Fic-to-Art #32: Sokka and Azula's first time
This month's prompt was 'intimacy', and my Patrons picked a pretty important scene for that purpose :') I, of course, went slightly out of control and, uh, well... with a prompt like that, it's hard to hold back a weirdo like me, sorry not sorry x'D
In short: the full version of this month's reward is in fact 8 pieces rather than this one. This is basically the only one I dare use here for obvious reasons :'D Unfortunately, my attempt to post this on a separate Tumblr post, under its "mature" guidelines, resulted in a flagged post regardless. The guidelines of this site about art of this nature are REALLY something else, huh? :')
Honestly... this prompt ended up meaning a lot to me because of how many times I tried and failed to portray this scene properly. Especially the bits I drew for it this time :'D It's no exaggeration to say that this was one of the very first scenes I plotted, and also one of the first I tried to make proper art of. Still, I wasn't good enough to pull it off before... and somehow, I managed to do it this time!
Hope you guys liked it! If you'd like to be part of the creative process behind these pieces, a $1 Patreon pledge is enough to make you eligible for joining the prompt suggestion process, as well as reading Gladiator snippets 6 days before each update!

Sokkla Digital Oil Painting: The Slate (Inspired by Seyary Minamoto’s “Gladiator”)
Tumblr media
Ahhh, so long time no see. My life has been a bit chaotic as of late, and this painting took me way longer than it should have, but it’s finally finished!
Conveniently, me finishing this lined up pretty closely to Seyary posting her 300th chapter of Gladiator!! So this is to celebrate that, even if it was on accident! 🤣
This artwork is based on Chapter 90 of Seyary Minamoto’s “Gladiator”, and it is a depiction of one of my favorite fights. I’m pretty sure Sokka is supposed to be using Wolf’s Bane in this scene, but... oops 🤷‍♂️ I’m too lazy to fix it now haha.
I was so nervous about painting the fire here, but I really liked how it turned out! I ended up just mixing the colors together in a chaotic manner, then going over it with the pallet knife. And then I used the airbrush tool to add the glow.
There really wasn’t anything too complicated here. The perspective took me a while to get right, but this was mostly a pretty relaxing one (despite the very not relaxing moment it depicts haha!).
Again, congratulations to @seyaryminamoto on posting 300 chapters of Gladiator!! What an outstanding accomplishment! She is such a dedicated and kind person; words cannot describe how lucky I feel to be able to read such an outstanding story from such an incredible writer 😊
Sadly, I cannot promise that I will be more active in the near future. But I will promise that I will keep making art! Just maybe at a slow pace 😔 I also need to catch up on my Gladiator reading! I’m getting far behind ahhhhhhh

Where you are, there I am - Sokkla Saturdays 2022
Day 5: Jealous and protective Sokka
You can also read here & here
Okay, I think I should say a thing or two. Today's story was very unplanned because originally I was supposed to post it as a oneshot independent on Sokkla Saturdays. But plans changed and after organizing my other entries, I decided today is a good day to post my oneshot. I admit the ending is rushed, because I didn't want it to be any longer.
Main part was supposed to be when Azula meets Sokka... by the glass that seperates them. I don't know but such a scene was in my head for a very long time. Last year a friend and I decided to write our own oneshots with the same prompt and I thought "hey, a good opportunity to test that scene!".
And yes, I think Brother Bear has just names that fit the world of Avatar especially the Water Tribes so well!! So here we go!=)
The gathering was never ending. Especially for Sokka, whose eyes were locked on Azula every now and then. Her eyes met his and as always the world seemed to stand still for them.
“The north is a mess. We'll need to plan our mission quickly. The rebels are growing day by day and they will stop at nothing until they invade our homeland” Hakoda explained, “The King in the north is still in his illness sleep and if he doesn’t wake up soon, his son who replaces him for the time being, won’t stop this mess. He is nothing like the King.” The Chief of the southern water tribe was worried.
Azula listened to him halfheartedly since she was feeling Sokka’s  gaze still linger on her figure.
Being the ambassador of her father, she partly lived here for weeks now. Beforehand Sokka was the ambassador of his tribe in the fire nation. Everyone was aware of the tension between them. There were clearly deep emotions, that much was clear to the world around them. But they never acted out on their feelings for each other.
“Maybe Princess Azula should marry the Prince of the northern water tribe.”
“No!” tearing his eyes away from Azula, Sokka interrupted immediately and harshly.
Everyone at large tent looked at him.
As if his no would be final. No discussion would be necessary, because he would stop at nothing if anyone dared to think about this pathetic proposal ever again.
“That's the only sol…”
“I said no!” he retorted “Such thing will never happen!”
“Neither Azula nor Katara will do such a thing. I never want to hear this again. We are not sacrificing anyone like this, especially not women.” Hakoda added.
“Do you believe this would be a solution to stop the rebels?” Azula asked interrupting them.
The situation was serious she knew. And of course, she would never do anything without her own will. Nor was such a suggestion ever made. Part of her intention with the question was to see Sokka’s reaction. Her thought was spot on because his already short temper was growing worse. He was slowly but surely going mad, standing at the verge of his nerves.
He turned to her again seriously and clearly unpleased, with an angry growl on his face.
“It's just an idea.” She turned to Sokka with that. His serious blue eyes were appealing. And they we're clearly sending her a message saying “Don't even think about it! Don’t mess with me!”
“We won't do that Princess Azula. I will not allow anyone to sacrifice themselves like this for those rebels.” Hakoda told her. Then he turned towards the others “I have some ideas. But for now, I want to talk with Bato alone.”
Everyone was already leaving the tent except for one person. Sokka walked to the chief, clearly troubled still.
“Father”
“Sokka, I already told everyone: we won't allow such a thing of course, don’t worry son.” His father replied. “I assumed the north might want to benefit from the fire na…”
“They would have to go through me because never will I allow such a thing!” Sokka spoke harshly
“I know and neither will we”
“Father I made up my mind”
Azula was standing at the entrance of the tent and didn't leave it either, listening to every word Sokka spoke.
“I'm going to sail to kyoshi island with my warrior friends. We'll fight and be done with the rebels. We’ll crash down their settlement at kyoshi island and show that heartless Prince that we will never back down!”
Hakoda expected his son to make a hasty decision since Sokka was brave and tired of this. Yet he couldn't help but still be taken aback a bit.
“Sokka this is too unplanned”
“It is, yes but we have to try. It’ll be worth it. Father I'm done I want peace I want freedom I want to be finally happy with Az…”
“I will come with my soldiers too we're joining you” Azula suddenly interrupted. the gazes of father and son turned to her abruptly. She strode closer to them.
Sokka’s body turned fully towards her.
“Azula I need to solve this matter alone you were at too much risk already, I want you to stay safe.”
“Princess” Hakoda continued “we are well aware of your leading qualities, and we appreciate how capable you are. But you are their enemy too we cannot risk it. Neither your father would want to risk it.
Before the conversation could go on a soldier called for Azula and Hakoda. A message from the fire nation arrived. Sokka’s gaze lingered on Azula while she walked towards the entrance.
................................................................................................
Sokka had gathered his friends the evening before. They made the plan before Sokka even told anything to his father. Setting the plan in motion tonight before dawn broke was the goal. Their preparations were almost ready. His thoughts and his mind full of her. She was everything to him. He smiled while he remembered her beautiful face. Surely the day neared where they would never separate again and where they would live happily forever.
He was determined to not bring her with him. She would be angry yes, but she already has done so many things and he would definitely not risk her life any longer. The rebels would also target for her too since she is the daughter of the Fire Lord.
He walked to her tent.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that she was outside as well, probably looking for him. Azula also knew that if Sokka was determinate, he would go through it. He was so obsessed with keeping her safe that he would just go, leaving her behind if it meant no harm would come to her.
Despite the unpleased glare she sent Sokka’s way, her expression softened when he came closer and gave her a warm smile.
“Were you looking for me Princess?” he asked playfully.
“I know that your ship is already ready, and you plan on going tonight without me.” she said.
His smile faded.
“Sokka, this isn't okay. We are a team and they're Fire Nation's enemies as well, I'll come with you. I won't just sit back.” Her eyebrows narrowed so did his.
“I don't want to separate from you a second, but we need to put an end to this Azula. This will end without any harm I promise. And you know I always do keep my promises to you” he gave her a heartfelt smile.
She tried to stand by her points without falling for his beautiful smile.
“You said it: “we” need to put an end to this. If you won't let me join you” she continued.
“Azula it's not that I do not…”
“Then maybe I can marry the Prince and end it my way!”
“Stop it! It's not a joke and it's not fun!” he was angry
“Who said it’s a joke?!”
“Azula!”
They didn't realize that they were inching closer while they were talking. As ever.
For a moment both of them fell silent.
Was it so hard to say the word? To say I'm in love with you? What made it so hard to hug each other tightly, kiss those lips and be two against the world? Both knew the burden would be lifted upon their shoulders if they gave in their feelings. But the pain? With the pain in their hearts that insert the other, would all the other pain be gone too? For that would be only possible if both of them were feeling the same way for each other. If they both would be completely sure the other was feeling the same deep love, same intense emotions. If only their lips would utter the words the way their eyes were screaming with love and passion.
“So, you'll go and risk your life just like that? Good! Do that then good luck!”
He looked at her with pain in his eyes. She was emotional she really was. Both of them tried to protect each other. Before tears could flow out of her eyes she turned around to leave, but he stopped her by pulling her forearm towards him. So that her face was really close to his. So that the only thing she could see were his sincere and burning eyes.
“There is nothing I wouldn't do to keep you safe!”
Their faces only inches away, breathing heavily against lips.
“Sokka, we start our walk to the boats now.” Koda, son of Bato and good friend of both Azula and Sokka interrupted the moment.
Azula freed her arm out of his soft grip and started to walk first. Sokka huffed and turned to give Koda a nod.
Sokka decided it would be better for Koda to stay in the tribe alongside Azula. If only he knew…
As displeased as she was with his plan, she still accompanied them to the cold shore. To see him one last time before he sailed away to Kyoshi Island. Sokka innerly knew that was why she waited outside the whole time. Both knew the other very well.
“It’s too cold Azula. Don’t stay outside for too long.” Here he was again. Always caring for her. Always trying to protect her from any possible harm. “You’re a firebender after all.” His compassionate smile turned into a smirk.
Azula said nothing, and his smirk vanished.
After a short time of hesitation, they leaned forward and hugged each other tightly.
“Be careful fool.” She muttered into his shoulder.
He giggled silently. “I will my Princess.”
They broke the hug, but his arms lingered on her upper arms. Hers on his chest.
“Don’t tell them you knew of my plan. Father will get angry, but I’m sure he will understand.” Sokka said.
“Don’t tell me what to do.” Azula said smirking.
One last hug and then he climbed onto the huge boat.
“It’s dark Azula. Get back into the igloo.” He whispered loudly.
“Haven’t I told you not to tell me what to do?” she said in her usual tone. Sokka smiled at that.
Despite herself, she turned around with Koda and started walking towards the village.
Sokka watched until he couldn’t see them in the dark anymore. He smiled sadly. They’re going to reunite. Happy days are waiting for them he knew. He would propose to her. He would spend all his time next to the woman he loved more than his own life…
Unbeknownst to Sokka and his warriors on the boat, Azula and Koda hid before even entering the village. When the boat was out of sight, Azula gave Koda a meaningful look.
“Azula…” Koda huffed “You both are stubborn you know? Must you always do what you want to do instead of sitting back once?”
“Yes Koda!” Azula said. “Now get the boat, we shouldn’t waste any more time.”
Koda let out a groan but did as they planned. Azula smiled at her annoyed friend.
................................................................................................
The arrival already started with a disaster. Citizens on kyoshi island prepared a fight too. After Sokka's group arrived they joined them.
The rebels weren't a big group yet their determination and believe that the northern prince stood behind them gave them a confidence that was actually scary.
Yet what reached the island next shocked and angered Sokka more: Azula and Koda ran to join the fight as well.
All plans flew down the stream because no one expected people on kyoshi island to form a resistance, which was great but unexpected.
His sword on one hand and his club on the other Sokka fought his way through the rebels.
"Azula, what are you doing here!" he yelled.
Azula, the best firebender he ever saw, looked even beautiful in the midst of the fight.
"Did you really believe I would just stay behind and accept you leaving me?" she yelled back for him to hear her. It wasn't easy to fight and talk.
"What the..." he let out a growl while hitting his club on the neck of one of his enemies "I didn't leave you! I want to protect you and keep you safe!"
Escalation was on sight when the rebels proved to be very efficient. Azula and Sokka couldn't see each other anymore.
Sokka was known to be a strong and an almost undefeatable warrior. Yet with so many enemies on the battlefield it was difficult. He was caught, and in the heat of the big fight his team and Azula didn't notice it immediately.
The rebels who weren't harmed backed down suddenly. Their leader gave Azula and Sokka's team a smirk and vanished with the rest.
She had a bad feeling. A very bad one. She turned everywhere, her eyes searching for one person.
"Where is Sokka?"
................................................................................................
The rebels kept Sokka locked in their settlements prison. Sokka heard them talking worriedly but couldn't hear what it was exactly. Did the northern king wake up maybe? He surely hoped so. It would be a final solution to free the world from those rebels.
A day later Sokka seemed to slowly lose his temper. There was no way of getting out of this cell room. Unlike other cells, there were no railings just a glass wall.
What happened to Azula? And his team? Were they safe? If anything happened to them especially if anything happened to Azula he would burn the whole world down and never forgive himself for being unable to protect her.
The door to the prison opened up suddenly and Azula came in with a black cloak.
„Azula” he almost yelled and ran to the icy glass. She had tears in her amber eyes. Tears that made her already beautiful eyes shine even brighter. Eyes that melt the heart of everyone that would look into them. She put her hands on the glass.
“Sokka” she managed to utter which made him desperate to break the ice and hug her.
„ What are you doing here you must go Azula if they see you…”
“I missed you” tears fell through her cheeks. Sokka tried to hold back. He really tried hard. But he was only strong enough not to cry as hard as she did.
“I missed you too Azula. All I think is you. Everything I do indeed has always been first and foremost for you, you know what that right? Shhh don't cry” he brought his lips tenderly to the icy glass and kissed her palm and fingers.
Azula stopped crying for a moment taken aback as she was. Only to form new tears. He put his forehead on the glass and gave her a sad smile encouraging her that everything would be fine soon.
“I want to keep you safe too you know.” She said putting her forehead against the ice wall too. Linking their foreheads separated by the cruel wall and Sokka’s smile grew at that.
“Soon we'll be together again. And then we can't be tear it apart ever ag…”
He couldn't finish his words when he heard footsteps. It could be anyone and Azula was standing there. Yes she was strong and the best bender ever, but it was still too risky. Panic rose immediately within his chest. As well I just looked at the direction the sound came from sniffing.
“Azula you have to go now!” Sokka told her desperately.
“No!” she shook her head.
“Azula!” he narrowed his eyes now “Please go Azula it's too risky!”
“No Sokka! I can't leave you here” looking at their situation “I can’t leave you like this!”
“Azula I promise I'll be free it won't be long before we are together again. But now please go. They'll catch you too I won't allow that Azula!”
“Sokka” was all the came out, with a shaky breath and tears that ran over her face by now.
“Azula” the new voice, calling her through a whisper made them spin their heads towards where it came from.
Koda, Sokka’s friend who had accompanied her to cell room.
“We need to leave now” he softly held her arm and tried to take her outside carefully.
“Koda I can’t…” Azula started.
“Azula, northern soldiers are coming towards this building.”
“Azula, go with him now. I’m going to come to you very soon.” Sokka said. The determination in his voice and his eyes partly convinced her.
Sokka and Koda exchanged a meaningful glance and both nodded. Sokka knew Azula was safe with his friend.
His turned his gaze to Azula now who was looking at him sadly. she started walking leaving one hand at the glass. soccer walked with them side by side his hands also on the glass. until they looked into each other's eyes one last time. Until they touched through the icy glass one last time. Azula slowly let go. Slowly turned around and walked away with Koda by her side.
Sokka stood there for a minute. eyes closed hands still on the glass. He turned around screamed with anger and gave the wall a hard punch.
Half an hour later, northern soldiers arrived and let Sokka leave. He wanted to ask questions, but he ran. Ran as fast as he could. Outside, people were looking relieved.
But he was done with everything. He was done with war and heartless people. He was tired of fighting and trying to help other's and burry what he truly wanted and needed in his heart with hope that one day the world would allow him to live the way he wanted: Live with the woman he loved! Keep her in his arms forever.
It wasn't long before he saw her running towards him too. Her hair waving. Azula was feeling the exact same things. She wanted to leave a peaceful life with the man she loved, with Sokka. They could barely take time for themselves and their needs.
A powerful crush of hug. Heavy breathing. Laugh and tears. It wasn't only that Sokka was free. It was a step, a decision to give in each other that made them so desperate. Sokka kissed her cheek and her lips lingered on it longer.
After a while, an admiral from the northern water tribe gave a speech. The king regained his health and woke up. He took the throne again and ordered all rebels to take as prisoners. They were their people who choose a wrong way. So, the final deal would be for the northern water tribe to take.
................................................................................................
Sailing back to their tribe was the original plan, but Azula and Sokka decided to take a smaller boat and go to whale tail island. Sokka proposed to Azula on the boat which she accepted without hesitation, I love you's were exchanged finally. Relieve, peace and love accompanied them for two weeks.
They decided to spend time without anyone else, like a honeymoon before the wedding. They decided against two weddings - a fire nation and water tribe one. Preparations were done and they settled for a smaller wedding that took place on whale tale island.
Happy days were waiting for them...

Sokkla Month Day 10
Somehow I actually done finished a WIP (crazy, IK). Anyways, if you are halfway reading through and is lost in the sauce, just go watch 86 season 2 ep 11 wherever you watch animes or alternatively, go watch this scene.
Also, just a heads up that this is like, pre-relationship so yeah. Also also in b4 people start a fistfight in the comment section Zuko, Azula and Kiyi are not related for the purposes of this AU.
Last but not least, put on this when you see this (*) & this (***), trust me it'll set the mood (at least I hope it will).
Bone apple tea or something because we're here for Sokkla, not the ramblings of a tumblr author.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eighty Six AU
*I'm alone.
Again.
Tired.
So very tired.
Why am I the last one standing? Why?
Is this some cruel joke? The ferrier of the dead, always bringing others to rest, but never his own.
-Wake up, snap out of it.-
-Wake up!-
-I said-
With a start, Sokka woke up with a jolt, the surge of adrenaline now receding as he began to take stock of his surroundings. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the last reminder of his sister, just out of reach on the floorboard surrounded by bits and pieces of screen. Stretching out his hand, he tried to reach for it but the five point harness that prevented him from smashing his head into the main display now held him back from picking up that fragment of the past.
Huffing and puffing, he strained with all his might against the harness, before letting out a yell of frustration that was cut short by the intrusion of a most unwelcome voice. Turning his body, he saw to his left, a lone Legion scout unit, casually approaching his stricken mecha and he swore he saw a glint of satisfaction in the unfeeling robotic eye that stared back.
Did you really think that was the end? How utterly naive.
No, no, no it's not supposed to end like this!
Be honest, this is exactly why you accepted this mission. Always hovering on that edge of life and death, unable to cross over and find peace or truly savour life to the fullest.
Fret not, for now I have come to bring you…deliverance.
His mind now working in overdrive, he glanced frantically for anything that he could use to end his life. Instinctively., he reached for his thigh holster, only to remember that he had given his sidearm to Kiyi. Just as the scout unit raised it front leg to pierce his cockpit and him along with it, it exploded into a million pieces, the voice in his mind terminated in an instant as he saw a girl running towards him, dressed in the colours of his former homeland, the Republic of San Magnolia with a rifle slung on her back, mouthing words that could not be heard as the onboard speakers were shot to hell when his mech was flung a good hundred meters from the exploding sentient railgun. Waving her hand, she however did not get a response.
Gritting her teeth, she held back her angry tears and half stormed off, when Sokka pressed the push to talk button on one of his remaining control panels:
"You're from the Republic of San Magnolia."
At this, the girl turned and replied: Yes, yes I am? Who are you with? Unfortunately for Sokka, the external mics were completely toast, forcing him to to rely on the lip-reader-to-text program.
"I'm with the 177th Mechanized of the Giadian Federacy. My unit was tasked with conducting a deep strike into Legion territory to support frontline operations. Thank you for your support."
Thanks, but are you…..alone? Just you and your Feldreß alone, making your way through God knows how many Legion units?
"Thank you for your concern. The main bulk of the forces should be coming soon, I'll link up with them."
At this, the girl's face visibly relaxed. For a moment, Sokka allowed himself a little leeway to give her a once over. Not too bad, she could've given some of the ladies back in Spearhead a run for their money.
"Will you follow me back to the Federacy?" he asked.
Having been caught off guard by his question, Azula raised her eyebrows. Letting out a sigh, the pilot continued "Look, you're just what, one major and possibly a handful of aluminium trash. We've got more than enough units to spare to take care of you."
Immediately, her mood changed. Who was this ignorant, stuck up Giadian pilot who thought he knew everything about her, treating the people that fought and died under her command like the sacks of useless officers back in District One!
"No." she rebuffed. "I will stay here and fight until my last dying breath. Even if I'm not strong enough to come out on top, I will still give my all."
"Sounds like someone drank too much kool aid." Sokka retorted. "Are you that eager to throw your life away? If so, you should have just stood by and watched."
With his words now successfully getting on her nerves, Azula was fairly certain she would bust that shitty tin can open and emasculate the pilot via her rifle. And she could care less which end she used. Preferably both.
***As she did, an olive green Juggernaut scuttled up to her, warning her to step away. Instead, she signalled for her to pause and instinctively reached for the Para-RAID device behind her head. Unbeknownst to her, Sokka's earpiece was reverse engineered from the same Para-RAID device and thus, was able to listen in on her conversation between Azula and the other Juggernaut.
"What do you think you're doing?! If something happens just make a break for it, I'll cover you!"
"No. Besides, we don't know if there's going to be a fight to begin with. If there's going to be a fight, I'll face it head on, come what may. To back down, is to insult the memories and sacrifices of those who did. That is why I fight, so I can finally catch up to those who went before."
Listening to her, Sokka's brain whirred into action as he realised that the voice sounded very familiar to him.
"I am Captain Azula, the acting commander-in-chief of the Republic Defense Forces. And I will never, ever run from this war!"
At last, the final pieces clicked in his mind and he blurted out "Ma-major?", prompting a shocked "Huh?" from Azula.
"Those whom you speak of, they're long gone. What duty do you have to mere bones and rusted machines?"
"Because they told me to not forget." was her simple answer, triggering a raft of memories that he kept sealed away.
"They warned me about the Legion's assault. They wanted me to fight, to survive so we could meet. That is why, I want to live up to their expectations, to honour their wishes and show them what the end of the war looks like." Pulling out a sketch of a pig dressed in aristocratic uniform and an old faded polaroid from her battle dress, she stared at it for a moment, tears starting to form at the corners of her eyes before turning it around and showing him.
"And also….because he..he told me to not forget him. That he wanted to meet me someday."
One year ago,
Spearhead Squadron Mess Hall
"You think she'll find it?" Zuko asked, seeing him place the polaroid and the drawing in the top drawer of the table.
"Of course. She's a smart cat, she doesn't miss anything."
"Sounds like someone's catching feels."
"Whatever you say buddy."
"....you and I, we're the same. We both fought till the very end, that's why we're here now. You should be proud of yourself, for surviving that long."
At this, the tears that he was holding back all this while burst forth, the pent up emotions over the last year and a half rushing to the forefront, leaving him unable to talk as he opened the hatch of his mech, cursing it for opening as slowly as it did.
As the late afternoon sun flooded his cockpit, he could see the uniform of the major that he left behind all this time when he and the survivors of Spearhead were tasked with the special reconnaissance mission. Unfortunately, just as the hatch was about to reveal their identities to each other, the ear-splitting electronic wail of the autonomous killing machines known as the Legion cried out in Sokka's earpiece, forcing him to shut his hatch as the olive green Juggernaut pulled up beside her.
"Captain, they just reported large movement of Legion outside the walls again!"
Immediately, Azula turned to face the Reginleif opposite her and pleaded " You have to come with us!"
"No."
Before she could respond, the familiar crump of artillery was felt in their bones, before shells burst on the horizon like fireworks, followed by the contrails of rockets screaming over head as helicopters emblazoned with the Giadian coat of arms, a crowned double headed phoenix facing both east and west landed in their vicinity. Once the symbol of expansionist ambitions, now it represented a nation that was looking both east and west to help and make right their wrongs.
"Good job captain. We'll take it from here. Just a heads up, you might want to let the rest of your team know you survived."
"Tha- wait, there were…..survivors?"
"Bruh, that should have been the first question you should have asked." Zuko chided.
"Ty Lee over here was crying her eyes out." Aang smirked. "You were the only one she couldn't contact."
"Was not!" Ty Lee's voice sniffled, her hoarse voice betraying her.
"I did warn you what would happen if you made her cry." Suki's voice warned, her voice promising him anything but a good time, sending a slight shiver down his spine.
"Don't just write us off ya know?" the sergeant major added, as a chorus of men resounded behind him.
"Look, no one's gone ahead of each other. So rest easy."
As the choppers departed, Kiyi took a seat on one of the legs of his mecha.
"You're a dumbass, you know that?"
"So I've heard."
"After all this time, you still want to be a mystery man to her? She was your commanding officer in the Republic y'know?"
"I never told you about her." he snapped.
"You didn't need to, true. I stole a peek into your memories. That is my power, or did you forget?"
"That shock and surprise when she gave her name, who would have ever thought the stone-cold Reaper of the Eastern Front was a big giant softie?" she giggled.
"I'm glad…she caught up to you. She really cares for you and respects you. Don't you want to tell her who you are?"
"I…I can't. Not in this current state. Not when there's still a war going on. What she should see is not the carnage of war, but a world at peace."
"My God, just admit it, you're in l-o-v-e with her. Seriously, what is it with boys and their irrational need to put on a tough guy act?"
Hopping off the mech, she continued "Besides, you've already found your answer for living."
Briefing room
Rüstkammer Base
Walking into the briefing room, he saw his friends snickering at him while Gretel had a large smirk on her face.
"What?" he asked. "Here's the after-action report you wanted."
Keeping the smirk on her face, Gretel simply flipped the tablet around and played an audio recording from his conversation with Azula. Sauntering up to him, she snatched the report from his hands and chuckled while Sokka turned beet red, the tips of his ears feeling red hot.
"So..how did she look?"
"Did you get to see her face?"
"What's she like in person?"
"I didn't get a clear look." Sokka lied.
"Bullshit."
"Hand on my heart, I swear." Sokka insisted. No way in hell am I going to share that with y'all. She's mine.
"Sure you didn't. Just like how you sure aren't a sappy romantic under that cold exterior, hmm?"
"Knock it off, or I'll knock you out."
"Whatever you say big man, whatever you say."
One day, major. One day, you and I will see the end of this war. Together. I promise, Sokka vowed as his squad peppered him with questions.

🏝Ember Island🏝
Zutara Month 2023
Tumblr media
My first time attempting on Modern Zutara AU~ One of my favourite AUs btw🥰🥰🥰
I planned to do Zuko & Katara enjoying each other company at the beach in Ember Island. I actually don't know bow to portray that~ Other than the beach scenery at the back, the only indication that this took place in Ember Island was, that 'Welcome to Ember Island' frame😂😂😂
Can't believe that Zutara Month 2023 finally come to and end🥺 Glad that I managed to get this done by today though~
But, I still have ideas that I planned for some other remaining prompts~ Maybe, even after this year Zutara month ended, I might still submitting my entries😆 Who knows~ I just want to finish what I've started (though Sokkla's month starts tomorrow, & I also want to participate so badly🥲)

Back on September 23, @phantomstatistician made a post on who Azula is shipped with on AO3. After seeing that, I got curious about some things and decided to try to gather some historical data.
First things first. On September 25, 2022, I took a survey of works on AO3 for 22 Azula ships from 01/01/2013 to 09/25/2022.
Data
This chart is for the totals of the sample surveyed. And the other is a table of the chart’s raw numbers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the chart of the total Azula ship fics broken down by year. It included the top 11 ships (tyzula, Sokkla, Azutara, zucest, Azulaang, Maizula, Ozula, Tophzula, Yuezula, Azuki and Jinzula)
Tumblr media
And here’s the table for the both the 11 ships in the chart, as well as one showing all 22 ships in the sample
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then there’s this chart that shows the year to year output of works by ship rather than the cumulative output. It features the same 11 ships as the previous chart.
Tumblr media
And then the raw data tables for this chart
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Observations
Total sample by year
Before 2020, the growth of the sample never exceeded 150 works
2021 and 2020 are the years where the most Azula ship works were added
2022 is on track to be either the third or second most productive years
Cumulative count by year
in terms of total fic count, tyzula has consistently remained the Azula ship with the most works.
zucest was tied with Tophzula for second place in 2013. Then zucest became the sole holder of second place from 2014 to 2017. In 2018, Sokkla took second and has held onto it since then
Sokkla was in fourth place in 2013, then tied with Tophzula for third. Sokkla became the sole holder of third place from 2015 to 2017. In 2018, when Sokkla took second place, zucest took third place. Zucest held onto third place from 2018 to 2021, but as of September 25, 2022, Azutara is the third largest Azula ship on AO3.
Annual output by year
In 2020, a majority of Azula ship works were tyzula (55%). This is something had never happened before or since.
Again, the year isn’t over, but tyzula’s output by percentage for 2022 is the lowest it’s ever been (29%)
Meanwhile Sokkla is also lower than usual (but again, we’ll see how the next three months)
The Azula ships who currently have the second and third highest output of works for 2022 are Azutara and Zucest
Despite not being shown in the chart, Jetzula’s 2022 output ranks higher than Tophzula, Azuki and Jinzula’s, at least as of September 25.
Other observations
Most years, the annual output of F/F Azula works to M/F Azula works is around 60% F/F to 40% M/F
The exceptions are 2015 (72% F/F to 28% M/F), 2017 (52% F/F to 48% M/F) and 2020 (75% F/F and 25% M/F)
Anyway, yeah. Tumblr ate the first version of this post so I hope version 2 works as well. I’m hoping to update this information in 2023 with the final numbers for 2022 in.

Notes for my Sokkla Celebrity AU (Sokka's side)
Here are mores notes for my Sokkla fic, an ATLA Celebrity AU. The story is Azula-centric but I still made notes about Sokka (with mention of others) to flesh out everything Warning: Canon Characters' Deaths still occur
The notes of Azula's side
Without further ado, ATLA Celebrity AU (Sokka-centric)
Hokada & Kya are local musicians but it's like a side hustle for fun Sokka & Katara grow up with music Kya dies from cancer when Sokka is 13 Sokka gets interested in producing really young but gets side-track when Katara gets discovered and becomes the next big thing (think Taylor Swift) at 15 so Sokka starts a rapper career the same year (17) They both sign with Avatar Industries and that's how they meet Aang (since the beginning, Aang has had a crush on Katara which both Water Tribe siblings do not see) That year, Sokka met Yue, an opera singer incredibly famous in her field, and it was love at first sight 3 months later Yue dies in an accident in which he has survivor guilt as he was supposed to be with her (they had wanted to announce they were dating to the world) 6 months later, he meets Suki, a freshly made Olympic winner, at an event and while she shows interest, Sokka is reluctant They start dating and the media gets the news very quickly Sokka doesn't talk to Suki about Yue (Somewhere in between, Toph and Zuko join Avatar Industries) (Toph used to be a classical Opera singer but she quits for heavy metal) By the time Sokka is 20, he's not very happy about his life/career Suki encourages him to go to university, which he does: double major in sound design and engineering, pausing his musical career Become closer to Zuko, they related over anxiety, survivor guilt, etc Suki and him are good, but something feels amiss; so the whole cheating with Azula doesn't help, even if Suki knows it's false Around a year later (21), they break up over mostly distance, Suki moves to follow her trainer Sokka enters his fuckboy period that last a good year, maybe 2 While at uni, Sokka rediscovers his love for producing and starts working with the Gaang+Zuko with their music He starts to win prices as a producer At 24, Zuko asks him to help Azula with her next album

A year or two ago there was a post asking for Sokkla headcanons going around, and so I'm finally making a master post of my own Sokkla Headcanons, divorced from the older post.
Azula pretends to hate the cold but being a prodigious Firebender she can lower and raise her body temperature to compensate. Sokka discovers this their first night in the South Pole as she becomes his personal space heater by accident and she strangely doesn’t mind as it means more cuddles.
This also works with keeping bathwater warm longer. Sokka frequently loses track of time when they bathe together as she keeps the water just as warm as it was in the beginning.
Sokka and Azula both being strategic and tactical geniuses, frequently play Pai Sho together. And are at such a level that Uncle Iroh is often left in awe when he watches them play. Anytime he’s challenged one of them he’s swiftly defeated and despite the loss, he’s ecstatic. Most Pai Sho players utilize a basic strategy(such as The White Lotus Gambit for the OWL members) but Sokka and Azula realize the weakness in that and rarely use the same strategy twice.
After the war, Sokka went back to Piandao and trained for several more months, and then trained with Mai to get better with throwing weapons, and then Ty Lee on how to Chi Block and to become more agile. This leaves him a very dangerous and skilled nonbender and he and Azula spar together several times a week. The Royal Guard and even Zuko watch on in awe.
Azula had never had a reason to use weapons as she was always strong with her bending unlike Zuzu, but since dating Sokka she took an interest in it, and she’s a warrior through and through. Sokka is amazed at how quickly she picks it up.
Azula is incredibly proud of Sokka’s creativity and inventions and often helps give him ideas, oftentimes not even meaning too. She also helps him name his inventions as she finds his naming scheme awful.
This one can be a before they started dating/helped them grow closer, but as they both serve as Zuko’s Chief Advisors, they come up with groundbreaking ideas together and often improve the other's ideas with something the other hadn’t even thought of. This has led to some amazing policy and change in the Fire Nation and has helped immensely with their Foreign relations.
Azula will never openly admit it but she loves food almost as much as Sokka and has introduced him to some of the Fire Nations' most delicious dishes that he hadn’t tried.
Azula is awful at doing her hair herself, so Sokka does it for her and gets her to experiment with other styles(keeping her trademark bangs ofc) and she is surprised about it. When she asks him why he's so good at it he tells her about how after their mother was killed someone had to help Katara with her hair.
This one is more Canon than HC, but I largely disregard the comics. But Azula loves her Mochi. Anytime she's feeling down Sokka gets the Palace kitchen to make her some and he gets her an assortment of Mochi for her birthdays.
One of the things Azula started doing after being released from the Mental Institute is painting. It's a form of therapy and helps her a lot. She was never allowed to have hobbies under Ozai and is finally free to explore herself. When she learns that Sokka also paints she's surprised. When she sees some of his works, including a giant painting that takes up almost a whole wall, of the Moon reflecting off a body of water(the giant wall painting is from @madamezuki Blood & Fire but it's so good I like it as well and just integrated it into my HC's and scenarios). His work leaves her speechless and she's surprised he's so skilled. They spend time in the palace gardens painting together.
Azula and Sokka being the extremely intelligent individuals they both are, love reading. History, arts, sciences. It doesn't matter. They spend a ton of time together in the libraries in either palace or his loft library in his penthouse reading together.

28 sokkla please
We’re back to doing these! I’ll try and get out the ones already in my inbox first.
****
The winter festival is always one of the best days of Sokka’s year. He remembers the Fire festival some months ago and how Azula had dragged him through the crowd to see every attraction and eat every food. Sokka’s plans for the night aren’t spontaneous, Azula learns. She’d woken up to a scroll on her forehead detailing every activity they would engage in.
“Hear terrible news” wasn’t written on there, but terrible news overtakes everything Sokka has planned. He doesn’t really think it’s that terrible. A guard whispers into the stoic Fire Lord’s ear, whose good eye then widens. It’s Azula who had the unfortunate luck of standing in the doorway when Zuko says to the rest of them, “My father has died. Don’t tell Azula.” Zuko’s warning wouldn’t have been effective either way. Whatever village members are standing nearby make the news known, and the chants shouted that night make it obvious that extra celebration is going on. Sokka’s first instinct should have been to find Azula. That’s what he goes to do. But while moving through the crowds he sees his father raise a glass at him, joy in his eyes. He hears Katara’s laugh as Aang jokes about how he’s glad to not have finished the job. Sokka swears there is a thirteen year old boy tasked with protecting his home weaving through the crowd with him. Then he hears her crying. She’d gone all the way out to the abandoned Fire Nation ship. An invisible wall separates them as Sokka stands on the deck, too scared to say the wrong thing but also not willing to lie. The wall comes down when she looks up.
“Is there anything I can do?” he asks. They’re both too smart to find comfort in asking if she was okay.
Hiccuping, she says, “Just hold me, Please.” So he does. He wraps his arms around her and she draws her legs to her torso. He kisses her forehead and says everything nothing. He’s lost a parent before. Condolences only make the person giving them feel good. He’s still obligated to offer them.
“I’m sorry,” he finally whispers into her hair.
She feels five again. Cold, tired, and in her father’s arms while he tells her that he can’t predict the weather. Where he tells her that they will never practice in such conditions again. They both know he’s lying. But she isn’t five anymore. She sits up straight.
“We both know you aren’t,” she says. She’s wrong though. Sokka’s heart belongs to Azula, so it grieves what she grieves.
“I’m sorry you never had a father worth grieving.”
“Yet here I am.”
“Do you still want me to hold you?” She shakes her head.
“Let’s go to the festival.” She takes his hand. The wind whistles behind them as they walk. He knows he’ll have to hold her later that night.

Fic-to-Art #29: Azula's belated birthday present for Sokka
No other poll in my Patreon has ever been as competitive and chaotic as this one was, haha. I seriously didn't know who would win since two prompts were neck to neck until the very last moment. But this one took it home in the end...! And here's our piece for this month, right before the month ends :'D
This always was one of my favorite chapters from Part 1, and that scene never failed to make me feel the feels. I loved remembering the early days of how these two were constantly finding any and every excuse to disregard their positions in society and just act on their feelings... oh, what happy times, no matter if we were constantly on edge because they HAD to give in already ffs XD
The BG was tricky but I hope it worked out alright, though figuring out how to make the texture for the rocky crater was pure torture. But playing with the colors here was really really fun, and I found a great brush for the pattern of Azula's dress, which made my life waaaaaaay easier, haha. Anyway, I really hope you guys liked it! Definitely my better rendition of this scene so far!
If you would like to be part of the creative process behind these pieces, a $1 pledge on Patreon will allow you to join in with prompt suggestion and voting on polls, as well as access to snippets for the next Gladiator chapter 6 days before release!

may i request red (2012) with sokkla? i’m hoping for the lucky ones hehe😊
Hellooo my lovelies I apologize for the delay. Unfortunately the government shutdown directly affects me so I was dealing with that, but I'm back! Lucky ones would be cute but as fate would have it - the shuffle decided on none other than "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" (Taylor's Version) for the prompt game! (Deciding if I wanted to do Sokka or Azula as the narrator was a very hard decision)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"That's it! I've had enough Sokka! I asked you for space and you can't even give me that!" Azula screamed in her boyfriend's face. She still called him that even if it was in the absolute loosest sense of the word.
"Space? Babe, it's been months. How much space do you need? I showed up here because I'm worried about you." "I'm fine. Now get out-" "'Zula-" "Out!"
Sokka knew that she wasn't going to let him get another word in. So, he followed her finger back through the still-open doorway. He sailed for weeks and now he was turning back around, having been in Caldera for less than an hour at this point.
Well, if he was there he thought maybe he should get some advice. So he set off to find Zuko's room. He knew the last few years since being crowned had been busy for Zuko, but he was his closest friend. A friend who would surely flambe him if he found out that Sokka came and left without so much as a hello.
He followed muscle memory deep in to the heart of the palace, and placed a sharp rap upon the familiar door.
"Zhu, I told you to tell my uncle I don't need and 'special tea'-" Zuko opened the door with an exasperated expression on his face. One that instantly melted to a mix of relief, shock, and excitement upon recognizing the darker boys features.
"Sokka!" The Firelord all but threw himself in to Sokka's arms. Sokka was happy to oblige. It had been almost a year since he'd seen Zuko.
"Wha-what are you doing here?" He asked, pulling away but still hanging on to him loosely, as if he couldn't believe he was actually there.
"I had to see Azula. Zuko she's driving me insane! I love her but... Agni I don't know anymore." Zuko dropped his hands then with a knowing smile. He then turned on his heel and beckoned Sokka to follow him back in to his room. They walked through all the way to a small balcony with a small table and tea set for one. Zuko quickly pulled out another cup and gestured for him to sit.
"So what started it this time?" Zuko inquired, picking up his tea nonchalantly. Sokka leaned forward and placed his face in his hands, groaning in frustration.
"She sent me a letter," He reached down and pulled a piece of paper from his pocket, it was worn along the creases and soft on the edges from where Sokka had taken to rubbing it as a nervous habit at sea. He tossed it to Zuko.
The older boy examined the letter before quickly reading it. He crinkled his nose and scoffed. Sokka lifted his head then.
"What is it?" "I miss you and I swear I'm gonna change?" Zuko read the line mockingly in a weirdly accurate impression of his sister. "What's wrong with that?" "Azula never changes. She learns sure, but never changes. She is who she's been for her entire life, and if you're still wallowing under the assumption that she can- I think you should manage your expectations,"
Sokka took a long sip of his tea, unsure of how to respond to his friends emotionless assessment of the situation. Maybe the fire siblings were more alike than he thought.
"What happened then?" Zuko broke the silence. "I radioed her that night, we talked and it seemed like she actually did change. Then the next night I called her again, which I guess is like noon here? She freaked out on me! Told me I was smothering her and had no respect for her schedule blah blah blah-" Sokka got so frustrated explaining the situation that he had to stop.
Zuko gave him a carefully contemplative expression, but gave him room to continue when he was ready.
"She told me she hated me, I said the same. It was a mess. Then the next morning she calls and tells me she loves me for the first time. I got on a ship that afternoon, and here I am."
"Honestly it seems like all you guys do is fight, break up, call it off, rinse and repeat" Zuko said while pouring the both of them another cup of tea.
"Ugh I know!" Sokka basically slammed his forehead down on the table in frustration, and left it there, staring blankly at the blurry wood. "I don't know what to do Zuko. I know long distance is hard but even when we're together it's the same thing. Only instead of hanging up the phone she slams her door and turns up her record player as loud as it will go."
Zuko winced slightly in understanding. That's how Mai was when they were younger, but the two women's motivations were in no way the same so that wasn't a helpful thought.
"Sokka. I'm just gonna level with you." Sokka didn't lift his head. "This thing between you two is never going to work. I know you want to protect and take care and help her, but she's not that type of person. She wants to be able to just call on you when she feels like having a relationship, and that's not the type of person you are."
"Never say never" Sokka grumbled, but didn't entirely disagree. Zuko huffed.
"Sokka, promise me that if you guys get back together that it will be the last time. I can't take seeing both my best friend and my sister miserable. Especially because of each other."
The water tribe man lifted his head finally to look his friend in the eye. "Okay. You've got a point. I'm practical, I know this isn't helping either of us. Maybe if we lived together, but that's not feasible," Zuko nodded in agreement. "Okay," Sokka resolved "This is the last try, if I can't make her see the reality of the situation then I'll end it."
"Good," Zuko settled back into his chair with a small triumphant smile.
~~~
"Azula?" Sokka made his way back to Azula's room later that night. She opened the door right away.
"Sokka," Her smile was timid but surprisingly open. Sokka opened his arms for her to fall in to. She did. "I'm sorry" Azula murmured in to his chest. "I know," He stroked her hair gently, "Let's go sit down. We should talk."
So they did. The odd couple talked late into the night. Sokka was up front and honest with her about everything, he told her about his 'last try' resolution. She agreed, but he couldn't tell if she was also being fully honest with him.
"So, tell me what I can do to make this work. You have to communicate with me," The pair were now eating a late dinner that to some could be considered breakfast.
"You know I have a hard time communicating Sokka," "I know. But if this is going to work then you have to tell me what you need, and I'll tell you what I need. We can move forward from there."
She reluctantly nodded her concession.
"Okay," Azula started. "I'm still working through my mental health, I need space sometimes. Especially if I'm doing a lot of trauma work, I don't always have the energy to talk or write."
"That's fair, but 'Zula you can't do that for months at a time. I need a radio, a letter, something so that I know we're still together and you're okay. I help Katara and the others with theirs, I can help you too if you let me... or at least talk to me,"
A look of rage passed across her face and Sokka knew he had said something wrong, but he wasn't sure what.
"That's the problem!" Azula stood from the table and threw her hands in the air. "I don't need your help Sokka! I don't need you to save me! I can take care of myself!" She was pacing now. Sokka stood too.
"Baby I'm not trying to save you. I'm trying to be there for you- that's what people in a relationship are supposed to do. Be there for each other, support each other."
She said nothing, but her shoulders rose and fell as though she was breathing heavily so as to not flip out. She calmed down after a few moments.
"Maybe I don't know what a normal relationship is supposed to look like," Her eyes were trained on the floor but her words didn't waiver.
"Then let me teach you," Sokka stepped forward and reached for her hand. Her rage returned as her hand became wreathed in flame.
"I don't need you to teach me! I'm not stupid!" "Azula that's not what I-" "I don't want to hear it! You're just like Ty Lee. 'little Azula', 'broken Azula', 'Azula that has to be taught everything about how normal people are supposed to act'. Well what if I don't want to act like that?!" Her volume and fire heightened with every phrase.
"Then you're going to keep hurting the people who love you," Sokka answered honestly. He was always honest with her. This only seemed to enrage her more. The flame guttered and went out, but as quick as she did- she grabbed the steak knife off the table and threw it at him.
He dodged, he knew it wouldn't have hit him even if he hadn't, but it didn't matter at this point. He turned on his heel and strode directly toward the door, not bothering to take his half-eaten dinner with him.
"That's it? You're just going to give up?" She snarled. That made him stop. He didn't fully face her but he turned his head slightly as he spoke, one hand on the doorframe.
"No Azula, I came here because I didn't want to give up, but if you're graduating to physical threats then there's nothing her for me to save," She said nothing in response. So he left.
~~~
The next morning Sokka had said his goodbyes to Zuko after telling him what happened. Zuko had looked mad but not surprised at his sister's actions. He didn't bother asking if Sokka was okay, he knew they had both survived much worse.
So, Sokka was walking up the final gangplank that would take him back to the South Pole. The next time he returned it would be for diplomatic reasons only. The direct heat of Agni was beginning to make breathing normally difficult. One more reason for Sokka to leave as quickly as possible.
He heard the plank being unhooked behind him when- "Wait!" A familiar voice shouted, he spun to see her so fast it almost hurt. She was sprinting up the plank and planted herself directly before him, not quite standing on the deck.
"Sokka. Please don't go." His face hardened into a scowl. "And why shouldn't I?" He crossed his arms "Because I still love you," He weighed her words for a moment, then her expression. There wasn't an ounce of regret in them. Sincerity? Maybe. But unfortunately that wasn't enough.
"Azula, this is exhausting." He told her honestly. "This relationship- if you can even call it that- had drained me emotionally and mentally, I have no more to give you if you aren't going to give in return," His words surprised them both.
"What are you saying?" "I'm saying we are never getting back together...ever. Now get off the plank before you fall."
He was going to pay for that last comment when he told Katara about it. Zuko and her would undoubtedly be frantically corresponding about this whole event long before he reached home. He decided that was none of his business. He knew that at least for now- he had made the right decision.
The plank was brought aboard. The sails dropped. They began to sail away. He went to the edge and looked back at the shore against his better judgement. Azula was still there, getting smaller and smaller.
He thought she might have said something, but he couldn't hear it.
"ever"
Sokkla 16.
this is kinda silly 🤣 and forgive me in advance for typos because I will not proof read it.
"Fuck"
Her sharp voice echoed through the apartment as she stared at the two lines that seems to be mocking her fate. Closing her eyes while she aggressively tapping the device in her hand as if it would erase the lines. Sigh. Her head is aching and she's half wishing right now this is all just a dream.
Opening her eyes, Azula can still clearly see it there. The two lines, which could only mean one thing. POSITIVE. She feels numb, more so worried about how will her 'friend' react to the news. Adding to her stress are the possible rumors the Republic City press will come up once they know. They really do fucked up big time.
It just happened one time and now they have to suffer the consequences. She begrudgingly blame herself for getting too drunk that night. She stand up walking to the nearest trash bin and throw the pregnancy test. A thousand possibilities came to her mind but she knows the best way out here, she will file a resignation to the Council then fly back to Fire Nation.
-------------------------------------------------
It was easier said than done, because by the time she getting ready and packing up after her brother agreed on her request of coming home, the Southern Water trive representative came barging in her apartment unannounced.
"What exactly do you think you're doing here?" she tried to sound spiteful but shock is definitely evident on her features.
"Tell me why are you resigning? Don't give me the 'i will be much needed in the Fire Nation than Republic City' bullshits again cause we already settled the one." Sokka's demanding voice filled the room.
"What if that's the only real reason I could give you?" she challenged him
"But you're much needed here, the City's council needs you….. I need you," he pretty much whispered the last three words but it's loud enough for her heartrate to spiked.
'Stupid hormones' she thought to herself. She don't really know how to react to the information so she just avert her gaze and start packing again.
"Is this about what happened?"
Silence.
"It's about that night right?"
More silence.
"If this is about that promise it's not going to happen again. I'm gonna professional as I can be. I won't bother you anymore, just please stay. I will do any-"
"ENOUGH!" his ramblings were cut by her shout. "It's never about that….. it's something different" she looks down to her hand that she didn't realize she's fidgeting.
"Then, what's your deal?"
"I did a pregnancy test last month, and let's just say I passed it with flying colors" she replied sighing.
"You're… you're pregnant?" she just nodded. Refusing to meet his eyes but what she didn't expect is him running to embrace her.
"I'm gonna be a dad?" Sokka asked more to get himself rather than her. She didn't expect this reaction from him it's confusing.
"How sure are you that you're the father?" she asked trying to test him.
"Well, you're too busy and focus to your paperworks so I don't think you have a time to get laid after that night" he declared too proudly.
"Touché" she wanted to wiped that smug grin to his face. They're still locked up in an embrace. She rested her head on his shoulder. "So, you're not nervous about this? You're not mad at me?"
"What? No! I'm not mad at you, I'm actually more mad at myself" he whispered. She raised her head so she'll see his face. "I love you, Azula. I didn't know why it had taken me a drunken night to admit it to myself and a thought of never seeing you again to admit it out loud"
"You're an idiot," she replied smiling before capturing his lips to hers.
"So does this means you'll stay here?" Sokka ask as they pull away.
"No, this means we're going to a Fire Nation vacation, dumdum" she replied before he claimed her lips once again.
