song analysis of michael caine by madness in relation to siffrin!!
[plain text of title: song analysis of michael caine by madness in relation to siffrin!!]
having recently gotten into ISAT and spent considerable time with my qpp discussing songs that fit siffrin, I've come to the conclusion that it is SUCH a sif song. PLEASE hear me out on this (ive no idea if theres an overlap between isat fans and random british ska band fans but if there is then hi!)
putting this under a read more both because its gonna be long and contain spoilers for pretty much the whole deal with ISAT. also apologies if I fail to pick up my autocorrect making me type 'saffron'
okay so. chronologically through the song theres just a Lot that makes me think of him. this may entirely be a reach but im too big a fan of this song to mind :]
'he's walking where I'm afraid I don't know/I see the firemen jumping from the windows/there's panic and I hear somebody scream'-- immediately the sense of disorientation and confusion that goes throughout both the song and siffrin. also the lack of subjects in the last line (who's panicking/screaming?) further gives this sort of like. unanswered questions that I think really fits sif and their whole. deal
'he picks up useless paper and puts it in my pocket'-- this is sif in the sense of how throughout the loops they become far more disillusioned with how much anything really matters. it all starts to pale in comparison to escaping the loop, and this especially resonates with the complete tunnel vision in the final loop. ALSO the inconsistencies in the entire song between first and third person remind me of the recurring ideas of like. identity and losing touch with yourself throughout the game. idk. im not sure if that's the case with the actual meaning of the song but yknow
'he can't remember tell me what's his name'-- themes of identity and memory and losing yourself. yeah.
AND THE CHORUS ITSELF IDK. 'and all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep at home'-- obviously the photograph thing but that's very literal, plus the idea of 'home' both in the song and in ISAT. also the 'all I wanted' alluding to regretting whatever caused the loop? which obviously creates the sense of his wish only being to have some stability and not. Yknow. a massive time loop. but hey ho
'the sun is laughing, it's another broken morning'-- loop. sun/star comparisons to be drawn, and the connotations of 'broken morning' in the context of being forced back to the same morning (or should I say, afternoon? [: ) repeatedly. also the connotations of 'another' as something trapping you/repeating ad infinitum AGH its so siffrin
'I see a shadow and call out to try and warn him, he didn't seem to hear just turned away'-- this reminds me of the whole like. futility of sif not being able to meaningfully help the others and just,,,,, agh,,,
'he had to sacrifice his pride, yes, throw it all away'-- further themes of a loss of an integral part of identity. I see this through the lens of siffrin's attempts to leave the loop becoming more and more desperate to the point of willing to compromise anything (of himself) for escape. fun!!
'his days are numbered, he walks round and round in circles'-- Oh You Know. repetition and never finding escape. siffrin..... aside from the whole time loop deal this line is fun to me in this interpretation of 'his days are numbered' but as the different iterations of the loop growing in frequency as opposed to the traditional use of 'days being numbered'. idk I just love flipping idioms
'there is no place he can ever call his own'-- again the themes of identity and home (or lack thereof). sif having nowhere to return to is suchhh an inciting theme of the whole game and this just completely summarises that. I also especially note the 'very' and how it finalises the whole thing; his country is gone, his memories are gone, and unless Something stops it, his family will be gone as well. I need to lie down.
'staring out the window there's nothing he can do now/all he wanted was to remain sane/he can't remember his own name'-- final verse before the last choruses and dear lord. siffrin. again with just the whole,,, memory and desperation and resignation. one very very reaching bit of analysis here is the shift in pronouns/person between the 'I can't remember tell me what's his name' and 'he can't remember his own name'; the forgetting of the name switches from an external thing that almost doesn't hold much weight to something symbolising a complete loss in self. if I'm then applying this to sif's character arc, I think this really just shows how their relationship with memory becomes more fraught and more of a source of stress throughout the game.
SO!!! I absolutely adore both in stars and time and this song, and just think it fits him so well. do you see my vision

You don't have to watch the whole thing, he even says in the beginning that he split it up in to sections so people can just watch the stuff they care about.
The reason it's an hour is because he literally goes over EVERYTHING so. Not great that you can't be bothered to even hear him out, but if your sticking to that, then this person put everything in a compact list:
https://www.tumblr.com/the-final-sif/737183126647980032/dreams-response-summary?source=share
and no, it's not all bs, there's genuine proof and good points made about how the accusers are twisting things around, one of the people involved has already confessed that what they've been sharing is not accurate/correct.
Wag1 man
First thing j gna say it here n now: I'm not... A Dream hater? Well, I kinda dislike Minecraft fans who are unreasonable, but the rest idrk. And no, Dream? I think he's j weird on a bit of a spiritual level, but that's j judging him as a human, not as a content creator for the shit he's done or anything lol. Although considering he was an alleged "groomer" for a good half or more of the year, I think it's worth being somewhat wary of him.
(Ik that's not related to ur inbox-thing, Anon, but j thought i'd say bc there's loads of lovely passive-aggressive statements in me inbox)
MayB I j come across as harsh spoken considering I'm not tryna pepper my words + I'm British. Yes, please do read everything I post with an accent.
Okay, now addressing Miss Anon:
No you don't understand; I really don't care. I know he'll try beat the allegations and that's good4him, but I haven't kept up with the drama because it isn't something that interests me, so I would just be watch what is essentially a video essay in the first person(?) And nah, I'm not gna watch the sections bc I cannot stress this enough: I'm not interested in any of the drama or allegations. I just wanna see the audience response n know whether he fucked it up or kinda did something
"Not great that you can't be bothered to hear him out" - it's not like this is an assembly or a mandatory speech I should be listening in to, and by not listening in I'm doing some great disservice and disrespect to him... Man, I have shit to be doing, it's not being flippent or lazy by choosing to ignore him, it's just knowing that I have more important stuff to be doing rather than watching someone defend themself
Yeah, good post. Doesn't seem too biased, gives a pretty good summary. Cheersm8
Yep thanks for that too. Not sure about the tone but if you're pissed off then i suppose Dream's j doing his job in keeping his content emotive to keep gaining traction
J out of interest though, what's the general thoughts over Dream?:
(Dwt tag included bc i wanna get poll results from a larger data set)

Love, Sin & Evil
Vampires archetypes.
Tumblr media
The three archetypes of vampirism in love, sin & evil, symbolizes the three main vampires and who created the genre.
Tumblr media
The wolf is an old aristocracy that has not unclenched its fangs of tradition and power through the centuries. Producer Dracula. The main vibes are taken from Castlevania and Vampire Ball.
Clan: Carstein
Tumblr media
The cat is a mystical vice and temptation, inherited from an ancient era when vampires were not yet undead in the modern sense, but were either ghosts, witches, or demons.
Ancestress - Carmilla. The vibes are taken from the most romantic images of Bathory and of course Lilith.
Clan: Limia
Tumblr media
The bat is a prehistoric image of a ghoul before it became romanticized from the hands of Russian and British classics. Those. a humanoid beast living by hunting and thirst.
His ancestor is, of course, Count Orlok from Murnau's Nosferatu, performed by Max Schreck. The picture decided to concentrate specifically on the monstrous part of the vampire and his obsession. I would especially recommend the interpretation of this image in the film “Shadow of the Vampire”.
Clan - Strigoi.
Hunters
Tumblr media
Balmont {I didn’t come up with the name}
Time period: 18th century.
And the third pillar of vampire hunters. This time from Japan. The Castlevania series revolves around a family that has been fighting Dracula for centuries. Of course the last name was changed from a Japanese corruption back to the real one. Actually, this is the image of daring heroes who never give up and find a way out of any situation. Her character was infused with Hollywood and anime notes of enthusiasm and pathos (especially in the person of the smart, cool heroine).
The comments noted the similarity with “Dee Vampire Hunter” and it is more than true. The image was, of course, based on the works of Yoshitaka Amano and Ayami Kojima, which generally influenced the visual style of both Castlevania in particular and the entire Japanese game development in general.
Her weapon is also a gaming reference. Only if in the original it was some kind of strange boomerang cross, then I put a real historical Wurfkreuz in her hands.
Mysticism.
Tumblr media
Abraham Van Helsing
Time period: End of the 19th century.
Another father of all vampire hunters whose name has become a household name. However, in the endless series of action games, it was forgotten that the original character was actually a doctor and scientist.
In addition to the original source itself, his image has a lot of ahem... the doctor from "Ball of the Vampires", if only he weren't so shamefully comic. I really liked the concept of this old man who: “Well, first I’ll give my aching knees a nice rest, and drink this wonderful lavender tea, and then I’ll rid the world of this troublesome misunderstanding called vampires.”
In the story, he personifies the path of the logic - everything is knowable, everything is manageable, everything is conquerable. The power of science! Where there is not such a clear line between the annoyingness of bedbugs and the tyranny of nosferatu. Of course, he is either German or Austrian by origin.
Tumblr media
Solomon Kane.
Time period: Late 16th - early 17th centuries.
The character is as ancient as the very idea of hunters of evil spirits in the media. And in general the “father” of this archetype. By the way, it came from the pen of Howard, who also gave us another immortal Archetype: Conan the Barbarian.
In my story it displays the "Athletic" path i.e. act rather than doubt. Yes, in general, an unpleasant bloke who embodies the ideals of fanaticism capable of breaking even an ancient vampire with courage, and this trope “Who is the bigger monster?”
By literary origin he is British, but I also put a lot of Dutch traits into him.
Well, as I said above, Jorge de Fantasma speaks about him in SIF (Sail in the Fog) as a comrade-in-arms of his ancestor in the fight against evil spirits. This is also what Collins means when he talks about his shaman ancestors who converted to faith (and in the books he hunted evil there too).

Fic writer asks! 4, 31, 48?
4. what is the plot bunny you’ve been carrying for the longest? optional bonus question: do you ever wonder why you haven’t written it yet and experience deep existential dread?
Jumping straight into the deep end, I see! Well, to answer the second part first - I do generally jot down most of the plot bunnies that stick with me for a while, even if it's just a sentence or two, but the WIPs do tend to then languish in my docs and drafts for years.
For example the Girl Meets World Lucaya fic I've posted a few snippets of is something that's been turning around in my head since about 2016, I've had the start of a Critical Role Fjorester AU of Treasure Planet in my docs since 2017 or 2018, and the Thor/Sif Endgame AU I finally started posting I initially started thinking about after watching Infinity War for the first time.
I guess there are two that I've definitely been carrying for a while that I haven't written anything for and they are:
A Jyn/Cassian AU of The Shop Around the Corner with some bonus Han/Leia - the general premise being that Jyn starts working at a small independent shop Cassian's been working at since he was a teenager and despite an initial attraction they immediately butt heads and an intense rivalry develops between them, unaware that they're also each other's anonymous pen-pals. Cassian's also under additional stress because the shop's owner, Bail Organa, who he's always gotten along with suddenly seems to hate him for no apparent reason, because he doesn't realise that Bail suspects him of secretly dating his daughter.
A Final Fantasy 7 Clerith AU of Your Name, with Cloud as the small town boy from Niebelheim and Aerith in Midgar swapping places with each other in their dreams, only for Cloud to realise they're actually three years apart and Aerith died in a disaster when one of Midgar's plates fell - but now he's got one more shot to save her life.
I wouldn't say I'm filled with existential dread when I think about why I haven't started writing them, more existential despair because I know even if I start the chances of me finishing them are like not good.
31. tell us about one of your characters who’s an absolute joy to write
I always enjoy writing Peggy Carter - I feel like I've written her so much now that it's really easy to slip into her voice and get into the flow of writing her. And she's really fun because she's smart and capable but can be really snarky at times, and she does it in a very British way that is always a delight for me because it's so familiar.
48. do you reread your own stories?
Yes, I do! I like reminding myself that I do actually enjoy my own writing and I'm good at it. Although I'm always wishing this bitch would update like, god, why does she have so many half finished stories?

For the character ask: The Mighty Thor
THE MAN. THE MYTH. THE MY PROFILE PICTURE.
Favorite thing about them: Their thighs Their surprising emotional intelligence.
Least favorite thing about them: The condescending attitude they sometimes have to humans, especially noncombatants.
Three things i have in common with them:
Horrible controlling parent
Experience working in emergency medicine
Great hair
Three things i don’t have in common with them:
I probably cannot fight the God of Death and win
No giant pet goats 😞
I have never lived in Chicago
Favorite line: Hard to pick because Thor is a consummate smack talker but I think probably this one.
"All the power of the storm, from all the world, flows through my veins, and can be summoned by mine hammer at any time, wherever it is. A lightning storm in Japan? Mine. A hurricane off the coast of Barbados? Mine again. A brace of tornadoes in Kansas? Aye...mine. All that might, all that destructive force, mine to command. Channeled and guided through the mystic might of this hammer, guided right at thee!"
brOTP: Hercules!!! I love when Thor and Hercules get to team up (or beat the shit out of each other) it’s always a guaranteed fun time. And seeing these two similar characters together really highlights their differences and adds a lot of depth.
OTP: There’s no one ship but probably Storm? I like their juxtaposition, a mortal trying to live as a goddess and a god trying to live as a mortal. I think they genuinely have more in common with each other than just shoot lightning real good.
nOTP: Thor/Loki. No. For an infinite variety of reasons, no. Also I genuinely don’t like Thor/Jane and Thor/Sif, the former because I don’t like Jane and the latter because whenever they’re together Sif becomes flattened into a one-note love interest.
Random Headcanon: Thor has an Icelandic accent when he’s not using the Allspeak (ie, when he doesn’t have a faux-Shakespearean tinge to his wording) and a pseudo-upper class British once when he does.
Unpopular Opinion: Actually, Thor was treated significantly worse by Odin than Loki
Song i associate with them: …too obvious?

Favorite picture of them:

ranking random soulsborne (mostly elden ring) bosses based on how much i like them but my takes are kinda bad
uhh 30 least liked and number 1 is my favorite
30. godskin duo
nuff said tbh. terribly designed boss. from had no idea how to make it hard so they just chucked two enemies in the dumbass room
29. the monkeys from sekiro
boring copy and paste of guardian ape
28. elden beast
elden beast is probably one of my least favorite fights in elden ring. for some reason torrent isnt available in its arena so you have to go chasing after it every time it runs away 😭😭 average int build fight
you could literally give me melania spamming scarlet aeonia, maliketh with 3x his normal health, and the double crucible knights all in the same tiny cramped room and i would still probably like it more than elden beast
the execution leaves much to be desired; especially for a final boss. give me cool insane bloodborne esque attacks not penis dragon spamming elden stars
27. fire giant
i dont like the fire giant fight. yeah im probably gonna get a lot of 'git guds' for this one but he always gmfu. WHEN HE GETS STUCK ON THE FUCKING TERRAIN I START TWEAKING ITS SO ANNOYING
26. ornstein and smough
smoughs fatass ruins the fight for me i srsly cant take him srsly with that goofy ass giggle
25. death rite bird
design is cool but i really dont like the fight
24. night's calvary
:-( this boss couldve been really cool. its so glitchy in game tho
the altus plateau calvary glitch is really funny tho. if youve never seen it essentially it bugs out if you stray too far from its locked spawn point and gets stuck and stops attacking
23. renalla
ehhhh. i hate int builds. plus i think her fight is kind of boring. maybe im biased
22. magma wyrm makar
hes just annoying. i dont like his design. the lore is cool!!
21. orphan of kos
cool bossfight but i still need to git gud so he ranks low bc i keep dying
20. radagon
ugh. first, hes ginger. second, his attacks are insane. third, hes ginger
19. friede & ariandel (i think thats how you spell it)
fun boss in design but the three phases is insane
18. astel
ehhh. i like astel for the design but the fight reminds me of elden beast. lots of running away for like no reason
at least astel has a somewhat enjoyable fight
17. red wolf
i like the dog bc i think its funny it can do fucking magic and wield a sword but the fight is kind of annoying especially if ur strength build
16. mergos wet nurse
very fun lore wise but the fight is so eh
15. sif :(
such a tragic fight. i think it was well designed tbh but since all ds1 bosses are easy as shit he doesnt place as high on my list of liked bosses
14. godrick
godrick is probably one of my favorite fights due to how fucking dumb he is. he literally crawls toward you and throws wind at you. he has to attach a dragon to his arm to beat you and still fucking loses. all those limbs he grafted to give him power just weigh him down and i think thats really funny
13. margit
margit is a very fun first story boss. his moveset is pretty cool and i have his voice line engrained into my skull
12. moon presence
i love this boss mostly bc of the cutscene since the fight is kind of underwhelming
11. divine dragon
i love the music plus the fight is cool. i like the genre of souls bosses that are very sad and pathetic looking
10. mohg
mohg is one of my favorite fights. i love his voice. i love his music. he gets major points for being a lolicon tho #freemiquella #mohglordofbloodisoverparty
9. artorias
I LOVE THIS FIGHT. whole game you hear about this dude and the fight doesnt disappoint imo. i wish they kept his voicelines
8. maria of the astral clocktower
shes so cool. i love her sm
7. LUDWIG
amazing fight
amazing music
amazing lore
what more could you want points off for being british
6. isshin
isshin is VERY cool. i havent played sekiro in a while but i remember enjoying the fight
5. maliketh
his first phase is eh but his second phase is insane
the attacks are so cool and the fact he bounces off his own fucking attack is insane. what the fuck hes so cool
4. midir
very fun fight. yes its hard but you can really feel how angry and sad he is
3. malenia
honestly one of my favorite fights in ER. yes its hard as shit but her design is so cool and her lore is tragic
points off for nuking radahn
2. fortissax
i love the ost and i love just how... sad and tragic the whole fight feels? hes clearly suffering from the deathblight and the fact hes been fighting it off is so cool. even an immortal dragon cant fight off the deathroot which is insane.
radahn
i love radahn so much
seriously it might be my favorite fight in the series
his attacks are cool. his design is cool. his lore is fucking cool. his fight is so cool-- leading an army into battle and charging radahn is my favorite moment. plus the fact he fucking holds back the STARS is fucking awesome what the fuck hes insane
the tragedy of that accidental patch will never not be funny to me. pre-patch radahn wasnt even that fucking hard 😭😭😭 git gud you fuckign loser. pushed fromsoft so hard they accidentally nerfed him
honorable mentions that include some normal enemies (dislikes):
crucible knight duo
god i fucking hate this fight. crucible knights are annoying on their own but this is a whole new level. dungeon isnt even worth it
rykard
hes... fine... but his pool of lava is annoying plus the magic spam
fia's champions
how the fuck is this an actual boss
valiant gargoyles
FUCKKK THIS BOSS.
agheel
his lore is cool and i like that the dragonburnt ruins hollows like... worship him? its kind of cool. but his fight is either just cheesing or chasing him around. plus his moveset is shared by like every dragon in the game
erdtree avatar
literally just asylum demon
castle sol knight
iykyk. fuck this guy
gideon
FUCK YOUUU
rune bears
what the actual fuck. my first playthrough they absolutely clapped my cheeks
black blade kindred
nuff said
godefroy
literally just a copy and paste of godrick
istvan
weirdly hard? his attacks are insane
pets from dark souls 2
ew
ulcerated tree spirit
the fact that its attack is just flailing around in the tiny ass spaces theyre always put in is so annoying. the one in caelid is insane
honorable mentions that i actually liked
ekzykes, borealis and adula
i think theyre cool. yeah they essentially share the same model as agheel but like... magic dragons
plus i feel bad for ekzykes
placidusax
very cool boss. love him

(I haven't seen L&T so maybe that completely discounts everything I have to say)
Now that I think of it, we learn very little about what the Asgardian people think of the royal family. We aren't introduced to that many Asgardians. You've got the royal family, Sif, Warriors Three, Heimdall, Skurge, and Elliot Randolph making appearances as named characters with plot importance, and that's it.
This is purely headcanon, but I'm guessing Randolph is the only one that isn't a noble/very wealthy. Asgard is a warrior society, so being a warrior is not enough to be friends of the princes and to go to the palace frequently and commit treason multiple times to only get a slap on the wrist. And with the importance of the bifrost, they didn't just choose anybody to guard it. Throughout history, nobles have become notable warriors because that was expected of them. For this, I imagine that Sif, the Warriors Three, and Heimdall are all nobles. As for Skurge, he isn't on the same level as those four. Skurge met Thor in battle and was able to guard the bifrost, but Thor didn't remember him. Makes me think Skurge is some lesser noble or just from a wealthy family. Because some random guy probably isn't going to meet the crown prince just because they're in a battle together. This headcanon can also be used with in relation to the insecurity and recognition issues Skurge definitely had. And Randolph straight up told us about his life on Asgard, no need for headcanons. He was a stonemason who came to Earth as part of the Berserker army because he wasn't happy with where he was (wait wait wait did he come to fight the Jotuns in the beginning of Thor 1? Oh heck I probably should have seen this earlier. I know Asgardian aging isn't something we know a ton about but he looks like he could be the age) and in the end fell in love with Earth and stayed.
I wonder how everyone else thought about the royals? We have very little references to go off of. Well, Randolph wasn't happy in Asgard, and we don't know why. A headcanon could be made that he didn't like the royal family (he certainly wasn't massively loyal to the royals if he was ready to live on Earth after one battle). In a deleted scene a servant laughs at Loki (which is crazy because he's a PRINCE. I'm not a fan of the British royal family, don't get me wrong, but if I were in the presence of one of the princes I wouldn't be pulling crap because there are rules and enforcement). There's the crowd at Thor's coronation (which begs the question of who is allowed to attend). Then there's the emotional crowd watching Loki's death in the play. And there's the crowds reactions to Thor and Loki at the beginning and end of Ragnarok (though to fair that end one doesn't count, if zombies were about to kill me and King Charles showed up and electrocuted them all, I'd put aside my feelings for him for a moment until I'm not about to die. Except they lost their entire continent and were saved by like four royals/nobles and a rock guy, so maybe I would either prolong my eventual disliking a bit longer out of shock or impulsively punch someone).
Really, at least to me, we really don't know enough. All we know is that the people like Loki because of the reactions to the community theater's play (community theater, probably anyone could show up. There probably were lots of performances because this is about a PRINCE who recently DIED for the Nine Realms). Everything else, you can come up with headcanons either way. Servant laughs at Loki? Well, so does all the nobles and royals, the servants got used to it, or maybe Loki is more merciful so you can get away with more and the servant misjudged this instance, or people in general saw Loki as the butt end of a joke. Cheers at Thor's coronation? Well, maybe they only invite the nobles and upper class most benefitted by the royals. Silence when Thor arrives in Ragnarok? Could be shock that he returned, could be holding back disappointment because they don't like him. When Thor is king in Ragnarok? Well, their planet fell apart (literally), they could be in shock, they could be relieved there is a leader at all, they could be happy there isn't a violent war between nobles over who will lead them again, they could be happy that not only did their crown prince survive, they got Loki back from the dead so their government is in better condition than it could've been, who knows?
But with the stuff we do have, for all we know Loki is like Princess Diana or something since he is the only one we know for certain people liked. Which is crazy because imagine if in a few years it's revealed that this entire time Diana had been posing as Charles.

🌀Post the fic summary for a fic you haven't written/published yet. It can be hypothetical or something you really plan on releasing...
The coronation of Thor requires all the Asgardian Royal Family to attend; for Magni, his eldest, that means returning home for the first time in eighty years after having studied magic in Alfheim, as this ceremony will also mean his investiture as the new Crown Prince of Asgard, and though he and his siblings are happy to be reunited, the circumstances are less than ideal, as they're all painfully aware that they're looked down on by most of Asgard - and that they're not the children their father wants. Then Frost Giants appear and their father is banished and what seems a simple series of events suddenly isn't - their uncle is hiding something and might possibly be the reason for the chaos, Sif and the Warriors Three would rather Magni be sitting on the throne, and even Loki's son Fenris suspects his father is planning something terrible. (And on Midgard, Thor comes to the realisation that he has failed his children without knowing if he'll ever get a chance to try and fix things...)
This is for my fic idea 'Children of Frost and Thunder' - something which I really do want to write (complicated family dynamics are always so good, you know?)
🌈 Share something soft/fluffy from your WIP.
“I’ll look after her!” He promised. “I’ll be the best big brother ever!” “I’m sure you will, sweetheart.” “I will!” He said again, already thinking of how he would because that was what big brothers did – and Clay decided then that anyone who tried to get near his little sister would have to go through him first.
This is from the beginning of my Ace Attorney AU where Clay and Athena are biological half-siblings - Clay really is gonna be the best big brother.
☔Is there a fic concept you have that you'd like to just explain and share because you're not sure you'll ever write it? If so, what is it?
For some time now I've been considering an...interesting crossover. See, one of my favourite shows is 'The Protectors', a British seventies action show with a trio of fun, dynamic and interesting lead characters. One of these is Harry Rule (played by Robert Vaughn), an American living in London who has an estranged relationship with his wife and son - and in one episode the son is kidnapped to force Rule to assassinate someone. It works out in the end but his wife and kid end up leaving for America in what is apparently a permanant separation.
Their names? Laura and Johnny Rule - both blond haired, with the kid being fairly young (and the episode was set in around 72/73), and as I'd not long watched Cobra Kai the seed was planted of what if Johnny Lawrence was Johnny Rule. It would mean fudging the timelines of Cobra Kai and possibly changing a few backstory details, but we already know Johnny's father isn't in his life - what if that was because he couldn't be? And Johnny was too young to really remember any clear details, but what if he became curious as he got older? What if he managed to find out who his dad really was and why he left them?
I haven't really nailed down the details - whether this'll be in the nineties/nougties and he gets a chance to meet his father or whether he finds out around the Cobra Kai era when his father's passed away - and I'm not entirely sure if I will write it, but it's interesting to think about.

In Norse mythology, Rye is associated with the goddess Sif, who was known for her golden hair. Sif’s hair was believed to represent the harvest, and Rye was one of the crops that she was associated with. Rye was therefore seen as a symbol of fertility, growth, and rebirth."
In Native American culture, Rye is often associated with the Lakota Sioux tribe. The Lakota Sioux believe that Rye represents the cycle of life and death, as it grows and dies in a single growing season. Rye is also seen as a symbol of sustenance, as it was used to make bread and other food items." (Source)
Rye can also be short for Riley, Ryden, Ryder, or any other Ry- beginning name.
Alternative spellings of this name are Ry and Rie.

Backstory
Evelina was born to Odin and Frigga the goddess of fire and the hearth, a position she is justly proud of every day of her life. When she was young, like her older brothers, was promised the throne but as she grew older the less appealing it became. Eve is a free spirit, chasing her own bliss and destiny every step of the way. The mantle of queen is limiting in certain respects and that is not something Eve is interested in.
Instead of obsessing over whether she’s going to rule someday, Eve spends her time telling animated stories to Asgard’s children and training to be a formidible warrior. She is not as powerful on the battlefield as Sif but she is not far behind. Her weapon of choice is a gorgeous sword that she often enchants with her fire in a similar manner to Thor. It is always contained and easy to control though.
When Loki betrays the family, after learning of his real heritage, Eve refuses to abandon hope for him. He’s her older brother, her best friend since she was small, how could she?
It’s during the approach of Ragnarök that things really get difficult. Eve too gets sent to Sakaar, landing alone in the wastes as well. She becomes a fighter, lined up for the smaller opening fights. She sees Loki in The Grandmaster’s box and finally has enough. Excuse after excuse she’s made for her brother and now he can’t even be bothered to help her escape?
She snaps, coming further into her powers than she ever has before, the fire within her, finally allowed to escape. It’s rather freeing for her actually.
Eventually Thor arrives and Ragnarök plays out the only way it can. Asgard escapes its fate momentarily before Thanos rears his ugly head. He kills half her people in front of her, kills her brother and leaves, having the audacity to claim they should be grateful.
The Mad Titan also unfortunately wins, sending her and Thor into a deeper despair than they were before. Eve is spared the snap as well and works for those five years to do everything she can to feel as though she’s earned it. She helps her brother’s friends in any way she can, choosing to work herself to bone rather than wallow in the twisted, cold, swirling pile of emotions in her gut.
Eventually, thanks to Scott Lang, a plan is formed. Time travel! Eve is embarrassed to find that the first thought that crosses her mind when that idea is posited, is to go back to Sakaar and grab her brother and bring him back.
A variant of hers actually does this leading to a whole batch of adventures in the TVA and the end of time itself, but that’s a story for a different day.
Her life is supposed to continue past that, to saving the world from Thanos’ deeds and beyond on the sacred timeline. But rebels are always more fun aren’t they?

Drayton Manor, am I right Thomas fans?
But no seriously, the usual suspects of UK prop preservation aren't truly the only ones to blame. Don't get me wrong, their inattentiveness to truly keeping character models in good condition is deplorable, but the Drayton Manor staff could've been payed to take better care of it if a theme park wasn't the place they were stored.
Let's look at the facts:
Tumblr media
Here's Drayton Manor as a theme park. As you can see, it's got not only tons of rides to keep maintained but several restaurants at which you'd need to keep up the health standards of, a hotel and even a zoo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And where is the Discover Thomas exhibition here? In a tiny hall on the end of the Thomas, Percy and Rosie railway line far away from the rest of the Thomas Land rides.
See how the hall is only so long? And of course with the models having not been used in 15 years, the models are more likely to be taken for granted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If these models have to be preserved in Britain (because British pride is as valuable to SiF members' living essence as water and oxygen) put them in their own display in a museum, like those props on the 1998 series of Bob the Builder are in London's Museum of Science and Industry and Postman Pat's props in Waterside Arts Centre in Manchester.
