y/nupdates excuse me, sir???
lh44updates did you see what lewis posted on his story a few minutes before this?
y/nupdates oh my god 😵‍💫 if this is a coincidence, i’ll eat my hat
f1wagupdates no way it’s a coincidence because this is textbook soft launching
lh44updates imagine if they made the jam together?
f1wagupdates this might mean that they’re living together or at least staying over
latingossip “lewis” this, “hamilton” that … why is no one talking about the fact that this is directly shading her ex?
yourfanclub i love that y/n is sneakily calling ruiz out by using strawberry jam considering it’s sort of the reason why she broke up with him in the first place
y/nupdates it’s so poetic
yourfanclub especially taken into context with lewis’ story 🤭

⤷ Wait … did I just hear that correctly? Did Lewis call Y/N his wife?
⤷ He said it so naturally that I didn’t even realize until you pointed it out 😳
⤷ It’s definitely a surprise but I absolutely love them together! They are so much happier with each other
⤷ This is a bombshell considering they never even officially announced they were engaged in the first place
⤷ Who can blame them for wanting to keep it private after so much of their lives has been aired to the public? This just goes to show that they are well and truly in love
⤷ I hope this means we continue to get more music collabs from them

where you made a real big mistake, but Miles made the worst one look fine.
inspired by Oliva Rodrigo lyrics.
pairing: e42!aged up!Miles x reader
genre: angst, no comfort.
warnings: infidelity, both of them are 19, cursing, Miles being toxic
a.n: hi guys! i haven't posted day 2 of my writing challenge so here it is! i'll post twice today to make up to it, and i'm already working on it! love y'all, enjoy! xoxo.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤPLEASE CONSIDER REBBLOGING!
Tumblr media
you hadn't heard from Miles in days. sick worried, you had talked to all of his friends, and all of them would just shrug you off, and you knew something was wrong. you knew that it wasn't exam season at college, so why was he avoiding you? leaving you on delivered every day, not answering your calls, nothing. it was like you never met each other. until you got a text from an unknown number: a picture of Miles kissing another girl. the one girl that would always say how cute you two were together, the one girl that Miles told you not to worry about. you just couldn't believe that, after all of that you've done for him, you ended up being the fool. you texted him that same day.
you: we gotta talk.
mi vida <3: im omw
you: bet.
(delivered at 3pm)
he showed up at your window in his prowler suit at 2AM while you were writing your daily diary entry.
"hey." he called, making you look up from your notebook. "you good?"
"yeah, i'm good."
he looked at you, and you could see that he wanted to tell you something. you knew him better than he did, and that was the worst part of it.
"spill it."
"i… i fucked up, ma."
he mumbled out, and immediately you knew what he was talking about. why he was so distant. why his mother was avoiding you, why even his uncle, who was never even nice to you, asked if you were okay this morning when you ran into him.
"fuck yeah, you did."
"i'm sorry, y/n, i really am-"
"no you're fucking not. don't bullshit me, Miles Gonzales Morales."
"can you listen to me first?"
"no! no, i can't! God, i can't believe how stupid i was."
"ma, you're overreacting."
"am i? am i overreacting when some random number text me a picture of my fucking boyfriend kissing the one girl i was insecure about?"
"it was a one night stand, ma, i made a mistake! i love you!"
"no, Miles, i made a mistake. i made a real big one, and you made it look so fine!" you raised your voice, tears flooding your eyes. "and you can't love anyone, because that would mean you have a fucking heart!"
"c'mon, y/n, you're better than this. bet it was those crazy friends of yours that filled your head with that bullshit."
"don't you open your mouth to talk about them! they warned me! they told me you were bad news and you called them crazy like you did just now! God, i hate the way i called them crazy too…"
you leaned back, covering your face so he wouldn't see you crying. he walked to you, taking your hands and analyzing your face carefully.
"are you done? can i kiss you now?"
you scoffed, pushing him away
"is she better than me?" you mumbled, wiping the tears away.
"what?"
"is she better than me, Miles?
"you can't ask me that-"
"yes or no?"
he was silent, but you felt the energy shift.
"no one is better than you."
"it's incredible how you lie without flinching."
"listen to me-"
"get out of my fucking house."
"woah, who do you think you're talking to?"
"a stranger." you looked into his eyes, and you knew he knew it was over. "i hope you're happy, Miles. i truly do. but we both know that you'll never have another me."
he started to walk away, ego as shattered as your heart.
"thank God for that."
you took the ring out of your finger, placing it on his hands.
"we'll see about that."
you watched as he walked away, giving you one last look before leaving through the window. as you set down on your bed taking the notebook to write that down, you felt your eyes tearing up, and soon teardrops were staining the black ink that covered the pages. you knew that, eventually, Miles would regret that, but it would be too late.

I absolutely love the new season of young royals. I also love how it furthered my disdain for out of touch rich people. They finally took full advantage of the setting of the show and showed how ignorant people with wealth can be.
You have Felice’s friend group who I and I’m gonna be completely honest CANNOT STAND. Like I like madison but frederika and Stella are so infuriating. Frederika has a knack for saying the most tone-deaf stuff that really gets under my skin and Stella is so blunt and just not in a good way. The way they almost got angry with Felice for calling out the toxic traditions and the bad school environment. It never affected them so it cannot POSSIBLY have been that bad. I love how they acknowledged Felice being one of the only black girls at the school and the friends just not getting it. Not understanding what the issue is exactly and just responding with ‘you’re beautiful.’ Felice knows she’s beautiful. She isn’t insecure she’s just calling out the biases of the teachers but she realises she’s not gonna be able to have a fruitful conversation with them so she just moves on to not make things awkward. This is so relatable for a black girl with an all white friend group. Sometimes the discussion is not worth your energy.
But they are NOTHING compared to Vincent and some of the other guys. The comments they made were sometimes so infuriating I had to pause to compose myself. They are a slightly different case since they actually full on faced the toxicity but especially Vincent refuses to cope with it and continues to traumatise students further(sure not as bad as he faced but initiations will always be disgusting)
The times he calls Simon a communist for simply speaking out about problems ( I don’t think my man payed attention in politics) yet will do a protest for a thing he’s not happy with cus hey how hard can it be poor people do it not realising how draining it can be (he should be happy they gave in so quickly cus he was not prepared)
And Wilhelm….
I’m probably gonna do a second post about him because I wanna get all my thoughts out before the final ep.
I love him but I love how Simon called him out about how he didn’t realise how privileged he was. Don’t get me wrong he faces a lot of problems because of it but he doesn’t understand some of the struggles. He saw the camping trip as just a bad night but Simon saw it for what it was. Two types of people with an incredible difference of wealth not being able to understand each other because one doesnt know how the world works. How much struggle the ordinary person has while they just see things as a given.
The lack of understanding between the two was always gonna cause conflict and honestly you can’t even blame them
(Though I will slightly blame rich people for being so out of touch with world issues but hey guess that’s just poor me talking who’s jealous of them)(Wilhelm tried his best and so did Simon)

welcome back to episode in review and HOO BOY do we have a lot to talk about
spoilers for episode 18 of inanimate insanity invitational!!!!!
so to begin OH MY GOODNESS that was a doozy
that episode was intense i had to keep pausing and rewinding it was scary ok lets start
Tumblr media
seeing this i just knew i was in for a ride whoop dee doo!!
i feel like they were right TO A DEGREE, because mephone doesn’t have any ill intentions, he’s just misguided. he thinks the show is the only way he can have friends or people who like him, its really sad.
Tumblr media
just wanted to include this because THEY’RE ALL SO SILLY and cabby politely standing beside the seat because she can’t sit on it THEY’RE SO SILLY
Tumblr media
i was talking to some of my friends about this earlier, but silver’s whole world probably cane crashing down here. he’d been fighting for not just himself, but candle as well, and her not wanting to give him her vote, despite him doing everything she wanted, was probably heartbreaking. he’d found his inner flame and beat the competition and this is what he gets? i understand why he was so pissed later on because the one person he thought would be happy for him wasn’t.
he almost immediately covered it up, but his inner flame’s later outburst shows how he really felt.
Tumblr media
mephone was hoping his plan would follow through here, but it also shows he’s hung onto the guilt of season one’s finale. in one of my previous theories, i guessed that he valued paintbrush for two reasons; that he thought they’d understand the guilt of losing 4s, and that they act somewhat similarly to him. i don’t think this is in confirmation of that, but it backs it up somewhat.
the perfect prize to mephone is this going to plan, without any casualties despite what the season four file may imply, from what i can tell. he’s scared its all gonna go wrong the same way season one’s finale did. however, i still don’t think he wamted to follow through with this plan, evidenced by both him and the floor at the end.
Tumblr media
do i need to say anything
Tumblr media
its the anti-avengers dude
sorry this was so funny to me i had to include it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this scene messed me up guys like seriously
on one hand, candle thinks silver spoon’s learned his lesson, that the inner flame is not something to boast, but rather cherish and use for good. she thinks this because silver spoon functions in such a way. he reveals something about himself that she doesn’t approve of, she expresses that, and he changes to fit her standards, that’s how its always been. it shows her trust in him, his constant, because as much as he thinks otherwise, he never truly changes his ways, until now at least. that’s why she was so shocked, thinking he wouldn’t hang on to that since he seemed so unbothered previously. to her, silver was almost always an open book, so to see him hide something was shocking.
for silver spoon on the other hand, the one person who always had his back, who taught him everything he knew, turned on him. he did everything she asked and she won’t support him. it would be enraging, hence why he didn’t understand her lesson. he was too focused on the fact that she’d decided, in his eyes, that he still wasn’t enough, too powered by emotion and greed. he’s incredibly insecure, so to have her tell him he’s doing everything he aspired for wrong resulting in the rage clouding his mind, and thus,
Tumblr media
SHE IS DEAD BOY ‼️
seeing him inching toward her motionless body at the end was tragic i was on the floor. she advised him not to let the inner flame, his rage, cloud his mind, he didn’t listen, and look where that led him. its tragic, really.
Tumblr media
as a mephone angst enjoyer WAAAAH
this was mean, springy’s mean, i don’t like him.
… but he’s right. to mephone, this WAS all a game. he’s changed and grown, but that’s not gonna change how badly he’s treated people. mephone is broken because he refuses to fix himself. implied through the screen protector memory from episode 13 season two, mephone was taugh that he was strong, and should never be a vulnerable. as a likely result, he may have grown to resent vulnerability, and in turn never sought help, because that would be making yourself vulnerable.
whoop dee doo ok i’m ending it there before i get out of hand.
thanks for reading this if you did and i hope you didn’t completely hate it!!!
have a lovely day, and stay safe ;P

Breaking Down
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Fem!Reader
Summary: When Eddie stands you up your insecurities convince you he has cheated on you, but when morning comes and you turn on the news to hear that a Hawkins High student has been found dead you realise how wrong you really were
Word Count: 4.8K
Content Warnings: Reader spends some time thinking Eddie has cheated on them (obviously he didn’t), Reader also spends some time thinking Eddie is dead (obviously he is not), Reader has very low self esteem - Follows the plot of season 4 so you have a general idea of what to expect! One use of Y/N but it was necessary
Authors Note: I decided to try my hand at angst again! My comfort zone is definitely smut so it feels good to branch out and try something new. I don't know right now if I have any intention of continuing this, I just had the scene with uncle Wayne nagging in my brain and wanted to make something out of it so here we are. Thank you @shybunnie20 for proofreading and giving me tips, if you love a bit of angst please go check out her work because it is incredible ❤️
Reblogs/comments are always appreciated! 🥰

“That’s why we play!”
The room had erupted with fervent cheers and celebration after Hellfire’s most recent victory. You looked around to witness the looks of pure elation on your teammates faces as they embraced each other with glee. You turned towards Erica, the younger girl beaming with pride after rolling the winning hit, your heart swelled as you watched Eddie bow down to her in commendation.
“WE WON!” Dustin screamed into your face as he grabbed and shook you by the shoulders.
You couldn’t help but laugh at his enthusiasm, his face a dark shade of tomato red, if he was any more ecstatic you think his head might burst.
“Hell yeah we did!” you patted him affectionately. “Vecna was no match for the great Lady Applejack.”
You shot Erica a wink as she spun around and grinned at your praise. You basked a little longer in the glory with the rest of the guys before they eventually packed up their belongings and headed out for the night, leaving you and Eddie alone. You watched him standing at the head of the table, carefully gathering the remaining game pieces and packing them away with his binder. He looked warm, happy. A soft smile lingering on his lips at the success of his campaign, his cheeks flushed from the rush of the leftover adrenaline of the evening. He looked pretty, almost radiant below the low lighting of the theatre room. You strolled idly along the length of the table to wrap your arms around his middle.
“Congrats on yet another outstanding performance dungeon master,” you mumbled against his skin, your lips pressing kisses along his cheekbone.
“Well I do try,” he smiled down at you cheekily, puckering his lips.
Taking the hint you leaned forward, granting his request for a real kiss. His fingers weaved themselves into your hair, lips moving gently with your own. You melted into his touch, only pulling away when you needed to catch your breath.
“My parents are away this weekend,” you reminded him with a suggestive raise of your brows. “Why don’t we go home, order way too much takeout for two people and watch but not really watch that movie I rented last weekend?”
“Hmmm that sounds perfect,” he sighed leaning in for another kiss.
“C’mon then,” you gave his waist a squeeze before letting go and moving to gather your bag from the opposite end of the table. “Let’s get the hell outta here.”
“Yeah…” he scrunched his nose up guiltily as he drew the word out, the way someone did when they were about to burden you with bad news. “I kinda have a thing I need to do first, can I meet you there?”
“A thing?” You scrunched your nose up in question.
“Yeah,” he simply responded.
“What kind of thing do you have to do where I can’t come with you?”
“Okay,” he sighed, his arms braced on the table in front of him.” Just don’t make a big deal out of it, promise?”
You stared at him in silence, not willing to make any promises when the way he was speaking to you already guaranteed you were going to be unhappy.
“I’m taking Chrissy Cunningham back to my place,” he spoke to you calmly, scanning your face for the first signs of dismay. “For business.”
“You’re taking... Chrissy Cunningham,” you enunciated the cheer captain’s name. “To your home alone on a Friday night, for business?”
“Yes,” he snapped, a little irked by what your tone insinuated. “For business.”
“What makes her so special she can’t just buy from you at school like everybody else?”
“She did come to me here but let’s just say she requested something a little stronger than my usual wares.”
“Stronger?” You couldn’t hide the surprise in your voice. “Eds what are you selling her?”
“Special K,” he shrugged casually.
“Special K?! Eddie… Baby… You think a good step up from weed is ketamine?” You tried to keep your voice down, despite your rising exasperation, unsure of who was still in the building that could possibly overhear you. “I’m sorry but are you crazy? You could get in serious trouble if anyone finds out about this.”
“I could get in trouble for a lot of things if people found out about them sweetheart,” he grinned at you like it was a joke.
You stayed silent, staring at him in disbelief. You loved Eddie but you regularly found his flippant attitude towards serious topics the source of your frustration. He put one hand on his hip, his chin dipped towards the floor. Realising that he wasn’t going to charm you into being okay with this he decided to pull the empathy card. He didn’t need you to accept it as long as you understood.
“Look. I don’t know what shit she’s got going on in her life, it’s not my place to ask,” he walked along the length of the table slowly as he explained. “But whatever it was, it was really troubling her. She wants something stronger and I have it so, if she wants to numb her pain I’m not gonna judge okay? Neither should you.”
You were silent while you thought about what he said, you understood where he was coming from, and you weren’t judging Chrissy in the slightest. You were more worried about Eddie getting locked up and ruining his life than you were about her coping mechanisms. No matter what he said to try and put you at ease you just couldn’t shake the gnawing feeling that this was a terrible idea, in more ways than one.
“I just don’t like it,” you eventually told him, your voice smaller than you wanted it to be.
“Why? You jealous?” Eddie smirked at you, his attempt to ease the tension in the room by teasing you.
“Yes,” you answered without missing a beat.
Eddie dropped the smirk immediately, his features softening as he was taken aback by your honesty. He took a few slow steps forward to close the last of the space between you, taking both of your hands in his, he pressed his forehead to yours and looked into your worried gaze.
“Don’t be,” he spoke earnestly. “I love you.”
“Love you too,” you closed your eyes focusing on his touch, your voice barely above a whisper.
He squished his nose into the apple of your cheek, huffing a breathy laugh before he attacked your face with a series of wet, sloppy kisses. Refusing to stop until he saw a smile break out across your face.
“Eddie stop!” You giggled, you ducked your cheek down to your shoulder in an attempt to wipe away his saliva.
“It’ll be okay,” he assured you, his voice taking on a more deliberate tone as he cradled your face in his large palms. “I promise.”
You bit your bottom lip in worry but nodded, accepting that he wasn’t going to reconsider and not wanting to fight with him anymore that night.
“I’ll give her the stuff then drop her off home and come straight to yours okay?” He placed one last kiss firmly to your lips, lingering until he heard you hum in content. “Leave your window open.”
So home alone you went, the festering ball of anxiety in your stomach only sitting heavier the further away you got from Eddie. You were usually thrilled by the prospect of an empty house. It wasn’t even the fact that you could have as much uninterrupted fun with Eddie as you wanted, you got plenty of opportunities to be alone at his place thanks to his uncle’s work schedule. You enjoyed the freedom, the independence, the peace and quiet was normally a comfort. But not tonight, tonight it made you feel eerily lonely. You had planned to order your food and get the VCR ready for when Eddie arrived but your appetite dwindled with every passing minute. Instead you headed upstairs with the prickling urge to take a shower in an attempt to wash away the uneasiness. The scolding water did little to calm your nerves and you prayed that Eddie would turn up sooner rather than later, it was the only way this feeling was going to go away. Back in your bedroom you pulled on an oversized t-shirt and some sleep shorts, after unlatching your window so Eddie would be able to climb through you buried yourself under your covers with a book. You willed yourself to focus on the words in front of you and not on what was going on at your boyfriend’s trailer right now.
Eddie had given you no reasons to doubt him. He was forever doting on you, finding new ways every day to show you how much he loved you. Sometimes it was something as simple as insisting you didn’t walk home alone, other times it was a big public display of his affection which you always acted embarrassed by but secretly loved. He had never been shy about letting the world know you were his. Yet there was always that voice in the back of your head telling you that you weren’t good enough, not pretty enough, not interesting enough, not for someone as wonderfully eccentric as Eddie. Eventually someone else was bound to catch his eye, someone like Chrissy. She was the epitome of perfection. Sweet, beautiful, popular, adored by all, how could you compete with that? You wouldn’t even blame Eddie for being enticed by her. You’d never been concerned by the thought before tonight because you had never seen them interact, you didn’t think she would ever have spoken to him given her boyfriend’s obvious distaste for him. Not only her boyfriend but most of her friends. Now you knew that not only was she not afraid to speak to him but she was completely willing to go home alone with him and your mind was beginning to spiral.
‘Stop it.’ You scolded yourself as you felt the first signs of hot tears burning behind your eyes. You couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment in your life when your self-esteem became so low, you had struggled with your insecurities for as long as you could remember. It had taken someone like Eddie, someone so crazy and confident and so unashamedly themself, giving you his affection to start slowly but surely healing those wounds. He had you believing that you were beautiful, you were funny, you were worthy of his attention. Or so you had thought. Tonight had proved that almost a year’s worth of what you thought had been progress was a lie. If it could be unravelled so easily by something as simple as him being alone in his trailer with another girl, Queen Bee or not, then you really were still at one of your lowest points.
When it had taken you almost two hours to read a grand total of five pages you gave up on the idea of trying to keep your thoughts occupied, flinging your book across your room in frustration. You balled your hands into tight fists and dug them into your eye sockets before you could allow yourself to start crying. If he had been telling the truth about how straight forward this meeting was then he would have been here by now. The town wasn’t that big, he should have been able to get from school to his trailer, quickly exchange goods and money, take Chrissy back to her house and still make it yours in under an hour. Something was wrong. You reached for the phone on your nightstand and dialled Eddie’s number, it rang and rang with no answer.
“Fuck!” You yelled as you slammed down the phone.
Why would he not answer? The thought of them together was haunting you. You kept thinking about her touching him. Kissing him. Her perfectly manicured fingers tangled in his curls while he manhandled her tiny frame. You were crying now. You couldn’t stop it. You spent the next hour obsessively dialling his number to no avail before you succumbed to the heavy pull of sleep.
You woke with a start, your head foggy as you were dragged suddenly back to reality. You rubbed the sleep from your eyes and glanced at your alarm clock, the numbers blinked 04:17. You were still alone, the cold, unoccupied space next to you made your stomach drop all over again. He never showed up. It was now nearing 9 hours since you had left Eddie at Hellfire. You slipped out of bed and headed over to your window, wanting to double check that you had definitely unlocked it for him. It slid open with ease. Did he show up and leave because you had been asleep? No, he wouldn’t have left. There had been countless times he had shown up after you had nodded off and he always, always, slid into bed beside you regardless. As much as you wanted it to be your self-deprecating mind overreacting you were starting to truly believe he had cheated on you.
There was no other reason for him standing you up. If he needed to change your plans at the last minute, if something had come up that was going to keep him away from you all night he would have called to tell you. You allowed yourself to cry for only a moment before your worry started to turn to anger. Fuck him. And fuck her too. Fuck him for lying to you for almost a year about how much you meant to him and making you believe it. You fell asleep furious at Eddie for the second time that night.
You were roused the next morning by the sunlight streaming through your window. You groaned while you shielded your eyes from the sun, your arm blindly reaching across the empty space beside you on instinct as you momentarily forgot the events of the night before. Oh right, he’s not there. Your chest tightened all over again as the feelings of betrayal began to return. Your clock now read 09:34, you supposed you should get up despite you having no plans for the day. It would have been spent lazing in bed with Eddie and that made you want to stay there even less.
Feeling sorry for yourself, you dragged yourself down the stairs and to the kitchen for some breakfast. Despite your appetite not returning you knew it wouldn’t do you any good to start skipping meals, you couldn’t let yourself fall into a pit of depression. You switched on the tiny television that sat on your kitchen counter and turned away to pour yourself some cereal. You were on your tiptoes reaching for a bowl on the top shelf when your efforts were brought to an abrupt halt by the voice of the news reporter from behind you.
“We’re in the Forest Hills trailer park in east Roane County, we don’t have a lot of details now but we can confirm that the body of a Hawkins High student was discovered early this morning…”
You felt your blood run cold, draining from your face as your heart plummeted to your stomach. The box of Froot Loops in your hand dropped, spilling out far across the kitchen floor as you spun on your heel to watch the screen.
“Police have not released the name although we are told they’re currently in the process of notifying the family. As you can see behind me Chief Powell and the Hawkins Police Department are actively investigating the scene…”
A breath you hadn’t even realised you were holding released in the form of a sob as your eyes focused on the trailer in the background behind the reporter. That was the Munson trailer. No doubt about it. You barely had time to spin around when the nausea hit before you were spewing the contents of your stomach into the sink behind you. The realisation hit you like a freight train, the reason Eddie hadn’t crawled through your window last night, the reason he hadn’t picked up the phone to your hundred calls wasn’t because he was cheating on you, it was because he was dead.
Your thoughts were running a mile a minute, the panic spreading through your chest like wildfire making it hard to breathe. You were the worst person in the world. You had spent the entire night thinking so badly of Eddie. Your insecurities allowed you to believe he was a liar, a cheat, and when you were calling him every name under the sun in your head he was going through god only knows what. You needed to know what had happened to him. You needed to see it for yourself.
You snapped out of your trance and raced back up to your bedroom, scooping up the first t-shirt and pair of jeans your eyes landed on. You threw them on haphazardly and grabbed your keys. It didn’t even cross your mind to try and fix your dishevelled appearance, your hair sticking up wildly from your restless night, eyes still a little swollen from crying yourself to sleep. You locked up and grabbed your bike from the garage and pedalling faster than you ever had in your life, you set off towards the trailer park. You rode on autopilot as your brain wandered back to your previous dark train of thought. Back to what events could possibly have led to Eddie ending up dead. Was it an accident or was it murder?
How did it happen? Was the whole thing a set up? Was Chrissy in on it? Had she tricked Eddie into thinking she wanted drugs to get him alone so her boyfriend and his goons could jump him, did they plan to kill him or was it a cruel prank gone too far? You had only had a handful of brief interactions with Chrissy before but she never gave you the impression she was a bully, she didn’t seem mean like the majority of her friends. Maybe she wasn’t in on it at all, she might not even know now. What if Jason had found out about her little meet up with Eddie and followed them? Eddie had never been a violent person but he could hold his own in a fight if it became necessary. Jason was a pussy by himself but if he had rounded up his pack of dogs and pounced on Eddie when he was unsuspecting and alone he wouldn’t have stood a chance. Was it your fault? Maybe you had spoken too loud when you were discussing the meeting last night after all. The basketball game had ended around the same time, the entire team and cheer squad were still in the building, any one of them could have walked past and run to Jason with news of what they had heard.
By the time the rusting sign for Forest Hills came into view you were winded from the exertion. Your ankles were bruised and scraped after slipping off pedals so many times from how erratically you were riding. You had been on enough nightly strolls around the park with Eddie to know it inside out by now, the most straightforward path to the Munson residence was cordoned off so you took a different route. There was enough commotion that you were able to weave between the trailers unnoticed.
Your eyes landed on Wayne, he looked more run down than you had ever seen him. Pacing back and forth in clear distress, a half smoked cigarette held shakily between his fingers, his eyes sunken in with exhaustion. You leapt off your bike and sprinted over to him, tears already stinging behind your eyes before you’d even made it to him. He noticed you coming towards him and held his arms open ready for you to throw yourself into them, sobs already wracking your body as you buried your face into his worn flannel.
“It’s not him.”
“Huh?” You sniffled into his chest, his large palm awkwardly yet comfortingly patting the crown of your head.
“It’s not him, darlin’,” he confirmed again. “S’not Eddie.”
The sense of relief that washed over you at those words was indescribable, the tight feeling in your chest squeezing your heart like a vice alleviated with the news that Eddie was safe. Or at the very least not the dead Hawkins student they had been talking about on the news all morning.
“Then wh-?” You started to ask who when your voice cracked on the last syllable.
“Dunno, never seen her in my life,” he shrugged, scratching the back of his head. “Blonde, looked like she was wearing one of those cheer uniforms?”
“Oh,” you breathed in sad realisation. “Chrissy.”
“You know what she was doing here?” Wayne asked, he knew every one of Eddie’s friends that he trusted enough to bring into his home and none of them were the preppy type.
You took a step closer to Wayne, very aware of the amount of cops that surrounded you.
“He was selling her ketamine,” you whispered low enough that only he would hear.
“Oh, Eddie,” Wayne groaned, his fist digging into his eyes in an attempt to suppress the stress migraine he felt coming on as he shook his head in disapproval. “Eddie. Eddie. Eddie.”
He was aware of his nephew’s illegal business ventures and chose to turn a blind eye. The guilt of not being able to spare the money for Eddie to go out and treat himself always won over his moral compass, but he had no idea that these dealings were anything more than just marijuana. You peered over at the trailer, the door was left wide open. Against your better judgement you squinted to try and get a peek of what was going on inside. The acidic bile rose fast in your throat as your eyes landed on Chrissy. If it wasn’t for the cheer uniform you wouldn’t have even recognised her. From your limited view you could make out a heap of contorted limbs, bent and twisted in an inhuman way. What the fuck happened last night?
“Hey, hey,” Wayne tugged on your arm to snatch your attention away from the grizzly scene. “Don’t look at that.”
“He’s missing?” You asked bringing the subject back to Eddie, willing away the fresh wave of nausea that threatened to creep up at the sight of Chrissy lying on the floor like a pretzel.
You already knew the answer or he would have been here to hug you instead of his uncle.
“Uh huh,” Wayne confirmed, the anguish evident across his features. “I just hope he ran and got far enough away from whatever the hell did that.”
You nodded in agreement, you prayed he had run away. But why hadn’t he run to you? Was he hiding somewhere you knew? Or had he been taken by whatever had killed Chrissy? You couldn’t stop your building frustration as you wracked your brain for any place that he could have gone that was out of the public eye, suddenly seeming to forget every place you had ever visited with him. Wayne sensed your impending spiral.
“Go home kid,” he ordered, his hand squeezing your shoulder. “S’not gonna do you any good being ‘round here. Promise I’ll call you if I hear any news ‘Kay?”
You agreed to go home although somewhat reluctantly. You would be even more useless sitting on your ass at home worried sick than you were at the trailer park. You felt helpless either way but at least here you were more likely to be able to overhear any new information that was unveiled that may be able to help you find Eddie. Jumping back on your bike you headed back towards your house but not before making a couple of pit stops on the way. You had to pass the motel on your route anyway, you considered it a long shot since it was probably too public, plus if Eddie had run away in a panic you doubted he’d have enough cash on him to afford a room for the night. Nevertheless you slowed down as you passed, scanning the parking lot for his van with no luck. Next you took a slight detour into town towards Tony’s Tobacco, Eddie frequented the shop often to get his Camels on the cheap since he became friendly with the owner. Maybe he was hiding out in the back room or something.
“Hey, Tony,” you wheezed still out of breath from the overexertion, the ageing man behind the counter glanced up from his morning paper, squinting at you through his bifocals.
“Oh morning, sweet pea,” he greeted when he recognised you, his voice raspy from the years of heavy smoking. “What can I do for you? Eddie send you to pick up his usual?”
“You haven’t seen him then?” you visibly deflated.
“Not since last week,” Tony shook his head as he tried to recall when Eddie last called into the shop. “Is everything okay? That boy’s not got himself into trouble again has he?”
“No, no, erm I’m sure he’s just with one of the guys,” you lied, you didn’t want to get into a discussion about Eddie when you were still seconds away from a full emotional breakdown.
“Okay,” the older man accepted your words, sensing your agitation. “If he drops by I’ll let him know you’re looking for him.”
“Thanks, Tony,” you waved him goodbye before making your swift exit.
You headed home deciding it might be easier for you to think straight if you were sat by the phone, Wayne had promised he would call you if he had any updates. You headed to the bathroom to splash your face with some cold water, seeing your reflection for the first time that morning you winced as you took in your appearance. The circles beneath your eyes were darker than they had ever been before, the whites of your eyes bloodshot from the many shed tears. Your hair was like a bird's nest, knotted by the wind and your sweat, sticking up every which way. You fixed yourself up just enough that you didn’t look like the walking dead and headed down to the kitchen.
You switched the television back on and sat down at the table with a notepad and a pen. There was nothing new to report since the last time it had been on but you wanted it on in the background just in case. You flipped the pad to an empty page, the tip of your pen tapping the paper impatiently as you wracked your brain for a list of places Eddie might be hiding out.
Lover’s Lake
Skull Rock
There were a few hidden spots around the edges of Lover’s Lake he had often taken you to, while you couldn’t imagine him spending an entire night there with no shelter it was worth checking them out.
Sattler’s Quarry
Also not somewhere he could hide out long term but it was isolated enough that he could have gone there undetected while he figured out his next move.
Train tracks
It wasn’t long ago that Eddie had told you about a bunch of abandoned train cars on the tracks up by The Warzone, they could have provided him shelter for the night.
Your thoughts were interrupted by the shrill sound of the phone echoing throughout your small kitchen. You scrambled from your place at the table, chair legs screeching against the linoleum before it tipped back and crashed against the floor with the force of your movement.
“Hello?” You answered desperately, waiting for the gruff sound of Wayne’s drawl to answer you from the other side.
“Y/N!” The voice responded, not the voice you were expecting.
“Dustin?”
“Yeah hey, have you seen Eddie?” He asked, he sounded almost as desperate as you did.
“No, not since last night. Why? Do you have an idea where he might be?”
“No… No errrrm, never mind…” he stammered after a moment of hesitation.
“Dustin!” You pressed, sensing he was about to hang up on you. “Why are you looking for Eddie?”
“Notimportantsorrytobotheryoubye” the younger boy rushed out in what sounded like one word before the line clicked dead.
Not important? Not important? Your boyfriend probably witnessed an extremely gruesome murder in his home and hasn’t been seen or heard from since and this kid thinks he can just blow you off when he clearly knows something you don’t?
You didn’t have his number but you could tell he wasn’t at home, the hustle and bustle in the background and the brief snippet you caught of what sounded like Steve Harrington trying to chat up a customer told you he was at Family Video. You grabbed your keys and your bike and headed into town, determined to find out what the hell was going on.

PROPAGANDA
CORDELIA CHASE (BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER/ANGEL THE SERIES) (CW: Pregnancy)
1.) (downs an entire bottle of vodka and slams it back on the table) SO. CORDY. Cordy started off as a supporting character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. At the start she was your typical high school mean girl character, but as the show went on we got to see more depth to her character: her insecurities, her courage, her capacity for incredible acts of kindness. Then after the third season she moved into the show’s spin off, Angel, where from the beginning she was basically the show’s secondary protagonist. Her and Angel were the two mainstays of the show’s main cast, she gets the most episodes centered on her out of all the characters aside from Angel (and yes, I’ve checked), and we really got to see her grow from a very shallow and self-centered and kind of mean person to a true hero who was prepared to give up any chance at a normal life to fight the good fight while still never losing the basic core of her character. There were some… questionable moments like the episode where she gets mystically pregnant with demon babies and things got a bit iffy like halfway through season 3 where the writers seemed to run out of ideas for what to do with her outside of sticking her in this romance drama/love triangle situation with the main character but overall, pretty good stuff right? THEN SEASON 4 HAPPENED. In season 4 she gets stripped of literally all agency and spends pretty much the entire season possessed by an evil higher power, and while possessed she sleeps with Angel’s teenage son (who BY THE WAY she had helped raise as a baby before he got speed-grown-up into a teenager it was a whole thing don’t worry about it) and gets pregnant with like. the physical manifestation of the higher power that’s possessing her. it’s about as bad and stupid as it sounds and also is like the third time cordy’s got mystically pregnant in this show and like the fourth mystical pregnancy storyline overall (you will be hearing more on that note in other submissions I’m so sorry). after giving birth she goes into a coma, in which she remains for the rest of season 4 and the first half of season 5. SPEAKING OF WHICH DON’T THINK SEASON 5 IS GETTING OFF SCOT FREE HERE. yeah so in season 5 the show just FULLY starts trying to erase cordy’s existence. she gets mentioned ONCE in the first episode and then never again until halfway through the season where she wakes up, helps out Angel for a bit and encourages him in his fight against evil, and then goes quietly into that good night and dies so it can be all sad and tragic. I’d call it the worst fridging of all time but even THAT feels generous because the whole point of fridging is killing off a female character so a man can be sad, and after Cordy dies basically no one’s even sad about it because the show immediately goes back to pretending she never existed. she is not mentioned ONCE in the two episodes after she dies. in the whole stretch of time between her death and the end of the season she gets mentioned exactly four times. again, I counted. anyway the fun twist to all of this is that all of this happened because the actress who played cordy got pregnant before season 4 and joss whedon was so pissed off about this affecting his plans for the show that he decided to completely fuck over her character and then fire her and write her out of the show. so cordy’s a victim of both writing AND real life misogyny!! good times!!
2.) OH SO MANY THINGS they menaced by giving her terrible hair cuts, making her seem like she’d get together with the guy she loves (and who loves her back) but instead she was killed and when she was brought back, she got possessed by an evil entity who used her body to give birth to itself. afterwards she was in a long coma and died. her character was so throughoutly assassinated
3.) She got demonically pregnant TWICE - there was this real sense of a womb/ability to get pregnant as like, a place for evil to get in. She got positioned as femme fatale and evil mother. The actress basically got fired for being pregnant, and when she agreed to come back for a single final episode she specifically said they could do anything but kill off the character. Guess what happened
MISA AMANE (DEATH NOTE) (CW: Imprisonment, Torture)
1.) Misa is treated so phenomenally poorly by the writers of Death Note. She is devoted enough to Kira’s cause to sacrifice half her lifespan for the additional power to see people’s names just by seeing their faces (you need a face and a name to kill someone with the Death Note), and she takes the time to understand everything about it. She, a random civilian, is able to find Kira all by herself by being clever, and she’s very devoted to Kira and Kira’s cause. You would think this would earn her some respect and make her a force in the narrative in opposition both to L’s lawfulness and Light’s god complex (because Misa is a true believer, while Light is some dude with a god complex and a willingness to commit mass murder to further it), but no, the moment she meets Light she falls hopelessly in love with him (not just Kira according to her), pledges her loyalty to him, and agrees to mindlessly follow him, with her sole condition being that he can’t date other girls (and if he tried to, she’d kill the other girl; note how this is not a threat on LIGHT’S life) and has to date her and at least pretend to love her. You would think, again, that these would become problems that potentially fuck Light over, but they are mild inconveniences at best. And, despite her ability to find Kira and only get found out by bullshit trace DNA and pollen nonsense that she, again as a random civilian with no knowledge of forensics that honestly sound SO FAKE (really, trace pollen from something that is super rare and exists near her apartment but few other places? Trace pollen that got in the shit she put together INDOORS? Come on, that’s SUCH bullshit, and SO contrived), had no way of knowing existing. Because she DID circumvent all the ways she’d incriminate herself that a normal person would know about, but because they got her on the SMALLEST SHIT, they’re like “oh, she’s an idiot.” And it’s not in a “oh, look at these guys, underestimating her” way, it’s in an “oh yeah, they’re 100% right, she’s an idiot” way.
EVERYONE in universe regards her as an idiot, both when she’s just known as the Second Kira and once her identity has been found out. The creators in a bonus book rank her knowledge at 3/10 and her creativity at 4/10, which is SUCH bullshit when all of her plans (the few ones they let her have) make creative use of her powers and talents. Like, she sent a video into a tv station that contained a journal entry that had multiple dates on it, with one being clear bait for the police to approach, one being irrelevant, and one containing information that only someone with a Death Note would understand, and she uses this to indicate a time and place they should meet. Except she doesn’t meet him there, she dresses up in a plain outfit and wig that look NOTHING like her and sits and watches the crowd, waiting for someone to walk by who is missing the date of their death above their head (an indicator that that person has a Death Note), and then goes home and researches him online. That is objectively clever! Even if the cops were there, which they were, they would never notice her (and they didn’t) or figure out that she got the information she needed. HOW is that not creative? HOW does that support her being an idiot? Light tricked a woman (Naomi Misora, who deserves her own entry) into giving her his name one time in a way that almost gave him away, and that was regarded as sooooo clever, but this is stupid? Ohba, explain. Matsuda, who I love dearly but also who has never a plan half as clever or interesting as hers, gets knowledge at 4/10 and creativity at 5/10. It’s misogyny, there’s no other reason that makes sense.
And when her anonymous videos that she used to draw out Kira mention the shinigami and notebooks very subtly, in a way the police wouldn’t understand, Light is like “Second Kira, you IDIOT”, but meanwhile, when Light had a victim mention shinigami in a note written before they died for the sole purpose of fucking with L, the narrative is like “Oh, look at him, he’s so clever mentioning shinigami when L has no way of knowing how important and real they are.” The double standard of it all!
Also, ok, so, the reason L dies is because Misa’s shinigami Rem fell in love with her and wants to protect her, even if it results in Rem’s death (which it does because a shinigami dies if they kill someone for the purpose of saving someone else). However, Misa is not involved AT ALL in getting Rem to go through with this. Light manipulates Rem into doing it, and the fact that this also doesn’t bite him in the ass, even though Misa and Rem were friends, is INSANE. Their logic is clearly that obviously Misa would never rebel against Light because it’s not like she has an internal life and feelings outside of devotion to Light, and if she did, she couldn’t do anything because she’s an idiot, so it’s not worth exploring. God forbid she have agency and be a force in the narrative, even though it would make the story more interesting and complex. She doesn’t even need to be super smart for that! The creators THEMSELVES rank her social skills, charm, and initiative at 10/10, and she gets to use them all of one (1) time. They just keep not letting her do things, and it’s at the expense of their story EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Also, after this, she’s gives up her Death Note (which means she loses her memories involved with being a Death Note user) when Light tells her to, and then she’s just written out of the story, with the exception of her looking sexy, being a jealous girlfriend, and being implied to die, even though TWO shinigami died for her and thus gave her their lifespans. Yeah, she halved one of those, gained the other, then halved that again, but she should have gained more than a total of, like, eight years from that! But no, Light’s story is done, so why would Misa survive when he didn’t?
That’s not to mention the weird fetish-y way she was tied up when imprisoned. She wasn’t in her normal clothes that she had been apprehended in, no, she was put in this raggedy, white straightjacket-looking thing, with a blindfold and her arms crossed over her and fastened behind her back. She was kept on some slab and set upright for FIFTY DAYS. Like, look at this shit:
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Light, who was also imprisoned, kept his regular clothes and only had his arms tied behind his back normally. The only difference in the powers they were assumed to have is that she could kill with just a face. So why the weird outfit, huh, Ohba, Obata? And, like, they sell FIGURES OF IT in the real world, people can BUY her in this outfit and DISPLAY it, and it is CLEARLY because they think some Death Note fans would find it arousing. And if the whole show was just fetish shit in all directions, then, sure, fine, go for it, but it is JUST her in this moment! And, like, if it was supposed to show something about L and how he’s kinda fucked up like that, you would think it would, like, come up again or something but it gets a fleeting mention ONCE and then THAT IS IT. Why do this, literally why??? Like, how high did they get off their own misogyny to come up with this?
I just. I can’t with how they treat Misa, I CANNOT. Like, I know they love to jerk off Light and talk about he’s sooooo smart and clever and charming, but this goes beyond putting her down because they want to lift him up. They put her in to cause some chaos a couple of times, pull some fetish shit, provide the method for killing L (but not do it herself or even play any active role at all in it), and then they’re done with her. She’s a convenient tool to the writers, not a character, unlike most of the male characters whose emotional reactions to Light’s bullshit come back to haunt him. For example: the way his responsibility for his father’s death and his dismissal of his father during his big confession lead Matsuda, who had liked Light but had a stronger emotional connection to his dad, to shoot him in a way that stops Light from using his Death Note scrap to get out of being surrounded after being definitively revealed to be Kira. And like, I love that moment for Matsuda, it’s great, my favorite scene in the whole show, but why don’t Misa’s emotions and bonds get to drive her to action in a way that is inconvenient to Light? Fine, she has unending devotion, why not have THAT do anything either? And it’s because this is the same type of treatment all the female characters in Death Note get (although Misa gets it worse by a country mile), being a POTENTIAL to MILD problem for Light and/or a person to use the Death Note in his place but little else, or someone to get kidnapped, it makes it clear that Misa’s treatment here is due to misogyny that infects the whole text, and it just. It rankles.
2.) Despite having the potential to be an interesting character (unhinged death note who doesn’t have excuses for killing people like Light does, actual connection to her Shinigami), she just gets reduced to Light’s plaything and fangirl, literally keeling over backwards for him. She ends up having nothing to do in the story, being reduced to this hollow shell of what she could have been, with her only personality trait being that she’s obsessed with Light, even after he routinely ignores her and even cheats on her. Every woman in Death Note gets put on the sidelines so the male characters can take the spotlight, but Misa easily has the biggest wasted potential of any of them.
3.) Left as flat, annoying, and obsessed with a guy who treats her badly the entire series. Could have had a lot more development but she just gets treated like an idiot at every turn despite HER INTRODUCTION including a pretty clever plan actually. As the series goes on it feels like they make her less and less intelligent just to justify why she’s keeping the exact same dynamic with light. Honestly the more i think about it the weirder that gets.
I don’t think it’s a problem in itself to have a character who isn’t especially intelligent or is easily manipulated or is an obsessive fan, and you can make really interesting stories using characters with those traits. But DN just did not do that, and honestly I think if Misa was written a bit smarter (not necessarily super detective chess nonsense smart, just having actual fucking agency and being able to come up with plans of her own) the series would be way better for it. You get a whole new dimension to the conflicts and scheming if she’s acting on her own terms, or trying to help and doing something unexpected, or just generally having another character with a death note and complicated ties to the main characters and actual human agency. Like even STAYING obsessed with Light she could have been so much more and the specifics of her motivations could be explored in more interesting detail than just making her a rabid fangirl even having spent enough time with the object of her obsession that the dynamic should have evolved.
She’s in a classic of the “so misogynistic it turned out gay” genre and like good for the gays i guess but holy shit she got done so dirty. She deserved better and DN would have been not only better in the “don’t be a jerk towards entire groups of people” sense but also probably better as a drama intrigue situation if the authors had a crumb of respect for her.
Also due to the story events she’s set to die pretty young and this is barely addressed? It’s a sidenote really and a lot of people die but Rem is the only one who gives a shit and their reaction is not focused on for long. I will not start about her and Rem because that will make this much much longer and is relevant more to why i like Misa than to why she got fucked over. (But hey it’s kinda fucked that she definitely did have people who supported and cared for her and they all got stripped away and it’s not even played as fucked up that this woman has no support network save for one guy who would kill her in a heartbeat if he thought it would help him and also that Misa can’t fully see the people who do care about her until it’s too late and this is never played as dark and serious in a series that thrives on being dark)
It’s just really really obvious that the authors do not see or write her as a person.
tl;dr SHE’S THE SECOND FUCKING KIRA and she gets treated like a PROP for most of the story. gets downgraded to scenery actually later in the story
actual tl;dr: introduced with an interesting plan and motivations worth exploring, slowly has her undeveloped personality steamrollered further and is treated like a tool and a prop for the rest of the series.

Note
I just found some Hazbin Hotel leaks, pre-being pick up by A24 and, do you know we could have had an episode where Charlie meets all the Deadly Sins? We were absolutely robbed of a pretty good filler episodes before the big finale with heaven.
Here's link to the leaks: https://imgur.com/a/nCorcZq
In case the link doesn't work, you can also look at this tumblr post: https://www.tumblr.com/hellaverse-critical-confessions/727383242254204928/hello-the-pre-a24-leaks-anon-again-heres-link?source=share
I really hope they use some of this old concepts on the next season cause they seem quite funny and interesting. Those ideas could help flush the characters out a bit more and the worldbuilding. What do you think?
Me writing notes while reading the leaks:
Tumblr media
OOOH HOO WE GOT SOME WONDERFUL CHARACTER INSIGHTS! Especially with Husk!
“Angel and Charlie drag Husk out to a carnival show to show him the not-so-sleazy side of life. This proves difficult with Husk being raised to know nothing but crime and no experience with innocent fun.”
Husk has no experience with innocent fun. He only knows the sleazy side of life T.T Also he has mob connections 👀That is good to know. I find that so, so interesting. It explains it grim outlook on life. Why he's hardly every smiling or having fun. I think one of the first times we actually see him smile is after fighting those shark demons with Angel Dust in "Masquerade."
Now that I'm thinking about it, he smiles a lot more after that. Or, at least from what I remember. I might need to rewatch the show (for the dozenth time, LMAO). But, that kind also goes to show how much this guy needs friends. Good relationships. Connections outside of crime, which is all he's known all his life.
I WANT HUSK TO HAVE PURE, DUMB FUN AND TO LAUGH AND SMILE AND IM SOBBING JUST THINKING ABOUT IT
Also love delving more into Vaggie too. How she's incredible responsible, but controlling. After reading through a few of the episode description about her, my personal headcanon/take is that she still has a bit of that "angels are superior" mindset in the way that when she challenges Maxine, she's quickly reminded of her own limits when she's defeated "very easily." It's like what Carmilla was saying in the show. The angels are arrogant in their fighting. They leave themselves open, they're brash, and uncoordinated because they're not used to fighting demons who can actually fight back.
As far as we've seen, all of their victims are regular demons. None of the Overlords. Well, except Carmilla that one time, and she'd taken down the Exorcists with relative ease because she knows how to fight, and she's powerful. Given that this is the first time an Exorcist has been killed, and the first time we hear about an Overlord being attacked during the Extermination, I assume not a lot of Exorcists come face to face with the Overlords.
So, this kind of brash arrogance still lingering in Vaggie, who see's a demon talking down to her and automatically challenges them to a fight, only to lose immediately. Then her falling back into her insecurities that if she's not able to protect/fight for something/someone, than she's useless (which is ANOTHER thing she's learned from her time as an Exorcist angel--if she's unable to fight for the cause, what use does she have?). It's like this double-edged sword, and I'm rahhhhhh I'm gnawing on it.
ALSO ALSO, getting not only one annual event held in Hell, but TWO! "Hells Weapons Exo," (which I like to think Vox co-hosts with Carmilla, as she is a weapons manufacturer, and Vox is the guy to go to if you're looking to sell/buy something. Also, Vox HAS to have a showmanship side of him. Like, a legitimate showy, entertainer side--which I also like to think is what brought him and Alastor together before their, uh, falling out.)
Their second event being "Challenge Day" where lower tiered demons can challenge higher tiered demons for control over souls? I interpreted this in two ways, 1) challenging a higher tiered demon for the souls they already own, or 2) challenging the person who owns your soul as a way to get it back - both of which I really like. It actually fits really well with some of the world-building I've been doing for the last few days, so I am eating it up.
ALSO THE FACT THAT THERE'S A ROYAL BALL HELD AFTER "CHALLENGE DAY." My RadioApple brain LATCHED onto that so quickly. Imagine Lucifer taking Alastor to the royal ball as his date T.T I wanna see them all dressed up fancy, and I want them to dance, and dsofslknjljblkjbj FUUUUUUCK
Thank you SO Much for sending me this! I am soaking up these lore pieces like a sponge.
It also mentions Angel and Charlie taking Husk to a carnival show, which makes me wonder if there are places like carnivals open in Pentagram City, or if it's similar to the traveling circus thing Blitz grew up in. Like, do hellborn demons who doing travelling circus/carnivals just go through all the rings, one-by-one, including the Pride Ring? That way the Sinners get to get in on it too? AH! I just love thinking about it.
Thank you thank you I am feasting so much right now.
(THIS ALSO MAKES ME SO UPSET ABOUT STUDIOS LIMITING SERIES DOWN TO 8-10 EPISODES A SEASON, WE COULD'VE GOTTEN SO MUCH CONTENT AND WORLD BUILDING IF THEY'D GIVEN VIVZIE AND HER TEAM A PROPER SEASON TO BUILD IT ALL UP AND GRRRRRRRR)
Oh, also, I just realized I didn't answer your original question about the Sins, GOD I wish we got that. I want to see Charlie interacting with all the Sins so badly. Though, I suppose with Amazon not really owning Hazbin Hotel, where all the Sin's have been showing up, I wonder if they'd be able to do an episode like at all.
I don't know. Things to think about.
But to sum up! Thank you so much for this! I know this answer kind of went on long LOL, but you have given me so much brain food and I am eternally grateful 🙏

Yknow, at first, when I saw the latest episode, I had been a bit disappointed with the route that they took Simon and Betty's romance; but after thinking it over quite a bit, I think I appreciate the route they took, despite how differently it makes me see the characters. Sometimes, the right thing for a story isn't always the best thing, just like how in life, not everyone makes the right choices all the time. Emotions make life beautiful, but they also muddle things up.
I've never been one for a teacher x student type romance. That whole power imbalance always leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Since Simon was just a guest speaker, it wasn't quite the same, but I think a lot of people, including myself, saw those parallels. But, I think the whole idea of unhealthy/obsessive/codependent love has always been centeral to their relationship.
Unlike some may assume, the unhealthiness doesn't stem from that part, though. Yes, there's a small age gap. Yes, Simon made a ton of mistakes. But with further analysis, nothing about it is painted as your stereotypical incredibly unhealthy teacher/student ship. Instead, it's their issues and strengths that create chaos.
There's nothing about their relationship that can be considered grooming, and I say this as someone who's personally been groomed. They didn't get into a relationship until after Betty tried to leave the second time, and there's absolutely nothing about Simon that screams "predator." You know how he is with Marcy and Finn, and pretty much every child he comes in contact with (when he isn't throwing away their favorite books). Hell, even Ice King had standards and lines he wouldn't cross. Their issues stem from their insecurities as professional nerds, and as two broken, lonely, people.
When you're a student, especially one who's passionate about the subject matter you're learning about, you can't help but put your teachers (the good ones, I mean), on a pedestal. They're these untouchable gods who have somehow cracked the answers to questions you haven't even asked yet and who are there to guide you. And as a teacher, you want nothing more than to see a student thrive, be happy, and enjoy your lessons. There's nothing more satisfying than seeing your student take your lesson, and run with it, and go farther than you ever could. From the start, these two towed the lines of codependency.
Simon was laughed at by his fellow professors and other archeologists for believing that the Enchiridion existed; which couldn't have been a good feeling as a professional. Sure, after the expedition with Betty, he was rewarded with all the glory one could wish for; but that isolation must've been horrible. He must've been seen along the same veins as the "Ancient Aliens" guys, as a crackpot conspiracy theorist, barely deserving of his PHD. I can imagine just how much of a relief it'd be to have someone so brilliant as Betty agree with your findings, and be willing to help you prove once and for all, that you aren't crazy.
Betty seemed to struggle with connecting with her peers. I'm mostly gathering this from how willing she was to sacrifice everything for Simon, I'd bet he was the only genuine close relationship, romantic or otherwise, that she had. We (or at least I) don't know much about Betty's backstory, but I think at least that much can be surmised. In Ep 8 FC, she mentions her mother, and in season 9 or 10, we see her calling someone before she met Simon... But, that's about all we have for close relationships. How many people would you jump through a portal for? Become god for? Sacrifice your sanity for? To have someone you admire, think that you're basically the strongest, bravest person they ever met in the world and to actually be needed by them... From what we know about Betty, she definitely had a savior complex of some sorts. Happens to the best of us, but still. She got so used to sacrificing things for Simon that she never thought about going back to Australia with him to continue her study, or both studying different things together, just helping him.
They both gave each other what the world deprived them of: validation, love, and respect. But because neither of them had anyone else to rely upon, to provide them with those bare necessities, they became unhealthy for one another. Neither of them has truly lived without the other because they were eachothers home. Their food, water, and shelter.
So, in a lot of ways, I think it was for the best they added this extra layer. It helps you truly understand the imperfections of their relationship, just how desperate both of them were as two nerdy little archeologists, to find and keep the love they had alive.

I feel like y’all are sleeping on the canonically-overlapping timeframes between It Chapter 1 & Stranger Things.
Will goes missing in early November (aka fall) of 1983. It Chapter 1 takes place 1988-1989, with Georgie going missing October 1988, and all the action taking place the subsequent summer.
The summer of 1989 would be when the Party graduates high school, you guys.
Wouldn’t it be interesting if Ted Wheeler had a sister, Maggie Tozier, perhaps? Finn Wolfhard has said that Richie and Mike wouldn’t get along, and Mike being frustrated with his dipshit little cousin is hilarious to me.
There are already crossover fics existing—ones that make Mike & Richie twins, ones that have Richie as the elder cousin, lots of ones that have Richie sent to live with/visit the Wheelers in Hawkins—but none I’ve seen that take the timeline into account, none with Mike as the elder cousin, and few that primarily take place in Derry.
What about, instead, starting post-season 4, with Karen Wheeler? The Wheelers are incredibly flawed, as parental figures go, but the end of season 4 leaves off with them seeming to pay more attention to the dangers in their children’s lives. Perhaps Karen Wheeler, newly wise to the supernatural dangers of Hawkins, sends Mike and Holly to live with their cousins in Derry for their own good? Hawkins is practically a ghost town, after all… Nancy’s over 18, Karen can’t control her—but she can protect her younger two, at least.
Perhaps it’s discovered that Mike was a target of Vecna, and the party, on edge and traumatized after Max, advocates for him to move away, where he’ll be safe, unintentionally heightening Mike’s feelings of uselessness (but he knows he could be useful, if they’d just listen this time, if they’d just let him stay… he feels sick thinking it, but also sickeningly justified in it, too: if he’d been in hawkins when they went for vecna that first time, max would be awake, and eddie would be alive. Mike could’ve done better, he just knows it, if only he’d been there to plan, he would’ve done better than the harebrained scheme nancy threw together, nearly getting max killed, and he only just made up with will, and eddie is dead, and he cant leave now—).
(It’s interesting to explore how mike sometimes simultaneously overconfident & incredibly insecure, as well as his (mis?)perception of himself, nancy, etc. Another interesting theme to explore here is the concept of usefulness, and how that does or does not factor into being loved and having value. Mike is useful, Mike is a leader… but by taking away Mike’s opportunities to express these things, it forces Mike to contend with his own self-worth and how he values himself, and his feelings on having to be “useful” in relationships relationships/to be loved (see: she doesn’t need me, mike’s van ramblings on lois lane, etc).
On top of that…what if Ted died fighting the upsidedown, protecting his children, and Karen shuffles the kids off to Derry shortly thereafter? Maybe she stays with Mike and Holly in Derry, but maybe she doesn’t stay forever—perhaps she returns to Hawkins to try and defend her wayward, rebellious eldest, Nancy, fighting at her daughters’ side and avenging her late husband. So Mike is left to grapple with the loss of his father mostly on his own, though Aunt Maggie and Uncle Went do their best. Perhaps it’s made worse by the fact that, just as his parents seemed to be doing better, to be caring, one got himself killed and the other abandoned them. In their attempts to “do better” they both—well, they don’t. Frankly, mike preferred when they didnt pay attention at all. At least they were all alive, and mike was with the people he loved. Will he have to forgive them, now? His father and his last-minute heroics, as though that makes up for a lifetime of distance; his mother and her grief, deciding that acknowledging her failures as a parent means giving up all hopes of being a better one?
(Themes? Forgiveness, parents, the impacts parents have on their children, etc.)
And on top of all of that, now he’s stuck in this shitty, homophobic town, one that isn’t all that different from his shitty, homophobic hometown, except that missing children are mundane here and most of the people he loves are miles away. Oh, and also it’s cold as fuck, because he’s in Maine, and he has to share a room with his shitty little cousin, Richie.
Mike is abruptly shoved into the same position El was—he’s dealing with a lot of shit at school, but why the hell would he tell el about it, with everything she’s dealing with in hawkins?? El had it worse in Lenora, apparently—given the way she reacted when he tried to compare their experiences with bullying.
(This isn’t entirely accurate, isn’t reflective of the intention behind El’s statement or the reason she reacted to Mike the way she did, merely a way Mike might internalize and interpret and be affected by El’s response to him talking about his experiences with bullying in season four.)
Reconstructing cerebro on the roof without dustin sucks. Being unable to communicate with the people he loves would suck more, though, and telephone lines are never private, no matter who’s listening in (nosey aunts and cousins or government agents on their side or government agents decidedly NOT on their side—it doesn’t matter. They don’t get to spy, because it’s not of their goddamn business).
(At least he and will are talking. Every other night, practically. Mike climbs out of the window of his shared bedroom, sits on the roof next to his Cerebro, and talks and talks and talks with will until the sky gets light. They discuss the latest new of the upsidedown, their friends, will’s connection to all of it, their families. Will is the only person mike tells, honestly, about what it’s like in Derry. They talk about light things too—plan campaigns they know they’ll never get to play, talk about comics and gossip about annoying siblings & cousins. When the Little Shop of Horrors movie comes out, they watch it separately & then talk about it together. Overall, they’re making a better go of it than the last time they tried long distance.)
(The cognitive disconnect for mike between what he’s experienced, what his friends have experienced, and the relatively mundane (for now) evils of derry high school might be interesting to explore, too.)
Life continues in this vein for about 2 years. The upsidedown & vecna aren’t fully resolved, but things are at a kind of stalemate, at least.
And then, in 1988, Georgie Denbrough goes missing.
(If you made it to the end of this long-ass post, congrats, man. I figure i’ll tag @wibble-wobbegong since i know he was/is v into stephen king? If you’re reading this, hi wibble! Idk this plot bunny has been dancing in my head. If anybody has thoughts, or different directions they wanna springboard off from this, i’d love to hear ab it lol. I think imma tag this on “wheeler in derry” for my own organization. If i elaborate ill probably tag it there)

the difference between The Painted Lady and Sokka’s Master—what makes one so much more iconic than the other—is that The Painted Lady may as well be Imprisoned (season one), just done-up in Fire Nation attire. we learn nothing new about katara in that ep that we didn’t know from season one. and The Desert in season two CEMENTED katara as the heart of the group in a way that wasn’t even necessary to try to do again in season three.
Sokka’s Master, on the other hand, gives us a whole new look at sokka. Imprisoned and The Warriors of Kyoshi (in season one) are katara and sokka eps respectively, meant to give us a look into their characters and acquaint ourselves with them. season two is incredible because it assumes we already know the characters, and it lets us sit in them and enjoy the ride for amazing arcs through Story, above all else. but early season three brings back the Character episodes. the Headband, Painted Lady, Sokka’s Master, the Runaway (and as a bonus, unlike season one, we also get The Beach for the FN team). each main character gets their own re-establishing ep. great, cool, whatever—what about Sokka’s Master tho?
shhh patience lol i’m getting there. Painted Lady shows that katara is the same, she still cares about the lil guy(s), despite all else, just like she did in Imprisoned. she can’t leave desperate people behind.
but in The Warriors of Kyoshi, sokka thought he was the Shit, and had to have it proved to him that that wasn’t the case (god bless u suki). in Sokka’s Master, however, it’s the exact opposite. his arc at that point brought him to having nearly no faith in himself. Warriors of Kyoshi was about bringing sokka down to earth (being A MAN💪🏽 isn’t the end all be all), and Sokka’s Master is about bringing him back up (what does it mean to be a man? 🌈). it’s obviously a huge shame that the invasion ended up sitting him right back down again in his insecurities. but i imagine if Sokka’s Master had never happened, he wouldn’t have been able to bounce back post-Boiling-Rock, regardless of whether or not he’d successfully broken his dad (and suki) out. he needed the foundation of self-confidence to beat away the doubts later.
anyways, point is.. at least personally the Painted Lady ep has never stuck out to me as special, whereas Sokka’s Master is one of my fave eps of the show. and that’s not because i have it out for katara or anything and held sokka in especially high regard (Sokka’s Master is largely WHY i now hold sokka in high regard—but The Desert ep put katara in just as high a regard in my book, along w probs a dozen other eps that showcase her unique character). Sokka’s Master stands out because it shows us a new part of sokka, but the Painted Lady doesn’t show us anything new about katara. in a show that’s ultimately rather short, episodes that seem like clones the way Painted Lady & Imprisoned do end up feeling lackluster. idk. this isn’t to say i dislike the Painted Lady, i just wanted to get my thoughts out

More Ted Lasso Musings
Before I start let me say once again that this season has contained absolutely wonderful moments and is still a wonderful bit of light in a buuuuunch of darkness. Also spoiler warning.
Cool, so I've figured out what's bothering me this season and its that they're either showing us everything and telling us nothing, or showing us nothing (of actual character significance) and telling us everything. in the showing us everything and telling us nothing category we've got my love Keeley Jones. I feel like we've spent a massive amount of time at KJPR and I still feel like I'm scratching my head as to what they were trying to tell us. They've set Keeley up to be this incredibly competent and bright person, and when they give her her shot it all goes to shit. and I get it "you can't always get what you want" so says the song for this season's trailer, but I'm struggling to understand the thing that she got that she needed that she didn't already have. She had Rebeccas love and support, I mean she has Roy back but this does not seem like the show where the moral of a long story about her starting her own business is that she has her boyfriend back. I actually would love people's take on what you think we're supposed to get out of Keeley's storyline.
Onto the telling but not showing category we got my guy Nate the Great. He has been so totally short changed this season on his redemption arc. It is HARD to become a better person. It is HARD to admit you fucked up. It is HARD to turn against your own knee jerk insecurities and reactions. It is ESPECIALLY HARD to do that in an environment that is actively incentivizing you to act on those insecurities and reactions. So even though I absolutely believe Nate deserving and capable of these huge leaps forward in overcoming his own internal crap, I think we've completely sidelined that narrative of what's pushing him to actually take those huge leaps forward. At the end of season 2, it was clear Nate was really struggling, and I'm not gonna lie I hated the way he treated those around him, like Beard said it was "personal, and weird" but I also felt a huge amount of sympathy and compassion because no one gets that way without something horrible happening to them first. So when the last scene of season 2 happened and he was teased as this big time villain, I was sad, but not surprised. I expected him to get his redemption, but I also expected that to be a really difficult journey for him where he was likely going to get worse before he got better. So now we're in season 3 and he suddenly just makes all these huge leaps forward, they feel from out of nowhere, not because I don't feel like he's capable of it, but rather that should've been more difficult to do, and also it should've been a moment of great personal triumph for Nate! The way I think of it is imagine if Rebecca had just waltzed into teds office in season 1 and confessed about the sabotage with no context. Sure we would've believed her capable of it, sure we would've believed she deserved forgiveness, but we all would've been scratching our heads as to what made her have this reckoning within herself. they would've told us Rebecca changed instead of shown why and how she changed like what they're doing with Nate.
I actually think there's so many parallels between the relationship of Nate and Jade and the relationship of Roy and Jamie. Both Nate and Roy made stupidly bad and self destructive decisions around the end of last season. Both are in a low point in their emotional journeys, almost all of Nathan's emotional scenes have been with Jade while all of Roy's emotional scenes have been with Jamie. The thing is, that's not where their respective internal work really needs to get done? Nate already took the plunge and asked out Jade last season, and Roy already showed real vulnerability when he hugged Jamie after the thing with his dad (not that I think that means everything wrapped up with a shiny bow or anything, but just that each character has much bigger fish to fry in terms of character growth) I do think Nate and Jade have become really cute just as Roy and Jamie's scenes have felt ripped straight out of a fluffy fanfic. but do these scenes actually show us that Nate/Roy are getting better? We've already seen Nate being an absolute sweetheart with the women in his life who he loves, his mother, his niece (even if we didn't actually see her till this season it was clear that they had a very warm and positive relationship) and Keeley, so him being able to be vulnerable and open up with Jade is lovely, but not really that new of a territory. If we could just see Nate having a shift maybe with his coaching staff or the West Ham players, this would feel more meaningful because we saw him struggle way more with people he perceives as part of his own hierarchy structure. Its the same with Roy. We've seen Roy open up to Jamie in the past so their relationship, while fucking adorable, is not doing anything to address the real struggle inside Roy that he's ignoring. It would be way more meaningful to see Roy have moments where he chooses to have joy instead of running away. Instead we get scenes like where the sports pundit squad just says oh by the way Nate left West Ham, in the same way that Ms. Bowen says to Roy that he seems less stuck. Umm what? Since when? what happened? All tell and no show. Or showing only the least character growth relevant scenes and then just be like oh by the way they fixed it.
reblog and comment away because I'm interested in people's take on this.

Hi, hello, hi. I have a question that was triggered by that beautiful prom gif set you just reblogged. And since I still, months later, have a post from you stuck in my head- The Brian Kinney one about his education and how he became The Brian Kinney- I can’t help but to ask you. The pause!!! What do you think would’ve happened between Britin and with Brian after prom had the bashing not happened? I mean Brian got in the car and was all smiley and looking in the mirror to watch Justin!! And the PAUSE! And now I am going through a million feelings because of the what ifs.
Hello dear sweet anon! Thank you for your patience while I gave this question some thought.
First off, let us acknowledge and thank @sophsun1 for this incredible gifset that captures THEE MOMENT
Everyone go reblog it and show it some love.
So I think the first question here is why did Brian show up at prom? I think he showed up to make Justin happy. Which is not something Brian is known for, right? But here is this kid who has "snuck in under the wire" (I know that's S2 but it's no less true here) and Brian wants to do something to make him happy. Just purely for his happiness. And it will make Brian happy - you pointed out he's all smiley - and isn't that the kicker? He found someone that making him happy makes Brian happy. Not Justin makes Brian happy (little nod to my beloved OFMD, RIP), but making Justin happy makes Brian happy. I think that's important.
I think what Brian is communicating here (and, importantly, Justin is understanding) is those three words that Justin spent later seasons wanting so badly.
So I think Justin would have felt more reassured in Brian's love than he did in S2. I think he always wanted to feel like his place was with Brian and of Brian's own volition. I know Brian says during their negotiation about "coming home to you" but I think that gets lost in Brian's tugging to keep some of his freedoms.
I think Brian would be less trigger shy about doing romantic gestures for Justin after prom. I think prom proved to Brian his worst fears - if you make yourself vulnerable and admit to loving someone, it will only hurt you (and what's the best way to hurt Brian? Hurting Justin).
I think Justin would have been more confident about his place in Brian's life both feeling like he was truly wanted there (not just there because he got bashed) and because he had this irrefutable proof of Brian's feelings. Yes, he's heard about the romantic dance and the kiss from Daphne but she wasn't by the Jeep and I don't know if she would have picked up on the significance of The Pause.
Let's talk about that, actually. When has Brian ever paused? When has he ever, in a sexual context, sought someone's eyes before kissing them? (Not to imply that Brian didn't get consent.) Never. He is not the type of guy to pause. He barrels forward. I don't think the pause is insecurity or even about consent, it's "we're on the same page here, right? okay? All those things you said that I felt, you were right. Here I am, baring myself before you you, more naked than being naked (bc lbr naked is not vulnerability to Brian... it wouldn't be to me if I looked like Gale either), showing you my soul. I am trusting you."
The reason this took so long to answer is that I'm completely torn about whether there would have been a break up. Or at least the Ethan break up. Maybe the break up would have looked more like a combination of S2 and S5 break ups. But the other thing? I don't think they would have reunited. I think the bashing is something that ties them together, in a sense. I think without it, with everything more on the surface, without the effects of PTSD on Justin's abilities and his need for Brian's care (and Brian's care bonding him to Justin), Justin would have thought "this is all there is, I've gotten everything I can from him and I need more." But I could be wrong, maybe there would have been zero drama. Justin would have gotten what he needed from Brian the night of prom and they would have lived happily ever after.
This is certainly a fic waiting to be written. I've read fics where the bashing doesn't happen or it's less severe but that's because other circumstances are different. What would happen if canon is canon but the one divergence is the bashing doesn't happen?

ROTTMNT theory time :)))
Spoilers for the entire series + movie
This is pure speculation and fun, and will only be supported by the lore of ROTTMNT not any other show.
So basically I’ve been trying to figure out how these badass overpowered mystic powers work because it’s more confusing than any fandom lore I’ve read so here’s a theory about that + a little more thoughts on mystic powers as a whole
One big point before I go all out on this theory, anyone can have mystic powers. They can be human, mutant, yokai, even the Kraang, all living beings can harness mystic powers with the correct training. This is slightly proven by Warren Stone being able to use an mystic stone without problems, April and Cassandra being able to use Aprils mystic Bat, and when April gets hamato ghost possessed by Karai.
So let’s get on with the main theory.
In the final episode, “Rise” Big Mama reveals something crucial to the show as a whole that the fandom didn’t really know about(due to the second season being hard to watch). When the turtles need her help to find out where Shredder has taken Splinter and Draxum, she says
“To harness a life force you would need the source of all yokai power, enperian”
Then when Shredder finds this ‘enperian’ it’s revealed that it came from a single Kraang who died either in battle or from crashing into the Crying Titan
Tumblr media
From what we can concur, the Yokai (from Big mama be know “We yokai have existed for thousands of eons”) must have evolved from the blood/engine fuel from the dead Kraang. This being the very source of all mystic magic, but than what is Ninpo? I believe it’s just an technique that the Hamato clan learned to fight the Shredder. (Similar to demon slayer, how humans have found ways to defeat demons with ancient arts if you need a comparison)
Another point about mystic magic, is that it cant directly be accessed without unlocking it. I think weapons at the beginning of the series are more like a catalyst for the turtles to harness their inner power.
The weapons only unlock a small part of the turtles real power, such as Leo’s portals becoming twin katanas that teleport wherever the other is, Mikey’s “wip”becoming nunchucks that can extend and light on fire, and Raphs force fields becoming a lot bigger and durable. We’ll talk Donnie in a minute because he’s a special case. But thanks to the mystic weapons the turtles learn and adapt to their powers and train themselves around them.
“What about you, Donnie? Don’t you want a glow-y weapon?”
“No, I’m good. I’ll never let you go.”
It’s made clear from the first episode Donnie is the most reluctant about “mystic magic.”
Tumblr media
Even if he’s against the emphasis on mystic magic, he doesn’t try and stop it entirely, he more try’s to find a way to make sense of it. In the episode “Donnie vs Witchtown” (or Hidden City Adventures II) he’s very adamant on being against the whole idea of something he can’t explain.
Tumblr media
“Because, I’m the Science Guy! If mystic powers can do everything I can do but better, than why would you guys even need me?”
The whole “being insecure about your role on the team thanks to something that you can’t avoid” might have been dragged out a bit more in the series(if a certain company didn’t cut the second season in half and postponed the show). But Donnie being insecure, is the driving reason his mystic powers were so delayed. It’s hard for Donnie to accept mystic magic but when he finally does his powers start to awaken.
So these powers are awaken through acceptance, possible training, and a catalyst for those powers? Not exactly, but you’re on the right track.
We have to look in the future to understand how to trigger these powers. It’s seen in the first few minutes of the ROTTMNT movie how powerful F!Mikey mystic powers have grown. Even Casey Jr. awes at his powers and through his description of F!Mikey we know he was incredibly powerful.
Tumblr media
“You are the most powerful mystic warrior the world has ever known. With those two hands, you send me back in time”
F!Mikey is even foreshadowed in the first episode of the show. When the turtles lose April after she tried to save Mayhem, it’s Mikey who recognizes the hidden city symbol from splinters “do not touch shelf”
Tumblr media
“Oh, hey! I’ve seen this before! In fact, we all have.”
It’s Mikey who assessed the portal to the hidden city
Tumblr media
"How about we let the artist of the crew take a poke at it?"
And Mikey is the first of the turtles to awaken his weapon the ‘Kusari-fundo Nunchaku.’
Tumblr media
"Whoa. Magic weapon”
That begs the question, why exactly is it Mikey who’s the Badass mystic warrior? Why couldn’t it be Donnie or Raph, maybe even Leo? What separates Mikey from his brothers that makes him so powerful in the future?
Out of all his brothers Mikey does have one big attribute that his brothers all lack in, his ability to be vulnerable, and being in touch with his emotions. His biggest strength and weakness is his empathy and emotional intelligence, unlike his brothers whom are very dishonest with their emotions and problems. It’s seen thought the show his emotions and feelings land him into difficult circumstances and often get him in trouble without one of his brothers to to stop him from getting hurt.
Tumblr media
“Look, Mikey, repo men have to be mean, and I don’t know if you know this, but you’re kind of a softie."
"That really hurts my feelings! Oh, you have a point. But I can do this. Hard as nails.”
Tumblr media
“I heard something.”
“A model train. Simple answer.”
So with his more open mind and emotional vulnerability his mystic powers grew. This could also support the real reason Donnie could really use his powers. He’s the most emotionally distant of the brothers, being so uneducated on them he doesn’t know some of the basic emotions that people feel.
So in conclusion, mystic powers come from a lot of different things. They can be awaken though the acceptance that magic truly exists. They can be harnessed through a catalyst that enables the user control over them. And the thing that triggers and fuels them are emotions. Plus spending years training them will result in you basically becoming Dr. Strange.
Tumblr media
Yes very confusing but if you want more evidence then you can just watch season 1 and the movie and pay attention to their mystic powers.
But that’s just a theory, a Rise theory!

hi hi hi so remember when people were sending in lesbian fic recs and someone (me) sent in the ask about the shadowhunter chronicles (the first ask)? so they're taking the show off hulu in two days, so i finally decided to watch it and see if it's really as bad as i've heard and holy shit i need to vent (feel free to delete this as soon as you see it. the show fandom is bigger than the book fandom and I'm kinda scared of them lol).
remember me talking about the aroace character erasure? not only did they make him date a straight character, he's enabling her drug addiction (and he's a vampire so he's drinking her blood and developing his own addiction) that she didn't have in the books. if she just had an addiction, i wouldn't really care because that was an aspect in a different series concerning a different character (and if they'd done it right, it could've been a good representation of addiction), but to take a character that should be queer (and an underrepresented identity within lgbtq+ spaces no less) and misrepresent their character so badly...i just dont get the point. plus, they keep finding excuses to minimize her role in the show when she had a very powerful and main part in the books as a fighter and as one of the main character's best friends (and one of the main character's female friends which in the books was a great representation of female friendships)
additionally, the main character, a woman, has had barely any scenes without a boy in it either as a love interest, protector, or both, when in the books she was incredibly headstrong and independent, and they're making a big part of her character arc a love triangle. there was a triangle in the books, but it was minor at best. (i'm only on season 2 out of three, so i hope this at least gets better). this isn't even my main problem with this character in the show. they've fallen into the classic issue of trying to make an unproblematic female character who gets along with everyone, but in the books, she was very problematic. you know, the 'not here to be liked' kinda attitude. the girl in the show would never have been able to beat the bad guys in the books because she had this attitude in the books. her character just falls flat. i hate it.
(this one isn't really a huge issue. it just bothers me because i know what clare's inspiration was for this particular character.) so the ship that the fandom relatively agrees is the main ship even though it doesn't involve the main character is an mlm ship involving a repressed guy that clare based on a friend that committed suicide and wanted to give a better life. i actually like his character in the show; he's relatively accurate, and the relationship is fun to see on screen. the thing is, he went from insecure closeted guy to confident and (relatively) happy fast, way faster than in the books. on one level i'm happy for him, you know, glad he's happy so fast, but on another level, i was expecting to see the process of a queer character coming out of his shell and exploring his sexuality, especially since in the books it was a really big deal that imo was written pretty well. like i said, not a huge issue when compared to the other stuff they got wrong, but. idk. i just liked it better in the books.
there's also this character who's jewish, and in the books, it was kind of a big deal, like they actually addressed it and there's a couple scenes where it's important to the plot (not like in a stereotyping way; it's actually a plot point) and another scene where he's thinking about his dad's funeral and they talk about it, but in the show (so far) it's literally mentioned once. as a joke. (i still have a lot left to go so this another thing i hope gets better, but as of episode 2x10, i'm not optimistic).
also, in the books, one of the main themes is don't trust authority and working within the law rarely works, and it's just...not there in the show. they follow the law and work with their government pretty much always even though it's about as corrupt as it was in the books (so far). i'm watching it and desperately looking for the little rebellions they had in the books and just not finding it. they literally badmouth the government and break the law and never listen and do whatever the hell they want in the books because their government is trash and in the show they're so complacent about it. like, they'll stand up for themselves sometimes, but not much else. i'm hoping something big happens soon because this is boring. where's the revolution. come on.
there's about a million other inaccuracies that suck, but these are the ones that suck the most. if i somehow manage to finish the show by saturday, I'll let you know if it gets better.
thanks for listening to my rant! i needed it lol
Ok love this because even though it definitely makes me not want to watch the show... it REALLY makes me want to read the books. This rant is the best 'why to read this' blurb ever omg

The Graveyard of Dropped Shows
So the thought occurs to me that I’ve dropped quite a few anime this season. Turns out, when you don’t pressure yourself to keep up with every show you start out of an obsessive need for cataloguing, it’s a lot easier to say goodbye to shows you don’t like. Who’d have thought? And at this point, I’m far enough into the shows I’m still watching that I’m mostly confident sticking with them to the end. Unless things really take a turn for the worse, but hey, we’ll burn that bridge when we cross to it. For now, I thought I’d just give a quick rundown of all the spring 2023 anime I started watching but gave up on for whatever reason. Cool? Cool. Welcome to the first installment of my graveyard of dropped shows!
Hell’s Paradise: Dropped at 4 episodes
Tumblr media
This is probably the most unfair drop on my list. Hell’s Paradise is fine, I guess; as much as I hate the overly bloomed-out lighting Mappa decided to go with, the action’s pretty fun and I’m a sucker for a good Garden of Nightmares setting. It’s a perfectly adequate Shonen Thing that’ll scratch a lot of people’s itches. But man, the older I get, the less patience I have for what I’ve come to call Shonen Gender Bullshit, or SGB for short. And sweet buttery crumpets, this show is full of it. It takes all of one episode for Sagiri to transform from a competent executioner deuteragonist to an inexperienced damsel who exists mainly to be outclassed and taught lessons by the men around her while she stares on in reactive awe. The only other female characters besides her are either evil seductresses who flaunt their bodies for the audience at the first possible opportunity or saintly, far-off idealized wives who exist as goals for Gabimaru to strive for. And in a post-Jujutsu Kaisen world, there is no more excuse for your ridiculous shonen beat-em-up to not treat its ladies with respect.
Konosuba Megumin: Dropped at 2 episodes
Tumblr media
Was there a time when I actually liked Konosuba? I’m sure there was, but every new installment in this series just makes it harder and harder to remember why any of us thought this show was anything more than passably amusing at best. And this is a spinoff centered on its best character! If anyone from this cast of losers and misfits had the strength to carry a side story of their own, it was the crimson witch Megumin herself. But absent the incredibly expressive, body-contorting animation that made Konosuba’s comedy work as well as it did, all you’re left with is a boring supporting cast, stupid fanservice, and jokes about guys being creepy perverts who want to molest women. Riveting.
Magical Destroyers: Dropped at 3 episodes
Tumblr media
It’s almost impressive how lame Magical Destroyers manages to be. It’s got some of the most unhinged, creative animation this side of mid-2000s Gainax, all the angular momentum and unhinged editing of a lost Hiroyuki Imaishi show. You can tell the series creator started as a graphic designer, because he sure designed the fuck out of these graphics. Unfortunately, you can also tell he’s a graphic designer from the script. Because all that insanely creative animation is paired with some of the dullest, stuffiest, most conservative writing imaginable. If you were hoping for some clever subversion of the “otaku are the most oppressed minority” setup, prepare to be disappointed. This is just brainless wish fulfillment for insecure manchildren who want to feel like badass revolutionaries surrounded by super-sexy, super-powerful warrior women who nevertheless happily submit to some hapless dudebro’s orders. Every single artist involved in this slog deserved to put their talents to better use.
The Marginal Service: Dropped at 1 episode
Tumblr media
How do you take a premise like “sexy firefighter super sentai heroes fighting aliens” and make it boring? Well, by slathering it in five layers of faux tryhard grit and grime, making every character the dullest possible archetype version of themself, and drowing the whole affair in a level of xenophobia so uncomfortable I barely made it through a single episode. Cygames just knocked it out of the park with Akiba Maid War, how did they go from that masterpiece to this?
Mashle: Dropped at 2 episodes
Tumblr media
This show feels like someone watched One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100 and thought “Wow, I should make a show like that!” without fully understanding what makes them so great. Everything is such a surface-level approximation of ONE’s writing talents, from the tired “Wow, this guy is so overpowered!” gags to the reheated “Despite my powers, I just want to live a normal life” motivation. Not to mention its own struggles with the dreaded Shonen Gender Bullshit. But what really killed Mashle for me is very simple: it’s primarily comedy, and it doesn’t make me laugh. Or at least, it doesn’t make me laugh consistently enough to justify sitting through the lackluster animation and cardboard characters. I’ll just watch Mob Psycho again, thank you very much.
My Clueless First Friend: Dropped at 1 episode
Tumblr media
Okay, I lied: this is the most unfair drop on my list. As a simple story about a clueless elementary school boy unknowingly helping his classmate deal with bullies, there’s really nothing wrong here. But we have no absence of fantastic rom-coms to keep up busy these days. Just this season alone, My Love Story with Yamada-kun, The Dangers in my Heart, and especially Skip and Loafer have more than enough charm and wholesomeness to fill those needs. And unless you’re really fond of shrill vocal performances (seriously, whoever’s voicing the male lead makes him so irritating to listen to), there’s nothing here you can’t get much better in countless other places. Just Fine, sadly, no longer cuts it in the competitive world of anime rom-coms.

Tipiskaw Mall: A Disventure Camp AU
Been thinking about creating this for a while, and I decided to finally get it out there.
This one's kinda like a florist AU, but a bit more than that. The main focus is Ellie and Gabby, cuz c'mon it's me we're talking about, but there's some other characters and stuff I wanted to bring into this too. I'm always open to see people experiment with this AU, just be sure to credit me.
The basic gist is that a good amount of the Disventure Camp casts all work at a mall owned by Kristal together, and frequently bump into each other on shifts. It's because of this that a love starts to blossom between a bartender and a florist.
These are a few of the ideas I'm sticking by now:
Ellie
Tumblr media
Pretty similar to canon. She's your average ordinary low-class citizen. She works a tough job as a bartender at the local bar in the Tipiskaw Mall. She works long and hard shifts with unruly customers and an awful boss (we'll get to him). As a result she's constantly stressed and exhausted, and not really happy with her lot in life.
However one day she happens to discover that a new florist's has opened in the mall. Ellie happens to love flowers, especially fragrant ones - so she decides to check it out, and boom, she meets the owner, who happens to be the prettiest girl she's ever seen!
From then on, Ellie passes by the florist's every day on the way to and from her bartender shifts, just to get some time to say hi to her new friend - and she's got a few friends that'll help her out along the way.
Gabby
Tumblr media
Gabby is a more recent employee at the Tipiskaw Mall. Still her quirky, bubbly, nature-loving self, she's the owner of the new florist that has recently opened in the mall. She specializes in the most sweetly fragrant flowers she can get her hands on, and she knows a thing or two about the language of flowers as well.
While she's quite kooky and a bit on the socially awkward side, Gabby is an incredibly kindhearted individual who is happy to let Ellie come and visit every day - she knows it makes Ellie happy. And in return, Ellie comforts her over her insecurities - this isn't the first job Gabby has had, and the past few jobs she's had didn't exactly end well for her. She has some regrets with her past actions - but Ellie will help her face them. (Won't say too much here, but she probably has hurt at least ONE person who was cruel to animals.)
Every morning when Ellie comes to visit, Gabby gives her a bouquet of some of her favorite flowers as a gift - simply to let her know she's got her support. The two become incredibly close - and maybe something more can 'blossom' between the two of them.
Yul
Tumblr media
Surprised to see this guy here? Rare time I mention season 2 :P
Yul is Ellie's boss. A lazy individual, Yul is quite the penny-pinching and cruel boss, basically giving Ellie minimal pay and using the rest of his cash for party binges. He's also not really one to care for stopping stuff like bar fights - he's only really here for the cash and the good laughs.
Yul is also incredibly strict. If Ellie messes up even a little, he won't hesitate to absolutely lash her with beratements. He also forces her to do janitorial work at the end of each shift. This is mostly because the last janitor left due to being sick of Yul's attitude. Ellie would've done the same, but she's in such a bad place in her life that she needs SOME form of payment every day.
Yul pretty much immediately takes a disliking to Gabby for her bubbly, eccentric and kooky nature, and forbids her from entering his bar. As a result, Gabby ends up needing to sneak into the bar whenever she wants to see Ellie there. Over time, Ellie will learn to stand up to Yul.
Alec
Tumblr media
So I know he and Ellie ended up on iffy terms in canon but idc I'm still letting the two be on good terms in this AU
Alec owns a local bookstore in the mall that isn't far from Yul's bar. Having been through a divorce already in this AU, he's mostly looking to his future by working a job he enjoys. He's trying to convince Ellie that she can do the same - she just finds it tough breaking the cycle and escaping her bartender job knowing the difficult life position she's in.
Alec works alongside Grett, who is about as cantankerous and rude as she is in canon. He often needs to tell her to behave when she's making bad comments about Ellie, Gabby, or other people. Also hanging out at his job is Fiore, who mostly just runs around causing trouble and makes witty commentary on other people's bad decisions. Fiore has also picked up on the crushes Ellie and Gabby have gained on each other and just wonders when the hell they're gonna stop dancing around their feelings and actually start dating!
I'll go over some other stuff just in brief, cuz I don't wanna be here all damn night lol
James and Aiden are the co-owners of a local phones and electronics store. James is still a popular influencer, who self-funds all his crazy challenges through the profits from his store. Aiden, who's already been dating James for a while, is there to make sure James doesn't accidentally light himself on fire doing his challenges. They're both pretty good friends with Ellie, and she often turns to them for relationship advice.
Tom is the mall cop. Diligent and cool-headed, he's quite talented and is usually there to prevent any bad activity from getting out of hand. He frequently chases down Fiore whenever her trouble is getting too much, and comes to help Ellie when bar fights get out of control at Yul's bar. He's also one of the earliest people to make friends with Gabby, along with Ellie.
Jake is the manager of the mall's Hot Topic. He's still his emotional and impulsive self, and has a relationship with Tom. Tess is his co-worker, and she's usually able to help talk Jake and Tom through their relationship troubles.
Ally owns a local rental store for movies and video games. She works with her boyfriend Hunter and the poor former film actress Riya, who is still trying to find roles.
Karol owns a pet store where Gabby hangs out frequently. As you'd expect, Karol is grumpy, but she does get a soft spot for Gabby, and admires her passion for nature and animals. She helps convince her to work up the courage to ask Ellie out.
And Lill owns a toy store where Ashley, Will and Rosa Maria are her employees. They frequently end up having trouble with Fiore whenever she comes around with Alec. Lol.
Those are all I'm coming up with for now, but I'm sure I'll cook up some new ideas in future posts! Keep your eyes peeled - I'm pretty fond of this idea!
