*Gaius voice* Violence is bad, that’s why you shouldn’t kill Uther or even passively let him die! You should kill a bunch of people to protect Uther, though, that’s different, their lives don’t mean anything if they’re not kings. Now, Uther is going to perform horrible acts of violence such as drowning children as long as he lives but you have to understand, his wife died :( it was his fault but it still happened :( and he needed someone to blame! Hence the genocide. Just remember that Uther is justified because magic corrupts even though I’m harboring a sorcerer who is not corrupted by it. Uther thinks someone is stealing his boots but I actually keep swallowing them by accident during my lick breaks. Love the taste

Dean: *is heterosexual, homophobic, misogynistic, racist, and a Proud American^TM; is meant to be in order to appeal to a conservative audience, and if he does anything “feminine” it’s literally for a laugh because of how solidly he conforms to cisheteronormative standards outside of that (see: his fanboying over soap operas); he is thee macho man of the show, and he not only adheres to but loves the self-serving flaws of the culture he’s a part of*
Dean Stans: Well we don’t care about the actual implications of his character being, at its base, a glorification of cishet white American patriarchy. What if I wanted to see him fuck the first white guy who is remotely available.

there is definitely a lot to be said (and that has been said) about the reasons for jet being written the way he is in this episode and the demonization of resistance and how that's affected by the largely white and american writing team. i agree that it's not a great look and comes across a little... performatively liberal/centrist these days.
however, that doesn't negate the fact that civilians absolutely WILL be harmed in his plan, and i don't think it's an inherently awful message to suggest that's bad and will ultimately lead to more suffering for everyone, even though i agree the way the story was written/framed was inappropriate. even if you think the adult civilians have it coming as settlers (which, we don't know the context or how willingly they went, but i concede that it complicates matters), their children certainly don't. but something else i feel gets lost in the conversation is that, unless i'm mistaken, which i don't think i am, there should also be plenty of earth kingdom civilians ALSO in that town. i don't remember if we see any at the end when sokka is warning the town - haven't gotten there yet - but while it's possible some were forced out, i find it more likely that at least some have remained. (we see that this is the case, for instance, in haru's town back in imprisoned.) with that in mind, jet is making the decision that their deaths would be a worthwhile sacrifice for them, despite the fact that he's ostensibly fighting for justice in their names.

Ladybug is actually awful
Throughout the show of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir or whatever the full title is we see both main characters act kinda... not so great, but I maintain that the worst of the two, by far, is Marinette/Ladybug herself. Specifically in regards to being a partner to Char Noir.
Yes Chat has his own issues, mostly in terms of constant flirting and asking for a date despite being told no, but he is not nearly as bad as some people say he is.
Now ignoring things like not going to the date which was justified, the NY special thing and the trashcan incident which while not excusable were done in the heat of intense and stressful moments, there are still a LOT of things that Ladybug has done that could qualify as gaslighting, abuse of trust, and just straight up disrespect.
First up is the Grimoire, she never even tells Chat Noir it exists, and even if we say that only Guardians are allowed to read it she still doesn’t bother to tell Chat anything she learns from it that could affect him. I’ll put that as a minor infraction but it plays into some other things.
Second is how even when she learns-- via Alya’s outside perspective-- that the power of a Miraculous can be evolved, altered, and enhanced via imagination and doesn’t have to strictly follow it’s default she again never tells Chat Noir anything about it. Don’t say its a right of passage, she didn’t learn it herself either.
Third, Alya herself. Marinette tells her her secret ID and makes her a permanent holder in Gang of Secrets, but Chat isn’t told for twelve episodes-- a timeframe that is at least two weeks and is likely closer to two (one episode every three in universe days as a lowball still means five weeks) months-- and then only in the form of Ladybug being a no show for a fight and Scarabella taking her place. Now, even if you say there was ‘no way to tell Chat about Scarabella before Marinette had to leave to go to her aunt’s and she tried to get out of it!’ that one doesn’t track because she had time to call Alya, for Alya to go to the bakery, and for the hand off to happen but apparently not enough time to transform and leave a fifteen second voicemail, and two Chat should have been told about Rena being a permanent holder LONG before that because news flash, she is a BIG security risk seeing as Shadowmoth-- or Monarch-- knows her secret ID. Not telling Chat Noir was nothing but disrespect and showcasing distrust in her partner. Then she just gives a placating ‘I won’t abandon you’ to him and everything is all okay because Chat loves her and wants to believe her.
The last thing I’m going to bring up-- though its not the last instance to be found-- is her plan in Ephemeral. There is absolutely NO way to excuse that plan. She emotionally manipulates him and abuses his trust with the express intention of betraying any and all feelings he has for her. She literally uses the line that Chat would only ever give up his ID to her because he loves her. And the only reason she ‘doesn’t go through with it’ is either A) she finds out its Adrien and her simp mode activates so hard she can’t bring herself to react or give up his ID, or B) Time goes crazy and she loses her chance. So really she does go through with it, she did go through with it, and it should not be given a pass.
Ladybug is in fact a toxic partner to Chat Noir who does not respect him, only trusts him as far as using him as a meat shield or a distraction, and actively pushes him aside for practically an entire season before she is forced to start using him again because all the other heroes are no longer available.

A Rant About Bystander Jim & Oswald's Torture At Arkham
Jim letting Oswald get tortured and not investigating his claim that it was happening was so glossed over in the show. I'd argue that was much morally worse of him than killing Galavan.
Especially since Jim clearly suspected something was wrong the moment he saw Oswald in Arkham. He also didn't trust Strange and actively investigated him, but after finding the monsters never thought "hey, maybe Oswald was telling me the truth."
Oswald being tortured wouldn't even protect Gotham like Galavan's death, he was locked up. And whether Arkham Asylum is a hospital or prison, medical abuse shouldn't be allowed to transpire there. It's not ethical and never gonna just hurt the people Jim Gordon doesn't like.
One of Jim's defining traits is supposed to be not being a bystander but they just threw that out the window. Then they just never addressed it.

OKAY. So... hear me out.
I find striking similarities between how Garfield is perceived by the non-Garfield fanatic general public and how Dean is perceived by much of Supernatural fandom.
Garfield is grumpy and hates Mondays! He's lazy and fat! He loves lasagna! Meanwhile, if you go back to actually read the strips from the late 70s to 80s, you'll find a very different cat. People smush him into a box (though, he's a cat, so maybe he'd like that), but Garfield has so much more to him! He is very openly affectionate with Jon and loved to cuddle!! He is so sensitive with the mice! When no one's looking, he pats Odie on the head!
Dean's the same way. Many fans have this strange opinion that Dean is always concealing his emotions and hiding under some sort of stoicism, which is sometimes true when he's trying to put on a brave face for Sam. But there are also very many scenes when his emotions show so plainly on his face and he's confessing his love for Sam in 100 different ways.
Both characters suffered from an oversimplification and dumbing down as time went on, coinciding with a gradual lack of funny. This didn't help. Anyway, season one Dean Winchester is 1982 Garfield-coded.

cw bitter Cas feelings
No but the vote between TMWWBK and Lazaras Rising is like chewing glass to me.
Of course TMWWBK has incomparable impact on me. Of course it was the only Cas-centric episode on the show which is everything.
But like, the original version of Cas died in TMWWBK. The version of Cas that was confident, powerful, the version that believed in himself. He was brutally murdered by the show's intention to reduce and villainlize him via the Winchesters.
How am I going to promote that over the birth of that version of Cas, who walked into my life in a shower of sparks?
Don't get me wrong I love the later versions of Cas too, because Cas can't be reduced no matter how much they try, no thanks to the show.

The Reason why I ship Wendip:
Because you get a sense of friendship these two exhibit throughout
the show. One moment you'll see them escaping danger coming from the various monsters of Gravity Falls
and the next moment you'll see them chilling out in front the TV while snacking on some popcorn. These two
enjoy hanging out with each other when they're not doing other activities.
Another reason is that they both support each other when they're feeling down. Dipper makes Wendy take more
initiative in her actions and actually do something beside laze around the day. Wendy, meanwhile, allows Dipper
to feel more confident and shed his cowardice in distressing circumstances.
Finally, the dynamics of this pair is just more fun to explore. There are more interesting ideas and layers to build upon these two characters together, both on a romantic and a platonic level.(beside, both are mature beyond their age and 2.5 age gape is insignificant when they get older, you don't hear anyone complained when Kataang and Ferb/Vanessa become a thing).
Before you go and say "but Wendy in later years reciporating Dipper's feelings will undone the message" I say no because by that time Dipper has grown and become "worthy of loving" thus making it poetic;besides,I know shows which done that message far better without reducing a main characters into one dimensional- ms-unattainables and being a drama queen over crushes like Kipo:Age of The Wonderbeast.
Moreover,Am I the only one who found incredibly hypocritical how much the series trashed Dipper's feelings for Wendy using the excuse of "it's imposible, he has no future with her because she's 2-3 years older than him", but then the same series supported Mabel's crazy crushes that she honestly had no future either? I mean, is the series and the narrative seriously making watchers and fans believe that Mabel had more future with a bunch of gnomes, a zombie, a vampire, a psycho child(who is 3 years younger), a merman, a puppeteer creep(who is in his 20s!), a cloned boy band(who are in their 20s AGAIN biologically but technically only months old!), any stranger she stalked within her radar each week, and a dollar bill guy, than Dipper with Wendy? Like, she has MORE future with any of those crazy creatures than Dipper has with Wendy, a girl she is very close to and who is only 2 and a half years older?
Honestly, I find ironic that the series ditched Dipper's relationship with Wendy because, according to the narrative, it wouldn't matter or last in the long run only for a 2-3 year old gap, but then goes to support even crazier crushes that are changed in a week, because looking through it, out of all the crushes we've seen the kids have, the one who actually can have a future is the one that the series constantly ditches and mocks at.
Before any missunderstooding of what I tried to say: I'm not saying Mabel's crushes didn't end up backfiring, of course they did, it was obvious that would happen sooner or later. What I'm trying to say is that in most episodes they put Mabel's random crushes above Dipper's crush over Wendy with the excuse of "Dipper having no chances nor future with Wendy", as if Mabel had ANY future or chances with any of those crushes at all or as if any of those crushes were any more reallistic than Dipper's crush over Wendy. The thing is, even if Mabel's crushes ended up falling apart, in the end, Mabel got to give it a try with her crushes at the cost of Dipper sacrificing his time with Wendy, therefore pushing Mabel's crushes above Dipper's.
That is what I'm criticizing here: the fact that the narrative puts Mabel's crushes constantly over Dipper's crush using the "they have no future or chances" excuse while also pointedly ignoring that Mabel's crushes had even less chances and future than Dipper's. In fact, Dipper's crush with Wendy has more future than Mabel's, because the only obstacle in here is just a 2 and a half year old gap that in a couple of years won't matter at all, so if these two end up having feelings to each other in the future, it can totally work out.
And to answer your question YES i would still ship it even if it was real because as I mentioned both compliment each other, both are mature beyond their years, they are like the same age group is not like I want them to go sexual during that period and my headcanon is that the ship happended years when they got older through their frienship blossom into romance and its kinda reminds me as a mix between Peter Parker/MJ and Astrid/Hiccup.
I don't ship Wendip out of a childish fantasy of romance, because let's be honest there is no such thing as true love or soulmate or the "perfect" romance, that's a lie only fools believe in and there is no such thing as the "perfect" mate, if anything I wrote essasies about why Wendy deserved WAY better than being a Ms Perfect stereotype and guess what?as I said before I know plently like The Dragon Prince and Kip:Age of The Wonderbeast who done the message FAR better without lowering themselves in objectifying the opposite gender or create a double standard or make a bigger deal than it needs to be, I ship Wendip for what it is and it can be.
I know Wendip is an accident but I don't care, there are many ships which were accidents and some even got canonized;besides, I see beauty in accidents, not everything should be pre-destined, that's a lie zealots say.
"Sometimes the best part in life is an accident that goes right."
-Elizabeth Lowell-
And guess what? The only ships truly canonized in GF are Melody/Soos and Blubs/Durland so deal with it!

Worst most tragic quote of any show ever:
“Some men are born to be kings… I was born to serve you, Arthur.”
How everyone else isn’t horribly unsettled by that line of words fuckin’ astounds me.
HE DOESN’T SEE HIMSELF AS A PERSON!
And he tries to twist it into a positive thing!
It’s the fact that he suddenly believes that anyone is born to be lesser or greater than anyone else. The equality he hoped for at the original round table? No sign of that here. He’s been so socially abused that he’s resigned himself to being “less than.” It’s been impressed upon him again and again that he’s predestined to be Arthur’s inferior.
He doesn’t realize anymore that Arthur wasn’t born superior to him, with a grand entitlement to the monarchy’s hoarded wealth. He doesn’t realize that the scraps he has to his own name are disproportionate compensation for the work he does! He doesn’t seem to recognize that leadership should be divorced from concepts of unlimited power and greater wealth, that a leader should not be “above” their subjects, except when it comes to his own power and leadership. Then, he’s stopping people from bowing to him, and speaking to his followers as equals. But when Arthur expects and enforces the rule that he is treated with greater respect than anyone else, treated to greater luxuries, and that his work is ~more important~ so others (like his servants) don’t deserve their share of the wealth, that’s seen as completely normal and uncorrupt. Arthur’s an over-glorified CEO, and Merlin is placed on the lowest tier. And no one sees anything wrong with this political model?
He genuinely believes that he is Arthur’s inferior, morally and spiritually, and that the position he was born into (as a poor farmer, then servant, and “monster”) was intended to reflect that, as some sort of payment for his ~innate flaws~. He believes that Arthur specifically was born king because he is superior, that he was born into his insurmountable political/social power & wealth because he is somehow more deserving of it, when Arthur is just like any other person ever.
And it’s even wilder because he doesn’t think this about Uther or Morgana! It’s like Stockholm Syndrome. And what’s worse is that the narrative glorifies this perspective, doesn’t treat it as the horror that it really is, doesn’t engage with it as an idea that needs to be challenged.
It’s so different from how he approached his destiny in seasons 1-4, it’s arguably just out of character, plain and simple. He used to have some fight in him, he had a sense of self (even if he was lacking in self-worth, which is why he was so susceptible to this). He knew that he deserved to be seen as a person, as capable, as dignified. This negative development in his character, that he believes he doesn’t get to simply exist as a human being, that he only exists to serve the needs of others, while everyone else gets to just be a person without their very existence needing to be justified… it’s disturbing! How do people romanticize this? He’s an immortal martyr. When he can’t die for his cause, he gives up his life.
Merlin is more than a weapon, more than a shield, more than a thing. He wasn’t born to be used! He’s just a person, he deserves to simply be. Everyone does.
I hope he learned to after Arthur and Gaius died.

These love posts to Stede Bonnet from “Our Flag Means Death” make me nauseous.  He wasn’t some lovable fop who became a pirate. He was a real man who owned a sugarcane plantation and enslaved over 90 people, apparently dragging them from Africa into slavery. If you’re going to include real people in a series maybe don’t romanticize them when they’re monstrous assholes.
He and that damn show can fuck right off.

calling my lover "mine" but not in the way that my toothbrush or notebook are mine, mine in the way my neighborhood is mine, and also everybody else's, "mine" like mine to tend to, mine to care for, mine to love. "mine" not like possession but devotion.
