Reference sheet of my OC, Shoulder Canon!
Plus some funfacts under the cut!
He's 19 years old
He works for a security company that often assigns him to watch over various locations; they often assign him the bank. He's been working for the company for a little over a year now.
He takes his job a little too seriously, which can often lead to him being strike and acting like a kill joy.
He's usually pretty grumpy and easily irritable, even around friends. (He could be having the best day of his life and still look like he ate a sour lemon)
He heavily dislikes whenever Phights are arranged in the bank as he has to clean up after them.
He's only about 5'3, but he's sturdy and somewhat built.
He has fairly broad shoulders due to the nature of his weapon.
Shoulder Canon was adopted by Banhammer as a baby; Ban is more considered as his Legal Guardian than an adoptive father

Boomerang (Or rather, "Doomerang") idea (And some stuff about the inventory shoulder cannon)
(Turok 2’s Razor Wind is an obvious reference to this idea)
I always thought a boomering type item/weapon would be cool in Doom and even had some ideas on how it could work:
You throw it in the air and it will return to the player, if you just threw it to an empty space and it hit nothing.
It can bounce off surfaces like walls, floors and ceilings (And if it bounces off them for a little too long, it may magically return to the player to avoid being stuck).
It can act as a projectile that when hitting enemies, creates a "bleeding effect" (Like a temporary health drain on them) and even go through some enemies if they're small/weak enough.
With bigger enemies, it can bounce back from them, unless it's under the effect of something like Quad Damage/Onslaught.
It could be the kind of item that can "recharge" a bit faster, unless there needs to be some balance.
In general, i think it could work as an inventory/side item instead of a main weapon or alt fire/mod.
Its design
I think a boomerang in Doom could work if made under the Sentinel aesthetic, as if it had blades made of red Argent energy.
Maybe one could see variations of it under UAC/Hell themes too, but i think the nature of such an item would suit Sentinel knights in general.
In fact, i even see it making sense with the 3rd version of the equip launcher in this below concept art, as if that white module has a red disk that could make that boomerang-like function.
Speaking of the shoulder cannon
Since 2016 MP had a lot of "side arms" that didn't return, i wonder if a Doom game could have a "subitem" system where there's technically extra items but because they're optional, only one could be used at a time.
Basically, the 3 default are frag grenades/ice bombs/flame belch and they stay that way; Then you can get a Tesla rocket, Kinetic Mine and some other items but only one of those.
Even with weapons, it'd be a way to allow a player to carry a new weapon alongside the main arsenal, but there's still a choice on which extra weapon to use.
Or maybe i'm just thinking on excuses for bloat.
