In your head | Leah Williamson
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Leah Williamson x reader It's England's match against the Netherlands, and your girlfriend is willing to do anything to win. Warnings: I think you may find some of the comments a little suggestive. note: set in England's last game, but I changed a few things here and there
You hadn't seen Leah for days, each of you in a different country preparing for a big game as it was every time England played the Netherlands. Your team a little more comfortable than Leah's in terms of qualification, but you would be playing at Wembley in front of an abysmal crowd and as Leah used to say, "The English are never done", so at the end of the day it was a tough game.
At your feet was the chance for your girlfriend to qualify for the Olympics next year, but there was also the chance to take your team to the Olympics.
"Good morning, Miss England" Jill sat down next to you for breakfast, ruffling your hair as she passed behind you.
"Shut up" you said arranging your hair back to how it was before "Why are you only picking on me, Viv is sitting right in front of me and no one says anything to her."
Viv raised her head and smiled mischievously. "Don't drag me into your fights, kiddo."
"Well Viv's face doesn't change every time she has to play against her girlfriend" Jill said as if it was nothing "But you instead haven't smiled for days because you keep thinking about how you don't want to kick your girlfriend's ass."
"These are tough days" you muttered lowering your head "This week it's this game, but then when I go back to England it's Arsenal against Chelsea".
That was another factor, you were playing for Chelsea, having only just won a starting place this season, and winning that game would mean securing the top spot in the table, but Arsenal was desperate for those 3 points and of course Leah was too.
"You're messing with your own head," Viv commented, folding her arms on the table, "Leah knows how to separate things and you should do the same."
"Just worry about giving 100% of yourself" said Jill patting you on the back "Because I assure you Leah will."
"How was the flight?" Leah looked radiant through the screen, smiling practically from ear to ear "You look tired".
"Uh... yeah, I didn't get much sleep during the flight" you mentioned settling better in your bed "How have you been feeling these days? No complications during training?"
Leah narrowed her eyes "Are you trying to get information out of me?"
"What?! Of course not!" you quickly defended yourself "I'm concerned about the physical health of my girlfriend who is apparently going to have her first game as a starter since her injury"
"I'll pretend I believe you" Leah replied laughing "But everything's fine, according to Sarina I'm fit enough to start."
"Good news then"
"Huh, tell your face that" muttered Leah frowning "You know you don't have to go easy on me during the game, right?"
"Yeah" A lie.
"Babe, we're professionals, it's our job to do this. A lot can happen in a match, whoever wins this isn't better than the other, okay? Everything will still be fine."
"I know... it just feels weird."
Leah disappeared for a few seconds from your screen.
"Uh, the girls are calling me. I should go, but please stop thinking about us like that, okay? Go to sleep, I love you."
"Hm, I love you more. Bye."
The atmosphere in the stadium was overwhelming, the energy of the crowd could be felt from the tunnel.
"Looking good, number 25" Leah's voice sounded behind you.
"Uh, you too" you muttered without even turning to look at her, your eyes fixed on Jill's back, who was watching the situation out of the corner of her eye.
"Oh… but love, you haven't even looked at me" her tone was full of teasing. That plus the mixture of her perfume in the air was starting to get to you, "Babe?" your girlfriend's fingers took your chin and made you turn to look at her. "Hi" her smile was dazzling, she knew she was getting what she wanted "How do I look?" she asked raising her eyebrow.
You looked her up and down instinctively, did she look better than usual today? Probably. She always looked good when she wore her England kit, but today she looked amazing.
"You look... amazing" you replied almost as if Leah's gaze had you under a spell.
"What the fuck" Jill turned away, fed up with the situation, slapping Leah's arm to get her to let you go "Get out of here, Williamson."
Leah immediately raised her hands, pretending to be innocent, when she saw Daan also approaching to see what was going on.
"Good luck" she said looking at them and walked off to the start of the tunnel but not before winking at you.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" said Jill giving you a little shake.
"What?"
"Your girlfriend is getting in your head" Daan said looking sideways at Leah who was still smiling "Please YN, we all here know Leah, we knew it was going to be like this because she needs to win this game"
"I told you Leah would give her 100%, and if she's resorting to these stunts it's because she doesn't care if she has to beat you, she'll get it one way or another." said Jill "Listen to me, you will go out there, do your job, you will destroy Earps goal and only after that you will remember again that your girlfriend is the England captain, do you hear me?" this time Jill whispered in your ear as all the other girls from the England team had arrived in the tunnel.
"Okay, enough you two" you said getting a little annoyed "I'm a professional woman, I won't let my relationship affect my work and you should trust me as my teammates and friends.”
"We just want to make sure that-"
"No, I'm not a child who should be told what to do, now shut up you two" was the last thing you said to focus your eyes straight ahead, totally concentrated.
You were so focused on the game that you didn't even notice Daan and Jill high fiving behind you.
The first goal for your team came after the first 10 minutes, thanks to you and your ability to leave Lucy Bronze behind you. You also had another advantage, it wasn't the first time you had faced Earps so you knew where to shoot at the right time, so it was no surprise that your shot ended up in the back of the net.
Jill was the first to jump on you as you ran to a corner of the stadium where you could see some fans wearing the Netherlands shirt.
"That's what I was talking about!" Jill shouted in your ear as she kept hugging you.
Leah was watching out of the corner of her eye, chatting with Lucy, her jaw clenched thinking about how hard it would be to stop you.
Lucy was the one in charge of marking you, but now on every corner kick the person behind you was your girlfriend.
"Nice goal" she murmured close to your ear.
It was the first corner kick in favour of the Netherlands, so you were scared when you heard her voice, thinking that another girl would mark you.
You didn't say anything back, just pressed your elbow against her abdomen when you felt her too close.
"Too bad it was the last one." She muttered again, this time placing a hand on your waist and squeezing.
"Get the fuck off" you mumbled, starting to move from side to side to get her off.
"That's cute" was the last thing she said before the ball was kicked into the box, specifically looking for your head, but finding Leah's head first, who had no trouble clearing it out of the box.
"Shit" you muttered, glancing at Leah who was ignoring you again to focus on her team's counterattack.
"Focus on the game, YN" Vic said walking past you, giving you an encouraging pat on your back.
The first half ended with the Netherlands holding a one-goal lead. You had had a couple of chances at goal, but now in addition to having Lucy behind you, Leah was making a double effort to mark you in the same way, managing three times to get the ball away from you as cleanly as possible, as she always did.
During the half time talk no one mentioned the issue of Leah getting into your head, because from the look on your face everyone could tell that you were 100% focused on the game.
There were only 45 more minutes to go.
But to increase the lead you only needed 20.
"Hey, gorgeous" Leah's voice was in your ear again at another corner kick.
"God, shut the fuck up" you said pulling your body back, pushing her away. Leah, taking advantage of your action, raised her arms when she saw the referee signalling for you to stop the contact.
"You know what you do to me when you talk like that?" she whispered pressing her body against you once her teammates blocked the referee's view "It makes me want to make you- Hey!"
Before Leah could finish her words, your elbow had hit her abdomen hard.
"You two!" the referee came running up to where you were, giving words of warning to you and Leah.
"Come on love, let's be professional" Leah said once the referee left, her face was serious, but you knew her tone of voice showed how much she was enjoying the whole situation.
"Yeah, professionals" you muttered before you heard the referee's whistle.
The ball this time didn't go to your head, but to Daan's head instead, who's attempt unfortunately hit the crossbar, making the ball bounce back to your feet, Leah away from you because she had gone to clear Daan's first attempt.
It wasn't the best position to shoot, you didn't use your good foot either, but still the ball hit the net with the little push you gave it.
Now the Netherlands was 2 goals up on the scoreboard.
The whole team went up to you, celebrating between the rest of the English players who looked at each other blankly, including Leah, who was shaking her head with her hands resting on her waist.
It was all up to you to score a third goal, there were still 15 minutes left, not counting extra time. In a counterattack you were left with only Earps in front of you, but Lucy didn't hesitate to put her foot between your legs making you fall.
The foul had been called and Lucy had got a yellow card, because although she had made you fall it was not a red card action. But after a minute you were still on the ground.
You had fallen badly, with your wrist taking all your weight, plus apparently you had hit your head, or so said Vic who was the first to get to your side to keep you on the ground.
"The stretcher is coming" she said brushing some of the dirt and grass off your face.
"Babe? What hurts?" for the first time in the whole match you heard the tone of voice that Leah was used to using with you, a tone full of softness. One of her hands was placed on your abdomen, and she used her other hand to help Vic wipe your face.
"It's my hand," was all you said, opening your eyes to see that she was kneeling next to you. You weren't sure, but it felt like Leah let out a sigh when she heard that the problem was your hand and not your leg.
"You'll go to the bench." Leah murmured, watching one of your teammates take off her jacket to enter the field.
"Oh, you'll be happy now, Leah?" Vic teased her with a smirk.
"Shut up, Pelova" she said denying, but smiled anyway "Good, here comes the medical staff. I hope it's nothing serious" she said giving you a squeeze on the shoulder before getting up and returning to her position.
When you sat on the bench you were not unhappy with your performance, you had scored the two goals that led your team to a momentary win, but within minutes of you being substituted Leah's iconic phrase was ringing in your ears.
"The English are never done."
It only took your girlfriend and her team the remaining fifteen minutes and 3 minutes of extra time to turn the game around and take the 3 points.
"I can't believe it" was what you muttered as the final whistle blew, covering your face with your jacket, tears on the verge of flowing.
One of your teammates placed her hand on your thigh to reassure you, you didn't know who it was because you didn't remove your jacket from your face until several minutes later.
"Come on, YN" Viv grabbed your arm, forcing you to stand up.
You walked hugging her all the way to the centre of the pitch, where Beth and the other Arsenal girls were.
"Damn YN, I didn't know you had those goals in you" was the first thing Beth said, giving you a hug "You did well, don't worry" she murmured in your ear, knowing -thanks to Viv- how much you were worried about this match.
"You were a real nightmare," said Alessia, who then gestured to you to exchange shirts. "I hope I never see you doing what you did today again" she said with a laugh, referring to the next league match.
"I can't promise anything" you said shyly, still a little upset about losing. You were about to add something else, but in the distance you heard Leah's voice approaching. "Uh, I'll go inside, I think my arm still hurts, so I'll see if they can give me something for the pain."
Viv noticed the lie, but didn't say anything, just gave your healthy arm a squeeze. As soon as you started walking away from the group Leah did too, but Viv was quicker and managed to grab her arm to integrate her into the conversation and stop her from going after you.
"Great game today," Viv said, forcing her to focus on the conversation.
"Yeah, but you guys did well too. I think it was just a bit of luck that goal in extra time."
"That was a masterpiece!" Alessia defended herself, as she had been the one to convert that goal. "But of course, no goal will be that great for you unless it's from YN" she teased Leah, waggling her eyebrows suggestively.
"It's the truth, what YN touches turns into a masterpiece" Leah said, puffing out her chest proudly "I love watching her play, but I'd rather do it from the stands and not a few feet behind her."
"Look at you, flattering your rival, never seen that before from you" this time it was Beth who teased her.
"Since she's been with YN she has become a softie" said Viv, pinching Leah's cheek "Oh, why that grumpy face Williamson?"
"You're all idiots" she said smacking Viv's hand "So what if I've become a softie because of YN? I don't care if you laugh at me."
"We know why you have that grumpy face, Williamson" Jill said appearing behind her, jumping almost on Leah's shoulders "It's because your plan to get into YN's head didn't work out!"
"What do you say?"
"I think you achieved quite the opposite with YN, your words instead of distracting her made her try twice as hard, so thank you for that. Shame we didn't manage to keep the lead but that's the way it goes sometimes."
"Damn" Leah folded her arms "You're saying if I hadn't picked on YN she wouldn't have scored those goals?"
"I mean, she would have anyway, but I think you gave her a little push, so thanks."
At the end of the conversation all the girls laughed at Leah, who had planned all morning to get into your head, but in the end her plan didn't work out.
No one mentioned anything else about the game, let alone Leah. And the truth is, you didn't think about her either, well, that was until after you showered at the hotel, you found a bouquet of flowers on your bed and Jill and Leah chatting on the side.
"No funny business, you hear me?" Jill said to Leah before walking out of the room and leaving you two alone.
The atmosphere was awkward, but Leah didn't care.
"Uh, I brought you flowers" she hurriedly said and took the bouquet, walking over to you and handing it to you, smiling as she saw you accept them "You were amazing today... you were a real nightmare for Lucy and me."
"Don't exaggerate, it wasn't that big of a deal" you said smiling as you saw the card with a dedication in the middle of the flowers "I was the player of the match you think?"
"Yes, I can't deny it" Leah took the flowers from your hands to put it back on the bed "I did what I did because I knew it would be physically impossible to hold you back" she said taking your face, caressing your cheek. "It was a lot easier when you were subbed off, but Lucy got a couple of words from me afterwards."
"You're an idiot for that stupidity to be whispering in my ear the whole game, how old are you? 10?" you said resting your head on her chest.
"What did you expect? You scored a brace, I had to stop you somehow." Leah defended herself.
"Whatever you say... So, we're good then?"
"Yeah, I told you. It's just a game and things happen. I thought you wouldn't want to see me for how much I pissed you off today" she said laughing taking the opportunity to caress your back. "How's your hand?"
"Fine, nothing serious but I need to rest it for a couple of days."
"Good" she said and then started walking to your bed without letting you go, sitting down and making you sit on her lap. "Now... about what I said during that corner kick before your goal..." she said putting her hands on your thighs.
"Hmm..." you settled on top of her, not taking your eyes off her lips "I think that's the first time it's ever bothered me to feel you against my back if I'm being honest."
Leah couldn't hold back her laughter, taking the moment to slip her hands under your shirt "I wanted to do this every time I was behind you" she said before she started kissing you.
You guys stayed like that for a couple of minutes, with Leah murmuring how much she loved you every time she stopped kissing you to catch her breath.
"I've been worried about this match all week" you confessed as you stopped the kissing knowing you couldn't do much more than that.
"Yeah, I know. I think I got text messages every day from your team cursing me out. But I didn't want it to be like that, I like you to give your all always, even if it means being against me."
"It was just a difficult situation, your first game as a starter, qualification, Wembley...."
"I didn't want you to worry about me" she said tucking a few strands of hair behind your ear. "But I want you to know that despite the defeat, I'm proud of what you did today, and I feel like the luckiest person knowing who my girlfriend is and what she's capable of."
"You're such a sweet talker" you laughed but kissed her anyway.
"I know"
Leah patted your thigh to get you off her lap, standing up immediately after that.
"Well I gotta go, see you in a couple of days love."
"Good luck in your next match." You said giving her a last kiss on her lips.
"May the best team qualify, babe."
"Right. Go before you start your little mind games with me" you said pushing her out of the room.
"I love you!"

Tumblr media
Training today just felt harder than usual, yes you had off days, but something was different, it wasn’t just that you weren’t playing as well, you were hotter, you were running out of breath quicker than usual, you head hurt slightly. Everyone around you noticed but didn’t want to say anything, your teenage hormones were at their peak currently, as Leah put it and you were quick to snap at anyone for no real reason. You stayed quite about it though and just tried to push through, that was until you felt like you were going to pass out and you decided you should probably sit down. So, you went up to Jonas.
“Y/N, how can I help you?”
“Umm, I’m just feeling a little hot, was just wondering if I could sit down for a bit,” “yeah sure why don’t you go inside to the dining room and sit down there, it will be cooler in there than out here, lunch is only 25 or so away anyway,” “Thanks Jonas,” you said, and you turned around, probably a little too fast as everything spun, you stumbled a little and shut your eyes, hoping that no one noticed you continued to make your way into the dining room and sat on one of the chairs, everything was still slightly spinning but it wasn’t too bad. Just as you were about to rest your head on the table you heard footsteps which grew louder, until they stopped, and Katie was standing next to you.
“Hey,” you mumbled.
“Hey, Jonas sent me in here to check on you. You okay?”
“No, I feel like crap” you replied. It was the truth. In an effort to feel better, you shut your eyes and rested your head on the table, it was cool to touch, Katie put her hand on the back of your neck, and she winced at the heat that was radiating off you.
“I think you need to go see a medic.”
“No, I’m fine.” you snapped.
“Okay, well I’ll leave you to it then,” she stood up starting to walk out.
“Katie,” you softly cried out, she looked back at you “can you stay?”
“Only if you let me get a medic to look at you,” she tried compromising.
“Fine.” You sighed. Katie messaged someone on her phone and a few minutes later one of the medics came in. “38.7, not too bad, get her to take two of these and try and see if you can get her sister to take her home, if she is still here in about 45 minutes, we will come check on her again. Also get her to drink the rest of that and another one at least” The medic said to Katie pointing at your water bottle, Katie nodded. “Oh, and have one of these,” Katie screwed her face up at the sight of the emesis bag she really couldn’t handle that type of sick, “look she shouldn’t need it but it’s better to be safe than sorry.” Katie nodded agreeing with that statement. She got you to take two Panadol and to drink some water before you fell asleep. She did wake you every ten minutes to drink some more water however you didn’t really remember that.
“Hey, can you sit up for just a sec,” you look up to see the medic, she takes your temperature and checks your breathing. “39.1” the medic and Katie look at each other you place your head back on the table, and whimper slightly at the movement of your head, however the table felt nice on your head as it was cool.
“Where the fuck is Leah! Why isn’t she answering her phone,” Katie yelled becoming more furious with Leah by the second.
“Why don’t you just take her home?” Kim asked.
“Because Leah is a genius. Who doesn’t give their 16-year-old sister a key? and she refuses to let me take her to mine.” Katie replies
“You could call Sarina,” you decided to chime in.
“What’s her number though?” “Give it here,” you put Sarina’s number into Katies phone, Katie quickly pressed the call button and to her amusement Sarina picked up.
“Hi Sarina, its Katie McCabe, I am really sorry to be calling but we have Y/F/N here and she isn’t feeling well at all, and we have been trying to get a hold of Leah for 45 minutes but she won’t answer, and we understand she is doing important media duties however Y/N does have a temperature of 39.1C, and we think it would be best if she went home.” There was a pause, Sarina must’ve been talking “Okay, thank you so much, so sorry again. Bye”
“She’s coming,” everyone let out a sigh of relief, they hated seeing you so sick and helpless knowing that Leah was the one thing that might make you feel better.
“Leah?” you questioned, starting to cry.
“Yeah, she’s coming, like 10 minutes,” Katie said as she started to rub your back, you placed your head back on the table and continued to cry, you just felt so sick and wanted your sister.
“Hey, I’m here.” Leah said as she rounded the corner, her heart melting at the scene in front of her. You were still crying head on the table, Katie was still rubbing your back looking like she might cry at any moment, she just wanted to help, and she couldn’t.
“Oh, bug.” Leah cooed at the sight, and she continued towards you, you lifted you head up tears still falling. She kneeled down beside you and put her hand on your forehead, she winced and looked at Katie, “39.1 last we checked.”
“Bug, I’m so sorry I didn’t come sooner.” She said, ready to cry herself.
“Can we go home?” you whimpered, as she pulled you in for a hug, she noticed the slight dampness of your skin.
“Let me go talk to the medic first,” she said as she stood up.
“I’ll go get her stuff for you,” Lia said as she went to the locker room. The girls remaining all looked at each other, you couldn’t resist a smirk.
“Why do you have two bags Lia?” your sister questioned.
“Le, don’t do this, I’ve spoken to Jonas, and he agrees that you’re going to need help, come on I’ll drive you home.” She replied.
“Carry me?” you whined looking at your sister who sighed before picking you up and taking you home, the girls all made eyes at each other as the three of you walked out.
_______
“Le, I’m back” Lia said as she walked through the door. “We’re still in here.” Leah replied, she was sitting up against the head board of her bed, you had your head in her lap and your body laid parallel to the headboard, your training top was on the end of the bed and you were just in your crop top and training shorts, Leah had taken your shirt off in hopes of cooling you down, your sweaty body was making the sheets slightly damp, as she rain her fingers through your hair.
“Hey” Lia said softly as she walked into the room, carrying the bag of items she bought to help you. “What you got in there” Leah asked looking at the quite full bag.
“Just the essentials,” Lia pulled out some medicine first, then some hydrolyte, followed by a thermometer “I guessed you didn’t have one of these,” she pulled some more items out “Oh and I got some of these,” Leah’s brow furrowed at the sight of the emesis bags, “they might come in handy one day” Lia said as she shrugged.
“Thank you, Lia for everything not just for today” your sister replied.
“It’s no problem, how is she?”
“I don’t really know, she never gets sick it’s been years, I’m just really worried. Should we check her temperature again?” with of nod of Lia’s head they pulled the thermometer out of its packing and checked your temperature. “Shit,” Lia’s brow furrowed “39.5, what do we do Li, do we take her to the hospital, the doctor?” Leah said heartbroken a tear rolling down her check.
“She hasn’t had any medicine yet has she?” Lia questioned.
“I think they gave her some Panadol at the colony but other than that no”
“Okay well we’ll give her some ibuprofen, and help her take a lukewarm bath, and if her temperature hasn’t gone down or if it goes up after 30 minutes, we can take her to the hospital, how does that sound?” Leah just nodded agreeing with Lia, she just wanted to help you but in this moment she felt helpless. “You give her the medicine and I’ll start the bath”.
“Bug, can you wake up for me?” Leah said softly shaking you. You sat up, leaning against the headboard, resting you head on the wall.
“Here can you take this, it will help you feel better,” Leah said handing you two tablets and your water bottle, you took them and then went to lay back down on Leah, but she stopped you, as the bath was now ready.
“Bug we’re going to put you in the bath for a little while,” you groan at Leah’s words, she helps you up and places you in the bath still clothed. She let you sit there while she went to get the pair of you new clothes, nothing fancy of course, just some PJs. After your bath Leah helped you get changed before carrying you back to the bedroom.
“Oh, you didn’t have to Lia,” she said noticing Lia was just finishing off changing the sheets on the bed.
“Don’t worry about it, it’s all good, here have this” she said as she placed a pillow down for you and Leah. You laid between the two girls with your head resting on Leah’s arm, they rechecked your temperature and it was now back to 39.1, they weren’t super happy with it but happy enough not to take you to the hospital, you spent the next four days in bed sick, Leah and Lia both trying to help you get better.

Leah Williamson x Reader [SMUT! little bit.]
little PSA at the end! i don't know what this is it just...happened.
“She’s left me on read again, Gee.”
“Maybe she’s just busy, Leah. She’ll be okay.”
Leah nods, putting her phone away in her back pocket. She focuses back on her food, eating her lunch distractedly. It was way past your regular weekend lie-in; you hadn’t even given her a call the night before. You had been distant for days, ever since you didn’t get that England call-up you thought you were.
Being out from injury was the worst; you had recently been cleared to play full games. England call-up was your first chance at being back, but you didn’t see your name on the roster the week before. Leah’s name was there; she felt sad she couldn’t attend her first call-up since her injury with you.
Leah was distracted the whole day, missing passes and being sloppy. Sarina called her to the side, a stern look on her face.
“I’ve called you up here because I knew you were ready. I was wrong.”
“I’m sorry, Sarina, it’s just,” she sighs, rubbing her hand down her face. “Y/N has been off lately, and I’m worried about her.”
“Off how?”
“She hasn’t been responding to my texts. I haven’t heard from her the past two days; no more than 5 minutes.”
“You want to know why I didn’t put her name on the roster?”
Leah puts her guard up, ready to defend her girlfriend.
“Why?” she asks with slightly gritted teeth. Sarina replies unfazed.
“I knew she was more than football ready; her head isn’t.”
“What do you mean?” Leah growls, ears steaming as she tries to keep her cool.
“She was the best striker on the list for me to pick. But I had a suspicion that her head wasn’t quite ready for it yet. You’ve proven my point.”
“Are you saying–” Leah began angrily.
“What I’m saying is I didn’t want to make things worse for her. She needs some time to get her head on straight. Football isn’t the solution right now. You are. Go home to her, make sure she’s okay. I expect you at training tomorrow afternoon, Captain. Bring her along.”
Leah looks a little shocked, nodding softly at Sarina before sprinting out of the training center. She grabs her stuff haphazardly, shoving it all into her kitbag before running out to her car.
She races home, barging into the house noisily. She calls for you, the entire house engulfed in darkness. You had all the curtains pulled, the bathroom light letting in a sliver of light. She slowly trudged up the stairs, heart pounding in her chest as she called out for you again. She feared the worst, wiping her sweaty forehead.
She knew about your history of depression; she knew that stress often caused it to get pretty bad. With your recovery from injury and the prospect of an England call-up, paired with being you was often something that you both knew would be a rough time for you.
She slowly pushed the bedroom door open, letting out a sigh of relief when she saw your sleeping form on her side of the bed. It made her heart clench that you missed her but couldn’t bring yourself to admit it. She sat on the bed, you jolted awake when she did.
The moment you saw her you scrambled out of bed and into her arms. You sobbed painfully, Leah’s arms tight and warm around you. She sighed and pulled you closer, cradling the back of your head as her other hand rubbed your back.
“Oh Leah, I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t apologize, baby; you have nothing to be sorry for.”
“I didn’t want to be a burden, it was your first camp back from injury I didn’t want you to be distracted,” you mumble into her neck, she’s quick to shut you down.
“You are not a burden, baby. You are my priority. I will drop everything for you, my love. Everything.”
“You don’t have to, not for me,” she presses her finger to your lips, her eyes soften and she cups your face.
“I want to, only for you,” Leah tells you, standing up with you in her arms. She sets you down gently, cupping your face and kissing you deeply. You kiss back, hands gripping her wrists tight. She kisses you with so much emotion, lips saying more than words ever could.
You’re crying, hot tears flowing down your cheeks. She pulls away and wipes your tears, kissing your forehead softly.
Her hands slowly travel lower and lower, grasping the bottom of her hoodie you had on. She pecked your lips when you looked down at her hands, smiling softly.
“Can I?” she asks, voice barely above a whisper.
“Yes,” you reply, lifting your arms obediently for her.
She pulls the sweater off, gasping softly at your worn-out body. She can see the outline of your ribs a little, collarbones more prominent than when she last kissed them. She tears up herself, biting her cheek to keep herself composed.
“How long baby?”
You close your eyes and take a deep breath, wanting so badly to be honest with her. You take a while to answer, she doesn’t push you. Her hands softly caress your skin, tracing gently with affection.
“Since they let me on the first time.” That was 5 weeks ago. You were subbed on for the last 5 minutes of a game, adrenaline high for the first time in a while. When it came crashing down, so did the irrational thoughts. Your head became louder than your heart, and insecurities that had been festering inside you made their grand appearance.
You had done well to mask it, directing others into thinking that I was just the stress of being back as something that you needed to get used to again. Leah was kicking herself; she didn’t even see her girlfriend struggling until she had made it obvious.
“Why didn’t you tell me it was getting bad then?” she asked next, hands pulling your sweats down your legs gently. She kissed back up your thigh, standing in front of you with a look of concern.
“You were thriving Leah, I couldn’t ruin that for you.”
She kisses you again, this time her tears make the kiss salty. She pulls away and pulls you in for a hug, she begs for your forgiveness; the forgiveness you tell her she doesn’t need to ask for.
She kisses up your neck, gently moving you to the bed. You lay back down for her, watching her slowly take her clothes off. You sigh, scooting into the middle of the bed waiting for her.
She climbs in and immediately snuggles under the covers, pulling you close to her chest. Your ear settles right over her heart, listening to the strong pounding that eventually matches yours. Her naked form is warm, her legs tangled intimately with yours. Her hands caress your back and arms soothingly, lips pressing soft and tender kisses to your head and temple.
"I love you," she whispers, pressing a kiss to your hair.
"I love you too, Lee." you answer, kissing her jaw.
She begins to tell you all about camp, your hand softly rubbing her side and toned stomach. Her soft voice lulls you back to sleep, she sighs and keeps caressing every bit of skin she can get her hands on.
“I’ve got you, princess. Always have, always will.”
//
You both wake up the next day around 10, feeling the most refreshed and rejuvenated in a while. Leah immediately tilts your head up and demands kisses, you can only shake your head at her and lean up to give her a few pecks. She pouts, cheekily asking for more.
“Leah, my teeth aren’t brushed,” you reason, chin resting on her chest as you look up at her.
“So? Mine aren’t either. I want a kiss, then you may do whatever you’d like.”
“Just one.”
“Can’t guarantee but, yes. At least.”
You lean up and kiss her, sucking in her bottom lip before pulling away and sprinting into the bathroom. She wasn’t far behind, managing to get the door before you slammed it closed. She smiled, creeping up on you like a stalking dog. She traps you by the sinks, arms on either side of you.
“Kiss me,” she demands again, grabbing your arms.
You shake your head, sucking in your lips.
“Kiss. Me.” She orders, pressing her lips to yours. You melt when her calloused hands pull your waist closer, kissing her back softly. She grins into the kiss, hiking you up onto the counter. She’s kissing down your chest, when you notice the time.
“Leah, don’t you have training today?” you ask, slightly out of breath when she takes your breast into her mouth. She pulls away with a soft pop.
“Yes, you’re coming with. Bosses’ orders.”
“We can’t–” you start, as her lips trail lower and lower on your body, “we have to leave in a while!”
“I’ll be quick,” she gruffs, picking you up off the counter and pointing to the shower.
“Get in, save time,” she nudges you in, following you and turning on the water. Her hands are on you immediately, pressing your ass back into her front. You moan softly, having missed her familiar touches.
She grasped your breast from behind, the other hand cupping your heat as her fingers fondled your rapidly soaking folds. You gasped, arm reaching back to cradle her head that tucked itself into your neck. She sucked on your skin hard, fingers already sinking into your wet hole.
“Got to be quick baby, I can’t be late,” she teased, two fingers pumping furiously into your hole. You cried out for her, the steaming hot shower engulfing the both of you.
“Lee-Leah!”
“Missed me, did you doll?”
“Yes, fuck, yes!”
Her fingers nudge in a third, thumb rapidly rubbing on your clit.
“God, you’re so fucking wet for me hm?”
“Only for you, Leah!” Your orgasm was fast approaching, her fingers pressed up against your spot made your head spin. She continued.
“Yeah, you’re gonna cum for me aren’t ya? Gonna make a fuckin’ mess for me baby girl? Good thing we’re in the shower, it’ll wash away all the evidence of you being such a fucking whore for me…”
When she called you a whore, your entire body shook with your strong orgasm. She talked and petted you through it, cooing affectionately into your ear as her fingers slowly slid out of your pussy. She was quick to shove them into her mouth before the water cleaned them for her.
“Secret’s safe with me, doll,” she winks at you, grabbing your shampoo as you stand there more in love with the woman than you were before.

Guns blazing and lethal words part 2
Lucy bronze x reader
Lucy POV

Blurb: Lucy words hung in the balance of their relationship. Will YN forgive her or is it all to much.
Warning: Swearing, implied smut, hurt/comfort, angst, forgiveness. A/N: thanks for the support on part 1. This one was a bit more tricky but anywho enjoy. Thank you for all the love.
Lucy POV
I huffed as I punched the bag repeatedly, sweat rolling down my back. All I could do was picture her big blue eyes breaking at my words.
Grabbing my phone, I stared at the texts I had sent.
Lucy 📲 I'm sorry it was wrong of me to say. Love you. Please call me xx
Lucy 📲 It was heat of the moment and it was wrong, and I didn't mean a word, please call me x
Lucy 📲 you know I didn’t mean a word, right babe? You're One of the toughest people I know. Please talk to me.
Lucy 📲 I love you more than anything. Good luck tonight x
Buzzer went throwing my phone onto the pile of towels. Three days and she hasn’t spoken to me, Y/N ability to go radio silence was award winning. Millie eyes widen as she held the bag my fist pounding into it. When the buzzer went, I bite into the glove flicking them onto the ground angrily
"Heard anything?" Millie asked.
I shook my head no grabbing my phone 'come on YN answer' I begged calling her again.
Hi, you've reach Y/N sorry can't talk super busy, maybe. leave me a message.
Hated that voicemail especially more now than ever. Exhaling I hung up staring up at Millie. Millie had been overly as obsessed as I was. Her fear of tarnishing their friendship was strong.
"You know she would have taken your life?" I joked.
Millie bursted into laugher "oh I fucking know…all good when you're not on the receiving end".
"Levi screaming like a bitch….grab Y/N, Y/N stop" I mocked.
Millie laughed harder "to be fair she would have sent me…she may be a small little cutie, but she is mean when she wants to be".
"Yeah" I nodded "I fucked up Millie"
"Bronzy" shook my head wiping my eyes "should have seen her face she was more hurt over my words then the tackle…she was going to hit you-"
"She loves you" millie signed hugging me "she loves you just give her time"
"Coming from you how many times you call today?" I asked eyebrow raised.
"7" I scoffed "not about me it's about you" millie laughed.
Sound of a phone pinging caught my attention turning my phone around. My heart sinking, nothing.
"Shit" Millie huffed.
"What?" I asked.
"YN was at the hospital" she showed me Sammy text "I fucked her leg".
My fingers danced over the screen.
Lucy 📲 You're still mad at least tell me you're okay please?
Watched the writing read  sent, send, read. With waited breath I waited but nothing "she fucking going to be the death of me"
Y/N Y/L/N has posted on her story

Tumblr media

Y/N Y/L/N : Ruled out for 6 weeks. HIP HIP HOORAY. 🫠Lets go Tillies 'til its done' @matildas 🇦🇺🦘

Second, I seen it my heart fell, the game plan was to shut her and sam down at any chance, but the girls shut Y/N down a lot harder myself included.
"I don’t care if shes your team mate, your best friend or even your lover. When you put on that jersey YN YLN and Sam Kerr is the enemy, you give them an inch they will take a mile and YN will do it from over half way line with a smile on her face" Sarina paced yelling at the lionesses her eye zoned in on Lucy.
"Okay" Lucy laughed awkwardly "Shut her down".
The memory of Sarina face was serious, and she had a point, give YN an Inch and she will take a mile. She slipped through and gave perfect assist to Sam. Letting out a huff the weight of my guilt crept in.
Calling her phone, it hung up straight away her message loud and clear "call her" I hit Millie watching her call putting her on speaker.
"Hello"
"Hey, 6 weeks?" Millie asked.
"Two hair line fractures" I signed leaning against the wall my head leant in listening.
"I am so sorry."
"I know…. I gotta go".
"Good luck tonight we're all rooting for ya" Millie signed.
"Cheers"
"Wait-" I called out but was welcomed by the dial tone. Huffing I began typing away.
Lucy 📲 I know I did wrong, but I love you. I am so fucking Sorry Y/N. I fucked up. X
My heart broke watching the cameraman film Y/N as she sat on the edge of her seat watching her team fall apart. The aggression was there but I could see the tears pooling in her eyes. I knew how much she wanted this.
When final whistle went, I watched as she hobbled around on her crutches picking her team up talking into their ears.
"Oh, Chook got the interview" Georgia elbowed me.
"YN the loss hits hard how are the team?"
"Ah they're devastated but that’s soccer, sometimes you win sometimes you don’t” she sniffed wiping her eyes “We came into this competition with one mountain to climb at a time and one goal to achieve. We may have not gotten that hardware but there were a few other things we got".
"What are those things YN?"
"We got a nation behind us we got the whole of Australia zoned in for this moment. We asked and we received, and we heard" she sniffed rocking on her crutches "Nothing makes me prouder than playing on home soil putting on that gold and green and hearing a country cheer us on and it's huge… it's huge for football in general and more so for women football”.
"If you could tell us YN whats the one reason you played"
"Deep question” I smiled at her ability to joke in an awkward situation “Ah I play because I love the game but when I put on my international jersey or my club jersey it's for every girl that was told they couldn’t play on the main field. For every girl who trained in the dark because the lights were cut off. For every girl who was told they wouldn’t make it," she nodded "I've played with the best, trained with the best and you know this if for that little girl at home that parents said she couldn’t make it, the teacher that told her football a pipe dream. If you want it go out and get and that’s what I play for…oh shit your crying so sorry"
Watched Y/N laugh awkwardly I couldn't help but admire her, watching the reporter wipe tears out of her eyes smiling up admiring my girl.
"Sorry, that hit home, sorry" she laughed wiping her eyes "Lucy Bronze?"
"Oh yeah whats the question?" She laughed smiling brightly her left dimple showing which made my heart sing.
"Your girlfriend plays tomorrow have you given her any pep talks" watched YN lower her head a little.
"Yeah, she does play tomorrow no pep talks yet having few sorrow drinks tonight might come up with a speech" she joked "No all honestly, what you say to Lucy Bronze? like she is LUCY BRONZE"
"See Lucy, she still loves you" Georgia bumped me.
"Yeah, the radio silence is foreplay" I signed.
"Will you be there supporting her?" I couldn’t help but sit back my lips pressing together as I waited for her answer. YN hardly broke a promise.
"Be there with bells and whistles" she smiled her kind smile.
"You took massive blows from England team, injury occurred from them” she pressed her lips together nodding “Millie hit your last nerve. Love loss or-?"
“Millie definitely hit my last nerve she is a massive pain in my you know what but no, no love loss she was doing her job and I totally understand the defence now"
“Now?” the reporter laughed.
“Oh, on the pitch I wanted her life but hoping Emma lets me be charge of her training little payback” she wiggled her eyebrows.
“Little burpee's”
“Yeah, maybe Hill sprints” she joked staring right at the camera "I think she's watching so if she is I’m coming for you Millie" she joked.
"Love you to you little psychopath" Millie screamed laughing at the tv.
"Lucy backed you away it looked like heated words exchanged".
"You didn’t get to bug me for these answer did ya" she joked and the reported laughed squeezing her arm. Jealousy spiked. Watched YN move out of the reporter hold easily leaning back on her crutches.
"Ah yeah nar, just who going to walk the dogs and cook dinner" she joked pulling a face “She whispered some shopping list item in my ear” YN winked.
“Oh right” the reporter laughed not believing her. "Anything you wish to say?"
"Don’t leave us now Australia we have more to accomplish, and we need all the support we can get" I smiled "thank you Australia and we love you"
Getting up I walked away from the girls pulling my phone out. Listening to the ringing tone caused mixed emotions I hated it but also broke me with every ring "Lucy?"
"YN"    "Look Lucy stop calling, stop texting okay"
"YN" My heart fell     "No Lucy you hurt me you attacked me at a personal level. I don't care about the tackle or my injury or that your team wanted my head but I care about what you said, how you view me as a person and player...Love of my life thinks I milk injures, I’m pathetic and big cry baby after I got beaten half to death out there to the point I was ruled out and you know I can take that i can take the hits the injuries but"    "YN babe I am so sorry"    "I know you're Lucy but right now I'm hurt, my team is hurt and im going to go sink piss and get drunk and I need you to not call me or text me because I don't want you to ever feel the way you made me feel"    Tears slide down my face "YN"
"No Luce please I don't want to hate you why I haven't answered your calls or texts, why I have deleted everything I have wanted to write because I don't want to be that person"    "I understand"    "Fuck Lucy see now I feel like the bad person, Fuck look I love you, will talk tomorrow, be the one hungover eating a pie in England Jersey with your name on it"    I sniffed "You still coming"    "I promised didn't I?"    "Yeah, I-"    "I know you're sorry but sorry doesn't fix everything if it did, I'd have a relationship with my mother" The comment about her mother hit hard "I love you, get some sleep eat well and I'll be there but right now I need you to stop."
"Love you YN YLN"    "Love you too Lucy Bronze" Yn hung up and I couldn't help but cry as I walked back to my room. Changing quickly, I slide into bed as slow tears rolled down my cheek silently.
…    Going into the change room I stared at the picture of Y/N eating ice cream dog leads wrapped around her, a massive smile on her face. Sleep didn't find me and when it did, I woke up hating the world my eyes hurt.
"You good Bronzy?"
Giving thumbs up put the phone in my bag and got ready for the game. Walking out to a packed stadium I couldn't help but soak it in. I know I fucked up but right now this was my moment.
The game was rough signing my head dropped "YOU BETTER LIFT THAT HEAD UP" looking up "YEAH YOU HEARD ME BABY STILL TIME"
Finding her wasn’t hard she sat next to my brother her face painted wearing my jersey. I wanted to run over to her and kiss her and hold her, tell her I was so sorry 'You got this' she mouthed.
Exhaling I focused on the game. YN leading the section with cheers. When the whistle went my legs collapsed underneath me tears soaking my cheeks. After we collected our medals and got changed, I was greeted by my family, but my eyes searched for my 5'4 brunette blue-eyed girl.
"She left" Mum spoke reading my mind.
Tears swelled in my eyes as I shook my head, Mother arms wrapping around me and pulling me to her side "it's okay".
"It's over I can feel it she hates me, Mum."
"Lucia"
Sniffing I shook my head wiping my eyes "see you tomorrow" I huffed walking away ignoring my family as I headed to the bus.
Taking a seat, I stared out the window, when the bus moved, I looked down at my phone looking at the person who has made me the happiest person in the world last few years and now she was gone.
Pulling up to the hotel I quickly went up hearing the call we were having drinks. Unlocking the door, I threw my bag angrily "Lucia Roberta Tough Bronze" froze hearing her voice "We don’t own this place can't be trying to put holes in the wall."
"YN?"
"Hi"
"Hi, can I?"
YN put her hand up grabbing her crutches as she hobbled over to the seat gesturing for me to take seat on the bed. My heart was in my throat.
I stared at her my eyes finding hers, Watched her exhale loudly "You hurt me" I opened my mouth but her hand came out "you attacked me at a personal level. The legs is the leg but you went straight for the jugular" she sniffed and my heart sunk into my stomach "I could listen to anyone say what you said but hearing it from you Lucy"
"I'm so-"
"You actually broke me, Lucy. Made me doubt myself as a player…made me out to be this bad person when your whole team were gunning for me".
Lowering my head, I felt the tears slip from my cheek "Lucy".
"You're breaking up with me. So, fucking sorry YN I swear I didn’t mean a word-"
"Lucia?" Her hand gripped mine her voice soft as she squeezed it "I love you"
"But" sniffing I looked up.
"But you're doing the dishes for a month" my eyes widen "going to take more than a few words to push me away".
"Im forgiven?"
"Kinda…Sorry for giving you complete radio silence it was a little unfair of me, but I was hurt and scared that if I sent what I thought there be no us" her head went down "That my anger would destroy us."
Gripping her cheek I fell to my knees lifting her head up my thumb wiping the tear that fell "I hurt you and I'm sorry. I meant none of it I promises you that…Im so sorry YN so so sorry"
Watched YN press her lips together "Im sorry".
Shaking my head "you have nothing to be sorry for I deserved it"
"Yeah you did" she joked. Slow smile etching her face "Now how about we join the team and drown your sorrows?"
"After I apologise" she frowned at me "we are talking 3 or 5?"
YN laughed catching on "6 is my favourite number".
"Wish is my command" I smiled pulling her up from the chair pushing her backwards on the bed her laughter filling the room as she bounced.
"I am milking an injury here Lucy"
I groaned collapsing on-top of her holding my weight a little "not going to let me live it down are you?" I huffed burying my head into her neck.
Shaking her head "Nope" she popped the p "Thinking might be my dying last words 'girl who a pathetic, cry baby. who milks her injuries"
"Im sorry"
"Good because that’s not nice"
"6 right?" I asked looking at her. Watched slow smile grace her face as my head slide down her body "I might give you 7 for good measure"
…..
"Holy shit Lucy" YN moaned wrapping the blanket around her, hair a mess around her, her breathing ragged "fuck."
"We could-"
"Leave her alone" Yn cut me off "she forgave you at 4".
Smirked wickedly "I got one more in me if-"
The blanket was thrown back watched my injured girl stumble about "Leave me alone going to shower alone" Getting up "Ah stay" she pointed her finger at me.
"Look at you, you're injured let me help".
Squinting at me "no funny business"
"No promis-"
"Lucy" YN whined.
"Okay okay I'll be good come on your covered in sweat."
"I hate you."
"No, you don’t" I laughed "love you Chook and I'm so sorry"
"Yeah, yeah wash my hair" she turned pouting.
"Wash you wherever you need" I winked.
"Sure, might be acting-"
"Stop" I huffed wrapping my arms around her.
YN smirked, "come on Lucia".
"Stop it"
"Mmm no" watched her naked body sway as she slipped into the bathroom my heart singing. Licking my lips, I followed behind her.
A/N: Hope you enjoy, Swearing was warned in this seemed to be a big thing in part 1.

the winner takes it all II a.russo x reader
Tumblr media
warning; sad world cup loss lessi hours ): got a buunch of blurb requests for various different angsty tings around the world cup loss so i have decided to just combine them all into one gut wrenching fic, so ur all welcome x
the winner takes it all II a.russo x reader 3.9K words
you were bouncing with excitement on the bus to sydney. you were in awe when you did the final stadium walk. you were fired up when the whistle blew to begin the match.
when spain scored you brushed it off, only using it to further fuel your drive to equalise. when that hadn't happened by half time, you felt the cold hand of worry start to wrap around your throat. when your girlfriend who in your opinion was one of your biggest assets toward equalizing was subbed off at the half, you tried to focus on the faith you had in your manager. your stomach dropped at the disappointed glint in alessia's eyes which she hid well behind an understanding smile, but not from you. when that was shortly followed by rach going off, you couldn't help but to let doubt creep in a little at sarina's choices.
your legs burned as you sprinted back and forth from one end of the pitch to the other, feet relentlessly pounding the perfectly manicured grass. desperate to cling onto anything, any chance of a goal.
when alex went down your heart lurched into your throat, aggression of the game growing as tackles became sloppier from both sides. still, you pushed forward with everything you had.
two minutes to go and you once more felt the cold hand of worry squeezing around your neck, tighter and tighter as each second passed where a goal wasn't landed. your lungs burned and muscles screamed for any sort of respite but still you refused to give in, in utter disbelief that this was how your tournament was going to end. you were absolutely gut wrenchingly crushed by the time that final whistle eventually blew. you collapsed to the floor, head buried in your hands and fingers blocking your ears, desperate to drown out the noise of the loss. blades of grass tickled at your nose as your chest heaved with silent sobs and you squeezed your eyes shut, willing the hot burning tears carving their way down your cheeks to just go away.
you felt hands on your back, slender fingers wrapping around your wrists and pulling you to sit up, lotte tugging you into her arms and whispering in your ear just how well you played as you buried your face in her shoulder, body wracked with the bitter salty tears you could no longer choke back.
after a brief pause from reality in her embrace you settled, pulling away and using your jersey to wipe your tears, the taller girl pressing a caring kiss to the side of your head before moving on to console the rest of the team.
if you thought the pain of the loss was bad, it was nothing compared to the punch in the stomach felt at seeing the look of sheer utter defeat slapped on your girlfriends face. you wasted no time moving toward her, ignoring the agonizing pain in your legs, hell you'd crawl to her if you had to. your eyes met just moments before you wrapped one another in a bone crushing hug, both mumbling to one another sweet affirmations of your performances and obvious condolences for one another's losses, you knew alessia's stung just that little bit more, overthinking if things could have been different had she been given the chance to contribute more.
not yet out to the general public and neither of you particularly wanting to be the face of tomorrow's papers you forced yourselves to pull away, but not before you reached up to gently wipe away a few stray tears from the blondes face with the pad of your thumb.
alessia so badly wanted to kiss you, to just wrap herself in your little bubble of love and comfort and just fade away from the bitter reality you were both co existing in, but just like you she knew now wasn't the time or the place.
you both wasted no time then moving to mary's side, the keeper crumpled in a ball on the ground with her head hung in her hands, choking back her own sobs. you murmuring how proud she should be as alessia rubbed her back, rachel and lucy tried to gently encourage her to stand up on her feet.
swallowing your pity the team gathered for one last lap of the pitch, clapping with forcefully broken smiles, eyes shining with pain and crushing disappointment but never missing the time to thank your supporters for being by you the whole time regardless. the rest of the ceremony flew past in the blink of an eye and before you could even blink you were all silently packing up your kit bags and filing out of the change room for the very last time.
the distance echos of celebration and whoops of joy from your opponents were not lost on your ears from the other end of the hall. neither was how heavy the second place medals felt hanging around your neck, tokens which should represent your pride in how far you'd progressed now only existing as reminders of what could have been.
you and alessia sat together on the bus back to the hotel, her head slumped on your shoulder, your hands intertwined as you ran your thumb soothingly over her knuckles. you'd seen a few tears slip from her eyes during the medal ceremony, stifled with a bite of her lip and more self control than anyone would ever know, but you knew the striker was making a point of holding back.
your pain eased a little when you arrived to the hotel and were all quickly whisked away to the function room by the staff, your friends and family greeting you with a symphony of cheers, hugs and chants of praise which rained down upon your tired and aching bones, and everything for a brief moment was okay.
your girlfriend wordlessly handed you a glass of wine, pressing a tender kiss to your forehead and slipping away to spend some time with her family as you did the same, seeking solace in the arms of your mother and siblings, relishing in the innocence and love from your four year old niece, your last name splayed across her back tugging on your heart strings as you spun her around the dance floor.
as it ticked into the early hours of the morning you all danced and drank and slipped into a sweet sense of false security that maybe, just maybe, this would have been the same celebration you'd had if you'd won.
it was nearing two in the morning when you felt alessia's hand on the small of your back, the taller girl hugging you tightly as her chin rested on your shoulder, quietly asking if you were coming back to the room with her as you nodded.
your family having dipped out around an hour ago to put your niece to bed you both made your rounds of goodbyes, laughing at her brothers as they twirled you both around in tight bear hugs, reveling in the sincere smiles it elicited from the two of you.
the process taking about a half hour you were both finally stood together in the elevator, heads buzzing lightly from the alcohol as you leaned into each other in a comfortable silence, eyes half lidded as exhaustion began to sink back in.
having showered after the game you both slipped out of your tracksuits and into much comfier clothes to sleep, wordlessly trading hoodies and inhaling the familiar comfort of one another's perfume before the taller girl settled between your legs with a brush in her hand.
you combed out the tangles in her long blonde hair, mumbling that she needed to stop putting it up into a bun whilst damp with a gentle kiss to the back of her neck, plaiting it softly before you squeezed her shoulders to let her know you were done.
using your knees as leverage she pushed herself up to her feet, making her way to her own side of the bed and flicking off the light as you shuffled back and sunk into the mattress, pulling up the blanket for alessia to sneak in beside you.
you both wasted no time intertwining your limbs, alessia's legs slotting inbetween your own as your arms snaked around her, the blondes nose tucking itself into your neck with a gentle exhale, one hand tangling itself into your hair as her nails scratched at your scalp, your own digits tracing absent minded shapes down her spine as your hand tucked up the back of her hoodie.
soft i love you's were the only words exchanged among a few lazy kisses, both of you far too tired and bodies screaming for sleep as you drifted off wrapped up in one anothers tender embrace.
~
a few hours later you stirred slightly and reached out for your girlfriend but your eyes slowly fluttered open when your hands only clasped onto cold sheets.
"less?" you called out groggily, rubbing tiredly at your face as you sat up and let your eyes adjust to the darkness of the hotel room.
glancing to the side you saw the alarm clock blink that it was 4:43am and you frowned, calling out again for your blonde lover but getting nothing in response. rolling out of bed you wiped the sleep from the corner of your eyes with the sleeves of your hoodie.
your girlfriend a good half a foot taller than you they hung well past your hands, her limbs longer than your own you often teased they'd grown too fast for her to catch up, the poor girl as clumsy as a baby deer on ice.
your worry grew as you checked the bathroom and she still wasn't there, though it was then that you noticed the slight crack in the balcony door, it left just ajar. you slid it open and poked your head out, your face falling as your eyes landed on the bundle of limbs and blonde hair rocking herself back and forth in the corner.
"oh baby." you exhaled softly as her head twisted up to look at you and you stepped properly outside, noting the tears pouring out of her blood shot eyes as she held out her arms expectantly. as you stepped closer the girls hands grabbed at your hoodie, fisting the material tightly and tugging you down to sit on top of her.
"oh lessi baby." you sighed out as her ocean blue orbs welled up with tears, your hands coming to rest either side of her face as she looked up at you, absolutely broken as she finally let out all of the emotions she'd been bottling up since that final whistle blew.
"it's okay love i'm right here, i'm right here." you repeated over and over as she buried her face in your chest, tears soaking the faded brown material of her favorite hoodie adorning your smaller frame, twisting the fabric tightly in her fists as if she was worried you'd disappear at a moments notice, her body shaking with sobs so intense it cause her shoulders to heave.
it took everything within you not to break down alongside her but you knew you needed to hold it together for the both of you right now, you'd played the full ninety minutes and needed to be grateful for that.
that opportunity was ripped away from the love of your life and right now that was all clearly coming crashing down on her as she mumbled that she should have ran faster, should have cleared more passes, made more crosses, shot more, done more.
you knew there wasn't much use in disagreeing with her but still you tried to soothe the sting of her plaguing insecurities with sweet nothings mumbled into her hair as you rubbed her back.
you weren't sure how long you sat there on her lap as she clung onto you, eventually her sobs and tears turning into slight hiccups and sniffles as the sun began to rise and you gently whispered that the two of you should try to get a few hours of sleep before you'd need to be up and leaving for the airport.
you felt her nod lightly and slid off of her, standing to your feet and offering her your hand which she accepted. "wait here baby." you lead her inside and urged her to sit on the edge of the bed, gently prying her hands off of you and bringing them to your mouth with a soft kiss.
the girl watched on as you slipped into the bathroom, grabbing what you needed and quickly returning to her side where once again she latched onto you. you pressed a caring kiss to her lips before showing her what you'd brought back with you and you smiled softly as her eyes welled up with tears again, overcome with love for how deeply you cared for her.
wiping away her tears with your sleeves you stood in between her legs, tenderly kissing her forehead as her eyes slid close and you began to do her skincare routine, you'd memorized each step with the upmost precision, having watched the older girl go through the motions almost every night since you'd started seeing one another.
finishing up you stole a kiss and mumbled against her lips for her to get back in bed as you ducked off to put everything back where you'd taken it from. when you returned she was curled up in the blankets, only the top of her head poking out as you re-locked the balcony door, drawing the shades and setting an alarm on your phone for in a few hours time.
slipping back into bed beside her you wrapped your arms tightly around your girlfriends torso, the blonde tossing around onto her other side so she could press her face tightly into your neck, fists again balling your top and tugging your body as close into her own as you could physically get.
you rubbed soothingly at her back and whispered sweet nothings into her ear until you felt her hold loosen a little and her breathing even out, finally drifting off into a restless sleep as you closed your eyes and eventually did the same.
~
the mood was tense as the team stood in sydney airport awaiting their flight to board, you'd all plastered fake smiles onto your faces and waved till your hands ached as you were cheered all the way to the gate.
but now you couldn't help but feel like a fish in a tank as onlookers gathered just outside the check in desk, oggling for a glance at the squad who almost won the whole world cup.
but it wasn't the fans who were causing the main issues, it was the media.
it was the middle aged men in chinos, volleys and dark graphic t-shirts asking ridiculous questions to try and illicit a reaction, hurrying from player to player reeking of desperation as they angled for any sort of click bait title for a trashy article they could scrounge up, like vultures picking at a roadkill carcus.
thankfully with media training on lock and a few members of security shouldering them out of the way you all made it to the gate mostly unscathed.
you were stood in a small huddle with alessia, ella, lotte, lucy and jordan, making polite small talk about your plans for the brief break before the wsl season was due to start, preseason having already commenced for your respective teams.
you watched on carefully as ella stepped away as soon as the topic shifted to the oncoming club season, a soft frown creasing your features as you shared a look with mary who walked off after her.
both of you were aware of how the transfer was affecting her,  it likely suddenly feeling very real now that you were all out of the bubble of denial that was camp in australia, all now needing to scatter to different places throughout the world.
"you alright baby?" you quietly asked alessia who was sat down on her suitcase, resting her chin on the handle. "m'fine." the blonde mumbled back and you nodded, not pushing her for anything further knowing she was exhausted and still quite upset, the two of you having another tear filled cuddle this morning once your alarm had gone off.
"he's still watching us." alessia grumbled as she glanced off to the side, yourself and lotte looking over your shoulders to see the same man from the daily mail who'd been following you since you stepped foot in the airport loitering around with his camera in hand.
"they're so relentless its vile." lotte muttered as you hummed in agreement. "less do you-" you started to ask if she wanted anything to drink but your words fell short seeing the blonde had her face buried in her hands, trying to wipe away the tears which threatened to spill over.
"oh love." you sighed, placing a hand on her shoulder and squeezing gently as she peered out of her hands with a broken look. "oh for fuck sakes he's recording now, of course." alessia shoved your hand off and turned her head away, you swallowing the pang in your heart as she did and instead turning around to shoot a filthy glare towards the paparazzi who paled at the murderous look on your normally calm and soft features.
"ignore him, he's a prick." you sighed, moving your body so that your back blocked her from being filmed any further, lotte squeezing in beside you to give the blonde as much privacy as possible as she quietly excused herself to use the bathroom, hurrying off still furiously wiping at her eyes with her sleeves.
"hey, you okay?" lotte bumped her shoulder into yours with a small smile, the two of you hadn't grown up together as her and alessia had, but having played for arsenal together for several years now you looked to the brunette as a sister of sorts and the two of you cared quite deeply for one another.
it was all the more reason alessia and yourself had fallen so head over heels, lotte in both of your ears about how sweet of a couple you'd make, unknown to the both of you having been gunning to get you two together for many many months before it finally happened.
"no, you?" you smiled honestly, lotte chuckling and giving you the same answer back. "soon enough we'll be back home and your biggest worry will be avoiding the balls kicked at your head by katie and jen when you run your mouth onruststoker." lotte grinned, your eyes rolling at her nickname for you which you'd eventually harassed viv into translating the dutch for you since lotte refused to give you the satisfaction, it meaning troublemaker.
"do you and less have plans to go away at all before preseason? or should i say before i have to deal with the two of you being atattched at the hip every single day." lotte asked as you noticed your girlfriend return from the toilet, making her way over to her best friend who was sat hunched over with mary, alessia sitting on her other side and slinging an arm over ellas shoulder clearly leaning in to talk to her.
"don't be silly, i'll always make time for my work wife." you winked and nudged her as she playfully rolled her eyes. "and now we can go on double dates instead of me having to third wheel you and tao or being dragged along on your disgustingly cute bike rides." you were now the one to roll your eyes.
"but no not really, we're just spending a few days with our families." you answered her, not having the chance to take the conversation further as your flight was called and it was as if the team breathed a collective sigh of relief as they all began to board, filing down the tunnel toward the private plane which was to be the first flight of three.
~
you slipped your headphones on over your ears as they dimmed the lights in the cabin, you'd all been flying for a few hours now and as part of the jetlag plan set in by the staff you knew you all now needed to readjust back out of the australian time zone so despite it being midday it was important you all did your best to sleep.
well, most of you.
the plane had all but split into two, those who wanted to chat seated up front together in pairs while the rest of you who wanted to sleep took up the back. you were seat buddies with mary, the two of you having flown together on the way as well both appreciating the long flight as a chance to catch up on a lack of sleep from the excitement of a pre cup camp.
your girlfriend was again seated with ella and you'd left her to it, knowing there were conversations the two of them would need to have during the last of their time together before for the first time in several years they'd not be returning together to manchester together.
but that exact fact is why you jumped in surprise as a soft hand landed on your knee and you opened your eyes to see the taller blonde squatted down beside you. "you alright?" you asked tiredly, having been asleep the last few hours and with a quick glance around it seemed almost all of the girls still were, you weren't brave enough to check the time, knowing you still had a long way to fly.
"i can't sleep, i need you." was all that she muttered in a small voice before motioning for you to scoot over, slotting her body in beside yours, the two of you wriggling around until you found a somewhat comfortable position squished into the single seat together.
"i love you." you whispered quietly, pressing a few sweet kisses to her lips as she echoed those 3 words back to you before encouraging her to try and sleep as she tucked her head into your neck, your nails scratching softly at her scalp where her hair was scraped back into a messy bun.
"oi what are you-" mary slid down her eye mask and glared toward you, ready to tell you off for the noise of your shuffling around but her eyes softened seeing the two of you curled up together, sending you a smile and a nod before tucking her airpods back in.
"thank you amore mio." you felt the striker mumble into your collarbone as she kissed gently at your exposed skin. "for what?" you whispered back, digits still messing with her hair as hers had snuck up your jumper, tracing circles on your ribs.
"just being here, being you. you're just...my person, and i love you for it." alessia shrugged lightly and you swooned, a slight rosy pink blush covering your cheeks, alessia glancing up and noticing with a smile, placing a tender kiss to your jaw.
"my best girl." she whispered lovingly, squeezing you a little tighter as mary grumbled a gentle warning for the chatter and you both shared a much lighter smile, your presence allowing alessia to finally let down her walls as she pressed her face into your shoulder and closed her eyes, both of you lulling the other off to sleep with the comfort of one anothers ever present love.
you might not have won the world cup, but you still had one another and were about to embark on a whole new journey together, and though the pain of that bitter loss would hang around for awhile, so long as alessia had you by her side she knew each day it would get a little easier.

hi, do you write for Niamh Charles? if so, maybe one where reader makes her debut for England and scores the winning goal but then ends up injured pretty badly in the game and Niamh realizes her feelings for her?
Tumblr media
Yes, I do write for Niamh! I love Niamh, except for the fact she plays for Chelsea, but anyways, here is I really really like you.
I really really like you | Niamh Charles
Warning slight injury, and just Niamh being protective.
Over the past two weeks, the only thing you could think about was England camp.
You had received your first England call up from Sarina for the matches against The Netherlands and Scotland.
You knew it was bound to come at some point. You had been playing exceptionally well for Manchester City and England’s U23.
At just age 22, you were Manchester City’s first choice as CAM.
You were excited to be playing with the seniors, the feeling of being at a sold out Wembley, but also to see a certain defender.
Niamh Charles.
You had barely spoken to Niamh. You shared a few sentences, if you could even call it that, when playing against Chelsea.
You weren’t going to deny it, you couldn’t deny it because it was so obvious, you had a huge crush on Niamh.
From the way her hair falls when she takes it out in matches, to the way how her hand feels in yours when you shake hands.
You didn’t know why you liked Niamh, I mean, she’d never like you back. Would she?
————————
You travelled down to St George’s Park with the city girls.
It was a relatively easy drive down. There was no traffic, but as soon as you got there, you wish there had of been.
Your heart was racing.
Thoughts went rushing through your mind. What if you didn’t play good? What if Sarina made a mistake inviting you into the squad? What if you embarrass yourself in front of Niamh?
“Y/N, you coming?” Esme asked you as she started to walk inside, quickly stopping to look back at you.
“Yeah.” You replied, hesitancy in your voice.
“Y/N/N, you’ll do fine. I know it’s a big change and thoughts are running through your mind right now. But you belong here.” Esme told you, quickly hugging you before walking inside.
You followed her in, dragging your suitcase behind you.
You enter the lobby first, finding out who your roommate was.
You were roommates with her.
You grabbed your keycard, making your way up to the second floor, before lightly tapping it on your door.
It granted you access, and you walked inside hesitantly.
“Hi, it’s Y/N, isn’t it? I’m Niamh.” Niamh welcomed you into the room. You couldn’t help but notice how voice stuttered a few times when she spoke.
“Yeah, I’m Y/N, it’s nice to properly meet you. I feel like we’re always in such a rush after matches that I’ve never really met you.” You joked and Niamh agreed with a small laugh.
It was already late by the time you had gotten there so you were already tired and ready to get to sleep.
“Everyone’s going down to the relaxation room just now if you want to come.” Niamh asked, playing with the hairs on the back of her neck.
“I would but it’s been a long journey down here and I’m tired so I might just head to bed.” You explained, also stuttering some of your words due to being so nervous.
“Are you sure?” She questioned, just double checking, and you replied with a smile and a nod. “Okay, well, sleep well.”
With that, she left the room, the door clicking shut.
The only thing that replayed on your mind was the conversation, the way how your voice stuttered as you spoke to her.
She had to know that you liked her now, with the stuttering, the sweat that was starting to build up on your forehead.
After sitting in a silence whilst you thought back of your previous conversation, a small beeping in noice was heard from the door and it opened.
Niamh walked inside and you gave her a confused look.
“I couldn’t leave you here alone. Not when it’s your first night.” Niamh explained and you shook your head at her explanation, guilt washing all over your body.
“Niamh, no, seriously I’m fine. You go downstairs if you want to.” You told her
“Everyone down there’s boring. And anyway, we’ll be stuck with them for the next week so one night not seeing them will do me good.” She justified and settled herself on her bed. “I thought we could find a film to watch.”
And that’s exactly what you did. You both agreed on a movie and spoke the entire night.
The tiredness you felt completely went away as you spoke to Niamh.
You spoke, you laughed, you told stories.
It was safe to say that you didn’t just like Niamh anymore, you were utterly in love with her.
————————
The rest of the week sped by, with training taking up the mornings and then spending the afternoon with your new friends.
Over the week, You quickly befriended Alessia Russo and Ella Toone. The duo quickly becoming a trio.
You got along with them well and you spent most of your afternoons with them.
The week had sped by so quickly, that you were all currently on your way to Wembley.
On the way, Sarina announced the lineup.
Sarina didn’t read out your name but assured you that would definitely be subbed on later on in the game.
Niamh, who was sat next to you on the coach, cheered for you, and rested her head on your shoulder.
“I’m so happy for you. Your first England debut.” Niamh said, looking up at you.
“Thanks, Niamhy.”
————————
The team had down amazing to come back.
At half time, they were down 2-0, but with two goals in two minutes, they were now equal with the Netherlands.
In the 68’, Sarina told you and Alessia to take off your bibs.
You stood with her as she told you tactics she had picked up.
Whilst waiting for the ball to go out of play, Alessia stood next to you.
It was so cold that you were basically cuddled up to one another.
She congratulated you on my debut, patting you on my back as the announcement was made.
It was announced you’d be subbed off for Georgia.
She ran off the pitch high fiving you, before you ran on.
The game continued and there was still no goals come the 90’.
You had been playing incredibly, proving to everyone why Sarina had called you up.
In the first minute of injury time, Lauren James crossed the ball into the box and you were in a perfect position to run onto it.
Without taking a touch, you nutmegged the Dutch keeper and the ball ended up being in the back of the net.
Your teammates surrounded you, enveloping you in a hug.
Once everyone pulled away, Niamh pulled you in again.
“I’m so proud of you, Y/N/N.” She whispered in your ear.
“Thank you, Niamhy.” You said, using the nickname you’d given her.
You noticed her cheeks flush a light red and with the confidence you felt, you pressed your lips onto the red pig before running back to your position.
Two minutes later, you had another chance in the penalty box.
Lucy played a long ball into the box and you jumped to header it.
The next thing you knew, something connected with your head but it wasn’t the ball.
The Dutch keeper had jumped up to punch the ball away but instead, had punched you.
You fell to the floor limply as blood made it way from your nose.
You groaned in pain and your hand went flying to your nose and you head.
Alessia was the first one to you, crouching down and stroking your hair to comfort you.
Everything was blurry, you couldn’t think straight but all you could think of was Niamh.
All you wanted was Niamh.
Instead of going straight to you, Niamh marched over to the keeper, Daphne van Domselaar, and pushed her straight to the floor.
“Look what you’ve done to her! You fucking bitch!” Niamh shouted at Daphne.
You winced at the sudden shouting, the pain searing through your head.
“Niamh, I want Niamh.” You managed to get out to Alessia.
As the medics got to you, Alessia left to get Niamh for you.
Within seconds, Niamh was crouched down next to you.
She gently picked up your head, getting approval from the medics, and laid it in her lap.
You reached out for her hand, which she squeezed lightly.
“Y/N/N, you’re so brave. You’re going to be okay, I promise.” She said, tears running down her cheeks as she stroked your hair.
Your teammates gathered round, awing at you and Niamh.
They were certain that by tomorrow morning, you and Niamh would be a couple.
The medics put you onto the stretcher and lifted you upwards.
You watched as Niamh was taken aside by the ref and was given a red card.
Niamh accepted the red card. One, she thought Daphne deserved what she got, even if it wasn’t her fault, and two, she got to be with you whilst you were treated.
She ran to catch up with you and the medics, taking your hand in hers and walked towards the tunnel.
————————
“Why did you do it?” You asked Niamh once the medics had gone.
They had confirmed that you had a broken nose and a concussion.
“Do what?” Niamh asked back, giving you a sympathetic look as she looked at the stained blood on your face.
“Punch Van Domselaar. Get a red card. She didn’t do it on purpose.” You said and Niamh looked down at the floor. “Niamhy.”
“Please don’t call me that.” Niamh whispered, barely being able to hear herself, let alone you.
“Why?” Confusion took over your face, not knowing why she didn’t want you to call her that.
“Because it kills me to hear you say it when I know you don’t like me. It kills me thinking back to tonight when you were on the floor. It kills me to think about our late night conversation when I know that after camp, everything will go back to normal.” Niamh revealed and once more, tears fell from her eyes.
“Niamh, what makes you think I don’t like you back?” You asked, as her head jerked upwards, revealing her blue eyes, full of hope. “I’ve liked you since I played against you for the first time. The amount of times I’ve Instagram stalked you just so I can see your smile. It’s killed me knowing this past week that we’ve grown closer and closer but I’ll never be able to call you mine.”
“You like me back?”
“Of course I do Niamhy. Who wouldn’t? You are the most kindest, most beautiful, loving person I’ve ever met, with a hint of protectiveness…” you joked, referring to the events early tonight. “…Who wouldn’t like you back? Definitely not me. I really really like you, Niamh. I have done for a while.”
“I really really like you too.” She said, a huge smile appearing on her face as she inched closer to your face.
You could practically feel her breath on your lips as she stopped her movements.
You took the final step in connecting your lips.
It was so gentle, both of you too scared to move, trying not to overwhelm one another. And the fact you’ve got a broken nose.
“Y/N, will you be my girlfriend?”
“Of course, Niamhy.”

Whumptober 2023: 4 (ENGWNT)
No. 4: “I see the danger, It’s written there in your eyes.”
Cattle Prod | Shock | “You in there?”
“Y/N?” you hear someone ask through the door, “are you in there?”
You don’t respond, not wanting one of your teammates to see you in this position. Even worse, not wanting your capitan to see you curled up in a ball with tears streaming down your face.
“Sweetheart, I need to know that you’re okay,” Leah says again, “if you don’t answer me, I’m going to get the key. Just let me know that you’re safe.”
You take a few deep breaths, trying to prevent your voice from shaking,
“I’m fine. Go back to the game.”
You hear a thump on the door followed by a sliding sound. You knew that Leah was not sitting against the door.
“You’re more important than the game, please let me in.”
As much as you want to resist, you’re craving the comfort that you know she’ll give you. So, slowly, you scoot to the door, unlocking it. You don’t make any move to open the door, but you know Leah can hear the lock disengaging.
“Good girl,” Leah says, the relief palpable in her voice, “you’re doing so well. Can I come in now?”
In response, you turn the knob, allowing the door to fall open a crack. Leah pushes it open enough to squeeze into the room, shutting the door behind her. She looks at you, eyes raking over your red eyes and tear stained face. Without a word she reaches forward, pulling you into a bone-crushing hug.
“I’m so sorry- so, so sorry- that happened to you. It was disgusting and unsportsmanlike, and I already heard Sarina talking to their coach. We’re going to figure this all out, yeah?”
You nod slightly, unconvinced. Leah notices. She pulls you closer until you’re in her lap, wrapping an arm around your head and resting it on her chest. She rocks gently, smiling and giving you a small squeeze as you relax into her hold.
“We’ve got you, kiddo, always.”
“I know,” you say quietly but with full belief.
“Good, good- we are all so proud of you. What do you say we get out of here and back to the locker room? Lucy and Kiera are going to have an absolute fit if you’re not safely in their arms soon.”
You giggle at that, the sound a refreshing change from your previous tears. Leah squeezes you tightly one more time before pushing herself off the floor and standing up. She reaches a hand down for you. Taking a breath and preparing yourself, you grab her hand and trust her fully.

Truth (Leah Williamson x Reader)
Tumblr media
Being a lioness was a dream, being able to play for your country was a dream, playing for Arsenal was a dream but being in love with Leah Williamson was at the top of that list. She was easy to fall for, that's why just months after your shocking transfer from Manchester United to Arsenal, you decided to make the first move. Awkwardly asking Leah on a date after a hard training session definitely wasn’t what you had in mind but after seeing her sweet smile, you knew you made the right choice, you also knew you were going to protect this new found relationship with your life. You hadn’t meant to keep the relationship a secret, it just kind of happened after your first date, you and Leah both agreed to keep it between yourselves to see where it was going.  After a year of dating, still only your families knew, it’s not that you and Leah don’t want people knowing, you just both never got around to telling people assuming they already knew or figured it out.
You were currently travelling to camp, unfortunately separate to Leah and the other arsenal girls as you had gone to see your family the day before camp was meant to start. Rush-hour traffic was definitely starting to get on your nerves as you began nearing to camp stuck in masses of cars.
Arriving at camp about an hour later, everyone was crowding around in the lobby greeting each other and waiting for Sarina to come and announce the rooms for this camp. Sluggishly walking towards Leah, waving towards the girls as you walked past.
‘Look who's finally turned up!’ Beth teased, wrapping you in a tight embrace, ‘alright Meado, you saw me a day ago,’ you chuckled lightly pulling out of her embrace.
‘Hello, sweet girl.’ A familiar voice spoke behind you before pulling you into her, turning in her embrace you replied ‘Hi Lee, I’ve missed you.’ Leah’s arms around you tightened, ‘I missed you too.’
‘You missed her but not me, Y/N  you wounded me, I can’t believe this,’ Beth pouted behind us, turning quickly, ‘I’ll make it up to you, Beffy!’ you bargained while lightly tapping her cheek.
‘Hello girls,’ a dutch accent called out in front of us, all of you turning to look, ‘I hope you all had a safe trip over, I will be putting the list of roommates on the wall over here, keys are at the main desk, remember dinner's at 6 and we will be having team bonding tonight the games room, everyone go have some rest before coming down for dinner, I’ll see you later.’ Sarina stated while sticking the list of roommates on the wall next to the reception desk.
Slowly walking over to the list of roommates, you skimmed over the list looking for your name which was found next to Lucy Bronze, quickly searching for Leah’s name as well you find her next to her regular roommate Georgia Stanway.
Saying a quick goodbye to the arsenal girls, you find Lucy who already had the key waiting for you, ‘If it isn't Y/N Y/L/N.’ Lucy inquired with a devious look in her eye, ‘Well if it isn't Lucy Bronze, thought you would still be following keira around like a lost puppy,’ you replied with an equally devious look.
‘I see the way you look at skipper Y/L/N, I think we’re in the same boat,’ Lucy smirked, ‘oh shut up,’ you replied burning red.
‘Come on let’s get moving I want a nap before dinner’ the pair of you laugh before catching up on what’s been happening in your lives before reaching your room. Both of you flopping onto your respectable beds before passing out.
Waking up in time for dinner, you and Lucy walk down together quietly chatting before splitting up to go to your different tables, seeing a seat saved for you next to Leah, you pick up your pace plonking yourself down digging into some food. The table chatting quietly between yourselves about random things before deciding to start going to the games room for team bonding.
You tugged Leah’s arm signalling her to stay behind, ‘hello captain’ you quietly spoke before leaning up towards her, pressing her lips to yours, you stayed in a loving embrace before slowly pulling away once air was necessary. ‘I’ve been wanting to do that for days, it's been lonely without you!’ Leah exclaimed. ‘I know Lee, so have I, you have me all to yourself now.’ you replied joking towards the end. ‘Hmm I like the sound of that,’ Leah laughs, ‘come on, let's not leave them waiting.’
‘I have decided for all of us that we should play truth or dare, any questions? No? Let's get started.’ Rach Daly exclaims as you enter the room, pulling out a bottle from behind her back.
Once you were all sat in a circle, Rach spun the bottle which landed on Ella who decided to pick ‘dare’, which ended up with Ella attempting to hold a headstand and balance said bottle on her feet. A couple more rounds went by before Beth spun the bottle which landed on you.
‘So Y/N truth or dare.’
‘Truth.’
‘Who is the best person you have ever kissed?’ Beth smirked.
‘Oh definitely Leah.’
‘WHAT?’ basically the whole room exclaimed, with a couple of ‘I KNEW IT’ thrown in there.
You and Leah looked at each other confused.
‘What?’ you both repeat.
‘YOU TWO HAVE KISSED?’ Beth howled.
‘Well, yeah that’s what you do when you're dating someone.’ you say back extremely confused.
‘YOU’RE DATING?’
‘SINCE WHEN?’
‘LEAH YOU DIDN’T TELL ME.’
‘You mean you guys didn't know?’ Leah said, wearing the same confused expression as you.
‘I kind of just thought that you two were extremely close.’ Beth exclaimed.
‘Beth, we live together and you literally saw us kiss right in front of you.’ you replied.
‘Well how was I meant to know?’
(this was my first fic let me know what you think, thanks)

poke - alessia russo
Tumblr media
“Alright!” the strong voice of none other than the England captain shouted over the rest of the team. All of your eyes fall onto the blonde girl who was looking intently at a sheet of paper that was in her hands. “Sarina wants us to have a team bonding day so we can become closer as a team and-” she began announcing to the group only to be cut off by a strong accent shouting out jokingly“I THOUGHT WE WERE ALL BESTIES?!” Leah’s head immediately snaps toward no other than Ella Toone. All of you follow her as twenty sets of eyes begin to stare at the girl who had now placed her head in her hands and brought her legs up towards her chest obviously embarrassed now that everyone was looking at her. Her cheeks begin to turn red as she leans in closer to the body of her best friend, Alessia Russo. Who was now laughing loudly at her friends growing discomfort. She looks up to you caching your eyes for a brief second before sending you a teasing wink which you roll your eyes to with a laugh. “Ok.” Leah says with a monotone voice. “There will be different stations with games and you will be split into teams of four and at the end Sarina wants us to play a big game of never have i ever.” she says gripping the sheet tightly. “SO FUN GIRLS!” you yell out sarcastically putting your hands in the air to show just how excited you are. “Shut up y/n.” Leah says laughing at you as she continues “We have been put into teams and whatever team wins the most will get a prize.” “Oh what is it!?” Lucy asks her interest peaked at the offer of a prize. “I don’t know.” leah says blandly. “I’ll leave the sheet here and you can all figure out your teams during breakfast.” she finishes while placing the sheet on the coffee table and walking away to go have her breakfast. You all scramble off the couches you were sprawling across to get to the coffee table to see the sheet with the assigned teams on it. Once you got to team three you finally read your name.
TEAM THREE
Beth Mead
Y/n Y/l/n
Millie Bright
Georgia Stanway
Lotte Wubben-Moy
Lauren Hemp
“Winning team right here!” you hear the familiar voice of Millie yell out in joy. You just look at her laughing as she is boasting that her team is definitely the best. She comes up placing her arm around your shoulder pulling you over to the rest of the team she had rounded up. “Ok girls, game plan-” “WIN!” Stanway yells out a childlike look of mischief in her eyes. You scoff at her response while giggling and shaking your head at the young girl who you had grown to admire over the last few months of knowing her. “Exactly!” Millie says excitedly. You just laugh at the girls as you begin on your short walk over to your girlfriend. “Hey baby.” You say while grabbing her hand to drag her to breakfast. She quickly grasps your hand and catches up to your stride, her long legs making it easier for her. During breakfast you sat with lessi, Tooney, Stanway and Keira. The four of the girls constantly making jokes made it hard for you to be able to swallow every single bite of your breakfast.
Once you all had eaten enough for a small village you begin the walk back to the main hall that had been set up for the day of fun and games ahead of you. You start off playing twister against Leahs team and you win. You then continue on to play a massive game of x & o which once again you won, Millie was correct this was the winning team.
After a few more hours of playing the party games that were set up around the room and just catching up with everyone on the team it was time for sarinas favourite game: never have i ever. The woman loved to have the team play this game as whenever you did do something you had to drink water which would help keep us hydrated and she liked learning more about the girls she spend weeks at a time with.
The entire team gathered in a circle sitting on the floor. Georgia started off asking one. “Never have i ever slept with someone at camp.” Everyone bursts out laughing and only a few people take a drink of their water, you, alessia, jordan, leah, lucy, keira, georgia and lotte. Your eyes widen as you see lotte take a drink secretly. “LOTTE??!” you shout out as everyone turns to look at her, her cheeks turning red after being caught. All the girls start shouting questions at lotte. “Alright girls leave her be.” you hear leah shout over everyone, so they could move on from the question and continue the game. “Never have i ever gotten a stick and poke.” Lucy asks while looking around. Surprisingly, no one takes a drink except your love. You knew this about her, in fact you did the the little tattoo as a sign of your love for her.
Friday 7th March 2014
Art. Your favourite subject to just sit and talk to people in. It was the biggest doss subject as no one in your class actually cared about what they were doing. You were sitting with your girlfriend with your hands intertwined as you spoke about something in a hushed manner to prevent anyone else hearing.
Further into the class you began to get bored of the drawing of an eye your teacher was making you do. You reached for the black marker that was sitting before you, that you would have to use later on to sign your work with the date because according to your teacher in hundreds of years they could be found and sold for millions, and grabbed your girlfriends hand. You pulled her long jumper out of the way and drew a heart on her wrist. “What date is it?” you question looking up at the blonde. “seventh of march.” she mumbles out while pulling her jumper up her arm to get it out of your way. You tut quietly at her while sending her a wink. “Ill just write seven.” you say while gently writing the number seven just above the heart. She smiles at this as she brings her hand closer to herself to examine the drawing you placed on her skin. “I love it.” she says while tracing it. Her eyes meet yours and this was the moment she knew, you would be in her life forever. It didnt matter that you were fifteen right now and it was completely ridiculous to believe that two girls as young as yourselves could commit to eachother forever, but she knew. It didnt matter how many weird stares or weird comments from grown men or mean comments from other people your age the both of you got. It didnt matter that you would definitely be going to different colleges. It didnt matter that your parents would hate you if they found out you were with a girl. None of that mattered as long as she had you everything would work out, she would be alright as long as you were by her side.
She sat there staring at the little heart and the seven on her wrist. The seventh, the day she realised she was in love with you and wanted to be with you for the rest of her life. “You ok less?” you ask the girl who had gone quiet. “Im really good my love.” she says smiling at you grabbing your hand and running her fingers over each line on your palm.
Later that evening, as it was friday, you made your way over to her house to stay over. As the pair of you had known eachother long before you got together you were very close with eachothers families so you usually just walked into eachothers houses. “Hi!” you shout out into the quiet house while taking off your shoes. “Hello darling!” Alessias mother says while walking into the hall to pull you into a hug. She was like the mother you never had. She hugged you for a few seconds and theb ushered you further into the house while taking your bag from you and leaving it on the stairs. “Alessia is up having a shower, so you just sit with us and have some food.” You happily take your place at the dinner table and fall into an easy conversation with Luca. You hear your girl bound down the stairs at lightening speed while yelling your name and asking if you are here yet. She quickly comes into the kitchen and wraps you up in a tight hug when she sees you. “Hi baby.” she whispered into your ear before pulling away to fix herself a plate and then sitting opposite you. The pair of you playing a game of footsie under the table forgetting that it was in fact a clear glass table.
Once everyone finished their meals Giorgio was left to cleaning up after you all had ate. Her parents left the room leaving you, lessi, luca and giorgio in the kitchen. You were looking in the freezer for ice cream, that Alessia had promised you earlier that day. “I think you both forgot that we do have a glass clear table.” you hear luca say while looking at his sister pointedly. She flushes red with embarrassment realising that everyone at the table saw what the both of you were doing.
You emerge from the little room that included the firdge, freezer and washing machine that was connected to the kitchen. You have the cold ice cream in your hand and grab two spoons. “Im going upstairs. i cant deal with the abuse right now.” you say laughing slightly while leaving the kitchen, you hear alessia murmur a quick agreement and follow you out.
The both of you just sit in her bed speaking about your prospective days and watching a movie. She suddenly pulls you into her lap and takes a hold of your hands. “I know this is a little bit out of nowhere but, i love you more than anything in this world. I want to be with you for the rest of my life.” she whispers shyly looking down at your hands that she was messing with nervously. You grab a hold of her face and pull it up so she is looking at you. “Lessi i love you so much i don’t believe i could live my life without you. Your mine, forever.” You say as you press kisses across her face. “i love you.” she whispers to you. “I love you more than anything in this world lessi. What made you realise all of this baby?” “Today, in art when you drew the little heart and seven on my wrist.” Your reply to this was none other than a passionate kiss.
Your lips pressed against hers quickly. Her hands quickly found your waist and slipped under the jumper you were wearing tracing different shapes onto your warm skin. She dipped her hands under your tracksuit waistband which led to you letting out a gasp which she took as an opportunity to slip her tongue into your mouth. “Hey less, oh fuck sorry!” You hear Giorgio say before slamming the door. “Shit.” Lessi mumbles while getting out of her bed. “GIO!” she yelled out while chasing after her brother who was now in Lucas room, the two boys beginning to make fun of their younger sister after what Gio had caught his sister doing.
Later on that night you and Alessia were cuddling half watching whatever was on her television. “I want a tattoo.” she suddenly says out into the silence. You sit up so you are now straddling her. “Of what my love?” She lifts up her sleeve and points to her wrist. “Oh lessi.” you beam at her. “You will have to wait a little while until you can get it done.” you say smiling at her. “Stick and poke?” she questions you lightly praying you will say yes to it. “Do you really want it?” you ask the girl under you while tracing the heart you adorned her skin with earlier. “Yes i really do. i want to be reminded of you every single time i see it.” She says while placing her hands on your cheeks as yours rest on her stomach. “Ok, ill do the heart.” You say to the girl. She pulls you into a hug whispering different words of thanks into your ear.
The pair of you look around her house for a needle that you easily find and some ink that took a little while longer to find. You sat down with your girlfriend and began to do the small tattoo for her.
After about ten minutes overall, not counting the many times you would stop to make sure it didnt hurt and apologising with kisses incase it actually did, you were done. The small tattoo on her wrist was complete. You traced over it proud that the girl you love so much wanted this on her forever.
Present day
“Really less you have one?” Lucy questions the girl. “Yes. The heart.” she says proudly while looking at you. “Who did it?” Chloe asked now intrigued. “Y/n.” she answers quickly. All the girls heads shoot towards you in shock. “WHAT?” Rachel says shocked. “When? How stupid are the both of you? Why wouldn’t you just get it done properly?” she continues her questions. “We were fifteen leave us be” you say waving her off. “That is sweet you guys.” Sarina says smiling at the pair of you. Everyone knew you were together you never specified, but everyone knew. This also ment that no one on the team, except your closest friends, knew when you got together. Most of the girls thought you got together in recent years. Little to thier knowledge the two of you would soon enough be celebrating your eleven year anniversary.

ENGWNT X Reader
Hello guys!
This is just a short little fic I've worked on, it was going to be a reader x ENGWNT fic but now it's sort of an OC X ENGWNT fic, so let me know any thoughts.
It does allude to an eating disorder, it's not graphic or anything but if that triggers you then please avoid, or if you want to know more specifically about what's mentioned feel free to dm me :)

She knew before she arrived that Sarina and multiple members of the national management team would want to discuss her weight with her, why it was dropping again? What was going on? How they could help? And ultimately remind her of the consequences of her continued weight loss.
She knew the consequences, she was just past a point of caring, everything seemed of so little consequence somehow. So it was no surprise that before she'd even had a chance to get to her room after arriving she'd been called to see Sarina, who had gone through everything with her, tried to break through to her, to no avail.
"Brooke,"  "Yes?"  "The girls already know"  "Who?" She gulped, turning back around from her walk out of the room.  "Leah, Millie, Lucy and Kiera. We didn't have a choice but to tell them,"  "Fantastic" She sighed, eyes briefly closing as though to block out the situation she found herself in, before she walked silently out of the office. Sarina watching her small figure slowly disappear out of the room, hopeful that after all the other failed interventions this would be the turning point.

As Brooke walked up towards her room, suitcase trailing along behind her, using the stairs rather than the lift to waste time, she wondered what would be waiting for her.
Who would be waiting for her.
She usually shared a room with Lauren, but she knew the rest of the city girls were going to be arriving a day late, so her room would be open and waiting for the intervention she was sure the 4 players were planning even as she walked up towards them.
As she arrived on the corridor of her room she saw the sad little huddle of girls waiting for her. For a brief second she considered turning straight back around and walking the way she came, shutting out problems she didn't want to deal with.
But it was Millie who turned to look at her making direct eye contact, her suitcase and the annoying sound of it's wheels betraying her and making her presence obvious to them, making her chances of escape impossible.
So with a noticeable drop of her shoulders she carried on walking towards them, not speaking a word as she went, barely moving her eyes away from the door. She didn't say 'Hey' as she normally would, didn't go in for a long awaited hug, but instead just opened the door with her card and slipped in, leaving it open behind her for the other player to follow through.
The silence in the room was loud as she dropped her suitcase by the window and then went to sit on one of the beds claiming it as her own. They didn't speak as she took her shoes off, as she swung her feet up in front of her and lent back against the headboard, nothing until she turned to look at them properly again.
4 confused, upset, concerned faces all looking back at her.

I do have a part 2 for this, but just wanted to gauge interest before I published anything, so please let me know.

It only hurts this much right now II Hayley Raso x Reader
Tumblr media
Word count: 872
Disclaimer: English is not our first language
As the final whistle blow and you knew you were going to the final but to the cost of your girlfriend’s team loosing, your eyes immediately started looking for Hayley and her signature piece the bow in the colour of her jersey. Before you could find her, you were hold back by two strong arms which belonged to Alanna Kennedy. The tall blonde defender whispered in your ear: “Let Hayley be alone for a moment; she just gave everything on this pitch.” “Okay but tell her I’d like to see her when she’s ready for me.”, you nodded understandingly. In a reassuring tone Alanna answered: “I promise, I will do that.” Quickly she added: “oh, congrats by the way for entering the final of the world cup.”  A sad smile appeared on your lips as you thanked her for her congratulation before you could stop yourself you thought out loud: “ I really wish this was the endgame. Even though I know the hurt would probably be even stronger but you Matildas would have deserved this.” Empathetically the Australian player padded your shoulders: “But it’s the semi. I’ll go see where Hayley is.”
Meanwhile Hayley felt the loss settling into her bones, her back was aching, all what she wanted to do right now was getting back into the hotel, covering herself in a blanket and shutting the world out. Despite that the midfielder still needed to do one thing, so with a hopeful glance in her eyes she turned to Alanna: “Lani, hi.. is she still here?” “Yes, waiting for you.”, the taller woman nodded to the direction Hayleys girlfriend was standing between her very cheerful teammates Keira Walsh and Lucy Bronze.
With a bright smile on her lips, Keira took your hand in hers, “Come on, time to celebrate.“ You stalled, looking over at the Matildas crowding around the coaching bench, „Go on. I’ll join you in a minute…“ Keira and Lucy shared a surprised look. “Fine then. But we won’t wait for you.“, Lucy shrugged. You shook your head, laughing, “I’ll catch up with you anyway. Sarina said you’re not allowed to jump or run.“ While you were still joking with your teammates, you didn’t notice Hayley walking up to you.
Her sad smile made your features soften immediately. “Hi, love.“ “Hi.“, she whispered. You lowered your gaze towards your toes and cleared your throat, “Sorry for kicking you out…“ “It’s not your fault. You were the better team. Do you still want to swap jerseys?“ Hayley was already pulling her shirt over her head. You nodded while following suit, “Of course I still want to.“ You took her shirt and pulled it over your head, “You can be so proud of yourself and your team. You have been amazing.“ Hayley took you in, standing in front of her in your sports bra and the sad smile tugged on the corners of her mouth again, “ Thank you. It just doesn’t feel like it at the moment.“ “I know.“
While answering you realized that Hayleys yellow bow had fallen to the ground. With a swift move, you picked it up and held in front of her face, “Your bow fell out.“ Wordlessly, your girlfriend turned around, so you could put it back into her ponytail like you have done a million times before. “Thank you.“ You couldn’t help but smile as you read your own name on your jersey that Hayley was now wearing, “You look really good with my name on your back.“ Finally, Hayley turned around with a real smile on her lips and let her gaze drift over you, “I like the Matildas shirt on you too.“
Impatiently Keira with a huge grin on her face shouted at you: “We gotta go now, it’s time for you to say goodbye to your girlfriend!”  You chose to ignore the shout of your teammate to ask in a hopeful voice: “See you later or tomorrow for a video call?” “Yes, see you. Oh and..”, Hayley stopped mid-sentence as you were about to leave.  Quickly you turned your head around to look at her: “Yes?” The Australian player swallowed hard before continuing: “ You were amazing tonight.” Your thanks came out in a whisper.
Quietly the brunette confessed: “I really hate losing. But there is no one I’d rather lose to than you.” “Trust me I love winning but winning against you felt terrible, so I think we’re equal upon this matter.”, you replied with a sad smile. Mumbling she agreed: “Looks like we are.” “Love you, Hayley.”, you said with a painful ache in your chest because these words might never felt as true and deep as they did in this Australian night. The love was mirrored in your girlfriends’ eyes: “I love you too. No one deserves to go to the final more than you so go celebrate with your girls.”
Hayley was still sad but there was something else pumping through her veins now a sense of excitement about what the future hold for you two in Madrid and all the adventures which lay ahead of you.
We hoped you enjoyed our first short imagine. Feel free to write us if you liked it.

chapter 143 thoughts!
remember when tokyo blade was the longest most drawn out arc of oshi no ko. remember when that was our metric. i want to go back to those blissfully innocent days.
This chapter falls in line with a lot of other chunks of the Movie Arc where as a standalone tidbit of the story there are things about it that I like but taken in the greater context of everything around it, I have decidedly more mixed feelings on it. This is very much "chapter 123… 2!" with all that statement implies. If you liked 123, this will probably be like crack cocaine for you but if you were hoping for a more concrete resolution to what's going on with Aqua and Ruby then you're probably in the same boat as me in terms of coming away feeling frustrated.
Lacking resolution aside, I did really like a lot of what we got in this chapter, both in terms of the twins' relationship and as individual characterisation for them both. Immediately what stood out to me was Aqua's avoidant response to… well, basically everything Ruby says up to a point. It's funny to remember that he was the one who called Ai out on avoiding important conversations and yet here he is doing the very same thing. Like mother like son, huh?
Ruby's first line is also interesting. It definitely makes sense for her to fear a separation from Gorou given that it's basically happened twice now, but her specific fear that if she doesn't affirm his existence it will simply vanish implies a certain lack of security in his presence that I think is very interesting. We haven't really gotten enough time in Ruby's head for me to really dig into what that means for her, but I'm putting a pin in it nonetheless.
Aqua's response here also lines up with my prediction last chapter that we were heading for a rejection. Even if indirectly, he spends most of this chapter trying to turn Ruby away and shut her down without actually addressing her proposition, which I really don't blame him for lmao. Free my boy. Even when he does finally give Ruby an inch, so to speak, and start playacting as Gorou, it doesn't feel at all like a sincere moment of self expression. He's indulging her with a facsimile of their old dynamic, sure, but the actual words he's saying aren't particularly encouraging.
Of course, that's not how Ruby sees things. Or rather… That's not how Sarina sees things. She spends more or less this entire chapter with no stars in her eyes whatsoever. This makes a very interesting contrast with Aqua who, even in the moments that he identifies most strongly with his past self, never loses his stars. In this chapter, "Gorou Amamiya" is never anything more than an act for him but Ruby seems to have entirely returned to being Sarina, at least in this space.
Aqua snarks about her mental age not changing and I think this is truer then you might assume - I do think Ruby goes through a bit of a regression in this chapter and I mean this in an entirely value neutral sense. If you've ever returned to a place or people that defined a certain period of your life, it's very easy to find yourself slipping back into the mindset and behaviours that characterized you at that time. The quickest and easiest example of this is probably a person who lives on their own going back to their childhood home to spend the holidays with their siblings and parents. For better or worse, a return to old dynamics means a return to that old headspace - and that's just for regular people without any reincarnation baggage in the mix.
Ruby's experiences as Sarina have always been extremely foundational to her as a person and at least as of the private audition, she is characterized as seeing herself equally as both girls. So in a situation like this where she's finally getting to see and talk to Gorou again, it makes sense for "Sarina" to have taken the lead here.
As I've talked about before, this difference in how they individually view their reincarnation and how it affects their sense of self is always something that's had the potential to cause friction between the twins and we see it here, I think. The two of them aren't quite on the same page.
That said, this is a sweet conversation. It touches on the unique position the twins are in to give each other closure in a way nobody else really can. That said, it does feel really weird that this talk just… never happened before? I guess you could argue that this is a make or break point for their relationship and it took them being really pushed to have this honest of a talk but even then, I can't think of any real reason it didn't come sooner other than "the author didn't want it to happen yet".
i do have to ask though. where did aqua get those glasses. has he been wearing contacts this entire series and we never knew??
The question of to what degree the twins should be considered the people they were before their reincarnation has been a pretty consistent subject of debate in the fandom, particularly as pertains to Aqua. Wherever you stand on the issue though, I think Aqua is right when he says the Gorou Sarina wants him to be is a person who no longer exists. Too much time has passed and way too much has happened. Even removing reincarnation from the equation, there's not a person on this earth who's the exact same as they were 20 years ago. Living changes you just as much as dying does. Even if some intrinsic, unchanging core still exists, his experiences as Aqua Hoshino have changed him way too much for the "Gorou Amamiya" Ruby wants to see to be anything more than a performance.
more absolutely goated expression work from Mengo, btw: that wonky, rueful smile when Aqua first takes off Gorou's glasses. Sooooo good.
It's also just so so good to finally get some insight into what's going on with Aqua after he's been out of focus for so long. It's also really fantastic to finally see him let his walls down a bit and admit to some of the turmoil rolling around in his head. I think this is part of why we see him slip back into a single white hoshigan here; while the stuff he's saying here is concerning, it's honest. Possibly the most honest Aqua has been for a good long while and him finally letting himself be vulnerable with someone he trusts could be a really good positive step for him.
I say could be because… well, I don't think Ruby quite has a handle on how to help Aqua here. She's not even thinking of helping Aqua after all; she addresses him (in the Japanese text) as 'sensei' over and over to an almost excessive degree. Not only that but her responses to him are a little…
The core of this talk between Aqua and Ruby is the idea that Gorou-as-Aqua has changed in a way that leaves him unable to perform the role he once played in her life, while Ruby argues that nothing has changed. And like… to a degree, both of them are right and wrong. Gorou's core values are something Aqua inherited from him and they continue to drive him. But it simply isn't true that nothing has changed. Like I said up above: twenty entire years of living changes a person even before you factor in the trauma of Ai's death and everything Aqua has done to himself and other people in the name of avenging her. But this is something Ruby is unwilling or unable to see.
More great paneling work from Mengo: When Sarina hesitantly asks if 'Sensei' likes her, there is a very pointed beat panel of Aqua's face with his eyes hidden before he pops the Gorou act back on and goes 'uhhh yeah sure'. Once again, we see 'Gorou Amamiya' as avoidance and insincerity at least in the context of this chapter. It's an act Aqua is half-heartedly putting on but to Ruby-as-Sarina, this is the miracle of their reunion happening again before her eyes. And if they're 'Gorou' and 'Sarina' right now, what happens next shouldn't be a surprise.
And… this is the part of the chapter where I stop having nice things to say. Because believe it or not, I don't mind the kiss and I think in the context of this chapter, it makes a lot of sense and it helps to have had the story finally, explicitly lay down that this is 'Sarina' pursuing 'Gorou', at least from Ruby's POV. I also really liked the framing; that clashing of tones returns again, with the double spread shoujo looking kiss ruined by Aqua's pin-eyed look of alarm and dismay. This is the moment of tension breaking transgression the series has been building up to for over 140 chapters…
And we immediately cut away from addressing it. For at least one more week. I'm going to be really honest… this fucking infuriated me! It feels like an implicit admission that this is going to be needlessly dragged out even longer even though we finally had the perfect opportunity to properly address and solidify what is even going on with Aqua and Ruby right now. It feels like cynical reaction bait. It feels like a roided up version of 123 - throwing AquRuby shippers scraps so they'll keep reading while also avoiding undeniably canonizing an incest ship to not scare off the wider audience. My man has created the Schroedinger's Cat of incest. Is the guy in the box nailing his sister or not? Well gosh, you'd better tune in next week and maybe you'll find out!!!!
In short, the lack of resolution just sucks and the fact that it really seems like we're just leaving things there and moving on to something else makes me want to scream. The Movie Arc has been such an unfocused mess for so many chapters now and this really just takes the cake. Like… remember when this was supposed to be about Ai? Remember when this was supposed to be about finally digging into her past and her private life? If half the stuff in the script is just made up then why am I even supposed to get invested in what's going on in the movie in the first place?
At this point, I just desperately want this arc to be done so we can move on. Say what you will about Tokyo Blade's pacing, but at least that was focused and cohered with itself on a week to week basis. The Movie Arc by contrast feels so far removed from any of the ideas we started with that I have no clue what to expect or anticipate from it going forwards or if I should even bother to try.

Requests: Possible pt 2 to Who’s Loss?? That fic brought me to your page and I absolutely loved it.
Could we possibly get a pt 2 to see how they get reader to turn her emotions back on and possible apology from everyone who was mean to reader in the first half??
Is there coming a second part to 'Who's loss?', and then the aftermath from the readers brothers death, funeral, etc? And if reader will forgive the team?I thought it was an amazing story
Part 1 Who’s Loss
Word count: 3,9k
Two of the three days the team has after the semi-finals and before the final, are two incredibly long and depressing days for you.
That night after the match you took off towards the hospital, still clad in your England kit and leaving your teammates staring after you as you dashed out of the changing room. Your parents stood above your brother crying into each other’s shoulder when you entered the hospital room, fresh tears acting as a waterfall as they flowed down your cheeks. The shattering wails that bounced off the walls of the corridor had every nurse stopping in their tracks, their own hearts breaking at the sounds.
Though the pain in your eyes doesn’t vanish, any emotion you had is drained from you once you tire yourself out. You remain emotionless as your family is talked through the cremation process, you know it’s what your brother would have wanted. He has tried to talk to you all about it before but you immediately shut him up in denial of the possibility of losing him.
You wanted to do what he thought was right for him and you’re thankful to the morticians, as weird as that sounds, when they promise to cremate him as soon as possible.
When you get back to the part of the hotel where the England team is staying in it’s already three in the morning. The ear piercing scream you almost let out when you came face to face with Sarina in the dark hallway of the second floor, would have surely woken up half of Australia. With a hand on your chest you try to get your breathing back to regular as the coach patiently waits, concern written all across her face as she rests a hand on your back.
“Hey coach” you breathe out, scratching your eyebrow. You know you don’t have to explain where you were, why you were late for curfew because she had been the one to get you a driver for the hospital. However, you are much more curious as to why she was up at this hour.
“Are you alright darling?” she speaks with a warmth in her words, one that makes you feel safe and cared for as you nod.
You know you’re lying, hell, she knows that you’re obviously not telling the truth but there’s an unspoken mutual agreement that she wouldn’t ask too much about it.
“Look Y/N, I understand if you’d like a few days off to grieve and if it’s what you would need- I think it might be healthier for you to miss the final”
Once again your breath gets caught in your throat as you press your lips together. You appreciated her want to help and caring so much for her players, recognizing them as humans rather than just employees. And you’re seriously considering locking yourself in your room for the next two weeks and letting yourself get consumed by the agonizing pain of your brother’s passing.
But you’ve worked too hard to get to this point, those are the words of your brother, something he’d always say when you felt like giving up and you lived by those words. Why quit now when you’ve worked for this your entire life?
Playing in the world cup and winning it had been a dream of yours that your brother shared, his passion bigger for your sports career than his own career and you weren’t going to bail on him now, not when you already missed his last moments.
“Thank you coach but I’ll be okay to play, I want to play in the final” you tell her in determination and she watches you for a moment, waiting for a sign of hesitation as she herself also contemplates whether that would be a good idea.
“Okay then, I believe in you” she rubs your shoulder as you thank her, lips pulled into a straight line as her expression turns into one of sympathy. “I’m really sorry about your brother, I know how much he meant to you”
You nod again and Sarina is rather taken aback by the stoic look you’re wearing, almost as if you’ve totally forgotten about the emotional rollercoaster of a day you’ve had and the loss of your big brother. She doesn’t pry though as she lets you go with a final ‘get some rest, you can miss first practice tomorrow’.
You collapse onto your bed in exhaustion, not bothering to move the blanket from under you or changing out of the hoodie and England shorts you’ve still got on. You didn’t care.
The next day the first time the girls see you is at lunch but you refuse to look any of them in the eye, their words from last evening running through your mind. Your feet carry you to a free spot at one of the tables and you sit down quietly, jaw clenching when you hear someone clearing their throat next to you.
You had no intention to speak to anyone, much less the people who showed their lack of belief in you.
“Y/N, listen-” Leah starts only to stop when you clear your own throat and aggressively start cutting the piece of meat on your plate.
“I’m really sor-” you stab the food with your fork and Lucy and Millie exchange looks over the table.
“About yesterday, I shouldn’t have- I mean we shouldn’t have treated you like that” she finally gets it out and she waits for a response from you.
Only you don’t give one as you raise the fork to your mouth and chew on the plain meat in silence. She sighs softly from next to you and she meets Keira’s worried looks.
The way you stared into the abyss and slowly chewed on the little food you’ve gotten for yourself was beyond agitating and caused distress for many of your teammates.
“Please eat more than just that” Keira pleads carefully with you and you stop in your chewing for a second. Just as they think you’ll give some kind of reaction, maybe a verbal response, you go back to chewing in silence and their heads drop in defeat.
“Y/N, please” sounds Millie’s voice and you almost meet her eyes but a hand on your back makes you turn to Leah who instantly retracts her hand as you send her a glare. Without another thought you stand up from the table and take your tray over to the wrack and leave the area.
The blonde stares at the door that closes behind you, her expression laced with sorrow. The girls at the table exhale in unison as they rub at their foreheads, Lucy muttering a ‘fuck’.
“This is all my fault” Leah mumbles helplessly as her eyes well up but Georgia shakes her head.
“No, I’ve said such bad things to her yesterday too. God I was so mean” the young girl admits guiltily.
“Me too”-s are heard throughout the cafeteria and Leah blinks up at the ceiling.
“What do we do?” Lotte’s question is directed at the blonde, Leah knew you best. Perhaps it was why her words hurt more than the others’ even when you knew she just wanted to win. Leah shakes her head though and closes her eyes for a moment.
“I have no idea.”
Your afternoon gym session with the team is completed in silence on your part as the cold expression remains plastered on your face. You ignore your friends who all try to talk to you, to apologize to you but you pay them no attention as you simply walk past them and continue your workout.
Mary and Ellie plan to corner you after training but the two goalkeepers find themselves staring at open space near the equipment you were using just a moment ago.
No one is able to reach you and they’ve got no idea where you’ve disappeared to.
“Where’s Y/N?” Rachel all but demands as she and the team burst into Sarina’s meeting with the assistant coaches and technical team. Her annoyed expression morphs into understanding as she lowers her hand from the board she’s been pointing at.
“She left girls, she’ll be back before dinner” she informs them calmly and looks at them expectantly, waiting for them to leave. She knows better than to assume her team would be fine with that little information.
“Where? Why?”
“She has places to be and I suggest you all let her grieve and leave her be. I am rather disappointed in the lack of support you’ve shown to a teammate, a friend of yours regardless of your lack of knowledge about why she was performing poorly in those first 47 minutes.” she sighs in thought and the girls lower their heads.
“She is okay, as okay as someone can be after what her family and brother have been through. I also want you girls to resolve the rift this has caused in the team dynamics, we can not be going into a world cup final with a team that’s falling apart.” she finishes sternly but the team knows she’s right if they want to win and make things right with you.
It’s late into the evening when you get back to the hotel. You’ve spent your whole afternoon with your family and saying goodbye to your brother. You scattered his ashes in the ocean with a promise whispered into the air as you watched the waves carry him farther from you and closer to his paradise where he would be happy and free of cancer.
Cancer, what a bitch.
After the team’s talk with Sarina the girls got a pretty good idea of what you have been doing after training and this time they don’t bother you, they understand that you don’t want to speak with them.
If you would have been paying attention at dinner or would have looked up, you would’ve been met with the brooding looks of your friends. But you don’t look up, you shut them out, you don’t hear them and to be honest, you look like a robot as you impassively sit in your seat.
The next day passes by in a blur as you focus most of your attention on practice and perfecting the on-pitch team chemistry and running through set pieces. In those hours on the football fields, in the gym and team meetings you allow yourself to forget all about your brother’s death. You force yourself to turn that side off, the side of you that wants to break down at just the thought of family and wants to run into your best friend’s arms where you know you’ll feel safe and comforted.
But you can’t do that either, not when you still felt so betrayed.
That day the girls try everything to show their care for you in different ways. Whether it’s Alessia and Tooney getting a small smile out of you with their jokes, a smile which you try to hide and act like you haven’t been listening to their conversation. Or it’s Lucy and Beth looking out for you at every corner, an arm passed around your shoulder -when you actually let them- as they babble on about whatever.
But in those moments you feel like you’re back to your old self, the Y/N before that game against Germany, the Y/N before her favorite person left her all alone.
You start being more open to the girls again, masking it as being annoyed by their constant nagging about eating more and the countless apologies you’ve heard in the span of just 72 hours. But it’s working and the team is feeling victorious when you actually make eye contact with Keira during breakfast on matchday -1.
Friday is more relaxed despite the pressure of the final that would happen the next day and you’ve got less practice than before, Sarina wanting everyone to be in top shape for tomorrow.
You’ve got a team bonding during dinner which gradually ends with everyone making a speech. Sarina starts by thanking the team for their efforts and expressing her excitement and determination to win the world cup. The coach is followed by Leah then Lucy, Millie and Mary.
“..and really I’d just like to tell you all how much this team and this country means to me, we’re winning tomorrow!” Mary finishes with a shout and the room erupts in cheers and claps, clearly everyone was hyped about the final.
You slowly wander over to the ‘stage’ the team has set up, thinking about just what you were going to say.
“Erm-” you clear your throat nervously, scratching at your neck as you meet Sarina’s eyes who nods encouragingly. “I want to start by saying this has always been a dream for me, not just playing in such a big tournament, but getting to represent England.”
Leah’s lips quirk up as she remembers the joy you both felt when you were called up at the age of 17. The blonde was studying next to you at your dining table when you got the call and she was the first one to congratulate you, her happy screeching followed by your brother’s as they both pulled you into a bone crushing hug, jumping up and down.
“It is an honor to be here, truly, and to play with such amazing players, some who were my role models growing up.” your eyes linger on Lucy and Jill, who had come to visit the team before their game. “I’d like to thank you girls for all the support, care and love I’ve received throughout the years and the unconditional belief you have in me” you breathe in deeply.
Despite the words that were harshly screamed in your face during the game against Germany and the betrayal you felt, your team was a second family to you and the ill-feeling you felt towards them the last two days wouldn’t change that.
“I have no doubt in my mind that we’re going to come out victorious tomorrow, we’ve come far and we’re here for a reason” you look over the team with a determined look, the passionate, football obsessed player side of you showing.
“We’ve come farther than last time and we’re here for that trophy. Remember, the English are never done and au revoir to the French tomorrow!” You pump your fist into the air as the girls cheer loudly, your words boosting their confidence in winning the world cup.
You walk back to your seat, this time doing so with a smile on your face as you watch the reactions of your teammates and friends, the looks in their eyes expressing the love they have for you.
After the hour long dinner which had turned into three hours, you exit the dining area with a content look on your face as you make your way back towards your room. A hand grasps your arm and you’re pulled back with a yelp.
You whip around to come face to face with Leah who’s eyes widen and she raises her hands in innocence. You drop your arms when you realize there’s no actual threat and you look at your best friend expectantly, waiting for her to reveal why she’s just manhandled you. The anxious look in Leah’s eyes lets you know what she’s here for and your own eyes soften.
“Y/N/N, I’m really really sorry about what I’ve said during the game against Germany-”
“It’s okay Leah, you’re captain and I wasn’t playing well in a very important match.” you assure her with a pat to her shoulder and she looks at the action in confusion. You never only patted her but now she felt so far from you despite being physically close. You’re not upset with her anymore, but a part of you still felt a sense of resentment.
“No, it’s not okay and I should not have reacted that way, especially as captain” she drops her shoulders and you stare at her as she gathers her thoughts.
“I shouldn’t have treated you like that and I’m so very sorry. If there’s any way I can make it up to you? I just really want my Y/N back.” she confesses tearfully and you can feel your own eyes welling up.
The beat of silence that follows her question makes Leah rethink everything she’s just said, wondering if the two of you were ever going to be friends again.
“You can make it up to me by winning tomorrow” a wide grin spreads across both your faces as Leah laughs lightly, wiping at her eyes in relief. “But seriously, I forgive you Lee” you bring her into a hug and you melt into the safety of her warmth. Leah closes her eyes as she embraces the moment before she feels her mouth going dry again.
“I’m so sorry about your brother” she mumbles out, her voice laced with empathy and you nod into her shoulder as you blink back the tears that gather in your eyes.
“I know, me too” her hand moves up and down as she rubs your back wanting to provide as much comfort as she could.
“He’s very proud of you though, I know that much” she tells you sincerely and you hold on tighter. A moment later you release each other from the death grip you’ve had on her and Leah’s eyes sparkle in thought.
“How about being co-captains?” your eyes almost pop out of their sockets at the suggestion.
“W-what?”
“I’m serious” Leah shrugs “You deserve captaincy”
“Thank you” you choke out but Leah shakes her head at that.
“You’ve only got yourself to thank Y/N/N, you’re an amazing player and I’m happy I get to play alongside you.”
Your heart is beating out of your chest as England and France take the field and the anthems are sung passionately by the teams and the people in the stadium. You chew on your gum nervously as kick off happens at exactly 12:00.
Your belief in the girls is strong and their belief in you is even stronger and with all of your focus only on the game and the promise you made to your big brother, England start off strong.
32 minutes into the game when you receive the ball from Nikita you don’t rush as you scan the area. With your long possession of the ball three French players move in on you and with the freed up space you make the pass to Chloe who toes the ball over the goal line. The cheering of the fans deafens you for a second as the two of you run towards each other in celebration, soon joined by the rest of the team.
England’s lead lasts far longer than the French would like but they manage to equalize in the 55th minute. Despite the conceded goal team spirits are still high and determined looks are exchanged amongst your team.
The fight for the ball is close to deadly, harsh shoves from both sides, trash talking players and tackles. England have had many close chances on goal but Pauline pushes the ball away before any of the shots could get closer to the goal post. Frustration is evident on everyone’s faces but as you look up into the stands and spot someone, you know you’ve got to give it your all.
With frustration comes aggression and when Georgia is fouled in the 78th minute, England knows this is their chance to take the lead again. The young brunette breathes in deeply as she analyzes the goalkeeper’s movements. When the whistle is blown she knows exactly where she wants her shot to go and she strikes it perfectly.
The fans watch in awe as it passes under the goalkeeper who dived, the ball staying centered. It’s an amazing goal to help your team and Georgia knows as she pounces on the team.
In minute 93, due to added injury time, Leah and Alex are caging in Delphine Cascarin. The player moves towards the penalty area and as she loses control of the ball Leah is quick to nudge it out of the French player’s reach. Lucy rolls it over to her other foot as the opposition advances and she sends it through Renard’s legs and over to you. With both teams piled on your side of the pitch you make a quick move and cut through the rest of the players.
You know this is your moment, you know it’s your chance to live up to your promise and you know you’ve got to get this, for him.
No French player can match your speed as you dive down the length of the field, controlling the ball as you sprint with the flow of the light breeze that passes through the stadium.
You can feel his presence, encouraging you to take on the goalkeeper as you reach the penalty box. The goalkeeper has stepped off her line wanting to stop you from getting closer and you move right, herself following.
There’s a split second where you both think she’s gotten the ball from you but then you fake left and she trips in her haste of scrambling towards where she thought she’d be met with the ball. Without much effort you send the ball into the top right corner of the goal, close enough to the area that there was no way you could’ve missed.
Your celebration means many things as you hold up three fingers on your left hand and one on your right. It’s showing the scoresheet, 3-1 to England, it’s also the copy of your jersey number, a rather interesting number 31. But most importantly, it had been your brother’s favorite number, a unique lucky number. It was in honor of him that you had it as your jersey number too.
Your gaze remains on the sky as your teammates pile on top of you, screaming and shaking each other in ecstasy and you let the tears slip from your eyes.
“That was for you big bro, all for you” your whisper is inaudible, you can’t even hear yourself over the crowd in the stadium and your own teammates as you smile at the sky.
Relief washes over you as you turn to your teammates and jump on them, holding onto Leah’s shoulders later when you’re given the trophy. England win the World Cup for the first time since 1966, all the doings of you and your team.
That’s right, they were your team, they were your teammates, your family. They were your everything and you know your brother is smiling down at you proudly as the girls pass the trophy around.

How You Met
~ Mary Earps ~
~~~~~~~~~~
meeting Mary came alongside your introductions to all your new teammates when you joined Manchester United
having previously played only in the Championship League there were equal nerves with everyone
just settling into the club was scary enough, you didn’t have time to think about crushes even if you wanted to
one thing you had seen as a little odd though was when you came home and the same car from training was again next to yours
this time at the house next door
the following morning you strode through your front door, keys spinning on your finger
and saw the one and only Mary Earps climbing into that very vehicle in the driveway beside your own
what began with waves and morning greetings quickly progressed into carpooling together, and soon came invites to dinners, movie nights and post-training exploration of Manchester
(disguised as a simple tour guide act, just welcoming you to the city, obviously!)
after three months of shared rides and teasing jibes at each other constantly, came the sudden announcement of lockdown across the country
you were together during the initial announcement
and still a few hours later when it was decided that training would be cancelled for the foreseeable future
quickly it was decided that if you were to get cabin fever, you would rather do it with your new friend by your side
unbeknown to you at the time the world would be shut down a lot longer than expected
you developed a strong routine though, cooking together, training together, taking your daily walk together
Mary talking you out of adopting a dog on every walk you took
there were also the less enjoyable moments
arguably though they were the ones that bonded you more
picking Mary up from where she lay sobbing, questioning her worth and her skill, vowing to help prove it to her
you went online to order a goal for your back garden the moment she fell asleep cuddled into your lap that night
Mary picked you up too
particularly upon finding out your dad’s cancer had made a recurrence and knowing you could easily make it ten times worse if you travelled home
so walking back into training post-lockdown, there was no question of who your best friend was
you could rival Lessi & Tooney with how close you became
there was an obvious improvement in Mary’s goalkeeping following the lockdown
and she only continued to develop as you encouraged her into extra training sessions
benefitting just as much, as a striker yourself
the following year she finally received her well-deserved call-up as Sarina’s number 1
you couldn’t be prouder! sending flowers the second you heard
unfortunately within that year, you had left Manchester and coincidentally lost contact with Mary
you had returned home to care for your siblings when your father's condition had worsened
taking a break from football entirely since the day he passed
but upon receiving your congratulations the older girl took it as an olive branch to reach out
getting in contact she tried to convince you to return, if not to Manchester then at least to football in general
she was determined to help you to the England team just as you had fulfilled your vow to help her
you were hand-in-hand, knees bouncing anxiously, sat together when her efforts were proved successful
Mary’s call-up came first, and hours of nervous waiting later, yours followed
it was earlier that morning that you had admitted the more than friendship feelings that had been realised between you since your return to Manchester
having woken up to find yourself sharing your bed again
(you had honestly lost count of how often it happened)
and you had refused to ignore it any longer
pulling her tighter in your grasp rather than slipping away
you soon found yourself spilling it all
hence beginning a beautiful journey together in both romance and football as you prepared to head to Australia
~~~~~~~~~~
I hope everyone continues to be as excited as I am about this series!! Big Mary day today🩵

Broken Hearts Football Club | Chapter 25

Masterlist

"You have to cut the tomatoes smaller."
"Smaller than this?"
"Yes. That's what the recipe says."
"Ok, fine. Smaller it is" Ben sighed.
"Oh… my God"
"What am I doing wrong now?" he asked.
"Sarina is calling me" June said, her eyes fixed on her phone.
"Then pick up!"
"I can't."
"What? Why not?"
"She's going to tell me that I'm not going to the World Cup."
"You don't know that, June."
"Yes, I do! I'm not ready yet and… Chilwell, what are you doing?"
"Picking up for you" he smiled, giving her her phone.
"You, you… urgh" she groaned. "Hello?" June said. "I'm good, thank you. Just doing some cooking. Yes. Yes. Ok. Yeah, yeah… Thank you. Ok, bye."
"And? What did she say?" Ben asked.
"She… she said… she" June mumbled, tears coming to her eyes.
"Dear Lord, Maxwell. Speak! You are making me nervous!"
"I'm going to Australia, Ben. I'm going to the World Cup" she cried.
"You are going? Like, for real?"
"For real" she chuckled, her little laugh getting mixed with her sobs.
"Oh my God, June!" he said as he hugged her, lifting her in the air and starting to spin with her.
"Ben, stop!" she laughed. "You are gonna make me dizzy!"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry" he replied, stopping but still hugging her. "But you are going to the World Cup!"
"I am."
"I knew all that hard work would pay off. I am so proud of you, June. So proud. I love you" Ben said before kissing her.
There. He had said it. He had said the three words.
And he was putting all those feelings he had for her in that kiss, letting her know that he had meant it, trying to somehow stop her from freaking out. And it was working, because the moment those three words had left Ben's lips, June had wanted to run away like she always did. But she couldn't. The way he was kissing her was making her forget about everything and anything, even her name.
"Come" he said, breaking their kiss and taking her hand.
"Where?" June asked, trying to catch her breath.
"Upstairs. Let's go celebrate the good news."
"You mean…"
"Yes, Maxwell. I want to do it. Don't you?" Ben asked with a teasing smile.
"I do" she nodded. "But are you sure? What about not wanting to become one of my fuck buddies?"
"I know I'm not going to be one of them."
"How?"
"Call it a hunch" he shrugged. "Now, are you coming upstairs with me or not?"
"What about our lunch?"
"We'll eat later. We'll need to recharge" he smirked.
"Chilwell… Did you just quote me?" June laughed.
"Maybe" he shrugged again. "Are you coming or not?
"That'll depend on what you can do" she replied with a mischievous smile.
"Ok, come here you little dirty mind" Ben said, picking her up and throwing her over his shoulder, June not being able to stop laughing.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"Penny for your thoughts?" Ben said while playing with June's hair, her finger drawing small hearts on his chest.
"It's nothing, something silly."
"Everything you say is silly, Maxwell. Ouch!" he complained after she pinched his nipple.
"You deserve it for being an idiot" she smiled.
"You know, when Mason said you were fire in bed, I didn't expect it to be violence."
"He said what?" she laughed, turning to look at Ben.
"His words, not mine."
"Men" she sighed. "Do you think we will get to be proper friends again?" June asked, resting her chin on his chest.
"You will. You just need to be patient. And you still haven't told me what you were thinking about" Ben said, putting a lock of hair behind her ear.
"It's nothing, I already told you" she shrugged.
"And I already told you I want to know."
"You are so annoying, Chilwell."
"You weren't thinking the same 10 minutes ago" he smirked.
"Shut up!" she replied, this time hitting him.
"Ouch!" he laughed.
"But now that you mention it… that is what I was thinking about. What we were doing 10 minutes ago. I can't remember the last time I felt something like that" she said in almost a whisper, her cheeks getting warm.
"Wait, Mason never made you… Ouch! June, stop hitting me!" Ben complained again.
"Then stop being an idiot!"
"Ok, ok. No more comments. But what do you mean with something like that?"
"I… I…" she said, back to playing with her finger on his chest. "I can't remember the last time I had sex with someone and it felt like something else. Like there was more to it, more than just something physical, you know?"
"You mean you can't remember the last time you made love with someone."
"As corny as that sounds… Yes" she whispered, feeling her cheeks now burning. Why was she suddenly acting like that? She had never been shy when it came to sex or talking about it. But right now, in that moment…
"Do you know why it felt like that?"
"I have a slight idea." Ha, slight. She knew perfectly well why it had felt different.
"I meant what I said earlier" Ben said after a few moments in silence.
"What?" she said, looking at him again.
"I love you, June" he replied, caressing her cheek. "I know you are probably freaking out again, but I needed to say it. I needed to get it out of my chest. And I know you aren't ready to say it back yet, but I don't care. I'll wait as long as it takes. Your body has done the talk for you and I'm fine with that."
"My body?"
"You just admitted it. We made love, it wasn't just sex. And it's felt different from all the other guys you've been with because you have feelings for me that you never had for them. But again, June" he said, cupping her face. "I don't want to put any pressure on you, you are in charge of the rhythm here. If you aren't ready, that's ok. I will wait. Because you are so worth it, June. You aren't like any other woman I've met before. You are amazing both on and off the pitch, a real role model for many women and girls out there. You fight for what you want, not caring about what the haters say."
"Haters like you, for example?"
"For example" Ben chuckled. "You have beauty and brains, and remember when I told you that my heart had never felt healthier than when I was kissing you? It wasn't just something cheesy to say. It was the truth. Even though you say it is broken, your heart is so big that it manages to fix everything that doesn't properly work on mine."
"Ben…"
"I love you, June Maxwell. I love you and I don't think I will ever get tired of saying it. Because you are talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing…"
"Are you quoting me again?" she laughed.
"I'm technically quoting Lady Gaga, not you" he shrugged. "But where was I? Oh, yes. Amazing, show stopping, spectacular…"
"Shut up, Chilwell" she said, putting her finger on those lips of his that she adored.
"Make me" he smirked.
"My pleasure" June smiled before kissing him and letting her body do the talking again, letting it be the one that told Ben what words couldn't just yet… That her heart wasn't broken anymore. That the same way she had fixed his, he had mended hers. That she also loved him.
