Little Blue Eyes
Tumblr media
Summary: It wasn't rare that a pillar would be absent from a meeting, be it because of a mission or because they're recovering from injuries. What is rare however is for a pillar to be late to a meeting. So the other pillars were rightfully upset that Giyuu came later than he usually does. But they definitely weren't expecting the reasoning of why he was late, especially not the two extra pairs of blue eyes staring at them curiously.
Words: 3,8K words
Warnings: Minor spoilers for some pillar's backstories. Mentions of punching and Inosuke wanting to start a war with a three year old.

The sun was high in the sky. It was a bright day, the birds were singing and the clouds look extra poofy. The night before was a good one, well not entirely good, there were still demons roaming about. But last night not a single slayer died! What joy, and plenty of demons were slain. So why one earth-
"Where's Tomioka??"
Tomioka Giyuu, the water pillar, was late.
Well he wasn't technically late, the meeting wasn't going to start in another 15 minutes.
"Do you think he's on a mission?"
Mitsuri suggested, but the others weren't buying it.
"Even if he was on a mission don't you think he'll be back by now?" quizzed a certain snake from the tree.
To be fair Mitsuri's reasoning would be pretty understandable, they were pillars after all. They're almost always busy on missions. But the last time they heard him being on a mission was two weeks ago and since he didn't show up at the butterfly estate either, they pretty much assumed that he was perfectly fine after said mission.
The love pillar pouted, "Still, it's not like him to be late," she had a point.
While he wasn't the earliest pillar, he certainly wasn't the latest one either. Normally he would be standing in waiting around the garden as the other pillars chatted amongst themselves, sometimes Mitsuri or Kyojuro tried including him in their conversations but after a while of short answers they learn to just leave him alone.
"Doesn't he know how rude it is to come late?" Shinobu grumbled. "He must be slacking off at this point,"
Some of the other pillars nodded in agreement, it's been a while since they've even seen the water pillar. He was going on missions like the rest of them sure, but he always seemed to get less somehow. Shinobu swore he had less missions than he did a few years back, she barely even saw him around the demon slayer corps and much less outside of it.
"Don't say things like that Shinobu-chan, at least give him the benefit of the doubt! Maybe he ran into a demon," the love pillar tried again "It's not like he's purposely trying to be late"
"Doubt it," Sanemi scoffed.
Mitsuri bowed her head dejectedly, so the others quickly tried changing the subject.
"Do you think he has a life outside the corps?"
Muichiro questioned from his spot on the ground, his gaze was still focused on the clouds but his body language implied that he was in fact listening. And Mitsuri's eye glistens at the prospect, maybe he had a nice family! Or maybe a relative who was ill, oR maybe he could even have a s/o! Yes that would make sense on why he was late-
"HA! Him? As if, he barely has life inside the demon slayer corps-"
He was cut off when a pebble hit his face, enraged Sanemi looked around to find the culprit. Another pebble hit the back side of his head so he whipped around to face the glaring snake pillar dangling from the tree.
"WHY YOU LITTLE-"
"Pillars, Master Ubuyashiki has arrived"
Immediately the eight pillars kneeled before their master, and to Mitsuri's dismay, Giyuu still hadn't showed up yet.
"Good evening my children, what a wondrous day it is" He smiled softly as he gazed over all of the pillars. "It appears that one of the pillar isn't present yet,"
"Yes, I'm afraid Tomioka won't be joining todays meeting so it seems" It was almost baffling to see how Sanemi switched personalities in the presence of Ubuyashiki.
Oyakata-sama hummed in acknowledgement, the knowing look on his face made the pillars think there might a legitimate reason on why Giyuu was later then normal. "It is quite alright, he will be joining us nearing the end of our meeting,"
Low and behold he was right. Just as everyone finished giving their reports they heard footsteps approaching, but something sounded off. They were much too light to be Giyuu's, and they were quick ones as well. As if they person making them was trying to keep up with someone,,,
"Master Ubuyashiki, I apologies for arriving late to the meeting." Giyuu bowed, Sanemi and Obanai glared at the water pillar. How dare he come late to the meeting and expect to be forgiven so easily-
"Nonsense, there are no need for apologies my child. It was my request for you too bring Kiyoshi and Kimiko after all,"
Whowhatnow-
The pillars tried looking around for the two people Oyakata-sama mentioned but they spotted not one person in the garden besides Giyuu. It wasn't until they heard Mitsuri gasp did they finally see a small portion of bushy black hair hiding behind Giyuu's legs.
No
Way
"Go on, it's okay" they heard Giyuu softly coaxed the person standing behind him.
Their jaws all drop open involuntarily when a small boy shuffled out meekly. His bushy raven locks were tied back into a small pony tail —his hair was too short so it just looks like a small ball of fluff —and his big blue eyes that nearly popped off his face made him look even smaller.
He looked nervous as he fiddled with his small hands. Giyuu placed his hand on the boy's shoulder trying to calm him down, with a few more glances to Oyakata-sama to the pillars then back at Giyuu the boy finally spoke up.
"H-hello Master Ubuyashiki," his voice was so smol they could barely hear it. And it took Mitsuri every fibre in her being to stop herself from squealing, she had no idea who this child was but bOI WAS HE CUTE.
"Hello to you as well my child," the pillars all pried their eyes off of the small child when they heard their master laugh, "Kiyoshi, if i'm not mistaken, you've grown well it seems."
He looked around as if expecting another person, "Where is your sister?"
Sister?!!?!?!
"She spotted Tanjiro and his friends on our way here, I believe they're still playing chase" Oyakata-sama laughed once again and nodded in understanding.
"Of course, she will be joining us in a few minutes I presume?"
Giyuu opened his mouth to speak again, but he was cut of by a-
"OI SLOW DOWN"
It was then a small girl, who looks frighteningly similar to the boy and Giyuu, ran full speed into the garden. Her bright blue eyes met Sanemi's first, and he had to do a double take cause he swore she looked just like Giyuu, just smaller.
She immediately burst into a fit of giggles the moment she entered the garden, the sleeves on her water-lily patterned yukata was much too big so they envelope her arms as she swings them in the air happily. Seconds behind her, three boys — whom the pillars instantly recognise— crashed at the entrance falling in a heap.
Giyuu quickly picked up the giggling toddler and as he held her securely in his arms his lips curved gently into a smile, as if the pillars weren't shocked enough. The look on his face was so soft Shinobu thought she was hallucinating.
"How can you guys call yourself slayers when you let a girl out run you!" She said cheekily as she wiggled in Giyuu's arms to face the three boys laying on the ground.
"FIGHT ME TINY HAN-HAN BAORI THEN I'LL PROVE TO YOU MY STRENGTH"
"That's enough," before things could escalate further Giyuu placed his hand firmly on top of Inosuke's head, stopping him from declaring war on his daughter. "Go home, the three of you. You can continue playing later"
As Tanjiro profusely apologised for interrupting the meeting and forced Inosuke into a bow by holding him by the back of his head, Muichiro met the small girl's blue eyes. They were wide with curiosity, he however wasn't in the mood so he stuck his tongue out at her. To which she responded by doing the same.
"Hey, none of that," Giyuu lightly scolded, pinching the girl's nose as a gentle punishment.
She whined in protest, and at this point all the pillars who's mouths weren't open since the beginning definitely were now. Questions were running through the pillar's heads at the speed of light, never had they been this clueless about something happening right in front of them.
Their confusion was only broken when Oyakata-sama laughed again, the twins at his side had been narrating all that was happening since the little girl ran into the garden. "Ah, here is Kimiko I presume?"
"Yesh! I'm Kimiko," the girl, Kimiko apparently, chirped as she wiggled out of Giyuu's arms. The moment her feet touched the ground, she skipped over and grabbed the boy's hand. "It's nice to meet you!"
"It's nice to see you again my child," Oyakata-sama said softly. "How joyous it is to see that you and brother grown so well,"
It wasn't hard to tell that the two children were twins, they were practically identical. The only key difference was their personality it seems, Kimiko was bouncing on the heels of her feet while Kiyoshi — or at least Misturi thinks his name was Kiyoshi— glanced around the garden nervously, and when he met the stern gaze of the wind pillar he immediately shrunk back into Giyuu.
Noticing his timid boy grabbing onto the sleeve of his haori, Giyuu knelt down to ruffle their hair. "You and Miko can go play, don't leave the garden okay? Papa will be done in a minute,"
Obanai and Sanemi had to shake their heads, hearing Giyuu refer himself to "papa" felt like someone slapped them across the face. Mitsuri on the other hand couldn't keep quiet, she was doing the small internal screaming thing, the children were so cute. She couldn't help but flush.
As Kimiko ran off with her brother in tow, Giyuu took his place besides Himejima. It felt uncomfortable to have so many eyes following him so instead he switched his focus on his two children.
"Now, with all the pillars present, let's continue the meeting shall we?"
−○❖○❧ •❁※❁• ☙○❖○−
All the pillar bowed as Oyakata-sama exited, the meeting was over. Good. Now they could finally yell at the water pillar. Sanemi whipped his head to face the man at the end of the line, only to see that the two children had tackled him and are currently attacking him. With kisses.
"We missed youuu"
Both children chorused. Kimiko was on his back while Kiyoshi was snuggled comfortably in Giyuu's arms. Even when kneeling down Kimiko's legs were off the ground as she clung to him, she didn't seem to mind though, she had a blast hanging off his shoulders.
And what that a chuckle the pillar heard???
Low and behold it was, Shinobu could barely see it because his hair was covering a portion of his face, but it was there's a smile alright.
Maybe if he looked at the clouds they would be cubes instead, Mui thought. Not like that would be any weirder than the Tomioka Giyuu smiling and having children, twins no less.
Some how in a single motion, Giyuu manage to scoop up both children and set them in front of him. Kiyoshi, however, met with Sanemi's eyes again and he would've ran to hide behind Giyuu again if it weren't for Kimiko's hand holding his.
"Kimiko, Kiyoshi. Introduce yourselves to the pillars, they haven't met you before," Giyuu gave them a little nudge foward, Kimiko didn't need the encouragement however.
"Hello!!" The sleeve of her yukata flapped wildly as her waved to them "My name's Tomioka Kimiko! And this is my brother"
She tugged on her brother's hand motioning him to continue for her, "Uhm...Hi" The young boy said softly, his eyes flickering from the ground to the pillars and back again. "My name's Tomioka Kimi- nono w-wait,"
His face flushed red from embarrassment so he resolved to hiding it behind his tiny hands, they didn't do much considering that his hands were...well tiny.
Mitsuri couldn't help but coo at the small boy, he was soo cute. Kyojuro and Uzui were laughing their heads off, but quietly—since they felt somewhat bad, in their defence it was pretty funny. Even Kimiko thought so, currently giggling at her bother's misery. Oh she's never going to let him live this down.
Meanwhile, Giyuu was the only one not finding amusement in the mistake — well maybe a little, but his baby was upset and that's more important at the moment. He squeezed the young boy's shoulders, trying to reassure him.
After a few minutes of Giyuu whispering encouragement Kiyoshi tried again, "H-hi My name's Tomioka Kiyoshi. not kimiko" he said the last part quietly but the pillars heard him just fine.
"Yayyy" Kimiko cheered and clapped for her brother. It was more teasing then actual praise, and he knew it too. So he reached out to pinch her cheek in revenge, luckily for Kimiko she was quick enough to catch his hand and held it instead.
"We're three!" Kimiko proudly announced, holding up a two fingers instead. Noticing her mistake, Kiyoshi nudged her then pointed at her fingers before lifting up three fingers of his own. She puffed her cheeks and her eyebrows furrowed, she swore that was right, looking at her fingers again.
"We're two!" She decided, still holding up her two fingers. Her brother sighed and shook his head, "We're three Kimiko"
Mitsuri and Kyojuro had matching puffed up cheeks, they really wanted to laugh but they didn't want to upset the twins.
Don't laugh don't laugh
Mitsuri reminded herself.
Kimiko took it upon herself to find out every pillar's names and say hi to them, and poor Kiyoshi — who just wanted to take a nap in his papa's arms— was dragged along with her.
One by one, she and Kiyoshi walked up to a pillar and asked for their names. The first was Obanai, because he was at the end of the line, immediately they took notice to Kabukamaru. Who was just as curious as the twins, the snake slid off of Iguro's shoulders slightly and hissed at them softly. Delighted Kimiko hissed back while sticking her tongue out, which surprised Obanai but thankfully for him, his bandages covered the small smile he had on.
Moving to the next pillar-
oh oh
Kiyoshi was terrified, because next to the snake pillar was the wind pillar. Sanemi glared down at the two young children in front of him.
He didn't mean to be glaring
It was just how he reacted, the two reminded him of his younger siblings. For a split second he thought he saw a young Genya standing in place where Kiyoshi was.
Shaking his head, the vision of Genya disappeared and it was just the twins standing in front of him again. He scoffed but bent down slightly — Giyuu was watching closely incase something were to happen.
"Cute kid Tomioka," he said offhandedly while pinching Kiyoshi's cheek. Who was startled at how gentle it was, even Kimiko pinched him harder then this.
They quickly moved to the next pillars which were the butterfly, sound and mist pillar. Who all gave the twins head pats or ruffled their bushy locks of raven hair, save Muichiro who just stuck his tongue out at Kimiko again. She would have done it right back but she knew her dad would pinch her nose again, so she changed her mind she did it anyways.
"Nice ribbon you're wearing, very flamboyant!"
Uzui remarked. It was true, Kimiko was indeed wearing a red ribbon in her hair. Her mommy had tied it in for her this morning, she didn't have much hair just yet so it was just tied into a small ponytail like her brother. Both however look more like fluff from a rabbit's tail.
Last were the flame, love and stone pillar. Mitsuri immediately scooped them into her arms, she was waiting all this time to squish their chubby cheeks.
"oooo look at youuu, you're so cute and you are tooo" she cooed as the twin took turns getting their cheeks smushed by the love pillar.
As it was Kiyoshi's turn, Kimiko took interest in her bright pink and green hair. "You have very pretty hair miss love pillar,"
"Oh? Thank you very much~" she chirped while putting her hands together. "Who did your hair? It look very pretty too,"
Without skipping a beat she proudly said, "My mommy did it! She did Kiyoshi's hair too!" pointing her her brother's and her own hair with vigour.
Immediately everyone's heads turn to Giyuu, it completely went over their heads that he must have a wife as well. What they were expecting was him just standing there deadpan look and all, but just like everything else that was happening today — they were proven wrong.
Between the twins excitement by the mere mention of their mother to Giyuu's obviously fond look and relaxed shoulders, it was easy for the pillars to guess that who ever married Giyuu was loved beyond belief. And who ever this women is, Mitsuri wanted to meet her.
"YOU HAVE A WIFE?! AND TWO CHILDREN AND NEVER BOTHERED TO MENTION IT?! NOT ONCE,"
'Finally someone said it,' Shinobu thought.
Sanemi's screaming, no matter how much it voiced the pillar's thoughts, scared the two children. Whom immediately ran to hide behind their dad.
Kneeling down, he gladly welcomed them into his waiting arms. "Please don't shout, Kimiko and Kiyoshi get startled easily" he said patting their small heads.
To that, Uzui smacked Sanemi upside his head which only angered the wind pillar further.
"Tomioka~ Did you not bother telling us you have children? Or are you just that forgetful," Giyuu resisted the urge to roll his eyes at Shinobu's prodding.
"No one asked,"
It was her turn to resist the urge to smack him as the water pillar shrugged, but the twins were snugly tucking into his side so she'll save that for another day.
"So sorry for Shinzugawa's outburst little ones, he won't scare you again,"
Kyojuro tried to reason with them, but Kiyoshi could see the wind pillar trying to throw punches at Tengen — which Kyojuro was actively trying to hide from their field of view — and it didn't really give him high hopes that he wasn't going to yell again.
Kimiko on the other hand was already skipping over to Mitsuri and Shonibu, she wanted to see if they could teach her how to braid hair. To braid mommy's hair of course, but maybe she'll try some hairstyles on her dad if he would let her (He would).
"Kiyoshi," said toddler met his father's eyes, which were a mirror image of his own. "Are you sure you don't want to play with Kimiko?"
He thought about it for a minute, on one hand they were teaching her how to braid hair and he really wanted to braid his mommy's hair and make her happy, but on the other hand,,, he could sleep soundly in his papa's arms. Safe and sound.
After about a minute he made his decision and shook his head, choosing to latch on to his fathers haori for a nice nap and cuddles. He could ask Kimiko how to braid hair later anyways, now was nap time.
−○❖○❧ •❁※❁• ☙○❖○−
"Sooo, how was the meeting?"
(Y/N) asked her husband, who was getting a new hair style — curtesy of their little girl.
"It went fine," he said eating another piece of salmon, Giyuu wouldn't mind just staying in this moment for the rest of his life.
His beloved (Y/N) was sitting a few paces away with their son in her arms, they were singing a nursery rhyme she had made up on the fly. Her hair was in a bit of a mess considering the fact that Kimiko had just learned how to braid hair — speaking of their little princess.
She was happily using the techniques Mitsuri showed her that morning to braid Giyuu's hair, all the while singing with her brother and mother. He could already feel the tangles forming in his hair but it was fine, as long as little Kimiko was happy. Besides it gave him even more excuse to let (Y/N) brush them out later.
"Tada! All done, you look so pretty papa!" Kimiko beamed, proud of her work. "Doesn't he mommy?"
She looked up from Kiyoshi to see what kind of mess Kimiko manage to tie Giyuu's hair into, oh dear —
"It looks lovely dear,"
Giyuu knew, from the moment she started giggling, that his hair was indeed a mess. There were probably ribbons of all sorts of colours thrown in randomly, and with the amount of lose hair he could feel there was bound to be fly aways.
"Come on sit down Kimiko you haven't finished your daikon yet, little miss" (Y/N) chirped and she pinched Kimiko's nose softly.
Setting down Kiyoshi as well she stood up to sit next to Giyuu.
"Don't you look pretty yuu~" She teased running her fingers through his messy locks.
"Is it that bad," Giyuu whispered as to not alert their little stylist.
"Uhmm," (Y/N) grinned sheepishly, her head tilting as her eyes searched his hair and face.
Only to furrow her eyebrows when she noticed all the rice grains sticking to his handsome face, scoffing, she rolled eyes without malice as she picked up the napkin on the table.
"You're so messy Giyuu," she said smiling. "I swear I have to clean your face more then our twins,"
The water pillar pouted and tried to move away from her but to that she responded by plopping down on his lap. It's been years since he first met her but she still managed to make his heart race just as fast.
His blue eyes followed her face, committing every detail he could to memory. It was easy to assume that the twins were an exact replica of him but he would say otherwise. The bushy raven locks and blue eyes might overpower their other features but their cheeks, their nose, their faces, just everything about them was all (Y/N).
Every time he looked at his precious twins all he saw in them was his beloved wife, (Y/N). He won't ever say it out loud but one of the reasons why he loved making them so happy was because they got their mother's smile, the one he fell in love with in the first place.
He was brought back to earth when he felt a kiss on the corner of his mouth.
"There all done," she sang happily with her hand on his cheeks. Unsatisfied he leaned in to steal an actual kiss on the lips.
(Y/N) felt him smile into the kiss, causing her to giggle and pull away. He watch with gleaming eyes as she continued to laugh with a pretty blush spreading across her face, in the corner of his eye he could see Kiyoshi cheering his sister on as she shoves all the vegetables in her mouth to get it over with quicker.
God he loved them all so much.

Giyuu x lightning pillar! reader part two electric boogaloo
Tumblr media
Summary: Pillars were very busy people, you and Giyuu are no exception. But you two have some,,,self appointed responsibilities, four of them be specific. Looking back all the way from your mission at Natagumo mountain to when you basically become a parent to the Kamaboko squad. Yup, all four of them.
Words: 3.4K words
Warnings: Typical canon violence, mentions about injuries and stitches.
Gender neutral reader!

The lightning pillar was known to be a force to be reckoned with
You were considered one of the strongest pillars because of your amazing speed and agility
Dozens of slayers who have seen you in battle always claimed that you would take the demon out faster then they could draw their own blade
There's a rumour going on that since you slay demons so fast no one has seen what colour your nirichin blade is
it's yellow, and you would gladly show them if they had just asked but since it was fun to watch them speculate you just let them be
You were a role model to younger slayers not only because of your sheer strength, but because of how sunny your personality was
The light in your eyes never gave out no matter how tough the mission was, and so you quickly became a role model and also a substitute parent of the demon slayer corp
But you weren't just the substitute parent for the younger slayers, you and Giyuu were specifically the parents of a group of four children
The kamaboko squad
You met tanjirou and nezuko first out of the four
You were there with Giyuu when he found the pair after all
It made you sad to see that only two of the family were still alive, but you quickly put your guard up when the girl turned out to be a demon
You were so close to unsheathing your blade and slay her as quick as possible, but then you saw that the girl wasn't attacking
"Yuu, the girl's not attacking did you see- giyuu?"
Looking at your left where your boyfriend should be you were met with more snow and trees
And he's gone
So that's how you met Tanjiro and Nezuko, not the best of first impressions but you met them
You were confused when he tried throwing stones and then charging at the both of you, it didn't do much but at least he tried aH-
The axe was inches from your head
Damn did it gave you a heart attack, good thing you were able to move out of the way quick enough
After Giyuu knocked Nezuko out, you both decided that the best option was too send them over to Urokodaki
And so that was that, after warning Tanjiro to not let her set foot under the sun you both promptly left
You really wanted to help more, but you trust that Urokodaki knew what to do
Years later, you wondered how they were doing
Urokodaki said that Tanjiro had passed his final selection (to your relief) but you wondered where were the duo now
That question was soundly answered when you, Giyuu and Shinobu were sent over to Natagumo mountain
Must have been at least a lower moon, you thought, why would three pillar be on the same mission otherwise-
Is that sparrow trying to tell you something?
Ah well no going back now then guess your following the sparrow
And that's how you and Shinobu found Zenitsu
You were quiet impressed that he could take out one of the spider demons, maybe you could take him up as your tsuguko,,,
but now wasn't time to think about that
since he was poisoned you left Shinobu to it, while she specialised more in poisons you worked better with a scalpel and thread
In your spare time you would help Shinobu around the butterfly estates, when you aren't on missions or with Giyuu that is
That's where you meet your fourth child
Inosuke
He was brought over to the butterfly estate after the mission was over and you were tasked to clean up his wounds
But back to the actual mission
You came across Giyuu and the Kamado siblings just as the lower moon was defeated
Thank goodness that's over, now all you need to do is to deal with Shinobu
what?
hold on where is shinobu
eEK-
Maybe it wasn't a good idea to leave Shinobu alone, since now you and Giyuu were chasing her down before she could do anything to the Kamado siblings
"Shinobu please listen-"
"Ara Ara~ Since when were you such a rule breaker (Y/N)-chan~ You know we're suppose to slay demons not protect them right?"
You and Shinobu were hoping on tree branches while Giyuu was following from the ground. She may have gotten a head start but you were quickly gaining ground on her, maybe if you just jumped a little bit forward you could reach her.
Ah to late Giyuu already got her, you really didn't want it to come to the point where you had to restrain Shinobu. Gracefully you jump of the branch and land next to your boyfriend and your sister figure who's currently restrained. Boy were you going to get an ear full after this is done, from Shinobu and the other pillars. Mostly Shinobu but that's besides the point.
"Will you listen now nobu?"
You coaxed gently, bending down to meet her eyes.
"Did Tomioka brought you into this (Y/N)? I knew he was a bad influence"
Your boyfriend did not look impressed, stifling a chuckle you stood straight.
"I'm really sorry Shinobu-chan,"
"Hm~"
"Nobu,,,what are you-"
Her knife-shoes were millimetres away from Giyuu's face before a Kasugai crow interrupted. When on earth did she have knife in her shoes?
"I'm going to hope that you weren't actually got to put a knife in my boyfriend's face if that crow didn't stop you,"
"Hm~"
"Right Shinobu?"
"I mean it would be an improvement~"
"shinOBU"
Was the conversation you had with her during the walk back
And didn't even compare to the nagging you got when you two arrived at the butterfly estate
But there were more pressing matters at hand, and that's Tanjiro's trial
Technically you and Giyuu were suppose to be on trial too, but the other pillars refused to find you guilty
Much less actually think about beheading you, how could they do that to their ray of sunshine?
So imagine their worry and dread when they heard you would commit seppuku if Nezuko were to ever harm someone
oh and Giyuu too they guess
Shinobu and Mitsuri nearly smacked Sanemi's nirichin blade out his hand when he goaded Nezuko into attacking him
Well more like Shinobu nearly did, but Mitsuri was just as worried. they really cared about you after all
However when Nezuko turned away from Sanemi
bOY were you proud
Now that you've met all of you future children
It time for some shenanigans
Since you were Shinobu's helper at times around the butterfly estate you helped out with their recovery process
By help, i mean you just hop in some times re-applying bandages that fell off or replacing stitches that they manage to pull out
With the few minutes you spend with the kamaboko squad you already grew attached
How could you not with a kid as sweet as Tanjiro
Well save the times where Zenitsu tried flirting with you, which while you found it cute, your boyfriend did not
If looks could kill then the boy would be dead ten times over
Funnily enough that wasn't the way they found out you and Giyuu were dating
They found out when they had stumbled upon you two relaxing by the pond near you and Giyuu's estate
Giyuu's head was in you lap looking up at you with gleaming eyes, it was rare for the both of you to be alone together. And he wouldn't want to spend it any other way then laying by your little pond with your fingers running through his hair.
"Watcha lookin at Yuu?"
He could vaguely hear you ask. What was he looking at he wondered. He was looking at so many things at the same time after all, his eyes were tracing over all over your features, from the curve of your cheeks to the slope of your jaw. The sun high in the sky made a halo like light behind you, making you glow brighter than you already were before. So there was really only one answer.
"You,"
Ah, there was your ever straight forward boyfriend. You could feel your face heating up, damn was he going to be the death of you. Looking away quickly you tried not to meet his eyes, if you did then you would only get more flustered. Ugh but you couldn't help meet his eyes again.
And down the rabbit hole you went, from his pretty blue eyes you studied his face carefully. Drinking in all of his beauty before you or him were to be pulled away for another mission. He looked drowsy from the pain killers he just took after you had to give him some stitches. His cheeks looked extra soft to the touch and his hair was all messed up after how many times you ran your fingers through his raven locks.
"Stop being so cute yuu~ I don't think my heart can take anymore"
You whined as you squished both hands on his cheeks, watching them turn a pretty shade of red before pressing soft kisses all over his face. There definitely was nothing like spending the day alone with your beloved, nothing but you, him and the cool summer breeze-
"(Y/N)-SAN!! GIYUU-SAN!?"
Ah well-
There goes your alone time. You turned your head to meet the kamaboko squad face-to-face, it's been a couple of months since the mission at Natagumo mountain so it was about time they finally notice that you two were dating.
"EEH?!?! HOW DID TOMIOKA GET (Y/N)-CHAN TO DATE HIM FIRST?!? THAT'S NOT FAIR"
Your said boyfriend groaned and you had to stifle a giggle, he may be upset that your along time was cut short but there was no denying how cute he looked pouting up at you.
"What's dating? Is it like mating?!"
Choking on air you felt your face heat up, and in the distance you could hear the other two boys screaming at Inosuke. Scratch that, Zenitsu was yelling at Inosuke, Tanjiro was trying to explain the concept of dating to him, bless his soul.
"Can we just run back inside and hope they don't notice?"
Giggling you flicked his forehead lightly, you could already tell this was going to be a bumpy ride, but a fun one nonetheless.
You were already babying them even before they found out about you and Giyuu
So imagine their surprise when they realised that their parent figure who was all sunshine and positivity was dating the one and only water pillar
Who Inosuke swore was just a talking statue
Tanjiro was the only one in the trio who was unfazed by it since, well he did know you two were an item even before he became a slayer
It was clear as day your affection to one another, he could smell it in the air whenever you were together
Zenitsu on the other hand,,was not buying it
No way could the emotionless statue get a s/o before he did
Especially not one as sweet and caring as you
But he really couldn't deny it for long, not when he could hear your heart race when ever you meet Giyuu's eyes
and vice versa
After getting over the initial shock everyone seems to go through when they found out you and Giyuu were a couple
They quickly became your adoptive children
All four of them just got so used to you treating them as your children that they soon just welcomed themselves into you and Giyuu's home
Not that you would ever deny their visits, somehow always ready with some snacks or even a full meal for them to eat
And if they visit while you were on a mission Giyuu would take your place, they barely even realised you weren't the one cooking
It wasn't until one day you came home after a mission in the middle of their visit
They all whipped their heads to your boyfriend so quickly that you were concerned of possible whiplash
Even under their questioning gaze Giyuu just stood their as stoic as ever
It was from that day on, every time they came over and find food on the table waiting for them
They would pop their heads into the kitchen to see if it was really you or Giyuu just taking your place, not that they would refuse the food if Giyuu had made it of course
His cooking was just as good as yours, but they were biased and always preferred your cooking over your boyfriend's
Giyuu did too so he didn't really took offence to it
After their meal, depending on what time of day it was, the boys would go out in front of your estate and train
Often times it was Giyuu who was dragged along to train them
Mostly because they didn't want to bother nor hurt you in any way
Well, maybe except Inosuke, he still wanted to fight you
You beat him every time but like that's going to stop him any time soon
However if given the option, they would gladly pick you to train them over your boyfriend
One because their biased and love you dearly
Two because you go easy on them
The second one is really only just Zenitsu's reasoning, he nearly collapsed after training with Giyuu for a day
If it was nearing sun set or if they were too tired to train then you would get out some old board games or the excessive amount of blankets that you own and let them make a pillow fort to sleep in for the night
Nezuko normally took over the fort and was the only actually sleeping in it
While the boys slept out side with spare futons they manage to save from the pile
Some times if you weren't busy you would join in on the blanket for making process
If you're lucky you can maybe coax Giyuu into joining you, but that was on rare occasions
But what were you doing if your boys were out training?
Spend time with Nezuko of course!
It's either you and her would be in the kitchen whipping up another snack incase the other would get hungry after training (which was almost always the case)
Or she would be in your lap while you played around with her hair, you were used to doing Giyuu's hair so playing around with Nezuko's longer hair just meant more hairstyles you could do
More often or not Tanjiro would step aside from training to braid his sister's hair with you
Sometimes you get to comb or tie Inosuke's hair too, he gets jealous sometimes so if he pushes Nezuko aside after you were done please pay attention to him
After a long day of training, your four children fall asleep on the floor of their pillow fort, Nezuko being the only one actually sleeping inside it, but that's besides the point
So before heading to bed yourselves, you and Giyuu would tuck the boys in and make sure no one was left without a blanket
And so it was a nice cycle that repeats, on some occasions the kids would help you and Giyuu around the house
Tanjiro being the most helpful at times, scolding the other two to actually help you rather then bickering with each other
It was very amusing to watch them trying to fold the blankets and tidy up their pillow fort
Nonono, it was very amusing to watch Inosuke and Zenitsu fight over how to actually fold the blankets while Tanjiro, bless his soul, was actually doing the task at hand
Tanjiro was the only one allowed to make lunch or dinner with you, only snacks were allowed for Zenitsu and Inosuke
If you thought you and Giyuu were messy when you were cooking together, then you haven't seen the actual storm that was Inosuke and Zenitsu cooking together
No work would get done, even if you had somehow made some food in the midst of the wreckage then it would be gone the moment you turn your back
So now only Tanjiro, and Nezuko if she wanted to help, was allowed to be in the kitchen with you and Giyuu
He found it really endearing to see you and Giyuu playfully splash water or toss ingredients at each other while he and Nezuko made some rice balls in the corner
Now you were also the personal nurse of not only Giyuu but the three slayers as well
Each time they came back after missions with new scratches and wounds, you would clean them up in a blink of an eye
Not without a light scolding of course, reminding them to actually head to the butterfly estate to make sure there weren't any infections or poisons you couldn't treat
Giyuu isn't safe from these scoldings either, he picked up a bad habit of just heading home instead of going to the butterfly estate to get medical treatment
So you were adamant on the fact that the three boys shouldn't make it a habit too
But no matter how much time they spend with you in your own estate, they would never get used to you actually showing PDA with Giyuu
Whenever you would peck Giyuu on the cheek or even just hug him they would always avert their eyes to anywhere but the two of you
Don't get them wrong, it wasn't like they dislikes your relationship with Giyuu
They really did look up to you as parental figures, both you and Giyuu
No matter how closed of Giyuu seems, they still did look up to him
They looked up to your relationship too, Zenitsu even tried asking you advice on how to get into a relationship like yours
He thought of asking Giyuu but quickly realise that asking you might be a better option
But they never will get used to PDA, it was so weird since they never saw you and Giyuu this mushy any where outside your home
Your relationship with the four children became such a normal thing you forgot some times that weren't actually your's and Giyuu's children
"INOSUKE PLEASE DON'T HIT ZENISU WITH THAT"
Immediately he lowered the wooden swords they used for training, taking his chance Zenitsu quickly ran as far from Inosuke as possible. You couldn't keep him at bay forever, but Giyuu taking away the wooden sword from Inosuke's hand certainly insured him safety, for now at least.
You watched as your boyfriend scolded him lightly, telling him not to act so recklessly with a swords. Even if it's just a wooden one. In your peripheral vision you could see Tanjiro hanging up some sheets with Sumi, Kiyo, and Naho. It was a nice day to visit the butterfly estate, and now that you've finished all your tasks Nezuko happily hummed in your lap as you continued to braid ribbons in her hair.
"Good evening (Y/N)-chan~"
"Oh! Good evening Shinobu-chan"
Your sister figure sat down next to you and Nezuko, with two tea cups in hand. Passing you one before taking a sip from her own.
"Thank you Nobu,"
"Don't mention it!~"
Setting down your tea cup you finished of Nezuko's braid with one final ribbon, in the distance you could make out Inosuke challenging your boyfriend once again to a rematch. Which he soundly loss after a few seconds.
"There you go, all done Nezuko!"
She quickly stood up, chirping happily to get her brother's attention so she could show off her new hairstyle. But then Kanao and Aoi walked in and suddenly she decided that she would show off to them first, before rushing over to the two she turned around gave you a quick hug in thanks.
Her hair tickled your cheek as she nuzzled into your side and you giggled she ran off to Kanao and Aoi.
"Ara Ara~ You suit the parent role well (Y/N)-chan"
"Huh?"
"Look at you, you and Tomioka practically adopted four children,"
Shinobu smiled cheekily. Maybe she did have a point, looking around you watched your little family interact with each other. Inosuke was on the ground demanding another rematch with your boyfriend, Zenitsu and Tanjiro were hanging up bed sheets with the triplets, and lastly Nezuko was getting head pats from Kanao praising her for the new look.
"Huh, i guess we did"
It wasn't so bad actually. Smiling you glanced around again at your beloved and adopted children. Family was a good look on all of you.

'And everytime you proved him wrong'
Tumblr media
Pairing: T.Giyuu x reader
Summary: Giyuu dropped the flowers, meant for you, and walked away, but what happens if you catch him before he leaves?
Words: 4.1K words
Warnings: None. Just some fluff to soothe the angst. Or attempted angst really. Minor remaining angst, but nothing as concentrated as the last one. This wasn't proof read! Beware!
Female reader!
a/n: this is technically a part 2 or alternate ending to this requested post! 'Everytime he felt undeserving of your love', so please read that one first, or else this beginning portion and the summary will not make sense.
Tumblr media
His feet felt heavy as he dragged them across the wooden floors of your estate.
'He didn't deserve you. He didn't deserve you. He didn't deserve you.'
That singular thought echoed through his brain no matter how much he tried pushing it out, the more he tried it just came back louder. Giyuu bit his lip, they almost bled at the amount of pressure he was putting on them, but the pain of his lips being shredded distracted him from his thoughts.
By the time he reached the front doors he could taste iron on his tongue, the tang of his blood matched the searing pain he felt in his chest. His heart was pounding so sharply it felt as if a sword was being stabbed through his chest.
Silently, he apologised to his heart for being in such pain because of him.
Giyuu sighed right after. Even his own body was suffering because of him, there really was something wrong with him. Guess he really was that much of a let down-
"GIYUU-SAN!"
Hairs on the back of his neck stood up straight, as did his neck and back. He hated how foreign your voice calling his name sounded now.
Turning around with one feet out the door he spotted you, standing in the hallway he just shuffled pitifully down. Looking you up and down, Giyuu spotted something in your hands.
A bouquet of buttercups and snowbells.
A few minutes ago...
Hearing something drop on the floor you stopped and turned around, catching a glimpse of messy raven locks and a burgundy sleeve. Giyuu!
There was nothing stopping the grin forming on your face, it's been so long since he visited your estate. You and Giyuu used to head back to one of your estates together after missions or pillar meetings, but lately things were different. He barely looked your way, let alone visit you at home. But looks like he finally came around to say hi.
In you excitement you hurriedly jumped up and rushed to the open corridor.
Remembering that your student was probably very confused with your abrupt departure, you quickly turned around and excused your self. Hearing their laughter behind you, you continued down the hall. With a skip in your step you almost didn't notice the bundle of flowers on the floor.
Almost.
Just as your foot was about to step on the small bouquet, you noticed it in the nick of time. Coming to a screeching halt before you could crush the poor flowers.
'Huh?'
You were confused, the bundle was made of buttercups and snowbells both very lovely, however, no one besides the pillars knew of your favourite flowers. So it must have been from Giyuu. But then why did he just leave them in the middle of the hallway?
Something wasn't right.
Listening to the unsettling feeling in your gut, you picked up pace and sprinted down the halls of your estate. Maybe he was heading to your study room? You usually have tea with him there. But if he didn't call out to you, maybe he was heading to the kitchen to prepare said tea?
All the possible places of where he could be flashed in your head. Kitchen? Study room? Guest room?
In you haze of trying to find where he was you rushed pass the front doors, only to dig your heels into the wooden floor boards. There he was! Heading out the door? Why would he be leaving? You didn't even get the chance to thank him for the flowers yet!
"GIYUU-SAN!"
And that brought you back to the present.
The water pillar stood staring with wide eyes, as you were trying to catch your breath. Who knew navigating your own house could be so tiring?
"Giyuu-san!"
He nearly flinched but his body didn't move, not even when you jogged up to him. Thoughts commanding him to turn around again, to go and leave before you say anything else. But he didn't. His feet didn't move from their place, planted to the floor.
"Thank gods I caught up to you in time!" you grinned, oblivious to the war that was going on in Giyuu's head. "It's been so long since I've seen you, how have you been?"
Ignore her. Ignore her. Just walk away, you'll save her the torture of talk to you-
"I'm doing well, how are you?"
For the first time in weeks, Giyuu went against what his head was telling him, and he couldn't be happier that he did. Watching your surprised look change morph into a wide grin was well worth the raging thoughts yelling back at him.
"I'm doing great! A little bit tired but doing great nonetheless." Just as you finished your sentence a light bulb went off. "Would you like to stay for lunch Giyuu-san? It's been so long since I've talked to you."
Staying over for lunch? He really wanted to say yes, but. Giyuu looked away, trying to organise his thoughts.
"Don't you have a guest over (Y/N)-san?"
Yes that's right, you had someone over. He didn't want to barge in and ruin your day. His gaze met yours, surprising you once again. You thought for sure he was going to walk away, just like he's done for the past weeks, guess today's different.
"Oh! The person I was talking to in the courtyard?" Giyuu nodded as you tilted your head in question. "That was my student, they were just coming over to train. They'll be leaving soon though."
"I see,"
There was a pause, both of you looked around the room awkwardly. Not really knowing what to say, it's been a while since you've talked after all. The water pillar silently curses at himself for causing the rift in your friendship in the first place.
But before he could get to far into his self degrading-
"Soo, would you like to stay for lunch Giyuu-san?" you hinted, motioning to the study room where you two usually ate with your shoulder.
Say no. Say no. Say no. You don't deserve it.
"I would love too,"
With a simple sentence your eyes lit up,
"Great! I uh-" flattering, you quickly coughed to fixed your tone so you didn't seemed too excited. "Great, I already prepared lunch and there's just enough for two of us. Just wait in the study room, I'll bring the food there."
Giyuu nodded, since his mouth seemed incapable of talking. With another smile sent his way you turned around and started walking over to the kitchen, when he suddenly remembered something.
"(Y/N)-san!"
He received a hum in acknowledgement, but as mentioned before, his mouth seemed incapable of forming actual sentences.
"Could we-" faltering, he tried changing his words. "Could you? I uh"
"Yeah?" you coaxed gently, it wasn't the first time Giyuu had trouble explaining something to you. There was a reason he was more talkative in letters, he could actually think his words over before he says them.
"Could you,,show me the koi pond you were talking about? I just thought" His hand flew up to scratch the back of his neck out of instinct. "It would be nice,,if we could eat there instead?"
"Of course! That sounds lovely Giyuu-san, come on." You waved your hand, gesturing him to follow you to the kitchen. "Let's get our food then I'll show you the pond! You'll just love the fish there, they're all gorgeous. Oh! There's one with a little heart on their head! And-"
There you go, rambling on to him about all the fishes in the pond. He's heard it before already in you letter, but Giyuu didn't have the heart to tell you that. He's enjoying hearing you talk too much to think about that, his eyes focusing entirely on you and nothing else. In fact, he was so busy paying attention to you, that he didn't even notice that all his thoughts have stilled.
A calm has finally settled in the swirling storm that was his thoughts, but he was so invested in you that he didn't even pay mind to it.
Maybe he could be selfish just this once.
Tumblr media
"That was so much fun! I hope you can come back for lunch some time soon Giyuu-san!"
You said as the two of you reached the front doors of your estate, it's been a good four or five hours since he's arrived and they went by so quickly. Wishing you had more time you stood by the door frame and waved good bye to Giyuu, who was already stepping down from the engawa.
"(Y/N)-san," He started, his back still facing you. "Thank you,"
Then your heart stopped.
Just as he continued, he had turned back to look at you. Unwittingly stealing your breath away and sending you to cloud nine. The smile sitting on his lips may be the most beautiful thing you've seen, it didn't matter how small the smile was, he was simply the most breath-taking thing on earth with that smile on his face.
"I had fun too,"
Nothing came out of your lips but a croak "yeah", you'll feel embarrassment hitting you later, but right now all you could focus on was him and the smile that was already slipping off his face.
With a bow of his head, Giyuu turned to walk back home. But before he could leave, a hand grasped his. Turning around with wide eyes he met yours, you were just as surprised as he was. Running after him on complete instinct.
"I- Giyuu-san," You hesitant for just a moment before looking up at him with a smile. "Thank you for the flowers, I love them."
Feeling his hand being held in yours felt so right, like he was meant to hold your hand. The side of his head was still arguing with him but he couldn't care right now, not when he can feel the warmth emitting from your palms.
"Your welcome,"
Tumblr media
"GIYUU! GIYUU! LOOK LOOK!"
Lights lit up the night, and the noise from chattering people surrounded you both.
But it made sense why it was so crowded, tonight was the firework festival after all. It was the sole reason Giyuu took you here tonight for your first date. While big crowds may make him uncomfortable, he knew how much you were looking forward to seeing the fireworks.
And so he took his chances and ask you on a date. Albeit he wasn't as smooth as he wished to be, there were plenty of stuttering and nervous ticks coming from both sides. Eventually though he manage to ask you out, and of course you said yes! Though Giyuu was still nervous of the possibilities of you saying no.
That didn't matter now however. What did matter was the fact that he couldn't feel your hand in his any more.
Looking at his now empty hand, it took a moment for his brain to register the fact that you were gone. But when it finally did click the water pillar started frantically searching the crowds, where did you go?? Weren't you just calling his name a few minutes ago??
A few minutes go by, and news flash; you were still missing.
Goddammit where did you go? He scanned the crowds, looking for you (f/c) yukata or maybe the flower pin he gave you before the festival. Finding nothing, his eyes flickered nervously back and forth, maybe if he looked again you would suddenly appear in the crowd?
Did you leave him? No that didn't sound like something you would do. But what if you finally realised that you could've done better than him?
Shaking his head, the water pillar rubbed his face. He really hoped they would shut up for just one night, his thoughts did quiet down when he started re-building the friendship he somewhat lost with you over the last few months. But no, they just had to come back tonight, where he should've been enjoying his time with you.
And now you were lost and they won't shut up-
"Giyuu?"
Sucking air between his teeth, Giyuu whipped his head to look behind him. Low and behold there you were, staring innocently up at him, holding two sesame seed covered treats in your hands. He let out a sigh of relief as his shoulders sag,
"Where did you go (Y/N)? I was so worried-"
He was cut off when you held up one of the snacks to his lips, making a noise telling him to open his mouth. Sending you a confused look, he complied anyways and took a bite.
The flavour of red bean flooded his taste buds, it was sweet but hot. Taking the snack out of your hands so you could eat your own, he looked back at the sesame seed ball in his hand.
Ah, you got goma dango.
Giyuu's eyes flicked back to you just as you were about to take a bite, "Careful, it's still hot."
He tried to warn, but it was already too late. You immediately started yelping when the hot red bean paste hit your tongue, keeping on chewing anyways cause it was delicious but Giyuu stared at you incredulously. Wondering why on earth would you take such a big bite when you knew it was just fried.
"Why would you do that?" He puzzled, looking down at where you buried your head in his chest. As if that'll help soothe the heat.
A series of noises that sounded like whines and whimpers answered him, sighing Giyuu took another bit of his own snack while patting your head. Although he was mindful to blow on it before eating, not wanting to burn his tongue as you did.
In the few minutes you were eating, a few more head pats were given out by Giyuu because you kept pouting. So to insure you didn't hurt yourself this time, he chose a cold snack next. Or at least a snack that won't burn you when you take a bite.
Hearing a sound of popping and crackling in the sky, you looked up and spotted the bright colours of fireworks.
"GIYUU! THE FIREWORKS ARE STARTING!"
Pulling him by the hand to a secluded area you sat down on a patch of grass, patting the spot beside you, motioning for him to sit down so you could watch the fireworks together. Laughing internally at how excitable you were, he sat down next to you.
Looking up at fireworks starting to fill the sky, his eyebrows started to furrow.
"(Y/N)?"
"Hm?" Is all you answered, too focused on the display of colours above of you.
"Why are we sitting here? You could see the fireworks better there," He asked, pointing at a group of people grouping up too watch the fireworks. It was an ideal spot really, you could see the firework perfectly from there.
Seeing you eyes flicker down at where he pointing, you shook your head slightly and scooted over to press up against him. Which made Giyuu comically freeze up.
"There's too many people there. I know you don't like crowds that much." You answered simply, still watching the fireworks in the sky.
"And besides," Giyuu's eyes widen even more as you leaned your head against his shoulder. "We can watch the fireworks just fine here."
Feeling his heart pound in his chest, Giyuu hoped you couldn't hear it. But it was so loud, he would be surprised if you didn't. The feeling was familiar actually, he remembered it from all the times you smiled at him. Thought it was more intense this time, he strangely liked it.
'(Y/N)'s much too nice, too nice for you.'
Maybe, he reasoned with himself, looking down at you with soft eyes.
But if you chose him out of all people.
Above him, Giyuu could hear the crackle of bursting fireworks, but his senses were completely locked onto you. The little gasps you would let out unconsciously when a pretty firework caught your attention, or the way you try burring yourself closer to him when the sounds would get too loud for you. Repositioning himself on the grass so you could lean on him better, Giyuu looked up at the sky.
Maybe there was something he was doing right after all.
Tumblr media
Sniffles and sobs sounded through the room. And so did your voice, humming him a soft song, in hopes of calming him down.
It was another nightmare.
He woke up screaming with tears already flowing out his eye lids. You were already awake by then, sitting up in your shared futon, concern laced through out your features.
And so it led to where he was right now, head tucked into the crook of your neck and arms wrapped around you.
Your clothes should be soaked by now with how much he was crying into your shoulder, but you didn't seem to mind. Welcoming him into your arms and gently running your fingers though his hair, knowing it would calm him down.
Even it was just a little.
"Shhh, it's okay yuu. You're safe, it's okay. I'm here, my love."
Whispers of sweet nothings calmed him down ever so slightly, and so did your embrace. Giyuu's breath evened out after thirty minutes or so after he woke up, maybe longer or shorter he didn't know. The concept of time was lost to him at the moment.
He pressed his forehead into your collar bone, as his shoulders still shook lightly with the remaining hiccups that insisted to stay. But you remained patient as always, bring him closer in your arms or letting him breath when he needs it.
You were growing concern however, his arms were still clinging onto you and his eyes were still shaking. He wasn't fully out of his nightmare yet, and that was fine really but it's never taken this long before.
The nightmare was different this time. And you could tell.
Over the years of being with Giyuu, you've witness his nightmares before, but not even in your earlier relationship did his nightmares leave him this distraught. You didn't want to push your sweet boy though, so you did your best at comforting him the best you could.
Maybe getting him some tea would calm him down a little more?
Patting his shoulder softly, you indicated that you wanted to get up. Usually he would let you, reluctantly though, still shaken up from the nightmare he just had. But this time he held onto you tighter, hurriedly babbling out pleads for you not to leave.
"Okay, okay I won't leave i promise."
Hearing you say those words triggered something and a new wave of fresh tears spilled out. He didn't mean too, but the nightmare was still ingrained in his head. He thought it was getting better, he really was.
But they kept coming back.
Thoughts raging on about how you would leave him one day, when you finally see how pitiful he was. Nightmares of the one day you actually do, and today wasn't any different.
"Pl-please don't leave me,"
Your heart ached at how desperate he sounded, never in your days would you ever consider doing such a thing. Why would you, when you have everything you want in your arms.
"I won't I promise," Placing a kiss on top of his head, you continued softly placing kisses all over his face. One on each cheek and eyelids all puffed up from how much he was crying, another on the tip of his nose and then his forehead. Saving the best for last, you pressed kiss after kiss on his lips. "I love you so much Giyuu, you're all I want."
Hiccuping, he tried the best he could returning your kisses. Pressing his forehead to yours when he his sobs got in the way.
"I love you too," He would quietly whisper back, making it only for your ears to hear.
Bringing him into your arms again, you patted his head softly, murmuring reassurance. "My poor sweet boy, I'm sorry you had to go through that. You're okay now I promise, you're still here, in my arms. It was a nightmare Giyuu, it'll be okay."
Slowly his hiccups and sobs left, tears were dried up but your limbs still entangled with his.
Doubts came flooding in though, quickly replacing them. A swarm of thoughts felt all too familiar to Giyuu, and he was sick and tired of it. Before he could stop and listen to them, your hand running up and down his back brought him back to earth.
It was amazing how you could quiet his thoughts in a matter of seconds when he couldn't do it in months.
He couldn't count all the times you've helped him along on both of his hands, all the times you make sure his grounded so he doesn't get swept up by his own head. Or making him smile when it seems like doing the impossible. He just loved you so much.
Squeezing you tighter, he took a breath in of your comforting scent. "I love you so much,"
"I love you too yuu, more then you'll ever know."
Feeling another kiss on the crown of his head, Giyuu finally let himself breathe. He knows his thought won't leave him along any time soon, but as long he has you by his side.
Things weren't going to be so bad.
Tumblr media
Soft cries filled the room and it broke Giyuu's heart, quickly bringing up the bundle of blankets in his arms to his chest and rocked them back and forth.
"How's he doing Giyuu?"
Looking up from the bundle, he met your tired eyes. Smiling he shifted his arms and helped you lean against him for support, now he had the two people he loved most in the world in his arms. Even though one just arrived in a few minutes prior, the little one quickly stole his heart.
"Hello little Akimitsu," He heard you say from your place tucked in his shoulder, your hand softly caressing your sons cheek.
"Akimitsu?" Giyuu asked, you two never really decided on a name. Wanting to give your future child a perfect name when they finally join your little family.
"Yes! Our little bright light, just like the buttercups you gave me." You answered, sending him a cheeky grin.
Your husband scoffed light-heartedly, "How do you still remember that?"
"Of course i remember! You looked so cute back then, you still do but you get the point."
He smiled at you and pressed a kiss at your temple before helping you lie down again, "Get some rest (Y/N), I'll take care of him."
"I know you will," You said, giving both your boys a kiss to their cheeks before laying down and yawning. Promptly falling asleep a few minutes after.
Chuckling, Giyuu stood up as quietly as possible, not wanting to disturb your slumber. You need rest after all, giving birth wasn't an easy thing to do after all. Sharp cries reached his ears and he immediately looked down at the boy in his arms.
His boy.
Shushing him softly Giyuu made his way outside and unravelled the blankets just a tad bit, giving the newborn some room to feel the fresh spring air.
"Can you see that Akimitsu? The flowers are in bloom, your mother loves them very much."
He knew the baby couldn't understand him, nor could his baby see the blooming flowers he was talking about. But it didn't matter much to him, he just wanted to the spend every second with him. Show him the world, spring and flowers.
Picking a familiar yellow flower he placed it in front of his sons face. "This one's a buttercup, they're (Y/N) favourite flower."
As if he understood, Akimitsu reached out to the flower and let out a gurgle. Which Giyuu took as a laugh, "Yes that's right! That's your mommy's favourite flower!"
Looking down, Giyuu's felt his heart soar just looking at him.
His little boy. Pressing a kiss onto his forehead, he swore. No matter how much he think he doesn't deserve you and your son, he's still going to love you both with all his heart.
And maybe, one day. You both can teach him that he deserves it, all your care, your attention and love. That he really does deserve it, no matter what he tells himself.

"Have you got the," "The student's papers? Yep, I've got them already,"
Slamming the car door shut you swung the bag over your shoulder, only to immediately regret it as the fabric dug into your skin. Wincing at the feeling you tried to reposition the tote bag, maybe you should've just held it normally instead.
A soft thunk of the car trunk closing catches your attention.
Looking up your eyes meet ocean blues. "Ready?" He asks, taking strides towards you, briefly pulling on the handle of the car door to check if he locked it properly. In the crook of his elbow he held the picnic basket, filled to the brim with snacks and drinks you both picked up at the convenience store a few blocks away from your apartment.
"Mhm, these papers are heavier than I thought though," You answered, still rolling your shoulder in attempts to relieve some of the soreness that was already setting in.
Giyuu furrowed his eyebrows and tried reaching out to take the bag for you, only for you to take his free hand in yours, instinctively he tangled his fingers with yours. "We could switch?"
"Nono it's fine I got this," Dropping the bag off your poor shoulder, you carried it in your hand instead. "There, that's much better,"
Smiling up at him you tugged on his hand as you began walking down the brick road. You had asked Giyuu to park a little further down from the picnic area, wanting to sneak in a quick walk underneath the street lights with your dear lover.
Not like it was a very subtle attempt though, Giyuu knew what you were doing the moment you leaned over and grinned at him from the passenger's seat. He was used to your antics but he wasn't going to say no to them anytime soon.
Clacking of shoes against pavement ringed in the air, as well as quiet chit-chat that was meant to be only heard by the two of you.
A blanket of comfort surrounded you and Giyuu, it felt like home, yet he's only been here a handful of times before. Once or twice with his older sister in his younger years, then the numbers multiplied when he started dating you.
In the back of his mind he hoped the visits to park would keep being a recurring thing, especially when he could feel his heart pounding in his chest as you swinged the bag in your hand back and forth while telling him about a funny story that happened in your classroom.
Forcing back a smile, he tried to gaze adoringly at you as discretely as possible. You were just so cute.
He didn't expect you to look up at him suddenly though. Catching him in the act, you watched as blood rush to his face — making it a beautiful shade of ruby instead of the delicate pink that was already dusted across his cheeks from his time admiring you.
"I-uhm-"
Eyes blown wide he stuttered and stumbled his way into finding a reasoning behind his staring. But you didn't need to hear it, or maybe you didn't want to, not when you caught a glimpse of how he was looking at you. The way his face relaxed and soften with unconditional love sparked a similar feeling within your own heart, making it race with nothing but deep affection for the man walking besides you.
Little sparks soon lit a fully raging fire of tenderness and endearment, maybe you should've left the jacket at home, you don't know how much more warmth you could take.
Pushing your face into the crook of his neck, you quickly hid away the signs of your overflowing love, bubbling up to surface in the form of heat blooming in your cheeks and the ever growing grin on your face. Yet the butterflies didn't want stay put, they fluttered their way from your stomach all the way to your throat, colourful wings flowing out as equally beautiful words tumbling out your lips.
"I love you,"
A hushed whisper was all it came out as, but feeling the slight puff of breath against his skin meant everything to him.
Giyuu knew that even if he didn't voice it out, you already know of his feelings for you. But if he doesn't do something about the breaking dam in his chest, then he thinks he might actually explode. The four words were just at his fingertips, he's heard it many times before yet Giyuu only managed to choke out a quiet; "I-I love you too,"
Recoiling inwardly, he cursed silently to himself, all those practices to a mirror and pep talks from Sabito only can get him so far.
You didn't mind though, even when he froze up after hearing your confession or when he took a few minutes to gather himself to reply with his own. It was all just so perfectly imperfect, and you wouldn't have it any other way.
Tightening your hold on his hand, you snuggled closer to his side despite the fact that you felt like you were overheating. Closing your eyes when you felt him doing the same, you relished in the wonderful bliss that now surrounded you. And while you couldn't see it, Giyuu too rested his eyes and leaned into your warmth, pressing the lower half of his face against the top of your head, enjoying everything he could.
As there were so many things to when he was with you. Even the mountains of paper work that was waiting for you both when you've finally settled down in your picnic spot sounded like the most marvellous time to him.
He wouldn't mind doing the most mundane of tasks, as long as you were there to do it with him.

'Get (Y/N) you get a raccoon friend for free'
Pairing: T.Giyuu x Reader + bonus raccoon side kick
Summary: (Y/N) walks in as the new pillar, nothing out of the ordinary of course, just a regular 'ol slayer that just so happen to reach the highest rank. Nothing out of the ordinary for the pillars to see Nattō; her raccoon friend, making an appearance on Giyuu's shoulders, nope. Nothing weird at all.
Words: 2,4K words
Warnings: Swearing.
Gender Neutral reader!
a/n's at the end of of the fic
Tumblr media
So just like the snake pillar, you had a little friend riding on your shoulders every where you go
Little Nattō the raccoon has been your buddy for years now, ever since you found him as a raccoon cub with his foot caught in a bear trap, poor thing. And by the time you became a pillar he was uh not so little anymore
Little bugger still insistent on riding on your shoulders though.
Not only your shoulders, but Giyuu's as well.
The first time Nattō hopped onto the water pillar's shoulder for a ride was during the walk back after a mission you both were assigned too.
He simply saw Giyuu's seemingly more comfortable shoulders and decided that he would abandon you in exchange for his, boy was so shocked when it happened. He was 100% ready for Nattō to scratch or bite him like every other animal he's encountered.
But no apparently your furry friend took a liking to him instead, always betraying you in favour of Giyuu. Jumping onto his shoulders or into his arms without fail every time he just so happened to see him walking by.
At first it was cute, Nattō was the reason you and Giyuu became closer in the first place after all. While he took every opportunity to jump at Giyuu, you took that opportunity to strike up a conversation with the usually silent water pillar.
But then when you actually start developing a crush on Giyuu, your friend just became a nuisance. You swear Nattō knows you have a crush on the man who's arms he just jumped into and everytime when Giyuu isn't looking he sends you what likely is the raccoon equivalent to a smirk.
Shinobu, who was easily noticed your crush on Giyuu and vice versa, teased to no end that you better hurry up or Nattō would steal your position as the love of Giyuu's life
Speaking of which, yuu never actually sees the glaring match you and Nattō have behind his back. Because every time you and your little raccoon buddy were growling at each other you guys made sure that every time Giyuu turned around you behaved like angels.
It's a form of entertainment during pillar meetings
Just watching you send daggers at your so-called-friend while Giyuu stands there while carrying said friend on his shoulders, clueless of the ragging war going on behind him.
Most of the pillars take a liking to Nattō too, key word is most
Mitsuri thinks Nattō's adorable, but Kaburamaru is contemplating whether he makes a good snack or not. Like Obanai, they too have a jealousy streak and is very upset their favourite love pillar isn't paying attention to them as much anymore
Things were set straight however when Nattō gifted Mitsuri some sakura mochi in the guise that Kaburamaru asked him to, on the count that Kaburamaru doesn't have hands,,,,
Shinobu and Obanai tend to lean away when Nattō's on your shoulders since Shinobu isn't fond with furry animals, and Obanai has the same "animals not liking him" streak that Giyuu does
They lean away from Giyuu anyways if Nattō's on his shoulders or not
Muichiro's and Kyojuro jealous that Nattō won't hop on his shoulders, he just wants a little friend to follow him on his shoulders
Sanemi, Gyomei, and Uzui are fine with the little stowaway you brought to the meeting
Now while you and Nattō might currently be in a civil war for Giyuu's affection that doesn't mean he doesn't want you to be happy, as we have established Nattō knows you have a crush on Giyuu. He's practically the first who noticed.
So off he went on a quest to see if the water pillar held the same affection for you, gotta make sure he's right for you after all. No matter how much he likes Giyuu there is no saving grace to any one who breaks your heart, Nattō makes sure they burn. Literally or metaphorically.
Good thing for Giyuu, Nattō deemed him worthy of your love and hurriedly used all the brain power he had in his head to come up with a perfect plan to get you two together. Of course he had to be a lil shit and mess with you by stealing your man first but hey what are friends for.
But to enact his master plan he needed some help, after all he was just a lone raccoon. So after multiple failed attempts at getting your two to confess he finally gave in and asked for help from the top of the top. He needed the love pillar.
After some charades and a little a bit of help from a present snake, she finally understood and quickly offered her help.
Little did they know back at the water estate they were missing all the action. And by action, I mean you nursing your stinging cheek while Giyuu sat five feet away with his head bowed in shame.
It was an accident really, this sweetheart wouldn't slap you on purpose. It wasn't his fault that you slipped in the middle of sparing with him, and it wasn't his fault that he tried to catch you to maybe do the thing Tengen said would make you swoon and hold you in a dip. And it was most definitely wasn't his fault that he accidentally slapped you instead.
Even with all those factors that weren't really his fault, he still felt terrible and now sat far away from you looking like a kicked puppy. The slap didn't even hurt much, it was more of the shock, but he didn't want to risk hurting you again so five feet apart it is
Giyuu following protocol y'all what a moral citizen
So as Giyuu was having an existential crisis because omygawd i hurt them why would he do that now they won't ever like you giyuu what were you thinking, the actually you was more concerned over Giyuu then you are of the numbness in your cheek
He's usually quiet but not to this amount, and so with your quick thinking you decided you know what imma cheer 'im up. Off you went round the corner to the front of his estate where the prettiest flowers grew.
But since Giyuu can't read your mind, seeing you walk away just sent him spiralling deeper in his midlife crisis he's having at age 21. Poor baby was mentally preparing himself for never hearing you greet him every morning, or never having Nattō jump on his shoulders again, or worse. Not seeing your smile first thing after coming home from a hard mission-
Were those fingers combing through his hair?
Snapping out of his existential crisis, he whipped around to see who on earth was brushing his hair-
oh
It was you
And you were sitting really close
Feeling his cheeks heat up he barely registered you whining, upset that he had shook off most of the flowers you had delicately arranged in his hair.
Finally noticing the bundle of flowers in your hand, he asked you what were they for. So explaining your perfectly logical plan of cheering him up, flowers make you happy so maybe if you gave him some flowers he would be happy too.
But you couldn't resist the urge to put them in his hair and now here you are.
He didn't actually accept the gift because one he's so flustered over it, and two he's the one that should be giving you flowers considering that he slapped you a few minutes ago. In response to that you quickly weaved your little bouquet into a nice flower crown instead
Now he's forced to accept your offering, plopping it on top of his hair (which were already covered in flowers) Giyuu sat unbelievably still as to not shake them off this time. He was so stiff the moment you put the flower crown on, it reminded you of Nattō when you tried putting him in something nice.
Both of them seemed to forget that they could move and automatically assume the position of a statue.
Laughing your head off your reassured Giyuu that he could move it's fine, now with the tension from the sparring match gone it was much more calm in the water pillar's estate.
In your blissful haze from laughing at Giyuu's statue-like posture, you accidentally slipped out a "You're so cute Giyuu, and Shinobu wonders why I like you so much."
It took a few seconds for your words to finish processing in both of your heads, but the instant that it did you immediately slapped a hand over your mouth. Absolutely horrified over your confession.
While you were hurriedly trying to cover up what ever you just said Giyuu looked at you like you were an angel descended from heaven. Spying a lone flower lying on wooden floor he picked it up and timidly placed it behind your ear.
"I think you look cute too," you heard him sheepishly say.
A few awkward coughs were made in the silence that followed. It wasn't until you daringly placed your hand on top of Giyuu's that your eyes finally meet his again, there were a few just as awkward laughs here and there but things went as smoothly as it could.
By the time Mitsuri came over to drop Nattō off, they had rounded the corner just in time to catch you two pulling away. Cheeks dusted pink, eyes half lidded, shoulder heaving slightly, the works.
Of course they reacted calmly, with loud squealing and shrieking.
Nattō immediately jumped out of Mitsuri's arms and nyoomed his way to tackled Giyuu, making squeaking and clinking noises that sounded like threats.
He obviously wasn't that agitated or he would've growled at instead but you're pretty sure with all the gestures he was making it was something along the lines of, "How dare you make moves on my friend even though i wanted you too, they are precious and amazing, if you touch them once in a way they don't like then i'm going to beat you up buddy. No matter how comfy I think your shoulders are,"
And so on and so forth
After the whole ordeal and you waved good bye to Giyuu and began walking home, and on the entire walk back Nattō was squeaking you ear off. Going on and on about how why you didn't invite him to be there on this momentous occasion and how betrayed he felt.
You could care less however, gleeful smile glued on your face for the rest of the night. It stayed on your face till the next morning which so happened to be a pillar meeting, immediately as you walked in, Nattō parkoured his way to Giyuu. Jumping on Gyomei's shoulder, Muichiro's head, and Sanemi's back on his way there.
Where he continued his overprotective animal sidekick rant, which looked increasingly ridiculous because he was sitting on the water pillars head and placed his little paws on Giyuu's cheeks.
Possessive Nattō didn't last very long, to the relief of you and your new boyfriend. And in came in your old annoying friend; cockblock Nattō.
Every time you two went on a date or do anything that ever so slightly implies something romantic he knows, you don't know how but he knows. So now you have to leave Nattō with one of your friends because this little shit will stop at nothing to piss you off.
Those flowers Giyuu gave you cause he thought you would like them? Their Nattō's property now. That cute shy kiss Giyuu was going to place on your cheek? Oh too late Nattō stole it from you.
One time Giyuu finally gave in to curiosity and asked why you named him "Nattō", without skipping a beat you answered that you named him after the fermented snack because like the beans he's an acquired taste. You get used to his annoyance after a while.
Plus in the winter his coat makes him look so round, it's adorable.
But really though even if Nattō likes to steal the flowers and gift Giyuu give you, or the kisses that were meant for you dammit. He still loves you both.
There was a period of time where he pissed you off at the wrong time and now he's being faced with a worse punishment than a scolding, the ignoring treatment. It didn't last too long, not like you could stay angry at him when he timidly brought you all the flowers he stole from you and some of your favourite snacks as an apology.
Giyuu ended up finding you both asleep on the engawa with rappers from the sweets all around you both.
It was hell of a sight for the resident kakushi to see the water pillar carry you bridal style with a raccoon resting on the top of his head.
Speaking of sleep
When you and Giyuu cuddle, Nattō has to be there. One because both you and him got used to each others presence at night so it felt insane off when he wasn't there, and two because he's Nattō. It's extremely adorable to see you and Giyuu peacefully holding each other and a ball of fluff tucking himself next to your heads.
To clarify, yes you have braided flowers in both Giyuu's hair and Nattō's winter coat. But you didn't hear that from me
If you cook up some salmon and daikon for your boys you can watch their eyes light up in joy, it's great please do it at least once in a month.
One of Nattō's favourite game to play his find the ball of fluff, which includes him hiding in some ridiculous place which forces you and Giyuu to go hunt him out. Sometimes it's not that hard looking for him, because that moving lump under the futon cover definitely isn't him.
But other times you get a heart attack when you can't find him, only to spot a tail peaking out from inside a pot on the counter.
The majority of the time however he's just hiding under your clothes, see that round thing on Giyuu's back under his split haori? Yeah Nattō just got cold and decided to sap you boyfriend of his heat.
It's not a rare sight for the pillars or close by demon slayers to see a tail peeking out of you clothes or a mass of fur hanging around your shoulders. Or maybe one of you with a new suspiciously real looking hat.
Nattō can be a pest at times, but most of time he's a sweetheart and loves both you and Giyuu. Even though he seems to love Giyuu more it's not true. He loves you both equally i swear.

Giyuu x lightning pillar!reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Headcanons + Small burbs bout how you two met and shenanigans~
Words: 3,5K words
Warnings: Spoilers! about giyuu's final selection, ya'll know that means some major character death. Mentions about bruises and injuries, general typical violence.
Gender neutral reader!
−○❖○❧ •❁※❁• ☙○❖○−
You met him before the final selection started and-
Giyuu was reeling, you had him SHOOK
He thought you looked gorgeous even though you were just standing there, but poor bby was too scared to walk up and talk to you
So he was just staring at you with ✨sparkles✨ in his eyes
Sabito was having none of it however and dragged him over to you and told him to "man up"
You on the other hand were already glancing over at the pair cause you thought they looked interesting with their fox masks
Anyways, that's how you and Giyuu first met-
"Giyuu, i swear to god it's not that hard, just walk up and ask their name," said a very annoyed Sabito. But he didn't move and just kept staring at you with big blue eyes, "Are you even listening to me?" Sabito asked waving his hand in front of Giyuu's face. "Huh?"
Giyuu's eyes snapped back from looking at you to looking at Sabito, who looked very much annoyed and yet amused. "I said, if you can hear me in there," He emphasised his point by knocking on giyuu's forehead. "Just go up and talk to them already stupid"
"I-" "Hello"
Both boys jump slightly as a new voice popped into their conversation. You decided that if he wasn't going to talk to you, then you're going to do it yourself.
"dON'T DO THAT-"
Giyuu was 100% sure you actually an angel from heaven when he heard your voice for the first time, he thought it was the nicest thing he's ever heard
And then you laughed because Sabito was nagging you for sneaking up on them, and boy oh boy.
You thought giyuu was floored before? You haven't seen nothin yet
Your laugh made giyuu's heart do flips, he actually got worried if he might be sick for a moment
With a few good bonks from Sabito and actually exchanging names the three of you went into the selection together
As long as you didn't sneak up on them again
The first few days went fine, the three of you were slaying demons left and right
You didn't mean for your breathing style to be so flashy but boy were you glad it was because Giyuu couldn't take his eyes off of you
Boy had ✨sparkles✨ in his eyes again
You on the other hand, could not get over the fact of how pretty his eye were, especially in the moonlight
And they matched his nirichin blade so he was extra pretty while slaying demons-
Now third wheel Sabito on the other hand-
He wasn't sure if he wanted to gag at how many times he caught you two making heart eyes at each other when you thought no one was looking
OR
If he wanted to feel like a proud parent because giyuuwasactuallytalkingtoyouwithouthishelp
he's so proud
But then came the last day
(Sad hours for the two of you)
When Giyuu got hurt, you were the one who convinced Sabito to let him stay until the end of the selection, surprisingly he agreed
So the three of you found a place to hide out for a while so you could fix up giyuu's wound
However,,,
As you were patching up Giyuu's head the hand demon arrived, and Sabito
Brave and selfless Sabito
Told you more liked yelled at you to run with Giyuu as he fought of the demon
The three of you had defeated every demon before this one so how hard could it be?
Is what you and Sabito thought, but then,,,
As you and Giyuu were running you heard a metal clink!
And made the unfortunate decision to look back, just in time to see Sabito being killed by the hand demon.
You had to make a quick decision, either you could fight the demon yourself and avenge Sabito
or
You could listen to him and keep running with Giyuu
It was a tough decision but at the end you chose the latter
Sabito was strong and a very good swordsmith , you knew this, and if he couldn't defeat the hand demon then neither could you. Especially on your own.
That and, if you were to die just like Sabito did that would mean leaving an injured Giyuu on his own.
So while it took every fibre of your being to not turn around and face the demon, you carried on running until you saw the barrier of wisteria blossoms.
Only you and Giyuu came out of the final selection, and it Sabito's death weighed heavy on your heart but now wasn't the time to give up.
You were the one to take an injured Giyuu back to Urokodaki and unfortunately were also the one to tell him of Sabito's death
And that was the last you saw of giyuu
sIKE
You actually checked in on Giyuu every now and then, to check in on his recovery progress
You were also there when he woke up
It was sad boi hours :(
It took a while for you to get him back on his feet, even then he wasn't the same boy you met in the beginning of the selection
He smiled less or even not at all
Thus in turn making you sad, the first few years were rough to say the least
But that's enough sad boi hours
A few years after the final selection you two were in separable, if you weren't on mission you were together
If they wanted you find you, they would look for Giyuu
Low and beyond you would be close by
Giyuu still had days where Sabito's and his sister's (Tsutako) deaths really catch up to him, and on those days Giyuu would lock himself in his room
You remember that time Tanjirou basically broke into Giyuu's home and just started talking to him? Yea you'll have to do something along those lines
But you remember to always bring a spare blanket and a drink with you, need to keep the sad roll hydrated after all
Or even better if you want to see the sad roll smile, you can make some of his favourite salmon daikon
Now, how you two got together and developed feelings is whole another story
totally not because this is already getting very long and i can't fit everything, totally not
You two were actually together before he became a pillar, you joining not long after
It was always a funny sight, the both of you together, the ever so stoic and statue like water pillar next to the bubbly and sunny lightning pillar
The pillars especially liked to poke fun at this
Speaking of the pillars,,,
They didn't even know you were together at first
Giyuu wasn't much of a fan for PDA and you respected that, so the both of you saved PDA until you were in private
That didn't mean he gave you 0 affection of course
He loves hand holding, when he gets used to it that is
Start out small like linking pinkies or this bby will turn into a surprised blushy blob, give him time and he'll come around
So the lack of PDA and the stark difference between the two of you didn't really help give the other pillars clues about your relationship
To top it all off you and Giyuu never even mentioned it, nobody really asked so,,,you never told anyone? Expect for Urokodaki-san of course but that's for later
And so shenanigans issued
Surprisingly you, Shinobu, and Mitsuri quickly became friends after your first meeting with the pillars
Giyuu wasn't close with the other pillars
And they quickly noticed you looking,, particularly more bubbly on some days
(You and Giyuu just came back from your monthly date, since the both of your were pillars and had a busy schedule you tried to save a day every month for some alone time with Giyuu. And it quickly became a tradition)
And so they kidnapped you brought you over for tea to interrogate ask about your sudden bursts of happiness
Mitsuri quickly proposed that you may have a s/o!
Shinobu on the other hand,,,
You see, you and Shinobu had grown close (much to Giyuu's dismay and your amusement) over the duration of you being a pillar
So close in fact, you even thought of her as your sister
And your sister figure,,, was not keen on the idea of you being courted by someone
After all none of them are worthy of you, Shinobu's words not yours
So what did you do? Tell Shinobu that your dating Giyuu of course!
sike
of course you didn't tell Shinobu right away, no
She looked like she was about to murder anyone who dared even look at you inappropriately
And you liked your aloof boyfriend in one piece and breathing thank you very much
"(Y/N)-chan~ You would tell us if someone was courting you right?" "I- uh don't know what your talking about Shinobu," you answered Shinobu squeamishly. You see, you were about to answer Mitsuri's assumption happily, ready to tell them all about your sweet boyfriend. But you didn't even have to look at Shinobu to feel the dark aura she was emitting, maybe this wasn't the right time to tell them. "Oh~ Then who, pray tell, gave you that clip?" she was referring to the sparkling clip giyuu had given you the previous night, which you currently wear proudly on the front of your haori. The reason why it caught their attention was because it had a blue moon on it, very beautiful but it directly contradicts your sunny (hahah) personality. You however loved it dearly, because Giyuu gave it to you of course! But mostly because it mimics how bright his eyes were in the moonlight, not that you would ever tell anyone it's the reason you loved it so much. "Someone very special to me," it was a simple answer but you quickly realise that it might not be the best move, because while Mitsuri's squealing got louder, Shinobu suddenly stood up (with her nirichin blade in tow) and waltz over to the door. "shinobu dON'T-"
But Shinobu's murderous intentions aside
It didn't stop you gushing about your stoic boyfriend to them
(without telling them who he was ofc because Shinobu was still very ready to poison someone)
i really want to do domestic head canons but this is already getting too long so i'll those in a separate thing
The day they found out was the day you went out on a mission alone and came back extremely injured
The mission was relatively easy, but then you ran into an upper moon
You manage to come out the victor but it resulted in an express trip straight to the butterfly estate
Lest to say Giyuu was stressed
He knew the mission was relatively simple so he wasn't that worried, but when he got word of your battle with the upper moon
boi
Shinobu doesn't think she's ever seen someone run that fast into her estate
You were unconscious when Shinobu had led him your room
The severity of wounds made him tear up slightly, even under the hospital clothes you wore he could see the sickly yellow and dark blues from bruises on your skin
In some ares where the bandages were peaking out you skin was red from the deeper wounds you got from the fight
Shinobu promptly left the room, but not before making a mental note to threaten Giyuu later
You were one of her close friends after all, she'll be damned if she let anyone break you heart
Especially not tomioka
She'll interrogate question you later, for now you needed to recover
Speaking of your recovery
Giyuu stayed by your bedside the entire time, waiting for you to wake up
Which ended up being two weeks later
When you woke up he immediately latched onto you, nearly losing you scared him half to death and he didn't let go of you until Shinobu came in to change your bandages
She walked into the room to see you and giyuu squished on the bed holding each other
Giyuu passed out after a few minutes since he barely slept without you
bby was scared to lose you so much he couldn't sleep
So you were the only one awake when Shinobu walked in
You looked down at Giyuu who was asleep on your shoulder (he would have slept against your chest like usual but he didn't want to hurt you ;-;). What few rays of sunlight left were seeping through the window and coloured his face and hair golden, he looked so beautiful at this moment. It was rare for you two to get time to actually relax together, especially during this time of day when the demons began to creep from the shadows to start hunting, but you didn't want to think of work right now. Right now was just you and Giyuu. Giyuu. Your sweet and sometimes idiotic lovable Giyuu. His slow breathing tickled your neck, but you couldn't complain, not when he seemed so peaceful. With a touch as light as a feather you slowly traced over his features that you so adored. His cheeks. They were so soft when you would squish them, how could you resist when he looked so cute pouting at you. And how they would turn a pretty shade of red when you peppered him with kisses. So cute. Drawing circles with your thumb over his cheek bones, down to his jaw and finally landing on. His lips. You remembered when you first kissed those lips, it was sun rise. And as the ash of the demon you two had just slayed drifted away you couldn't take your eye off of him, the rising sun just made him look even more gorgeous. The similarities between then and now were uncanny, and you just could help yourself. Leaning in, you quickly placed a soft peck on his lips not wanting to wake him. But as you leaned back you caught his eyes fluttering open sleepily. His eyes. How you loved them. They were so blue, so beautiful. Even with the dark circles under them it didn't dampen how pretty his blue hues were, but it did worry you, how long was he waiting for you to wake up? "It's okay go back to sleep yuu, sorry i woke you," "You,, didn't,," You giggled as your boyfriend drifted off to sleep in the middle of his sentence. He was too cute for his own good. Tracing his face with your fingers again you tried memorising him as best as you can, when you reached his eyes you stopped. Just watching how his eyelashes fluttered in his sleep, even in sleep he managed to look so effortlessly beautiful. "You knowww if you're being held hostage i know how to kill a man and hide his body very easily (Y/N)-chan~"
"SHInubo!!"
You quickly quieted down into a whisper when Giyuu shifted in your arms.
And that's how you and Shinobu had a whisper match over why, no Shinobu you can't kill Giyuu
Well, at least you were whispering, Shinobu was just talking normally
You're pretty sure she was talking a bit louder just to spite you
So that was how Shinobu found out
When the other pillars found out is another shenanigan it it's own right (Shinobu told them)
The first response you got when walking into the next pillar meeting was
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH"
it was mitsuri
There was a lot of "How the hell did this happen??" "(Y/N) blink twice if your family's being held hostage" "How the fuck did he get them to date him, Kocho are you sure they don't have brain damage too?" "(Y/N) are you sure you don't prefer someone more flamboyant?"
So that was a fun meeting
You should have seen the look on the pillars faces when you got Giyuu to crack a smile
Anyways,
The two of you live in the same estate, and there's a pond just outside of it
You and Giyuu loved to sit on the edge and maybe have a small picnic, just the two of you
Play with his hair, it's so soft even if it looks like a spiky porcupine
He'll let you braid or tie it if you ask 👀👀👀
It's relaxing as well, so he might fall asleep in your lap
Goodbye and good morning kisses are a daily tradition, he will get grumpy if he didn't get one or the other
Will and has trapped you to the futon until you give him a morning kiss
"Giyuu, my love, please let go i need to prepare breakfast" "No" Honestly, you couldn't even get the first sentence out without laughing. Why was your boyfriend so goddamn cute. You tried to wiggle your way out but that didn't work, so pushing his arms away was the next best thing. Firmly pushing him away worked for a just a moment, but you weren't quick enough to escape so Giyuu just stuck right back on you. The situation was honestly hilarious to you, his arms were locked around your waist and his (clearly pouting) face was buried in the crook of your neck. "Giyuuuuuu" The only response you got was a disgruntled grumbles, for a second you thought he would let you go, but your hopes were dashed when he just readjusted his hold on you. So now you were the one facing his chest. His body heat was very tempting and you almost went back to bed, but your stomach had different ideas. "Yuu im hungry, i can make you simmered salmon and daikon for lunch~" "Hmmm" The offer was very tempting, so it surprised you when he shook his head and tucked your head under his chin. Possible reasons were running through your brain, 'is he mad? no he wouldn't be sticking on to me' 'was he jealous of something? no it can't be that either, he's usually closed off not even more clingy' 'what is it?'. Suddenly, Ding! It suddenly came to you why he was acting like this, giggling you hugged your blue eyed boyfriend closer (as if you could get any closer with how tight Giyuu was holding you) he was way too cute for your own good sometimes. Wondering why you were suddenly laughing, Giyuu looked down but got his breath knocked out instead. You looked so goddamn cute right now. You would argue other wise since you just woke up and your hair is a mess, face still drowsy from sleep and you had lines indented on your cheeks from the sheets you pressed your face against in your sleep. But Giyuu swore, you looked like a goddess in his arms. "Giyuuu" "Hm?" You reached up and wrapped your arms around his neck, playing with the hair at the back of neck. Giyuu shivered but his body felt warm pressed up against yours, he started to lean in when he saw you doing the same. "You're so cuute" Your said cute boyfriend blushed red as you nuzzled into his cheek. But before you could make breakfast for you and him, you backed up to meet his eyes. Those pretty blue eyes, you could stare into them for hours, but right now your stomach was screaming at you to get food so you leaned in and pressed a sweet kiss to his lips. "Love you,"
You were usually the one who cooks and makes box lunches for you both but Giyuu does know how to cook
He just likes your cooking better
"Giyuu want do you want for lunch?" "You," ",,," ",,," "I- " "i meant your cooking"
But when you do cook together, its either very calm or actual chaos
You're both soaked with water, washing rice turned into a water fight
Looking back now, it was a pretty stupid idea to challenge the water pillar to a water fight
Either that or the food would be all gone before it even reaches the plate
Luckily you work better together on missions
Demons don't stand a chance when it the two of you together
You two are known to combine your breath styles to take demons out in record time
Fighting together during the final selection means you two know each others moves like the back the back of your hand
All in all you two are a force to be mess with
It's very funny for the surrounding slayers or kakushi to see the drastic shift from when you two are in battle to when it's over
You immediately ran over to Giyuu no matter how injured you were and fussed over him as if you weren't just as injured
Depending on the mission the moment you get home you immediately crash with Giyuu, tangled limbs and the blankets aren't even fully on your bodies
But Giyuu was sleeping on your chest and your head was resting ontop of his so everything was a-okay
I really want to make more scenarios and add more things, like domestic fluff, the kamboko squad being your adoptive children, and just more ideas i had but couldn't add them since it was already getting too long :/
Therefor,,i shall make them into their own things
−○❖○❧ •❁※❁• ☙○❖○−
i hoped you liked it :D it's my first fic in general so I'm doing my best please don't be too mean ._. those other fics will be coming to sooner or later since i really wanted to include them, however when are they coming out i don't know~

・✿ S. Genya ✿・
He's going to be in so much trouble, he's so screwed.
Behind him he could hear Zenitsu mockingly 'ooo'-ing at him. He's long understood that you, as the eldest Shinazugawa sibling and their only living sister, are off limits. Genya and Sanemi has made that very clear.
Luckily for him, he and the kamaboko squad were the only people there. But unluckily for him, they were the only people there. Meaning he wasn't expecting someone to tap his shoulder.
So he might of elbowed you in the arm out of reflex.
"Onee-san! I-I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to-" You cut him off by ruffling his hair.
"Take it easy Genya, it's okay really. I'm fine." Spotting the boys you waved at them before turning to your brother, patting his shoulder and gestured him to follow you. "Come on Gen, you should take a break. You all should."
Quickly nodding, he said his good byes before following you back to the wind pillar's estate. Keeping his eyes trained to his feet, he walked behind you. Terrified of what might happen if Sanemi found out what he did.
Would he get yelled at? Would he be thrown out? No, you wouldn't let that happen, but would you after that?
Gulping, he nervously glanced up and down again. But he accidentally met your gaze, you noticed your little brother's demeanour and linked you arm with his to drag him o your side. Making him walk beside you instead.
"Are you at that age where you're embarrassed to walk beside your sister Genya? Stop growing up so fast already~"
"N-no! I w-wouldn't- I mean I would never-"
Chuckling you nudge his arm, "Just teasing you Gen, let's head back yeah? Or your tea will get cold."
Tugging him along, you walked back home with his arm still locked with yours. You could tell if you didn't he would go back to trailing behind you again.
Finally arriving, you opened the door and led him to the kitchen, where Sanemi was already sitting. Drinking his tea with an empty plate in front of him, nodding his head when you greeted him.
Letting Genya go, you went over to get his tea. But when you turned back around, he was still standing awkwardly by the door where you left him. Rolling you eyes, you set the tea cup down.
"Stop looking like kick puppy and get over here and hug me, you hit me by accident and it didn't even hurt"
Putting your hands on your hips, you pouted at him.
Genya on the other hand was horrified, absolutely terrified at what Sanemi would think of him hitting their sister. Glancing at said male, who had an eye brow raised, he looked amused more than anything else.
"Didn't even hurt? You need to work on that then if you can't even get her to flinch"
Scoffing you shoved Sanemi lightly, pulling your youngest brother into a hug anyways. Which he eagerly returned, glad that his overly anxious thoughts weren't right after all.
"Now drink up, you need to rehydrate after all that training."
Handing him his cup, you sat down across from nemi, leaving his to sit in between. Something was off though.
Glancing around the room he could see empty trays but nothing on them, in the air he could smell something baked, so why couldn't see them?
"Nee-san, did you bake anything? It's smells like cookies here."
Both you and Sanemi glance around the room, feigning innocence.
"I didn't make anything Genya, have some ohagi instead." You tried to distract him by pushing the plate towards him, in the corner of your eye you could see Sanemi brushing some crumbs off the table.

・✿ S. Sanemi ✿・
"You suck at cooking,"
Ignoring your brother, you continued pulling out the second batch of cookies out of the oven. It was his own choice to eat the cookies you clearly messed up.
Putting the cookies aside, you wiped the table down. While you were contemplating what you did wrong, Sanemi was staring at the tray of cookies you placed away from him.
"Are you not going to give me some?"
Looking up at him you raised a brow, glancing at the failed treats to the empty plate set in front of him.
"But their hard as rocks why would you want more?" Oh you knew the answer, you just wanted him to say it. Undoing the apron you waited for a response.
"I'm hungry and it's the only thing in the kitchen."
"Uhuh? So I'm assuming that plate of perfectly good food next to you is for Genya then?" You retorted, smirking when you heard him scoff, he'll have to find a better excuse than that.
"He'd break his teeth if he tried eating your cookies, so hand em over."
Quickly snatching the tray before he could, you held it away from his reach. "So you do want these cookies?"
Hearing a grumbled 'yes' you leaned against the counter, "Why nemi?"
Giggling as you heard him mutter out curses, you shook the tray of cookies. Silently telling him that if he wants the cookies he'll have to say it first.
"Come on nem, we both know what the answer is~"
You brother shot you a weak glare before mumbling out something, "What was that?"
"Because you made them." He said defeatedly.
Humming in satisfaction you slid the tray over to him, going over to heat up some water so you could make you both some tea to go along with it. Or more accurately, to wash down any cookie cement that was left.
Preparing three cups by mistake, you poured the extra cup of tea anyways. Your youngest brother was out training with his friends, but maybe you could persuade him to take a break early so he could enjoy some food with you and Sanemi.
The actual edible food of course.
Siting across from Sanemi you gave him his cup of tea, getting you a small 'thanks' in response.
Eyeing the cookies you quickly made a count of them, six in total, snatching up four— you stuffed one into your mouth and left the three on your plate.
"Why-" He looked at you, baffled why you would take so much. Made by you or not, even he wouldn't eat that much in one sitting.
"The more we eat the less likely Genya could break his teeth on one." You explained, cheekily winking at him but struggling to swallow the cookie.
"Fine but at least split it even-" Cutting himself off with an 'Ah!', he immediately retracted his hand after you slapped it, in response to him trying to take another cookie off your plate.
You tsked at him shaking your head. "I'm older Nemi."
Groaning at the all too familiar reasoning he tried to do it again but stopped when he saw you raise your hand, eyeing him from the rim of your cup.
Scoffing he ate another cookie, choosing to ignore you snickering at him in victory.

・✿ A. Zenitsu ✿・
Kaigaku laughing could be heard from where he sat under a tree, just a few steps away from where you and Zenitsu were training.
Speaking of Zenitsu.
"Zen get out of there,"
"Nooo," He responded, drawing out the 'o'
Your brother was currently curled into a ball inside a hole underneath a tree. The reason why he was doing so is because of what happened during your sparring match with him.
After recently coming back from the final selection you tried helping Gramps train Zenitsu, who hasn't gone through it yet. Hoping to prepare him face the demons he'll inevitably will come across during his hike up the mountain.
"Is he still hiding there?" "Unfortunately,"
Was your conversation with gramps before he walked away to smack Kaigaku for laughing at the blonde's mistake, knowing you could handle it just fine.
To put it simply, all Zenitsu did was-
"Stop looking like kick puppy and get over here and hug me, you hit me by accident and it didn't even hurt"
Hit you with a wooden sword, by accident mind you.
At the end of match, you were about to knock the wooden sword out of his hands, trying to catch him off guard. He however panicked and resorted to wildly swing his sword in the air,,, into your face.
It didn't hurt though, nothing compare to what you face during your final selection but it seemed like your brother thought other wise.
You let him wail a bit more, listening to him crying about how he hit you and he could never forgive himself for it, ever. Rolling your eyes, you eventually kneeled down next to the hole he was hiding in.
"Zen- get out," Grunting you held on to Zenitsu as you tried tugging him out manually. "Of there-"
Successfully pulling him out, the both of you went flying backwards, turning your body quickly so he didn't land on the ground, your back collided with dirt with a hard 'thud'.
"There," You huffed, ruffled with unnaturally yellow locks. "Isn't this better."
But he kept sniffling, softly muttering to himself about something you couldn't hear. Rolling your eyes, you pulled yourself and Zenitsu up.
Dusting yourself off first you looked at him up and down, sighing as you noticed a smudge on his cheek you pulled out a handkerchief and rubbed it off his face.
"Come on, it didn't even hurt chin up." You bantered, tossing him the wooden he hit you with.
"What's the use of sparing nee-san, I'll just die during the final selection and now I hit you." Hearing him starting to cry again, you tapped your wooden sword against the crown of his head.
"Like I'd even let you walk into that forest if i saw you weren't ready for it Zen," He watched you come closer and linked your arm with his. "Besides, you've hit me much harder than that before why so teary about it now?"
Poking his nose you dragged him over to where you were previously training.
"Now, you want to see me kick Kaigaku's butt or what?"
He grinned at you sheepishly, much happier to watch you spar with the black haired boy then actually fighting you himself. You could 100% beat Kaigaku to the ground and you all knew it, but it was still very entertaining to watch him challenge you every other week.
With you winning every time but hey at least he's not the one on the receiving end of your sword.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
・✿ H. Inosuke ✿・
You were currently polishing your sword, cleaning off any stray demon blood that stuck on to the blade from the last mission you just went on.
In fact you just arrived at the butterfly estate a few minutes prior, with it being around midnight your younger brother wasn't up yet.
Probably tuckered out after training with Tanjiro and Zenitsu
Luckily for you, you had a little company. Not entirely since said company was running around the place, but you did see Nezuko whiz by the door a couple of times.
After you were done, you stretched your legs a bit before making your way down the hall to wash the cloth you used to clean your sword.
Making sure to make as little sound as possible, you passed closed doors and sometimes spotted red tipped hair disappearing around a corner. One of the closed you passed was the one you knew your brother and his friends were sleeping in, checking up on him doesn't sound so bad.
You creaked the door open ever so slightly, peering through the gap and made sure everyone was in bed and sleeping soundly.
Inosuke seemed to be doing just fine, so with that easing your mind, you shut the door and continued on you war. That is, until you felt something or someone tug on the edge of your uniform.
"Inosuke? What's wrong, why are you awake?"
He didn't respond, simply looking down at his feet and shuffled closer to you.
"Go back to bed Inosuke, do you want me to walk you back to your room?" You gently coaxed, patting his head.
Shaking his head, he bumped his forehead into your shoulder. Beginning to get confused you tried search him up and down, making sure nothing was physically wrong first, but then you heard his stomach rumble.
You connected the dots quickly, laughing you ruffled the top of boar head he still wore. "Do you want me to find something for you to eat 'nosuke?"
"Can I have more cookies?" He said after think for a minute.
"But their hard as rocks why would you want more?"
There's a reason why you said find something for him to eat, the last time you tried making something for your dear brother (right before the mission you just came home from) the cookies were rock solid.
You and Aoi had to pry the rest of the batch to insure no one broke their teeth trying to eat them.
"Because you made them."
He quietly admitted. Well how could you say no to that.
Smiling fondly you pat his head. "Okay, let's go to the kitchen. We can make them together."
Inosuke visible perked up, following after you to the kitchen down the hall, still grasping on to the corner of your uniform.
"I can chop up some acorns into the batter, do you think Aoi would mind if we snuck some chocolate chips too?" You playfully asked, knowing where the girl hides some of the ingredients.
Later that morning, she would walk into the kitchen to find Inosuke munching on the baked treats while you were cleaning up.
"Hm," Aoi bit into one, surprised to find it somewhat edible. "Better than last time at least.
"Hey, hey hey my cookings not that bad," You defended wiping your hands dry on a towel.
"That's because you're cooking for him," She nodded her head toward your brother, who was ignoring your conversation entirely. "He'll eat anything vaguely food-like."
Chuckling at her statement you pulled the tray away from Inosuke, making him whine at you.
"Don't eat them too fast, you'll get a cough."
Holding up the cookies out of his reach, you moved it higher every time he tried jumping for them. Knocking down argument after argument he had, clawing that "he's too strong to get bother by a simple cough."
Like you'd let your brother get sick on your watch.

'Domestic daybreaks' || T. Giyuu x reader
Tumblr media
Pairing: T.Giyuu x reader
Summary: As hashiras you and Giyuu are very busy people, thus leaving to to fall sleep at your desk the night before. So seeing you asleep in a position that will most definitely leave you sore when you wake up, Giyuu took it upon himself to bring you to bed himself. Falling asleep with you rest on his chest and this is what a regular morning for you and Giyuu looks like.
Words: 3K words
Warnings: Fluff. TW! Eating + Food warning. Minor swearing, but nothing major other than that.
Gender neutral reader!
a/n: soooo guess who's not dead, i'm a lil rusty but here it goes :D
Tumblr media
Maybe staying up late to finish that report wasn't such a good idea.
And maybe shutting your eyes for that one second wasn't a good idea either. You swore that you had just rested your head against the wooden desk not a second ago, but with the distant sounds of birds chirping breaking through your hazy hearing, you couldn't deny that it was day time.
Now the repetitive tweets were very pleasant when compared to the light of a thousand suns blaring through your closed eyelids.
It took a few minutes for the gears to start turning again, and when they did, you internally groaned. If it was daybreak, then the only explanation was that you must've fallen asleep in that four seconds you spent closing your eyes. You've fell asleep on that desk many times before, and none of them left you with a good time waking up the next morning.
Damn going to the morning pillar meeting is going to suck with the inevitable sore joints you're gonna get after falling asleep like that.
Gathering up any bits of positive thinking you still had in you, there was a small chance that you didn't fall asleep doing your report and just went to bed at the end,,, yeah no. You could already feel a sturdy surface pressed up against your cheek.
Fantastic.
Might as well get up now before the wood creates more sleep lines on your face. Muttering vexed nonsense under your breath, you propped up your hands laying at either side of your head to lift yourself off the table. Unexpectedly however, the desk did not want you leave just yet, and warm limbs wrapped around you. Holding you pinned against the surface as they rolled you with them to their side.
That immediately raised some red flags in your sleep deprived brain, to your memory wooden tables didn't move. Neither are they heated,,,or breathing?
With your thinking speed of a tortoise, you manage to figure out just what was happening. Gasping in delight you immediately relaxed and excitedly return the hug with your own. Snuggling into his warmth, you leaned deeper into his chest as you giggled audibly at the breath tickling the baby hairs sticking out from on top your head.
If this what happens when you fall asleep in the middle of work then you should do it more often.
"Mmmm I love this desk so much," You mumbled in cloudy contentment, burrowing your nose deeper into his neck. Drinking in his familiar scent. Only to be sadden when Giyuu pulled away to look at you questionably.
"Did you just call me a desk,,?" His voice was just as caked with sleep as your's was.
"mmm yes," You decided after few minutes, sliding over to get closer to him again. "And that I love you sooo much yuu."
The water pillar would've blushed red at your affection, if he was fully conscious that is, and he wasn't just yet. So while he waited for his mind to lose the haze of sleep, he might as well enjoy having you here with him while he can.
Bundling you in his arms, Giyuu rested his cheek against the crown of your head. Just five more minutes wouldn't hurt.
Five minutes quickly turned into another thirty, and by the time Giyuu awaken from the extra nap he just had. He was very disappointed to the fact that he woke up to your side of the futon being cold and empty.
After a quick yawn, he pulled your pillow to his chest and hugged it, trying to pretend that it was you.
But it was cold compared to your heat, and there were no return hugs or peppering of kisses that he was accustomed too. Thankfully, before he could get too far into sulking over the lack of your presence, the scent of cooking food wafted into the bedroom.
His stomach grumbled at the smell of breakfast and he took that as a sign to get up now. Giyuu stretched his arms and back with a groan, blinking away the last bits of sleep fogging up his eyes as he sat up. The soft blanket fell off in ripples as he did so, looking down at the fabric in his lap it took a few beats for him to realise that you had tucked the blanket back up to his chin while he was sleeping.
Bubbles of fondness overflowed out of his stomach into his chest, making him feel light.
And the feeling only grew as he noticed a little piece of paper laying beside his pillow on the floor. Unraveling the little note, Giyuu felt the corners of his mouth tilt upwards.
'Good morning my heart, I hope you had a great nights rest. Go ahead and freshen up bit for the meeting later today, I'll be preparing some food in the kitchen. After that mission yesterday, I thought you'd be hungry so I'm making some extras. Take your time yuu, i won't eat everything without you!'
At the bottom of the note was a tiny doodle of a heart next to your name, in fact there were all sorts of scribbles in the borders of the roughly torn paper. Giyuu was pretty sure that the one that looked like a pile of black lines was supposed to be a crow, his one specifically, at least he thought so since the drawing seemed really tired.
Folding the paper back up with a small smile on his face, Giyuu brushed the blankets off his legs and made his way to a wardrobe in the corner of a room.
On the top shelf was a box, a very special box for him, inside were things he's collected over the years of being with you.
Some letters ranging from the very first one you sent to one you just sent him via crow a few days ago, dried flowers and leaves from dates and other miscellaneous things. But while they were all bundled neatly with some twine, a pile however was left messily open. Those were his favourite ones; letters that he cherished and wanted to reread often, little nick-nacks that you thought he would like and he actually did want to keep for memory sake, plus hurriedly written notes just like the one in his hand.
Carefully sliding it amongst other all the papers of varying sizes, all they had in common was how much he loved the person who wrote it.
Fighting off another yawn, Giyuu shook his head and blinked rapidly. He better get ready, if he took longer than you both might be late for that pillar meeting. But first.
The water pillar slid open the bedroom door and let his feet take him to the kitchen, either it was muscle memory or his want to recover your touch he so craved, but it didn't matter which it is 'cause he was just one doorway from having you back in his arms.
Entering the room with a satisfied sigh, his footsteps were a tad hurried as he searched the room for your comforting figure gliding around the kitchen floor. Giyuu thought he would be met with the back of your head or maybe even better your smiling face, unfortunately he was just met with an empty room.
Features dropping quick, he backtracked and scanned the room again, thinking that maybe just maybe his eyes were deceiving him. But no, the room really was empty.
Taking a few steps in the room he failed to notice the silently giggling figure behind him, Giyuu sure did noticed eventually though, especially after you latched onto his back grinning ear to ear.
"I heated up the left overs from last night and made some rolled omelettes to go with it!" You crooned, propping your chin on his shoulder and pecked the corner of his jaw. "A small thank you for carrying me to bed last night. You'll get more kisses after."
As you rounded to stand in front of him, your dear husband could already feel his shoulders drop in relief. He loved your morning kisses.
"Of course I did," Giyuu put in, taking your hands in his and ran his thumbs across your knuckles. "I know how sore you get after falling asleep on your desk."
Cooing at how irresistibly cute Giyuu is, you leaned in and covered his cheeks in kisses. Loving how their softness perfectly reflected his demeanour at the moment.
"Go on and get cleaned up now, I'll go and set the table-" Cutting yourself off when you noticed Giyuu's furrowed eyebrows and pouted lips. "Don't look at me like that yuu, you prepared food last night, it's my turn this time."
"But that doesn't mean you should do all the work, I can-"
Before he could understand what was happening, you quickly brushed your lips together and pulled him into a kiss, the action shut him up real quick. Giyuu's eyes widen momentarily before they fluttered shut, ignoring heat crawling up his neck and the flush of his cheeks he leaned in to deepen the kiss. He knew what you were doing but he wasn't going to decline one of your sweet kisses.
Slowly pulling away, you still kept close, leaving a hair width separating you and Giyuu. "You say that, yet you did all the work yesterday, so therefor I'll handle the chores."
Cupping his cheeks and holding him close just for another minute more, you reluctantly turned him around and gave him gentle nudges toward the door. "Now go go, if you don't I might just give you a bath myself."
Shuffling along with your pushes, Giyuu thought over what you said for a second, and unconsciously mumbled something out loud. "That doesn't sound so bad,"
You froze with hands still pushed up against his back and stared at his face, wondering if he was serious or just did that by accident. The perk of the previously mentioned position of your hands was that you could feel him tense up, finally realising the words that stumbled out his lips.
"I'll just go now," Keeping his back turned to you, the water pillar speed walked out the door, trying to stop you from seeing how red his face was. Your previous kisses already made him turn pink but this turned him into a tomato.
So while your flustered husband ran around the corner as fast as he could, you stood there with a hand over your mouth, poorly concealing the grin you had on your face. Such a cutie.
Without whipping off said grin, you turned around to carry on what you were doing before he came in. Scooping rice into bowls and carefully shaping them into domes, well roughly a dome.
"Uhhh," You stared at the porcelain bowl in your hand, the rice dome wasn't fully smooth and it had multiple dents where you had accidentally poked it to hard. "Good enough."
Putting the less then perfect dome on your tray, you moved on to making the second one, which turned out better so you placed it on Giyuu's. The next steps were easily done, all you had to do was ladle in the broth from yesterday into their own separate bowls then plate up the rolled omelettes. Simple.
Ignoring the few drops of soup on the table next to some bits of carrots that fell out of the omelette, you brushed your hands on your apron before resting them against your hips. Satisfied with your work, but of course you weren't done just yet. Grabbing a shallow dish, in slides some grains and seeds, chopped up vegetables for a bit of variety, and lastly a few pieces of boiled chicken. Just to see if Kanzaburo and your crow would like it.
Bringing that dish to the window sill where the two crows sat, you carefully set it in between them. "Here you go, eat up! There's some chicken in there, don't you wanna try it?"
You try scratching your crows chin to get them to eat a piece, and after looking at you skeptically they relented and ate one. Only to shake their head in detest, clearly they did not enjoy the chicken. They made that very clear as they squawked angrily at you, pissed that you made them try such food. Rolling your eyes at their pickiness, you fed them a seed in apology, at least Kanzaburo seemed to like it though. You watched him from the corner of your eye, he doesn't seem to care much about it actually. The old crow tried hopping closer to the dish, but as he landed on the lip, it off set the balance and shot the other side up in the air sharply.
Luckily, with your speed you manage to catch both the dish and Kazanburo— who tipped over with the plate — before any food could spill out. While crow was cawing once again, this time angered at Kanzanburo, you placed the elderly crow back in his place. Closer, so he doesn't try it again.
"Please don't fall again,"
With the crows eating, it's time to get you and Giyuu eating too. Carefully bringing both trays of food to the table, you made sure everything was in its place and snacked on a stray piece of egg while you waited.
Thankfully you didn't have to wait long, since as you were taking off the apron, Giyuu just rounded the corner. Dressed in the standard demon slayer uniform, minus his haori though, you assumed it was still folded neatly in your bedroom then. Gretting him with a smile, you got one in return, albeit a small one but it made your heart leap nonetheless.
He walked over to you and just as he was about to give you a hug, you turned and wiggled your eyebrows at him, seeing your smug look he finally remembered what happened a few minutes ago. Groaning in embarrassment, Giyuu dropped his arms and spun around to face away from you.
Seeing the tips of his ears and his cheeks starting to turn red you laughed, awhing jokingly you stepped in front of him and wrestled your arms round his waist. Giggling out sweet nothings while you saw him pout and try to deny your hug. He gave up not a second after and dropped his head on your shoulder, loosely connecting his hands around your back.
Chuckling a bit more, you rocked him back and forth, reassuring him that you were joking and meant no harm.
He knew that already, but he still felt embarrassed at his slip up. Muttering something in your clothes before nuzzling into the crook of your neck, making you giggle at the ticklish feeling. Which was a mistake because Giyuu just did it again but softer, wanting to hear you laugh again.
Wiggling away from him, you push your forehead against his temple, laughing as you try shoving him away with just that. Playing along with your little game, Giyuu turned his face and connected your forehead with his, it turned into a very "fierce" battle with you and Giyuu trying to gain the upper hand and push the other with more force.
At the end, Giyuu ended it by pulling away fast and pecking the space between your eyes.
It surprised you how uncharacteristically open the act of affection was, even if you two were currently alone — save the presence of your crows — your husband would still be a little shy with some forms of affection, one of them being kisses. But spying the light dusting of pink across his cheeks made you smile, still your Giyuu alright.
Taking his hand in yours, you walked over to the table and sat in a comfortable silence while you both enjoyed your meal.
Tumblr media
Looking down at your feet, you checked that your footwear was on properly and probably won't fall off as you were walking.
"Are you ready?"
Giyuu said behind you, readjusting the sheathed blade at his side. He himself looked just about ready to go, if not for the fact that his haori was a little folded around his shoulders.
"Yep," Nodding at him as you reached out to fix said folding.
Seeing your hands come to his shoulders, he instinctively let you continue on what you were doing and let his eyes glide over your form. Admiring your concentrated expression for a second before a strand of hair fell over your eyes, he moved to fix it while you were trying desperately to blow it away yourself.
"Let me help," You complied and stopped arranging his split haori. Not because you needed too, but because you wanted to just enjoy the way Giyuu's hand softly brushed against your cheek to tuck the hair back in it's place.
"There," He softly muttered, relishing the fact that without the hair covering your eyes, they caught the sunlight perfectly. Making your eyes reflect like crystals.
"Mhm," You hummed in agreement, cupping his face to tilt his head down, you place one more kiss against his forehead. "Shall we get going Giyuu?"
He nodded, a tiny bit too flustered to respond with proper sentences. Instead he reached out to offer his hand, silently asking you to hold it on your way to Oyakata-sama's estate. Which you gladly accepted to, taking his hand and threading your fingers through his.
If you hadn't been looking up towards the path in front of you, then maybe you could've seen Giyuu look down at your joined hands with a slight smile on his face.
"Let's go,"
Nodding you head at him once again you tugged him forwards, almost blinding Giyuu with your smile.
With a squeeze to your hand, Giyuu started walking, easily falling into step with you. It was a familiar movement for his feet and yours, after years of knowing each other, it was plain muscle memory to walk with each other at your side.
Together, you and Giyuu left your shared estate hand in hand to the pilar meeting. Even after then there were still many years and mornings to come for you two to walk aside each other again.

・✿ S. Sanemi ✿・
Currently you were wondering if it was possible to murder someone with your gaze, because if it was then your best friend would be dead 10 times over. They were so smug, sitting in their seat as they watched you shuffle awkwardly to sit by Sanemi.
Beside them was where you were supposed to sit, but for some reason they decided to betray you in cold blood, allowing someone else to sit in your place, thus forcing you to sit in the only other place left.
And it so happened to be beside Sanemi, a guy you've been crushing on since the start of the year. Great.
Seeing you approaching, he moved his notes aside to make room for you. It wasn't rare for you to sit together really, but that was out of school; in the library where you both could be seen focusing intently on the text books in front of you.
You could handle sitting next to him while you both were studying, how hard could sitting next to him during class be?
Is what you tried telling yourself as you were struggled to write down what your professor was talking about, the pen in your hand kept shaking.
Grunting, you carelessly tossed the pen to the side in frustration, you would ask your friend for their notes later. Hearing a light tap though, you realised your pen had fallen off the side of the desk.
What a way to start the day
Sighing you leaned down to pick the pen up, only to find Sanemi's phone on the ground too.
It must have slipped out of his bag when he put it down. Might as well give it back to him.
"Hey Sanemi, your phone was on the ground."
Putting your pen back in your pencil case, you turned to hand him his phone. Snapping out whatever day dream he was having while he ignored the professor, he looked at his bag then at the phone in your hand.
"Oh yeah, thanks"
He went out to grab the phone from your hand when-
"Am I,,, your lock screen?"
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
Sanemi accidentally pressed the power button when he tried taking his phone, making it turn on and thus, showing you the picture he had on his lock screen.
"You weren't supposed to see that."
Quickly snatching it away and turning it off again, he tried playing it off and shoved it in the front pocket of his backpack. Leaning against his palm, totally paying attention to the lesson.
But you knew better, still frozen with your hand raised from when you held his phone you leaned over to get in his peripheral vision.
"Was that a picture of me?" You inquired, smirking all the while at the red that was so clearly appearing on his face.
Clearing his throat he looked down to study his empty note book. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Did you take that in the library?"
He did in fact take it during the time you sat in front of him while you both were studying in the library, even in the few seconds you manage to catch a glimpse of the book shelves lining the background and the bag of candy you always manage to sneak in.
Sanemi stayed quiet, there was no escaping. He was backed into a corner and you knew it.
Grinning victoriously, you sat back and picked your pen up again. You couldn't write down your notes but at least you could write something else down.
He tried peaking at you when he realised how quiet you had gone, nervously switching between pretending to listen to what ever the professor was drawling on about and looking over to look at what you were writing down.
You were focused on it as well, he could tell by the furrow in your brows. The same one in the picture on his lock screen, you were adorable when you tried your best at concentrating on something.
Goddammit what were you were writting? No way you were focusing that much on notes.
Internally groaning Sanemi had half a mind to slam his head against the table, he blew it. Not like he was planning on confessing anytime soon, but at least there was the slight chance you would find him okay at least.
The bell rang, and soon students were filling out the classroom one by one.
Packing up his stuff, he could vaguely see you getting up and walking over to you friend before running out the classroom with them. Great now you think he's a creep, he thought shoving the rest of his books into his bag.
Grabbing his phone, he stared at it irritated. But then his eyebrows shot up when he saw a folded piece of paper lying on the desk behind it.
Looking around the room, he found it empty. Odd.
Picking it up, Sanemi examined the strange thing before unfolding it. Quickly he spotted your familiar hand writing and the half-hazard doodles you did on the borders, but that wasn't the thing he was interested in.
'I'd prefer a nicer picture of me if you're gonna use it as your lock screen. How bout we meet up at the library after school for a date, same place same time? xxx-xxx-xxx text me so i can prepare, then you can get a better photo this time ;) -(Y/N)'
Tumblr media Tumblr media
・✿ S. Genya ✿・
Sitting in cafeteria, you zipped up your bag and took a final check to make sure you had everything in.
"Right, you ready?"
Glancing up at Genya, who was already standing up with his own backpack slung over his shoulders. "Yeah just give me a moment."
Fishing your phone out of your front pocket you tried turning it on, only to be devastated when you saw the batter had died. "Dammit, phone's dead."
He perked up, "I could lend you mine?"
What was the thing he saw in that one really cheesy movie his sister was watching? 'Subtly' asking you to put your phone number while you were holding his phone? Yeah that sounds bout right.
Pulling out his own phone, Genya handed it to you, already rehearsing what he was going to say. 'I have a space in my contacts that's free, wanna help me fill up the space with your phone number?'
Uh,,,,, no. Maybe not that-
"Am I,,, your lock screen?"
His brain froze, he completely forgot about his lock screen. "Tha- uhm"
Looking at his phone you were holding up he was really regretting not changing that back, Inosuke and Yuichiro started it as a joke to tease him. Changing his lock screen to a picture he had of you in his gallery, he was supposed to change it back when he got home but Genya really liked that picture. And so he never replaced it.
"You weren't supposed to see that."
Stuttering out his words he reached out to snatch the phone away from you, you pulled it back quicker though, and his heart sank as you inspected the picture further.
It was a picture from the event your school held a while back, you had been in charge of decorations with Tanjiro and Nezuko. You're pretty sure she took the picture while you were stringing up fairy lights in the trees up front.
Damn it when she told you she was just sending it to the group, you didn't know your crush was in said group chat.
"So,, I'm on your lock screen huh?"
"Yeah, Yuichiro and Inosuke put it up." He admitted embarrassed, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Oh." You looked down at your shoes in disappoint, so it was a joke then? Maybe he didn't like you after all, so much for what your friend tried to tell you.
Seeing you deflating he rushed to fix his statement; "I-I mean they did but you looked really nice in the picture so I uh kept it on-"
"You think I look nice?"
Fuck dammit, this is why he rehearsed before actually saying things.
"I uh," He was about to deny it, but then he met your gleaming and you seemed so cute and excited. "Yeah,,"
Your eyes widen a little, but in a pleasant way. Reeling back, you tried processing it as you felt your cheeks heat up, playing with a strand of hair you rocked back and forth on your heels shyly.
"So,"
"So"
Neither of you spoke after that, much too flustered to say anything without messing up again. You bit your lip glancing at your back pack and then at his phone in your hands, getting an idea you quickly called your guardian.
"Hello? Yeah this is (Y/N), my phone died so I'm using a friend's."
Genya stayed quiet, watching you talk with them as he awkwardly waited for you to finish and hand him his phone so he could rush home and scream into a wall.
"I want to hang out with them a bit longer, so is it okay if i got home later today? Yeah, thank you I'll be back before sundown don't worry."
Looking at you questioningly, he watched you type something down on his phone before handing it back to him. "There's a cafe a few blocks away and it's seems nice enough, want to keep me company?"
Blinking rapidly it took a second for his brain to register what you just asked him.
"Uh y-yeah! I would love to, if I'm not wasting your time that is or if you want me to join you."
Putting on your backpack you giggle as he rapidly spewed out an answer, taking his hand to cut off his incoherent rambling you tugged him over to the entrance.
"I wouldn't invite you if I didn't want you to join me Genya,"
Watching his face turn the shade of tomato, you chuckled again under your breath while he fell into step beside you.
By the time he reached his own home, he didn't even remember then thing you typed down on his phone. Flopping face first into his bed he sighed, happy that the day ended better than he expected it too.
A buzzing from his phone alerted him to check in on a text he just received, leaning against the head rest of the bed he turned on his phone and opened the text that came in.
Looking at the contact name he barely registered that it was your name, but when he did he was taken aback. He didn't have your number?
Clicking on the notification, it took him to an empty chat with only a single picture and a text sent a few minutes ago. Genya immediately chocked on spit when he register what the picture was.
Hearing his coughing fit, Sanemi opened the door to check up on him. Ignoring Genya's attempts to tell him that he was fine (which he could barely hear between coughs), he took his wrist to hold his phone steady.
Seeing a photo of what seems to be a selfie of you and Genya in a cafe, Sanemi rolled his eyes and ruffled Genya's hair before walking out the door.
Bellow it was a text;
'I think this would make a better background don't you?'

Tumblr media
You scrunched your face, the cold nighttime wind made your hair smack against your cheeks. Puffing away the stray strands away from your eye, you sighed and brought your knees to your chin.
"(Y/N)-san? What are you still doing awake?"
Yelping, you abruptly turned around. Only to find little Senjuro standing by the sliding doors.
"I could ask you the same thing Sen," You jested, wrapping your arms around your legs tucked under your chin. "Kyojuro wouldn't be happy to see you staying up so late."
He sat down next to you, fiddling with his fingers.
"I know, but I couldn't sleep." Another sign of his anxiousness were his feet swinging back and forth off the side of the engawa. "Not when aniki's on a mission."
Feeling your heart sink, you sighed and pulled Senjuro to your side. "He'll come home, like he always does remember?"
Was that meant to comfort him or you? You weren't really sure, but you knew it didn't really work on either of you. Kyojuro always came home, he promised he would.
But, this mission felt different.
A train was being suspected of demon activity, mugen train if you remembered correctly. Normally when your boyfriend would go on his mission you had not a single doubt that he would be coming home, you had gotten used to it.
This time however, something didn't feel right. He should be back by now.
"Come Senjuro, let's get you to bed," You coaxed, ruffling his hair. "Then when you have enough energy in the morning, we can make some snacks for when Kyo comes back."
He debated over the idea, on one hand he wants to stay up with you but on the other he was really sleepy. The yawn escaping his mouth was proof of it. And it didn't help that you were running your hand soothingly across his back, you were trying to get him to sleep and he knew it.
Giving in he nodded sleepily, letting you pulled him by the hand to his bedroom.
"Good night Sen," You got an incoherent mumble and a loose hug as your response, he meant well though, he's just really tired.
Sliding his bedroom door shut you stepped back, maybe you should've tried to comfort him more. But what else could you say? Sighing you massaged your temple and walked down the hall.
You should probably head to bed too.
It didn't matter if he came home littered with cuts and bruises, Kyojuro would be worried sick if he found out that you stayed up all night waiting for him. Shaking your head laughing fondly at the memory, still remembering the way he was racing around the place, panicking over the fact that you had a cold.
Taking the scenic route, you walked pass the entrance, wanting to check in one last time. Just in case he came home tonight.
Staying there for a few minute, you sighed disappointedly when you didn't see his oh so familiar red tipped golden hair coming towards you. Guess it's bed for you then.
Breathing out on your freezing hands you walked slowly round the corner, you hoped he was warm where ever he was. As you were about to disappear behind the corner a fire bordered haori appeared in the corner of you eye.
He's home
Spinning around you took a double take, just incase it was your sleep deprived mind playing tricks on you. But no, there he was, standing up with the help of some kakushi but he was there.
"Kyo!"
He wasn't expecting you to be up, his surprise was evident with the way his body straighten out suddenly, trying to walk to you but failing. The two kakushi at his side panicked momentary to catch him, but they sighed in relief when they did.
"(Y/N)? What you doing up? You should be sleeping," He asked when you rushed over to meet them in the middle.
A quick chat with the kakushi brought you up to date, upper moon three had unexpectedly appeared during his mission. Luckily he had manage to hold it in a stand still until sunrise, where the demon fled to hide from the morning sun.
But of course, he suffered some injuries, some more serious than others.
Trapping Kyojuro within your embrace you helped him stand upright in place of the two kakushi, who had already said their farewells and now are just leaving. Once you couldn't hear their footsteps anymore, you buried your head in the crook of his neck.
"My dear what's wrong?"
You but your lip, tightening your arms around him, not wanting to let go incase you actually did fall asleep and this was all just a dream. It never occurred to you how easy it was for you to lose him while he's on a mission miles away, but seeing him stagger in —barely being able to stand by himself and covered in bandages— it shook you body and mind.
Pinching your eyes shut, you ignored the tears rolling down your face and clutched onto the back of his clothing, sending your gratitude to what ever powers that lies above for letting him come home to you and Senjuro.
While the sun rose behind you, the both of you stayed there for a few more minutes. Just soaking in each other's warmth or a little while longer, squeezing him one last time you stepped back a little —you figured it was time for him to get some rest after such a tiring mission.
Kyojuro whined when he couldn't feel your embrace any more, making you giggle and sling his arm over your should to keep him balanced.
"We can cuddle later, right now you need to get some rest," You tried reasoning, laughing when your boyfriend retorted that cuddling you is resting.
Leading him to your shared room, you helped him sit down at the futon and handed him some clothes to change into before rushing off to get some water. Not only for him to drink but to wash away some of the grim they couldn't clean in the rush to cover his wounds.
You'll have to make a quick trip to the butterfly estate to get more salves and gauze, but that didn't matter, Kyo was home now.
Taking one step into your bedroom you burst into a fit of laughter when you walked in on your said boyfriend struggling to get his hair in order, some of it disobeying him entirely and made a crown of spiked up fire-like hair surrounding his head.
Hearing the sound of your laughter, Kyojuro froze and looked up at you as best he can from underneath all the hair falling in front of his face.
While he was being dazzled by you, his grip became loose and now even more of his red tipped locks fell on his face. Spluttering and blowing away some of it, his vision only partly came back when you brushed a portion away. Still chuckling, you continued sweeping away his hair from his eyes.
"There we go," Grabbing a brush, you gently combed through his hair, untangling any knots you find along the way.
Meanwhile Kyojuro sat there obediently and simply enjoyed the feeling of your fingers brushing his hair, humming contently when you message his scalp lightly. He'll say hello to Senjuro in the morning, he didn't want to wake him up in the middle of the night after all.
Feeling your hands move from his hair to his shoulders, he pulled on them to bring you forward, making you press against his back. You propped your chin up against his shoulder, in return he turned slightly to nuzzle his cheek against yours.
Circling your arms around his shoulders you placed a kiss against his temple, intertwining his hands with yours he breathed out.
He was glad to be home.
Tumblr media
The sun was high in the sky by the time Kyojuro woke up again, but he didn't want to just yet. Rolling over to his side, he tried reaching over to hug you, only to grab a pillow instead.
'Wait, this isn't (Y/N).'
Groggily blinking at the pillow, it took him a moment to finally realise that you weren't in bed with him.
Pouting a bit he grunted as he tried sitting up, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, Kyojuro looked around the room to see if you where there or not. Sniffing the air however he smelled someone cooking sweet potatoes, oh he knew where you were.
Tumblr media
"(Y/N)-san! I'm going to clean up the garden," Senjuro said taking off his apron. "I'll go extra fast though! So I can come back when aniki's awake."
Chuckling you set down the knife and pat his head, "Okay but, don't rush yourself Sen."
Leaving with a nod, he went out to do the task while you finished up preparing lunch. Nothing but the quiet thuds of your knife cutting through vegetables could be heard in the kitchen.
While normally you would trust Senjuro to cut the vegetables while you could clean up the house. He's so excited that his brother's home, that he wants to get through his chores as quick as possible, and it was less likely for him to get hurt with a broom than it is a knife.
Speaking of which,
"Good morning my dearest," A voice said behind you while wrapping their arms around your waist.
"It's the afternoon Kyojuro, but yes good morning darling." Looking behind you, you scrunched your face when you were met with a kiss in between your eyebrows.
"Can I help you in anyway?" He asked, like every other time you were in the kitchen, still tilting his head to the side cutely as always.
"No no no, you're injured therefor have to rest," Setting down the knife again, you tried shooing him away back to the bedroom. The attempt was unsuccessful since he simply shuffled to side a lil to avoid your pushing.
Crossing your arms, you and Kyojuro entered a staring match. It was a wonder how you even lasted five seconds against his pleading eyes, sighing you gave up and linked your arms together so you could guide him over to the kitchen counter to help you with the vegetables.
Happy with his new job, he worked by your side, both of your cracking a few jokes here and there or maybe starting up a new conversation.
Finally after roughly half an hour you were done. Wiping down the table, you took off your apron and was about to call Senjuro back for lunch.
"Can you hold something for me?" It was an innocent question, so you went along with it.
"Yeah sure,,,dear that's your hand."
"I know"
Looking up at your boyfriend, who had a cheeky grin on his face, you rolled your eyes at his cheesiness and pecked his cheek so he would let you go for a just little bit. But when you tried walking away you were stopped by Kyojuro still holding your hand.
Huffing affectionately and you let him twirl you back into his arms. "Hun you are being really sweet right now and I think it's absolutely adorable," You started, poking his nose playfully. "But I need to get Senjuro for lunch."
Perking up at the mention of his brother, Kyojuro's eyebrows shot up as he grinned. "Where is he by the way? I tried looking for him but i couldn't find him."
"Aniki!"
Came another voice behind him, swiftly turning around he spotted Senjuro running towards him.
"Right there," You answered too late, the brothers were already hugging. Each had wide grins, and you could maybe see a few tears pricking out of the corners of Senjuro's eyes. You'll wiped his face later, going to set the table you let them have their moment.
It was much too sweet for you to interrupt anyways.
Taking a sip of tea from your cup, you sat at your end of the table gazing at the bright blue sky dotted with fluffy white clouds. What a nice day to be together.

a/n: There's really only three ways this could go, either you help Obanai and escape together or you hide out until the snake demon is killed. Then there's the third option in which you die with the rest of your family. So let's not go with the third option.

"Iguro-san, you know... you never talked about your family before,"
A gentle 'thud' sounded in the room as Obanai set his cup down. They had been eating lunch in the love pillar's estate— more accurately Mitsuri had been eating lunch, Obanai was just happy to be invited.
"Eh! Was that too straight forward?! S-sorry you don't have to-"
"No it's fine,"
Mitsuri immediately covered her mouth with the hand that wasn't holding her chopsticks. Face flushed in embarrassment, 'He thinks I'm weird now, oh no' was her internal dialog.
"I'd rather tell you, than any of the other pillars," he admitted while tugging at the bandages around the lower half of his face.
The snake pillar met eyes with Kaburamaru before shifting down at his still full cup of tea. Taking a deep breath he started,
"I guess it's about time anyways,"
The white snake around his shoulders nodded their head in agreement. With a sigh Obanai slouched forwards and rested his head in the palm of his left hand, the right was gripping the porcelain cup so tightly Mitsuri swore it could break.
"I was born into a family of thieves, low-lives, no good stubborn son-of-a-bitch family,"
There was so much tension and negativity in the air, that Mitsuri had the urge to bat it away.
"Every one of them, none felt any shame on living a life of needless luxury and splendour, built off of the deaths of dozens. They all were the same."
Mitsuri felt sorry for the snake pillar, there was nothing she could do about the past but at least she could comfort him in the present. She was about to reach out a hand but stopped midway when he continued,
"All except for one,"
−○❖○❧ •❁※❁• ☙○❖○−
"I was the first male born in the last 370 years, so I was dotted on by all my sisters, cousins, aunts, and grandmothers."
Fancy and beautifully decorated kimonos were seen on every women in the huge mansion. Their hair was done up and decorated just as heavily as their clothes, every room was flooded with people, making it easier for a certain sibling to slip through the crowd and into the lowest floor of their house.
"They would bring food into the cage I was locked into everyday, the smell of oil was overwhelming,"
A young Obanai was backed into a corner, trying to stay away from all the fried food. He looked at the trays and trays of food with disgust, but it was only a matter of time until he could actually eat some food that was tolerable.
"But there was one,"
"NII-CHAN!"
He immediately looked up from his sleeve and instantly he was met with a face pushed up against the bars of his cage. They were still so small, even standing on their tippy-toes they only manage to reach the second bar.
"Obanii-chan!"
"Shhh, they'll hear you"
The eleven year old gently scolded. What they were doing was dangerous so he was rightfully worried, no one was allowed to come down here without permission. If anyone were to find out then— he didn't know what would happen, but he knew it was nothing good.
They gasped and quickly covered their mouth, "Sorry Nii-chan," How could he stay mad when they were looking up at him with those big innocent eyes.
"It's okay (Y/N),"
"My youngest sibling, (Y/N), was the only person in our wretched family that I actually even consider my sibling"
Through the wooden bars the little child manage to pass their brother a plate of cut fruit, they had prepared it just a few minutes prior— it wasn't very filling but it was much better then all the fried food stuffed into the room.
"Blegh, your room smells like grease Nii-chan,"
Obanai laughed quietly as they tried holding their breath as to not inhale the toxic smelling air, of course they promptly gave up after a few seconds. He only had a few more minutes to talk with (Y/N) so he might as well make them enjoyable.
"Do you like the fruit Obanii-chan? I cut it myself!"
"Did you now? They taste amazing!"
He meant it of course, anything would taste better than the mountain of fried food he was surrounded with, but he did embellish a little— nothing was better than seeing their eyes sparkle as their head was squished up against the wooden lattice.
"They would always bring a plate of cut fruit or sweets they manage to sneak past our mother, we only get to talk for a few minute a day before they have to leave. But those few minutes were the only thing I looked forward to each day."
Obanai watched as his youngest sibling waved at him before climbing the stairs back into the mansion above, a wave of sadness washed over him. Not only did he have to wait all night to see them again but that meant getting through the night in the first place. He shrived alone at the though of eyes following him.
(Y/N) will come again tomorrow. (Y/N) will come again tomorrow.
He kept reminding himself, he just had to get through the night and it was over. It was easier said than done however. The eyes locked onto him and the sound of movement around him kept Obanai up at night, it would all be worth it at sunrise however. When his littlest sibling would come again for a visit.
"They were so different from the rest of our family. Never have I met someone to this day, that was as kind and thoughtful as they were."
This time they were sitting down as close as they could get to Obanai with the wooden bars separating them. (Y/N) had something special to show him, they said.
"What is it (Y/N)?"
"Look! Look Nii-chan!"
In their palm was a bunch of colourful flowers, all different shapes and sizes. A lone clover sat on top of the pile they carried,
"It's a clover Obanii-chan! Isn't it pretty?"
They handed it over to Obanai, who looked over the flower with confusion. He couldn't understand why his youngest sibling loved this flower so much, it didn't even look like a flower, it was just leaves in shape of hearts. But maybe it was an okay flower, how bad could it be if (Y/N) liked it so much.
"Very pretty, hey look it matches your kimono (Y/N)"
He was right, their kimono was covered in clovers, it was a simple pattern with a simple colour scheme. Another thing he liked about them, they didn't wear the overly flashy and bright clothing the other women of the household wore. It always made his eyes hurt.
"For some reason they loved flowers, clovers especially. So one day I started calling them just that, little clover."
"Why are you mad at me?"
Obanai was at a lost, he didn't know why they were pouting angrily at him. They even had their arms crossed. Everything was going just fine, they were smily and giggly like they always were and then suddenly they were angry at him. What did he do wrong?
"dON'T CALL ME THAT OBANII-CHAAAN," They complained.
"Call you what??"
"Little clover! I hate it!"
(Y/N) pouted, they were getting so worked up that their face was turning red.
"Why? It's cute," he tried to reason. After all it was very cute.
They weren't falling for it however and continued pouting even going as far as huffing a bit at their older brother. It wasn't until Obanai rolled his eye did they stopped.
"Fine, fine I won't call you little clover,"
Just as (Y/N) was about to cheer victoriously Obanai reached out both his hands between the bars. Placing both at the side of their face,
"I'll call you clever clover instead,"
He decided, and (Y/N) couldn't even be mad, they were much too busy enjoying their brother running his fingers through their hair to complain. With the wooden bars separating them, they couldn't really give each other much physical affection so this was much better then nothing.
"Clever clover,"
You know what, (Y/N) thought, I like this nickname much better.
"Them being by my side made the years much more tolerable. It wasn't until my twelve birthday did I even think about escaping,"
(Y/N) covered their mouth as to not let a single peep out, they couldn't get caught, not now. It was only a few minutes ago did they catch a glimpse of their brother being dragged out of his cage and into a room, they grew worried immediately. Not because they could get caught no, but because they knew what was inside that room.
They didn't make a move until they heard someone screaming, it wasn't a conscious choice, they just couldn't help running over. They couldn't just sit at the sidelines— especially not when they recognise that scream to be Obanai's.
Luckily for them someone carelessly left the door open, so they peaked in to see what was happening. Maybe they shouldn't have.
"I was the only who saw them standing by the doorway. Never had I felt more dread then I did that day, I rushed to think that they would never want to see me after what happened that day. That they would see me as the same monster that our family worshiped."
Obanai held the hairpiece in his hand that he manage to steal. This was his only chance, if he didn't do it now then there wasn't going to be a second chance. As he was picking at the wooden lattice he heard footsteps coming down the stairs, instantly his blood froze over.
"They had caught me in the middle of trying to escape,"
Looking up he expected the snake demon or one of his other family members, but there they were. Little (Y/N). They had a look in their eyes that he had never seen before, it was a fire. But not the same he would usually see when they successfully sneaked pass their sisters again, this was different.
"I thought for sure they would rush up and tell on me to the others,"
They walked slowly to where Obanai was kneeling, he tried to hide his work but they already caught sight of the small dent he had made in the lattice. He gulped, scared to think that the one person he considered family was going to be the one who marked his demise.
"I was foolish to even think such a thing,"
(Y/N) giggled softly and Obanai could only gawk at them, they opened their palm clearly asking him to hand over the hair piece.
"You're getting no where with that Nii-chan, here give it to me,"
He was hesitant, but handed it over. Praying to whatever gods are up there to not let his precious little clover be like the rest of their family. To his surprise they caught his hand before he could pull it back.
"This'll work much better,"
They slipped something into his palm before pushing it back to him. Curiously he opened his hand, only to be further surprised to see another hair piece— this one was different however. The end was sharpen to a point, the sides were much sharper as well, no way this was how (Y/N) had found it.
It was much too sharp to be a hair piece their sisters would use, if someone were to put this in their hair then surely their scalp would bleed. Obanai looked up at his sibling questioningly and they cheekily responded with a wink.
"They had been sharping the hair piece for ages now from the looks of it, they knew that I was going to escape before I even fully thought of if,"
When he finally came to this conclusion too, the young Obanai looked up at his sibling in wonder. They watched as his eyes curved upwards lightly, they knew he was smiling at them but how they wished they could actually see him smile again.
Reaching out his hands at them again he softly stroked their face,
"Clever clover,"
−○❖○❧ •❁※❁• ☙○❖○−
"With (Y/N)'s help I manage to escape that night, but the snake demon had figured it out sooner then we thought,"
Mitsuri watched as his shoulders drop, even without him saying it outright she already knew what had happened.
"Iguro-san,,,"
"51 people died that night,"
She gasped and swiftly held her hand to her lips. She knew something bad was about to happen but never did she expect so much of it.
"After I was rescued I tried waiting all night for someone to come out with (Y/N),"
Kaburamaru sensed his distressed and pressed their head against his bandaged cheek, they too know of the youngest Iguro sibling. They especially missed their excellent chin scratches.
"But no one ever did,"
He stared down at the cup of tea in his hands, he was already dreading sleeping tonight. Just closing his eyes now he can call back all the screams and shrieks coming from the mansion behind him, it makes his sick to think that one of them was his little sibling and he didn't even realise.
Just like his family his blood was dirty and tainted.
But he was sure that only he had the sins passed down onto him and none went to (Y/N), after all what kind of elder brother wouldn't realise it was his own sibling that was screaming. Most likely screaming for his help, calling his name for him to come save them.
God, what kind of a brother was he.
"Iguro-san, Kaburamaru-san, are you alright?"
His head suddenly snapped up to her, how long was he spacing out?
"Yes, I'm fine, don't worry about us Kanroji,"
"Are you sure? Kaburamaru-san's crying,,,"
What? He looked down to check, and she was indeed telling the truth. There were tiny tears in the corner of their eyes, ah he should have known talking about (Y/N) would make them just as upset. Maybe it wasn't a good idea bringing them up in front of Kaburamaru.
"Iguro-san?"
"Hm?"
"You have tears in your eyes,"
Ah fuck. Obanai quickly brought his palm up to wipe his eyes, damn it he wasn't suppose to cry. He coughed to try and change the subject quickly,
"I- yes that's all,"
Mitsuri's heart dropped and her eyebrows went slanted, she wanted to try and comfort him more, but she was worried she would make things awkward. But then a light bulb went off,
"Iguro-san, I-uh when ever i miss my siblings-" she stopped to see if she has crossed a line, but seeing there was no discomfort in his face she carried on. "I would talk about them, what they look like and how cute they are! I uhh thought maybe it would make you feel better too?"
Her eyes flickered between the empty bowls beside her to Obanai, she didn't cross a line didn't she? He wasn't mad at her right? Oh god what if he was mad at her—
"They-"
Obanai tried to start but he grew nervous and stopped before he could embarrass himself further. She didn't want him to ramble on about a person she didn't know after all. Right?
"Eh?! Nonono please continue Iguro-san! I want to hear more about them,"
He felt his cheeks flush but quickly hid them by pulling his bandages up. Coughing awkwardly again as he tried calming his heart rate,
"(Y/N) was around three I think when they first snuck in to see me, I think it was more of an accident but they kept coming back and soon they started bringing me stuff. At first it was just some pieces of sweets but then they started bringing in actual plates of food when they saw me not eat anything-"
Mitsuri smiled fondly as she listened to him ramble on about his sibling, seemingly in one breath. Oh she hopes he remembers to breath once in a while. It wasn't normally him that was rambling on about a subject and her being the attentive ear, but it was a pleasant change.
Never had she been more glad to ask Obanai to join her for lunch.
−○❖○❧ •❁※❁• ☙○❖○−
'It's been a few weeks since that lunch with Iguro-san'
Mitsuri thought to herself, she was on her was the training rounds where she would be meeting up with her fellow pillars— including the as aforementioned snake pillar. But something wasn't feeling right to her.
She and Obanai had spent roughly two hours talking back and forth about his beloved sibling, and no matter how much she tried focusing on the admiration she held for him talking about his sibling so fondly. Something just didn't feel right.
So far she had pin-pointed this strange feeling to his description of (Y/N). (H/C) hair and (E/C) eyes,,,, she swore that sounded familiar. But she just can't place her finger on it.
Oh well, no time to worry about that now, if she didn't hurry then she'll arrive late. With that sudden motivation she picked up her pace and ran all the way to the training grounds.
The reason why the pillars were meeting there was because they were tasked to check in with all the younger slayers, see if they were all properly trained or not. And some pillars, mostly Kyojuro, they were looking to find a new tsuguko.
"Hello! Sorry I'm late!"
Mitsuri greeted the pillars who were already watching the slayers. Giyuu and Muichiro had to be on a mission currently, but it seems they're the only pillars that are absent.
"Ah Kanroji! You weren't late at all! Come there are some very promising slayers,"
The ever enthusiastic flame pillar greeted her first, and after quickly saying 'hi', she took her place beside Obanai who waved in greeting. Ohhh she couldn't wait to see the potential the newer slayers had, she was just shaking with excitement.
Scanning the area she watched as slayers reunited with each other after long missions, some were training with the wooden swords provided and others where just chatting with their friends.
But she had to do a double-take on a particular slayer, they were doing stretches while talking to what seems to be their friends. Has she seen them before? They looked familiar all right.
"Hm"
"Do any of them look interesting Kanroji?"
"aH!"
She turned sharply to face Kyojuro, whoops didn't mean to say that out loud.
"A-ah I didn't mean to say that out loud, it's nothing,"
She brushed it off laughing, but she couldn't help flush red in embarrassment. Obanai on the other hand glared daggers at the slayers that dared look at her wrong, he wasn't so pleased to see a slayer had made Misturi so flustered.
Kyojuro shrugged and went back to his conversation with Uzui, to which made Misturi sigh in relief, right so where was that slayer again?
"OI YOU!"
Immediately heads snapped to the centre of the training grounds. There was standing a broad and tall slayer, he looked to be quiet muscular. Mitsuri would think he was promising if it weren't for the pretentious energy he held.
Obanai meanwhile rolled his eyes and scoffed to Sanemi, as they both complained about egotistical slayers they didn't notice what's happening on the field.
Mitsuri and the other pillars on the other hand, kept their focus on the broad slayer.
"You there! The one without a haori!"
Truth be told, there were a lot of slayer there that weren't wearing a haori, but since he kept point at one slayer in particular it was pretty easy to see which slayer he meant.
"I have a name thank you sir i-destroy-the-peace,"
"Oh I like that one~" Mitsuri heard Shinobu quip beside her.
"Yeah? Well I heard you took out ten demons last night, single handedly, how bout you admit you were spreading lies and we can more right along ey?"
Ten demons?? No wonder the slayer thought they were lying. She exchanged glances with Shinobu and Kyojuro, but she can't tell if they believe it or not.
"Oh?~ Well why don't I prove to you that I did and you pretend this never happened?"
Whispers started circling around the training grounds, slowly the slayers that were sparing slowly backed off and stood at the side lines instead. From her place she could hear them talking about something along the lines of;
"Sōta shouldn't mess with them," "Oi! Get off the training ground Sōta's bout to get his ass kicked," "Ohh this is gonna be good!"
Misturi looked at her fellow pillars in concern, but Gyomei didn't seem too concern, Uzui and Shinobu was just interested to see the fight, so she calmed considerably, that was until the challenged slayer turned their head and she caught a glimpse of a clover hair pin in their hair.
No way.
She nervously glanced at the two slayers lining up to spare and at Obanai who was still talking to Sanemi about god knows what. Ohh should she tell him? What if that isn't (Y/N) though? He did mention no one bringing them out,,
"Iguro-san!" she heard herself whisper to the snake pillar.
What was she doing??
"Yes?"
Mitsuri tried frantically making body gestures from him to look at the field as the slayer who she's convinced is (Y/N) hands their clover hair pin to a friend, but Obanai just kept his eyes locked on to her. Which usually made her admire him more, maybe even fall for him harder, but right now it wasn't the ideal time.
"Just!" giving up she grabbed his shoulders and spun him to face the training field, "LOOK!"
She pointed straight at who she thinks is (Y/N), she was right on time too as the fight was about to start. Mitsuri took a peak at Obanai and was happily surprised to see his eyes were wide open. And she swore that she heard him utter; "(Y/N)".
Before he could go and comfort the presumed (Y/N), the signal blew indicating the start of the match. And none of the pillar were ready for how fast it was over, they had been expecting a slow and childish fight, but they didn't even have anytime to react.
Kyojuro has to blink twice and rub his eye to make sure they were working, even then he didn't trust what he saw.
"Please tell me I'm not the only one seeing this,"
"DID THAT GUY EVEN TRY???"
Was Sanemi's answered, and Kyojuro was sure that yes he wasn't seeing things.
Mitsuri and Obanai wasn't sure how to react, the slayer who they presumed to be (Y/N) was seated on top of Sōta with both of their wooden katana's in hand. They were smugly leaning back and twirled one of the wooden swords in their hands as Sōta continues to be unable to get up.
"So~ Does this mean I win or?"
The only response they got was a groan, "Meh good enough"
They got up and pat Sōta's head mockingly with a 'good fight' before returning the two wooden swords and returning to their friend, Who looked too happy to witness them kicking butt.
As Sōta's friends carried him off the grounds and slayers started leaving the training grounds, the pillars where still standing there speechless.
"What,,, just happened" Uzui
"THAT'S A PROMISING SLAYER RIGHT THERE" Kyojuro
"Ara Ara~ If none of you take them as your tsuguko by the end of the day then I guess I'll take them as a second tsuguko," Shinobu
Mitsuri snapped out of her daze first and noticed that all of the slayers had already left, panicked she shook Obanai.
"Iguro-san! Iguro-san! They're gone!"
That was enough to bring him back to earth too, immediately he started searching the grounds with her. But they came out with nothing, maybe that wasn't (Y/N) after all. Maybe Mitsuri had seen the wrong slayer, oh she felt terrible.
"Iguro-san?"
She turned to the snake pillar, who along with Kaburamaru looked deflated. Placing her hand on his shoulder she tried again,
"Iguro-san?"
Finally he looked up to meet her eyes, but they were even more sad than what she was used to.
'Dammit Mitsuri what did you do??' she scolded herself but before she could berate herself farther, she felt a hand on hers.
Looking up she saw Obanai's hand on top of hers, surprised she met his eyes again. They were just as sad but she could tell he was smiling behind his bandages. Even though it was a small one.
"It's alright Kanroji, thank you for trying"
He nodded at her before stepping back and turning around, preparing to head back to his own estate and maybe take a looong nap to get his head back in order. Mitsuri still felt terrible but she knew that the best thing was to let him rest for now.
Maybe she could get a gift to say she's sorry? Would that be too much? No he likes her gifts,,,right? Yes she's pretty sure he does.
Her ramped string of thoughts were cut short when she heard Obanai gasp. In fact the other pillar's conversations were stopped as well when they heard the sound, curious to see what happened.
Peaking around him she could see—
The slayer they were looking for???
She never realised this until she looked at them up close, they really did look similar to Obanai. Maybe this was (Y/N) after all!
The slayer looked up from fiddling their hands and smiled at Obanai, which itself was weird to any bystanders watching, but that was nothing compared to-
"Hi Obanii-chan, I missed you"
There were instantly stunned cries from the behind them. Not that Obanai cares anyways, he took a step forward and got a closer look at the slayer.
They looked right back at him, it's been nine years since they've last seen him, and like their brother they too have changed a lot over the years. So much in fact they were scared that Obanai wouldn't recognise them at all. But as if he would let some changed facial features or additional scars keep him from recognise his little sibling.
Obanai looked over their face one more time, they looked so mature now. Face and eyes harden by years of fighting alone, but he could still see it. The light in their eyes, even though it may be dimmed, it's still as he remembered them. His little clever clover.
He let out a breathy laugh and reached out to touch their face again, just like he did years ago. The moment they felt his hand stroke their face and running through their hair, (Y/N) started tearing up. It's been so long.
"Clever clover,"
Instantly he activated the water works and (Y/N) started out right bawling their eyes out,
"NII-CHAN"
Their voice quaked as they dived into Obanai's open arms, immediately he hugged back them in return. It was about time he actually hugged them, they never could with the lattice separating them. But there wasn't a wooden lattice anymore, there wasn't a snake demon waiting outside the door, or meddling family members hiding around every corner.
"I missed you too (Y/N),"
It was hard for the snake pillar to maintain control over his tears, so he resorted to blinking his eyes faster. Maybe they would dry out. Yeah that didn't happen, but its not like it mattered to (Y/N) that their uniform was getting wet. They would apologies to Obanii-chan later anyways, they probably got his haori soaked.
When they get back to Obanai's estate they swore they heard him utter something but he denied it constantly. Oh well, maybe they'll figure it out one day;
"Welcome home, clever clover..."

'Close calls in thunder storms' || T.Giyuu x reader
Tumblr media
Pairing: T.Giyuu x reader
Summary: Every mission a demon slayer goes on is never a guaranteed success, even if two pillar were on said mission, there were bound to be some sort of casualties. Some big some small, unfortunately on this one it's the former.
Words: 2,5K words
Warnings: Angst followed by fluff. TW! Lighting and thunder, Blood, stitches, and injuries are mentioned in this fic. Canon typical violence. Not proof-read.
Gender neutral reader!
a/n: this has been in my back up for so long it's honestly a miracle it's not done yet.
Tumblr media
A soft 'tink' of metal hitting the forest floor reached his ear. But so did the sound of pouring rain, it blocked out any signs that other human beings were in the forest with him. The only thing telling him that the demon was slain was the faint scent of ash mixed in with the damp earth he was laying on.
Unfortunately it wasn't just rain water that was soaked the earth.
Sparks of lighting lit up his surroundings, and behind his half lidded eyes he could make out the faint silhouette of the looming trees. Bending under the pressure of the thick curtain of rain, a different liquid started building up in his throat and Giyuu flinched at the feeling.
Turning his head he tried coughing it out, his body shaking with the earth as loud cracks of thunder followed the flashing lights.
It hurt his torso as he hacked up whatever was the thing blocking his airway, but it was either that or suffocating. He could tell there were multiple wounds scattered across his entire body, some were minor cuts but most were bleeding out. Coating the dirt with a layer of blood. And more was about to be added to the puddle surrounding him.
Red droplets came spluttering out his mouth, the sharp taste of iron filled his senses.
Blood. He was coughing out blood.
Groaning, both in pain and in annoyance, this wasn't good.
With great effort he tired moving his arm, or at least his hand. So he could maybe get up and look for you, it was a joint mission after all. But alas his struggle didn't pay off, his arm had gone completely num, the most he could do was twitch his fingers ever so slightly.
The water pillar sighed, but even that started to become a chore.
Breathing was getting harder, every time he inhaled it made his wounds act up and more blood would start clogging up his oesophagus. That demon must've gotten him good, he didn't even remember where he could've gotten hit. He had been too focused on the task at hand to fuss over any of injuries he's sustained, maybe he should have.
Now, the only thing he could do really was wait until he passed out from blood loss or until you came to find him. Which ever comes first, and Giyuu hoped it was the later, just so he could see you one last time before he succumbed to his wounds.
Past the heavy rain he could vaguely make out the stars hiding behind the dark clouds, you would love it. With a shaking breath, his eyelids slowly dropped until they closed completely.
Nearly tripping over a tree root, you stopped to look around and brush your soaking wet hair out of your face.ot when you had his split haori clutched in your hands.
"GIYUU!?! please be okay,,,,"
A mission was never guarantied to come out with a demon dead and both slayers intact, not even when the mission had two hashiras assigned to it. You knew this and yet it still shook your very core whenever it becomes the fact of the mission.
Nearly tripping over a tree root, you stoped to look around and brush your soaking wet hair out of your face.
"Giyuu!!"
Even screaming at the top of your lungs didn't breach the deafening sounds of heavy rain hitting the forest floor.
Squinting past the raindrops, you couldn't see him anywhere near you so not wanting to waste anymore time, you shook your head and turned on your heel. Maybe he was west instead of east.
"GIYUU!!"
Nearby kakushi were watching at you dart around, looking for your lost lover. None of them had the heart to tell you to stop, that the chance of Giyuu being alive may be zero to none.
One did, but the moment they saw your horror stricken expression, they backed down and let you continue on your search. Everyone in the demon slayer corps knew the feeling of losing a loved one, so if there was even the minuscule possibility that he was alive, then why take it away from you.
"Giyuu,"
Another ten minutes go by and tears started pricking out from the corner of your eyes, the air was damp all around you but your throat felt hoarse from all the screaming you've been doing.
"Please,,," You blubbered out, sinking down to your knees. The feeling of dread started sinking in, and as you held his haori to your chest thoughts of him flashed in your head.
The imagery of never seeing him greet you in pillar meetings again, or not catching a glimpse of his smile while he ate his favourite dish. It broke your heart to think that this morning would be the last time you woke up with him by your side. Or the last time you felt his embrace, the way your chest would feel light as air whenever he enveloped you in his arms, would you ever feel that again? Would you ever feel his lips pressing against your own again?
More tears slid down your cheeks, they were indistinguishable form the rain drops falling with them. But as you gripped onto his split haori, Giyuu's familiar scent wafted past the smell of damp earth. You catch the faint undertones of the lavenders hung up in your room to help Giyuu sleep, a hint of the ocean; a scent that always followed him around. It usually would make you smile and giggle, but right now it made you want to cry.
Knowing that after arriving back home, the scent would surely fade away without him.
You can't lose him, you just can't.
Vigorously rubbing away the tears and rainwater away from your eyes, you stood up and with a new found determination you started to run again.
"GIYUU!!" You shouted as loud as you could, past the pouring rain you kept running. As long as you were making some sort of ground then you kept going, you had no idea where you were going but you weren't stopping anytime soon.
Suddenly, you heard a soft cawing. One all too familiar to your ears.
Skidding to a stop, you looked around to try and find where the sounds was coming from. If you find find Kanzaburo then there's a chance you'd find Giyuu, and you would take said chance over running blindly around the dark woods.
Perking up after hearing a louder caw, you turn ninety degrees and headed in the new direction. With every step you took the noises got louder and louder, despite your better judgement your hope started to build higher and higher. And then, after what seems like a few seconds of running.
There.
From afar you could see the outline of his raven locks and the dark uniform he wore, along with an all too recognizable crow sitting at his side.
The dirt around his limp body was dark, and you didn't even want to think about just how much was his. Dropping to your knees, your hand flew to check on his wounds. There were scratches and bruises forming on his arm, but by far the worst was the three large gashes in his side.
You quickly pulled off you own haori to make a make-shift gauze, just to stop him from losing even more blood then he already has.
Putting pressing against his wound with one hand, your other went up to the side of his neck. After momentarily panicking when you couldn't find his pulse, you eventually found it, it was faint but there was a heart beat.
"Giyuu? Giyuu, my love, please stay with me."
Gliding your fingers up to grime covered cheeks, your thumb gently caressed the dirt away from his cheek bone. Whimpering when you didn't get a response, you shuffled closer and leaned your forehead against his. Silently praying that you had arrived in time.
"(Y/N)?" Gasping you immediately pulled back, meeting with deep blue eyes a weight was lifted away from your shoulders.
"Oh thank goodness, Giyuu can you keep your eyes open for just a bit longer? Can you do that for me love?"
Your voice was a little blurry in his ears, dulled by heavy rain still surrounding the forest. But he manage to make out a few words, nodding weakly Giyuu rolled his head to the side. Wanting to lay on your lap like he did after waking up from a nightmare, he just need you close.
Reading his body language verily quick, you sent both your crow and Kanzaburo to get help, while making quick work of the make-shift gauze to cover Giyuu's most severe injury.
He whimpered as the gash started to sting as the rain water seeped past the cloth you were applying pressure to.
Which in turn made you wince, still applying pressure to the wound, you used your other arms to bring him into your lap. Hoisting his upper body to lean up against your own, you were getting increasingly desperate and tried anything you could think off to hopefully keep him from losing anymore blood.
It should only take a few minute for help to arrive right? You can keep Giyuu stable till then, right?
As your head was building up with nerves, Giyuu took notice to your frantic behavior. And taking a page out of your own book, he used all his remaining energy to lift his arm and shakily brushed his fingers across your cheek. Trying to ground you as you had to him many times before,
"I'm still here, I'm going to be okay." His voice was crackly but through his fading vision he could tell you were hanging on to every word. "We'll be okay."
Nodding slowly, you leaned into Giyuu's hand. Hearing steps comings towards you and the cawing of crows, it brought you at ease. "Yeah, we'll be okay."
Running your hand through his hair, you kept him close until Giyuu let his eyes fall shut. And by the time his breath evened out, kakushi were surrounding the area and taking out med supplies. Two of which kneeled by your side, ready to treat Giyuu. So you laid him down at stepped back, letting them do their work.
As you did so Kanzaburo and your crow landed on either sides of your shoulders.
Scratching your's under their chin, you waited by the side lines. Some kakushi's walked up to you offering salves or ointment for your own cuts and bruises, and while you politely declined — saying that it was alright and you could be healed later on at the butterfly estate — you tried helping in what ever way you could. Cleaning up what ever mess the demon left behind, even though the kakushi insisted that you should rest, being a hashira doesn't mean you could just leave all the dirty work for them. So you liked to hang around a little bit longer to lighten the load a bit.
Tumblr media
"Stay still yuu, you're going to pull out your stitches,"
Gently pushing his shoulders back, you tried to keep Giyuu laying down by tucking in the blankets at his side. Not tightly of course, his injuries were steal healing after all.
"I can eat by myself (Y/N)" He tried to insist, but seeing your raised eyebrow he shifted his eyes away from you all around the room nervously.
"Sure you can love," You jested playfully, picking up a spoon of the vegetable broth you brought it to lips to blow on it, making sure it was cool enough to not burn his tongue. "Open wide."
Admitting defeat, Giyuu leaned up and finally allowed you to feed him the soup. Him nearly dropping the whole tray on himself the last he tried was the last straw, and besides it felt better this way. After finishing his meal, you manage to sneak in a wisteria pill in his mouth, just incase some poison made its way into his system.
Scrunching up his face at the sudden shift in flavours, he looked at you in disdain. Which was quickly erased after you landed a quick peck to his cheek.
"Happier now yuu?"
Ignoring the ever growing blush setting across his face, he nodded and laid back down on his pillow. But not before scooting over slightly, trying to silently tell you to come lay down with him.
Giyuu's attempts were in vain however, you were much too focused on checking over his bandages, making sure everything was in its place.
So he decided to wait a bit more, hoping that maybe afterwards you would noticed the cold side of his bed and join him under the covers. Once again you didn't notice, not even giving it a second thought, you actually asked him to move over to the middle as to not leave as much room empty.
That didn't work as well as he had hoped.
Pouting to himself, Giyuu watched as you left the room with the empty tray in hand, sadden by the loss of your company and laid there silently staring up at the ceiling. Not long after you headed out of the room however, Giyuu heard muffled bickering.
"Shinobu just hand me the tray-"
"Nonono, I insist (Y/N)~ This is my estate after all, you go ahead and make sure Tomioka isn't so sad looking over there, it's really raining on everyone else's parade"
The butterfly pillar snatched the empty dishes out of your grasp as quickly as possible, all the while shoving you back into his room again. Of course not leaving without a cheeky 'don't have too much fun now!' before closing the door with a snap.
Rolling your eyes at your friend's antics, you were about to head out once again and pry those dishes out of Shinobu's hands so you could wash them yourself, until a quiet cough grabbed your attention. Spinning on your heal you faced Giyuu, who was looking at you intently.
"Is your throat dry Giyuu? I can get some water if you want?"
"No I'm fine," Shaking his head, looking down at the blanket — trying very hard to convey what he wanted through his eyes alone. "Could you? Uh."
"Could I what yuu?" You tried coaxing, making your way over to him in fast steps.
Seeing him open and close his mouth again in a cycle, you watched in amused confusion as Giyuu tried getting his point across. Eventually, he gave up trying to portray want he meant with words, instead he opened his arms, begging you to lie down with him.
It took a few beats, but you finally understood. Cooing at how soft he was when asking for some snuggles, you easily slipped underneath the covers and into his arms. "Did you just want some cuddles my love?"
Folding his arms around you, Giyuu breathed in the comforting scent of your shampoo and nodded into your hair. Feeling him trying to huddle closer to you, you giggled and hugged his torso, being careful to not touch his healing wounds in the process.
"They're all your's yuu, you can have all the cuddles you want." Mumbling in his chest, you felt him smile faintly, pressing a very soft kiss against your hairline right after.

Outside the world was dusted with a thick layer of chilly snow, as the earth and the animals all took to rest this winter morning, you decided to join them.
Wrestling your arms out of their blanket confinement, you let them flop down to rest outstretched above you head. Squinting at the window beyond the head of your futon, it seems to be roughly noon already. And your gurgling stomach seems to agree.
You yawned as you slowly sat up, making all the blankets fall off you body and into a heap in your lap.
"Good morning," A groggy voice said beside you, still husky from sleep.
Once you connected the dots onto who the voice belonged to, you immediately broke out into dopey smile and turned to your lover. Who was rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, dropping one hand across the pillow and the other on his chest he blinked up at you, trying to get his vision to focus on you most likely disheveled state.
It took a moment, but Sanemi eventually got a clear view of the beautiful sight before him.
Matching your dazed grin with his own, he held his arms open, indicating you to lay back down in bed with him.
With your brain still hazy from last night's sleep, you decided against getting up and making breakfast for the both of you — or maybe lunch at this point— and instead you reached out to your boyfriend. Letting your body gradually fall into his open arms.
Rolling his eyes, Sanemi took a hold of your elbows and pulled you down in his chest.
Sharing goofy grins you both snuggled back into bed, the blankets were strewed about at your hips and they were knocked off even further away as Sanemi locked his leg with yours. The poor blankets were left forgotten about while you became a mess of entangled limbs, you'll remember about them eventually, when one of you get a bit too cold to sleep without it.
For now though, the two of you can keep each other warm.
Letting out another yawn, you wrapped your arms tightly around his chest and pressed your cheek against his shoulder. Sapping his warmth you slowly began to drift off to sleep again.
He waited until he felt your breath even out, and once he made sure you were asleep, Sanemi pulled back slightly, chuckling when you unconsciously whined at the loss of your heat source. Fixing his hold on you, he used the arm you were currently using as your personal pillow to guide you head to lay against his chest.
Making as little movement as possible, he pulled the blanket back up to hide you from the cold winter air.
When he did, Sanemi got comfortable himself. Looking at how soft you were pressed up to his chest, he smiled and leaned his own head on top of yours. Bringing up his free hand, he carefully tucked back a lock of hair that was blocking his view of your features.
Now being able to see you in all your gorgeousness, he couldn't help but brush his finger tips against every curve and dip of your face. Quietly admiring the beautiful scene in front of him.
His breath hitched when your face scrunched up, trying to get away from the thing tickling you, you buried your head deeper in his chest.
Softly a laugh escaped past his lips and Sanemi caressed your cheek with his thumb instead, pressing a kiss to your forehead in apology. You seemed to forgive him after that though, as your shoulders drooped back down again you relaxed again — leaning to follow his touch on the side of your face.
Continuing with his previous actions, Sanemi watched your chest heaved with every breath you took. And slowly he felt sleep taking a hold of him too.
Blinking sleepily, he pulled you close to him and tucked your head just under his. Placing one last kiss to the crown of your head, he shut his eyes and fell asleep with you once again.

"Good morning Giyuu-san!"
The same voice greeted him everyday. Be it morning, afternoon, or evening, you would always acknowledge him everytime. Without fail. At first it unnerved him, Giyuu wasn't used to someone paying so much attention to him, but that all changed when you waltz into his life one pillar meeting.
"Tomioka Giyuu, the water hashira right? I'm (L/N) (Y/N)! I hope we can work well together in the near future, Tomioka-san."
Is what you said to him after Oyakata-sama introduced you as the newest pillar. You seemed to greet everyone else the same way, so he never though much of it. But then you kept doing it, not caring if he actually actually answered you or not. It felt weird at first, having someone willingly talk to him on a daily basis.
Yet when he did finally got used to it, he was surprised to find himself excited whenever you would walk up to him. Waiting for you to say 'good morning' like you always did, and maybe if he had enough confidence he could ask you to tell him about your day,
Those days are what he looked forward to the most.
Everytime you started rambling on about something funny that happened on your way back from a mission, or maybe a new flower you saw on the side of the road. No matter what nonsense you were spewing out to him, Giyuu would always listen, looking at you like you stringed up the stars in the sky.
It's only when he let his mind drift that his shoulders started to drop.
He looked over your figure bursting with excitement, still chattering about the cute kitten that nuzzled up against you a few moments ago. Hands gesturing wildly in glee, and your eyes darting around the room. But they always come back to him, no matter what else catches your attention.
Was he really worth your time? Maybe not.
"Giyuu-san!"
Your familiar voice called out to him again, footsteps rushed to him after the meeting had ended. You were ready to tell him all about the mission you just finished, but as you reached out to him.
He took a step back.
Looking at you with an all to familiar dead-panned expression before walking away. Your attention would be better off given to someone better then him.
Tumblr media
Another thing he noticed about you were your smiles, he always received them. Whenever you were too busy to chat, you would send him a smile in apology.
If asked, he couldn't pin point a single moment where you weren't smiling at him, sometimes he wondered if you were even capable of frowning. Not like he would actively test his theory, he would rather fight an upper moon before intentionally hurting you in anyway shape of form. He loved your smile, he would never want to make it disappear.
So why did it sting everytime you would smile at him?
Giyuu could feel his heart skip a beat everytime you would perk up after seeing him, but right after it would always clench. He never connected it to the feeling of longing, his own body yearning to be the one making you smile every second of the day, just so he can feel the rush of dopamine everytime you laughed.
Instead he thought it was because his own heart knew that you were too good for him, the butterflies in his stomach made him nauseous from all the guilt he was harbouring for pulling you away from the life you could have, the one without him selfishly stealing all your care and affection.
And so no matter how much it hurt him, Giyuu would looked away.
Whenever you tried smiling at him, or wave at him, or do the things you do that would make his heart flutter. He would turn away.
It hurts him greatly yes. There wasn't a skip in his heartbeat anymore, just tugs of pain. The clenching was still there, but now it felt like someone was playing his heart like a drum. On somedays it felt like his heart was about to shatter underneath all the pressure, but he didn't claw at his chest as to not alert you.
He knew how kind you were. And how attentive you were about the people you care about, and while he thinks he doesn't deserve to be on that list. If he did show any signs of pain then you would definitely rush over to him, checking if he had any wounds or maybe even the tiniest of scratches.
You were always looking out for him, rain or shine.
But he didn't want you wasting your energy on him, those bandages and salves you used on him could've been for someone else who needed then more. Or maybe they could've been used on your own wounds instead, that would've been a better use than him.
What Giyuu didn't know however, was while his back turned everytime you tried smiling at him. The smile would slowly slide off your face, and the sullen look replacing it would get deeper with every passing day.
Tumblr media
"Another letter from (L/N) (Y/N), to,,, who?"
Giyuu quickly picked up his crow before it could fly off to someone else with his letter. Another letter from you was it? He felt giddy when he saw your name written in ink on the front , you always wrote him letters every few days or so, and he was always looking forward to receiving each and every one.
He poured himself a cup of tea and sat down at his desk, it was always a treat to read your letters, each one was a good story just waiting to be read.
Was it about a new breathing form you were trying to perfect? Maybe about a new ramen shop you liked and thought to recommend to him. And he loved the ones where you were bragging about kicking Sanemi's butt in a sparring match, they were always so funny to read.
Today's was about a koi pond you found on your way back home.
It was adorable really to see you ramble on about each fish and their different patterns. He was just finishing the part where you were thinking about bringing some cut up fruit for the little fishies, when he reached the final part of your letter.
"How are you doing recently Giyuu-san?"
You always asked about his well being at the end of every letter, wondering about his previous mission or reminding him to eat and take care of himself. And he listened every time, always remembering to get something to eat after he was done with the letter.
But it was those questions, asking about his well-being and his day, that made him consider writing you a letter back.
He's done it multiple times before. Reading about your adventures gave him the urge to write back, at least giving you something in return for taking your time to write him a letter in the first place. With each letter he wrote, they got longer and longer. It used to be simple replies, like "I'm doing well," or "The last mission was successful". But as time went on he started writing full on paragraphs back just as you have, and he found enjoyment out of it.
Especially when you wrote back right away. Expressing how glad you were that he was doing well, or warning him not to push himself if you saw that he was training too much.
So Giyuu picked up his brush and dipped it in ink, readying it in front of a piece of paper, he was just about to write back. Telling you he was doing fine and maybe ask you to bring him to the koi pond you found-
But would you want that?
The tip of the brush hovered in the air, his hand frozen in thought. What if you just asked to be nice? You probably didn't want to seem rude by not asking, and wasn't really expecting a reply. But you wrote him the letter, why would you write it if you didn't want a reply?
His two sides were colliding in his head. On one side he was over thinking everything in the letter, you were a nice person and just didn't want him to be excluded from the group. But doesn't that mean you care just as much? The other side would argue.
'If you write back then she would feel forced to write another letter back, wasting her time that she could've used to spend time with her other friends, the ones that she would enjoy talking to more than you'
Nothing came to answer that thought. Because it was true.
Wasn't it?
He sat the brush down and folded up your letter, placing it in a wooden box where he kept the other ones you had sent him. Taking a swig of tea, he sighed dejectedly watching as his crow flew off empty handed.
He didn't want to waste your time with his silly letters.
...
Back at the love pillar's estate, you were patiently waiting on the engawa. Hoping to receive a letter back from him, only to be crestfallen when you spot the crow coming back with no letter in sight.
"Sorry,,,"
Kanzaburo gloomily apologised, he too was hoping for Giyuu to write back. He might be an old crow but even he noticed the funk you two seemed to be in. You gave him a snack and scratched his chin, "It's alright, thank you for you help."
With that he flew off once again to gods knows where, you laughed emptily as you realised that Giyuu was going to have a heart attack trying to find him again.
"No reply huh?"
Misturi asked as she peeked through the open door, seeing you shake you head the love pillar sighed. Rubbing your shoulder in an attempt to comfort you, she knew about your not-so-tiny crush on Giyuu. It was easy to see really, but apparently getting you two together would be harder than she thought.
"Thanks having me over Mitsuri, I think I'm going head back for a nap, thank you again." You said, getting up to hug her before heading out back to your own estate for that nap.
It was weird to see you so blue. Not only for her, but for everyone else who knows you, that included the snake pillar who peered over from door frame.
"Still sulking over Tomioka?"
"Yeah,,,"
"They'll get it together eventually don't worry," He tried consoling Mitsuri, who was just as dejected as you were. "Come on your tea's going cold."
Breathing out in defeat she knew he was right, the only thing that they can do is let you two figure it out on your own. That doesn't mean she wasn't pouty about it though, walking back into the estate with slumped shoulders as Obanai closed the door behind them.
Tumblr media
Giyuu stopped a few meters away from your estate.
What was he doing here? He didn't know. His feet had walked him here on instinct, was it because he had missed your presence? Probably.
No matter much he believes you shouldn't waste your time and attention on him, he can't help but miss you. He really does. Your greetings every pillar meeting, the sweetest of smiles you would send his way, just everything about you he missed.
But maybe he shouldn't. Did you even want to see him?
He sighed and rubbed his face, gods what was wrong with him. Maybe he should head back to his estate and sulk, groaning he turned on his heel and was all too ready and go through with the plan, but then he passed by a flower shop. Filled with all the flowers of spring, lilacs, camellias and lilies, andromedas and lavenders.
And most importantly, buttercups.
"Buttercups are my favourite, they may be small but they're bright. I like to think of them like smiles. Even though a smile is fleeting, they can make someones day just a little bit brighter."
He remembers that day clearly.
Some of the pillars were just hanging around and he just so happened to be dragged in, by you of course, and someone asked you if you had a favourite flower. It was a joke at first, you were the spring hashira how could you pick just one?
When you said your favourite were buttercups, Giyuu couldn't help but keep that locked away in his memories, just incase he needed it for a special occasion. Today wasn't anything special really, just a regular day, but now there was no stopping him from giving you the small bouquet of buttercups he now held in his hand.
The shop keeper even slipped in some snowbells after he involuntarily nodded when they asked if the flowers were for someone special in his life.
Well he wasn't lying really.
Now standing in the halls of your estate he was just realising what he was about to do, he had completely blacked out the moment he saw your favourite flowers and now he was stuck here. He can't back out now can he? One of the kakushi working for you had let him in, would it look weird if he just walked out again?
Maybe he could just leave the flowers outside your room and call it a day. Yes that'll work.
But.
A tiny part of him wanted to give you the flowers personally, he hadn't seen you smile at him in so long and now without his little energy boosts, Giyuu was feeling a little down. So then he turned around again to try and find you.
Suddenly switching directions again he thought it over. But what if you didn't want to see him? He wouldn't blame you really, why would you want to see him?
Giyuu sighed and headed in the direction he knew your room to be, but then something pulled him to turn around. Goddamit what is it now? He really wanted to ask himself.
'Think about it Giyuu, if you give her the flowers personally you can not only see her smile again. But you could also talk to her, you missed hearing her voice didn't you?'
Listening to what the small voice in the back of his head said, he was wasn't really convinced. It wasn't until they pipped up once more.
'If she did dislike you so much then why on earth is she still talking to you? You've known her for at least a year or two now, don't you think she would've left you behind by now? And you wouldn't want her to think you hate her or something'
They really had a point. He's been ignoring you more in the past weeks, and maybe months by now, then he has in the few years he's known you. Sighing, he shook his head to un-scramble his thoughts and walked down the halls searching for you.
His doubtful side was getting louder and louder with every corner he turned, but Giyuu did his best to shut them down, or at least hold them back until he could fine you.
"She doesn't want to see you," How would he know that?
"Your just wasting her time," But you've been talking to him on your own will for years now, why would he be wasting your time now?
"Your holding her back," Maybe, but giving you some simple flowers wouldn't hold you back in anyway, right? Right?
"You aren't good enough,"
Giyuu stopped in his tracks. He couldn't find anyway to disagree with that thought, because it was true. Just like all the other ones he tried shutting down, he knew they were true so why was he fighting them?
A laugh broke him out of his thoughts, your laugh.
Carefully peeking around the corner, he looked around the courtyard. Hoping to see spot you in the open patch of grass. And he did but. You were with someone else.
He stepped back.
You were laughing at something they had said, most likely a joke. He always loved the sound of your laughter but he never could make you laugh, and yet why did it hurt so much now? It never hurt this much when you smiled at him, it never felt like this when he turned away whenever you tried giving him attention. His hand clutched his chest, right where his heart felt like it was ripped apart.
"She deserves someone better,"
Yeah.
Yeah, you do.
Biting his lip, Giyuu took another step back. Then another, and another after that. Until he fully turned around and let his grip loosen on the bundle of buttercups and snowbells, hearing the sound of leaves hitting the floors he bowed his head and walked away.
He didn't deserve you.

"Close up, Close shot"

Words: 2,3K words
Warnings: Spoilers! For the final chapters, mentions about fake injuries and lost limbs. Swearing. Giyuu abs, does that count as a warning? Yes. Be-warned this also wasn't proof read.

a/n: Hey anon! :D im so glad you loved the last actor Giyuu one, i was kinda insecure about it and i kept over thinking stuff. So it makes me unbelievably happy that you loved it so much! I would love adding more shenanigans~ Have a good day too anon!
Link to the first part: "Lights, Camera, Giyuu"
Tumblr media
Ask for more shenanigans and you shall receive
Let's talk about the press conferences and tours shall we? It was your first time meeting up with some fans with Giyuu so guys just had to go in your demon slayer uniforms, as you two were split up in the crowd you were left alone to talk to the fans
You were simply minding your own business when suddenly someone decided that it would be fun to scare you, in the middle of the meet up, so as other pillars were talking to a group of people they suddenly heard you scream bloody murder in the distance
While everyone else were wondering what's wrong the cast simply laughed it off when Obanai offhandedly just told them; "Giyuu scared (Y/N) again"
This confused your fans greatly the first time, because on screen you were very civil with one another. In fact since you seemed to be the only one who talk to Giyuu on the regular (and the only one he talked to in the series willingly) the shippers immediately jumped at the opportunity at a cute ship.
So they were watching with wide eyes as they watched you were "beating" Giyuu up with your fists. It really didn't hurt, he would compare it to cotton candy hitting him but if he said that out loud he might actually get bruises.
During the interview session of the event someone brought it up and immediately the cast started giggling, that included Giyuu while you rolled your eyes.
He was the one to take the mic from you and explain that you were easy to scare, so you learned to keep your guard up around him after after a while. But since you were at a fan event you completely forgot about it and so it was even easier for him to catch you off guard.
This very solid explanation was cut off by you smacking him and stealing the mic back, making everyone burst into laughter as you tried covering up Giyuu's shouts of "But it's true-"
The fans loved watching you interact with Giyuu off set, begging you two to be guests at Kimetsu radio, wanting you guys to be loud with the actors for Tanjiro and Zenitsu
You two were such an icon on the internet, the human embodiment of "couple goals" and the "chaotic best friends"
These two sides were at war with each other constantly, one half of the fandom swore that you two were simply friends and that you've said it before so why force it, then there's the other side that can't help but thinks you guys were so cute as a couple
Both sides were right really
Even when it came out that you were dating Giyuu, in every interview that asks you about it both you and Giyuu would say that the other was much more then their romantic partner. You two were each others best friends before anything else
Like every interview there were of course questions if your personality or traits matched the character you played, so someone asked if animals hated the in real life Giyuu as much as they did on screen
To which he sadly admitted, and you laughing your head off, that yes they really did dislike him in real life as much they did on the TV show
So every time you had to film with supporting animals you had to play as his body guard to make sure they didn't seriously hurt Giyuu's dignity
Ironically enough, the crow that plays his crow in the show was actually the only one that likes him
Moving to your presence behind scenes, even after you began dating Giyuu it was abundantly clear that
You two were still going to annoy the hell out of the other
Sneaking into each others break room not only for cuddles or cheeky kisses but primarily to steal some snacks
Neither of you know who started it but at one point you guys stopped buying snacks that you like and instead stocked up on snacks the other would like more, so Shinobu or Mitsuri would walk into your shared break room to see a pile of snacks that you swore you hated
When they asked all you said was, "Giyuu likes it," which didn't really answer their question but the next day they walked in, they saw Giyuu sitting in your spot of the room, eating the aforementioned snacks no less
Snacks weren't the only thing you two would steal from each other
Hoodies and clothing weren't safe from your expert thieving skills, especially in the harsh winters you were stuck filming in
It came to a point where neither of you know which piece of clothing belonged to who, and neither did anyone on set. One day they would see you wearing a blue hoodie with embroidered stars and the next they would see Giyuu wearing the same hoodie
The only article of clothing that you two shared and knew exactly who it belonged to were your demon slayer uniforms and haori, it wasn't uncommon for the director to see Giyuu wearing your haori because you stole his
There was this one legendary episode in the fandom
It was an episode you didn't appear in, but your footwear did
Instead of Giyuu's normal plain white leg strap(?) things, they accidentally switched it up with yours which were pale yellow and decorated with lighting bolts to suit your lighting pillar persona
They only realised this mix up when it was the last shot of the episode, seeing that they couldn't really re-film the whole episode and they already lost their light as well so they might as well use the footage they have
It wasn't really a big mistake since it still made sense in the series if you two accidentally switched leg-wear, but boy was it hyped up by the fans
No one noticed for a good while because they were so engrossed with the episode, but when someone watched it back to analyse stuff they noticed the switched clothing instead of what ever hidden lore they were trying to find
So immediately it blew up, theories popped up every where
There were a lot that said this "mistake" was basically confirming the ship between your characters as canon, that was the majority of the fan theories
But there was one that everyone refused to believe, some said that maybe your character had died on a mission off screen and so Giyuu had taken that article of clothing as a way of honouring you
It was sad because one you were beloved among the fans and they did not want you to die, much less an off screen death and two because it was highly possible since that one episode was frame very sad since they were focusing on a serious topic
So they thought it played in with the "(your character) died" theory, it made sense why the episode had a gloomy atmosphere because a pillar just died so it makes sense??
But no it was just a little mistake the crew found out about too late, not like they didn't use this to their advantage of course
In the coming episodes they dropped small easter eggs only the most vigilant could catch, such as switching your hair ties or the tabi socks you wore underneath your zorī
They were really cheeky one episode however, where the kamaboko squad came to your section of pillar training which you shared with Giyuu, they went over to talk to you after training where you were seen wearing Giyuu's classic split haori over your own
Saying that he had given to you when you felt "cold" after Tanjiro had pointed it out, it was played it very calmly but the audience's reaction to it was anything but calm
It was a treat for you and Giyuu just scrolling through comments and posts freaking out about this small detail
There were plenty of episodes that were iconic to the cast while filming that seemed pretty normal to the audience, one of these episodes was that one scene after Giyuu and Tanjiro defeated upper moon three
Keeping true to the source material they had to film a shirtless shot for Giyuu, and it was the best idea the director ever had because it was hilarious watching you try to get through your lines without all the blood in your body going to your face
The cast was cackling every time you messed up a line after you caught a glimpse of Giyuu abs in the corner of your eyes, it wasn't much fun for you but it was for everyone else watching
It was worse because since they were also film the entire fight in the infinity castle, all your friends you made in the cast were laughing their heads off as you painfully struggle in the presence of Giyuu's abs
Not that you were complaining much after really, maybe you did speed read through the script to see if there was another scene where Giyuu's shirt had to be off but maybe you didn't
Speaking of Giyuu, he was cheekily looking at you every time you messed up because this smug little bastard just knew it was his fault you kept messing up and he was proud of it too
Boy was fine as hell and he knew it
Segway to the battle against Muzan
While you, Obanai, Tanjiro and technically Muzan too were filming, Giyuu was with the others getting his make up done to make it seem like he really did lose his arm
Since they wanted to make it seem as real as possible the crew waited for the final scene for you two to actually meet, so they could film your first reaction to Giyuu losing his arm
Canonically you lost sight in your left eye too so you had blood all over that half of your face but he didn't need to know that
The audience don't know this but those tears you cried with Giyuu were 100% real, not like you would tell them that anyways. The cast were actually concerned for a moment because you two were actually crying shit this wasn't suppose to happen
Well that was until you started laughing and "punched" Giyuu's remaining arm before turning around to face the crew and blubbering out a "Fuck I forgot it wasn't real"
And so everything was well and they all laughed along at your idiocy, in your defence you've been so engrossed with your character at this point it was hard to remember that you weren't actually fighting Muzan
They had to film B-roll footage at the end of the battle, just for ya' know feels and what not, but you and Giyuu were tired already cause it's sunrise and you've been filming all night so taking a nap on set doesn't sound so bad
So since you were both asleep leaning against each other they thought instead of filming you two watching the sunset peacefully after the battle, why not just use this
This was before the four month epilogue mind you so when this episode came out everyone was freaking out that you two might be dead, there was already so much fanart of your final moments together and comments under said fanart sobbing because it was so sad
Luckily for their hearts, when the epilogue episode came out of everyone being alive. Including you and Giyuu they were over joyed to see you both being alive with everyone else.
Enough talk about the angsty final chapters, let's talk about the all the fan-service you guys subtly did, which they are eternally grateful for
You think all those cheeky episode of you two switching clothing was all you did? Oh dear sweet child you are dead wrong
No fancy event or even small events you guys do together is complete without a few stolen kisses here and there or Giyuu complementing you on how good you looked at least once, which you complementing him right back on how cute he was
Don't even get me started on that time you two blew the internet up again when a picture of you and the other gals from the cast hanging out got leaked, and the very vigilant fans instantly noticed the ring around your finger
But yes that happened, other shenanigans that you two get up too include the infamous script case that lasted three days
It all started with you "borrowing" Giyuu's script which lead him to taking yours. A three day long war started that day, with the other cast members joining in, like Shinobu grabbing Douma's before running off with it or Inosuke taking both Tanjiro and Zenitsu's scripts for the heck of it
Multiple "gangs" were established
You sided with Shinobu, Kanao, Mitsuri, Nezuko, Muichiro, Daki and funnily enough Akaza because he wanted to mess with Douma just as much as Shinobu does
While your boyfriend ended up on Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Yuichiro, Obanai, Gyutaro, and Kyojuro.
And then there were the miscellaneous which consistent of Inosuke, Kaigaku, Sanemi, and Uzui who just wanted to steal everyones scripts and sided with no one
Douma get's no teams cause everyone just fights to keep him away from who took his in the first place, which is Shinobu
You can probably tell who's after who's script just by the teams.
Daki and Gyutaro often go for each others but the sometimes would team up to steal the Tsugikuni twin's, which normally didn't work but there were times where Yoriichi just lets them take his
Mitsuri likes to steal Kyojuro's and Obanai but only Kyojuro really fights to get his back, Obanai can't bring himself to try and get it back because she just looks so happy after successfully "stealing" it
Mui and Yui are at each others throats when the war started, it was really funny watching them however because,,, they have the same script but no one has the heart to point it out
Tanjiro and Zenitsu are basically just handing theirs to Nezuko at this point, neither of them can handle her cuteness and simply give up. But Zenitsu still tries to climb the highest surface in order to get away from Inosuke
And then there's you and Giyuu, the ones who started this whole mess. While you and Giyuu would normally steal each others you aren't opposed to stealing Sanemi's or Kyojuro's or Uzui's
Normally he's very on guard with his script so it was almost impossible to steal his if you weren't quick enough, you however had a secret weapon. Called distraction
You with your smooth skills would distract your adorable boyfriend with all the kisses and cuddles he could for before running off with his script in your hand, he knows this tactic as well but he's powerless when you start peppering kisses all over his face
Together with Giyuu, you two were chaos personified. But that didn't mean you can't have fun with your fellow cast members and the people around the set helping out, the time you spent filming the series was one of the most fun you ever had and the friends you made from it were going to there for a long time coming.
If that framed picture of you and him surrounded with all your friends on your wedding day hanging in your living room doesn't scream "good memories made" then you don't know what else will.

You were used to being in films from a young age, in fact you even know some of your fellow cast members on set. You've worked with most of the actors playing the pillars, but you've never work with the Tokito twins before.
You were about to soon however. Your first impression of the twins was a funny one to say the least, while you were introducing yourself to all your co-workers you ran into Muichiro first.
He was nice enough and you parted on a good note, waving good bye to your new friend you headed out to make make more. But when you turned the corner there he was again, this time with a minor scowl on his face.
Of course you greeted him with a "oh! Hey Muichiro!"
Surprisingly, he just looked at you with a raised eyebrow before speed walking away.
Huh that's weird
It kept happening the whole day, one minute you would be talking with Muichiro non stop, then the next he would just brush you off and walk away with a "uhuh yeah,"
Then you started seeing a pattern.
When one Mui would walk away another would appear, but not dressed the same way. They both were wearing the demon slayer uniforms sure, but each held their hair differently.
One had it down, the other tied it up in a ponytail.
No way he could pull it up so neatly by the time you turn around again. Something fishy was going on.
The next time you saw Muichiro, this one being the one who's actually talk to you, before he could leave you quickly snatched his elbow and pulled him around with you.
Dragging poor Muichiro behind you, you checked around every corner of the studio you two were in. Just waiting for another Mui to pop up.
After a few minutes of Muichiro questioning your sanity, the second Mui came in the room.
"AHA!" "I presume this is your friend you were talking about Mui?" "Yeah, I think they thought you were me Yuinii-san." "Wait- Yui?"
So that's how you befriended he tokito twins
It took a lil bit longer for Yuichiro to drop his grumpy mood for you to actually get closer to him, but hey it worked out in the end.
You were playing as Mitsuri's tsuguko, so there were lots of scenes you had to film with the two. At first you were questioning why both of the twins had to be present during filming, but now it made sense during the pillar's debut episode.
Both twins played Muichiro on the show, and both could play specific scenes better.
Actually, there was once scene where you could play it better than either of them.
That one scene where Muichiro had to hit Tanjiro with pebbles? Yeah that was a somewhat difficult thing to film, not because it was a highly energy consuming scene no. But because neither of the twins could seem to aim.
Plenty bloopers were available of the failed attempts.
All of which had Tanjiro standing there, anticipating a light tap of the pebbles so he could act it out, but most of them missing. Background laughter could be heard from the other pillars and people on set, as well as frustrated yells from the boys.
They were so frustrated in fact they simply tossed you the pebble and gestured angrily; "yOu TrY iT."
So that was how they ended up getting the take. Everyone had to bite their tongue as Tanjiro finished acting his part, the moment the director called out that it was a wrap, everyone immediately let out cheers.
The loudest were the tokito twins, relived to finally finish the goddamn take.
After that episode it took you all a while before you could come back on set, but when you did come back it was during the swordsmith's village arc. And since you were acting as Mitsuri's tsuguko you came to tag along.
The first pillar episode was only so long, but this one was going to be much longer and much more exciting.
During the time you three were offset however, you still kept in touch, hanging out every now and then together. Getting ice cream or going to the arcade, the works.
So now with you all being much closer than before, it brought much more chaos to the set.
It didn't really help the directors that you all made friends with the kamaboko squad and Genya too, so now the eight of you were filming together and messing about the studio together.
After a day of filming then you would go out to get something to eat with the twins, sometimes the kamaboko squad and Genya would come and join you.
Like today for example, you all were sitting at the food court, while Tanjiro and the twins were ordering your food.
Now, Muichiro had a designated seat, and that was in front of you. Not only could he sit with Yuichiro, but he could easily talk with you.
So imagine his utter shock when he saw that Zenitsu and Inosuke had already taken those seats, Mui could've sat next to you instead but Nezuko was sitting there too. Leaving him to sit at the table next to you with Tanjiro and Genya.
Don't get him wrong, he was all too ready to kick their asses out of his seat. But you seemed to be enjoying yourself without him, so now Muichiro was grumbling in his seat as he heard you laugh with everyone else.
And it was very noticeable for the other three boys sitting at the table with him.
Tanjiro leaned over to tap Yuichiro's shoulder, silently asking him why Muichiro was suddenly in a bad moon. Glancing at his brother, then at you — who barely noticed the glare Muichiro was sending at Inosuke and Zenitsu.
Rolling his eyes, he looked back at Genya and Tanjiro, who were staring at Muichiro in concern. Waving it off with; "It's fine he'll get over it eventually."
He in fact did not get over it until the end of the day, Mui was grumpy the whole time because you kept putting too much attention to the other boys. Leaving him lonely without you.
It was only when they arrived home that he finally realise how stupid he was being, he never got this upset when his friends were talking with someone other than him. So why were you any different?
After he changed into pyjamas he went up to Yui to ask him, maybe he would know.
But all he did was pat his head and left; "You'll know sooner or later"
Curse his brother's vagueness
Moving on from Muichiro's obliviousness to his cuddliness instead.
People ask how you manage to tell the twins apart so easily, one of the ways you figure out is their reaction to you. If you walk up to Yuichiro suddenly, he'll react casually. However when you walk up to Muichiro, his mint eyes would light up as his brain processed the fact that you were talking to him.
It was cute really.
Mui also had a sweet tooth, sure Yuichiro liked sweets, but not as much as his twin. So wave a box of mocha in his face and watch as his face breaks out in the most adorable grin you'll ever see.
By the time Muichiro finally figured out his feelings towards you, the both of you were closer than ever.
24/7 texts around the clock. If you have a proclivity to stay up late than guess what, looks like Muichiro's staying up with you. Sometimes Yui would walk into Muichiro's room in the morning and find his phone on because you both fell asleep without hanging up.
Working together on homework? Working together on homework.
It is not rare for someone on set to walk in on you and your friends having a study session, papers and books are everywhere. Besides, most of you end up falling asleep anyways.
How about events?
For the press the rarest picture they could get was one where each of you were alone, it was nearly impossible to do. You either go in threes or in pairs, never alone.
Didn't upset them though, you guys were adorable glued together.
Mui is either clinging on to your sleeve or vice verse, somedays when you wanna annoy Yui. You would both stick to his sleeves, one annoyance on each arm.
Yuichiro is almost like the babysitter, he's making sure Mui doesn't run of because something caught his eyes, and thus making you run off because Mui did.
You and Muichiro running off hand in hand with Yui hot on your tails is not a rare sight.
The pebble shot as you now called it, wasn't the only one they had trouble doing, the other was the infamous "Hey, cut it out fuckface," scene.
Now this was also a relatively easy scene to do, however everytime Muichiro tried getting a take. He kept breaking out in laughter, the director had to have Yuichiro take his place instead.
The three of you cause more problems for the special effects team and the make up crew more so then the filming. Remember when Muichiro had all those spikes sticking out of his body?
Those were the hardest to keep on.
Because you guys kept trying to touch it and then they would pop off.
The first time it happened you three were standing together off set, and you got curious so you toyed with one stuck on his face. That was a mistake, because after a few seconds it fell off into your palm. You and Muichiro looked at it in fear, wondering if you put it back would it stick on again? Meanwhile Yuichiro finally took notice and quickly tossed it out of sight.
Following his lead you hid your hands behind you back, and the three of you looked around the set, feigning innocent when one of the make up artist asked why one of the spikes were missing.
Genya and the kamaboko had it all on tape however and were laughing their heads off. They would send the video over to the group chat you guys had it's fine.
