#so if you completely overhaul the story like a year or two before it's meant to be in cinemas

How can all of Garth’s personality, relationships, and history became irrelevant to the current comics runs? What happened?
Great question! After Flashpoint happened, the Dc Universe reset. For a lot of comics, there were no major character or lore changes. However, the Aquaman comics got a major overhaul.
It’s important to note that Aquaman lore has changed over the years, but the changes were either slow or the kept much of the same characterization, but updated certain aspects. For example, although Death of a Prince takes place in the Bronze Age of comics, it was playing off dynamics already established in the Silver Age, and the story was tweaked slightly when the post-crisis reboot happened, so the events were still relevant in Volumes 4-6 (80s-early 2000s). The lore expanded to say, these major elements are still here! We have changed some things, and here they are! And this is how it effected what you might be familiar with, etc.
Then comes the New52. In order to make the comics easier for newcomers to read, about 90% of the characters and Atlantean history were removed completely from canon. This includes Garth, who was the longest-running humanoid supporting character!! (Topo the octopus is the longest-running returning character, and for the record they also got rid of him)
They re-did Arthur’s backstory (adapted to something similar to his Silver Age origins) and some characters, like Orm, were completely re-done as well to fit the new lore. They did not do this for Garth; in fact, every major element of his character that tied him to the story was removed. His kingdom I mentioned in that last ask? Gone. Atlan, the wizard who trained him? Gone (although they do re-use that name, the New52 character named Atlan is not Atlan from previous stories). The rumor about purple eyes? Actually not gone, but they did completely change what it meant and when we meet an entire community of purple-eyed Atlanteans, Garth is not among them. (Purple eyes have been an element to his character since his introduction, btw)
“But comicvine says Garth appeared in the New52!” I hear you cry. Technically true. But here’s a fun fact: they “teased” his return on the last page of one comics, and his design was so off from all previous versions that the fans did not know who he was supposed to be. Why? He was wearing a color Garth was never seen in, sporting a strange tattoo on the wrong side of his face (those lines aren’t a tattoo in pre-flashpoint btw…it’s a scar, that Atlan gave him) and because Garth had always, always, always been the child that Arthur adopted…the fact that he showed up as a fully formed adult with no connection to Arthur was so strange that even the Aquafans did not make the connection!!
This character, a mercenary who never spoke to Arthur, appeared a few more times before being quietly re-set in Rebirth.
Now, let’s recall that the comics removed all aspects of this character’s connection to the story, including the very fact that he was essentially Arthur’s adopted child. This is STILL TRUE in Rebirth. I cannot think of a time that Garth spoke directly to Arthur in any of the comics, but Mera said once that Arthur basically paid for Garth to go to Magic Underwater Wizard College, which is something that exists for some reason. Also he dropped out of Magic Underwater Wizard College because his girlfriend died, but we don’t know that woman’s name and he has literally never brought it up outside that single comics.
I want to say, I am not against changing backstories. Garth has had two and a half backstories since the 60s! But they grow and expand to fit the new world they live in. The writers took time and energy, they poured their hearts into making this new character appeal to their brave new world. But DC has not given Garth that same grace these past 15ish years. They had so, so many chances as well! They could have rewritten him in a way that was satisfying to his old fans. But they do not give a shit about Garth.
You see. DC wants to trick you. They want to say “everything is canon now” and not have to put in any effort. except my dears, the Aquaman comics are so complicated that they cannot exist at the same time. Because sure, maybe we can say Garth is no longer royal, because that kingdom his parents ruled no longer exists. But without that bloodline, why is he the most powerful Atlantean sorcerer? Did he never complete a highly emotional task of claiming his birthright, and accepting the death of Tula so he can heal his emotional wounds? Oh. Tula is alive? And now related to Orm? And they hardly know each other? Well, he just went to Magic College and he’s good for absolutely no reason at all. Is he still close with Arthur? I’m not sure. Arthur paid for college, but has never spoken to Garth. Garth is absent from all major life events in the Aquafamily. He has never met Arthur’s biological kid. He has no useful role inside a comic that he used to be an integral part of, his usual role has been split among others. So there goes his backstory. There go his emotional connections. Goodbye to the major emotional highs and lows as well. Goodbye to his personality traits, intentionally written to be played off of Arthur’s. Goodbye to any kind of role in the narrative; when you can replace his character with a nameless extra, is he really part of the story?
And when you remove all of that…what is there to like about this character, anyway?

Gen One - Pisces
You spend all you time lost in your thoughts and wildest fantasies. The world doesn’t really operate the way you want it to. All you want to do is wander in your local park and paint. How did you even get the money to paint? Just as anyone would dumpster diving. I mean, yeah sure… people do smell you miles away before they even see you. It’s a familiar scent. You really don’t mind at all that you only have your art easel and a sleeping bag.  Most people would hate the way you live, but they don’t have your imagination. The sleeping bag? It’s a cloud. The scent you’ve collected from your “scavenging”? Earthy. You have an expansive imagination and can make the best out of any situation. Once you sell enough paintings you can start to build your house. For someone who lived in the park for so long, you really don’t want much.

You grew up feeling very loved, but misunderstood. As you got older you began to realize that you didn’t learn a lot of usable skills. As someone who loves to spend time alone, you had a lot of time to teach yourself the skills you desired. It seemed that your parents had no idea of the world around them, they were very much confined in their own bubble. With every realization you begin to resent your parents more and more. It becomes your life mission to reach the top of your career and make as much money as possible. Towards the end of your adult years, you achieve your goal. You still want more, so you risk it all. It doesn’t end up working out and you lose 50% of the money you invested.

You’ve never been one to take life seriously because you have yet to see any consequences. Your parent stressed the importance of working, so on your birthday you get your first part-time job. You have such a carefree attitude towards it that you skip a few days here and there. Surprisingly, your boss doesn’t really take well to that behavior. So weird, right? Time to find a new job at your local coffee shop. During the training you are required to taste a variety of beverages. You then realize this is the key to doing it all. You can stay awake long enough to do all your school work, work a job, and have a social life. When you become an adult, you take all the skills you learned at the coffee shop and start working as a Mixologist.

Due to your parent being incredibly intense and demanding, you chose to avoid them at all costs. You felt it was a lot for you to handle. Now your parent wasn’t exactly in tune with their emotions, I mean all you remember is their short temper. Most people around you found you bit odd and had a hard time making deep connections. Thankfully, you had a computer in the house, so you were able to find community through online. It’s not that no one liked you, but anything beyond a surface level relationship was hard. With all the time spent of your computer, you taught yourself all the ins and outs. One day you decide to meet up with one of your gaming buddies and meet for the first time. You did not expect this at all, but you form a crush on them. When you start working for the tech company you’ve been admiring from a far you finally find your people.

Some would say you’re judgmental, and they would be correct. Your parent was obsessed with technology, they really thought that it was the most important thing ever. You look down on anyone who relies on it, as you see it as a crutch for someone who lacks the ability to think for themselves. You have a hard time organizing your thoughts, it’s almost like there's someone else in there. When you had the idea that you wanted to study law in university you struggled to come to terms with technology making its way into the legal system. Why do we have to change things that already work? Being resistant to change, you continue to avoid it. You’re forced to use it at times and you complain the whole time. Upon Graduating, you start as a Paralegal and the first case you're assigned to involves a start-up entrepreneur and you start to get flooded with memories from your childhood. For some reason you start to connect to this person and develop more intense feelings for them.

-Your differences ultimately lead to divorce and you never get into a relationship again
Gen Six - Taurus
Growing up your parent was very unpredictable. They never really showed you how to develop relationships, so you struggled a lot to form connections. What you did understand was food. You loved watching the cooking channel from a very young age. When you found out you could get paid to try new foods all the time, you knew exactly what you wanted to be when you grew up. You dream of living in a big penthouse apartment in the city. You cannot wait to be able to frequent all the food stalls and fancy restaurants downtown. On your birthday you move out immediately as a teenager. With little to no money you move into a scummy studio apartment. The apartment smells, leaks, and is so loud. One day you’re downtown trying out a new food stall and you meet an interesting person. Later to find out they’re living your dream. You ask them out and things move pretty quickly. As you are not to familiar with healthy relationships, you struggle a lot to trust them. You stick around because they have everything to want.

Gen Seven - Libra
Growing up your parent was super critical of you, so you developed a need to control your surroundings to a T. You’re obsessed with aesthetics, everything needs to be cohesive and pleasant to look at. You have perfectly curated your image from your irl fashion to your social bunny presence. As an avid social media user, you’re constantly taking photos of your ootd and your healthy meals. The obsession with aesthetics extends to your friends, you make them all dress in a way that compliments your look.  Every so often you decide to reinvent yourself which means new clothes, new hair, and even new friends. One of your friends hates that and begins to work against you. They are declared your rival. There is nothing that will stop you from becoming the worlds biggest Trend Setter.

Being born into a family of fame, you get a leg up in life. As a kid you were always interested in sports and it was easy to get on whatever team you wanted with your parents influence. The extra attention you got didn’t bother you as a child, but as you got older you started to get angry. The attention become more and more overbearing. The only way you could think of to get away from it all is to travel. As an adventurer you want to go somewhere with a lot of physical activities to manage your anger. While on vacation you fall in love with the beautiful scenery and lifestyle of the sims in Mt Komorebi. You feel like you can finally free yourself from your upbringing and make a name for yourself in the athletic field. You casually date a bunch of sims, but they all seem to only be interested in you because of your family. Until you finally meet a Komorebi local who has no idea of where you came from. Your parents had this undeniable connection and showed you what healthy love looks like. Watching your parents together was something you aspired to have one day. As a child you struggled a lot, you were desperate to grow up causing you to be a bit moody. You didn’t have many friends growing up being way more focused on finding a partner. On your first day of High School you bump into someone in the hallways, love at first sight. The two of you start talking about everything, completely inseparable, and you realize they are the one. Everything you want, they want. Its fate. Upon graduating your partner proposes to you and you both go off to university together. While pregnant with your 4th child you get some upsetting news about your partner. They cheated on you with your housekeeper. You’re then left to decide whether or not you want to forgive and forget.

-Have at least 4 children
Gen Ten - Leo
While your parent was pregnant with you they experience a heavy life changing event. When you were born you got to listen to your 3 older siblings talk about how amazing your parent was. That’s not the experience you got at all being the last born. You try your hardest to get the attention from your parent they way your siblings got it. Nothing you do seems to work, but you will not give up. Everyone tells you that you need to grow up, but you disagree. You can’t get any attention at home, so you sign up for the drama club. Leading you to channel your, what they say “childish”, behavior into performances. You’re a natural and getting the validation you crave. Although, it starts to go to your head a bit… As you get older to start to audition for small gigs, like commercials, they go pretty smoothly. You can’t seem get anyone to take you seriously, but you settle for the gigs because you’re still getting the attention you lacked from childhood. No one you dated ever was able to put up with your behavior, so you end up having a child by yourself.
Aspiration: Serial Romantic

Traits: Self-Absorbed
Lifestyle: None
Colors: Bright Pink, Orange, and Red
-Join the drama club
-Never take any serious acting gigs
-Have an accidental baby with unknown partner
Gen Eleven - Scorpio
Naturally, you grew up very inquisitive. I mean you grew up with only one parent and they have no idea who the other parent is. So you set out trying to figure out who they are and where they are. As you got older you began to develop a keen sense for mysteries. Although, some claim you are your biggest mystery that you have yet to solve. While your parent basked in any attention that came their way, you sat quietly in the background. This was very intentional on your part. Sitting in the background not many people notice you. This allowed you to hone your detective skills. You find manage to locate your other parent and develop a relationship later in life. You manage to do so with your natural abilities and a bit of help via the detective agency. The further you progress in your career the more taxing it becomes. Your mornings are filled with the delicious scent of freshly brewed coffee and before you know it you’re hooked. You love being active and find your self at the gym quiet often, not before coffee of course. Through getting to know your “new” parent you actually find out you’re one in the same. So, of course you quickly become very close.
Aspiration: Body Builder
Skills: Logic 5, Fitness 10, and Charisma 5
Career: Detective

-Buy the observant and gym rat traits with your reward points
-Get a coffee every day and workout on your days off
-Go to active work at least once a week
Gen Twelve - Gemini
Growing up you noticed your parent was constantly questioning everything and everyone. You chose to take a vert different route, take everything at face value. It doesn't have to be that deep. Everyone loves you, you have such an infectious presence. You have such a way to turn any moment into a memorable one. From the glamorous to the intimate events you host, you’ve managed to develop a strong network of people. This allows you to climb that corporate ladder with ease. Some of the few things you’ve kept constant in your life are your friends and career. Do you sometimes make quick decisions with little to no thought? Yeah, but it hasn’t failed you yet. For the most part everyone you have chosen to represent is a bit questionable, but nothing you can't tackle. Until one day you’re faced with the task of representing one of the most undesirable in town. So what they're quick to take whatever they lay their eyes on. So what they’ve broken into an unknown amount homes. It’s fine, you’ve got this.
Aspiration: Friend of the World
Skills: Charisma 10, Writing 5, and Comedy 5
Career: Social Media Public Relations
Traits: Outgoing
Lifestyle: People Person
Colors: Mauve, Periwinkle, and Wisteria
-Buy the incredibly friendly trait with your reward points
-Host a networking event once a month
-Ask to represent the local klepto
Feel free to offer feedback or suggestions to improve the challenge 💕

It’s been a long road to bringing Fire & Flight, the first book in my epic fantasy trilogy, the Heirs of Tenebris, to this point. While I’m super excited about Fire & Flight’s release day on July 19th, I’ve not only been humbled by this process but also overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from my friends and family. As we’re only a couple weeks away from the big day, I wanted to take a look back on the process I went through to write Fire and Flight. I hope that my experience—and the time it took—can encourage others in their writing, no matter how long it may take for your writing to come to life! Without further ado, this what my road to Fire & Flight looked like:
My young adult fantasy novel was born on the spot. I mean that literally, because my Creative Expressions teacher had me write a paragraph à la “stream of conscious,” and the first thing that came to my fingers as I typed, was the haphazard awakening of the girl who would become my protagonist, Nyla. I didn’t have a name yet either. There was only a girl with silver hair and lilac-colored eyes, and a forest.
Rolling with this first paragraph and developing the kingdom that would be called Tenebris, Fire and Flight slowly grew into the novel it is today. It would take years and many revisions to get here, but as the narrative of the Heirs of Tenebris grew, so did my dreams.
During the summer of 2017, I pushed hard to finish my first draft before the next school year. My Creative Expressions teacher showed a great interest in helping me through the editing process, and I can almost guarantee that some of my best pieces of writing advice were stolen from him. I not only finished draft one in August of 2017, but also my first complete read-through. That’s a feeling I’ll never forget, but it was also overwhelming! By the time I was done, all 49,359 words were bleeding in pink corrections (red pens are pretty scarce on my desk!), and my head was spinning.
What happened next? How was I supposed to edit this, especially when there were parts I knew were rushed or needed to be ironed out?
I decided to wait out the summer and shelved Fire & Flight until the school year had started again. In September 2017, my teacher and I were getting ready for the long haul. With both of us working on our respective novels, I learned what’s probably the hardest but most helpful editing tip of all time: rewrite or retype your entire first draft. As you create draft two, you revise and expand what’s already written in draft two, making it better than it was before. Drafts are meant to be an evolution, and so I found myself using draft one more as the outline for what draft two could be because I never did outline Fire & Flight. In doing so, my second draft became everything that draft one wasn’t. My story started to blossom, and I couldn’t wait to see it bloom.
2018 was a hard year to map for me, as it’s drowned in revisions and obsessive periodic read-throughs to make sure I was on track with the goals I’d set. Through this revision process, I realized not only had my style of writing changed throughout draft one as I grew as a writer and learned more techniques, but the perspective had changed too! Frustrated and disenchanted, I pretty much abandoned the progress I’d made and began what I’m going to call draft two-and-a-half.
By June 2019, I’d completed a major overhaul as well as my last check-point read-through of draft two-and-a-half so I could finish it by the end of the summer (spoiler: I didn’t finish by the end of that summer), and move onto the next stage.
When November of 2019 rolled around, I finally had my draft three, and my novel was nearly perfect. I still had some details I wanted to iron out and things that could be tweaked just a little more, but I couldn’t be prouder of how far Fire & Flight had come. From its measly 50,000 words to 127,625 words, all I had left to do was one “final” read-through to fix any remaining issues in early March of 2020.
I deemed Fire & Flight as “officially” finished on March 27th at 128,307 words.
It was around this time that I began looking at the different publishing options and the industry as a whole. While I’d researched literary agents and sent a few queries out, my heart wasn’t entirely in the process. The more I learned and the more I researched, the less compelled I was to pursue traditional publishing. Taking a bit of a break from Fire & Flight and the whole process, I opted to regroup and come up with a plan. It was then that I decided to self-publish Fire & Flight.
There were many reasons I decided to take Fire & Flight’s fate in my own hands, but I won’t get into that here, but know that I couldn’t be happier with this decision and am proud of the lengths I’ve traveled to bring my novel to this point!
From its short-circuited beginnings, Fire & Flight has grown so much from the novel I was writing between classes and in my free time, but I’ve also grown too. It’s been a long road for both of us—novel and author alike—and I can’t thank everyone enough for their overwhelming support throughout this journey. I can’t wait to share Fire and Flight with everyone this summer, or that this is the year I got to hold my book in my hands. And for all my fellow writers out there, I truly hope my experience reminds you that no matter how long it takes to tell your stories, it is never too long! Whatever your process and the time it may take, it’s just the perfect amount of time for it to come to life😉

Severed Bonds
Disclaimer:
So... I'm writing next chapter right now, disscussing with Serirei (That's what I do with them most of the time).
I'm not sure it will work with the rest of the story in his actual form and I need to do a complete overhaul of it but I thought of sharing his draft form. There's always strenght in raw writing that sometimes gets lost in editing.
So yeah... Don't read if you don't want spoilers of Severed Bonds next chapter. But if you're curious about it's actual shape before it gets axed. Here it is!!
Birthdays had never held much meaning for Katsuya when in their monotony the days blended into one another. His thirtieth birthday had been something that had passed him by without any fanfare. Thirty hadn't felt all that different from twenty when all he had done was trade one cage for another.
And yet, that had been the year his life had changed forever.
Katsuya yawned, sitting up on the futon and scratching at his eyelashes. For a moment, he shivered as he noticed the chill seeping through the walls. Temperatures had to have plummeted overnight. The early morning light illuminated the room and reflected off the straw-colored locks of the still sleeping figure beside him. It was testament to how much things had changed that he would no longer need absolute darkness to feel at ease within those four walls.
Taka stirred beside him, seeking the warmth of his body. Katsuya watched him, unmoving in those first hours after dawn. The stillness still felt unnatural in the confines of his completely naked body.
Katsuya stroked his cheek with tentative fingers.
Katsuya had always thought it unreasonable to be called lovemaking when it was just a frantic, irrational act but he had finally understood. Memories of the night before flashed in his mind and spoke to him of the vulnerability of putting oneself in the hands of another. The shame and nervousness of losing his virginity at thirty-two had meant nothing under the complicity of two people who had nothing to hide.
"Why are you already awake?" Taka asked still half asleep. "Another nightmare?"
The scar glowed on his arm, a testament to how strong his Soulmate was. Maybe someday Katsuya would manage to convince him of how much truth there was behind his words.
"I wouldn't call it a nightmare" Katsuya blushed as he remembered where Taka's mouth had been only a few hours before.
"What are you thinking about?" Taka frowned, sitting up in bed and letting the futon fall to barely cover his lap. "It's not like you've never seen me naked before."
"It's not the same, now I know what faces you put on when," Katsuya gestured at him, unable to look at him.
"Pervert. Mm." Taka's hand started up his thigh. "So it was okay, then? Wasn't it disappointing?"
"How could it be?" Katsuya hugged him tightly, completely silencing the insecure song humming in his head. "I don't think I'll be able to think about anything else all day."
"Oh, I guess that's okay then." Silence enveloped them. Taka seemed content to let himself get lost in his arms, enveloped by the smell of sweat and musk. "Better than I expected."
"Did you have your standards that low?" Katsuya jabbed his finger into his side. "What grade would you give me?"
"Idiot!" Taka laughed. "But I don't know, it's not like I had any expectations either. It's just sex but with you it's fine. Everyone talks like it has to be something extraordinary and they always manage to make me feel weird."
Taka rolled over until he was lying in Katsuya's lap. Sex and him had always had a complicated relationship. It wasn't the first time Katsuya wondered if the scar on his arm had anything to do with it.
"Do I seem weird to you?" Taka looked at him expectantly. His melody reflected the hope in his eyes.
"Have we ever been able to think of each other as normal?" Katsuya bent down and gave him a kiss on the forehead. "But thank you for telling me."
"Oh," Taka blushed. "It's what you asked of me, isn't it? To talk things over. It's not like you make it too hard either. And now I feel like a jerk!"

Something that the "write for yourself" crowd either isn't aware of or deliberately ignores is that writing doesn't inherently come with sharing. Authors could easily take them at their word and write for themselves, and leave their fics on their harddrive/in their notenook/wherever they write because it doesn't need to be on a public site for the creators themselves to have access to it. But then the rest of the fandom would cry bloody murder over being deprived of their entertainment because what they actually mean when they say "write for yourself" isn't "write for your personal enjoyment" it's "do the work (that I benefit from) and don't complain."
A-fucking-men Anon.
I'll tell you and everyone else a little story. I didn't post all that much last year, but I actually wrote quite a lot but 95% of it either happened in discords where I wrote for the people there, or sits in my fandom folders. They're in a perfectly fine condition for me, but they need some polishing to be released into the wider world - for one thing I'm ESL so the grammar needs an overhaul for a start - and I'll be honest with you all, I don't really feel like doing it most of the time. It's a whole lot of work for largely no return at all.
Because you're so absolutely right. "Write for yourself" never meant "write for your own enjoyment" because once the writing is done there's a whole lot of editing happening before that is fit to be posted, at least for most of us. And that job? That's never something we do just for us, it's tedious, annoying, and very time consuming.
And I'm seeing more and more writers feel like I do and post less or just stop, and I know of more than one new writer who don't feel like posting their things in public at all because they know they won't get any response. So their writing is also in private and it's an open question if any of them will ever post anything publicly. Even before I saw the numbers on that post with almost 75% of fic on AO3 having 5 or fewer reader comments I knew numbers was bad and couldn't in good conscience tell them that things would be fine.
Now that I have seen them I'll be honest with you all. I think fandom is on a self-destruct course. It simply isn't a sustainable system to expect writers to keep posting things when the overwhelming probability is that it will get 0 attention.
As someone put it in the comments of that post, fan works - fic, art, gifs, ect - are gifts, gifts we give to fandom. But for how long are people willing to keep giving gifts when the ones receiving them can't be bothered to spend even two seconds saying thank you? It's a battle fo attrition, and until fandom gets its head out of its ass and loses the mindset of "we don't owe authors anything!" then it cannot be reversed. The question is if fandom is willing to lose that mindset before the battle is completely lost.

Journey to a New Lifestyle
Two years ago, I barely recognized the person staring back at me in the mirror. I was overweight, unhealthy, and constantly fatigued. But today, the reflection I see is vastly different. The journey I undertook was transformative, taking me from a state of being unfit to feeling unstoppable.
It all began with a decision, a choice to change my life for the better. I embarked on a fitness retreat that promised a blend of adventure, fun, and most importantly, a chance to kickstart a healthier lifestyle. Nestled in the stunning landscapes of Phuket, Thailand, this retreat wasn’t just a getaway; it was a game-changer.
The allure of this fitness retreat was in its multifaceted approach. The core was the world’s most renowned martial arts and fitness training camp. From Yoga to Fitness, Muay Thai to MMA, BJJ to Kickboxing, the options were diverse. For a fitness novice like me, the prospect seemed daunting at first. But the inclusive nature of the camp meant there was something for everyone, irrespective of their expertise level.
Beyond the training, the accommodation adjacent to the camp was a sanctuary of comfort. It provided the respite needed to recharge after intense workout sessions. The blend of challenging physical activity and moments of relaxation became the cornerstone of this transformative journey.
Phuket wasn’t just a backdrop; it was an integral part of this experience. Exploring the island’s beauty, immersing in its culture, savoring its cuisine, and embracing the awe-inspiring nature of Thailand became an intrinsic part of this metamorphosis. From the serene beaches to vibrant markets, from ancient temples to thrilling nightlife, every aspect of Phuket added a new layer to this journey.
One might wonder, how did a fitness retreat lead to a complete lifestyle overhaul? The answer lies in the ripple effect of newfound habits. What I learned during those intense yet gratifying days in Phuket didn’t stay confined to that period. It became the foundation of a sustainable, healthier lifestyle.
The journey of transformation wasn’t easy. It took dedication, perseverance, and a shift in mindset. But the tools acquired in Phuket — both in terms of fitness and mental resilience — equipped me to continue this path back home.
The routine I developed during the retreat, blending exercise and balanced nutrition, became a part of my daily life. It’s been the reason I’ve managed to not only keep the weight off but also feel healthier, fitter, and more energetic than ever before.
Reflecting on this journey, it’s not just about shedding pounds or gaining muscle; it’s about the mental and emotional empowerment that comes with achieving personal milestones. It’s about rediscovering the joy of an active, healthy lifestyle and the confidence that accompanies it.
This transformative journey wasn’t just about physical fitness; it was about finding a new zest for life. The memories of those days in Phuket serve as a constant reminder of the strength and determination residing within me.
To anyone seeking a change, I can’t recommend a fitness retreat like the one in Phuket enough. It’s not just a vacation; it’s a life-altering experience. The adventure, the challenges, and the rewards make it an unforgettable chapter in one’s life story.
My journey might have begun in Phuket, but it continues every day in my commitment to a healthier, more fulfilling life. So, unleash your inner warrior, wherever you are, and watch as your life transforms into something remarkable.
Don’t miss the chance to discover the strength within you. It’s a journey worth taking.

i think raya dragon is less disney sameface and more friendship is magic ponyfication
what i think is MUCH funnier is how the design has completely changed from the first design we got in 2019, barely a year and a half ago!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
how much of this film have they completely overhauled since then!!!!! like the circumstances under which this film was developed, including but not limited to 1) the ousting of john lasseter 2) the resulting creative/corporate shakeup at disney appointing jennifer lee as chief creative officer and 3) having to switch to working remotely in 2020/21, are so so tasty and unfathomable. this film is gonna be such a fucking trainwreckkkkk <3333
#raya and the last dragon#disney#it's so so so funny looking into the development hell at disney nowadays#i think it's the case with all 3d animation studios now#like because you spend the first couple years building sets and models and you have different departments working on different sequences at#the same time#so if you completely overhaul the story like a year or two before it's meant to be in cinemas#you physically CAN rework the scenes you have and just abuse your workers with ridiculous crunch until it's finished#like at this point they just have a general jist of the look and shape of the film#so they can have the modellers and lighting department and layout artists and whoever else working on shit in the meantime before you even#have to touch animating#so they can leave the actual story in limbo til the last minute#it sounds so fucking exhausting and infuriating lol#like zootopia apparently had the fox as the main character until a YEAR before it's release!!!#when disney did a screening at pixar and i think it was pete docter who advised them to make the rabbit the main character#so that we're introduced to zootopia as a place to be redeemed as opposed to left behind#so that's a complete fucking reworking of the film they had to do in a YEAR it sounds so awful#and couldve been fixed if they just gave the writers and artists enough time to figure that basic storytelling choice out at the start!#anyway it's all very juicy and disney's development hell is the most interesting shit to come out of their animation studio in years#o#media thots

Mudkip Cedar is so beautiful, isn't she? ;;w;; Such wonderful, bright colors. Was in the mood to draw Cedar and Nauki's baby forms today, feeling a little nostalgic! So! Some interesting news! Despite The Things We Have not being completed yet (14 pages left to render!), I’ve started to draw Finding Your Roots again! I think after an entire summer of working on the rabbit comic, I got super burnt out? So, I got in the mood to draw some FYR instead, and since I got back to working on it a couple weeks ago, I’ve finished eleven pages! I’m really proud of myself for how easily I’ve jumped back into it, and I’m currently working on drawing the next big battle. >:3 It’s coming out great so far and I’m super excited.
FYR’s third birthday came and went in July. It passed on July 10, specifically, that day three years ago is when I finished the first page of FYR. It was before I even planned on ever releasing the comic publicly. I wasn’t even quite sure whether I wanted to commit to making a Nuzlocke comic or not! And even once I started releasing it, I always had these fears and anxieties over the project. FYR is going to be long, guys. It’s going to be long. We’re seven chapters in and have around 23 to go. Book 2 will probably take me another couple of years to finish, and at that point? The comic might just be halfway done. We’ve got four books to go, book 3 is looking like it’s going to be long. I loved the project so much that the thought of burning out and never finishing it, a fate shared by so many comic artists, was horrifying. It would keep me up at night. I’ve broken into tears from the stress of it. Wooooof, right?
But recently, thankfully… that changed.
I was chatting with my friend @zeropro, who somehow found the right words to encourage me not to view FYR as a goal, but rather a journey. Zero is a really good friend of mine, one of the best friends I’ve ever had in fact, and she would always sit with me and listen when I would vent about the stress of finishing FYR. The last time I vented about it, complaining about how I might be working on this project into my 30s (I’m currently 22), she said this:
“But what’s wrong with working on it late into your thirties, it can just be this constant fun little project that you dip into, a documentation of your growth through your whole artist career. Wouldn’t that be nice? Like a rabbit you can take care of for a long time. Imagine being the author of One Piece or Dragonball, where it’s not about finishing it but keeping it going for as long as people will read it. Isn’t it nice that FYR will at least have an end?
“Comics like TTWH and LL, they are meant to be completed, but FYR and JBN, these projects are here to grow with us, to keep us company through hard times. What’s the rush? I like to think your art style might change even further as FYR goes on! And who knows where you'll take it!
“Every day you get to draw another page is another day you get to draw another page, not one page more of a thousand. Every day as you draw one more page you will end up there, but that’s not the point, it’s what you get to do now.”
And those words… I’m happy to say, they solved the problem!
It’s not that I have to work on FYR for another ten years or so. It’s that I GET to work on FYR for another ten years or so! FYR has been such a stable, comforting presence in my life these past three years, and while I’m excited to some day see it completed, I’m happy to welcome it in my life for a long time coming. I’m the sort of person who is quite terrified of change. The unknown scares me a lot; I’m not good at handling an unknown future where bad things could happen and I have no way to predict or stop it. But FYR will always be around for me. It’ll be a pet I get to take care of for a long time who can never succumb to old age. It’ll be a friend I can trust to be always be around, because I’m the one who controls it! And if I ever want to put it aside for a while to work on other projects, like I did with TTWH, I’m allowed to do that too! Doesn’t matter if it takes me a year or two longer to finish FYR cause I was working on other stuff. FYR will always be around for me, and for you!
I’ve been doing a lot of work on planning future FYR chapters as well. I basically realized that a lot of my plans for the plot’s future, uhhhh, kinda sucked? They weren’t incredibly original, were too plot-focused, and didn’t leave a lot of room for the characters to explore themselves and grow naturally as people. Character focused stories are always better than plot-focused ones!!! So I’m overhauling a lot of my plans for FYR right now, doing some outlining for late Book 2 and Book 3, and restructuring FYR to be a story much more focused on character development and themes. We’re gonna spend less time chasing down villains and more time exploring the characters, their feelings, growth, and identities. I think the changes are going to make FYR a really spectacular experience, a comic that’s incredibly unique. I’m excited to share it with you.
I’m incredibly proud to be the author of FYR. I’m proud to be able to make a comic that’s made so many other people happy. We’ve laughed together, cried together, and we’re telling this story together. I’m not going anywhere. So I hope you’ll stick around, too!
Because this comic is amazing. And it’s only ever going to get even better.

Okay, so I think I’ve got a solid timeline of events for villain!Katsuki
Katsuki leaves UA just before the provisional license exam, he’s at the point where he no longer things the hero system can be fixed without outside intervention. He’s done with how the media acts, he’s done with the blame being shifted to victims based on their quirks, and he’s done with the lies he’s been fed all his life.
Prior to this he started researching and planning what actual change would look like and require.
He meets up with Dabi, who’d only let the rest of the league know about the bet a few days prior. He was curious if Katsuki would keep his word or not. Dabi prods Katsuki gently, saying he knew the kid took honestly seriously but he’s still kinda surprised to see him go this far over a bet. Katsuki replies explaining it’s more than the bet. He talks about what he’s seen, and the failure of hero society to change. It’s more than enough to convince Dabi.
Dabi brings him to a secure location, then relays information to Shigaraki. Shigaraki is hesitant, he’s surprised Katsuki came back to them, but when Katsuki explains his side of things, and with Dabi vouching for him, Shigaraki decides to let him in. He can understand what it’s like to fall for hero society. He did for awhile too. Katsuki just needed more time on his own to realize that.
There’s an introduction period, the league is still figuring themselves out and most of them are hesitant to trust Katsuki. It’s about a week before he’s properly reintroduced to everyone and gets the sense that they’re not headed in any particular direction.
After that week, Katsuki decides “fuck that, I’m going to do shit, y'all are coming along” and since Shigaraki doesn’t really have anything better in mind, he decides to go along with Katsuki’s plans.
UA started panicking as soon as they realized Katsuki was gone, but nobody really knows what happened to him yet. Since he took all his stuff with him, all signs point to him having run away.
Izuku refuses to believe that, and most of the class holds out hope for awhile, but as no evidence turns up, more of them start to think it might be true and start discovering the amount of harassment and guilt he was facing.
There’s about a month and a half period in which Katsuki focuses on getting the league in shape. During this period, they do a forcible take over of the Shie Hassaikai.
Overhaul is killed, Eri goes under Katsuki’s care, and the league is established as a much more powerful force.
The Hero Commission is starting to get nervous, but not overly so. Not yet.
After this month and a half, Katsuki makes his first public appearance as a villain.
He’s in an updated version of his costume, most of it has stayed the same, but he’s added what looks like muzzle to the costume that covers his mouth. The muzzle actually functions as face shield/oxygen system so he can move at much faster speeds safely.
Katsuki’s villain debut is a full scale attack by the league on the Hero Commission directly. An event meant that the Hero Commission had gathered in a relatively accessible location, and the villains take advantage.
Importantly, Katsuki is enforcing a policy of limiting needless harm or deaths, because it ruins their message. The league reluctantly agrees, so they’re being a bit more careful than they were before. However, they’ve still got a hit list for this party.
The list consists of officials who they have confirmation deliberately manipulated polices or actions of heroes at the cost of people’s lives, all for some private gain. They do a lot of damage, and manage to kill 7 people on their list.
Katsuki’s first kill happens here. Previously, he’d managed to defeat Overhaul, but wasn’t quite able to kill him. He just wasn’t ready.
Shigaraki took care of it for him, and told him it was fine if he needed time to learn to kill. He was kind and understanding about it in a way that was genuinely weird to Katsuki. Not only because this was all about murder, but it was the first time in his life that he failed and an adult supported him rather than punishing him for his mistake.
At this event, one of the people he takes down tries to appeal to him by offering him a position as a hero to save themselves, and that pushes him over the line. He ends it quickly.
The league escape afterwards, and footage plus eyewitnesses confirm Katsuki was there, and he didn’t say a word to anyone he attacked.
UA, the Hero Commission, and the media collectively assume / sell the story of him having been brainwashed. It’s the only thing that doesn’t make them look horrible.
Aizawa has been weighed down by a lot of guilt during all of this. He should’ve done more, should’ve reached out, but he’d been waiting for Katsuki to come to him. He’s tried to find Katsuki, but Katsuki has purposefully avoided facing him in battle as Aizawa is one of the few people he doesn’t feel like he could hurt or allow one of the other villains to hurt.
The attacks start getting frequent over the course of another month, primarily targeting the people behind the scenes of the heroic’s system, with a lot of other targets of corruption along the way.
On his third attack, Katsuki has his first run in with Izuku, the first of any of his classmates to face him in battle.
Katsuki refuses to speak a word to him, despite the fact Izuku heard him giving directions to Toga, and the two clash.
Katsuki manages to pull ahead in their fight, but he’s distracted from their fight by someone caught in the crossfire. He diverts course to protect them. Izuku was so hyperfocused on Katsuki he didn’t notice the person. It throws him off enough that Katsuki is able to win their fight complete his goal.
After their clash, Izuku’s finally realized Katsuki isn’t brainwashed. Given what happened, he can only assume it really is Kacchan making all these choices, which leads him to reflect on why.
Between slowly uncovering what Katsuki was suffering through, and watching Katsuki’s actions and their very real impact, Izuku finds himself struggling with the idea of heroes as well. Most of Class 1-A and society as a whole really are.
Shouto & Izuku talk, and Izuku confirms that it really is Katsuki. Not a brainwashed version of him.
At the end of their conversation, Shouto assumes that because it’s really Katsuki, they’re gonna go join him. He defects, and is a bit surprised when Izuku doesn’t follow him right away.
Dabi almost has a heart attack over this, but he can’t really judge.
Shouto is accepted into the league after he and Katsuki talk and he apologizes for not having done anything. Katsuki doesn’t blame him for it, as he understands Shouto had no real sense of what was okay.
Eri gains a new older brother, and she could not be more delighted.
During this period, after the first attack, Hawks was sent in to infiltrate the league. Katsuki can smell the commission on him from a mile away, but tells Dabi to kind of let Hawks in anyways.
The league begins slowly working Hawks out of the Commissions control, before finally after about three months, Hawks realizes how shitty they are and defects properly.
A big part of this happens after Hawks finally comes to terms with the fact that Katsuki isn’t brainwashed, and after Hawks meets Eri and realizes how happy and safe she is with her new family vs how he felt at that age with the Commission.
By the end of that three months, a number of other class 1-A kids and a few kids from 1-B have dropped out of the hero course, or in some cases, UA entirely. The public at large has started to become more disconnected from the hero system as they start to see some of it’s major flaws. The Commission comes under more and more questioning and is seriously losing power.
During this same time, you’d expect to see an increase in crime, but you actually see the opposite.
Katsuki has been very careful and forged an alliance with the MLA such that they’ve been able to crack down on certain types of crime (domestic violence, quirk kidnappings, sexual assaults, etc) while also steadily funneling money into getting social services in theses areas.
This means that you start to see less crime, people feeling safer and more secure, even as the hero commission and system is crumbling.
All of this comes together after a year or two of solid in the form of the government submitting to a major reform driven by figure heads planted by the MLA, but only after the league manages to eliminate the last key figures standing in their way.
Since so many heroes have either fallen from grace, stepped back from the system, or been killed in certain cases, Izuku ended up as an unwilling symbol of peace due to his connection to Katsuki.
Izuku is tasked by what’s left of the heroics system with stopping Katsuki from killing the final major figure whose all that’s standing in the way of the reform.
Izuku, in the end, makes the active choice to step aside, giving Katsuki the key he was given to the room so Katsuki can get to the person to kill them.
Izuku finally decided that he’s had enough of this too, and he’s done defending a broken system based on ingrained ideals that don’t add up.
Aizawa is watching inside the room up in the rafters, he’s stayed a hero of sorts but still functions like he did before.
Inside the room, Aizawa had the chance to cancel Katsuki’s quirk and stop him from killing the person. Instead, he chose to close his eyes and let Katsuki go through with it.
Katsuki looks up to where Aizawa is once it’s done, and Aizawa realizes he knew he was there the entire time. He hops down out into the open and speaks plainly as he always did.
“I’m sorry.” Is all he can really say. There’s so much he’s sorry for. For not speaking up. For letting Katsuki be put through so much. For letting him be driven to this.
Katsuki looks at him for a long, long moment, before he finally looks away and shrugs his shoulders. For the very first time in years, he speaks to a hero. To the only hero who ever tried for him, even if it wasn’t enough.
“S'okay. The problem was bigger than you every could’ve fixed.”
“I should’ve tried. I should’ve done more.”
Again, Katsuki needs a moment to consider that.
“Yeah. Probably.”
There’s silence for a few moments, and then Katsuki’s radio crackles to life. Dabi’s calling him back.
They share one more glance, and Katsuki turns on his heel and walks out.
Aizawa watches him go. There’s nothing else for him to do. His right to change this story ended when he failed to speak up all those years ago.

Only Temporary: Sebastian Tate
Hello. I was completely blown away by the positive response I got on the first piece of Jaime’s story (title under construction). Thank you to everyone who had a kind word to say about it! You made me really happy I made the mildly frightening choice to post.
In the interest of acclimating to the no-rules, freedom-to-post-out-of-order structure of this community, I wanted to introduce a new piece of the puzzle this time, with a new character that will come into play later.
Also, this piece goes into a little bit of the details, but for frame of reference on the BBU-adjacent thing: this story takes place in a not-so-distant future of the BBU, where WRU has undergone some changes. I look forward to exploring this world building more as I go.
Anyway, I’m rambling again. Thanks for reading. Here it is:
WARNINGS: General BBU warnings, talk of institutionalized slavery, classism, and general terribleness of large corporations. Referenced past homophobia and rough parental relationships, briefly implied/referenced non-con.
When Sebastian reflects on the day he graduated from med school, a sort of emptiness is the memory that first bobs to the surface. Among the cheers and camera flashes in the crowd, white coats and proud smiles, what Sebastian recalls most vividly from that day is looking out into the sea of parents and families and people there to support their loved ones on one of the biggest days of their lives, and not seeing a single person that had come for him.
What should have been one of the happiest moments of his life had been quickly overshadowed by the sinking feeling that none of it mattered as much as it would have if he had someone to share it with. Like there was something so fundamentally wrong with his life, that even something as objectively good and right and decent as becoming a doctor could be dulled over into a feeling of nothingness.
Perhaps, he thinks in hindsight, that moment had been foreshadowing for the following months ahead of him.
Watching rejection after rejection pour in from his top residency programs had felt like nothing short of his own personalized nightmare. He had spent several nights in a row on the phone with Alex, his undergrad roommate and only friend, clamoring back from the edge of many a panic attack, spiraling into all-out existential dread about the future and the past and what all of it meant for him if he couldn’t land an internship, let alone a real job out of school. To his credit, Alex never gave up hope in his friend. Or at least, he did a decent job hiding it if he did. Which was probably exactly what Sebastian needed to get through that particularly dark time in his life, and a good reminder of what a solid friend he had. Even if it was a party of two.
Unfortunately, Sebastian did not have the same faith in himself.
He was able to keep up some facade of optimism as his top five were picked off one by one. Telling himself, despite his devastation, that they were a pretty far reach, anyway. Even with good academic standing, it was famously no walk in the park to land yourself at John Hopkins or Mayo as a first-year. He even maintained a brave face as his first few safety programs reached capacity and moved forward without his name on the roster.
It wasn’t until he received his final rejection letter from some internal medicine place in Bumfuck, Idaho that he felt himself slip into dangerous territory. Sebastian knew himself well enough to know his own depressive patterns by then, and he knew it was only exponential decay from there.
Rock bottom came, as it did, in the wee hours of the night, after a full bottle of wine. Alone in his small apartment, surrounded by half-packed boxes with no destination, Sebastian found himself sprawled out on the floor with his laptop hot against his thighs. He couldn’t have explained why he opted for a privacy browser, but something about it allowed him to justify the words that he typed into the search bar.
It was a new low, and one he had sworn to himself he would never stoop to. Yet there he was.
He gave himself a moment to reconsider, to back out of what was undoubtedly a morally-gray train wreck waiting to happen as his thumb hovered over the enter key. And then the alcohol decided to override his moral compass.
Facility Care is the open secret of the medical profession. It comes with its fair share of stigma, and rightfully so, but it is notoriously easy to break into and pays a decent wage.
There are two types of people who end up stooping to that kind of employment. More often than not, it consists of doctors and nurses who had their licenses revoked or suspended somewhere along the line and needed a way back in. As far as Sebastian understood, they aren’t terribly ridgid about the particulars of each circumstance. After all, in the eyes of the law, the patients they would be treating are a price tag away from being entirely expendable.
The other percentage of Facility Care workers, and the reason Sebastian found himself staring at his too-bright computer screen with a sinking feeling of dread that night, are young medical graduates who find themselves in a tough spot. It isn’t difficult to spell out the logic behind that one when you open the WRU CAREERS tab on the home page and see the bright white words printed across the top of the screen:
LOAN FORGIVENESS.
It is shamelessly predatory and aggressively capitalistic, but Sebastian supposes that particular exploitation is pretty far down on the list of transgressions for an institution of legalized slavery. A few broke and hopeless medical students were hardly going to keep the Powers That Be up at night when they were able to rest easy under the weight of hundreds of thousands of stolen lives.
The whole thing is part of the massive PR overhaul the company did a few years back. In a world that was slowly inching toward civil activism and with the accessibility of platforms like social media to hold them accountable, WRU had to adapt to survive. Adaptation, in this case, took the form of changing the barest of minimums in order to keep themselves above board — to the public eye, anyway. Anyone who dares to take a closer look at the policy changes can see that it’s bullshit.
Changing ownership conditions to a rent-by-contract basis isn’t the humanitarian move they try to paint it as. In the end, it probably just equals out to more money in the company’s pocket when they can get more return on their “investments,” and a larger chance of exploitation for the people being moved around.
Getting rid of the Romantic division is an entirely meaningless gesture when they are still loaning out human beings with no legal rights and the inability to say “no.”
And offering an open job market with good wages and healthcare options to lower class individuals is a pretty convenient way to mute the backlash.
Essentially, you can tie a system of slavery and abuse up in a bow and make it pretty on the outside, but at the end of the day, it’s still fucking slavery.
Not that he has any room to criticize now. Now that he’s one of them.
In the end, Seb tries to justify his decision a few different ways. He is, after all, more or less a young man alone in the world. The odds are stacked against him and have been for a while. With only his own two legs to stand on, the only force stronger than his internal ambition is his instinct for survival, and he’s been running on those fumes for longer than he can count.
He had lasted less than two months under his parents’ roof after he came out of the closet at eighteen. It wasn’t exactly a surprise for anyone involved; Sebastian’s parents had known about (and subsequently bottled) his… urges… since he was in high school. Probably before that, if he is being honest with himself. And Sebastian, for his part, had spent the better part of his teenage years mentally preparing for the inevitable. He can recall long, late nights he had spent crying into his pillow and the perfectly-scripted ‘coming out’ speeches he recited to his mirror when he was one-hundred percent sure his parents were asleep.
Of course, none of the preparation had been anywhere near adequate when he actually found himself wilting beneath the heat of his father’s glare, the weight of his mother’s grief.
But. He had recovered. That is the point he tries to remember when the memories sting fresh beneath his skin, even all these years later. He has more-than proven himself to be a survivor. He has worked harder than anyone he knows for every scholarship, every grant, every dollar to put himself through school. Sacrificed nights out and real relationships for night shifts at shitty diners and long weekends cramming for exams. It hadn’t been easy, but he considers it the price he had to pay for his independence. For freedom, to live the life as the person he is meant to be, despite his unfortunate odds. He spent years telling himself it would be worth it. That one day, his hard work would pay off.
He can’t stop now.
Sebastian doesn’t have the luxury of taking time off to reroute when his navigation has gone amiss. He is walking the precarious line of rapidly accruing interest and student loans and a dwindling savings account, and there is no safety net below him.
Beggars can’t be choosers, and as it turns out, beggars sometimes have to compromise their moral integrity in order to survive.
It’s only temporary.
That is the mantra that gets him through the (half-drunken) application process and the (disturbingly lax) interview process. It is a job. One job. In the medical field, though the details are up for debate, and it is real-life money for rent and food and a savings that will hopefully be sizable enough to get him where he really wanted to be. Which is… really, anywhere else.
He can do ‘temporary.’ And perhaps, some misguided part of him thinks he can do some genuine good from the inside, too. ‘Be the change you want to see’ and all that.
It is a far jump from the floor of his apartment, sloshed and exhausted and desperate, to the cold, sharp reality of walking into his place of employment on his first day of work. Ironically, it feels a lot like an echo of the emptiness from his graduation day.
‘Sterile’ doesn’t quite cover it. ‘Sterile’ is the expectation of any well-respected medical establishment, but the inside of the facility walls has been wiped clean of far more than bacteria and germs. It is completely devoid of humanity. The long corridors that connect the medical wing to the general ward are windowless and dimly lit by flickering fluorescent panels that had make his head pound for the entirety of his first week.
He is given an office, though it is a term he, himself, might use loosely, as it is more akin to what was probably a storage closet before the old prison had been converted into the state’s training headquarters. It leaves him just enough space for a small desk and two chairs. On his first day, he asks if it is okay to bring in some personal items to spruce the place up. The older, balding doctor who had been assigned to show him around merely shrugs, and Sebastian decides to take that as a yes.
The small, pink-framed photo of a six-year-old Sebastian Tate in his grandfather’s white coat and an old-school stethoscope around his neck is hardly enough to make the place cozy from the corner of his desk, but it’s a good enough reminder of why he has to make this work.
‘It’s only temporary.’
‘Be the change you want to see.’
He will do his best.

Wikipedia troubles, or “Father Enlil, (...) don't let your precious metal be alloyed there with the dirt of the underworld“
clarification regarding my post about troubles with a certain site i’ve been contributing to a lot for the past few months. To preface this with a mythical metaphor: in Inanna’s Descent, when Ninshubur pleads with the other gods to save Inanna, she uses the formula “don't let anyone kill your daughter in the underworld. Don't let your precious metal be alloyed there with the dirt of the underworld. Don't let your precious lapis lazuli be split there with the mason's stone. Don't let your boxwood be chopped up there with the carpenter's wood.” Currently this is what is happening to the Inanna article, I am afraid.
So, long story short, as most of you probably have noticed I am contributing relatively often to wikipedia as of late, starting with the creation of a Matara-jin article a few months ago. Among other things I wrote, rewrote or at least significantly improved the following:
articles about Mesopotamian medicine goddesses:
Ninkarrak from the western frontier, Nintinugga, who was associated with funerary offerings, Ninisina, who took over Inanna's gimmick in Isin, Bau, who became a healing goddess by chance, Gula, who eclipsed her peers - as expected from someone named “the great” articles about Inanna's courtiers and associated goddesses:
Ninshubur, her sidekick (my best work overall imo, the one article I wrote which I think fully deserves the “good” badge but I am not vain enough to apply myself), Ninegal, a goddess turned into her title, Nanaya, just the horny part distilled (bought a book just for this one!), Irnina, inexplicably cthtonic personified victory
articles about Mesopotamian gods too insignificant for anyone else to care about them:
Tishpak, a god so foreign nobody knows where he came from, Sebitti, seven warlike brothers, Enmesharra, Enlil's evil uncle, Urash, not the earth goddess – there are two... Urashes, Ningishzida, Dumuzi but with a snake gimmick, Zababa, a war god who's NOT Nergal, Ninimma, Enlil's court scribe, Gatumdag, popular as ersatz mom among kings of Lagash, Manzat, the rainbow
articles about Mesopotamian goddesses whose main trait was being someone's wife: Marduk's wife Sarpanit, Adad's wife Shala, Shamash's wife Aya
articles about Hurrian gods: Alalu, primordial vanquished king of gods, Kumarbi, his son, divine Saturday morning cartoon villain, Ninatta and Kulitta, a pair of divine musicians who always appeared together, Allani, oddly joyful queen of the dead, Šauška, who was so firmly genderfluid there's two of them in the most famous image of the Hurrian pantheon, Lelluri, a mountain goddess, Kubaba, who isn't Cybele, Goddess of the Night, who has no proper name despite being a case study in important religious rituals, Belet Nagar, who was like Ashur before Ashur got popular, Nupatik, who was important but we don't know why
articles about Eblaite gods: Ishara, “independent lady of love associated with scorpion and cannabis” popular everywhere where she went, Aštabi, a war god who really wanted to be like the weather god, Hadabal, who used to be famous but vanished out of blue, Kura, whose mask had to be renewed each year, Adamma, who left her husband to hang out with Kubaba
articles about Elamite gods: Pinikir, sort of like a bootleg Ishtar and an international sensation, Jabru, who exists only in Mesopotamian texts about Elam, Humban, mandate of heaven personified, Ruhurater, oddly obscure creator of mankind, Inshushinak, the underworld judge and his Akkadian helpers Lagamar and Ishmekarab, and Simut, the “strange star”
articles which were borderline unusable before due to low quality of sources:
Astarte, who was much more than vintage Bible scholars might lead you to believe (but not a fertility goddess), Dagan, who wasn't a fishman, Qetesh whose existence proves that Egyptians were fond of making ocs for their favorite foreign franchises
assorted articles about general topics pertaining to Mesopotamia:
Sukkal,  Hurrian religion (ongoing project), List of Elamite gods; also a much needed overhaul of List of Mesopotamian deities (ongoing project)
and, last but not least, a solid chunk of the Inanna article.
Two guiding principles of these ventures were the following:
people who cannot access academic resources or don't know how to use them and as a result rely on wikipedia aren't any less deserving of receiving up to date, credible information
Wikipedia's mode of operation isn't flawed in itself and the only problem is lack of will to edit it
I think I did a pretty good job at these two things, honestly. I made sure to rely on rigorous, credible, and, if possible, easy to understand sources, and removed the horrors which sometimes were hidden in bibliographies: a book written by a hate preacher who believed Bush didn't start enough wars; 1930s race science; what I can only describe as a hybrid of Woman's Encyclopedia and a bdsm manual; a fringe book asserting that Minoan palaces were graveyards and that Egyptians only learned mummification from superior Minoans; etc. Of course, it’s a thankless job, but as long as I could make the site more credible undisturbed, that’s fine by me. I even got some help in a few cases, most notably that of the god list, indicating that the work was on some level appreciated. The only problem I've encountered prior to today came from editing the Ereshkigal article – I've removed the claim the Burney relief depicts “Lilith”; this edit was however undone. I left a message on the editor's page, complete with links to articles about the Burney relief AND about the possible Mesopotamian forerunners of Lilith (who are undeniably not depicted on the Burney relief). They're responded rather dismissively to it, and asserted that even if unproven, a connection existed, so I pretty quickly gave up, as they relied on sources which were outdated or fringe. I focused on fixing two long, important articles instead: the god list, and the Inanna article. Some parts of it were alright, but there was much work needed: fringe theories trying to assign greater antiquity to relatively late myths, and frankly insane hyperdiffusionism, had a prominent place in the article, while well attested association between Inanna and similar deities from cultures closely associated with Mesopotamia wasn't, much of the info was outdated, scandalous hot takes about Dumuzi's treatment were all over the place, the section on Inanna's descent favored Jungian confabulations over credible research, etc. My progress on fixing that had been slow and steady. However, today the aforementioned person intervened when, in between editing the Inanna article and the god list, I reverted a dumb, brief , unsourced edit – made by a third party - which asserted that Inanna's descent is “similar to Persephone” which it isn't – if anything is similar to Persephone in Mesopotamian mythology it's Nergal and Ereshkigal. They pretty clearly didn't take it well: not only the unfounded speculation went back up, but they also added a “source” affirming it, from a controversial -medical- author, not an Assyriologist. They also added Persephone to the list of Inanna equivalents in the infobox, removing any credibility whatsoever from it. The author of the claim this is all about relied on sources so antiquated that they interpreted Inanna's sexual character as her being a child-snatching boogeyman. Inanna's primary connection to boogeymen is that she was invoked, alongside Nanaya whose sexual connection is even more blatant, to -ward off- child-snatching boogeyman Lamashtu (whose character was not sexual, because sumerians and akkadians weren't victorian aristrocrats and weren't paranoically afraid of sex - and why would a demon representing death in infancy be sexual in nature, anyway?). Simply put, the book in mention is worthless as a source. Of course, I reverted that; when it went back up (despite a justification being included in my reversal) I edited the Inanna article to remove this outlandish claim (you have a limited number of possible reversions per day for some arcane reason), also adding other information about Inanna I had prepared: a few tidbits on Assyrian royal inscriptions which involved the warlike and erotic aspects at once, suggesting that transgressors should lose both potency and bravery in battle, some info on love poetry about her and Dumuzi, that sort of stuff. The weird person reverted my edit – removing valuable info – and reinstated the claim. For a moment I lost my cool and reverted this edit, which sadly put me in the reversion overuse danger zone, but which was a necessary sacrifice to save the credibility of article I put weeks of work into. See the edit history here. As you can guess HaniwaEnthusiast is me. I left messages critical of this decision on the talk page of the article and on the talk page of the outlandish editor. Sadly, they responded rather rudely, and basically declared Wikipedia isn't meant to be credible, and that favoring academic sources over random crap is an “ivory tower” approach and should be discouraged; they also insulted me but that's much less relevant and much less hurtful than their desire to spread lies. If you ask me it's more of an ivory tower attitude to say people who cannot access or don't know how to use academic sources do not deserve equally credible info and need to be at the mercy of weird wikipedia editors. What's the main problem here, though? That person is a mod. Not a random user. They have 16 years of Wikipedia experience. They spread fringe, pop-spiritual claims about Lilith and the like, so I assume they have an ulterior religious agenda of some sort, which they seem to actively encourage judging from these ventures. I'm not sure if the Inanna article is a lost cause yet but I do think the weird addition of Persephone they made is a step into some hellish direction, and I am entirely certain I cannot win this conflict. Simply put, I think that if this is the sort of staff the site has, this is a lost cause. I am not sure if I will go back to editing.

Soulmate AU
Before you meet your soulmate you have to deal with a chibi version of them before actually meeting them. So can he handle it?
Kai's point of view since you guys wanted
Reader's view
Tumblr media
Soulmates... a mere distraction and useless thing that appeared on the humanity. Seing thise with disgusting little versions of other persons on their shoulder or just howering over their head just gave him the nerves.
Ever since he turned 18, he tried to not think about it much... his chibi didn't appeared, and probably never would... Pops and Kurono always gave him as younger the bullshit of "be patient" or "Those things take time."
He didn't believed that neither want it. He didn't needed a stupid sick person to distract him from his mission... that's what he told himself.
One day, working he heard a crash and immediately sighed in annoyance. It wasn't a good day for him and he wasn't on the mood to atture anyone. Almost throwing his pen down, he got up with a grunt and went in search of where the noise went only to find the living room in complete chaos as Mimic, Nemoto and Setsuno holded weapons while looking at the ground.
"What the hell..?" He muttered before Setsuno shouted an "THERE! KILL IT!" before the three man started to stab, shot the ground as little squeak's echoed in the room.
He was about to scold everyone on that room before he almost shouted when he felt the reason of their misbehaviour bump into his leg. Looking down, glove already discarded, he saw a what was supposed to be a tiny creature, eyes shinning a vibrant (E/c) color while looking up at him while adjusting their (H/c) hair.
"What the-?" He cringed and hissed when the creature hugged his ankle and went to kill it before a elder hand grabbed on his wrist. The owner demanding that everyone excluding Chisaki left the room.
"Pops with all due respect-"
"My boy, after years you're really going to kill your soulmate?" The elder spoke with a frown as Chisaki tried to not widen his eyes. Pops crouched down and gently cupped the chibi in his hands and brought up for him and Kai to see more closely.
"My, isn't that one of prettiest chibis I saw?" The elder chuckled as the chibi blushed and squeaked happily at the man's commentary as Kai narrowed his eyes at the little thing. "Don't you agree my boy?" The elder asked as Kai glared one more time at the chibi before scoffing and storming out of the room.
The chibi tilted their head as Pops chuckled, letting the pretty thing down on the ground to follow Kai.
He sighed before widening his amber eyes at hearing the squeaking following him. He turned around and send a dark glare at the chibi who only smiled lovingly at him.
"Shoo. Be gone." He tried to shove them with his foot by all in vain since the chibi attached to his ankle and squeaked happily as he cringed. "GET OFF!"
Kurono appeared on the halls before snorting at the scene before commenting.
"Found your soulmate?"
"Shut up and help me get rid of this!" Kai glared at his friend who made a thoughtful expression before smirking and denying, hlgetting out and leaving Kai with the lovely chibi on his ankle.
.
.
.
He groaned as he tried to work and the chibi continued walking, playing or even squeaking to get his attention. The chibi wouldn't just leave him alone and always followed or tried to cuddle one part of his body and was getting already on his nerves.
His pacience broke when the chibi accidentally let a bit of his pen fall and he slammed his hands on his desk. Making the chibi squeak, but this time in fear.
"Get. Out. Of my office." He growled the words between his teeth, glaring at the chibi as hives slowly started to appear on his skin "I don't want to even hear your stupid squeaking or see your disgusting face again. Out."
The chibi stayed silent as Kai continued glaring at it before he let out a confused and quite shock noise when tears started to roll down their round cheeks as the chibi jumped from his desk and ran out of his office.
"Well... at least some peace." He sighed before taking his seat again. Getting back to work despite a feeling of guilt starting to grow on the back of his head.
It had been more than six hours since he last saw his chibi soulmate ever since he... blow off. Walking around the halls he couldn't help but sometimes look behind him sometimes to check if the chibi was following him... but it wasn't.
Frowning a bit he shook his head before an idea popped into his mind. Getting his phone out and start his research about the chibis.
Reading more and more about them he saw that his soulmate was actually a quite patient one... normally chibis when ignored by only half an hour they ran away from the person and never heard of again.... but it has been days since he had tried to ignore their existence, and his soulmate was still there, happily following him like a puppy.
Reading ore and more his heart dropped subconsciously when he saw that chibis were extremely fragile creatures. One hit and they might end up the actual person on a very bad and dangerous way. His worry and guilt were too overbearing as he got up and decided to look for the chibi around the house... just to prevent a death.
Yeah... it was only because of that. Je didn't wanted the yakusa to have a bad reputation if one person died becaus of a chibi.... because he was an asshole to them.
Although it reached around the night hours. And still hadn't found the damn chibi. Kurono noticed his distress and he admited the whole story so he could help him.
Kai was almost losing his mind, already admitting that he missed his chibi soulmate, not hearing their annoying squeak was torture now.
"Relax dude, we're going to find-"
"Is my fault. I shouldn't have growled at it." He admited begrudgingly, as Kurono tried his best to not just nod in agreement to not make his friend more stressed than he was.
The two walked towards the kitchen to get a drink before Kai almost felt his breath being ripped out of his chest when he saw the damn brat, sitting on the kitchen counter nibbling on a fruit, not aware of the presence of the two males on the room.
"There it is." Hati smirked as Kai let out a relieved sigh, hesitantly walking towards the chibi as Kurono went to bed.
"You brat, where were you?" He hadn't meant for his tone to be harsh, but immediately cringed when the chibi let out a terrified squeak and hidded behind the basquet of fruitsm
He did deserve that.
Sighing, he got a chair to sit down as he watched like a hawks the shaken chibi as he frowned.
"Apologies." He said nonchantly bit noticed it wasn't enough for the chibi to even poke their head out to look at him. "... I never expected to have a soulmate. I was always barely on my own... and as you cam see I am not the best person to be around of." He looked at the door frame a bit, the corner of his eyes spotting the chibi slowly getting out "Whenever I'm around, the fun ends. That's how always has been since the old man took me in. I... guess that I just think that I'm not suitable to have someone... I would just let them down anyway." He flinched and tensed at feeling something on his hand, only to look down at the chibi hugging his hand and looking up at him before squeaking a smile.
"... even despite of what I did to you, you forgive me that easy?" He arched one eyebrow at the another squeak. His smirk was hidded thanks by his mask as he awkwardly rubbed their chubby cheek with his thumb.
"Brat." He whispered as the chibi squeaked again as he allowed himself to finally be relieved on that day.
.
.
.
Ever since them, he put the brat, as he decided to call, on his shoulder since they seemed like to enjoy snuggle up on the purple feathers of his jacket. Everyone who dared to aproach or even try to touch it, Chisaki immediatly would overhaul them on the spot.
The brat, when the both were alone would always squeak loudly whenever he was wearing his mask. Grumpily he would take it off just to stop hearing the squeaking only for the chibi to kiss his cheek or even lips and ran away from him.
"Why you little-"
Rappa almost stepped on the chibi once, and no one believed that Kai actually shouted and cursed the man... no one even knew that Chisaki knew much cursed words as Kendo himself.
One day, opening the door of Eri's room he called the girl who shakily stood up before both of them widened their eyes when hearing a squeak and the chibi just popping out of Chisaki's jacket and waving at Eri.
"....u-uh...."
"Don't comment and just go Eri."
He really didn't know whether he should ignore it or just want the floor to swallow him after that.
.
.
.
Loosening his tie around is neck he found the chibi on the middle of his bed crying. Anger and concern immediately ran up to his veins as he looked around for any signs fro someone else that could have hitted you or other thing.
Then he remember something, chibis usually reflected what their actual versions were feeling at the moment and for the first time he felt empathy... slowly taking a seat he saw the tiny drops of water espace their eyes.
His gloved hand grabbed them, making them squeak as he apologised. Lowering his mask he glared at the chibi a bit before hesitantly and awkwardly peeking them.
Immediatly the humor of the chibi changed as they let out inumerous squeaks amd hugged his bare face and peppered it with tiny smooches as he grunted.
"I regret my decision already..." he growled as the chibi squeaked even more.
.
.
.
"They sound like they hadn't sleep in ages." Kurono commented with a laugh at seing Kai's soulmate almost drooling on his shoulder as Kai stared blankly at them.
"They're just a lazy brat." He murmured nonchantly before returning his gaze at his front as the chibi let out a cute yawn. "You know the deal, give them the product and leave, or else shoot."
"Got it." They went to turn on a alleyway before Kai let out a grunt when his chibi yanked on his pierced ear and started to squeak loudly and jump on his shoulder.
"What the hell?" Kurono commented as Kai grabbed the chibi on his gloved hand and glared at them.
"What's wrong with-" the chibi bited on his gloved hand and jumped on the floor and stomped out as Kai stared in horror as Kurono was froze in shock "they never did this before."
"Go after them. I will slow down the business." Kai nodded ass he ran after his chibi, ready to give them an hour of lecture for daring to pinch their small teeth on his hand.
"Get THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME-!" he shoved past the people as he ran after his soulmate that despite being little it was fast."GET BACK HERE YOU BRAT!"
The chibi stopped amd looked at him with a smile, poiting at the entrance of a market, squeaking and jumping before entering the place.
"You want to get killed you little-?!" He groaned and stormed in the market looking at the ground desperatly... he was already panicking again before he spotted the little shit turning on a aisle.
"For God's sake brat dont you-?!" He stopped on his tracks when he saw his chibi on the arms of another one. A small version of himself as it hugged lovingly his brat while he could even feel hearts emitting out of them.
"I see..." he muttered in shock to himself before gasping quietly when he heard another's voice, something like "goldie" before they stopped behind his chibi self.
He locked gaze with the familiar (E/c) beautiful eyes. His actual soulmate... was standing there, right in front of him...
They started to slowly take steps towards him and he subsconciously did the same...
He could feel his brat smilling up at him... as his own and only future love of his life giggled when he arched an eyebrow at then before laughing.
Exactly like he suspected...
He couldn't help but smile at the angel in front of him, knowing that for the first time on his life. Soulmates were actually a blessing since he finally found his brat.

NARUMITSU <ATTEMPTING TO READ THE SUBTEXT PLATONICALLY>
*Wrote all this some time last month so I might be off- really really off- also full disclosure I too am a Narumitsu shipper- this is just me giving myself a bad time doing the impossible and having fun XD
-I am going to fail sooner or later. Looking at you, Bridge to the Turnabout.
FIRST GAME >Turnabout Samurai -Yep. We're jumping right in with 'unnecessary feelings'. I'm going to be put on a stake for this. -This is going to become the main argument with any and all homoerotic subtext present in the first game- that it was unintentional. They didn't actively start making it gay until the second game, and even before then the producer for the games had to warn the development team not to try and insert these themes for fear of getting it wrong and lose the fanbase they'd accidentally caught the eye of. I can still create arguments for why this specific, hilariously meme-able line could be read romantically of course- but as far as the game development team at the time was concerned this interaction was never meant to be read as romantic. -Unease and uncertainty are... very valid feelings for Edgeworth to feel at this very moment and as much as I'd like to joke that he was feeling uncertain about his sexuality after seeing his childhood friend as an adult, this line was really just likely meant to lead up to the conclusion of Turnabout Goodbyes and Edgeworth's character arc for this game. His perfect win streak had just been shattered in a case prior. In this case, he was meant to persecute the lead actor of his favorite show- and in some ways his helping the defense can be taken as his biases getting the better of him. His sense of justice and his entire worldview is about to be overhauled, and I can see how he would regard this budding doubt in himself as an unnecessary (heh) distraction from what he believes is his true purpose in life.
>Turnabout Goodbyes -Edgeworth wanting to keep him away from DL-6 has its own section mostly because of how stubborn he becomes when it comes to Phoenix's insistence in particular. It's clear that this stubbornness is a front, I will concede with that- but there are merits to his initial reluctance in accepting Phoenix's defense. It's evident that Phoenix himself has grown over the course of the game so far, but in both of the times that he faced off against Edgeworth in court, his victories were... a tad bit contrived. For instance in Turnabout Sisters, Phoenix really only wins because Mia was being channeled and blackmailed White as he was about to leave the stand. Turnabout Samurai is a little better- but had him rely on quite a lot of coincidences (proven later to be substantiated) that surfaced during the trial. This is nothing to say of the deeper reason Edgeworth has over dissuading Phoenix from taking his case ("You in particular I cannot ask to do this.")- where I can make an argument for his pride and/or concern over Phoenix's career as an attorney. The stakes are relatively high here as well- if Phoenix fails, Edgeworth is incarcerated, Manfred von Karma goes free, DL-6 goes cold once again with no hope of getting re-opened, and everything that Phoenix has been working towards as an attorney would have been in vain. DL-6 is a case that has ruined many lives- it'd make sense if Edgeworth himself felt as though it would be a waste of time and effort to take this case because of how convinced he was of murdering his own father prior to Gourd Lake. He'd grown up for the past 15 years with a nightmare and a death sentence over his head- I wouldn't be surprised if he simply gave up and accepted that he was going to die at the hands of his prosecuting mentor. Even if he were acquitted for the murder of Robert Hammond, his perceived involvement in DL-6 would have thrown a wrench in his freedom- any lesser attorney would have given up on that. And this is unloaded BEFORE Phoenix tells him about the true reason as to why he became an attorney. -Phoenix's insistence to defend Edgeworth in this case can easily just be read as platonic- his complete, unfettered faith in Edgeworth's innocence is heavily influenced by that class trial, for better or for worse. While I'm perfectly happy to imagine that Phoenix's attachment to his idealized version of Edgeworth grew into something deeper sometime in the fifteen years that he hasn't seen him, I do believe that Phoenix in particular really is just that much of a sentimental person. This is to say nothing of his nature as a defense attorney- and what little time he's managed to spend with Mia has taught him that unbridled trust in his client is what gets him through the day, and he's putting it to practice here. Edgeworth was what he has been working towards the moment he decided he would practice law- as Phoenix at this point in time still believes that he could do no wrong despite seeing what Edgeworth is truly like in court. -Cutting into the meat of Phoenix and Edgeworth's shared past, I made a point earlier to say that Phoenix's perception of Edgeworth as a person is idealized. Every memory that Phoenix has had of Edgeworth prior to the events of the first game were from their childhood- and they had 4-8 months (plus one year if we're generous with the retconning some of the official art gave us) MAX to develop a friendship so strong that Phoenix makes major life decisions just to meet with this man. The fact that this time spent together was ENOUGH for Phoenix in the first place is... really hard to skirt around. To quote Dan from GameGrumps "this is something that you would only do for someone you're trying to marry" and if one of them was a woman I guarantee this ship would be canon already. But then again- since this is Phoenix Wright in particular somehow I can believe that he really is just that sentimental- and that isn't always a bad thing. He'd managed to save Edgeworth twice with this conviction after all. When Phoenix sees Edgeworth, he doesn't see a demon prosecutor, he sees his childhood friend who aimed to become a shining example of justice following in his father's footsteps. They address how shaky his foundations for becoming an attorney were in the Phoenix Wright Files once actually- going through a mini-existential crisis because he'd become an attorney with the main goal of saving Edgeworth from what he'd become, and now that he's accomplished that he's just kind of... lost. Edgeworth himself manages to pull him out of this, though. -man that hurts my case a lot actually but to be fair I was banking on failing -I just didn't expect it to happen so early even with the first game -in fact ESPECIALLY with the first game -though I cannot for the life of me wonder how I can come up with a heterosexual explanation for why the buildup towards Edgeworth telling Phoenix and Maya about his nightmares reads so much like a stunted love confession. I'm serious- just read any high school shojo manga ever. You'll find that it hits a lot of the same beats.
>Rise From The Ashes -It's in this case that we observe some of the consequences that the intial upheaval of Edgeworth's worldview in Turnabout Goodbyes causes him; distrust in the enforcement of the law. Not exactly the time for him to be dabbling in another, meme-able brand of unnecessary feelings. Several things like the Prosecutor's Office's relationship with the Police Department starts to waver with the murder of Bruce Goodman, and this becomes the final nail in the coffin for Edgeworth's worldviews and values as a prosecutor. His and Phoenix's teamwork in this trial becomes prevalent- the story behind the King of Prosecutors award represents this best despite it's currently incomplete state. The backstory behind this award paints an ideal of justice in the courtroom wherein the truth comes out as a result of the efforts of contradictory forces. A broken halberd that can cut through any shield (the prosecution) and a broken, unbreakable shield (the defense). Read as representation the text becomes something of a metaphor for the ideal justice that manifests itself in the best parts of Edgeworth and Phoenix respectively- the duality of their opposing professions rather than something that is limited to their relationship. -The same argument that I've used for Phoenix's unwavering belief in Edgeworth's innocence in Turnabout Goodbyes can be used for this case as well. -Though Edgeworth still goes M.I.A for a year after this case, it does grant his disappearance a bit more context as to why exactly it is that he left- and I'll be taking a tiny liberty with this and apply the interpretation that the Miles Edgeworth Files grants us, and that he left in order to better himself and grow as a person, a prosecutor, and as a friend to Phoenix Wright. It's... difficult for me to want to read this as anything but romantically-charged because the narrative beats are NOT lost on me (the dialogue makes this especially hard. send help.)- there's a possibility that Edgeworth at this point in time realizes the value in having a better, more functional dynamic with the one defense attorney who he considers a true equal in court. This dynamic will allow for less chances to encounter missteps and errors in any verdicts handed down in court, and if Edgeworth is to pursue his ideal of justice- Phoenix Wright is undoubtedly essential to this endeavor. The aftermath of Rise From The Ashes is indicative of this newfound goal of his- the symbolism behind the old King of Prosecutors award and the two halves of the evidence list certainly helps this case. -<"It seems all you do is worry about me." -Miles Edgeworth, Rise From The Ashes> For good fucking reason Edgeworth. You were accused of murder and have implicated yourself on the stand for DL-6 just a few months ago- and if the Investigations games are anything to go by, you're more of a danger magnet than PHOENIX is. I had to say it. The first Investigations game takes place over the course of 2-3 days and the sheer amount of shit that Edgeworth had to deal with in between that interval truly makes me wonder how Phoenix Wright ended up with the title of danger magnet. And THIS time- Edgeworth's car becomes a crime scene because his corrupt superiors needed a convenient way of transporting a corpse. There's VERY good reasons to worry about the livelihood of Miles Edgeworth. -Okay I... can't believe I forgot about the chessboard. Here's the kicker- the one we see from his office isn't even the only one he owns. I... legitimately cannot give you ANY purely heterosexual, platonic explanation for why Miles Edgeworth has THREE (THREE. I CANNOT OVERSTATE THIS. HE HAS T H R E E OF THESE FUCKING THINGS. GOOD GOD. HE CAN'T BE ANY MORE EXTRA.)(there exists a similar, portable set in the Investigations games- and he has a new set by the time of Dual Destinies) sets of custom-made chessboards with personalized, highly-specific red and blue designs made purely to depict his rivalry with Phoenix Wright. I fold. I give up. I forgot about the chessboards I wAS NOT EXPECTING TO FAIL THIS E A R LY- -You know what the real kicker is with Rise From the Ashes? The main argument that I have introduced back in Turnabout Samurai does not apply here. Rise From the Ashes was made as a DS-exclusive case and did not exist in the original GameBoy version of the Trilogy. Which means if there is homoerotic tension written in for this case (and there happens to be a lot. the chessboard is proof enough.), then we can safely assume that the writers at this point were well-aware. So yeah- maybe don't feel TOO bad about the unnecessary feelings line- because ever since then the writers have been playing off of that and it SHOWS. -Is there really a point to this I'm just- everything is stacked against me tryna interpret this platonically -Like I know I make a point to say that a romantic relationship isn't the end-all of all relationships because this franchise LOVES pushing the Found Family dynamic and I'm an absolute sucker for that -good god by the time Dual Destinies rolls around I'll probably just give up and happily say they're happily married -that's literally what they act like don't even pretend

Good morning/night/afternoon/evening/day/time hello!
So after seeing how many friends mc have, like wait let me count-----
26! in the friendlist not including, the unofficial friend like Corey,...
With how many friends there are, are there any friends that you would delete in favor of flashing out the other characters or would you like to keep it that way?
I have some ideas on who to delete in favor of flashing out the more main characters, but i fear that this might be a bit... yikess.. I understand that people like this characters and me saying that they "should not exist" might get people mad, i hope this does not give you to much problem.
1. Tulip to Penny ( thks one is still debateable)
I know we have too much Penny especially at year 5/6, sidequest and all tht, but I feel like Tulip doesn't have to exist because her existance can be taken by Penny which flashes her character more.
Hear me out, Tulip is great. But after year 3 or maybe 4 her existence is uneeded anymore. In year 3 we can instead use Penny, Penny is a popular person with many friends. It wouldn't be out of character for her to try to understand Merula maybe try to befriend her ( i mean she did befriended Talbot, who isn't exactly the nicest or the most approachable ) but later, on something happend and now there is more substance in Penny hating on Merula rather than yeah, she such a bully or smth.
2. Barnaby to Ben
Ben is really untouched at the early years ( 1 to 3) I feel like the whole ark of Barnaby can be dealt with Ben. Like imagine Ben was Merulas lab dog, but because of Jacob's sibling kindness and all that, he finally have the courage to stand up to Merula proving his Gryffindor side. This could also explain Rowan sudden suspicions of Ben in Year 4, (its quite mean of Rowan tbh) I mean like after year 3 aside from the dating tlsq, Barnaby doesnt really do much does he? I mean you can argue that he have some influence on the last curse vaults but nah-
3. Badeea Ali to Rowan
Simple, we need more Rowan! I think the thing Badeea did in year 5 can easily be done with Rowan, i mean she just disappears later on anyways.
4. Instead of Bea, Rowan should be in the potrait.
5. Talbot as Ben? I'm not so sure about this one but yeah, they could put aside Talbot so we can flash out Ben. The flying solo quest can be switch into Ben losing his Bear again but we get more background to what the Bear meant to him ( maybe about his muggle life?? ) the tlsq could be at around year 5 or 6 to help Jacob's Sibling understand more about whats going through Ben's mind.
6. Diego = Ben
Ben is told to be good at charms we never really get to see it until around year 4 with the red cloak shenanigans. I would like to see JC explore more of his charms ability by teaching mc.
Anyways im not here to bash on your favorite characters im just saying that a lot of the characters are wasted pottential. To much characters can kill a story, rather than adding more characters jc should focus on the current one.
Sadly, they never did
Year0 Rowan
Year 1 Ben, Penny, Merula, (Chiara)
Year 2 Bill, (Chiara)
Year 3 Barnaby, Ismelda, Tulip, Andre Tonks, Talbott. Year 3 is definitely the worse case of it.
Year 4 Charlie
Year 5 Bea, Jae, Badeea, Liz, Diego
Year 6 Alanza
Year 7 Corey
The problem is, the more jc adds the characters the more they just stack up in the background, clogging the story. Imagine the characters as dept and the currency is good writing.
Anyways love your content, keep it up!
Personally, I couldn't begin to imagine doing this.
Not that I'm saying it's a heartless idea, mind you. I've worked with this line of thinking before. I work in children's theatre, and when we adapt scripts for different sized casts, we have to often cut characters or absorb them into others. So this isn't unheard of, and I get it. Still, having grown emotionally attached to each and every one of these little misfits, and feeling like they all have potential in different ways...cutting them is not what I would do at this stage. I believe the TLSQ system should be completely overhauled, and in doing so, used to give screen-time to characters that don't always get a lot. Imagine if each character had a TLSQ that starred them at maybe LV 5, and then a sequel quest at LV 10. Might seem excessive, like too many quests...but again, this goes back to the idea of a revamp. Allow players to hit pause, and put a TLSQ on a "waiting list" so to speak. Allow them to reroll so they can skip one if they want to for whatever reason. Stop having TLSQs disappear forever if they're failed twice.
As far as your first suggestion...I realize that my status as a Tulip fan might be affecting my reaction, but absolutely not. I have no issue with Penny, but if it comes down to omitting one of these two...well, Penny does come with Beatrice, and that whole emotional arc during Years 5 and 6. But I'm not sure if keeping that is worth losing Tulip. Because her storyline with Merula is quite compelling, and it adds to the backstory of one of the mainstay characters. Plus...Tulip is kind of way more interesting than Penny, if I'm being honest. Actually, if I was to have anyone be "absorbed" into anyone else...I feel like Tulip could have easily been the "detention" character in Year 5? And that would have been a way to keep her relevant? Again though, I love Jae so much that I couldn't imagine doing this. But it's one example of how this idea could be done give more focus to fewer characters. You know who could be absorbed into Penny, though? Andre. Just, so long as we're actually thinking about this.
Barnaby is a character who sadly has not done much since his arc ended in Year 3, you're right about that. However, I feel like Ben is just too complicated and too tied to the main story for him to be shuffled with anyone. We still have unanswered questions about the gaps in his memory from Year 2. Did he cross paths with R? With Merula? Then there is the question of his time as the Red Cloak in Year 4. His transformation into "New" Ben, after going into the Portrait Vault with MC. I suppose these things could be transferred over to Barnaby, but that would leave the Year 2 stuff up in the air. And as for transferring it the opposite way, cutting Barnaby to give Ben more prominence...I mean, it could be done, but Ben already has plenty, if you ask me. And I don't see him being able to take on the role of Merula's lapdog, given their history from Year 1.
I'll never say no to getting more of Rowan, and this is something I could actually see working. The idea of Badeea being absorbed into Rowan and that screen time being given to them. I love Badeea, but it's definitely tempting. By in large, the Year 5 characters did feel at least a little gimmicky. They're all wonderful, but the fact that there were four of them, one for each House, and they all had a specific interest that was central to their character? The fact that all things considered, they didn't really matter to the story apart from perhaps Jae? Yeah, I would never want to lose any of them, but I can see why that might work. As for Rowan taking the place of Beatrice...well, that's an idea. For sure. It could give MC the same kind of immediate emotional context. Allow Rowan to be heavily relevant without them actually needing to have any lines. But their entire character would have to shift after that point. If they're absorbing Beatrice' character arc...I mean, the Forbidden Forest comes to mind. Does that still happen? Does Rowan's personality change? What becomes of them after Year 5?
I still believe Ben is doing just fine in terms of his relevance, but I'll admit there's definitely something to the idea of Diego being absorbed into him. And I've grown to truly like Diego. Ben having talent at dueling could show how far he's come. If they depicted it prior to the end of Year 4, it could be foreshadowing of him being the Red Cloak. If he still helps MC prepare to challenge Rakepick in Year 5, it could play into his fear of her. And I like what you're doing with the idea of Talbott being absorbed into Ben....but no, I can't endorse that one. It's just not needed for Ben's story, and Talbott is already so fascinating on his own. I dig the Ravenclaw representation, I dig the Animagus representation.
Either way, it's an interesting topic to think about. Not to worry, I don't take offense at all. I get that people have different opinions and there are certainly valid critiques of this game's writing. I still enjoy it though, and I think the characters are the strongest suit. Their placement in the game, perhaps not quite so much. But it's because of this that I wish for all of them to be handled better, without having to lose any of them. Thank you for the kind words and I hope to hear from you again!

BNHA CHARACTER BIO ANALYSIS MASTER POST
This was originally supposed to be the second thing on the list of things for me to write but thinking about it, the other thing would take longer to finish. Since my other analysis was meant to be an analysis to help design your OC physically, this entire analysis is here to help flesh out your OC mentally.
You see character bios a lot in anime and manga. The variety of a character’s likes and dislikes are meant to tell us something interesting about the characters. Horikoshi utilizes his bios to explain the character’s mental states: to explain something about the character’s design, personality, quirks, and roles in the story. The bios aren’t for fun facts, but to learn more about the mentality of the characters.
I am going to analyze BNHA’s characters’ bios to help you get a better idea of how to write your bio for your OC.
Alright, let’s get started.
Name and Age:
Tumblr media
The details of real names and ages are at that spot on the top right corner of the page. The age is located on the right next to the name of the character. A hero's true real name and age are revealed on this very spot with the real name below the hero name.
Tumblr media
That’s the location you need to know when you’re doing an OC bio for name and age.
Birthday:
One thing I noticed when I looked at the character birthdays is that It references their quirk and overall design.
For example, Manami's birthday is on February 14th referencing her quirk “love,” since Valentine’s Day is a day of love. Gentle’s birthday is August 29, a reference to Michael Jackson, who was born on this date and sung “Smooth Criminal,” a song which is a reference to Gentle’s role and quirk. While it may seem to be reaching, Horikoshi often uses pop culture references in his work.
Additionally, Horikoshi uses Japanese wordplay, or Goroawase. Goroawase uses Japanese words that can be read with several different meanings, and pronunciation associated with a series of letters, numbers, or symbols.
For example, let’s look at Seiji Shishikura’s birthday, February 9th. When split it goes like this: 2 = Ni 9 = Ku In Japanese, 29 can be read as “niku” meaning “meat.” On the 29th of every month, restaurants and groceries give special offers on a discount on meat. This is all a clever reference to Seiji’s quirk: “meatball.”
Another example is Fat Gum. His birthday is August 8th, or when initiated, 8/8. When spoken, it sounds like the word “ate” which is related to his character always being seen eating food. The two circles inside 8 look like a silhouette of a heavy person, noting Fat Gum’s design.
Also, Rumi’s early March birthday is a reference to the march hare in Alice in Wonderland, which correlates to her rabbit motif.
There’s also Kigo used in character birthdays, Kigo are words and phrases associated with a particular season. An example of Kigo is Tsuyu, whose birthday is around February. In Kigo, frogs are associated with February through May, and are known for their loud singing during that time of year. Hence, Tsuyu’s entire frog-themed motif in her design.
Another example of the use of Kigo is with Mineta and his birthday, October 8th. The Kigo associated with Autumn are grapes (fruit that is typically harvested in autumn). This part correlates to Mineta, whose character design is shaped around grapes.
Another I want to point out is Mirio’s birthday. He has the same birthday as Izuku’s: July 15th. This may seem like a coincidence, but if you look closely it isn’t. Mirio’s birthday reinforces that he is Izuku’s foil, with them bearing the same background dealing with a troublesome quirk and working towards being a hero despite problems with their quirks. In the story, Mirio was supposed to be the successor of All Might and was originally meant to inherit OFA instead of Izuku. There’s a clever use of this foiling to the main character in Mirio and Izuku sharing a birthday.
This is interesting to add when you're working on your OC’s birthdays.
Star Sign:
Next up: what if a birthdate doesn’t have a Kigo, Goroawase, or national holiday associated with it? Well, you can just use star signs to tell an OC’s personality.
As I explained in the Dabi bio, his Star sign matches his personality, and Himiko’s Zodiac references both her cat-like features and her personality. Horikoshi knew what he was doing when writing his characters. He assigned the zodiacs deliberately.
I will help you in choosing a star sign for your character by analyzing these characters and elaborating on these star signs below.
Izuku Midoriya: Izuku’s star sign is a Cancer, Like Cancers, Izuku is a kind and caring person that doesn’t hesitate to help those in need, with this being his natural trademark.
Izuku is a very emotional person. His actions are fueled by his own emotions in any given situation; this is seen in how he said “my body moved before I thought” when he jumped in to save Bakugo from the sludge villain, and Uraraka from the giant robot in the exams, and trying to take action in saving Eri when he confronts Overhaul. One of the hilarious things to note is his trademark in that he overreacts in any given situation and displays a variety of exaggerated emotions to the point of being oversensitive.
Izuku is intuitive to the feelings of others and is highly empathetic to the pain and suffering of other people. Cancers are natural nurturers, as seen in how he is very supportive of his friends and prone to motivate them and boost their confidence. For example, he attempts to try to help Todoroki overcome his emotional issues in the sports tournament and to save Uraraka in the entrance exams. Izuku doesn't stop until he makes sure that the people around him are happy and safe. However, this also causes him to endanger himself and his well being to help other people.
Izuku’s dream of being the world's greatest hero sounds vague since it is not clearly defined, but it is a very emotional goal. Izuku loves heroes. It's no secret. He keeps track of them in a notebook analysis that he carries around. He loves learning about heroes’ history and quirk he even a large fanboy of All Might since he has all his collectibles and his room is decorated with merchandise. Cancers are known to be stubbornly fixated on something, which fits Izuku.
Much like Cancers, who love home life, Izuku loves being around the comfort of his hero action merchandise in his room as well as happy and content when surrounded by the presence of heroes.
Izuku enjoys being in good company such as his friends and family. Izuku scores are high in cooperation as his stats in the databook show, which fits with traits of cancers such as being dependable and being a good team leader. He’s a good team player working together with his classmates in helping them to fully utilize their quirks to their fullest potential. He’s observant and intelligent as well as adaptable, being able to grasp the machinists to quirks and notice the ins and outs to someone’s quirk to use them to his advantage.
Cancers tend to daydream, which goes with Izuku. He’s a dreamer who dreams to be a hero and is known to be a little too in his own head, as Cancers often are. Izuku can be a little too self-absorbed to notice what’s going on around him; this manifests in his muttering habit when he gets lost in his track thoughts to know what’s going on around him. This is seen when Izuku loses himself in fighting Shigaraki and loses a feral side when he faces strong dangerous villains.
Izuku’s sentimental side is referenced again in his star sign since Cancers are soft creatures underneath their shell: they can get easily hurt by the slightest criticism. Despite Izuku’s newfound confidence within himself in the series, he still suffers from a lack of self-worth. Much of his insecurities stem from his initial quirklessness, that he feels useless with no quirk and that he can’t be a hero. He’s so internalized that he can’t be a hero without a strong quirk that even after he was given one by All Might he doesn’t believe that he’s worthy of wielding the quirk. Izuku feels the need to get stronger, to not make mistakes, to prove to someone that he isn’t useless. He wants to feel needed by others when he feels that he didn’t meet their expectations. It crushes him. This line of thinking causes him to be very reckless to the point he neglects his well being. As Bakugo points out, he doesn’t take himself into account which is seen in his battle with Shigaraki.
Izuku is timid and quiet but one of his most notable strengths is that he never gives up. Like Cancers who are tenacious and possess strong perseverance, Izuku’s determination is one of the greatest strengths of his character. Izuku's bravery, courage, determination, and kindness make up his heroic qualities.
Katsuki Bakugo: Bakugo’s star sign is an Aries. You could argue that Bakugo is a Taurus because he was born on a cusp but closer inspection a lot of Aries traits match Bakugo. Aries is a fire sign, which is seen in his personality. Bakugo harbors both the positive and negative traits of Aries.
Like the traits of Aries, Bakugou’s confident, passionate, impatient, and short-tempered. Bakugos prefers to do things his way; he hates being told what to do by other people and be pushed around. Bakugo is competitive and will put everything he has to win striving for a perfect victory. Bakugo won’t settle for just winning: he's very thorough and wants the task to be 100 percent complete. Bakugo is hardworking and serious in wanting to be the top hero; he's ambitious in surpassing All Might.
Bakugo is impetuous; in a fight he charges forward to victory without a single thought. Bakugos is competitive in everything, whether in training or arguments he always will fight to have the last word. Bakugo is obsessed with perfectionism and expects everything to be perfect if he isn’t looking for the perfect victory. Bakugo doesn’t like accepting help, and has trouble doing so and can be argumentative. Bakugo’s constantly pointing out the faults in other people around himself comes from wanting to be seen as the strongest, but manifests as him demanding things from others and bossing them around.
Bakugo is intelligent. He was ranked the highest in class for his written exams good at coming up with strategies in battles. Bakugo is straightforward, something you wouldn’t suspect from him but he hates any form of deceit and won’t resort to any low means to win. He's perceptive and hates liars and gets angry when he perceives someone is lying to them.
Bakugo can be petty but this is large can be at fault for his perfectionism and competitiveness which is the source of all his problems. Bakugo had trouble managing his feelings; he never knew how to deal with his anger, so he came out in explosive outbursts. He vents his anger at Izuku because of his perceived notion of weakness Izuku emits and the need to feel better to not let that weakness come over him. He wants to be strong and doesn’t want to show weakness in front of others. Bakugo’s pride prevents him from doing so. When he isn’t on top of everything it causes him great distress and cannot take the stress and pressure; you best see this exemplified when he breaks down to Izuku over All Might’s retirement.
After his battle with Izuku, Bakugo gets better. He comes to accept his mistakes and becomes a little more aware of his shortcomings. When he puts his good qualities to use he’s a great leader you see this when he leads his group in the sports festival and the joint training arc showcasing his leadership qualities. Bakugo is now willing to work together with others as long as it guarantees victory. He may be a humongous jerk but has great character development.
Shoto Todoroki and Ochaco Uraraka: Shoto and Ochaco are both born under the star sign Capricorn. They share many similarities.
Todoroki has all the cold traits relating to the Capricorn.
Shoto is hardworking in his hero studies and very serious when it comes to training it could be said that he’s the more serious and focused out of all of class 1-A. Todoroki’s the most cool-headed out of class 1-Al when it comes to a crisis he still retains a cool head often calm in parlous situations. Shoto’s reserved qualities border on airheadedness, or even slow on the uptake, like him correctly deducing Izuku’s connection to All Might only to fall short when he asked if he was his love child. Yet Todoroki is smart, being scored 5th in the midterms. He’s a high achiever and he's good at keeping everything on top when it comes to everything such as school work and training.
Todoroki is distant with his peers but in contrast to the loner image, he socializes when he partakes in group activities with his classmates but more as a wallflower.
Capricorns are often unforgiving, which fits this with Todoroki who is a serious grudge holder. He’s spiteful towards his father for what he’s done to his mother whom he abused to the point of having a mental breakdown. Todoroki is willing to hold a grudge against those he cares about; this aspect of his shows just how loyal he is to his loved ones.
Todoroki is very doubtful in himself; he tends to criticize himself so much that he feels he is not enough. He harbors doubts about becoming his father and is traumatized by the abuse. Todoroki has a lot of inner demons because of the abuse of his father he uses an exterior as a defense mechanism to defend against them only makes things worse for himself this is apparent in his interaction with Inasa.
So, that’s Todoroki. How is Ochaco similar to a Capricorn? On the surface, it may not seem that Ochaco embodies the traits typical to Capricorns, but if you take an in-depth analysis of her character it turns out she has more in common with the Capricorns than we thought. Ochaco is devoted to her studies and loyal to her family and friends, She has a steel grit and incredible determination. She is willing to do anything to achieve her goal. This side of her personality, her great determination, and stubbornness are shown at the sports festival in her match with Katsuki. The Capricorn matches Ochaco more serious, determined traits. Ochaco is practical: she’s aware of her limits and she takes an internship in combat training from Gunhead to increase her mobility.
Both Ochaco and Shoto are strongly resolute in their desire to become heroes. Both of them show these sides at the sports festival.
Another thing two that they have in common is that they both don’t hesitate to say what’s on their mind there, honest in their own opinions which can be off-putting to some people. This can stem from the aspects in Capricorns to be realistic, to throw cold hard facts in others’ faces. For example, during the hideout arc, Ochaco points out that Bakugo would find it disgraceful to be saved by Izuku, showing that she has an understanding in their relationship Todoroki notes that their actions in wanting to rescue Katsuki are very selfish since it wouldn’t be accepted by Bakugo or anyone else. This aspect references both of them being real.
Capricorns are family-oriented signs. They are loyal to their own family and willing to do anything for them. This trait says a lot to do with both Todoroki and Ochaco in the way their motives in becoming heroes came from them. Todoroki’s desire to be a hero was inspired by an All Might interview he watched with his mother when he was young, Ochaco’s motives to be a hero was to get her parents out of poverty to have an easy life. Both of them are loyal to the people they love.
Capricorns have two sides of them they won’t show until you befriend them. This holds for both Ochaco and Shoto, Ochaco doesn’t tell her classmates about her family situation; only her close friends Izuku and Iida know about it. Izuku is the only one who knows Todoroki’s family situation. Todoroki only told Izuku his abusive family background by choice because he felt a strange familiarity from him other than his connection to All Might.
The Capricorns have two sides that both contradict and work side by side: the goat’s torso and fishtail. Ochaco and Todoroki poses two sides of their personality Ochaco who is energetic and a huge chatterbox yet can be serious and determined when she sets her mind on her goal. On the outside, Todoroki came off as cold and unemotional but deep down he’s passionate and driven, his cold exterior masks his much warmer gentler traits that were close off in the abuse. Todoroki’s quirk “half hot and half cold” may have been inspired by his star sign. Thanks to their friendship in Izuku, Todoroki opens up his more warm traits and Ochaco with her serious and more practical traits.
Both Ochaco and Todoroki are greatly reliable and trustworthy friends as seen in the way in their friendship with Izuku. Ochaco is kind and supportive of Izuku giving positive encouragement to a derogatory name Deku; Shoto worries about Izuku being the only one to sense what was wrong when Izuku was in trouble. They both care about Izuku and rush in to help him when he’s in danger. Todoroki rushed in time to save Ida and Izuku from Stain, and Ochaco latches onto Izuku when his quirk goes out of control, while she calls out to Shinso. Both Todoroki and Ochaco were inspired by izuku by bringing out the best in them in their friendship. Because of their friendship with Izuku, they brought out the more positive traits they kept hidden.
Height:
For character heights, they can be whatever you want it to be. When comparing the heights of the characters look at other animes for reference and look up height to tell what is short and tall a tip for advice when measuring the height of a character is line them up with the other characters.
Heights call back to the motifs in character design, for example, Tsuyu is 150 cm, Mirko 159 cm, and Mineta 108 cm with rabbits, frogs, grapes in their design the common thing about them is that Frogs, grapes, and rabbits are all relatively small.
Favorite Things:
The most important thing about the bio is the Favorite things about the character. Do you want to write a BNHA Oc Bio? That’s what you need to look at when writing one. In character bios, the person's likes and dislikes say something about the character’s mentality This is no different for BNHA likes.
Horikoshi uses the likes to explain something about the personality, quirk, and role of the character in the story. Unlike how the birthday says something about the design of the character, the likes are used to describe the character’s mentality saying something about the character and quirk. This couldn’t be any more true for the main characters.
(It’s perfectly okay to put your personal preferences in the likes if you want to do that’s fine too.)
What do the characters like have to say about them you may ask? Well, I am going to explain.
Izuku Midoriya:
Tumblr media
Let’s start with Izuku, the main character of the series. His favorite thing is listed as katsudon.
Tumblr media
Katsudon is made with deep-fried pork, rice, and some other ingredients, and it’s a popular dish in Japan. There’s a common tradition for students to have to eat katsudon the night before a major test or school exam. It's good luck to do well on the test and eating katsudon is supposed to make them victorious when passing the test. The reason why they believe that is because when the kanji of katsudon is split apart it contains the kanji  “katsu”  which means “to win” and is a homophone of the verb “katsu” meaning “to win” or “to be victorious”.
One other thing about Katsudon is how it ties into Izuku’s relationship to Katsuki Katsudon shares the same kanji as Katsuki and is both related to winning and victory like with Katsuki when it comes to the perfect victory. Katsudon referenced Izuku’s admiration towards Katsuki since to him, Katsuki is the symbol of victory someone he admired for always does whatever it takes to win no matter what which is one of the reasons he looked up to him despite how Katsuki treated Izuku in their relationship.
Izuku’s personality is referenced in this gag, In Japanese police films where suspects, when interrogated, will speak the truth with tears in their eyes while they eat katsudon when asked: “did you ever think how your mother feels about this?” This part in the gag reminds of Izuku’s constant waterworks he sheds plenty of times in the manga and relates to his anxious expression and how he always looked nervous like a suspect being under interrogation in which the gag notes.
The line, “did you ever think how your mother feels about this?” notes Izuku’s relationship with his mother for whom he cares about and shares a close relationship with. The line reminds us of how much Izuku cares about his mother and feels guilty for constantly making her worry when he injures himself when using OFA.
I believe what it means for Izuku to like what it says about his character itself. Izuku is slowly learning to get stronger and win throughout the series and that every small moment in the series is his victory of getting closer to becoming the greatest hero.
Katsuki Bakugo:
Tumblr media
Next is Bakugo’s favorite things, spicy food, and mountain climbing.
Tumblr media
Spicy food is a reference to Bakugo’s indigestible character and unpleasant personality as well as his quirk explosion being all hot and spicy.
Japanese people believe that preferences in food say a lot about a person’s personality. They say that people who like spicy food are supposed to be short-tempered, daring, and competitive. That isn’t much of a surprise since it matches Bakougo’s short-tempered and competitive character but what was surprising was finding out mountain climbing was listed down in his likes.
In Japanese symbolism, mountains are sacred places between heaven and earth. The birds flying over the mountains symbolize overcoming life challenges. This is seen in Bakugo on how he likes to overcome difficult obstacles and does whatever it takes to win until he overcomes his challenge.
Ochaco Uraraka:
Tumblr media
For Ochaco her favorite things are Japanese cuisine and starry skies,
Tumblr media
Although Japanese cuisine sounded confusing when I narrowed down, I found out that Ochaco likes mochi. Mochi is a traditional Japanese food made from rice cakes and ice cream. Mochi, when used as a term, is there to describe someone who is soft round, and cute like Ochaco herself with her entire round motif.  As well as used to say one has round cheeks referring to Ochaco’s round blushy cheeks in her design. A fact on Japanese foodstuffs is that people who like sweets are considered sweet people, being kind, relaxed, easy to get along with what she is.
Eating mochi on the first day of a new year provides warmth and nourishment and imparts strength, endurance, and good health for the cold winter ahead. Noted at their first meeting as being like a breath of fresh hair to the nervous Izuku, she goes on to empower Izuku by changing a derogatory nickname Deku from something that he hated into something positive. Ochaco’s entire character serves as refreshing to the people around her.
Mochi being eaten is a prayer for health and good fortune: good health signifies her upbeat chatterbox personality as someone who is always in good health.Mochi is eaten all year round and is very affordable.
Mochi symbolized material and financial wellbeing. People eat this food boosting their economic vitality. References to Ochaco’s poor financial background, the symbolism in mochi has a lot to do with family and Ochaco’s motives in wanting to be a hero (to get her parents out of poverty).
There's a legend in the Bungooku Fudoki that there was once a wealthy family who used their rice cakes as archery targets instead of eating them. This is a wasteful and disrespectful act that laid the family fields bare and fell into financial ruin. The legend references Ochaco being adamant in wasting money and being stingy in spending money not wanting to be wastefully seen in the legend notes Ochaco and her frugal lifestyle.
There’s a new year event called Mochizuki. Mochizuki is a traditional event that is held on 25-27 of December a reference to Ochaco’s birthday being held on the 27th of December. Mochi is used in the word Mochizuki which means full moon in Japanese the moon largely references her quirk zero gravity since the moon relates to space. This is called Mochizuki because of the round shape calling back to her entire design, the round motif.
Ochaco’s second favorite thing is starry skies, starry skies refer to space references her quirk zero gravity with it relating to space.
Shoto Todoroki:
Tumblr media
Now on to Shoto, his favorite things are Soba.
Tumblr media
Soba being a Japanese food also correlates to Shoto’s oriental design. Soba is a Japanese food that can be eaten in both hot and cold, which refers to his quirk (half hot and half cold). Shoto preferring to eat his soba cold is an important detail heavily applying to how he favors using his ice side over his fireside in combat.
According to Japanese foodstuff, people who like soba are considered cool in appearance and personality-wise. Soba gives the impression that people who choose soba are more determined and cool as well as uncompromising and determined. This matches with Shoto’s entire character.
All Might: I wanted to talk about one thing I noticed in All Might’s likes on his favorites things that are listed,
Tumblr media
It may not seem to mean something about him all that much on the surface but when I researched I found that it has a deep meaning in both All Might’s entire character and role.
Cedars are large trees that grow up to 100 feet tall and live over 300 years. In Yakushima the great cedar tree is estimated to be 200 to 7200 years old, the oldest tree in Japan. This fact alludes to All Might’s unknown age and incredible height.
Japanese ciders are extremely important in ancient Japanese as a source of building material. In Japanese culture, cedars are used for building materials used in building floors and pillars in traditional architecture because cedars grow straight with a certain hardness used for building industrial products. This refers to All Mights status as the symbol of peace that upholds society, putting people at ease with his calming smile to inspire others to be safe and hopeful. All Might be a symbol of peace that keeps society stable with his presence.
Sugi or Japanese Cedars is a national tree of Japan and prized for its fragrant wood in Japanese culture. This could note All Might, who grew up in Japan despite his American influences, is Japan’s most popular hero.
In Japanese mythology, cedars are the closest to Japanese gods since these trees are planted around shrines and temples and grow straight to the sky showing their connection to the Japanese gods. This notes All Might’s god-like powers from his quirk and idol worship of others of hero society. All Might is god-like and inspired people’s unattainable goal to surpass him in strength, which is impossible since he is close to a god.
Japanese symbolism for cedars is grandeur, majestic and strength and “I live for you.” This symbolism has a lot to do with All Might in character: grandeur and majestic both note the immense charisma that he radiates in his dramatic flair and his giant smile which inspires others to feel safe. Strength in the cedar symbolism is related to him being the world’s strongest hero and immense strength of his quirk in being the number one hero of BNHA.
Lastly, the cedar symbolism “I live for you” calls back to his character, how All Might being told of his prophesied death by Nighteye accepts this until Izuku comes along pushed to live. Inko requests him to live for Izuku since he needs him not as a hero but as a mentor. In a way, all these means is that All Might is living for Izuku like the symbolism states.
Supplement and Behind the Scenes:
These are thoughts about the characters on the bio frankly they can be whatever you want to add the titles supplement and behind the scenes are different from each other in the way that they are used in bios.
Supplement are facts about a character’s background and details on their personality history that hasn’t been covered in the main story. Horikoshi adds tidbits of info and facts about the character in his suppliants whenever he was going to clarify something to the audience.
Behind the scenes are talking about the design and concept of the characters in BNHA. Horikoshi interviews about his inspiration when he’s creating characters and his thoughts that he implanted on their designs.
Its usual called behind the scenes in bios but the title can change depending on the character your bio is referring to much like this,
Tumblr media
The title can be whatever you like it to be when writing for your OC.

Blood types:
Tumblr media
You might be confused about this and ask why are Blood types important? Well in Japan they look at blood types the same way we look at Zodiacs: they can tell a person’s personality. You see this is used many times with anime and manga in the character profiles where the character’s blood types are displayed. The BNHA characters have their blood type displayed in the datebook of the characters. You don’t have to add this to your character’s bio; this is only there to be a fun fact insight on their personality. I will talk about how the blood types go with the characters in personality.
Izuku and Shouto are both blood type O. O is the average and best blood type. A character with this blood type is considered deeply determined and easy going. Izuku is much like the O in his blood type being generous, pleasant, kind, and optimistic. He is very peaceful as he tries to pacify arguments in his friend group. He’s easy to get along with and is very intuitive when it comes to the feelings of other people. He looks out for others and rushes in to save them.
Shouto and Izuku show deep determination in wanting to become heroes. They both take care of others and are cautious and careful. Shoto is logical and always looks at the big picture like Izuku he thinks before he acts. Like the O blood type, Todoroki and Izuku embody leader-like qualities in their groups.
However, Todoroki embodies the much more negative aspects associated with O, such as being spiteful and ruthless especially concerning his father. Shoto refuses to use his fireside out of spite when he focused on rejecting his father; it causes him to ignore the feelings of the people around him. You see this ruthless side of him when he freezes villains from the USJ he is doing for interrogation. Todoroki is ill-mannered and rude seen in his comments on others. Todoroki tends to be a loner rarely if ever interacting when he does he comes off as very quiet. Shoto can be a bit of a workaholic when it comes to training and studies. Izuku and Shouto are both insecure and doubtful about themselves with the feeling that they can never be good enough due to their problems. Izuku can be self-absorbed manifesting in his muttering habit and Todoroki be a little too into himself and not realizing other people’s suggestions until it is pointed out.
Both Izuku and Todoroki have O blood; however what makes them different is their star signs, Izuku with the nurturing and sensitive Cancer and Todoroki with the cold serious yet caring Capricorn.
Ochaco’s blood type is B. She has a lot of positive traits of B: Ochaco is cheerful, outgoing, optimistic, and can be strong and passionate about the stuff she holds dear. She’s practical and open, not pretentious, and pragmatic; she's very frank in vocalizing her opinions and always wears her heart on her sleeve. Ochaco is insightful picking up on Bakugo and Izuku’s relationship and good at reading signals others give off. Ochaco provides support to the people she cares about, goal-oriented, and determined she will do whatever it takes to reach a goal no matter what. That is a reference to her goal of getting her parents out of poverty. This makes her hardworking and determined and strong to reach that goal to provide for her parents. all these matches Ochaco perfectly.
People who possess A blood type are honor student types. Iida and Momo are textbook examples of people with blood type A: both of them are presidents of their class.  Iida proved to be trustworthy in leading the class and being a good friend. He is honest, serious, he can be too honest at times he can be uptight when it comes to inconsistencies with Mineta or keeping the class in line. Iida is well organized. You can see this in his room how everything is lined up. Iida is a stickler to the rules; he won’t tolerate anyone who breaks them. Iida wants to be the ideal hero like his brother who inspired him to be one Iida wants to be the perfect ideal of a hero. Iida wanting to be a perfect idea of the hero he idolizes causes him to be selfish. You see this in the entrance exams and when he went after Stain, neglecting to rescue a hero both times neglect to rescue the people around him and charged straight ahead with his desires. Luckily Iida admits when he’s in the wrong and is willing to improve.
Blood type is known to be the perfectionist of the blood group; this is seen very well with both Iida and Momo. Momos being a perfectionist is seen when she sees the inconsistencies of her classmates in the battle trail; she does this because she wants her classmates to improve. She only can excel in thinking and careful planning not on one battle after she lost to Tokoyami in the sports festival she became insecure about her abilities and compares herself critically with Todoroki.
When you look at Bakugo you wouldn’t think of an A automatically. However, taking a deep analysis of his character reveals that it matched him in more ways than you think. There’s no chill with Bakugo: he's a huge ball of nerves. He’s always yelling in explosive outbursts. But while he may seem impulsive, he’s hard-working and wants to make sure that everything is perfect. Bakugo is obsessed with cleanliness and wouldn’t tolerate the single dirt. In contrast to his attitude with his peers, he keeps to the rules and is well behaved in front of authority figures
Bakugo’s fastidiousness with being the best can be very stubborn with what he wants and easily frustrated when things don’t go his way. He’s a perfectionist after all so he has ridiculously high standards. He wants everything to be perfect that comes down to the perfect victory that is seen best in the victory in the sports festival. Bakugo can be nagging when he points out their inconsistencies in other people he honest to the point of rudeness makes him inconsiderate of other people
Like blood type As, Bakugo is terrible at dealing with his emotions and can’t bottle up his stress Bakugo was in deep turmoil on All Might’s retirement and has insecurities if he’s not being strong enough his insecurity when it comes to his weakness causes him to bully Izuku.
You may be wondering if Iida and Bakugo both have A-type blood, then why are they different? As I said before with Izuku and Shoto it’s because of the star sign.
One last thing if you can struggle to understand the blood types and they appear too similar look at B and O, B might seem similar to O but if you look more closely B comes off as more individualistic and hardworking towards a goal and will do anything to achieve it and O are much more group-oriented and self-absorbed. As are fussy about appearances need to be on top and in order due to their perfectionist tendencies.
Though you don’t half add this it’s here to help you gain a better understanding of blood types and how they are used in Japanese culture. When you're doing blood types for your OC look up which blood types and find one that better matches your OC.
Place Of Origin:
Place of origins that are listed in the character’s data book its where the characters live, Izuku, Todoroki, and Bakugo all live in the Shizuoka Prefecture since they are the ones that had their origins in the series.
The place of Origins has something to do with characters like Ochaco for example, She has a Kansai dialect she grew up in the Mie prefecture which is located within the Kansai region of Japan where this dialect is frequently used. Kansai dialect is stereotyped as passionate and honest which matches Ochaco’s personality because she displays these traits. Mie Prefecture is known for its break taking scenery and clear starry skies nothing Ochaco’s presence is refreshing and calming to others around her and her quirk zero gravity.
Mirko grew up in Hiroshima where most of her fighting style is influenced by Filippino foot fighting. Hiroshima is a city that experienced firsthand the horrors of war but decided to pick themselves up and become the city of peace. Hiroshima has many peace-themed monuments created by international organizations called “mayors for peace” which reach out across the globe to bring the world peace. This is similar to how Mirko's hero works on who she travels endlessly across her country in hopes of bringing peace to the world as well when defeating villains and coming to the aid in the town she’s in to see news of breaking out. She’s a rabbit fighting for peace.
I am not an expert on Japan geography and state this is just what I found out when I was researching. Like the blood types you don’t have to add this If you want to add a place of origin for your OC; do your research on the Japanese geography.
Rooms:
As the saying goes, a room says a lot about a person. You can tell a lot about someone just by looking at their room. Since it would say a lot about someone’s personality. Personal and distinctive details the dorm rooms illustrate are the visible reflection of a character’s identity. Horikoshi took creative liberties to his character’s personality and identity just by drawing their rooms.
Tumblr media
Izuku’s room is very self explainable, the wave of All Might collectibles in his room tells that Izuku always idolized All Might when he was young. He's the reason he wanted to be a hero. He centered his whole life revolving around All Might. The collectibles show the aspects of his character.
Tumblr media
Ochaco’s room reflects her frugal lifestyle and that she came from a poor household.
Tumblr media
The constellation chart is about her Zero Gravity quirk. The cactus in the small area symbolizes endurance and determination, one of her personality traits’ tea and mochi because she is a great host and because her name came from tea and her love of mochi!
Tumblr media
Todoroki’s room is a traditional style Japanese room. He’s been raised in a traditional Japanese household and despite the abuse that Shoto has been through he simply can’t get comfortable living in a place unlike home. His room and upbringing references his Japanese character design.
This is less of a writing thing but more of a designing concept when you’re doing with the character’s rooms. Mostly this a design thing to show the character’s personality. This was only here for people to know how to design a room your OC would sleep in but you don’t have to do the entire room thing for your OC.
Tumblr media
Just take a blank room for reference then work your way around it.
Villain Bios:
Tumblr media
At first, when I thought about villains not getting bios I was relieved because I wouldn’t have to spend so much time and energy working on them. But when vol 23 rolled around, they started to get bios.
Tumblr media
Horikoshi once stated in the complaint corner that there supposed to be terrifying in that were not supposed to relate to them in any way. The main reason he didn’t give them bios was that we wouldn’t relate to them and humanize with the villains as people. Villains are not supposed to be sympathetic.
Tumblr media
It’s refreshing to know that there aren’t any big changes to villain bios and they aren’t any different from the other characters’ bio. If you want to do a bio for your villain one look at the directions again I already addressed with the characters bios look over the directions I said previously. This might help you whenever you do a villain bio.
Examples:
Tumblr media
Here are examples of how I utilize this for my OCs, Hozuki Kizuki, and Keiko Uchihara. Their likes to reflect their motifs and overall character designs
Tumblr media
Hozuki’s birthdays fall on February 2nd. Her birthday’s initials are 02/02, a katakanization of the English numbers. “o” from “0”  written with the kanji “○ ” and the Japanese for two is ni together can be read as “Oni” repeated twice correlating her Oni motif.
Her birthday is a reference to Setsubun an event held on February 2nd through 3rd in which people wear masks and have others throw sow beans at them to drive out misfortune and evil to bring good luck. This is a reference to Hozuki’s role as someone who chases after villains to keep others safe from evil.
Also, her birthdate makes her an Aquarius, which showcases her standoffish and independent personality.
For her likes, they are list as roasted soybeans, baseball, Oni related items
For Soybeans I explained already up above with Setsubun. For baseball, when I look at the players holding bats it resembles clubs that Oni use in Japanese folklore.
Tumblr media
Keiko’s birthdate is September 25th which is a cusp, meaning she has two zodiac signs in her birthdate. She is both the logical and pragmatic Virgo and fair and honest Libra. This matches kitsunes’ benevolent and malevolent natures in mythology.
Keiko’s favorite things are Rice, sake, kitsune udon, and inarizushi roll. Sake is a wine that is made ground up from rice. Both sake and rice are a reference to Inari the goddess of foxes, rice, sake, and agriculture. Another called back to the god Inari is inarizushi,a pouch of fried tofu typically filled with sushi rice. It is believed that the fox messages of Inari have a fondness for tofu as the Inarizushi has pointed corners that resemble foxes’ ears. Kitsune udon or fox udon is topped with aburaage and is similar to inarizushi.
All this in her bio goes with her fox motif in her design the Japanese mythology for fox references Keiko traditional Japanese character design.
For blood types, Hozuki is a blood type B and Keiko is a blood type O It is said that people with B blood possess a unique character. Hozuki’s standoffish personality comes to mind when I read this. Hozuki is unapproachable at first glance due to her curt attitude but she’s acutely easy to talk to when you get to know her. Hozuki is practical and serious and has an objective that she is working towards. She is passionate and driven. She would stop at nothing until she reaches her goal. B highlights her serious individualistic traits.
Keiko is friendly and open. She reaches out with kindness and unconditional acceptance. She is empathetic to the plight and suffering of others. Her blood type notes her personality which has many of these traits associated with Os.
Epilogue:
This is what you do when you are writing your OC bios. I hope it at least gives you a better understanding of writing bios for your OCs. I am not an expert when I explain their likes. I did research when writing this post so If I missed anything feels free to add I am open to people’s suggestions. I don’t take any credit for the images I used in this post, all credit goes to the original owners of the chosen said images.
Lastly, have fun writing about your OCs!

I’m Not Okay- Chapter 4 Midoriya x reader/ Bakugou x reader
Tumblr media
Izuku Midoriya x reader/ Katsuki Bakugou x reader
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Summary: You have struggled with mental health your whole life so why can’t you seem to get it under control. Will you be able to keep the same mask even though two of your classmates have seen under it?
Warnings: Depression, Mentions of suicide/ Attempt at suicide, Angst, Anxiety,
Word count: 4,336
Comment: Thank you all for reading this series, I have two different endings I’ll be posting after this chapter. One will be for Bakugou, One for Midoriya. I’ve enjoyed writing this and I am so happy that so many like it.
Once again you matter and any issues you have are valid!
--------------------------------------
You remember once, when you were little, watching a hero on TV save the day. What hero it was didn’t matter to you at the time. All you saw was this person risk their life to save someone else. You watched the emotions that passed over the citizens face, the relief and security they found after being rescued. You remember thinking that you wanted to save people. You wanted to be someone’s reason for feeling safe, a stable beacon of hope and strength. Oh, how foolish you were. Really a child with dreams too big for her bleak future.
A little girl with a quirk better suited for someone with confidence, for someone who truly believed they could save the world. You remember the excitement when it manifested. You ran around telling everyone you were gonna be a hero. There was no idol for you, you didn’t need to be like All Might. You just wanted to help people and with this quirk you were gonna do it. Other kids wanted to be hero’s for fame or power but you didn’t need any of that. You just wanted to make a difference in someone’s life. As you grew the dream was the same but the reason started to change. You wanted to make a difference in your own life, you wanted self-worth and thought being a hero could give you it. Selfish, that is what you thought you had become. How could you have gotten so lost? It wasn’t that you didn’t want to save people you just wanted someone to save you.
As you grew up each year brought on more and more emotional issues. You were convinced that you had brain damage or were dying of some brain eating bacteria. You weren’t completely wrong, you had issues, mental issues.  The first time you had gone to therapy you were six. You stopped getting along with other kids, stopped playing with toys, stopped being a child. Your family was worried, what could have happened that you lost all desire for life. A little kid not wanting to be a little kid was a strange concept. After therapy and some medication, you were back to being a child, running around and playing hero. You were ten when you watched the people around you go about their days like you didn’t exist. You found out the hard way that the world doesn’t stop when you are depressed. Still a child you had to realize that if you were gone the people around you would go on and eventually forget about you. You couldn’t understand this feeling of anxiety. You tried harder and harder to be noticed in the hopes that if you did disappear or die people wouldn’t be able to forget you. This plan back fired. Your family members, friends, and teachers started getting irritated with you. Your parents yelled at you to behave, your teachers scolded you about being loud, and your friends pushed you away not liking this version of you. Eventually you were secluded, an outcast. You were afraid of being alone so you cried. Crying became a norm for you. You did it in public until the judgement started. People didn’t feel bad anymore, instead they claimed manipulation just like Uraraka had. Crying eventually became a taboo thing you did behind closed doors. You learned how to sob silently, how to scream without being heard. That ten-year-old girl was aware of how painful life was and yet you hadn’t even felt true pain yet.
As you aged beyond ten the headaches started, the voices told you horrible things, your smile had faded out of existence, and you constantly felt like you couldn’t breathe. Your therapy was pointless because no one knew why you were like this. It was trial and error. You’d be fine one minute and then you would have scratches up your arms and hollowed out eyes. You’d look like you hadn’t slept for weeks which was true. You couldn’t sleep because your thoughts were worse at night. When you tried napping during the day you were called lazy, told that you were slacking. How could you be a hero if you slept instead of trained and studied. Your parents meant well when they pushed you toward your goal. They just didn’t know the real you. The you behind chipping paint. You felt like an abandoned building left for the earth to take back. Your words were vines burying walls of concrete. The worse things got, the more you painted portraits and placed them in front of you. People admired your work, telling you how happy you looked, how hard you were trying. You were a success story but what was success when you were miserable and a step away from falling into a pit of despair.
One day things changed and for the first time in a long time you felt normal. You felt excited and happy, you looked forward to waking up. What happened to change you? You were accepted into UA. You had tried harder than you thought possible. Tears, blood, sweat, and a lot of profanity was released from your body on your journey to be a hero. All Might telling you in a holograph that you were good enough made you feel like maybe you were. You hadn’t smiled in a school photo until the day you received your school ID. There you were with a toothy grin staring directly at the camera as if to say ‘I did it’. That should have been the moment your life took a turn for the better. You should have been on an escalator going up and you were for the first year. Even after the attack on USJ, after the training camp kidnapping, after everything with overhaul you still fought with no doubts. You smiled even when you cried with your classmates. You had participated and enjoyed their company. Things had gone so smoothly for a while.  However, mental health issues don’t magically go away. One day feeling mentally exhausted turned to two days feeling useless and massive fatigue turned to ten days of sharp chest pain, uncontrolled emotional breakdowns, and drowning in self-loathing. That most fucked up part was you were dealing with it all alone. You couldn’t tell your parents what was happening. What would they say? They would think you were pathetic, not cut out to be a hero. But were they wrong? Did someone who constantly wished negative things on themselves have the right to be here. You found that you questioned yourself over everything. You wondered why you even tried if you were a failure. Why did you eat while others went hungry stressing over classes while you suffered academically on your own terms? Why drink water when you hadn’t put in enough effort to prove you deserved it. The thing that never changed was wanting to save people. You would die if it meant saving just one person. You wanted to change lives not ruin them. You wanted people to smile not scream and cry. You wanted to do so much more for people but had no energy left to try. Your flame had burnt out and you were running on what little smoke it still produced.
Like a steam engine your legs moved you up the dark staircase. Your fingers ran along the cold railing feeling every nick or chip. You wondered if someone touched you if they would feel the broken pieces. Could you cut someone with your shattered mask, with your fractured mental state. Was there a doctor, a quirk specialist, a magician, any person that could put you back together? all the kings’ horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put poor Y/n back together again. Or at least that’s what was going through your mind as the roof door opened with a swift kick that jolted pain through your leg at the heavy metal it was made of. You were so close to the edge. No one could stop you; no one could help you. No hero was waiting and you weren’t feeling heroic enough to try and stop this. All you could think was how you were just a few steps away. You had failed everything else. You couldn’t, you wouldn’t fail this.
---------------------------------------
You don’t have to remove your shoes since you aren’t wearing any. The roof is much windier than you expected. You jump slightly when the roof door slams from the force of the wind closing it. Your hair is reacting to the wind, trying to blow with it, which would normally bother you but you don’t care about something so trivial. You rub your arms from the slight chill the height and wind brought. Not much longer and you won’t have to worry about the cold, or anything for that matter. You close your eye tilting your head upward toward the vast sky. When you open them, you can barely make out the stars because your vision is warped. It’s like you’re watching the night sky as you sink deep under water. The tears that slide down your cheeks make you angry. Why were you crying when you chose this? You chose to climb the stairs and there was no turning around now. The large metal door wasn’t going to be the way in which you would be leaving. Your legs grow shaky as they move you closer and closer to the fencing. You push your hand against the fencing letting your fingers slip through the diamond patterning of thick metal wiring. This wasn’t going to stop you. Not when you climbed all those stairs and broke open a heavily locked door. You activate your quirk using the blades that appeared on your finger tips to cut the obstacle away. Your quirk allowed you to create blades on your body, they could range from small swiss army knives to sharp saw-like weaponry. A cool useful quirk wasted on a useless fuckup. Once there was a large enough hole in the fence you deactivated your quirk before tossing the damaged property aside. There was a little room between the outside of the fence and the lifted concrete ledge. Just enough room for you to move along the ledge trying to find a good spot. You ran your fingers against the cold stone feeling fragments of cement crumble away. You stopped after finding the perfect spot. You could see city lights in the distance and when you turned you could see the buildings you had run from. The rows of large dormitory building. Some lights were still on and you smiled wondering what these strangers were doing. Maybe some friends were staying up talking about nothing important just enjoying each other’s company. Maybe someone got hungry or needed to finish an assignment. The thing you truly hoped was that none of these lights were coming from a room where someone laid crying wishing for death as you had done for so long.
“Please don’t cry!” Your voice is carried by the wind and disappears into the darkness. You wipe at your eyes because you are yelling to no one but maybe you were yelling to one of those lights. Maybe you wanted anyone hurting to hear you, to feel that you cared. That you believed that they could get better, as a true hypocrite would.
“It’s okay to hurt!” The words weren’t yelled at max volume because your throat was tightening from holding back sobs. You were suffocating on them as you leaned your body over the ledge gripping it for dear life. This time no words came out but instead a scream. A scream that mimicked that of an injured animal, or someone who had witnessed everything they love be destroyed. You screamed until you felt like you couldn’t breathe anymore, till your throat was raw. Your nails dug into your neck, palms pushing against your throat begging for your lung to work. Your body was breaking down and you could feel adrenaline pulsing through your veins. The word ‘breathe’ a mantra pounding in your skull. Maybe this is what you deserved for trying to preach something you didn’t practice, something you didn’t believe for yourself.
“I… I JUST WANT IT TO STOP!” There were rivers of sorrow moving like ghastly rapids down your flushed face. Snot dripped out your nose and you gave up wiping it away. You were ugly right now and that didn’t matter. No one was here to see you like this anyway. That was a good thing. You wouldn’t be able to bear the weight of judgement you’d receive from this nauseating display. “Please make it stop.”
Your grip on the stone wall tightened as you finally pulled yourself onto it. The edge crumbled slightly causing you to feel the smallest bit of apprehension. Why were you scared? Why the hell did you keep questioning yourself? The more questions that you asked yourself the more doubt arose, it was creating hesitancy. You were standing literally on the edge, there was no room for indecision. Eyes closing you think, think about everything that lead you here. The quiet disappointment of your parents, the withdrawn behavior that pushed your friends away, the pain of waking up. The bad wasn’t all you thought about, you thought about the good times. The way your parents cried and held you with worry after the USJ attack, the proud cheering for you at the sports festival even though you lost, and how they always text you to remind you that they love you. They supported you, loved you, and yet you just couldn’t use that as an excuse to feel better. You were still missing pieces of yourself, no matter how much love you received you still hated yourself which made their love feel invalid, undeserved. There were good times with your friends as well. The first day of school was the most terrifying and yet best day. You remember Bakugou getting scolded by Iida, you remember the way Midoriya’s eyes sparkled when learning people’s quirks, and you loved the anxiousness and thrill you felt holding onto that ball. You didn’t even know if you could match everyone else’s throws but that didn’t matter, what mattered was that you were even there amongst such amazing people. The time you spent with Mina was the most important, she was the first friend you made that truly loved and cared about you no matter what mood you were in. The first time you ignored her she gave you space but still checked in on you. She still told you jokes and complimented you. It hurt at first but then you realized that no matter what happened she’d be there for you. She made school easier for you. Other people soon approached you and you had become a part of different groups. Kirishima always invited you to train, Kaminari always tried to make you laugh and flirted playfully with you every time you seemed down. Every time you were lost in bad thoughts, when your body was amongst friends but your mind was in a dark place, Sero would tape Kaminari to the wall. You’d laugh, really laugh no matter how many times he did it. There were so many moments and memories you had shared with your classmates. What a shame they’d go to waste.
“I’m so sorry.” The words came out dejected. No fight left, no more energy. You were tired and ready. Oh god you were so ready for this to all stop. The slightest giggle broke the silence with as much pain the screams had. “I’m sorry.”
Your parents flashed through your mind followed by your friends. Regrets disappearing from your body as you inched closer to freedom. Midoriya would cry, he always cried. You didn’t want him to cry, sitting in that teacher’s lounge waiting for you knowing that you wouldn’t ever return. With you gone he could have friends, enjoy life without your negative energy. He could hold Uraraka close while you faded from existence. Bakugou wouldn’t show his emotions, he was really good at hiding any emotion that wasn’t anger. However, you knew he would be sad. You knew that he had blamed himself for All Might’s retirement. He would blame himself which scared you. This had nothing to do with him failing to save you. This had everything to do with failing to save yourself. You wondered if he would still make too much food out of habit and have to throw it away. Would he train harder as a distraction, potentially overwork himself? One final heartbreaking question passed your mind. Would Mina still smile, would you take her sunshine when you left?
One step and the world seemed to move in slow motion then all at once. The sky was beautiful as you turned to fall backwards. You didn’t want to see the ground. Just the gorgeous vastness of space. You fell with grace. Like an angel falling from heaven, like a shooting star, like someone who had nothing left to live for. Darkness surrounded you as your conscience was lost, as you plummeted toward the ground.
--------------------------------------
Bakugou and Midoriya collided as they rushed into the broken school doorway. The panic in each other’s eyes evident as they shared a look. Usually they were rivals but, in this moment, they wanted the same thing and it didn’t matter who got there first, what mattered was that they got there. Got to you. Finally sharing the same goal, they moved as a unit toward the staircase. How long did it take you to climb these stairs? Were your legs as heavy as your heart? Midoriya wanted to find you sitting on the stairs crying. Bakugou wanted to open the door and find you on the other side about to head back down because you couldn’t do it. As they ran, they both wished they could have done more but there was only so much they could have done. Bakugou wanted to go back in time and fought the people and situations that made you feel this way. Midoriya would have held your hand, dried you tears, reminded you every moment that you mattered. They will do these things if they stop you, after they stop you. Fear drove them up the stairs faster. The temperature getting hotter and hotter as Bakugou activated his quirk to move faster. The dark walls of the stairwell illuminate as Midoriya uses one for all to boost his legs further, skipping a copious number of stairs at a time. Passing a window, they hear you, the words you yelled to those distant lights, ‘please don’t cry’ ’it’s okay to hurt’ it was as if you were giving the validation you wish you had. The words were heartbreaking enough but the added tone intensified them, the broken scream that followed just about destroyed the boys. By the time they reached the halfway point you had begged for this to stop. Your words were like knives digging into their hearts, chests, and minds. How could you have felt this much pain and no one ever notice? What kind of heroes were they if they couldn’t save you? Though the most important thing for heroes to remember is that they can’t save everyone. Right now, they didn’t care if they couldn’t save anyone else, they just wanted to be able to save you.
“Don’t you fucking do it!” Bakugou’s voice matched the time he had broken down in front of Midoriya. Tears welled up in Midoriya’s eyes and his voice followed his childhood friends. “Y/N! WE’RE COMING FOR YOU!”
Bakugou turned and looked toward the doorway leading into the school halls. He didn’t know what possessed him to rush through the doors rather than continue up the stairs, but he was grateful. He ran at the window as he heard Midoriya scream from the floor above. Bakugou rushed through the glass and he wasn’t the only one. Midoriya had kicked through the window and launched himself outside to try and catch you. Bakugou used his quirk to propel himself downward after you. Him and Midoriya moving at the same speed. Fire blasting behind Bakugou while Midoriya kept running along the side of the building. You were passing the floors faster and faster. Bakugou screamed using the full force of his quirk. His hand reached out and grabbed your ankle yanking backward to pull the top half of you closer. His hand gripped the back of your head pulling you into himself. He could see the ground getting closer and couldn’t use his quirk without letting go of you. He would have taken the damage but didn’t. He never hit the ground as Midoriya kicked off the building grabbing the two of you before pushing against the air. He broke through the fourth story window hitting the floor and tumbling through the glass. He had let go of Bakugou who was still holding you, his hand cradling your head against his chest as he took the force of hitting the floor and glass pushing through his sleep tank top. Both boys were breathing heavy their chest pounding harder than when they were running. Midoriya got up rushing to your side. Bakugou moved you away from his chest. Your chest rose and fell in a very slow manner. It was like you were sleeping. They were scared that when you woke up, you’d try again, you’d fight them for saving you. Or maybe you would be okay. Maybe you just needed to be saved to know that it was possible. Bakugou wouldn’t let go of you and Midoriya wouldn’t leave your side. His fingers stroking your hair. The two boys shared a quiet promise to not tell anyone about their sorry states. Bakugou was crying, his eyes bloodshot. Midoriya didn’t look any better, he had to keep wiping his nose and eyes on his hoodie sleeve. There was the distant sound of sirens and the dark room flashed with red and blue lighting from below. Bakugou stood up holding you in his arms. Midoriya took off his hoodie shaking the debris off it before laying over you. Bakugou and him stare at you before looking at each other. They could tell how much the other care for you. Bakugou scoffed before walking ahead. Midoriya smiled sadly walking beside him. His legs were throbbing and he could see the singe marks on Bakugou’s knuckles. They walked down the stairs in silence, no words being shared. Nothing could be said right now, you were safe for now and they just wanted you to be okay. Police, EMT’s, and a fire truck were parked outside. Your classmates stood off to the side behind tape, every one of them. Mr. Aizawa turned with All Might to look at the boys than down at you in Bakugou’s arms. The medical staff rushed forward but before they could try and take you Bakugou pulled the hand supporting your head free. It sparked and his snarl threatened them. Midoriya moved his hand to replace Bakugou’s against your head. The officers told Bakugou to back down and give you over. All Might and Mr. Aizawa approached.
“Young Bakugou, Young Midoriya. You got to her on time. We are so grateful; you both are heroes but now you have to hand her over so they can take her to the hospital.” Bakugou didn’t want to let you go and before he could Midoriya spoke up. “We made it on time to catch her. We didn’t make it on time to stop her. She jumped; we were just able to catch her.”
There was this tension as the realization seeped into the two adults’ minds. You had jumped and that changed things even more. The two boys knew you needed help, a lot more help and they were determined to get it for you. They knew that you couldn’t be magically cured and that this would take time but they had time and were willing to be there through it all. The two boys nodded at each other before handing you over to the EMT waiting. They watched them hook you onto a gurney lifting you into the ambulance and then you were gone. As you were wheeled to the vehicle your classmates behind the tape watched. They couldn’t believe that one of them had been hurting enough to do this. The girls were quiet do to them being the last ones to witness your breakdown. Uraraka was crying and rubbing her hands against her eyes. Sobs broke from her as she realized that she was the one who pushed you to do this. Mina screamed your name willing you to sit up and smile at her but you remained unconscious on the bed. She watched you get taking away and she cried out your name while the students around her cried too. They never wanted this and wished they had been there for you. The thing is though, you would never want them to blame themselves.
“Come on you all get back to the dorms.”  Mr. Aizawa ushered his students away leaving Midoriya and Bakugou to tell the police what had happened. Bakugou was aggressive toward the officer when he seemed to not care about your mental health. They made it seem like you were crazy. Even Midoriya had to argue for your sake. They both left with All Might. They wanted to go to the hospital but only family was allowed to see you. All Might promised the boys that he would take them to see you as soon as you were allowed to have visitors. There was also a chance you wouldn’t want people to see you, or that you’d be considered a threat to others and yourself and be locked up.
While everyone dealt with this heart ache and remorse you rested peacefully for once. Not even aware that you hadn’t succeeded.
