Passfotoautomaten bestehen tatsächlich zu 90% aus Füllmaterial

Auf einer Hochzeit bin ich im Schnitt etwa einmal in zwei Jahren. Das ist eine ganz gute Frequenz, um die Entwicklung der Hochzeitsfototechnologie teilnehmend zu beobachten. In vergangenen Jahren war es nicht unüblich, unter den Gästen einige Einweg-Fotoapparate zu verteilen, diese damit fotografieren zu lassen und sie wieder einzusammeln, wenn der Film vollgeknipst war. Das Hochzeitspaar ließ die Filme entwickeln und hatte dann – je nach Motivation, Fähigkeiten und Humor seiner Gäste – eine Sammlung mehr oder weniger gelungener Schnappschüsse.

Eine andere Variante bestand darin, die Anwesenden sich mit einer Polaroid-Sofortbildkamera fotografieren zu lassen und die Bilder dann in ein Gästebuch einzukleben. Ein Gästebuch gibt es auch an diesem Wochenende, die Bilder dafür werden aber von einem Gerät auf einem Stativ angefertigt.

Bei genauem Hinsehen entpuppt sich dieses als die Essenz eines Passfotoautomaten. Also nur die Bestandteile, die man wirklich braucht, ohne das ganze Drumherum aus Kabine mit Münzeinwurf, Spiegel, Sitzgelegenheit, Vorhang und einem Gehäuse voller Werbebanner. Vorhanden sind lediglich eine helle Lampe, ein Kasten mit Kamera und Touch-Display, mit dem man den Aufnahmevorgang starten kann, und eine kleineres Kästchen, welche die Fotos druckt.

Zum Vergleich: Passfotoautomat in einem Berliner S-Bahnhof

Auch bei der Redux-Version wird stets eine Serie von vier Bildern hintereinander aufgenommen, in Abständen von mehreren Sekunden, sodass die Motivpersonen Gelegenheit haben, Pose und Gesichtsausdruck zu wechseln.

Das Ergebnis wird auf dem Bildschirm angezeigt und kann bei Nichtgefallen verworfen und bei Gefallen ausgedruckt werden. Dabei rollt das Fotopapier in einer anschaulichen Demonstration des Vierfarbdrucks mehrmals aus der Druckeinheit heraus und wieder hinein, das Bild jedesmal um eine weitere Farbe vervollständigt.
