So we know Benn Beckman took Kid's arm, right? And we know Benn did and does use a rifle (okay, technically he mostly uses it as a club on screen, but here is to assuming he does fire it every now and again) Now, of course, I have no idea if a rifle would be strong enough to separate someone's arm from their body or hurt it enough that it needs to be amputated but this is One Piece, so I'm just gonna assume.
Anyway, what I am saying is: Do we think Benn used his rifle to take Kid's arm and as a follow up: Do we think Kid had to use his own powers to clean the shrapnel from the wound?

I d̶o̶n̶'̶t want to | {ShinoGiyuu}
Tumblr media
Theme: Fluffy angst?
Note: Prompt—"I can't fall in love with you. I don't want all the pain that comes with it." I love angst prompts- This one fit Giyuu well sooo
Manga spoilers kinda 🤩
and i think yk what that means~
Giyuu was in love. For the first time in so many years. And he couldn't seem to get himself out of this stupid thing. Whenever he saw her, his eyes would light up and butterflies lit up his chest, beating his heart faster than it should be. He tried suppressing it, tried everything.
He tried writing out everything annoying about her, everything he hated, but he kept drawing blank after writing the first word, not knowing anything about her that was negative or bad.
He tried ignoring her but he found himself constantly wandering back to her, gazing at butterflies because they reminded him of her.
He tried convincing himself that love was a waste of time, it wouldn't help. He made himself think about everything that could go wrong but his mind wandered back to the fact that he loved her—he loved her too much to care.
It was hard.
He wanted her. Too much.
But he couldn't have her. He didn't want... to endanger her. He didn't want anything bad to happen to her.
So all he could do was try—try—to not gain her love back. He wanted it so badly but he couldn't bring himself to do it. If he couldn't fall out of love, might as well make sure she didn't love him.
So he ignored her. Acted cold, uncaring. Even went out of his way to talk to every other Hashira except her. Even Sanemi.
But... she kept coming back. She was persistent.
Her smile was curious and asking, wondering why he wouldn't talk to her. She would ask him questions, pester her day after day, not caring that he wouldn't talk back to her. Because he never told her to leave. Even if he acted like this, he'd never once told her to leave.
He didn't want to. He couldn't make himself shout at her, or say anything mean. So he stayed quiet.
And yet she persisted. She didn't stop. Never did.
He loved that about her. He wished he didn't.
And one day... one day, she told him something. Something that made him freeze up, his mind drawing blank, scared. No, not scared. But his heart raced and his face flushed and he turned to look at her, actually, physically acknowledge her.
"What?"
She smiled. "I like you." She said it so simply but to his ears it was a melody, a song. She spoke like an angel, her smile and her eyes and her... everything. It was angelic.
He didn't know what to say. He stared at her for a long time, trying to think of something.
But then she turned, humming to herself, and skipped off. She didn't seem disappointed by his lack of response.
Perhaps his appearence had been obvious that he repricated her feelings.
And he was left there, by himself, staring in wonder at the girl he loved so dearly. The one who had just told him that she loved him.
He found himself falling deeper in love.
When she spoke to him, he would give her a slight smile or a nod. Would respond to her questions with a short assent or a shake of the head. He wanted her to be happy. He didn't want her to think he liked her, though she probably guessed. So he didn't speak. He only... acknowledged her.
Which seemed to be enough for her for she began talking a lot more, eating lunch with him when she could and taking her time to give him things, small gifts.
He began giving some back, feeling almost guilty if he didn't.
They wrote letters.
He kept his short and careful, not wanting her to think anything of them. Hoping she wouldn't mind if he didn't write anything so elaborate or exciting as her own.
It was something he began looking forward to.
She noticed.
She asked him, one day, something. Something that made him freeze so similarly to that one day but in a way that wasn't quite so wonderful.
"Do you like me?"
He couldn't say yes. He couldn't nod. If he did, she was bound to die. Everyone he got close to died. Because of him. He was always so incapable of helping. Saving.
Somehow, he saved people's lives. Everyone's lives except the people that mattered most to him.
He just stared at her. And for a long moment, he didn't know what to do.
She looked confused, not able to read his expression.
And then she left.
She looked disappointed. Her posture wasn't the lively one it had been the other day.
It was almost sad, confused.
She stopped seeing him as much.
She began eating with him less and less. Her gifts were less thought out and she just handed them to him with a short, "Hello" and then a "goodbye."
Her letters drew shorter and shorter until they were only a few sentences.
He didn't know what to do. He'd fucked up somehow and he didn't know what the hell he had to do.
He tried talking to her more.
His letters were filled with apologies, his gifts were flowers and chocolates suddenly, little notes of 'I'm so sorry,' again and again and again.
When he got hurt, Aoi was put to the task of helping him.
She never did it anymore. Her previous smiles and laughter and talk weren't given to him anymore. He would try to offer them back to her but his attempts probably seemed pitiful compared to how wonderful she'd been. She still was. But not to him anymore.
He would catch her smiling as she spoke to someone else. But as soon as her eyes landed on him, her whole expression seemed to melt away. She would suddenly look weary, tired. As if she didn't know what to do.
He felt like as she always looked around him too.
And then something happened.
Something that made him realize that he should've told her. Should've explained everything.
He stood above her grave.
It was raining; fitting to his mood. At least it hid his tears.
He stared at the stone with her name etched in it, looking stupid and horrible compared to her lovely smiles, her beautiful looks.
But they were all gone. All of what was left of them were in his memories, replayed over and over, each day getting dimmer and dimmer with age.
He placed the flowers he'd brought down. Wisteria. Purple like her eyes. Representing the flowers she'd constantly use when she'd been alive.
And then roses. Red like the love he'd felt for her, red like the danger that flashed before her a moment before her death. Representing the flowers he'd given to her as he'd tried to get her to talk to him again.
He stared at the plants. They were dead too. He'd cut them off of their original bushes and now they were dead. Because of him.
He sank to a crouch in front of her gravestone, his eyes fluttering close.
"I'm so sorry," he whispered, the words he'd spoken and written and begged of her to understand for weeks before her death. "I'm so sorry, Shinobu."
{Word count: 1193}
Anyone notice how I didn't use their names at all except in the very first word and very last?<3
If you did then wow bc I was half way through writing this when I realized I'd not used either of their names throughout most of it-
I loved writing this :0
dk why LMFAO
i rarely write ShinoGiyuu so

The explosion (Zakiko & Yuzuki's reactions) (Demon slayer) (MASSIVE manga spoilers!!!)
Tumblr media
Since Ado is Zakiko's Japanese voice, I can only imagine my girl going off on this one She's already a good screamer from her songs, I'm sure she would kill it with voice acting Zakiko, especially on this panel On the 8th panel, read from right to left
All of the text is 100% Zakiko talking
Is it sacrilegious of me to take a panel from the official manga cuz I was too lazy to draw all of that? Cuz you can obviously tell I screenshotted that panel from the Manga XDDD
So, it's pretty self explanatory, but I'm explaining it anyway! When they get the emergency summonce because of Muzan confronting Kagaya, Yuzuki & Zakiko are the most scared for him since they are the closest to him. This is mostly based off of some C.AI stuff, but they were actually able (consensually, of course) to hug him. So, they're both terrified for their master just as much as the rest of the hashira. Zakiko is the most scared out of her & Yuzuki & the entire time she's booking it back to his estate, she's repeatedly saying "Master Ubuyashiki! Gotta protect Master Ubuyashiki!" in her head over & over. When the estate explodes, Yuzuki is petrified & this was the final breaking point for Zakiko due to already losing & outliving everyone else she loves. So, she yells out to him, but instead of saying something like Ubuyashiki, she actually yells out his actual name "Kagaya" instead. As if that part of the Manga couldn't get any sadder. Not only that, but he's the last person she wanted to lose, so now that he blew himself up, she lost any spark she had for life & just wanted to be put to rest. & it also shows more of who Zakiko truly is instead of crude, standoff-ish, & violent. So, this panel humanizes her to the readers alot more than you think
You can tell this is my first time drawing Kagaya. Hope I did him justice, cuz a precious angel like him deserves it
You can also tell I'm in an angsty mood just from this. I got more ideas for some KNY angst, too, don't think it's just this one ----------------------------------------------------- Zakiko Shibata & Yuzuki Kyoshi by: Me
Kagaya Ubuyashiki from: Demon slayer
Demon slayer by: Koyoharu Gotouge
Do not steal, trace or copy. (Cuz this took way too long)

Enji Todoroki, A (more) Visual Analysis.
Okay, hear me out on this...
Enji is an interesting case for me, I absolutely ADORE how horikoshi draws Endeavor, and honestly I wanna talk about how I kind of analyzed his moments in life, and how his expressions correlate with his mental state.
This is long btw. And probably a little all over the place and I don't actually know how coherent it is so bear with me on this-
The youngest we see Enji is when his dad died, staring in stunned silence as he watches his father die alongside a girl he tried to save. Enji was probably around thirteen at the time if I had to guess. Due to his more rounder features. This was the starting point for Endeavor, his origin. Something that he had carried with him throughout his entire life.
When he entered UA, his expression was stoic, not showing much emotion, even when talking to his older self. He wasn't taking pleasure in mocking him, he looks disappointed. Looking down on what he had become, Looking down on his older self like a parent would a young delinquent. You can still completely see his face, because he was still Enji at the time, even if the time was still ticking, even if he was slowly deteriorating, his face not completely covered in shadow, or in flames.
Throughout his younger life we never really saw Enji with his flames, not on his face at least. Before he married Rei he still had that stoic expression, with furrowed brows making it take on the image of disintrest or impatience. Though we do see times where he doesn't have this stoic look..
Like when he noticed Rei looking at a specific type of flower, asking if she liked them. His expression lightened up, not as intense as before. Showing that he hadn't fully become 'Endeavor' at this point in time.
This stoic expression followed him until things had officially spiraled out of control. Before, he seemed to be the type to occasionally show some sort of interest, we even saw him genuinely smile when training Touya. Enji isn't someone good at emotions, both his own and others. Taking on a stoic persona for most of his life and bottling up his emotions. Though even at this time, we didn't see him constantly use his flames to mimic facial hair at this point.
Not until everything finally reached a tipping point that is. At multiple times in the flashback, we see Endeavor with his faced covered in shadow, darkened by his obsession, his expression angry. Using his anger as a way to 'cope' with his losses. To make himself seem stronger, to hide his weakness. His stability and his sense of self started breaking apart because all he was started to be consumed by his obsession, and even if he was still trying to be a good father, he wasn't able to. The way he was practically pleading and yelling with Touya to give up, showing just how unstable he was becoming. More and more his face is becoming hidden by shadows, looking more like a demon than a man.
The official death of Enji is when the shadows no longer decorated his face, instead replaced by flames. Flames to intimidate, flames to blind. his flames blinding him and anyone who tries to look closer at the remnents of 'Enji'
Turning from a rather calm, though anger prone man to a prideful and obsessive monster with a constant scowl. Barely if ever turning off his quirk, buring himself in his work, buring himself in his new identity to hide from himself. No longer is he the same man who would take interest in his family, to mention his wifes favorite flowers, because by this point, he is his work, first and formost. He is no longer a father, he is a product of his own insecurities, hidden behind a mask of flames. The only smiles he can produce are ones of excessive pride in himself, not of genuine happiness for others, or even himself.
That is... Until All mights retirement. No longer can he hide behind his work like he had before. No longer can he hold onto this false sense of Identity he crafted from failure. Shadow covering his face in a similar way it had when everything had first started to spiral after hearing the news...
The next time we see him, he's wearing that same scowl, and that same inauthentic smile. Though, that's before he had sat down and talked with All might. When he did, his expression seemed to become almost softer, back to that more stoic expression he had in his past. Now, for this expression I don't know how exactly to describe it. Though the best I got is annoyance, he's annoyed by the fact he couldn't earn the title of number one, by wanting to truly be number one, for who he was.
And when All might had asked him why being the strongest was so important, his expression was more light. He didn't have that same stoic-expression he usually had when he was younger, or the scowl he always had now. Slowly coming to a realization.. When he spoke to Shoto, his eyes had a shine to them, determined to live up to his words.. And finally, smiling genuinely for the first time since losing himself to his obsession.
Though, it wouldn't be till the battle with hood that Enji would truly come back. There were sparks of him throughout the two episodes. The way his expression was stoic once more, his eyes now filled with a determination to atone for what he had done, for what he had caused.
Before his fight with hood, we can see more of who Enji actually is. A socially awkward, and honestly, extremely socially unaware individual. Someone who has to work to not only fix his mistakes, but to actually rebuild himself from the ground up. To figure out who he truly is as a person, and not just as a job.
And through his battle with hood, after getting striked in the face, which could've potentially destroyed his left eye, he still stubbornly fought through the pain, the fight, ironically, opening his eyes in a way that hadn't happened before. Noticing the similarities between himself and the nomu, noting how just like him, the nomu was obsessed with strength, just like he was... And as he burnt away the nomu while using the school motto he had always hated, he had offically burned away what was left of Endeavor as well, and in his place, Enji stood victorious. A new beginning, for Enji, and for everyone else.
All throughout season five, his expressions are back to the way it was before. Stoic, though different from his past stoicness. No longer harboring that obsession that seeped through his every thought. That previous obsession replaced by determination, A new Endeavor.
Replacing his old obsession with a new goal, a goal of atonement. something that he may have to spend the rest of his life to achieve, and even then he may never achieve true atonement. But unlike his obsession to be number one, this goal wont fall into his lap, this one is something He'll have to earn, no matter the imposibility of it, and he won't stop trying. After all, Enji is a stubborn man, an extremely stubborn man.
Enji has went through many changes in his life, from a scarred kid, to a demon of a man. Though his stubbornness never changed. He's not the same Endeavor as he was previously. No longer a superhero, a job, or an arrogant monster.
He's a person, A stoic man who takes interest in the lives of others from time to time, a man who remembers something said only once, a man who is slowly rebuilding himself from scratch to fix his own misdeeds.
he is imperfectly human.

do you have any particular thoughts regarding marcille being a half-elf? its interesting to me considering the fact that she seems self-conscious about being a half-elf, but denies it when its brought up
i remember marcille looking visibly uncomfortable over laios simply asking her how old she is, which i think the only reason she might feel nervous about this is because it might reveal her as a half-elf to him.
she's never corrected anybody whose called her an elf either.
never mind the circumstances of the reveal, in which thistle goes on about how half-elves are inferior and accusing her of wanting to become full blooded elf, she seemed particularly upset like he struck a nerve-
i wish the half-elf thing was built upon more. also, underrated marcille line:
Tumblr media
okay so i revisited this sequence just to make sure I could back myself up and it's just... man. there's a lot going on.
the first reaction we get from Marcille is this huge panel that takes up half of the page
Tumblr media
she is viscerally affected. flushing to the tips of her ears with the intensity of it. and we see it again, a few pages later
Tumblr media
so it might seem like she's embarrassed about it and lying to herself, but... I really think it's just that Thistle is accidentally hitting sore spots. If you really look at what he says to get these reactions
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"you'll live out your entire life [...] and die that way too"
"a hundred years from now, nobody will be there"
Hear me out. I think, if he stuck to harping on about her inferiority without bringing up how terrifyingly long-lived she is, she wouldn't have been as bothered. But right now, Thistle is accidentally hitting all the marks on Marcille's deepest fears-- and this is after the Winged Lion promised her that her dreams could come true in an extremely vulnerable moment, so it also hits her slightly guilty conscience as well.
I do truly believe that Marcille isn't bothered about being a half-elf the way that people assume she'd be bothered by it. To her, the biggest problem with being a half-elf is that it's isolating.
On one hand, it's not hard to imagine why she'd distance herself from elves in the west. A lot of them can clock her as a half-elf on sight, unlike other races, and therefore she's always branded with this weird stigma of being Othered -- I would even say that she considers herself lucky for being born outside of elven culture instead of having to grow up in it. I mean, just... look at the way elves talk about her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Skipping past the uncomfortable implication of what 'not tolerating the existence' of half-elves would actually entail, this is incredibly fucking annoying. You can see why she wouldn't want to be around elves much. You see a lot of Marcille reacting badly here, but honestly, almost all of it can be attributed to her freaking out that her bluff completely failed. She's honestly more paying attention to Izutsumi's footsteps and trying to coordinate an opportunity to escape.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And in the end, you see her built-up frustration at being asked if she wants to be a full-blooded elf like 2-3 times in a row.
Tumblr media
Yeah, yeah, "the lady doth protest too much," and all. But we know Marcille. We know that she's a lot more embarrassed and horrendously unconvincing when she's being prodded about something she's actually self-conscious about.
Moving onto the flipside of things, it might seem weird that she "pretends" to be a full elf around other races, but it's not really that strange if you think about it. Again, people are weird about her being infertile or whatever, and a lots of them don't even know much about what sets half-elves apart from everyone else. I mean, look at how uncomfortable Laios is just asking her about it
Tumblr media
and look at how exasperated and resigned she looks
Tumblr media
And like... she's right. Where would that come up in normal conversation? Why would she go out of her way to tell them? She's functionally a normal elf to other races anyway -- got the ears, the abnormally long "childhood", and the huge mana capacity. Unless it's directly relevant or important for people to know, I don't think it's all that strange or indicative of insecurity that she prefers not to bother with it.
(This combined with her sense of being an "outsider" to elf culture also explains why she thinks elf superiority is embarrassing. She sees the way elves treat short-lived races from the "outsider" perspective nonetheless, and thinks it's obnoxious; especially more so because she usually has to play the elf around short-lived races and deal with the reputation of arrogance that elves have built up.)
The sad thing is, this all means that... she doesn't actually fit in anywhere. She doesn't like going out West much because of how elves treat her. But she's also an outsider in the continents she was born in, treated like this exotic long-lived alien choosing to live among short-lived races for some reason. She is always an outsider, the Other, no matter where she goes. Add in the fact that she'll live longer than literally anyone she knows, and it's honestly kind of heartbreaking.
And I think that's the crux of it. Marcille really doesn't act like she's at all self-conscious about being a half-elf because of any feelings of inferiority or being half-made or whatever. She considers herself a perfectly legitimate being and might even, in some ways, consider herself superior to normal elves because she's not blind with elf supremacy or whatever. (And whatever "elven biases" she displays, all of them are born more out of the fact that she's kind of bad at conceptualizing how other races age and mature compared to herself, not that she actually considers herself better or more mature simply for being an elf.)
I think that whatever self-consciousness Marcille has about being a half-elf is, instead, related to terror and loneliness. The reminder that it ensures she'll never truly belong anywhere for the rest of her very long life. The reminder that, in truth, even she's not actually sure how old she is by other races' standards (hence the discomfort when asked how old she is). She doesn't want to not be a half elf, or be a full elf or full tall-man-- in her ideal world, she's still a half-elf. She just gets to live out her life at the same pace with the people she loves and doesn't have to say goodbye again and again and again until she dies.
and one last very important panel, right after Mithrun tells her that all her desires would be devoured
Tumblr media
In her ideal world, she's still a half-elf and reality magically starts marching at her pace. But failing that, the second best thing is that she's still a half-elf-- but one who is able to accept reality and let go of her fear.
(But the rest of the story pans out the way it does because, to Marcille, taking reality apart and reshaping it was less scary than simply and fully reconciling with it.)
#asks#dungeon meshi manga spoilers#marcille donato#manga panel analysis#this is probably riddled with typos sorry#readmore cut bc it got long lmao#i ended up babbling about it bc it's such an important character detail to me#bc like... wow. she's so normal about it. she's literally just chilling.#the only thing that really bothers her is the material reality of it and how people treat her#the stereotypes the stigma etc. etc.#otherwise it just..#literally doesn't factor into her criteria for self-worth at all#the basic truth is that marcille likes herself on a fundamental level#she's not plagued by a deep and festering self-loathing the way a lot of characters in her archetype are#she likes herself and is proud of her successes and accomplishments#its just that shes terrified of failure and can have *episodes* of self-loathing when she fucks up#but who doesn't yknow#i know its a very slight nuance that makes very little difference in how her 'overachiever' problems manifest but its there#the sword of abandonment issues that hangs over her head has nothing to do with her self-worth or self-esteem or meeting her own standards#it has to do with the fear of not living up to *other* people's expectations and not being useful enough to be worth keeping around#she's good enough for herself but she's always so so so scared that she's not good enough for other people#i wont say much about what ryoko kui is saying using this as an allegory for real world racial biases but#dungeon meshi's treatment of marcille's relationship with her being half-elf is so incredibly important to me because it gets it so right.#a trauma about inferiority or being a half-being isn't inherent to the experience of being 'of two worlds' at all#that's something that's unfairly drilled into people by their environment#the *inherent* anguish is the loneliness. the constant longing. the fact that you are always homesick no matter where you are#always just a little bit of an outsider and never fully at home#and dungeon meshi gets that.#edit: cleaned it up a little

I have this headcanon that Tomura would copy things Izuku did to him as a way to show comfort/reassurance
Say Izuku were upset over smthg. Tomura would either try to hold his hand OR do a forehead bump (the latter probably being more likely), because Izuku did that to him and it's what calmed HIM down, so the same might work for Izuku

CG!Kurogiri Headcanons
(with multiple regressors)
Tumblr media
After the war, there were many, many things that needed to be fixed and sorted. Societal structures concerning crime, justice, and people. Once the dust settles from the second war that already near-insurmountable list of things somehow only managed to increase. And Kurogiri—Oboro?—just so happened to be one of those things that needed sorting out. All of the villains fall onto the list technically, but he's...a special case. A special case that is infinitely complicated thanks to the fact that Oboro has finally been "reawakened", leading to the two personas within him to begin to merge into something new. Not only is the change metaphysical, but it is becomes exceedingly apparent that it's a physical one as well—the omnipresent smoke surrounding his body finally begins to recede, at first only in patches but soon enough there is no denying who is under all that mist once it becomes more controllable. Which is exactly where the issue comes in in regards to his innocence, and more specifically what should be done about him. Or with any of the villains for that matter. Locking them away in Tartarus obviously didn't work (not that the place is even remotely functional anymore), and the people demand a system reform, so what does that leave? Why, a shiny new villain rehabilitation program! A program that Kurogiri qualifies for no problem, and a program that really allows him to try and figure out who he is now. Bridging the gap between Kurogiri and Oboro is both harder and easier than he expects, but finding common ground helps. One of the strongest things that seems to be a constant between the two? His ability and desire to care for others! That caregiving instinct wasn't something that AFO and the doctor could drive out of him, and instead actively used once it became apparent that it wasn't going away. So once he reaches a certain milestone in his rehabilitation program and is cleared for it, he starts acting as a cg again!
The decision isn't one without its own challenges, no matter how eager he is to regain some sense of agency over his interpersonal relationships. Primarily because that caregiving instinct is pulling him in a couple different directions. But as Tomura is still undergoing rehabilitation (and medical treatment, due to what his body went through during the war), one direction starts to pull more strongly given that it is both more readily available and encouraged by several outside sources (namely his therapists and the newly restructured Hero Commission). That direction of course being Shouta. And it isn't as if he hasn't been spending time with him; he's been by his side for all of this, even before he started remembering things. There's a lot of discussion beforehand that sees to Shouta middlespacing by the end of it, but it's decided that they both would like to try sharing that space with one another again and that it would be beneficial for both of them. In the safety and seclusion of Shouta and Hizashi's apartment, it's all too easy to slip back into habits thought long forgotten. And as Shouta clings to him, he can't help but feel he's regained another part of himself as he strokes a hand through coarse black curls. During this Hizashi acts as a mediator of sorts just to keep everybody safe and happy, but it doesn't take Oboro more than a moment to piece together that he must have stepped in to fulfill that cg role for Shouta after his "accident". Something is a little off though, something he can't quite place yet, about the way Hizashi can so easily get on Shouta's level in a way that he himself cannot. But it's sweet to watch how easily Hizashi can take his hand and lead him towards the kitchen with an excited if not somewhat conspiratorial whisper that earns him a soft giggle and a nod, and so Oboro doesn't question it too hard (nor does he mind giving them a headstart on whatever trouble they're up to).
It takes far longer than he would like, but after several months Kurogiri is finally given the opportunity to reconnect with Tomura. He has received updates on his recovery, sure, but Tomura wasn't allowed contact with anyone other than his doctors. After everything AFO has put him through mentally and physically, the poor boy is left feeling raw and wrung-out. These feelings in turn lend to Tomura spending a lot of time regressed more often than not, occupying a sleepy babyspace. And the only thing he really wants now that everything is all said and done is his papa. It's more than enough to tug at Kurogiri's heartstrings, and it's also more than enough to spurn him into asking for something out of pure self interest. Because he wants to help. Making such requests is still something he is trying to be more proactive about as part of his own ongoing recovery, and he wants more than anything to be a part of Tomura's recovery too. And once all the legal red tape is out of the way, he's approved for visiting hours! Much like how one might go visit a kitten at a shelter that they are planning to adopt once it is old enough, Kurogiri gets to visit Tomura periodically until he can be cleared to come home—because with help from Hizashi and Shouta, Kurogiri has been working on making a space that Tomura can call home. And every time he visits he makes sure to bring Tomura a small treat, taking note of anything that the boy seems to really like and cross-referencing it with the small list he used to keep when it was his purpose to mind after him, not his choice. He finds there are things he's adding to that list now that it is his choice, things that were filtered out before for being "unnecessary"—things like stuffies when he notices how Tomura tends to hug onto a throw pillow, or pacis when he sees that he still sucks on his sleeve when he's nervous. Which he seems to be doing a lot of, though understandably. His papa looks a bit different than he remembers, after all! Is more open with his emotions, too. But Kurogiri is sure to reassure him that while some things have changed, the fact that he cares deeply for him is something that has not and never will change.
To continue with the kitten analogy, once Tomura does get to come home there are some challenges. Challenges that primarily take the form of "let the kittens sniff each other through the door so they can get used to each other". Even Oboro knows it won't go perfectly smoothly, though that recovered optimism of his is hopeful. And it isn't as if Shouta hadn't had time to get used to the idea—he and Hizashi both had went with Kurogiri to visit Tomura a couple of times even!—but it's different once it's happening. They both know that Tomura wouldn't do anything to hurt them now. But suddenly he feels like maybe it's asking too much of Kurogiri, and he thinks him and Zashi have been fine on their own for a really long time now and, and... And it only takes the one occurrence of him and Tomura being regressed at the same time for any worries like that to be forgotten. Oboro doesn't play favorites and makes that abundantly clear from the start. If one gets something, then so does the other. It helps that both boys seem to fall within the same regression range as well. Their first "sniffing each other through the door" regression session consisting of getting them both comfortable on a cozy blanket pallet in front of the TV and putting on some baby sensory videos for them to doze off to, bottles of chocolate milk and vanilla milk given to the correct baby (because Oboro has his little ones' personal preferences down pat!). Hizashi even helps make sure things go well, which means the world to Oboro. He brings Tomura his stuffed bunny before settling down next to Shouta, sitting criss-cross applesauce as he hands him his Chococat and pulls him into his lap for a hug—an act that Oboro finds endearing of not a little overprotective.
Although this brings us to the fact that there is one little piece of the puzzle that Kurogiri really, really should have connected sooner. And that is that he doesn't have two babies on his hands, but three. As it turns out, Hizashi was filling a cg role for Shouta like he had thought—on occasion, that is, when Nemuri wasn't available. Other times however, he was filling the role of playmate! While Oboro is a bit hurt that Hizashi would keep that from him for as long as he did, he can understand why. Regressing wasn't something Hizashi did before, and it was something he was trying to do less of after they lost Nemuri (at his own detriment). Plus it wasn't as if he was hiding it totally! In hindsight he realizes Hizashi had been middlespacing a lot as if to test the waters. He was good at getting on Shouta's level (and later Tomura's) because he was close to it himself! Oboro can see now that he's been playing the part of his little helper more than that of his fellow cg. Though Hizashi is the master of maintaining a persona, even he can't always hide those little slips. Everything clicks into place during one such little slip when they are having playtime that he notices the blonde's fidgety fingers, the longing look he is giving to the blocks the other two are playing with, the way he chews at his bottom lip as if to distract himself from wanting more than he thinks he deserves. And Kurogiri can relate to that feeling of wanting more but needing permission. Tentatively he finds himself ruffling Hizashi's hair, afraid he might be making a mistake with the way he tenses up but pushing forward regardless. Low voice quietly telling him Go on, why don't you play too? I think they would like that. It's okay, you know. Those words being all the encouragement Hizashi truly needed to let go, to go somewhere decidedly smaller. And Oboro takes in all the subtle and not-so-subtle changes, like the way his words run together and the way he bounces in place. Falling in that toddlerspace range means he's a lot more high energy than Tomura or Shouta, but Kurogiri knows he can handle it.
Three babies spells trouble for poor, poor Oboro however. Not that they always regress at the same time (though it turns out it's rare that Hizashi and Shouta don't regress at the same time), but when they do? Trouble. So much trouble. It's the Hizashi factor. Because Tomura and Shouta? Sleepy babies 85% of the time, no troublemaking there. It's when Hizashi gets thrown into the mix that great incidents of baby mischief occur. Shouta is always eager to follow his lead, and it's only too easy to get Tomura swept up in their infectious chaos. Really, it's hard for Oboro not to get caught up too...until he remembers that he's the adult here and that they probably really shouldn't be cramming Hizashi full of crayons. Kurogiri can only watch in a horror-filled fascination for several seconds while Hizashi devours the crayons paper wrapper and all as he gives his review of the flavor (much to the amusement of the other two) before his brain catches back up to him, but the short timespan is enough for several more crayons to disappear. Razzle Dazzle Rose and Screamin' Green being the latest two additions to Hizashi's stomach, the former apparently being "way more nummy". Tomura is already handing him another to try (Robin Egg Blue, this time) and Shouta is shoving the box of 120 (more like 100) crayons under his shirt by the time Kurogiri is crouched beside them with a handkerchief and the gentle instruction to spit it out, please. All that earns him is a stubborn little boy shaking his head no, his attempts to convince him only causing him to chew faster and swallow the colorful wax anyways. He is (rightfully) appalled when he then proceeds to stick his tongue out and scramble away with a laugh. It takes little convincing to get Shouta to give him the box so he can count just how many crayons are missing, as the four fingers Tomura held up at his question seem unlikely. Given that he counts a remaining 89 crayons, the resulting belly ache is no surprise, nor is the rainbow barf that colors the living room floor. The day ends with a trip to Recovery Girl's office that no one is particularly proud of, but mistakes are only human (and no longer a punishable offense for poor Kurogiri).
While there may be more bumps in the road that may or may not involve eating crayons, returning to caregiving and finding his footing there only leads to Oboro putting more of his life back together and moving forward the best he can. He is still navigating the harsh reality of what happened to him while building those vital relationships that remind him why everything will be okay, that he isn't alone in the dark any longer. Nor does he ever have to be again, the gentle warmth of living seeping into the spaces all around him in his new life. Taking the form of the delicate scents that waft up while he folds Tomura's softest onesies that smell like the Dreft they were washed in. Or of the way Shouta's cat knows just when to rub up against his leg with a purr when he needs a bit of grounding in reality. Or of the Legos that Hizashi has left scattered across the coffee table that cover up some paperwork for his radio show. All of these things makes his life feel comfortably lived in for the first time in a long time, rather than the constant, cold distance and apathy he was forced to maintain. His heart can finally breathe again and seek the connections that bring him so much comfort. Though he has lost much he has also gained plenty, and while it isn't easy he wouldn't change his circumstances. There are still a lot of things Kurogiri is working on of course, but at least he can say he is working on them with those that he cares about most in this world.

The thing about Oshi no Ko episode 1 is that Ai always loved Ruby and Aqua. She didn't need to say it out loud because she made it clear with her actions already.
