you know what I find absolutely insane? we don't have rings. we, as in Earth. Uranus has them. Saturn has them. Neptune too. but we don't. and we only have one moon which implies that at some point millions of years ago we did. but we don't. and only one moon.
earth is so rare in that way. the cosmic phenomena that we exist and it's how it is. it's something I think about a lot.

Snarry Synastry: the Astrology of Love (HP Astro #3)
At last: my opportunity to tell you how Snarry are soulmates, as evidenced by THE STARS.
But first: check out Astrology Introduction.
Then maybe the individual posts for Severus and Harry.
Tumblr media
That, my friends, is our synastry chart.
If you Googled zodiac compatibility, you might be told that Leo and Capricorn together just doesn't work. Well...what the heck do they know? Two pieces of a whole complex puzzle don't fit, and you call it quits??
Different pieces of the chart interact differently within a single person. It's much more complicated when you throw in 2 separate charts for 2 separate people. You have double the puzzle pieces to play with!
Their suns, the essence of them, clash a bit: no-nonsense, structured Capricorn versus playful, charismatic Leo. Cold earth, hot fire. Water nourishes the earth, and air feeds fire, and that's what you need to know about what energies work together and what energies struggle.
But if we're going to talk about love, why don't we look to the moon and Venus first?
Moon: the center of emotion. The solid Taurean earth drinking in that fresh Piscean water. Or imagine Taurus as a clay cup that holds the water; offering it structure and safety and comfort.
Severus' Taurus moon speaks to sentimentality, and sensuality. Steadfastness, and loyalty. Romance, and devotion. It is in the seventh house, signaling an emotional need to be connected to others.
Harry's Pisces moon is empathetic, imaginative, affectionate. There are hidden depths to his emotions. He is intuitive, and perceptive. His feelings, and those of others, might be too complex to name, but his gut never leads him astray. He always knows, without knowing.
Both moons have an appreciation for art and beauty. The dreamy Piscean moon appeals to the Taurean sense of romance; the Taurean soul for music enchants and reflects the Piscean expressiveness. Whimsical Pisces working hand in hand with Taurean practicality. A shared love of leisure, and peace.
More than the signs, look to the houses. Severus' moon in the 7th house, telling of his emotional need for human connection. Harry's moon in the 4th house, speaking to his emotional need for home and family. Both have a deep, aching need to belong.
Sadly, neither had their needs met growing up. Severus' 7th house needs were first handled carelessly by Lily, then used and abused by Voldemort and Dumbledore. Harry's 4th house needs were stolen the night his parents' died, and trampled during his years with the Dursleys. And while he might have seen Hogwarts as home, the environment was too chaotic and dangerous to be any sort of safe haven.
They have a connection: similar histories of bullying and abuse. Similar lives being used for the war effort. Similarly having their emotional needs warped. There is plenty for them to share, and once they see past all of their animosity, there will be space to truly see each other. To form a bond.
In Harry, Severus will have his need to relate to others met. Harry will have no desire to weaponize Severus' devotion. Harry will treat Severus' heart with all of the care it deserves. Harry knows what it's like to have one's heart battered and bruised. More than that, he'll see what a treasure that heart truly is. Severus' heart is of the earth; it is a gemstone, bright and beautiful, and with such a capacity for love. A strong heart that beats on, in spite of all that life has thrown at him.
As for Harry, his PIscean heart is prone to addiction. He is captivated by Severus' devotion. In a terrible fit of greed, he is glad that Severus' heart is his now. He guards it selfishly. He makes a chest for it, gold and encrusted with jewels, lined in silk, and he locks it up. And for all of Severus' grumbling, he will be glad of it; will breathe a sigh of relief that his heart can rest; will be shocked and awed by the worth Harry sees in him.
In turn, Severus' heart is a home for Harry's own. Severus' loyalty is unwavering. He offers the stability Harry needs, and the romance he craves. His whimsy is entertained by Severus' creative side, and indulged by his sentimental side. He will, in turn, feel treasured by the mementoes Severus keeps. Photos, letters, tickets. A scrap of wrapping paper. A handmade birthday card.
Best of all, their love is their best kept secret. No one else will be privy to their innermost desires. Only each other. Earth and water are reserved, you see. Earth's suspicion (or "realism"), and water's vulnerability (must be hidden, must be protected.) The world need never know just how tightly bound they are, at heart.
We might also look to Venus, the planet of love and joy. Wild Geminin air feeding traveling Sagittarian fire. Playful flirtation (Harry) meets adventurous romance (Sagittarius.) There is a shared enjoyment of learning and exploration between them.
In Harry, we see the Gemini need for change. What are his great interests? Quidditch and Defense. In both activities we see the same ground rules, but no encounter is ever exactly the same. We see a variety of foes, be it on the pitch or on the battlefield. There is the Gemini need for mental stimulation, both in social interaction (witty banter) and the physical realm (more action-oriented than academic.) He likes to be challenged, which could be due to Venus' placement in the 8th house (sexuality, death, change.)
In Severus, we see Sagittarius passion and wisdom channeled into more academic pursuits. Not just reading dusty old books, but correcting them (the Prince's marginalia.) Learning the rules so that he can explore their boundaries and mold them to his will. Improving potions, inventing spells. A master duelist. He has a drive to learn and do. A fire within that lights him up, even in the darkest moments. It isn't only a means to an end, but enjoyment. There is a thrill for him in expanding his horizons. In bettering himself.
Harry and Severus share their curiosity, and a zest for experience. They were both spellbound by the promise of magic. They see potential, and opportunity, and they want to see where it leads. With the war behind them, they can move forward together and luxuriate in their freedom.
When they are not seeking refuge in each other at home, they travel. Imagine vacations across the world to see new magical attractions, or visiting important historical sites. Trying new restaurants together. Picking up new skills and hobbies. Sharing new information over breakfast, or dinner.
More than all they share, is how deeply fascinating they find one another. Both sharp and quick of mind. Both bold and unafraid. Similar enough, familiar enough, to be safe; different enough, lively enough, to provide entertainment and amusement. Challenging enough that no day will ever be boring, and they'll forever push each other to learn and grow. The need for variety, the need for change, the need for stimulation that they can fulfill for one another.
Perhaps we should peek in on Mars, as well. Mars covers sexuality as well as action, anger, and aggression. Seems important to cover all of the basics for these enemies-to-lovers!
Severus' Mars is in Sagittarius, and Harry's in Libra. Another fire-and-air combination, but Libra is more of a gentle breeze than a gust of wind. Envision seduction by firelight. Out in the open, beneath a full moon. A campfire to keep you warm, a whisper of wind caressing your skin. Imagine a dance -- the heat of your bodies, moving as seamlessly as the wind. Stoking each other's desire.
That's what this is. Sagittarius is a visionary; fueled by passion and optimism. Severus has too much darkness, too much of an edge to be accused of such frivolity, but it is there within him. Driven by goals, by morals, by hope. There is confidence and wisdom to Sagittarius energy.
Those traits appeal to Harry's Libra side. The Libra values of fairness, justice, balance. For peace -- for that is the end goal, isn't it? Peace. Freedom. Libra can be passive and indecisive; the scales, you see, weighing all options. Libra is also drawn to charm, aesthetics, pleasure. And if Severus isn't traditionally charming or handsome, Harry is captivated by him all the same. By his spirit, and mind. And his body, when they come together.
And because Venus and Mars are lovers, let's look at how they interact here. Sagittarius Venus and Libra Mars; Sagittarius Mars and Gemini Venus. Fire and air, both ways. Men whose minds are alight, and whose bodies are aflame; for and with each other.
More interestingly, Harry's Gemini Venus is in opposition to Severus' Sagittarius Mars. This angle shows an intense relationship between these planets. Sexual desire, romantic attraction. It is a strong, irresistible connection that can be either unbreakable or unstable. Maybe even both, at once. Oppositions are not easy connections to have; it's much too intense to ever be easy. But it can work.
And with all the enthusiasm if Gemini and Sagittarius energy, this opposition works better than most. Perhaps because their roller coaster relationship ensures they'll never be bored.
There is another opposition between them, as well: Severus' Capricorn Sun against Harry's Cancer Mercury. There might be differing opinions, differing viewpoints, that lead to lively conversations. Again, oppositions are intense. Either they work together and find common ground, help each other grow, or...they crash and burn.
If we remember that the sun is our core, then we can see how Severus might be more personally impacted by disagreements. They are speaking of matters that he finds vital to who he is. And, if you read up on Harry's chart, you'll know that Harry's particular Mercury placement makes him a bit impulsive and reactive. This can often lead to Harry putting his foot in his mouth, Severus feeling attacked, and Harry turning defensive.
This can explain a lot of how they butt heads, with their different views and different approaches on top of their immediate animosity. Once they move past the disdain, forge a bond, and grow comfortable with one another, I think this will ease some of the sting. They'll know each other too well by then, can mitigate problems that arise, and work with the strength of their opposition.
There are plenty of aspects (relationships) between their charts. Harry's Sun trining Severus' Venus -- the core of Harry, Severus' hub of love and pleasure, an easy connection. Harry's moon, on the cusp of Aries, trining Severus' Sagittarius Mars. Another smooth tie between them.
Look, too, to the elements. Severus' earth (Sun, moon, Mercury) drinking in Harry's water (moon, Mercury, rising.) Harry's air (Venus, Mars) feeding Severus' fire (Venus, Mars.) The fire of Harry's core finding its match in Severus. The fertile soil of Severus' core, bursting with life from Harry's essential (emotional, watery) touch. The easy comfort of their emotional life, the grand adventure of their romance. The intrigue and challenge where they clash (fire and earth, a volcanic eruption; air and water, a deadly hurricane.)
It would be remiss not to mention their matching ascendants. There is ease, at first glance. They wear the same Scorpion mask. Mysterious and intriguing, even a bit dangerous. They share an intensity, an obsessiveness. The sense of too much hidden and too much once unveiled. Too dark, too sharp, for the faint of heart.
More than that: the ascendant tells us the chart ruler. The chart ruler is a planet that plays a prominent role. For both of them, the traditional rulership of Scorpio is Mars (war), and the modern rulership is Pluto (death.) It's too fitting, really. With how the first war so deeply impacted Harry and Severus, and how vital a role both played in the second. Both used as tools for the Order, and weapons against Voldemort.
And how deeply affected both were by death.
For both, Hogwarts was a death of its own: the end of their non-magic lives, and the birth of a new wonderland. Neither had an easy time there: both bullied (Severus by the Marauders, Harry by Slytherins and by Snape himself.) Both surviving the chaos of Hogwarts, and the danger (Severus and the Shrieking Shack, Harry and....every year he was there.)
Then the end of Hogwarts was another death, a darker one. Severus left Hogwarts and joined Voldemort, joined the war. Harry abandoned his final year to end the war.
Severus saw death day after day in his time under Voldemort; and Voldemort caused the death of Harry's family. Harry and Severus both lost Lily. They both lost Dumbledore. Both were marked by Death (Harry's scar, Severus' Mark.) Severus was a Death Eater. Harry became Master of Death. Both died, and came back (I refuse to believe Severus is dead. R e f u s e.)
Both died many times over the years. The end of innocence. The end of beliefs. Changed, and transformed, by all they endured. Dragged through the fire again and again, always reborn in the ashes. Stronger in some ways, more brittle in others. Forged by time and circumstance from weapons into heroes.
No one else can know the touch of Death as they have, nor the pain of the fire. Who else has undergone tragedy and transformation at the same intensity they have? Who else has been so used and abused by family, by friends, by life? It is an unholy transgression and sacred communion both at once. They have been flayed alive, and once thrust together, will never know intimacy the way they have with one another.
Two wounded souls, finding solace and transcendence in one another.

One of the reasons why Atlas is such an interesting and fun character to me is the the fact that he was never actually an actor in the Tezuka Star System. Like, he showed up in Astro Boy then just kept coming back for decades to come. But never really by Tezuka himself ? He keeps re-entering the spotlight due to different creators, and has permanently solidified himself as one of the biggest and most permanent / influential Astro Boy characters. Bitches love Atlas sooo much that he exists as some kind of pseudo-star system character. I am Bitches, obviously.
