I’m asked on occasion what’s one tool in my Get Home Bag and Bug Out Bag most people would never think of that they should add. The Silcock water key or commonly called a 4-way water key is a great tool to have in your kits. In the event your vehicle overheats and you find the stores or gas station closed, the water access that you pay for isn't working or you're on foot trying to make it home and don't have enough water to keep you hydrated especially in hot months. Many buildings, parks and transportation facilities have outside water access most people don't notice and usually a valve that requires a square key. The four-way silcock key makes it easier to access water due to potential varience in sizes. Here I had a few managed to acquire four liters of water from the side of a Shoping Center. I used this year's ago when my car overheated and pulled into a closed gas station and the water/air machine was down. Saw the spigot had a square on it instead of a handle wand was able to fill the radiator and go after patching the hose. I learned this technique from a homeless vet many years ago that I befriended. He taught me many things most would never imagine regarding urban survival. You can pick it up at any hardware store or online. #emergency #emergencypreparedness #shtf #shtfgear #bugoutbag #bob #ghb #gethomebag #edc #water #waterislife #hydrateordie #bushcraftandprepping #urban #urbanjungle #urbansurvival #homeless #urbanwarfare #survive #survival #prepper #preparedness #survivalist https://www.instagram.com/p/Ce14nbNv9mf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Welcome to the blog!
Please Get Involved!
As mentioned in the bio, I am a huge fan of survival scenarios but the media available is vastly pointed towards a US audience. Here in the UK, we are unable to buy a shitload of guns and ammo in our local supermarket! So I've dedicated this blog to the fight of our lives on this wee island of ours!

Useful Thing You Might Have Forgot To Buy
To start with, this is going to be items and details and tips for how to use every. I'm also saying this for the worst case scenario's, which is being locked inside our homes with now way to leave and the power and water being shut off.
Porta potty/Camping toilet. Now without water we can't use the faucets, toilets, showers, clothes washing machines, ect. I find a five gallon bucket with a toilet seat lid, which is buyable, is fantastic as a diy toilet, poor saw dust or baking soda in afterwards and it will dim the smell exponentially, or consider purchasing a camping toilet.
Shower Bag. These are fairly certain common, and surprisingly still stocked at my stores. They are 5 gallon bags used to hang in tree's, but cam be places in your shower when the water goes off. If you'd like to hear you water then I'd suggest...↓↓
Portable Propane Camping Stove. When the lights go out and the toaster, microwave, and oven stop working how are you going to heat all that canned food you bought? (PS! GET A HAND CAN OPENER) So I would suggest buying a camping stove that runs off propane. Fairly cheep and it works great, especially with frozen meats and veggies.
Washing Clothes Without Power? Go out and buy a storage tub without a lid, one big enough to do a small to medium load of laundry, and remember without water this will take a lot of water to do. You can fill the small plastic tub up instead of your large bathtub saving water. If you wanna get fancier you can buy what's called a Laundry Plunger which is exactly what it sounds like but it's a little different, they're fairly cheep also.
Speaking of WATER why isn't anyone buying water filters to hook onto your sink? We have running water now, let's take advantage of it. Get large containers suitable for storing water in, and fill them up, empty gallon jugs, empty bottles and tea pitcher's, fill them up now. The more you have the better.
Candles for light, flashlights, batteries, and solar powered flashlights.
Also get a Solar Powered Radio, it's pretty handy.
And finally, I want you all to remember one key rule to survive this with our sanity. That's value the people around you, whether that's your partner, your family, your roommates, value them. Because you'll need others to help maintain your own sanity, extended isolation isn't healthy, and we need was to cope. So go buy board games, or if you have a ton of board and card games like me, pull them outta the basement, storage, top of the close, ect. And enjoy your time with the people around you, remind yourselves that you are strong, you are not alone, and you will make it through this.
It's not going to be the end if we can keep it from being the end, but we have to keep being decent human being to pull through this, we have to remember all of us our hurting right now and the world doesn't need any more hurt, neither do the people. We can survive, we are strong, our ancestors made it through hard times, they struggled, they survived, we are built from generations that have survived deviation, it's built into our genetics now to be stronger and survive this. We as humanity Will survive we always have we always will. Be safe stay safe and I hope you and your families and your loved ones are okay right now.

End of the World Checklist
There are a handful of basic needs that must be covered in order for the average human being to survive.
1. Shelter Why is this the first thing on the list? Because exposure will kill you faster than hunger or thirst combined. Hypothermia sets in in a mater of minutes and death can occur in mere hours. Make certain that you have have/will have shelter or have some manner in creating shelter. Whether its a house you will still bein possession of or a tent or even a tarp you carry around. If you cant have those remember to include some tools (ax, folding saw, machete, etc) that would allow you to build a rudimentary shelter.
2. Water and Water Purification You need at least 1 Gallon of water per day. Obviously you cant carry a lifetime supply of water with you but some form of refillable water container is a must along with some method of water purification. That can be purifying tablets, a Life Straw or Sawyer Mini, some bleach, or even a scarf to strain it and a pot to boil it in. In general, a normal human can survive about 3 days without water but you wont want to operate while dehydrated.
3. Food and Food Acquisition Having at least 3 days worth of food in a bug out bag, and 3 months worth of food in a pantry is a great start. These reserves will serve you well and buy you time as you look for other methods of acquiring food. Some recommended methods are fishing, hunting, trapping, foraging, and farming. Store up on tools and equipment that will these methods easier. I would also recommend learning food preservation methods such as curing, drying, and canning.
4. Fire and Fire Making Fire is a precious and valuable tool. In colder climates its invaluable to keep you warmer and in al climates its will be necessary to cook food. You should have several, even redundant, fire making tools and techniques. Bic lighters, matches (normal or weatherproof), ferrocerium or magnesium rods, flint and steel, or some friction fire methods. Matches are cheap and easy to store and a large fero rod will last you for a very long time before they’re completely worn away. It’s also important to have plenty of fuel to burn or at least have access to fuel.
5. Defense With the three things listed above you will survive so long as nothing further goes wrong, but of course you can just assume nothing will go wrong. Indeed, if your storing away food and water and equipment you are likely preparing for something to go very wrong. But those around you may not be preparing. And what will you do when the desperate hungry masses come for your precious supplies? What will you do when they beat down your door and threaten you and/or your family? You will want to defend yourself, your family, and the resources you now depend on to live. How you choose to do this is your business, but I can say from experience that a firearm has very little equal.
6. Tools From simple multitools for your bug out bags and hand tools for your shelter, to specialized tools for mechanical work and farming, tools will make an enormous difference in your long term survival ability. You will be able to perform finer tasks, craft resources, build structures, and repair equipment.
7. First Aid and Medicinal Supplies A comprehensive home First Aid kit is very important even in our everyday lives. You should enough supplies to tend to simple scrapes and cuts but also the necessary equipment to sew stitches, open blocked airways, and dress deep wounds. Be sure to practice skills as well otherwise you may find yourself blowing through supplies rather quickly. It would also be a good idea to learn some old world medical techniques and perhaps even some herbal medicine. Be sure to also stock up on any special medications you may require. You may need more Pepto-Bismal than you imagine.

Let's Talk About The Difference In A Bug Out Bag/B.O.B. And A Get Home Bag/G.H.B.
Essentially, your big out bag is going to contain supplies to hopefully last you at least 72 hours, but have you ever heard of a get home bag? This is a lightweight day backpack or 24 hour bag. It should contain anything you would seem fit to get you home, and you probably guessed it right. This bag goes with you, everywhere. Because who's to say when disaster will strike? Most of us will probably be at work when a major event happens, and I feel it necessary to have a bag that's got enough prevision in it for yourself only for 24 hours. What if your trapped away from your home or safehouse when the SHTF? Here's what I have in mine
Enough water for myself to last 24 hours
Enough food for 24 hours
Flashlight
Extra batteries (optional but useful)
Well stock first-aid kit
Medium sized pocket knife with sawblade
Portable camping stove that uses a fuel block.
Lightweight camping dishes
One full extra set of clothes
Compass
Multitool
Binoculars
Matches and waterproof matches
Animal snare (optional)
Poncho
Reflective blanket/tent
Eye drops & feminine products because I am a woman
Walkie talkie so I can communicate to my family
Sharpie, Paper, Spray Paint
Bandana's
Mask
Pepper Spray
And probably a few other things I can't name immediately on hand, but I have ready. This bag stays in my car, my family keeps theirs in their vehicles as well, and if something ever happened and your stranded in the middle of nowhere in your car, you have supplies.
Better Prepared Than Scared
