I miss solangelo. Like early solangelo. Just pure three days in the infirmary fics, nightmare fluff, highschool AUs, or if someone was really ambitious, quest AUs. Idk about you guys but I remember like, when we had little to no HCs about Will floating around he was just whatever we could make of him from the Blood of Olympus. He was either southern in fanfics or he wasn't. He was either super traumatized from being a healer or he was this sunshine-y golden retriever guy. Like early solangelo fic was just a mixture of spin the wheel on varying wheels and I loved it.

"Would you quit looking at everyone like that?" Will said exasperatedly. "You're scaring people."
Nico didn't even try to control his scowl as he studied each of Will's classmates. It could be any one of them, really, since Will had stuck a bi pride pin on his backpack for anyone to see. (Not that he had a problem with the flag, obviously, but when half the room was clearly leering at his boyfriend...maybe he had a problem with it.) "If you just told me which one-"
"No," Will interrupted, fiddling with something on the chair. The two were at a blood drive in the cafeteria of Will's school, and Will, being a med student, had to work it along with several kids in the same program, giving Nico a perfect chance keep Will company. "I'm not telling you who was hitting on me."
"Why?" Nico thought it was a fair question, him being the boyfriend and all.
"'Cause I prefer my classmates unmurdered, thanks."
"I wouldn't murder anyone," he grumbled.
"Tell that to your face."
Somehow, he resisted the urge to give Will the finger.
Around them, doctor's office chairs were occupied by generous people hooked up to machines taking their blood. Will's was the only empty chair.
So maybe it was Nico's fault.
He worked on unclenching his jaw, and within a few minutes, someone approached them.
Will smiled and pulled out a clipboard. "Hi! Are you here to give blood?"
The blonde woman smiled. "Yes."
"Awesome! Go ahead and sit down. I have a few questions to ask you."
She maneuvered herself into the chair awkwardly, glancing at Nico a couple times. "Is this confidential?"
Will nodded. "Of course."
She looked at Nico again. "What about him?"
Nico waved a hand. "I'm gonna go get a drink."
Without waiting, he walked through the cafeteria and out into the hallway to wander around for a bit. There were very few people in the hall, even for a Saturday, so he was able to explore unhindered. He passed a lot of classrooms (obviously), several with anatomical models, a couple with actual full skeletons, and one with the distinct smell of formaldehyde wafting from it, a smell he probably shouldn't be able to identify so easily. For how much everybody considered him and Will to be opposites, their domains really weren't all that different, honestly.
In one hallway, there was a big floor-to-ceiling window through which he saw some pigeons absolutely going at it, the city skyline a simple background to the showdown of the century as the birds flapped their wings menacingly and pecked and jabbed at each other. Just when the fight was getting good and Nico thought they could be monsters in disguise, they just flew off, disappearing into the cloudy expanse above.
Well. They couldn't all be epic Greek demigods.
At some point, he found a vending machine and bought himself some chips and a bag of Doritos to take back to Will, and, checking the time, started making his way back to the cafeteria.
When he got there, Will brightened considerably across the room, which made Nico pretty happy. Take that, mystery person.
There was nobody in the chair, so Nico walked right up to him. "Hey, Sunshine."
"Hey." Will grabbed his wrist in a latexed hand. "Are those Doritos?"
Nico laughed. "Yeah, but you can't have them until you wash your hands. Germs." He wiggled his fingers.
Will wrinkled his nose. "Fine. Hey, as long as you're here, why don't I take your blood?"
Nico looked at him oddly but got in the chair. "I thought you couldn't use our blood because of the ichor?"
"That's not what I need it for."
Incredibly confused, Nico narrowed his eyes, wondering if this was some kind of modern thing he didn't know about. "What?"
Will continued getting him ready for the blood draw. "Do you know how much blood your reckless ass loses weekly? It's good to have it on hand."
Nico blinked at him, then offered his arm. "Um. Alright."
Which was how, ten minutes later, Nico ended up shoving two bags of his own blood into his inner jacket pocket, hoping nobody was watching.
"I better not get arrested for this," Nico muttered, because even in this completely ridiculous, stupid-as-shit situation, he never even considered not covering for Will.
"You'll be fine," Will said as packed up his station. Apparently, it was time to go. "That's what the mist is for." Even so, he glanced around, checking for eyes among the other med students getting ready to leave for the day. Then, satisfied, he stood and offered Nico his hand. "Ready to go?"
Nico took it, lacing their fingers together. "Yep."
Together, they walked out the doors into the sweet free air.

Helpless part 34
"How are you feeling."
"Terrified." Nico whispered, biting his nails. He really needed a smoke but he knew Will would never let him, for fucks sake he didn't even know.
"You're going to be okay, I know you're scared but everything's going to be okay. Just think of it as another three days in the infirmary."
"Mmhm.." Nico thought back to Reyna, he might as well tell him everything that's happening, he didn't want to but he'd rather Will find out through him and not anyone else. "Will... can I talk to you about something..."
"'Course Neeks, is everything alright."
"Well... umm- you know how I don't eat that much? Well... it's- fuck- it's because I can't. Every time I eat I throw it up and just either way... I can't let myself- eat. I- before that I would starve myself... because... I got so fucking used to it." Will pulled the shaking boy into a hug,
"Thank you for telling me, I'm going to help you, I promise."
"Th-Thanks."
"That's what I'm here for Angel boy."
"That's a new one."
"Thought I'd get creative." Will smirked,
"Of course you did Sunshine."
"Nico is anything in particular worrying you?"
"Not really... just- yeah." Nico didn't mention the fact that asking for help made him weak and he felt useless, he couldn't bring himself to tell Will that. The living sunshine grabbed his hand,
"I swear on the river of Styx you're going to be okay." He hesitated before leaning down and kissing him on the forehead, Nico blushed, staring into Will's bright blue eyes.
"Will... last night.. who found out?"
"Jason and Percy, they were going to force you to watch Mean Girls-"
"-Oh I love Mean Girls."
"I never thought I would hear you say that; then when you didn't say anything they got worried."
"Shit... wait... did they tell you about the...?"
"Yeah..." Nico flinched back, covering his face with his hands.
"It's okay, I know they're easy to get lost in."
"They help to not feel the pain..."
"I'm going to help you find a healthy way to cope, I know your life's been hard, believe me, drugs won't make it easier." Oh such a hypocrite, Will thought to himself, relling Nico that drugs won't help when he'd probably smoked more than the rest of camp combined. There's a difference, Nico's worth saving, he's actually fought, him on the other hand, had fought so little times he could count it on one hand. He didn't say anything to him, right now the last thing that he needed was finding out about this shit, maybe if they ever got together he would tell him eventually but right now it wasn't important. Will hoped that would be possible, dating Nico, but he knew that after he realised he was useless he wouldn't give a shit. But he was the one that kissed me... He thought to himself then promptly told that thought to go and fuck itself.
"It's too much."
"One step at a time Nico, you can have as much time as you need. Rome wasn't built in a day."
"I'm not worth it, I have more problems than wor-" Will cut him off with a kiss, at first he was shocked but he didn't back away from him. Will pulled the shaking boy closer to him as his fingers threaded through his blonde hair, he was cold. Nico wrapped his arms around his neck, a glowing brightness shone off his tan skin. He was strong but still gentle as he cupped the smaller boy's face with his hands until they broke appart, both gasping for air.
"Nico di Angelo you are worth everything, never say that again."

If it was stupid it wouldn’t be bothering you so much,” Will insisted, making it clear that he wasn’t going to abide by Nico’s wishes.
Nico huffed, crossing his arms. “I want you to touch me, Asshole! Are you happy now?”
“Oh,” Will said, voice about an octave higher than usual.

Our Days Together
This was written for yet another exchange hosted by @ashilrak. This was for the Spring 2023 Equinox. It was so much and I had a really great time writing this. I highly recommend joining the upcoming Summer exchanges as the community for it is absolutely amazing.
Summary: Changes in a relationship are never easy. For demigods, it was even harder. But Will and Nico always found a way. Through all the changes and challenges. Through every hardship, they found each other.
A simple collection of Solangelo moments as the two prepare for a new part of life.
Word Count: 4,426
Here’s a link if you prefer to read on AO3: Link
Most people were lucky enough to never be able to say they had been through the horrors of war. For demigods though, that was never the case. Even if they didn’t have to deal with the wars the gods tended to cause, they were still stuck being hunted by monsters and sometimes even other gods. While in the modern day, it seemed unheard of to bury someone that hadn’t even hit sixteen, demigods had been forced to mourn and bury children as young as five. It was an awful life.
But those that survived made sure to live. They knew any day could be their last so why risk not living it to the fullest? That was how Will saw it anyway. He had been through a majority of the troubles over the past few years. His life hadn’t even started off as nice as some demigods. His mom loved him but Apollo tended to attract a certain crowd and it wasn’t long before she grew too busy to actually look after him. By that point, Will was shipped off to live with his grandparents. At first, it seemed perfect. He was the perfect child in many ways. He was quiet and sweet. He was always ready to help. But he was different. In a way, his grandparents didn’t really know what to do with it. They couldn’t see through the mist so when Will was sobbing and hiding from the monsters that hunted after him, they thought he just had an active imagination. It all quickly got too much and his mom decided the best place for him was Camp Half-Blood. So at a mere ten years old, Will was left to be raised by his older half-brothers.
It wasn’t the worst life. If anything, it was amazing. At least at first. Will's two older brothers loved him and taught him everything about how to survive the demigod life. And Will loved it. He had fun playing with his brothers and sisters and the other kids.
Then the wars happened.
At a mere thirteen years old, Will was burying the majority of his siblings, and those that did survive he was now in charge of. As his siblings described it, that was the day Will stopped glowing. The childish innocence and joy in him were killed. And Will swore to himself, he’d never let it happen to his other siblings. They didn’t need to know what it was like to have the weight of everyone else on their shoulders. At least not while they were young. He’d make sure of that.
Then the second war happened and Will was forced to accept that he couldn’t protect his siblings from it. He had no choice but to have them see the horrors of war again. It broke him even more. But they made it through with thankfully fewer casualties. And in the end, Will got his glow back.
Will was like Apollo in many ways. Apart from looking nearly exactly what someone would imagine a child of the sun god to look like, Will also had the habit of falling in love just like his father. When he fell, he fell hard. And at just the age of thirteen, he understood just what that meant. Even though the fighting and death, Will managed to fall in love with one of the only sons of Hades, Nico. Will knew of Nico but the two had never actually met until after the first war. And while Will would love to say he fell for Nico from the first conversation the truth was he fell much earlier. He had seen Nico riding in a chariot with Hades and from that very moment, he was in love. Nico was beyond beautiful to the son of Apollo. Dark hair and eyes that contradicted his pale skin in the most angelic way. It was enough to drive Will crazy.
Of course, the fates were never nice. And within weeks of the war ending and Will working up the confidence to ask Nico out, Nico was gone. Will was heartbroken.
Then the Giants War happened.
Will couldn’t tell anyone why he felt the need to argue with Nico or mention that he had just delivered a baby, but he did. But it didn’t matter. Because within weeks of that war ending, the two were together. It was a strange pairing but they quickly became the camp's main source of gossip, finally taking attention from Percy and Annabeth.
The two loved each other. They respected and cherished each other. They saw each other at their lowest points and took care of each other. As everyone said, they were like an old married couple from the moment they began to date.
They had a routine that never changed.
At least until recently.
Will and Nico had managed to beat the odds and were now eighteen. Will was getting ready for college. Nico was forced to acknowledge they were adults. Will had to make sure his siblings would be okay without him. Nico had to figure out what he was doing with his life.
“You’re not wearing that to dinner,” Nico all but hissed as he looked at his boyfriend who was wearing what could only be described as the ugliest outfit in the world. A bright yellow and orange suit with flip flops.
“I think I look good,” Will said, looking at the reflection of Nico in his mirror as he fixed his hair to look a bit nicer.
Nico had a complicated relationship with his father. That being that he regularly complained about Hades and acted like he couldn’t stand the god but he still worked for Hades and regularly joined him for dinner. This time, Will had been invited as well.
“You look like you let one of his siblings paint on your clothes,” Nico said, going to his boyfriend's closet and looking for the suit he had bought Will for a situation just like this. “When I bought that for you, I told you that under no circumstances should you wear that unless you were trying to one-up Apollos' horrible style,” he said, pulling out the black suit.
“Can I at least wear the orange tie?” Will asked, turning to look at his boyfriend with a slight pout that made Nico snort slightly.
“Fine, but don’t blame me when Hades starts complaining about you being like your father,” Nico teased while smiling as he ruffled Will's hair up.
“Hey, I just fixed it,” Will complained, going to fix his hair again.
“I like it messy,” Nico said, happily ruffling Will's hair once more. “Hurry up, we’re already late and I’m hungry.”
“What am I even going to eat? I’d prefer to not end up like Persephone or Eurydice.” Will said, making Nico roll his eyes.
“Would you relax? We’re going to have Mcdonalds'. If everything goes well, maybe we can even get dessert afterward, just you and me.” Nico said while smiling as he gently kissed Will's cheek.
Will smiled and was quick to kiss Nicos' cheek back. Once the two were ready, Nico pulled them through the shadows to the Underworld. It wasn’t the first time Will had been there. When the two first began to date, Hades had basically kidnapped Will in order to make sure he was good enough for Nico. He was only there for about an hour before Nico showed up and threatened Hades but it was still a chance for him to experience the Underworld.
The Underworld, at least to Will, was beautiful. It was cold and damp, sure, but there was an air of calm and peacefulness. It was a peacefulness that could only exist for those surrounded by the dead. Like an eternal sleep that took away all fear and responsibility. Will loved it.
Nico lead Will into the grand castle of Hades and to the dining room. He walked past everything without a second thought, long used to the winding rooms of the castle and the beauty that existed in everything. Will did his best to keep up while also looking at everything he could. The dead flowers that littered the halls, unable to grow without the queen of the Underworld yet still cherished and loved in beautiful vases. Paintings of the myths and heroes lined the walls. Will eventually stopped at a portrait of Nico. He wore a suit that reminded Will of suits he had seen in paintings from the Victorian era. In the painting, Nico had a small smirk on his face as if he plotting something. But he was gorgeous. He looked like an angel, especially in the candlelight that illuminated the painting.
Nico noticed Will had stopped following him when he went to turn the corner. He looked back at his boyfriend staring at the portrait and blushed slightly in embarrassment,
“Persephone says that’s the best portrait of me since I’m actually smiling.” He said, forcing Will back to reality and reminding him he was still in the Underworld.
“You look pretty,” Will said, looking over at Nico while smiling. “Sometimes it doesn’t feel real that I have you,” he whispered quietly as he walked over to his boyfriend. He really didn’t see what Nico saw in him. He was just a messy child of Apollo, one of nearly a hundred in the present. Nico was Nico. The only living son of Hades and heir to the Underworld with a beauty that lived up to his last name.
“Well start, believing we’re together. I’ve put in too much work to give you manners.” Nico teased as the two walked deeper into the castle and came to a large dining room where Hades sat. Nico bowed to the god. “Father.” He greeted him politely before taking his seat.
“Son and my sons’…ever bright lover, how lovely you two could finally join us.” Hades greeted as the two mortals sat across from him.
Will was in utter awe as he sat next to Nico. They were served McDonald's on fancy gold and silver plates by ghosts and skeletons. Never mind they were sitting across from literal gods. This felt like something out of one of the fantasy novels he used to make his brothers read to him. He kept looking around at everything. Everything in the Underworld said everything about the king and queen. Flowers that, while now dead, were very beautiful. Every item was gold or silver or covered in the most precious of gems. It was grand and a little ridiculous but Will loved it. It reminded him so much of Nico. Dark and gloomy but fancy.
“So, what exactly do you plan for my son?” Hades spoke, causing Nico to nearly choke on his cheeseburger and Will's face to go red.
“I’m not sure what you mean, my lord,” Will said, not sure what else to say. Suddenly he was reminded of what was happening. He was meeting his boyfriends' father. His boyfriends' father who was the king of the dead. Kronos’ oldest son. One of the most terrifying and powerful gods. And his boyfriends' father.
“Oh please.” Hades said. “You seriously can’t pretend you don’t have some kind of Ulterior motives.”
“Father, whatever you are doing, stop it,” Nico said, glaring at the god he, unfortunately, had to call his father.
“Silence, Nico.” Hades ordered. “I will not have my only child be made a fool by some child of Apollo,” he said, crossing his arms and glaring at the blonde boy before him.
“I’m really not sure what you mean Lord Hades,” Will said.
“Oh please, your mother is a struggling singer.” Hades said. “Tell me, are you dating my son solely for his money?”
“Father!” Nico yelled, standing up.
“No Nico, it’s okay.” Will said. “I completely understand your fears Lord Hades, but I can assure you, I would never do anything like that,” he said. “But it doesn’t really matter, because me saying it will prove nothing.” He said, keeping his face completely calm and serious. “So instead I’ll give you a deal. If I ever start to become unworthy of Nico…well, do the godly thing.”
Nico was about to scold Will for saying something like that but Hades cut in.
“I like him,” the god said, a rare smile forming on his face.
“I didn’t come here for your approval of my relationship.” Nico said, glaring at his father.
“I know.” Hades said. “But I know how Apollos' children are. You picked a good one. He’s not completely stupid or annoying.”
“I can guarantee you I am.” Will joked, getting a small chuckle out of the god.
Will slowly managed to relax and from then on, dinner went smoothly. Though Nico seemed slightly annoyed the rest of the evening.
— When the two arrived back at camp, it was already well past curfew. Not that either of them cared as they stood in the darkness of the Hades cabin.
“That was the stupidest thing you’ve ever done,” Nico said, glaring at Will. “I mean seriously, you basically just gave my father permission to kill you if you ever break up with me!” he yelled.
“I know,” Will said, smiling slightly. “I don’t care though. I love you, Nico. You made me believe in soulmates and I’m not losing that magic.”
“You are…disgustingly sweet,” Nico said, pinching Will's cheek. “And very stupid. I’m still mad at you.” He said, going to change out of his suit.
“I know.” Will said while smiling. “But that’s why you love me,” he teased, sticking his tongue out playfully at Nico.
“Yeah yeah,” Nico said, slipping into the bathroom and changing into his PJs before coming out again. “Get changed so we can get to bed. I want to cuddle with my stupid lovely boyfriend.”
Will chuckled and went to the bathroom to change. He had been keeping things in Nicos' cabin for almost a month now. He had been so excited when Nico suggested it. Of course, the two had little sleepovers before that but not very frequently. And Will didn’t need to sleep in his jean shorts ever again. He went back to the main area of the cabin and curled up with Nico in the small twin bed.
“Remind me again why you don’t ask the Hephaestus kids to make you a proper cabin with like a kitchen and living. Make it as a real house like Percy did? You’ve got it all to yourself the majority of the time. Might as well make it a proper home.” Will said.
“We’ll have a proper home when we move out of camp permanently and you start college. I’ll take care of us till you start working.” Nico said.
“You’ve got it all planned huh?” Will asked while smiling. “Humor me, tell me our future,” he said, making Nico chuckle slightly.
“Us, married firstly. I’m giving you two years to propose to me before I do it myself.” Nico said. “And us in a nice house. Something huge for our kids and so our friends and family can visit. Not to mention a giant backyard. And of course, a summer home in Italy where we can get the best tasting and freshest wine and coffee.” He looked at Will whose chest he now had his head laid on. He frowned when he saw Will's tears. “Did I upset you?”
“No,” Will promised, leaning down and gently kissing Nicos' forehead. “I just love that picture. Us together in a nice big home. With kids, we can protect and love.”
“They’ll have a far better life than us,” Nico promised.
“Definitely,” Will said, smiling brightly and gently kissing Will's lips. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
— When the morning came, Will was the first one awake. It came with being an Apollo kid, you awoke with the sun. He looked at Nico who was still fast asleep but was now curled up in a way that he barely took up half the bed. Will could never get over how adorable Nico was when he slept. During the day Nico could easily come off as brash and rude but whenever he slept, Will saw just who Nico was. He was a sweet kid who just tried to keep himself safe. Will adored it. He gently kissed Nicos' forehead before he slipped out of bed and got himself ready, heading off to the infirmary to get some work done.
It didn’t seem real that this was his life. His childhood had been difficult and after losing so many people he loved, he thought he’d be alone forever. That had been one of the first things he and Nico bonded over. Losing everyone they cared about. Thinking they were doomed to be alone and that the way they loved was a sin. They had found comfort and love in that. They saw each other at their lowest and still found love.
It was something Will never thought he’d be lucky to have.
It was barely an hour later when Nico woke up. He had grown used to waking up without Will. No matter how long they had been together or how hard Will tried, they seemed to still be complete opposites. It was strange waking up with this longing to be with his boyfriend. Nico had lived so long believing he’d never be able to have a true love life. He had grown up hearing stories of people like him being stoned. Heard stories of people being arrested for simply loving someone of the same sex. It was enough to terrify anyone. But now he had Will. He had people who wanted their relationship to succeed and who helped them through rough patches.
Nico would never forget the first fight they had. As much as their differences seemed to cause more arguments, they could be very stubborn in the same, most annoying way. They had only been dating for a few months when everyone learned about his birthday. — “I don’t want a birthday party,” Nico said for what was probably the one-thousandth time as the Seven, Will, Nico, Reyna, and Thaila all sat in the Jackson’s apartment. It was meant to be a simple get-together for them all to talk and catch up yet had somehow turned into trying to plan Nico’s upcoming birthday. “How did you guys even find out about that? I’ve never told anyone.”
“Thanatos told me,” Hazel said with a bright smile on her face.
“Plus I have all your medical records so I doubled-checked,” Will said. “Plus your family was, like, super rich and powerful. All we had to do was look up your last name and your entire family history was found.”
“That’s…incredibly creepy. You googled-stalked your own boyfriend? Your own boyfriend who’s older than literally all technology.” Nico said, completely shocked that any of them would look him up.
“Yeah, we were curious,” Percy said while smiling. “If you told us information about yourself maybe we wouldn’t have to,” he said.
“I should hurt you all!” Nico yelled, beyond angry at this invasion of his privacy. And the fact his friends wanted to plan a birthday party for him with that information was even worse. Nico hadn’t celebrated his birthday since he was eight and he really didn’t feel like starting now. His birthday was just another reminder of how confused he was about everything and how little had been left of his original life.
“Come on Nico, just a small party. You deserve it.” Will said, giving his boyfriend a small pouty face. That always seemed to do the trick when he wanted Nico to agree to something.
“No!” Nico yelled, glaring at the group of his friends. “I don’t want a birthday. I don’t even want to acknowledge the day as anything more than a normal day.”
“Why?” Thaila asked. “I mean it’s not like your birthday is scarred by anything super serious,” she said.
“That’s what I imagine someone who chose to be locked out of time would say.” Nico practically growled as he glared at the daughter of Zeus.
“Nico, I think that’s a little harsh. We just want to celebrate you and all you’ve ever done,” Jason said, trying to make the party sound far more enticing.
“I appreciate you wanting to be nice but the answer is still a hard no,” Nico said. “I don’t want a birthday.”
“Alright. Fine, we won’t celebrate your birthday.” Will said, giving in.
Of course, that didn’t mean they weren’t still going to try. They just wouldn’t hold a formal birthday party.
So when Nico woke up the next morning to a cupcake with black frosting and little ghost chocolates, he had a pretty good idea of what to expect. The annoyance didn’t go away when he walked into the Apollo cabin to check on Will that morning and was immediately greeted by Will handing him a gift.
“What happened to not celebrating my birthday?” Nico asked, refusing to take the gift from his boyfriend. “I told you I didn’t want to.”
“It’s just a cupcake and a present from me. I don’t think it counts as a real celebration.” Will said, still trying to get Nico to accept the present. “Come on, I worked really hard to get you this gift,” he said, pouting slightly.
“No!” Nico yelled. “I don’t want anything. I can’t believe you really went behind my back to do this! You completely went against my very simple wishes,” he said, seething with anger.
“Well, I’m sorry for wanting to do something nice for my boyfriend!” Will yelled.
Nico rolled his eyes and stormed off, going to his cabin.
“I can’t believe him,” Will said, putting the gift on his bed before getting ready for work.
“I don’t know, for Nico that’s a pretty calm reaction.” Austin, Will's younger brother, spoke up. “I told you he wouldn’t like you going behind his back like that.”
“Yeah well, he still didn’t need to yell at me,” Will mumbled, looking down. He knew it was a bad idea. But he couldn’t help himself. He loved Nico and wanted to be able to show it by spoiling him. He had never been able to truly care about someone like that. He knew Nico hadn’t experienced that in a very long time.
Still, he should’ve known better than to just expect Nico to be okay with something like this. He shouldn’t have just expected him to be okay with this. He knew Nico. He knew he didn’t like any reminders of his past. He sighed.
“I really messed up, didn’t I?” Will asked.
“Yep,” Austin said. “Good luck making it up to him.”
Will frowned and looked at the gift. He picked it up and left his cabin. Instead of going to the infirmary, he went to Nico’s cabin. He gently knocked on the door. He waited to hear any sign of permission to enter. When that didn’t happen, he began to speak.
“Nico…I know I really upset you.” He said softly. “I’m so sorry I went behind your back. I shouldn’t have done anything. I should’ve accepted your answer. I’m really sorry.” He said, setting the gift by the door. “I’ll leave your gift here. Don’t think of it as a birthday. Instead, it’s just a present from your boyfriend because he really does love you.” He said, beginning to walk away only for the door to open.
“Love you too,” Nico mumbled, hugging Will from behind. “But you better not do anything like that again.”
“I won’t, I promise,” Will said, carefully turning to hug Nico. “Now pretty please open your gift. I want to see your reaction.”
Nico chuckled and picked up the gift. He opened it carefully. Inside was a beautiful hand-sewn blanket. It had his and Will's symbols on it as well as images of importance to them. Like Camp Half-Blood Hill where the two first began really flirting and talking. Nico felt tears prick his eyes. “Will, this is amazing,” Nico said, wrapping himself in the warm fabric. “How did you do this?”
“I asked Annabeth to teach me. You’re always cold, I thought you’d enjoy a nice warm blanket made with love.” Will said while smiling. He had never seen a brighter smile on Nico’s face. He wanted to make sure Nico always got to experience moments like this. He wanted to be able to spoil him regularly in every way he could. He knew he didn’t have a way to provide them with the perfect life yet, but one day he would. He’d make sure of it.
“It’s amazing, I love it so much,” Nico said, nuzzling his face against the soft cloth of the quilt. “I don’t think I’ve ever had such a caring gift. Thank you so much,” he said, hugging Will tightly while smiling. Will happily hugged back, kissing Nicos' cheek.
“I have to get to work. Afterward, we can cuddle under it,” Will said, glowing with excitement.
“Don’t overwork yourself too hard,” Nico said. “Or do and I’ll kidnap you tomorrow and keep you on bed lockdown,” he teased, before going back to hiding in his cabin to wait for Will to finish his shift. — Nico gently ran his hand along the quilted blanket from so many years ago. Very soon it’d be packed up with the rest of his stuff to move to New Rome. It was such a major change but Nico looked forward to it. Mostly because of their plans. After all, as the son of Hades, he couldn’t fly. But Will did have his license. And Nico had wanted to travel as much as he could now that he was a legal adult and could do stuff.
That was how they decided on a fun road trip. A few weeks ago they had gone to a dealership and Will bought the perfect car for them. The two had mapped out every side stop they wanted to make and had plans for everything. They wanted to have fun before Will was stuck in school for what would feel like forever.
But they’d make it through. After two wars and losing everyone who loved and cared for them. It was only right that they’d make it through. They wanted this life. They wanted this future together. They wanted their love to last through the ages. Nico would do everything to fight for that. Will would as well. They’d be happy and together, forever.

Okay, so they might not have fully thought their plan through.
Really, who would’ve guessed that shadow-traveling to Will’s house would be problematic? If Nico had missed and passed out somewhere in the greater Austin region Will could have just sat with him until he woke, but nope. Nico pinpointed Will’s house exactly on his first try, landing the two of them right in the middle of Will’s living room. Which, again, would have been no problem if Will had actually been able to tell his mom they were coming.
Naomi Solace screamed and nearly jumped out of her skin, spilling cereal all over her pajamas as she shot up from the couch and instinctively chucked a bowl at Will’s head.
Will dodged the bowl. “Hi, Mom!” he greeted cheerfully.

everyone goes south, every now and then

“I don’t care how you phrase it, I’m not gonna endorse you going back to Tartarus,” Percy said, voice already sharper than it was fifteen minutes ago when Nico had first entered his and Annabeth’s apartment.
He and Will were visiting their friends in New Rome for a much needed break. Well, as much as it could be considered a break when Will kept trying to go ‘check out the infirmary’. Nico knew what that meant: work. He had finally relented after three days, however, and Will was getting a guided tour of Camp Jupiter’s medical facilities while Nico hung out with Percy and Jason.
“It’s not like I’m asking you to go,” he grumbled. And he wasn’t! He just wanted to see Iapetus again. He hadn’t even asked Will yet.
Abruptly, Percy slammed down the bowl he was mixing batter in, and Nico jumped. “It doesn’t matter, Nico! Tartarus is literally hell! All three of us barely survived. Why would you want to go back?”
Wide-eyed, Nico just blinked at him for a moment. It took a lot to get Percy mad at his friends, but it seemed Nico had pressed the right buttons. He always had been good at that.
At the table, Jason also looked shocked at their friend’s outburst, though Nico almost told him not to bother. Jason hadn’t been there for those first couple years of Nico and Percy’s relationship and therefore had no idea the extent of anger they could level at each other.
The son of Hades looked back at Percy. “I just wanna fix the mess that you left behind.”
Next to him, Jason gasped, but Nico didn’t wait around to see Percy’s reaction. He ran out the door into the hallway and was halfway down the steps when Jason caught up with him.
“Go away,” Nico bit out, and continued down the stairs.
Panting slightly (had Nico really been going that fast?), Jason said, “I just wanted to make sure you’re okay.”
Of course he did. Because Jason was Rome’s little golden boy who had never been mean to anyone in his life. “I’m fine.”
“I don’t believe you,” he responded, jogging faster to cut in front of the black-haired boy.
Nico pushed past him. “I don’t need you to check on me like a child.”
Jason frowned. “You are a child.”
He snorted. As if. “Well, you’ve done it, so you can go check on Percy now. I know you’re going to.”
The son of Jupiter sighed. “You’re right, but that doesn’t mean I care any less about your answer.” He paused. “And what you said to him was pretty bad.”
Nico waved him off. “By tomorrow, he’ll have apologized for getting mad, I’ll feel bad for being mean, and neither of us will care anymore.” Such was the nature of their relationship, especially since the Giant War had ended, much to the chagrin of Will and Annabeth who were often caught in the middle of their arguments.
Jason looked at him skeptically. “I don’t understand you two.”
“Join the club.”
Nico turned to leave, and Jason shouted after him, “I also don’t think you should go to Tartarus!”
He threw up a middle finger. “Tell me something I don’t know!”
-
Once Nico was out of the building, he just started walking, not really caring where he went. Somehow, he ended up running into Leo Valdez outside the engineer building at New Rome University.
“Neeks!” he exclaimed. “What are you doing here?”
Nico had to take a moment to process being near so much energy with so little good mood left. “Me and Will are visiting New Rome for the week. What are you doing here?”
His eyes lit up. “I’m helping Jason and Annabeth with the minor gods temple project.”
Nico cocked his head. “But Annabeth’s in class and Jason’s at Percy’s?”
“I know, I was just checking out the engineering building.” He got a guarded look on his face. “Don’t tell anyone, but I might be in there a lot next year.”
Nico’s eyebrows flew up. “You’re thinking about going to NRU?” That was a surprise. He’d thought Leo was permanently camped out in Indiana with Calypso at the Waystation.
Leo put his index finger against his mouth. “Calypso and I broke up.”
Nico blinked at him. “What?”
He nodded, brown curls tipping forward into his face, and Nico noticed that he didn’t look too upset. The breakup was either amicable, or it happened a while ago. “Yeah, she needed some time to be by herself without being tied to anyone.”
“And you?”
He smiled. “Let’s just say, there’s someone here I have my eye on.” He shook his head. “Enough about that. What’s got you all huffy?”
Nico wrinkled his nose at the description, though he knew from Will that it was probably dead-on. “I’m mad at Percy.”
Leo laughed. “Why does that not surprise me?”
Nico glared at him.
“What was it this time?” Apparently Leo had a better grasp of their relationship than Jason did.
Nico hesitated to answer since he was sure Leo would be on the same side as Jason and Percy. “He doesn’t want me to go to Tartarus.” He felt his face redden.
Leo huffed a laugh. “Seriously, what is it?” When Nico stared at him, his eyes widened. “You’re not joking.”
Before the self-righteous lecture he knew was coming could start, Nico opened his mouth to defend himself. “I just want to see if Iapetus is still there and if I can bring him back.”
Surprisingly, Leo licked his lips, considering. “Ookay, so you wanna go back to hell?” His head bobbed. “That’s…cool.”
Nico nodded. “Yeah, and it’s not like this time would be as bad as last time. Now, I know what to expect, so I’ll be prepared.”
“That’s certainly one way to look at it.” Leo’s eyebrow furrowed, and Nico knew he had lost him. “But - and hear me out - maybe Tartarus isn’t something you can prepare for?”
“That’s what Will said,” Nico grumbled. When he had told his boyfriend about his idea, he’d barely gotten the words ‘Tartarus’ and ‘I wanna go’ out before Will was shutting him down.
Leo thrust out his hands, palms up. “You should listen to him!” Nico rolled his eyes, but Leo continued. “What exactly did you say to Percy to make him so mad?”
Nico blushed and muttered something vaguely adjacent to the words he had thrown at the son of Poseidon, and Leo said, “What?”
Nico glared at him. “I told him I wanted to fix his mess.”
Leo stumbled. “Yeah, I can definitely see why he would take offense to that.”
Nico threw up his hands. “You’re no help.”
-
Pretty soon, Leo had to go meet Annabeth and Jason to talk about building plans, so Nico followed the smell of hot chocolate after his stomach started grumbling, thinking he could at least make Will happy by eating lunch.
He soon realized that was a mistake, however, as the second he stepped into the cafe, he was met with an outlandish leopard print shirt attached to a tan, middle aged man. “Lord Dionysus? What are you doing in New Rome?”
Immediately, the god shushed him and pushed him into a booth, panic written in the lines on his face. Eyes darting around the room, he visibly relaxed when it seemed no one was looking at them. “You’re going to get me recognized, boy.” He took a slurp from the drink in his hand, an aggressively pink thing with ice cubes floating in it. “Call me Dio if you must call me anything.”
Too confused to disagree, Nico nodded. “How are you here?”
Dionysus slurped his drink again. “The drinks here are to die for.” He waved his hand, and an identical cup appeared in front of Nico. When he hesitated, Dionysus raised an eyebrow. “Drink.”
Nico peered down at the flimsy paper straw and cautiously took a sip. It wasn’t half bad. He took another sip. “So, what, they don’t have coffee shops on Olympus?”
Dionysus wrinkled his nose. “Those dastardly shops only serve all organic ambrosia now that Iris has taken over.” The god drank some more of his beverage, and Nico had to bite back a laugh at how ridiculous the divine man looked sipping bright pink liquid from a paper straw.
Nico tried again. “I thought you couldn’t be in your Greek form here without going insane.”
“You forget, boy, that I am the god of insanity,” Dionysus answered. “And some things are worth the risk. Like Mango dragon fruit.” He took a loud slurp.
Nico supposed that made sense, though he vividly remembered Jason describing Dionysus and Bacchus being one of the split gods during the war that had trouble retaining either form. And the drink wasn’t that good.
“I also heard that fight you just had with Poseidon’s boy, and I must say, I agree with him.”
The drink suddenly turned to ash in his mouth. He coughed, then winced, knowing his next words could get him turned into a dolphin but knowing he couldn’t stop them. “Why do you care?”
Fortunately, Dionysus didn’t seem to be too preoccupied with Nico’s disrespectful behavior. He appeared to think for a moment, though, knowing Dionysus, he could have just been warding off brain freeze. (Did gods get brain freeze? He’d have to ask Apollo next time he visited Camp.) “Contrary to what I have said before, and, honestly, how I felt for much of the last century, I have come to care for you unruly children I was regrettably placed in charge of.”
“I certainly feel cared for.”
“Good.”
Nico shook his head. “I still want to go. I have to know if Iapetus is alive.”
“A noble quest.” Finally reaching the end of his drink, Dionysus looked to the side, an odd expression on his face. “Are you sure it will be worth it?”
To stop feeling the guilt eating away at him, to stop the nightmares that still plagued him? “Yes.”
Dionysus leaned forward. “I’ll be sure to tell your boyfriend that when he’s standing over your corpse.”
Nico refused to listen to any more. He knew what he needed, and he knew if he didn’t go, he would never find closure, and he also knew from experience that that was no way to live. “We’re done here.”
Grabbing his drink, he stood to leave, but Dionysus seemingly had one more thing to tell him. “Careful, boy. One day, you’ll need my help, and I might not be feeling so generous.”
He could unpack that later. For now, he walked right out the door, leaving Dionysus sipping a new drink, this one purple, and staring after him.
Nico walked until he found an alley and ducked into it to catch his breath, just then noticing the droplets of rain dotting his bare arms. Suddenly, there was a loud clap of thunder, and the drizzle turned into a deluge, soaking him instantly. He looked up at the sky. “Fuck you!”
It only rained harder.

Across New Rome in the Camp Jupiter dining area, Will Solace was having a lovely conversation with fifth cohort Centurion Hazel Levesque.
“So,” she was saying, “what did you think of the infirmary?” Now that she had seen Camp Half-Blood and gotten a chance to really explore it, Hazel had confessed to being worried that some of their facilities weren’t up to standard, though one look at the infirmary had Will assuring her that her worries were unfounded.
“It was great. I really loved the organization you have going on in there,” he said. Privately, he added that it was far better than he expected. For some reason, when he thought of the Camp Jupiter infirmary, he had been worried it would be reminiscent of a medical tent like the ones they had brought with them during the Giant War, but thankfully, they had a real building as well.
All of a sudden, his phone buzzed, and he smiled sheepishly at Hazel. “Sorry, it’s from Nico.” He quickly scanned the message. “He’s upset with Percy and Jason.”
Hazel frowned. “Why?”
Still looking at his phone, Will said, “He didn’t say.” Then, he looked up but almost immediately looked back down when his phone buzzed again. “He’s also upset with Leo.” There was another buzz. “And Dionysus.” It buzzed a final time. “And Zeus.”
Hazel laughed, and Will laughed with her. “Of course he is.”

A character study on Will Solace's life. Also Solangelo babies and A LOT of Shakespeare references. Listened to All Too Well (10 minutes) (Taylor's Version) while writing this.
The first home Will Solace had ever known was the one he was born in. His mum tried to be the best version of herself. But she was a kid herself, only 19. But he was lucky. He grew up in a literal mansion that his grandparents owned. Acres and acres of land in which he ran every morning.
His grandfather didn’t really like him which was okay as he was his grandma’s favourite. Inez Solace would never turn her back on her 19-year-old daughter and her son. Well, she had blocked his mother out of her view as she wasn’t the perfect daughter she wished she had. For her, Will was her chance to make a decent heir to her inheritance. Naomi didn’t care. She just wanted a house for her son to grow up in. Even if that meant that she had to deal with her suffocating parents.
Will knew that he was different from an incredibly young age. He didn’t like doing things normal kids his age enjoyed or staying in one place. But he was willing to do everything to please his grandparents. In that way, he thought that he could make Naomi not go on tour again and stay with him. He needed her. There was also Will’s favourite topic of discussion. His father. The dreaded topic his entire family enjoyed avoiding more than anything. His mum only gave him vague answers. He was sure that his grandparents knew even less than him. He could see it in their eyes. But it was fine. It always was.
Be good for us.
Be kind for us.
Be obedient for us.
Be a good student for us.
Learn three languages for us.
Go to Medical School for us.
Make us proud.
Despite the few holes in his family relationships, everything was all right. He spent the first seven years of his life, laughing, running and getting treated like a prince. He had everything he ever wished for. His grandparents made sure of it.
But everything changed when he was seven. Naomi was afraid that someone or something, sooner or later would come after Will. She wanted to protect him with her life. Even if that meant sending him to a camp outside New York for children like him.
The second home he discovered was Cabin 7 and his rowdy older siblings. Especially Lee Fletcher. The outspoken Shakespeare-loving brother carved “The sun with one eye vieweth all the world” outside their cabin. His older brother who made sure to include him in everything. To let him know that even when everyone turns their back on him, there’s always Lee. When the sun shines there is always Lee.
The cold dinners on marble dining tables turned into bustling warm and sunny meals. With people who liked hanging out with him not because his grandparents forced them to be with him. Not because they wanted to get some of his glory. They loved Will like their family. He was their family.
But he watched his second home set ablaze in the span of two summers. He managed to lose everyone he had loved. He managed to be on his own, losing a part of his self. Not knowing how to feel about being on his own for the very first time in his life.
Will’s third home was the one he built from the ground up. The one that took most of his energy but ended up being the one who stayed with him for the rest of his life. Nico di Angelo never made it easy for him. And he wouldn’t want it to be. If he could go back in time, he wouldn’t change a single thing.
They were both in pain and in need of each other’s company. Will knew that dating Nico would take a lot of effort and energy from him. He knew that their timing was terrible. Nico had severe PTSD and acute clinical depression. And Will? Well, let's say he had problems of his own. Watching people dying in front of you leaves you with the trauma you can just shove under the carpet.
They weren't the couple every high school sitcom was talking about. They were dysfunctional but in their own unique way. They could talk to each other and ease their pain, even a little bit. He knew that sometimes Nico would try to shut him out or push him away to 'save' him from the monster he thought he was. But Will never budged. He loved him too much to let him go.
But gaining Nico’s trust and love made everything different for Will. He would sneak into his cabin right before curfew and stay with him the whole night. In the same bed that was too small to fit them both. Legs intertwined, his head on Nico’s shoulder and their fingers brushing. He wouldn’t change that feeling for the world. Late night talks, stargazing, sleepless nights enjoying each other’s company.
Will only fell in love once in his life. He didn’t need anyone else. He never thought that he would be in a meaningful relationship with anyone. He knew how awful families could be and he didn’t want to force anyone into a toxic situation. He hated being on the sidelines during family dinners. He hated the tension that only grew between his mother and grandmother. And he hated knowing how it felt not being able to talk to anyone in your family.
He also didn’t consider himself worthy of love. Being the ‘different’ one in his family was never easy. Especially when a person in your family doesn’t accept the people you love. Will never thought that his family would have a problem with his sexuality. Naomi didn’t even bat an eye before hugging him and his grandmother would never admit how much she hated it. She would just bite her tongue and move on. But his grandfather voiced his opinion on his ‘sins’ on several occasions. It didn’t matter to him. He loved Nico and nobody could change that. Or take it away from him. And his family knew that.
Go to Harvard for us.
Finish first in your class.
Do your residency in a top hospital.
Will kept doing things his family wanted. At least he was lucky enough that the path he wanted to make for himself was the one his grandparents wanted. But he hated being the golden child. He wished he could retaliate and do something completely different. But Nico knew that if he threw Medicine out of his life, he would lose a piece of himself. And his grandparents didn’t deserve the risk.
Will came home from his 30 hours shift. He hated being away from Nico for so long. He wanted to wake up next to him every morning and be with him all day. He loved his company and the way he felt around him. It was this numbing sensation of being next to the person you love. Like a complete bliss.
He unlocked the door to their apartment and entered inside. He left his shoes in the entrance and scanned the room. Books scattered around every surface of the living room, deem lighting, and everything in its place. He made his way to their room where he found his boyfriend reading a book. Will climbed in bed next to him and rested his head on his chest. Nico pretty much unbothered by his boyfriend’s presence resumes reading the book he was holding. “Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, and therefore is winged cupid painted blind.”
“Romeo and Juliet?” Will asked not moving from his spot.
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream. You’re losing your touch, Solace.” Nico replied looking softly at his side.
“Maybe you should read Shakespeare more often then.” He suggested.
“Maybe I should.” He smirked in return. Nico closed the book and placed it on his nightstand. He turned to Will and kissed him. “I missed you. A lot.”
“I missed you too.”
“How much longer will it be like this?” He asked him.
“I finish residency next year.”
“I didn’t mean residency.” Nico clears his throat. “I meant you and me. Like this.”
“This is for life,” Will whispered.
“Good. Because you can’t get rid of me.” He declared smiling. He kissed Will once again, starved for his touch. I kiss thee with a most constant heart.
Home is not a place or a building. For Will home is the people he surrounds himself with. The people who loved him and took care of him. Home it’s the people you let in and the memories you never forget. The ones that become so familiar that are a part of yourself.
Will wouldn’t change his life. Despite the exhaustion and the pain. There is always the sun. The warmth and the catharsis.
“Who could refrain, That had a heart to love and in that heart, courage to make love known?”
Will heard Nico saying in a hushed voice. He had just managed to put their 6-month-old daughter and 3-year-old son to sleep for the night. He made his way across the hall. He tried to open the door as quietly as he could. Despite his best efforts, his 5-year-old turned to his side with her big blue eyes staring at him. Nico was sitting on the floor next to her bed with a book in hand.
“You’re reading Shakespeare?” He asked Bianca as he kneeled on the floor next to his husband. He also noticed Albus, Bianca’s beagle was under her bed as usual. The small dog ran to him, wanting his attention.
6 months after she was born, Will and Nico decided that they were sick of the traditional fairy tales. That lead them to read Bianca stories like The Iliad, Lord of the rings, Shakespeare and other Classics. Did they regret it? Never.
“No, I’m reading King Lear.” She replied like it was common sense. Like she was proud of outsmarting her dad. God, this was his home.
“Let me play the lion too: I will roar that I will do any man's heart good to hear me. I will roar that I will make the duke say 'Let him roar again, let him roar again.” Will said.
It was by far his favourite Shakespeare quote. The first time he heard it, Lee was delivering a dramatic monologue in their cabin. It was his first night as a claimed camper. With those lines, Lee wanted to make Will welcome to their family. That was what it was. A family motto. One that stayed with him for the rest of his life. He just remembered the memory all too well. Michael laughing next to him and whistling as Lee finished reciting holding a toothbrush. How it reminded him of innocence! Beckendorf, Silena, Castor, and Pollux overhearing them from outside. Everything was so fragile and glistening. Nothing could change the way he felt that day. Listening to that phrase for the first time. And everyone repeating it as soon as Lee was finished.
“That’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream,’ right?” She turned to Nico.
“Yes, darling,” Nico said too proud for her. He turned to him. “I see you finally read your material.”
“Just caught up with it. Let’s not forget that I was the one who introduced you to Shakespeare.” He declared.
“Can you say it again? Please?” Bianca asked him.
“Let me play the lion too: I will roar that I will do any man's heart good to hear me. I will roar that I will make the duke say 'Let him roar again, let him roar again.’ Do you know what it means?”
“No.” She replied waiting for an answer.
“It’s an act of bravery. It’s the promise of a family. If you roar and make yourself loud, you’ll continue to grow. It’s the same with a family. When you call us, we’re a pack. Nobody gets left behind.” Will told her with Nico looking at his side. He tucked Bianca into her bed and kissed her on the forehead. “Now sleep, or there won’t be any more Shakespeare.”
“No!” She giggled. “I don’t want to sleep.”
Will and Nico got up. “I’ll sell your toys,” Nico warned her as he closed the lights. “Goodnight, princess.”
That was his home.

Your Beauty Never Ever Scared Me - Teaser
Since I’ve just started on the seventh chapter and I’m a little over 11k words already, I’ve decided that I’d share a little bit of the first chapter on here as a way to promote my story! When I start updating regularly, you’ll be able to find the story on here, Wattpad, and Ao3. Ao3 is probably going to be the place that I update the most, but I’ll try to on here. Wattpad’s a little bit more complicated since I have to update my format whenever I copy and paste the story on there so it takes a little bit longer for me to post chapters there.
Now onto the teaser!!
This book belongs to : Will Solace (Apollo Cabin)
So, here I am, writing in a stupid Journal. I just want to say, if you’re mortal, then please, stop reading this, this isn’t a normal journal. If you’re a demi-god and stole this, please stop reading as well, this is private.
This is where I go when things get hard, I know, I know, I’m a healer, things aren’t supposed to ‘be hard’ for me, but they are.
I don’t think things would be as hard as they are if it weren’t for Nico di Angelo, son of Hades. He’s always walking around like he owns the Camp, well, news-flash, Nico, you don’t own this Camp.
I mean, I get it, the kids had a hard life so far, but that doesn’t make him better than anyone else!
Part of my brain is saying ‘Get as far away from that kid as you can, he’s no good,’ while the other part, the doctor part, is saying ‘You’ve got to help him, he’s obviously got depression and if you don’t help him and he kills himself, that’s on you, Solace’.
I’m just not sure what to do. Do I listen to the healer side of my brain or the reasonable side of it?
I think first, I should listen to the healer part and then go from there to see if he’s really that bad or not.
I thought back to our first encounter, about how sarcastic he was just a few days ago, and how I was currently forcing him to stay in the infirmary.
“Put that down!” I hissed, careful to keep my voice quiet, “What are you doing here?
“Me?” Nico asked, “What are you doing here? Getting yourselves killed?”
“Hey, we’re scouting the enemy. We took precautions,”
“You dressed in black.” Nico noted, “With the sun coming up. You even went as far as painting your faces but didn’t think about covering up that mop of blond hair. You’re basically a waving yellow flag,”
My ears turned red and I blushed
That’s all for now! I hope you all enjoyed that little teaser! It’s not a lot for the first few chapters and I’m still not really liking Nico and Will’s relationship right now, but I’m hoping that I’ll start liking it more here soon. I also don’t feel like I’m writing Nico right. I’ve never written a story in First Person POV before so this is my first book and I’m still new at trying to get their personalities right. So, with that being said, if there’s anything you guys think that I could change, please let me know. FYI, the italic lines mean a memory (I took that entire scene straight from the book (Altering it a little bit for Will’s POV and I own none of these characters, I own the plot and that is it))

Helpless part 10 (shocking that my internet hasn't given up yet)
"So Solace what exactly are we doing?"
"Down to play twenty questions?" Nico considered the offer and smirked,
"Sure." The two sat down next to each other on a log.
"Two skips each, but they get replaced with other questions."
"What's something that isn't a secret but most people don't know about you?" He was ridiculously bored and thought he could use this game to his advantage.
"I'm not actually blonde."
"Explain. Now."
"I was brunette but when I got claimed any part of my hair that was in the sun turned blonde." He pulled out a piece of his hair that wasn't normally visible, it was a light chesnut brown colour.
"Well that's shocking, you know when I asked that question that was not an answer I was expecting."
"I'm a mysterious person di Angelo, now, do you have any exes?"
"Solace I spend most of my time avoiding people."
"In hindsight that was a pretty dumb question."
"Too late, if you had to kill all the people in one cabin which one would it be?"
"Demeter. That was a bit of a violent question." He tried to play it off but his answer had been so quick and confident Nico started to wonder what had happened. "Have you ever drunk?"
"More than you would expect."
"Neeks! You're fourteen, have you ever wondered why there are age restrictions?" Nico just smirked,
"You asked Sun boy, anyways technically I'm older than that. What's the worst crime you have ever committed?"
"Love how you just assume I've committed crimes, but assult. The only reason it wasn't murder is Annabeth pulling me off."
"The fuck Solace, are you going to explain that?"
"I'd rather not, let's just say I was pretty...pissed that day."
"Well that's terrifying."
"I told you I have secrets di Angelo, who's someone you used to care about but now hate?"
"Skip."
"Is it true you liked Annabeth?"
"Really Solace? No it is not, otherwise Percy would have already murdered me."
"Had to ask, the Aphrodite cabin was trying to figure that out for two years."
"Truly incredible, can you fight with a sword?"
"Not in the slightest."
"I'm teaching you, archery will be useless in close combat. You will die in a matter of seconds ."
"You have so much confidence in me Neeks, but thanks for the offer."
"Wasn't an offer, more so a kidnapping where I teach you by force how to fight."
"Okay then...do you prefer the 1930s or now?"
"Now, better arcades."
"Great reasoning."
"What's your worst fear?"
"Pass, I would never hear the end of it."
"Can't be that bad."
"You would never shut up about it Neeks, I can guess that much." Nico locked eyes with the blonde boy, he considered the question he was about to ask.
"Do you regret coming out to all of camp?" So he did know, Will thought to himself. He didn't answer instantly but he didn't want to pass it either.
"Well, um.."
"You have skips, you don't have to answer Will." That was the first time Nico had used his actual name, Will desperately wanted to kiss him.
"I want to answer it just, thinking. I'm happy they know and I don't have to hide it but...some people aren't the nicest. Cabin four has the most for whatever reason, they seem to get joy out of making me feel like shit. Most people are nice enough, with the rest, well you get used to it." Nico grabbed his hand,
"Who. Has. Been. Giving. You. Shit? Give me a list, I will make sure they'll never do anything again."
"Neeks it's fine, I don't need you threatening them."
"I'll be doing a lot more than threats Solace, give me a list of every single person who has hurt you."
"Nico it's okay."
"Did I ask? You're a ball of sunshine, no one and I mean no one has any reason to hurt you."
"They do, there's so many people I couldn't save, I killed them. I deserve to suffer because of that, they deserve revenge on me for killing their friends." Will had tears forming in his eyes.
"Will it's not your fault they died, and either way you shouldn't have to go through this."
"Nico, are you straight?" He froze for a second, he had still been holding Will's hand but he didn't want to let go. He was warm, his thumb was stroking his hand warming up the usually freezing Ghost king. After Will had told him so much he couldn't lie, he always had a skip but part of him wanted Will to know.
"..n..no...I'm gay. Not that many people know, the seven and Reyna that's it. Please don't tell anyone." Nico shakes a bit and a few tears fell, he didn’t want to cry in front of him but he couldn’t help it. Will wrapped his free arm around Nico and pulled him closer to himself,
"Thank you for telling me, I know it's hard Neeks."
"How did you tell so many people?"
"Didn't like people assuming things, also I just...didn't want to hide I guess. Still though, I've been too scared to tell my mum, barely seen her since I'm here all year but even if I had the chance to I probably wouldn't tell her. As for the actual time well it was a while after Percy was missing, before Jason, Piper and Leo showed up, campfire, just kinda said if at the end."
"Did anyone know before that?"
"I told Annabeth first but Kayla and Austin found out by themselves pretty quickly. Who was your first crush?"
"Do not hold this against me, it was Percy." Will started grinning,
"Same, half the camp has liked him at this point I swear."
"Half of camp is pathetic."
"You're including yourself in that statement you know."
"I am fully aware, honestly I should have given up on him when I saw him talking to Annabeth the first time."
"Didn't they hate each other for a few years?"
"Hate is a strong word, I prefer to use hopelessly in love and oblivious."
"Lovely wording; I gave up when my brain started working and I realised he is straight."
"You think Percy is straight? Have you talked to him before?"
"Percy isn't straight?!"
"With the way he talked about Luke? Not a chance, and that was after he betrayed him. I can only imagine him pining over him at the age of twelve, completely oblivious, then also being hopelessly in love with Annabeth and being a helpless simp once more."
"So you are telling me Percy Jackson liked Luke Castellan, aka. the person who tried to kill him multiple times?"
"When he was twelve definitely, at least in the way he talked about what he was like before when I met him. Don't know if he realised it then, but he is not straight. You haven't seen him and Jason talk, if I didn't know how much he loved Annabeth, going to Taturus with her I would have been sure they're secretly dating."
"The more you know I guess. What's something you can do that no one knows about?"
"I can braid hair, I mean Hazel knows that but still."
"Emo Death boy can braid hair."
"Firstly, I'm not emo."
"Keep thinking that Neeks."
"Secondly, this is why I don't tell people this."
"Honestly the fact you can braid hair is adorable, also it proves that you are no where near as scary as you think."
"I could kill you right now."
"You sure about that di Angelo? Right now you can't do much without melting into a puddle of darkness, you're just a nerd that's pretending to be dark and mysterious."
"Oh shut up Solace."
"Never."
"Have you been on a quest?"
"Nope, I just try to prevent deaths after them."
"How many languages can you speak?"
"Wait give me a second, Itallian, Greek moderen and ancient, Latin, English, French, Spanish, Swedish, Portuguese, Polish, Finnish, German and Dutch. So that's twelve and a half I'm fluet in and I'm trying to teach myself Russian and Japanese." He said counting them off on his fingers
"Gods Nico, what exactly do you do with your free time?"
"Well first four are pretty obvious but Bianca taught me French and Swedish and the rest I've taught myself, writing's hell with dyslexia but I've survived. It's a pretty useful skill when you randomly show up in different countries."
"I can barely speak English properly half the time!"
"That sounds like a problem on your side Sunshine." He said messing up the blonde boys hair, Will desperately tried to hide his blushing. "Have you ever passed out because you healed too many people?"
"Yeah, happens quite a bit." Nico slapped him, not that hard but hard enough for it to hurt. "Hey what was that for?"
"You can't be overworking yourself like that Solace, you're a doctor for Zeus's sake. What help is it going to be if you pass out while healing someone?"
"It's the most effective way, plus I get more people healed."
"So let me get this straight, you risk your own health while telling people not to?"
"Okay when you put it that way-"
"Yeah it sounds bad! Please do not do that, can't have you dying on me Solace"
"I thought you were plotting to kill me anyways?"
"Exactly, can't have you dying before I kill you myself."
"Sure di Angelo, have you ever killed anyone?"
"Pass." He had become friendly with Will, he didn't need anyone else leaving him.
"Cats or dogs?"
"Do hellhounds count? I have a pet hellhound called Mrs O'Leary."
"Was that a gift from Hades?"
"Nope, from Percy."
"Wait what? I'm just going to accept that at this point."
"Good idea, I wasn't planning to explain."
"Course you weren't," Will checked his watch. "Come on Neeks, it's time for lunch, we got through ten questions each, same time tomorrow?"
"I don't have a choice do I?"
"Nope; head to the infirmary I'll get you some food."
"I'm not hungry."
"You haven't eaten for a few days, just try to eat a few bites."
"Fine.." Nico muttered before walking off to the infirmary.
