Delicious seafood galore - sketched from a photo we took of the assortment of seafood prepared for us at the end of a 2-day cheesy day trips to see Ipoh's Sky Mirror & Blue Tears algae specials (because some members in our group were just too bored to stay put in the fishing village we were staying in).... to city dwellers like us, the food was great, but according to the locals, not so great, cheap stuff meant for tourists. But I like how the dishes were all served on banana leaves. If you ask me, I wouldn't recommend the tours, but since we don't really have boat rides in Singapore, I did enjoy these trips because we were taken out to the lakes and the sea. Pretty fun to be out in the open. By the way this was almost a month ago.... I am just too slow to post.
I visited Belle Vue Park, a large Victorian public park in Newport which opened in 1894. One of the main features here is Belle Vue Park Tearoom! I walked around it and finally chose the spot under the shelter of the bandstand which allowed me to sketch the tea house under shade. I like how one of the ornamental pillars of the bandstand frames the tea house!
This book has become a way to make myself accountable for practicing my sketching everyday, as well as a nature journal of what I encounter when out with the dog, ideas for other projects, and part book of shadows. It’s a little bit of everything.
Sailor Moon fanart time. Every once in a while I like to draw a sailor moon but never try to be serious about it. I oddly enough had a more difficult time with Luna despite being an animal artist.
The annoying/funny thing also is this was done in neither of the sketchbooks/artjournals I'm desperately trying to finish.
My plans are for today to go to the gym and then run and go get my hair done. Yesterday evening I had a dental appointment and wound up with a filling. I honestly don't know if I quite enjoyed that dental clinic. Perhaps I was spoiled by my last one. My last dentist didn't try to guilt me into buying things and they did oral and thyroid cancer checks. They also didn't ask me about my dental history. This lady tried to guilt me into an expensive mouth guard which I might need but I've already spent a lot of money and don't want it right now and I have a retainer which is like the plastic Invisalign thing. And I heard her lecture her staff about encouraging patients to essentially purchase things (which I understand because I work in patient care too so I fully expect that behind closed doors) They also didn't do any additional screenings..but I mean I guess I don't plan to live here long and a simple teeth cleaning is fine. The filling wasn't that shocking because my tooth had been on cavity watch for a while.
today I have to go get my hair salon and tbh I'd rather go to the dentist than go to a hair salon. I hate having my head touched. I don't enjoy it and I don't enjoy the small talk that comes with it. I also don't really know what I want done but I just know that I need to be able to do something with it for the ball thats coming up. I got one week til the ball yall and then I'll be in Phoenix again immediately after.
also going to the gym because I did not get much chance to go last week. See yall later.
have a huge backlog of sketchbook spreads to post, wonder if i’ll find the momentum to post them all. this was the first time in probably years since i’ve eaten pasta (because i was perpetually on low carb), and it was delicious. shared everything with the partner so we both can eat a bit of everything. food means so much to me.
It has been more than a month already but the memory of seeing fireworks was still fresh in my mind as I decided to add in colors for my location ink sketch of the building done during the carnival celebration. I am also testing POSCA markers for the white text - wondering if the ink or paint is waterproof after it is dried.
