How do u make your yearly budget ? I remember you posting about your budget spreadsheet once. Pls I am v interested on how you set it up
I simply must ask if you're the FBI agent in my phone, because I genuinely just sent a message to a friend saying how excited I was it's the end of the month, meaning tomorrow I get to start with a fresh new slate in my budget hahaha
alright let's talk:
I don't do a yearly budget, technically! I budget month-per-month. There are lots of styles of budgets—some allowing for a yearly/more Long Term view—but what worked for my income level was a month-based system.
I lurked on r/personalfinance on reddit for a long while and actually pilfered my budget template from there!
I use this one, which I like both because I've used it for five years and because it's just plain ol' simple. I don't need charts to automatically populate and I don't want to categorize every purchase I make. I just want to see how much money I have per month and how much I'm spending.
That's also crucial to how I personally do budgeting. I don't set aside $X for food and $X for activities and $X for going out or whatever every month. That isn't productive to me; my life looks different every month depending on what's going on. I don't use my budget to be prescriptive; outside of my fixed expenses (rent, utilities, etc.) I just use my budget to track 1. where my money is going and 2. how much of it I have left.
If you want something with a bit more frills, there are lots of other options (one, two, three) on reddit, but I've [personally] found all their bells and whistles overwhelming. If they have useful features you want to use (like, some will have tabs for you to track debt and payments toward it), you can experiment with them, but I don't recommend them for someone new to budgeting.
...I also don't inherently recommend my preferred spreadsheet, either. It doesn't work for everyone. I've shown it to some friends and they almost immediately knew it wouldn't work for them. The reason it works for me is because I am kind of neurotic about budgeting.
To me, "peace of mind" is maintained by having a really close eye on my finances. That means that I track what I spend daily. I manually input every purchase into the spreadsheet. I manually put every paycheck into the spreadsheet. I keep the Google Sheets app on my phone for this very purpose.
That isn't something everyone's willing to do, and there's no shame in that—we all find the different tools that work best for us! But if you don't think you're able to keep up with manually tracking every cent you make and spend, I don't think that this method will be good for you.
If you need more automation in your budgeting, where you can get things autofilled and so on and so forth, I would have pointed you towards Mint, which I've heard good things about, but it's sadly shutting down this March. The article I linked provided an alternate recommendation, but I can't personally vouch for any of those services.
I've been tempted by YNAB a time or two — I like the idea that they intentionally work you towards living off of old paychecks instead of the money you earn month-of [which is a financial goal we should ALL strive for, even though it can be very hard], and I like that they encourage giving every dollar a "job", but you don't NEED their service to do either of those things. I don't like paying money to save money, you know? lol
I keep a secondary, simple spreadsheet with my "rolling funds" in it — money I set aside every month (which I input as a monthly "expense" in my normal spreadsheet) which I allocate to specific funds, like car funds, travel funds... I even had a "hockey game fund" for a few years, haha.
I prefer that method to paying for a service to do it for me. I'm sure YNAB has some nice bells and whistles, and it's clear MANY people love being integrated into their system, which has some automated bits that definitely make budgeting "easier," but I like Ye Olde Spreadsheet. Having to input every purchase keeps me accountable, I feel. Also it sometimes discourages me from spending money, haha, which is probably a good thing in the long run.
idk. I'm a huge advocate for budgeting. I know it can be really hard for some people, but I sincerely think there's some budgeting method out there that will work for you, you know? I credit my budget spreadsheets for keeping my head above water during the many times where money was/is tight. Knowledge is power and all that.
Not to sound like a #girlboss shilling my financial advice on tiktok (of which there are too many), but being aware of where your money is going is sincerely the biggest, most important step you can take towards building financial safety for yourself. My budget saved my ass this last year.

That link aside, I have a transcript planned for Mansion of the Deathly Mirror just like I did with Chelmey's Casebook and London Holiday, but I don't even have the full first chapter completed yet, so I'll have to catch up whenever I have the time and materials to do so. I haven't had the time to work on it in many months, but don't worry, I haven't forgotten about it and I WILL make a better, FULL version of the translation, as soon as I can get to it (but right now I'm kinda supposed to be preparing for my PhD defence hahahahaha).
Now for some ramblings related to the above-linked Reddit post. Long story short: we have chances of securing the game. But for that to happen, we need to be patient, and we need to be silent. If you ever find footage of the game on youtube or elsewhere, no matter what you do, leave the player alone.
Let them upload at their pace and gather the crumbs as they fall off the table, because asking for them to let you eat the whole cake has never worked in the past. By that I mean: asking someone who owns the game "hey can I see your cool shiny thing asap plz plz plz" will result in that person blocking you, no longer posting any footage or content related to that cool shiny thing, and possibly disappearing off the face of the entire internet forever. I am neither joking, nor exaggerating.
I'm not talking that much about MotDM because we don't want to get too much attention drawn to it for the time being. But don't worry, if this game ever is found (and we have a whole team searching for it, we're just secretive on purpose -- for the reasons I mentioned here and for those that are explained in more detail in the Reddit post), we WILL make sure that the fandom knows about it. It's mostly just that right now, the only person we know who has the game and is somewhat willing to make a playthrough does not want any unwanted attention, and this person is not a friend of ours. They will stop uploading if people ask for them to upload faster, and they already threatened once to delete all their videos when someone asked them if they could "share the ROM." (No. No they won't. And even if they were willing to, we can't even make anything out of a ROM yet because of the hardware being stupidly complicated anyway.)

[EDIT] Needless to say, the player who is sharing some gameplay footage does NOT know that I have a website with the beginning of a fan-translation, and if they learn even so little that it exists, they are going to have a heart attack and will likely delete their entire playthrough. And nobody wants that.
I personally won't celebrate and heave a real breath of relief before footage of the full game from start to finish with as much content as possible is secured, which is why I don't talk about it a lot. I'm just paranoid that something might go wrong like it already has multiple times in the past hahaha

8 common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
I’ll start of by saying that I’m not one who wants to police other people’s interpretations of the text. BUT I will say this: Jon is not a below average swordsman! He’s not even average. He may not have many on page feats, but he’s only been in less than a handful of serious fights and they were against middle aged men with decades of experience over him. People like to bring up his loss to Mance, but this fight was against a man who managed to unite the wildling tribes under his rule; Mance is a highly skilled warrior.
Remember, Jon is 15-16 years old when most of these fights are happening. So he’s still young and growing. People will also say “oh, but Jaime Lannister was a god at that age”. Honestly, who cares? How many characters are comparable to Jaime at any age? It’s such a dumb comparison. I’ve even seen people argue that a 13 year old Peck is better than Jon and huh? Jon hasn’t won over any knights….because he’s not encountering them in the first place.
It’s clear that GRRM holds Jon’s skill in high regard. I mean the first Jon POV chapter established him as a noted swordsman. It also clear that Jon isn’t meant to be the warrior type. He’s a deconstruction of the archetypal fantasy protagonist. GRRM has chosen to build his political skills, so he’s not putting much of a focus on how well he swings his sword. That doesn’t mean though that he doesn’t have any skill at all. Just that it’s not the main focus of his character. But I think this fandom generally has the most wretched discourse when it comes to this stuff. Like people on Reddit this past week tried to argue that Brienne is overrated…Brienne, of all people. It’s just insane to me that people think they know more than the guy who wrote the damn books.
13 worst blorboficiation
Has got to be Kevan Lannister. Not so much on tumblr, but it’s a disease in some of the other communities. For whatever reason, he’s quite beloved. And this is rather strange because he is very much complicit in the corrupt Lannister regime. And as far as we know, he’s also fully supported Tywin in everything (which includes legitimate war crimes). He has his moments where he is shown to actually care for family members (e.g., Lancel, Tyrion), and that makes him a delightfully complex character. He’s also really funny. But we shouldn’t ignore his really bad traits. I’ve had to suffer a bunch of “Kevan Lannister is the best guy ever” posts on Reddit, and it’s absolutely maddening. That’s not to say that we can’t like “bad” people! Heck, Cersei is one of my faves. But it’s weird how certain characters get a pass for doing problematic things (e.g., Kevan or even Bobby B), and other characters get lambasted for the most tame things imaginable. It’s just the hypocrisy that’s annoying.
16 you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)
Powerscaling lol. It can be fun, but the people who engage in these discussions can be so tedious and boring. Tiktok and Reddit are full of this. “Who is the greatest fighter”, “who is the best warrior”, “this is why prime Robert low diffs Barristan Selmy”, and it’s the same old arguments every time. I think we should get more creative with powerscaling if we have to do it. Like “who has the best 🛌 skills”. Let’s at least argue over something fun, damn.
22 your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
This is going to be twofold:
- On tumblr? Easily Jon’s relationship with magic. In fact, people on here will go out of their way to argue that it’s actually not important to the plot, which is absolutely bonkers. Beyond warging, there’s a lot of weird magical stuff going on with Jon that should be put under the microscope. And I’d even argue that Jon’s a pretty special warg and cannot be compared to the other Stark kids (even Bran) because of how his powers manifest. Ghost is also obviously one of the most special animal familiars in the series (maybe even THE most special one), but no one ever talks about how special he is. A lot of people seem to believe that Jon will be KiTN, but it’s insane how we don’t talk about why it’s magically important for him to rule the North, considering his deep connections to Northern mysticism, religion, and lore.
- Elsewhere: the parallels between Jon and Bran. They’re essentially the same character base split into two (Seoman Snowlack, Frodo, King Arthur, Paul and Leto Atreides, Odin, etc). Both arcs parallel each other and are heading to the same destination, but the details will be different. This is getting to my last point, but I firmly believe we’re getting an ending with both King Jon and King Bran. I like to think of them as two competing but complementary sides of King Arthur’s tale. Jon is the one that is true to legend, as he follows the archetypal hidden prince-to-king trope. Jon is essentially “what if Arthur actually went on his hero’s/knightly quest?”Bran is the subverted one, where young Arthur gets a little detour; so “what if Arthur didn’t go on the hero’s/knightly quest but instead had to take up a job as a part time wizard?” Both will end up kings, just as Arthur did, but it will be different versions of the legend.
- Also: WTF is up with the Watch/Wall? What magic was used to build the Wall and who built it? Why can’t dragons cross? And why can’t wights cross either? What magic dictates that? What’s up with the Nightfort? Why does one only need to say part of the vows to open the gate? And what’s up with the NW vows? Why do they give Lightbringer vibes?! Is the NW Lightbringer? The NW is directly credited with the ending of the Long Night so was the last hero a member of the original group? Who was he? What happened to him after? If the last hero inspired AA then did the NW (and their vows) inspire tales of his flaming sword? And why did the relationship between the Watch and the CoF fizzle out? When did it fizzle out? And who are the LCs whose tenures have not been recorded? Why did they only start recording in the 600s (iirc)? What other history has been lost over time? Who was the Night King? Where did his half-human children go? Need that old man to answer these stat
25 common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing
Several people will block me for this…but King Bran. Look, I get that Bran isn’t the most popular character out there. But so many people convinced themselves that he would die in that cave or he would amount to nothing which is very, very strange. And it also doesn’t help that a lot of the complaints reek of ableism.
GRRM obviously considers Bran to be central to this series. He is the first viewpoint character (and potentially the last one). He is the most magical character in the story. The scene that birthed ASOIAF came about because of Bran. It’s also said that GRRM considered writing the books through Bran’s POV but decided against it pretty quickly.
Anyone who paid attention to Bran’s story would know that we’re going to get some huge payoff to his story. In fact, I think it’s safer to assume that kingship has always been in the cards for him. I think most of us Bran stans thought he’d be KiTN (actually some of us over at Westeros.org thought he’d end up as the final Lord of Harrenhal). I never once considered King of all Westeros but I’ve had time to think about it ever since the show ended and I’m like, “duh!”. It’s thematically relevant and sound for Bran to end up king. We’re about to enter into a winter apocalypse but Bran’s direwolf is called Summer. Not only is he the representation of summer (which means renewal, rejuvenation, etc.), but he’s also fashioned after the Fisher King. He is also the second coming of Brandon the Builder - who constructed castles all over Westeros, not just the North; and if legends are true, this happened after the Long Night. He’s following after the footsteps of the Last Hero, and is the only other character apart from Jon who is actually fighting in the front lines against the Others. He’s going to be super important!
I can understand some of the questions people having regarding King Bran, mainly those of a political nature. But we’re left with two books. And two books is plenty to move the necessary pieces for Bran’s crowning. Hell, did people expect that Dany would be Queen of Meereen as they started reading ASOS? Most didn’t. A lot can happen in two books. A lot can happen in a singular book. GRRM has enough time to set up a scenario on which Bran is the only one left to rule.
I personally think that the apocalypse will essentially destroy Westeros as we know it, leading to the creation of a new kingdom(s). D&D botched the GoT ending so people have a hard time seeing the thematic weight of a boy who represents summer rising to kingship, but the books lay enough groundwork imo. And I think ACOK shows us that Bran, despite his age, would make a wise ruler. So I’m all for King Bran. Not only is it thematically sound, but I love the idea of a disabled kid rising to power at the end since we don’t see that in a lot of fantasy.

They're on iplayer but I don't know how people pirate anything off there (esp because I'm reliant on a vpn just to access iplayer and I don't have the bbc thingy needed to download) I would like to learn some bsl but I don't want to use up my free vpn time just to rewind repeatedly.

First and foremost I just want to say that I’m not the best at wording what I want to say and that this ask is meant to be respectful and loving towards you and your decisions and I’m extremely sorry if it comes off as something else! I’m usually a silent observer on here due to extreme anxiety but your art has such an impact on me that I just wanted to let you know how much it means to me.
I don’t really know how to put into words on how much your work will be missed by me. I only recently got into Heat as I watched the movie for the first time literally a few days ago and I was absolutely thrilled to see how many posts and amazing artwork you have contributed to the fandom. You really were carrying the entire Heat and Neil/Vincent fandom on your shoulders.
Your work has also inspired me to draw some more and the last few days I’ve been drawing Al Pacino and Robert De Niro for hours and I don’t think my hand will ever forgive me. Your art was quite motivational to look at as I’m a beginner artist, who hopes of one day gaining half of your skills, so I enjoyed looking back at your art whenever I became discouraged. (Especially the one small comic of them kissing over the desk, that was my favorite for sure and I think about it at least every hour!)
I am honestly gut wrenched to see that you have taken down so much of your work and l only have the few Al Pacino and Robert De Niro drawings you have left on your page to show my friends in an attempt to describe the art that has disappeared. I really really really do hope you reconsider taking your art off the internet for good as I personally absolutely adored it and it’s great addition to such a small fandom. Speaking of which, is there perhaps another place where you have your artwork still up?

I... have been involved in the fandom for 2 and half years now, sharing my fanarts... It was fun until it wasn't, and, combined with IRL factors, I just needed to remove myself from the social media aspect of it. Social media is not made for fanwork... for all this time I've watched my most low-effort posts always, always taking over my art. My most popular Heat post was a bunch of pictures of De Niro circa 1995... after that were screenshots of dumb reddit comments, then low-effort black&white sketches, then the high-effort stuff. That's a normal outcome for social media; it's not personal either - but it just shows it's unsuited for fanwork & artists. And it's hard not to let it become personal after all that time putting out art and stories that are personal to me. I know plenty of people share their stuff here and keep on going through the limited engagement - I might just not be strong enough for that. I just need to leave before any more damage is done to my relationship to art. I do not wish to be here anymore, and, for now at least, my Heat fanarts are an extension of me.
So... once again, thank you for reaching out and sending me this message. It means a lot. I'm sorry you probably won't be able to find much more of my art. You should have reblogged it or saved it locally, haha. Keep on drawing and on observing the world, that's how one gets good.
As to how you can find my art: for my fanarts, they are currently set to private here, so while it's not impossible that they become viewable in some way in the future, I'd recommend not expecting it. I've also never posted them on other platforms, so right now they are effectively only visible through the reblogs floating around. Also since a mutual asked and i think a lot of new people are getting into the sims here are some packs/mods/cc stuff i think is necessary based on my gameplay. i will try to include links to anything that needs them (i dont have torrent leaks so someone else can provide!). And also these are just my opinion haha feel free to add on! This will be long so its below cut
1: packs: this wont include all packs, anything not listed i gen havent really thought about enough to put in my list.
Necessary packs: seasons, get to work, get together, city living, cats and dogs, dine out, tiny living, parenthood (based on watching other simmers i dont own this)
Packs i think are fun but not necessary: eco lifestyle, werewolves, spa day, vampires, paranormal, nifty knitting, laundry day,
Packs i want to get but dont know much about: cottage living, snowy escape, dream home decorator, the wedding one, highschool one, toddler stuff, kids room, parenthood
Packs i have but i find to be meh: realm of magic, get famous (only slightly),
Packs i will never get willingly (meaning i would never pay for this full price): journey to batuu, strangerville, my first pet, vintage glamour, romantic garden, spooky stuff, luxury party
Kits: scam, but they do seem cool overall. desert luxe is a great build kit just for the curtains alone (i got this for free during a special time offer).
2: mods that i think are necessary
I dont play with a lot of mods so the only thing i'd highly recommend is MCCC (or mc command center): LINK
this mod allows you to control so many aspects/cheats in your game so much easier from allowing polyamory to inducing labor in your sim to aging people up, to editing sims in cas, this mod really can do anything and everything its a staple in the community!
one mod i wouldnt recommend (unless there was a recent update to it...) is the remove EA eyelashes mods as at least for me it gave me a lot of glitches with occult sims having no face at all! so i stopped using it
Other important mods that i dont use yet but a lot of people use and i will be using soon: stop werewolves from howling in cas (believe me its so fucking annoying), stop vampires growling in cas, stop spellcasters in cas (cant find the link to this) (you can also apparently use cheats on the clockspeed to get them to sto moving i think...)
Modthesims is a good resource for any mods you want to find! I also search reddit occasionally for recommendations. Plus id recommend to go on youtube and watch simmers who use a lot of mods for popular ones!
3: custom content how to
Custom content are things you add to the game such as clothing, furniture, makeup, etc!
There are a few websites you can get custom content (cc): the sims resource, tumblr (just type in sims 4 cc!),, and soon the sims 4 will be partnering with cursedforge for things so look out for that!
cc creators i love/have loved: pralinesims (i think they stopped making cc?), kijiko, grimcookies, bergdorfverse, twistedcat (for eyebrows), sheabuttyr (previously savvy!), candysims4, johnnysims, ridgecookies, spectacledchic (though i dont think they make cc anymore but i used to love their clothes esp in sims3. it just may not be updated anymore!), shakeproductions,
some important cc to get imo: kijiko's 3D eyelashes (recommend the accessories one and the perma ones so you can wear glasses), a default skin overlay (i use ediurnes'), a default eyecolor set,
Maxis or realistic cc? -> some people love sims to be hyper realistic so there is a lot of cc in that category. Maxis match means custom content that matches the sort of cartoony style of the sims 4. I prefer maxis match hair and stuff but i do use realistic cc for clothes/skin/eye color/eyelashes. You can do whatever you want.
Make sure you always download the MESH: some cc is a recolor of another cc! So if you download the recolor without the original mesh it wont work. esp on tumblr at least or on download sites they should specify if its a recolor or not and link the mesh!

Gotta love how according to detractors Engage is simultaneously an insignificant game no one cares about anymore but also holds an iron fist over the fandom to the point where they are supposedly oppressed for not liking it. Which is it? Does no one care about Engage anymore or do people care about Engage so much the fandom oppresses those who dislike it?
Oh really, it's neither.
We keep talking about it. I remember in one of his most recent videos Ghast said "discussion about Engage are at it's lowest" which got a chukkle out of me. Cause like, discussion about Engage are still super active. Like, I recently started on TwittX and today I woke up to 139 followers ! My Engage content got me a lot of new followers and the video I posted about it reached 232 view in less then 2 weeks. The original soundtrack just released and all day it was just Engage fan gushing about it ! We got a lot of Engage unit in Heroes and the manga is soon releasing. Discussion about the game are super active !
But also, the whole oppress makes me laugh cause if anything I saw people getting oppressed for liking it ! Say you like Engage on reddit, you'll get mass downvoted. Don't get me started on ytb. People will try to tell you you have as much IQ as a 3 year old for liking this game because "cringe, bad, chessey" or whatever lol. We are just tired of people who will say "game bad" and then proceeds to admit they skipped the cutscene. I mean...
I swear to God, that's going from "haha ha, ridiculous " to "ok now y'all are just pathetic". Like someone even tried to tell me that the game was trying to take responsability off Zephia because "it established that Sombron raised Zephia and taugh her many wrong things" (yes, really)
I am getting tired to see people who genuinely believe that Zephia is Veyle's mother, and don't get me started on that one person who managed to believe she was both Veyle AND Alear's mother. And there was that one person who called it a deus ex machina that the Emblem used the miracle to revive Alear because they though it was the same power as the one they bestowed every 1 000 year, never mind that Sigurd literaly explain in chapter 18 that this is a different power. People for some reason keep asking how Alear managed to summon the Emblem back when Sombron "closed the portal" even though both Sombron and Alear says at least 3 times in less the 3 second that Sombron didn't closed it completely !!
Heck, one of those "genius" tried to debunk the response I made to the 2hour long video art becomes obligation and he straight up said that "the story never established Sombron as arrogant"... I kid you not
Because he completely forgot that Sombron murdered the only person who can summon them and absorbed all their power... even though in chapter 25 Alfred explained that the Emblem lost their millenial power because of Sombron and can't perform the miracle any longer, so no one need them anymore.
They really believe we can take them seriously when they do that ? Of course not, they are just making a mockery of themselves. Nothing more, nothing less. Taking a stab at why Youngwoo might have been 'clueless' about their dating status
I have been thinking a little bit on the whole whale couple relationship journey since episode 13 and 14 left me with a molehill of thoughts to deal with. And also because I've seen some tweets floating around blaming either Youngwoo or Junho for their conflicts, sadly. So while thinking about things, I came across this reddit post, which I found really enlightening on NT-ND relationships.
I definitely am no expert whatsoever on ASD, nor do I have any personal experience with romantic relationships with people on the spectrum. But I thought that I'd share this piece of information which might help others (as it did for me) shed light on Youngwoo's differing idea of dating compared to Junho's.
I think the parallels I drew between OP's experience and perhaps, in EAW's case, Junho's experience are that -- while OP had been going out (read: spending lots of time together studying, carpooling, attending the same lectures, having lunches together) with his girl(space)friend, she hadn't seen it in the same way as he did. It took a planned conversation for him to explicitly tell her that he liked her 'in that way' and that he would like to be in an official relationship with her. And after that realisation, she agreed to go on a few official dates with him too :")
This brought me back to when Junho had to tell Youngwoo directly (at the revolving doors) that he liked her [till he was sick inside hahaha] and their little period of navigation of what will come after their feelings are bare in the open. OP's official dates really is akin to Youngwoo's list of date ideas to get to know Junho better.
But I'm wondering too if the fact that they started off on different pages does result in all those misunderstandings later on. Perhaps not....? Because they should have already established a mutual understanding of where they are at in their relationship (me thinks).
I know that everyone's story is different but I thought that OP's story really helped me understand Youngwoo's POV a little more, since the show can only give us a small glimpse into her mind.
Btw, OP eventually proposed to his girlfriend by the beach (!!!) and her first response was did you ask for my parents' permission haha gosh, how adorable. Definitely something I can see Youngwoo saying too... UHMM... PROVIDED WE GET A PROPOSAL BY THE BEACH YES?

Keeps me sane. I think it's something I'm good at and something I enjoy doing, so I think I should do it if I feel driven to do it. Balance is important of course. Also, I can write, with some stuff, scenarios or character studies and relationships that I'd like to see.
🌈is there a fic that you worked *really fucking hard on* that no one would ever know? maybe a scene/theme you struggled with?
Let me have a look. Not really, no. For me, anyway, fanfiction is easier than original fiction. I try to write well, but I'm more likely to possibly be happy with a scene with fewer drafts than I might in original fic. I want it to be, basically, not stressful, even when I'm writing dark stuff. As a matter of fact, fanfic can be an avoidance strategy for me, so I'm more likely to write it when I'm a little stressed, than it actually stressing me. I have deleted and re-uploaded some of my dark fics (and even non-dark), a few times because I felt I didn't have enough confidence to deal with any potential backlash, and I get insecure sometimes (that was probably in response to crickets. Haha).
There are probably a number of scenes in my fics that I worked hard
at and it's good if the seams aren't showing. I don't know that anything was a struggle. I find if you're really struggling with something it's good to go on to a later scene and come back to the scene giving you trouble later (if it's a multi-chap), or write an 'and-then' draft, where you just get a big pile of prosaic sketching, really, on your page. And that's hard, cos' it can be kinda tedious, but once you've got that, you can really dive in and have fun with character, scene, dialogue, etc. I'm not discounting anyone's writing struggles. I've been there. But probably fanfiction has struck me this way.
Like, there is no such thing as a filler chapter, dudes. If you're bored with the final result, probably your readers will be too, so sometimes you've got to knuckle down, isolate, pick apart, put back together, and proceed. And nine times out of ten, I end up loving those paragraphs/ sentences / chapters. I don't think I answered the question, but there you go!

Interesting question. I can only speak for myself. I joined tumblr after maybe 3 years of writing fanfic, and I wasn't on twitter or discord. I belonged to a fanfiction subreddit, but I think the sub-reddit served to make writers more nervous of social media than not.
I was pleasantly surprised. tumblr and twitter helped me to see how much of fandom occurs away from AO3 or FFN, for one (most of it). And some story links I've posted haven't done badly in notes (which, let's face it, for fanfiction is when it goes into the teens), but people have also left comments on my work saying they saw my post on twt or tumblr, and even it my post didn't get me any notes, etc., it did get me some readers who left really nice comments, which was excellent, so it served its purpose.
People must curate their own experiences. I've banked a lot of self-worth on whether I get kudos or comments, and I'll still have dips, but the thing is, that for most people (not all), getting some traction is a bit of a long slog. Like, it was probably 6 months to a year before I really connected with anyone over my fics, and lots of good stuff came well after that.
But, although I do think it's important that community members support one another if the community is to be sustainable, individuals in that community need to know what they can or can't do. And there are different personalities, so different horses for different courses. Even stuff like these ask games can sometimes do a lot. Plus, I think lots of folks in fandom have a very intense attention span of a fly. So I'd also advise not to get too attached. People come and go.
Also, I don't think it hurts to research (like, I didn't!) on the fan fiction platform before uploading. If a writer's fic is OCxOC take a look and see how the OC fics go in the fandom, and tether expectations to that. Even if someone as a reader reads outside of the box, once they become a writer, they might want to realise that if they're writing what they like to read, it's no less valuable, but it might not be as popular as the more common tropes etc.
And really, if , say, you're flooded with antis or negativity, etc., on tumblr, twitter, etc., use the block/mute button. Delete where you can, and interact with folks that you vibe with and cruise along. If the social anxiety is too high, just stick to posting fic and disengage.

I wouldn't call that the worst take but I'm not a fan of it. (violence level: none, haha. Really this is an answer to 25: common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing) Reddit has WAY more bad takes than my tumblr dash.

Sorry any Bangel fans but I felt a little bored for Angel's return in S7, mostly the kissing and the cookie dough speech. It felt tedious to me, they wanted him to return for a cameo but he couldn't stay. (violence level: mild)

easy answer: If you don't like FAITH awkwardly reappearing in S7, you should watch her 6 eps on ATS. it's not perfect, but it's a helluva redemption arc. But if you follow me you already know I'm obsessed with Faith AND she's not really an unpopular character to most.
bold answer: KENNEDY! Kennedy should def get more love. As much as Tara's death hurts, if Willow has a new girlfriend it makes sense that she NOT be like Tara. I liked her attitude! And yeah, agree with your take about relating to her more than Tara or Willow. If there had been fewer Potentials maybe Kennedy would get more screen time and people would learn to appreciate her.
bolder answer: RONA! Rona was a jerk sometimes but I still liked her. I think Rona avoided Kennedy-level hate only because she had a smaller role / fewer lines. Like Kennedy she deserved more screen time.

I’ve been suspecting of having schizophrenia/Schizoaffective for a few years now and last month or the month before that (I cannot tell time anymore lmao) I got the diagnosis.
I dunno if this is wrong or inappropriate to ask but I was wondering what meds you have had experience with with the least amount of side effects. Not only do my delusions make me not want medicine but the side effects of some of these meds really suck especially the restlessness parts. I try Reddit but I mean I know every body is different and reacts differently/changes constantly. It’s almost wanting me to give up getting the right meds even tho I can’t really raw dog this illness anymore lmao

hi! i've only ever been on risperdol, vraylar and zyprexa, all of which are atypical antipsychotics. i didn't experience any side effects from risperdal, but it also didn't help me. vraylar i have been on for about two years now, and it helped for a long time but doesn't much anymore (and it caused me to gain weight). it probably should be noted that the max dosage of vraylar made me suicidal and put me in the psych ward haha so be weary of that and make sure to contact your provider if you start having thoughts like that. zyprexa i just started about a week ago, and it's made me suuuuper sleepy but i haven't had much trouble with delusions or paranoia since i started it, although that might just be because i'm super tired all the time now. my ADHD means i'm always a bit restless, so i can't say for certain if any of the medications i've been on have had that effect.
if you're very worried about which medication is right for you, i would highly suggest talking to your meds provider about having a genesight test done if your insurance covers it (only if it covers it though, because its pretty expensive). it shows which medications your body is most likely to be receptive to.
i hope you can find something that works for you! finding the right meds can be tricky, especially with antipsychotics, but if you're like me and get symptoms that are just too much to rawdog they can be a lifesaver.

Yepyep I saw the list of things, that's the reason I asked. I meant it more in the sense of 'do you have any idea where/how to find the ones still missing' but I should have phrased it more clearly
Anyway, like I was saying, I think I might have a couple of the ones on the list? Not 100% sure though, and afaik all the ones I have are from DNA (please forgive Muchlax in the corner, I had to throw a bunch of stuff out of the way and only had so much space) They're pretty much all manga but I did manage to score the petit book for a really good price on ebay some time ago
OH WOW, NICE!!! There aren't scans of any of these books online, as far as I know, and definitely not in the archive Volcanic manages over on the lore Discord. That Petit art book is an especially good find, congrats on that!! I've never seen that one for sale anywhere before.
I've been scoping out eBay, Yahoo Auctions JP, and Mercari JP for the books, in that order since eBay is usually the cheapest (don't need a proxy service) but Yahoo JP seems to have the best selection. Mercari JP usually has more of the popup shop stuff and merchandise instead of the actual books but sometimes books show up on there.

Is it normal to get somewhat annoyed at matty sometimes for being so vauge?? Lol. I just find it kind of like 🙄 when he drops his little hints or whatever. On the one hand, I think it’s nice that he’s trying to be more sincere and tell us stuff like… what ATVB was about, what ATPOAIM is and how it’s different, all that stuff… but he’s also so bad at finishing his own thoughts 😂 it’s frustrating. I feel like I only end up with more questions when he tries to explain stuff. I guess it’s endearing in a way. But sometimes I just wanna be like “bro it’s ok. You can just said you did a weird show last year because you wanted to be shocking and cool. And then you got bored of it and you’re doing a chill show now”
At this point I feel like.. he’s tried to tell us or explain to us why the change happened so many times, in such confusing ways, that he should just write something. Release an article or post on Reddit or something lol. I love him so much but the way he explains stuff is so hard for me to comprehend sometimes. Probably my fault.

Hmmmm, you raise a lot of interesting points in your observation. I think my feelings about this are kind of mixed but I’ll try to explain. I’ve been awake for 24 hours now, though, so forgive the messiness.
1. Does it frustrate me when Matty is vague? Fuck yeah! I always say that I don’t ever wanna meet Matty because it would kill me to only have a selfie or a hug with him. I don’t want that shit. I want, a solid hour of his time, just me and him. One on one. If he’ll let me buy him a cup of coffee or lunch or something so I could pick his brain about a million things I wish I could ask him. So….yeah.
2. That said, though, I don’t think that Matty’s ATVB show was ever meant to be shocking for its edginess or whatever. He’s said a lot of times that the idea of being subversive just to be subversive doesn’t really do much for him. Cuz, like, the goal of edgy and subversive art that does it for the hell of it is that order will ultimately be re-established. Like you’re not actually doing anything revolutionary. You’re just flirting with the idea so that someone will smack you down and tell you “that’s naughty don’t do that!” And everything will go back to the way it was. So, if THATS not Matty’s goal with the messy show, then what’s his goal?
Fuck if I know, lmaoooo. No, for real, I don’t know cuz I’m not inside his mind, but I’m guessing, just based off what he says and based on my own interpretation, that he was running an elaborate experiment that kind of ran its course. At its core, it was a continuation of Being Funny. So, like, deconstructing masculinity. But I think even more fundamentally than that, it’s about what it means to be a human being. Maybe I’m bringing my own literature background to this, but when he keeps saying “if it’s method acting but what you’re acting is actually you’re real life, then what’s real and what’s not?” I kind of understand that as, like, “is there an internal self outside of what we perform?” We all perform our gender, sexuality, morality, etc. we dress a certain way, we speak a certain way, we abide by certain rules and social conventions etc, is there anything else underneath that or is that all the self really is?
I think he sets up this whole acting thing just as “performance” to allow himself to really be open. Like, if he has conditioned us to think that everything he does onstage is fake then he can allow himself to be earnest and sincere without fear of judgement cuz any minute he can just be like HAHA JUST KIDDING YOU FELL FOR IT ! So it’s kind of safer than if he were to open up just as a normal human and start saying everything directly. So, by “acting” he’s in a weird way “being more real.” BUTTTTT we saw how that backfired so, I guess he re-evaluated? Or maybe he’d always intended on dropping the act eventually cuz, logistically, I imagine it would have cost Dirty Hit EVERYTHING it has, to bring that set over to the Asia, Australia and South America sides of the world. Idk. That’s one thing I wish I could ask him.
Judging by his deactivating of Instagram and the desire for more sincerity, it might be that his lil experiment kind of gave him the courage he has needed all along. He did it enough times with the safety net of “performance” that he’s sort of getting comfortable just being a guy now. I imagine the backlash he’s been facing (before Taylor. I’m talking podcast and shit) might have factored into it. Like he feels that everyone has this idea about who he is so he might as well just be himself and fuck everything else? Idk. Wish some interviewer would ask him about it.
Sorry for the long ass rant. I’m a mess. I hope this makes a crumb of sense but I doubt it honestly. You’re asking really smart questions though. I’m just too dumb.

BUSTAFELLOWS Part 2 - Shu Lyn O’Keefe Route
The best thing about this game is getting to skip to the next choice instead of being forced to just press the skip button and keep waiting until the next choice appears lol. The sad thing is that I'm actually used to waiting, and usually spend that time catching up on Reddit or Instagram so it's weird when I don't have to wait anymore haha. Anyway! The cat being called Cat and reacting to it as its' name is pretty funny lol. Trust Shu's route to have the most practical and mundane name for a cat. Oooh, I guess I should have expected Teuta to have a sexy black bikini on for Shu lol. Personally, I don't think it suits her and makes her look more childish? I'd say Limbo's cute one was better and matched her.
Oooh, so Shu inherited a list of hitmen who only kill for money from his Teach (guy who raised him and taught him stuff?) so he's killing these people? I think it's very kind and mature of Teuta to say that if she were to be asked if killing is right or wrong, she'd go with common sense and say it's wrong, but it doesn't change the fact that she wants to understand Shu as a person and know more about him. I found it really cute how Teuta gave Shu the last spoon of ice cream and just fed him it haha, the CG is adorable. Helvetica being good at cooking and taking lots of time on plating to make it perfect is so him. Aww, Shu giving Teuta a coupon for doing anything she wants is so cute haha. I wonder if he would do it if she actually wanted him to kill someone for her. Shu actually trying to listen to Teuta and quit smoking is the cutest thing everrr, I love him holding a lollipop loll. Lmao I love how Teuta got Shu to go with her and everyone to the pop-up amusement park with the coupon he gave her🤣 Aww, Shu teaching her how to shoot at the shooting range and being interested in her stories about her brother was cute. Teuta getting mad at Shu for not caring about dying and saying it in such a lighthearted way without thinking about the people who love and care for him, and Shu trying to understand why she's mad and cheer her up on the gondola is just so sweet and adorable. I love all their interactions so far! It was very kind of Shu to think about things from her perspective and then honestly communicate with her that he has no intentions of dying but there are no guarantees about the future and saying that in a gentle way to her, he's such a softie.
Honestly, I'm surprised Shu completely believed Yang and didn't question if he had any ulterior motives even if what he said "made sense". Considering how he's been chasing Yang for so long for apparently killing his own mother/Teach, I would have assumed he would be a bit more guarded against him, but I guess if he couldn't think of what Yang's true motive could be, he would have had to just go along with it and see what happens? Still, though. It's sad to finally see a scenario where Teuta goes back in time but is still unable to change the events she wants to change. I'm not sure how technology is in this game, but wouldn't they be able to check that no shots were made from Shu's gun? Mm I see, even if there isn't concrete evidence to pin it on Shu, if the governor was the one who ordered the assassination, I'm sure they can pull enough strings to push it on to him anyway. It's nice to see Shu at a loss towards Teuta's strong desire for him to not die, and omgg Shu holding Cat is so cuteee.
Hmm, maybe Yang isn't really that bad of a guy after all. I didn't expect Teach to be a part of the organisation they keep talking about, and that she was being hunt down because she left it, and it was that CLOSER hitman that killed her, and Yang wants to protect Shu because he knows CLOSER is after him. What I really enjoy about Shu and Teuta's relationship is how honest they are with each other when it comes to their thoughts, and how they both basically know they like each other but Shu can't take that step knowing his life is a mess and that he could die any time. I loveee their chat on the bridge or whatever it is, them telling each other their feelings and embracing each other, and messing with each other was so cute and natural. I love Teuta and Shu🥲 Especially when he recognised that he wouldn't shut the others out and would ask them for help instead of doing everything himself. Shu is so level-headed and cool. Not gonna lie, but CLOSER is kinda hot, too bad he died🥲 I completely forgot about Calamity Jane, so I'm glad Teuta at least remembered and recognised that Shu didn't actually die, and didn't despair over it too much. Shu comforting Teuta after being treated roughly and getting kicked etc was so sweet. He was so kind, so careful with her but also extremely warm, I really liked that scene of him holding her and soothing her without any regard to Yang in the background haha. It must have been tough for Yang. He wanted to save Teach but instead made her protect him and cause her to die, and then he finds out that he's the adopted one and Shu is the real son, so he feels like crap knowing that he "killed" Shu's mother without ever getting to hear from her own lips that she was his real mother, so he decided to take the page and get revenge alone since it was his "fault". I can't believe Yang is actually a girl!!
Shu's confession was so sweet!! My heart was beating a bit too!! Hahaha. I love the guy talk they had in Side B! Mozu laying things out straightforwardly was the best, he's so right, if asking Teuta out on a date isn't Shu's style then he can find another person who is his style then lol! And he calls himself a grownup! Hahaha. At least he's realising things now and is doing his best to make Teuta feel secure. I'm glad Shu wasn't like this because he was clueless but actually because he has a bullet in his head and he knew he needed to get rid of that properly before thinking about a future with Teuta. I'm happy he's being honest with her, apologising to her for not being clear with her and thinking about everything from her perspective. I like how Teuta was the one to ask him to be her boyfriend haha, so cute, so serious, but I love it. Teuta and Yang sneaking snow into the hospital courtyard to wish Shu a happy new year is so cute! Omgg I didn't think they could get any cuter, but Shu asking Teuta to call her parents so he can talk to them was the best! I love how nervous he was, but also how serious he was when he told them he wanted to seriously pursue a relationship with her and introduced himself because he thinks familial bonds are important. Could Shu get any more perfectly imperfect, honestly??😭😭 He tries so hard and always comes halfway with Teuta in terms of their differences, and I love it, especially since Teuta also tries her best to relay her thoughts too. I should have expected that Shu would know how to cook but I never really thought about it haha, his pasta with meat sauce honestly looks so good, I think I want to make it now haha!
Overall, I really loved Shu and I feel like he'll definitely be my best boy in this game. Shu is definitely popular for a good reason haha! The romance and plot were both great in this route and I'm so happy! I loved how natural Teuta and Shu's relationship felt as they both constantly and honestly communicated their thoughts to each other. They had their share of sappy love lines, but they also had a fair share of them having fun with each other, sharing their interests, sharing their pasts, honestly apologising to each other and clearly telling the other what they're thinking and I just loved that so much. The thing with Yang was sad and understandable, and made me glad that Shu made up with Yang and had family he could still cherish. But I also really enjoyed how Limbo and them helped out Shu, and how they waited at the hospital for his operation to finish, and it just made me so happy to see him cherished by his "new family" too. This route definitely has a great balance of romance, family and plot, definitely my favourite~

I really love hearing people's answers to my questions so no worries abt rambling, i loved how much thought you gave!! Riddle def has grey eyes and a personality that fits athena, plus head counselor fits him super well. I never realized how much idia was just like nico until you put it that way, god theyre like the same character.. i love your idea for silver and I adore the concept of nico chilling with the ghosts in ramshackle too, it's so cute. i agree a lot with your choices and it was super fun to read! if i get around to doodling these (and possibly stop being shy on anon) i'd love to show you and chat with you more abt these <3
ooh good luck on your exam!! i saw your ask earlier in the day but i had to think about it a bit, i actually wanted to try putting a couple other riordanverse characters like luke (or alex from the magnus chase series, don't know if you've ever read that one though) into NRC dorms but the criteria for what gets someone put where feels so vague in canon and i could not decide lol, will have to think more on those. though when i was deciding where to put annabeth (who, again, i know can't technically actually go there because it's an all boys school--let's just pretend for AU purposes afkjdghd) i did reference this amazing dorm analysis that i read when i was first getting into the fandom. also, i have Reasons for making silver a morpheus kid instead of hypnos that i didn't share because i realized it's based on info that's only been released in the JP version of book 7 right now and i wasn't sure if i'd be spoiling you on it.
when i first got into twst and had to pick a character's hand to take in the prologue i literally went straight to the ignihyde dorm, without looking at any others, because i knew it was the one based on hades, my favorite disney villain. and i took one look at idia and said "that one. that's my new fave and he's coming with me" (yep, it was him and not riddle LOL). and then i actually played through book 6 and realized he had parallels with edward elric, my favorite anime character ever. and then i found that meme on reddit and realized he also had a ridiculous amount of parallels with nico, one of my favorite book characters. so of course i liked him immediately. of course. i'm way too predictable.
but yeah if you have any other thoughts on what cabins/dorms the characters should be in feel free to share them!! and no worries about being shy haha, recently i chatted with someone on here via anon asks for weeks before i stopped being too nervous to come off anon.
