it's called a sidecut and it's a side shaved hair but not all hairdressers do this so you have to research a lot. for peace of mind and safety, the best length for a sidecut is medium to short hair. For a classic side cut, the tapered sides and back really let the style pop. For the best result, talk to your stylist and let them know if you prefer a scissors-only cut or a trimmer over scissors. These two types of cuts allow you to keep the sides and back sharp, whereas a trimmer-only cut tends to fade the hair, resulting in a style that is less recommended for a side-cut style.

For the upper part, the smaller the better. The longer the hair on top, the messier the look tends to become. A sidecut that sits low on the hairline will allow you to step out with a longer length on top and keep the style looking sharp and classic no matter the length as long as it's short or medium. and it looks prettier when used in a gradient effect and with streaks, obviously women can also use this type of hair. I use the fake version of it since I can't shave on the side.

i decided i'd cut my sidecut too high and I've been letting the top part of it grow back out and it's about an inch long now and frankly if i pull my hair back to show off my sidecut it currently looks like i've got half a tonsure under there
