Oooh Fancy
Tumblr media
I just ordered this from Etsy, but in a matte black finish rather than brass, for our bathroom. SUPER excited, because I am now a middle-aged homeowner. It should arrive in early May.
My folks wanted to give @theraconteurasaur and me a housewarming gift, so we'll only need to pay an electrician to have it installed.
Fingers crossed that it's as great as we think it will be.

I can't decide if I love this or if I think it's horribly tacky.

Brain is buzzing.
On Sunday, @theraconteurasaur and I went to look at an apartment around the corner from us. Not bad, but not the winner.
We have four more viewings on Thursday night, two of which are more affordable (which doesn’t mean cheap), but which would probably require some work--in one case, prety serious kitchen renovations.
It would be easier to just have something ready to go, but there’s something appealling to me (right now, anyway) about making over a space that you’ll love. Have any of you done reno work in your homes?  What sort? What have you learned? What would you differently?
I know whatever you think is going to happen, it will be more expense and take longer than the plan, but beyond that:  Thoughts?

My birthday is just over a month away. Maybe I get this for myself?
Or this one?
I can’t decide if I’d wear it, or if I’m just happy that it exists.

I keep seeing this in my FB ads, and DAMN if it’s not starting to work on me. Do I need this bag (though probably in the charcoal)?

I’m feeling very shoppy today.
Over the weekend @theraconteurasaur and I went out for a bit and I got a new pair of shoes and some new underthings, so the itch should be scratched, but it isn’t.

Hey, Night Sweat-ers.
I am solidly in perimenopause, or something, because at least four nights a week, I wake up streaming sweat, with cold, soggy sheets. Not only is it disgusting, it means I’m not sleeping as well as I need to. (Also: sorry, honey.)
I only have 100% cotton percale sheets, and I’m thinking of getting Peachskins, since they keep coming up in searches for sweaty sleepers, but I was wondering if Tumblandia had any recommendations one way or another.

$60 is a stupid amount to literally wipe your feet on, but I still really like this.

Christmas For 1
I’m considering buying myself a bread maker. I used to have one, but it died after about 10 years, and I never replaced it.
I did make all my/our bread, though, for years and years. And I’ve just started getting really grossed out by store-bought bread. Even the multi-grain stuff seems sort of...wet? Gummy?
So I’m looking at getting a new machine. Maybe after the holidays they’ll be marked down even further.

I don’t know, mang.
I’ve done ZERO shopping for my family. Because reasons.
Anyway, in the past I’ve gotten my mom and stepdad movie gift certificates, because they like to see things in the theatre, and they definitely don’t need any more physical STUFF.
They always talk about going on Tuesdays, because they have senior citizen deals (they both LURRRRRRRRRV a bargain), so I don’t know if getting the 10-buck a month Movie Pass for them would be actually useful, or if they’d just as soon do their own thing.
I don’t know. I don’t know my family.

HIVEMIND?
I have the chance to go to Costco this weekend with a friend with a car.
I don’t have a membership (because no car, and I don’t usually need to buy things by the cubit), but I’m going to get some boooooooze, and I’m wondering what else I should look for there.
I’m a vegetarian, I have no kids, and I have a big bottle of real maple syrup already, which has sort of exhausted the online lists I’ve already looked up, so I’m curious to know what other things you think are worth looking for while I’m there.
Little help?

Reasons
I pay way too much in rent.
I’m going to have moving expenses in the next couple months.
I shouldn’t add anything else to the mountain of stuff I’ll have to move.
I have a mega credit card bill (and more to come) for Chester’s vet expenses.
ON THE OTHER HAND, I WANT ALL THE THINGS.
