Period Comfort HC with Ace
Word count: 622
N/SFW
~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~
Ace’s devil fruit comes in handy during the time of month. His whole body can heat up, and he will spend as much time as possible spooning you or hugging you from behind like a big, chiseled heating pad, planting soft kisses on your head, neck, and shoulders.
One of Ace’s main love languages is touch, and what better way to show you he cares than to give you a massage, trying to ease the pains? His strong hands and hot palms work wonders for the knots in your back and shoulders.
He’ll harass Thatch to make you whatever food or dessert you crave.
There have been times when he’s tried his hand at preparing something for you himself, either to give it a personal touch, or because Thatch already had his hands full, and Ace wanted you to get your much desired snack asap. The results were… uhm, well, it’s the thought that counts.
That having been said, he has occasionally watched or even helped Thatch prepare the things, so slowly but surely, his skills in the kitchen are improving.
You won’t be doing any heavy lifting on his watch. You’re having it rough enough as it is. Letting you exert yourself, and make your pains worse when you got him around to help would be an insult to his manhood.
Ace tries his best to cater to your needs and wishes, though he can be rather clumsy at times. While the mishaps might briefly make you a bit sad or angry, you quickly recover as you realize that he is really trying his best and, again, it’s the thought that matters. In hindsight, most incidents were quite funny actually.
Whatever happened, he will try to make it up to you. Did he drop the ice cream? He’ll get you a new one. Did it fall on your shirt? He’ll be more than happy to ahem help you get changed.
Ace has been told (suggested, really) that sex can shorten the duration of a period, so maybe he could give you a helping hand in the bedroom, and make the pains end a little sooner rather than later. However, he sees how much you’re struggling, and doesn’t mean to come off as pushy or insensitive, so he won’t bring it up with you. However, he wouldn’t hesitate to get down and dirty with you if you ask him to “just help get it over with!” He’d be especially careful and gentle with you during these sessions, unless specifically requested otherwise.
You can lay your head in his lap and he will play with your hair until you fall asleep (or until he does, whichever comes first). If you’re having a particularly bad day, he’d just try to help you relax - slowly combing his fingers through your hair, parting is, massaging your scalp…
If you’re not doing too bad though, his usual cheekiness might just come out, and he might use the ends of your hair to tickle your nose, cheeks, neck, and ears. He’d stop if you got cranky, of course, but if you decide to play along, this will turn into a full out tickle war. You’d both be laughing until you’re struggling to breathe, or until, unfortunately, the reality of your situation smacks you in the gut again, and you have to stop. You’d lay back down, with your head in his lap, and a big smile on your face, as he now eases you to sleep for good.
As soon as you’ve drifted off, Ace will dip his hat over his eyes and go for a nap too. He’ll always have a hand resting on you as a way to make sure you’re alright, even when he’s asleep.

A thought - we have clearly underestimated what a single thought could do and what impact it could leave on us. Depending upon the quality of the thought, the duration its carried, or perhaps even the repetition of it through tongue and body, can be the cause of both, perpetual bliss or misery. Haven't you experienced it yourself, when your mind is overwhelmed with anxiety or when your heart is exhausted by grief, then how that condition affects not just your mental health but your very physical existence, you lose appetite for food, your sleeping schedule gets disrupted, your focus span shortens. The culprit being perhaps a single thought that's eating you away. Now turn the tables. Look for those days of your life when you were the happiest. Let's say for example your childhood memories, those carefree times, homestay with cousins, those wild trips into the woods, those hide and seek games you played - how a simple thought philosophy of just being joyous and playful turned your entire world into a replica of heaven. The power of thought is intense and leaves such great impact on all aspects of our lives. So next time a thought hits your psyche, analyze it, cut it deep, find its root and its origin. If good, then feed it. If not, then uproot it then and there and do not entertain it at all because the more you'd pay attention to a negative thought, the more it will spread its cobwebs all around your system, from mind to body to soul, until you become trapped in its entangled ropes. Now go one step further. A battle that's played on defensive very seldom wins and hence take this on the offensive front. Wait not for a thought to arrive at your mind realm but instead go to your mental workshop and create a thought wave. Plan it, engineer it to its finest details. Build it up. Tighten it and screw it well with your being. Permanently fix this thought with you not just mentally but bring it to physical world through verbal affirmations and bodily attestations. Like the thought that you'll not allow the world to any longer affect your inner peace. Build walls. Draw borders. Learn to say NO. Welcome only what's good for you. Prefer solitude to compromise on your standards. Keep building on that thought of inner peace being the top of your priorities and see how your life will take a shift like this point of time as I write this, the horizon slowly filling up with the light of sunrise...

Shadow Prisoner!JR Scheimpough x Prison Wife!Reader
- @mollicutes bullied me and encouraged me so here take this of my pathetic imprisoned baby girl + spoilers for part 2 of Inside Job
- it’s incredibly bittersweet to have had him again, after losing him, and have JR in your life. He was with you at work, with you at home, able to spend your days with him and not have to worry all that much. Until the end of reality comes caving in.
- you can’t catch a break.
- the initial action that landed him in Shadow Prison was stupid, I mean c’mon, invezzlement? But what landed him back wasn’t really all too upsetting, you understood it more than anything. He just broke.
- the final straw out of having to crawl his way back to living, freedom and life and you was how Rand in his efforts to reverse reality to get his family back, wiped out JR’s. The second the tattoo he had done and inked on his skin with your meaning behind it vanished in tandem with his wedding ring, that last thread of morality went with you.
- JR didn’t know and didn’t expect to make it back to you, didn’t think anyone would manage reversing reality back to its original course. But it happens, without him, but he still shoots at Reagan in the process. By the time he’s stepping foot back in Cognito Inc, the company he helped build, you’re there, searching for him and he sees that brief shift in relief at seeing him fine and okay transition into concern, fear, and grief once you see the cuffs he’s locked in. There’s a part of him that wishes he hadn’t seen it and another, bigger part that wishes you hadn’t seen it.
- He’s sent back to Shadow Prison, locked up tight and away from reach and it breaks your heart all over again. The second you get him alone he explains and you understand because you would’ve done the same thing had you lost him, had to see your entire life with him fade and vanish as if it were smoke and mirrors and the years meant nothing. You’d have gone insane. You make sure he knows that you don’t blame him. It helps.
- it’s hard though, having lost him, gained him, only to lose him again. But you make do. Bribing guards for more unmonitored or longer visits, the occasional conjugal visit, and sending packages when you can of things that don’t get swiped for contraband.
- you send in snacks and goods like cookies, he usually has to give a share to the guards monitoring his cell as penance but hey, they like you at least. He gets letters and photos that he can tape to his side of the cell, see you when he gets up and goes to sleep.
- JR tries to hide the death arena from you as something he has to deal with and it goes as well as expected — poorly. You find out and are terrified of losing him fully after having such a small portion of him left. But then again, the man’s incredibly fit, clever, and creative. He handles it each and every time and comes back because he knows he needs to make it out to get back to you.
- the duration of his sentence is something that gets shortened over time, through good behavior and your own work at trying to appease the robes and carrying out tasks JR doesn’t even know are being asked of you. He never will.
- on the bright side, you’re reaping the benefits of being a prison wife. People were already terrified of you as is, and after JR went to prison it got found out that you two were married, and now you’re able to do anything you need to, access to whatever’s within hands reach and beyond. The guards love you, you’re the hottest wife of the prisoners on the cell block, and JR wins bets on that every time. You chit chat with the guards and ask about their spouses and kids idly and it makes things much smoother.
- JR gets brownie points for both having and keeping such a great, hot, powerful wife and gets an easier time throughout just for that. And when he gets out? Gets to come home on parole, not allowed to work at all anymore with a non-compete order placed down by the robes, he relishes in how he gets to throw his weight around.
- he’s a tatted criminal who survived and made it through shadow prison, kept maintained his relationship with the love of his life with a bond now that is even stronger, and now he can scare the shit out of people and doesn’t need to be the one on his knees all the time. Only for you though
- in general, it’s not too bad, you get him back eventually and he more than makes up for the long wait. JR shows you just how much he appreciates you and how much your sacrifice means to him

My Favorite Masochist
Synopsis: As the lead healer, you frequently see Changbin for his wounds, and you don’t understand why he keeps hurt. Or, Changbin is an idiot, and you kind of are too.
Warning: mentions of weapons and bodily harm
Word Count: 2.3k
Pairing: son of Ares!Changbin x child of Apollo!reader
Camp Half-Blood AU Masterlist
Tumblr media
As the lead healer of Cabin 7, you’ve seen some things, including but not limited to magic fatigue, inadvertent self-poisoning, and of course, various weapon wounds, mostly of the sword variety. It’s rare for anything to faze you nowadays, but the demigods of Camp Half-Blood have a special way of doing so.
For the past couple of weeks, Ares’ Cabin has been undergoing a new training regiment or something equally as brutal because Changbin has been coming by almost like clockwork for a new injury or ailment. Two days ago, it was a particularly resistant fungus growing between his fingers, which was caused by Jisung of Demeter’s Cabin who promised that the fungus would start dying after six days. However, Changbin was not willing to wait that long, so you fashioned a fungicide made from ambrosia and hoped that the fungus would feed on it and die from divine power. It worked.
Today, Changbin has a curse placed upon him by one of your siblings: he has to perform a musical number every time he picks up a weapon. It’s an easy one to fix, especially since you’ve heard Dahyun cast it multiple times and since you’ve cured it the same number of times.
“You seem disappointed,” he remarks after he finishes demonstrating the effects. He leans his electric spear against the wall and sits down on the cot pushed against the wall. You note that he’s thoroughly flushed, either from simultaneously singing and dancing about a lost sailor at sea or from the embarrassment. “Was it not good?”
Remembering your manners, you applaud and then have him lie down. His performance was rather entertaining. “I’ve seen better, but yours was pretty good. I’ve never seen someone seem so genuinely heartbroken about having to eat seaweed for sustenance.”
“Really?”
You smile warmly and beckon him to close his eyes. “Yeah. Now relax.”
As you sing the first Delphic Hymn aloud, you monitor Changbin to ensure that he doesn’t suddenly start writhing. Curses usually can’t be broken by anyone but the caster, but you discovered that you could fast-forward them if you sang the right song. You shortened the duration of the infamous rhyming couplet curse by humming an old family lullaby. As for Dahyun’s favorite curse, Dad taught her it, so you assumed the song would be related to him somehow. You assumed correctly since the Delphic Hymns are addressed to Apollo.
When you finish the hymn, Changbin has fallen into a deep sleep. You let him rest. None of your siblings are in the cabin now, choosing to rehearse the musical they wrote in the amphitheater, so you can’t leave Changbin unattended. Instead, you pass the hour by trying to restring a lyre. When he wakes up, he’s a bit drowsy but otherwise fine.
“You’re free to go,” you say, handing him a lollipop. “What did you do to make Dahyun so upset?”
He carelessly smiles, and your heart skips a beat. “I might have said something about her music. It kept disrupting my spar.”
Dahyun’s pretty mild-tempered, but the surefire way to make her upset is to insult her new piano composition. It’s all she’s been working on this summer, and she’s been begging the Oracle to send her on a quest for inspiration.
“Don’t mess with her. Or any of us,” you add, thinking back to when Felix legitimately considered making plague arrows to get revenge on Athena’s Cabin for criticizing Cabin 7’s musical. “Apollo can be just as scary as Ares.”
“Yeah, I know. How come you’re not at rehearsals?”
The Trials of Apollo, the Best God in the World is a theatrical staging of your dad’s adventures, meant to appease him so Dahyun can maybe get a quest. It’s not exactly how prophecies work, but everyone was too excited by the prospect of a musical to care. Even though you’re not as musically inclined or as good as acting as your siblings, you would have helped with set design, but the latest shenanigans from Ares’ Cabin made you believe that your talents would be better off for healing. “I was expecting you to come by at some point,” you sheepishly say. “You’ve been getting hurt a lot.”
He shrugs and starts unwrapping his red lollipop, trying to act nonchalant. You see that blush forming. He pops the candy in his mouth and says, “That’s what happens when you train a lot. You don’t practice archery?”
“I do it for the Capture the Flag games, but it’s more important that I focus on healing since everyone gets hurt eventually. But since I know how much you love training, I’ll let you get back to it. Just be more careful, okay? Doctor’s orders.”
He pauses, like he’s debating whether to follow your instructions. When you narrow your eyes, he sighs. “Yeah, sure. See you tomorrow.”
It takes you a second for it to register, but when it does, you whirl around. “Tomorrow? What do you mean?” you say, but he’s already gone.
The next day, you are rightfully upset because Changbin is back like he promised. This time he has electricity sparking off his skin and a burn all up his forearm. He also has his electric spear with him, but worst of all…
“Why are you wet?” you gasp in disbelief. You grab a bar of ambrosia from the cabinet and hurry over because from what you can tell, he thought it would be fine for him to spar in a pool of water with his signature weapon. He should know better! “What did you do?”
He gives you a long, convoluted tale about letting someone borrow his spear and then something about Chan interrupting by opening a spring in the ground. It doesn’t matter. You take his spear away from him and have him towel off before examining the damages. He’s not as worse for wear as you thought, so you make him take a single of ambrosia while you rummage around for burn cream. As you do so, you softly sing the second Delphic Hymn to speed up the healing process.
“Are you singing in the musical?” he interrupts.
You finally find the cream hidden behind a roll of bandages and sit beside him on the cot to apply it. “No, why?”
“You have a nice voice. It’s very soothing.”
You concentrate very hard on spreading the cream evenly and mumble, “Thanks.” After a second, you continue where you left on, trying to ignore the heat on your cheeks. You get compliments occasionally from your patients, mostly the newer campers, and they always make you shy. However, this is the first time in about fifty visits that Changbin has said something. As the hymn ends, you note that he’s no longer humming with electricity and that his burn is beginning to heal.
“You’re all set,” you say, screwing the lid of the burn cream jar back on, “but promise me you’ll actually be careful. You’ve been getting hurt a lot. Wear armor at least.”
You expect him to protest because of “training” or something, and you are correct. He begrudgingly agrees when you threaten to have Dahyun curse him again. She could probably revise the words a little so he has to perform an even more ridiculous number.
At the mention of musicals, he asks, “The musical’s on Thursday night, right? Are you watching it?”
“Of course! Are you, or is it going to interfere with training?” you joke as you put away your supplies and his used towel in the laundry bin. Ares’ Cabin tends to be strict with their regiments, but Changbin seems to be the one who sticks to it religiously.
“I don’t really know yet. It depends on a few things.”
You hope he does go. Not only does the musical sound spectacular, you’ll have a chance to see him on the rare occasion that he’s not busy with training and recovering from training. “You still have two days to decide, but you really should go! They put in a lot of work, and Dad said he’s going to come and watch too! It’ll be really fun, and if you sit by me, I’ll tell you everything about the show.”
“I’ll… think about it.”
That cheers you up. Though you’ve only dropped by rehearsals several times, you know how much effort everyone has put in since you often go to bed to the sounds of humming and whispering. You return his spear to him and send him off with instructions to get some fresh aloe vera from Demeter’s Cabin. Normally, all patients get a lollipop, but you don’t think he deserves one today after being an absolute idiot. He promises to take care of himself, and you really, really hope he’ll keep it. At this rate, you’ll have to set up a station in the arena to stop him from doing stupid things.
The following day, Changbin comes back, this time with a friend, Hyunjin from Aphrodite’s Cabin. Hyunjin is completely fine, but Changbin has a large cut up his arm and a very distressed look on his face.
“Hi, poisoned sword,” Hyunjin says as he pushes his friend towards a cot. “It was my fault since I’m an exceptional swordsman, so don’t blame him.”
“What happened to armor?” you sigh.
As you tend to the wound by dripping nectar into the gash, Changbin remains distressed, not making a sound even when you accidentally elbow him, and Hyunjin is either growing more restless or irritated judging by his off-rhythm foot-tapping. Despite Hyunjin’s words, he must have lost the spar even with a poisoned blade. You sing another hymn, which does nothing to ease the tension in the room.
In an attempt to break it, you muster some cheer. “Okay, you’re all good to go,” you brightly say. “It’ll take some time for all the poison to leave your system, but it doesn’t look too bad right now.”
Changbin finally finds his voice and thanks you. You wonder if this is his first time being poisoned because you have never seen him so rattled before. The camper from Hades’ Cabin once stabbed him with a Stygian Iron sword that nearly stole away his soul, and he seemed perfectly calm through that affair. But surely almost losing your soul is objectively worse than a mild poison?
“Changbin has something to ask you,” Hyunjin announces, snapping you out of your thoughts. “It’s about the musical.”
“Sure, what is it?”
After a moment of silence, Changbin asks in one quick breath, “Do you think you can set up an archery match with me and Apollo?”
“I could ask him tomorrow night. Felix probably wants to do the same.”
“Sounds good.” He gives you a big smile and starts edging towards the door. “I’ll see you… whenever.”
Before he can even make a full turn around, Hyunjin stops Changbin with a hand. You’ve never thought children of Aphrodite could be frightening, but the steely look in Hyunjin’s eyes is enough to make anyway, mortal or demigod, cold. “Don’t make me charmspeak you into doing it.”
“You won’t do it.”
“I can ask my mom for a favor, and she can make it even worse for you.”
What could she do for Changbin? As you eavesdrop on their conversation, you busy yourself with straightening the sheets and reorganizing the first aid kit. You don’t recall Aphrodite carrying any weapons, but she does have a connection to Ares, so maybe she’ll pull some strings and do something to Changbin that way?
After a heated discussion that probably should’ve taken place elsewhere, Changbin suddenly turns to you and bursts out, “Do you want to watch the musical with me?”
Hyunjin’s threat makes sense now. Your smile and cheer are genuine when you tell him, “You found time after all! Yeah, I’d love to.”
A second later, Hyunjin clarifies, “Like a date. Because he’s had a crush on you for ages.”
With his face fully pink, Changbin hisses for his friend to shut up, making you laugh. You reiterate that yes, you still want to go with him and would be happy to hold hands during the entire musical, which makes Changbin turn a brilliant shade of crimson. Gods, you can’t wait for tomorrow night.
Opening night of The Trials of Apollo, the Best God in the World is a success. The music is beautiful, the acting is all right, and the costumes are a little strange, but again, the music is beautiful which is all that matters. As promised, as you hold hands with Changbin all throughout the performance, you lean in close to whisper explanations about the stories. Compared to the evening air, he’s warm, and you stick by his side. He’s rigid as a board, shocked by a simple gesture like this, but he doesn’t pull away.
After the curtain call, you drag him to the stage to meet your dad, who unfortunately cannot partake in the archery competition because he’s only here for a few hours. In the midst of a conversation, Dahyun bounds over to ask about the Oracle and a quest. She glances at you, Changbin, and your clasped hands momentarily before smirking. He blushes and starts mumbling about how he needs to challenge Felix to an archery competition now that your dad is busy. You try to ask him about your sister’s weird smirk, but he insists he doesn’t know anything.
Later that night, you confront Dahyun about it. A similar smile spreads across her face.
“He’s been trying to fight everyone just so he can get hurt badly enough to see you,” she replies. “It was cute at first, but then he kept not asking you out, and it was not cute anymore. I just cursed him without warning ‘cause he was annoying me. Gods, Aphrodite’s Cabin was so mad about it, you should have seen them! I heard they were planning to lock you two in the armory together if he didn’t do it by tonight.”
She continues on about how the other cabins had a betting pool, but you’re fixed on one detail. “He intentionally tried to get hurt?”
“Yeah.”
“But that’s so stupid.”
She sympathetically pats your back. “He’s an Ares kid, of course he is. He’s your problem now.”
Never have you enjoyed and despised a problem so much.

John Gossner's Treasury
Tumblr media
"And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: For their worm shall not die, Neither shall their fire be quenched; And they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh." – Isaiah 66:24
"And the smoke of their tormenting goes up forever and ever; and they have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name." – Revelation 14:11
"And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever." – Revelation 20:10
"These bad-hearted ones are like dried-up watering holes and clouds that scatter and melt in the wind. A place of deep darkness is kept ready for them." – 2 Peter 2:17
This is not written in the Bible in vain. If it does not concern you, it may concern your brother or neighbor. If you have no cause to fear eternity, and if you do not find it necessary at the thought of eternity to arouse yourself out of sleep and to preserve yourself from the enticements of sin, then remember that thousands of your brethren blindly and incessantly rush toward the terror of eternity, toward the fire that shall not be quenched. As you consider these words of Jesus, instead of sentimentally shortening eternity, as many would do, and letting the fire be quenched, at any rate after a number of years, and letting the worm that Jesus has made everlasting, die sooner, in order thereby sweetly to console yourself and your brethren, instead of doing this, I say, rouse yourself to prayer and supplication for yourself and your brethren, that God may move, turn, enlighten and save you and them, that you may not enter into torment; for the torment may, nevertheless, be of too long duration, seeing that Abraham said to Dives that there was no way and no door opening from beneath up and that none could leap across the ’’great gulf fixed." Pray, I repeat, pray, and do all in your power to save yourself and your brethren from destruction. It is better not to fall into this ’’fire" and not to come near this ’worm," even if it were true, as some think, that eternity is not eternal, that the unquenchable fire is quenchable and that the everlasting worm is not everlasting, that Jesus and His disciples have not expressed themselves accurately according to the sentimental taste of our times. Better, I say, is better. Save yourself and your neighbor before the fire begins to burn and the smoke to ascend.
But sinners, filled with guilty fears, Behold His wrath prevailing, For they shall rise, and find their tears And sighs are unavailing; The day of grace is past and gone; Trembling they stand before the throne. All unprepared to meet Him.

Lucifer
Lucifer makes sure to keep his brothers away from you.
By basically keeping you in his room the entire duration.
He attends to your every need.
But don’t tell anyone or else.
(Yes, this is a “threat”).
Mammon
Mammon highkey is gonna be freaking out.
Doesn’t matter how many times y’all go through the song and dance.
You are his most prized treasure and if anything were to happen to you—
Everyone is tired of dealing with him.
You find it endearing every time.
Leviathan
Honestly leave him out of it.
You can play games, read manga or watch anime
But besides that, please leave him alone.
He’s not equipped to deal with this.
Satan
Satan is a bit of a hit or miss.
He’ll do anything he reads in a book.
But sometimes your uterus plays using cheats.
So it's not that easy.
He manages though.
Asmodeus
Asmo is the type of person who knows a way to shorten your cycle naturally.
He also knows when your cycle is about to start, so he can pre game on the cycle acne.

The man, Joe Dituri, a former US navy diver and expert in biomedical engineering, had experienced a 20% growth in the lengths of his telomeres.
. . .
Telomeres shorten as we age, exposing the DNA to damage, and many longeivity programs today focus on halting that loss.
Another major factor was likely his body’s natural stem cell count—which grew 1,000% higher from before he went under. He experienced a 60% increase in the duration of deep sleep, the truly restorative state of sleep we all need to maintain our health that typically makes up around 90 minutes of our sleep cycle.
. . .
However, pressure, such as is found within a therapeutic hyperbaric oxygen chamber, has been shown to have several benefits which living under the pressure of the waves seems to have replicated.
“You need one of these places that is cut off from outside activity,” Dituri told British media about his experience. “Send people down here for a two-week vacation, where they get their feet scrubbed, relax and can experience the benefit of hyperbaric medicine.”

MANCINI'S SLEEPWORLD
I’m having trouble sleeping. It’s nothing new, I’ve never been great at getting rest. The cause is difficult to pin down. I’ve suffered insomnia in some form or another since I was young, though this most recent stretch has come on the heels of a diagnosis. After countless nights spent in motion, desperate contortion and gymnastics in attempts to find the sweet spot, I’ve become sloth-like during normal waking hours. My mother would tell you that I’m lazy, that if I just tried a little harder I could do a lot more. Part of me agrees with her and some days I feel superhuman when I accomplish more than three or four tasks. While the energy lasts I try to come up with ways to harness it. I scheme plans for the future, step-by step instructions on how to correct the course of my life. I do this while I wash every dish in the apartment. I play music loud enough to rattle my brain because I’ve discovered through trial and error that without it the duration of this feeling shortens by half. Bills are paid, fridge is stocked, laundry folded, I might even join a climbing gym. I text every person I think I’ve neglected in the time since my last up cycle, some reply, some don’t, I’m concerned about it, but impervious to the feeling in the moment and will lock it away until I’m down again to be dwelt upon like depression meal prep. These phases come and go quickly and without warning, I’ve learned that with the right combination of events and actions I can at times accidentally stumble my way into one. There are days I spend switching frantically between activities in search of a jump start. In actuality I can rarely force it, this is all done out of optimism, it is better to try and fail than not try at all when the alternative is this liminal state where at its darkest the only other solutions are to rekindle my old drug habits… fade away slowly, or kill myself and get it over with.
Every so often I decide to go for a late night drive, out of a need for fresh air more so than inspiration, but you never know. On these drives I find myself leaving the city, venturing out to the fringes where the roads are smooth and empty. I am looking for peace and the streets of Oakland are unpredictable past 9pm. I see the same signs the whole way out, repeated in various patterns along main streets and in plazas. Eventually small businesses are non-existent aside from the occasional nail salon or liquor store. Every space is familiar then, for miles of stroad the same names appearing again and again. Starbucks, McDonald’s, Shell, PetCo, Home Depot, Dominoes, Target, CVS, Safeway, Mancini’s Sleepworld. That last one, though just as frequently appearing as the rest, feels out of place. How many mattresses are being sold to warrant this number of stores? Definitely more than I expect, is what I’m thinking as I pass another electric blue sign post. The thought swirls and morphs in my head, soon it becomes my only thought, my eyes glaze over and I begin to drive on autopilot lost somewhere between now and later. At one point I convince myself that it must be a front, that inside of every Mancini’s Sleepworld there are drugs I can use to help solve my problem. It is somewhere between Pleasanton and Livermore when I see what feels like the eighth one and in a trance-like state I pull into the parking lot.
The engine idles while I sit eyeing my reflection in the glass. The outline of the low gas-mileage Japanese sedan fused with my silhouette, void-like it depicts my true appearance in the moment. I guess at what might be waiting for me on the other side. Trazodone, Lorazepam, Zolpedim, some other combination of molecules I haven’t yet heard of, and then I think I might want to see for myself. My seat belt unbuckles, my fingers search for the locks. It never occurs to me that the store may be closed, because when else would a shop that supposedly sells mattresses be open? The logic is loose, but enough. I’m not aware of myself as I get out of the car. There is movement, the sound of gravel crunching, it’s not until my hands grasp the door handle that I even realize what I am doing, the jerk as it resists my pull is what snaps my consciousness back into reality.
I’m aware of what has just occurred, it is normal, tunnel vision is a symptom of what ails me. They call it hyperfixation and it is both the key to my survival and what I believe will eventually be the source of my demise. I forget to eat and drink, I hold my piss for hours, agonize over details so minute their relevance is only perceptible to me, unable even if I wanted to break concentration. It is what keeps me tethered to the present, however tenuous the connection. I do not lack focus, I lack interest. Sooner or later everything, even these fixations, will seem pointless.
No longer under the spell I turn back to my car and am startled by the sudden appearance of a large man standing just outside of the passenger side door waving at me. He’s older, mid-forties I’d say, dressed as if he’d been out for happy hour and gotten carried away. His shirt untucked, tie loosened, even at a distance I can tell that he’s balding. He’s waving harder now that he realizes he’s got my attention and I stiffen at the sight of him. The keys are still in the ignition and the doors unlocked, if he wants he can easily jump in the car and take off before I can reach him.
“Hey!” he calls with his right arm extended above his head. “Are they closed?” I wave back, I don’t know why, emulating him just seems like the right thing to do.
“Yeah.” Now I’m walking towards him at a clenched yet casual pace, doing my best impersonation of someone who is unalarmed by the sudden appearance of a stranger. He waits patiently for me to reach him and then after a quick wipe on his pant leg shoves a thick calloused paw towards me.
“Gordon Jefferies, but everyone calls me Sticks.” I take his hand, he gives it a vigorous shake, then with his left he points over my shoulder. “Lookin’ for a mattress?” A single gold tooth, the third incisor, glints when he speaks.
“I— uh, my name is Malcolm.” He laughs with my hand still gripped in his. The laugh is deep, from his belly and the way he throws his head back makes him seem maniacal, possibly insane. The smell of whisky emanates off of him heating the space between us.
“Got a little ahead of myself there, sorry, I’ve had a few.” I tug a bit and he releases me. Still half apologizing he adds, “I’m only asking because I can get you a mattress, y’know if you really need one… or is it sleep you need?” I shake my head and take the opportunity to glance around the parking lot, it’s just the two of us. No witnesses. I wonder how he’d snuck up on me and then curse myself for getting so distracted.
“No, I’m okay. I was just checking to see if anyone was around.” He cocks an eyebrow, his voice suddenly serious.
“Why, are you gonna rob the place?” At that I sidestep toward the front of the car.
“It’s hard to explain— look, it was nice to meet you, man, but I gotta go.” I circle past the headlights without taking my eyes off of him, he follows my gaze but doesn’t move. It isn’t until I open the door that he responds, jolly again.
“Hey, I hear ya. Whatever happened to turning the lights out when you leave a place?” I nod and smile, sure that as long as I remain polite I’ll be able to avoid any trouble.
“Yeah, that’s just how it goes sometimes. Alright man well, I’ll see ya arou—-“
“You wouldn’t mind giving me a ride would you?” he says and all the air leaves my body. My instincts urge me to say, ‘no’. I should get into my car and drive away, but something else, something deeper, poses a question, Of course we know what’ll happen if you leave, what I want to know is What happens if you say, yes? and again I am consumed by possibility, consequence loses its meaning. Death at this point would be worse than never knowing.
“Sure,” I say to him and then I utter a phrase known to my generation only as a pre-curse for trouble in horror films, “where ya headed?” Sticks’s eyebrows rise in astonishment, he expected me to decline and I accept this as a sign that he can be trusted, at least for now.
Once we’re in the car angled toward the coast he tells me that he just needs to get as far as Alameda, ten minutes from my apartment in Downtown Oakland. Normally I would take the streets, meander my way back, kill time, but I hop on the freeway sure that the longer he is in my car the more danger I am potentially in. In the forty minutes it takes us to get back into the city we exchange only a handful of words. He asks about my job and I tell him that I work in bookkeeping for a law firm, this surprises him, he says I don’t look like the type and I agree. He is in sales, though when I ask what of his response is vague, “Oh, lots of things, whatever you need really.”
We arrive in Alameda after submerging momentarily to take the tunnels beneath the estuary and Sticks directs me to a hole-in-the-wall diner on the eastern side of the island, across from a halal corner store. He guides me in with his hand.
“Right up there, on the right, that’s the spot.” I pull up to the curb out front and put the car in park. He extends his hand again and I take it, with another exuberant shake he says, “Malcom, my man, you really saved my ass.” and as is custom I shrug it off.
“It was on the way, don’t worry about it.”
“Don’t give me that, you’re a good guy. Hey, why don’t I buy you a meal? Come on, at least have a coffee with me. You’re a coffee man, right?” Both of his hands now clasped over mine. I feel like I have no choice but to accept the offer.
The diner is expansive, reeking of americana and a forgotten culture of exploration and migration that shaped the early United States. License plates and steering wheels and exhaust pipes line the walls. The space stretches back past the bar where it opens into rows of booth seating. Aside from us the only other patrons are two bikers in matching leather vests mulling over toast as they watch sports highlights on the TV mounted above the bar. Their patches read “Dragons”. A large illuminated tank against the far wall is filled with exotic fish who peer at us through the glass. Our server, a boy in his late teens, follows us to our seats, eager to take our orders and get back to whatever he’d been doing before we arrived. Sticks orders us both coffee as well as the corned-beef hash special for himself.
“So, what do you do?” he’s saying to me as he fusses with the seal on a package of single-use creamer. For a moment I’m suddenly concerned about his memory, we’d already had this conversation in the car. I go to remind him of this, but before I can get a word out he clarifies. “I mean, what do you really do, y’know if you didn’t have to pay the bills?” No one has ever asked me this before, but I have spent my entire adult life thinking of the answer.
“Oh, well I write. Nothing published or anything, but I’ve always done it. If I had the time I’d probably do more of it, get better, maybe put something out for once.” The coffee is burnt, Sticks doesn’t seem to mind though. He takes large scalding gulps from his mug. I figure he’s the type who’s only in it for the caffeine, he’d drink anything as long as he gets his fix.
“What do you write?”
“I’ve dabbled in prose, screenwriting, some poetry here and there.” He nods at that last bit as if to say that I definitely look like someone who writes poetry, sensitive, detached, observant. I choose to take it as a compliment.
“Any interest in journalism? Interviews and such?”
“I mean sure I’ve considered it, but I’ve never really had the luxury of choice. Writers don’t make much money and I don’t have rich parents or anything so,” I let it drag, following my dreams has never really been an option and what-ifs only serve as fuel for my depression.
“Did you go to college?”
“No.” He frowns then with both of his massive hands wrapped around the mug, I can tell a picture has begun to form in his mind of what my life has possibly entailed. I drop his gaze then out of what I think is shame and we sit for a moment as he analyzes me.
“Well, if you’re interested I’ve got a proposition for you,” he says in an unexpectedly cheerful tone.
“Like a job?” I find this hard to believe by the state of him, what could some drunk salesman possibly offer? “I’m not really looking for anything part-time.”
“Oh no this would be a full time gig, it would require you to travel though and a bit of research, but you’d be writing.” His food arrives, causing him to sit up straight while our server sets his plates on the table. In the few seconds it takes Sticks is quiet, eyeing me for signs of interest. “You good with that? I’ll be covering your expenses of course, we’ll make sure you’re taken care of.” I’m thinking, Who is we? it’s all over my face, but he’s focused on his food now. Elbows on the table supporting the weight of his torso he shovels a forkload of potatoes and eggs into his mouth and doesn't wait to swallow before speaking again. “I know this feels sudden, it is and you don’t have to say anything now, but the job is yours if you want it.”
I’m stunned, the alarm bells are ringing again. It’s all too convenient. I have no idea who this person is, nor he me so why even suggest this? Because I gave him a ride? I can’t believe it. Still I’m intrigued, there’s no need to reject him outright, may as well suss the situation a bit.
“You haven’t exactly told me what I’d be doing.” His eyebrows jump upward and he coughs, nearly choking on his food.
“You’re right about that, there I go again getting ahead of myself.” He raises a finger and then with his other hand wipes at his mouth with a napkin. “Let me ask you something, you’ve heard of NYX I assume?”
“Yeah man, who hasn’t?”
“Ever try it?”
“Before my time, it disappeared when I was a kid.” He nods, as if for the first time actually processing my age in relation to his own.
“Well, believe it or not that actually makes you more suited for this. It’s something you oughta know.” As if I didn’t know, as if I don’t live in the wake of it.
“So you want me to research the Languor?” He takes a couple of bites and then leans back with a groan, a pinky finger rises instinctively toward the gold tooth for a quick polish. The words he says next are at a low baritone, nearly a growl.
“The Languor, for what it was to you, has already been done and I think I’m ready to put it behind me. There’s something I need before I can do that, you see...” There is sweat building at his brow, possibly from all the meat he’d just consumed. “This disease, this languor, it didn’t always stick. Y’know originally they thought that if it got ya, it got ya. There’s no coming back and that’s the tragedy of the thing ain’t it? We’ve sold that story ta shit, but here’s the thing, I’ve done my research here and there are at least fifty living people who have recovered fully with no lingering symptoms. I want you to find them, interview them, get me their stories.”
“Why me? You don’t even know if I can actually write.” He huffs.
“Doesn’t really matter as long as you take decent enough notes and record the interviews— That doesn’t mean don’t write the thing, but if we need to punch it up we can. I’m offering you an opportunity to try here.” Against my better judgment I start to believe him.
“And I can write it however I want? Full creative control?”
“Go crazy, just get me something usable.” With another groan he shifts his weight reaching into his back pocket to withdraw a phone. He taps at the screen a few times and I feel the buzz in my lap. “That’s my info, I’ll have a contract drawn up just call me in a couple days with your answer, sound good?”

You can be consumed by Saku’s dad The Unnamed One in multiple ways:
NOTE: You do not have to be human to experience this. Dude is a menace to anything that so much as exists or thinks about existing
Old fashioned hunting someone down and eating them alive
Stalking someone so he can devour them mentally and emotionally until he eats you alive or dead
‘Befriending’ someone or making a contract in which you eventually and/or gradually are devoured body and soul
You have the misfortune of touching him in his true body where you are pulled into the black while alive and feeling like you’re suffering 4th degree burns and frost at the same time, as well as a drowning sensation with every orifice filled with something akin to tar (which causes the burns/frost)
You look at his eyes directly or he stares at you to the point your mental breaks and you are consumed in soul (may or may not include body consumption). There is exactly a 1 second grace period if you do this yourself, and either instant or to be determined if he does it to you instead. It’s literally ‘on sight’
You think about him and suddenly have an overwhelming sense of dread and suffer nightmares for an unknown period of time that always results in night terrors when resting, and severe panic attacks if awake that strain the body into a shortened life span
You speak of him with him in mind or so much as use his title results in the above plus the sensation that you are being watched the entire duration you speak about him and hold him in mind, and you feel off balance due to your shadow feeling like a free fall (like one of those dreams that you feel you are falling, but you’re awake)
You are cursed with his shadow that will haunt you with night terrors when sleeping on top of developing uncertain yet vast tendencies the likes of which are mostly negative on the host. May or may not involve inhuman features and characteristics depending on the person afflicted with his curse. More than likely acquired by consuming/touching any part of him (blood consumption), a subject that has been tainted by him (eating shadow-frosted/burned crops and animals, or using shadowed tools), if in cursed environments that have become ‘shaded’, if you are a product of him (like SakuYoru), or if he simply inhabits/stands on/in your shadow
To name a few…

Understanding and Caring for Irregular Periods: A Comprehensive Guide
Tumblr media
Irregular periods, medically known as oligomenorrhea, can affect women of all ages and may indicate underlying health issues. While occasional irregularities in menstrual cycles are common and often not a cause for concern, persistent irregular periods may warrant attention and care. In this blog, we'll explore the causes of irregular periods, how to recognize them, and essential self-care tips for managing irregular menstrual cycles.
Understanding Irregular Periods:
Irregular periods refer to menstrual cycles that deviate from the typical 28-day cycle, characterized by variations in cycle length, duration, or flow. Common signs of irregular periods include:
Extended or shortened cycle lengths
Inconsistent menstrual flow
Intermittent spotting or bleeding between periods
Missed periods or infrequent menstruation
Causes of Irregular Periods:
Several factors can contribute to irregular periods, including:
Hormonal Imbalances: Fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone levels can disrupt the menstrual cycle, leading to irregularities.
Stress: Psychological stress can impact hormone production and regulation, affecting menstrual patterns.
Poor Diet and Nutrition: Inadequate intake of essential nutrients or excessive consumption of processed foods can disrupt hormonal balance and menstrual function.
Excessive Exercise: Intense physical activity or excessive exercise can affect hormone levels and disrupt the menstrual cycle.
Underlying Health Conditions: Conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), thyroid disorders, endometriosis, and reproductive organ abnormalities can cause irregular periods.
Tumblr media
Self-Care Tips for Managing Irregular Periods:
Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle: Prioritize a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins to support hormonal balance and overall health.
Manage Stress: Practice stress-reducing techniques such as mindfulness meditation, deep breathing exercises, yoga, or regular relaxation activities to promote emotional well-being and hormonal regulation.
Get Adequate Sleep: Prioritize quality sleep of 7-9 hours per night to support hormone production and regulate the menstrual cycle.
Exercise Moderately: Engage in regular moderate exercise to promote overall health and well-being, but avoid excessive or intense physical activity that may disrupt hormonal balance.
Track Your Menstrual Cycle: Keep a menstrual calendar or use mobile apps to track your menstrual cycle, including cycle length, symptoms, and any irregularities.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and support optimal bodily functions, including hormone regulation and menstrual health.
Seek Medical Advice: If irregular periods persist or are accompanied by severe symptoms such as pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, or fertility concerns, consult a healthcare professional for evaluation and appropriate management.
Conclusion:
Irregular periods can be a source of concern and discomfort for many women, but with proper understanding and self-care, they can be managed effectively. By adopting healthy lifestyle habits, managing stress, and seeking medical advice when needed, women can promote hormonal balance and menstrual health, leading to overall well-being and vitality.
Remember, every woman's body is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. Listen to your body, prioritize self-care, and seek professional guidance when necessary to support optimal menstrual health and overall wellness.

This not only benefits the patient by shortening the duration of the appointment but also enables the dental team to perform their work with precision and accuracy. Sedation Dentistry Kennesaw GA utilizes state-of-the-art sedation techniques administered by experienced professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of patients throughout their visit.
In addition to anxiety relief and improved procedural efficiency, sedation dentistry can also be advantageous for individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities that may make it challenging to undergo traditional dental procedures. By creating a calm and relaxed environment, Sedation Dentistry Kennesaw GA accommodates patients with diverse needs, ensuring that everyone receives the highest quality of care without barriers or limitations.
Sedation Dentistry Kennesaw GA offers a range of sedation options to cater to the unique preferences and requirements of each patient. Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is a popular choice for mild to moderate anxiety and is administered through a mask placed over the nose. This odorless gas induces a state of relaxation and euphoria, allowing patients to remain conscious and responsive throughout the procedure while feeling comfortable and at ease.
For patients with more severe anxiety or those undergoing extensive dental work, oral sedation or intravenous (IV) sedation may be recommended. Oral sedatives are taken in pill form before the appointment, inducing a deeper state of relaxation while still allowing the patient to remain conscious and able to respond to verbal commands. IV sedation, on the other hand, involves the administration of sedatives directly into the bloodstream, producing a profound sense of calm and drowsiness. Under IV sedation, patients may drift into a semi-conscious state or even fall asleep, depending on the dosage administered.
Regardless of the sedation method chosen, Sedation Dentistry Kennesaw GA prioritizes patient safety and comfort above all else. Before any procedure, patients undergo a comprehensive evaluation to assess their medical history, current health status, and suitability for sedation. This personalized approach ensures that the sedation protocol is tailored to the individual needs of each patient, minimizing risks and maximizing effectiveness.
Moreover, the team at Sedation Dentistry Kennesaw GA is highly trained and experienced in administering sedation techniques, monitoring patient vital signs, and managing any potential complications that may arise during the procedure. With their expertise and compassionate care, patients can feel confident and reassured throughout their dental visit, knowing that they are in capable hands.
In conclusion, Sedation Dentistry Kennesaw GA offers a transformative approach to dental care by prioritizing patient comfort and relaxation through sedation dentistry. By addressing anxiety and fear associated with dental visits, this innovative practice enables individuals to receive the essential oral care they need without undue stress or discomfort. With a commitment to excellence and patient-centered care, Sedation Dentistry Kennesaw GA is leading the way in enhancing dental experiences and promoting oral health and well-being in the Kennesaw community.

Unlocking the Power of Natural Remedies: Exploring Essential Oils, Herbal Extracts, and Homeopathic Solutions
Tumblr media
In a world driven by modern medicine, there is a growing appreciation for the centuries-old wisdom of natural remedies. Today, we delve into the realm of alternative healthcare, focusing on three prominent natural healing modalities: essential oils, herbal extracts, and homeopathic solutions. Join us as we explore these powerful remedies and unveil their potential benefits for overall well-being and specific health concerns. 1. Understanding Essential Oils: Derived from aromatic plants, essential oils have long been valued for their potent healing properties. These highly concentrated oils capture the essence of the plant, allowing us to harness their therapeutic benefits. Lavender oil, for instance, is well-known for its calming and sleep-inducing properties, while tea tree oil possesses powerful antimicrobial and immune-boosting effects. With a wide range of essential oils available, each brings a unique set of benefits, making them versatile remedies for various ailments. 2. Harnessing the Power of Herbal Extracts: Herbal extracts are concentrated forms of beneficial plant compounds that have been traditionally used to support health and well-being. Often taken in the form of tinctures, these extracts are derived from various parts of the plant, such as leaves, flowers, or roots. Echinacea extract, for example, is renowned for its immune-boosting properties, helping us ward off infections and shorten the duration of the common cold. St. John's Wort extract is another well-known herbal remedy that is used to alleviate symptoms of depression and improve mood. With their diverse range of applications, herbal extracts offer a natural and holistic approach to wellness. 3. Exploring Homeopathic Solutions: Homeopathy follows the principle of "like cures like" and uses highly diluted substances to stimulate the body's natural healing response. Homeopathic medicines, known as remedies, are derived from plants, minerals, and even animal sources. They aim to address the root cause of an ailment rather than simply relieving symptoms. Arnica, a popular homeopathic remedy, is often used to treat bruising, muscle soreness, and swelling. Another common homeopathic remedy, Chamomilla, is known for its calming effects on babies and children who are teething. While homeopathy is a controversial field, many individuals find relief and support from their chosen homeopathic remedies. 4. The Rising Popularity and Safety Considerations: It's no surprise that natural remedies have gained significant popularity in recent years. With their potential to holistically address health concerns and promote overall well-being, their appeal is undeniable. However, it is essential to note that natural remedies are not a one-size-fits-all solution. When using essential oils, herbal extracts, or homeopathic solutions, it is crucial to consider safety precautions, dosage guidelines, and consult with a qualified healthcare professional, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking prescription medications. Conclusion: Natural remedies, including essential oils, herbal extracts, and homeopathic solutions, offer an alternative approach to support well-being and address health concerns. Their time-tested efficacy, flexibility, and low risk of side effects make them an attractive option for those seeking a holistic path to health. However, it is always important to exercise caution, seek guidance from experts, and take an individualized approach when incorporating natural remedies into your wellness routine. 1.
