai but now they resemble teru-bozu

mini infodumps from left to right + design notes!

so basically their (yet to be named) story is a combo between a mahou shojo and an unidentified supernatural ... drama? Theres a few main parts: reincarnation exists in the world, the hometown/setting is called 'yureikikyo"(subject to change) and is home to a lot of graveyards and ghost stories. The magical girl characters are those that can see and communicate with ghosts and spirits. Their job as magical girls is to help keep spirits in check, moniter the balance between the two planes of existence, and help reincarnate souls that are stuck. Theres a bit more to it (like this weird side story thing that can be interpreted a number of ways, but is essentially a different story with different characters that are parrellls to the main ones)

kaiya!

the protag, I've shared her here before but anyway. Her color is pink, her symbol is an x and her bonus motifs are spiders and music

she's a new magical girl and is struggling with how the ghost world which was previously hers and hers alone being interrupted by the magical girl world. she spent a long time putting herself on a pedestal and socially isolating herself so the revelation that shes not alone challenges her worldview. shes sorta a jerk, but in a 'angsty teenager that is going through it and can get better' kinda way. She's depicted as cold-hearted, closed off and cruelly selfish with her peers. but as kind, cheerful, and caring when with spirits and ghosts. while she'd never admit it, most of her actions stems from anger against the universe. This anger fuelled source ends up hurting her as a magical girl

in the side story the character "Merci" resembles Kaiya. Who I'm not even sure how to begin to describe, she is one of a duo of characters who's premise is just 'a relationship so fucked up, like just manipulation and general horribleness from both sides'

Suika!

my beloved<3 she's the senpai magical girl, her color is green, her symbol is an upside down heart and her additional motif is skeletons and being hella attractive more traditional magical girl aesthetics like ribbons, pigtails, and hearts

She's also the adult of the group, I had to make up an imaginary school program thing so I could have her be graduated but draw her in the cute uniform, (basically I'm thinking being a small isolated town they only have a community college, so the post-graduation highschool program essentially provides students with additional resources for a higher education in exchange for assistance and work at the school)

suika's been a magical girl for a long time, shes at times can be a strict mentor. Shes pretty hard on Kaiya sense she sees her younger self in her and desperately wants to prevent her from downfall. she presents herself and is presented as close to perfect, disciplined, strong, responsible, and compassionate. But she struggles alot with her identity being built on her magicalgirlhood, and has a habbit of projecting on others and vise versa.

Joyuu!

the second oldest! his color is blue, her symbol a triangle and her bonus motifs are bats and flowers. Joyuu is a misfit that doesn't try to change that. She works at one of the local cemeteries and is softspoken and poetic. Their roles one of the ones thats changed most from the original so I'm still working it out. but bassically she willingly is sharing a body with a ghost. She's not as disciplinary, strict and mentor-y as suika, but unlike suika whos values are prone to falling apart with her emotions. Joyuu is very resolved. Their also transfem and nonbinary, (she/they/he) but the ghost he shares a body with uses they/it pronouns

joyuu is very reserved as a magical girl, she does her job well but unlike suika who really plays up the magical girl warrior aesthetic, Joyuu lacks these monologues of grandeur, their a lot more down to earth and logic based in their ideals as a magical girl. seeing it as a job where as suika really takes on the idea of this destiny of responsibility and heroics

koko

koko is the youngest, sorta too young. She's the tag-along little sister. (her 'first draft' actually was suika's younger sister) her color is purple, her shape a clover or flower if you prefer, and her motifs are black cats and kids drawings/arts and crafts) she's struggling with growing into her own person with her various role-models having such vastly different outlooks. she's sorta a mediator and provides a nuetrual perspective on things. all the characters are trying to preserve her childhood, while koko feels like her childhood isn't over yet

she's the least developed both in universe and out of universe: hopefully brainrot will hit so that can change tho

rowena cousland — dragon age: origins

so rowena is technically my second oldest oc (the honor of first belongs to silla 💕) but i’m listing her instead of silla because her story and personality has been consistent for the past ten years whereas silla has evolved!! rowena is proud, stubborn, and clever as the devil—and each of these traits have been both flaw and merit. her relationship with alistair is complex and tragic but mended with a bit of time.

kinasi irress — star wars

honestly ursula and jael were both strong competitors for most cruel oc, but kina takes the cake because, unlike the other two who cultivated strong affinities/bonds in their youth, kinasi has never known kindness. for over thirty years she lived in an environment of fear, hatred, and isolation. all she knew was the vie for power and all she knew was punishment if she failed the social climb. in a world of every-man-for-himself and please-your-master-or-fall-from-grace, community-centric skills such as teamwork, generosity, and emotional support were nonexistent, and so she never developed them. to be “mean,” which is putting it lightly, was just their nature. dog eat dog. need against need.

ellery lux — pillars of eternity

the sweetest weirdo who ever lived!! ellery is a druid who, after being separated from her parents, raised herself in the forest with no one but the creatures and sun-dappled greenery for company. everything she learned, she learned from the woods—tenderness a kind of virtue no human could have taught her. she’s decisive and gentle and accepting and doesn’t care for social conventions in the slightest AND!!! i love her so much 🌿🦌🤍

salylia dreneri — the elder scrolls: morrowind

she doesn’t mean to be this way, but she’s a stranger in a strange land and her former partner just framed her and there’s some freak talking to her in her head and she can’t help but put herself at a distance from everyone !! though she was always the cool, quiet one—tennebrae did most of the talking.

bright — dungeons & dragons

her true name eaki, bright was given to a halfling village deep in the bramblewood when she was just an infant. an odd combination, tiefling and halflings, but they understood social scorn and ostracization and accepted her completely. when her adoptive sibling fell mysteriously ill, bright, at the behest of the village herbalist, sought out an ancient forest entity, and struck a deal—the life of her sibling (and many boons) in exchange for a favor when the time comes. all this being said, she is not the wisest warlock around. bright is bright for her charm and silliness, not her brains.

this was another tough one between jael and cath, but jael won because she’s, in the most reductive of terms, a sexy evil experimentalist!! everyone already knows everything abt jael and how her cruelty is clinical and her wit is sharp as a knife from when i first played pwotr last year but i’ll never stop being obsessed with her!!!

Cara my beloved!! She’s my OC for a post-apocalyptic RP group I’m in and I love her sm <3 She’s a hunter from West Virginia who’s still trying to getting used to living in a (somewhat) civilized part of Boston after living in the literal Appalachian woods for a solid three years with her brother. I’m excited to write with her more !! She’s a sweet person but is still sort of closed off after so much has happened

Aerie is definitely one of my oldest ocs!! Skyrim was really one of the first rpgs I played and honestly I feel like she’s both gone through so many iterations but also stayed pretty consistent!! We love a wild girlie who the universe had to make her a short nord to balance out the whole dragon soul thing

Ethan Warren — Fallout: New Vegas

Some people deal with their issues in all sorts of ways; Ethan decided to deal with it by razing his hometown to the ground <3 Having his father be burned instead of crucified like the Legion normally would to not give him the satisfaction of dying like jesus is understandable given what an awful person Richard Warren was, but joining the Legion and staying for years is a bad move maybe 🤔

Merethel Lavellan — Dragon Age: Inquisition

This was tough between Merethel and Ophelia but I think he’s someone who’s got a quiet compassion to him. The role of inquisitor does chafe on him a lot with him being more comfortable behind the scenes and being with people one on one as a healer. But I think people tend to underestimate how intelligent he is at first with his gentle nature, because he definitely learns how to play the “game” of politics in his own right by the time of Trespasser (even if he is very eager to get rid of the Inquisitor title).

WOMEN! IN! STEM! Ophelia’s definitely the most intelligent; (I did actually give her a 10 in her Intelligence SPECIAL score). But I would say it’s pretty much all like science and medicine based intellect, and she’s the most comfortable in a lab or med bay than out in the Wasteland.

Let's begin....

As the sun's rays hit the marui of the infamous eldest son of Toruk Makto, he woke up with a gentle breeze against his face.

The light blowing of the morning breeze flew against the Metkayina clan, singing a calm melody throughout the maruis.

Y/n was one of the few people that woke up too. The oldest daughter of Olo'eyktan and Tsahìk, along being tsmuke to her Kurkung tsmukan Ao'nung and tsmuke Tsireya.

Stretching her arms and twisting her wrists around, her rare, violet eyes were slowly adjusting to the light outside, seeing the open sea and beautiful beach, a smile was plastered on her face. Just a 3 months ago there was a war, sacrifice, death, tears, wailing.

It's all gone now. She was scared for everyone, she was. But when she find out that Neteyam, her tsawke was shot.

She has gone crazy.

She searched for him around the area of 3 brothers rock, to find him with a crying Tsireya and saw Lo'ak jumping into the water.

And the she saw... Him.

She vehemently rushed with her ilu to the rock where her tsawke kop tanhì, lying there unmoving and lifeless eyes.

She begged Eywa for another chance for life

And Eywa answered her, she brought him back.

She shook her head as to removed those thoughts and gone back to the day.

She changed her loincloth and sea shell top, walked outside and jumped in the water, with a graceful manner.

But, someone was watching her. Gawking at her. Staring, gazing. At her.

(Not when she was changing but when she jumped.)

She didn't know. She was oblivious to it.

And there was he. Awoken by the calm, tumultuous waves that waved over and over again. He walked out of his marui, looked out and saw.... Her.

The most beautiful, intelligent, breath-taking, loving, caring woman he has ever met.

She was a disappointment in some eyes.

He knew it.

She knew it

Everyone did and still does.

I mean she was betrothed and to be mated to a Metkayina man, the 'best' taronyu in her clan.

While people praised 'Muìtxney', Ria hates him.

People see him as a strong, capable and a good hunter. But Ria? Nah she knows that under the façade he holds, he's and arrogant, narcissistic, self-absorbed prick, who demonised her reputation.

She is and excellent hunter, but also a great healer. She isn't a Tsakarem, that's Tsireya, Her little sister. She was supposed to be Olo'eyktan, but Muìtxney made sure for that to not happen, so the role was passed to Ao'nung. But was she mad about it? Angry? Frustrated? Sad?

No!

She was happy for her brother and she was happy to be free and didn't need to be Bethrothed to a 'vonvä, as she like to say.

Flashback✨

Ria and Neteyam met(not for the first time) after month when Neteyam and his family found a place to be in, uturu they had asked for. That night, he wasn't able to sleep on his mat, twirling and wiggling on his mat, until he had enough and quietly walked out. While he was walking he found a rock that looked quite comfortable to sit on. There were big leafs, filled with feathers and a woven blanket like thing.

He thought that people around here might do it so they would be comfortable just going to chill somewhere. So he laid down on, one arm behind his head and one leg crossed over the other, hearing the sound of waves and thinking about tomorrow. But his thought were interrupted when a loud sob escaped someone.

"Never do this never do that. You're the daughter of Olo'eyktan and Tsahìk, so act like it... Ohh how I hate this stupid life,literally just running away would make me feel bette-AHH"

A little scream escaped her as she saw someone laying on her rock which she didn't mind but it startled her and knew someone heard her mumbling, which she now felt embarrassed about.

"Uhh hi? " a little awkward chuckle left his mouth as he stared awkwardly at the girl before him who had eyes full of tears and a purple mark under her rib didn't go unnoticed.

"Hi..Neteyam.. " " Sup' Ria" you gave him a small smile which he returned

"Would it be alright if I shuffled right there? "

The beautiful girl pointed to an empty space, next to the awestruck boy.

"Yes, yes sure ".......

Comfortable silence overtook the awkward atmosphere, but they both felt the need to talk.

"Why did you come here? "

"Why did you come here? "

Both said at the same time.

A small laugh escaped the Olo'eykte as the late future Olo'eyktan just chuckled.

"Well... To answer your question, I'm just bored and I can't sleep, the waves are kinda loud. "

"You'll get used to it in no time, do not worry about it. "She knew the struggle I mean, when there's a storm the waves are frantic, aggressive and tumultuous.

"I hope so..... " he looked at her, then the bruise.

She noticed but didn't say anything, wanting to break the awkward atmosphere:

"Throw a theme about something, I'm bored and need a good talk".

"... Stars? " "sure, what you know about them? "

"Well... There are different types of stars. There's like this smaller red ones that live a long live. And there's yellow-orange ones that have a life spawn of 5-10Billion years or something, and there's massive blue ones that have a short life, for a star anyway, but the red ones can also be massive too. "

She was kinda shocked at the knowledge that the boy had. In her clan the boys wouldn't talk so passionately about stars. They would just say 'they're massive balls of fire' but Neteyam had a knowledge about them. And he knew way more.

She loved the stars. They bought her comfort and safety space. She would spend hours looking at them, studying them.

And so did Neteyam. Even though the future Olo'eyktan didn't like the tawtute, he still have gone there to Norm and Max, the ones that have been friends with him, his father and his mother. The only tawtute he tolerated including Spider. He often would go to lab to ask for... Telescope to watch different stars. One time on accident he found a new nebula which meant he could name it himself. The scientists were impressed by Neteyam so they let him name it. He called it "tìyawn" the love he held for stars was huge amount of love.

"You have a good knowledge with them....mighty warrior " he groaned and she giggled like the oare kop tsawke

"Who said that... " covering his face with hands as he became embarrassed and didn't want to look in her face, to only find a face full of judging and all, thinking that all the good things she did was just a facade that she brought upon her face, and even though he felt an electric shock on his hands, he still had them glued to his face.

But she knew why he hid his face and regret was the only thing she felt in the depths of her heart.

She held her hands to his face even though there's a size difference she still held them in hers and pulled them towards her so she could see his face.

"Neteyam.... I'm sorry if I upset you, even though sorry won't do shit, I still am. And to answer you question, Lo'ak said it.

"That little skxawng"

Neteyam thought to himself knowing that his brother said Neteyam's least favourite nickname of all the time.

"Hey... Don't break your head over it, I think it's a cute nickname. " she was genuine it's a really cute nickname.

He felt like 20 nantangs were in his stomach. But that took a quick turn, to him becoming bold with his words.

"I mean you could give me a better one..No? "

She sarcastically put a finger on her chin, which made her cringe a bit, because of the sting under her last rib on right side.

"Hmmm... *she looked him up and down with squinted eyes and finally said: " Teyam...if it's for a tough situation and Nete if you're cuddling with someone. "

Yes, she imagined them cuddling.

"... You wanna call me Nete? " (The Sully Rizz is unlimited and was rizzing😏)

"Uhm, " she wanted to because she really wanted to talk to someone about... A certain situation... And Neteyam looked really trustful and acted trustful too.

"You don't have too-" before he could finish his sentence, she jumped on him, putting a hand on the back of his head, just to be sure it hit the pillow-like thing, and laid on chest.

He was shocked, hah shocked is a weak word. He was AWESTRUCK LITERALLY ASTONISHED FLABBERGASTED.

but most of all, excited (no not like that you dirty minded skxawng)

He was so happy but scared that she might hear his accelerating heartbeat.

"Nete, calm down your heart is about to jump out of your chest. " she really tried to hide her chuckle, she really did.

"Sorry yawne" The Sully Rizz is rizzing fr

She didn't say anything just stopped breathing for a second. Or 5.

"So... Uhm.. Uhm whathappenedtoyourrib? "

"Huh? Sorry I didn't quite catch that. "

What did he say?

Neteyam sighed, being curious is one thing, worrying is another.

"I don't wanna make you uncomfortable or anything but... What happened to your rib? "

He looked down at her face that turned from confused to sad. Her ears went down and her little smile dropped.

"Well.. You know Muìtxney right? " she asked as tears started swelling in her eyes.

".. Yea your Betrothed " His ears twitched a little as he said the most heart breaking words.... But then realisation hit him like a strong lighting to the soil of Pandora.

"Yeah... Well he kind of grabbed me from behind in front of my parents and his own to show that we have some 'chemistry' but when I tried to wriggle out of his hold he on purpose tightened it and pressed his thumb really hard on my skin and that's when I back away from him with my strength but the parents looked shocked so they said their farewells to my mom and dad not to me and left and then- Oh I'm sorry... Am I talking too much? " When she looked at him she saw his face, replaced with anger and wrath, but when she asked him his gaze softened and he put his hand on her cheek which she gladly accepted, and said "You're definitely not so continue, I'm angry at that fucker "

He was so angry he would kill him on the spot of he had to.

"And then my parents argued with me. "The swelling of tears was there again, even if she tried to suck them in she couldn't, they were streaming down her face on repeat like some rhythm.

Neteyam hugged her tightly as she cried into his chest.

"I'm so sorry yawne. I'm gonna kill that bastard"

When she looked in his eyes she saw the Sun.

Bright, welcoming, kind, protective, loving.

When he looked in hers he saw the Moon

Mysterious, kind, protective, shy, loving.

"Thank you for this ma Neteyamur

"No problem ma Ria"

They saw the tanhì in each other's eyes.

The most beautiful they have ever seen.

Not even the Pleiades, the seven Sisters were as beautiful them,they both thought, not even a star cluster that they saw sometimes on their late night walks in the forest.

He was mesmerised with her violet eyes.

She was mesmerised with his golden eyes

FEW MONTHS LATER

"You know.... Staring is rude... "

"it is not rude to look at a woman that has eyes more beautiful than stars themselves. "

She blushed so deeply that even the akula's outside the reef could see it.

But, there's always something, or more likely someone that has to ruin the romantic mood.

"NOW, that's some W rizz big bro"

Lo'ak...

"Bro.. Be for real now. " annoyed and embarrassed, Neteyam, spoke.

"Nah man, I didn't know you were such a poetic person. How did, dad call him.. *snaps fingers* Sheak.... Shae... SHAKESPEARE. Yeah, you're like a tall Na'vi Shakespeare. "

Lo'ak was really going to see Eywa tonight.

"Who's that? " Ria asked, as the name was pretty much foreign and not Na'vi to her.

"He's like an author, a writer that wrote these plays, my father said that he's well known on Earth even after gazillion years. " replied Neteyam.

"Wow he must have been famous then. "

"And he is. Bro the best story that dad explained to us, that was from Shakespeare was the Tempest. There was a witch called Sycorax that was mother to a indigenous monster, that was imprisoned by a man called Prospero who came with his daughter and-"

Neteyam wasn't having it. He also didn't notice the look of interest in Ria's stare.

She wanted to know Shakespeare's plays.

Neteyam didn't notice it though, so he stopped his brother mid-sentence and said.

"ok bro we get it. Scram off now. " "Look who's talking. Mr. Macbeth. "

Neteyam's favourite is Macbeth.

And Lo'ak hates Macbeth. (this is just for the story.)

"I'm not Macbeth, Macbeth is Macbeth now go. "

He continued but in English so Ria downs know what he has to say.

"Bro you're ruining my date with all that Shakespeare shit. STOP IT AND GO TO YOUR GIRLFRIEND OR GO ANNOY KIRI. "

Ria felt awkward asf. She didn't know what they said, but she didn't say a word.

"Well big bro. I'm going. And you ain't gonna see me for the next few hours cuz bro. I got a new homie.

Yeah... His name is Rotxo and you don't know him. "

Lo'ak was faking being upset to guilt trip Neteyam but... Did it work?

"I definitely know Rotxo. Kiri is in a Romantic Relationship with him, if you didn't notice. And he has been my friend for the few months we've been here. "

Neteyam was getting tired of it and he's definitely thinking of a murder.

Lo'ak kissed his teeth before saying something that was interrupted by Ria.

(Lo'ak will now speak in Na'vi)

"Bro, why you gotta steal my homies,? Dad said it's bad so please leave Rotxo alone, cuz I for real will-"

"LO'AK!. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF THE GREAT MOTHER SHUT UP AND GO. "

Yes she shouted. Neteyam was stunned and nearly pissed himself when he got a little scare.

"YES MA'AM"

Neteyam wasn't the only one that got scared though.

Lo'ak left. As quickly as he came there, with his tail between his legs.

"Now.... Where were we? " Neteyam nearly missed the flirty tone that she had as she said 4 words. The politeness she had is a gift.

He met many women from Omatikaya clan, this clan and even the Tipani clan when he was at a meeting with his parents.

"Umm.. We were at... You being beautiful tanhì. "

He was really being bold in the damn morning.

"Well thanks, but guess what happened. " she was really scared and angry and annoyed. Why?

"What? ".. Neteyam got really worried as he saw that her eyes gone more bloodshot and that there were little tears that were threating her beautiful aquatic skin. The look in her violet eyes told him that it's something really serious, which made him think about the.... Betrothal....

"No. No. Yawne please tell me it isn't what I think. Please yawntutsyìp" He was praying and begging Eywa for this to be a dream, one of his nightmares that he sometimes has.

"I got one week before me and that 'vonvä muntxa si"

Fuck.

He couldn't think straight. The only thing in his mind was taking her to a cave and confessing his feels for her, that collected in his heart like a full storage of pictures and photos, moments with your most favourite person, the funniest memes and cutest moments stored into his mind, but with her.

"I'm so sorry Neteyam. "

She felt guilty. But for what? She didn't do anything, she didn't cheat, she love him, yes she does, but, why is she apologising? She doesn't know that herself. She felt guilty for nothing? Or was it because her soul, her heart and her body belonged to him and she could feel it? The warm heat that spread through her body whenever he touched her arm or whenever his tail brushed against her leg, she could always feels the heat spreading on her cheeks, making them purple. She love him and she knew it.

"RIA TE ALTU RONAL'ITE COME HOME ALREADY. " She heard her mother's voice ring through the beach like a frequency that was set badly on a walkie-talkie.

"I'm gonna go now, see you later Neteyam"

She turned and walked, step by step on the beautiful beach, curls hanging low one her slim waist some of her hair in little braids hanging around the kuru, shielding in like a cage would hold a lion, or how her family is holding and caging her feelings in.

She hoped that he would say 'stay'

But did he?

"Ria.... Wait. " he grabbed her arm gently and whispered near her ear, so only they could hear it. "Come at this place, when the moon hits the highest point on sky, where the eclipse hits like a light and when you hear my voice, come and follow it. I wanna show you something I discovered"

'It was today or never'

She smiled gracefully and sheepishly as she walked back, but when she turned her foot, the neutral facade broke in and she walked up to her mother.

Your Oldest OC:

That title would probably have to go to Rynne! I’ve had her for several years now, and she originated as a cringe sona-but-not-it’s-like-me-but-a-sadist-with-a-scythe sorta characters. Gosh, she’s so old, I have no relevant art to show of her!

Your Newest OC:

It’s been a while since I’ve developed a truly new OC…so it’d have to be Drisco and Castarian. They debuted in the mind at the same day, but Castarian made an appearance later so technically he’s the newest!

Favorite OC:

I don’t have an overall favorite… but I do pick and choose favorites from each story I have. A couple of my favorites include Maroon, Jay, Switch, Dislan, and Rynne.

Any Villain OCs?

Plenty! Outlander, of course, but we can’t forget Dhá-Aghaidh, Jynx, or Dr. Kruger, now can we?

Main Reason For Making OCs:

Mostly for story reasons that spawn. However, I do have fandom OCs, (and some of them happen to be the most well-known!) but I will inevitably end up working them into a story. OCs spawning from roleplay is a rare sight, and it’s only happened once… believe it or not, that’s how Karmin came into existence!

Describe Your Character Creation Process:

Step 1: Concept for a silly guy comes into my brain.

Step 2: Come up with a basic design for them to be changed later.

Step 3: Inflict soul-crushing pain.

Step 4: Have so much fun inflicting pain that I have to remind myself that it’s supposed to be a story. Suffer without coming up with actual story elements.

Step 5: Receive divine inspiration and everything comes together and I’m so fucking back baby.

Repeat Steps 5 and 6 until done.

Fav OC Ship:

Castarian and Drisco. They’re not a couple, but they have feelings for each other. They each blame each other for their deaths and refuse to see the other’s way. They separated themselves and feel the crushing loneliness l, but when they’re together they can’t stop arguing.

Drisco wants nothing more than to HURT Castarian, but only HE can hurt him, no one else, since he is the only person Castarian has wronged.

Castarian hates Drisco’s facades, violence, and methods, but those are what helped him in life. Drisco holds the power to make Castarian feel good about himself… and he’s dependent on that.

Do You Ship Your OCs With Someone Else’s OCs:

For everyone else who doesn’t know, my OC Jaide gets to be in a doomed yuri with Sky (the asker’s OC!! Hi Marci <3)

But I do have quite a few characters shipped with those belonging to @corrupted-tale. Like my OC Dislan and her OC Pix. And my Narrator with her Lady Luck.

Weirdest OC:

I’d have to say Bi Solomon earns that title. He’s a fascist furry who reinvented capitalism in a post-apocalyptic world. (And by furry I do mean he’s a Creature btw).

Favorite OC Design:

I REFUSE to let that achievement go to Drisco so Night! ILY Night!!!! You’re so cool and gender and badass!!

Not the greatest picture of it, since it actually has 4 arms and a cool-ass sickle… but oh well.

An OC You’ve Killed:

The easy answer are OCs like Jaide, Levi, Drisco, and Castarian, since they’re ghosts and that’s their whole gimmick.

It’s actually rare for me to kill off OCs and leave them forever, since I feel like they die before their potential is fulfilled. But the previously mentioned fascist furry Solomon dies (good riddance), and I have a pantheon of gods that get slaughtered in a different story!

Are Any Of Your OCs Parents:

Besides Jaide, I do have some others! I have a royal family group of OCs, with King Leonard and Queen Beatrice being parents to a chaotic group of kids.

Dr. Kruger, while not physically being a dad, is burdened with being a single father as punishment for being too William Afton core.

Are There Any OCs You Find Yourself Neglecting:

Each OC has gotten their time in the spotlight, but I haven’t developed all of the characters from that royal family. And I have waning interest if the cast of Ora and the Rift in Time…

There are concept OCs I neglect since I dunno what to do with them. Like Brittlebrine. He started off as a cool concept for exactly one day and then I never thought about him again. And I’m still conflicted on Devon…..

An OC that’s difficult to write/draw/rp:

Vipsi’s hard to write, despite having little screentime. She lost her mind, but I don’t entirely know how to write insanity arcs. Not to mention that I didn’t really know how their story should go…

My entire godly pantheon is difficult for me to draw (except for Lux, since I’ve had her design figured out). I don’t have finalized designs for some of the less important gods, but the design ideas are difficult…

Out of the few OCs I’ve roleplayed, Karmin has been the most difficult (which is ironic, considering she originated from one). I have to actively consider what is going on in her brain and how to present it in a good way. But it’s okay since she’s only ever been in two rps ever.

Your Tallest & Shortest OCs:

My shortest is probably Gemi! He’s less than 4 feet tall. Truly a little guy.

And my eldritch being OCs are the tallest. In their most incomprehensible forms, they’re about 40-70 feet tall? It fluctuates, since they’re impossible to comprehend. But they’re very large.

Your Oldest and Youngest OCs:

As much as I’d like to say my youngest is Levi, he was born 500 years before Masked present! That means that Ora is likely my youngest, being 7 or 8.

Just like with height, my eldritch being OCs take the cake for being the oldest. They’re all billions of years old, except for Thirio and Tsumi. Epithymia is the oldest of them all, but if Nova were still alive, he would’ve won the crown.

Do You Dislike Any Of Your OCs?

Have You Ever Made A Self-Insert?

Oh yeah. My sona Doodle doubles as a self-insert when I don’t want to make an entirely new character with a flat personality since they’re based on me.

Branching off of Doodle thanks to some sort of evolution is a self-insert named Sketch. Sketch is what happens when I want to ship myself with characters, but they will be the star of the SPM fic I have planned!

An OC Regret:

I have OCs that spawned from ideas that I didn’t fully know how to handle well, or problematic media. They were all from when I was younger, though, so all is forgiven and those OCs have been sent to the fiery oblivion.

I have... about twelve other things I should be doing, most of them grad school related but the tadpole speaks to me and I must answer so here's some information I've been scrounging together for my Tav

I've been developing him as an OC for about three years now and he is my beloved boy (even though he's about twice my age lmao)

Alignment: Neutral Good? with a bit of chaos sprinkled in there maybe

Gender/Sexuality: Gay man, he/him

Astrological Signs: Leo Sun, Pisces Moon, Pisces Rising

Romancing: Astarion. Of course.

I'm thinking he would be very close with Wyll prior to the game plotline or shortly into it just based on their similar upbringings

I do not know any DnD lore and I am currently not able to get a crash course in it so if anything I say about him contradicts it, don't tell me <3

Some fun facts about him!

Oldest of three siblings, has a younger brother Hakim and younger sister Eufemia

Part of a huge family on his mother's side, the D'Oria are an ancient established family with many many family members

He doesn't get along with his mother and travels as much as possible to avoid going home and back to his duties as the oldest son, however at this point she's all but disowned him and focuses on Hakim instead

His instrument of choice is a guitar gifted to him by his favorite aunt when he was a teenager that he would protect over his own life

Trained in sword-fighting as a teenager/young adult with his uncle, a world-renowned swordsman

Makes his own clothes more often than not

Technically needs glasses especially when it comes to reading and seeing at night, but refuses to wear them

Has a very friendly disposition that most people might assume is learned from years of nobility events, but he's just genuinely kind

Is not great with any kind of magic on his own, but can be used as a channel for others' magic

However, he has almost supernatural luck, which tends to rub off on those he spends the most time with after a while

Anyway, here he is, hopefully this will soothe the tadpole for a bit until I can sit down to write fic for him and Astarion

The Favorite

I don't think this comes as a surprise to anyone. Faith is so very dear to me she is quite literally a part of myself. She brings me so much comfort and has been an outlet for me for the past like? 3 years?? Gosh look at how far she's come. She helps remind me that everything is going to be okay.

The Oldest

While technically I have some ocs that are even older than her, Cookie is my first self insert lmao. Nowadays I don't think any but a couple of y'all would even know who she is and that makes me a lil sad! She's very special to me and was very beloved by people who meant a lot to me. Very few know me and her story well enough to see how on the nose it is an escape from my own life. Not shown here but she has burn scars on her right wrist/forearm. An exaggeration of my own burn scar in the same place. Cookie has always been there as a way to not feel alone, to see myself in someone who has been through similar experiences and made it out through the other side. To remember why it's so important to keep fighting.

The Newest

Okay maybe not the newest.. but Iris is the newest oc I've actually been putting a lot of time and love and effort into! I love her a lot! I know I still don't talk abt her as in depth as I would like to but I swear she's got more going on than I share. I just can't help wanting to draw her so self-indulgently full of love all the time, it makes me happy to have silly fun! I really really have been meaning to doodle her more vulnerable and serious moments because she's got a lot of grief in her heart she isn't letting out.

The Meanest

I suppose she was going to have to make her debut sooner or later.. okay but I genuinely don't have much to say abt Poppy. She's been a priv exclusive oc for a lil while and she's not developed.. like.. at all.. I ramble about her a LOT but I'm also literally every day scrapping everything bc my ideas are constantly changing so she's fr not ready yet lmao. Even I don't fully know what her deal is yet! But I can confirm she is the most ruthless (should I admit she's my lowkey nuka-world raider oc I made specifically to fuck Porter Gage nasty as hell likeeeee)

The Softest

Maril is my BABY!! She does not have a mean bone in her body and the closest she'll ever get is when she's defending her friends! She's so generous, she wants to help others any chance she gets and sees the best in everyone.

The Most Standoffish/Aloof

Faith is quite reserved, honestly. Becoming Captain wasn't exactly the life she chose for herself but it was the role she had to take on. For Phin, for her crew, for Halcyon, it was something she would grow to take seriously in time. She doesn't like to let on just how stressed and overwhelmed she is until she crashes and burns and has to be forced to rest before her stomach ulcer incapacitates her (speaking from experience, it's excruciating). When allowed to, she's pretty quiet and keeps to herself. She was never exactly the most social person and struggled to maintain any sort of relationship with anybody. She'll eventually warm up to her crew and come out of her shell. Sometimes you just need to meet the right band of misfits who get you.

The Smartest

I swear this isn't just me tooting my own horn. I genuinely built her character favoring her intellect and charm. Her highest levels were in engineering, science, and medical. She's got a head on her shoulders, and she's often pretty lost in it. Faith loves to build and tinker with things and loves reading and learning as much as she can. One her own comforts, really. Maril and Iris aren't necessarily too far off on this one, Faith just has a little more under her belt. (Maril is also dedicated almost exclusively to being a gummi ship mechanic and Iris is best at carpentry!)

The Dumbest

Poppy is by no means a moron and shouldn't be underestimated. But her skills and knowledge are very strong in fighting and survival. She does however qualify as my dumbest oc here because.. she was my melee heavy idiot savant build! Girl never at any point got a single level put into her INT lmao.

The One I'd be Friends With

Hands down Maril would be the bestest friend I could ask for. She would be so sweet and considerate and let's be real.. I'd want to also work on the gummi ships with her. I love my gals but I just know Maril would be a ray of sunshine and a great friend. She'd also love to listen to me talk abt all my own projects and we could build so many cool things together..

Ankh/Lav. I played favorites since I created this space and I have no problem exposing my horrible self lol She's the perfect person for me, always challenging herself without being afraid of failure. Even if she has some terrible flaws, she does her best to process them in a mature way. Writing her helped me a lot coming to terms with some things in my personality that I despised :'D she pesters influences the two realms of being, basically. Also she's gorgeous, isn't she? *pinches cheeks* bella de mamma 💛

Newest OC:

HER. The icon, the legend, the witch of the needle. Adra, trans-woman, city elf, much bitch, such stylist. She calls people by titles she invents on the spot based off their personality (which is a thing that cannot be transferred into the english language since titles aren't a thing ;; sigh), she's one that states what's wrong with you right in your face, and she's constantly in pain because of her job - one day is her back, the other it's the eyes, but somehow humidity is always involved. She calls herself old but she's not that old, like, she's in her 60s << anyway, she takes advantage of it a lot for her own entertainment. Coming from the Denerim alienage for then moving to Highever, she has had all the experiences one can think of so she appears a bit skeptical when it comes to big scale projects born from righteous ideals. However she seems to believe in the Inquisition. Well, she trusts its leader and her work, but she's a fereldan through and through so she's leaning more on a "I'm gonna judge the overalls when I see the results" attitude. So far, she's satisfied, but she'll never express it. Queen Anora #1 fangirl.

Oldest OC:

Rhian, daughter of Beathan ...who at the beginning was a Lord of the Rings OC but then she turned into something I'm using for a personal project with a medieval fantasy setting, so now she's running free and untied from a beloved franchise :'D weee There is some bisexual awakening going on but it's actually a story about found family, gender roles, and honesty. I'll get back to it at some point. Hopefully. She's the Mulan of my roster, pretending to be a man to join the local army and having to deal with a big menace while questioning her faith on authority. She's very brave, caustically sarcastic, an average soldier, and has loud opinions that always put her in trouble. Also she's a capricorn, she can open jars and she will let you know until she dies.

Meanest OC:

Lenore fucking Shepard WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED LMAO She's manipulative, controlling, outright nasty towards pyjaks, and would 100% push you towards the zombie horde as bait if that means she gets to save herself plus her squad. She does have a few reedeeming qualities but it's not even slightly enough to grant her a "maybe she's good on the inside" consolation prize. To be fair, she's the most emotional character of the bunch, super sensitive towards children and people that can't fight for themselves. The ones she likes, yeah, but still! Hands down my favorite store on the Citadel <3

Softest OC:

Absolutely him. Mr. Rivelli. Wiccan, chemistry genius, chainsmoker, incapable of interfacing himself emotionally with those surrounding him. He's quite the introvert, but he daydreams like a pro and he's very passionated about his interests. He can't look at people in the eye, but he's the most loving and communicative plant dad one could think of <3 He's a soft boy, he just has a lonely nature. He's part of a project called "The Wedding Planner", it's a boy meets boy story, both of the main characters are in their thirties and there's a "what am I doing with my life" type of approach to the plot. It's a 30 years old / mid life crisis type of story, basically, with a wedding. The wedding is important. Very. It makes it cheesy. We worship cheese in this household.

Most Aloof/Standoffish OC:

Absolutely him, and it's a coping mechanism. Castor "Cass" Actius never shows emotions because he bottles all them up. And it's a long bottle - he's very tall. I was torn between soft and aloof in this case, but he's definitely one that acts like he's the calmest but in truth he's screaming internally all the time. Probably one of the characters I can relate to the most lol He's all legs and sugars, has a thing for tea, he's the fourth of four siblings and probably the most well adjusted out of them - which says a lot about the state of his family considering he's clinically depressed and an addict << He's a great leader, calm and detached, also he doesn't seem very approachable at first. At second as well, and at third, and at... But he's a cool person with big mom energy. If you're under his command, prepare to be scolded frequently, but also to be defended strenuosly in front of his superiors because you're perfect and you did nothing wrong, never in your life!! Best baker of the bunch, sorry Hawke.

Dumbest (affec-- lmao they wish!!) OC:

These three. They all trusted the apostate. On a scale from Stupid to "I trampled on my feet and now the kitchen is on fire" however, Ela is definitely the one sitting on the ambulance with a blankie on her shoulders. Here, have a banner all for yourself, dumbelina <3

Although I'm talking about that kind of stupidity that makes you look like a fool during situations that require a little bit of foresight or planning. She basically winged some of the most important decisions during the Blight, the others were taken because of her strong sense of honor and justice, but like You can't apply that all the time and then go surprised pikachu face when people call you out for being impulsive.

Smartest OC:

Him. Hands down. Serge "Twinkles" R'lyeh. He's MacGyver with the sensitivity of Tori Amos, also he's your therapist and your sugar daddy at the same time. He's an aerospace engineer turned infiltrator turned spy turned college teacher turned practical fx specialist turned distinguished officer during the war turned loving husband and best uncle... Like, there's so much to him! He lived a tons of lifetimes at once because he's talented brilliant incredible amazing showsto-- Probably the second favorite, because he seems like he's perfect but he has a problem taking responsibilities. He's also very childish, egocentric, he second guesses you as if it was a competitive sport when it comes to things he can do better, and his mouth is the envy of every sailor from here to the Attican Traverse - because he swears a lot but also for the other reason *cough* I kinda loved having to deal with someone that was on top of many skills, it made so much room for planning a big downfall <3 oh, and he fell. Hard. I'm gonna stop but know that I would keep writing about him for other 30-40 paragraphs, gushing and blabbering incoherently because he's my special self absorbed space kitty, trust me on that. I'll just say that he built a working real life deluminator when he was a fluff. he smort

Also, they're the ones I'm the least afraid of. On a more serious note, they have a huge deal of compassion and care; he's an empath, she's an active listener. Also I vibe with creative people that show a huge passion for what they're doing, plus I wouldn't mind having to bury some animal bones from time to ti-- cook and bake. I like to roam around the kitchen with my friends and talk about whatever. We talk a lot in this household <<

some notes uhh,, so this is a very quick and messy suggestion of what i’d think their names are!! also idk if Rook is actually French in some way or if he just likes the French language (ew), but i chose French names regardless for this. these are just ideas!! also my research for some of these were done very quickly so they may not be the most accurate, just an fyi!!

the eldest. Delroy is a French name associated to the word king, with roy being a different spelling of the French word roi (which means king). since king is the chess piece that determines the winner or loser, Delroy would be the oldest.

— ARTÉMIS HUNT

the second eldest, named after the Greek goddess of hunting, the moon, and maidens (among other things). Artemis in mythology had a band of women (and sometimes men) who served her (so yes, Riordan’s Hunters of Artemis tale is based on real myth), so she is akin to a leader or even a queen. that’s why i chose this name and placed it as the second oldest, on par with the Queen chess piece. (disclaimer: although Artemis isn’t seen as a queen officially/literally, she was a divine leader who had assistants and the like. that’s why i made the connection!)

ok i’m ngl, i struggled with choosing this name. i debated on choosing the name of a famous French knight, but it seems like many of the names that came up were involved in the Crusades so… no 😭 as such we’re going with a character who’s a badass knight (hello Jean Gunnhildr my beloved <3). although the pronunciation of the name is different (idk how to spell it out phonetically 😭)

i’d make them a twin of Jean, since the bishop and knight are apparently quite equals in chess? umm. so bishop in French translates to “évêque” (and also “fou” which means lunatic/maniac). even though the accents on the Es are different, i think Ève is a pretty name.

according to wikipedia, “pawn” is from the Old French word paon, which in turn is a cognate word for peon. Peony is also a flower and i just thought it would be a cute name for the youngest of the Hunt family <3 plus, the last chess piece is called the pawn, so it fits well i think.

🌻 She's the oldest of the Kageyama trio and she basically raised her sisters from the age of 8. Then, at 18, poor dear got yeeted to ancient Hisui by the little poke-bitch Hoopa. Went straight from being a pseudo mom to fighting for survival in the rural past. Oof. 🌻 She landed slightly over a decade before the events of PLA and got brought into the Diamond clan shortly afterwards; then was taught how to survive by the guy who'd become her husband a few years later. (who also currently has no name, lol) 🌻 Aaaaaand then she lost that husband about 6 years into the marriage to a wild pokemon attack. Honey just can not catch a single break. 🌻 (All in all, she's stuck in Hisui for like. 15 years before getting back to present day. Almost half her damn life.) 🌻 It's not all bad, though, because Kana is secretly a bit of a girly girl and has found ways to reclaim what little bit of her early youth that she can, as well as build her own sense of identity away from taking care of her sisters - so... weirdly she might be the most well adjusted?? of the three??? 🌻 She likes flowers almost as much as Reina does; she loves embroidering her clan tunic with cute designs and adding little sparkly bits of crystal or metal; she adores hair accessories; she figured out how to make something like perfume out of beeswax and fragrant plants; she likes to stain her lips and cheeks with berry juice. (She forages, though, so she never manages to keep her nails long like she likes them to be.) 🌻 Melli is her ride or die bestie and they meet up every week to gossip over tea. 🌻 She is a sweet, soft, gentle flower with the Ultimate Disproving Mom Face(tm) if you manage to piss her off enough to dry up her utter ocean of patience. The very incarnation of "don't mistake my kindness for weakness."

🌻 Kana specializes in water, electric, and flying types (with a secret dark typing accidentally tossed in), and with only the dark types as exceptions, all of her pokemon are named after weather patterns. 🌻 Her starter was a squirtle named Umi, who never evolved past wartortle due to a combination of limited resources and the desire for stealth and maneuverability in Husui.

🌻 She also has a jolteon, an alteria, a flaffy, a merkrow, and a (non-Hisuian) sneasle - though the sneasle is still a baby and doesn't do any fighting.

🌻 Kana's ace, however, the team member she doesn't even tell people she has, is her alpha gyarados, Taifu. She saved Taifu's life as a magikarp back in modern-day Sinnoh, and then when they got eebie deebied to Hisui, Taifu stress-evolved in order to protect Kana. (She must have had some kind of latent alpha genes in her, because Taifu is a BIG mama!)

!!! oh oh brian my beloved!!!!!! yessss okay so he is one of the two main characters of my current wip novel (the other one is his qpp xeno, they/them). here is a lil snippet thingy i made abt them (plus FANFIC FROM ONE OF MY MUTUALS OMG) and here is a post i made abt the story recently and here is my tag for the wip as a whole.

brian is aroace and autistic and adhd (xeno is a non-SAM aro and also autistic, they are also SO beloved). brian is also a wizard who does magic <3 and he has a suuuper fucked up magic wizard family (who currently have semi-disowned him for being aro </3). he has 8 siblings, 3 older and 5 younger, and he loves them all so much (the oldest two ah. do Not deserve it though. they are both very manipulative and emotionally abusive). brian is 23; his siblings range from 28 to 9 years old. his arc in the book will be basically. a race between his slowly developing awareness that his family is abusive and he needs to cut them off, and his deeply instilled self-sacrificial instincts leading him to put himself in dangerous situations to protect his younger siblings and xeno. so just. whether he will properly work up the courage to choose himself and leave before he gets himself killed or not. we shall see :)))))

hOWEVER angsty plot aside he and xeno are SO beloved and they love each other sm in a way that is wholly divorced from allo nonsense <333 they were roommates in their junior year of college and became qpps in their senior year, and the book takes place about a year and a half after that. brian is biiiiig and tall and chonky and soft (xeno is fairly average height, but that's still short enough for brian to rest his chin on top of their head <3), and he usually has some stubble because both facial hair and shaving are Sensory Bad things for him so it is just a constant battle between which is worse (xeno is always very cleanshaven bc facial hair gives them dysphoria). he usually wears a weighted vest + tshirt + jeans. he probably didn't know he was autistic growing up, which means he developed some stims that hurt himself without knowing what he was doing (specifically he tends to chew his hands and also dig his fingernails into his skin rlly hard) and then the habit got super ingrained, but now he is working on it and xeno is also looking out for it and helping him find other stims that are better <333 he has a chewy necklace now!!!! and some nice squishy rubbery stim toys he can dig his nails into instead <33333 he also has a cat named Critter!!!! they are very small. he also rlly likes vocal stimming (which can be a lil bit of a problem bc xeno is very sensitive to sound, but they've gotten pretty good at accomodating each other) and audio stims (he likes rlly loud rhythmic music for stims, musical theater soundtracks for when he's feeling depressed and nostalgic, and things like AJR and owl city for when he's just listening to music regularly) (xeno is a podcast person and rarely listens to music, and when they do it is normally music without lyrics). he rlly likes Textures and Sensations as a general rule. he loves to stim with xeno's hair (they have an undercut dyed purple), it's v cute, they'll snuggle next to each other on the couch while xeno is like reading a book or whatever. he also loves to give & receive top-of-head and forehead kisses, but most other kinds of kisses are a no-go for him bc he is both romance and sex repulsed and feels like most other kinds of kisses have been made too strongly associated with sex or romance by the general allo population for him to be comfy with them. xeno is extremely ambivalent towards most forms of physical affection, and towards romance/sex as concepts (they simply Do Not Care), so they are generally down for cuddles if brian wants cuddles, but they also would be perfectly fine without.

XENO MEANWHILE is also very very cool and good!!!! their samefood is applesauce, especially in squeezy packets, so there is a whole drawer in the kitchen just full of those (brian can't tolerate the texture, so xeno always knows Exactly how many there are in the house). they usually wear fingerless gloves bc it helps reduce the amount of unexpected sensation on their hands; they also tend towards very soft comfy clothes, mostly longsleeve shirts and sweatpants, bc most fabrics are bad textures. they don't emote in a very neurotypical way, so they have to mask a lot when they're at work, and brian is someone who they feel safe unmasking around bc they know he won't misinterpret their quiet and their lack of typical "happy"/pleasant facial expressions, and won't think they're super angry when they're not (which is a problem they often face when they can't mask in front of neurotypicals). they carry noise canceling headphones with them bc of how often they get overstimulated by too much noise. they rlly like to Sort and Organize things, which makes reshelving books at the library (their current job) one of their faaavorite things to do. they're also very good at spotting when brian is just. hiding the fact that he has 0 self-esteem, and are trying rlly hard to encourage him in asserting himself & his needs more often. they love to Learn things and will often infodump to brian about whatever it is they've learned recently. they have a note in their notes app for each person who is important to them, where they just write down every single little detail they know about that person and what they like/dislike, and so on. they make frequent use of these notes as a way to come up with good ideas for little ways to show affection (they are v into gift giving, quality time, and acts of service as love languages, but are very averse to words of affirmation. these tendencies have caused both good and bad things for them in the past). it took them a While to befriend Critter (brian's cat), but now the cat Loves them, which they count as a significant personal triumph. i think possibly they either have pet rats or have had them in the past, so if they do, then their room is off limits for Critter lol. they dye their own hair, which is always an Adventure especially because most smells are sensory Bads for them and bleach is Definitely one of them, so they often have to allot most of their spoons for the day just to bleaching out their hair, so they have to plan and schedule it carefully to have enough spoons. brian has offered to help do it with magic before, but xeno is not convinced that it would be better that way. they also have lots of stim toys, and they carry some in their backpack at all times (including some that are exclusively for brian).

OKAY that's. a lot of things abt them. i love them both sm. i definitely could go on but im stopping for now asjkdhfkjfghsdf tysm for the ask it was the best thing that happened to me today :D
