Theater Review.

"Once Upon A One More Time" at the Marquis Theatre is much like "Bad Cinderella" and "&Juliet"; they are all juke box musicals. Out of the three, "Once Upon" will probably fair better as a show than the other two (Bad Cinderella closed already). While "& Juliet" had some really good songs to it, "Once upon" has songs written by Britney Spears, a huge star that has sold over 70 million albums worldwide. It also has two really big stars in it: Adam Godley and Jennifer Simard.

 The shows premise is the princesses from children's books... Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Little Mermaid, Princess Pea, Esmeralda and Belle. Little Red Riding Hood, Gretel and Goldilocks too make an appearance in this potpourri of a plot. The Narrator (Adam Godley) tries to steer the story of Cinderella but he gets push back from the princesses because OFG, a very good (Brooke Dillman) tells the girls that they have a right to think for themselves, it goes against the "Scroll Club" that all in fairy land attend.

 While the plot is questionable at best, songs like "Baby One More Time", "Work Bitch", "Circus", "Oops!... I Did It Again", "Cinderella", "Crazy", "Toxic" (the evenings best) and "Til the World Ends" will make you forget this cheesy of a story.

   The direction and choreography by both Keone and Mari Madrid were well done in that they keep the action moving throughout the two hours and fifteen minute show. Anna Fleischle's scenic design too is outstanding throughout the evening. From make believe to the realism, Fleischle has us marveling at her incredible staging. What is not so great is Jon Hartmere's book and Loren Elstein's costumes. Hartmere gets lost in the "woke" and he goes deeper and deeper as the show goes on, it leaves the audience just focusing on the singing and dancing by the night's end. Elstein goes from garish to the absurd in the costuming. She uses to many bright colors that not only don't match, but are painful to look at. In Kenneth Posner's lighting you get a suburb compliment to the evening. A multitude of colors make the stage pop; it works nicely with the sets.

 Why I think that this musical will thrive is that in spite of the bad story, it has great songs and very good acting going for it. Godley and Simmard are right now some of the best actors on Broadway, Godley (The Lehman Trilogy), Simmard, (a two-time Tony Winner). Also strong in the show are: Justin Guarini (Prince Charming),a very good singer as well as actor, Brooke Dillman, funny and charismatic Briga Heelan ( as Cinderella marking her Broadway debut); Aisha Jackson (Snow White) and Ryann Redmond (Belinda).

 "Once Upon A One More Time" wavers from really good too really awful, I'm betting that the good points of this show will carry it on Broadway for a while to come.

mean girls, december 27, 2018

here are all my thoughts on the mean girls show i just saw!! my whole ass best friend @crutchieee-morris saw it with me and i almost broke her hand a few times from squeezing it so hard, love u liz

ACT I

it was the 300th show!! that’s pretty awesome if you ask me

there were so many little reprises of It Roars where Cady just kinda sang her thoughts out to the audience

like when she was deciding whether to sit with the plastics and when Janis told her to spy on them she stared out at the audience with no music 

also on that note, TRUST ME 

REGINA’S ENTRANCE IN MEET THE PLASTICS

IS AMAZING SEEING IT LIVE

i was being gay for that entire song

i love Gretchen with my whole entire heart and Kate Rockwell was hilarious and sweet as Karen

What’s Wrong With Me is my new favorite thing

Ashley Park just looks so desperate and heartbroken the entire time

there is no hetero explanation for that

Janis was super clingy

she and Damian were always hanging off each other

when they were talking about their plan to spy on Regina to Cady, Janis tucked her hands behind her back and Damian stuck his hands in from behind her and motioned for her

it was so great

and when Regina kissed Aaron and Cady told Janis and Damian, Janis wrapped her arms around Cady from behind and i ascended to heaven

then Cady broke free when she said “no nO NO” and Janis was just kinda like “alright we’re doin this now”

“anD i WATcHED a SnakE EaT a CoW”

Janis, whipping her head to look at her: “sorry what”

i loved Fearless!!!! ahHGHHHHH!

when Cady took Regina’s place on top of the plastics’ lunch table, Gretchen put her hand on Cady’s hip like she did with Regina, but then Cady took her hand away and pulled her and Karen up to the front of the stage 

Karen ripped the sleeves off her jacket!! you wear that fabulous vest you funky gal!!

ACT II

“Damian, tell her about Phillip”

Damian, spinning in a full circle in his chair: “ughhhhhhh”

More is Better was SO GOOD

you could see bits of Cady’s old self coming out, and then she kept trying to cover it up with her new self like when she said “though in fairness that could be how i dress now. whatever, i look cuter.”

“stars at night, but here there’s so much light” they projected stars on the stage and UGH i loved it so much

we love!! Aaron actually having a character arc

he was actually a really great character and i loved the way he was portrayed

right before the spring fling, he acted like a dumbass with the principal so Cady could sneak past since they were both banned

I’d Rather Be Me, y’all

please excuse me as i die from heart palpitations 

Barrett’s voice is SO STRONG HOW DOES SHE DO IT

especially after playing Veronica in Heathers, that’s a really straining role but her belting was on point

i was wondering how they would do the bus scene with Regina and it was really good!!

“and that’s how Regina George died”

“once again, no one died”

cue Janis morbidly glaring at Damian across the stage

Do This Thing? wow we love

MRS. NORBURY HAD THIS ONE LINE WHERE SHE JUST B E L T E D IT OUT

i was so surprised!! but she had an amazing voice!!

Mrs. Norbury hired Aaron to help at the competition to hook Cady up skdjbfhkfxz

at the spring fling, there was a little scene with Cady and Regina in the bathroom and i actually really loved it

amazing character development for Regina, because you could still see parts of her old self but you could tell she was trying to change

the president blocked her on twitter

I SEE STARS WAS THE BEST

there was one part near the end, when all the main characters lined up and were holding hands

Gretchen held out her hand to take Cady’s, but then Cady grabbed Karen’s first and Gretchen assumed she wasn’t gonna be included and stepped back a little 

and when Cady reached over and pulled her over to the group, Gretchen broke out in this huge smile

IN CONCLUSION IT WAS SUCH AN AMAZING SHOW AND EVERYONE WAS SO SWEET WHEN WE STAGEDOORED AND THANK U FOR YOUR TIME AND FOR DEALING WITH MY RAMBLING

Guests Arrive at Princess Victoria’s Wedding: Close Friends of the Bride Arrive!

Close friends of HRH have started arriving at the cathedral including some foreign royalty!

The first to arrive, HRH Princess Mary of Brixton who has grown close to Princess Victoria since the Crown Princess of Alderaan’s Wedding. The friends have been spotted around by paparazzi several times! @thesimsroyalfam

Next to arrive, HRH The Crown Princess of Fairlake. The two Victorias have been friends for a while, she even attended the Crown Princess’s cousin, Princess Jade’s birthday party. @theroyalcoldwells

HRH Princess Adelaide of Valencia follows the Crown Princess of Fairlake. Victoria and Adelaide have been friends for a little over a year, having spent time together in Fairlake at official events. Although she is not an OG #PrincessParty member, she sure has become one! HIH Grand Duchess Margot, cousin and friend of the Bride attends the Royal Wedding! Summer Afternoons

@fatal-blow has bitten me like a werewolf and suddenly I write drabbles now. This one I can post because it doesn't contain any spoilers for a certain rabbit boy my friends are rabid to know about 👀

Prompt: 8. Laying a gentle kiss to the back of the other’s hand.

Autumn basked in the early summer sun, breaking through the light foliage of her meadow. Her faun ears pricked at the sound of grass and twigs giving way under heavy yet gentle footfalls, only one person she knew walked so carefully in her home.

“Simmard?” she called, not opening her eyes as the footfalls drew closer. 

“You always know it's me,” Simmard responded with a small laugh. Now she opened her eyes, the pupils dilated then quickly shrinking as she adjusted to the light. Simmards large figure slowly blurred into vision and she blinked away bright colours to see him more clearly. 

“I’d know those clunky feet of yours anywhere babe” Autumn teased, reaching up for him from her comfortable spot in the grass. Simmard batted her attempts away gently at first, taking off his pack and gear before succumbing to her persistent hands. Autumn caught hold of his left hand and forearm, pulling him closer she brought his hand to her mouth and placed delicate kisses along his knuckles and the back of his hand. His hands were calloused from playing the guitar and from his work on crew ships but Autumn didn't mind. 

Simmard broke into an uncharacteristically shy grin as he let himself be pulled, sinking to his knees at her side, watching her dote on his hand. When she was done peppering his hand and wrist with kisses Simmard took his own turn, now bringing her hands to his face and kissing each finger with reverence. When he was satisfied that he had kissed every inch of her hands (something easy for him to do as two of her hands easily folded into one of his), Simmard glanced up and came face to face with Autumn's enamoured expression. It took a moment for her to realise that he had stopped and when she looked up from where she had just moments ago been watching his lips brush her hands her face turned burnt red. 

“The Autumn blushing? I don't think my heart can take it!” Simmard pretended to faint, pulling Autumn with him as he collapsed onto the lush grass. She landed safely on his chest trying very hard to look annoyed with him, though her red stained cheeks and twitch lips gave her away. 

“Don't try your luck” she pouted, flicking his nose. 

Simmard only laughed and closed his eyes against the sunlight, content to lay with Autumn, wasting away the summer afternoon.
