There’s so much food happening at my house because, you know, Thanksgiving. So dinners for the last couple of days have been a bit disorganized. Last night we had potatoes for dinner. Also some veggies. Enough for me! These were so good: boil about 2 dozen baby potatoes (in skin) until soft. Drain and press them down on a board until moderately smashed. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil and 1-2 tablespoons butter in a (best is cast iron)pan and when the butter melts, add the potatoes. Sprinkle with salt and freshly chopped rosemary. That’s it! Cook the potatoes, turning them occasionally, for maybe 15 minutes or until they’re crispy. I cannot be the only person out there that doesn’t like mashed potatoes. 🥞🥞🥞 Brunch at @thelakefrontrestchi last weekend. I’ve mentioned I’m a big fan of brunch. My dream is to own another restaurant that I call Brunch and just serve brunch all day. In all honesty, I’ll orobabbly never have another restaurant-they’re a lot of work! For now cooking for the community and an occasional event serves me well. I love everything about eating our, tho. I love the first impression, the tone, the choices like dinnerware and floral arrangements. I love the creativity of a good menu. I love staff enthusiasms. I love good conversation over long meals with lovely people. And of course, I love the food. I love the choices a chef makes, the ingredients they choose, the taste profile, the presentation, the nutritional considerations. I love all of it. Sunday I had Sausage Toast, a bowl of pesto on ciabatta with sausage, smashed potatoes an over-east egg, topped with arugula. It’s like this meal was made for me. @slimzadie had the. Churro French Toast. Light and crispy with a delightful flavor, both my mom and I each had a sweet bite as a compliment to our savory bowls. This day was a delight and I will definitely make it a regular spot when I’m in town.
