{DAY 4 AND DAY 5}
[Day 4 of Intramurals: A Celebration of Beauty, Talent, and Sportsmanship]
On Day 4 of our school's Intramurals marked the beginning of the much-anticipated pageant. Each team, namely the Legendary Lions, Vicious Vipers, Silver Stallions, and Fearless Falcons, presented two representatives, a male and a female, who were the epitome of beauty, grace, and confidence.
The stage was set, the LED screen casting a vibrant glow, creating an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation. The candidates, looking gorgeous and handsome, first appeared in their sport attire. Their outfits, perfectly tailored, reflected their individual personalities and the spirit of their respective teams.
The pageant was interspersed with the Sayaw Awitan performances. The Silver Stallions led the way, their performance setting the bar high. The Fearless Falcons followed, their act, a heartfelt story about a boy who lost his mother, was a beautiful blend of acting, singing, and dancing. The emotions conveyed through their performance resonated with the audience, making it a memorable act.
The Vicious Vipers were the last to perform, but their performance was worth the wait. Their emotional delivery and the passion with which they sang received a standing ovation, a testament to their talent and hard work.
The moment everyone had been waiting for finally arrived - the announcement of the winners of Mr. and Ms. Pasiklaban 2024. The third runner-up titles were awarded to the representatives from Fearless Falcons, their achievements met with cheers from their teammates. The second runner-up titles went to my classmates from the Legendary Lions. Their success filled me with pride and joy.
The first runner-up for Mr. Pasiklaban was from Silver Stallions, while the coveted title of Mr. Pasiklaban was bagged by the representative from Vicious Vipers. The excitement continued as the winners for Ms. Pasiklaban were announced. The first runner-up was from Vicious Vipers, and the title of Ms. Pasiklaban was awarded to the representative from Silver Stallions.
The fourth day of our Intramurals was a celebration of beauty, talent, and sportsmanship. It was a day that showcased the diverse talents of our students and brought us all together in celebration and friendly competition. As we look back on this day, we are reminded of the spirit of our Intramurals - a spirit of unity, talent, and camaraderie, and we look forward to carrying this spirit into the days to come.
[DAY 5 " Today marks the final day of our intramurals, also known as "Pasiklaban 2024".]
Finally, the event was coming to an end. I woke up that day feeling a sense of joy and relief, yet there was a hint of sadness as well. Despite being exhausted, I was going to miss the excitement. However, if they had included Saturday and Sunday in the events, I would have definitely echoed Kathryn Bernardo's line, "Pagod na pagod na pagod na ako" charot.
I arrived at school later than usual as I had a headache from lack of sleep. I had only slept for 3 hours as I returned home at 11 pm after watching the pageant. As a member of the SSG, we had been given the option to leave early, but we chose to stay and support our classmate and friend who was participating in the Mr. and Ms. Pasiklaban.
Fast forward to the awarding moments. The ceremony was supposed to start at 2 pm, but due to some personal issues, we were delayed. However, we managed to keep the students entertained by offering free shout-outs to the students.
Certificates were ready, and everyone gathered on the bleachers. Our emcee, Sir Migs, began the ceremony. The winners of the solo dramatic singing and duet dramatic singing were from the Legendary Lions, and they truly deserved the win. I felt a pang of disappointment for my friend Hazel who didn't win, but I knew that there were better things in store for her in the future.
In the hip-hop dance category, the first runner up was the Legendary Lions and the winners were from the Fearless Falcons. Their performance was truly impressive. The winners of the various ball games were also announced, but I can't recall all of them.
Finally, it was time to announce the overall champion. The Silver Stallions were in 4th place, and the Vicious Vipers were in 3rd place. The two last teams standing were the Legendary Lions and the Fearless Falcons, with only 20 points between them. Sir Migs announced the 2nd place team, the Legendary Lions, and the overall champion of Pasiklaban 2024 was the Fearless Falcons. The Falcons erupted in celebration, and we too joined in the joy, not just for the victory but for the successful conclusion of the event.
The end of the event brought tears to the eyes of my fellow SSG officers. I held back my tears for a few minutes, but eventually, I too was crying. The Pasiklaban 2024 had officially ended, and it was a resounding success that brought enjoyment to the student journey.
As we come to the end of this remarkable event, I am filled with gratitude for the incredible impact it has had on my personal journey and one that has taught me valuable lessons, pushed me beyond my limits, and inspired me to strive for greatness.'
I"m Marc Jefferson Bonifacio and ending this journey of Pasiklaban 2024 with a great great heart.

Cannes is the ultimate advertising ICYMI
I try to keep up with what's causing the industry to buzz, but every year projects surface at Cannes that I missed. Here are some of my favorites that I didn't know about until they popped up at the 2023 Cannes Creativity Festival.
Chipotle Doppelgänger
While there are a gazillion of combinations of Chipotle's various ingredient options, agency GALE figured out how to tell when two people somewhere in the country placed the exact same mobile order at around the same time and messaged each where their "Chipotle Doppelgänger" was. Search it on Google and you'll see how much organic attention these received. Case study above. Agency: GALE. Lion: Gold, Data-Driven Targeting
Muskrat Magazine "Missing Matoaka"
The cynic in me couldn't help seeing many purposed-driven Cannes entries and winners as desperate attempts at trophies rather than sincere concern for a problem. But I admire this one for being so innovative and clever in how they attempt to counter the inaccuracies in Disney's Pocahontas. (And, okay, I'll admit that it's a stretch that their "client" is a small publication.) Agency: BBDO, Toronto. Lion: Gold, Silver, and Bronze, Brand Experience & Activation; Gold, Radio & Audio
I see Coke
Pepsi arrived to Saudi Arabia before Coke, so they have more share and spend more on media. “In a region where Coke is the challenger and not the leader, there was still one place Coca-Cola owned: movies and TV shows. So, we turned 100 years of product placements on the big screen into an interactive, shoppable experience using voice [Alexa].” Easier said than done. I can’t imagine what it took to pull this off, but it’s a fun idea. They claim that brand awareness increased 234% as a result. Case study here. Agency: VMLY&R. Lion: Silver, Radio & Audio
Opt Ink
McCann’s client wanted to increase the number of Germans who consent to donate their organs. Their ingenious solution: “a free tattoo designed by renowned ink artist Gara” and offered at 250 studios across the country. They promoted it at tattoo conventions, through influencers, and got a ton of free PR. Turns out 25% of Germans already have a tattoo, so they had a built-in audience. Case study here. Agency: McCann Germany. Lions: Gold, Social & Influencer; Silver, Direct; Silver, PR; Bronze, Direct; Bronze, Media.
Clash From The Past
To celebrate Clash of the Clans' 10th anniversary, Wieden + Kennedy created a 20-minute documentary celebrating the make-believe FORTY-year history of the game. This is reminiscent of the "Make-Believe History of Black Star Beer" which was also done by Wieden and also won big in the award shows. But I think it's okay to steal from your own agency's history.
In addition to the 20-minute documentary – which has was produced really well, especially the old commercials – the game makers invited current fans of the game to play games from Clash's make-believe historic origins. Winner of the Grand Prix for Gaming AND Grand Prix for Entertainment. Case study here. Full documentary here.
Cashback for your jersey's back
Just before the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Brazil national team made the jersey they would be competing in available for purchase by fans. The Nike jersey was the most expensive ever. Flash, "a benefits card" that gives cash back for certain purchases, announced on social that they would reimburse half the cost of the jersey if fans put "Flash" on the back of the jersey instead of a player's name. That's a very clever guerrilla tactic that answered a real problem for fans and got Flash a ton of attention. I won't say it was "free publicity," because they did have to pay out a lot to cover half the cost of the jerseys ordered before Nike's website blocked people from putting "Flash" on their jerseys. Case study here. Agency: FCB Brazil. Lion: Gold, Social & Influencer
Sorriso sponsors Sorriso
Sorriso is the name of a Colgate toothpaste and a big shot football player. “Sorriso” means “smile” in Portuguese. Sorriso (the toothpaste) were able to get their logo on the back of Sorriso's (the soccer star) jersey/kit AND wherever the player’s name appeared on stadium signs and TV screens. Then they did the same for a female player with that last name. I saw this one mentioned as a Cannes contender, but it looks like it didn't win any Lions. Case study here. Agency: VMLY&R.
McDrip
To recruit more young employees to work in their restaurants in Sweden, DDB got a streetwear designer to redesign McDonald's uniform. Even if it's still a hurdle to get teens to work at a fast food restaurant, I bet it increased the chances teens would apply to McDonald's ahead of other fast food joints. Case study here. Examples of TikTok here and here. Lion: Bronze, Social & Influencer.
Hilton Waitographer
To show the lengths they go to serve guests, Hilton in the Middle East brought in a professional photographer to train staff people – especially restaurant servers – how to take good phone photos. By TBWA/RAAD, Dubai. (It didn't win at Cannes, but it was in some coverage of Cannes hopefuls. I'm not going to include a link to the case study because it was silly and overlong.)

The movement, #WeThe15, takes its name from the 15% of the global population who have a disability: the world’s largest marginalised group. With the goal of putting the rights of the 15% at the heart of the global inclusivity agenda.
The Tokyo 2020 Paralympics start today! Our film launches the #wethe15 movement and will be shown as part of the opening ceremony to a global audience of over 250 million people. Made in partnership with Adam & Eve DDB, the International Paralympic Committee and the International Disability Alliance, we hope this film helps to shift the narrative around people with disabilities - away from one in which they are either stereotyped as objects of pity, or put on a pedestal
Huge thank you to all the Cast & crew across the world who gave up their precious time to help bring this film to life

Authenticity was a word I heard a lot today.
At the Cannes lions partnership with Deloitte panel. I learned that companies are trying to solve the worlds problems is becoming increasingly popular. This is because there is a universal social push to work together to help make the world a better place.
At the Elite World Group panel which was my favorite from today I learned that their are expectation of influencers from followers. Influencers are able convincing base that the product they are marketing is authentic, by explaining that particular project as a “dream to work with” that brand. In turn their followers view thar partnership as a goal that their influencer has achieved. In addition, learned that within influencer marketing Web 3 was join me where as Web 2 was watch me.EWG uses a substance equation for how to have content creation have high engagement. Attached is the photo of this equation.
I learned from the Burberry rep that their brand is able to be authentic by using the Gumby Theory as a rule of thumb. The goal of the Gumby Theory is no matter how much you pull and change you always come back to your core. Another way Burberry has been able to have longevity is a shared valued system which leads to a positive result that allows growth into new spaces.
At Meta’s panel with Issa Rae I learned that small creators are able to deliver the same engagement as large creators because of authenticity. The consumer is valuing authenticity over notoriety. I learned the best way for companies to approach and convince creators into partnerships is to meet them where they are currently and where they want to go in their career. Rae said, “I know this seems out dated but do your research”. Rae recently chose a brand deal because the brand was able to cater to her desired future directions in her career.
At the Film Jury panel I learned about the process of choosing the winners. First the jury starts with every film they know will get a medal, and they award them bronze. The next day they chose all the silver and so on and so fourth until the Grand Prix. This year’s Grand Prix winner Penny was nominated in multiple categories. Naoko Tajima mentioned that it was a film that from the start made her feel something and that every time she watched it her feelings grew. I was able to view the film at the awards ceremony the night before and fully understood what she felt.
At a workshop at Meta I learned how to create a Reel. The workshop reminded me of the classes the Apple Store holds for people who want to know how to use their Apple products. The speakers were extremely charismatic and made the workshop fun!
