Only Friends End Cards and Chronology

I saw this post in the Only Friends tag and it made me wonder: Are the end cards with the characters chronological to the episode they're attached to? Since I'm tracking them as part of my observations into the narrative frameworks of the show, this is something I wanted to explore. So I went to check them out again.

I absolutely think @jenyifer is onto something with this. We put our heads together and looked at the end cards again; if you look at the clothes each character is wearing, the end cards are NOT chronological.

Episode 1: Mew

Mew is wearing the shirt he wears to the pool party at the hostel in episode 3 and that he has on at the beginning of episode 4 when Ray picks him up. We think this might be pre-pool party at the hostel, waiting for Top to pick him up. Maybe contemplating his relationship...

Episode 2 & 4: Ray

It's a bit hard to see, but we're pretty sure Ray is wearing the bowling shirt from episode 4. Our theory is this is post dropping Sand off with his bike and driving home, maybe thinking about him. Also, Ray is the only repeat so far and it's unclear why.

Episode 3: Nick

As @jenyifer pointed out, Nick is wearing the shirt from episode 5. We're like 90% sure this is the hostel. We don't think it's Sand and Nick's apartment. It's not Boston's house as far as we can tell. We're speculating that this occurs around the same time Mew calls Boston about having sex with Top - Boston is still at the hostel with Nick; we think Nick might be in the other room torturing himself with the sex audio. Then they go to Nick's and have cursed birthday party #1.

Episode 5: Sand

This one also seems to be post episode 4, after picking up his bike at the shop. This is the outfit Sand wore in the record store. Thinking about Ray, maybe?

Episode 6: Top

This one is difficult, LOL, because Top is naked and looks like he might be crying. Having said that, looking behind Top at the window, we do get context possibly - it looks like it's raining. We are tentatively placing this end card with episode 3 because that is the only episode where it has rained and Top would be upset about something. Top is in the bath, potentially crying over sleeping with Boston (which, if we're right, OUCH).

What this seems to mean, is at least so far, episodes 1, 2, and 6 have no correlating end card. It will be interesting to see if we get end cards that go back to those episodes. Episode 3 seems to have two (TopMew), and episode 4 has three (Sand and both of Ray's since Ray's are the same one). Episode 5 has just the one so far.

rewatched kny and am suffering from tanjiro trio brainrot

Still can't get over the fact that after a year (two?) with the Empire, Scorch makes commander while Boss led one of the top commando squads for three years with the Republic and never got promoted passed sergeant.

#republic commando #honestly i've got an entire headcanon regarding commandos' lack of upward mobility in the ranks #originally they were organized to serve directly under the jedi and commanders would exist in a parallel hierarchy to infantry #which they still did mostly #but after losing half their number on geonosis and realizing the jedi didn't know what to do with them they had a massive restructuring #only a couple divisions- like kenobi's -got commando squads but to ensure they were deployed properly they needed their own officers #so clones like gregor were taken from the command track and crosstrained as commandos #i imagine first gen commandos have very mixed feelings about this because suddenly outsiders are in charge of them? #and scorch and fixer and sev resent it because on one hand boss was absolutely wasted as a sergeant #on the other hand they looked at a fucking alpha-arc-desk-jockey captain maze and knew boss would be even more wasted off the field #trying to imagine scorch's reaction to his meteoric rise in rank suddenly leading hundreds of commandos and TKs and no foreseeable fieldwor #'no! how could they do this to me the great and loveable scorch!' #sev would find it hilarious that they gave scorch that much responsibility but also #he went mia as a private and now the others are all officers what the fuck #probably would've been more hilarious if scorch hadn't already been on the verge of snapping from ptsd and having abandoned a brother #and knowing fixer and boss are held hostage to keep him in line just as he knows he's a hostage to keep them in line (headcanon) #these tags are now novels #i just have a lot of thoughts about commandos okay?

I am constantly scared of horror movies to the point that I make an effort to not watch them but the passion you have for them makes me want to watch one and expand my horizons. Any horror recommendations for someone who gets spooked easily? I’m fine with gore btw it’s more like realistic anxiety situations scare me like stuff that has to do with being kidnapping/feeling trapped. Have a wonderful night <3

Aw this is so sweet, I'm glad you're wanting to expand your horizons and I'm honored to be your guide! I think you'd enjoy more comedy horror, cheesy horror and horror that is more monster based. I can recommend some horror you could handle but I'd definitely stay away from movies like Saw, Hostel, The Black Phone and others like those.

I'd also recommend watching the trailers for these recommendations just so you can get a taste of them before you dive right in. I hope you enjoy trying out some horror! 🖤

Little Shop of Horrors (1986) its a musical! Rick Moranis is amazing as a guy who gets an alien plant that has an unusual appetite

The Monster Squad (1987) some nerdy horror fans have to save their town from classic monsters that show up

Night of the Living Dead (1968) a zombie movie with minimal scares and an important marker in horror history!

They Live (1988) An alien movie with reflections on society

The Lost Boys (1987) California vampires. that's pretty much it

Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) another musical! campy, fun and queer as hell. one of my favorite movies in the whole world.

Re-Animator (1985) a lil science dude gets his roommate to help him bring people back to life [there is a sexual assault scene towards the end just fyi]

Evil Dead 2 & Army of Darkness (1987 & 1992) Bruce Campbell as a dude who can't catch a break. possessions, time travel, chainsaws, and catchphrases you'll be saying forever

Ginger Snaps (2000) a girl werewolf movie!! sisterhood, puberty, and some awesome special effects

Trick 'r Treat (2007) follow the rules of halloween or a cute lil guy will come and kill you. love this one so so much! also fun intertwined stories

Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) one of my favorite movies! clowns, cotton candy, 2 dudes and 1 girl with a whole lot of chemistry flowing between then and a giant clown boss

Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (1988) Elvira's her usual beautiful campy self in a movie where she deals with a small town, an old wizard dude and a show in Vegas

Scream (1996) a slightly realistic slasher movie that pokes fun at horror movies and fans. a great cast and ofc the iconic costume

Beetlejuice [and honestly a lot of Tim Burton movies]

Any/All of the Universal Monster movies [Frankenstein, Dracula, The Invisible Man, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Wolf Man]

Jennifer's Body (2009) A girl gets possessed and hunts down boys while her best friend tries to stop her. queer undertones, awesome leads and iconic lines

Zombieland (2009) a fun silly zombie movie with an awesome cast

Willy's Wonderland (2021) starring Nicholas Cage as a stranger who comes to town and has to deal with some silly possessed animatronics [big five nights at Freddy's vibes]

Dave Made A Maze (2017) a guy who's lost in life builds an insane labyrinth in his living room and it comes to life. such a good movie mixing horror, comedy and life lessons

Honestly Daigo's situation immediately after Y3 is so fucked. He's just watched his closest friend/love interest jump off a roof to his death, then Hamazaki stabs Kiryu and I can only assume Daigo had a scare there too when he heard (though not as bad as poor Haruka). And at what point does he hear about Kashiwagi? God no wonder he was desperate to at least save the clan in Y4 when he's just experienced the worst time of his life. (unless he's privy to both Mine and Kashiwagi’s survival ig but even then they're both probably like in a coma or at least extremely hospitalised at that point and that would be bad enough)

like sure just cause someones Going Through It doesn't give a lot of warranty to muck about but y4 takes place hardly a year after y3: the dude hasnt even had a full year to process what the fucks happened on top of still wanting to make kiryu proud

to say man was probably under immense pressure and general duress, this was probably the lowest point for him. even that can be an insane understatement, so i cant blame him all too much for fumbling and tripping when no one even tries to help him and he's supposed to appear strong despite everyone around him constantly doubting him and being on the cusp of betraying him ☠️
