Completed watching Fruits basket
And I'm all🥹❤️❤️❤️
I'm also all😭😭😭😭
Yesterday when I saw the episode and I stopped at there to go to sleep
I woke up feeling like I never should've watched this anime, because of the way it made me feel, it made me feel so much and I worried about Kyo being in any way related to Kyoko's death
I didn't want that, and so I worried, and I woke up feeling too much, I thought, yes maybe I should've never watched this, it makes me feel too much
But I did, I continued watching it
And I'm glad I did
And in a way, isn't this show exactly about it?
Don't stop halfway, don't give up, whatever the outcome is, we are ourselves, and we have to accept it
A bad situation is a bad situation, but we can accept it, we can look for the good within it, we can hug our fears, we can choose to do something about everything and do it
Locking away our feelings is the same as locking away a part of you, you might feel trapped, because you trapped a part of yourself away from you
So shouldn't we welcome all of ourselves, and embrace the parts which we want to lock away, because everything needs love, and all of you. Each and every inch of you is deserving of this love.
I love myself, and I accept myself. And I hope that everyone and everything finds themselves and the happiness that awaits them.
I'll make a note of all the words from the show that I hold dear to me, and post them.
I want to remember how this show made me feel
The feelings I feel may fade into the background
But I'll always remember feeling so strongly
I'm happy for everyone
For all of my fictional characters, for the real ones too
And everyday, I'll strive to be a better person, to others and to myself.
Thankyou❤️
....
One more thing
I always decline when someone talks shit about themselves, but I've realised that me doing that isn't a good thing, it's my way of keeping a positive approach, but sometimes people want to hear about things as they are, and maybe I should do that and listen and understand and still be able to say, "It's okay if it's this way, but it's in your hands to do something about it, I'll be here to help, but you're the one who has to take a step further"
I've also realised from this anime, that I'm always scared or embarrassed to say the word lonely, it feels wrong, I feel ashamed even, it feels pathetic. But it's a feeling and it's okay to feel this way. At times like this, I've to reach out and everything will start feeling okay
I will hold on to these words, the poetic beauty, this anime, this feeling it made me feel, for as much time as I can🫶
....
When I found out Tohru was hurting as well, when she spoke about how she's not pure too
When she was lonely, when she went through things too, how she shut away parts from herself
I felt, something. Frustration maybe? More of sadness, a feeling of misery, a feeling of why. Why did she feel all of this, why. But not in a way of feeling sad for Tohru, but a way of madness, of feeling like, You can't feel this way.
And I wondered about myself. a lot at that moment.
Tohru to me looked like a happy person, a person who cares about everyone, is a friend, a mother, a family member. And resonating back on what I felt, I feel like I looked at Tohru as a character in that way. And when she broke, it felt like something that should've never happened. Because that is how I see the elder people in my family, the ones I love. So much. I can never imagine how I'd feel if I ever saw them crying, hurt, heartbroken. I don't ever want to see them feel this way. But if ever, such a thing happens, I want to be there, to repair such feelings.
I once saw my uncle almost cry, and I don't ever want to see him like that again. It stays within my mind and my heart clenches, because to me he is a strong mountain.
When she spoke about her feelings, and when she told Akito if she's pure then so Is Akito, I understood a little better of the way I felt
of the things she felt
Of how all of us are human
And how all of us feel lonely
How all of us need love
And how all of us, are all of us
....
I wasn't planning on writing this much
But, I'm glad I did
Thank you, for creating such a beautiful anime, such wonderful characters.
I'll always be grateful.
One of my most favourite lines from this anime amongst many is 'She reacts to my emotions with hers.'
I react to your emotions with mine, you may feel different, we may not agree, but you still react to my emotions with yours, ...
I'm writing this from memory, it may be worded differently
But Thankyou, for letting me react with my emotions, for making me feel them
I'm grateful.

What Type Of Partner Would The Fruit Basket Zodiacs Be Pt 2
Day One of The Underrated And The Unwritten
Notes: check out the masterlist for part one with the others.
Warnings: this is both sfw and nsfw content! so like how would they be as a partner overall. mdni
Characters involved: Shigure Soma, Ayame Soma, Kureno Soma, Hatori Soma
Gender-neutral reader, you/yours
Shigure Soma
Tell me you have daddy issues without telling me you have daddy issues-
Shigure is a very hard partner to keep up with. On a regular basis, he can pretend to be fun and outgoing, and while this is also what he is really like, it is only a certain part of his personality.
He has somewhat of a switch personality, which is why when you're his partner you need to watch out for when he's being serious and when he's being playful and react accordingly.
Shigure usually only drops the playful act when he's angry or when you're being intimate, but when he does he can get quite scary.
This is because he's such a perceptive lover that you quite literally cannot hide anything from him, his author nature also means that he can perceive real people as characters and as such understand them better.
If Shigure's interested in you he will not hesitate to manipulate you into liking him.
He has quite a few psychological tricks up his sleeve and is not afraid to use them.
You probably won't realise any of this until later on in your relationship when small things start to click in your head, but by then it's too late to do anything about it.
Shigure can be a toxic partner because he refuses to let you be taken from him. He's selfish, he's obsessive, he's probably not a good person and he knows it.
Being intimate with Shigure can often be lovemaking but he also isn't afraid to experiment and try new experiences. Unlike the other zodiacs, he's completely fine with BDSM and even enjoys it.
Ayame Soma
Ayame is a very playful partner, but unlike Shigure, nothing about his mannerism is fake. Sure, he also has his own baggage, but Ayame chooses to live life to the fullest and because of that he is never truly serious.
Sure, he has his moments too, but overall when you're with Ayame he's always playful and very clingy.
Constantly planting kisses on your face and giving you back hugs, always talking about the different clothes he wants to stitch for you (which by the way are a lot).
Ayame has made so many clothes for you that those alone make up an entire closet. This ranges from casual wear to costumes to lingerie.
Most of the inspiration for the clothes he makes that aren't for you also comes when he's thinking about you in that sort of outfit.
Ayame would be very affectionate even early on in the relationship, constantly holding your hand and not shy of PDA. But when it comes to being intimate he would wait a bit before doing it.
Sort of like he wants to be completely sure that's something both of you want.
He can be pretty experimental in the bedroom but he isn't as into BDSM as Shigure. More of the light BDSM type.
Kureno Soma
Kureno can be a very complicated partner.
This is because he's easily attracted to people who show him any kind of affection, so it'll take him a while to understand whether he's attracted to you or just likes the idea of not being with an abusive and manipulative partner.
Once he realises he actually likes you and not just the idea of you, Kureno gets pretty attached to you.
He isn't the kind of person who openly expresses his affection, so unlike Ayame even if he really wants to be clingy he won't do anything about it.
He can be pretty shy about showing physical affection first, because in his previous 'relationship' he was pretty much taught that his wants and needs didn't matter, which is why it's hard for him to get out of that mindset.
Once Kureno gets used to showing physical affection he learns that he quite enjoys cuddling and forehead kisses. But he also really likes just being in your presence.
Seeing you in a room immediately calms him down.
Just like Yuki, Kureno wants to explore new life experiences and situations with you. He wants to see and experience everything he missed out on in life.
When it comes to intimacy Kureno is more into the more lovemaking kind of intimacy. This is because things in his previous relationships could get pretty heated in a way that made him crave more affection rather than just sex.
Overall, Kureno is just looking for love and affection and he's glad that he can find that with you.
Hatori Soma
You're either in for the long run or won't be getting anything out of this.
Hatori can be very oblivious when it comes to people liking him. For someone so smart he's pretty blind in that department so unless you're confident enough to confess early on and somehow he feels the same way, you both will be like binary stars.
Once you finally get out of the awkward little does he like me does he not phase, the two of you will probably take things pretty slow.
The kind of relationship where holding hands and forehead kisses are considered milestones.
It's not like he takes two months to kiss you or anything (probably more like a week or two) but Hatori does like taking his time with things.
However, he really likes going on dates with you, the sweet kind like going to cafes together after work or having you lounge around in his office while he finishes up some work and then you go on walks around the city.
When it comes to being intimate, he's more of a pleasure dom and likes putting your needs over his own.
He's open to experimentation and all, but the only kind of BDSM he'd really be into is bondage.
Overall, being with Hatori is a pretty sweet experience, the kind of thing you read about in romance books. He loves taking care of and constantly being aware of you and your needs and he can often seem like the perfect partner.

How did Kureno Sohma’s curse break?
Tumblr media
In season 2 episode 25, when Kureno and Tohru were discussing the Sohma Curse in the park, Kureno told Tohru that his curse broke effortlessly a long time ago. The manner in which the other Zodiacs’s curses break explains why he didn’t do anything to break his own curse:
-Momiji’s bond severed when Hatsuharu confronted Akito over his love for Rin, then broke a short time later after Akito dreamed about it.
-Hiro’s curse broke when Akito was about to stab her mother.
-And the other Zodiac’s curses broke when Tohru and Kyo were confessing their love for each other.
The curse doesn’t break because the one who is cursed breaks it themselves, the curse breaks because of collective deviances from the original story and respective character roles (like defying the will of God).
*
Kureno’s Curse didn’t break because of something he did, but because of something another member of the Zodiac did.
*
The questions are, ‘which Zodiac member(s) broke Kureno’s curse?’ And ‘How did his curse actually break?’
To answer that, we look at the timeline, then look at the events we know.
*
Kureno said that it broke when he was a little younger than Tohru was. Given that Kureno is around 27, and Tohru is around 18, his curse broke around 11 years ago, give or take.
Tohru, Yuki, and Kyo, would have been around 6 or 7 when his curse broke.
*
Given all of this, and the estimated ages of when the event happened, It’s my theory that Kureno’s curse was broken by Tohru and Yuki.
Specifically, the day Yuki and Tohru met.
Tumblr media
What do y’all think of the theory?

Momiji, Haru, and Hiro both loved someone else more than Akito and began to stand up for themselves, so their curse broke or at least the bond frayed--Kureno's broke without his doing anything, long before he met the girl he would love.
We know the curse is weakening already and that's why some Zodiacs have gotten, well, toned down a bit--Hatori doesn't transform into a dragon like his predecessor, but a simple seahorse. Kureno also doesn't transform into a striking rooster but a small sparrow...
But maybe because the Rooster's bond had weakened this much already over generations; a rooster also cannot fly very much, chickens can only fly short distances, but a sparrow can fly much higher--maybe the taste of freedom in flight pushed the later Roosters even further along the path to freedom, so by Kureno's time, even though, by personality, he did not want to leave Akito's side just yet... yet, the only thing he regretted when it first broke, was how he would never again fly in that blue sky...

What do you think would've happened if Akito succeeded in killing Kureno and Ren?
My first reaction was: She would have gone to jail, I guess ?
But maybe the Sohma could cover up theirs death by bribing everyone that knows about it ?
I feel like if Ren died, maybe the weird civil war between her people and Akito's people might just explode and destroy the Sohma from the inside.

Shk shk shk shk. The wheels of the sliding panelled door clatter as it’s rolled aside. A once familiar sound. It’s been nearly a year now since the bustle of the hospital replaced all such comforts.
“Your room is upstairs and down the hall to the left. You’re welcome to stay as long as you like. Mayu and I don’t mind.”
Pausing at the base of the stairs, leather duffle bag in one hand and cane in the other, a smile tugs at the corners of those ever forlorn eyes. “Thank you, Hatori. I don’t plan on intruding very long.”
The solemn demeanor and base tenor of Hatori's voice hide his concern as he replies, “Where are you planning to go?”
“Overseas.” Without another word, Kureno ascends the wooden stairs of the old house Shigure left to the newlywed couple.
Steel blue linger on the retreating figure as he wonders what his cousin could possibly be thinking. For someone who's hardly ever left the Soma estate, for someone who doesn't even know what life in Japan is like, for someone with a history like his running away to a foreign land sounds more like whimsy than a plan. Yet those golden brown eyes spoke of nothing but certainty.
Hoping he's wrong Hatori avoids bringing up the subject again, and is nearly convinced it was a poorly executed joke by the next week until he stops by the antique book store to pick up Mayu only to be handed an armful of travel guides that his wife insists he should carry so she can drive.
Finding his cousin seated on the engawa with a cup of red tea, he sets the stack on the low table of the living room and steps out, closing the paper lined door behind him.
“Kureno,” he growls. “What's this all about? You're not seriously planning on moving abroad, are you?”
Eyes the shade of the amber liquid in the porcelain cup glance up to where Hatori glowers, hands shoved in his pockets and lips set in a firm line. “I am,” is Kureno's simple response.
Pinching the bridge of his nose and sighing heavily, Hatori takes a seat. He lets his gaze settle on the wine dyed foliage of the nearby trees while he collects his thoughts. The silence is broken up only by the rustle of dead leaves tumbling across the yard.
“You've hardly ever set foot outside the estate. How on earth are you going to survive in a country where you no nothing?” he finally asks.
“Exactly. What's the difference between learning to live on my own in a country called home and learning everything from scratch in a country by another name?” Kureno offers in turn.
Through gritted teeth Hatori retorts, “You speak the language here.”
“That doesn't make my experiences here any broader. There are still just as many unknowns here for me as anywhere else,” he replies honestly, but the soft tone belies the severity of the statement.
“There are things here that are intrinsically familiar to you here. Cultural knowledge you can rely on to help you navigate being on your own.”
A gentle gaze and a curious tilt of the head precede an innocent demand for details. “Like what?”
With a huff Hatori explains, “Like... Banking and using your seal. They don't use seals in other countries. How will you figure out getting a place to live without that kind of thing?”
“They must have something similar. Contracts can't fundamentally differ that much. They're all a binding agreement between entities.”
The reasonable counterargument silences the man for a moment before he quips, “Fine. What about food? How will you survive when you can't cook and they don't sell the food you're used to at restaurants?”
“You know as well as anyone I haven't tried most of the local food here either. What's the difference? Here or there I'll have to find food I like or learn to cook.”
“Just the idea of you attempting to cook makes me want to buy a fire extinguisher for every corner of the house... Can you even boil water?”
With a hum, Kureno stares down into his cup, the reflection of his eyes disappearing into the identical colour. “Just fill the zojirushi and wait twenty minutes...”
“Is that the only way you know how to heat water...?”
“Isn't that the only way to warm water?” he asks innocently when he meets the scowl of his cousin.
“Have you ever been in a kitchen...?”
“I'll look it up...” the acorn haired boy mumbles timidly in response.
“Researching topics on the computer is probably the only skill you're well versed in. That and finances,” Hatori chides as he leans back on his palms to stare up at the azure blanket of late autumn. Out of the side of his vision he sees his cousin nod reluctantly by way of agreement.
“On that note, what would you do for work overseas anyway? You can't seriously be expecting to get a job as an accountant in a country where you don't speak the language and don't know the tax laws.”
“Mmm... I'll find something... It doesn't have to be accounting. I'm sure someone needs a hand organizing documents or running spreadsheets... Math is a universal language after all...”
Despite the glaring deficiencies, the speed with which he rebuffs each comment hints at his seriousness. With a sigh Hatori continues, “And what about actual language? Just because you studied English through til the end of high school and passed with good marks doesn't mean you can actually communicate.”
“You know I don't talk much anyway... If I stay in Japan and continue working as the accountant for the estate, I won't talk anymore than I do now. Even if I got a job here somewhere else, I don't think that would change...”
“Yes, but choosing not to talk is a luxury. How are you going to handle problems when you don't have a choice but to engage? You can't call me at all hours of the night to translate for you!” he warns sternly.
“I read there are good translation apps now. I'll make it work...” Gazing off at the withering trees slicing into the horizon, Kureno murmurs, “Besides, it might be good for me... to have to speak for myself for a change...”
Reluctantly Hatori concurs, “Yes. You do need to learn to stand up for yourself and make your own decisions.”
A loneliness clearer than it's ever been pools in those golden depths despite finally being free. It's almost too much to bear, and Hatori can't help but beg him to stay. “Do you really think you have to go overseas for that to happen though? Aren't you just running away from her?”
“I am. I want to run far away. As far as I can. Everything here reminds me of her because everything here is supposed to be familiar and it's not. At least... in a different country, nothing is expected to be known. I won't look like a total idiot for not knowing how to use the subway or never having tried a hamburger... I won't be reminded of all the years I spent needing nothing of anyone... willfully helpless and reliant on others...”
Just as it was stubbornness that kept him there for all those years, Hatori recognizes that the same will won't be changed now. “Well, where do you want to go?”
Setting down the empty china cup on it's saucer and dredging his phone from his cardigan pocket, Kureno hands the unlocked device over and explains, “It seems like a lot of countries have some kind of agreement with Japan to allow people under thirty to work for a year without restriction.”
“Ah, a working holiday visa. Aren't there only a few where English is spoken that are open to Japanese citizens though?” Hatori queries as he scrolls through the information.
“Right. New Zealand, Australia, UK, Ireland, or Canada.”
Passing it back Hatori prods, “Which one do you want to go to?”
“Whichever accepts my application soonest,” Kureno answers with a shrug as he slides the weight into his pants.
Uncharacteristically wide-eyed Hatori demands, “You're not taking anything else into account?!”
Blinking a few times before responding Kureno counters, “What else is there to consider?”
“The climate, the culture, the economic opportunities, the cost of living... A lot, Kureno...”
“You know none of us are short on money. We work to keep ourselves busy or because it's required by the family, not because we lack financially. The culture will be equally unfamiliar anywhere, and climate... Is it really that different from here? Doesn't everywhere have four seasons...?”
After a contemplative hum Hatori agrees, “I suppose... I've never left the country either, but that seems only logical... Still, how do you propose to find a place to stay? Surely you're not planning on living in a hotel.”
“I've read there are people who offer what they call ‘home-stay’ where one can board for a period. The accomodations usually provide food at extra cost. It seems rather popular.”
Rising from the wooden deck and shoving the sliding door back Hatori gives in. “At least you've done your research... Though I sincerely doubt what you've read will line up with reality as perfectly as you imagine, I'll help you out however I can.”
The smile he's met with is one he's rarely seen on Kureno - one that's genuinely hopeful.
