So, why do you (and any commenters) dislike Kaia? I’ll go first! 😂

I’m in the industry and not only is she maybe the worst actress I’ve seen in a long time (let alone in high profile shows and movies-yikes!) but I honestly don’t think she’s even a good model. She has model good looks- like no matter how much she bugs me I’m not going to be a hater and act like she isn’t beautiful bc she truly is. Occasionally she has some interesting photographs but this new set for Marc Jacob’s Daisy is absolute amateur hour! (Google them if you don’t know bc I don’t know how to send them in anons- she’s in a sparkly black dress, looking happy/ derpy, and doing modeling 101 poses that basic girls who think they’re models do bc it’s cliche and not what actual seasoned working models do.) It’s so cringe and I’m honestly embarrassed for her. I’ve seen her do better, but half the time the poses are “meh” and/or the eyes are totally dead. Her walk is chaotic but many ppl disagree with me there. But like, she’s the worst nepo baby in my mind bc she truly lacks talent, a personality, and an IT factor.

I don’t know her personally and sometimes she seems nice enough, but there’s a coldness to her and she feels kind of try hard (trying to be older than she is, acting like she has lived this life where she’s learned lessons but never actually gets vulnerable and shares things worth sharing, and tries to be intellectual with soft reads when it’s like…girl just go to college?). She’s just… off. Maybe at 30 she’ll be cool (I really try not to hate or root against but again, she bugs me, but I’m trying to use my words versus being emotional) but she’s beyond hard to take seriously at this moment. And I’m sorry but hers and Austin’s body language is weird AF. Her fans are so young so they don’t see any of what I’m ( or what you) talk about.

Anyway, I’m just a frustrated girlie in the industry who can’t get arrested and am fine with nepo babies if they’re talented but Kaia truly isn’t. I don’t think she’d have a career if she couldn’t afford a good publicist so it feels like double cheating to win the race (opportunities plus PR). Then I looked into her more and again, something is just…OFF.

But when and why did you not care for her? I’m curious about how similar or not similar my experience was to other people. It feels like her PR is revving up and she keeps booking roles no matter how many people call Kaia Gerber’s acting “distractingly awful” so I want some solidarity lol. 🙏🏼 When were you like, “oh hell no!” (Or anyone else brave enough to comment or reblog with an answer!) Hi girlie! First off, your message was so good that not only do I agree with what you said but I also feel like i'd be repeating what you said if i were to go into it lol. So for the sake of not being a broken record, i appreciate you coming forward and i double down on what you said.

as for when i started noticing, she really flew under the radar for me for a little while. i became a fan back in July of last year after seeing the movie. and i didn't have a lot to think about the relationship with Austin at that time aside from shes way too young for him. I wasn't researching anything at that point and i was more concerned with learning about Austin, getting to know him and getting absorbed in that content. I think it was sometime around maybe early fall that controversies about the relationship were spreading online. most notably it was the talk of their massive cringe worthy age gap where they got together before she could legally drink AND she was cool with his ex Vanessa in the past, but also as more pap photos came out I just began to notice the obvious signs that Austin was not really "there" or present or happy to be alongside Kaia. so i researched and all of that. then around the filming of bikeriders i had solidified 100% my stance on it with the clear signs of there being rumors of a breakup and the strange PR bullshit surrounding this couple henceforth. and here i am now.

but that's kind of the short answer lol. i'm used to being used as a dartboard for these idiot shippers to throw darts at because im not afraid to be vocal. so i hope that those of us here that feel the same way can have a platform to speak up. because listen, kaia ain't it and that man looks chronically dead when seen with her. so those that don't agree with my (or our, since there are so many of us that think this way) opinion then they can stuff it.

sorry about ppl being weird about the dnd/oc thing I think people are taking it personally because they love their ocs so they don't realise no one is obligated to care or listen to someone speak about something unimportant at length that they never indicated they wanted to hear about

Apparently some people also don't know how to ignore opinions they disagree with without coming to you and being like "oh so you condone cringe culture? You condone bullying? It's my god given right to go up to strangers and start talking about myself and my ocs and if they don't react positively then they hate fun and should not be trusted. Have some basic respect, why do you love bullying???? You're evil. what do you mean "boundaries"????"

here's the thing i really just straight up think people aren't getting the reason why i put ocs/dnd characters specifically on there, instead of just saying 'dont engage people on subjects they're not interested in/don't infodump'. because the thing about ocs and dnd characters specifically is that they are uniquely difficult to respond to. the really key distinction is that someone's oc/dnd character isn't a relatively neutral topic like, say, explaining the history of slide whistles or whatever because i have a slide whistle hyperfocus. people's OCs are their creative projects, and often creative projects that people put a LOT of emotional stock in

it's honestly i think mostly a problem for artists, i don't see a lot of unprompted oc dumping on people that aren't artists, and so i think people who aren't artists or who have never had a large following just don't have a frame of reference for how uncomfortable it is to be Pitched To by someone or don't understand that it's common enough to be worth mentioning. like. the kind of people who try and talk to random internet artists about their ocs are doing this because they want external validation for their creative work and ideas but don't really understand the socially appropriate avenues to go about doing that yet. often times these people are pretty young. they're also extremely likely to be REALLY sensitive.

so basically your choice is

reply with some sort of tepid generic approval/feigned interest, which will almost always result in this type of person believing you have a Rapport now and trying to push further communications with you

ignore them, and hope this isn't the kind of person who will send follow up, or who will get upset at being ignored and assume malicious intent from that. this is probably your safest response

be frank and tell them outright that this isn't something you're interested in discussing. this is probably the worst response, because as you can tell from the discussion being had on this blog, people tend to think it is extremely rude to say this. basically if you outright shoot down someone who is trying to pitch their own creative work that they're both deeply invested in and insecure about, it's not going to go over well.

and when the best possible response to a topic is to ignore it, i think i can safely say that makes it a bad opener. so like it's not just a situation where person A is telling person B about something B is uninterested in. It's a situation where person A is asking for person B to validate the worth of their creative endeavor and B having to essentially decide between sort of 'leading someone on' and shutting them down in a way very likely to upset them.

i know this seems pretty ridiculous to lay it out in these terms when really, it's not super deep, it's just kind of annoying at the end of the day. but like I Have Autism and being put in a situation where I know that if i speak openly/truthfully, almost no matter how politely i do it, someone's feelings are going to get hurt? That's the nightmare scenario. I hate it so much. so yeah this is less about 'dont put people in situations where they need to feign interest on a topic' and more about 'don't put strangers in a position where they need to feign interest to avoid slighting the quality/value of someone's creative work."

just saw your take on the podcast and i agree. feel like even if it is satirical which some people are saying it is, there is a line and that line was crossed.

i’ve seen online that the hosts are jewish and gay so people were saying them two were allowed to make their jokes abt jewish ppl and gay ppl but honestly idk i try and stay off stan twitter because everything is taken out of context i never know what’s a good source.

listened to the whole episode myself and i only laughed once and it happened to be at matty getting caught jacking off because god that is just awkward. after that, there wasn’t anything funny in the actual episode and even if we’re all “a bunch of snowflake twitter stans” as we’re being called online like i’d rather that than be a bigot tbh.

are you staying away from the situation or are you actively debating it? i tried to share my thoughts on twitter but was told i do not understand satirical comedy or what centre-left politics are (even though i’m one of the most political and educated people you’ll meet) by some man so i left twitter for today.

not sure what to do because i am a massive fan of their music and hold it extremely close to me, it’s also my special interest as an autistic person and hard to give up easily- any advice? :)

about the hosts being gay and jewish i have no clue but im literally a gay man and some of the comments he made about gay men i personally wasn’t offended? i just dont wanna be offended by such immature jokes. however everyones feelings are valid because some of the other jokes were pretty vile. im definitely not taking away from how women and other poc mentioned must feel right now. Its not great. i see u all and how horrible u must feel. im really sorry.

i agree about the twitter thing, stay outta there!! alot of information and statments wont be true or they’ll be twisted and also twitters just stressful as a whole, i saw incels attacking the 1975twt and alot ppl had to go private.

the podcast REALLY WASNT FUNNY, truly i don’t get the humour in it at alllll. i literally felt pure embarrassment and just cringed multiple times really did feel like a teenage boy conversation.

OH MY GOD! i get u about the special interest thing, it’s literally why i made this blog. i’d say dont bother debating especially on twitter. no matter what you’ll say someone will have an offhand comment to say and its not worth it. whatever you think is right stick by that. but if u do debate please be mindful of everyone and how they feel.

i know im definitely not abandoning this blog or my interest im just gonna stay vigilant of what part of the band i am supporting, i support the music and the art they make and even some points matt’s made in the past have been really good!!. i just don’t support certain things mattys said or done before and now. i’ve been a fan for a long while so theres alot i’ve stuck through in terms of matty being stupid. getting flashbacks to 2021

writing prompts for beautiful ppl

all credit to the amazing @sixxstarrr on tiktok, i just wanna share these ideas, mainly cuz i know ill end up forgetting them and never do them unless i see them somewhere i keep coming back to, but also bc i think the world would be somewhat of a better place if ppl truly asked themeselves questions like this, but maybe I'm wrong and these questions mean nothing in the grand scheme of life, oh well. this is my account so ill post what i please, thank you :)

a piece on why you are best, and a comparative piece on why you are the worst. this ones interesting to me bc of course we all have an ego, and we all generally can see ourselves from an outsiders perspective, so allowing your mind to run with each prompt in either end of the spectrum is such a cool idea. maybe ill write one of these and post it for all to see, maybe i won't.

letters to your future children/people you don't know anymore. this one is kinda simple, and can be taken and used to fit so many other scenarios if you so choose, instead of old friend replace it with "dead dad", and bam! whole new prompt.

analyzing songs you like verse for verse. totally optional, you could just do the song as a whole, or do individual lines that mean something to you and explain to the best of your ability what those words mean, it doesn't matter. the idea itself i think, is so cool and is such a good way to encapsulate your memories and feelings.

who are you and what do you want? the famous question that could go on forever if you're open enough to answer.

do you believe in god or anything at all? if so why or why not? easily another question that could go on for literal days, so just be creative. remember, cringe isn't real!!!! totally made up in our little brains so just be and whoeverrrrr and do whatever you want man, nobody's gonna remember u anyways

some ppl need to make their minds up about "cringe" and the whole culture around it. one week people are like "enjoy your interests, who cares about what other people think, life is too short to worry!" and the next they're like "god why did i get into xyz when i was 12 it's so embarrassing and anyone who likes it is bad" (unless the media is terrible and the creator is irredeemable...) and some are probably making fun of people who are enjoying their interests

i was into that anime with the countries when i was 12/13. i enjoyed it with friends at the time and had a blast. i'm obviously not into it anymore and the only thing i still really Consume is the music that came from it (and even then i rarely listen to said-music). what matters is that i enjoyed my time with my friends and myself at the time and had a blast. and i don't regret it. sure it might be a little embarrassing how obsessed i was, but oh well.

last year i also watched bbc sherlock with my dad and we both enjoyed it. i might have been a little obsessed while watching it (happens with almost every show i watch tbh) and what matters is that im enjoying my time, even if it is a bit embarrassing? but it shouldn't even be embarrassing. enjoying your media unapologetically should be considered a good thing. you should be able to have fun with it without also saying 'it's a bit embarrassing'. that's my hot take of the week.

ps. cringe isn't even in my vocabulary. you'll rarely ever catch me saying it. if i DO say it, it means it's pretty bad lol. but i hate this word and how the internet has added a new meaning to it and i refuse to use it at least 98% of the time.

this has been kind of difficult cos for all the joy this content brings me, the discourse half of things is legitimately taking a mental toll. like. typically i'm decent at compartmentalising when necessary and ignoring bad faith antis, but... this has been a lot. i try to stay away from it and not let it get to me, but it's still exhausting. not sure the best way to maximise my enjoyment while keeping the other shit at bay cos frankly it's not like i'm just gonna drop the fandom bc of these people. still... at least tumblr is mostly better. i need to find ways of reducing my twt usage and/or keeping the negativity out of my line of sight

moving from one place to another has always been easy, but perhaps it's about time you stay.

Being a descendant of Persephone is an experience itself. You have no idea how it happened, but that’s always the case with demigod children, so you don’t really care to understand either. What matters is you’re happy living with your dad in a small apartment downtown big enough just for the two of you.

You’ve just recently moved to Seoul with him; it’s probably only been three months at most and you’re still getting used to the new environment around you. You’re not exactly nomads, but you and him enjoy moving around from one place to another, learning about cultures around the world.

You spent your childhood mostly in Europe, or at least that’s what your dad said because you’re not old enough to remember details. But the first country that your consciousness manages to register is Japan because you lived there until you finished elementary school--the longest you’ve stayed in one country. But even then, you moved from one city to another at least three times throughout the years.

And then you spent junior high school in Singapore before eventually moving to the US once you’re sixteen. Before you came to South Korea, you spent a good four years in Australia for university.

And here you are now, only two months after graduating, already settled in yet another country.

“Are you going to go up again?” your dad asks as he sees you putting on your shoes.

“Yup, gotta take care of my children,” you grin at him.

He rolls his eyes at this, shaking his head in amusement. “As if you can’t grow them back right away if they withered.”

“You’re just jealous I have the power to do that,” you stick out your tongue at him. “And it’s different with planting them from seeds, you know!”

The sound of his laughter is cut off once you shut the door behind you, giddy steps making their way to the elevator almost immediately. One of the main reasons you’ve both chosen this particular complex is because they have a community garden on the rooftop; you’ve fallen in love with the sight of it in an instant the moment they show you the tidy garden that you’ll be free to access because, as far as the management knows, only so few cares about the community garden.

You cringe at the sun the moment you step into the rooftop, the brightness of it blinding your eyes. At least it’s not that hot considering how blinding it is.

“Oh, you poor thing,” you frown when you see a dying flower on one of the pots. You’ve noticed this particular flower since you began tending the garden; a peculiar purple flower that you’ve never seen before. But you quickly dispel any interest towards it because it obviously belongs to someone.

Its pot is beautifully decorated with paints and there’s a big X.M.H. written across the body. You didn’t touch it because you thought the owner must be taking care of it; much like how you don’t dare to tend the few other plants that have names written on the pot.

But this flower is obviously dying and you’ve always been bad at holding yourself back when you see plants about to wither. You wonder if it’s a trait that you inherit from Persephone along with your ability to grow flowers wherever you want. It’s a pretty useless power, if you think about it, and you didn’t even know Persephone has this ability to pass on (because isn’t it supposed to be Demeter’s specialty? Anyway, you’re still related to her one way or another and you’d rather just accept this unique ability than question it). Still, you’re happy with this power even though it doesn’t really help you in your daily lives.

You look around to make sure no one else is on the rooftop before you return to that particular flower; even though you’ve never seen this kind of flower before, you know for sure it hasn’t even bloomed to its best shape yet. Contemplating on what to do, you eventually decide to just go fuck it and resurrect the flower while there’s no one present.

Gently holding the pot with your palms, you focus on it until a soft green light emits around the flower; its stem slowly stands back in place and the vibrant color returns like it wasn’t pitifully dying on its own pot before. You don’t even notice it looks more alive than when you first saw it the day you moved into this place.

You exhale a deep breath after you’re done, the green light long gone after the process is done.

Nothing bad should come out of it… right?

Due to a training workshop you have to attend for your new job, you’ve asked your dad to tend your flowers while you go to Incheon for three days. You would’ve gone back and forth instead of sleeping over in a guest house if you could, but Incheon is way too far and training literally starts at seven thirty for each day.

Why couldn't Persephone just give you the gift of teleportation, really? But, then again, even Hermes’ children don’t have that kind of ability so you can’t really blame her for not blessing you with that.

Anyhow, now that you’re back in Seoul, the first thing you do after washing up is to go up the rooftop to see your children. You honestly doubt your dad actually does as you ask, and you simply hope you don’t have to use your power on them just in the worst case scenario that they all somehow die in the span of three days.

When you open the door, you find someone else busily moving through the garden instead of chilling on the benches for once. You blink at the sight of the lean, tall man, but quickly shrug to yourself and make your way to do your usual round.

You’re just minding your own business as you fill in your water spray on the sink nearby when someone carefully taps your shoulder. You’re not sure why you’re not surprised it’s the same man from earlier.

“Yes?” you smile politely at him.

“Hi,” he greets you with a hesitant smile. “Have you… been tending the garden these days?”

“Oh, right!” you exclaim before you put down the water spray and introduce yourself to him. “I’ve just moved in recently and, yes, I’ve been tending the garden since. I don’t touch plantings that have names on them though!”

The guy nods as he lets out a small ‘ah’ and then takes your hand to shake. “I’m Xu Minghao. You can call me Minghao though. I… usually tend them too, so it’s a surprise to see them so tidy after I’m away.”

You blink at the name. Oh. Xu Minghao. He’s the owner of that flower, isn’t he?

“Um, can I ask you something?” he asks again, his tall posture suddenly making you nervous from your awareness.

“Yeah, sure,” you fake a smile as you turn back to fill your water spray.

“Do you know that purple flower with my initials on the pot?” he shoots straight to it, and you’re glad your back is turned to him because else, he’d see how you close your eyes in contempt.

You hum as you pretend to think about the flower he’s referring to. But Minghao is not easily swayed and he tells you to follow him to see the flower yourself.

Your eyes widen in horror as you see the flower buds opening widely, a shape that you’re sure shouldn’t take place just yet because it hasn’t even been a week since you resurrect it. Did you accidentally grow it more than you should? This is why you should practice, really.

“Has… this been looking like this?” he brings you back to reality, his face confused and somewhat concerned. “I’ve just gone back from my hometown so I haven’t been here for three months and… I don’t think it… should be growing this fast? The buds were only half open when I left.”

“I’m… not sure,” you lie lamely, praying this Minghao guy would brush it off as you being awkward in front of a stranger. “Did you ask anyone to tend it for you? Maybe they give your flower a different fertilizer?”

Minghao shakes his head firmly, arms crossing in front of his chest. “No. I was actually wondering if this particular plant can withhold for months without any fertilizer. I did ask someone to water just once every three days and I told them not to give any kind of fertilizer.”

Oh shit, shit, shit. The one time you decide to mess around helping flowers, it just has to be in this kind of scenario with someone so observant.

“So, uhh, were you expecting it to die or…?” you ask again as you try to act like this has nothing to do with you.

“Wasn’t expecting anything in particular, really,” he sighs, observing you while wondering about the reason behind your fidgeting. Are you just nervous because you don’t know him? Or are you hiding something? “I was just experimenting. My friend tried to grow this flower by crossbreeding two different plants, he’s pretty much done with it so I asked if I can take it with me.”

You nod at the surge of information, unsure why he’s loading this to you. “Have you… always been interested in flowers?”

“I do have a flower shop, if that’s what you’re asking,” he chuckles at your amazed expression. “You should drop by sometimes. You look like you’d appreciate my flowers.”

“Sure,” you happily accept the invitation, lowkey excited to find someone who shares this interest towards plants despite your nervousness from earlier. “Not easy to find someone else that cares about plants other than myself.”

Minghao chuckles again as he agrees with you, and then gives you his business card so you can visit him sometime.

“Maybe my friend did something during the crossbreeding process,” he continues, still looking at the flower curiously.

“You should go ask your friend,” you reply a little too quickly, making Minghao turn to you as his eyes observe you with something that you can’t quite decipher. You’re not sure if the sudden rush in your heartbeat is because you’re scared he’ll somehow figure out what you’re hiding, or you’re simply nervous because his gaze seems to be fixated on you.

Xu Minghao is pretty pleasing to the eyes, if you may say it yourself, and pretty people always intimidate you. Not that you mind him though.

“Yeah, I should,” he quietly replies, wondering if he’s simply imagined the edge on your voice.

The next time you see Minghao, it’s only been a few days since then and it’s a complete accident even though it’s you who step into his shop yourself.

“Oh?” you blink at the familiar person behind the station. “Hi?”

Minghao looks up from the flower arrangement in his hands, not hearing the door opens and closes because he’s too focused on the task. “Hi?”

“Didn’t know this was your shop,” you smile a little as your eyes wander around the flower shop. It’s a pretty humble place, though it’s quite big for a shop run by (presumably) Minghao himself. You don’t see any other person in sight, but there are two closed doors you can see from where you’re at and who knows if there are other people there.

“Threw away my business card, did you?” he smiles playfully, walking around his table to walk closer to you.

“Nah, just have a very bad navigation skill,” you grin, telling him you’d have no idea where his store is even if you turn on your GPS. “And it’s only been a few days, wouldn’t it be weird if I immediately come here?”

“Why would it be weird?” he frowns a little, though his smile doesn’t falter. “I did invite you here.”

You simply shrug at that, telling him it just would feel so as your feet take you to explore.

Minghao lets the silence linger after that, observing the way you fit so well between the shelves of his flowers. He’s probably imagining it, but it almost feels like the flowers are closing in everytime you pass by, welcoming you like you’re one of their own.

It’s beautiful. And it’s weird--because as much as he loves his flower shop, he never thinks he’d see a scene so beautiful in this sense. He’s an artistic person and it’s both too often and rare that he deems something beautiful. He has a particular standard that he himself isn’t even sure of. But this? The sight of you walking around his flower shop, fingertips gently touching the soft buds of his flowers while you smile and curiously look at each and every one of them?

He can’t be more certain that it’s beautiful.

“When did you open this shop?” your voice jumps him back to reality, though he’s glad that you don’t seem like you notice he’s been staring at you.

“Just last year,” he nods to himself, the happiness of finally opening his own flower shop still clear in his mind.

“Do you manage this by yourself?” you ask again, more interested than you thought you were.

The guy hums at this, his gaze automatically follows you when you step to the buds section. “I have two part-timers. Don’t really need a full time helper just yet.”

He thinks he hears you say something about how lucky he is, but he doesn’t get any chance to reply yet when you ask him about the ‘baby flowers’--your words not his--section.

Minghao steps closer to you, telling you it’s there for him to grow if no one buys them.

“Mostly, people come here to buy bouquets. But I thought there’d be no loss in putting them there just in case there are people who want to grow their own flowers,” he smiles, more to himself than to you.

You can’t help the warm feeling that envelopes you; you’ve always had a soft spot for people who appreciate flowers. Maybe it’s the few things Persephone gifts you, maybe it comes with your power--anyhow, someone who seems to love them as much as you do is hard to come by, and Minghao is easily the first person who shares the amount of love you have for these little beings.

“What flowers are these?” you lean down to look at closed buds.

“It’s a surprise,” he shrugs. “Even I don’t remember which seeds I put inside the soils even though we should have an idea by the time it grows a little more. I want these people to appreciate flowers as they are, you know?”

“That’s weirdly philosophic,” you chuckle a little, taking one of the pots in your hands. Minghao laughs at that, turning back to his table because his phone is ringing.

Your eyes widen in shock as the light starts to emit around the buds, so you quickly put it back down where it belongs before you shove your palms to the pocket of your jeans. Thankfully, whoever’s at the phone is holding Minghao back just enough until the light fades away before he’s back on your side.

If he notices your sudden tense posture, he doesn’t say anything. But, by the way he’s frowning and the slight ‘hm?’, you’re sure he notices something different in one of the buds in front of him, so you quickly say you just remembered you have somewhere to be and it’s been a pleasure coming here.

“I’ll drop by again some time. See you around!” You hurriedly say with a smile and a wave of your hand. Minghao doesn’t even get the chance to wave back because you’re already out of the door.

He drops his hand back to his side, looking at the curious bud that’s weirdly more grown than the others. He’s pretty sure he puts them all at the same time, so how come it’s the only one with its buds half open?

It’s been some time since you get close to someone as easily as you do with Minghao. You’re pretty sure that your shared interest in plants makes up 70% of your conversation, but it’s still enough for you to consider Minghao a good friend now, and you usually either talk to him on the rooftop, or in his flower shop as you drop by after work.

Plus, he’s pretty easy in the eyes and seeing him after a long day at work definitely helps.

Today’s quite tiring though, because your meeting drags on to the point where you miss your usual bus and you have to wait for half an hour until the next one comes again.

You figure you should just go home and rest, because tomorrow you have to get to the office early and you can’t afford another sleepless night when you’re this burnt. But still, when you pass by Minghao’s shop only to see lights still on, you can’t help but knock and come in.

It’s almost six thirty now, doesn’t he usually close by five?

“Why are you still here?” you ask as you step into the store, greeting Chan and Chaeyoung, his part-timers, who are still struggling with the flowers on the floor. “It’s already dark outside.”

“Wedding later at 9,” he simply replies with a sigh. “We’ve just started an hour ago and we could’ve finished this by seven but... there’s a problem and we’re… still trying to figure it out.”

“What problems?”

“The bride wants white and pink roses only, everything rationed 1:1. But, turns out, some of our white roses aren’t as white as she wants and she insists that we somehow have to make it works and… well, we even tried ordering white roses from another vendor but some of them still aren’t as white when compared to the one she...approved of,” he rubs his temple, obviously frustrated.

You bite down your lip as you see them and the pile of flowers surrounding them. They would probably need to work for an hour or two more at this point, and it’s all just because of this one annoying client.

This is a problem that you can easily fix, you think as you contemplate on what to do. How can you convince these guys that you have a way to help them without them being suspicious?

“Have you guys eaten?” you ask instead. At Chan’s groan, you immediately tell them they should take a small break and rest while they’re at it.

“We can’t,” Chaeyoung sighs tiredly. “I’d be too anxious to take a break too. We have to send this before eight.”

“All because we’re missing 17 white roses,” Chan adds, cracking his neck from side to side.

“I can help,” you finally say, feeling bad at how tired they all sound. Minghao and the others turn to you, and you gulp hardly before you tell them you have a friend who would probably be able to help, but that you need to borrow one of the roses just to make sure the color won’t be wrong too.

Chan asks if your friend is far, because it’ll be no use if it’ll take long for the flower to arrive. What more lies can you sprout in this case, really?

“Just… trust me?” you try to negotiate. Chan and Chaeyoung seem too tired to argue anyway, but Minghao’s curious eyes piercing through yours isn’t something that you know how to handle. Still, despite the way your ears are getting red from his gaze, you do your best to hold his gaze. For once you can actually use your power to help someone in need and you can’t even do it openly.

Talk about useful.

“Okay,” Minghao finally says. “Should I come with you?”

“No!” you answer too quickly. “You should continue and take a little break. I promise I’ll come back with your roses.”

Minghao doesn’t seem like he wants to agree, but he nods anyway and simply tells you to be careful on your way before he thanks you in advance. He’s a little doubtful, truly unsure how you can help with this. But you look so certain, and he knows you enough to know that you’re not the type to say things without meaning to.

And true to your words, not fifteen minutes later, you’ve come back with the exact white shade of roses that he needs. Chan hugs you in relief and Chaeyoug actually peppers you with kisses because you’ve apparently saved them from hell. You simply chuckle at that, though your eyes avoid his when he steps closer to thank you again.

“Eh, consider it your lucky day,” you scrunch your nose at him, telling him your friend has a bunch of them in his place. He wonders if he’s imagining the edge on your voice when he asks if your friend’s nearby because he doesn’t recall any other flower shop that would allow you to be back in less than fifteen minutes.

“Oh, umm… It’s not a flower shop,” you fidget from one foot to another. “He just grows them in his garden.”

“And he just lets you… take them?”

“I owe him a big favour of course. But it’s okay,” you laugh awkwardly. “He’s a very good friend and he understands.”

Minghao hums at this, a sound that makes you more nervous, if anything. He takes one of the flowers in his hand, observing them carefully as he wonders why these flowers feel different than any flower he’s seen. It does feel familiar though he can’t really tell either. Perhaps he’s just imagining things.

Simply said, it just doesn’t make sense to Minghao; none of these are. Anyone who might have grown this many roses wouldn’t give them so willingly unless the person is just that close to you, or they don’t grow them themselves and have no attachment whatsoever with the flowers.

Still, he’s in a hurry and he doesn’t have the time to ponder this just yet. So he simply squeezes your shoulder and thanks you once more then goes back to work. With your flowers, he should be able to finish this in 30 minutes or so and he’s going to do just that.

Almost exactly 30 minutes later, the guys actually finish the order on time. Chan and Chaeyoung quickly hop into the van with the flowers to go to the venue, giddy about the prospect of finishing this one hell of a job (though it’s only prompted by the client, to be honest). At least they just need to deliver this, it’s the wedding organizer’s job to place them accordingly.

So Minghao tells Chan to just bring the van home if he wants to, that he’ll close up for the day and the younger guy can just bring it back tomorrow. Chan happily agrees with the arrangement, then waves goodbye at you both before he takes off with Chaeyoung.

“I’ll help you close up,” you offer, not even waiting for his answer. Funny though, weren’t you tired from work? And now here you are, offering yourself for more work.

“It’s fine,” Minghao says once he catches up with you, gently circling his fingers around your wrist to stop you from cleaning up the table. “You must be tired from work and you’ve helped enough. If you want to help, just sit down and order food for me? Unless you’re going back home to eat with your dad.”

“Dad is out with his friends,” you tell him as you take out your phone. “I’d rather eat with you than by myself back home.”

The guy chuckles at this, the soft sound that you’re already used to and one that always manages to lift the corner of your lips. You don’t think anyone has ever had this effect on you before. But it’s Xu Minghao and you’ve learned that this guy is special in any possible way.

“What do you feel like eating?” you ask as you scroll through the delivery app. After contemplating for ten minutes, you eventually decide to just order from this Chinese takeout that Minghao often eats at.

“It’s pretty authentic,” he comments, telling you he orders from them every time he misses his hometown.

You nod as you listen to him talk about his hometown, how he moves to South Korea and why. So you tell him too about your story; the time you spend moving here and there, how it’s fun and it makes you all the more appreciative to the culture around you, but still a little lonely because you keep on changing friends and surroundings.

You can tell that Minghao is curious about your mom though he doesn’t say anything about it, but you can only hope that he has enough sense not to mention her--at least not now. You usually just say your mom has left a long time ago, which isn’t that far from reality if you think about it, but there’s something about Minghao that makes you feel like you don’t want to lie to him. Maybe it’s his scrutinizing eyes, maybe you’re just into him more than you think you are, but whatever it is, there’s this urge to always be honest with Minghao no matter what.

You throw your weight back to the wheeled chair on the back of the cashier, swaying yourself from side to side as Minghao tells you to wait here because he needs to do something in the back.

Now that everything’s practically done and you finally have the time to stop and unwind, you can feel the exhaustion settling inside your body. It has been a long day after all, but the thought of using your power to help someone--Minghao, on top of that--got you a little too giddy that you forgot about how tired you were even for a while. Plus, it’s been some time since you grow this many flowers at once that you’re exerting more energy than you usually would.

Oh well. You’re just happy you’re finally able to help someone with your power.

You glance at the potted plant next to the cashier machine, probably there for aesthetic reasons. It’s just a small, potted white orchid with pink accents adorning the flowers. You’re just about to reach out for it, your fingertips barely even touching it, when it’s suddenly surrounded by a soft pink glow.

You quickly sit up in panic, praying to everything out there that Minghao wouldn’t return now and--

“Hey, has the food arr--was the flower...glowing?” he blinks mid sentence, wondering if he sees wrong. He’s pretty sure he saw pink-ish light surrounding his orchid for a split second before it’s gone just like that. Is he more tired than he thinks he is?

Minghao isn’t sure what to make of your panicked look, but he’s even more confused with the way you look like you’ve been caught doing something you shouldn’t.

Fortunately for you, someone knocks on the glass door, announcing that the food you’ve ordered is here. Before you can offer, Minghao already goes to take the food, leaving you there to take a deep breath.

You’re so screwed, what do you even tell him?! Maybe you should try to convince him he’s seeing things even though the chance is pretty low. Xu Minghao is one of the most observant people you’ve ever seen in your life after all.

“Do you want to eat here or?” He asks, snapping you out of your thoughts.

“I don’t mind anywhere,” you shrug. So Minghao quietly drags another chair and sits across you, waiting for you to finish taking the containers out of the plastic bag.

He wonders if he should bring up the pink light from earlier, but the grumbling of his stomach tells him he should eat first and do it later.

“Oh!” You exclaim after your first bite, turning to Minghao. “This is very good? I don’t even usually like vegetables?”

Minghao laughs at your expression, something fond growing inside his chest as you keep on humming appreciatively everytime you take a bite. So far, a relationship has never been his priority, and it’s still not--but there are times when he’s started to wonder how it’ll be like to be involved romantically with you.

He’s lying if he says he considers you nothing but a friend; he doesn’t think about his friends like he does you, doesn’t smile at the thought of his friends right before he goes to bed, and he definitely doesn’t silently wish his friend would appear behind the closed rooftop door of his apartment when the day has been long and he wishes to unwind.

“What?” your voice brings him back to reality, and he calmly raises his eyebrow as if he hasn’t been boring holes into you.

“Nothing,” he says nonchalantly. “Just been some time since I eat dinner with someone else.”

“You don’t go out with your friends for dinner?” you ask, genuinely curious.

He nods, telling you his close friend works at the bar so it’s hard to find time to eat dinner together unless he goes there himself.

“You can join me and Dad some time,” you offer. “Dad always cooks so much so we end up eating the same thing for dinner and breakfast. Or maybe we can go try this restaurant in Hongdae next time, my coworker says it’s really pretty and it has an art studio at the back.”

Minghao holds back the urge to ask if you’re asking him on a date and settles for a smile and a nod, still not sure if you return the sentiments he's holding for you. As far as he knows, you just might be this warm and friendly to everyone you’re comfortable with. He cringes at how the thought stings a bit.

“This orchid is really pretty you know,” you say again, looking at the potted flower as if it didn’t freak you out just earlier. “How did you grow it this well? Aren’t orchids hard to take care of?”

He frowns and follows your line of sight, and then leans forward to take a careful look at the flower in surprise.

Minghao looks at it with a puzzled face, blinking continuously before he reaches forward to gently touch the flower buds. He doesn’t even answer when you ask if he’s okay, simply draws back his finger in surprise once it touches the orchid in question.

“Hao…?”

“Can you… touch it? And tell me how it feels?”

You comply, albeit confused at the request. “Okay…? It’s soft…?”

“It’s not stiff?”

“No…? Are they supposed to be stiff?”

His voice, purely laced with confusion, calls out your name, looking at you with a mix of bewilderment and pleasant surprise. “They’re supposed to be plastic.”

At the revelation, you stare at him in horror. That’s why it glowed pink. You had never encountered pink lights before; you know green appears when you resurrect or help plants grow, blue is for guarding fruits from insects, and yellow is to make sure the soil and the roots stay hydrated even if no one waters it. You don’t really like using your power unless you really need to, because there’s a different kind of satisfaction when you manage to grow them on your own without the help of, in a way, Persephone.

But pink? Even you thought you saw wrong.

In shock, you reach forward to touch the flower once more, only to have it glow green and rise a few centimeters from its original place.

You share a shocked look with Minghao, though he can tell there’s more than shock behind your eyes.

“I… um--I…” you stutter, feeling the need to defend yourself before Minghao gets the wrong idea.

No one but your dad knows about your power, not even Chaerin who you consider your closest friend. Once, you accidentally grew flowers in the playground in front of the other kids; you were only five and your power had only started to show. You can still remember the look of terror in their eyes, one of them cried so loud that their parents came to see what happened. They were unsure why the kid would cry when all she mentioned was you and flowers. Still, they figured you must’ve done something to the kid if she wouldn’t stop crying. You stopped coming to the playground shortly after that.

And then another case happened somewhere during junior high school. You had just gotten close to this girl and she told you about how much she wanted to see cherry blossom but couldn’t afford to go to Japan just to see them. So you thought you might as well make it happen, but when you gave her a cherry blossom bonsai that you made yourself, she told you you’re a fraud and there’s no way this could grow in a tropical country.

You figure your dad was right when he said not everyone would understand about your power even though flowers are harmless. Humans have the tendency to refuse to understand things that don’t make sense like your power.

Minghao looks around in surprise as he sees all of his flowers rowdily glowing different shades of lights. He doesn’t know for sure what on earth is happening, but if the fear in your eyes and some other things that have happened in your presence tell him anything, his flowers are probably resonating with the sudden wave of your emotion. You don’t seem to notice this though, fearful eyes only focused on him.

“Hey, it’s fine,” he says despite the loud ringing of his heartbeat. He slowly reaches for your hands, telling you to inhale and exhale at his cue to help you calm down. This seems to help, as the flowers have stopped glowing and the slight tremor in your hands has calmed too. “It’s fine, okay?”

You nod at this, hardly gulping as you ready yourself for what’s to come.

Minghao seems to notice this though, and then slowly stands up to kneel next to you, his long legs allowing him to still look at you comfortably.

“I promise you don’t need to be afraid,” he gently says as he takes your hands back in his, his soft tone soothing your heartbeat. “You don’t need to explain anything to me, but I’ll listen to anything you want to say, okay?”

You nod again before you squeeze his hands for comfort. You take a few more minutes to completely calm down, the warmth radiating from Minghao’s palms helping you in ways you don’t think possible. There’s a soft, patient smile on his face when you finally look back at him and tell him to take the seat next to you before you start explaining. So he does exactly that and doesn’t miss a second to hold your hands yet again once he’s settled next to you.

In a world this big, Minghao has always thought anything is possible. He doesn’t want to say he doesn’t believe in this and that, because who does he think he is to judge the existence of one thing and the other?

Still, it’s a lot to take in that a descendant of Persephone is in front of his very eyes. You even make a little daffodil appear out of nowhere on your palm, as if to prove you’re not messing around. He knows you’re not though, not because of your little showcase, but because the pure fear in your eyes can’t lie.

“It’s… freaky, right?” you laugh bitterly, looking down on the daffodil on your palm.

“I think you mean to say beautiful,” he says after a beat, not wanting to say the wrong thing. “You’re lucky to have the power to help these creatures grow, you know? They’re not like us humans, or even animals, that can defend themselves when it comes to it. You must be really special to be able to help them grow and protect them with your power.”

You look up in surprise at his words, and Minghao can’t help but smile wider in hope it’ll bring you comfort and convince you that he’s not just saying things.

“You know how much I love them, right? And I want you to know how envious I am of your gift,” he continues good-naturedly, telling you how he wishes he could’ve helped these plants like you can. “Like the way you helped my withered flower grow back, remember? You did that, didn’t you? I should thank you, really, you help me see what’s possibly the most beautiful flower I’ve ever seen in my life. My friend said he didn’t even know that flower could grow into that shape.”

“You’re not… afraid of me?” your small voice rings through the empty shop and his heart stings at how afraid you still sound even though he has never let go of your hands once.

“Why would I be?” he reassures you. “I just told you I’m envious of you, silly.”

You bite your lip at his words, unsure how to take this reaction. After hiding this for so long, you had never thought there would be anyone who understands--who will be holding your hands after seeing what happened earlier. But you’re not exactly surprised that Minghao will be the person to do this. If there’s anyone who would be willing to try to understand the unthinkable, it’s Xu Minghao. He doesn’t judge. He just listens and he accepts.

You squeeze his hands in gratitude, unable to say the words out loud at how overwhelming the whole thing is for you. Minghao seems to get it, though, as he always does. And when he takes one of your hands to drop a soft kiss on your knuckle, you know for sure that’s his way of telling you this is just the beginning of everything and more.

Do you have any advice for ppl who’ve been in a reading slump since... 5 ever ? i love reading somehow it’s just harder to get into it these days :(

Omg for sure!! Here is a scrambled little list, I hope at least some of it helps:

📖 read in any format (ebook, physical book, audiobook) bc they’re all valid and make reading more accessible for people which is I think part of why ppl get hoity toity abt it. Ignore them. Also, I assume that if you wanna read, at least a large chunk of why is because you wanna have fun and consume stories yes? 😳 you can do that w/ any form of book, and any other reasons you might have to want to read, like expanding vocab or broadening ur horizons or learning to analyze books should be secondary. Focus on making it a fun and near-effortless/painless thing again and then u can graduate to those (I think that’ll come naturally tbh as long as you read semi-consistently) Fun comes First and I say that as a terrible English major 😗

📖 And with that in mind, read whatever you want, even if it’s simple or cringe or a reread or whatever because after completing the first few impulsive reads that you find engaging enough to finish completely, you can worry about reading what you think you “should” or what would benefit you specifically if that makes sense. Like I’m completely pro reading new things and not limiting urself to 1 genre but there’s no harm in taking your time moving onto things that don’t immediately pique ur interest. Get into the groove of things first, the criticism of ppl who are well past the target age market for YA but still exclusively consume it doesn’t apply to people who are trying to rediscover their love of reading imo.

📖 keep books nearby all the time! (All!!! The time!!!!) You might not actually read them 45/50 times that you bring them with you to places/keep them near you wherever u spend time at your house, but those 5 times will be bliss and you’ll thank yourself! Do it! Especially if ur open to ebooks and can read them on ur phone!

📖 put your phone somewhere far away on mute and force yourself to read for a specific chunk of pages or time. Very old person-ish advice but like. They’re onto smth when they tell us to do stuff like that, but they’re also way too smug and holier-than-thou about it so no need to tell any of them that! 🤫 but seriously be honest w/ urself if u have a compulsive notification checking problem and challenge yourself to overcome it long enough to meet a very small teensy tiny goal 🥅

📖 I juggle a lot of books at once and I’m constantly planning ahead in my brain when I do it, without consciously meaning to (library deadlines for digitized books are so strict 💔) And often I don’t end up following these plans perfectly, because following them perfectly isn’t the point, especially since life happens all the time and isn’t often very receptive when we wish we could forget everything and read for several straight hours. Reading shouldn’t be a burden, but the vague guidelines help. I think stuff like “tomorrow I’ll finish this poetry collection before bed” or “I’m gonna study and then read 2 chapters of this novel I’m rlly digging as a treat before continuing,” “I’m gonna listen to 4 chapters of this audiobook while I take a walk or do chores” etc etc. and usually I end up reading at least a little! And the best thing is when I read more than intended because the book is just that fun. I don’t write these plans down, but if it helps you to do so I urge you to anon :0 !! Just remember ur writing them on paper/a screen and not in stone, so you can always be flexible and change things around and you’re not by any means a failure for doing so. To be flexible w/ urself is most likely to ensure long term progress imo!

📖 speaking of juggling it’s absolutely fine to cycle through a ton of books and sometimes abandon them for months and come back when the whim strikes! If your memory is good enough and you prefer having a bunch of variety at all times, jump from book to book with reckless abandon! It legit doesn’t matter. Also don’t ever hesitate to drop a book if you’re not vibing it’s not worth it. Time is precious life is precious you’re doing this for fun, yes? Drop the book if you can’t bring yourself to care theres sooooo many more where it came from! Be merciless and picky!! It will pay off I promise, and to be that way is not antithetical to challenging yourself or stepping outside of your comfort zone unless you make it that way.

📖 buddy read/have an impromptu book club w/ someone. It doesn’t have to be official, and I’ve done this multiple times with people and sometimes we just don’t finish the book/meet our set goals and that’s a-okay! It’s still worth it to have someone to talk abt the book w/ and you guys can always pick up where you left off or try another book. Literally no stakes at all as long as everyone involved is chill and understanding <3

📖 set a reading goal you think you can manage by the end of the year! You might surprise yourself 😳 and if you don’t oh well! You’ll still have read at least a page in pursuit of said goal 🔎

📖 read short stories! The internet is full of them, and short story collections by multiple and singular authors are everywhere 📚

📖 do some searching and make a list of books that you’re extremely excited to read or really wanna revisit. And then pick your next reads from there! If you want recs for books or short stories you can always shoot me another ask or look at my goodreads (or goodreads in general)

Am I the only one who doesn’t get why some (tw) are shitting on Haru and Rin separately just for the fact that they reciprocate each others feelings? Because it’s not the feelings they wanted them to reciprocate? Just curious because I'm new and recently entered the fandom. And since when miscommunication in between means that they don't deserve to be happy at the end? Because you're an idiot when it comes to love, doesn't mean you're a bad person. I came from chinese bl and it's weird to me.

Hehe welcome to the madness, perfect time to join! Yeah, tbh that's the thing in the fandom that always bugged me the most. The fact that some act like if you don't reciprocate someone's feelings, it makes you a bad person. I always found it incredibly cringy when ppl in real life for example make ppl feel guilty for not feeling the same way and make you feel like shit bc of it. I don't get why you have to apologize for that or feel bad, if you never ever gave him any hope or anything in the first place.

Nowdays it's thankfully a rare sight already in this fandom, bc most already grown and see perfectly what's truly healthy and unhealthy, it's just tbh only the same 3 accounts ppl keep sending me that are still on that, who also think that Haru is literally possessed in the last movie so I don't see the point of like arguing with ppl like this. It's just they're always getting extremely angry when Haru wants Rin as if it's his fault that he feels this way and always go about it like he is inconsiderate of Makoto's feelings. Implying that they're mad that he doesn't feel that way about Makoto, while Makoto does. I'm same as @tododeku-or-bust for example said here (idk what fandom brought this on, but just in general) also do not get what's appealing about this kind of relationships in the first place.

If they shipped it in terms of like it's mutual I'd get it, but they go on about how Rin or Haru are bad friends bc they're not in love with their best friends... like ?????? I didn't know you owe it to your friends to have romantic feelings for them.

In real life if you found out that your bestie feels that way for you while you don't reciprocate, it's a burden, that'll make you feel uncomfortable and at times guilty when you shouldn't technically feel that way. So putting on someone a burden of "I was pining for you all along", when you know they don't feel the same is giving me this feeling of cringe. So I personally do not get what's enjoyable at seeing it like that in Free. But to each their own kink lmao.

It's like... is Haru at fault for the fact that he was Ikuya's first love too? I do not get it really. Like he doesn't have to take responsibility for everyone who falls for him and he doesn't owe anyone to reciprocate their feelings. Even to Rin. Like if he didn't feel the same way for Rin, it wouldn't be his fault either. But since he does feel the same way for him, it's like... good, great, happy for them.

Like once again if someone believes that Makoto and Sousuke are unrequitedly in love with Rin and Haru, that's not rinharu fault. Haru literally never ever lead Makoto on EVER. He never ever did anything that would make Makoto believe that they're more than friends. He was always honest about everything. Like when Makoto thought that he went out to see him, but Haru just wanted to see the sunrise, he told him just that. He never encoraged anything, he refused to live with him and never wanted. I do not get why it's supposed to be his fault that he doesn't like his friend in that way. If Makoto has some unrequited feelings for him and decided to hang up on this, it's his own life choice in my opinion.

It's like saying that Onodera and Takano for example don't deserve to be together just because they unintentionally hurt each other and got separated for 10 years bc of misunderstanding. This argument is like typical Yokozawa life position aka "but I was there when he left you heartbroken for several years, that means you MUST pick me". As I've said before, that's just not how it fucking works. And just bc they couldn't explain things to each other normally, doesn't mean that they don't deserve be happy now. Being idiots is not a crime.

Or if you came from chinese bl, lets go "Guardian" for example. Zhu Hong also was on about how "why you love Shen Wei, not me, I always did everything for you and I was always there, I even wore heels bc you once said you liked those etc". Like he never asked her to do this, he never gave her any hope, he was beyond rude and open about the fact that he's not interested, he never did anything to make her think she had a chance since the beginning. Just bc she decided to dedicate her life to false hope that maybe one day something might change is not his fault. It was her choice. Why Yunlan should feel like shit bc of that I do not get personally.

I'm just buffled bc like Haru for example is the most caring about other ppl's pain person, but they call him selfish and rude bc of the way he is with Makoto at times, not even realising that it IS in fact what means being kind sometimes.. to not give someone a chance when you know you don't feel it. I was always saying this like since forever, being kind doesn't mean for example giving everyone second chances, loving everyone, wanting to be friends with anyone etc. In some situations it's not being kind, it's being stupid or even not being a good person. Once again... offering someone friendship after he openly dissed your friend and you see that he's not in any position to talk back is not kind. Or if someone cheats on you constantly, but you always forgive them it's also not you being kind. It's you being stupid. Sometimes you have to be harsh. It's for the greater good.

And like I saw several times stuff like someone under scenes where Rin has his eyes for Haru only, commenting like "oh great, look at Rin being inconsiderate of Sousuke's feelings again. Can't believe you guys find this romantic." I mean, if in their opinion Sousuke is in pain from being Rin's friend, he can end it, it's his choice. It's not Rin's fault that he thinks of him as just his friend. So thinking that Rin is an asshole bc each time he simply hangs out with Sousuke he's a selfish bitch is fucking insane. I'd feel extremely bad if my best friend was seeing it this way for example. It's like hella ugly.

This annoys me also bc of the fact that Rin, the person who at the age of 12 single-handedly saved his family from falling apart after his father's death, who's an amazing friend to Sousuke and did everything to make his happy after he found out about his trauma and always checks on him first and cries about his shoulder, who in the late evenings taught Rei to swim, when everyone else gave up already xD, who was looking after Nitori during his training, who pretends to walk the same road, just because he's scared to let Gou return alone in the evenings, the most amazing son and brother, is suddenly an asshole just because Haru is in love with him, but not with Makoto. I mean, thats just... huh? Like I dont mind you ship what you want to ship, it's like to each their own crayons for real. But like dissing them and call them selfish just bc they only see their friends as friends and don't want anything more is weird to me.

As for the fact that bc of the misunderstanding they don't deserve to be happy, that's just idiotic. I mean, lets punish Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan too just bc Lan Zhan couldn't voice his real feelings back then and bc WWX misunderstood him. Lets ship WWX with Wen Ning instead. Nezumi is cancelled, he doesn't deserve to be with Shion. He left him. Takano should stay with Yokozawa, Onodera is trash. Wu Xie is trash for wanting to be with Zhang Qiling too. It doesn't matter why he leaves, it only matters that he always does. I can't believe he doesn't see that Pangzi is there with him all along xD. What an ungrateful trash of a human being I can't even.

And anyways btw both Rin and Haru are not ideal human beings in any way (otherwise I wouldn't love them this much tbh xD). But their flaws are definitely not what for example mh shippers usually blame them for. You can argue about their other imperfections easily. Like being stupidly stubborn for example. I won't point fingers here, Haru lolz. Or literally anything else.

My point is you can find what to trash them for logically, if you wanna. Do it smartly tho. Otherwise you make your ship look bad.

And I once again say what wise person said about his relationships and about the fact that not being able with someone he loves hurt him and 'why is he doing this to himself' he answered: "it's not on him. my happiness and my pain is for me to handle". Everyone decides for themselves. This is why for example Haru was so broken about voicing this to Rin and didn't have any intentions to tell him that in the first place. Bc it's not right, if you're not sure that it's requited. Technically he has no right to blame Rin for making him fall in love with him and then leaving in the first place. It's not Rin's fault really, that he made him feel what he feels for him, it's ultimately Haru's problem. That's why he feels has no right to blame him in the first place. I mean, he doesn't know that Rin feels the same, that means saying to him "you break my heart each time you leave" and making him feel bad about it is technically wrong. That's why Haru to himself said "no, please, don't say such things to him". Everyone for himself decides who deserves your 5, 7, 800 or 10000 years of your pain. It's your decision. It's your life. If Haru feels like Rin is worth it, then you have no say in that matter really. The only reason we call Rin an idiot or Haru an idiot is because we know they feel the same, so we can. But blame someone else for not feeling what you're feeling is not right.

So like even if you feel like Makoto and Sousuke have feelings for their friends, blaming Haru and Rin for having feelings for each other and not for them is beyond weird. And there's nothing wrong with putting someone you love first, every bro/sis gets it. You can say bros before hoes all you want, but like Lan Zhan might just drop his bro for his hoe, if he was given a choice. Would it make him a bad person? The fact that Wu Xie chose to save Xiaoge before Pangzi makes his a bad person? My point is it's not all that easy.

I just feel like many ppl in this fandom are very weird about many things. Either because they do not get what it's like to go through some things or maybe they just do not get that no matter how cheesy this sounds love is not that simple. I mean, for example not all selfish is bad, sometimes like in Haru's case for example not being selfish is also bad. Bc if he finally asks for what he wants, he will make both himself AND Rin happy.

To be angry at Rin bc of the aftermath of his father's death and s1 I never had it in me, after knowing everything and how adults handled it. If some of Sousuke's fans bc of Yakusoku and the fact that Rin found his salvation in Haru bc he helped him to move forward after getting his family out of this hell alone and that Haru was the safe haven that made him happy in this moment of his life, want to trash Rin for the fact that he "neglected" Sousuke, its like your opinion. I personally do not get it. Rin doesn't owe Sousuke anything. It's not his fault again that Haru's existence helped him to feel better.

Just like not everyone will get why Haru in 1x12 was so happy about the fact that he could help Rin. To be that special somebody for someone who can "save" you in moments of your life like this, especially if you love them is an incredible feeling. And no, your bestie isn't always the person for this job, no. I don't see why people do not get that I guess, that's all. But we all have our own opinion on everything, so...

We same as you do not get it since forever, but its like it is what it is in this fandom. I personally just have another life position on stuff, so I'm very far from that point of view they have.

One of the best tropes in BT is when OC and a girl are standing by a window or balcony and the girl says something like “isn’t the view beautiful?” and OC looks and her instead of the view and says “Yeah.”, any chance we see that one more time before BT ends? 👀

Oh you can bet your ass the last couple of chapters will have as many BT tropes as possible. Including:

-Momo bitching about the other girls and reminiscing about how she used to be the only one banging OC

-Sana almost doing something to win over OC, but choosing to cry instead

-more of Jeongyeon being an overly perfect Mary Sue of a love interest because that’s just the author’s ult bias showing through

-Unnecessary, overly detailed tactical information describing what OC and team are doing on the mission that has no bearing whatsoever on what actually happens

-more heel/face turns, because all the antagonists in BT are secretly softies who turn into good ppl after sleeping with OC

-more reminders of how Lisa is wild and unruly and a little crazy

-more words that "remain unsaid" and OC being unable to come up with the right words for how he feels and blaming the English language for it

-random story arcs that appear out of nowhere because there is always another, bigger, badder antagonist that's been pulling the strings all along

Not gonna lie, I tend to overuse certain tropes/scenarios/phrases. Maybe it's just my style, maybe it's because BT has been going on for so long that I forget I've used them before. I like to think my work and my writing has improved as the years go on, but I also think it's far, far from perfect and to say that it's flawed is a massive understatement. I look back at some chapters of this story and fucking hard cringe at how shitty some of the plot devices and writing is.

But I still love it and I still love all you ppl who read it, so I suppose that's all that matters. <3

What do you see happening in the future with Lucas and Elizabeth?

I hope Jack rises from the dead (that would reek havoc and fun). Really I wish them all the WORST. OH and I think Lucas has deep secrets he wants to hid and I think the writers may even pull a repeat storyline (like with Nathan - even though they claim they don’t repeat storylines).... COUGH COUGH CHARLES MUCH?!? Oh and they’ll have his dad show up in town to cause drama. I almost hope Lee starts to clash with Lucas.

I think Lucas will be supportive of her in her work and raising jack and there relationship will grow and they will be engaged sometime in season 9.

I'm honestly not sure. I think they have a lot of work to do before they even think about getting married because we haven't even seen a fleshed out relationship between them. I assume there will be some adjustments with how Lucas will fit into Jack's life too as he will be getting older since there has been zero interaction between them. I really have no idea but I also could not care less about either of them, so I'm hoping they won't monopolize the time in each episode. But I also think it would be hard for them to monopolize time because they don't even do anything lol, this is just a long winded way of saying I have no clue.

Getting to know each other better. Helping each other with changes with their jobs. Getting married.

I see them supporting each other through career struggles, Lucas trying to find his role with Little Jack, Elizabeth maybe feeling weird about Lucas’ money and trying to go full homesteader :)

Them having trust issues only because of how little we actually really know about Lucas and he has put himself in sketchy circumstances before. I honestly just don’t trust him, he’s been portrayed so perfect this season which isn’t realistic at all.

They should be working toward learning how to fully trust each other and communicate properly. Hopefully Lucas bonds a lot more with Jack. I have loved the little interactions between Lucas and Jack and there needs to be more if he is supposed to be Elizabeth's next husband.

Maybe a proposal by the end of next season. I'm really so neutral about the relationship that it doesn't matter to me. Maybe if we actually see some development I'll feel differently.

I really do not care enough to have any thoughts - I will be skipping what the show comes up with anyway.

They have a satisfying break-up lmao. That final scene was the most stilted and painful thing I've watched on the show in ages and that's saying alot.

Truthfully I will be disappointed to see Elizabeth go back to her privileged ways because of Lucus. I think she grew independent of her upbringing and to set her right back into the lifestyle she was born into totally undermines the strength and courage we watched her character blossom into and fell in love with.

Honestly, I have no idea. Whilst I do love the actors and watch them separately, I find it very difficult to watch their relationship on screen together. For some reason it sets off a deep seated anxiety in me, so I tend not to watch them where I can help it. If I do watch in season 9, it will be for the supporting cast stories, and I will avoid their relationship storyline altogether.

They think he’s boring, they think he’s a Jack 2.0 (Brian Bird even said this on Twitter). They undermine his duty, frame him as if he is some like creep who followed Elizabeth to town, when in reality he was doing it out of respect, duty and honor. They are so needlessly disrespectful to him (Kevin knows this), especially bc they framed it as if Nathan never gave E space and time, which we know is BS. He is a real man and does what real men would and we know WCTH is scared of a real man. They’ll try to put him with Faith (snooze), or hell maybe they have not renewed When Hope Calls and he will become a lead on that show (I’d welcome him back into Alfonso’s arms any day). Lord knows Alfonso can write and actually respected his character.

Nathan will partner with Bill regarding mining disaster investigation and Pinkertons.They need to make him prominent next season for show to survive because Kevin McGarry is beloved by fans and the best actor on the show next to Martin. The Mountie character should be prominent. If they try to put him with Faith it will be like a Dr. Quinn-Sully type relationship, and I don't think it will work. I love Kevin opposite Jen Lilley.

They will probably shackle him with Faith and that will bore me.

I'm hoping we get to see Nathan form more friendships with other HV residents and deepen his relationship with others. I assume the Pinkerton storyline (which I have no idea how that will play out) will bring him and Bill together professionally, so I would enjoy to see their friendship be fleshed out more. Hopefully more of him with Allie and facing her teenage years as her father will be fun to see. I hope they bring in a new love interest for him because I would really enjoy seeing him catch the eye of someone new and vice versa.

I’d like Allie to put E in her place when she oversteps her involvement in N&A life since we know she will. It’ll show A maturing as a 14-15 y/o and serve E a much needed amount of humble pie after the crap she pulled with them in S7&8. Please no rushed friendship with e or l like give the guy a season and also make them the uncomfortable ones. He deserves to hold his head high. I would love for him to tell E he’s more than his uniform and it’s unfortunate she never tried to see that.

He needs to find someone NEW so when Elizabeth comes back it's too LATE!! Faith and Nathan NO WAY!! You can't just fall out of love with someone just like that.

Challenges in him being a Mountie . I really hope that he has a good storyline and has some romance with faith and is happy in his life and not despressed with Lucas and Elizabeth being a couple.

For Nathan, we should see him slowly healing from his heartbreak, and fully finding his place in the community beyond Elizabeth. Definitely more of him and Allie as a family. I expect our Mountie will become involved with whatever is going on with the potential new factory and the Pinkertons hanging around. No guesses as to what he and John Tinker have in store exactly, but I hope it’s good! As this is a Hallmark show, they probably can’t bear to leave a main character single for too long, so they’ll probably start setting up a new love for him, but hopefully not too soon.

Well, I liked Nathan’s parts

that they attempted to fill some of the holes in plots and that they gave everyone something meaningful to do. Ned and Florence were great. Loved meeting the Canfields.

I was happy with the season up until the finale. I loved the thought of Elizabeth and Nathan going through everything to make their relationship stronger. Now it seems pointless. They kept kicking Nathan while he was down and he never got a fair chance

Absolutely nothing. It was blasphemy. My favorite moment was Either the Fort Clay argument at Bills uniform event thing, or Allie sticking it to Mrs. Thornton by ripping up the dinner invitation in front of her face in the school house. I like any suffering Elizabeth went through and Lucas.

Some things that were left hanging from prior seasons were resolved. The Canfield family- it was nice to see faith-related things being more included in the show again like in earlier seasons. Florence and Ned were adorable. Mike and Fiona were pretty cute together too- love how they encourage each other to be their best!

The Canfield's.They are a breath of fresh air. I love that they love God, their family, and others. Ned and Florence was a beautiful love story. Bill and Molly. Molly giving her dress to Florence, Fiona adventures, Nathan and Allie's stories, Rosemary and Lee, and every minute of every Canfield.

Humor, Ned and Flo, finding out Nathan's involvement with Jack finally. I thought Kevin did a magnificent job and I loved seeing Jaeda shine- she is so talented. I loved Henry and Christopher and the positive impact of Rachel. My personal quote favorite: "Go stuff your trout!"

Anytime Henry referenced Abigail and telling stories about ALL the characters, not just Elizabeth. I like the whole ensemble cast feel. This season did keep me engaged, I always tuned in when it aired.

The Canfields arriving, Henry mentioning Abigail, and Nathan and Allie - because Kevin McGarry and Jaeda Lily Miller are incredible actors with fantastic chemistry.

I really loved seeing more storylines introduced with the other characters and then for the most part developing those storylines. I adore Ned & Florence, I thought their wedding episode was so sweet, and I think they will bring a dynamic as a couple that will be fun to watch. I like how they have such a rapport together and with the mercantile being the center of town, I'll enjoy seeing more of them next season. I loved the edition of the Canfield family, both Angela and Cooper are so sweet and are great additions as HV kids. And Minnie and Joseph quickly turned into some of my faves this season too! I love them as a couple and I love them building relationships with the others, the Lee & Joseph friendship was definitely one of my favorite things this season. And Minnie is such a soft-spoken badass, I would listen to her read an audiobook all day long haha. I enjoyed learning more about Henry with the addition of Christopher, I definitely liked the depth their scenes brought. Any time my faves Lee & Rosemary were in a scene together was a win for me. I liked the crush developing between Allie & Robert too, v cute. Overall, I really enjoyed the new relationships that were formed and the new additions that were brought in, I think it paved the way for a number of new stories that I will be excited to see play out.

Martin Cummins was phenomenal, and I loved the whole Christopher story, including him and Rachel, and Henry reflecting on Abigail and being there for Ned. Joseph and Lee’s friendship is great. Loved Rosemary finding a new career. And Robert!

I would’ve liked Clare and Jesse struggling if they handled it better. I liked the general structure they began of drawing out stories and slowly unpeeling their layers but they set up too many in every episode and didn’t follow through well. If they can tighten that structure, it would be great.

Carson and Faith's conflict was honestly really compelling to me, and I'm fine with Carson leaving as well. The theme of calling was also really good in my opinion. I also loved Rosemary in general. She's my favorite character and I love watching her grow throughout the whole show.

I was very happy to see more representation on screen. The Canfields brought representation for POC and people who are blind. I would like to see more diversity in the cast.

I really liked the Canfields. They brought a nice dynamic to the show. As always, Rosemary and Lee were my favorites. As far as I'm concerned, they're the heart and soul of the show. Ned and Florence's wedding was nice too.

Everything but the love triangle was better than anything we've gotten since season four. Christopher, Henry, and Rachel were my favorites of the season. The Canfields, the angst of the love triangle - it felt more realistic then this show has in the past, with people making mistakes and trying to find their way. For anyone who has ever had strong feelings for two people at the same time, there was a realism in the way the writers handled it with the shifting feelings, the questions about what and who is right, the missteps and the emotional angst. The last two scenes of the finale (writers, actors, setting, humor) were pure magic. Oh yeah - Ned and Florence!!

The Canfields! They were such a welcome addition. I also loved Florence, the Florence and Ned wedding, Elizabeth and Lucas as a couple. And this was a pretty good season for Henry! Happy to see Faith back too. I also appreciated that there were more storylines that lasted more than an episode or two and it felt like a coherent season. It wasn’t exactly fantastic, but I don’t expect that of When Calls the Heart and I quite liked the season overall.

Hoped to see more of Fiona, too as she is comical playing off Hickam. Show really veered off course-[ writers kind of dropped stuff in and out on a whim and I thought the show lacked connection between storys and characters over time. Lots of whiplash- Canfields just moved in to a cabin then almost immediately sold it. Rachel was dropped in then all of a sudden leaves to celebrate a birthday. All of a sudden newlywed Ned applies for a bandaid patent! What the hell???

Some type of villain. There was no crisis, no major overarching storyline aside from the love triangle. It overtook the whole season. Thought I was watching The Bachelorette for a second.

The love triangle was set up to bring Elizabeth and Nathan together - and don’t tell me they weren’t in love, Brian Bird, you literally spend 3 seasons showing them getting closer, feeling physically affected by being around each other, protecting each other, and becoming more open and you literally had Elizabeth seek him out and draw him in over and over again, getting closer to Allie as a mother figure in the process. Don’t tell me that’s not what a woman in love does for someone she loves, both romantically and deeply. And no resolution for ALLIE: Elizabeth telling Nathan to pass a message to Allie in that rejection scene, not even seeking Allie out to apologize? Is that somehow supposed to make that little girl feel better?! Treating Allie, her beloved student, like some insignificant afterthought, after everything Allie’s been through, just because she realized she’s in love with Lucas? Unbelievable. So yeah, sorry not sorry but I’m sore and pissed off, I feel manipulated and I’m angry. I did not buy Elizabeth’s sudden desperation to find Lucas, I did not buy that kiss or that she would want to spend a lifetime with him. The storyline literally did not support this ending at all. Even if I did want Elizabeth with Lucas I would feel shafted because their interactions were so damn surface-level the entire season. Here’s a replica of Elizabeth and Lucas’s backyard date conversation: Elizabeth: *wears a saloon-worthy, not flattering, potentially scandalous dress* Lucas: Did I tell you how beautiful you look tonight? Elizabeth: yeah you mentioned it a few times Lucas: do you know how happy I am to be with you? Elizabeth: yeah...you said. Me too I guess. Oh and by the way, sorry about baby Jack, sorry he exists, and that we had to have dinner in my backyard Lucas: leave the dishes, I’ll have Gustave my slave come and collect them. Tonight should be about us Elizabeth: ... *crickets* *light hand holding*

So for season 8? I wanted more of Nathan and Elizabeth getting together I guess.

Obviously I am bummed about the lack of a baby Coulter this season, but the interview with Kavan & Pascale has made me hopeful it will happen next season. Even with the lack of a baby for them, I was disappointed with the whole Rachel thing because they barely spent any time "parenting her". She spent more time with Christopher that we saw on screen than she did with either Lee or Rosemary, and every scene they were in together was pretty much spoiled in the trailer for that episode, so that was a let down for me. I would have liked to see them actually spend some time with her or watch them struggle with parenting her. I always want more of them in general too, but I do feel like they got pushed to the side this season to make room for the triangle and other stories to play out. I'm really hoping for more of them next season, especially as it seems as though their journey to parenthood is finally in the cards. I also would have liked to see more of the HV kids this season, I did enjoy most of the scenes with the kids.

Rosemary and Lee were tired and wasted for most of the season, needed more of their fun. School scenes - I wish they would’ve tried to do something outside. More stories that weren’t romance. (And you didn’t ask but I could use way less of Elizabeth dramatically stopping and gasping.)

I missed a certain simplicity which was evident in other seasons. I often felt that there was too much going on and that weakened the storylines since there was only so much time for each one.

More focus on the other characters and less on the love triangle.

Allie and Nathan having some incredible adoptive father-daughter laughter and tears moments, like her teasing him, him teasing her, and them going on trips together, just ALL Nathan and Allie. They deserve a spin-off. They are a great father-daughter love story. Way better than the romantic one.

Elizabeth and Lucas go on a very long trip to Europe together and season 9 is all about Hope Valley without them.

More of the Canfields.

Less stressful situations. Mr. Canfield becoming the town's preacher. So happy that Hope Valley will have a preacher. Someone the town people can go to with their problems. Only good can come from putting faith back into the show. Thank you.

Henry and Abigail in some form; Rosemary being a tenacious journalist; real relationship work and personalities for Jesse and Clara; a fun mayoral race; the town coming together again for important things unlike the complete lack of momentum this season from Jesse being lost or the rig exploding; and just get rid of Faith. Bring back Dottie or something.

Rosemary and Lee finally starting a family, and for anything good to happen to Nathan whether it's above interest or something else. He suffered this season, he deserves good things to come his way.

I hope to see more character development. I would especially like to learn more about Nathan and Lucas now that the decision is made. I want them to be more than suitors for Elizabeth. I would also like to see them become friends. If Nathan must have a love interest, I would be interested in a woman of color being casted for the role. Also, even though it would be nice to see Rosemary and Lee have a baby, I think it would be really interesting to have them adopt a child or two (siblings).

Up until a little while ago, I was very opposed to the thought of Abigail returning. I wouldn't put it past them, and if Gowan isn't gone forever, it could be an interesting plot. (She would need to take on a less involved role, and not sure Loughlin would agree with that)

I want Henry back (don't care if it's with or without Abigail). Lee & Rosie to have a baby (don't care how). Nathan (& Allie) to have a good storyline and to be happy.

I just want to see Lucas and Elizabeth break up. I cannot hammer home enough how painful that final scene was. If this is how their relationship is going to be, I'm barely going to survive.

The survey did not give me an opportunity to say that Nathan needs to STILL get together with Elizabeth, so I had to pick someone else. The survey should be designed so that I do NOT have to pick an answer that I do NOT believe in. I hope that the writers will realize that they set up a story, especially at the end of season 7 and in 8 where it looked liked they were setting up Nathan as Elizabeth’s choice. Her choice of Lucas makes me wonder if she is only responding to the “temptation” she feels around Lucas. (He tells her, It is not a date, but if it were a date and he lightly touches her hand...This is duplicitous behavior!) Elizabeth and Nathan have tough conversations about real life and they have the kind of relationship that is very healthy for a long term marriage. ...Frankly, I CANNOT watch a “romance” develop between Lucas and Elizabeth. They might have a similar interest in literature, but the inside character and values of each of them are very different. Elizabeth only needed a little opportunity once Nathan was free of guilt to give him a chance to win over the “romantic” side of her heart.

Everybody calm down. There was nothing new, better, worse, different, or surprising about how this season was written/handled. We don't watch WTCH for it's sparkling dialogue and satisfying storylines. We hope for something showing decent people living good lives with faith and optimism, and they still manage to do that (and have finally brought back the "faith" part of this with the arrival of a new pastor) even if they screw the pooch with the details.

I truthfully haven't seen a single episode. Had it recorded and followed this blog and live viewing comments on the FB page. After hearing how everything went down in the last episode, I have absolutely no desire to watch the season. I could have forgiven Elizabeth for how she acted towards everyone if it was truly her working through her fears of being with another Mountie. But since that wasn't the case, I have a lot of dislike for her (and the writers) now.

I was Team Nathan for a long time - pretty much two years. I saw the writing on the wall when Lucas said he would wait and again when Elizabeth was resistant to moving forwarding with Nathan at so many steps along the way. Even the hand holding post wedding seemed intentionally friend zone. And look on her face when she realized that she was acting with Nathan like she did with Jack, to me that was the end. All the signs were there. Some people were so routed in Nathan that they couldn't see another possibility. I have opened my mind to Lucas because I love the show. And you know what - it's not so bad in land of Lucas and Elizabeth. For those who are devastated and done, maybe down the road, when you're feeling less heart broken, you might want to try going back and watching with a more open mind. There is some pretty hot stuff there. Because of my love for Nathan (and yes, I still love him!) I couldn't have said that a year ago. :)

It's not because my guy didn't win the girl, but because this story is getting too much like a soap opera and in the case of that last love scene, a little trashy for a family show.

After next season I will look at the recap. If you have changed Elizabeth's stupid decision I will watch again, if not, there are plenty of other shows to watch.

I have never been so mad and sad at the conclusion of a TV show..not really my personality. BUT the chemistry between Nathan and Elizabeth was undeniable. Nathan proved over three seasons to be his own unique character, and fans would not have labeled him as Jack 2.0. There would have been plenty more stories to tell. Now I think I am done watching. The other characters are great, but the story is mostly Elizabeth’s....the way it was created and, in spite of Jack’s death, the way it has continued. I honestly think the producers want a show that is going to last for a long, long time, so it needs to begin focusing on other characters. And I also think that Nathan and Elizabeth would have been so great together that the spotlight would have stayed on them. This would have wrecked the direction the producers want the show to go, but instead the show is just wrecked by a new formula that isn’t working.

What a relief that I can move on and actually feel so good about it. Yippee!

I was really enjoying this season, I thought they were doing really well and better than they ever have and then in the last episode it felt so rushed and thrown together without any thought!!! That ruined the entire season for me. I can’t even go back and watch it again because it’s all for nothing! It was so obvious that E was in love with N but just scared of her past, I was waiting for something to happen for her to realize. And maybe to see the quote that N gave her again. It seemed that L was just a rebound/distraction I didn’t see one ounce of affection from E toward L. And what about the bachelorette party? Didn’t that mean she was meant to be with N? And the touch in the library? They were portrayed as “sparks” but apparently it was mistaking him for Jack??? Come on, we are meant to believe that garbage??? There was none of those scenes with L, what love story are they talking about in the last scene? So many things! How can N say it was L all along when we saw zero evidence of that!

I’m finished with the show. I do not care to see how S9 plays out. They do not deserve my time after the complete disregard to viewers time and investment over the last 8 years. I am appalled at the reaction from Brian Bird and Chris McNally. I have never been so offended as a fan. I will not watch so they can send their rude tweets to the very few people that still watch their show. I’m DONE!!!

Too many storylines this season, writers need to tighten it up. Love triangle was handled the worst possible way it could be handled.

This season was a disappointment unfortunately. And not only because of Elizabeth, but also because my favorite characters either weren’t a big enough part of the storyline or they just were so different from previous seasons.

I'm still so shocked at the outcome of this finale. It's even more egregious to me because they managed to ruin just about every character and it was so unnecessary. I wish they had Elizabeth choose Lucas in the first episode of this season that way they could have let them grow together while also letting Nathan begin to move on and Nathan and Lucas to begin a friendship. But they took it so far and raked everybody through the coals that I just can't imagine any of that happening right now in a realistic way. I think I'm the most upset because there is a world where I would have been fine with Elizabeth choosing Lucas. But they spent the whole season + prior seasons showing us that her love for Nathan was deeper, that there was more to explore there and that her time with Lucas was limited & she couldn't be with him because she kept thinking about Nathan (I don't care what any one says, that is what was done) that I couldn't even get into the relationship between Elizabeth & Lucas. Then at the last second went JK NOT THAT'S NOT WHAT WE WERE DOING AND YOU'RE STUPID FOR THINKING THAT! It's just so unbelievable.

They got it so wrong...

The love triangle was annoying and a straight line. Elizabeth was horribly written. Nathan was screwed over. TeamNathan got screwed over. I will still watch just to see what happens next. I will not let Elizabeth/Lucas storyline ruin it for me.

The finale was my favorite episode of the series. I’m so happy they didn’t go down the same road as jack with her picking Nathan .I love Nathan’s character as a Mountie but NOT with Elizabeth. I’m so looking forward to seeing her and Lucas as a happy in love couple I’m just so happy and there kisses were so beautiful and passionate I couldn’t love them more.

They made the case for a beautiful love story between Nathan and elizabeth- not for Lucas and Elizabeth. The ending of that triangle was not believable for me. Kevin McGarry is a fabulous actor with tremendous range and seems to bring out the best in any scene partner he has had. He has always been believable in everything I have seen him in. He is a true leading man and they should be treating him better or he will/does not have to stay with the show. I am not trying to trash Chris McNally, but he is rather limited as an actor and looks almost wooden in some scenes. I can't always hear his dialogue because he speaks too low or too fast sometimes and he is not always believable for me- nice to look at, yes, but not the actor Kevin is. Maybe they partnered him with Erin so she could help him develop more. I love Allie, Rosemary, Henry, Bill, and Fiona and can see some great stories ahead for them if the writers don't screw things up. I would never be able to stomach Lori Loughlin and Abigail again, and I feel they will force her back on the fans next season. As evidenced by the love scenes in the finale, Hallmark is changing this show forever- it will be edgier, sexier and much less "Christian-based". Not sure if the Hearties will accept that. I don't really care anymore as I am no longer supporting Hallmark channel. Don't like the mess they made this season, or many of the changes made in their movies of late. I have found myself tuning out a great deal. I hope people like Kevin McGarry, Jaeda, Kayla Wallace and Pascale are seen i other non-Hallmark projects so I can enjoy seeing their work. Really disenchanted with Erin Krakow's performances of late.

These writers just told the laziest, quickest, ficklest (?) “love story” I have ever seen, EVER.

That ending really just made no sense at all..what was the point of the whole season before it?!

Terribly written finale. So rushed and smacked together. Yuck

Sigh... it really was a letdown after it seemed that all the signs were pointing to Elizabeth facing her fears and accepting the love of Nathan and loving him in return and them being one big, happy family.

This was my first season watching WCTH in years (since like season 2), so I’m glad I wasn’t too invested just to be disappointed in the end with the decision Elizabeth made.

I hate that Elizabeth used to be my favorite character to the point of seeing myself in her, but now I really dislike her. On the bright side, at least I've grown to love Rosemary enough for her to be my new favorite!

I think the writers need to listen to their audience and work to smooth out this bumpy season. I hope the writers are more selective with the storylines they choose so that those arcs can be fully developed. For example, Jesse being missing in the last two episodes was mishandled in my opinion. So few people cared that he was gone and I don't think the writers even fully explained what happened to him.

So glad the triangle is over, and I hope we never see anything like it for anyone else again.

Overall I liked this season (except the love triangle stuff) but I don't know if it will be enough to keep me watching. Guess I'll have to see how season 9 plays out.

I'm glad Carson is gone lmao. I'd be pretty happy if I never saw him again. Henry better be back. Lucas and Elizabeth can move to Hamilton...seriously. Baby Jack deserves a more attentive and present mother. But honestly, keep Carson away & write Lucas and Elizabeth off and I'd be DELIGHTED and actually stoked for season 9.

The stories are lame. I want more Lee and Rosemary. I did not like Christopher/Rachel. And, why are they doing with Henry? It’s all confusing.

Please consider reversing Elizabeth's choice. She and Nathan look so good together. Lucas is too lecherous looking in my opinion.

I wonder if Rachel will return will Lucas and Nathan become friends?

The season sucked! The writing was poor and there really wasn’t a triangle. They misled and lied to the viewers. It would have been easier to accept Elizabeth’s decision if we saw her date both men and see how it worked out with each of them. The writers never gave Nathan the opportunity but instead used him as a punching bag the whole season.

I can’t even bear to rewatch any of the seasons after that ending. I’m so glad I didn’t preorder the season—and I’ve canceled my HM subscription.

Get new writers!

I was for either guy at the beginning of the season. All they had to do was show me the love story. They didn’t do that.

The choice of Lucas was ridiculous. Will no longer watch the show. I’m very sad.

If you are going to have Elizabeth and Lucus in a relationship I would hope that you would work on him becoming more child friendly. If he doesn’t accept little Jack then he doesn’t deserve Elizabeth. They are a package deal.

Love the show. I think people that threaten to stop watching because “Team Nathan” are just bellyaching and will wind up watching it again just to have something to grouse about. It’s just a TV show, people. If it always goes the way you want you’ll just complain that the writing is getting stale!

Extremely disappointed with this season. Will no longer watch.

This season felt like it was perfectly setting up for the next. It felt like a lot of new beginnings were being set up leaving us ready to explore.

I’m personally Team Lucas so I’ve been happy with the decision but I actually think if Nathan had “won” it would have been more interesting for Lucas in s9 so actually think Nathan as a character will have a better, more interesting s9

I said the season was good and the writing was, but I will clarify that the finale TOTALLY ruined the underlying track that was being built up for Elizabeth to choose Nathan. I don’t believe that the script writers gave Nathan the chance that they gave Lucas. Elizabeth grilled him to try to find him guilty of wrong, but Lucas had a number of shady deals that reveal poor character and Elizabeth did not find out about those and have a chance to grill him. If she knew those things, would she still be choosing him? Elizabeth was allowed to be “charmed” by his superficial lifestyle and empty promises. Because of Lucas’s shady dealings, he and Elizabeth almost got killed in the saloon. Later, he said he would never let anything happen to her. Nathan was the one who saved Elizabeth and Nathan’s life in that scene. Lucas is a talker with empty promises and Nathan is the one who actually rescued Elizabeth from Lucas’s bad deeds. The ending of Season 8, Episode 12 is NOT even logical. She needed someone like Nathan to protect her from Lucas. If this is REALLY who Elizabeth is, I don’t want to watch her. She does not follow her own advice. Once Lucas’s full character is revealed, we would only have to watch her get hurt over and over.. I CANNOT watch an Elizabeth and Lucas love story. The writers should not be biased against Nathan just because he was a Mountie. He should be seen for himself. Also, if Elizabeth cannot love Nathan because he might get killed this is not a strong enough reason. Lucas could get killed. She told Ned that he could miss the joy if he didn’t go thru with his wedding with Florence. This should have indicated that she would get over her own fears so that she could experience joy with Nathan.

I truly hope everyone gets to the end of season 9 and is pleasantly surprised. It is the eternal optimist in me, but I would love to see getting there and being unable to imaging things being any other way, despite the heartbreak we all feel for the series right now. As I mentioned, I have my doubts, however am trying very, very hard to keep an open mind.

I hated the way Nathan was treated this season and won’t be watching anymore.

I think my opinion on this site is in the minority, but Lucas and Elizabeth have solid chemistry and the chance for an interesting relationship. However, I would have been cool with Nathan too. I love Kevin McGarry and want to see more of his fun side as he dates and raises Ally. Could absolutely be a great relationship between Fiona and Nathan, but someone new could be exciting too if it's the right person. Happy the triangle is over. Disappointed at the number of self-proclaimed "Hearties" who are acting like angry (Team Nathan) or gloating (Team Lucas) children. I love this show because it's about kindness, being decent to one another, and forgiveness. I had hoped fans on all sides would follow that lead, but not so much I guess. Here's to hoping we all embrace the Hope Valley way, putting the triangle behind us and moving on to whatever comes next!

I thought I would continue to watch even if she chose Lucas but after the way the season played out, I feel like TPTB care more about generating drama for the ratings than good storytelling and I won’t be used like that again.

I gave season 8 an average rating because I liked the stories about Nathan/Allie, the arrival of the Canfields, the love story of Florence/Ned and finally the story of Henry and his son.

Fans need to stop getting hung up on everything BB and the actors say to manipulate viewers into watching. I learned that lesson the hard way from Pretty Little Liars. We were misled over and over by the showrunner and let down every season finale. The series finale was the longest hour of ridiculous shit to ever air on tv. We were looking for clues the whole time (7 years) and there were no clues, just a lot of pointless crap. I never pay attention to anything BB says on social media or what actors say in interviews. I watch WCTH without looking for clues or expecting any outcome. I saw E picking L a mile away. I like the idea of a heartbroken Nathan getting his own romantic storyline and look forward to that new love story next season.

This was a very good season I like the direction they went with this season and I’m very happy the triangle is finally over and she ended up with the man of her dreams. Lucas and Elizabeth are endgame .

Screwed us over big time. Not just us but the characters too. Nothing made sense and the whole season was for nothing because the story didnt go anywhere. Dont trust Hallmark anymore to write a complete, meaningful, and satisfying story. The more I read about the writers of this show and some of the actors responses to the fans disappointment, the Lee’s I want anything yo do with this show. They’re arrogant, disrespectful; I guess thy think they’re so popular that everyone will tune in again next year. They think they have it in the bag. Nope! I believe season 9 will be a failure and probably their last one.

I don't hate the season but the bad balanced out the good so severely I felt like it was just a 'meh' season. I guess that's still an improvement from how I felt about S6 and 7, though.

Been a fan from day one - you lost 70% of your viewers. Some comments from WCTH have made the fans feel if you don’t like their story line don’t watch - they are correct - I won’t ! Should of listen to the 70%. Good luck with your viewer ship you forgot who pays you!

I was surprised that E. was so insensitive leading Nathan on for so long. She is also very materialistic and obviously chose Lucas for all that he could do for her without much depth.

Honestly, I mainly watch the show for Rosemary and Lee. I would like to see them become parents at some point, but I would also like a little more of Rosemary’s backstory. We gotten some of Lee’s backstory. I think it would be interesting to meet some of Rosemary’s family at some point. I am glad that Lee and Rosie are finding their niches career wise.

I just don’t see Lucas as Jack’s father. He hasn’t cared one whit for the boy, and yet the boy is everything to Elizabeth?? Doesn’t make sense. Since I don’t want Abigail back, I hope Henry isn’t going to get her. Alas that also means I think he’s likely left the show. Maybe good for Martin, since it has veered so far away from its beginning. Thanks for all your work on this Melanie. I value it a lot!

I wish I could take back the last three years of life that I invested in this show. If I had known they would do this I never would have come back after Jack's death. Despite that, I still love and adore and am invested in Nathan and Allie, and some other side characters. But I can't even fathom watching season 9 after what the writers did. My WCTH, the one I loved and enjoyed, ended with season 7.

New actors for Ally and little Jack, or less time on screen

The storytelling was not coherent; storylines started and ended abruptly with no flow. They need to get back to the roots of the show and make it more of a family drama again, not an over-the-top soap opera.

Chris McNally and Brian Bird’s attitudes are contemptible. I was not happy with the finale and how everything played out, but their comments have set me over the edge to choose not to support anything they are in or a part of. Rude, self righteous attitudes from both. I’m done.

I am shocked at my own reactions. A TV show shouldn't have so much affect on me but I am truly unhappy with Elizabeth's choice...and I think I am crazy because it is really bothering me!!

I am upset how the season ended. She picked the wrong man. I see no chemistry there.

Honestly no, I am not happy with how the characters were written, both Lucas and Nathan deserved better, Elisabeth came across as constantly freaking out and not following her heart while running over a lot of people (Rosemary, Nathan and Allie in particular) but she's never been my favourite character anyway, so whatever.

Elizabeth’s character has changed drastically. She has become egotistical, pompous, cruel, The character that Jeanette Oke originally wrote is nothing like the Elizabeth we now have.

Elizabeth played games with Nathan and Lucas just like she did with Jack and Charles. The series was written about a school teacher and a Mountie. Not so anymore.

The betrayal of the original story and the fan base is hard to overcome.

I have completely changed my opinion about this show, Erin Krakow, and the direction this series is going in.

This season had so much promise but the finale left me angry. Agree with other comments that if they had invested in a better story for E&L it would be different. Warming the serge was the only time E “might” have been confusing Nathan for Jack. Their relationship was so different... single parenting, especially. Their love story could’ve been even more epic than E & J. Just a real shame. Will not continue to watch. Moving on.

The writer's blew this. I am absolutely disgusted with the character of Elizabeth. There is no way a school teacher and mother would have been allowed to associate with a saloon owner in that time period without being run out of town. It's ridiculous that they expect fans to be okay with this.

If I decide to watch, I will skip the Elizabeth and Lucas scenes.

I’m very happy with all of the promising storylines in season 9 , Rosemary and Lee’s business vendors, faith being the head doctor Henry’s story Elizabeth and Lucas finally being a couple there is a lot of promise in season 9

Tinker and the producers destroyed in 1 season, what Moreno worked so hard in weaving and building up a beautiful storyline with Nathan and Elizabeth to form the Grant family. They have to understand that fans are leaving not because of Elizabeth's final choice. The reason is that Tinker and the producers disregarded the premise and the family wholesomeness of the show, and debased it by making it into a poorly written soap opera with lots of shouting and cheap superficial steamy scenes and called it "romance'. They did not take the time to carefully development of storyline of why Elizabeth's decision. If they have done a good job leading to Lucas as a decision, I think that Team Nathan's fans would have accepted the choice. Instead, they played with fans emotions and hurt them badly through the season from both Teams misleading them and make them think who was the endgame. They need to realize that we watch WCTH because of the feel good and heart warming story. The fans kept to the end because they wanted to see their guy been chosen, even though there was lots of anger and disappointment. Who really wants to watch a show that does not entertain us in a heartwarming way. Tinker and the producers are arrogant, prideful, foolish, and not to be trusted and have no integrity to go back to what WCTH values that kept the loyal Hearties coming back yearly. They destroyed all Moreno's hard work to rescue the show after season 5. We wanted a family friendly clean show that make us happy and hopeful. The show is shifting to likes of Dallas and Dynasty with steamy scenes, skimpy clothes, bickering and may become darker stories.

Tinker did a horrendous job by introducing too many disjointed scenes and characters that led nowhere. He did not take the opportunity to develop the story behind Allie's dad, Rosemary and Lee barely had any storyline, many couples bickering and destroyed Elizabeth's character as a morally strong caring woman. The "new" Elizabeth in this season was cruel, mean, self-centred, uncaring and was not really sorry or remorseful for her actions that hurt Nathan and Allie badly, as well as Rosemary. Is unrealistic that Nathan was the one who convinced Lucas to stay.

Positives of the show was Ned and Florence's romance and wedding. Loved the Nathan and Allie's storyline. Nathan portrayed as the noble, sacrificial, kind, wise, heroic and because he loved Elizabeth, he let her go. It showed that Nathan was the better man with an impeccable character.

After this season, Elizabeth has been cheapened to a weak character that did not overcome fear, getting onto people's affair (Especially into Nathan's even when she rejected him, which gave him false hopes), was attracted to wealth and superficial romance, instead of the deep abiding unconditional love with Nathan. She became hypocritical by giving everybody advise and yet she did opposite to what she was saying. This Elizabeth did not deserve to have Nathan. He is too good for her. I don't know what will happen to littleJack as I can't see Lucas to love Jack as his own. He might be raised by nannies (as Elizabeth have already done) and become a Little Lord Fauntleroy.

If the writers and producers are smart, they should focus on developing a compelling and heartfelt story for Nathan. In my opinion, he is the favourite character that embodies all the good values in When Calls the Heart, even through his imperfections. If they focus on Nathan and weave a great story, they may get some of Team Nathan fans coming back to the show and avoid cancellation after season 9.

Thank you for providing a platform to voice my opinion and disappointment of Tinker and the producers (eg Bird, Erin Krakow) ruining a show that could have been wonderful with lovely storylines for years to come.

It is time to move on from the love triangle. No matter what a fan group was going to be heartbroken. No point feeling so betrayed. We were never promised an outcome one way or the other so there was no betrayal. There was only disappointment of not getting what we wanted.

This was my least favorite season overall. The main characters didn't seem quite themselves, key couples weren't in sync, no compelling storylines other than the arrival of the wonderful Canfields, Elizabeth & Rosemary were even on the outs. Missed the kids (although completely understand why they couldn't be there). And very, very disappointed in the ending. Not a fan of Lucas' character at all.

Hallmark really dropped it on this one. Look at the survey and polls the fans wanted Nathan! A good show ruined. If this was the plan for Elizabeth a different actor should have been cast as Lucas. No chemistry , a saloon owner it just makes NO sense. The storylines are so disappointing. I am done!

I have some complaints, but overall I liked the season and am genuinely excited for season nine! Positive feelings here for sure! Still, I understand and respect that a sizeable portion of the fandom is upset (I was prepared to be completely crushed myself so I Get It). Since the love triangle ended the way I wanted, I’m relieved and prepared to just enjoy whatever comes our way next.

Ratings were down in the key 18-49 demo by 10 percent last year, and now 20 percent this year while total viewers remain flat. I guess we’ll see if their gamble pays off next season. But it really seems like a lot of their most loyal fans really got hurt, and as we know, karma is a b%^^. So much for the showrunner righting the ship.

Adding something to the SFW vs NSFW fics as well as longer and shorter ones. It's not a secret sex sells and it's exactly the same in the written world, so unfortunately no matter how hard you try smut fics will usually get more interaction. I'm someone who likes a good balance, because pure smut very rarely caters to my preferences, but if there's an interesting plot involved I don't mind it as much.

It all depends on my mood tbh, but I also noticed most SFW fluffy or angsty stories are pretty short, just blurbs or headcanons. I personally prefer longer fics, even if just oneshots I like when they're at least 20k (thank you tumblr user baekhvuns for your service btw). Shorter fics often feel rushed and unfinished to me (no shade, because I read a few great ones, but I usually feel a bit unsatisfied cause the potential for a longer fic is often there). The way fics are written matters as well I can easily get turned on/off by authors' wording especially during smut scenes, but also as someone on the aro spectrum I don't always enjoy the romance bits, sometimes it's too cringe for me to take, so there's that.

Sorry it's so long haha, but that's my personal take and from my experience I know many people feel the same. It's just easier to engage people with a longer and more balanced story (smut-fluff-angst) though it's much harder to write. In the end you can never satisfy everyone, so if you truly enjoy writing don't get discouraged, there are people who still wanna read your stories and that's what matters.

(borrowing the format from miss kanaiii) that is so very true, it’s so unfortunate because, because of this many writers who prefer writing fluff get forced/turned into the mindset of “if i write smut ill get more success or notes” and i see it quite often but i think as much as interaction they get, it doesn’t satisfy their own expectations ifykwim

yeah def def,,,, im sure everyone notices that how there’s a lack of good long, nicely written angst that ends in a sad ending. that in its own sense would break me entirely, i usually see reactions as fluff and angst ones but i don’t quite often (tho there r some) see full blown like 10k+ fics with those types of themes in it.

the heart wants what it wants. and as much as I love my angst, sometimes I need me some freaky shit like,,, Lacho AUs in which the cartel is not a factor and Lalo and Nacho are just. REGULAR ASS BOYFRIENDS.

LOTS of assorted headcanons under the cut!

Lalo has his own little restaurant. No one knows how it stays afloat with the erratic way Lalo’s leading it, but it seems his family’s somehow just absolutely loaded, so he can afford it. Honestly sometimes it feels like he just uses it to fuck around with new recipes. Like there’s no real rhyme or reason to what he’s doing, but everyone loves his food, he’s really good with the patrons and if he parties the whole night through then it doesn’t matter cuz the next morning the kitchen still looks spick and span and Lalo’s awake and chipper, ready for the next day! How does he do it? No one knows, especially not his staff. But when someone asks, he just laughs it off and changes the subject and oh my god he’s so charming how could anyone resist him? -

Lalo’s still on the antisocial spectrum and manic af in this AU, so his approach to relationships and emotions is a bit different than your neurotypical one. He seems to have a penchant for breaking rules, can be manipulative at times, and certain things don’t affect him the way you’d expect. But most of the time you wouldn’t even know, cuz generally he’s a really affable guy who’s a lot of fun to be around. He’s genuinely trying not to step on anyone’s toes. That being said, you don’t like him then yeah, he don’t give two shits. -

Nacho used to be part of some gang, but got out in time. He now studies business or something like that. He’s super ambitious and keeps badgering his papá about investing into technical improvements that would make his shop more effective and streamlined. Manuel gets heart burn every time Nacho runs the numbers by him. He’s been running the shop for longer than Nacho is alive, he’s not gonna contract new debts after it took him so long to pay everything off...! And Nacho insists that’s how business WORKS, it’s all about investment and growth. Manuel says with a smile that when the shop is Nacho’s, he can stuff it with all the novelty apparatuses that he wants, but he’ll have to wait until Manuel is no more, and Nacho is like papá don’t be so overdramatic...!! And Manuel laughs and pats Nacho’s back because actually he’s really proud of his son and the fact that he’s so concerned with the shop and they’re HAPPY GODDAMMIT -

For some reason this AU doubles as a modern AU as well. Which means smartphones exist. Nacho spends. SO much time on Instagram. Photos of his car. Photos of Nacho leaning against his car. Gym selfies. All over the damn place. And Lalo doesn’t understand insta cuz he’s a tech averse king, but he still secretly checks out Nacho’s blog all the time cuz yummy! Sometimes he comments on Nacho’s posts with a bunch of. really weird emojis, half of which don’t mean what Lalo thinks they mean, and Nacho thinks it’s cringe af. -

They’ve been having this thing going on for about a year and they’re both suuuper casual about it, like, SO casual, especially Nacho, wow he is so incredibly low key about this, like he is not too all over this or anything, just the right amount of relaxed, laid back, so cool, yeah. -

Just that Lalo is actually incredibly flirty all the time and courts the hell out of Nacho, he’s almost a bit gentleman-like about it, almost a bit old-school, and Nacho thinks that’s kinda dope and the way Lalo treats him like he’s the sexiest thing on earth sometimes comes across as a little condescending but there’s something about it, too, that makes Nacho sometimes lie awake at night thinking about it, brushing his thumb over his lower lip and thinking about the way Lalo pulls him in for kisses. -

When Lalo picks Nacho up from the gym, Nacho smiles when he sees him. When Lalo cracks a crude joke about making people swallow condoms, Nacho chuckles. When Lalo makes him food, Nacho enjoys it. When they walk along the sidewalk in the evening, Nacho casually bumps into Lalo and Lalo puts an arm around Nacho. When Lalo is close, Nacho feels comfortable, and warm, and drawn to him. -

Nacho has had a couple of girl- and boyfriends, but he’s only ever introduced Manuel to his girlfriends. Manuel’s known that Nacho’s into boys ever since he came home early to teenage Nacho and Domingo sitting on the living room couch 6 ft apart with their shirts rumpled and their faces red as beet. But Nacho didn’t seem to want to talk about it, so Manuel respected that. He’s a bit concerned cuz he’s afraid Nacho feels like he can’t talk to him, but he wouldn’t wanna push him. -

So all of Lalo’s attempts to meet papá Varga have been met by Nacho with stone-walling and general avoidance. -

But Lalo’s a very family oriented person so he just decides to make it a surprise dinner! At first Manuel is a bit wary cuz alright, what’s going on, who is this guy? But then Lalo turns up the charm and he’s just one of these guys who are absolutely stellar at wooing older ppl. So he keeps charming circles around Manuel with food and jokes, and Manuel kinda starting to like this guy, and when Manuel wants to get himself some more beer- nonono you stay put Sr. Varga, I’m gonna take care of this for you - and then they get to the part of the evening where Manuel tells childhood stories about Nacho like how he cried when he lost his first tooth and Lalo is just ab-so-lute-ly ENTHRALLED by it all and before you know it he and Manuel are BFF. -

all the while Nacho just. SEETHES in his corner. -

Manuel leaves and Lalo and Nacho start cleaning up the kitchen, and they’re very quiet until Nacho just goes “are you going to tell me what the hell all that was about?” and Lalo’s like “???” and Nacho’s just. “That little sing-and-dance you just did there? Like. What’s your end-game here. If this was some kind of attempt to get to me through my, dad, to, idk, somehow get emotional leverage over me, istg...!” And Lalo’s gets honestly serious and looks and Nacho all earnest-like... “man... is it really that hard to believe that it’s important to me that your dad likes me...?” and then he goes “you know what, Ignacio, you seem upset. Why don’t you just go home and leave the kitchen to me, yeah?” and so Nacho does, and he’s really angry at Lalo, and he doesn’t really get what just happened there. -

a couple days later his dad calls him and Nacho is kinda concerned but Manuel doesn’t pick up on it, he’s just like “Mijo, I just. Wanted to say how important that was to me, to meet your boyfriend, he’s a really nice y-...nice man.” (Nacho notices the gap where the “young” should have been lmao) and actually Manuel is trying to be like “Mijo, I am supportive of you please notice that I am trying to tell you that I think this is super okay!” but Nacho is so busy being confused cuz he’s never referred to Lalo as his boyfriend in his head even though they’ve been at this for over a year. So Nacho’s kinda monosyllabic and like “so. he didn’t upset you or anything?” and Manuel’s like “noo, he was really friendly. You didn’t give him a hard time, did you, Ignacio...??” Manuel gets all stern and fatherly...!! “Let me tell you one thing. Not a single one of your girlfriends has ever been this polite or interested in me. This man, he’s being serious about you. Maybe it’s time to stop being cautious.” -

and that’s when it starts to dawn on Nacho that that’s. Honestly all there is to it. Lalo wasn’t trying to manipulate him or whatever. He honestly just noticed that Manuel is an important part of Nacho’s life, and wanted to connect with that. And that is- actually. really sweet of him, what the fuck?!? -

Nacho lays awake again that night and notices that there’s something going on in his chest, like something big and warm blooming there and oh my fucking god you can’t be SERIOUS this is RIDICULOUS he’s way too old for this shit, AND way too worldly-wise and all that! -

So Nacho drives by Lalo’s place the other day and asks him whether he wants to go for a drink and so they go to a bar and sit there in silence for a moment until Nacho goes “my dad asked about you” and Lalo chuckles and is like “yeah? at least someone who misses me!” and Nacho rolls his eyes but he’s kinda got it coming now. Anyway, so, Nacho starts explaining that his dad is the most important person in his life, and he is soft and sweet and precious and a national treasure that must be protected at all costs and if someone was to hurt him and all that jazz. And Lalo’s like, yeah, no, I get it. Family is everything. And your dad is a really cool guy. The problem is that for Nacho, it’s just been him and Manuel against the world for so long, he’s gotten kinda prickly about letting anyone else get close to his dad. But maybe this is good, and maybe, oh god he doesn’t really wanna think about it in that much detail, but like, Lalo gets it, and they leave the bar together and Lalo immediately gets out his phone and calls Manuel like “Sr. Varga, I’ve been wondering how you’ve been doing! What, Nachito? He’s doing fine. No, nooo, he’s not been mean at all. Couldn’t if he tried. Well, I hope you have a great evening. Yeah, talk to you soon!” and Lalo’s just absolutely obnoxious about this, winking at Nacho and everything and Nacho sighs and accepts his punishment. (Later Lalo’s gonna be like “of course you were right, I did have ulterior motives. I was just trying to butter you up for the dinner I have planned with my uncle Hector!” and Lalo keeps talking about how much he loves his tio and how he’s basically a father figure to him and such a great guy. But then they meet him and Lalo only introduces Nacho as “a friend”, and Hector is this grumpy old guy who hates absolutely everyone and everything, can’t go two sentences without being racist, sexist or homophobic. And Nacho’s like aaalright, guess I gotta deal with THIS now. But they don’t meet him that often so it’s alright.) -

OH but Manuel is still a BIT conservative about SOME things?? Like, he’s fine with Nacho having a boyfriend, but does he have to be so. you know. old...? Like. He’s not your sugar daddy, right Ignacio...? You’re not expecting him to keep you, right Ignacio...??? And Nacho is kinda pissy because UHM?? the implications?? He would never?? He’s nobody’s trophy boyfriend. He does like getting paraded around like one every now and then but he’s not. He buys his own damn stuff. But yeah sorry Nacho, that’s just how parents are sometimes lmao -

ANYWAY the point is, they. They care. Nacho cares Lalo. And seeks out his company on his own accord without any outside influences forcing him to. And Lalo cares Nacho. And they kinda start to accept that this is. a thing. And Nacho learns to accept that he can let himself feel save and comfortable around Lalo. And they’re just regular ass boyfriends. Who go on vacation together. Who have just fantastic sex without any coercion or backstabbing involved. Who fall asleep on the couch watching movies together. Who celebrate each other’s birthdays. All that freaky shit!!! 😭😭😭

its pretty funny that most of my special interests ive had or still have thus far r now considered ‘cringe’ or w some interests even incite like an aggressive response on this site, like e.g. werewolves, emo music, kpop, homestuck, bts, furbys, makeup, etc. like i know it shouldnt matter what ppl online think but its a bit frustrating to see ppl respond in a ‘oh my god kill it w fire‘ kind of way (w misogyny nd racism sprinkled in in the case of bts) but me saying in the past that i thought video games or d&d or football are weird or stupid (which is also of c wrong to say) ended up in me nearly getting kicked out of chat rooms nd very angry reactions bc it’s unheard of to treat those so negatively in a generalized way.

but w stuff i like it‘s totally ok to generalize based of off misinformation nd prejudices nd generalizing fans of stuff tht has some issues as ignorant of it instead of acknowledging fans r the very ppl who analyze & point out these issues? though w furby it’s not even issues w the thing and just. ppl being weird abt kids toys

so the uh, the au! the story!! w/e yall wanna call it! full disclaimer, i only began working on this whole thing a while ago, but it's totally taken over my fukn brain. like, we're talking big hyperfixation hrs. am i cringe for being this invested in my own content? yes? cool i do not Care >:3€

i should also throw it out there real quick that i am kin w/ infinite, n this is actually one of my two canons (both of which are my own aus lmfao wow). i didn't go into it expecting it to be but sfsfsgdfs here we are ig!! for that reason it's got extra importance to me n this definitely contributes to the euphoria i get from it!! it's a lil odd writing ur own canon,,? but i kinda just go w/ the flow!

the au n, the story that i will start Eventually, revolves around infinite n starline (obvi) n it's honestly just ... the tl;dr is big healing momence n, what's this? uh oh sisters !!! they are falling in love 😳😳😳

uhhhh so infinite is an android, made by eggman. that's like, the most notable canon divergence here! super important context to have. i've got a whole big theory on the possibility of sega originally intending infinite to be an artificial being (which i explored in the works for my Other canon too), stemming from not only the scene in forces wherein infinite comments on sonic's "data", but a line of dialogue from tails in one of the last stages of the game where he Literally Says "so this is where eggman built infinite". that ... i mean. that contrasts w/ episode shadow pretty hard don't it?? would explain why that dlc was so rushed, n the comic too. ANYWAY adsfsfs um that's a seperate ramblepost. yeah!!!

they are also agender n use they/them (primarily) as well as he/him!! so i'll be refering to them w/ those pronouns!

after the war, infinite is taken in by the resistance n, instead of being dismantled, they're basically given a chance to rehabilitate themselves. it's agreed that they won't be reprogrammed, as despite the potential risks, it feels wrong to do so; like a violation of their free will, individuality n thinking. if infinite is to be a good person, it's not gonna be bc other ppl recreated their entire personality, it's gonna be bc it's what they themselves truly want. robot ethics idk man!! u can't tell me that sonic n co wouldn't offer this to infinite if they offered it to metal in IDW,,,, i am Standing By This!!!

it's, yknow, a bit rocky, at first. infinite has to really fight the urge to return to eggman (something they already tried once, before the resistance found them; they were cast out). it's a struggle against what they were built to do, against giving into unhealthy familiarity over facing a, while healthier, unfamiliarity. new faces, a new life, turning their back on their mission n creator, it's like, a lot.

they work for/with the sonic crew, rebuilding the world they tore down as deemed fitting justice, being closely monitored for a bit as a natural precaution. as it becomes apparent infinite truly no longer has any ambition to harm others (they don't have much ambition for anything, really), they're then granted more freedom, n start taking on more important missions!! it at least gives them something to do, keeps them occupied. they have issues with dissociation, unreality, whether they're truly a real person bc, well, android. feeling purposeless, n a lack of worth, especially. a need to prove themselves. heavy stuff. i'll kinda go into that a bit more in a sec. their work grounds them, if only temporarily.

n soooooo... IDW comic stuff happens. metal virus time. starline gets kicked out of the empire.

now, as the comics are ongoing, n as this is already an au, there's gonna be divergence, n i must admit i haven't planned out all that yet. there's a lot i have to consider!! infinite being w the resistance/restoration is a big game changer ... tho i Do believe that they were absent, likely on a far out mission during most of the chaos. eggman doesn't know abt them, nor does starline or anyone else other than the sonic crew; n some civilians that recognise them.

i'm not 100% sure of Exactly when it happens, but i think it's just after bad guys, that infinite is sent to locate n bring in starline. it doesn't prove too difficult. there's a whole, starline realising "oh fuck it's you???", some bickering n, the two don't hit it off right away. they're both kinda like. not mentally stable ddgddgdds,,,

so uh. starline ends up essentially going thru the same sorta shit as infinite. careful watch, rebuilding, all that jazz, making sure he can be trusted. he's like... very very lost, quite like infinite is. the world has kinda calmed down, in the meanwhile.

it's at this point i'm gonna go ahead n drop a bit of a ramble i subjected my friends to a while ago, to articulate the way i see the two, n their dynamic together!! i was considering making this it's own post a while ago!

analysing their characters a bit... let's look at starline. Like. so we have this, in bad guys, which SENT ME tbfh;

i feel like it's the moment that triggers starline onto the path he is rn canonically,,, he's clearly like. rly mad n bitter. the core of this?? he wants his work n his efforts to be acknowledged.

he's big angry. still kind of in denial at this stage. he has himself obsessed w/ the idea of making eggman see him as Worthy, that if he just tries hard enough, that'll happen. he's dependent on eggman's validation, n i mean, it's no surprise; he's followed him a Long Time by the sounds of it.

then in the recent issue, hold the fuck up, bc we got, This;

god. my god it's all comin together now homies. this???? this right here??? it is the CLASSIC "i have to do this to prove i'm strong n powerful n smart n worthy n should be respected please Give Me Acknowledgement" ..... n who else is Like That? can u see where im going w/ this?

i think most ppl are aware of infinite's character being extremely indicative of self worth/esteem issues n the need to prove themself, right?? the extreme adversity, repulsion, perhaps even fear toward the idea of being weak. the compulsion to prove otherwise, to show their strength, to become powerful, to conquer to make a point. their theme exudes this same energy as their behaviour in-game; an aggressive attitude, trying to assert themself, while if u rly listen...? the lyrics are actually really sad in places. it reeks of cover up, although composition wise, a v interesting thing to note is a lot of the more telling lyrics are prominent while some of the affirming ones are in the background. indicative of a desire to have their true feelings be heard but caught in a vicious loop?

okay okay that's yet Another different analysis. AHEM.

not to get deep on main (oh who the hell am i kidding that's the point of this entire thing) but i think starline has issues w/ his worth in a similar way to infinite. they both seem to have this need to Prove something, whether it's to others or themselves, n get caught in a toxic spiral of doing worse n worse things for Some kind of validation or acknowledgement. they'll go to really big lengths chasing that, n both of them ultimately sought validation in the wrong place n wrong way.

this is a big part of my starfinite dynamic,, n so, what happens, as they get closer n open up??? we have them BOTH realising together that they don't have to do fuck all to prove anything to anyone. they don't need to do all this to show they're strong n smart n worth something, not to anyone else OR themselves. they're enough as they are. they bond over that shared feeling that they have to do xyz, to prove themselves, n that desire to just finally be acknowledged n appreciated n help each other thru it. to help each other understand that other ppls approval, or lack thereof, doesn't define them, their strength, intelligence, and worthiness.

i feel like they have an interesting parallel between them in like... the above could be taken as a general analysis, but to go more in depth on this au specifically?? ...

starline followed eggman for presumably a long time n it no doubt left him feeling a heavy and deep regret for all that time wasted n spent on an unhealthy path. infinite kinda teaches him that what matters is what he's doing Now n also reminds him that if none of it happened, starline wouldn't have learnt a lot of the serious skills he has. n while starline still feels bad, he also realises himself that, he likely never would have crossed infinite's path if none of it happened. for that reason, he wouldn't take it back.

infinite has only been recently made, on the other hand. they haven't really existed long, yet, but so far their experiences haven't been very positive n it can be .... discouraging. starline sorta, shows infinite their limited experiences w/ the world are a very tiny fraction of what's out there, n things can absolutely change, yes, including for the better; that's the essence of life, a neverending, constant flow of change.

it's a big tale of moving on n letting go, honestly; made easier as they're doing it together. n as they heal n grow, well... these bitches gay. sfshshdgds like, ig that's putting it p bluntly but!! they start to trust each other, understand each other more. as they get to truly know who the other is, they both start developing The Feelings. they're both pretty oblivious n the reveal is totally unknown so far!! yeah, i know, bummer. i suck. boo. adafsfsds however i can say there will be lots of content in the making!! if that soothes the soul! i've got of ideas i hope to bring to life.

ofc there's still a lot of more specific things i haven't covered here so! if y'all want more juice hmu w/ more focused questions but !! this is the overview n i hope it was a decent read now that gave some uhhh! Cool Insight! yea!!! ✌
