The fanbase is scaring me, the redesigns brought up some weird people that are REALLY passionate about Liliana being half naked

Like theres a whole war going on on twitter rn and the poor character designer got harassed

My problem is with the amount of people upset with this, like i knew we had a bunch of pedos around because of the way tappei writes the girls, but damn i didnt think there were this many of them 💀

yes ive heard about that....... im answering your ask late oops haah but i hope the situations a Bit better..... the toxic parts of this fandom give me a headache but my usual motto is to stay off twitter, touch grass, ignore people, and then hold onto my own viewpoints unless proven wrong alsjdflsdj but like. yeah this fandom is a bit tough to stay in when it comes to certain circles (for example the amount of people low quality shitposting / ranting about the fandom or whatever on rezero ao3 atm in the past days/weeks is. mm. interesting). not my first time being in larger fandoms that make you sometimes feel like youre fighting in the trenches (you could name off a few big fandoms notorious for being toxic that date back to like 2016 and odds are ive been in a couple lajdlf) but yeah seeing people complain about liliana and capella's designs and then overly fixate on emilia's boobs when these three characters have more to bring to the table than just that and theres lots and lots of good things to say about the s3 trailer and their designs..... mm. yeah. im squinting hard at a few of the things ive heard on that. but anyway!!

like the new designs are an Improvement. In General. like ok, as a boob haver myself ("boob haver" is the funniest phrase to me alsdjfls but it is true nonetheless, i am one) i do not give a shit about emilias larger boobs like ok?? her boobs are bigger?? she is still my fav ever and sometimes it just happens when youre still a growing teen/young adult and emilias back to her more revealing main outfit when she wore a different outfit in s2 so the difference in chest size is really not that much. but liliana and capella? those are Improved designs. i think ive talked abt the treatment of underage characters / characters who appear underage on my blog before (and i definitely couldve worded myself better then but i stand behind the fact that some of the stuff otsuka and tappei do regarding this in rezero is just Unnecessary).

could designs like emilia's still be improved on in other ways? yeah 100%, just in the sense that there could probably be changed a bit to fit her slightly more timid and soft spoken personality. or you could take different directions on it in general if you wanted. ive seen some great redesigns of her main outfit!! though her main outfit in of itself is pretty nice to look at imo and its iconic and well-known for a reason. im of the personal opinion that i wish it was a little less revealing in the same vein that her s2 main outfit was (i like that outfit a lot!!) but its still a really solid design overall.

i had some faith after seeing the anime designers fix up typhoon's original design to be More Appropriate, and i love how the essence of liliana and capella's designs were kept the same. like its not just that theyre a little less revealing (and even then, theyre both still showing a lot of skin!!! which is good!!! i like the improvement while keeping the main stuff the same), but stuff like liliana's pants aren't transparent (probably to make it easier to animate?) and the yellow/orange gradient in capella's hair looks great!! they also both look more like grown women which is a bonus. unless youre Weird about this shit which is unfortunately a small percentage of the rezero community. like you cant win with those sort of people ig, bc capella's boobs are bigger too ljasdlfj youd think that win more people over.

also i appreciate capella's sports bra bc unlike elsa's outfit it Actually looks like it's supporting her chest. if youre someone with boobs and you dont have a flat chest, youre gonna need support when being active or itll Hurt. and elsa Does Not have proper chest support okay. ill forever wince remembering elsa's design in that sense HAH....

anyway but i digress. i got no clue what to do with toxic people in fandoms despite spending a lot of time lurking in large fandoms with loud toxic people haah.... its hard to do much about it especially with increasingly declining media literacy rates everywhere.... the notorious misogyny/homophobia/etc that can happen sometimes in anime communities.... that sort of thing. i kinda just avoid it when it comes to rezero in specific, or briefly talk about it on here, or rant about it to myself in my head or chat with pals about it in private if it really frustrates me that much!! and id say im a pretty patient person hah... im not frustrated often. and the fandom is not all weird people of course and i can attest to that as ive chatted with a lot of people here... ive also seen a lot of people leave due to the fandom's Issues which is. totally fair tbh.

and i think rezero is often a "baby's first fandom" so to speak... i dont mean that in a bad way of course but its more like its the first exposure to fandom and fandom etiquette and fic etiquette and that sort of thing when it comes to english circles. or at least its a pattern ive noticed, so my theory is that that occasionally that combines with toxic fans and then you get a few people complaining about the community and how bad our fics are on rezero ao3 ig lajdlfjsdlf. which is false by the way :<< and an annoying misuse of ao3 as a free creative archive :<<

but ultimately i hope the rezero character designer's alright (and honestly theyve done super super great work - like the anime Did Not need to give emilia a bajillion outfits and go above and beyond with improving liliana, capella, giving the suwens and their hometown a whole unique aesthetic, etc). and also while i have stuff to criticize with otsuka and tappei... and the toxic parts of the fandom hah... i still enjoy rezero apart from that and the uproar with the designs has not chipped away at me too much!! ive been in this fandom long enough i guess lmao i just roll with punches at this point T^T but i also just try to look on the bright side a lot in general so ;-;;;

these are the sorts of things i like to be aware about but i dont like to get myself super involved with it (since itll probably make it worse and/or make me stressed for no good reason lmfaoo) and i wont let it enjoy the parts of rezero that i do enjoy a lot (which is to say like. the other 98% of rezero hah). so. getting off twitter is the biggest godsend i promise lajdlsfj.

but anyway!! yeah i dont have much organized thoughts on all of this, this is just me rambling my feelings on it. hope this all makes sense anon <3

Giyuu Tomioka:

Isn't one for talking during sex so much, but occasionally something starts to slip out. He has trouble stopping himself, especially when it starts getting good.

You won't get complete sentences out of him 90% of the time, so when he does slip up it's usually...

"You feel-...", "Don't-", "I can't-..." and a mixture of short gasps and groans.

Often finds himself covering his own mouth with his hand because he's starting to lose his composure.

He'll make intense eye contact the entire time though. To the point it almost worries you.

Very into slow touch, loves to caress up your legs and tummy mostly. He's not usually one for rough, fast sex.

He's almost never the one to initiate sex, even when you find yourselves in a situation that will lead to it he'll stop and make sure it's something you're craving.

A bit shy, though won't ever admit it. Does everything in his power to keep the face bandages on during sex.

Along with being shy, he has a hard time asking you what you like or what you want done. So he usually does things (slowly) in the heat of the moment and then gauges your reaction.

Usually doesn't say much during sex, but if he gets a reaction that he likes, he'll usually boast about it a little (after he's done looking like a shocked, love sick puppy).

Gyomei Himejima:

Okay don't laugh but I think he would pray during sex don't @ me.

Gyomei takes a long time when it comes to foreplay, it's both because it's his favorite part and for his own peace of mind. He needs to make sure you're ready for him.

He's not one for anything else but praise. If you ask him to degrade you he will not do it. He'll be confused, why would you ever want that?

ok so i’ve been on tumblr on pinterest for years. i have had various dead blogs on and off for years. but today i finally caved and got the tumblr app for mobile and now i need your help because something that reading tumblr posts on pinterest does NOT teach you is etiquette. like, site etiquette in general, but more specifically tag etiquette.

to that end i, a (semi) brand new tumblr user, am sending out a call to you, seasoned tumblr veterans, hoping to answer some of the following questions:

when is it appropriate to actually add a response in your reblog and when should you add your response as several run on tags instead? is it based on something other than funny factor or do i just go off vibes

re: tags like “via user”- i’m pretty sure i know what that means but when do i. do that

am i allowed to just go crazy go stupid? how many tags is too many. how long is too long. i have a feeling the answer is “yes” but it doesn’t hurt to ask

this one isn’t tag related but what is up with the like button because so far i’ve basically been using it as a save function. is there an actual save function that i missed? what do i do with the silly heart button is what i’m trying to say here

So I've been using the Queue feature of late to ensure that I can keep y'all in premium BJR content steadily over time, and also just Scheduling posts more to space them out when I want them to go at certain exact dates and times. Great, right? Really mastering the whole "Tumblr smarter not harder" thing after nearly yeeting it out the wardroom window like a certain bottle of claret for constantly borking my Notifications and hiding the exact stuff I most wanted to see. And you know, giving me that many more intrusive post-traumatic stress thoughts in the process about "failing" people who send me nice things.

I thought I'd talk about my tiktok channel (Amber Flannery Field, the trans "only good tour guide in New York") since a few of you all know me through tiktok and I wanna get my thoughts out.

For videos, I think to help root and organize my thoughts I kinda think myself as doing an HBO-style prestige TV show and letting my emotional and intellectual growth over a course of a year being my "story arc." And I kinda especially like the idea of collecting all my videos at the end of a year and posting on YouTube it as a compliation of a "season," and that kinda structure I think helps motivate me and think of ideas and where to take the next video.

And TV structure is this kinda thing that's shared with TikTok, where I'll always have a large audience of people watching me for the first time but then loyal viewers following me every episode. So, as a TV show, I'll have "filler episodes" where I'll either do a silly shitpost or just a general fun "fast fact" video, but then I have "continuity episodes" where I do video essays, some of which actually have an internal stand-alone story structure to it and slowly little by little reveal my weird backstory (I haven't even begun on the reveals) that also advances the "plot" or shows my growth and reveals information about myself to the point where you can see a lot of growth between my first couple of videos and my most recent ones.

I have like three more videos I want to do and then I'd hit a year on TikTok and I kinda want my final video to be a "season finale" of sorts. The video I'm probably most known for is on White People Jazz, and the season finale will be a sequel to that one (and a less popular one, on Game of Thrones/transmisogny) - specifically again revisiting the subject of appropriation through the word "Slay," and it'll have it end with what I think would be a very dramatic mic drop to leave viewers hanging on.

And then coming back, kinda thinking of prestige television, the first episodes of a new season sets up new problems and new motivations for a character based on what happened in the previous year, and I think a fun semi-fictional motivation to come back to is "my New Years resolution is to get more enemies."

I think it's especially a fun contrast to the previous "season" where a lot of it was about my survival and search for community, and then I sorta cleave into tiktok etiquette and start trying to (lightly) start shit with random tiktokers.

And after a couple of "filler" episodes (it takes the algorithm to catch back up after hiatuses) I wanna do this series of three video essays - effectively a story arc - on "transtagonism" and basically my relationship with negative feelings towards people; competitiveness, pettiness, envy, jealousy and so on.

And I don't know where to go from there. I mentioned HBO Prestige shows as being the sorta structure of my videos, but another structure I borrow from is professional wrestling. There, they do long-term storytelling but they can't really plot everything out because wrestling is so unpredictable that they basically make it up on the fly; you can't plan a long-term storyline if a wrestler gets injured.

So you kinda have to rely on strong motivations and improvise, which I think is one of the things I do with my videos. A lot of them are like 40% improvised, where I'll go in with an essay already written but then completely throw it out and arrive to a different conclusion or location on the day of shooting.

Anyways, this is all pretentious nonsense, but it's fun.

Summary: It’s just an angsty shitpost of a fic while I wait for season 2 to confirm that they have in fact ruined everything. Wednesday is smitten and a little annoyed about it. She’s trying very hard to provide a little romance for a Larissa who’s clearly in need of some. If Wednesday reads as a little neurospicy that’s probably just author projection. Her being smitten by Larissa is definitely author projection.

Warning: There’s no underage or dubious consent but that doesn’t make Larissa’s actions entirely innocent (especially in later chapters *assuming I follow through with those*)

“I’m in love with you.” Larissa startled from where she was sitting at her vanity removing her make up. She turned to see Wednesday standing in her bedroom. “Wednesday, what on Earth?” “I’m in love with you,” she reiterated. Larissa gaped at her; still not fully processing what was happening. Wednesday allowed the silence to lengthen, seemingly perfectly at home within it. Finally, Larissa’s mind provided her with, “There were at least two locked doors between where you were and where you are now.” “And they are locked once again.” A further pause to gather her thoughts… “Wednesday, do you think it’s appropriate to come into my quarters at 11 pm without so much as knocking?” “No.” “Okay…then why did you do that?” “I’ve been lying awake, analyzing the problem that’s causing my nightmares, and the feeling of uncertainty I’ve had when in your presence of late, and I’ve discovered that the reason I continue to dwell on the sight of you lying injured on the floor is because I’m distressed by it. That was uncharacteristic of me, and I’ve only just realized that it’s because I love you. I was not especially pleased to discover that information. I’ve sworn repeatedly not to follow in my parents’ footsteps and allow that sort of emotion to inform my behavior, but I appear to be unable to resolve the issue. Now that I’m fully aware of it, I felt compelled to inform you.” More silence. Larissa was struggling. Wednesday had just confessed her love for her and she had done so in the most typically deadpan manner Larissa had come to expect of her. But she was more than a little shocked by the revelation. Most of the time, she couldn’t be certain that Wednesday was even tolerating her in a platonic way, so to hear that she was in love with her was really throwing her for a loop. “…Wednesday, I’m the same age as your mother; as both of your parents.” “Yes, but importantly, you are not my parent.” “But I am your principal, and you are a student in my care.” “Yes.” “So…do you expect me to act in some way on the information you’ve provided?” “No.” “I see.” “So, may I ask why you’ve broken into my quarters at 11 pm?” “I drew a conclusion that had eluded me for a few weeks and felt the need to include you. I also wanted to give you this.” Wednesday removed a Tiffany’s jewelry case from behind her back, and opened it to reveal a large tear shaped ruby set in diamonds that formed a star like pattern around it. It appeared to be on a platinum necklace. “Wednesday, what is that?” “Your necklace.” “Where did you get that?” “It belonged to my grandmother. It, now, belongs to you.” “Wednesday, I cannot take that.” “It belongs to you. I will not take it back.” “Wednesday, someday you will have someone who is able to reciprocate your feelings. They will cherish that necklace, but I cannot accept it.” “There will not be another. I hadn’t intended for there to be a first, but regardless, I love you, and that means this necklace belongs to you.” She closed the box, placed it on the dresser next to her, and turned to leave.” “Wednesday, when did you begin having nightmares?” “A day or so after Laurel attempted to murder you.” “That was weeks ago. Wednesday, I think you may be experiencing PTSD. I think you should speak to someone about ways to try and process your trauma.” “I’m concerned that you may not be thinking clearly, and I can’t help but feel guilty. Maylors are losing their shit over Matty talking to fans in group chats because they think it will get him canceled again. Someone literally told my friend to take their post down because it was “setting him up”.

I think him hooking up with girls in their early 20s is a problem, but I don’t think him jumping into a group chat to say hi and joke around for a second is. If it gets sexual then yes that’s a major issue and he needs to leave immediately, but if everyone is being appropriate, how is this any different than responding to a DM or tweet?

I hate being mean but maylors are freaks at this point. They’re literally in his replies and quotes tagging him in shit about her (I wonder if that’s why he deleted the ASAP Rocky/Rihanna tweet). Such an odd boundary to push. I’ve had to unfollow so many people I became friends with during May because they won’t move on.

Back in may, some swifties were attacking me for the way that I talk about Matty and I tried to explain to them that fandom dynamics are different from one fandom to another. Just cuz taylor doesn’t still hang out online snd shitpost or whatever, doesn’t mean it’s weird if another artist does it. This has been Matty all along. He’s always done this. It’s nothing new. And like you said if he were being inappropriate or whatever, then yeah it’s a problem. But just shit talking or like chatting with fans and/or replying to comments he’s gotten or a frequently asked question about stuff he’s said or done, that’s always been a thing with him and it’s part of his dynamic with fans. I had previously gotten the impression that covalent chlorine and fluorine (as opposed to ionic) were generally very bad for biology, tending to be very toxic. (From various indirect sources. The only one I can name for sure was the novel Zodiac (1988), which is fiction but from an author who usually does his research very thoroughly.)

But you said in your recent Teflon post that carbon-fluorine bonds are very nonreactive and safe. So was that impression completely wrong, or is it just other forms of covalent halogens that are dangerous, or what?

Starting with a little FYI, I received a couple of asks as a result of the Teflon post. I definitely won’t answer all of them 1.) because I want to limit myself to confident answers about things that are either my specific field of expertise (which is mostly metals) or things I 100% learned in my coursework and 2.) I’m mostly here to shitpost about anime and I’d rather talk less about my day job. With that out of the way…

Halogens! Everyone’s favorite column on the periodic table including Flourine, Chlorine, Bromine, and Iodine. Your assumptions here are mostly correct, halogen containing organic molecules are often very bad for your body. This is because of the fact that halogen salts are very stable and so C–Cl, C–Br, and C–I have a tendency to break, react with things and generally muck around in the very wet insides of our cells. In particular they often react with DNA which is why they’re carcinogenic. This is also why the corresponding salts won’t hurt us, they’ve already hit their most stable point. This reactivity is also part of the reason they’re very useful industrially. It’s extremely important that manufacturers dispose of such waste appropriately because on top of its biological danger they also tend to be potent greenhouse gasses for unrelated reasons.

Fluorine, however is a little different. C–F bonds very rarely break, especially aliphatic C–F bonds like you find in teflon. The reason SOME Florine compounds are toxic is actually the exact opposite of the other halogens. The enzymes that make our bodies function are extremely specialized, and often their job looks like this: grab a molecule, rip off a C–H bond, replace that bond with something else, let go of molecule, repeat. What can happen is that your body will grab a molecule without being able to distinguish between hydrogen and fluorine, try to break that bond, then get stuck when it can’t. The enzyme then has a hard time letting go of the fluorinated molecule and is essentially disabled. Because enzymes are so specific in what they grab onto you often see this mechanism used in pharmaceuticals because the fluorinated medicine will disable for example, specific enzymes in bacteria, without getting picked up by any of the enzymes in your body. This is why Teflon is safe, literally no where for an enzyme to grab hold and get messed up. PFAS’s are a little more complicated because they also have an acid group at the end but for the most part they aren’t something your cells are looking to grab onto and try to digest.

Also, bucking the trend again, you don’t want to fuck with fluorine ions that much. We’ve all seen Breaking Bad (I actually haven’t, lmao), HF, hydrofluoric acid, will literally eat your bones. If you get HF on your skin there’s a special cream you have to apply as soon as possible and repeatedly for weeks after, because that HF will just keep trying to get to your bones even after you’ve washed it off the surface. Fortunately, no one in their right mind works with it and you are very unlikely to encounter it unless Mr. White tells you it’s time to cook.
