Tumblr media
You didn’t often have a chance to have a beach day. Which was ironic, being a pirate and all. But it was true nonetheless. Law preferred to keep the Polar Tang submerged most of the time, so you’d spent most days underneath the ocean waters, not ever stopping long enough to go explore the beaches and have fun.
However, this time was different. The island you’d be docking at was known for having some of the most amazing beaches. From restaurants that had locally famous food, to the small beach getaway areas for those who wanted it, to the party atmosphere of the main beach. The crew was basically on their knees begging Law to stop for at least a day. He eventually agreed, probably to just shut them up though. So now everybody was getting ready for a beach day.
Admittedly, you hadn’t worn a bikini in a few years. Probably not since you’d started sailing with Law. So you’d bought a brand new one just for today.
Except you hadn’t tried it on until it was time to go.
It was… very revealing, left nothing to hide, to say the least. Your breasts were nearly spilling out of the top. You’d have to get Law to triple knot the ties so it wouldn’t fall off.
The bottoms were a little better. It covered a good amount of your ass, at least the most important parts. But then the front was low cut, leaving your hips and curves that led to your thighs all on display.
Law was in the bedroom, waiting for you to emerge from the bathroom so you could leave.
“Law?” You called, “I need some help.”
The halfway open door to the bathroom was pushed fully opened as he entered the room, and before he could even ask what it was, his eyes went wide at the sight of you.
“Umm… I need help tying it,” you asked, bashfully.
“Fuck, y/n. Nearly killed me.” He cursed as he began tying the strings for you.
“Huh?”
“Your body, y/n-ya. That damn bikini,” he stammered, trying to explain himself.
You’d honestly never caught him off guard like that, with an outfit at least.
“Well, I think I’m gonna wear a cover up anyway. I don’t need the boys acting up.”
While Law was disappointed that your extremely hot figure would be semi-hidden, he agreed with you. Two certain crew members never failed to hide their perverted stares or act like complete idiots trying to impress whatever poor woman it was they found attractive.
When he finished tying the knots, Law turned to the closet and pulled out his black button up shirt. “You can use this,” he said, handing the shirt to you.
You nodded and put your arms through it, taking the two ends of the shirt and tying it just underneath your breasts. While there was still a ton of cleavage showing, you still felt better about it.
The day had gone smoothly, so far. The crew had goneinsane at the beach, all of them rushing to the water to swim and nearly drown each other.
On the other hand, Law (and you) stayed back, sitting on some towels you’d laid out over the sand.
There were two reasons Law had decided to stay back. One, he would obviously drown if he went into the ocean water, being a devil fruit user. Second… it was becoming incredibly hard to hide his erection that you’d caused with that damn bikini.
When the sun had started going down and most of the crew wandered off to a bar on the beach, Law decided he needed to do something about it, because at this point, it was incredibly painful.
“I’d thought we’d go to one of those private spots. So you can actually wear the bikini, you know?” He suggested, trying to cover up his real motives.
You smiled, knowing that was definitely not the reason Law wanted to get away from everyone. Well, maybe it was partially true, since you knew he was itching to see you, uncovered, in it again.
So the two of you set off for one of the spots. Except, when you found them… they weren’t all that private.
They were closer to the jungle side of the island, so there were some trees which provided coverage. But it’s not like there was any enclosed space, and anybody could mistakenly walk into an occupied spot. At least the path went around the spot rather than through it.
Law laid the towels out again, sitting down with a groan.
“Poor baby, I didn’t think this bikini would have that much of an affect on you,” you giggled, sliding Law’s shirt off of yourself and planting yourself in his lap.
“D-don’t fucking talk to me like that. I’m not your poor baby,” Law protested, scowling at you.
“But you are, Law,” you said, taking his hat off of his head and brushing your hand through his hair. You giggled. “I’m only teasing, baby.”
He rolled his eyes, annoyed from his… situation. But, as you gently rubbed down on his hardened cock, he let out a hiss.
“I can take care of it, you know.”
“But here? These spots are a lot less private than I thought they’d be.” He noted.
“‘s okay, nobody will accidentally walk in,” you said. “With how loud you make me moan.”
You felt Law’s hand smacking down onto your ass in response to your comment, which in turn made you giggle again.
Deciding that he wasn’t going to protest it anymore, you decided to get things started. You reached around to untie the bikini top just enough that it was barely holding together, breasts threatening to spill out.
“You made me tie that four times so it wouldn’t come off only to do this. Do you want it to fall off?” Law questioned.
“Now? Yes. Earlier, no,” you answered.
Law sighed, moving one of hands away from your hips and onto your breast, cupping it through the thin fabric of the bikini. He could feel your hardened nipple through it.
“These barely even cover you, why’d you pick this out?”
“I didn’t know it would fit like this,” you admitted. “I just grabbed the first thing that caught my eye.”
“Well, now you’ve really caught my eye, and probably the whole crew’s” Law remarked.
You giggled before grinding your covered cunt down onto him again. “Now, can we get started? Actually?”
“Fine,” Law said.
You moved yourself back to pull his cock out of his shorts at an incredibly fast speed, and before Law knew it, you were stroking him with your hand, moving down so you could shove your tits around his aching cock.
Without even giving Law a moment to get ready, you began squeezing your breasts and moving up and down, kissing his tip every time you moved downward. His hands flew up to you, one hand bunching up your hair into his fist and the other grabbing at your shoulder and squeezing it. You let out a sweet giggle as Law’s head fell back, a moan emitting from his lips.
“Ah- shit, y/n,” he stuttered, “you’re that desperate for my cock?” It was his attempt at regaining control over you. But the way you batted your eyelashes up at him as the tip of him was sucked between your lips, drool slipping out of your mouth and down to your breasts where the rest of his cock was being squeezed, it had him struggling to do anything at all.
You continued your movements, wanting Law to cum on your breasts. You knew he was already close with the way he was struggling, and how you’d left him aching all day long.
His knee shot up as you took more into your mouth, sucking even harder, making it grinding straight into your clothed pussy. You let out a moan from the friction, but with your mouth already being full, it simply caused a wave of vibrations onto his cock, throwing Law over the edge.
He let out another moan, and you pulled your lips off him with a loud pop just as he began climaxing. You smiled and licked your lips as his cum dribbled out of his cock onto them before spilling the rest over your breasts.
You swiped up what landed on your mouth with your tongue, swallowing it.
Law was panting, slowly moving to sit back up, releasing his grip on you. The sight in front of him just made him feel more weak though.
You, on your knees, spread out over his lap with your bikini top barely hanging on, his cum spilled all over your breasts.
“You look like such a slut,” he spoke through heavy breaths. “I like it.”
You smirked. “Take a picture, it’ll last longer, baby.”
Law rolled his eyes, finally regaining his composure. He swiped his fingers over your breasts, gathering all the cum up and shoving it into your mouth.
“You better swallow it all, after what you did,” he said.
You gladly sucked all the hot seed off his fingers, moaning around them just to make him lose his mind that much more.
Now Law wanted to flip the situation. He pulled his fingers away, wiping your spit off onto his thigh. Before you could even make your next move, Law grabbed you, flipping you over onto your back against the towel.
“Agh! Law, what are you doing?”
“Be quiet, whore,” he spat. “I’m punishing you.”
“For what?!” You cried.
With incredible speed, his fingers shoved the bikini bottoms off of you and slid his fingers right inside of you. He smirked as he realized you’d been soaking wet this whole time.
“For your little act,” he told you. “Teasing me all day. Making the others stare at you. Then what you just did, trying to dominate me. Ain’t gonna happen, dear.”
You moaned and squirmed as his fingers fucked you at a relentless pace. “I- I’m sorry!” You cried out, “I won’t do it again, Law!”
“You’d better not.”
To add to your pleasure, Law’s thumb pressed down onto your clit, rubbing fast circles onto it.
“Mmh! Law, I’m- fuck! I’m gonna cum,” you whined.
“Really?” He challenged you, “what makes you think I’m going to allow that?”
“Wh-what?! No, please, Law! I’ll be good!”
“Sorry sweetheart,” he spoke, “you won’t get to cum until I say so.”
He then pulled his fingers out of you, and you cried, fist hitting the sand next to you in frustration. The feeling of reaching climax quickly left you, and Law simply smirked down at you, probably internally laughing at you.
But then he pushed his shorts back down, grabbing your hips and sliding you up so your ass was against his lap.
He grabbed his once again hardened cock, sliding it through your folds, coating himself in your juices. To tease you, he pressed himself into your red, swollen clit, causing you to jump, a moan falling from your lips.
“Promise you won’t try that shit again?” He asked, lining himself up with your hole.
“Yes, Law! I swear! I’ll be your good slut,” You pleaded.
With a light chuckle, Law inserted himself into you, thrusting deep and harshly. Already, he was being relentless. Refusing to give you even a second to adjust to the size of his cock.
“Law! I- I can’t take it!” You screamed, moaning and choking on tears.
“Yes you can,” he insisted, “you always have.”
“B-but you won’t let me adjust! I… I can’t do it! You’re too big, baby!”
Law groaned at your words, hands gripping the flesh of your hips tightly. “That’s too bad, then,” he continued thrusting, “you’ll just have to cry and take it.”
He slammed himself into you, pulling on you to meet with him. You were certain he was leaving bruises on your insides. You’d be aching for days.
You screamed his name, tears ruining the mascara you’d put on earlier. Unfortunately for you, Law liked that look on you. The black makeup smeared down your flushed cheeks as the tears kept flowing. You were officially all fucked out, unable to even moan his name.
“What, have I already ruined you?” Law laughed, “you can’t even say my name. How pathetic.”
Your mouth hung open, moans growing weak as he continued fucking you at the same relentless speed.
Then his right hand left your hips, finding it’s new place on your clit, rubbing the over sensitive bud. “Cum, you fucking whore,” he demanded.
The new sensation caused you to shake, crying out as you came on his cock. But Law didn’t stop there.
He kept going until he too was cumming, and at this point you could no longer comprehend anything. All you could feel was his hot cum filling you up, and then there was a weight on you.
Law had collapsed on top of you. Too tired to even pull himself out, he simply laid there breathing heavily onto your neck.
“Law?” You said, slowly waking up from the daze he’d put you in.
“What, y/n-ya?” He breathed out, goatee scratching your neck as he spoke.
You simply huffed, wrapping your arms around him.
“You okay, baby?” He asked, pulling his head back to look at you.
“Yeah,” you replied. “Just… tired.”
“Sorry,” he chuckled. “I’ll take care of you. Just gotta… get back to the sub first.”
You groaned, hating the idea of having to walk all the way back. “I don’t want to,” you whined. “Feels like you broke my back.”
“I’ll carry you,” he suggested.
After another moment, Law pulled out of your cunt and put his cock away. He gently slid the bottoms back onto you, then tying your top securely again, before finally sliding his black shirt through your arms, letting it sit open on you.
He sat you up, brushing your messy hair out of your face and kissing you. “You did good,” he praised. “Maybe I’ll reward you, now.”
“I just wanna sleep… maybe tomorrow,” you said.
“Okay,” he lifted you up into his arms, the beach towel wrapped around you.
Honestly, both of you had forgotten that this was still technically a public space. The crew was waiting at the spot on the beach you’d all initially been at. Penguin and Shachi were snickering and falling onto each other like the dumbasses they were.
“Did you have fun, Captain?”
Then they both burst out laughing, running away before Law could even do anything.
“You two will be on cleaning duty for a month if you keep that shit up!” He yelled as they made their escape, the rest of the crew silently following behind.

hiiii i hope you’ve been well!! i noticed you said you’ve been writing a bit of siren if it’s not too much to ask can we get a spoiler/snippet from it? i’ve been excited for it ever since i read the synopsis
the spoiler is that the fic is actually a huge prank i've pulled on you all, that i have no intention of actually writing. happy (early) april fools ! here, have a very cringey snippet that i intend to rewrite before officially posting the fic.
warning: this is unedited and likely includes typos/cringe writing from nearly a year ago!!
“do you think its a mermaid?”
the question is met with a slap to the back of the dark haired man’s head, who proceeds to yelp and stare back at his crewmate, confusion and offense swirling in his eyes when he meets the other’s stare.
“shh, you idiot!” the pirate speaks in a hushed tone, through gritted teeth and a serious expression, his eyes still busy looking at the lump of fabric and flesh and hair tangled in a net that lays just at the beach shore. “it could be a siren! we can’t risk waking it up! captain'll kill us if we die.”
the sun has already began to set, alerting them of just how much time has passed since they arrived on the impish island. deserted of any human lives, the spec of land provided them with nothing but natural resources and a perfect spot to dump their unwanted cargo. which, in this very moment, is a sailor they’d caught on board their ship, hiding among barrels in an attempt to attack the beautiful vessel come night fall. what a shame the poor man forgot to counter in just what crew lived aboard such a ship, the young yet already feared group made up of no more and no less than eight men, who have garnered a plethora of names: the ocean’s assassins, the hell bringers, the pirate kings.
many stories have been passed around about the ominous crew, among drunkards in sketchy taverns and the gossiping wives of sailors. some true, some false, yet all painting them in a less than friendly light. their beginning alone is a tale fearsome enough to send shivers down the spine of any well-respected navy commander.
other than the boy who’d betrayed his own father and taken capture of the navy ship, along side the rest of the seven men, little is truly known about the pirate crew. sure, their faces have been seen, their mouths have been kissed by drunken fools, rounds of ale have been brought to them in many a taverns, but never have their names been spoke, never have they shared laughter with a stranger nor spared an inch of mercy for anyone outside of their crew of eight disasters.
thus, no one knows of the true nature of the pirates. and, if there’s anything mankind hates most, it’s the inability to understand, to gain knowledge of something, which is why the group is such a point of contention, an enigma many challenge themselves to solve.
some even going as far to sneak on board their ship.
“wait, do you even get sirens this time of the year?” another slap lands on the back of the man’s head, a slap which he this time returns to his friend in the form of a flick to his ear. “stop hitting me or i’ll tell yeosang it was you who drank the last of the rum!”
“i wouldn’t have to hit you if you didn’t say stupid things.” unbeknownst to the two men, their bickering is attracting the attention of another set of eyes, who watches them from a distance where tree branches still scrape his skin and the sand is yet to fully appear beneath his feet. “do you get sirens this time of the year?! seriously, san? what kind of question is that!”
“the kind of question you’re too dumb to answer!”
“oh, real mature!”
“your mum sure thinks so!”
“what does that even mean?!”
“i don’t know!”
the volume of the two pirates bickering increases to a point where neither of the stealth sea-assassins pick up on the approaching footsteps nor the slow laughter which companies them, the eyes that were watching them now much closer and much more aware of what exactly had prompted the daily argument between the two.
it’s as the one who calls himself san curls his hand around the hilt of his sword that the onlooker decides to step in, knowing yeosang would not appreciate having to waste more thread on stitching up yet another unnecessary wound, just like the crew’s captain would not enjoy having to repeat the same old scoldings the pair received almost at a daily rate.
“you’re both idiots.” perhaps not the best way to make his presence known, but it works either way, prompting both san and wooyoung’s head to snap in his direction, eyes wide in accusation and mouths dropped open in audacity. “you know that, right?”
“fuck off and go back to doing tall people stuff, yunho.” of course it’s wooyoung who speaks first, always the most catty on board the ship and never one to bite back a comment or think before he speaks.
“how are we both idiots?” san, more level-headed even while being prone to arguing, asks with more curiosity than offense, hand lazily thumbing over the bumps and ridges of his intricate sword handle.
“because, you thought it was a mermaid,” yunho points in san’s direction, who proceeds to avoid eye contact, suddenly finding the look of his sand dusted boots to be the most intriguing thing in the world. the attention is quickly thrown to wooyoung as the tallest among the three point him out. “and you thought it was a siren. now, can you tell me what mermaids and sirens have in common?”
the pair keep quiet, san with red cheeks and wooyoung with a snarl, like he’s trying so hard to calculate his next snarky comment, all in the aim of shrugging off the shame of being called out on his own idiocy.
“a tail. they both have tails.” when it doesn’t click in either of the two’s heads, yunho sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose. brushing past them both, he nudges wooyoung’s shoulder as he cautiously approaches the lump of flesh and fabric, tangled in a web of nets and seaweed. “and that,” he points at the figure, entranced by the subtle yet visible rise and fall of the creature’s breathing. “very clearly has a pair of legs, not a tail.”

Hooks and Coins|| Harry Hook x Reader Soulmate AU!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Requested: by @lemonypink
Warnings: Harry being cute
Pairings: Harry Hook x Swann-Turner! Reader
Author's note: Oh my gosh this took so long! I’m literally so sorry! My motivation for writing has been a little iffy lately. Buuutt I’ve also been binging Criminal Minds soo it kinda gave me a creative push to start writing again. (Spencer Reid fics comin in the future) Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this fic as I get back into writing again.
P.S. Melody is Melody from the second little mermaid movie, and I know she's kinda not mentioned again in the fic but just know that this is y/n’s best friend and that’s who she is lmao.  I also thought the Coin would fit well in here because of the movies just sshhhh. Enjoy!!!!
----------------------------------------------
"it's soon! I swear!" The night of your 16th birthday, the day your life would change.
The day you get your soulmate tattoo.
"Are you sure??" Melody whines. "I'm positive! Look, it's not even 12:00 on the dot yet- ONE MORE MINUTE!" You look back from the phone on your lap to your right wrist.
"It's twellveeee." Melody cooed.
"Please please please..." You muttered still hopeful.
Then it hit, well stung. "Ow, ow, I feel it!"
"Let me see!" Melody basically climbed on top of you and saw it before you could. She gasped "oh my gosh y/n..." "What? What is it?" You tried to pull back your wrist to see, but Melody kept it steady.
"Y/n, as your best friend, I have to warn you as to what you're about to see...."
"C'mon Mells, it can be that bad." You sighed and tried to pull away from her.
"You have to PROMISE Me that you won't freak out?"
Annoyed, you sighed and smiled "I promise." "Okay.." she released your hand. You rubbed your wrist and looked at the small tattoo, "A Hook?" "Not just any hook... Penny told me about this." "This is the same hook as the famous Captain Hook himself! It must be his son!"
"Captain? So my soulmate is a Pirate? Like Dad and Mom?" Melody nods almost worried.
"Awesome."
--------------------------------------
"It's late Harry, your sister is gonna kill us if we get caught and wake your dad." Gill rubbed his eyes as he walked towards the galley of the ship.
"I know, but this is where the best lighting is...in a few minutes, I'll get me soulmate...well uh, tattoo I mean." He whispered and unlocked the door, cursing at the squeaky floors.
Harry turned on the lamp nestled on his father's desk. The room lit up illuminating the maps that his father and oldest sister had drawn up while sailing the open seas. He dreamed of nothing more than doing that, sailing and hailing a crew of his own, but for now, he follows Uma’s orders.
“One more minute Harry.” Gill whispered looking at the tickless clock on the desk.
“Aye, ow! fff-!” Harry cupped his hand and flipped it to see his wrist, he bit back the pain as he saw the black ink form on his wrist. He’d been confused and tried to make it out as it formed. “Bloody hell, this sure is detailed in’it?” Gill loomed over Harry's shoulder, wondering what it was himself, Gill was sure he wasn't ready for his soulmate yet if he had to endure this much pain.
Harry closed his eyes and exhaled as the pain stopped.
He opened his eyes to see the grim Aztec Coin staring back at him.
“Holy shi-” “Gil do you know what this means?!” “She’s spooky?” “No GIl, you git, She’s a pirate! and she’s a Turner...” He says in awe as he smiles down at his wrist.
----------------------------------------------
A few months later both of you seemed to forget. The events of your daily lives getting in the way. You’re training to go off on a sailing trip with your dad for a few months, and Harry is… currently Helping Uma get revenge on Mal by kidnapping Ben.
But.. you were unaware of this. Obviously.
Lonnie and you were fencing/sword fighting in the school’s courtyard (for fun) when you saw the boys rushing into the limo. You both caught up to them and questioned them immediately.
“What’s going on here Jay?” Lonnie snickered full well knowing what’s happening because she overheard it earlier passing their room. “We.. uh..” “we’re going with you..” Lonnie cut the pair off. And this is how you went to the Isle of the Lost for the first time.
They had told you the plan but left out the part about who they were going to have to deal with if the plan went south. You were nowhere near nervous. All those times you’d trained with Lonnie and your parents at the shop basically were all for this moment. Your pirate self was ready.
Mal handed over the wand and you cringed a bit. “She’s gonna know it's fake…” you turned to Lonnie and whispered. “Shh I know, get ready..”  you prepped your sword and placed one hand on your lapel while the other was free to toss the swords.
That’s when everything went south. You and Lonnie sprung into action and helped the others. The sounds of metal clashing mixed with the creaking of the ship and the salty sea air made you happy, it filled you with adrenaline. It felt like you were at home.
2 people fighting you at once, then three, then none, one by one you tossed them overboard.
You were caught in the crossfire between Carlos and some other goons so you ducked under them and sprung onto your feet right into someone else's back.
You both turned to each other, swords ready, you saw him and you felt that burning in your body. The one that your friends always said happened when you met your soulmate… “Ow!” “Oi!!” Harry lurched back and held his hand. And so did you.
“You…” he pointed at you “are you…?” you held up your hand and showed your tattoo. He gasped and smiled “I knew I’d see you one day..”  you said in awe. You heard Uma yell for Harry and his smile faltered into a smirk.
“Sorry lass, no ‘ard feelings right?” “Obviously.” You struck your sword first and your swords clashed with each other. “I knew you were good Turner, but not this good.” he laughed as you both turned a corner of the ship. “Thanks! Maybe I can teach you sometime Hook, You seem a bit rusty!” “Oi! My ‘eart Lass.. that one hurt!”
You snickered and he had caught you by a wood post “awe, our first dance is over now?” your eyes sparkled. He smirked ”Aye if this were different, i’d very much like to get to know you lassy…”  he got closer almost closing the gap in between you two. And his lips brushed yours before you heard Mal and Lonnie yell that it’s time to go. You smiled “sorry Luv, it’s time for me to go!” you kiss his cheek and push him away into a hole that’s in the ship. “Oi! That’s not fair!”
You were the last one to leave and thought of an idea, you caught up with them and helped Mal to kick off the ramp back to the car. “Find me!” You blew a kiss to Harry and smiled, and so did he. on the inside, of course, he had to be “mad” for Uma’s sake. But right now he was anything but. He just met his Soulmate and she was everything he dreamed of.
-------------------------------------
Almost a year had passed when you had first met Harry. And you constantly think about him every day and so does he.
He sat at the bow of the ship looking out to the ocean thinking about you. It’s all that he’s been thinking about actually. He’s waiting for the day you can be with each other and in each other's arms. You literally took his breath away, because you kicked him, but he was entranced by your skills and beauty. He dreams about learning with you, meeting your folks, owning a ship, and most importantly.. Sailing away with you to see the world. He was stuck here.
Though he didn't know that you had convinced Ben (it took a lot of convincing) to let Harry over onto the isle for a while. Your boating trip with your dad had gone so well that you also convinced your dad to let you go alone this time. Your parents knew how a forbidden love felt more than anyone else. The love between the two of them, a humble blacksmith that was the son of a pirate and the daughter of a wealthy governor who found that boy so long ago. They were never supposed to be together in society's standards, but their love was the strongest bond. They granted their blessing to you, they knew you'd be safe. You’re a strong pirate and they want to see you the happiest you can be.
You smiled and looked out the window of the limo as it crossed the bridge. Mal and Evie both came with you so they could help you find him and tell him the news. You guys slip onto the docks while Mal and Evie keep guard on the limo and watch you just in case you need back up. “Ursulas…” you smile and cross through the swinging doors, you found him and you felt the burning feeling in your body again. So did he. “OI!” he dropped the basket of chips he was holding and growled at the mess he made. He was fuming until he locked eyes with you. “My princess has come back to me?” he smiled and walked towards you completely forgetting about the fries as he kicked them to the side. “Hey Hook.” you smiled and felt his hand on your face but he backed away. “Woah Turner you ain't gonna kick me ‘gain right?” “no.” you laughed and you both hugged each other.
He took the two of you outside “what are ye doin here luv? I mean, you don’ ‘ave to make any excuses to see me, but you came all the way from the other side.” he laughed and pushed back a strand of stray hair behind your ear. You blushed and held one of his hands, but unknowingly played with one of the rings on said hand. He bit his lip smiling at your nervousness. “U-Uhm.” you were surprised by the nerves in your voice, you were never this nervous before. This boy is going to wreck you. “It took major convincing, but I finally convinced my family and Ben to let you come to Auradon with me for a three-month sailing trip…” you smiled and looked at him. His eyes lit up and he lifted you off the ground and spun you around. “Are ye serious?! Of course I'd go with you!”  “Great! We leave…” you check your watch on your left arm. “ In 30 minutes!” “Aye! I need to pack!”  you laughed.
he backed you into the wall. You smirked, “oi, I've been trying to do this ever since the first time we met.” He closed the gap between you two and the feeling of his soft pillowy lips on yours brought you comfort and warmness. You kissed back and ran your fingers through his dark locks as he tightened his grip around your waist. You never wanted this to end. “25 minutes!” You heard the girls yell and you pulled away and laughed. “I've finally found my Turner..” “And I’ve finally found my Hook..”

No longer the Seth Rogen to my James Franco.
Obi-wan x senator!reader.
Tumblr media
Summary: Imagine having to deny your feelings for the Jedi master and him denying his too, until another person tries to court you. Kenobi fears it is too late for him.
Warnings: Angst, fluff. Oh, sorry low-key some Bi aspects, only brief.
Requested by anon and @ahsokatanolovebot
A/n: Queen of Galadriel, Is made up, based on Gaga , and low-key Cate blanchett. Galadriel is not in Star Wars but, yeah.
Word count:1.7k
Knowing Obi-wan for most of your life made living out life difficult. Him being a Jedi and you being a senator; you didn't see him too often.  However, since the Jedi council was so involved with politics it was not impossible or unlucky.  Especially multiple times he had been assigned to watch over you or protect you from threats.
Knowing Kenobi for so long was inevitably going to lead to feelings. When did he not flirt? He'd flirt with anyone , if a glass of water was conscious he'd flirt with it. It was like he was programmed like it, maybe he was just horny from being a Jedi... They say no attachments but that doesn't mean no hookups? Doesn't matter Obi-wan never did that not that he had mentioned. You were sure he'd tell you, yeah you weren't around each other often did not mean you weren't close.
It didn't matter how hard you tried to escape your feelings, nothing worked, you couldn't exactly tell Obi-wan to bugger off. You'd be dead, he had many times saved your life,. As well as he did not deserve you pushing him away when he was nothing but a sweetheart.
Nothing between the two of you could ever happen, you knew him too well. He'd never give up being a Jedi...for you. You'd have to except that, no matter how much you loved him.
Though, there times , sorry pretty much all the time, when you felt like it wasn't just you, there was something between you two. Whether that was him just being flirty or just a really good friendship. No, no. , could not be love no way.
'We could be loversss."
"What d'you say?"
"We could be lovers, y/n."
"Stop it , Ben. Don't do this to me. What do you want me to say, you will be king?"
His lips inches from yours, his breath against your cheek. "And you, you will be queen."
"You're lying, I better not stay."
It was like he'd only want to flirt with you like he was the forbidden fruit.  You didn't know, how you'd hurt Obi-wan too. Other times, it would be you flirting him with him or both of you flirting back and forth. Depending on situations/moods.
"Obi-wan shh, my advisor is coming."  Your bodies pressed each  other in the small closet in your office,  The closet so small, Obi-wans face was pressed against the B crook of your neck as  he tried not to laugh. Your arms throw around his neck.  His lips tickling the nerves in the tissue of your neck, you had meant to twitch.
Oh, he already knew you were ticklish, you had just refreshed his memory, a smirk upon his face as his finger tips travelled up your body slowly.
"B-Ben!"
To say the least your advisor soon left the room, to give you privacy, she just didn't know Obi-wan. Take you in an office? He could never , it would have to be a pirate ship or something, if he ever did or if you ever wanted to do that task. However, tickling you in your office absolutely.
After years of not knowing his true feelings, you tried to get back into work again. Well, until you met someone new. She was this lady that was well respected in her home world, that had travelled to Corellia where you were senator.  In fact she wasn't just well respected but she was the Queen.  She had travelled far to meet you, claiming she admired your work.
To say the least when you met her you stunned, this woman was stunning. She looked exactly like Lady gaga, which the hair she had none, yet a crown rested against her head. She radiated dominance. Instead of dresses and jewels  as you might expect for a Queen. Her body was laced with armour , her glove though was covered with diamonds and at the end of her pointer finger there was a knife type thing.
She was a very beautiful woman, you were shocked at her behaviour at dinner, she was flirting with you. More than Obi-wan.
"Now Senator y/l/n, I must know is there anyone in your life at the moment?" The simple strokes of her fingers on the table cloth, leaning back causally waiting for your response.
"Oh, uhm, no one and please just y/n." A nod of her head, as she watched you become a little nervous.
"Very well, but you seem unsure."
"I was there was someone, they cannot be with me even if they did want to, it's against their culture."
"Oh, that's very unfortunate for such a beautiful woman." You had turned from your food to look behind you before turning back to the woman.
" Oh-I, sorry , I thought you were looking in the mirror."
After that there were a few more dinners, each more she was more forward to flirt. By the last one you knew she was not just doing it for no reason she had an intention. From then on you'd receive flowers, food, clothing, you name it. You knew she was offering a courtship, but you didn't know whether to accept.
Rowena was really a gorgeous woman and presented her feelings freely. It was just not the same, not like Obi-wan, he had never showed any sign that he would give up being a Jedi for you, at least Rowena actually liked you. You could not shake Obi-wan.
The last thing you expected was Obi-wan's appearance, when you were packing supplies for another planet on lockdown via the empire, alongside Rowena's help. Unlike most Queens Rowena was hands on , and cared deeply for all living things.
"Y/n?" You had thought the voice had been in your head, you felt like he would not bugger off lately, way he using Jedi minds tricks on you? So, you'd be in love with forever. The slight jab in the side from Rowena confirmed you weren't the only one who heard.
Turning around on the balls of your feet, face to face with Obi-wan, a tired Obi-wan. His body slightly hunched , bags under his eyes-don't fall for it.
"Obi-wan you're back." Rowena had turned to look at the man too, noticing your face, your tone , this was the man you spoke of. Her eyes catching Obi-wan his eyes scanning her briefly before looking back to you.
"Oh! Sorry, Obi-wan this is Rowena-The Queen of Galadriel, w-we ar-"
"Friends, unless you choose to accept, Y/n. Nice meeting you...Kenobi." With that she had left you with Obi-wan not before pressing a kiss to your cheek. You hadn't know what she had been planning, she knew you were hopelessly in love with Obi-wan even if she did habour feelings for you, she was going to help you.
"Accept what?" He had gotten closer, his heart was in his stomach, that was not friendly behaviour , he knew it, her longing stares on you, they way she said his name, gave him chills.
"Her courtship."
"O-oh, I am happy for you. I am just here for a week, to help." His eyes avoid yours, as he left, he wasn't happy. In fact, you had left heading to your room, your eyes heavy again, you were right he didn't like you.
Your pda with the Queen became more frequent, well it was just holding hands, laughing and the occasional hug. Every time Obi-was saw his heart felt like it was going to explode , he had never felt such jealousy, heartbreak, anger. He couldn't stand it no longer , he hadn't been there three days, you hadn't accepted the courtship let.
However, he feared it was too late. He couldn't stand it no longer, he was going to go back , see Anakin shove himself back into work. That did not happen simply because Asajj Ventress had turned up with a bunch of droids to prevent any supplies to be sent out.
That exact moment you had been walking with a smoothie in your hand. Jumping out of your skin, and thrown the smoothie all over Ventress. She did not appreciate that, so you were captured. Obi-wan had heard a commotion and that was it, he followed the sound of... talking...no fighting but with flirtatious remarks. Oh no! The disgrace.
He had decided he had enough and hid behind walls, droids, lampposts whatever he could. To say the least he had not expected to come across Rowena fight Ventress, wait was this an enemies to lovers , oh it is.. what was angry flirting quickly turning into them kissing, as Rowena gestured for Obi-wan to come out and help you.
Pulled to your feet, your restrains removed as all the droids were destroyed, Rowena had turned her head back to you, grinning. Her elbow locked with Ventress' it was clear she had forgotten or had lost interest in her mission, now in the company with a Queen leaving you with Obi-wan.
Your eyes meeting his, his hands still holding yours from helping you up, his eyes drowning, his face tired. Your skins touching warmth spreading through your body like blood, his callousness fingers gripping yours.
"I'm sorry, Y/n. I cannot watch you be with someone else; when I-I l-love you."
"I cannot be with someone else; I love you."
Okay, so you were almost Queen, Obi-wan was almost right about that, it wasn’t long after that moment the temple was destroyed and you and Obi-wan ended up in Tatooine, forever. Well, not forever...

Apoo x OC
Title: One In A Million Fluff
Apoo watched as Mia walked through the garden of flowers that separated his tribe from the Namakura tribe. Apoo was normally good at following certain rules, like not going anywhere near them. But the moment Apoo saw her, he knew he had fallen in love. He kept going back, each time getting a little closer to her without her noticing. He watched as Mia lay in the bed of flowers, her hair going in all different directions.
He hesitantly left his hiding spot and took a deep breath before walking over to her. Mia heard footsteps and sat up, facing the stranger in front of her. He looked away as she looked away as well. It didn't take her long to realize that he was from the Long Arm Tribe. When he sat next to her, she stayed still. It was silent for a few moments.
"I am Mia." The girl softly spoke, and Apoo looked at her, smiling, almost smirking.
"I am Apoo. It's nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you as well."
"Are you scared of me?"
"A little bit." She said honestly.
"Is it because I have long arms."
"No, because I barely know you." She said, and Apoo laughed softly.
"Apapapa, how about we get to know each other then?" Apoo offered, and Mia smiled at him as he looked at her.
"I like that idea a lot. As long as we keep our meeting a secret?"
"Of course, our tribes wouldn't like it if we saw each other and became friends." He said, and she nodded. They spent the rest of that day laughing, joking around and getting to know each other.
It became an everyday thing to see each other, and with each day that passed by, they became closer and slowly started to fall for one another. Apoo, 19 years old, and Mia, 18, met more frequently and stayed out longer with them, now becoming adults. Neither tribe questioned it because they were adults now. One day, Mia ran to the garden to meet her Long Arm friend, but she didn't see him when she got there.
"Did I beat him here? That's rare." She mumbled, scratching her neck. As she was about to sit down, she felt long arms wrap around her waist and a chest pressed against her back. She went to scream, but Apoo covered her mouth.
"Shh, it's just me." Mia calmed down, smiling, leaning into him.
"You scared me."
"Sorry didn't mean to."
"It's okay." They stayed in that position, neither one speaking. Mia sighed softly.
"It has been four years since we met. Today." Apoo broke the silence.
"You remembered."
"Of course, today was when I gained enough courage after two months of watching you. "
"Wait, you watched me that long?"
"You were...the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I didn't have the confidence to talk to you." Apoo admitted sheepishly, and Mia turned to face him, and he chuckled, smiling at her.
"And now?"
"I have more than enough confidence now." He smirked, pressing her against him. Her face flushed, and Apoo stroked her hair behind her ear.
"You are One in a million," Apoo said.
"I thought you were a million to one," Mia said, giggling softly. Apoo shook his head, but this time, he captured her lips. She blushed but wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing back. Apoo gently pushed her against the tree, trapping her in between him and the tree. Apoo moved his lips over hers before licking her bottom lip wanting entrance. Mia instantly granted him entrance, and they fought for dominance which Apoo instantly won. He swirled his tongue around her warm cavern, her taste was addicting, and he couldn't get enough. They pulled away once air became necessary, keeping their faces centimeters apart. Mia bit her lip before opening her mouth to speak after catching her breath.
"You do know this is forbidden, right?"
"Of course I do, but you see, here is the thing I intend on becoming a pirate. That being said. I don't follow the rules anymore."
"But."
"And Pirates steal treasure, meaning I am stealing you." Apoo finished, and Mia laughed softly, pecking his lips again.
"I love you, Apoo." She said.
"I love you too." He said before kissing her back; Mia ran her hands through his hair as his hands went underneath her shirt and rested on her lower back.
"You are my diamond in the rough," Apoo whispered, picking her up. Mia laughed as Apoo spun her around.
"Be my girlfriend."
"Of course, Apoo." Mia smiled brightly, and he lay in the grass, pulling her to his chest, and they just looked up at the sky, watching the clouds pass by. Apollo's heartbeat lured Mia into a slumber, and Apoo continued to rub her back as she slept, smiling warmly softly.
"My Angel," Apoo said, closing his eyes holding her tightly as if someone was going to take her away from him as he fell asleep.

pirate king (61) || atz
Tumblr media
"I just want to talk." Mingi grumbles under his breath as the three of you approach the starboard side of the ship, clearly not the least bit convinced by what Captain Kang has just said. "That's what they all say. 'Oh, I just want to talk! I totally don't want to put a bullet through your head… or poison you… or feed you worms…' Only an idiot would let him come up on board after all that he's done to us-"
"Would you call me an idiot, then?" Hongjoong smiles mildly from behind him and Mingi nearly jumps off the ship in shock, whirling around surprised only to see the three of you standing there, eyes flickering nervously between Wooyoung and his captain before his gaze settles on the head gunner. "Uhhh-"
Wooyoung cracks a tiny grin, not fully there but it's something, scuffs the toe of his boot on the deck. "I know, I know. I'm sorry for being an idiot." At Wooyoung's easy demeanor, Mingi's shoulders sag before he reaches over to punch his friend in the arm, hard.
"Ow!" Wooyoung yelps, cradling his arm to his chest dramatically, nursing the sore spot where Mingi hit him. You can see a bruise forming there already. "What was that for?" His voice rises into a whine high pitched from pain.
Mingi's eyes narrow sharply. "That's for beating up Captain." At his words, Hongjoong moves to hide his laughter behind his hand, but the only sound that escapes his mouth is a yelp as Mingi punches his captain hard in the shoulder too.
"Ow!" He complains, mimicking Wooyoung as he rubs his shoulder ruefully. "What did I do? I try to be a good captain and end up getting beat up three times in one day? I don't deserve this. Chin Hae, it hurts-" You stifle a polite snort.
"And that's for being beat up by Wooyoung, you dummy." Mingi talks over his captain, rolling his eyes before they find yours, and then he's raising his hand and you find yourself flinching back, because oh my god is he going to punch you as well-
"Thank you for looking after these two idiots for me." Mingi says softly, one large hand resting gently on your head and you stare up at him with wide eyes, there's a small curve at the side of his mouth and wow, because he's smiling at you.
"You're welcome." You reply brightly, ignoring Hongjoong's dismayed 'I am the captain, you can't just call me an idiot!' and Wooyoung's indignant cry of 'captain is the only idiot on this ship!'. Then suddenly, Mingi frowns and backpedals to an earlier part of the conversation as his hand falls back to his side. "Wait, wait, wait, Captain, did I hear you right earlier? Did you really just say you want to allow Captain Kang onto the ship again? After all he's done to us?"
There’s a pregnant pause for a moment.
"Oh, right." Hongjoong pauses, scratches at his chin. Mingi shoots him an incredulous stare at him. "Maybe I am an idiot after all."
"You idiot!" Mingi exclaims, grabbing his captain by the ear and you wince sympathetically as Mingi raps his knuckles across Hongjoong's forehead like he's trying to crack a very large egg. "Did Wooyoung beat the very last dregs of your sanity out of you along with your common sense?"
"Just a second here, it's not my fault if Captain's nuts, he's always been and it's not my doing-" Wooyoung hurriedly holds up both hands and Hongjoong hollers at the unintended bashing to both his pride and forehead before wriggling out of his quartermaster's grasp. Sucking in a deep breath, he stares indignantly at the three of you, one hand adjusting his eyepatch and the other desperately flattening his ruffled hair.
"I am the captain!" Is all he manages.
The three of you burst into a fit of laughter, he looks absolutely frazzled. But your laughter is soon stifled when Seonghwa moves over to the starboard to speak to Hongjoong.
"Captain Kang says he insists on speaking to you, Captain… and that he'll hand over the antidote to Yunho's poison if you allow him to bring Gunho's body back with him, and to speak to Yeosang for a few minutes." He jerks his thumb at the gangplank waiting to be lowered at the port side of the ship, where you know Captain Kang and the remainder of his men are gathered. "We're waiting on your orders."
You swallow the saliva that seems to have built up in your throat, nerves weighting heavily on you. After all these years, why would Kang Yongsun want to see the child that he left behind and abandoned for dead so long ago? Some sort of sadistic satisfaction of seeing how much his son has suffered over the years at the hands of the bloodthirsty pirates? Or something else?
At that, Hongjoong chews his lower lip thoughtfully, brow knitted as he weighs the pros and cons with care. On one hand, he doesn't ever want to see that filthy man's face ever again, let alone have to let Yeosang lay eyes on the father that gave him up so many years ago, and yet… and yet… the cure to Yunho's illness is right there, nearly in their grasp. After so much fighting and battling, they can finally save Yunho… but why does this seem too easy? Throat dry, he licks his lips, opens his mouth to speak without really knowing his answer.
"I-"
But before he can say anything, someone else interrupts him.
"Let him come aboard." You spin around, eyes widening with surprise to see Yeosang standing at the foot of the stairs of the quarterdeck, gazing quietly, even serenely at the gangplank, where the father who abandoned him awaits. "Let him come aboard." He repeats, a little louder this time, turning to face the five of you with a brave smile, fingers twisting around the hem of his shirt. "So that we can save Yunho and finally end all of this once and for all."
Your heart breaks. “Oh, Yeosang...”
Wooyoung's mouth pulls downwards into a frown, reaching out to tug on Yeosang's sleeve gently. "Hey. I don't want you to feel obliged to have to meet that bastard just so we can save Yunho, alright? I could always just shoot his head from here, and we could-" You smack his arm for talking about Yeosang's father like that in front of his own child. Yeosang might have been abandoned by his father, but the soft hearted navigator is far too gentle for his own good.
Yeosang shakes his head, letting out a soft breath. "It's alright. It's time for me to face my own demons too, after all, like what Seonghwa has done. I have questions of my own that I'd like to ask him too, things that I wasn't brave enough to ask back then. Why did you hate me so, father? What did I do to deserve your ire?" He trails off, lost in thought.
Hongjoong looks conflicted for a moment, before he sighs and nods. "In the end, it's your choice, Yeosang." Hongjoong says quietly, resting a hand on Yeosang's shoulder. The navigator looks up at him with troubled eyes. "But remember, no matter what you choose," his captain squeezes him lightly, before moving off to give the orders to lower the gangplank, "that you will always have a family in us."
Yeosang stands there silent for a second, stock still, you stare at him with eyes wide with concern, but then just as you’re about to approach him, ask him if he’s alright, he simply smiles lightly and shakes his head, following behind his captain's retreating back to meet his father. "I know that already, idiot captain."
"I heard that!"
"Chin Hae, do you want to hear what happens or go to the sickbay with San-" Seonghwa begins, but the second you hear your master's name, you wave your hand and its accompanying stump with a smile. You're really not ready to face your master again, especially after the awful things you'd said to him. "I'll go see what's going on. Got to find some way to satisfy this curiosity, after all."
The cook gives you a kind nod and guides you to the port side, where they're already lowering the gangplank, Wooyoung loading and priming his musket behind the two of you. Mingi and Jongho are already standing there, flanking the gangplank, the former brandishing his fearsome battle axe and the latter his club.
"Gangplank lowered!" One of the crewmen call and Jongho's fingers tighten on the handle tersely. You feel something cold run down your spine as the creaking of wood reaches your ears, and the footsteps draw ever closer… And finally, Captain Kang steps on board the Treasure.
"The antidote." Mingi demands instantly, and Captain Kang eyes him coldly.
"And lose the only bargaining chip keeping me and my men alive? Perish the thought. I shall not hand it over till I have seen and spoken to my son." He says stonily and Wooyoung bristles with anger, "why, you-"
"Shh." You say, laying your hand gently on Wooyoung's arm, he calms a little, but his lips are still tightly pressed together and his fingers play with the trigger of his gun. Hongjoong steps forward, expression neutral.
"I understand your point, but my battlemaster is dying, I would have you hand over the antidote immediately. I promise upon my honor that no harm will come to you or your crew."
"And what worth is the honor of a pirate?" One of Royal Navy officers spits, his hand brandishing his saber. Mingi growls, a noise deep in his throat as he squares up the shorter man, but the officer is broad shoulders and the deadly glint in his eyes show that he would be no pushover in battle either.
The two men are trapped in a battle of wills for a long second before another officer puts a hand on his comrades' shoulder, pulling him back with a forced grin on his face. "Now, now, Joohoney, this isn't really how you speak to someone you're trying to negotiate with! What would Lieutenant Shownu say?"
"Shut up, Minhyuk." 'Joohoney' snarls, fist clenching so tightly around the handle of his sabre that his knuckles go white. He's trembling with emotion, rage, not fear, you realise. "These damn pirates are the scourge of the seas, they're the reason why so many of our comrades are dead, and-"
"Enough!" Commander Kang snaps and 'Joohoney' reluctantly falls silent. "If you cannot keep your tongue still, I will carve it out for you. Understood?" His voice allows no room for argument in the least.
"Yes, commander." He submits grudgingly, but that doesn't stop him from glaring at every single one of you as if he wishes he could slit your throats this very second. But his words leave you reeling on the inside… how can these terrible, corrupted, bloodthirsty Royal Navy officers possibly think that your crewmates are the scum after all they've done?
But before you can retort, your captain is already speaking.
"I swear upon the sea goddess," Hongjoong says, and you hear a sharp intake of breath from both Royal Navy officers and your crewmates alike, "that under no circumstance will any member of my crew harm any member of your crew unless first blood is drawn."
"Captain! Swearing on the sea goddess, are you crazy?" Mingi hisses out of the corner of his mouth, but his captain does not reply, merely holding gazes with the Royal Navy commander. Eventually, Commander Kang lets his shoulders relax slightly, and pulls out a small vial filled with clear liquid, placing it in your captain's outstretched palm. Without breaking eye contact, Hongjoong passes it to Seonghwa, who dashes off the sickbay with it. Mingi scowls, hefting his battle axe threateningly. "Any tricks, Commander…"
"Bring me Gunho's body." Commander Kang demands and Hongjoong nods to another two crew members, who carry out a body wrapped with a clean linen sheet, setting it before the commander. Quietly, Commander Kang kneels before the corpse, tugging the sheet down with such gentle hands one would scarcely believe him to have ever held a sword, until Gunho's face is revealed to them once more, eyes still wide open staring at the sun he had died gazing upon.
For a second, such intense emotion flickers across Commander Kang's face you briefly wonder if you had imagined it, but then he composes himself and slides Gunho's eyes closed gently, pressing a soft kiss to his bloodied forehead.
"Rest in peace, my son."
Chaos erupts on deck.
"What?" Wooyoung gapes, too stunned to be angry and you find yourself mirroring his expression, mouth falling open in shock. My son? Does Yeosang have two illegitimate brothers who were gladiators in Vena Cruz that he didn't know of? But wait, Yunho once mentioned that his parents had sold him and his brother off, so how could Commander Kang possibly be Gunho's father?
Amidst the chaos, Commander Kang rises and gestures for his crew to take the body away, but Jongho stops him by standing stubbornly between the body and the commander. "You dare call a man of another's blood your son in front of the flesh and blood you abandoned?" He asks, deadly quiet.
Commander Kang meets his eyes coolly, though there is a small hint of guilt that flickers in his eyes when he glances over at Yeosang, wiping tears quietly at the side. Then he sighs, exhales a long breath, and looks directly at his son. "I suppose this is time to explain everything, Yeosang."
Yeosang's red rimmed eyes snap up in shock as his father addresses him by name, hands falling limp to the sides while his lips part slightly to say, "Father…?" Kang Yongsun manages a small, resigned curve of the lips that is barely there at all, but nods, gesturing at the dead body of Jeong Gunho.
"Gunho isn't your brother… I just… adopted him, in a way." Commander Kang says very softly. Then he pauses, shakes his head. "Ah, but I'm getting ahead of myself. All of my life, I've never listened to you, Yeosang. What do you want to know?"
"Eh?" Yeosang fumbles, clearly unused to being treated this way by his father in all his memories.
"I… I…" "He wants to know why you hate him." Wooyoung says loudly, glaring at the Commander before you smack his arm with a roll of the eyes. "What?"
"Well… where do I start?" Kang Yongsun murmurs to himself, although all of you hear him. You feel your breath catching in your throat as your anticipation only grows, waiting for his next words to come...
"The easiest explanation would be that… you killed your mother."

The Five Stages of Grief (Sam Drake x Reader) PART TWO
PART ONE
Summary: Samuel Drake is dead to the world, stuck in a prison for a crime he did not commit for the rest of eternity.
Uncharted Masterlist
RDR2 Masterlist
Of The Valley (Joel x Reader Masterlist)
Two years stuck with Rafe Adler. Two years of living in Scotland in a grand apartment he hated. Two years of having to see Rafe’s smug face every month while Sam busted his ass looking in the Saint Dismas Cathedral. Just when he thought he was free, he was practically owned by Rafe. He had no personal money and nowhere to go so he stayed.
Most nights he drowned himself in booze, hookers, nicotine, anything that would quell the ache in his heart. After years and years of solitude, Sam thought he deserved the party. Rafe didn’t care that Sam spent his money on such foolish things, he was filthy rich, Sam bought more cigarette boxes than he could count, a pack of cigarettes in prison was like a goldbar, so he stocked up on them to feel rich. Force of habit. But it did not stop the guilt, it felt wrong to sleep with other women, it felt wrong to drink without you. He missed you, he did, but he knew that chapter was over.
But eventually he got tired of it, he had found enough clues to gather his own case and look for Henry Avery’s treasure with Nathan. He had been keeping tabs on Nathan, it was true, he had been married, worked for some diving company. He had even found a few of Nathan’s old contacts, a flirtatious woman named Chloe and a brute British man named Cutter. He had them both sworn to secrecy, both of them would rather Nathan be oblivious and remain in his happy, boring, normal life.
He was too afraid to look you up.
Sam felt guilty about coming so abruptly into Nathan’s life again. It wasn’t fair, he knew that, but Rafe did not deserve the treasure and it was him and his brother’s legacy to find it. He wondered how Nathan would react to finding out his older brother was alive.
He tracked down Saint Dismas’ cross weeks ago. So here he stood, knocking on his little brother’s work, early in the morning. His heart was pounding wildly.. he was finally seeing Nathan. Guilt wrecked havoc inside of him, he knew it was wrong to lie to him, to come so suddenly back into his life. But Sam needed the adventure, it was selfish but he had earned it.
“We’re not open yet,” Nathan called out.
It was really him.
Sam knocked again, louder.
“We’re closed!” Nathan shouted back.
Sam knocked insistently.
“Come on, man, alright! I’m coming, I’m coming..” Nathan huffed. He heard the door click..
“Yeah, can I help you?”
“Yeah I’m uh, looking for my little brother. He’s about your height, a little bit leaner, definitely less grays in the temple.”
Nathan’s eyes were wide, like he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
“Sam?”
Hearing Nathan say his name again was like music to his ears, he never even thought he would see him again. Nathan was older now, he looked different but it was still him. He was still his baby brother.
“It’s good to see you again, Nathan.”

“And you’re sure he’s in this motel?” You confirmed, Elena nodded, anger spread across her face. She was so disappointed in him.
“I’m certain. A name was registered under ‘Harry Flynn’.”
“Really? He chose Flynn?” You rolled your eyes. Elena shot you a look, not the time for jokes..
You walked her to the motel, you managed to bribe the receptionist for a key to the room. King’s Bay was humid, your clothes stuck to you making every movement more uncomfortable.
Elena called you two nights ago, she explained that she believed Nathan was lying to her, and that Sully had all but confirmed it. Sully didn’t outright say yes or no, but she knew. You lived in New Orleans with them, a few streets over from their house. Elena was your best friend. Nathan was like your brother. So, here you were, King’s Bay. Walking into a rundown motel, ready to confront her idiot husband. You were upset with Nathan too, especially for hurting Elena. There was shitstorm brewing, and you would undoubtedly take Elena’s side.
Elena looked back at you, you looked at her with sympathy.
“Good luck,” You said to her, giving her a quick hug. She nodded and shut the door, you went around the corner to wait for her.
God, Nathan was so dumb, you leaned against the wall and waited. King’s Bay was nice this time of the year, besides the humidity. Maybe if things got messy you would take a walk around the block. What Nathan and Elena were about to step into was personal.. you didn’t want to be anywhere near that right now.
A motorcycle pulled up to the motel, you heard Nathan begin talking. Something about a chase? Shoreline? What the hell was he going on about? You didn’t want to risk it, they could easily spot you if you even popped your head around the corner.
They entered the room.
Silence for a few minutes, you tapped your foot nervously. Elena needed you right now. The humidity was especially suffocating, or maybe it was because you were anxious too.
Then you heard her exit quietly and you let our the breath you had been holding.
“Elena!” You called out to her. “What happened?”
Elena continued walking, she wanted to get as far away from that room as possible. “He lied to me, again. All he does is lie,” She said bitterly fighting back tears.
You walked quickly to catch up with her stride, you were around the corner before she spoke again.
“I- I can’t do this anymore,” She told you, her voice cracking. She shook her head in disbelief.
“Elena, just breathe. What happened?” You said calmly, glancing back at the room.
“He’s looking for some pirate treasure - Henry Avery.”
Henry Avery..? Sam’s, Henry Avery? What the hell was going on.
“And, now he has a brother?” She breathed out.
“What?” Nathan brought up Sam?
“He told me his name is Sam. Nathan looks just like him,” Elena replied, she watched the confusion fill your eyes.
“He showed you a photo of Sam?”
“No, he’s in there. In the room.” She pointed to the motel.
You were speechless, you stared at the door. It couldn’t be true. There was no way.
“What’s going on?” Elena asked, she was the one being kept in the dark.
“I-“ You were at loss of words. There was no way he was in there, it simply wasn’t possible. Sam Drake was dead, you buried him years ago, but your eyes were fixed on the door. There was no way..
“Who is Sam?” She repeated, she was becoming worried.
“Sam is Nathan’s older brother.. he died years ago in a Panamanian jail.. Nathan and I don’t like talking about him,” You confessed, snapping out from your trance to look at her.
Her brows furrowed in confusion.
“We were dating.. And then fifteen years ago he died.. he told me was going to marry me after he found Henry Avery’s treasure.” Sam Drake was dead.. he died years and years ago.
“What?”
“It’s not possible.. he’s dead, Elena. Sam is dead and he’s been that way for a long time.” You blinked back tears, and yet your eyes kept trailing to that door.
“He’s in there. Sully even told me that it was him.”
“It can’t be true,” You mumbled.
“Just.. go, I’ll be waiting here for you,” She urged you to go to the door.
You nodded, that door felt like miles away, it felt like every step you took it got farther. Until you were right in front of it.
There’s no way..
You knocked.
“Elena?” Nathan opened the door quickly, expecting to see her instead.
You gathered your thoughts.
“Elena.. told me that she saw Sam.”
“Yeah, yeah she did..” Nathan trailed off, his voice quiet.
“What?” You could feel the tears coming on strong now.
“Sam?” Nathan turned around and called out his name.
Nathan moved out of the way, and suddenly there he was.
“Hi.”
Now you were truly speechless.
“No.. I.. I buried you a long time ago.”
“I’m still here.” It was like your hearts were beating as one, you couldn’t believe it, Sam was really here.
Tears fell from your eyes like silent raindrops.
“I’m home. I came back like I said.”
Sam promised you that he would come back and marry you.. except he lied. Nathan never told you the details of what happened to save your sanity.. but you assumed it was not a peaceful death. It kept you up at night.. thinking of how Sam probably suffered.
He stepped closer to you, walking slowly and fragile, like you were going to shatter.
“How?”
“I lived. Doctor patched me up and threw me back in,” He explained, he was right in front of you. You wanted to reach out and touch him, just to make sure he was real.
“If I knew you were still alive, I would-” Your voice broke.
“Shh.. I know. I know. I don’t blame you for anything.”
He pulled you into a hug. He was real.. he felt the same, his hug was still strong and secure and safe. He still smelt the same, he still loved you the same.
“God, I missed you so much,” You sobbed into his chest, he brushed your hair down. You were out of a sync without him.
Sam was dreading the day he would have had to knock on your door and disrupt everything, but instead, you knocked on his. He was scared to face you, to see how you changed without him. It was supposed to be you and him against the world.
Sam asked Nathan not to talk about you when they were in Italy.. Nathan was confused but he agreed. It was too painful for Sam to hear how you had gone to live your life without him in it.
“I missed you too,” He replied. It felt so good to hug you, two years ago he never thought he would ever even see you again, but now you were here in his arms. It felt.. almost wrong.. underneath that happiness there was the current of selfishness. You were a married woman.. he shouldn’t take so much pleasure in being hugged by you. But god, he did. He lied to Nathan and he was going to have to lie to you too.
You let your emotions get the best of you, you took his face in your hands, looking deeply into his eyes and you kissed him, feeling the tears drip down the side of your face.
Sam pushed you away after a few moments.. he looked shamefully away.
“We shouldn’t..”
You blinked in surprise. You were so stupid to have thought that things would be the same.
“Why?”
“Your husband.”
“What husband?” You asked.
“You’re married, aren’t you?”
You lifted up your left hand, “I was saving it for you.”
Rafe lied. He felt his blood get hot.. Rafe lied to him, took two years away from him and you being together, all to get Sam to stay.
You kissed him again, you really kissed him. He melted into your touch, all that anger and pain went away. All those years in prison meant nothing now, he was here and you were here. All those beatings, nightmares, pain, it meant absolutely nothing in your arms. And he was kissing you so lovingly, it was a welcome home kiss. It was a kiss that was a promise, that he would never leave your side again. And you knew it was true. It felt like it lasted forever, and you did not mind forever. Especially with how much time you lost being with him, forever seemed better than good.

The Future is Bright, Chapter 1
[Chapter 1 (Beginning) - you are here!] // [Chapter 2] // [Chapter 10 (End)] (FFN)
Credit for the inspiration of this newest story goes to @hot-anime-plundar! I finally got around to writing it in full (10 chapters). :) Thank you for allowing me the use of your idea! Updates will be on Sundays.
Summary: What would happen if Cole had indeed had a reflection in the tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master? How would that have changed his life later? What would it have been? This story follows what might have happened if he had seen something, and what it was; who he would have become. What if his future was already decided?... (Rated T for safety. Alternate title: the Cosmic Spoilers AU.)
Chapter 1: The Tomb and the City
The arrival of ghosts was not something any of the Ninja expected, and certainly not something Cole had thought would happen to them. No, he hadn't expected anything like what had happened; what’s more, he really didn't like being stuck as a ghost.
Of course, it wasn’t as if he could change the fact that he was a ghost. It was… irreversible.
Days, weeks later– how long had it been?– he was stuck in an underwater ship, going to Lloyd's grandfather's tomb. It was a wild goose chase, but they were there to hunt down a magic crystal and hope that Morro hadn’t killed the youngest of his brothers. It was a dire thought, but there was at least a little levity; the irony of it all made it at least a little bearable.
The seawater crashed against R.E.X.’s walls as they descended, and Cole tried to ignore it by cataloguing the events since Morro’s return. As he thought back to the beginning of this mess, it was a bit of a blur in his memory. One moment they’d been trying to advertise the tea shop, the next they were fighting for their lives and Lloyd’s freedom; it was all just too fast to keep straight.
He was too tired to remember.
No, he couldn’t say that anymore. Of course. Cole couldn’t blame tiredness, or hunger, or thirst, or anything he felt, for how messy the whole deal was. Now that he was a First-Master-forsaken ghost, he couldn’t feel anything but cold and emptiness… how fitting.
It was almost a relief when conversation resumed and they were attacked by a giant squid. Then they were at the tomb, with R.E.X. gone… and everyone else felt just as cold as he did.
-----
When they reached the ice maze, they knew Morrow was ahead of them, but it was hard to ignore the grandeur of the place despite him. Around them, great walls of ice reached up, dwarfing the Ninja as they regained their breath from the slides that went down to it from the chamber with the golden staff. Ice coated every surface but the rocky floor, making for traction but not the same amount of reflection. There was a source of light somewhere unknown, filtering through the ice in its watery way, and it made the area almost feel sleepy.
As he took in the surroundings, Cole couldn’t help but look up, up, up at the walls and wonder what the caves were for. Were they always there? Did the First Master make them? It was a curious thought– had the creator of the realm made something without the Golden Weapons, too?
The four didn’t take very long to stop and marvel, resolving to continue in and follow Morro. After all, they had to beat him to the Realm Crystal. However, they stopped again when they reacted the first of the ice walls.
When they reached it, Zane approached the wall alone, curiosity written on his mechanical features. “My reflection… is that me?” He paused, examining it and turning his head this way and that. “I look older, but my attire is… different. This is not what I look like right now at all.”
“Really?” Kai followed him. Then he stared at himself, taking a moment to redo the spikes in his hair a little. “Well… mine looks like me, but older. There’s a bunch of magic junk in this tomb; makes sense that the ice walls are magic too.” He grinned. “By the way, I aged super well.”
“Wait, really?” Jay ran up to his own with a beaming grin. “Let’s see!” He looked himself over in glee. “Woah ho ho! I get an awesome eyepatch!” he yelled, voice echoing through the caverns.
“Shh!” Kai hissed. “Jay! Morro’s in here!”
“I know, I know, give me a break!” Jay laughed. “Magic ice is telling me I’m gonna be a pirate, and he knows already.” He touched the ice. “There’s just a thing next to me– a blur. What is that…” Jay stopped talking and watched as the blur shifted, and then sighed, sounding completely smitten. Now he whispered. “...I end up with Nya.”
Cole tried to hear what Jay said, but for once, he was too quiet. Cole only shrugged to himself– it was probably nothing. No, he walked up to the ice wall as well, taking a moment to look at the others before his reflection. “I wonder what mine is.”
“Well, look at it!” Kai called. “We don’t have forever!”
“Fine.” After a moment of trepidation, Cole looked to the ice.
As soon as Cole caught sight of his reflection, Cole couldn’t help but stare. Looking back at him in the ice was himself. He didn’t smile or move if Cole didn’t, but it was no vision of his current self… it really was the future.
In the ice, Future Cole’s hair was longer. He wore white and blue, not black– a sort of robe that tied at the waist, with a belt that had his dragon symbol for the clasp. However, two things were most surprising: a yin-yang pin on his chest, and an orange scar on his very much not ghostly temple, reaching halfway down his face. He was everything that Cole was not right now.
As Cole took in the image, he couldn’t help but grin. Future Cole grinned too, and laughter lines appeared by his eyes. He stared, taking in the sight of himself, until he heard the sound of Kai’s impatient footsteps behind him. “Well? What do you see? You got all quiet.”
Cole turned to him, still grinning wildly, and couldn’t help a little laugh. “I’m human again!”
“What? That’s impossible!” Kai cried. “I mean, it’s good, but it’s still impossible!”
“Apparently not!”
“Kai, you forget that we believed ghosts were impossible before recently,” Zane interrupted, coming over to look as well. “Cole, what do you see?”
“I… well, I’m human.” He examined it again in awe. “There’s… there’s a weird scar on my temple, but otherwise it’s like nothing ever happened.”
Jay laughed. “That’s awesome! You don’t stay a ghost!” He tore his eyes away from his reflection and came up to Cole’s, looking at it curiously. “That’s weird... You’re dressed differently than I am.”
Cole tore his eyes away and looked at Jay. “Really? What do you mean?”
Jay shrugged. “I’m wearing something like, I don’t know, a sensei’s robe. You’re wearing a dress!”
“It’s not a dress! Those are formal robes!” He looked back at it, frowning. “Though… white and blue isn’t like the Ninjagian royal family, so that can’t be it. Plus, a yang pin…”
Kai gaped. “You’ve got a yang?!” The sound of his shout echoed through the ice maze, shrill and bouncing off the ice.
“Quiet!” Zane hissed, covering Kai’s mouth with one freezing cold hand. “Remember, Morro is here. We must stay focused!”
Cole grimaced as Kai recoiled from Zane’s touch. “Crud– okay, yeah. Having a yang is not so great, but let’s talk later!” He glanced back at the ice one last time. “We’d better find Morro.” Still, that was his future self...
He frowned again. Was his reflection glowing green, like a ghost? Why would it glow like that if he was human?
Realization crashed down with even more ghostly coldness as the glow darkened and grew. It wasn’t his reflection, or anything like it.
The words ripped from his throat before he could think. “Morro’s here! LOOK OUT!”
-----
For years, the memory of the First Spinjitzu Master’s tomb was one that stuck with Cole more closely than he would admit to anyone.
Long after Morro and the Preeminent had been defeated, he still found himself sometimes thinking about what he’d seen. Some days he’d ignore it, knowing he’d recognize his path when he saw it. Other days it would weigh on him, much more than it ever did on the others. After all, he had a different fate than them, and apparently a yang to go with it. What did that leave for him to decide?
Nevertheless, and despite Cole’s worries, it didn’t seem to come. Years passed with no sign of any of his brothers’ futures coming to pass– the only exception was Jay, whose relationship with Nya was rebuilt stronger than ever. Even so, the rest (including the eyepatch) didn’t seem to happen, and Cole wondered if it ever would. Maybe it was a trick, or a test from the First Master. What if it wasn’t real at all?
Whatever the truth was, the vision slowly faded from his mind, and he eventually conceded to let it come to pass when it would. There was too much to do and think about, anyway; a biker gang, being stranded in another realm (or three), and evil emperors were just a few of them. There was never a rest, never a break, until after they’d liberated the prisoners of Prime Empire. It was only then that he remembered the vision… and promptly tried to ignore it again.
Despite Cole’s desire to avoid his memories, another adventure came too quickly for his liking. It was an invitation to a place he’d only heard stories of, mostly from his mother as a child. It was to the mythical city of Shintaro, deep in the mountains in central Ninjago. On the surface, it looked like a vacation, but Cole knew better; it was bound to become yet another mess to clean up.
When they at last arrived, the Ninja looked in awe upon the ivory city. There were spires and minarets on every building, and especially the palace. The city’s flagstone streets were perfectly clean, the roofs were gilt, the people were the fairest-skinned people Cole had ever seen– all in all, it was a true wonder to see.
The city’s force of winged guards escorted them to the palace as honored guests, having saved them from horrid direbats as they entered. As they went into the palace, their eyes caught on the vaulted and painted ceilings, buttresses, and columns everywhere. Every wall seemed to be inlaid with gold and carvings, or painted beautifully enough that they would stop looking where they were going. That was what happened when Kai walked into Lloyd, who had stopped to stare– they’d hit their heads, and rubbed them ruefully as Nya rolled her eyes.
Despite their distraction and awe, the Ninja eventually reached the throne room, and without injury. When they reached it, two Shintaran guards opened the doors. The captain of the guard–a man named Hailmar, if Cole had heard him correctly– led them in, gesturing to them and bowing to the throne.
“It is with great honor, King Vangelis,” he cried, “that I present the famed Ninja of Ninjago!”
At his announcement, the king stood from where he’d been sitting on his throne to greet them. He wore white and blue robes that struck Cole as being very familiar, but he struggled to place the familiarity. The king didn’t seem to notice his confusion, as he smiled at them and spread his hands.
“Welcome, welcome! I’m most pleased that you were able to accept our invitation.” The king bowed in greeting. “It is an honor.”
“The honor is ours,” Sensei Wu responded with a matching bow. “Shintaro is beyond anything we imagined.”
The king smiled benevolently. “I’m only a figurehead. The citizens of our proud city are the heart of Shintaro.”
“Oh!” A cheerful voice came from the side of the throne room. “They’re here!”
Cole looked over to its source. The voice belonged to a lovely young woman, dressed in white and blue robes to match the king’s. She was grinning excitedly, and bowed in greeting hastily. Cole’s eyes caught on her– she was beautiful, in a young sort of way, and he immediately knew she was the princess. The colors were still so strangely familiar...
The king beamed at his daughter as she entered. “Ah! Please, meet my heart– her royal Princess Vania.”
Vania happily approached them, coming to stand in front of the Ninja with barely-contained excitement. “I am such a fan of yours. I’ve read all about your adventures! It was my idea to invite you to my birthday.”
Cole couldn’t help but smile at her. Her enthusiasm was infectious! He hadn’t realized it, but she was at least half a head shorter than him– not that her small stature contained her enthusiasm. “Well, it’s an honor to be here, Princess.”
She smiled back, cheerful and bright, and looked among them. “So, is it true that you’ve been to Hiroshi’s Labyrinth?”
“Affirmative,” Zane noted cheerfully.
“Competed in the Tournament of Elements?”
“Oh, do we have stories for you,” Kai added with a grin.
She gasped. “I need to hear them all!”
“Where shall we begin?” Cole was about to tell her a story, but he stopped, for Hailmar had descended between them. He was frowning, clearly protective and watching Cole distrustfully. However, he stepped aside for the king, who set a hand on Cole’s shoulder.
“You can begin by following me!” the king interjected with a smile. “Tomorrow will be a very busy day for all of us; I will show you to your rooms here.” He led them to hallway, and the whole group began walking together.
“Cole, the Earth elemental,” Vania began, coming up alongside him with no sign of losing her excited smile. “What is it like to command the very earth? Is it as fun as it sounds?”
He grinned back at her– it wasn’t hard. “Yeah, pretty much.”
“That’s what I thought. Personally, it sounds amazing! Imagine what you could do with the mountains!”
“Oh yeah, just about anything you can think of! It’s pretty cool.”
King Vangelis hummed in interest. “Are you quite strong, Cole?”
Cole looked to him, then shrugged sheepishly. “Well, uh, I guess. Not the strongest person– that’s probably Karloff– but I can move a lot.”
Vania flushed a light pink. “Come on, Father! He’s the Master of Earth. I’m sure he’s very strong.”
“But of course,” the king said indulgently, though not with the same enthusiasm. “I’m sure the Master of Earth is more than a match for our mountains.”
Cole grinned self-consciously. “That’s really nice of you to say, your Majesty.”
“Think nothing of it,” the king dismissed. “I simply hope you find Shintaro as lovely as we do during your visit. I have personally seen to it that you will want for nothing while in our borders.”
Cole smiled properly at the king. “That’s really nice of you, your Majesty. Thank you.”
“Consider it thanks for all you’ve done for us.” Vangelis smiled flatteringly. “After all, Ninjago’s business is our business. We’re at your service.”
“Yes, we are!” Vania repeated. “I’d be happy to show you around the palace, actually.”
“Well, we’d love a tour,” Cole responded hesitantly. “All of us are super excited to see Shintaro.”
“Of course.” A little wind seemed to be taken out of her sails, but she quickly bounced back. “I’d love to show you all around! I think there’s a spot in the garden you’ll love…”
From there, conversation flowed easily. Cole was completely engrossed in it, even as the king fell behind to talk to the others more, mostly with Master Wu. Behind the group, Jay stopped to whisper with Lloyd and Nya, watching Cole from behind.
“The princess seems to like Cole!” he remarked. “I mean, he’s my best friend and all, but… Cole?”
Lloyd glared at Vania’s back. “Yeah… weird.”
Nya elbowed Lloyd harshly. “Not every princess is like Harumi! Plus, Jay... you’re not subtle.”
“Nya, my darling, my yang, love of my life–”
“Jay.”
“–all I’m saying is that she has a thing for him! When has that happened?”
Nya was about to retort back, but paused, considering what he said. “...You know what? It’s been a while for him.” She pointed at Jay. “That’s really cool, but don’t tease him!”
Jay frowned, muttering. “I have to, he’s my best friend.”
Nya reached over and smacked him.
“Ow!”
“We’re in the presence of royalty!” she hissed.
“Fine,” he whined. “I won’t tease him in the presence of royalty.”
Lloyd gave him a curious look. “Is that code for ‘I’m going to bug him later?’”
“Yes. Yes it is.”
Lloyd snickered. “Do it.”

“You know, you have something he doesn’t have,” You mumbled as Harry looks at you, seeing your eyes wander off to the distance, “You have love and friendship, and that’s why they fear you, Harry.”

“Oppugno!”
Swishing your wand as it goes to attack the death eaters hot on yours and the trio’s tail. Running through the Ministry of Magic, was a thrill really. You had been bored out of your mind just waiting for the polyjuice potion to be perfectly brewed. And, everyone has gone back to Hogwarts, you really don’t want to know what was going on back there. It was a vicious game of waiting, with limited clues onto where the horcruxes were and how to destroy them.
Harry was leading the way, he was the first back into the atrium, sliding into the fireplace. You follow quickly behind, then Hermione and then lastly Ron. However, at the last moments, Yaxley grabbed Hermione's arm as all four of you disapparated.
You thought you were going to end up back at the Black home, but when you collect your bearings you had found yourself in a forest. Unknown and unfamiliar to you. You had noticed Harry landed not too far from you, you sat up to see him remove his jacket and grabbing the locket that Hermione was yanked from Umbridge’s neck.
“Shh, shh, shh. It's all right. It's okay,” Hermione soothes as you turn to see Ron bleeding from his arm.
Your eyes widen as you crawl towards Hermione, looking at Harry, “Harry. Harry, quickly, in Hermione’s bag. There's a bottle labelled Essence of Dittany.’ Grab it quick.” “Shh. Shh, okay, okay,” Hermione continue to soothe as Ron was almost sobbing from the pain, Hermione looked at Harry and yelled, “Quickly!”
“Accio Dittany.” Harry pointed his wand inside her back, dropping his wand and moving as quickly as he can to you and Hermione, looking in horror to see Ron’s arm, “Hermione, his arm.”
“I know, just do it,” Harry hands her the bottle, “Okay.”
“Okay, Ron, Hermione is going to stop the pain but it's gonna sting a little bit first,” You reassure him as you look at Hermione, who started to do droplets upon his wound.
“What happened? I thought we meant to be going back to Grimmauld Place,” Harry questioned, looking at you as you looked at Hermione for her explanation.
“We were. We were. Shh,” She soothes Ron, trying to quiet down his cries and groans, “It's all right. One more, one more.”
The two of you watch as slowly Ron’s wound was starting to heal over as Hermione tried to reassure Ron and tell you and Harry why you weren’t in Grimmauld Place.
“We were there, we were there, but Yaxley had hold of me, and I-I knew once he'd seen where we were, we couldn't stay so I brought us here, but Ron got splinched.”
Ron had stopped his whines, his breathing was slowly returning to normal, in fact, there was no surprised that Ron would get splinched. You had heard that Ron hadn’t passed his test for apparating and obviously he could not return to Hogwarts to retake it.
“It's all right,” You say to him, as Harry comes by your side.
Hermione gets up and started to do enchantments around the area.
“What are you doing?” Harry asked, you really had to refrain yourself from rolling your eyes at his idiocy sometimes.
“Protective enchantments,” You responded, as you looked over Ron and his wound.
“I don't fancy another visit like the one we had in Shaftesbury Avenue, do you?” Hermione asked, moving down the area, gripping her wand in hand, “You can get going on the tent.”
“Tent?” Harry asked, “Where am I supposed to find a tent?”
Harry looked over to Hermione’s bag, moving towards it as he opens the small bag.
“Harry, whilst you’re there,” You called out, “Grab the bandages, Ron will need them.”
Tumblr media
“You think Harry will be alright?” You asked with your arms crossed over your chest as you looked over to where Harry had wandered off to.
Hermione was sitting on a log whilst Ron fiddled with the radio. You, Harry and Hermione, had attempted to try and destroy the horcrux but there was no avail. Harry had put the locket on around his neck and walked off, perhaps to cool off.
“He always is,” Ron says, you sighed, running your hand through your hair, “You should know, mate, you’re the one dating him.”
“Hm,” You responded, before turning around to sit on the log across Hermione, “He’s been like that since you told us about how you-know-who is tracking people.”
There was silence, “So, where do we go from here?” Ron asked as Hermione turns to look at you.
It was a silent agreement within the group that you and Hermione were great at making plans, more so Hermione. If Harry and Ron had left without taking you and Hermione, they’d get stuck perhaps killed. They needed your skills and Hermione’s brain.
“I guess,” You sighed, shrugging your shoulders, “We camp out, figure out how to destroy the locket and avoid getting killed.”
“And you need to heal,” Hermione says looking at Ron.
Tumblr media
“You alright?”
Harry snapped his head towards you to see you stand before the entrance of the tent, arms crossed over your chest. Your wand resting on the back of your ear, he stands up to match your height.
“I heard from Hermione,” You continued, “You feeling better now that’s off your chest?”
Harry sits back down, defeated as you sat by him. Handing him food, you softly smile as he takes it - biting down on the food. You looked at your surroundings, taking in the fresh air. You think how differently you would be if you decided to attend Hogwarts.
“Remember when we were eight?” You talked, having a feeling that your boyfriend didn’t want to talk, “We were playing pirates in my garden. You accidentally whacked me.”
“And I gave you a bloody nose,” Harry smiles softly, “I was convinced I broke it.”
“You did,” You nodded, chuckling, shaking your head, “But, mum used Episkey when you weren’t looking and we had convinced you that it was just a bloody nose.”
Harry looked at you as your smirk, “How close was I to magic?”
You shrugged your shoulders, “Close, but we weren’t trying to be obvious to you. Mum and I already broke a rule by seeing you in the neighbourhood and inviting you around. Dumbledore gave my mum a right earful because of it.”
“Well, you were my only friend,” Harry muttered, shuffling closer to you and leaning his head against your shoulder - you relaxed at his touch.
“Mum was your godmother, she never told you that but since Sirius couldn’t look after you, mum immediately went to buy a house nearby you. If she couldn’t look after you, she would help from afar - she made a promise to your mum, give you a good enough childhood as she can” You explained, sighing softly, “Mum often saw Lily in your eyes.”
“Many people do,” Harry responded.
“Seven years old?” You recalled back, “Halloween, we dressed up as wizards.”
“You found it hilarious and I could never figure out why,” Harry chuckled, moving to rest his chin on your shoulder so he could look at you, “You made me dress up as Dumbledore!”
“You suspected nothing!” You laughed, trying not to be too loud since you didn’t know who was about, “You know, I always had a crush on you. I only realised when we were in our third year.”
“And we only got together in our fifth year,” Harry spoke, “I fancied you in the fourth year, why did we not get together then?”
“You were smitten by Cho Chang that’s why-!” You exclaimed, rolling your eyes, “And I was trying to get over my crush on you by crushing on Cedric. Which, obviously, failed because you were prettier than him! And I guess we didn’t want to ruin what we built.”
“Years of friendship.”
“And trust and loyalty,” You reminded him, you looked at him with s goofy grin, “If I’m Merlin then you must be King Arthur!”
Harry groaned, shaking his head and rolling his eyes, “You said that when you tried to ask me out, it wasn’t funny then, it’s not funny now.”
“But, you said yes to a date with me? I’d count that as a win,” You spoke with a smug tone, “January 23rd, the day we officially became boyfriends, and also the day that Hermione and Ron forgot their argument that day to ask about the details.”
“It’s a miracle,” Harry mused out.
The two of you looked at each other before a smile had started to appear on their faces. Small laughter had escaped the two, Harry enjoyed the feeling. Despite the need to run and destroy the horcuxes - you being you was comforting enough. The two of you had calmed down, admiring the view, taking in the warmness that autumn had brought with.
“You know, you have something he doesn’t have,” You mumbled as Harry looks at you, seeing your eyes wander off to the distance, “You have love and friendship, and that’s why they fear you, Harry.”
You looked at him. Harry gets lost in your (e/c) eyes. Shining extraordinarily, as if it was the same twinkle in Dumbledore’s eyes. Your eyes smile, even if your lips do not convey that, your eyes do. They have always said that eyes are the window to the soul.
“It’s why they hate you, so, let them hate so long as they fear.”
You stood up, stretching your back as Harry watches you slowly return to enter the tent before stopping to look at him, to say one last thing to him before you keep to the tent. Words that gave Harry a little bit of motivation, words uttered by you that Harry cannot help but smile at your Merlin wisdom.
“After all, to be united by hatred is a fragile alliance at best.”

Never Shall we Die - 1
Tumblr media
Ok loves, I’ve had this in my WIP folder for awhile. I wanted to do this one right, IE actually have a story planned before I published the first chapter lol. This is a first for me, and I hope you like it! Let me know if you’d like to be tagged loves.
Before we start, this story was inspired by the lovely @beskarbabs Pirate!kylo story Thieves and Beggars. It is absolutely wonderful, and I recommend checking it out and giving her some love!

Another government meeting in the largest house in Port Royal. You sighed, sitting in the chair at your father's side. Ever since Mama had died, you'd been attending the meetings she would have, sitting in her place, tracing the grain on the ornate table top and wishing for something else to do.
Today it was something else about the boats. About the pirates, about the merchandise being moved. More boring things. You were ten! you wanted to be out playing in the gardens and chasing your father's hunting dogs around the grounds, finding flowers that your mother would then braid into your hair while she sang to you.
The thought of it made you miss her all the more. The Scarlatina had struck her hard, taking her energy and your unborn sibling. She had been too tired to play, to sing to you, to love you. And you supposed that wasn't her fault, but you had been angry with her. Thought she didn't love you. You wished for her to be taken away, considered running away so she would realize how much she missed you. You were so angry that when the doctors said she didn't have much time, you refused to see her. What did they know?
You always regretted that, you thought. What if seeing her had made her want to stay? You supposed you'd never know.
You looked up and realized your father was on his feet, shouting with another man in a fancy coat. He wouldn't notice your absence. You stood and walked towards the door, hiking up the skirt of your dress as you walked past the guards. They likely assumed you were headed to the chamber pot. Rather than taking a left down that hall, you continued straight, ducking out into the garden and sneaking out of the cracked wall, to the marketplace, where you did your most interesting people watching.
                                                 ***
"Blow high, Blow low, and so sailed we, the quarter that we gave them was to sink them in the sea, Sailing down 'long the coast of High Barbaree."  He sang quietly to himself as he walked down the streets of the markets. He tried to keep the drool in his mouth as he smelled the cooking meats and fresh fruits. He looked in all the stalls, thinking of how even one of those fish could feed him for a week. He stopped when he saw an unmanned stall, peeking over the edge to see what it contained.
Corn, bushel upon bushel of fresh green corn, just lying there, unattended, begging him to take them. He felt his stomach rumble as he imagined what his mum could do with even one ear of corn. He thought of cornbread, and boiled kernels, corn pudding, and without thinking of the repercussions he snatched two ears and tucked them under his vest.
He tried to hide the smile on his face as he walked down the street, trying to keep hold of the large vegetables. He hadn't realized the tops of the corn peeking out of the vest, and didn't notice until someone planted a large hand on his shoulder and spun him around.
"What have ye got there boy?" The man snarled, reaching into his jacket and pulling the ears of corn out.
"N-nothing." He stuttered, trying to squirm from the man's grip and reach for the corn.
"It sure don't look like nothing." The words were spat in his face as the man grabbed his arm and dragged him towards a pair of guards walking down the street towards him. He started trying to pull his arm away, kicking at the man and trying to go dead weight, but nothing worked. He couldn't be arrested, what would mum do? He grabbed the man's arm, pulling himself forward and sinking his teeth into his forearm.
The man shouted, dropping his arm and turning to smack him. He ducked under the fist, scrambling to his feet and running towards the only empty alleyway he could see. He wove through feet and dodged skirts and shoes, trying to put as much distance as possible between him and the guards.
He finally ducked behind a stack of barrels in an alleyway, smacking his head into someone else's face.
"Hey!" She cried, standing up and glaring down at him. She couldn't have been much younger than him, maybe only a year or two. She was wearing a fancy pale blue dress with a shiny gold necklace on. A castle rat. He sneered, ready to snap at her when he heard the guards.
"Where'd he go?" They snapped to one another. He watched the girl turn, her (h/c) curled hair bouncing around her face. She opened her mouth and Kylo pulled her down by her arm. She landed in his lap and he wrapped an arm around her middle to pin her arms down, using his other hand to cover her mouth.
"Shh!" He hissed in her ear while she struggled against him. It wasn't until the guards had walked past, and she was trying to bite his hand, that he released her. She scrambled away from him, turning to fix him with a bewildered stare.
"What do you think you're doing!?" She snapped. Kylo pushed himself up to his feet, looking down at her.
"Running." He said.
"But it's hard when a castle rat is in your hiding spot." He snapped at her. She seemed taken aback at that.
"Were you running from the guards?" He was silent in response, looking around to make sure the coast was clear before walking out from behind the barrels. She followed him, pulling the skirts of her long dress up and trying not to trip over the cobblestone in her fancy heels.
"Are you a thief?" She snapped, running ahead of him. He pushed past her to walk down the street, weaving between people and hoping she would leave him alone.
He had no such luck.
"What did you steal?" She pestered him. He continued to ignore her as he walked, hands tucked into the pockets of his trousers while he tried to avoid stares from people.
"If you don't tell me, I'll get the guards." She said, catching up with him. He growled low in his throat, wishing she would go away.
"They're right there, they'll listen to me over you, I know it." She said. He finally snapped, grabbing her arm and pulling her into another alleyway.
"Corn! I tried to steal corn. I'm hungry. Now will you fuck off?" He asked. For the first time since he'd met her she was silent. He tried to walk past her when she gently reached out and tugged on his sleeve.
"I'm sorry you're hungry. Would you like me to get you something?" She asked. He looked back at her with furrowed brows.
"I'm the governor's daughter, I can take whatever I'd like, and the guards can't do anything." She said. He shook his head, trying to push past her again.
"Wait, please!" She called, following after him.
"What do you want?" He snapped.
"I don't know." She said. He let out another sigh. He should have gone with the guards.
"You seem interesting." She said, looping her arm through his and leaning against him, the way his mother did with his father. Was it a lady thing? He wouldn't know. He resisted the urge to push her off as he walked through the streets towards the docks.
The two walked in silence. Well, he walked in silence, she rambled on and on about her father and what he did, how her mother had died, how she was important to the government, how she would grow up to marry the Commodore or some such nonsense. He was only half paying attention as they approached the docks. He admired the ships, both the small ones docked and the larger ones in the port that were too deep in the draft to come close.
"Did you hear me?" She asked, poking him harshly in the side. He winced and looked down at her.
"Have you ever been on a ship?" She repeated.
"No. I haven't." In truth, he wanted to be. He wanted to be sailing on a ship away from this wretched place. He wanted to take his mother and father and give them a better life somewhere else. Maybe to America, his father had taken them here, to Port Royal, in hopes of a better life. But they lived as peasants, scraping and begging for every last scrap of food. Maybe, if he had a ship, he could take them to the motherland. To Europe, or France even. But he was stuck here, on the docks, watching the ships come and go.
"I can get you on a ship." She said suddenly. He looked down to her with narrowed eyes and furrowed brows.
"What?"
"I said I can get you on a ship. Do your ears work?" She asked, tilting her head.
"Yes my ears work just fine." He snapped. "What's in it for you?" He'd learned, nothing came for free in life. Especially not in Port Royal.
She shrugged as she stepped forward. Her arm was still linked with his, so he followed her as she walked through the docks towards where the East India Trading Company ships were docked.
"I just want to know your name." She said. "And I'm bored, the ships always have interesting things going on." She said, walking towards the largest ship docked. It was named The Hyperion, and it was gorgeous. It was one he figured was to sail soon, it had been docked for a few weeks.
The hull had been painted a rich navy blue, with the posts and rails a royal gold. The sails were a pristine white, every rope was in the proper place, and the men swarming about it had not a hair out of place. It was perfect in every way, the perfect ship.
He hadn't realized he'd broken into a smile until she commented on it.
"Wow, you're more excited by a ship than a pretty girl." She lamented, unlinking their arms. He hadn't moved as he inspected the ship.
"Want to go?" She asked, poking him in the side again. His jaw dropped as he turned to look at her.
"Can, can we?" He asked in disbelief.
"I told you, I'm the governor's daughter. I can do whatever I want to." She said with a grin. He rolled his eyes again.
"But!" She suddenly shouted, startling him.
"You have to tell me your name!" She finished. He let out a heavy sigh. He didn't care for her to know him, to be able to track him down and bother him further, but oh how he wanted to board that ship.
"Name, or no ship." She said, folding her arms like a petulant child.
"What are you, eight?" He snapped.
"I'm ten actually." She huffed indignantly.
"Fine. My name is Kylo." He said walking towards the ship. She grabbed the sleeve of his shirt and pulled him back.
"Last name too Kylo." She said. He kind of liked the way his name rolled off her tongue. It sounded smooth and elegant.
"Ren." He huffed. She grinned.
"Kylo Ren is a lovely name." She said, before turning to the ship.
"Wait a minute," Kylo called. She turned back to look at him.
"What's your name?" He asked. She laughed.
"You don't know my name already?" She poked him in the stomach. Why did she keep poking him?
"It's (y/n) (l/n). Now come on Kylo, we haven't got all day to sit around talking." She flounced off towards the ship, and Kylo tried his best to follow her closely without being noticed.
She paused by the gangplank, waiting for the traffic up and down it to cease, before she dashed up it with surprising speed. Kylo had to actually run after her before she dragged him down behind a stack of crates near the railing.
"I thought you said you could do what you wanted?" Kylo hissed. She shushed him and nodded.
"Then why are we cowering behind crates?" He asked. She grinned sheepishly.
"Well, technically I'm supposed to be in a meeting with my father now. And they've likely noticed my absence." She said, glancing around. So she was running too? That intrigued him.
"Come on." She said, grabbing his shirt sleeve and dashing across the deck to the open hold and scurrying down the ladder. They were on the gun deck now, and she dragged him behind a cannon as a pair of the royal navy walked past. He turned, examining the cannon next to him. It was a demi cannon, it could probably fire a 15 kilogram solid shot straight through a pirate ship!
As he moved closer to it, (y/n) hissed at him to stop moving. He hadn't realized why until there was a sickening snap, and the demi cannon started rolling backwards into the walkway. He looked down to see he'd knocked the block from behind the wheel of the cannon. He ducked as it swiveled and almost smacked him in the face.
"Kylo!" (y/n) snapped as he scrambled backwards, bumping into the canon on the other side of her and sending that one rolling back too. There was a commotion on the upper deck as people flooded down to the gun deck, catching the cannons as the ship rocked lightly. They hadn't caused any damage, but Kylo knew that they could have, and that was enough to execute someone.
Strong hands grabbed him by the upper arms and dragged him to his feet. (y/n) stood, rushing towards the guards.
"Wait! Stop! Don't hurt him please!" She begged, trying to catch his shirt sleeve. The soldiers paused momentarily, before dragging him to the main deck. He heard the soldiers addressing (y/n) gently while they pulled him up the steps.
He was thrown, quite unceremoniously, before the captain of the ship. He looked up to see a face he recognized, Commodore Whiteford. He lowered his head, trying not to cry. He knew the punishment for stowaways, and it wasn't pretty.
"A stowaway Commodore, he tried to loose the cannons on the gun deck." The soldiers said. Kylo focused on the grain of the wood under his palms, willing it to be a fast execution.
"No! He's not a stowaway!" He heard (y/n) shout.
"Miss (l/n), what are you doing here? Everyone under your father's command is looking for you!" Commodore Whiteford snapped.
"I was exploring! He followed me onto the ship, it's not his fault, don't hurt him." She growled. Well, growled as much as she could. Commodore Whiteford looked at her with pity.
"Miss (l/n), you mustn't run off. Your father is worried sick over you. Come, my son will escort you back." Commodore Whiteford said, whistling shrilly. A lanky boy, older than Kylo, jogged over.
"Jackson, please make sure Miss (l/n) makes it safely back to her father." He said. The boy nodded, stepping forward and grabbing (y/n)'s arm harshly. She winced and let out a whimper. Something about the sound made Kylo's blood boil as he moved to stand up.
"Hey!" He shouted. No sooner than the word left his mouth did Commodore Whiteford have his rapier drawn with the blade pointed at Kylo.
"You will not address my son, street rat!" Whiteford snapped. Kylo cowered slightly before hearing (y/n) shout in pain. He looked over to see Jackson dragging her down the gangplank. She'd tripped and lost a shoe, allowing the splinters from the wooden plank to dig into the sole of her foot.
"You're hurting her!" He shouted. Before he could move he felt a searing pain across his face. He stumbled backwards, landing on his back on the deck. Blood dripped into his right eye, it stung. He lifted a hand to his face, brushing against the shred of fabric from the collar of his shirt. There was blood running down his face and soaking into his shirt from his chest. He couldn't breathe as it smeared across his hands.
"The mark of a stowaway, and treason." Commodore Whiteford snapped. He turned to the rest of the soldiers.
"Bind him, and drag him to the gallows. He is charged with attempting to pirate a ship of the royal navy." He growled. Kylo was too shocked to protest as the soldiers pulled him to his feet, shackling his arms behind his back with heavy iron cuffs.
                                                 ***
"Father!" You shouted, tears streaming down your face as the nurse wrapped your foot with wet linens. Your father was pacing in front of you, his fingers pinching the bridge of his nose. Mum always said he'd get wrinkles if he kept making that face. But she wasn't there to tell him that anymore. He turned to look at you, kneeling down next to you and taking your hands in his own.
"(y/n), my sweet, he's been charged with attempted piracy, there is nothing I can do for him." He said, looking at you sadly.
"He bears the mark of treason. Even if I could pardon him, there would be no life for him." He finished. You pouted and turned away from him.
"It was my fault." You whispered.
"What?"
"It was my fault we were on the Hyperion in the first place!" You shouted in his face.
"Young lady, do not lie to spare the life of a peasant." He snapped at you. You looked at him, your own thin brows furrowed this time.
"I'm not lying! It was my idea, he was trying to leave, but I asked him if he wanted to see the ship! I didn't think there would be any harm, we weren't going to steal it, just look!" You tried to explain frantically.
"Even if that's true darling, he's on the gallows march now. There is nothing to be done." He said softly.
"I will never speak to you again if he dies." You seethed. He let out a hefty sigh, rising to his feet and pacing again.
"You'll get over him my love." He said.
"No I won't! He's my friend!" You shouted again. Despite only spending a few hours with Kylo, he was one of your closest friends, well, friend that wasn't your cousin anyway. You thought of his crooked smile, his lips that looked so soft, and the long dark hair that had whipped around his face in the sea breeze.
"I love him." You pouted. That stopped him dead in his tracks, and you knew you'd found your in.
"You what?"
"I love him father! And if you let him die I shall never speak to you again! I'll follow mama to my grave and never speak another word to you!" You cried, willing the tears to fall again. You didn't realize it, but as the tears fell, your true feelings for the scrappy boy you'd lured onto the ship were spoken aloud.
Your father seemed taken aback as he watched you cry. The nurse had long since left the room, and he hissed lowly.
"My daughter will not fall in love with a peasant boy." You hoped you hadn't pushed him too far, this was Kylo's only chance.
"If I pardon him, you will never see him again, do you understand?" He snapped. You nodded frantically and he crossed the room, grabbing you by your arms and hauling you to your feet. You yelped as you put weight on your injured foot.
"Do you understand!" He yelled.
"Yes! Yes father, I understand." You cried in fear. He let you sit back in the chair, sweeping out of the room towards the stables. You followed him as quickly as you could on your injured foot.
When you caught up with the gallows march you easily spotted Kylo. He was the only child in the mix of adults. His shirt was ragged and his wrists bled from the iron cuffs. You had to resist the urge to gasp as you followed your father's white stallion on your small dappled gelding.
"General, wait." Your father called as he pulled his horse to a halt. You kept your gaze trained on Kylo as he looked up, and your heart sank.
His beautiful face was now split by a long red scar that started above his eyebrow, and ended below his collarbone. There was blood smeared across his face and chest, soaking into his shirt. There were tracks streaked into the blood where his tears had cut a path through the redness. You resisted the urge to leap from your horse and run to him.
The general approached Kylo with the ring of keys, unlatching the shackles from around his wrists and ankles. Kylo hesitated, shaking slightly before your father rode towards him. Kylo balked slightly as the stallion stopped just short of running him down.
"You are never to see my daughter again. Do you understand me?" He hissed. Kylo nodded frantically, stepping backwards. Your father kicked his horse harshly, causing the stallion to rear slightly as it screamed.
"Go!" He yelled. Kylo scrambled backwards, falling onto his back and pushing himself away from the horses hooves as it landed again. He rolled over, pushing himself to his feet and running away from the gallows march, through the crowd, and out of your sight.

hello and good day! i would like a matchup for a3! and ikerev, please! she/her pronouns. you can call me juice, though! hm i think a good description of me personality wise would be im usually cheerful, friendly, childish but i tend to hide a lot of my negative feelings and overthink quite a lot. towards others i'm always curious about the littlest details of someone's hobbies or interest and sometimes i talk more than i listen. love literature and things like fashion or games (1)
Hello, thanks for requesting juice! Sorry for the long wait but I hope you enjoy it! I was pretty excited to write a match up for a3! since it’s been living rent free in my head for the last few weeks. I got a little carried away with the last prompt cause it was so fun to write, but I hope you like it! Also, the ikerev one might take some time but I’ll try to not take too long. Have fun!
I match you with
Tsuzuru!
Tumblr media
The two of you first meet after you watch one of their plays, “A Clockwork Heart.” When you realize that the lead and writer is a classmate of yours from college you can’t help but approach him a few days later to discuss the play further.
He seems self conscious at first but quickly opens up as the two of you discuss his script and before you know it one conversation has turned into an in-depth discussion over lunch.
After that first encounter, both of you start talking more often, quickly growing closer. Tsuzuru appreciates your cheerful attitude, making it easy for him to be comfortable around you.
Considering your love for literature, you often help him brainstorm for new ideas, always looking forward to seeing how he brings it to life on stage.
It is easy for you to fit in with the rest of the boys from Mankai, despite their constant prying on your relationship with Tsuzuru. After all the time the two of you spend together, it is no surprise when none of the boys (except Azami) bat an eyelash when you make it official, after a lot of back and forth between friendship and romance.
Prompt: Bonding
“The reason S was created in the first place was because Luke needed a companion. It’s tragic that he was the one who left him in the end.”
“Well, yes, but he also taught him to open up to people, insuring that he wouldn’t be alone when he was gone.”
You and Tsuzuru had been discussing the end of his latest play “A Clockwork Heart” for a while, arguing over whether or not the ending was tragic. When you approached him to offer your praise for his work earlier that day you hadn’t been expecting him to engage in your opinions on a play he wrote, but he was actually deeply invested in the conversation, despite the matter at hand being trivial to the actual substance of the story.
“He couldn’t have known though. He also put his own wishes aside to protect him. That alone makes the ending tragic.” You vividly remembered the tears you had shed when the show reached its climax, a result of both his script and his acting.
“It depends on your idea of what the ending was. S was a machine, so as long as Luke was alive they could meet again, when it was safe for the both of them. That makes the ending-“
Ring Ring
You almost chucked at the generic sound his phone made as it vibrated.
“Give me a sec.” he moved away from the bench before answering. It wasn’t long before he returned, a flush expression on his face.
“Sorry, I didn’t realize I had kept you for so long. I actually need to get going.” He ran a hand through his hair, smiling shyly. It was only then that you noticed what time it was.
“I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to bother you for that long!” Now you were both flushed, the realization dawning on you that you had spent two hours talking.
“I-it’s fine. Um, we can continue this tomorrow, if you’d like?” you were surprised he actually wanted to talk again, a smile spreading over your face.
“Definitely. “
“Okay. See you then!” he waved as he ran off while simultaneously trying to dial someone, resulting in him almost falling on his face. You looked forward to tomorrow.
After that first encounter, you continued to meet during lunch to talk about other works, quickly realizing you had a similar taste in books and movies. It was an easy transition, going from acquaintances to friends.
“How’s the summer troupe’s play coming along?” It was easy to tell that he had been losing sleep again from the – almost – comical black circle under his eyes, but you asked anyway, hoping that you could offer some help.
“I know what I want to write, the words are just refusing to form and settle themselves on the page.” The frustration was evident on his face as he tried to put the pieces flying around his head in order. You tried to think of a way to help him but you knew that he needed to figure this out on his own.
“Come on.” You forcefully pulled him out of his chair, carefully shutting his laptop.
“W-wait. Where are we going?” you pushed him along, despite his protesting.
“Trust me.” You flashed him your biggest smile before setting of, only mildly aware that your hand was still around his wrist.
“The movies?” he seemed confused over what your objective was but you were confident it would help him out of his slump.
“Yes. Come on, I’ll even get us popcorn!” you were beaming as you led him inside.
“What are we watching?” Tsuzuru, finally resigned to his fate, flipped through the leaflet, looking at the moves currently playing.
“Your choice, I’m fine with whatever.” You hurried to the bar to pick up snacks, leaving him at the ticket booth.
“Look at those effects.”
“The acting is top notch.”
Tsuzuru had been so immersed in the movie he seemed to have forgotten all about his tiredness. When you exited the theatre you could practically see the gears turning in his head.”
“It’s a very different take on pirates than the summer troupe’s play, but if I exaggerate the characters even more then there would be great opportunity for comedy.” You couldn’t help the laugh that escaped you as you observed him, completely lost in his own mind.
“So I take it the creative juices are flowing again?” he looked back at you, as if seeing you clearly for the first time in days.
“Yes! Thank you!” He put his arms around you, too far lost in his excitement to feel any awkwardness.
“I-I have to go write! I’ll see you tomorrow.” He continued shouting thank you over his shoulder as he run off with newfound energy. You expected you wouldn’t see him the next day, considering he’d probably be passed out by then, but you smiled anyway.
“See you later!”
Prompt : Cinderella:
“So, you’re thinking of doing Cinderella for the next play?” You and Tsuzuru were hanging out in his room, taking full advantage of Masumi’s absence that weekend.
“Yeah… I’m not sure how to go about it though. Everyone in the Spring Troupe agreed that I should be lead this time around but I just don’t see myself in the shoes of a prince… Itaru would probably be a better fit for the role.” You couldn’t help throwing a pillow his way.
“Hey! What was that for?” You sat up a little straighter, tempted to glare at him until he picked up on your annoyance.
“I can definitely picture you in the role of the prince.” You cleared your throat before switching to your best narrator voice.
A long, long time ago there lived a boy and a girl. They were the best of friends when they were children. The boy would often sneak out to meet with her and they would play for hours. But their happiness would not last long.
You see, the girl grew up to be the maid of one of the less-fortunate royal families in the kingdom. She had been forced into that position by her father’s latest wedding. It would also turn out to be his last, for he died a few years later, leaving her in the care of a wicked stepmother.
One the other hand, the boy grew up to be the most charming prince in the land. The women fawned over him and he always had everything his heart could desire.”
“I’m literally none of those things.”
“Fine then.”
The prince was an idiot who didn’t know how to take care of himself and never asked for help. He constantly worried his friends over his health but they loved him anyway.
“That’s not any better…”
“Shh, let me continue the story.”
Their difference in class ripped the two friends apart, putting an end to their relationship. While they weren’t allowed to meet again, they promised to never forget about each other. To keep that promise, the made matching bracelets and agreed to never take them off until they could meet again.
“Friendship bracelets? Who does that?”
“They were kids! Would you have preferred rings?”
“Wouldn’t those basically be promise rings?”
“I’m coming up with this on the spot, give me a break!”
That bracelet was what gave the girl the strength to continue living, despite her struggles.
When news of a ball arrived at the estate, her step-sisters were quick to start preparations, eager to have a chance at the prince’s hand in marriage. The girl was simply happy at the prospect of seeing her friend again.
When her family found out she was planning to attend the ball, they locked her in the cellar, not willing to risk any competition. The girl wept and wept, until suddenly a kind seeming lady appeared in front of her.
“Isn’t this just the movie?”
“Give it a second!”
The lady promised she would help her get to the ball if that was what she wished. Despite her suspicions, the girl earnestly declared that all she wanted was to see her friend again. And so the kind woman flicked her wrist and the rags the girl had been wearing were replace by a rich ball gown, paired with a glass slippers. The girl thanked her again and again before heading off in search of her lost friend.
“She doesn’t warn her about the time limit?”
“There’s no curfew here, it’s a stupid conflict anyway.”
You couldn’t contain the excitement and adrenaline that flowed through you as you went up the steps of the grand palace. You hadn’t been here since you were a child, when the king’s father still allowed you to visit, and childhood memories flooded your mind. It was difficult to keep your nerves at a reasonable level as you approached the guards at the front gate. By the time you had arrived at the palace, most of the guests were already inside, so you were completely alone when you handed the invitation, hoping the witch had done her work well.
“Enjoy your evening.” They smiled before urging you to step inside. A sense of awe filled you as you walked through the somewhat familiar halls, remembering all the places you and Tsuzuru would hide from the servants, before his title meant anything to you.
You weren’t sure you remembered the way to the main hall, so you followed the noise, hoping you could make your way there.
When you finally stood outside what seemed to be the entrance, you took a few deep breaths before walking forward, determined to see your friend again. When you stepped though the door you quickly realized that the door wasn’t the room’s main entrance, but the top of the grand staircase. Dread filled you as everyone’s eyes fell on you. If it wasn’t for the railing you thought you have fainted right then and there. You breathed in, allowing you hand to wrap around the bracelet the two of you had made so long ago, letting the warm feelings it carried spread through you.
You bowed once before making your way down the stairs, hoping you wouldn’t trip on your dress and make a fool of yourself before the night even started.
The moment you were off the last step, your eyes fell on your step-mother, eyeing you with absolute envy and disgust. You hoped the mask would be enough to conceal your identity.
You walked around the room for a bit, keeping to the less populated areas, hoping to catch a glimpse of Tsuzuru, disappointed to find that he was nowhere to be found.
“Please let this not be for nothing…”
You were about to make your way to the balcony, but a swarm of guests was suddenly in your path, dancing to the waltz the band had just started playing. You frantically looked around, searching for a way out when two arms wrapped around you, pulling you along with the rest of the dancers.
“I guess you’re my partner?” the face of the man that stood before you made your jaw drop. You had thought of so many things to say, but now that Tsuzuru was standing before you, the words seemed to catch in your throat.
“So, uh, are you having fun?” he was as awkward as you remembered. Something about the familiarity filled you with a sense of calm. I found him.
“I am now.” It was hard to contain the smile quickly spreading around your face.
“Actually I was-“that was when it was time to switch partners. When you felt his hand slip from yours, panic flooded through you. No… I didn’t have the chance to tell him.
As he pulled his hand away, his fingers brushed the bracelet on your wrist, eyes widening as he was whisked away by another partygoer, realization evident in his features. You tried to get closer, but were quickly taken away by another guest. Your eyes landed on Tsuzuru a few times but the hall was too crowded. It was almost suffocating. You took the first chance to slip out on the balcony, eager to get away from the crowds.
You stood at the railing, letting the air cool down your heated face. He had seen you, but you weren’t sure he would care enough to search. Negative thoughts occupied your mind as you gazed at the land beyond. Maybe this was foolish… He probably barely remembers me… He’s a prince after all. He was more important matter to attend to than a peasant he used to spend his free time with. You felt tears gathering at the corners of your eyes, your own loneliness catching up with you.
“Please don’t cry!” You were shocked to find Tsuzuru standing a few feet away from you, his face flushed and his knees bent. He must’ve been running.
“You’re the girl from back then, aren’t you?” he glanced down at your wrist, pulling up his own sleeve to reveal a bracelet identical to yours.
“Y-you kept it.” Your voice cracked, barely audible in the midst of the ongoing celebrations.
“Of course I did! It meant a lot to me.” The words seemed to call to something inside you and so you let the tears fall.
“W-what did I do? Please don’t cry!” he took a step closer, still unsure of what boundaries existed between you.
“I-I can’t help it. I’m just so happy!” you wrapped your arms around him, not caring who saw you. All that mattered in that moment was that the two of you were reunited at last.
“I missed you.” You couldn’t see his face, but you could tell he was crying too, by the way his heart beat against your, the way his hands shook, still wrapped around you in a tight embrace. Year’s worth of loneliness and regret spilled out of the both of you in a single moment.
You stayed like that for quite some time, allowing the relief to wash over you. When you looked at each other again, you couldn’t help but laugh at your state. You knew the scene must look ridiculous to any outside spectators, but none of them mattered. It felt like you were alone in the world, no barriers between you. Your class didn’t matter. You were just a boy and a girl who had been reunited.
“ The king was skeptical at first, knowing a commoner queen wouldn’t create any new alliances, but he could see the love his son had for the girl. And so they married. It’s said that the pair practically run down the stairs of the palace after their wedding, eager to get to their honeymoon, their laughter echoing through the streets.”
“That’s an ending befitting a prince Muku reads about in manga… I still don’t see where I fit into this… ”
“Fine. As they descended the staircase, the prince fell on his ass, causing even more laughter from the girl. A moment she would never let him forget.” You couldn’t help but laugh at the earnest look on Tsuzuru’s face. He may be clumsy, but he has always been kind.
“It will need a lot modifications, especially considering the fact that none of us can exactly pull off female roles, but it could work.” At some point through the story Tsuzuru seemed to have pulled out a notebook, in which he was now scribbling away.
“Are you seriously taking notes?” he was still focused on the story, not letting the inspiration go to waste.
“Of course I am. You’re brilliant!” he pulled you in for a kiss, taking you completely by surprise.
“You’re the best.” He turned back to his note taking, leaving you with flushed cheeks and a bright smile.
“You too.”
And they lived happily ever after.

MYTHICAL CREATURE 3
Marco x Reader
Genre : Fluff
Art is not mine credits to the rightful owner.
Tumblr media
They just greet and welcome y/n. Y/n just thanked them. Marco was the last one to welcome y/n. As soon he walk towards you. He can feel everybody's gaze on his back.
" Welcome to our loud chaotic family, y/n, yoi" Marco said with a smile.
Y/n just blush, as it was her first time to hear him call her name.
"Thank you" y/n replied and Thatch couldn't miss the opportunity to butt in.
"Are you blushing, y/n-chan?!"
Marco just roll his eyes at how much of a gossiper his siblings is, when it comes to love life. Well he can't blame them as he did the same thing to Oden and Toki. Well they did the same thing as he did.
"Oh, I was just surprised" y/n stutter said as she touch her face. It was warm, she is indeed blushing.
Thatch just suggestive wiggle his eyebrows at Marco. The other soon joined him, doing the same gesture.
Marco just glare at them, before smacking there heads and the rumble of the siblings begin. They both share the same blow, others cheer and bet who will win.
Y/n just asked 'what's going on' Whitebeard just chuckled at how immature they can be, but he love seeing them like this.
Timeskip 5 years later
It's been a 5 years, since the day y/n joined the Whitebeard pirates. She always remember the faithful meet she had with Marco. She didn't regret her decision as she found a very supportive family.
When she talked about her dream to meet every each Mythical Creatures she had met. They all support her to it. The adventure to the sea with them was never been boring, it was full of excitement. Y/n was best pals with Marco, as for the others they blame marco for being a bad influence to y/n and y/n could fully heartily laughed at what they say about marco.
Marco and y/n understand each other, through the years they spend, They have notice the similarities of each other. They will always have there own private talk at night together. Marco will always asked how is her day and she will asked the same thing.
The Whole crew know, how sneaky the two are. Y/n mostly tease Marco when there only alone. She will keep asking him about the reason, he stay in her boat as a phoenix. Marco will only frown when she asked as he learn she love to rub salt to his past wound, Marco will only tease her back only to backfired. And both of them are embarrassed and promised to keep it a secret together.
After getting embarrassed the two soon talk about something they find interesting that Marco sometimes joke and y/n laugh. Thatch, Izo and along with jozu, vista and haruta were only spying at marco and y/n. Whitebeard only scold them for spying there brother and there sister. but soon join them.
"Just when will Marco, will tell y/n" Whitebeard asked to his sons.
They only shrugged there shoulder and still watching and listening to whatever marco and y/n talking about.
Whitebeard again asked them again and they only said "Shh" to there Dad who just frown. Whitebeard just thought of leaving when he got cramps making him groan loud. It was loud enough for the two to hear him.
"What the! Are you serious yoi!?" Marco asked angrily as he know that they were spying on them.
Y/n just blushed as she experienced them teasing her to no end. When she was hug by Marco the time she was away for a month. Well she was hug by all of her family member. It's just they tease her and Marco when they are seen together.
Marco just angrily March towards the noise come from. And Thatch, Izo, Jozu, Vista and haruta just hide. While Whitebeard have no choice but to stay there as he have a terrible cramps.
"Oyaji! What are you doing?!" Marco unamused said.
Y/n just follow Marco and surprised to see. There Dad was spying them.
She only give Whitebeard a face of displeasure. Marco just scold him while y/n notice the other tip toeing but y/n shouted said "And where do you think you guys going?"
The five shadow flinch and Marco just name them. "Thatch, Vista, Jozu, Haruta, and Izo come out already" They only did and tried to act dumb.
Thatch just tried spoke with a feminine voice. "Ahahaha, There is no Thatch here, it's me Whitey~"
It was pretty obvious that it was him. Only an idiot will believe that kind of lie. Izo was only embarrassed as he was too curious that's why he tag along with them. Marco was disappointed to see Izo with them.
Marco just scold them, Y/n leave the scolding to marco, when it's them. They only apologize for spying them.
"We promise not to do it"
"Let me and the others do the seppuku as my apology for intruding your two privacy" Izo said while there in there knees and low his head at Marco, y/n.
but when he said that y/n just panic.
"What!? no! Izo!" y/n said. Marco just smack his head.
"Stop it, Idiot!" Marco said to Izo.
The other that is present that time only just shut there mouth as they can see, Izo wasn't kidding about it. They only gulp in terror.
Y/n just scold him for scaring her like that. Marco just sigh as he have a stressful night. Because of his siblings.
Thatch, Vista, Jozu and Haruta just curse there dad in the back cause he was only scolded and he returned to his room. While they were punished to kneel down overnight as an apology. Izo, Of course accepted it. They couldn't leave nor stand up as they were threatened by Izo either they stay or they all Commit Seppuku.
The next morning, The other member just Question why there are sleeping outside and kneeling down.
Marco and y/n were only greeted by the sight of the five. Y/n feel guilty while marco hope they learn there lesson.
One week passed,Thatch just implanted an idea inside y/n head.
He just asked what does y/n think about marco.
"You know, Marco is always kind"
"Well yeah he is, but notice this
y/n-chan, he is extra kind only to you" Thatch point it out. Y/n just thought one of the reasons 'why' Thatch just whisper in her ear in a low voice.
"Marco have a crush on you" Thatch keep on whispering while y/n is focused when she hear him. She couldn't help but blushed.
"Thatch!!!"
Thatch just look at her, like he didn't do anything "What?"
"Stop whispering something like that"
Thatch just laugh at how adorable y/n is but he wasn't sorry. At the same time Marco was doing check up on Whitebeard. When he asked Marco the same thing.
Marco just sigh as he answered "If your asking me, if I like y/n? I do"
Whitebeard were delighted to hear it. So he asked what's preventing him to confess. He tried to say something reasonable. Only he sigh and felt embarrassed.
"I'm trying to, okay! I'm just waiting for a good timing...yoi"
Whitebeard just laughed at the flustered look Marco had.
"Your not a teenager boy, Your already 30, Same as her... Man up"
Marco just frown but his dad have a point. "I know that... Yoi"
"Marco, you should do it sooner, before someone confess first" Whitebeard said.
"shit" Marco said to himself. Well he can't blame them, You were such a natural charmer, they might be blind if you couldn't charm them. But sorry for them cause he decided to make a move.
Tonight as usual, Marco and y/n met for some other reasons. The two had an awkward atmosphere. Well y/n suddenly remembered what Thatch whisper to her ear. Marco just thought of confessing his feelings.
It took a 5 minutes before Marco finally decided to break the awkward silence they both had.
"Were having a lovely night yoi" Marco said and y/n just look at him for a second and look away soon. Though she just agreed to it.
She didn't look at him anymore. She was looking somewhere else.
"What's wrong with you, yoi?" Marco asked with a hint of concerned.
"Oh, umm, nothing just have an odd day" y/n replied still avoiding his gaze.
For some reasons what thatch said to her that time keep on repeating inside her head. Y/n doesn't like to assume. So she shakes her head trying to focus.
"The moon is beautiful isn't it?" y/n said. Marco then sudden smirk.
Looking at y/n admiring the moon.
"Did you just said, I love you to me, yoi" Marco said with a smirk in his face.
"Yeah... I mean, wha?!" y/n replied but soon becomes a stuttering mess after it finally sink to her mind.
"Well I love you too, y/n" Marco bashfully replied. Y/n then look at him. The smirk he wear a while ago just melt and she can see the red tint in his face.
"Really?" Y/n said, but she know that it was sincere but couldn't help to tease him. Marco just frown.
Why do you inherit this habit from the others. But he got an idea to make it fair.
Y/n is still teasing him, She were still asking him even she know it already.
"really? Really?"
Marco just thought a great revenge so he just scoot down and stare her directly in the eye. Inch slowly, y/n wasn't ready for it. But she close her eyes but she only felt Marco lips on her cheek.
He just stick out his tongue when she open her eyes." Sorry, Were you expecting me to kiss you in the lips,
y/n,yoi"
Marco swear he never seen so flustered y/n is. As he hum for victory. Y/n just covered her face with her hand.

Destiny- Duke Crocker Imagine (Haven)
Tumblr media
Title: Destiny
Pairing: Duke Crocker X Reader
Requested: Nope... but please send in requests for this series
Word Count: 3,555 words
Warning(s): MAJOR SPOILERS FOR HAVEN IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT YET, major character death and some heavy angst
Summary: (Set in season 5) (Y/n) had loved Duke for years. They had been through everything together. But Duke fulfilling his so-called destiny may be the end of the line for them... in more ways than one.
Author’s Note: Hi... I binged Haven with my dad recently and I have yet to shut up about how upset I was about Duke’s fate at the end of the show
-----------------------------------------------
I was close to fainting when I reached the police station. Not only had I been running for who knows how long, but I was also crying my eyes out. I was scared and sad and confused.
“(Y/n),” Audrey very quickly pulled me into a hug. I basically dug my nails into her skin as I sobbed. “Shh, shh, you’re going to pass out. Please stop.”
“Duke, he’s-”
“I know, I know,” she mumbled, rubbing my back up and down. “Nathan, water, now.”
Audrey guided me to one of the chairs and handed me some water. I drank some but I was still crying. Audrey kept a hand on my back, trying to comfort me.
“It’s not him anymore,” I said softly. I was staring at the floor. “That’s not Duke. Not really. I know Duke. I loved Duke. That man running around right now is not the man I loved.”
“I know,” Audrey leaned her head against mine. “I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry.”
I kept to myself as they spoke about getting a plan together. I didn’t have any ideas and I definitely wasn’t going to say anything useful in the state I was in. My leg was bouncing as I chewed on my thumbnail.
“(Y/n), come on,” Audrey picked me up so I could walk with them. I was kind of shoved into a room right before a wall seemed to come up in front of us. Nathan and Audrey had their guns drawn.
“Duke got in, didn’t he,” I asked.
“Yeah,” Nathan mumbled. I looked down.
“I could help him,” I suggested. Audrey gave me a look of shock before shaking her head. “That isn’t Duke but he’s got to be there, right?”
“(Y/n), no, it’s too dangerous,” Nathan snapped. “We aren’t losing another person.”
I glared at him. I had finally come up with this idea. Something that might work... and I was being shut down.
“How’s it going, Vickie,” Nathan asked, now completely ignoring me.
“Almost there,” Vickie said, not looking over her shoulder.
“Hurry, Laverne may have been able to move this wall to hide us but Duke won’t be fooled for long,” Audrey added.
“Or fooled at all,” I mumbled. “He knows this place like the back of his hand.”
“Poor kid,” Gloria looked over at me, sympathy obvious once she saw my face. I sent her a pained grin.
“Finished,” Vickie put down her pencil.
“Good,” Audrey put her gun away as she walked over. “So, once you fold the paper, the core should just fuse back together, right?”
Right as Vickie nodded, Duke walked through the wall that Laverne had put up. Nathan quickly put his gun up, keeping us all behind him.
“Nathan,” Duke said.
“Duke,” Nathan replied. Duke slowly moved to walk around him. “Stop! Don’t make me shoot! Duke!”
“Duke, stop,” I added, getting a quick glare from him before turning to look at Nathan again.
“Go,” Nathan called over his shoulder.
The others ran out but I stopped for a second. Nathan gave me another glance and I finally followed the others through the halls. I heard a thud behind me and had to fight my urge to look back.
“Laverne, slow him down,” Audrey said as we moved. Again, I didn’t turn around as I heard the sounds of things moving.
Vickie fell as Duke pushed through the obstacles. Gloria helped her up quickly, guarding her with her own body.
“Duke, please, this isn’t you,” Gloria begged.
“Oh, this is me, just with some improvements,” Duke smirked. Audrey grabbed my arm as I went to step forward.
“The Duke I know would stand up to bullies like Croatoan,” Gloria argued. “You don’t want to hurt Vickie.”
“I should’ve killed you when you were a statue,” Duke said.
That’s when Nathan hit him in the back of the head with his baton.
“Go,” Nathan shouted. “The Aether core?”
“Got it,” Audrey said.
“No,” Duke shouted, tilting his head up. “You don’t.”
Duke slowly stood up, Vickie’s drawing in his hand. My breath caught in my throat as I frantically reached for Audrey’s hand.
“No,” Nathan basically whispered.
“Duke, please don’t,” I begged. He only glanced at me for a second before ripping the paper apart, destroying the Aether core.
“I always liked your trouble, Vickie,” Duke said. “I can’t wait to try it out.”
Duke took his knife and slid it across his palm. His eyes turned pure black as he moved. Audrey and Nathan stepped forward. Duke only smirked at them. I bit the inside of my cheek as I stepped forward with them. His head tilted as he stared at me. I looked at him with sympathy. This wasn’t what he wanted.
“What are you gonna do,” he asked, stepping towards me. I copied him, slapping Nathan’s hand as he tried to pull me backward.
“I won’t fight you,” I said. “Mostly because I don’t think you could hurt me, even if you wanted to.”
“Are you sure about that,” he asked. Duke moved forward with his knife ready to attack but I grabbed his wrist. “Well, that’s cheating.”
“This isn’t you,” I shook my head, pushing his arm down, still holding his wrist.
“It’s the new me,” he shrugged. “I offered you everything. You ran to these people.”
“I remember talking about this with you,” I continued. “You ‘destiny’. You tried to push me away out of fear because you were scared. But I didn’t let you. I told I’d be there. You made me promise one thing.”
“Let go of my wrist, I have a job to do,” he replied.
“You made me promise to pull you back if you ever tried to hurt anyone,” I ignored his comment. “Because you didn’t want to be a monster. You wanted to choose your own fate.”
“Just shut up.”
I sighed.
“I love you,” I mumbled, letting go of his wrist so I could hug him tightly.
I knew it was dangerous. He still had a knife. He had every chance to literally stab me in the back. My heart stopped when I heard the knife hit the ground and felt Duke hug me back. Slowly, I moved back, just enough to look at his face.
“I love you too,” he smiled.
“So... what’s your fate,” I asked.
“I think I’m gonna stick with being a pirate,” he grinned at me. I chuckled through the happy tears that were building in my eyes. Carefully, he leaned in and kissed me softly.
I pulled away a few moments later, not opening my eyes until Duke stopped resting his forehead on mine. I wiped my eyes quickly before wrapping my arms around his torso and moving to the side, basically cuddling him. He wrapped an arm around me.
“Hey,” he said to everyone.
“Good to have you back, kiddo,” Gloria replied.
“Glad to be back,” he nodded, looking at me again.
“I knew you could beat him,” Nathan said.
“Yeah, not soon enough,” Duke sighed. I moved back a little to look at Duke fully, now only grabbing his hand.
“We have to make sure that Croatoan doesn’t find out about you,” Audrey said. “Is there any way you could use your phasing trouble to get out of town?”
“I’m not going anywhere,” Duke shook his head. I squeezed his hand lightly. “I’m going to kill Croatoan.”
“No,” I snapped. “No way. You are not going anywhere near him. Not again.”
“The things that he made me do,” Duke tried to explain. “The people I killed, the friends I hurt, what I did to Nathan and Audrey, trying to split them up. I almost killed you.”
“But you didn’t.”
“He wants Audrey and Nathan to be split up,” he looked at the two of them. “He knows that you’re stronger together. You guys need to let me help. I need to make things right.”
“You will,” Audrey insisted. “I promise. But we have to be careful. If Croatoan gets a hold of one of your troubles...”
Audrey didn’t get to finish her sentence before Duke started groaning in pain. He dropped my hand and walked a few paces away.
“What’s wrong,” I asked softly.
“He knows,” Duke said. “Croatoan knows. He’s taking them. I can’t stop him.”
Something was pulled out of his eye and out through the doors of the police station. I placed a hand over my mouth.
“What can we do,” Audrey asked. Another trouble was pulled out of Duke. “There’s gotta be something that we can do.”
“There is,” Duke said softly, turning to face us. There was a moment of silence. “You have to kill me... now.”
“No,” I snapped instantly. “No way in hell.”
“(Y/n),” he sighed. I stepped forward and he cupped the sides of my face. “This is for the good of all of Haven. You need to kill me before he takes anymore.”
“No,” my voice had dropped significantly. “There has to be another way.”
“(Y/n)’s right,” Nathan added. “There has to be another way.”
“There isn’t,” Duke shook his head, letting go of my face and looked at the others.
“Duke...,” Audrey trailed off.
“Whenever a Crocker has died, the Troubles stayed with him,” Duke insisted. “If I’m dead, Croatoan has no way of collecting them.”
“No, Duke,” Nathan shook his head. “I can’t, Duke.”
“Yes, you can,” Duke said. “You can to save Haven. You can to save Audrey.”
“I can’t lose you again,” I whispered. Duke looked back at me. “I can’t do that again. Please. I don’t want another goodbye. Please. We can find another way.”
“We don’t have enough time,” his hands grabbed mine. “We have to protect the town. I need to protect you. You would do the same thing if it were you.”
I closed my eyes. I knew that was true but I didn’t want to admit that. It hurt too much to admit that.
“I still won’t do it,” Nathan shook his head.
“Look, I’d do it myself,” Duke explained. “I’d go up and throw myself off the roof or something but if I break open or bleed out all of my Troubles, then I die for nothing.”
I let out a shaky breath before hugging him. I hid my face in his chest as I cried. His lips touched the top of my head softly. I wanted everything to stop for a second. For time to freeze so I didn’t have to face reality.
“Croatoan took everything from me,” Duke said after a few seconds, stepping back slightly. “I have to take something back... I have to choose my destiny. I have to show Croatoan that Duke Crocker is nobody’s bitch.”
He stepped around me so he could step closer to Nathan and Audrey.
“So please,” he continued. “Please. Please! Gloria?”
“I’m sorry, Duke, no,” she shook her head.
Another trouble moved out of Duke.
“Do you see that,” he suddenly shouted. “Who knows which one that was? You have no idea what terrible troubles I’ve taken inside of me! And if I let Croatoan get them, he wins! That’s not my destiny. That’s not me.”
“No,” Audrey shook her head.
“Nathan, please,” he pleaded. “I can’t do it myself. There’s no time.”
“I know,” Nathan said. “Everything’s gonna be alright.”
“Wait,” I managed to say.
“(Y/n),” Duke sighed before I leaned up and kissed him again.
I held onto the collar of his jacket until my knuckles turned white. He wrapped his arms around me as tight as possible. I could feel the chapter ending and I was fighting it with every ounce of my being. Slowly, I pulled back, tears running down my face again. I felt Duke try to wipe them away.
“I love you,” I whispered, letting my grip on his jacket loosen.
“I love you too,” he mumbled. “Always have and always will.”
I nodded before letting my grip slip entirely. Nathan jumped forward and grabbed Duke, one hand over his mouth and the other arm wrapped around his throat. Gloria blocked Vickie from the sight but Audrey and I both rushed to one of Duke’s sides.
“Hey,” Audrey said. I grabbed Duke’s hand, moving it up so I could kiss his knuckles. “Duke, it’s gonna be okay, all right? We love you.”
“You’re the bravest man I’ve ever met, Duke Crocker,” Nathan mumbled. “Always have been. So much we’ve done together. So much we could’ve never done without you. I owe you so much. I will spend the rest of my life, trying to repay that debt.”
“I love you,” I whispered again. Duke locked eyes with me. “You are the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
I watched as the life drained from his eyes until they closed. I closed my eyes after that. Nathan finally stopped, getting up and moving Duke so he was actually laying on the table. I pulled a chair up, sitting next to his body. I didn’t even notice Dwight or Vince walk in until Dwight placed a hand on my shoulder.
“I’m so sorry,” Vince said. “What Duke became wasn’t who he was.”
“No,” Audrey added. “And in the end, it’s what saved us.”
“Maybe all of Haven,” Dwight continued. “It stopped Croatoan from getting his troubles.”
They continued discussing the Aether core and the plan but I tuned them out. I was staring at Duke’s face. It’s like I expected him to wake up. Like he was just sleeping and I’d get to see him smile again and joke about how creepy it was for me to watch him sleep.
“Audrey,” I spoke up, interrupting them all. “I know he’s your father, but will you do me a favor?”
“What?”
“Kick his sorry ass into the next dimension,” I replied.
“Okay,” she whispered.
“Dwight, maybe you could help me move him to the truck,” Gloria said. “We’ll put him on ice until we can give him a proper burial. At sea. He would’ve liked that.”
“Like a true pirate,” I mumbled with a sad grin. “He would’ve loved that idea.”
We all sat in a sad silence for a few minutes. No one knew what to actually say. I let out a sigh before standing up, laying a kiss on his forehead, and then stepping back completely. I let Audrey hug me tightly as Dwight and Gloria took care of Duke’s body.
“What do I do now,” I asked.
“You keep going,” she whispered. “Duke would want you to keep going. Do something that you wanted to do.”
I nodded, hiding my face in her shoulder.
“I have an idea,” I mumbled. “But we have to beat Croatoan first.”
**About a Year Later**
I let out a breath as I placed my hands on my hips. For probably the first time in a year, I was proud of something.
After defeating Croatoan, I had dedicated all my time and energy to rebuilding the Grey Gull. I thought it was the best way to carry on his legacy. I smiled at what represented over a year of hard work and dedication.
I blinked away a few tears and walked to one of the tables, picking up the photos that I had gotten framed a little while ago.
One was of Duke and me. I think Audrey had taken the picture for us. I had jumped onto his back, essentially scaring the crap out of him. It always made me happy. Both of us laughing and being in our own little world.
“I wish you could’ve seen this all,” I whispered. “I love you.”
The second one was the whole crew. Duke, me, Audrey, Nathan, and Dwight. We were all smiling and just happy. It was one of the rare times where we weren’t worried about everything. I loved all of it.
I set them back on the table and looked at the walls, wondering where to put them.
“(Y/n),” I look over to see Dwight walking in the door. I waved at him. “The place looks amazing.”
“I wanted to make something that Duke would’ve been proud of,” I replied.
“He would’ve loved it,” Dwight promised, giving me a side hug. I bit my lip, looking down with tears in my eyes. “Hey, hey, hey. It’s alright.”
“I just... still miss him,” I said. “I just wish he could see it.”
“He’s watching, I promise,” he replied before stepping away from me. “I need to tell you something.”
“What’s up,” I asked, wiping my eyes.
“I saw Duke... after he died,” he said. I furrowed my eyebrows. “And I don’t mean his dead body. It was some kind of spirit.”
“Seriously?”
“Yeah,” Dwight nodded. “He asked for a favor or two. One of them was to tell you that he loves and misses you and hopes that you have an amazing future... the other was that he had something on the boat. He was saying that he hid it in his underwear drawer... which was terrifying to go through. I found this.”
He handed me a little box. My breath caught in my throat. I slowly opened the lid and choked on my spit. A ring. A fucking ring.
“Is this real,” I asked softly. He nodded.
“He thought you’d question it so I was told to ask you to look inside the ring,” Dwight shrugged.
I nodded and picked up the ring. I smiled and placed a hand over my mouth as I read it. It was real, definitely real.
“What does it say,” Dwight asked.
“It’s the year we met,” I mumbled. “In Roman numerals... which I had to teach him in high school because he didn’t understand them. This is an engagement ring, right?”
“That’s what he said,” he nodded. I slid the ring onto my left ring finger with a smile.
“God, I miss him,” I said, staring at the ring. Dwight hugged me again. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” he replied.
“Go spend the day with your daughter,” I patted Dwight on the chest and took a step back. “I have some last-minute stuff to do before the grand opening tomorrow.”
“Good luck,” he nodded.
Dwight walked out the door and left me on my own. I grabbed the velvet box and slipped it into my pocket before going back to my photos.
I had finally found a place for them and I was about to go get nails to hang them. I ended up freezing where I was when I heard a familiar voice.
“Hello,” I almost fainted as I slowly turned around. “Sorry, I didn’t know if you were open or not but I’ve been driving all day. Can I grab some food?”
My throat closed, my eyes filled with tears. It was him. He didn’t look like he had really changed. He just looked a little more professional. He was wearing an actual suit but his hair was still the same as when I last saw him. I let out a small breath.
“Duke?”
“Sorry,” he asked. “No...sorry... I’m Elliot.”
Oh my god. It was like Audrey. Same guy, new memories. I blinked back my tears and nodded.
“Right, I’m sorry,” I said. “Um... we aren’t actually open until tomorrow but I could fix something up if you’ve really been driving all day.”
“That would be great,” he nodded. I smiled as I watched him walk over to the bar.
I worked quickly, moving to the back and grabbing a menu.
“It’s our first menu,” I explained quickly. “Can I get you a drink?”
“Just a water,” he replied as he looked at the menu. I furrowed my eyebrows for a split second. I was just used to him drinking.
I got him a glass of water and placed it next to him before asking for his order.
“That’s a beautiful ring,” he commented as I wrote down his order. “Must be a lucky guy.”
I let out a sigh and looked down.
“He... he passed away,” I explained. “About a year ago.”
“I’m so sorry.”
“It’s alright,” I replied. “I’ll have your order ready in a few minutes.”
I went to the back and sighed, leaning against the counter. I covered my face and tried to take a few deep breaths. I very quickly shook out the nerves in my body, carefully placed my ring in the box, and turned around, getting the food together as fast as possible.
After a few minutes, I slid my ring back on and walked back to the bar and placed the plate down.
“Thanks,” Duke- Elliot said.
“You’re welcome,” I nodded.
“Is this place really brand new?”
“I actually rebuilt it,” I explained. “It has had a fair number of owners but the last guy had to watch the place get destroyed. I spent the last year rebuilding it.”
“You did a great job,” he replied. “The place looks great. The food is delicious. Good luck, really.”
“Thanks,” I smiled.
“I know this is forward and stop me if you want to but... would you like to go out sometime,” he asked. I felt my heart stop.
“That sounds... nice,” I nodded. “It sounds really nice.”
“Good,” he smiled at me. I looked down, blushing slightly. I felt my hopes going up by the minute. Maybe things were going to be alright.

flowers (still blooming)
Ace doesn’t know what his mother looks like. Makino met a woman twelve years ago.
(There are flowers in Rouge's hair.)
Read on AO3 for better quality!
--
Makino runs a bar – this is common knowledge to anyone who has ever visited Foosha.
She’s always behind the counter or at serving drinks, all with a kind smile and a laugh at hijinks. No one misbehaves, and there’s a shiny new gun behind the counter for any unwanted visitors.
(Rumor has it a pirate taught her how to shoot.)
She a barmaid and a bar tender and a bar owner – anything really. The Party Bar is her pride and joy.
And left over from her mother, a generation previous, it is her information hub as well.
People come in from all sorts of places for the taste of beers delivered directly by Vice Admiral hands and homebrews from the other side of the island. With them they bring stories, and tales, and wanted posters, secrets about criminals Makino has never known and praise for villains she never wants to meet. Alcohol loosens lips, and it’s an easy task to ask the right questions to get the right answers.
Makino’s smart. She knows the power she holds with all the information locked tight in her brain. She sends letters to Garp, sometimes, to warn about an upcoming raid on some poor island, and smiles at the news of the Hero of the Navy saving yet another place.
(She calls Shanks sometimes, to hear his voice, and to tell him that some upstart is planning on challenging him, to tell him that the Marines are planning some ambush but its only rookies, really, to tell him that she misses him and Luffy isn’t in Foosha much now a days, so can’t he come visit?
He doesn’t. But that’s okay.)
Wanted posters find their way onto the Party Bar’s walls, for one reason or another. A nice young man who tipped well, off to becoming a pirate, or a couple of scoundrels smacked down by Garp the Fist himself. Shanks is there, serious faced over a hefty bounty, with the rest of the crew smiling alongside him.
(A spot is reserved on the other wall for the bounty of three young to-be pirates – she can’t wait to see how high their bounties soar.)
It’s not often Makino looks through them, but then she meets Ace, whose face is so similar to one she has known before – one who smiled at her and gave her a hug when her mother didn’t bother paying attention to her.
Makino visit’s Luffy’s brothers, and cries, just a little bit, when she gets home.
Luffy is so happy but someone dear is gone.
-
Garp keeps secrets when he wants to but Makino knows how to get them out of him. A drop of knowledge here, a drink there, a smile, a private place with no prying ears, and the mention of grandsons is all it takes for the tears to well up in his eyes and for the words to spill out.
Ace, his first grandson’s name is, adopted or not, Portgas D. Ace –
All the information Makino wanted, really, but Garp keeps on talking –
Gol D. Ace, son of the Pirate King –
And Makino’s heart shatters.
(Like any bar, the Party Bar receives its fair share of unruly customers, those with cruel words on their tongues and hatred for people they have never met.
The Son of the King? They say, referring to the only king that ever really mattered. Hope he doesn’t exist! Should kill 'em if he does, sins of the father, right? Drown him at birth, noose around the neck, whatever works! Kid will turn out to be just as bad as his bastard father!)
Ace has demons in his eyes. Makino knows why.
-
Ace proudly calls himself Portgas D. Ace, so Makino has hope, and she loves this boy because he is Ace, the one who Luffy calls brother and the one who makes Luffy less lonely, and because Ace is a child and deserves love no matter what she thinks.
She works past the lump in her heart, when she gets home from that conversation from Garp, and opens the chest in her room.
(Tears drip from her eyes and the Party Bar is closed for the day, but that doesn’t matter.
Whatever has, in the face of this bloodline?)
-
Makino was seven when the woman came into town. She was the most beautiful woman Makino had ever seen, gliding into port with hair the color of morning skies and a dash of freckles across her cheek. A flower rose in her hair, vibrant and beautiful, and her smile changed her face into something different, something Makino wished she had. She was pregnant but didn’t stumble under the weight of her still small belly, and instead stood tall and imposing, almost as tall as Garp.
Portgas D. Rouge came into port like a storm and exited like a whisper
“Child,” she had said to the only one at port that day, Makino, playing in the waves. “Where is everyone?”
“At the bar,” Makino told her blindly, because Foosha was small and had no need for anyone to be wary of strangers.
(The era of pirates was beginning today after all.)
“The Pirate King is being executed – everyone’s watching it.”
It was strange, how people’s faces broke at the strangest things.
“My name is Rouge,” the woman introduced herself. “Will you take me to the bar?”
“Sure.” And Makino did.
(She grabbed Makino’s outstretched hand when Makino lead her to the bar, and didn’t let go when they were inside. Makino didn’t mind (her mother never held her hand anymore). Eventually, the woman, Rouge, lifted her up and placed her on her hip, so she could see the Pirate King.
(He looked big, up on that stage. Who could ever kill him?)
They stood in the back of the bar as Roger shouted his last words – You want my treasure? You can have it! I left everything I gathered together in one place. Now you'll just have to find it! – and an era was born with the death of one man.
Rouge cried when it happened, and Makino didn’t know why. She was smiling though, still smiling that beautiful smile she gave Makino, so she figured it was alright even as tears dripped from her face onto Makino’s hair.
She clung tighter to Rouge, hoping to give her some comfort.
(Hoping she could make this woman happy again.)
It worked, as they left the bar where people were cheering, screaming, at the death of a King. Rouge smiled and her tears mixed with the salt spray from the beach, as she and Makino played in the sand.
Rouge stayed for a week, playing with Makino and giving her more attention than anyone else ever did. She left a flower in her hair when she left, whispered secrets of men and women Makino had never known, and kissed her forehead when Makino went to sleep on her shoulder.
Makino loved her, didn’t you know?
(She left, and never came back.)
-
Makino knows the path to the bandit den like the back of her hand by now. She makes journeys up there in the middle of the week, when the bar is quiet, to give boys a well-cooked meal and some bandits some booze. Its tradition, at this point.
This isn’t her usual day, so it’s a miracle the boys are even at the bandit den (she had heard from an excited Luffy that they were hiding out in a tree house now.) They cheer at her presence and the meal she brought while Dadan gives her a curious look.
They are covered in bruises, a blessing from Garp before he visited Makino, but are still running around, screeching and wrestling in the mud.
Makino doesn’t mind, and in a quiet moment, takes Ace away to talk to him.
“Ace,” She starts, kneeling down to be at his level. “Garp told me about your parents.”
Ace locks up, body freezing as his eyes go wide. There’s terror in them, and Makino feels her heart break. His mouth opens and shuts, words not coming out, but that’s okay.
Makino knows his question.
“I don’t care, Ace, I still love you.”
His eyes well up and he bites his lip, like he can’t bear to believe it. He’s trying to stay strong, and Makino can’t help but wonder at how similar he is to his mother.
(The freckles are a spitting image of Rouge, and Makino can’t help but wonder what he would look like if he had his mother’s hair.)
Ace sniffles and she draws him in. He’s too flustered to fight back, to unused to hugs to hug back, but that’s why Makino drew him away from everyone else.
Her shoulder grows wet from his tears as she gently brushes his hair back. “Shh. It’s okay, Ace. It’s okay.” When he grows quiet, eyes dried up, just a little, she says what she truly came up here to do.
“I have a present for you.”
He lifts his head up, face curious. “More clothes?”
“No, silly.” She laughs and then laughs again at the redness of his face. “Do you know what your mother looked like?”
Ace shakes his head, stilling. “No. Shitty Gramps told me stories though…”
And by the tone in his voice, it’s probably stories of his birth – not the ones Rouge told Makino on Foosha’s beaches twelve years ago.  She’s going to have to fix that.
Makino pulls the old and faded paper out of her pocket. “Here”
Ace takes one look at the poster and promptly breaks again
-
Two weeks after Rouge left Foosha, the News Coos brings another round of papers. Everyone scrambles for one, eager to hear what has happened since the Pirate King fell, but Makino is lucky enough to grab her mother’s copy.
Her reading isn’t the best now, but she likes looking at the wanted posters that come with them. There are so many new pirates now
The wanted poster that falls out is a new one, an updated one, with a face Makino hasn’t seen on a wanted poster before - but has seen in reality, cupped in her hands and counted the freckles of a stranger’s face
‘SEA STORM’ PORTGAS D. ROUGE - WANTED: DEAD OR ALIVE: 1.5 BILLION BERRIES
Rouge... the pregnant woman who laughed and dance with Makino as if she was her own child. is wanted? is a pirate? Why?
Makino can’t fathom it and worries for the woman who she had known for a week.
She hopes she’s alive
She hopes she comes back
(She asks Garp about the woman, once, and some strange happenings run across his face, like worry and concern and anger all at once. He curses then interrogates Makino about everything she knows about the woman, which she tells him, trembling. Her mother scolds her for being dishonest but Garp thanks her, tells her she’s keeping her safe. That Rouge will be safe.
Makino is thankful.)
Raids start for the pirate Kings son the next week. Makino stays at home, afraid and hidden as soldiers interrogate every woman on the isle, how long they been there, if any people visited port before the capture of the king.
She hopes Rouge, regnant and tall and bold, escapes it.
Her bounty comes in again with a New Coo a year later, when raids have died down, and Makino is sure she’s alive.
1.7 billion, and she’s smiling.
Rouge survived. Makino can’t wait to see her again.
(That is the last picture she ever gets of Rouge. It’s not put up with the others when Makino takes over the bar at 16. It’s much too precious for that. instead, she hides it in her chest of precious things in her room, taking care to make sure the paper doesn’t crumble or fray. It’s a treasure she doesn’t admit to having, and dream she doesn’t say to the world but keeps close to her heart.)
Makino sees ace and knows Rouge didn’t survive for that woman, who played with her when no one else would, would never abandon her child willingly.
-
The wanted poster is faded but the picture is still clear through meticulous care.  a woman stares out from in, angled away from the camera but with her face fully visible. her hair flows in the morning light of the picture, pink against the sea in the background, and freckles dash across her face. she’s closed mouth but smiling eye amused but with one eyebrow raised. A hibiscus, pink and blooming, is nestled in her hair. Her skin is warm and glowing and she looks like an older Ace.
Its Rouge, queen of the seas.
Its Rouge, Aces mother.
In the wanted poster he takes gently from Makino, he sees his mother for the first time.
“Mom?” he croaks out, voice shaky and so, so hopeful. Makino hums, and settles in, guiding Ace to sit next to her as they stare at the wanted poster.
“Yes. When I was girl she visited this island... you look just like her, you know? I knew it was her the moment I saw you.”
“What... what was she like?” Aces voice is soft and hopeful as he traces the bounty number, so unbelievably high for someone he has never heard of.
Makino smiles. “She was kind, so unbelievably kind, to me at least. Just wandered into Foosha one day and took my hand – I think she was pregnant with you at the time, isn’t that fun?”
Ace gives a tiny smile, eyes wide and big as he stares at her. He hangs onto every word, trying to show that he isn’t lest she decides not to tell it, which she never would, but it’s endearing all the same.
“But to others,” Makino continues, “She was the storm at sea. Sea Storm Rouge, the papers called her, a legend known by the burning flower in her hair. She would appear like a maelstrom at sea, suddenly there before you could blink and taking down ships at a speed no one could rival save for a select few. She would free slaves from nobles in the same breath she took off with all their loot. She took nothing lying down.”
Sabo and Luffy sneak in to their tiny clearing and find their place next to Ace, knowing there’s a story to be told and not willing to miss it. She laughs at their curious expressions, and continues wither her tale of the woman she might have called mother as Ace pulls his brothers in close.
“She told me once of how she stared a sea king the size of an island down because he was bothering her morning meal…”
-
Rouge leaves in the quiet moments of dawn, when the sun is only barely rising and all is quiet save for the fishermen already out in the waters.
She takes Makino with her, out to the shore, taking her by the hand and leading her out as the girl rubbed sleep from her eyes.
There’s sadness in Rouge, Makino notes as they leave, passing by houses and towards the abandon beach half a mile from Foosha.
She doesn’t like the sadness there, but she senses it’s not her job to get rid of it – it’s the selfish kind of sadness, the kind that comes with loving some great.
(Makino’s young, but all the children of this world know that feeling.)
They watch the sunrise together in front of Rouge’s small ship, and lean into each other. Rouge’s hand braids Makino’s hair as she plays with the sword handle at the woman’s hip.
“Rouge,” She asks, quiet. It’s not the time for loudness. “Why are you leaving?”
Why are you leaving me?
(Makino’s mother runs the Party Bar and doesn’t leave time for anyone else. Her father isn’t around and the closest she has is Garp and Woopslap, and it should be enough, but it isn’t. Not next to this stranger who has told her of legends and let her hold her hand and dance under the stars. It’s not enough to the raging storm of Rouge’s love.)
Rouge smiles, face softening as she finishes tying off Makino’s braid. “I have to, to keep those I love safe. If I fight, I can win, but others won’t. And I won’t hurt them for their selflessness.”
“But what if its selfishness?”
What if I want you here for me?
Rouge rests a hand on her stomach and one on Makino’s head, and the world seems to still. There’s a pressure from Rouge, one that seems to make the light from the sun flicker under the force from it. It relents, after a moment, but Makino feels safe.
Secure.
Rouge loves her.
“Then you must live with that selfishness, like I do mine.” Her voice is soft. Makino takes the words and keeps them in her heart. It’s hers.
The sun is half over the horizon now. Rouge gets up, and lifts Makino from the railing where they sit to put her on the sandy ground. They are both barefoot, now, having run in the sand half an hour before, and their toes sink into sand as water runs over their toes.
It’s a peaceful kind of ending.
Rouge kneels, soaking her pants in the shore to look Makino in her eyes. She pulls the flower out of her hair, still immaculately pristine and beautiful, and places it behind Makino’s ear. “A gift,” she says, and kisses Makino on the forehead, “so you don’t forget me, alright?”
Makino nods and knows she never will.
No one but Makino knows the Maelstrom of the Grand Line was on Dawn Island, but as Rouge sails off into the raising son, one child left behind and one yet to be born, she finds that’s quite alright.
She was there, and that was enough.
(Never, her selfish heart whispers, never enough.)
-
Ace is the only one still awake by the time Makino tells the last of her few tales. He’s tired, clearly, resting heavily on Sabo as Luffy rests in his lap, but he keeps on blinking his eyes open. The sun is setting now, and Makino must really be going, but she has one last thing to show him.
“Come on,” She says, pulling Ace up and leaving his brothers to collapse on each other. “I have another gift for you.”
Ace looks at the wanted poster still held so gently in his hands, and follows into the woods.
There’s a field on the west side of the island, the cliffside above the shore half a mile from Foosha. Its filled with beautiful hibiscuses the shades of vibrant pink.
Ace had seen it before, on his ventures.
But now, Makino shows him the truth.
“Your mother gave me her flower, one of them at least, that was in that poster. It started wilting after a few days, so I found a way to replant the seeds and pressed the original… they quickly spread over the valley…”
The sun makes them burn like fire, and Makino sees the love of a mother reflected in Ace’s eyes.
Saltwater falls down her cheeks as she sees Ace take a flower like it is the most precious thing in the world (like Makino had treated the flower Rouge gave her) and place it in his hair. It’s just long enough in the step that it nestles gently in his hair, and he smiles, so happily, like she hasn’t seen him do unless he’s with his brothers.
Tears mirror hers on his cheeks and suddenly she’s staring at Rouge on the day she met her.
He gives her a flower next, and they walk under the setting sun to Dadan’s hut with Rouge’s love intertwined in their hair.
-
Makino is a bartender, which means she keeps information, and it means she inherited the place where she met a woman who changed her life.
She sees Ace off on the same shore she saw Rouge off, and cries and waves with joy in every moment. He sails into the sun, brilliant and bold, as flowers float around the waiting crowd, and she’s so, so happy.
She is a bartender so she gets the wanted posters two months later first: information is key, after all.
The poster is put up on the reserved wall, a place of pride for three two boys.
Fire Fist Ace, it declares, Captain of the Spades Pirates WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE!
The picture on it is a smiling boy on fire, freckled and smiling. His hat has two charms around it and a wreath of beads is around his neck, a gift from his bandit mother. Expected, for a runaway pirate.
Intertwined in the hat and in his hair, however, are brilliant pink hibiscuses – a tribute to a woman forgotten by the world.
(The rumors Makino hears tell of a boy who doesn’t care what you do to him, but if you harm his crew or the flowers on his ship and hat, there will be hell to pay from a boy made of fire.)
Makino thinks Rouge would be proud.
-
“Rouge? What are you going to name your baby?”
“Ann if it’s a girl. I would name her Makino, but I think the one I know is great enough!”
“Sesesese! And if it’s a boy?”
“Then Ace! That’s the name his father loved – it’s a good name, don’t you think? I love him already.”
“Can I be his big sister?”
“Of course.”
-
(Makino is a bartender, and that mean Makino has connections.
She asks Shanks to fill Ace’s grave with pink hibiscuses, and for Rayleigh to give Luffy a bouquet of them to give to the cracks in the Earth at Marineford.
It’s not nearly enough, but she will be selfish, just this once, and will cry about it.)
-
She names her child Ann and calls her my little sea storm, my little flower.
She knows Rouge would be proud.
