The Fruit Truck came to my city!
I bought way too many strawberries (like. 16 pints?) and made strawberry jam tonight.
I like canning, but it takes FOREVER to do because besides making the same, getting that much water to boil takes ages.
And I was standing for most of it, like a fool.
Now I have to figure out what to do with the rest of them.
Scones? Ice cream? Pie?

I got a cookie recipe that claims it's from former Crumble Cookie employee, who's no longer bound by their NDA. The original recipe is huge! 4 lbs of flour, 1 lb of sugar. Huge. Says it'll give you 35 cookies. I cut it down to 1/4 the size, and still got 20 decent sized cookies.
How big are Crumble Cookies?!

'I just wanted to see what the recipe *was*, NYT, goddamn.'
I had feelings, so I found a recipe and made bread about it. Now I just gotta try a million more to find my favorite one! Bonus slice-and-butter picture!

Well, shit. Do I need to make another starter?

It does! I mean, you can not like it, but it does. 馃し

I found a recipe on Instagram for Mason Jar Noodles that looked amazing. I got the first one set up last night, and added boiling water from the work kettle. PERFECTION. This was so good, incredibly tasty, and ridiculously easy to customize. Can't wait to try another one!

Happy New Year! May it be full of interesting recipes and tastey food!
Yesterday we had biscuits and gravy for breakfast. I've never made this kind of gravy from scratch before! It turned out really well, but did end up a little thicker than I would have liked. Still, it tasted great, and that's all thta matters.
I made Dad's famous Chicken and Dumplings for New Year's dinner. It's definitely a Special Occasion food, full of nostolgia. And super easy because Dad used a rotisserie chicken and Bisquick 馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ
Tonight was going to be a crock pot Beef Stroganoff, but I completely spaced on the beef when grocery shopping! I have no idea how I did it. Instead we used our coupon for a free, frozen Lou Malnati's pizza, with salad and lemon ice. And I'm totally counting that as "cooks" because I put it in the over myself. 馃槄
And Teacup asked for leftover cocktail meatballs. I'm not surprised she likes them, I'm just surprised she remembered them.

We had meatloaf and mashed potatoes for dinner. Teacup ate more off of my plate than her own. 馃ぃ

Teacup is at the age where she wants to help whenever I'm in the kitchen. Now she's got a step stool contraption, and she can be where the action is!
I set her up, and she 'worked' along side me as I made lunch for the week: curried butternut squash soup! I used Bobby Berk's recipe, with a few modifications (shout out to Penzey's Spices for their Sweet Curry powder!) And it turned out amazing! There was enough left over to enjoy a little, as a treat.
10/10, will definitely be making again!

"Hey, how was your weekend, She!Sam?"
Not great, for a few reasons. Not least of which is I BURNED my HAND making CARROT SOUP. Which is basically the LEAST COOL way to burn yourself.
Tastes good, though.

Did you know that today was Smores Day?
It was kinda wet outside, so we made ours over the stove. Still tasted great, though!

One day I will actually use this blog like I intended.
Until then, here's some dessert!

After lots of freaking out (I guess my quarantine anxiety finally caught up with me?), I made dinner! Swedish meatloaves with mashed potatoes and, of course, lingonberry jam. (G鈥檚 family is hella Swedish so we always have a jar or two in the pantry.)
And of course I got a crap picture. I'd retake it, but everything disappeared pretty quickly.

Yes, I ate ice cream for breakfast. No, I'm not taking questions or criticism at this time.
