Marauders era Headcanons
I’ll be adding to this throughout the storyline
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Sirius Black:
- Partially Deaf, because there is no way he came out inbred and totally unscathed.
- Genderfluid because he’s an indecisive bitch
- Loves when his hair is braided no matter how much he says otherwise (also likes his head scratched)
- Paints his nails just to chip them cause he thinks it looks hot (same thing with smudging eyeliner)
- Calls Lily ‘Evans’, until she and James get together then he calls her ‘Mrs. Potter’
- annoyed he has to share James
- Fidgets with his hair and finger/rings constantly, because he definitely had ADD
- Makes this claw thingy with his hand when he’s nervous (if you know where this is from ily)
- Can dance REALLY WELL (ballet), because of that pure blood privilege, and does the stance naturally
-Can play the violin but is embarrassed so learns guitar so if someone asks him if he plays an instrument he can just say that instead
- Sexuality = Hot people aka Remus Lupin ( he’s just a whore idk what else to say)
-Touch starved/attention whore
- Such a fucking G, this man would riot for anything his friends ask
- If you walked into his closet you would think two people put their stuff in there, no, just him
- Speaks French
Remus Lupin:
- Poor boy is depressed
- And actually poor which is why he sells weed or other muggle things (he hustles the shit out of the students at Hogwarts by saying everything is ‘exotic’ and they believe him because everyone thinks he’s smart)
- Touch starved but doesn’t like to be touched (if you know you know)
-Bisexual panic. All. The. Time.
-Oblivious as hell to the fact everyone wants him— I mean everyone
- Loves tea. SO. MUCH. TEA.
- Has a book club with Lily
- Got a ton of piercings and tattoos over fifth year’s summer, but people rarely see them cause he’s always wearing sweaters or covered up some how
-His whole closet look like it should belong to an old man, yet he still slays
- Bites his lips and inside of cheek a lot, so James carries around lip balm for him
- When he’s high he’s chill
- But he’s hysterical when he’s drunk
-Can read multiple languages, but his pronunciation is god awful (Sirius makes fun of him for it)
-Has Chocolate on hand at all times because once he didn’t and he threw Snape across the classroom
-Man is an uncoordinated tree
James Potter:
- Both the Mom and child of the group somehow
- Takes lots of naps
-Sorry to say but Gryffindor is his personality
- Foot taps
- Holy shit this guy is ADHD
- ‘Bambi’ is his other nickname, and he thinks it’s cute until he watches the movie
- The healthiest mentally of the group
- Golden retriever vibes
- If James hasn’t seen Sirius within 30 minutes and he doesn’t know where he is, he gets panicked
-Has a thing for Youngest siblings apparently (Lily and Regulus)
-Obsessed with Babies
- Definition of himbo sometimes
- He’s good at every sport he tries
- Queer
- Trained Sirius not to say Mudblood throughout first and second year
Peter Pettigrew:
- Trans (I’ll go more in-depth later)
- Ace
- if Social anxiety was a person
- Bakes like an absolute KING
- Chews fingernails, so Sirius got him leather gloves to matches his own to get him to stop
- Knows random shit/facts
-also knows everyone’s business because no one pays him any attention
- Short king
- Hilarious, practically makes the group piss themselves when alone in the common room
- Loves everything fuzzy
- Has been in love with Mary since third or fourth year, but hasn’t said anything because he knew about her and Lily
- Has family trauma too, but he doesn’t thinks it’s enough to complain about because of what he’s seen with Sirius
- Was the first to master turning into an animagus
-As bad as Sirius and James with worrying about his hair, just less loud about it
-He knew about wolfstar before James
Lily Evans:
-Pansexual
- Politics Queen
- As sassy and sarcastic as Sirius
-Stress cleans
- the Left corner of her forehead twitches when she’s mad
- Thick girl (her thighs are HUGE and James practically drools over them 24/7, respectively ofc)
- Short 5’
- the others have to keep her within arms reach because she gets lost easily in crowds, her hair is the only thing that helps
- Human calculator (she gets perfect marks on every subject EXCEPT DADA, which is the class Sirius and James do; it annoys her to no end)
- Most likely to actually throw hands
- Fangirls openly about book characters (with Remus)
- Can’t sing to save her life (poor babe just wants to sing abba, but she just ends up being made fun of)
-Vowed to not cut her hair until she graduated, so around sixth year she had to start braiding it because if she didn’t she’d sit on it
- Can forge a signature/handwriting very well
- Is actually really insecure about her magical abilities because of the rift it caused between her and Petunia
Marlene McKinnon:
-Lesbian
-The only person to actually make her question her sexuality is Remus, and that’s because it’s fucking Remus Lupin
- During fourth year when her and Sirius were ‘dating’, they were just teaching each other how to flirt with girls/guys and they’d kiss just to practice
-Obsessed with Piercings (begged Remus to give her a couple after he told her about how he had the supplies)
- One of the best players on the Gryffindor Quidditch team/ uses it as anger management (Beater position)
-Her and Sirius have an agreement to tell each other the weekly outfit plan so they don’t wear the same thing or color (red or black mostly)
- Roasting people is her platonic love language
-Can play every band instrument
-She looks like a tough, rocker chick but is a softie for Dorcas
- Intimidates everyone because she’s low key buff (can bench more than James and Sirius combined) and super tall (looks like a giant next to Lily)
-Can’t speak in front of Dorcas at first, yet Dorcas understands her
-Big on PDA which leads to Sirius gagging obnoxiously
-Her and Sirius “fighting” is for show so people stop shipping them together/ teasing them
- Dyslexic so Lily and Dorcas read to her if there’s anything important (which leads to them doing it even if she’s not around)
-Simps for James Mum (but who wouldn’t)
Dorcas Meadowes:
- Part of the Slytherin skittles
- Non-binary
-Demisexual
- Dark humor and it’s worse when she’s around Regulus and Barty
- Nyx is her first girl kiss in my oc story (Marlene probably was for every other story)
-Big softy when it comes to Marlene
-Resting bitch face
- Amazing artist/ sketching Marlene constantly
- Makes jewelry (Marlene and her matching rings, and friendship bracelets/ necklaces for the others that they can never take off— she warns them before hand)
- Will go batshit crazy if she stays up after 12 am
-Gets super competitive when playing Quidditch
- Rants about how much she loves pockets every 20 minutes
- Instinctively moves closer to someone she knows when she’s in public
- More introverted than the rest, would rather stay in the common room and chill
-makes a ton of your mom jokes
Mary Macdonald:
- Pansexual or Polysexual
-She loves to embroidery/making clothes, so if anyone needs something made or tailored they go to her
-Hypes everyone up all the time, ‘don’t disrespect yourself’ vibe
- Has the best alcohol tolerance in the group
-James potter triggers her for a multitude of reasons; they have a banter relationship
- She always has what you need in her bag— like Mary Poppins
-Lily was her first love and friend
- SUCH a good listener (like I know canon Remus and Lily would be the best listeners, but I think it’s Mary)
- Both her and Remus had a glow up fourth year and everyone wants to either be them or be with them
- Loves dancing, will do it randomly while doing absolutely anything
-Hates cold weather, she’ll literally wear five jackets DON’T play
-Has had or does have a eating disorder because of societal pressure of internal judgment; not to mention people definitely paint her out to be a ‘slag’ because she happens to be more open about her sexuality (and they don’t do it to Sirius because we live in a fucked patriarchy)
- Will scream “fuck the police” or “fuck the Patriarchy” when running away from an authority figure (or just Lily/Remus)
-vegetarian
-Extroverted (loves to be around people/hates being alone)
Regulus Black:
- Asthma (again, can’t escape inbreeding completely)
-Has permanent dark circles, yet he still looks beautiful??? Looks like eyeshadow to be real
- Demisexual
-trans
-Scratching his knuckles is a severe nervous tick of his
-Writes poetry and short stories
- Plays the piano
-Started playing quidditch to interact with Sirius more and to impress him (but as he got older he didn’t really give a shit anymore)
-Speaks French and Reads Latin
-Really into Astronomy
- He had a crush on James in fifth year but didn’t pursue it because he still somewhat resented him for having Sirius all to himself (and he knew Sirius would get mad)
-Cusses a lot when around his friends
-Best poker face, could lie to anyone and get away with it
-Photographic memory
-Nice to all the House elves (and all the Marauders except Sirius and James)
Pandora, Evan, and Barty
Evan and Pandora are siblings
Everyone in the Marauders and Slytherin Skittles have agreed that Pandora has to be protected at all cost
What they don’t know is that this girl is lethal (Carries around potions she’s created that could burn through steel)
Barty is hella gay, psychotic, and a bit of a pyro
Barty is also low key obsessed with Regulus
Evan is in love with Barty
Rosekiller is a thing, and it is toxic (don’t we just love it)
I’ll probably add more for Barth, Evan, and Pandora later

Summary: Lily Evans has noticed something odd. Her fifth year was nothing new. She still hated James Potter's friends just as much as she hated James Potter, but she had a new problem... Sirius Black seems to be falling for the wrong girl without anybody noticing. What does a villain like Black have to offer a girl like Laine Crowley, and why does Lily care so much?
Word count: 1.3k words
Warnings: Some light ruckus (of the teenage kind), Lily being a bit of a pick-me-girl(sorry!)

Eventual Sirius x Oc and Lily x James, Laine can be x reader if you like, Laine is also an Animagus (common English Starling)
-------------------------------------------------------
Pt 1
In the opinion of Lily Evans, James Potter was a pig and Sirius Black was a deplorable villain.
The only two males of the most desirable gang of reprobates in Hogwarts she was remotely okay with were Remus Lupin - a quiet, if not lovely young man, and Peter Pettigrew, yet another fly caught in Potters horrid influence. Yet the fifth member of these horrible pranksters, completely confused her.
Sure, Laine Crowley had gotten on the Hogwarts express with the same timid look as Lily had in first year. Sure Laine Crowley was almost always top of her class like Lily was. Sure, the two girls were not in the least friends, but for heavens sake, why on earth was she bosom buddies with the likes of Potters crew?
Laine had been thick as thieves with those boys ever since their first Hallowe'en at Hogwarts and Lily had never known why.
Now she sat in a particularly rowdy Transfigurations class in her fifth year, watching the rambunctious girl impress the entire class with her skill and charm, quite literally Lily thought, as Crowley took the small rat- turned pin cushion - into the air with an alarming speed. Her spell barely uttered, as she shoved it across the room with a simple flick of the wrist at a vile Slyrherin girl who had almost decapitated her rat in one foul swoop. The class erupted in outrage on one side and applause on the other.
Lily grimaced as the boys patted her on the back and made jovial excuses as McGonagall bore her full wrath down on the girl. It was here that Lily noticed the first of many inconsistencies. This girl, usually so competent, confidant and a prime example of Grifindoor pride was squirming under Sirius Black's warm gaze. Lily sat up straighter in her chair, peering over the shoulders of cackling Grifindoors.
The indestructible Laine Crowley was as red as a beetroot and nobody was noticing! Lily's mouth fell agape at the scene before her. The handsome, if not scruffy Black had a tender hand on Laine's shoulder, with an award-winning smile plastered on his face from ear to ear. Crowley shoved him off her, her usual bravado spilling out in waves as she was hauled from between Potter and Black by McGonagall, she said something with a cheeky wink up at their fuming professor and then she was gone. The boys in utter hysterics, including Remus, who was hunched over his 'Transformation Ages, a History' textbook, cackling. Lily groaned. She happened to set her sights on Sirius again after her dramatic eye roll. He was staring at the classroom door, rather uncharacteristically. This struck look on his face. He may as well have had big hearts taped over his eyes.
Lily was appalled. She was disgusted. She was infinitely curious. She decided then and there that she needed to get closer to the situation if she really wanted to discern the true nature of this strange development.
As she was mulling over her options, she caught James' eye. He smiled brilliantly up at her. She shoved her nose right back into her textbook, just as McGonagall re-entered her classroom. Lily was very glad that her textbook was rather staunch in stature and blocked her view, else as McGonagall took another 15 points from Grifindoor while James was crooning up at the redhead, he would've seen the hot blush in her cheeks and the nervous tremor on her lips.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
It was in the following days that Lily found she was running into Laine more and more. She eventually discovered that she was purposely running into the girl without knowing it. Lily ran a frustrated hand through her fringe. Watching from afar as this group she seemed to have a habit of stalking was taking break in a very populated court yard.
She sat with Marleen and Dorcas, who were in a heated debate about something Charms related. She wasn't listening though. She was watching Sirius and James sword fight with two ends of discarded broomsticks -stolen, clearly. Sirius turned to Laine after his triumphant victory, saying something that made her giggle in a flustered 2nd year sort-of-way. Then she watched him say something that made her throw her shoe at him.
Lily had noticed that they were dumb when it came to each other. Sirius flirted with every girl he saw, Laine ignored him. Laine flirted with Sirius, he ignored her. Laine, never mind flirting, if the girl even spoke to another bloke, Lily watched Sirius explode with what she supposed was some heinous.
They fought like cat and dog, they bickered at every turn and yet- Lily sat with her brows furrowed and her chin in her palm- they were looking at each other like lovestruck puppies. Lily noted that that was sort of the pattern with these two.
She didn't really understand why, but it irked her. Some deep chord within her twinged every time she looked at this popular pair. She looked over at Potter. She smiled. Wouldn't it be nice if he was like that? Lily statled. Like what? She shook her head violently. Standing up so fast that Marleen almost had a heart attack. She strode away without answering her worried friends pestering.
She reached her destination faster than she expected. No. She thought. Not Potter. And she would prove it. "Laine."
"Nah Pads, you're much more like, what his name again?- Ah! Alfarro the untimely- ah, Evans?" The girls laugh died, her smile dropped. Her brow quirked up in a surprisingly cute, rare vulnerability. "Uhm, what cann'I do fer ya?"
James jumped out of his skin before he jumped up from his precarious position in Crowleys lap. The witch grumbled at the obviously painful jerk of motion. Lily noted in the ensuing chaos Sirius' rush to his knees to fluster over her, glaring - again uncharacteristically- at his best mate. She shooed him away before James managed to conjour up something to say to the perturbed redhead.
"Lily! My darling flower. What can i do for you on this lovely morning hmm?" He swept his hair out of his face, maybe to help his brain work better, maybe to look attractive. Lily had to admit that he had done neither. He smiled dashingly at her. She glanced down to her real target.
"Laine. Sorry to bug you. Can I speak to you for a minute?" She gave the girl a sweetly apologetic look. Laine now looked even more confused. Pausing in her background assault on her very obvious crush.
"Well I don't know Evans... I've uh, gotta study before classes start..." James turned his head to look round at her. Lily couldn't see the look on his face, but Laine turned as white as a sheet as she stared at him. Lily imagined James must look absolutely terrifying behind his mop of hair.
Lily marched over, hauled Laine up by the arm only to glance at Black on her way up. She nodded her head at him.
"Red." He managed with a skeptical brow. She turned back to the task at hand. At Laines severe protest she turned to the girl again.
"Only take a moment." She hummed. Laine went silent and dully trodded along with her kidnapper until they reached a secluded corridor. Lily spun around alarmingly, realized she was still clutching onto the girls arm and promptly backed away. She watched Laines arm fall to her side. Just as she was about to speak, incredulity evident on her face, Lily beat her to it. "Have lunch with me this weekend. Three Broomsticks. I think it'll be safer there."
"Safer? What- Lily what on earth are you on about? Just tell me!" Laine was bewildered, but by now she simply growing irritated.
Lily shook her head. "No, no. Listen it's nothing really. Just, if you want, let me tell you over a Buttetbeer. It might interest you." She was being sneaky and she knew it. Sneaky and mean, but she had to know.
"O-okay. Whatever. 12.00 sharp?" Gotcha. Lily nodded. Laine turned away and headed back to the courtyard. She looked over her shoulder at Lily, who had also promptly turned and was headed towards her next class. Laine sighed.
What the hell was Prongs going to do when she got back?

would you read this?
“Most people don't listen with the intent to understand. Most people listen with the intent to reply.”
Remus Lupin wasn’t like most people. He wasn’t alive to please anyone but himself, and even that he did rarely. He wasn’t one to dress according to a trend or an occasion, and he couldn’t give a toss about whether people liked it or not either. He didn’t speak how people wanted him to. He didn’t do what people wanted him to. However, he found his people, people he didn’t need to try and impress, people who liked him for who he was, people who loved him even at times he didn’t love himself.
Asterin was one of those people. One who liked him even back when they were eleven and he was just a short skinny boy with loads of unexplainable scars and the title of a freak. One who accepted him, offered a helping hand whenever he needed, stuck by his side, even before she knew about his little secret and he disappeared once a month, showing up with more battle-like scars. And he offered nothing but the same treatment back.
Although she didn’t want to admit it, he could tell something was out of the ordinary. Terribly out of the ordinary.
He leaned against the wall of the greenhouse, watching her skillfully light a cigarette; he chuckled at that, wondering how long after they had last seen each other she found comfort in the nicotine drug – perhaps he was a bad influence.
----------
trust me or not, this isn't a remus x oc fanfic (it's sirius x oc, surprise).
i have been working on it for a while now and the plan is two "books", the first following the marauders' teen years, the second their lives after the war (mainly the oc's in both books).
question is; would you be interested?
let me know.

So close to writing a Remus/OC story friends to lovers story but in the beginning OC isn't with Remus or even thinking about Remus. She's with Sirius and their so happy until Sirius cheats on her with Mary (I love you girl but my options were your blonde gay bestfriend and Marlene is very much gay in this one) and then Sirius also betrays Remus in the prank and then when they both aren't talking to Sirius they spend more time together and end up dating.
Idk thoughts?

⋆⭒˚.⋆NAME
☞ Esther
The name Esther is the natural continuation of the Hebrew אֶסְתֵר Ester, the protagonist of the eponymous book of the Old Testament. According to the book, Esther was a young Jewish woman named Hadassah, which means "myrtle" in Hebrew. The name Esther was imposed on her when she entered the harem of King Ahasuerus. A Targum of the Jewish tradition explains that she was more beautiful than the "star of the night".
In Hebrew, Esther means "I will hide myself". In the Bible, Esther hides her Jewish identity until the moment she must ask the king to save the Jews from the imminent massacre ordered by Haman.
Many studies have also found a connection between this name and that of the Babylonian deity Ishtar, the goddess associated with the planet Venus. Ishtar or Ištar is known in the Jewish community as Ashtoret, whose etymology is still unknown.
Another hypothesis about the origin of this name associates Esther with the Persian term sitareh, which means "star". In this case, it would have the same meaning as the names Stella, Astro, and Tara.
The girl's parents did not choose this name on a whim; the choice is due to the main meaning of the name. Esther means "star," a celestial body that shines with its own light, because it is made of incandescent matter. The name was chosen because the girl represents, in the eyes of her parents, the light of their family, a unique light given to her by nature itself, which also enhances not only Esther but also her family and lineage.
──────⊱◈◈◈⊰──────
⋆⭒˚.⋆ LAST NAME
☞ Lacroix
A very ancient family that adopted its coat of arms before the 13th century. It is found in different epochs and in different locations. This family is recorded in the "Armorial Général," which demonstrates that previously and even now it is distinguished by its undeniable valor; nobility is also evidenced through documents passed down through generations over time.
As you can well understand, the girl's family is a fairly wealthy family that has not had any economic problems of any kind for centuries. The members of the Lacroix family have always been very close-knit, and that is unlikely to change. Follow the family's rules, and you will always be helped and respected, both by its members and by most people. Among family members, there has never been a very strong bond of genuine love; what keeps the family very united is mainly belonging to the same lineage of wizards for centuries; the same magical blood runs in their veins. It would be dishonorable for the family to hate each other.
Furthermore, as you may have guessed from the surname, Esther's family comes from France. Some of her relatives stayed there while the other part went to live in the United Kingdom.
⋆⭒˚.⋆BLOOD STATUS
☞ Pure-blood
As mentioned earlier, Esther's blood status is pure-blood. The term Pure-blood is used by wizards and witches to indicate a member of the magical community in whose veins flows exclusively magical blood because there are no ancestors with non-magical lineage. Some Pure-blood families can trace their status back many generations, denying ever having Muggle relatives, such as the House of Black. But, just as there were never exclusively Pure-blood families in the past, there are none in the present either. They have simply erased Muggle and magical from their family trees. Those who consider blood purity so important usually hide Muggle ancestors, clinging tightly to magical inheritances.
──────⊱◈◈◈⊰──────
⋆⭒˚.⋆HOUSE
☞ Gryffindor
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gryffindor is one of the four Houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It is named after its founder, Godric Gryffindor, one of the four founders of Hogwarts. Gryffindor instructed the Sorting Hat to choose students who possessed what he considered to be the noblest qualities such as courage, kindness, and determination. The house symbol is a lion, and its colors are gold and scarlet. The house ghost is Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington, also known as "Nearly Headless Nick".
Gryffindors are brave and noble of heart. They love to uphold justice and seek out challenges, which often leads them into trouble. They are also known for their loyalty, courtesy, and respect.
The Lacroixes who have attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry have always been sorted into Slytherin (except for one of Esther's aunts who was sorted into Ravenclaw and a few other ancestors sorted into Gryffindor), so you can imagine the disappointment of Esther's parents when they found out that their beloved daughter was a Gryffindor.
At eleven years old, Esther was still somewhat impressionable, so when she was sorted, she was initially angry with herself for disappointing her parents. However, she soon realized that the Sorting Hat had made the right choice. Why? Because Esther felt at home with the Gryffindors, she felt good, she felt comfortable, and moreover, she had also met a lot of nice people.
──────⊱◈◈◈⊰──────
⋆⭒˚.⋆AGE
☞ September 22nd 1960
Esther was born on September 22, 1960, so her zodiac sign is Libra.
The Libra sign is one of the cardinal signs linked to the equinoxes and solstices and is in full equinox in autumn. It is an air sign in which mental stimulation prevails over emotions and the practical side of life. It literally marks a demarcation on the path of the seasons' evolution, a necessary passage to enter winter, a period of hibernation, calm, and peace.
Those born under the sign of Libra have a specific purpose in life: to bring peace, create balance and harmony by offering their help impartially without seeking anything in return and without prejudice. They dislike chaos and disorder, love art, especially the beautiful and elegant kind. Those born under the sign of Libra are very discreet but like to be appreciated and attract admiring glances. Despite their amiable appearance, always smiling...making a Libra angry is like throwing gasoline on a fire.
Esther's behavior often reflects many of the same characteristics of Libras, although there are differences.

⋆⭒˚.⋆ PERSONALITY
☞ calm, passionate, ambivert...
Esther is reserved but she isn't afraid to stand up for her values when it is something that she cares deeply about.
She is humble, receptive, and trusting. She places a strong emphasis on maintaining harmony and avoiding conflict.
She can be very versatile and is often seen as easy-going. Supportive and accepting, her presence is often found calming by others.
Another aspect of the girl's character is her simplicity. By "simplicity," it means that Esther doesn't need much to have a good time or be happy. It's a side of her character that hasn't changed much over the years. Give her a book, let her play music, let her spend time with friends, or lie on the grass to admire the sky, and Esther will be the happiest girl in the world. In short, simple activities that she greatly appreciates.
One aspect of Esther's character that has changed over the years, however, is her self-confidence and discretion. Esther is not 100% extroverted, but she has made progress since her first year at Hogwarts, that's for sure. She's not the type of person who tends to seek attention or the type of person who is shameless, and she probably never will be. Let's say she knows how to be discreet just right. She's no longer as shy as before; if she has something to say, she says it without hesitation, and if she wants to talk to people she doesn't know, well, often it's the same thing. Despite her calm aura, when she's with her friends, she knows how to have fun. She never does extreme or reckless things, but if there's a prank to be played, for example, she almost never refuses.
Tumblr media
Now, let's move on to Esther's flaws, because yes, no one is perfect. One of her flaws is having difficulty admitting her own mistakes or simply admitting on being wrong. Obviously, if the situation gets out of hand or if guilt overwhelms her (which happens most of the time), she apologizes. She doesn't like to argue, that's for sure, but if she gets angry, she does it properly. Especially because she has a lot of pent-up anger somehow.
An issue with Esther is that she doesn't talk much about her problems or feelings. If she does, she uses sarcasm, which doesn't help people understand whether she's feeling well or not. Often, Esther keeps everything inside. She doesn't want to bother people with her moods and problems. On the other hand, she avoids the topic because, most of the time, she does not know why she feels a certain way and doesn't know how to express what she's feeling. Besides, her pride prevents her for showing herself in a position of relative weaknesses (aka, exposing her feelings gives her the same symptoms as someone who's about to throw up).
Esther has another aspect of her character that can be seen, at the same time, in both positive and negative ways. The girl could do anything to protect the people she cares about, especially her friends. What's negative about it? The fact that by "anything," it means both right and wrong things.

⋆⭒˚.⋆ BACKSTORY
❝𝑊𝒉𝑒𝑛 𝐼 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑎 𝑘𝑖𝑑 𝑡𝒉𝑒𝑦 𝑠𝑎𝑖𝑑 𝐾𝑖𝑑 𝑑𝑜𝑛'𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑐𝑟𝑦 𝐼 𝑎𝑚 𝑜𝑙𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑛𝑜𝑤 𝐼 𝑠𝑎𝑦 𝐼𝑡'𝑠 𝑎𝑙𝑟𝑖𝑔𝒉𝑡 𝐸𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑟 𝑟𝑜𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑛 𝑑𝑜𝑤𝑛 𝐼𝑠 𝑎 𝑙𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑛𝑒𝑑 𝐴𝑟𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑡𝑜𝑜 𝑜𝑙𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑛 𝐴𝑟𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑡𝑜𝑜 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑢𝑟𝑛❞
As a child, Esther was always a lively person, enjoying simple pleasures and appreciating the little things, in short, a normal child who dreamed of a world full of kindness and flowers, where one could have fun and live in peace. You might think she was naive, but after all, she was just a simple child who was unaware of all the violence that existed and still exists in both the magical and Muggle worlds.
As she grew up, she slowly began to realize that the world wasn't such a perfect place after all, but rather, it had many imperfections; imperfections caused by both wizards and Muggles, who sometimes let themselves be carried away by hatred, envy, anger, and who all too often made irreparable mistakes...
Tumblr media
The upbringing she received from her parents was very strict. They made her understand what was right and what was wrong according to them and their values and all that without any delicacy: "Behave this way"; "Don't do this anymore"; "Don't let others walk all over you, instead, walk over them"; "If it's not perfect, it's not good enough."; "Perfection is required, not asked".
These were phrases they repeated to her constantly.
Despite this, Esther was okay with it at first. It seemed almost normal to her, or at least, her parents made it seem that way. They love her, that's not the problem, but they're not the typical parents who say "just try, if you fail it's okay, there's always next time," or "don't worry, we're here if you need us," but rather, they're the type of parents who educate you to be perfect in every way, no failures, etc. They demand perfection and adherence to rules.
Her parents love her in their own way, and Esther knows this; that was enough for her at first, but now she realizes that the love her parents have for her is suffocating. Toxic because they leave her no choice; toxic because slapping her is the easiest option to show her they disagree with her behavior and choices. Toxic also because Esther loves her parents and wants them to be proud of her; toxic because Esther finds it extremely difficult to distance herself from her family even if it's for her own good.
❝𝑊𝒉𝑒𝑛 𝐼'𝑚 𝑎𝑤𝑎𝑦 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝐼'𝑚 𝒉𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑖𝑒𝑟 𝑡𝒉𝑎𝑛 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑊𝑖𝑠𝒉 𝐼 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑒𝑥𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑖𝑛 𝑖𝑡 𝑏𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝐼 𝑤𝑖𝑠𝒉 𝑖𝑡 𝑤𝑎𝑠𝑛'𝑡 𝑡𝑟𝑢𝑒❞
She can't distance herself from them permanently, and that's why, to at least get away for a while, the girl often spent hours in the large garden of the mansion where she still lives. She doesn't do anything particular; she just stays there with her wolfhound dog, Argo, looking at the sky, having fun with him, writing, and drawing. This is one of the things that hasn't changed in Esther's life; she still does it, finding it relaxing, as if it were a little journey back to her childhood where her childlike eyes didn't see the complexity of the world and still had everything to discover.

⋆⭒˚.⋆ CURIOSITIES
◈Perfection
As mentioned earlier, the girl was raised to settle only for perfection, not for mediocrity, not for satisfactory, but only for perfection. She was taught that everything she does must be flawless; if she doesn't do something well, she must try and try again until she feels she has achieved her goal. This mindset is part of the girl's routine, especially in the academic aspect when it comes to grades. She must not settle for a satisfactory grade but must always aim for the best.
◈Music
Esther knows how to play the piano; she started when she was a child. The choice was made by her father, who thought that being able to play an instrument was, after all, a necessary richness.
Playing an instrument is one of the few decisions made by her parents that the girl has liked. Playing allows her to release her emotions through music rather than words, which makes everything simpler.
◈Pets
The girl has always lived with animals, whether it's owls, owlets, dogs, cats, etc. It goes without saying that Esther would be willing to die for her animals.
At school, she brought her owl, Zeus, who keeps her company and brings her letters from her family (not that they write much, of course; most of the time it's just to get news).
Initially, Esther wanted to bring her dog Argo with her, but even though he's a very calm and obedient dog, the only problem is his size. Unfortunately, he's not a small dog, and with much regret, she had to leave him at home with her parents, who aren't that present since they both work at the Ministry.
◈Family
Esther is starting to grow tired of her family, unfortunately. She can't distance herself from them permanently, but she's trying one step at a time. First with Quidditch, then with friends her parents don't approve of and, the night before the start of her final year at school, by cutting her hair.
◈ Books
Esther and books are a love story that will never end. She loves reading; it's a way to escape from reality, and she adores it.
◈Bilingual
As mentioned earlier, Esther's family is French. Growing up, Esther's parents spoke to her in both French and English, so the young Gryffindor can speak both languages.

⋆⭒˚.⋆ QUIDDITCH
☞ Chaser
Tumblr media
Chaser is one of the positions in Quidditch. The Chasers throw the Quaffle to each other and try and get it through one of the hoops to score a goal.
The choice to play Quidditch was one of the first things decided exclusively by Esther. She loves Quidditch and could spend hours on her broomstick. For her, this is also a way to escape from reality and problems. Flying gives her a sense of freedom, and playing Quidditch allows her to have fun. She is an excellent chaser, especially because she trains a lot.
──────⊱◈◈◈⊰──────
⋆⭒˚.⋆ PET
As a pet, Esther brought her owl, Zeus. He is a calm, haughty, and very friendly animal (with her at least). He is quite wary of other people, not because he is afraid, but only because for him, his owner is Esther and no one else.
──────⊱◈◈◈⊰──────
⋆⭒˚.⋆WAND
Wood: Alder.
Alder wood is inflexible; however, the ideal owner of a wand made from this material is often not stubborn and obstinate but rather helpful, respectful, and very likable. While most wand woods seek an affinity with the character of the one who will serve them best, alder is an exception because it seems to be attracted to a nature that, if not opposite to its own, is certainly very different. When an alder wand is successfully matched, it becomes a wonderful and loyal companion. Among all wands, this one is most suitable for non-verbal spells: hence the reputation for being suitable only for witches and wizards of higher level.
Length: 12 1/2 inches.
Many wand makers match the length of the wand to the height of the wizard or witch, but it is an approximate meter that does not take into account other important considerations. Indeed, while longer wands may be suitable for tall wizards, they are attracted to people with a strong personality and those who practice a grand and dramatic style of magic, just as shorter wands choose those with some lack of personality rather than those who are shorter than average. Well-proportioned wands, on the other hand, favor elegant and refined spells.
Core: Dragon heartstring.
Generally, dragon heartstring cores produce the most powerful wands and the most spectacular spells. Dragon wands learn faster than other types. Although they may change allegiance if the new owner wins them in battle, they always form very strong bonds with the original owner. They are the easiest wands to convert to the Dark Arts, although they are not inclined to do so spontaneously. Dragon heartstring cores also represent the core most prone to accidents, due to their volatile nature.

⋆⭒˚.⋆BOGGART
A Boggart is a magical creature that can take on the form of whatever the approaching wizard fears most. No one knows what a Boggart looks like when it is alone. It is also a non-being. Feeding on the fears of its victims, Boggarts fear laughter; therefore, the most effective weapon against them is the Riddikulus spell, which transforms the Boggart into something amusing. Company can be useful against a Boggart because, hearing different fears, the shape-shifter cannot decide which form to take. Third-year students learn how to deal with a Boggart in their Defense Against the Dark Arts class.
Esther has a moderate fear of the dark, bees, needles... These are common fears, but ones she can perfectly live with. However, her main fear is to disappoint her parents and friends. Esther's Boggart is the people she cares about the most, telling her she hasn't done enough for them, that they're disappointed in her, that they want nothing to do with her anymore. Esther's fear is not only to disappoint these people, but also not being able to help or save them.
──────⊱◈◈◈⊰──────
⋆⭒˚.⋆ PATRONUS
☞ Fox
Esther is capable of producing a full Patronus. Of course, this achievement was reached after training several times. She loves perfection after all. You may also wonder what her memory was that allowed her to produce a Patronus... it might seem trivial, but her happy memory is simply her as a child playing with her dog in the large garden of her family's mansion. A simple memory, but one that symbolizes a lot of happiness, a feeling of carefreeness, and unique freedom for her.
The girl's Patronus is a fox. The fox has always been recognized as a cunning animal that sneaks into henhouses to kill chickens, nourishing only on their brains, but this seems to apply more to the mustelids than to the fox. However, it represents cunningness used for personal purposes to defend one's life or will, especially if used negatively and selfishly. The fox stealthily hides from the hunter's eyes, blending in with the environment. Its physical agility and speed have symbolically represented the quick thinking of clever and astute people who know how to take advantage of ideal situations to fulfill their desires without others noticing.

⋆⭒˚.⋆ OPINIONS
In 1977, the wizarding world is in the midst of a magical war. The Ministry of Magic is under attack by Voldemort and his followers, and fear is an emotion that almost everyone begins to feel.
The one who must not be named is behind this war. Rising to power during the 1970s, Voldemort has managed to gather many followers, most of whom (if not all) come from Pureblood families influenced by Voldemort's ideas, namely, the return to a "clean" magical community, not tainted by the presence of Muggle-borns or Half-bloods.
Tumblr media
What does Esther think of all this?
It's quite simple: it annoys her. She can't understand why there are people who agree with what Voldemort says. She can't fathom how someone could be so morally decaying as to think they're better than someone else simply because of having "pure" blood while others do not.
Fear is the most difficult emotion to handle. Pain can be cried out, anger can be shouted, but fear silently grips the heart and doesn't easily let go. People change with fear; they can do foolish things. Perhaps people become followers of this dark wizard out of sheer fear or simply because they share his ideas.
On the other hand, Esther must acknowledge that she is also worried about what is happening. She fears for her friends, for the possibility that Voldemort might win this war, but she's also concerned because she knows it's only a matter of time before her family gets involved in all of this (and not on the right side).
──────⊱◈◈◈⊰──────
Just knowing Esther's opinions on the situation reveals where she stands. As you may have gathered, the girl would rather be run over by the hogwarts express than be on Voldemort's side. Esther's ideas are not compatible with those of Voldemort and his followers and never will be. Will they?
The problem that arises for the girl, however, is primarily that of her family. If her family were to side with the Dark Lord, what will Esther do? Will she be forced to join them too? She doesn't want to and will never join if she can help it, so a solution has been brewing in the young girl's mind for a while now: leaving home. How? She doesn't know. She wouldn't want to put her friends in danger by running to their homes, and besides, she doesn't want to leave her dog with her family, that's for sure. She hadn't talked to anyone about it until the first day of school. She woke up early in the morning and, before catching the train, sent a letter to her aunt about it. She'll find a solution, or at least try. It's better to get away from potential danger before it's too late.
⋆⭒˚.⋆ RELATIONSHIPS
As mentioned earlier, Esther is no longer as shy as she used to be, so she has no difficulty making new friends. When you get to know her well, you realize she's a bit different from when you first met her, obviously not in a negative sense, on the contrary. When Esther is comfortable with people, she's much more spontaneous in her words and actions, she allows herself to express her opinions and feelings and she allows herself to relax for once in a while.
As for the "romantic" aspect of relationships, it's a more complicated matter for the girl. First, she's read too many books and seen too many movies, so her standards are so high that she doesn't even understand them. She's aware it's ridiculous, of course. Second, when it comes to flirting or similar things, Esther becomes clueless. Let me explain with an example. If someone flirts seriously with her, Esther doesn't get it. She's not doing it on purpose, poor thing; it's just her brain that can't process that information. Third detail. Esther has never had a boyfriend because when she likes someone, that person doesn't feel the same way. When someone likes Esther, it's never someone she likes, which is quite irritating and sad at the same time. One thing you can be sure of, though, is that when Esther loves, she does it with her whole being. Body, soul, thoughts, gestures...
◈ Friendships
☞James Potter
Since they're both on the Quidditch team, Esther and James have been friends for years. They knew each other even before joining the team, of course, but playing together has strengthened their friendship. Esther is relatively more serious and calm than James, but it must be admitted that her friendship with him has changed her a bit, especially regarding her shyness. Needless to say, James is outgoing. Esther wasn't, but James has helped her open up more to others. They spend a lot of time together, even now, which is why Esther has "adapted" to her best friend's outgoing nature. Thanks to James, Esther has also been able to meet Remus and Sirius, two people she cares deeply about.
☞ Remus Lupin
Remus and Esther are quite similar in some respects, so they agree on almost everything, spend a lot of time together, borrow books from each other... Esther is very comfortable with both Remus and the other Marauders; they all know each other quite well. With Remus she could spend hours simply staying in silence and relaxing, his presence comforting her as much as it comforts him.
☞ Sirius Black
How can one be friends with James and not be friends with Sirius Black? It's impossible. Those two are like brothers; if you're friends with one of them, you're friends with the other.
Sirius is a flirt, everybody knows, and Esther finds his behaviour in general rather funny. The two are always playfully bickering, exchanging sarcastic comments, just genuinely enjoying their friendship.
The thing that strengthens their relationship however, is also the fact that they have a few things that are similar in their upbringing and they both know that, if one of them needs to talk, the other will always be there to listen, because, in the end, who can understand them better than they do one another?
If we sum up, we can say that the moment she set a foot in the train to start her first year at Hogwarts, was the moment she met these troublemakers and the moment they all became inseparable ever since somehow.
☞ Marlene McKinnon
Esther and Marlene are the classic best friends you can see in movies and read about in books. In some respects, they're opposites; for example, one is blonde, the other is brunette; one is always full of energy, the other is calmer, more chill... Despite these small differences, Esther and Marlene are very close, both from mutual affection and the secrets they share

◈ Family
☞Mother
Claire Lacroix (née Fournier)
☞Father
Thomas Lacroix
☞Aunt
Mary Lacroix
As mentioned earlier, everyone in Esther's family ended up in Slytherin except for some ancestors and her aunt. Mary Lacroix is the aunt in question who was sorted into Ravenclaw. She is the younger sister of Esther's father. She's somewhat the black sheep of the family because she's always been rebellious and has never respected the "ridiculous" traditions imposed by her parents; moreover, she is the only one who distanced herself fully from everything relating to her family. She moved to London as soon as she turned 18 and now works at the Ministry as well. She's a bit of the stereotypical rich, single, young aunt. She hardly ever talks to her family; the only occasions they see each other are family dinners and parties (like Christmas or some birthdays - and it's even rare to see her in such events because either she wasn't invited or simply refused to come).

Rescuing A Friend
Summary:After Eloise meets notorious Sirius Black at a ball, she thinks they will become friends at school, but that wish comes to an end the moment he sees her sitting with Regulus Black, thinking she is just like the rest of them.
Word count: 6k+
Pairings: Sirius Black x OC
'' Don`t know mate. All I know is that I don`t want to go to that stupid ball my parents are throwing.'' Sirius huffed angrily, placing his chin in the palm of his hand, resting it on the table, unavoidably pushing his plate filled with scrambled eggs and sausages to the side.
'' Well you don`t have much of a choice now, do you?'' Remarked Remus as a matter-of-fact. He took a sip of his pumpkin juice, followed by a bite of toast.
The dark haired boy glared at him, huffing at his comment.
'' A little support from my friends would be much appreciated Moony!''
'' Ok, ok. I am sure it will all go well and you`ll have fun.'' James reassured his grumpy friend, patting him on the back.
'' More like it will go by fast, hopefully.'' Grumbled Sirius, aware that this was their last day of school and tomorrow he will be heading back home for the summer, where his oh-so-lovely mother decided to host yet another fancy ball for the pureblood families across all Europe.
'' Bye Prongs. I'll miss ya. Write to me.'' Sirius hugged his bespectacled friend, pulling away sadly. ''You two as well.'' He glanced at Remus and Peter, who were waiting on the Potter boy to accompany them.
'' Of course we will Pads, but I can`t say the same about you.'' James raised his brows, acting all serious for a few moments before laughing and hugging his brother from another mother a second round. '' Oi I told ya my mum grounded me last summer. There was no way for me to contact you.'' He reasoned.
'' Well then behave this summer lad. Be good and we might see each other sooner.''
'' Ye ye all right. Bye.''
'' Oh I`m so happy for this event. I even dare say I`ve outdone myself!'' Walburga exclaimed enthusiasticaly, clasping her hands together, and taking a step back to admire her work. She gazed around the room, where the ball was being held, to take a look at the fine decor that complimented the walls and ceiling.
'' You mean to say the house elves have outdone themselves.'' Corrected his mother smirking, whilst leaning half his body on the entrance into the room.
Scoffing at her rebel son, she rolled her eyes turning to look at him. '' I was the one who coordinated the whole planning of this. Therefore, it was all my efforts that are now paying off!'' Argued back the annoyed mother.
'' Yes yes but technically it was their physical effort that made it-'' '' WHAT are you still doing here? The guests will be arriving shortly. I do Not have time to waste my energy on such matters. Go get dressed.'' She waved a dismissive hand at Sirius, ushering him back to his chamber.
Defeteadly, Sirius huffed, making a piece of curly hair that was hanging around his face fly away in the process, turning smoothly towards the stairs.
Hours later, the ball was in full motion. Various families were dancing, drinking and conversing delightfully, overall creating a pleasant atmosphere.
At such times you were able to tell the heavy contrasts between the two Black brothers. Whereas Regulus was already blending in and courting several young women, Sirius begrudgingly sitting in a corner of the room, itching to go light up a cigarette but thinking of the consequences, knew better than to do it.
Hovering his eyes over the room looking for a potential person to chat with, his looks rested upon an unfamiliar face. The young girl seemed to be just as out of place as him, so with a grin, he strode over to her.
'' I don`t think I`ve ever met you before. You seem... Lost.'' He remarked, beaming his charming smile at her. The stranger blinked up at him, moving her shoulder length hair our of the way.
'' Yes well, that would probably be because I have never been here before. Hi I am Eloise Montalli.'' She offered her hand for a shake, and Sirius took if gleefully, feeling her soft skin against his own.
'' Sirius. Pleasure.'' He bowed lightly, making her giggle at his courtesy. '' Montalli... Mon-ta-lli. I don`t seem to be familiar with your family. Half-bloods?''
She frowned her brows, shaking her head almost as if insulted. ''Purebloods. We are from Italy.''
''  That explains the slight accent I sensed. At what school do you go to?'' Truthfully, Sirius thought her accent was rather cute and quirky. He liked it.
'' I-... I was home schooled. Our whole family was. We always believed that we can get the most education if we had the teacher`s full attention on just a few of us, rather than a full class.'' She shrugged neutrally, reaching next to the table to grab a snack. '' Oh yes, I understand. And what year are you going into?'' '' 6th. Though, my parents have been asked to move their work specifically here, by personal request of the minister.''
At this, Sirius widened his eyes, piecing all the newfound information in his head.
'' Wait.. so.. does that mean... you're transferring to Hogwarts?'' He asked hopefully, feeling a sudden warmth taking over his insides.
'' Oh.. I- I don`t know yet. Perhaps. ''
They conversed for the rest of the night, Eloise laughing once in a while at a corny joke Sirius cracked from time to time. Usually, the dark haired boy hated these sorts of gatherings. It was no secret he was against everything the pureblood high society stood for. But for once, he seemed quite pleased with this night and he seemed to enjoy every second of it.
Regulus eyed his brother once in a while, noticing his joyful state and getting a slight wave of jealousy seeing him flirt with a pretty girl.
The night eventually came to an end. With sad looks and sighs, the two parted ways, but not before Sirius took the initiative and hugged the Italian girl. Getting a whiff of a sweet flowery scent, he inhaled it deep in his lungs, hoping he could hold onto her smell a little longer and wouldn`t forget her so easily.
Before he even blinked, summer was over and he was returning back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Seeing his friends for the first time in a few months was always a go-to. Reuniting with them felt like his heart was full again.  He could go back to pulling pranks and having a hearty laughter.
But at the back of his head, there was that lingering scent of the stranger girl he met at the ball, wondering if she will show up at Hogwarts. Not knowing if she did, he thought it unimportant to tell his friends about her YET.
The celebration was as boring as ever. Being a first year and getting placed into your house for the next seven years surely was a nerve wracking experience. But as one of the older students, you couldn`t care less about the youngest ones being placed in their respective houses, unless it was a know relative of course.
Sirius couldn`t catch a glimpse of the girl amongst the first years, so he sadlt dropped his gaze on his lap, ignoring his friends talking around him.
'' You all right Pads?'' The scarred boy checked on him, seeing he kept glancing at the first years. '' You looking for someone familiar?'' James asked curiously, forming a grin in a teasing manner.
'' OH no no. I was... just observing the children. They are so tiny, can`t believe we were like them just a few years ago.'' He sighed sadly, trying to convince his friends this was what was keeping him so lost in their conversation.
'' Yeah.. right.'' Peter agreed, looking at him weirdly and then going back to conversing with James.
Unbeknownst to Sirius, the said girl had been sorted into her house previous to the arrival of the rest of the students. She found herself sitting with none other than Regulus Arcturus Black, who was more than happy to welcome her to her new temporary family.
First day of classes was the hardest. Reprogramming your mind to waking up early in the morning, adjusting to both classes during the day, as well as during the night for Astronomy and finding the time to study or do your homework in your free time. Not that these were all things Sirius truly cared about. He was lucky having grown up in a pureblood lineage. They had access to education and all sorts of knowledge that was introduced to them very early on in their lives. So naturally, he was a fast learner and unlike his friends, he spent the least amount of time dedicated to school, since he only needed a few repetitions to fully understand something.
'' C`mon hurry up. I am hungry.'' Peter whined, waiting impatiently by the door, already dressed up and ready for the first day of classes.
'' You don`t have to wait for us. Just go and stuff your face with food.'' Remarked Sirius grumpily, who was putting on his white shirt as slowly as ever.
'' Ugh. You lads always make me miss the first round of sausages. '' And with that. Peter left their shared dorm and with heavy thumping sounds, he rushed towards the Great Hall.
James laughed, glancing at Remus and Sirius, and finished knotting his tie, ruffling his hair a bit followed by placing his glasses on.
'' Don`t worry mate. No matter how hard you try, Evans won`t agree on going out with you today either.'' Reassured Remus, before checking his school bag to check if everything was in order.
With a gasp, James stood agape for a few moments, before he started reasoning with Remus as to how he has been developing some sort of strategy that will DEFINITELY make Lily go out with him.
'' - and when she`ll hear it, she will come to ME to cry to-who you laughing at Pad? Put some bloody pants on and fast cuz we want to go down to breakfast.'' Sirius begrudgingly obliged, and with rushed steps they all headed towards the Great Hall.
They were scanning the Gryffindor table in search for their friend, when Sirius glanced by the Slytherin table by mistake and spotted his brother. However it was not his brother that made him pause his movements, but rather the person sitting next to him. It was HER. How come she never told him she was here? And how come he didn`t see her yesterday during the sorting ceremony?
Feeling a pair of powerful eyes on her, Eloise turned to look around for whoever was studying her. When she noticed Sirius, she happily waved at him, showing him a beautiful genuine smile. However, her beam faltered when she noticed he was not reciprocating her actions, but worse, he was glaring at her and quickly turned his back to her.
With a sad gaze, she turned back to her breakfast, only she was no longer hungry and slightly pushed her plate away. Regulus, who was smirking from the previous interaction between the two, altered his emotions, looking at her with pityful eyes, rubbing her back.
'' I told you. That`s how they act. They have no respect for us and turn against you once you join this house.'' '' But- we talked. At the ball... We had a great time..'' With a roll of his eyes, ensuring she wasn`t looking at him, he placed an arm around her shoulders and brought her closer to him, feeling her weight slightly shift into his side.
'' Who was that mate?'' James asked the instant they were all seated. '' Hello?!'' He repeated, seeing as Sirius completely ignored the question. Finally acknowledging his question, he raised his eyebrows at his friend, as if asking silently if the question was directed at him.
'' You were asking me?'' '' No, he was asking your mom.'' Remus remarked, huffing at the marauder.
'' Don`t know. I don`t think I`ve seen her around here before though.''
'' That`s because she is new. Transferred here this summer.'' Chipped in Lily, who just happened to be passing the boys before going to sit down next to her friends.
'' Then how come we didn`t see her at the cer-'' Sirius couldn`t finish his question because Lily was already heading towards her group and James in a rushing tone yelled after her if she wanted to study with him after class.
'' I`ve already promised someone I`d study with them.'' She said cheekily, winking at James and sitting down a few seats away from them.
''Bloody buggers. I hope it`s not that mop of greasy hair.'' He grumbled under his breath, biting down his toast with anger, which caused the other marauders to chuckle at his flustered state.
'' Potions as first class in the morning should be illegal. I can`t brew anything this early in the morning.'' Complained Sirius to James, who was nodding along and taking steps towards the classroom. They were usually partners in Potions whilst Remus and Peter would pair up together, or in this case, they had different classes than the two pureblood marauders.
Taking a seat in the very back of the class, they pulled out their textbooks, and kept themselves busy chatting with one another, planning future pranks and such. That only lasted until one certain student took a seat in front of Sirius, gesturing with his hands for another one to come take the available seat next to him.
Sirius turned towards James with a grimace on his hands, mouthing the word 'Snivellus' and both of them sniggering at the whole new pranking possibilities to make this class more entertaining, for them two at least.
Sirius` snorting stopped, once he recognized Snape`s Potions partner. The girl lightly twisted her body towards the marauders to collect the textbook from her bag, and attempted another smile at the Curly haired boy.
James returned her gesture, already being a gentleman by introducing himself. '' Glad to meet you. I see you have already been corrupted with sitting with the snakes. But I guarantee you, should you change your mind, our table is more fun and friendlier.'' He flirted, taking her hand and kissing the top of it. Not knowing how to respond, she giggled, trying to ignore the rush of heat that was making her way towards her cheeks.
Snape glared at James, and placed a firm hand on the girl`s shoulder, forcefully turning her around towards the front and with her back towards the boys. James frowned at that gesture and Sirius, who had been sitting quietly near his extroverted friend, furrowed his eyebrows at the action, but remained quiet.
A few weeks into the new school routine, Sirius found himself telling the marauders about his encounter with the girl during the ball in summer, followed by his revolted opinions surrounding her sitting with the snakes.
'' Not once did she seem like the rest of `em. I s`pose it was all in there hidden. All that time.'' He commented distastefully. As much as he pretented to now despise the new-come girl, his friends could see how affected he was by her being a Slytherin. It was as if, that small feeble stream of hope that she could`ve been friends with him, all dispersed once he saw her with that grotesque emerald green colored robe.
Eloise would try to greet Sirius every Potions class and sometimes in the hallways, but in vain, as he blatantly ignored her. His friends however often times would say a 'hello' back to her to save her the embarrassment of her being completely ignored.
Weeks later, she came to realize that her greeting attempts were not being reciprocated and so she eventually gave up on him. She strenuously let herself be taken under the wing of the Slytherins. After all, it was them she shared a common room with right?
That, however did not mean she could finally say she had found her people. With each passing day, she would be reminded time after time the reason why this house was so hated. Most Slytherins were too stuck up to even glance at muggleborns, or to ever apologize for something they did wrong. No wonder they all had such a bad reputation. She experienced this on her own skin when she was once being interrogated by her so called friends for reasons she was hanging out with 'mud-bloods'.
'' We were just studying. I was helping Lily with her birthchart, plus she's super nice. That doen`t mean we`re friends.'' She tried defending herself in front of half of the Slytherin students. Even though she started to consider Lily her friend, she wouldn`t dare say it out loud under these circumstances.
That night, remained forever scarred inher brain, as well as her body. The Slytherins saw fit to 'punish' her 'traitorous' actions and, just as taught from their parents, used some sort of stinging spell on the girl, that left her with a fresh wound on her arm.
It was a few months well into school, and the girl had no choice but to comply to the bullying of her own housemates. Not that it happened so often, however, she felt like a prisoner, always being watched by them, abused verbally and reminded not to associate herself with 'mutts'. Though she grew up in a pureblood family herself, she never experienced real school life until now. Her parents never forbade her from talking to muggles, moreover, encouraged her to learn their way of living, to see how they exist without magic. She had a balance around the area. Not obsessed with them but not hateful of them either.
Everytime Lily came up to greet her or ask her about her day, she had to sadly ignore her or keep the conversation as short as possible, seeing as her housemates would have a go at her again. And she was right. She even sensed a joy in all of them whenever she was inflicted in pain, and her cries were not helping her, but rather fueling their resentment towards her.
She had been desperately searching for a safe space for her to hide into, where she could let her tears and sadness out. And that happened to be the bathroom on the second floor, which was already with its own resident, a ghost who seemed to be weeping just as much as her nowadays.
She found the presence of the little girl quite comforting, since she was also sharing her sentiments. Though sometimes she did wish she could be fully alone, she learned to accept the phantomatic presence.
Her crying sessions would usually last hours after dark, with her only returning back to her dorm when most of the students were already fast asleep.
While she was making her way to the dungeons quietly, she heard footsteps behind her. Checking for any signs of a teacher of prefect, she simply couldn`t see anyone. With a new sense of fear, she was hurrying towards the common room, when all of a sudden she felt a hand grabbing at her forearm, stopping her from going anywhere.
Instinctively, she let out a scream out of shock, her heart beating faster than it ever has in her life.
'' Shh... You`re gonna wake the whole castle up.'' And as if out of thin air, none other than Sirius Black appeared before her. More confused than ever, she tried grasping her head, not knowing what just happened.
'' You- out of nowhere-h-how?!'' She breathed out words between each exhale.
'' I`ll explain it later. But more importantly, what are YOU doing here at this hour, and almost every night?'' Eloise was trying to come up with an excuse but then frowned at the words spoken by the boy. '' How do you know I come out here almost every night?'' The Slytherin interrogated smartly.
Sirius, seemingly speechless, gulped as quietly as possible, forming a believable answer to the girl, without giving away their beloved bewitched map.
'' I`ve-... Seen you other times as well. Just didn`t want to come and bother you.''
''Oh.'' That`s all she could say, hoping she was now free to go, seeing as she was becoming tired and needed as much sleep as she could get.
'' Well? What are you up to!?'' He pressed impatiently.
Scoffing, she crossed her arms and scowled at him, something she picked on from her housemates. '' Why should I explain myself to you?'' Acting all tough and mighty, she forgot one minor detail. Her eyes gave away everything.
Sirius was scanning her face, not even flinching at her cold stares.
'' Have you been crying?'' '' WHAT?! You`re honestly so ridiculous. You ignore me all these months, giving me the cold shoulder as if we`ve never met. And I-'' her voice cracked, which took both students by surprise. If she was able to conceal her sadness before, right now a new wave of tears were coming in strong, as she was no longer able to control them.
So she simply allowed each tear to flow down her soft skin, and blinking madly trying to clear up her vision, she proceeded to continue. '' You have NO idea what I`ve been through. And-'' Another voice crack paused her speech. ''- to think I was so happy to come here knowing I`ll have you as a friend...'' She shook her head, simply letting her angry tears take over her as she was starting to shake.
Sirius was speechless. He had no idea what to do at this moment. He was never the right type of person to comfort another, and in this exact moment he was reminded yet again of his incapability of it. So instead of sitting there like an idiot, he decided on a few pats on the shoulder, along with a bit of caressing them.
Eloise was bawling her eyes out in front of Sirius Black, and she was fighting against her own emotions, attempting at caging them inside her. Minutes later, she was finally able to calm down, with only a few sobs here and there. Her breathing was also slowing down, leaving space for her to blink any last tears away from her vision.
Sniffling, she shrugged Sirius` hand off her and dusted away at her clothes.
'' Goodnight.''  Not leaving any room for Sirius to speak, she swiftly turned back around and jogged down dungeons, the Gryffindor being left there in complete shock.
The morning news was the first priority of the day for the marauders, and for Sirius, it was the moment he told me what had happened the night prior.
'' What do you reckon happens to her?'' Asked James, who seemed to be quite involved in this new matter of business that revolved around the Slytherin girl.
'' Couldn`t exactly find out. She was almost choking on her tears so she didn`t have any room for an explanation.'' Half joked Sirius, which caused the werewolf sitting next to him to hit him in the stomach with his elbow.
'' OW. MOONY. IT WAS A JOKE ALL RIGHT? Ugh you and your bony arms'' He grumbled in pain, rubbing at his stomach.
'' I say we go and ask her.'' Shrugged Remus simply, sipping on his pumpkin juice and reading the Daily Prophet.
'' Yeah, that is a good idea.'' Chimed in Peter, who out of all, he seemed the least interested in the matters that involved the girl, but for the sake of his friends, tried to appear useful.
James, who was sitting in front of Sirius, had a clear view of the girl, who was squished between some Slytherin boys, and seemed to be feeling uncomfortable. Sirius followed his gaze, also observing the little hints that might be an indicator as to what happens to her when she enters the coomon room.
The marauders were all revising for a Transfiguration in the warm common room, when Lily and her pals entered all chatting worriedly, instantly getting the attention of the nosy teen boys.
''Lily, my angel. What is the matter?'' James found himself gazing up at the redhead, grinning her way. Her face scrunched up at the nickname, but approached the boys anyway.
'' Eloise, she was crying in the bathroom again. Said she had stinging pain all over her arms. Those heartless idiots..''
'' What are you ever talking about?'' Sirius asked more confused than ever. ''Listen. I shouldn`t be telling you this since it is not my business. But I am worried about her and I trust that in your most absurd and stupid ways possible, you could help her.'' She started, getting their full attention, even Remuses, who until now was still reading from his textbook, but now it sat closely in his lap.
'' She said the other Slytherins used a stinging jinx on her whenever she was seen talking to me or other... Muggleborns. Said they were giving her proper 'education' and she told me we can no longer be friends because she feared going back to her dorm.'' She finished sadly.
'' What the bloody...-'' '' Godric`s knickers I-'' '' We have to help her!'' Exclaimed Sirius, ignoring the weird stares from his friends for his choice of exclamation words. '' Yes but how exactly? We can`t exactly fight off the entire Slytherin house!'' Exclaimed Peter in fear of what his brave friends might be thinking as a solution.
'' Oh but Pete... Can`t we?'' Smirked James, who placed an arm around his chubby friend`s shoulder. '' We are the MARAUDERS. We love a challenge. And this certainly is a big one. We will prank them ALL.'' He concluded the leader,  winking at Lily who rolled her eyes and called on her friends to go up the dorms.
Sirius was satisfied with his friend`s response, nodding eagerly and ruffling Remus` hair in happiness and excitement.
'' Calm yourself Pads before I plant my elbow up your-'' '' OK GOT IT.'' They all laughed at their antics, and began planning their newest and probably biggest project, with homeworks and textbooks seemingly forgotten on the side. Eloise tried to spend as much time away from the dungeons as possible. So she found the library to be one of the best spots for finishing up her homeworks, doing her lectures and being left alone. There was also the fact that she was able to talk to other students from different houses without fearing that a Slytherin might spot her and report it back.
She was returning to her common one afternoon when she came across 4 figures standing ahead of her, at the end of the hallway. Her heart jumped a little, scared they might`ve been the Slytherins but to her relief, she was a reflection of gold and instantly knew those were just Gryffindors. Inhaling deeply, she worked herself up to get the courage to pass through the group since they were in the way. However, as she aproached, she noticed who the group actually was.
'' Good afternoon, Montalli.'' Greeted James politely. '' Uh, hello.'' She waved shyly, splitting the 4 and trying to find her way out of the hallway but a hand caught her in the same style it did that night.
'' Why the rushing? Running away from someone perhaps?'' Sirius asked intrigued.
'' No-no. I have to get back to my dorm. That`s all.''
'' We wanted to ask you something.'' Imposed James, in a serious tone, unlike him.
Eloise was dragged, almost unwillingly, into an empty classroom where she was interrogated by the 4 teen boys, each taking their turn to question her. She even shed a few tears towards the end of the discussion, yet again unable to control them. What warmed her heart and gave her some sort of comfort was when they told her she was going to be sitting with them during meal times.
She couldn`t really understand why they asked her all this, though they did say if anything were to happen to come and find one of them and the rest would follow. Whilst she was pouring her heart out, she often times felt Sirius inching closer towards her, placing a reassuring hand on her knee or shoulder, which in return made the girl a bit flustered.
After the confessions were made, she solemnly told them she really had to get back to her dorm, so they all offered to escort her there. Positioned in the center of the group, with Sirius and James on both her sides, she felt happy and safe for the first time here at Hogwarts.
Sirius took the indicators that she was feeling better as a sign to confidently grab her hand in his, holding her palm and giving their now locked hands a natural swing whilst they were making their way to the 'snake`s pit'.
What made them pause their walk was a group of Slytherins,  with an ugly sneer on their face. '' What do you think you`re doing down here? You blood traitors?'' Spat Mulciber, one of the students to blame for Eloise`s new forming scars.
'' Escorting a young beautiful lady to her dorms to ensure she arrives safely, something YOU couldn`t be bothered with it seems.'' Snapped Sirius, scanning the venomous students and noticing Snape was amongst them. He got excited silently at this opportunity to bully him.
'' What`s wrong Snivellus? Got jealous Eloise was spending more time with Evans than you?'' He teased, knowing damn well this was a tender subject.
'' Shut your mouth, Black. Leave, all of you before we decide to curse ya.'' He threatened, gripping his now pulled out wand, initiating the same action from the other Slytherins.
Eloise was grateful for what they have done, but she knew that this was not going to end well, and since it was because of her they all came down here, she took a few steps towards her fellow housemates, which in return shocked them at her unexpected actions, but quickly recomposed, wands at the ready to attack the Gryffindors. Sirius and James both frowned at her, motioning for her to go back to their side, but she simply shook her head.
'' Thank you boys, really. But let`s not cause a big fight alright? Have a good evening.'' She said her goodbyes, in hopes of dispersing the tension, but the moment she turned her back, she heard a spell being cast, and fortunately, or not, it was not casted towards her.
Avery, the third Slytherin that was present, directed a jinx towards one of the marauders, which was the trigger for a duel to break loose. Eloise was behind all the comotion, sitting there mouth agape and her heart pumping blood faster. She didn`t know what to do, should she join and protect her friends? Or just sit there awkwardly and try to stop them, fully knowing she wouldn`t be able to do that.
Attempting to shout a 'stop' once in a while, but in vain, she only hoped this would stop soon enough. A few jinxes later, some extra hands and antlers growing uncontrollably out of Mulciber`s head, the marauders all snickered at their results. She took one glance at them to make sure they were all right, and it was safe to say they seemed to have experience in duels, seeming as they all looked fine, with the exception of Sirius who seemed to be annoyed at his now 'ruined hair' and was trying to fix it. She smiled at that, which caused Sirius to look at her and wink.
The Slytherins had to rush to the infirmary to get their abnormalities off them, which meant Eloise saw a perfect escape for her to run up her dorm and lock herself in the safety of it.
The next morning, she remembered how the marauders Insisted for her to join them for breakfast, knowing full well it would cause an ugly reaction from the serpents. She timidly entered the Great Hall, in hopes that she might be able to go unnoticed by the loud group of mischivieous boys, but no luck, as she was spotted moments after she entered.
'' Oi, Montalli, here, here.'' Shouted Sirius, waving his hand and indicating to an open seat between him and that tall boy, Remus. Eloise looked to her left, noticing the Slytherins already whispering to each other as if planning something, but she jogged towards the marauders, making herself as comfortable as one could be around those loud baboons.
'' How did you sleep? Did they bother you?'' Sirius asked concerned, but for odd reasons not touching her as he used to do other times.
'' No, I was in my dorm the whole night. They can`t come up there,y`know. But I wanted to thank you guys for what you did. You truly are brave as they say.'' She complimented, making Sirius look down at his food to try to hide what looked like a blush.
'' Why thank you. But that was nothing. Can`t wait for you and others to see what we`ve planned.'' James informed excitedly, rubbing his hands in anticipation.
Eloise, confused, raised a questioning brow at him, silently asking for a further explanation, but none came as he dove in his breakfast leaving there dumbfounded.
But her wish was about to come true as Mulciber and Snape were fastly approaching the Gryffindors table, specifically for the girl, and when Sirius noticed her heart beating faster, he smirked the Slytherin`s way, whispering a ' relax' to the girl, which wasn`t the most reassuring at the moment.
'' So now you`re ditching your OWN HOUSE, to sit with with these?!'' Mulciber argued angrily, throwing the girl and the boys one of the most venomous looks she had ever seen.
'' What`s it to ya mate? She can sit with whomever she likes yeah, now c`mon leave us, you sort of interrupted our morning chat.'' James waved dismissively, only angering the two boys.
'' Move. Come on get UP.'' Mulciber persisted, directing his full attention on the girl who was shrinking in attempt at becoming invisible. She couldn`t understand how the rest of the marauders were so calm, and even more, smiling. They seemed to have everything under control, which further confused the spooked girl. Feeling a new wave of courage wash over her, she made direct eye contact with the aggressive Slytherin, and squinting her eyes, she said lowly: '' No...''
Mulciber and Snape, shocked at this newfound rebellion, decided to act physically. So then Mulciber went for it and to grab her firmly by her forearms, dragging her towards the green table.
'' You... You.. Associating with such beings. You`re insulting our HOUSE. Ruining our reputation... Can`t believe you dared do that aware of the consequences that lay ahead...'' He started spitting, but towards the end trailed his words, noticing almost all of the Great Hall was staring at him, laughing and pointing his way. This only railed him more as he continued to drag her towards the final destination, but something felt weird. He glanced down, maybe he had some stains on his white shirt, however something even worse was going on.
His pants were laying on the ground, exposing his boxers and his pale scrawny legs. The marauders let out the loudest barks of laughs, pointing at him shamelessly and therefore redirecting the attention of even more students on the hot-headed Slytherin, who had let go of the girl in an attempt to pull his pants up, but due to the anger blinding him and the attention of the laughing students, couldn`t successfully do so, without almost tripping and falling face first on the ground.
Eloise let out a laugh as well, deciding he was too busy trying to scurry away from the shame and went back to sit with the Marauders, who laughed and explained to her how they came up with a charm that whenever someone were to touch her, their pants would fall off.
Over the next few days, life was good for the girl. She was no longer afraid to speak to Lily, or even the marauders, knowing that she was protected by this charm of the boys.
Other instances happened when Snape was the one trying to lead her back to their shared common room whilst she was in the middle of the hallway with Sirius, but the same thing happened to him, causing Sirius to have a go at him in the midst of all the laughter.
'' Oi Snivellus. I think you dropped something. Oh by the way nice knickers you`ve got there. You shopping from the ladies section?''
It only took this much for the former bullies to drop their interest in the girl and to avoid her at all costs like she was the walking plague. She couldn`t be more grateful for it, so she wished to thank them.
She was walking outside, on a sunny warm day, searching for the boisterous teens, but she could only find the black haired boy, so, with a grin, she approached the peaceful Gryffindor, who was lying on the grass, seemingly taking a nap.
'' Hey.'' She greeted softly, not wishing to disturb the peaceful state he was in. She crouched down next to him, so she was at the same level. Opening one eye only, searching for the intruder, he found the girl that had been making his heart rate go faster each time he was around her, so with a soft grunt, he opened both eyes and propped himself up, resting his upper body in his elbows.
'' Hello there sweet pumpkin.''
Eloise scrunched her nose at the nickname, snickering at it before reminding herself why she came up to him in the first place.
'' So... You see, I wanted to thank you for everything you`ve done for me. I have no idea how one manages such a charm but, I appreciate it and I am glad you`ve helped me.'' She confessed shyly, feeling the grass between her fingers.
'' You want to thank us... or me personally?'' He flirted cheekily, wiggling his eyebrows, causing the girl to blush at his inuendos and scoff playfully.
'' Well obviously all of you. You all had your part in it.'' She decided to continue timidly. '' But... I suppose you more. You seemed to be by my side more often than not.'' Rubbing her neck Ina nervous manner, she looked around her, to avoid staring into Sirius` eyes, who were burning on the side of her face.
Sirius Black seizing the opportunity, smirked and moved his hair out of his face.
'' Yeah, well. I know one way you can repay me for what I`ve done.'' He suggested cockily.
'' Oh yeah, and how might that be?'' She caught on, flirting back slightly, which was something unusual for her. Sirius inched closer to her, Eloise following his lead and eventually being only a few inches away from eachother, to the point the girl was able to feel his soft breath hitting her skin.
'' Move a little closer...'' He whispered, closing his eyes in the process, causing her to do the same thing. Eventually, they locked their lips in a sweet, short kiss, Sirius having placed his palm on the side of her face.
Pulling away shortly after, they both smiled at each other, and just when they were about to go in for a second time, Eloise started giggling uncontrollably at Sirius, which made him furrow his eyebrows questioningly. But when she pointed down at his pants, which left his legs bare and briefs in plain view.
'' Oh nice knickers you`ve got there.'' She imitated his voice mockingly, the same tone he used on Severus a few days prior. Sirius rolled his eyes, but nonetheless grabbed the girl`s face again, bringing it closer to his. '' Oh shut up.'' He grunted before smashing his lips on hers a second round.

(Expanded my prologue for my Anaticula story to focus on the Maruaders era.)
This is a tale of three sisters.
A tale of two cousins.
Remus has a tail too, secretly so do three of his friends.
Jewels can sprout a beak.
Minerva can grow whiskers.
So, really, if you’ve got fur or feathers Hogwarts is the school for you!
The kids had to learn it all from somewhere. Even the most stoic of adults bears a colorful past all their own.

It was raining…
So hard, that each drop that hit the glass of the many window mimicked that of pebbles falling on steel. The wind had grew ravenous as a starved dog, howling and thrashing against any surface that came within its path. All other life had grown silent, hiding in hopes that the weather would soon pass and leave their homes in some reasonable form.
A man, frail in stature and pale in color, however, was up and about as ever. He had little worry, lost to his youth which had left him many decades ago. Now, with his mostly white, frizzled hair decorated with thin lines of brown, his mind raced faster than his feet. Bare as the day he was born, they touched the cold stone floor in order to keep him awake, for it had been days since he’d slept.
Grabbing the fourth—and seemingly the last— bottle of crushed gold he had in his possession, the man poured the remainder of the shiny dust into the cauldron frothing with fog. There was an intense aroma about the room; one he had become immune to. The smell had numbed his nose the fifth time he’d come across it, yet he knew that all was right just based upon the liquid’s complexion. Rich, and thick— the mixture moved smoothly and gave off a purple hue until faced with natural light. In the suns rays, or in this case, lightening’s flash, it glistened a deep scarlet.
For a moment he could feel his knees buckle; he had been too indecisive with this batch. The alchemist knew he should have made it a week earlier, but he had truly thought of letting go this time. And no matter how much his conscious scolded him, calling out his cowardice to face death, Nicholas Flamel could not help his instincts. Nor could he stop the giddiness bubbling in his stomach as he imagined that same flavor on his tongue. The taste of life.
Moreover, when he went to scoop up the first vial— he’d only made enough for two this time due to his negligence toward his ingredients— he was started by an abnormal banging on his door. At first he merely flinched, believing it to be the storms’ rage, but he could not ignore it after noticing a pattern.
The moment his mind registered the sequence within the dulling taps, he realized what they truly were…
Tap. tap. tap.
Tap. tap. tap.
Tap. tap. tap.
Someone was knocking.
He hissed as he felt immeasurable heat seeping into his hand. It would seem the vial was full, now overflowing. Dealing with the feeling a little longer, he sealed the vile tight with a charmed cork to which only he could remove, before he finally set it on his working bench.
Rushing over to the various plants growing in the open, cracked floor in the left corner of the room, he plucked a ripe bud from a vine and squashed its insides onto the inevitable burn. It’s sure to leave a scar, Nicholas thought as he rushed to the door.
Taking a deep breath, the man yanked it open to reveal something— someone he would have never conjured up in his millennia of thoughts.
A woman was crouched against the steps of his home, holding herself up only by the frame. She was wheezing, and soaked in rain and sweat— no doubt from a ruthlessly growing fever—
“Please, help us.” She pleaded, her eyes finally meeting his as she struggled to stand, making Nicolas scramble to her side in order to help. “We have nowhere to go.”
Looking all around them, the awkward man couldn’t help as his voice wavered. “W-we? Is t-there s-someone ac-accompanying you?”
It was only until he had gotten her into the safety of his house that he noticed the way she was still hunched over, and the specks of blood tracing the end of her skirt.
“Have you been h-harmed? Are you injured?”
He was quick to lead her to a chair, ready to access whatever injuries she may have had. Yet, all he found was her belly swollen round and blood trailing down her legs.
“You’re pregnant— I-I mean of course you know that— I meant you’re in labor!” He said with encompassing worry.
“I’m sorry,” the woman whispered before letting out a pained groaned. “No one else would answer and you’re lamp was on—,”
Her words were cut off by her own screams. She gripped the chair arms tightly, clenching her teeth as more color drained from her face and water fell from her eyes.
“No, no, no,” the man repeated before standing up swiftly and moving around his home as fast as he could. “Don’t apologize! Just make sure to breathe! And I’ll…,” his voice trailed as he gathered as much as he could hold, “I’ll try to do my best in taking care of you.”
It’s not like I haven’t done this in a century, he thought to himself as he grabbed more blankets and water.
Flinging the pieces of cloth onto the floor he placed the buckets of water next to where they ended, before going back to the still weeping woman.
“I’m really sorry Mrs— Miss?? Ma’am you have to stand, it will be easier that way, I promise”
The woman nodded, taking his hands in hers in order to leverage herself up. They both took slow, heaved steps until finally reaching the covered ground, giving no thought to the trail she’s left behind. As he got a closer look at her, the woman could only be with the first years of her adulthood. Which only made the wizard’s heart ache more, for she had still not regained any color in her face, and after pressing a hand to her forehead— neither had her fever broke.
Although, he noticed that before he could say a word about remaining on her feet during the process, she had already squatted down as he would have instructed.
“Are you comfortable— I mean of course you’re not, what I mean is—,”
“I’m not laying on my back!” She wailed as more blood pooled below her. “It was a cruel custom made by a king who only wished women to suffer! And I will have no part in it.”
She breathed steadily after feeling the cool water against her temple, looking over to see the man dabbing her face with a cloth.
“Thank you,” she whimpered.
“You’re losing a lot of blood Miss.” Nicholas stated, knowing very well that the woman knew.
Her lip shook as she nodded, getting herself ready to push again. “She can’t die. She can’t—,”
“Okay, okay,” he soothed, “do what feels right, I’ll get something to help the pain alright? Or would you rather I stay here?”
Shaking her head, she pulled away from his grasp and leaned forward. “No, I’m okay!”
He wasted no time, scatting numerous bags, baskets, and vials. Until his eyes spotted that familiar sparkle, lit by the crackle of a fresh lightening bolt. Without a second thought, he grabbed it, yanked out the cork, and placed it inches from her face so she could see it clearly.
“It should save you both,” he said, words honestly unsure.
“Should?” She asked with a small scoff.
Letting a small smile adorn his face he nodded. “You’ll just have to trust me…more.”
Her eyes flickered, blinking instinctively as another bolt hit the ground not too far from the pair. And for a moment, she swore it changed into a color she had seen only once before; it’s complexion reminding her of something magical.
“Brilliant,” she simply said with a short nod, opening her mouth in compliance.
In any other instance, the alchemist would have wavered in his decision. Normally he’d be particular, perhaps even greedy with his creation, but this time… it was as if he need not think at all.
He simply watched as it poured into her mouth until gone, and then as a smile prickled at the woman’s now, red cheeks.
She let out a small laugh, taking Nicolas aback.
“It tastes of chocolate.”
Tilting his head to the side, he stared at her with confusion and amazement. If it weren’t for her swift change in composure, returning to a pained cry, he would have corrected her. For that was nowhere close to what he had tasted over the centuries of curating it.
They would stay in that position for what felt like hours, truly only being thirty minutes. The man did what he could, trying to ease her pain by whispering incantations under his breath, while holding his hands under in order to catch the precious cargo the woman held so dear. Just enough to give her strength. Just enough to help. Just till she arrived.
Surely enough, the moment the woman’s arms went limp, letting her body fall back with no care, the baby had come. Laying in the wizard’s hands, quiet as the night had become.
The storm had passed. And the baby wasn’t crying.
This cause the mother to spout more tears of her own, sobbing and reaching out for her child. He did not deny her, delicately placing the newborn into its mother’s hands.
Everything suddenly became so dark. The night outside was chilling and bare of light. And the mothers rejuvenation seemed to grow weaker by the second. Her dark hair now dry and dull with sullen cheeks accompanied by pail skin. She’d looked like a corpse if it weren’t for those purple hued eyes, which were brown at first if Nicolas’ memory ran true.
“Oh please baby, you have to live. Please.please.please.please. Merlin let her live.”
Eyes practically popping out of his scull, he stared at her in disbelief and sympathies. “Are you..?”
Shaking her head vigorously, the woman’s gaze flickered about the room, landing on a pair of scissors on the floor. “Could you please..?” She asked, a small sob leaving her lips as she caressed her child’s stomach.
Furrowing his eyebrows, he follows her gaze before understanding. “Oh! Oh, yes of course.” He scampered over, retrieving the tool.
He glanced over at her tired figure, treading lightly toward her. “Would you like to, or would you rather I?”
All she said in return was please. And the alchemist couldn’t help but feel his heart drop. Gently, he pulled on the cord and cut it clean.
At that very moment, he watched as light peered through his window, and he saw a twinkle of red flicker below him. The babies eyes fluttered open, and in the light of an unveiled moon, one shined a bright red while the other a deep brown.
He had grown absolutely elated in those few seconds. Laughing out loud to himself in disbelief, as he stared at the child who still refused to cry. He felt as if he had just witnessed a real miracle. Real magic.
But all magic has a price.
“Look! Look! She’s awake—,” he throat got tight as he choked on his words, seeing that now the woman’s eyes were indeed brown, staring right back at him as her head laid limp from her body. It was a wonder that the child hadn’t slipped off her breast, yet there she lay. Totally unaware. And so quiet.
Suddenly, Nicholas could not see, for water had purged his eyes. Welling up until a flood of tears streamed down his face, the man felt a wave of sorrow overcome him.
“Oh, you poor thing.” He whimpered, closing the woman’s eyes, and picking up the child who was staring at him with curiosity beyond any of his comprehension. “I’ll take it from here, you can rest.”
Sniffling, he cradled the child to his chest with one arm as he used the other to cast a spell— cleaning both the baby and the woman’s body before wrapping it in fresh linen. He had no idea what he should do with the body. Bury it? Burn it? What would she have preferred? Did she have family? Likely not the good kind.
Should he call the minister of magic? Definitely not.
The baby cooed, apparently entertained by something behind him. When he turned he practically jumped at the sight. Her hand was stretched out, and everything in front of them now that the moons light touch was dancing through the air.
He marveled at the child’s abilities, watching as she twirled her fingers in order to make the plants he had grow and dance with one another.
That very moment, as he stared at her, and she stared at the moon, Nicholas Flamel made a decision he would never regret.
He took the ladle resting in his cauldron, not bothering with the manners of a vial and drank from it. He felt as his joints loosened, how strength returned to his arms and legs, and new warmth was brought to his body.
And sure enough, it still tasted of lemons.
***
The girl know as abnormal in every sense would grow, learn, and adapt faster than any child Flamel had ever know. For a moment he worried that putting her in Hogwarts when she came of age would bore her, for she had practically learned everything on her own, or through his stories of history, and the never ending amount of books he had in his possession. But he gave in quickly after she begged him to allow her to go.
He never denied her.
So she went to Hogwarts, in 1892, for the first time, and made friends that would go down in history. Two of which she thought to be her kindred spirits.
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore
And
Gellert Grindelwald
But that was before they grew up, and she stopped.
Her soul and mind may have changed, but her body stayed for same. Trapped in time. In youth…
Until 1976 that is.

Mauraders AU
Summary: Laine Crowley is the fifth member to the rambunctious 7th year Mauraders. For context, Laine is an Animagi too, she is an English starling of your preference.
She can also be considered a Y/n / reader at your discretion.

Laine Crowley's first two weeks back at Hogwarts as a seventh year, was nothing short of excruciating.
Her dorm mate and friend, Lily Evans , would spend long hours droning on about one of her particular Maurading comrades. On this particular occasion she was thinking with this chain of thought, Lily had started with a poorly constructed attack on James Potter, to which Crowley was blatantly tuning out.
While she pretended to acknowledge the firey red-head beside her, they sat in the bustling Grifindoor common room on a particularly cold September evening.
Crowley had successfully completed her Advanced Charms essay an hour ago and was positively itching to research something of her own volition before her ears fell off.
She scanned the sea of red and black robed Grifindoors, hatching something of an impossible escape plan when she spotted something to make her jolt out of her stupor at an alarming speed. There, beside her fellow Mauraders he stood. Disheveled and disarming, making him appear all the more handsome. She allowed her eyes to traverse his body, toned with something like evolutionary power, raven hair spilling over his shoulders in soft waves that framed his sharpened jawline.
She felt her mouth quirk into a flirtatious smirk and then suddenly she was staring at Padfoot, one of her comrades and the wickedest boy she knew... and suddenly she made herself with all her might conclude that he was quite ordinary. QUITE uninteresting. She shook her head to herself, Evans had noticed this and began an entirely knew assault upon James as she watched him from across the room.
"Shut up Evans." Laine smirked. "Or he'll marry you." She doged a hefty pillow that came flying her way and managed to gain enough speed to peck Lily on her fuming ginger head and sprint to the other side of the common room, narrowly avoiding another object that sounded much like a copy of 'Avanced Charms of the ages' as it came to a thud upon the cobble.
"Another brush with death Starlette? Any more of these and I'll have to start on your eulogy." Said the smoky voice next to Remus and opposite James.
"Good with a pen are you Pads? That's poetic, i almost thought you were serious. " Moony sniggered, while Potter tried to catch his eye with a knowing smirk. Black held his hand to his heart in feigned dramatics.
"Your death would be a perfectly acceptable occasion to showcase my remarkable talent. You've got to SAVE these things Star." Laine scoffed.
"Well if ever I die Pads, I'll be sure to be heroic about it so you can publish that in your autobiography." Sirius smiled with a gut churning amount of charm.
"Why thank you, that's very sweet." Lupin cleared his throat with a look of terrible amusement adorned on his face.
"When you're done flirting with each other, do you still want me to go over your Arithmancy notes with you Laine, you know, before i'm old and grey?" She straightend herself off of the back of James's chair and dragged Remus to the edge of the common room.
Sirius watched her animatedly pour over endless piles of books, while Moony safe guarded her with his endless amounts righteous patience. He scowled, at least he was being smart about it. Sirius glanced towards a group of rowdy seventh year boys gawking at girls as they passed. Padfoot sighed, turning back to James, he discovered Wormtail had sat down at some point during his daydream and was looking more concerned than usual. He retuned into Prongs's conversation and immediately understood why.
"Look at her over there... She's just so perfect. Isn't she? Like I've said, this year is our year fellas!"
Sirius gafawed. "At least you know you've said it mate." He let his head sink down into his arms, breathing in the smell of polished wood and parchment.
He heard James go on some more, before Wormtail tripped over himself just trying to get away from Prongs ten minutes in. James, noticing the common room was sparcer and that Lily had retired to her dormitory some time ago, made the journey upwards to bed.
Sirius decided he was rather comfortable on the table and soon the sounds of footsteps retreating to the dorms faded as he slept.
"Sirius."
"Hm?" He felt two slender hands attack his forearm.
"Sirius Black!" He opened an eye gingerly, to find an almost disheveled as he was Laine, looking spectacularly hot at 1.00 o clock in the morning.
"Sod off Starship." He yawned and sat up, his head slipping backwards onto the chair back. "Actually I've got a better one... Not tonight dove, I've got an early day tomorrow." He smirked at her in the glow of the dimming fire." You know how you get."
Star rolled her eyes, rising from her haunches and hopping onto the table top in front of him.
"I've had a thought Pads..."
"Dear God, everybody take cover!"
"Shh-" "I mean it, keep quiet, or Thomson the 'picture perfect' prefect will actually do his job."
Sirius raised his hands in surrender, peering at her from between raven waves.
"What if they don't stop?"
Sirius shook his head. "Nah. That's too general a thought for this early in the morning. For all I know you could be talking about Minnie and her secret love-affair- don't look at me like that Stars, we know she goes into Hogsmeade along with the rest of us. Where does she go? I'll bet she's apparating off with some bloke-" Delicate fingers shoved his mouth closed, as icey eyes bore into him.
"Some professor. You've said and I'll bet on it too, but listen before we get caught; Lily is off her rocker this year and James is just pissing me off, if they never get together I will have to babysit him for the rest of my life," Sirius made to interrupt but was cut off by both of Stars hands crossing over his affronted mouth. "Yea, yea Pads I will because you'll have a stash of fire whiskey under your leather jacket and I DO NOT want to babysit both of you while Remus is being clever and living in the mountains." Black clasped both her wrists with his free hand used his other to secure them to his chest, bringing their faces only inches apart.
"And this plan of yours is what?" Suddenly Sirus understood, his eyes sparking beautifully and then suddenly darkening with irritation. "It's risky. Could be done... but if Lily finds out, she'll have our heads, love." Sirius watched as the petulant amber-haired girl in front of him knit her eyebrows together in offense.
"Hogsmeade, next week. And don't you dare call me 'love'. In no way is that allowed." Black tugged her forwards with a lazy pull, internally relishing in their proximity as she fell into his chest. As she looked up, clearly about to tear his head off, he set his soft lips to her snarled nose, threw her around so that she sat shakily where he had been moments ago and made a mad dash for the boys dorm stairwell.
In the last of the red glow of the fire, Crowley felt her face burn brighter than the sun as she touched nimble fingers to her attacked nose. She shook her head, irritated with herself for adorning a face-splitting smile. As she made her way up the stairs, into her nightgown and right into bed, her smirk would not fade, hard as she tried to be rid of it. "Bastard." She closed her eyes, heart beating right out of her chest.
The next week in waiting was spent in darkend corners after meals and in the bustling crowd before lessons, devising the most brilliant match-making plan that had ever been conceived.
Sirius and Laine had racked up a fair of favors and this little plot was rapidly diminishing them all.
"Worth it though." Sirius whispered during lunch on Friday. Laine ran her hands through her soft curls, leaving her fringe in a ruffle as it rested over her tired brow.
"Not for me. You know how many times I've had to steal Prongs cloak this week? Add that to my Arithmancy calculations list and this damn spell that STILL won't connect my power - source to any magical component- "
"And you say the Prongs and Red verbal vomit." Starlette glared as though she had never glared before. Sirius was rather intimidated, but he would admit he loved his mother before telling her that. So, he opted to raise his glass in salute as he lent over his potatoes.
"I've got a year Black. One year to get this power- source thing ready before this war gets out of hand, you know it will. Otherwise I'm living with Remus for the rest of my wizarding career."
"James and I would happily take you in Starship." He pouted.
"I wouldn't live with you idiots if I was married to you." Sirius sighed into his potatoes.
"Ouch." He watched her haughty, slender figure tense- as he'd known it to do when she was set she was righter than Dumbledoor himself- then he watched her glance towards him, he watched her pretty face relax slightly and he watched her offer a rare apology.
"Sorry Siri." He straightened up, leaning in with a devious amount of charm.
"Haven't heard that in a while, I almost forgot what you sounded like when you're submissive. Silly me." He winked... he was slapped.
"In the dog box again Pads? What's this, the four-hundred and - tenth time?" Sirius held his hand to his cheek as he looked at James, Remus and Peter standing over the other side of the table.
"Thrilled you've been counting." Padfoot was promptly much more interested in his mangled potatoes.
Crowley found herself once again in a complex discussion with Lupin over very old, very cumbersome runes, to which James was only mildly interested as he watched a particular stream of red hair fly angrily down the Grifindoor table. "Twice in one day Star, you are not an easy customer." James nodded towards the red-haired witch fast approaching their turf.
"Boys, help-" the four of them watched their fifth Maurader being hauled unceremoniously out of the Great Hall.
Sirius, suddenly feeling much more optimistic, discarded his potatoes and smiled brilliantly at his friends. "Desert boys?"
-------------------------------------------------------
"Did you, or did you not suggest that Slughorn ought to pair James and I up for his biological depiction of the effects Amortica, essay due at the end of term?"
"I did." Evans blazed on.
"-And don't bother denying it, I know you've been spent these last few- What?" Star smiled.
"Unless you want to hide something from Potter, it shouldn't matter. James was top of his class last year with his essay, if I may remind you, you were second. Slug thought it was a wonderful idea. Thought it would really inspire other students to do better than the best. I, HOWEVER thought it would allow me to have a few restful afternoons till Christmas."
"Oh, you are a right arse, you know?" With that, the tempestuous red fury was chasing a couple of first years out of her way as she quite literally stormed off to Defence Against the Dark Arts.
Crowley sighed. "Phase one in motion then." She said to nobody in particular.
-------------------------------------------------------
Friday evening was spent waiting in a cold, dark hall for a very late Sirius Black. Croewn practiced mentally cursing him in varying ways, commiting various crimes quite happily.
"Sorry love, Moony, Wormtail and I were trying to stop James having a fit."
"Why'd you tell him before hand?" She realized after she said it, that she was too cold to care how the question sounded innocent and slightly relieved as opposed to her usual scowling rage as Sirius arrived at an attractive jog, breath turning to mist in the depth of the dark hall.
"Cause I did not want to spend my Saturday morning telling James Potter to pretend he hadn't just heard Lily Evans would agree to go out with him." She laughed as she watched the pure dread collect upon his features, as though his gorgeous face was a pool of contemptuous dew upon a wavering leaf.
"Alright Pads, you've had a hard time, you poor baby." She lifted her hand to pat his cheek, unbeknownst to her, sending Sirius's stomach into a very painful series of backflips. Feeling exactly like he was being a baby, he shifted closer to her. She watched his eyes grow dark with lust- she'd seen him look at her like this before but this was one of those rare occasions where she wasn't allowed to bat at him til he left her alone.
"What no comeback? All flustered over there, pretty bird?"
"Bit. But you see here - my darling 'mutt'- i will not hesitate to- " Just a hallway down, a hefty door opened and shut, twin pairs of foot steps echoing towards them.
"Ready love?"
"Yes." It came out much breathier than she cared for. "Be nice alright?"
"No." Before she could think, his lips had stolen hers in an amount of passion that was so violent, it made her knees buckle. He caught her, just, backing them up into the nearest wall. It was icy cold in contrast to his body, which was pressed so close to hers it was as though he was her second skin.
With an absolutely tremendous effort, he pulled away from Crowley, she followed him for a moment, trying to disentangle her hands from his soft locks of ebony without flustering too visibly. "So tomorrow morning then?" He said, just as breathless as he looked. "And I'll get James to come along, make sure whoever you pick is good or I'll have it for the rest of my life."
Clearing the knot in her throat with a considerable effort, she said. "Sure, see ya Pads." With another heroic effort he made to leave Crowley alone where the next part of their plan she needed executed alone. "Sirius?"
"Yeah?" He felt as though he was choking. "Why now? Why have you suddenly had the urge to stop being Sirius Black?"
And with honesty he had never expressed before he said, "Becuase I like the Sirius Black I am when I'm with you, far better than any other kind." Star smiled as she watched his very attractive back dissappear into the darkness. She supposed that was true but this wasn't for them both, not yet anyways. Maybe they could reconsider when she didn't have three million and one things to worry about every other day.
"WHAT WAS THAT?" And here we go. She sighed and turned around to find Lily in pure shock and Marlene had seemed to escape the position of shock and move straight onwards to outrage.
After an unnecessarily long walk back to the common room, Crowley was freezing with what felt like an on-coming cold deep in her throat after hours of somewhat fabricated, somewhat truthful events that led to what her girl friends considered a completely diabolical withhold of information.
It took another several hours after that to convince Lily she didn't feel comfortable going out with Sirius alone (a complete lie, she would apologize later). Then another forty five minutes of in depth kissing discussion before she could, disgruntled and embarrassedly throw her pillow over her head and fail to go to sleep for many hours after that, wondering the same intrusive things, ' what was it like to make out with Sirius Black?'
10 o' clock rolled around faster than Star had expected.
She was being jostled awake by a pristinly gorgeous Lily, with layers of charmed curls resting over her red- coated, woolen scarfed chest. Crowley awoke as though she had been told several bunny rabits had just been slaughtered beneath her mattress, stormed off to tame her mane of fluffy amber waves, threw on some flowing, blue wizards robes and black coat and raced down the stairwell, landing at her friend's feet.
They were gathered around each other, chatting quite happily. James was egging Lily on, but she seemed to be taking it quite pleasantly. Star was much to tired to observe this fact properly.
Something bi-coloured and warm was thrust around her neck with a surprising amount of gentleness attached to the end of the motion. "Trust me, it's pelting out there." Said that smoky voice Laine had come to adore.
"Oh, thank you, fair enough really."
"What kind of a comeback is that?" She sighed into Black's scarf.
"A tired one." "Well, that's just no good darling. C'mon I have a brilliant idea." She smiled walking over the the portrait hole limply. James followed her with an unnoticed smirk in Lily's direction.
Sirius rounded on Lily. "Hope you got all the good stuff for the ringer you put my girl through." Lily smirked evilly up at him.
"Your girl Black?"
"Mmm, yea, well, I'm working on it."
The four of them landed themselves in the Three Broomsticks with several smuggled in Fire Whiskey's down in about an hour.
Lily and James were chatting happily about their shared potions project, while Star was practically falling over herself with exhaustion. "Mhm, we're geniuses Padfoot, you and me." She was tipsily falling right into Sirius's side, a thing he did not protest in the least.
"Yeah love, just not while you're tipsy."
"Me being drunk has nothing to do with your smarts mister!"
"Ever the argument darling."
"Of course, I grew up with you boys, needed to be quick. Hah!"
"Does that mean you practice these little flirting outbursts you and I have?" Sirius smirked.
"Noooooo, it means that I just like flirting with you." She spun her finger around in his face, poking it straight at his chest. Her eyes widened, a mischievous smirk appearing on her lips. "Oh, that's muscle you have there hound dog. Damn, I must be a lucky girl!"
Sirius smile could only be described as a thousand KwT smile as he pulled Laine to her feet. "Must be." She reached for her tankard and was promptly pulled further away from the table. "No. No. You've had enough love, James, bring your - bring Red and meet us outside." Prongs saluted him with a lopsided smirk and Lily smiled, bringing hers and James's tightly interwoven hands onto the table top as they made for the bar to pay.
"I was drinking that. I don't think it did me much good, but it's the principle Siri!" Sirius was fiddling with his coat, which seemed to have come into some miraculous form of disrepair. "Baaabbby." Sirius grimaced, finally letting slip a bark of laughter as he watched her serious face. "Don't think that now's a good time for nick names Crowley. Man, I wish I had that taped, Moony even showed me how to do it over the summer."
"No. No, I'm not loving you, I'm insulting you. I'm calling you a baby." Padfoot rolled his eyes much more dramatically than he intended to.
"Naturally." He sighed. What is James doing? He was rightfully peeved as he waited in the drizzle on the cobbled street. "Hey." He watched Star wander out of the covered awning and into the street, seemingly staring at her reflection in a puddle. "Hey! You brat, come here." She didn't reply, in fact she seemed to be scowling, slowly verging to falling over. "Come on, try to refrain from passing out. Please?" Still not a word. "Lightweight." He mumbled as he stepped out into the drizzle to collect her back to safety.
"Siri? Pads, i- Pads look here."
"No, look never mind our plan, James and Lily are getting along swimmingly, can we please go see Madam Pomfrey before you hit me for getting you sick?"
"What?" She turned to Sirius, eyes big and glassy. "Sirius, I'd never blame you for that. No way, I love you. You knew that, didn't you?"
Sirius had frozen, in fact, he had simply stopped working. His hands were clenched to Stars waist, he was getting soaked and he was far to exuberant to care. "Say that again." He turned her to face him, hands pressed into her rosy cheeks.
" Hey! Alright, alright. Sirius Black, I love you. Very much. I've thought about your stupid arse naked far too many times to count and I cannot remember for the life of me when I decided I couldn't date you, because you've grown into a remarkable young man and I've been thinking this for weeks and haven't told you because I love you too much to screw around with our relationship, but I am a pitiful lightweight and I bow to you for your alcohol tolerance."
Far too much was going on inside his brain at this moment. So, he decided to bet on the safest option. He slammed his lips into hers, overwhelming passion and requited love pouring out of his very soul.
He had grown up. Enough to know he needed a partner and the countless times he could recall her just that was enough to give him a radical reality check. He had wanted Laine Crowley since she had saved their lives with extraordinary skill and courage in their fourth year. He had tried desperately to be rid of that notion, to tell himself he needed time to grow up before he dared touch her. He smiled into their kiss. He was grown up now.
"I love you Laine. I have loved you for a stupid amount of time and I want you to know- oh, you're not actually drunk are you?" She smiled, her hands resting on his as they caressed her cheeks. "Well, no. A bit, but otherwise no." Sirius glowered.
"That's news to me."
"Yeah well you were too nervous to get your 'ead out of yer arse."
"Please, like you were any better!"
"I was actually." She smirked, not daring to move his hands from her face.
"Ooo, you brat. You are so dead."
"Now hang on, you were saying you loved me a moment ago, don't spoil it." His face was nothing short of pure bliss.
"You little twat, before anything else you are so dead!" She peppered kisses to his palms, with a growing satisfaction forming in her belly as she watched his cheeks tint pink.
"I do love you, i can still kill you." He wrenched her towards him, kissing her until neither of them could breath, it was only when she was wriggling in his grasp did he remove his tongue from her throat.
"I'm running away now." Crowley panted.
"Nuh-uh. I'm not done being mad at you for entrapment."
"Well, to be fair, it was Lily's idea. "
"Yes, thank you, I put two and two together."
Just then the door burst open with a window shuddering force. "FINALLY!" James cheered. He turned to Lily, "What I tell you Lilypad? Pay up." Lily exchanged a jingling pouch for a full on kiss on the lips.
"Hang on-" Star gafaws "Oh hush, Jamie and I have been dating for ages. I thought you noticed last week when you put us together for potions but, then there I was talking to James and we figured it out." Lily beamed at them.
"You double dating, double crossers. That whole ordeal put me through a lot of stress." Sirius glared at James who pranced over to his two best friends and slung his arms around their shoulders.
" You lot thought Lily and I were getting annoying? No way. I could only take those forlorn, puppy love eyes for so long, so while Lils was bucking up the courage to say we were a shagging-"
"James Fleamont Potter!"
"Ah, sorry. Anyways, that we were, no longer uselessly separated. We decided to get you so irritated with us you'd have to get together to have somebody sensible to talk to." Lily smiled at the three people in front of her.
"Didn't expect you to try to get one over on us though."
"I'll imagine that was quite funny Red."
"Yes Sirius. It really was. You were beautiful."
Sirius smirked. "Sadist."
"Felon." She remarked back.
James shook the both of them on his either side. Sirius seemed to have givin in and was enjoying his friends victory.
"Prongs, stop. Or I really will be sick." There was some clamor to make sure Star was in good health, James and Sirius were never so protective of anyone other than Laine Crowley when she wasn't feeling well.
After she had convinced them that she wasn't dying and that it would be wise to find something else to do before she strangled them, Remus and Peter arrived.
Remus looked positively delighted, Peter positively confused. "So who decided to stop being an idiot first.
"Sirius."
"Laine." They spoke simultaneously and burst into a fit of giggles all the same.
"Nevermind. I'm glad I don't have to spend long hours soothing either of your aching souls anymore. That was worse than James."
"No?" Star protested. There was a collective 'yes', as even Peter seemd to have caught on, while Sirius simply wore a wry smile.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
"You owe me a bedtime story." They sat in front of the fire, well into the night when every one had retired to their dorms.
"Yeah?" Sirius waited til Star had finished kissing his jawline, to answer.
"Mhm. How you put all your effort into flirting with me instead of bagging me?" Black scoffed.
"Would you have said yes to the play boy?" Eyes drooping in the firelight she smiled, a coy glint flickering over her face.
"No. But I would've let you bag me."
Sirius rolls his eyes. "Now you tell me." Star flops down into his lap, wrapping her fingers around his hand, securing it firmly against her chest. "G'night, my darling Pads. "
"Not a mutt anymore love?"
"Nah, she yawned, " you're too pretty for that."
He smiled, never loving anything more than her.

CHAPTER TWO: THE BEGINNING TO AN END
You will also find that help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it.
Hogwarts was a magical place; figuratively and literally. The old majestic castle was full of various, mainly happy, memories carried by multiple generations, full of surprises, like many hidden passages almost no one ever fully explored and it was surrounded by one of the most beautiful landscapes, from the dark and dangerous, yet somehow terrifyingly beautiful Forbidden Forest to the Great Lake, which was home to a giant squid and a village of somewhat shy but territorial Merpeople. People liked returning to Hogwarts, it was like their second home; delicious food and feasts in the Great Hall were certainly a bonus point to their stay, but parties in their common rooms and dorm rooms they shared with their housemates, who in most cases became their best friends, even families, were undeniably the best part.
As great as Hogwarts seemed, maybe even was to some, it had its issues; the main one being the rivalry among the houses, which usually turned people, mainly ones from Gryffindor and Slytherin, against each other, friend against friend, sibling against sibling.
Asterin scanned Sirius’s face when they exited the train, facing something like his less talkative younger self, Regulus Black; Sirius gave him a frown while Regulus looked right through him, as if he, or Asterin in that matter, wasn’t even there. It stung, her heart ached for Sirius; they loved each other once, they were best friends as children and with her, they made a trio, the Black brothers and the Knightley heir. They spoke very rarely and even those conversations were limited to judgement and insults, and occasionally, Regulus threw in a snarky comment, reminding Sirius who he was; not a Black, not anymore. And it hurt Sirius each and every time, not because he wanted to be a Black, but because it was his little brother who was saying it; he had never shown a sign of it, however, but Asterin had always known right as it left Regulus’s mouth, because it hurt her too, for Sirius and herself. Despite the bad relationship the brothers had, Asterin never gave up on either of them; it took Regulus some time to stop fussing about Sirius’s temper (and his reaction to Regulus’s Sorting Ceremony), but it eventually got better as he grew older and more mature, accepting Sirius for who he was – an immature prick, in his eyes. Nevertheless, he still couldn’t swallow his pride with Sirius and Sirius gave him the same treatment back, which was why, although being friends, Regulus didn’t give Asterin a single look.
Who gave Asterin a look, though, was Severus Snape. He gave one to all of them; a nasty one. And he got one back, from all of them. He scanned them all with his dark eyes, a disgusted grimace appearing on his face, as if he just smelled something horribly off, and turned around, walking off with his friends. Asterin couldn’t help herself but roll her eyes, immediately annoyed; if there was someone in Hogwarts whom she would ban from breathing the same air she and her friends were, it would be Severus Snape, not only incredibly annoying, but also nasty and prejudiced bully Slytherin. She couldn’t stand him, neither of them could; the only one who could stand him from their whole friend group was the kind-hearted Lily Evans, who had known him even before setting foot into Hogwarts for the first time, what a poor thing.
Asterin looked around, looking for the redhead who had just crossed her mind; although it was usually quite easy to spot her and the rest of Asterin’s dorm mates in a crowd, she couldn’t see them anywhere.
“Maybe they already got a carriage,” Sirius noted, almost as if he read her mind. She nodded.
Without another word, the five friends all started walking to the carriages, as a soft, a bit colder breeze ruffled their hair; Asterin remembered she had a sweater in her bag. She buried her hand in the bag that was hanging from her left shoulder, pushing away what seemed like an anti-muggle propaganda book from the top of a warm brown sweater when she almost stopped dead in her tracks. She frowned a little from surprise, but quickly gathered herself to prevent her friends from asking questions; she scanned the creatures hooked to the carriages, dark and skinny, winged, and for some reason ones she had never seen before. She looked at her friends who seemed indifferent. Did she just never notice them before? Impossible.
Her confusion didn’t leave her even once they got on one of the carriages. The creature puffed, which reminded her of a horse – it certainly wasn’t a horse.
“Rin?” Sirius asked quietly to not catch the attention of their friends and she turned to him. Noticing his look, she realized he must not see them; she must have looked crazy, staring at nothing. “Are you feeling well?”
She chuckled a little; she actually felt a little crazy.
“Fine,” she said, sitting straight. Sirius blinked a few times, checking the place she was so intensely staring at just a second ago; there was nothing there.
Asterin fished inside her bag again, finally pulling the brown sweater out and quickly putting it on. She noticed an approving nod from Remus.
“What?”
“Nice sweater,” he smiled and she smirked, maliciously.
“I know, it’s yours,” she said and he frowned, scanning the sweater again; it was, indeed, his. The other boys scanned it too, remembering all the times they had seen it on Remus and then, suddenly, not, sometime around halfway through last year’s winter; it made them all chuckle in unison. Remus opened his mouth, half-offended and half-amused; how come he didn’t notice?
“Give it back.”
“Never.”
“Asterin Knightley, take off my bloody sweater,” he ordered, the corners of his mouth twitching.
“Take it off me yourself then, coward,” she mused, batting her eyelashes innocently, earning a whistle from Sirius, while James and Peter laughed and clapped. Remus squinted his eyes.
“Might just.”
“Go on,” she raised her eyebrows with a smirk on her lips. He copied the look on her face and leaned closer to her, while she raised her hands in the air to help him obtain his stolen possession, the smirk never leaving her face. He gently tugged on the hem of his sweater, but then stopped halfway, looking into her eyes; his smirk got wider.
“You know what, keep it,” he said as he let go of the sweater and leaned back on his seat; the boys started cheering again, on him, this time. Asterin’s mouth fell open from surprise, yet the corners of her mouth started twitching upwards almost immediately.
“How absolutely dare you?” she pressed her hand on her chest with every ounce of dramaticness she had in her; she deserved a pleased smile from Remus. She looked at Sirius sitting next to her in play disbelief and he sighed, putting his hand on his forehead, matching, maybe even outshining, her performance. The whole carriage was swallowed by the burst of laughter from the five friends; it didn’t stop until they reached the castle and as annoying and obnoxious as the other carriages found them, they didn’t care, after all, they were finally together after such an unbearably long time.
Laughter is good for the soul. – Asterin proved the statement right without even realizing; who did realize, however, was the dark creature pulling their carriage, a beautiful, yet for some terrifying Thestral, that finally felt in its normal habitat, feeling no eyes on itself. Nevertheless, the smart soul did find a way to remember Asterin’s face, knowing she would be one of those, whom its kind, from then on, won’t be able to hide from, ever again.

As soon as Asterin stepped inside the Great Hall, nostalgia hit her right in the face; she couldn’t believe it had only been two months since she last stepped foot inside the massive dining hall, it felt like an eternity. So much had happened during the summer, so many things she would rather have forgotten, that it almost felt as if she aged about ten years; she felt a certain linger in her chest, she was glad, glad not everything changed, glad some things stayed as they were, as she remembered them.
For a split second, she looked back, noticing Professor McGonagall lead the new first years inside the castle; their faces were so impressed and full of sheer excitement, that it warmed her heart. Her head was pleasantly spinning from the sentimentality, remembering herself and Sirius in their first year, right before the Sorting Ceremony; small and frightened, knowing what was expected of them yet not feeling the part, holding each other’s hand and eyeing their new classmates. She remembered how her stomach dropped when the Sorting Hat sorted Sirius; he was shocked, sending her a terrified look and she sent him one back, thinking the encouraging whisper she gave him after his name was called was the last thing she would ever tell him. She remembered how her eyes fell on the Slytherin table, noticing the look on Sirius’s cousins’ faces, they were both shocked; Narcissa looked outraged, offended by the audacity of her little cousin who just betrayed their whole entire family, yet Andromeda looked somehow pleased, as if a part of her expected it to happen. It was then and there that Asterin wished she would end up in Gryffindor, more than ever before, and for the first time in her life, she didn’t care what defying her mother on such a level would do to her family or her; she was sure she would rather face Cornelia Knightley for giving in to the temptation of being nothing like her family than leaving Sirius all alone. And so when the Sorting Hat sorted her into Gryffindor, she didn’t care about the scolding or the curses she would get from her mother, because she was happy to stay with Sirius – some would say it was just an act of a little child who didn’t want to leave her best friend behind, or a frightened child who didn’t want to be left alone, and they would be right. However, it wasn’t the only right statement, as the act was one of bravery and loyalty, the qualities needed to become a part of the red and gold-coloured house. And Asterin was all of those things; a frightened child with a lot of love for her best friend and a Gryffindor through and through, no matter what she was once forced to believe she was.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a giggle right next to her.
“What’s so important over there?” she snapped her head to her right, seeing the ginger-haired Lily Evans grinning at her. Her smile got wider as the girl pulled her into a tight embrace. She could smell something similar to strawberries in her hair, it brought her a strange feeling of familiarity, safety, something home-like, yet nothing like her own house; it reminded her of the smell of their dorm room and their bathroom after Lily left with freshly washed hair. Only then did she realize how much she missed all of the little things too; it almost made her feel pathetic, missing the smell of shampoo, but it was the truth and it was just about to bring tears to her eyes once again, when she felt someone else hug them both from the left.
“No hugs without me, birdies,” the blonde spoke with her deeper, yet still feminine-sounding voice, tightening their hug with her strong, Quidditch-exercised arms, which only added a bit more to the attractiveness of Marlene McKinnon.
“Or me,” Asterin heard the voice of another one of her dorm mates. She felt her hands wrap around them and gently stroke her hair, which made her smile; after all, it was Dorcas Meadowes and her dreadlocks who inspired her new look and Dorcas knew it too, as she was the one who was once trying to talk her into it.
“Don’t you dare forget me,”  Asterin could smell Mary Macdonald’s signature perfume before she could feel her tight embrace and she laughed, feeling about to be squeezed to death, but not minding it at all.
They all slowly moved to the Gryffindor table and sat down a little further back from their places last year, just as everyone else, so it created seats for the first years in the front. It didn’t last long until the door to the Great Hall opened again, revealing Professor McGonagall and the first years. She scanned the Gryffindor table, her table, eyeing the new Prefects, Remus Lupin and Lily Evans, and giving them a small smile as Sirius whistled at her; the woman didn’t even react as it became his little tradition to confuse the newcomers about two years ago, and just as they all expected, the first years that heard it truly looked confused, giving him weirded out looks or giggling, much to Sirius’s amusement.
It didn’t mark long after that year’s Sorting Ceremony started when Asterin started feeling restless. As much as she enjoyed watching the ceremony all the years before, guessing where the children get sorted based plainly on their appearance and their name (mainly enjoying clapping louder than everyone else together with Sirius when those from strict Slytherin families got sorted anywhere but Slytherin, much to all the older students’ hilarity), she wasn’t particularly interested in being in one room with the whole school; something about it felt a bit too exposing, a bit too unsafe. Everything around her frustrated her; the chatter among her peers, how the Ravenclaw boy a table over bounced his leg nervously, probably awaiting his sibling’s sorting, even Mary’s breathing beside her. Everything around her, every rustle and every sudden move, was beyond bearable and she couldn’t wrap her mind around why; she didn’t feel like herself, her palms were sweaty and she felt like every breath she took wasn’t satisfactory enough. She didn’t know what to do; lay down, walk around, hug someone or perhaps stay completely alone – neither felt right and so she just exhaled the air in her lungs through her closed lips as she twisted a silver ring on her index finger for about the hundredth time that night.
As concentrated as Sirius was on the sorting of a boy named Travers, he looked at Asterin; after all, he had already known the little slug would end up in Slytherin. She didn’t look good, not to him at least; she seemed anxious, which was rather unusual for her and something in him reminded him about their little unspoken deal from the train – they needed to talk. She looked as if she was in a trance, her eyes fixed on one spot on the table in front of her, twisting a silver ring on her finger around. Sirius furrowed his eyebrows, scanning the ring; he had never seen it on her before, also, Asterin had never worn only one ring. It was strange, everything about her was strange. He fixed his eyes on her for long enough for her to notice; she looked up at him and he raised his eyebrows. Asterin felt her heart being squeezed in her chest; his grey eyes were so genuinely concerned it made her want to crawl up somewhere and perish – she didn’t want to worry him, that was the last thing she wanted to do. She bit the inside of her cheek, her eyebrows turning slightly upwards; he hugged her around the shoulders and pulled her closer to him, trying to offer her all the comfort he could in such a public setting.
“You wanna leave?” he asked, to which she quickly shook her head, curling up into his chest, and hugging him around his waist.
“People will talk,” she said, his face forming into a grimace; did she just subconsciously quote her own mother?
“Fuck them then,” he said and he felt her chuckle, or perhaps scoff, he couldn’t really tell, as her face was buried in his shirt, hidden away from the world. He gently stroked her hair, trying to calm her down as best as he could right at that time. Everything felt strange. Asterin, who was usually very confident and didn’t care about what anyone thought about her or her friends, was now curled up in Sirius’s chest, gripping onto him as if he was her only hope for the future, her only safe space. And it broke Sirius’s heart, because he had known her his whole life; he knew her before she found herself, when she was just a little girl who was scared of disappointing her family, he knew what it took for her, for the both of them, really, to start forming her own opinions and dissociating from everything she was taught her whole life, and he knew just how much it would take to destroy it all, to make her feel like this. And it scared him, the fact the whole two months of her silence were a secret for him scared him, but beyond everything, he was afraid no amount of comfort, hugs, pretty words or stupid jokes could help the situation his best friend found herself in.
