It’s a rollercoaster kind of rush, and I never knew I could feel that much- and that’s the way I loved you.

When people don’t get that the big deal about shirbert’s dance scene is about experiencing sexual attraction for the first time, and not about falling in love specifically, it low key makes me want to scream because it makes the whole situation much more clear, and because the show literally spells it out for the audience:
1. By making reproduction the main theme of the episode 2. And when Gilbert and Bash are talking in the kitchen, afterwards Like, yes, it’s still very romantic, and it’s still a stone of the path towards falling in love, but that’s not what they’re realizing and why they’re so confused and freaked out after it happens: it’s because they have never had such a visceral, and physical reaction toward anyone before. At first they’re just having fun like good friends do, and then sbam, it hits them all of a sudden and they don’t know how to reconcile that with what little they know about romantic love. Bash specifically says to Gilbert “Attraction is important, but love is what truly matters; and love is more than...those feelings, you’re talking about.” And at that Gilbert feels reassured, though he’s still kind of confused, because in his mind that means that feeling that kind of attraction for Anne doesn’t necessarily mean that he loves her (and that he doesn’t love Winnie), which is true, except that he still hasn’t figured out that in his case the strong attraction he feels is actually generated by the love he has for Anne. It’s not as simple as it seems; I think it’s a very important distinction (the one between love and sexual attraction) to make, that it was very well done on the show, and I’m glad they explored that and pointed out the difference and how confusing it can be.

☕️ Taylor swift song for juke and shirbert
From the top of my head...
Juke: "gold rush" from evermore, since it narrates a head over heels, overwhelming infatuation for a person, but with a melancholic edge; "it could never be", "I almost jump in" and so on. Wanting a person so badly, but it simply doesn't (or shouldn't) work out.
Shirbert: "Untouchable" from Fearless. This song of pure love and yearning perfectly describes them in season 3. Them losing their breaths when they're near each other, being in awe by each other, lingering looks that are caught and then not looking away — and still, not daring to take the plunge just yet. It's phenomenal.

I am absolutely in love with your blog! Books, klaroline, taylor swift and so much more that you post! I wish I had a friend like you in real life! I am curious though what is your favorite TS album? And song? Do you have a ranking?? Do you associate any song with your favorite book? I am always associating songs with favorite characters and make scenarios about klaroline in my head (embarrassing I know!)
Dawww, you are so sweet! I’m really touched by that, thank you. 🥰 I’m glad you like it here and that I haven’t scared you away with my spam posts or my tag nonsense yet (because there’s a lot of both haha). I think it would be awesome to be friends with someone like you irl. Since we seem to enjoy so many of the same things, we’d probably never run out of things to talk about. It’s a shame so many cool people live far away, isn’t it? We can be virtual besties, for sure, though! I always have room in my life another lovely person. ❤️
Oh gosh, it’s so SO hard for me to pick a favorite TS album. I’ve been a Swiftie since the beginning. I’m the same age as Taylor - both of us are born in 89 - so I almost feel like I grew up alongside her and her music. A lot of what she was writing about feeling in her songs I was experiencing myself at the exact same time so whenever I hear certain ones, like You Belong With Me, for instance, I can close my eyes and drift back to that particular time in my life. It’s like I’m there again. But then there’s also this sense of wistfulness, too, you know? Because I’ve grown into myself more and changed a lot along the way but I still remember how it felt to be my younger self. To feel the potency of everything - heartbreak, disappointment, infatuation, butterflies - so acutely. I love her music for being to do that, you know? Push me forward while also reeling me back.
On the whole, though, if I had to pick, I think I’d say Folklore and Evermore are my favorites. I’m a lyricist at heart and I just loved seeing how much her writing and poetry blossomed in those albums. Her story telling was just exceptional, it was on another level. And lately, like everyone else on the planet, I’ve been re-obsessed with Red. The initial release of that album in 2012 helped me get over a terrible heartbreak, my first love, so obviously that one holds a special place for me. That whole album is like a goddamn open wound. Still. After all these years. I REMEMBER IT ALL TOO WELL MYSELF. 😄😭
I don’t have a ranking for her discography overall, though. Not a favorite song, either. I’m very much a mood listener so I tend to gravitate toward certain songs or albums depending on where I’m at emotionally. Or, you know, if I’m writing and need/want to get into a particular headspace. I also jam to her faster-paced stuff at the gym while I do cardio a lot. I love running to The Man, I Forgot You Existed, You Need to Calm Down, I Did Something Bad, Blank Space, etc. And when I’m feeling nostalgic and want to reeeeally sink into it I will listen to songs from Fearless and Speak Now that remind me of VERY particular people from my past. Sometimes to remember, other times to torture myself lol. I will also love Teardrops on my Guitar and Tim McGraw into perpetuity. There’s such an innocence to those songs, it reminds me of my own as a teenager.
Oh honey, take heart. Associating songs with favorite characters, ships, or books is a favorite pastime of mine as well and I am constantly composing little stories for them in my head. So fear not, you are not alone! I definitely have a treasure trove of TS songs I associate with Klaroline, too. And Literati from Gilmore Girls. And Pacey and Joey from Dawson’s Creek. And Jaime and Brienne from GoT. And Jisbon from the Mentalist. And Shirbert from Anne of Green Gables. And Darcy and Elizabeth from P&P. And so on and so forth. (You see the problem here. 😆)
How about you? Do you have a favorite song or ranking of her albums? I’m super curious! :)

Hello dear one 💕 what tswift songs do you think match Shirbert? -SS
Um this is the best question you could ever ask me???!!!? Buckle up.
Fearless: this has always been one of my fav songs and it reminds me of the dance scene :’)) cause at first it’s all awkward and weird, but then they look at each other and it’s just right and effortless.
“I don’t know why but with you I’d dance in a storm in my best dress fearless.”
Back to December: as we all know, when Gilbert lays his heart bare for Anne in the books, she rejects him. This song makes me think of the regret Anne feels when they are estranged from each other afterwards, and how she thinks he hates her.
“I’d go back in time and change it but I can’t. So if the chain is on your door, I understand.”
State of Grace: Anne thinks she will never find true love! But then, surprisingly, comes Gilbert.
”I never saw you coming, and I’ll never be the same.”
“Love is a ruthless game unless you play it good and right.”
I Almost Do: A lot like Back to December, Anne misses him and just wants to be with him again but she feels like she can’t bc of Christine.
“And I wish I could run to you and I hope you know that every time I don’t I almost do.”
“In my dreams you’re touching my face and asking me if I wanna try again with you.”
Everything Has Changed: in awae when Anne realizes she has feelings for Gilbert after they dance, but she doesn’t know how to deal with those feelings or what they mean. Dats this song.
“All I’ve seen since eighteen hours ago is green eyes, and freckles, and your smile in the back of my mind making me feel like I just wanna know you better.”
“And your eyes look like coming home/ All I know is a simple name / Everything has changed.”
Lover: DUH. But the vows specifically in this song remind me of Anne, and how she made her own wedding vows.
“Swear to be overdramatic and true to my lover.”
Paper Rings: Anne doesn’t want diamond sunbursts or marble halls! She just wants him!!
“I like shiny things but I’d marry you with paper rings.”
“And I hate accidents except when we went from friends to this.”
Daylight: Anne letting go of her childish fantasies and unrealistic romantic ideals.
“I once believed love would be burning red, but it’s golden like daylight.”
I went a little rogue with this LMAO OH WELL! 🤷🏻‍♀️💕 also ur the best ss ever ilysm!! Thanks for the fun question!

On Ao3
Shirbert + Gang at the beach
Anne turned her face toward the sun. She knew she should hide in the shade if she wanted to avoid adding freckles to her complexion, but she had missed the warm summer sun during winter and wished to savour this moment. A gentle breeze blew through her unbraided hair and she heard shrieks and giggles as Diana, Ruby, Charlie, and Moody played at the edge of the sea. She could hear the sounds of water being splashed and Ruby’s voice complaining that they were going to get her new summer dress wet and Charlie’s laughter. She frowned slightly, she couldn’t hear Gilbert. Usually Ruby would be attached to him on an outing like this, away from school and chaperones, but his voice wasn’t mingled with her friends. She opened her eyes and squinted at the sea edge. Just as she expected her school mates were splashing and giggling, teasing and playing, but no Gilbert. She stood and called to Diana.
“I’m going to walk this way and see if I can find any treasures!” Diana smiled and waved her onward.
Anne began to walk. She’d been the first to kick of her shoes and stockings (much to the shock of Ruby and Charlie) but Diana and Moody were used to her unconventional ways and Gilbert had begun to tug his footwear off too. Anne enjoyed the feeling of the sand between her toes. She walked until she had rounded a curve of the beach and her friends were out of sight and hearing, but she still could not see Gilbert on the shore. After a moment of examining the sand as she walked looking for shells, or crabs, or feathers from gulls, she came across a shirt. A boys shirt.
She stopped and picked it up. It was Gilbert’s, his name neatly sewn in the collar by Mary’s hand. She looked around and could not see him on the beach, but saw an odd movement out of the corner of her eye. It was not the roll and pull of the waves, but a bobbing, a stillness that seemed almost unnatural. It was Gilbert, waist deep in the water, his face turned away from the shore, his hands skimming the water’s surface, his chest and back bare to the sun. Anne quickly looked away.  But she must have made a noise because Gilbert turned and saw her.
“Anne!” He called, seemingly unashamed of being caught without a shirt. “Come in! That water’s wonderful!” She turned back and saw him smiling and waving at her. It took her this long to realise that his trousers were abandoned further down the beach, and she realised he must be swimming in his underthings. She blushed and was glad Gilbert couldn’t make it out.
“I don’t have any bathing things!” She called back. Gilbert shook his head and waved her to the sea.
“Come on Anne! I thought you were fearless!”
She glanced up the beach. They were well out of sight of the others, and if her and Gilbert’s shouting hadn’t called them, they couldn’t hear. She looked at the water, sparkling blue, temptingly cool in the sun, and a boy calling her. A boy who’d teased her and tested her, who made her pulse quicken and her intellect fire.
“Turn around!” She called and Gilbert turned, laughing.
Anne quickly, stripped off her dress and petticoats until she too was in her under things and quickly waded into the water. She stayed a small distance away from Gilbert and refused to meet his eyes. But the water was lovely. It was cool and soothing as it lapped against her. Anne sighed before taking a breath and plunging into the water. She hovered under the gentle waves for a moment, enjoying the water, the pulsing of the ocean around her, for she surfaced. She felt hands on her shoulder and was turned around to face Gilbert. His eyes scanned her face, his mouth turned in concern.
“Are you okay? I didn’t think we were out too deep here.” He began to guide her closer to the shore but she resisted.
“I’m fine Gilbert. I like swimming.” She smiled and waded further out, never letting the water get too deep. It was true that she liked swimming, she just wasn’t a very confident swimmer. But she wasn’t going to admit that to Gilbert Blythe. She looked over her shoulder and saw Gilbert staring at her. He did that a lot these days. Diana said it was because he liked her, but Anne would always vehemently deny this. She would claim that he was searching for faults in her appearance, of which there were plenty, or weakness in her intelligence, of which there were few, but he did not like her. Although now, she wasn’t sure. It was not distaste or dislike she saw in Gilbert’s eyes, but wonder. Pure wonder. He seemed as if he was looking at a nymph, a mermaid, a being not meant for mortal eyes that he had stumbled upon. He looked awestruck and amazed. And he was looking at her.
“Come on Gilbert!” She called reaching a hand back toward him “The water’s wonderful!” He moved forward, ducking his head under the water and emerged beside her, he ficked his head to get his hair out of his eyes and water sprayed on Anne.
“Gilbert!” she yelled, staring at him in open mouth shock.
“Sorry Ann-” Gilbert went down under the water Anne splashed at him. He rose and looked at her with an eyebrow raised . “Oh, come on Anne! You know what I did was an accident-” And he was submerged by another wave of water that Anne had sent at him. He heard her laughter as he surfaced.
“It’s war then!” He called, splashing her back. She shrieked with laughter and began to wade away from him, splashing him at the same time. Eventually she stumbled through the water and was submerged, but before she could right herself, and she could have done so completely independently, she felt an arm around her waist and she was pulled to the surface. Her hands came to rest on sun warmed, and water dotted skin as she blinked sea water from her eyes. She looked up and saw Gilbert smiling at her, his arm still around her waist, her hands resting on his chest. His fingers seemed to burn a hole through the thin fabric covering her waist. She opened her mouth slightly as if to say something, something clever and witty, and a little bit teasing but no words came. She saw Gilbert’s gaze dart from her eyes down to her lips and back again, and she had a strange notion that he wanted to kiss her. A blush rose to her cheeks but she couldn’t stop an image of herself wrapped in a tight embrace with Gilbert, his hands around her waist, one sliding up her back to pull her closer to him, her fingers tangling in his dark hair, pulling him closer to her. Anne stepped away and the spell was broken. Gilbert cleared his throat as if to say something, but didn’t.
Slowly Anne turned toward the horizon and saw Gilbert mirror her out of the corner of her eye.
She skimmed her hands across the surface and Gilbert’s fingers brushed her accidentally but she didn’t pull away from him. She shifted and ran her hands over the water again until her fingers tangled with Gilbert’s. Neither pulled away. They stood with finger twined, facing the horizon and enjoying the summer.
Please feel free to send my prompts and I will try to fill them. I apologise for any and all mistakes.

Honestly Moira really starved us only to feed us a whole feast hu?
I got clowned is so many times over the last few weeks and my hopes got crush so bad that my expectations were actually low for this one?? Like, I was hyped for them to dance, but I half thought it would be a quick moment, and that shirbert would get no more than that one look from the promo
And then to have the WHOLE dance scene. And everything else was so good too.
I was NOT PREPARED
