This rarely happens to me, but every time one of those infamous SandRay gifs pops up from Ep9 I have to fight the urge to look away. It feels like I'm infringing on something.

Many others have already commented on this, but there's such a contrast with Ep2. I can’t find words to describe it. Thankfully it's all summed up perfectly by these last 3 seconds:

i think what kills me the most about the ending of the potc trilogy is how lonely it is. elizabeth leaves port royal in DMC to save herself and will, and the last time she sees her father, he’s helping her escape jail and handing her a gun because he knows what she’s capable of. he does everything he can to save her and dies for it. she frees the sea and kills the big bad and becomes a king and returns home and no one is there!! they’ve all died! she’s changed as a person and made all these connections and deals to save her home and it’s empty!!!! no man is an island unless the sea makes you one, and also sometimes your husband has to become death and can only return to land after 10 years. it’s too much man. it’s too much

#i maintain that if the series was written with her as the sole protagonist it would’ve been a lot more coherent #my hot take: i don’t mind that she didn’t stay a pirate at the end #but i do think it’s a shame she loses everyone and that sense of grief almost feels like an afterthought #i’ve talked myself into being more upset about gov swann’s death than norrington’s i think #although it sucks that he dies and it never comes up again lol #siri how do i stop thinking about this #it’s 1am i want to be free #bolt watches potc #pirates of the caribbean

lrb whenever I had my iPhone I'd always thank Siri when I was done using it but that's because I was. maybe am still. I don't know I don't use things like that for a reason. very much convinced of and afraid of the possibility that I was being watched at all times by someone or something even things like Siri (which like. Alexa and Siri etc etc those things are listening that's been proven that's the whole Thing about it) but in a nefarious way and I believed if I was good and kind to it I would not be inevitably killed by machines. but I think that's because I watched Maximum Overdrive too young and have a fear of technology coming to life and killing me but that wouldn't be the first time a horror movie gave me some weird shit
